“You could rest your wings here” I say and in the same breath, I mutter “you shouldn’t be here.” You roll your bright blue eyes under your dark hood. As you brush past me, I wonder when you seized my heart. Was there another crusade that went unnoticed by me? Even then, I can never say no to you. I tuck your golden hair behind your ear as I lay beside you. I keep a glass of holy water on the bedside table for you. I want to ask you how you can sleep in a devil’s bed. I never get to. In the morning, you leave behind a stray white feather and it turns to dust when I reach out to touch it.
— descent.

Don't Bother.
You cast aside your halo.
I thought it was over.
Though you came back.
You had different intentions.
Nothing lasts forever, you said.
You might forgive me.
But I won't forget who you chose.
After all these years.
You burnt me.
Worse than any hellfire could.
So don't bother.

Filament
behold!
my heart
a confection
of spun-sugar
lightning
a tiny
fragile star
you might
think it would quake
in awe of
supernova light
and inhuman form
but having
stared into the infinite
fragility
of human existence
a life constrained
by death from the moment
we are born
I feel no trepidation
only gentle sorrow
and love
infinite love
for the eternal embers
that can only watch us
kindle
and fall to ash
again
and again
who can never know
—not first-hand
not intimately—
what it is to rush forward
into the flame
not in spite of death
but because we are alive

Summary:
The fae nodded. “Yes, I requested help from Hell as well as Heaven.”
Rex relaxed his hold and pulled his dagger away. “You don’t look very helpful,” he told the demon as he slipped his weapon back in his thigh holster.
The sneer tipped into something more flirtatious, and the demon ran one hand up the outside of Rex’s thigh. “Oh, you’d be surprised at how helpful I can be,” he purred.

“God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players, to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.”
- Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Good Omens (1990)

aziraphale, wiping tears: what did you think?
crowley: ...
aziraphale: did you not like it?
crowley, hesitates: weeell...
aziraphale, sighs: what was wrong with this one?
crowley, shrugs: I don't know. it was all so...depressing. I mean, they were kids, angel
aziraphale, rolls his eyes: it's romantic
crowley: it's morbid
aziraphale, shakes his head: yes but it's about the star crossed lovers. the forbidden love. the tragedy. two feuding families. you wouldn't understand
crowley: *stares at him*
crowley, incredulous: sorry, did you seriously just say that?
aziraphale, oblivious: yes. so?
crowley, sighs: nothing *takes his arm* come on, let's get out of here
aziraphale, smiles: yes, I believe I owe you a drink. for coming with me
crowley, nods: several, I should think
aziraphale: it wasn't that bad
crowley, glares at him: dead kids, angel
aziraphale, agreeing: yes, I see your point
