It’s a Saturday and they’ve gotten their weekends down to a comfortable routine. They had all these plans before. Driving up to Indy every week, spontaneous road trips, but now that the dust has finally settled all they really want is to hole up the house.

The first few months after everything that went down this summer were hard. Even harder now that the Byers are gone and everyone is trying to regain some sense of normalcy. Add onto that the kids starting high school and Eddie’s struggles finding a job without a high school diploma and their plans for wild adventures quickly went out the window.

But it’s okay. They have time.

Life is good now. Getting better every day.

And there’s a whole lifetime left to see the world if they want to.

For now, he just wants to cuddle up with Robin on the couch and watch shitty movies. Eddie should be home any second and there’s an empty space for him right next to Steve.

Robin yawns into his neck as the credits begin to roll.

Steve’s pretty sure he fell asleep for a little bit halfway through the movie. He wasn’t really paying attention anyway.

“God, we should probably get up…” Robin whines. “But is it bad if I just wanna lay here and do nothing with you?”

Steve smiles into her hair. It’s good to know they’re on the same page.

at first - you know introverts often need smaller friend groups, and honestly, you're fine staying at home too. you like the small, tidy life you occupy. you're not going to punish him for his personality type.

except: he really does hate everyone but you. which means he doesn't get along with his therapist. which means he has no one to talk to except for you. which means you take care of him constantly, since he otherwise has no one. which means you sometimes have to apologize for him. which means he keeps you home from seeing your friends because he hates them. you're the single exception.

about a decade from this experience, you'll type into google: how to know if a relationship is codependent.
