after monaco, all i feel is pain. wtf happened to both mick and kevin's cars? I didn't go into this week expecting points but i'm just worried about the rest of the season. haas strategy has sucked the past couple of weeks, which messed up mick and kevin's chances at points, mick had a second costly crash which can really hurt their budget again, mick still has no points, and at this point im nervous that if this keeps up, the team will continue to struggle and mick's seat will be threatened. i really hope i'm wrong about this and i still have faith in both drivers and the team, but wtf is going on? what's your opinion on all of this?
i definitely feel your pain, anon!
there are so many layers to this, so i'll share my opinion on several things you mention.
haas needs to have a serious conversation about strategy. i don't know how they can solve their problems, but something is going wrong there - and as you say, it has hurt both kevin and mick in their hunt for points. if i was at haas right now, i'd consider trying to poach a good strategist with experience to help. they need to talk about how they are not backmarkers anymore - and they have to play it safe more often. better to consistently be in the points than to take crazy risks to try and get a position beyond what the car is capable of. haas does have a track record of taking these risks, but it has been more apparent this season than ever before and they need to go back to basics. it is obvious this weekend that k-mag was pissed at them for butchering his qualification, so i hope as team leader that he will have some words with them and that might put them in the right direction. before kevin joined, they actually didn't even have a tyre specialist - he made them hire one in his first few months there, so kevin has shown that he can influence them.
their luck needs to change. there is no question that haas has fucked up strategy multiple times, but there is also no question that luck has not been on their side the last few races. bad luck can't continue indefinitely, they just need one good race again and then hopefully luck will be on their side again.
mick. unfortunately, i think today was quite significant for him - and not in a good way. today was mick's golden chance. with kevin retired and out of the race, he was the team's only focus, their only chance at points, and then he drives into the wet and loses control of his haas. monaco is a tough track, but you have to keep in mind that others also had the same challenge and didn't put it into the wall.   kevin has done minor damage to the car this season, and this is the second time mick totals the car which means that almost everything has to be changed again. with the budget cap this season, that is just not something that can keep happening. the question is: does the haas split in two too easily - and by doing that, needlessly do extra damage to the car? or is it that mick just wrecks so much worse than they have done in the past? (obviously excluding grosjean's last race for haas). the car splits in two for safety, i know that, but i don't know how sensitive that mechanism is, if you understand? like some cars used to have a very sensitive airbag that would deploy if the vehicle was merely tapped. i wonder if the same thing is happening here or if mick just have had two really big crashes this season.   i will stand by that mick is safe and we should cut him some slack until the summer break. but it's clear from the monaco gp report that guenther's patience is wearing thin. it's understandable for a rookie (which he basically is because of how bad the 2021 car was) to not score points as often as their experienced teammate, but they cannot afford to keep having him wreck the car. for mick, everything will depend on the next races and how he does in comparison to kevin. it will also depend on haas and sponsorships. but i will say he has not driven his contract home yet, but luckily for mick, he still has a good amount of races left to do so.

I hope you had a great weekend, mbbdarling! Mine was very busy, but I'm back and ready to harass you. ;)
First of all, you don’t know how jealous I am that you got to go to the tour!!! I am also US-based, but I do not have local friends who are into kpop, but more specifically, since my city is small, it would never host international acts, so I would have had to travel several hours to the closest shows, and I was not keen to do that alone. Of course, right after the tour, I made a new regional mbb friend who would have gone with me, but it doesn’t change the fact that I missed “Wildfire” live, and I’ll never forgive myself for chickening out on that. :( Next time, I will not back down! But I’m super happy you got to see them and witness history, and I will live vicariously through you, my new friend! You are right—Hyungwon’s voice *is* underrated (in fact, it’s my fave—hard to describe, but it has always done funny swimmy things to my brain that, even before I could admit he was my bias).
Oh, yes, their sense of humor is one of my favorite things about being an MX stan. I can’t get through anything they film without shedding tears of laughter. They’re so witty and quick-on-their-feet, and they know each other so well, they really, truly are brothers. Have you seen them playing the mafia game? That has me dead every time! They always know how to make you feel like you’re there with them, truly a part of their friend group. They’re considerate and respectful and supportive, and yet, they can roast each other only like the deepest of friends can.
Which leads me to my rather unusual questions for today:
You and your best friend, Jooheon, are going out for a night, just the two of you. Where do you go? What do you do? What do you wear? What’s playing in the car? If you watch a movie, which one? How/where does the night end?
Am I asking you to write a fanfic? Lol it sounds like it, doesn’t it? ;) But it’s cool to just give me some bullet points, I swear. I just want a taste of your vibes. Have a hell of a good Monday, babe!
Xoxo mbb secret santa
Aww I'm sorry you didn't get to see them!! I also live in a very small town but we're close enough to a major city that I was able to make the drive. I'm sure you'll get to go next time!
Now let's see..... what would I want to do if I got to hang out with Jooheon?? The place I live is pretty small but we have a great sushi restaurant, so I would take him there for dinner and then put on a playlist of some of my favorite non-kpop artists that I suspect he would also vibe with (like Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae, Anderson .Paak, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar). I live in the mountains and one of my favorite things to do is just drive up on the Parkway and cruise around.
And of course once it gets dark, you have to pull over at an overlook and get out and check out the stars. There's no light pollution that high up so you can see the Milky Way, it's really beautiful. It's just a nice way to spend an evening because you can listen to good music and vibe and have conversations and that's how I like to spend my time with friends.
I hope you had a great day today! ❤️ I'll talk to you again soon!

(12:47pm) wanna get lunch?
the text lights up the screen of your cellphone as you sit, feet propped on your coffee table, sprawled out across your sofa in the midday sunshine. there's something mindless playing on the TV that you've long since lost interest in, and at the prospect of food your stomach reminds you it's been a good couple of hours since you've eaten.
it's from eren, the guy you've been hooking up with for the past couple of weeks; a friend of a friend of a friend who you saw at too many parties and found way too pretty to complain when you inevitably ended up on his lap with his tongue down your throat on a lumpy sofa in a frat house basement.
it's not completely unusual for you to go out for food together, having struck a sort of casual camaraderie between the two of you - though these plans ultimately meant you'd probably end up naked and bent over the most readily available piece of furniture back at one of your apartments later on, depending on whose roommates weren't home.
sure, where? you reply after a moment's consideration.
(12:48pm) I'll pick you up, can you be ready in 20?
eren shows up to pick you up exactly 20 minutes later, which is unusual - he's never been on time for any plans the two of you have ever made, always running a minimum of fifteen minutes behind schedule.
what's even more unusual is the way he's dressed.
his shoulder length hair is pulled back into his trademark half-up hairstyle, but there's something neater about it than usual - like he'd combed it into place rather than haphazardly tying it up. he's dressed differently too: he's ditched his usual bomber jacket for a real coat - wool with large buttons dotted up the front - though he's left it open to reveal the hoodie he has on underneath.
"you look... nice," you say warily as you drop yourself into the passenger's seat of his car.
"thanks," he says with a light laugh at the clear hesitation in your voice.
the two of you drive for a while, you playing DJ with eren's spotify as he drives, until you pull up outside a restaurant on the other side of town.
"I think this is a private parking lot," you point out as eren pulls into a spot.
"I know that," he says, shifting the car into park and cutting the engine.
"woah, wait a minute," you say, eyes widening, "are we going to eat here?"
the restaurant you've pulled up to is far nicer than one you'd usually frequent together - a picturesque little bistro that serves brunch and has fresh flowers on every table. a far cry from the diners and fast food chains the two of you would normally visit.
"yeah," eren says with a shrug.
"why?" you ask him.
"looks nice," he shrugs again.
"too nice! eren, I'm not even wearing a bra."
eren's eyes flicker down towards your chest.
"hey!" you chirp, swatting at him. he laughs.
"it's not a big deal, we're just going in there to eat." he's so nonchalant about it that it only serves to annoy you more.
"exactly, so why don't we go somewhere more casual?" you counter, arms crossing over your chest.
eren purses his lips and looks through the windshield, his eyes narrowing a bit as though he's thinking hard about something.
"what?" you ask him, sensing he has something he needs to divulge.
"my parents are here," he says.
"uh, what?" you ask, confused. you look around the parking lot, but don't see anyone lingering nearby.
"we're meeting them for lunch," he explains further.
"UH, WHAT?" you repeat yourself, this time far more incredulously.
he looks at you, his green eyes paying careful attention to the furious crease in your brow.
"eren, what the hell?" you hiss at him.
"my mom wanted to meet you," he says, and as if sensing the fact that if he shrugs again you were liable to commit a crime, he freezes before his shoulders can rise.
you stutter over your words for a moment. "wha- how- why does your mom want to meet me?"
"i told her about you," he says simply.
you blink at him.
"she called one day and asked what I did that weekend, so I told her about the movie we went to see. she asked about you." he says it all so matter of factly that it almost makes sense.
"why did you tell her about me? couldn't you have just said you went with a friend?"
"you are a friend," he replies, "and I told her because she asked."
you groan, burying your face in your hands - not a shred of makeup on your face for you to worry about ruining, because you hadn't even bothered to put any on before you left the house.
"you told your mom that we're sleeping together?"
"no," eren says, his tone vaguely offended that you'd even suggest it.
you relax a bit.
"I told her we're dating."
your head snaps up, eyes wide as they land on the boy in the driver's seat.
the two of you stare at one another for a moment, and it seems like at the same time for both of you, the pieces click into place.
"you thought-"
"you didn't-"
you both start to speak at the same time, though neither of you finish your thoughts. truthfully, you don't have to.
"jesus, eren," you sigh, raking a hand through your hair. "a bit of warning would have been nice."
"warning about my parents or warning about us dating?" he asks, and he doesn't even bother to hide the amusement in his tone.
you look at him blankly. "both."
it's quiet for a moment in the car as you process this unexpected information.
"are they already waiting in there?" you sigh.
"yeah, but if you don't want to go in I can take you back home," eren says.
"it's fine," you reply, defeated but not unwilling to go along with this unexpected turn of events. you look at eren, whose face has seemed to brighten a little at your concession. "but we will definitely be having a conversation about this dating thing later."
"whatever you want," he agrees.
much to your surprise, lunch is incredibly enjoyable. eren's parents - grisha and carla - are sweet, and if they notice how underdressed you are for the occasion they both do a fantastic job at not letting on.
you chat about your hometown, and what you're studying, then about how you and eren met - admittedly opting to gloss over a few of the less lunch appropriate details when it came to the latter.
carla in turn reveals plenty of things about eren that you'd never even thought to ask - what he was like as a kid, his favourite foods, the fact that he has an older half-brother (who apparently was very upset he was missing the occasion.)
it's late in the afternoon by the time the four of you exit the restaurant - eren's warm coat having found its way draped over your shoulders. you say your goodbyes, and eventually you part ways - eren's parents heading towards where they'd parked their car down the street, while you and the tall boy beside you walk in the direction of the parking lot.
you've barely turned the corner of the building before you feel a pair of strong hands on your waist, the brick wall of the bistro suddenly pressing into your back as you're pushed into it. eren's mouth crashes down to meet yours.
you let him kiss you breathless - not caring that it's the middle of the day, not caring that you have a half-eaten mint in your mouth which eren's diligent tongue sweeps quickly into his own, not caring that his parents could drive by and see you at any time.
when he pulls away, your chest is burning from the lack of oxygen, your eyelids fluttering slowly open to look at him.
"what was that for?" you ask him, almost embarrassed by how breathy your voice sounds.
"my mom likes you a lot," he says, staring down at you as he continues to crowd you against the wall, one hand braced on the brick beside your face. you watch as he suckles on the mint that moments prior had been yours.
"s'that so?" you ask, "how do you know?"
"she texted our family group chat halfway through lunch," eren replies, "and then said it again when you went to the washroom just before we left. my dad liked you too."
you blink at him for a moment.
"i can't believe you tricked me into dating you," you mutter, shaking your head a little.
eren grins at you lopsidedly, clearly pleased with himself.
"so that means it worked?" he asks.
"only because your mom is so sweet," you sniff. you then reach up to point a finger at him warningly. "and if you ever pull a stunt like this again, the next time she calls you can tell her all about how I kicked your ass."
he laughs, catching your wrist in his much larger hand, bringing it towards him. his lips brush over the tip of your outstretched finger, hardly even a kiss, before sliding down towards your knuckles where he repeats the gesture - all with a smile curling up at the edges of his mouth.
"you got it."
he uses his grip on your wrist to pull you forward, his mouth meeting yours again.
at least you got your mint back.

Kids (Prologue)| NCT Dream × Fem!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warning : cliche, a few cusses, little fluff, possessiveness, NCT Dream being bratty and stubborn. No proofread :(
Synopsis : Y/n somehow ended up helping Mark babysit his stepbrothers for the weekend. That two days of babysitting soon turned into frequent days of her visiting them as they would throw a fit if she wouldn't. When she thought everything would be fine soon, it only became worse as time passed by.
Take note that Mark and Y/n are at the same age(15). 00 line are 7 while Chenle is 6 and Jisung is 5.
"Vroom! Vroom! Vrooom!" Jisung said loudly through his pouted lips. He was sitting on his big toy car, imitating the roaring machine of an actual car.
Behind him was Chenle pushing him on all sides of the wide nursery room to make Jisung feel like he's really driving the car. The younger kid raised both his hands up, enjoying the ride and the room was filled with their cute giggles.
"Hey, slow down. You might get hurt—" Mark immediately cut his own words, replacing it with a loud yelp when the wheels of the car they were riding ran on his toes. "Ahhh!" he instinctively crouched down to hold his toes that were now throbbing in pain.
The duo didn't even bother to look back at him and ask if he's okay cuz they're too entertained to even notice his suffering.
"Y/n, help!" he called out for the female who just entered the room carrying a very hyper Haechan on her arms that she chased around the house for almost half an hour so she could get him to wear his pants.
She had such a great time giving him a bath. Haechan splashed water on her clothes, saying that he wanted her to join him on his bubble bath. Ending him getting her hoodie soaked wet (she took it off and let it dry), thankfully, her shirt was safe.
He wanted to play with her all the time. He doesn't want her to take a break even for a damn minute and he never ran out of some things he'd like to say. Either he makes sense or not, he doesn't care.
She wasn't supposed to be here. She was supposed to be enjoying her time alone at home while it's still weekend but here she is, babysitting her friend's stepbrothers. It just so happened that she met Mark's parents when both of them walked home together yesterday from school.
They had a little chitchat and eventually got along. Then that's when they asked her a favor to help Mark take care of his stepbrothers during the weekend as they won't be able to keep an eye on them because of their busy schedules.
She was about to decline until she heard that they're going to pay her a fair price. Yup, she needed money that's why she agreed with them. Her family is not as rich as the Lees so she can't always get the things she wanted to buy. So in order to be able to, she had to work for it. She got her parent's permission that night, letting her do what she wanted.
"Why? What happened?" she asked Mark, trying to keep Haechan still or he'll fall down but she decided to put his feet on the floor. "Nooo! Carry me! Carry me!" Haechan whined, holding his arms up to her.
She tiredly sighed, picking him up again. She knew the last thing to do to him is to make him upset. He'd cry nonstop and would totally be mad at everyone. She didn't want that. Things would be harder to handle than it already is right now.
"My toes freaking hurt! I don't think I'll be able to stand up." He over exaggerated.
Y/n approached him to check if he's alright then found his toes flamming red. "Oh god, uhm, I'll go get some ice or something. I don't know how to treat that but I hope it would help." she rushed to the kitchen with Haechan still on her arms.
Opening the top of the fridge, she saw an ice pack. She grabbed it and was about to close the fridge when Haechan spotted the fruit popsicles. "I want that." he pointed at the sweet treats that caught his attention.
She reached the first popsicle, "I don't like that. I want the strawberry." then she gave him one. He better not have cavities for eating too much sweets or else she'd be blamed for it.
She helped him get rid of the plastic wrapper, throwing it on the trash bin before letting him eat the fruit popsicle. His eyes almost literally twinkled once the cold strawberry treat touched his tongue. At least, he's happy now.
They both went back to the room, handing Mark the ice pack to help it ease the pain on his poor toes. "Thanks." Mark sighed and she nodded, sitting beside him on the sofa but their eyes are still on the kids just to make sure they're okay.
"Where are your maids? Aren't they supposed to be helping us here?"
"They all went home to their families. Only our cook and our driver are the only workers left here." That explains why she didn't bump into someone else in this house.
Renjun was not so far from them. He's quietly sitting on the carpeted floor attaching puzzle pieces together, focusing on completing the picture into whole. Despite the whole chaos going on around him, he somehow found peace on the corner of the room.
Well, not until he found out that Jeno was chewing on the other puzzle pieces. He's been trying to look at the missing items on his puzzle only to find out that they're with Jeno all the time.
The two kids fought. Renjun was huffing mad while Jeno was crying. Even though he already said sorry, Renjun doesn't seem to forgive him anytime soon for ruining his puzzle that he worked on for hours since this morning.
Mark limped his way to Jeno to calm him down and Y/n took care of Renjun (and Haechan, of course). She was in the middle of a conversation with Renjun when she felt a tug on her shirt.
Looking down, she saw a sleepy Jaemin rubbing his eyes. "I'm sleepy." he said. He must've been worn out from joining Haechan at every trouble he initiated.
"Oh, wait a second." she told him, he silently nodded.
"Haechan, can you please sit here with Renjun for a while?" she carefully put him beside the said boy.
"Huh? But why? Where are you going?" he asked her after he took out the popsicle out of his mouth.
She lifted Jaemin on her arms this time which Haechan frowned at. "I'll just go take him to his room. I'll be back, I promise." She waited him to say something but he stayed silent, glaring at the boy playing her hair, completely unaware of the piercing gaze of his stepbrother.
"Uhm, we'll go now..." she awkwardly informed him before making her way out of the room for the nth time of the day. This time, she's the one unaware of Jaemin sticking his tongue at Haechan to tease him. Before he could stomp his way to him, Y/n was already out of the room with Jaemin, leaving both Renjun and Haechan angry of different reasons.
Throughout the whole time she carried Jaemin to his room, he continued to play with her hair. Twirling silky strands of her hair on his small fingers, droopy eyes slowly closing and his head weighed on her shoulder.
Assuming that he fell asleep, Y/n could only sigh in relief that one of the most chaotic step brothers finally took his rest. After climbing a few more flight of stairs, she reached his room at last. The whole mansion is too big for her liking but she's not the one living here so she can't have something to say to it.
She pushed the door open, laying Jaemin on his queen sized bed then she covered half of his body with his comforters. "Sleep well, Jaemin." she kissed his forehead before she left him and he slept with a smile adorning his lips.
"What took you so long?" Haechan immediately asked her, arms crossed on his chest and his brows still furrowed together. "Haechan, you know how far Jaemin's room is from here. Come on, stop being sulky. I'm already here."
She glanced at Mark reading a book for Jisung, Chenle and Jeno on the table. "Why don't you join them?" Haechan shook his head. "Because I don't want to."
"Aren't you going to take your afternoon nap too?"
"No."
"What about—" he didn't let her finish her words as he stood up and stomped away out of the nursery room. He left her there confused. Renjun who had finally cooled off his anger approached her.
"He's mad at you."
Y/n looked down at him. "I just tucked Jaemin to sleep. Why'd he gotta make a big deal about it?" she asked as if she's talking to herself. Renjun knew the answer but didn't blurt out anything about it instead he held her hand.
"Can we go pick flowers on the garden?" she smiled at him with a nod. "Yeah, sure. Let's go."

Change Of Heart
“C'mon, Nancy. Watch the game with me.” Walking against the crowd, you try to convince Nancy to stay. Billy has a basketball game today, and you'll have to wait anyway since he's driving you home, so you decided to watch. And why not having Nancy join you? “You don't have anything to do.”
Rolling her eyes, she finally nods. “Fine, (Y/N).”
Smiling, you run to the court, making your way to the middle of the bleachers. “We have to pick different teams.”
“You'll cheer for Billy, that's pretty obvious.”
“Well, I–” You're cut short by a whistle, and a few seconds later the boys come out of the locker room.
You didn't want to look for too long, just enough for him to know you're here. But something quickly gets your attention. “Oh, boy,” Nancy mutters, elbowing you. “Don't even try to convince me you didn't notice.”
Of course you noticed. How could you not notice he's shirtless. “Shut up, Nancy.” You manage to say, eyes still set on Billy. Once he finds you in the bleachers, he squints his eyes a little, a smirk coming to his lips.
“Alright...” She mumbles, and you finally manage to look away.
“What?”
“Nothing, nothing.” She sing-songs, laughing a little. “I'm just really excited for the day when you'll call me to talk about whatever is going on between you and Billy Hargrove.”
You nervously giggle, feeling heat spreading through your cheeks. Thankfully, the game starts so you have something else to pay attention to. “You know what's going on. We're studying.”
“You're studying.” She puts some emphasis on the ‘s’, making you roll your eyes. “Then explain me the heart eyes.”
“What heart eyes?”
“The heart eyes Billy makes at you. Like, all the time.”
Taking a deep breath, you lightly shake your head. “I don't know what you're talking about.”
“I'll be here when you're ready.”
“Shit, Nancy.” You burst out, eyes set on Billy. He looks at you every now and then, that smug smirk never leaving his face. You really wish you could pick on him after if all his staring was causing him to suck at the game. But Billy is amazing, and he's nailing it, making it look easy. The man doesn't even try, the jerk. “Things are... Complicated.”
“We have time. Spill it out.”
Running a hand through your hair, you sigh. “Billy... Billy said something about wanting to change. And he said he was trying because he found a girl–”
“And the girl is you.” She cuts you off, a hand on your knee, shaking it until you look at her. “Explain it, (Y/N). You've been a mystery since you and Billy started that program. Tell me what's going on because I know something is going on.”
“One day we were talking about relationships. And I told him I do believe he can change if he meets the right girl... And some time after he told me he found that girl and yes, it's me.” You lower your voice, making a pause just to see Billy making an amazing dunk. You can't help but yell, getting a smirk and a wink from him. He's absolutely amazing. “And I... I told him we're completely different but... That we could see how things play out.”
“So help me out here.” She mutters, looking at something behind you. When you give a quick look over your shoulder, you see Stacy and two of her friends coming to the bleachers. “You gave Billy Hargrove a chance.”
“No, I just... I just said we could see what happens. I mean...”
“(Y/N), be honest with me.” Nancy gets your attention again, and you forget the game for a while, turning your body towards her. You've been avoiding talking to her because you didn't want to think about it too much. But now you know you need to. “You're acting like it's nothing but I know you. I know there's something.”
“Nan, I'm really–”
“Hey, (Y/N),” Stacy says, right before settling down next to you.
Raising an eyebrow and exchanging a glance with Nancy, you look at her. “Hi. May I help you with something?”
“Oh, always so good, (Y/N).” She giggles. “But actually yes, you can help me. Stop monopolizing Billy.” Stacy finally looks at you, and she's mad. Angry even. “Ever since he was shoved into this stupid program and paired up with you, he hasn't had time for anything else. No parties, nothing. Not even on weekends.”
Taking a deep breath, you roll your eyes. “Billy can have time off whenever he wants. It's not my fault he doesn't want to go out with you anymore.”
“Honey, Billy goes from a girl to another, but he always comes back to me.” She puts a wicked, mean smirk on. “Because he knows I'm a hell of a good–”
“Shut up, Stacy.” Nancy cuts her off, raising her voice. “If the guy doesn't want to hang out with you anymore, just suck it up.” Your eyes go wide at Nancy's choice of words. She's changed a lot from last year, and now she stands up for herself a lot more, and for you too. “You said it yourself. He goes from one to another, so maybe your time is over.”
“And do you really think he'll pick her over me?” Stacy laughs, a finger on your face, and her two friends laugh as well. They both had Billy, you know it. “Tiny little thing, small tits, the perfect good girl who never lies, never disobey her mommy and daddy. Always have the perfect grades.” Nancy stands up and you do the same, being followed by Stacy and her stupid friends. “You think you're better than us because you never wear anything short, never show too much cleavage, never exposes yourself.”
“I never said–”
“You're a freaking prude.” She pushes your shoulder, taking her hand away as if you were dirty. “A stupid, little puritan who had the audacity of thinking you could hook up a man like Billy.”
Some guys from the team hear it, you can tell by how they hang around longer, eyes on you and the others. Nobody ever spoke to you like that, and you feel... Like your sinking. Cheeks burning and tears starting to pool in your eyes. But you're not stupid. You're not the type of girl who listens to this shit and lowers your head. “If I'm a prude, then you're a slut.” You burst out, crossing your arms. “Sleeping with a different guy every day and acting like you're all that when you're just a stupid–”
“Cow,” Nancy whispers in your ear.
“–cow.” You quickly add, shrugging your shoulders. “But I don't put my nose on your business so don't you put yours on mine.”
“You little bitch.” Stacy pushes you again, a lot harder this time, and you lose your balance, falling two steps down. Your leg gets stuck, and as you finally stop, you feel a sting on your knee. “Oh, I'm so sorry.” You hear her high-pitched voice, full of irony.
“(Y/N)!” Nancy is quick to reach you, helping you get up. “Are you alright?”
The game stopped, and you see through the corner of your eyes as the guys come closer. “I'm fine.” Your knee hurts, but still, you climb the two steps that separate you from Stacy, ignoring the pain on your leg and using all the anger you can gather to help you move, just to slap her right across the face. The hit is so strong it echoes through the gym and your palm burns. “You won't do that again.” You yell, only then letting Nancy pull you down, limping a little.
“(Y/N),” Billy calls, and the moment you turn to look at him, he picks you up, a hand on the small of your back and the other under your legs. “I'll take her to the infirmary.” He tells Nancy, clearly pissed.
“I can walk.” You mutter, glancing at Nancy. She nods and makes a gesture with her thumb and little finger, bringing them to her ear and mouth. But you won't just call her, you need to talk to her face to face.
“Even so.”
Billy is silent on the way to the infirmary, and when he leaves you on the hospital bed they have here, he excuses himself. Then you're left alone with a very curious school nurse. She makes a lot of questions you only give half answers to. But lucky for you, your knee is fine, you'll just need a bag of ice to prevent any swelling. She gives you one and tells you to get another when you get home.
“I'm not going back there, that's final.” You hear Billy talking to someone, and seconds later he comes into the infirmary. “How are you?”
“I'm fine. Just need to put some ice on it.” Billy is weird, keeping a certain distance. “Where did you go?”
“To speak with the Principal. Or else I'm sure you'd get suspended along with that bitch.”
“Thanks.”
“I'll wash the sweat away and drive you home.” And he leaves again.
As you wait, in the empty infirmary, you take the ice off your knee when it starts to burn. What's wrong with Billy? He was normal during the game, and now... A lot of possibilities go through your head. Maybe he realized this is stupid, the idea of you and him. Maybe he decided to go out with Stacy again because she gives him what you don't. But it just doesn't feel like it.
And the weird feeling in your chest gets you by surprise. It feels like a sting, a pressure. You have no idea why Billy acting distant suddenly makes you feel this way. As if you just lost something you don't even know how to get back.
“Let's go.” The voice snaps you out of your thoughts, and when you look at the clock, you see there's still half an hour of the game.
“Won't you get in trouble for leaving the game?”
“Don't worry about it.”
“D-do you think you can carry me?” The question comes out the moment he gestures for you to move. You don't know where it came from, but you just need to be closer to him. What Stacy said is still burning in your head, and part of you silently prays that this isn't the reason why Billy suddenly stepped back. So you just need to break through him, take down this wall he decided to build.
But to your relief, Billy's expression changes at your request. His face gets soft, and he nods before carefully picking you up. “I'm sorry.” He mutters, walking out of the infirmary.
“It wasn't your fault.”
“Of course it was.” He's avoiding your gaze, looking forward. It feels weird to be carried like that, and you wonder if you'll fall. But something tells you Billy wouldn't let go. His grip is firm, and he doesn't seem like he's in a hurry, since his pace is slow. “Stacy thinks she owns me because... Because what she said was true. Part of it, I mean.”
“Which part?” You softly ask, wrapping your arms around his neck.
“That I used to go back to her. In between a girl and another.” Billy's voice is heavy, and he sounds... Angry. At Stacy, maybe, or just at himself. “But it wasn't because she's good at something, it was because she was always easy. All that it took was a call, and everything I had to say was the time and place, and she would be there.”
It didn't go unnoticed that he's talking in the past, and it makes your heart beat a little faster. “And... All the rest?” Billy leaves the halls, reaching the parking lot and heading to his car.
“I don't think you're a prude.” When you get to his car, Billy puts you down and opens the door for you. “And I don't see anything wrong with the way you dress.” He pushes the door close, and your eyes follow him as he walks around the car, taking the driver's seat. “I'd comment on the part she calls you ‘small tits’ but I know you well enough not to, so...”
“Oh, shut up, B.” You giggle, running a hand through your hair.
“Buckle up, pretty girl.” He says, and that's what you do.
But the moment was just... A moment. Billy is back at being weird the entire ride, and he doesn't say anything as he carries you inside, putting you on the couch. You quickly tell your mother what happened, but you made it sound like an accident. There's no reason for her to know the rest. And when she goes upstairs, you call Billy to sit with you. But he doesn't, eyes on the floor as he stands by the coffee table.
“You could've broken your leg, you know that?” He says in a low voice, still not looking at you.
“But I didn't. And I don't understand–”
“That was on me. That was because I gave her reasons to think–”
“B, you can't blame yourself for what someone else does.” Cutting him off, you reach out your hand. “C'mon, I'm alright.”
“No.” Shaking his head, Billy finally looks up at you. “I can't do this. I can't be the reason why you get hurt.” And then, he walks away.
“Billy.” You call, but since doesn't stop, you push yourself up, limping to the door. But by the time you get there, Billy is already in his car. “Billy, don't go!” It comes out as a plead, as you feel a familiar lump in your throat. “Please...” You whisper as he drives away.
You don't know what just happened, you don't know if you did something. But there's one thing that just took you by surprise. An acknowledgment, a terrifying truth you don't want to think about.
You like Billy way more than you thought you did.
And as you push me the door close, leaning against the wall, a tear rolls down. There's a lot of things you don't understand about Billy, but you want to. You thought you were taking some walls down, growing closer to him, but now... Now you just don't know anymore.

Car Sick P1 ~ Dominic Calvert-Lewin
A/N: This is sort of carried on from this blurb I wrote a while ago, bc I loved the idea and wanted to write more for it, you should probs read that first to catch the vibes. This is for @footballffbarbiex writing challenge based on tv and film. I used this storyline from Modern Family with Gloria and Jay. Once again, no real timeline with this, just made up scenarios. I struggled with the next bit of this so I asked you how you wanted it and you chose 2 parts, here's the 1st. Enjoy :)
Warnings: pregnancy, kids, step parents, injury mention - reader is female
Summary: You thought you were just feeling car sick, turns out it's something else...
Tumblr media Tumblr media

You were dropping your daughter off at Dele's for a long weekend since he didn't have a match or training to attend. After she had squeezed the biggest hug out of her dad and trudged dirt in his hallway, she perched on the sofa with her ipad and juicebox, leaving you and Dele to catch up.
Dele had been showing you how he redecorated his kitchen so you accepted a drink and decided to stay a little while. Plus you figured the news you had for him should rather be said in person than over the phone.
"Hey, Del, I have something to tell you." You said nervously, leaning your hands on the kitchen island. He turned around and took a sip of the drink he just poured as he walked closer to the other side of the island opposite you. "Go ahead." He replied, his eyebrows knitted in concern at your worried tone.
"Well, remember when we stopped by last Friday since you were playing on her birthday?" you recollected and he nodded along. "And I had one of those herbal teas and a tablet because I was feeling car sick?" "Yeah..." he trailed off quietly, putting his drink on the counter between you. "Turns out I wasn't car sick," he frowned in confusion and looked even more lost than he did a moment ago.
You fiddled your fingers together and took a deep breath, steadying yourself. You knew you could trust Dele with absolutely anything. You'd been close since you were teenagers, grew closer when you started dating and left nothing in the way when you had a baby. Being so young when it happened meant a lot of things turned against you, a lot of people with a lot of opinions trying to dictate your lives and yet you stuck it through. You haven't been together romantically for a while, however your relationship with him never faultered, your connection of trust staying strong.
But it didn't make this any easier to say. It wasn't hard to see when Dele got hit by moments of gloom at the sight of the mini family you were creating with Dominic. While your split years ago was amicable, and neither of you would rekindle that flame again, more than happy with your close friendship, Dele couldn't stop that jealous bubble rising in him when he saw your daughter enjoy spending time with Dom as much as she does with him. Blame his stubbornness but facing change wasn't his strongest suit. This news was going to be a big step away from that picturesque life you both once envisioned together and you desperately didn't want it to drive a wedge between you nor push Dele away. You had settled into a good rhythmic system with him that suited your daughter and your schedules, you'd hate to tarnish that in any way.
So, yes, you hesitated to tell him.
You sighed and picked at your nails, needing to just get it out before it drove you crazy.
"I'm pregnant."
Dele's eyes went wide and his mouth opened a little from shock, the frown lines that creased his forehead disappearing. His breath was taken away. Nothing prepared him to hear those words come from your mouth and know that he wasn't involved. It was bound to happen but it still took him by surprise.
He tilted his head as he looked at you, nervously twiddling your thumbs like you always did, and it only took a few seconds for a smile to slowly grow on his face. "That," he cleared his throat and met your eyes with sincerity, "that's great. Congratulations."
He scuffed his socked feet along the floor as he walked round the counter to wrap you in a warm hug. He squeezed your shoulder and gave your cheek a quick kiss when he pulled away, a genuine smile on his face. No, he wasn't involved this time, but he knew how amazing it was to experience pregnancy and he was certain Dominic would take to it greatly.
"What did Dom say?" He asked, leaning over to grab his glass and take another drink. Your breath caught in your throat and that made Dele side-eye you mid sip. "You haven't told him, have you?" He questioned gently, and you shook your head.
Now it was his turn to sigh.
The glass clinked loudly in the quiet room when he put it back down, and he had a ton of questions he could have asked you and a ton of things he could have told you to do that he thought was right, but it wasn't his place. Not anymore. So he took a moment to think whilst you rubbed your hands down your front to straighten out your t-shirt again.
"Are you going to?" You tutted and looked back up at him incredulously. "Of course I am Del, think it'll be pretty hard to miss when I'll be bursting through my clothes!" You joked and he held his hands up in defence as he chuckled, realising it was a stupid question.
"Are you nervous, then?" He tried again, this time opting for something more reasonable. "More nervous than when I told you for the first time." You admitted. Dele whistled lowly and shook his head with a laugh.
The state you were in a bit under 7 years ago now when you told him you were going to have his child, it was something else. He still insists he hasn't seen someone so frantic, before or since. He could only imagine what was coming Dominic's way.
---
There were plenty of reasons for you to believe Dom would be happy to be a dad. He adored his young brother and truly enjoyed spending time with him when he was back home. He was thoughtful and attentive with all the people he knew so you know he'd be the same, multiplied by a million, when it came to a child that depended on him.
But the way he cared for your daughter above anyone else proved to you, without a doubt, how good he would be. Dom wasn't her biological father, but that never once stopped him loving her the way she deserved. Dom made sacrifices when he needed to and even when he didn't. He'd stay awake if she couldn't sleep, he'd ask to see her on facetime when he was travelling and he always asked her about school, he even did the afternoon pick up with you when he got the chance. If Dom would be such an amazing figure in the life of a little girl he had no obligation to be a part of, just imagine what he'd be like with his own child.
You wouldn't question his want or excitement to have kids with you at any time, having spoken about it before.
Any time except now.
Dom hadn't been himself the last week, and justifiably so. He picked up a knee injury in the Merseyside derby last Saturday that resulted in him hopelessly limping off the pitch with the physio under his arm to hold him up. A torn ACL was the conclusion after a couple hours in the hospital. While an injury was never welcome, a minimum six months out was tough to take. But with the upcoming England tournament he'd been called up for that he will now have to miss, alongside the rest of the Premier League season, it shattered him. His club and his country had important matches this year and it killed him to not be able to help secure some much needed wins for them.
Most of Sunday was spent doting on him, helping him relax and alleviating both his physical and mental pain, offering comfort through his favourite meals and hours of cuddles, something your daughter happily assisted with.
However, by the time Monday rolled around, his rest was stifled by your daughter's birthday party.
Despite how often you'd sat him back down, Dom wasn't used to sitting all day and had helped you decorate the house whilst your girl was at school. The balloons were littered in the front room, the buffet snacks laid out on the dining table, and the banners Dom had pinned on the ceiling blew from the gentle breeze coming in through the back door.
So by the time you pulled into the drive with a car full of young girls eager for sugar, Dom was working on half a bar of energy already. Yet he played along with the party activities and managed to dance, or more shuffle, to some Disney songs on his crutches inbetween sneaking mini sausage rolls and chocolate biscuits.
You could see him getting more tired as each kid left, but "she only turns 6 once, right?", so he persisted on keeping the party lively until your daughter was knocked out in bed, out of her party dress but still wearing the new bracelet she got from Grandma.
You trailed behind Dom with two cups of tea as he hobbled toward the sofa, barely managing to keep himself up despite it only being 9pm. He dropped heavily on the cushions in the corner and let his crutches fall on the carpet, not caring where they landed as long as they stayed within reach. The sigh that left him could have knocked down a tree.
Before you got comfortable, you put his mug on the table and put a random sitcom on the TV. Dom's eyes were closed and his legs were stretched out as best as they could be, his injured knee up on the couch in front of him with a cushion underneath and an ice pack held on top.
"I'm telling you, I feel way too old for this." He muttered just loud enough to hear. "You're only 24." You chuckled a little into your tea at his complaint.
"Yeah," he rolled his head your way, hair falling on his face, "but running after her makes me feel 70, she knocks me out," he spoke quietly but with the last tints of energy in his tone, "and with this peg leg too you gotta change that to 80."
You smiled at him sympathetically and loosely linked your fingers with his, rubbing your thumb on the back of his hand as let his eyes close again.
He was joking, it was obvious. But a niggling part of your brain told you that he wasn't just being dramatic.
Admittedly it was a tiring evening with your daughter's friends running around, but with the lack of energy left in Dom, how could a baby be added to that scenario and it not be an issue? Maybe it was the wrong time. Maybe, no definitely, getting pregnant when Dom wasn't shrouded by an injury, when he didn't have frustration on top of frustration on his shoulders, when there wasn't a hyperactive 6 year old that needed attention too - that would definitely be a better time to have a baby. But that wasn't what life had handed you. Life was a little more complicated in its ways than to give you an easy run, you knew that well enough by now.
What concerned you most was how Dom would handle it. Whilst he had picked up parenting duties well over the past couple years, he hadn't been there when your daughter was a baby, nor had he seen how tough it was on you at the time. The thought of raising another was scaring you, so it would surely terrify Dom, doing it for the first time.
Even before the time came to hold them in your arms, being pregnant was no easy deal. So how could he possibly handle the stress of an upcoming baby, the stress of having to look after 2 kids in the future, the stress of a cranky pregnant girlfriend, the stress of prepping the house and himself, all whilst he's hobbling on crutches and having to watch his teammates from the sidelines too?
You sipped your tea and let the TV fill the room as your brain ran overdrive with questioning thoughts, sitting silent next to your boyfriend who's head seemed full of only the sleep he was dreaming of, oblivious to the changes that were coming his way.

Pretty boy - Sugawara Koushi
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notes: It's his birthday today so take these hcs. I'll make an actual fic for him later on when I'm finished writing my other fics and shit.
pairing: Sugawara Koushi x gn! Reader
WARNINGS: age gape (he's 18 turning 19 and you're 19 turning 20),
Tumblr media
How y'all met:
Your mom asked you to pick up your brother Daichi and his friend (Suga) from their game since it was late.
So the game ends and you're waiting for Daichi and Suga to finish changing and getting the rest of their things so y'all can leave.
Daichi takes forever to change so Suga ended up being finished first.
Daichi just told him to go outside where you were by the door so he did.
At first, you were confused as to why he was standing so fucking close to you.
Then he saw how you were side-eyeing him and how you would scoot away every time he got the slightest bit closer so he introduced himself.
He'd heard (and seen) a lot of you. You were basically Daichi aimed to be for the majority of his life.
So he told you he was Daichi's best friend- the one you were supposed to be picking up along with Daichi.
Everything was pretty much fine after that.
It became a regular thing for him to start up conversations when he bumped into you.
And after a while of those you both had created your own bond.
Catching feelings:
He hated that he liked you, it was humiliating to him. Especially since he was about 95% sure you didn't like him.
He felt even worse since you were his best friends brother. He didn't know how Daichi would take it but something was telling him it wouldn't be well.
Especially since the last time, Daichi talked about you was the first time Suga had actually seen Daichi mad.
All he said was "jeez you're brothers fucking hot," and he was fuming about it.
So imagine how he would act if he just said "Hey yeah I like your brother," that would not go smoothly at all
So he kept it to himself. He decided that keeping it to himself and waiting for the crush to go away was the best option.
The crush "went away" after a few weeks and he was safe to start hanging out with you and Daichi again.
The feelings came back after y'all hanging out for a few hours though.
Which resulted in him telling Daichi, he didn't really care as much as Suga thought he would.
Confessing:
He didn't plan on confessing. It was extremely accidental
He had come over and you were supposed to be at university and he saw that your parents weren't home so he had just started yelling to "Daichi" about how much he liked you.
"Daichiii he called me fucking gorgeous!! Can you believe it! I'm gonna kiss him one day I swear, he's so fucking cute oh my fucking gods he's so perfect ugh!!"
"Daichi? Where the hell are you?!" he says storming around the house "DAICHI!" he roams the entire house before storming up the stairs.
Bursting into his friend's room and seeing you on your little brothers' bed.
He just stood there. At first, he thought he was dreaming but then he remembered that he slipped on ice before entering the house.
So he just stood there using the if I don't move and I can't see him then he won't see me tactic.
He started crying after you said his name though. Like full on sobbing because not only was he embarrassed as fuck but he also had just unintentionally confessed his undying love for you at the same time.
So he was sobbing and you comforted him. He stopped after a few minutes and you both talked everything out.
You both decided that you didn't want to start dating right away.
First date:
After a month or two you both ended up going on your first date.
He was really nervous.
He didn't know how to act on the date so he was mad awkward in the beginning.
But he ended up treating it like it was just a regular hang out in the end but with holding hands and stuff like that.
He had a lot of fun. Y'all went to the movies and to the arcade.
Y'all went to your house after. He had gotten hungry again so you made him dinner.
Then you both watched a few more movies while cuddling.
By the time you were both finished, it was close to 3am and you were both exhausted so he just stayed the night.
He slept in Daichi's room so he could tell him about the date and stuff.
Then they stayed up 'till 5 talking about the date and other random shit.
Daichi threatened you both that if you hurt one another he would fight y'all.
Pre-time skip:
When you would be home on your vacation he would tell you about high school drama.
He used to make you watch bob ross with him.
Your house was basically his second home so he would come over whenever he wanted.
Late-night baking was damn near an everyday thing for the both of you. Especially on weekends, y'all would be baking like y'all gon die if y'all don't bake.
Late-night drives were a huge thing in both your platonic and romantic relationship. Especially when he got his drivers license he would just randomly pick you up since university was only a little under an hour away.
He plays with your fingers a lot. He does it even more if you wear rings.
He lays directly on top of you like a starfish but on top of you.
He'll do random trust falls at the worst times. Like you'll be in the middle of cleaning or something and he'll just fall back and almost hit his head on your dresser.
I think he has cousins that he's really close to like siblings type close. And I think that they would love you so much.
Post-time skip:
The kids love you at his job. He'll bring you in for career day and the kids will just be all over you.
If/when y'all get kids he's like the best dad ever. He's so sweet and kind and lovely.
He's the type of parent that gave their kid all the good snacks and everyone wanted to trade with them at lunch.
When he brings the kid to his school the teachers are in love they're just completely showering them in compliments.
He visits you a lot at work.
He also likes giving you massages.
Valentines and Christmas are his favourite holidays to spend with you.

[Previous chapter] - [Next chapter]
Part 5
It had been a week since you had seen Zemo. You hadn't seen your friend at all either. You had tried to contact her a couple of times, but after receiving no responses, you gave up. It still didn't sit right with you that she and Stark were a thing.
You were currently at work. You were on the afternoon shift today. You could handle the afternoon crowd easier than the morning crowd. It wasn't your usual shift, so your usual co-workers weren't here to banter with.
You were wiping down the counter when a customer approached. You wipe your hands on the towel over your shoulder and turn to take their order, only to stop.
"Zemo?"
He stands there smiling. He was wearing slacks with a button up shirt. He looked very smart, yet so laid back.
"Hello Y/N."
"What are you doing here?"
"Not happy to see me?" He grins.
"I am, it's just... I didn't expect to see you before the race."
He chuckles as he orders something to drink.
"I couldn't wait much longer. I wanted to see your world." He glances around the cafe. It was a nice place. Classy and clearly a good place for groups to hang out.
"Well this is it. I make drinks for people." You make him his drink and hand it over. He pays for it there.
"I like it. It suits you, but I think you'd fit into my world just fine."
You laugh, "not that I'd be of any use in your world. I can barely change a tyre."
That makes him chuckle.
"I'm sure there would be something for you."
You shake your head with a smile.
"Oh, it's your lucky day by the way. My boss happens to be a fan of yours, so I have next weekend off for the races."
"Ah, lucky me indeed." He looks very smug right now. You shake your head, grinning.
"Just this once. I can't take every weekend off."
"Well that's no good. I need you for all my races," he says, stating it like a fact.
"You don't need me. You just want me there for some reason."
Zemo leans on the bar and looks at you softly. He has a small soft smile on his face. You were right in every way.
"Yes, I do want you there."
"I don't see why."
"I like you," he says with ease, confidence oozing from him as he grins at you.
You laugh softly.
"You're so..."
"Handsome? Charming? Dashing?"
"So funny."
You both laugh softly.
"I should get back to work before my manager catches me chatting up the customers," you say, glancing over your shoulder.
"Oh? Do you flirt with others then?"
"Only the good looking ones," you stick your tongue out at him. He winks and takes a seat at a table near by. Though there is literally plenty for him to do, he chooses to watch you work instead.
This was you in your element. Life passing more slowly, more safely.
There was serenity in this life style. Something he couldn't provide through his. He couldn't guarantee anything, as much as he would like to pretend.
There was always that risk.
Risks such greater than anything you could ever face here. He looked down at his half empty cup of coffee. Maybe he shouldn't ever ask you.
You bid goodbye to your customer, and looked over at Zemo. You smiled at him. He smiled back. He finished his coffee and got up from his table.
"That was lovely, though I do have a particular fondness for tea."
You chuckle.
"We serve tea too."
He smiles.
"When do you finish?" He asks.
You look up at the clock on the wall.
"Two more hours. Why don't you go look around the town or something."
"I think I will. I'll pick you up later, no arguing," he winks at you and makes his exit. You smile as you clear his table.
Zemo walks through the town you live in. It's nice, pretty. Again, it suits you perfectly.
Looking around, he almost feels homesick. There was nothing left of the place he once called home. He shakes those thoughts from his mind.
Something catches his attention up ahead. A limo. It stands out vastly against the rest of the cars on the street. Far too sleek, shiny, and expensive for anyone around here.
It irks him that he has a bad feeling about it.
From up the road, he watches as the man he dreaded steps out. Tony Stark put on his shades before holding his hand out for someone. A pretty young lady climbs out of the limo.
Something about her strikes Zemo as familiar. He can't pinpoint from where though.
Zemo watches as Stark closes the limo door and takes the young lady into boutique behind them.
What was Tony Stark doing here?
Zemo had made the trip for you. He had his excuse to be here instead of down at the track. Tony, however, didn't.
Zemo headed over to where he was stood across the street, though he couldn't quite see through the store window display.
He had to make himself scarce before Stark came out again. He didn't want Tony seeing him. As he walked away, he didn't let go of the thought that he had seen that girl before.
Zemo was back at the cafe at the end of your shift like he said he would be. The car he was driving was another one from his collection. He opened the door for you and climbed in once you were safely in his car.
As he drove to your address, which he flirted with you for, his mood changed to something a little more serious. Concerned, you had to ask him what happened in those 2 hours he was alone.
"Are you alright?"
He glances at you.
"Yes, why?"
"You're clutching the steering wheel rather tightly and your jaw is locked again. What's on your mind?"
"I saw Stark here in town."
You swallow awkwardly.
"Did he see you?"
"No. I saw him. He was with someone." He glances at you as you shift in your seat. Now it was turn to be concerned. "What is it?"
"That's my friend. Remember when she called me at the airstrip? She told me she was going to meet me at the train station and tell me something big. Well, when we got out, Tony Stark was there with a limousine. Apparently the news was she is daring him. They had met that night after the first race, he had asked her out and she agreed."
You couldn't look at him.
Zemo, keeping an eye on the road, reached over and placed his hand on your knee. Your eyes flickered to his hand. His touch was warm and comforting.
"She won't talk to me now. When we got to my place, I had asked her about it. She got defensive and shut me off."
His thumb rubs circles on your leg.
"You don't think this is some kind of stunt do you?" You ask, looking up at him.
"I don't know, but I wouldn't put it past him. It's not the first time he's done something big for publicity."
You want to ask, but something else comes to mind.
"They haven't made it public yet."
"I assume he'll make his move at the next race. Cameras everywhere there." He glances at you.
That makes sense.
"Are you bothered about it?" You ask, looking at him from the corner of your eye.
"No. What Stark does for publicity is his problem. The question, does it bother you?"
"Yes," you state honestly, "because I can't tell if it's real, or if she's being carried away by the fantasy of dating her favourite pro racer. I looked into racing as much as I possibly could before that second race. I tried to get some background on the racers, you included, but Stark seems to thrive on being in the spotlight. He wins over and over again, he trots around the globe to meet people and race his cars. He is always making headlines somewhere."
Zemo gave a nod. He was aware. It was because he kept seeing Stark pop up everywhere that he became a pro racer himself.
"You're worried about your friend. That is understandable."
"I'm worried for her if it's not real."
He glances at you. It's as he is sitting there, hand on your knee, glancing at you as he listens to you, that the thought returns to him. Helmut Zemo is not a man who plays around with people's feelings. If this was you two, there would be no other way than for him to be honest and true to you.
As a man who had lost everything in the past, he would never do that to you.
He takes his hand back as reaches your destination. Your apartment building was a nice little thing. You were up on the 3rd floor.
"Do you want to come in?"
He smiles.
"Yes, I do."
You chuckle. You both get out and you lead him up to your apartment. You smile nicely at your neighbours as you pass them, hoping they don't question the handsome man trailing behind you. No one seemed to recognise him, so that worked in your favour.
You let him into your apartment first.
"It's not much, but it's home."
The apartment wasn't huge, but spacious enough for one person. It was decorated nicely, every little thing a reflection of you. There was a bit of clutter here and there, but it was clear you looked after your space.
"I like it."
"Can't imagine the kind of place you live in. Bet it's a lot nicer than this." You head into the kitchen to make him some tea.
"Perhaps a little bigger, it's no castle."
You chuckle softly and set out two cups.
Zemo glances around at the photos on display. You don't have a lot, but he's curious to see what they are.
"Can I ask you something?" He asks, not looking away from a photo of you and your friend.
"Of course."
"When you were researching the racers, what did you find on me?"
You let the kettle boil as you look at his back.
"Not much, I'll be honest. I didn't want to ask about it, but there was something, if you'll let me."
He halts his movements and wonders what you found. It couldn't be, could it?
"What is it?"
"You're from Sokovia, right?"
He relaxes. Zemo turns slowly and smiles, but there isn't much emotion behind it.
"Yes. I was."
You nibble at your lip softly.
"I'm sorry."
"You have nothing to apologise for," he says, walking over to you.
"Still, I remember hearing about it on the news. It was everywhere for a while. I can't imagine losing my home country."
Zemo reaches over and takes your hand in his. You wouldn't vocalise the fact you realised he was being a lot more physical today. You enjoyed the feel of his touch.
"Thank you for your kindness, but you don't need to worry. I am happy where I am now."
You smile at one another. The kettles clicks off, you reluctantly let go of his hands, missing their warmth. You turn around to see to the tea.
"There really wasn't much else about you online. You're a mystery to me, Zemo."
He smiles.
"Makes me all the more interesting, yes?"
You laugh softly.
"I suppose it does."
You hand him one of the cups and you both go sit down. You face one another on the sofa, enjoying the tea you had made. You watched the way he closed his eyes and took a sip.
"This is very good."
"What can I say? I'm a professional," you joke.
"I believe you."
"So, the race." You smile, sitting up and leaning forward a little. Zemo laughed. It was sweet how excited you were about it, considering you hadn't had an interest before... well, before him.
"I can I take you to the race myself?" He asks, reading your face for a response.
"Take me? Isnt6that going to be a hassle? Going there, coming back, and then going back again?"
"I'll do it for you," he grins mischievously.
"You're doing it again."
"Doing what?" He asks.
"Flirting with me."
"Of course I am. You haven't told me to stop," he tells you.
You smile shyly at him. That was true.
"You should focus on your car, I'll be there. I promise."
He shakes his head subtly.
"Too late, I've made up my mind. I'll be here to pick you up the day before. You can stay with me over the weekend. Sound like a plan?"
You look at him, trying to see if this was just him teasing you, but you don't see anything like that. If anything, those beautiful brown eyes of his are almost pleading for you to agree.
"Alright."
His smile is so full of joy, your heart feels like it could burst. He looked so handsome smiling like that.
"Then I best be on my way. I have some thing to plan before the weekend." Zemo put his empty cup down and got up. You did the same and showed him to the door.
You see him out, but before he leaves your apartment completely, he leaves you with a kiss on the cheek. He doesn't say anything as he walks away.
You're left a smiling blushing mess.

You didn't really know how you'd gotten to this point in your life. How you had ended up in a band with four people you'd give the world to, it all still seemed like a fever dream. Most mornings you'd wake up either on a tour bus or in a hotel room miles from home wondering if this was your real-life and it wasn't until you were sat at breakfast with your bandmates that you realized how grateful you were for the twists and turns that had led to your crazy life.
Some days you'd play shows and feel like you were on top of the world, rocking out on stage with your best friends. Some nights the views from the airplanes you'd grown used to being on took your breath away for so long you were afraid you'd actually imagined it all. That all the cameras flashing and fans screaming out lyrics you'd written with the four guys on stage next to you were a figment of your imagination and you'd wake up one day to find it all gone.
"Hey, I know you don't love hiking but...I'm sure we'll make it fun," Calum's voice rang out in the car, bringing you back to the moment at present, "And I'll be there to tell you all the jokes and point out cool rocks," he said with a wink.
Calum Hood. You'd turned your head to face him, the California sun was hitting his skin and making him glow. His bright smile adorning his face as the sunglasses he was wearing slid down his nose to reveal those brown eyes you'd fallen for. His soft voice and gentle teasing bringing warmth to your stomach that always seem to linger whenever you two were alone. It was something that you thought you'd kept to yourself, a little secret, but the comments online only left you a blushing mess.
If you were being honest, you'd been in love with Calum since the first months you'd spent with the band, getting to know each other and making sure you'd be a good fit into the group. those weeks had been filled with outings together where all five of you would spend hours on end telling stories about growing up and then laughing over how the internet blew up when they introduced you to their fanbase. But those few weeks were also spent trying your best to not make a fool of yourself in front of Calum, who seemed to always be at the right place whenever you stumbled or when your voice would crack while you were practicing alone.
You two had clicked instantly, both stuck to each other's hip as you took on the world. You'd write together, spending hours on a couch drafting out possible songs and humming along to tracks that had potential in matching the band's sound. You'd even become neighbors at one point when you'd first moved into the city to be closer for band work. He'd helped you move into the apartment next to his and you'd spent many weekends at each other's place, laughing over the awkward silences when you'd both caught each other glancing for a few seconds too long.
So you were in love with your bandmate, your best friend, with Calum Hood. How bad could it be?
Apparently, very bad. You and Calum had never been the subtle type and although you both pretty much knew there was more than friendship between you two, no one made a move to make it more. Ashton had asked you once when you two had gone out for lunch after a studio session.
"I just can't understand why you two haven't already gotten over it and got together. You'd thought about it, he's thought about it. Just do it," Ashton huffed, shaking his head as he watched you tense up and shake your head.
"The band is what's important, Ash. We can't let our feelings get in the way of fucking up what all five of us have created. He knows that and I do too," you'd replied, laughing quietly as Ashton only shook his head and mumbled something under his breath.
But Ashton was always one to try and make others happy in his own special way. And that's how you found yourself in the car with Calum on the way out of the city for a hike you were less than excited about. You knew Ashton was up to something when he'd texted the group saying that you and Calum would have to drive to the trail together since you wouldn't fit in his car with Luke, Mike, and their partners. As a form of payback, you'd purposefully told Calum to pick you up thirty minutes after the original time to make sure you were the last ones to get there because there was nothing more than Ashton hated than being late. And that's how you found yourself driving out of the city with Calum, lost in your own head over how beautiful he looked.
"Mhm, you always make things fun," you chuckled and winked back at him, "We're gonna need it especially now that we're late and Ashton will definitely kill us."
The hike had gone surprisingly good considering three of you were not the most athletics and Luke and Michael had constantly been racing seeing who could go the farthest faster. Ashton had tried his best to keep everyone on track until you and Calum had teased him about being the mom friend as he'd set up his phone on a rock to shoot an update video for fans to let them know about the band had been up to. It had all been going according to plan until you moved closer to Calum and twisted your ankle, ending up on the floor staring up at the blue sky.
"Oh my god, I'm going to die. Just leave me here to die because I'm not making it," you cried out, "This is the end of me!"
In a matter of seconds since your back had hit the ground, four familiar faces hovered above you, one of them looking more concerned than the others. The pain shot through your spine and down your leg, your eyes closing as you tried to stop the tears from falling down your cheeks. Soon enough you found yourself being lifted up from the ground and a warm body pressed against your back. You could hear all the guys fighting over what to do, which meant your ankle wasn't twisted backward since none of them had screamed or puked their guts out. Their voices all mumbled into one as you breathed through the pain and it wasn't until Calum's warm breath was hitting your ear that you felt yourself take a deep breath in and open your eyes.
"I'm gonna stay here with you until Ash and the others can get a ranger to bring a car or something like that, okay?" he mumbled softly, his hand rubbing at your back as he helped you sit back against a rock.
"Please don't let my leg fall off, I need it to run on stage and to kick Michael when he steals my food," you whined.
"That's not gonna happen, okay? I think you just twisted it and it's all going to be okay, sweet girl," Calum mumbled and kissed your forehead, "Promise."
The sun was still high in the sky by the time you started thinking Ashton had left you both in the desert. You'd both been sitting on the ground together, watching as  your ankle grew and grew in size as the time passed by. The pain had dulled and your head was resting on his shoulder when your brain had started to think of the worst.
"You know, this wouldn't have happened if you were Australian. Us Aussies are known for our athleticism," Calum chuckled as he nudged your side with his elbow, "It's a well-known fact."
"I can do a better Australian accent than all four of you," you scoffed, rolling your eyes as you smacked his thigh, "And I can outrun pretty much all of you except Ash."
"Except right now."
"Calum Hood, I swear if you don't stop making fun of me-"
"What? Are you gonna hit me again? I dare you-"
You don't know what came over you. Maybe it was the heat of the sun beaming down on you both. Or maybe the fact that you were thirsty since Michael had taken the only backpack with water with him before you two realized it but Calum's lips looked very nice and it took no self-restraint for you to lean in and stop him mid-sentence.
"Maybe you should twist your ankle more often, huh?" Calum chuckled as you both pulled away, "Or bully you more often."
"Shut up and kiss me again, idiot," you laughed and pulled him back in for another kiss.
"Who knew all I had to do was get you two alone on a hiking trail for you to finally kiss, huh?" Ashton's chuckled made you both pull away, making you both look like a deer caught in headlights.
"Oh shut up, I'm never going on a hike with any of you again," you huffed and gratefully took the park ranger’s hand as he helped you on to what looked like a golf car.
It was a short trip back to the medical center, where they treated your very swollen ankle with ice while you downed all the water you could get your hands on. But you were grateful that Calum hadn't left your side once, his hand in yours as you squeezed it whenever you'd hit a bump or when the park ranger wrapped your ankle. His hand was still in yours as you both drove back to the city and it never left yours even when you both laid on the couch in his living room that night, drifting off in each other's company for once accepting that maybe, just maybe, this could be more than just stolen glances.

Flames.
"You are really gonna wear that?" Mosi looks her friend up and down.
"Yeah, why?" MacKenzie tugs at her jersey. Of course she was going to wear it. Opening night, only hockey jersey she owned. Was a Christmas gift from her parents last year. She did a little twirl to show it off to the group of unamused friends.
"Because..." Drew rolls his hands and she rolls her eyes.
"Laissez les bons temps rouler!" Remy waves his hands in the air.
"That means, Let..." MacKenzie starts.
"Let the good times roll! We know.” Drew and Mosi say in unison.
"Alright, Mac is going to be wearing that. Remy has clearly pre-gamed. Mosi should’ve. We have our tickets and I'm driving so let's go." Drew starts herding the friend group out of MacKenzie's condo.
Opening night at Pepsi Center was always an event. MacKenzie and Drew got tickets from their volunteer efforts so the group headed out for their first time ever. They had gone to a Rockies game after Remy moved to Denver but normally the friend group didn't really do sporting events as outings.
“Is someone gonna explain these rules?” Remy plopped down from his first beer run with Drew and handed MacKenzie one. Eyeing her for the answer.
“Yeah. Kinda like soccer. You know?” She started. Knowing she was the only one who knew anything about hockey. “You can yell, cheer, boo. Doesn't really matter because no one really pays attention to the crazy you say.” The group all nod and she knows they will just clap when those around them do.
“So pizza-Jeep boy is wearing what color?” Mosi whisper yells while leaning into MacKenzie’s side during warmups.
“He’s in the blue and maroon jersey. The white is the Flames.” MacKenzie doesn’t take her eyes off the ice looking for Nathan to point him out but feels Mosi’s eyes on her. “Yes, Mo?”
“But… um... never mind.” Mosi stutters strangely.
"There he is." Kenzie ignores and points to the screen where they have a close up of Nathan showing his stats from the previous season.
The game starts which quieted the group’s chatter while everyone but Kenzie tried following the puck and going from watching the ice to the screen and back.
“Let’s go boys!” MacKenzie stands and yells after a big play with everyone in her section turning to look at her.
“Mac!” Drew pulls her down to her seat. “Check your surroundings.”
“You know I don’t care, right?” MacKenzie starts clapping again with a little cheer.
“As always, you do you.” Drew slow claps along as the game progresses.
Even though MacKenzie warned her friends that there might be only a goal or two, the game was high scoring which the friends all enjoyed. Remy cheered when anyone scored regardless of team. Colorado winning made the home crowd pumped and buzzing about being the year.
"We realize the season has over 80 games, right?" Kenzie comments to no one in particular as they head down the stairs.
“Food! Real food and drinks that don’t cost a million bucks.” Mosi begs on the way out.
“Allons! Let’s go!” Remy points to the closest restaurant he can see. "That one! Onward." Remy leads the group over.
Drinks, food, laughter fill the table as they banter back and forth.
“Isn’t that her, Mac?” MacKenzie hears someone nearby. She turns to see Nathan, Cale and a few more guys at a table about ten feet away. Nathan nods. She raises her hand then quickly feels the blood rushing to her face.
“Kenzie Lou, why are you the same color as your jersey?” Remy looks her up and down.
“Oh.” Drew mumbles with his mouth full seeing the table MacKenzie just waved towards.
“Oh yeah, this is gonna be fun!” Mosi clapped and is greeted with a kick under the table. “Ouch. Well it is.”
MacKenzie huffs and stands to her feet. Inhales and walks right over to the table of what she assumed was full of professional hockey players.
“Nice game Nathan.” She stops right at the end of his table and knows her face is still bright red.
“Looks like you were rooting for the other team there. Sorry 'bout that.” One of the boys down the table barks out.
“Hi MacKenzie. Thanks. Were you there? At the game, I mean.” Nathan turns his body towards her.
“Yes. Got tickets because of the foundation thing so we all went.” She gestures towards her eager looking friends. They wave and Nathan waves back with a flick of his wrist.
“Oh cool. So you are a… a Calgary fan?” Nathan gulps hard taking in the home Flames jersey.
“Well, a Tkachuk fan, actually. Yeah.” MacKenzie looks over at the 19 on her shoulder. “He was phenomenal last… ya'll. Well. Yeah.” MacKenzie looks around the amused players and shuts up.
“Sorry, let me introduce you. Guys, this is the other Mac. MacKenzie. Uh. Shit. I never caught your last name.” Nathan looks at her searching for a name.
“Blackwood.” MacKenzie answers and the guy across from Nate spits out his drink. “Um.” She just looks at him.
Nate wipes his face and stares down his teammate. “Are you fucking serious, EJ?”
“Sorry man.” EJ hands him another napkin. “No teeth.” He flashes his massive gap which makes MacKenzie giggle softly and Nathan groan.
“Let me get this straight. You live in Cale and Tyson’s building, volunteer with youth, only seem to follow Tkachuk 'cause you don't seem to know Avs hockey.” He wipes his mouth to continue. MacKenzie recognizes him as the captain from the game. “Have the same name as a goalie in the league, and are giving my boy, Nate here a run for his money.” Gabe winks with a sinister smile.
“Wait what?” MacKenzie puts her fingers to the bridge of her nose.
“What he means is…” Nate starts and MacKenzie places a finger up to stop him.
“No the goalie thing. I’m choosing to ignore the last part for now.” She says which gets a reaction from the entire table.
“Mackenzie Blackwood is a goalie in New Jersey. You happen to have the same name.” Nate explains.
“Gotcha. I’ll be honest, I catch games when I can but it’s background noise.” MacKenzie still feels her cheeks on fire but doesn’t let it stop her. “I will go to a Flames games if I'm in town when they play ya'll then a Blues game when I’m home with my dad and brother. Most of my hockey following is checking stats or social media.” She takes a deep breath not wanting to look directly at the table that all seem mesmerized by her presence. “Anyway, just wanted to say hi, which I did. So…. Nice game gentleman. Enjoy your post game dinner. Good seeing you again Nate. Cale.” MacKenzie nods and turns on her heals to her friends who haven’t touched their food since she left.
"Kenzie Lou!" Remy softly squeals.
"Don't." MacKenzie grits her teeth.
"What the hell did you talk to an entire table of NHL players about?" Mosi ignores her friend's request.
"I guess I have the same name as a goalie in the league." She annoyingly answers.
Drew starts typing before anyone can respond. "Oh yes. Mackenzie Blackwood. K not capitalized. Canadian. 22. New Jersey rookie who started last year. Wait, how does that happen?" Drew looks at MacKenzie's face . "Later. I'll google it later."
"Could we eat please?" MacKenzie takes a drink of her water and starts to finish her meal. She feels a ping on her phone and turns it over to read the notification.
Nathan's i-phone wants to airdrop you. Accept?
MacKenzie looks over and he nods at the phone. She looks back to accept and sees a screenshot from his notes apologizing for being awkward and asking for her number. She seems confused.
"Kenz?" Mosi questions.
"He wants my number." MacKenzie whispers.
"I'm confused." Remy whispers back.
"Found my phone on airdrop. Smart at least." MacKenzie chuckles.
"So airdrop your digits back to him or I will." Mosi pulls her phone out. "I just need to turn on mine. Who keeps it on? You, of course you do Mac." Mosi looks at Kenzie amused.
"Should I?" MacKenzie pulls at her loose curl wrapping it around her finger and letting it bounce back.
"YES!" Drew almost yells. "What could it hurt? Have a new contact for work at the least." Drew knew exactly what would get MacKenzie to send her number. She looks down to see Remy had written down her number on his napkin. The man always had a pen on him.
"Snap this to 'em." Remy pushed it over so MacKenzie did just that. Almost throwing her phone down as soon as she did. It buzzed not even a minute later.
Maybe Nate: Hi Mackenzie. This is Nate.
MacKenzie: Hi Nate. You can call me Kenzie or Mac
Nate: Okay Kenzie.
She looks up at him and he smiles wide.
Kenzie: enjoy your dinner
Nate: Same. I’ll text you later
She didn’t expect to hear from Nate but the next morning while getting ready for work, MacKenzie hears her text notification.
Nate: good morning. We are off Sunday and a few of us are playing cards at Cale’s place. Would you and your friends want to come over? It’s not far for you.
She stares at the text and starts to pace. Then sends out a group text.
Kenzie: Nate and some of the Avs want us to come over Sunday. Thoughts?
MacKenzie got all three messages immediately in return.
Mosi: obviously yes
Drew: yes is the only answer
Remy: fuck ya!
MacKenzie sent a text to Nate saying yes and asked what they could bring. She wasn't surprised Nate said nothing just themselves.
Sunday rolled around. MacKenzie and her friends walked down to Cale’s condo. She stopped in front of the door and Drew reached over her to knock. Kenzie looked up at him.
"What, just making sure we don't have to stand here forever." The door swung open as Drew finishes his statement.
“Nate, they are here and at least she’s not in a Flames jersey today.” The curly haired guy MacKenzie knew was Tyson from a quick google search of the team over the weekend.
“Decided to leave that at home, Tyson, but I can go get it.” MacKenzie points while giving him a half smile.
“Oh, and she...” Tyson turns to see Nathan behind him. “And she knows my name.”
“Sorry, don’t mind him. He got checked a little too hard at practice this morning.” Nathan pulls Tyson back into the condo. “Come in please.” He gestured and they moved past Nathan into the condo that was the mirror image of MacKenzie’s just slightly larger.
"Make yourselves comfortable." Cale popped his head out from the kitchen. "I'm sure you know where everything is."
"Yeah, just backwards." MacKenzie looks down the hall to the rooms. "Two or three?"
"Three. You?" MacKenzie raises two fingers and realizes her friends have already made their way into the living room.
"Thanks for coming." Nate was still standing behind her and she jumped.
"Thanks for inviting us. My mother tells me I need to make more friends here." MacKenzie sighs.
"Same actually. Tells me the team isn't enough." Nathan looks over her at his friends that were also his coworkers.
"Work, travel, and such keep my circle small." MacKenzie admits. "Oddly, same. You travel for work?" Nathan pushes his hands into his pockets and leans against the wall.
"I do then try to do different things for fun, you know?" She leans against the other wall.
"That's cool. Where are you heading next?"
MacKenzie's mind normally would be racing. Thinking of all the reasons why she shouldn't tell this essential stranger her work schedule but something about him made her feel easy. Maybe how he had more to lose if he burnt her. He didn't know what she did for a living but she could make his life miserable. Maybe it was the simplicity of their conversation or the kindness in his eyes. She felt like she could talk to him.
"Colorado Springs then off to Washington D.C. for the rest of the week and into next week." She answered him.
"Oh, I think we are in D.C. next weekend or maybe the beginning of the week." He stares at his foot kicking the invisible dirt then looked back up at MacKenzie.
"We are. Now are you two just gonna talk in the hall or are you gonna play cards here?" Gabe leans around the corner. "We've already gotten to know Kenzie's friends... let's go!" He gives Nate a look that doesn't go unnoticed. The two walk into the living room.
“Do I need to make introductions?” Nate looks around the room at all the eyes on both of them.
“Well, I googled ya’ll in preparation for today… so… I think I’m good.” She scans the room and sees a few of the girlfriends or wives. “Well, I don’t know the ladies.”
Nate took a moment to identify the few sitting around the room and who they belonged to. Pulling out an empty chair for MacKenzie. “Here, you can play here.” She sat down and pulled her legs up criss crossed under her as Gabe explained the rules. The group played poker until there were four left. JT, Nathan, MacKenzie, and Mosi. Mosi kept saying she accidentally won her table which made the competitive men agitated but made MacKenzie amused. Eventually it was just Nathan and MacKenzie.
“Kenzie, I think you and Nate need a wager of some sort.” Drew drops a bottle of water next to her and she glares up at him.
“I’m game.” Nate pipes up.
“Okay, so what if I win?” Kenzie takes a sip of water.
“Glass seats at the game of your choice.” Gabe declares.
“Okay, and if Nate wins?” Kenzie directs her attention to the captain who now has his hands on Nathan’s shoulders.
“You go out to dinner with him.” Gabe squeezes Nathan’s shoulders and smiles at Kenzie.
“Uh…” Nathan tries to nervously interject.
“That’s fine.” Kenzie tries to control her blush by not directly looking at Nathan then overcomes it to look right into his soft eyes. "Let's play."
Cale starts to deal and everyone can feel the shift of all eyes on the table even though most had scattered once they were knocked out in individual conversations. After three hands, Nathan goes all in.
"I think he's bluffing." MacKenzie whispers and pushes all her chips to the center.
"Kenzie..." He breathes out and Gabe's hand returns to his shoulder.
They place their cards down and Nathan wins with a full house. The cheers start and Nathan just stares at Kenzie who gives him a small smile. She gets up and heads to the kitchen to grab a drink. Finding Cale's rum and starts pouring more than necessary into her diet coke. Takes a drink and feels someone behind her.
"Drew, I'm not that competitive." She doesn't even turn around.
"It's not Drew." Nate murmurs.
MacKenzie turns around slowly. "Sorry. Nice game." She raises her glass to him.
"We don't have to go out for dinner, you know." Nathan shifts his weight.
"Well, a deal is a deal, right?" Kenzie tries not to breath him in as he reaches around her for a water but he smells amazing. He shrugs his shoulders. "If I won, would I have glass seats?" She leans into the counter.
"Yes, you can still have them if you want." Nate fiddles with the bottle, flicking at the paper label.
"So, dinner. When we both get back in town, okay?" Kenzie takes a sip and looks up at Nathan.
"Yes, I'll have my people call your people then." Nathan laughs.
"So Gabe will call Mosi?" MacKenzie bites her cheek with her comeback.
"Oooorrrr... I'll just text you." Nathan replies.
MacKenzie takes a drink again and winces with the burn. "That works too."

She wasn't sure why she was here. Well, she was, Sigrid's baby brother was getting married this weekend. Her family followed many old norse traditions (never mind the fact that his fiance was Christian) so weddings in their family were a big deal. When her brother, Sihtric, called Sigrid to tell her the news he all but begged her to come home for the wedding.
They were the only family that mattered, In each other's eyes, it was a big deal for her to go home.
So she did.
Sihtrics' fiance made plans for the wedding party to stay in the same house for the whole weekend. The wedding party included all their friends… all of which are either married or dating each other.
One, then, would understand just how awkward it is when Sigrid finds out she'll be sharing a room with the only other single person in the party.
Her brother's best friend, Finan.
She didn't know much about the guy other than the fact that they went to Uni together, and that she just beat him out for best man.
Talk about being set up for disaster.
"Sigrid, I didn't realize you would make it in time," Sihtric tried to apologize privately after his fiance, Ealhswith, broke the news, but Sigrid just wasn't having it, "Maybe we'll ask one of the guys to just.. double up or something."
"Your entire wedding party is couples, Sihtric, you can't just ask them to not share a room with their partner," Sigrid argued as she slumped into a chair in her brothers' suite, "I can go to a hotel, it's fine."
"You're my sister, I want you here," Sihtric told her with a sad look, "Let me talk to Finan when he gets here."
"Tell me the room has a couch, at least?" Sigrid asked him and the look he gave her was not very comforting, "Why are you like this?"
"It's one weekend, Sigrid, please! I get married tomorrow," Sihtric walked over to his sister and got on one knee as he begged her, "all you have to do is play nice-"
"I am always nice!" Sigrid argued with a smirk across her face, but seeing the puppy dog look on her brother's face was enough for her to oblige, "Fine! I'll share the room, but he's sleeping on the floor."
"Thank you, Sigrid!" Sihtric smiles as he jumps to hug her, making the chair fall over.
Sigrid laughed as they fell, hugging him back, "Alright, alright! Let's get going, I need a drink!"
"I'm sure Ealhswith has started the party without us," Her brother laughs as they both get up, and fix the chair before heading down to the main living space of the house
————————————<3—————————————
Finan gets to the house last and everyone is starting to drink without him. Since everyone is drinking, no one sees him sneak in, finding Uhtred in the kitchen.
Uhtred was another groomsman, as well as Sihtric's cousin.
"Uhtred?" Finan questions as he finds his friend, who smiles at the sight of him, "Good lord, what have you done to your hair?"
The last he saw his friend, Uhtred had long hair with the sides shaved and the rest shoved in a high ponytail. Now that was gone too and the long hair cut short.
"Ah, Gisela did not want me to look like a heathen for my cousin's wedding," Uhtred chuckles as he greets his friend with a handshake, "How was the drive?"
"Long," Finan huffs with a smile, "Where's my room? I need to change."
"Your room," Uhtred snickered as he pulled out a bunch of shot glasses from a cabinet, "Someone should have been here earlier.. you would have had a better pick."
Finan scrunches his brows, "Why- where am I?"
Uhtred glances his way and shrugs, turning back to what he was doing, "You should be asking who you are with."
"Seriously? Sihtric wants me to share a room?" Finan questioned Uhtred, who snickers his breath as he found a bottle and started to pour them shots, "With who? No one else is staying here."
"The best man," Uhtred explained with a smirk on his lips, "You'll be fine."
Finan took one of the shots and downed it quickly, Uhtred already filling his glass, "I thought Sihtrics' best man wasn't coming tonight?"
"Apparently they made the flight," Uhtred tells him as he puts the rest of the shots on a tray to carry to the other room.
Finan didn't know much about the man who managed to upstage him as best man for his best friend's wedding, other than they were siblings. One he hadn't seen in a long time. It's hard to be mad at being picked over family, except for when you've known the guy for 5 years, and not once has he mentioned having a brother.
But it was not Finan's wedding, it was Sihtrics'.
Uhtred and Finan make their way into the main living room just as Sihtric and a woman Finan has never seen before enters the room. Sihtric drags her closer to the group of couples who make up the rest of the wedding party, and points to the woman, "Everyone, you remember my sister? Sigrid, this is the rest of the wedding party."
A sister?
Finan only learned about a brother… but a sister? He had no idea.
"It's nice to see everyone, again," Sigrid says with a chuckle and a slight wave, looking around at everyone in the room.
As her eyes meet Finan's, he can feel his heart drop to his feet. She's fucking gorgeous.
Uhtred puts the tray of shots down on the coffee table in the middle of the room, and everyone else reaches over to grab a shot.
"Wait!" Uhtred shots before anyone has a chance to take their shot, "Perhaps the maid of honor and best man should say a few words?"
Gisela; Uhtred's wife and Ealhswith's maid of honor, is first to stand, "To Sihtric and Ealsie! We all wish you many happy years together!"
Gisela then glances at Sigrid, and for a moment Finan is really confused.
That is... until she starts to speak.
"To my baby brother and his wife to be," Sigrid adds as she raises her shot glass, "Anyone who can put up with Sihtric is a saint, we are happy to have you become one of us, Ealhswith." Ealhswith wipes a tear from her face as Sigrid tips her glass just slightly, "Cheers!"
The rest of the party yells cheers, except for Finan, who's frozen in place looking mighty confused.
"You alright there, Finan?" Asks Osferth, Sihtrics' childhood friend and another groomsman, as he walks over and nudges his arm.
"I am… lost," Finan explains as he raises the shot glass to his lips.
"Oh, I should've told you," Uhtred puts his hand on Finan's shoulder and smirks, "Sihtrics' sister is his best man."
The words come out of Uhtred's mouth just as Finan takes his shot, causing the Irishman to choke on his liquor.
"She's what?!"
————————————<3—————————————
"He's handsome isn't he?" Gisela whispers to Sigrid as she lifts the cocktail to her mouth.
"Who?"
"Finan, Sigrid, are you not listening!" Ealhswith tries to whisper but she's a bit tipsy so it's not really as quiet as she intends.
Sigrid glances over her future sister-in-law's shoulder at the men, who are currently in the middle of a drinking contest. From the looks of it, Sihtric is not winning.
Next to her brother, cheering him on is Finan. There's a big, cheeky, smile on the Irishman's face as he encourages Sihtric to keep drinking and for just a moment, she can see his eyes glance her way.
Okay, maybe they are onto something.
Finan is tall with longish hair and a thick beard. Sigrid guesses he must work out with just how his broad his shoulders are, and his even broader chest… and those arms-
Okay, fine. He's gorgeous. They win.
But she won't tell them that, "Yeah. He's alright."
"Oh come on," Eadith chuckles, playfully shoving Sigrid's side, "Most of us would like a piece of that Irish-"
"Eadith!" Gisela gasps with a smile.
"What," Eadith shrugs, "I have eyes, I can use them."
"Osferth doesn't satisfy enough, Eadith?" Sigrid smirks, leaning back on the couch. They were an odd couple, Eadith and Osferth, but the two of them seemed to really work in sync.
"Oh he satisfies just fine," Eadith raises a brow as she takes a sip of her drink, "There is nothing I would change about how that man performs in bed."
"Alright- I've heard enough," Sigrid raises her hand as she leans forward to put her drink down and the other girls boo her and laugh at her embarrassment, "I need to piss, and you ladies need water."
"Ah, come on, Sigrid, don't be a prude!" Ealhswith whines as Sigrid starts to rise from her seat.
"I draw the line on sharing sex life secrets of men I've known since I was a child," Sigrid laughs as she gets to her feet and heads for the bathroom.
When she gets to the bathroom, she wets her face a bit to cool herself down, grateful she isn't wearing much makeup. After a deep breath, she starts to open the door to leave, and on the other side waiting is Finan.
"Oh, I didn't realize-"
"No it's fine," Sigrid tells him as she tries to go around him awkwardly. He doesn't move much, so they are pretty close to each other as Sigrid tries to go around but instead of moving they both find themselves stuck chest to chest in the doorway.
She's never been a shy woman, but she usually isn't the one to make the first move. So tonight, she's lucky she's tipsy because now she has all the confidence she needs to do whatever stupid thing she wishes.
Include flirting with this man.
"So you're the man I'm supposed to share a bed with," Sigrid smirks as her chest rises and falls with every deep breath she takes.
Finan raises a brow, "I thought it was just a room."
"I don't know if you've been in there yet," Sigrid glances down the hall to make sure no one is coming, and then looks back at Finan, "But there's only one bed."
"What a shame," Finan tells her as he leans forward, stopping right as he hovers her lips, "Looks like you'll be on the couch."
Sigrid doesn't break eye contact as she takes a deep breath and then smirks, "What couch?"
He leans back with eyebrows scrunched and a semi smile on his face, and Sigrid takes that moment to wink and walk away.
She has no idea how she's expected to spend the night alone with this man.
————————————<3—————————————
Finan is fucked.
More than fucked.
He's been trying to fight the urge to flirt with his best friend's sister all night, because… you know... best friend's sister.. and then he runs into her by the bathroom. It was so painfully tempting to pull her into the room, lock the door, and do whatever he can to please her but he contains himself.
Because that's his best friend's sister, and he really shouldn't fuck her.
But he really wants to.
And it's not just because she's gorgeous. It's her light smile, the way she laughs, and her eyes… Sigrid has the bluest ocean eyes Finan just wants to get lost in.
He's trying not to focus on the fact that they've basically set him up. Giving Finan the room with a single bed and single women.
At least… he thought she was?
"Osferth," Finan leans over the kitchen island so he can quietly ask his questions to his friend, "Sigrid isn't… taken, is she?"
"Why? Sharing a room seeming less terrifying and more interesting?" Osferth questions with a smirk of his own and Finan snacks the side of his head.
"I'm just asking, I don't want to make her uncomfortable," Finan tells him, hoping his excuse doesn't make him seem too pathetic.
"Just keep your pants on and you shouldn't have a problem," Uhtred laughs as he enters the kitchen with two empty cups in his hand.
"Where's Sihtric?" Osferth asks as Uhtred joins them at the island.
"I think he's gone to consummate his wedding a touch early," Uhtred laughs and the other two men roll their eyes.
"How are the women?" Finan asks, more curious about Sigrid than the rest of them...
"Gisela is tired, and Eadith may need help getting to her bed," Uhtred answers, looking directly at Osferth as he brings up his girlfriend.
"That's my cue then," Osferth chuckles, "Goodnight, gentlemen."
Finan and Uhtred wave goodnight as Osferth walks away, and when Finan looks at Uhtred he has a devious smile on his face, "What?"
"Sigrid has already headed to bed if you wish to join her," Uhtred tells Finan with a raised brow.
Finan rolls his eyes as he wipes his hands across his face, "Uhtred-"
"Your secret is safe with me," Uhtred laughs as he raises his hands in the air.
"And what secret is that?" Gisela questions as she enters the room.
"There is no secret, Gisela, I think your husband is drunk," Finan tells the women and Uhtred laughs again.
"If you want to fuck her just go ahead and do it, no one will tell Sihtric," Uhtred tells him, and Finan groans as Gisela hits her husband.
"Uhtred!"
"She's your cousin…"
"I'm not the one who wants to fuck her," Uhtred tells them in his own defense, "And besides, if you do decide you don't like her then Sigrid goes back to New York and you never see her again."
Gisela sighs heavily, disappointed with her husband, "Uhtred, you are awful."
"I am brutally honest, it's a gift," Uhtred shrugs as he pulls his wife close, "And you married me, remember?"
Gisela rolls her eyes and smirks his way, "Unfortunately, I do, and we should get to bed."
Uhtred raises a brow with interest, and immediately starts to pull his wife away, "Goodnight, Finan."
"Goodnight," Finan tells them as he's left alone in the kitchen. Now that he is alone, he sighs, and then makes his way to the main living room.
The room is empty now, with everyone going to their respective rooms. He can very well go upstairs, grab his things and then sleep on the couch. They look like they'd be unbearable to sleep on, but it would be better than attempting to share a room with Sigrid. It's the smarter choice, he tells himself as he heads upstairs to get his things.
There is no way he'll survive a night alone with that woman.
————————————<3—————————————
Part of Sigrid is grateful she went upstairs first, she was able to change into a comfortable pair of joggers, a baggy shirt, and a sports bra. She thought about forgoing the bra altogether, but she's a bigger chested girl and her back wouldn't be happy with that.
So instead, she chooses to go without her underwear.
But now she's alone for a while now, and part of her wonders if Finan is alone on the couch trying to sleep. She can't imagine they're any more comfortable to sleep on than they were to sit on, and starts to feel bad for claiming the room for herself.
Sigrid even feels bad enough to gather some of the extra blankets and pillows in the room and go to the door and bring them downstairs to Finan, but he's standing right there when she opens the door.
"Oh," Sigrid smiles shyly at the sight of him, "Hey, I was just going to-"
"I- I just came up here for my stuff," He stutters with a smile and after a moment or two they both chuckle.
Sigrid and Finan stare at each other for a few moments before she finally tells him, "Come in, it's your room too after all."
"I shouldn't stay," Finan tells her with a soft voice.
He's sweet and definitely not as forward as most of the men Sigrid has encountered in her life. It's a nice change of pace, to do the chasing instead of being chased.
"What If I want you to stay," Sigrid smiles, throwing the pillow in her hand back into the room, which frees her hand to take Finan's, "There's space in here for the both of us."
————————————<3—————————————
There's space in here for the both of us.
Finan swallows hard as Sigrid takes his hand and pulls him into the room, dropping the spare blankets she once held onto the floor. This must be a dream. Perhaps he's already asleep on the couch because there's no way this woman is leading him across the room towards the bed. She can't possibly be unbuttoning his shirt, agonizingly slow, working each button slowly with soft fingers.
He wants to devour this woman whole.
"Sigrid," He calls her name and she hums in response as she focuses on finishing his shirt, "What are you doing?"
"You can't sleep in this shirt, you'll get it wrinkled," She tells Finan softly, a smile on her face as her eyes keep on the buttons. As she undoes the last one Sigrid finally looks up, her eyes following her fingers up his chest and to his shoulders.
She's feeling him up as she slides the button-up shirt off his shoulders and down his arms, letting it drop to the floor. The shirt hits the floor with a soft thump, and Sigrid looks up, "Is this fine?"
"Is this fine for you?" Finan has to ask because he still isn't sure whether or not this is a dream, "You don't have to do any of this."
Sigrid smirks with her head at a tilt, "So you don't want me?"
"I just… don't usually sleep with strangers," Finan tells her as Sigrid's hands find his chest again, "Especially not my best friend's sisters."
"I hope not," Sigrid tells him as her fingers move down his chest, and he wonders if she can feel how hard his heart is pumping, "Thyra is married."
"You know what I mean, Sigrid," Finan tells her and she looks up again and smiles. One of his hands involuntarily moves up to touch her face, moving from her jaw to the back of her neck, "I just have to make sure you want this."
She nods, her eyes focusing on his lips, "You should've taken me in the bathroom."
"If I'm going to take care of you, it'll be on the bed," Finan tells her as he leans down, pulling her towards him as her eyes start to flutter shut in anticipation of his lips, "And I plan on taking excellent care of you."
First thing Finan notices when he kisses her is that Sigrid tastes like sweet alcohol and fruit. The second thing he notices is that he feels like a starved man getting sustenance for the first time. Her mouth is paradise, and he's only just started to uncover her.
His free hand moves to Sigrid's waist, pulling her closer until they are flushed together and she must feel how hard he is because she's grinding herself against the hardness in his pants.
The kissing gets more frantic, with tongues colliding and at one point Finan can feel Sigrid's teeth scraping against his bottom lip and it's intoxicating.
Both hands find their way down to Sigrid's waist and onto her ass, and with a tight grip, Finan lifts Sigrid into the air and brings her to the bed without once breaking the kiss. Not until he lowers her down, only then does Sigrid break the kiss to speak.
"Clothes… off," She whispers into his mouth as her hands find his waistline, trying to fumble with his belt, "Now."
Finan rises up for a moment to take off his shirt, pulling in up and over his head I'm one motion. Meanwhile, Sigrid has undone his belt and to speed things along Finan manages to take off the rest, leaving him in nothing but his boxers as he returns to however over Sigrid.
His hands move to her waist lifting up the shirt she's wearing up as they ride up her chest. Sigrid helps him lift it off her by raising her hands up as Finan pulls off her shirt. She smiles now as Finan goes for her pants pulling them down slowly to reveal the fact that she's gone without underwear.
Finan groans as the pants go lower, "Good Christ, woman." The pants are off and Sigrid moves quickly to remove her bra and now she's completely naked under him, and it's absolutely breathtaking, "You are goin' to ruin me."
Sigrid is smirking as he lowers himself down her body to get better access to her lower half, lifting her legs over his shoulder, as he mutters her praise's in Irish, and just as his tongue runs against her cunt that smirk fades into a gasp and a moan.
He's grateful Sigrid cannot see the cheeky grin on her face, from where his head is hidden between her legs, working her with his tongue like a man starved. She must like what he's doing because her legs wrap around his head and neck to pull him closer, and he can feel a hand find its way into his hair, pulling hard.
"Fuck, Finan," He hears her moan, trying not to be too loud by the sound of it, "Fuck…" Sigrid cums with a gasp, loosening the grip on his neck with her legs so that Finan can come up to air, returning to mouth so that he can kiss her and hard.
"You taste like heaven," Finan tells her, the words just slipping through his lips like he has no control, "I could spend the rest of my days between your legs and die happy."
"Then how would I know what your cock feels like?" Sigrid questions him with a raised brow as reaches a hand down to grab him through his boxers, "Take these off and fuck me."
Finan does what he's told, using one hand to pull his boxers down his legs and then kicking them the rest of the way off so he can continue to kiss Sigrid. Once they are gone, he goes to align his cock with her folds and remembers something very important, "Shit, condom-"
"UDI," She tells him as she breaks the kiss, "So if you're clean-"
"I am," Finan nods as he kisses her again and starts slowly pushing his way inside Sigrid. Her mouth opens to a gasp as he thrusts his way in, given another inch every time he returns until he's all the way in, "Fuckin' Christ, woman."
Sigrid wraps her legs around his waist as Finan continues to fuck her, his arms secure at either side of her head, as she wraps her fingers around his neck to hold herself steady against him. Foreheads touching because neither of them can seem to concentrate on kissing the other.
It's greater than paradise being tangled like this. With Sigrid.
It's home, and he never wants to leave.
He's getting close, Finan can tell because his breathing has started to shutter and he's groaning, so Sigrid lifts herself up to kiss him again to keep them both silent. A thrust or two more is all it takes and he finishes inside her, continuing to move just a bit more until he's sure he's given her everything he has to give.
Finan's arms collapse and Sigrid brings him down gently so that he's resting in her chest. They are both panting, and he can feel her fingers running through his hair and it feels incredible.
So he has no idea why he says, "I should probably go back downstairs."
"Leave this bed and I'll kick your pretty Irish ass," Sigrid tells him with a calm voice and when he glances up she's smiling.
"You think my ass is pretty?" Finan smirks and Sigrid laughs as he wraps his arms around her body and holds her close.
It looks like Finan isn't going anywhere.
Which is exactly what he wanted.
————————————<3—————————————
Sigrid wants to say she wakes up the morning after the best sex of her life to the face of the extremely attractive Irishman in her bed, but she doesn't.
Instead, she wakes up to Ealhswith looking directly at her with a smile on her face and her hand over Sigrid's mouth.
"Shush, I've come to sneak you out," Ealhswith whispers terribly with a giggle, holding a robe up with her other hand, "Come on, your brother is still sleeping!"
Sigrid takes the robe from her hands and Ealhswith closes her eyes as she covers her naked body, taking a moment to glance back at Finan. He's still fast asleep, and she desperately wishes she can stay in bed with him.
"Come on, Sigrid, you can stare at him later!" Ealhswith yell-whispers again, as she pulls Sigrid out of the room.
Once the door closes behind her, Sigrid glances at Ealhswith who has a big smile on her face, and raises a brow, "Ealhswith?"
"Yes?" She smiles wide, looking up to no good.
Sigrid crosses her arms over her chest and tilts her head, "You did this on purpose, didn't you?"
"I did," Ealhswith chuckles as she pushes her along, "And all I ask for in return is to be the best man at your wedding.'
Sigrid laughs at Ealhswith's request as she gets pushed away.
Yet a year later, when Sigrid finds herself walking down the aisle in a white dress with Finan waiting for her at the other end, waiting next to where she will stand is Ealhswith in her best man's tux and a wide smile on her face.

I LOVE YOU 3000!
-PART 40
Weekend 7
Harry reached sharply at 8 and was warmly greeted by Lux who couldn't stop smiling. Theo was playing with Cliff and upon seeing Harry, both of them ran to him at once.
"Will Cliff be joining us?" Harry asked, scratching Clifford behind the ears.
"No," replied Theo sadly, "he is not allowed, so we're dropping him at the dog sitters place."
"Aww Cliffy we'll miss you,'' Harry patted Clifford before looking around for Louis.
Louis emerged right then from the room wearing an unbuttoned sap green shirt over a plain white tee, sunglasses hooked in the t-shirt, chocolate brown fringe falling over his eyes. He looked beautiful.
Louis caught him staring but was awestruck himself to do anything about it. Harry stood in front of him wearing a pink shirt with white polka dots, buttons half undone (as always) and sunglasses atop his head, tangled in his curls.
They stared at each other without even moving a muscle when Theo and Lux started aggressively tugging Louis, breaking the moment.
"C'mon uncle Lou, let's goooooo."
"We're getting LATE!"
Within fifteen minutes, all of them were seated in Louis' car driving to the dog sitters house. The car speaker was playing 'Do you wanna build a snowman' on Theo's insistence and after dropping Clifford, they were driving off to the wonders that awaited them.
Harry waited with the kids as Louis went ahead to buy the tickets. Once they got the tickets, they stood with a group and a tour guide greeted them.
"Hello and welcome to the Warner Bros Studios- the making of Harry Potter. I'm gonna walk you through the sets and--"
Harry was distracted by Louis practically bobbing with excitement next to him. Soon the guide led them into the studio and they stood in a wide hall, at the centre of which a statue of the Gringott's dragon was suspended.
People around them were buzzing around and clicking pictures. Even Louis took out his phone and with great concentration took a picture if the dragon. From there, they were led to a set up of the inside of privet drive and the cupboard under the stairs.
"Oh my god, Theo look Harry's room," Lux pulled Theo out of the crowd to show him what she'd seen.
Next they went inside the great hall where and it was magnificent. Harry had seen the Harry Potter movies, but wasn't that deeply invested in them. But Louis. Let's just say Harry had come to visit the place with three kids and not two. Louis couldn't contain his excitement at all. He took in everything with eager eyes, took pictures randomly and every now and then Harry could hear him murmur "wish I was a wizard."
Slowly they walked through a lot more sets each as exciting as the last one. From the Gryffindor common room, boys dorm, Hagrid's hut, potions & herbology classroom, leaky cauldron, to the various shops of Diagon Alley, each captured the attention of the crowd and made everyone's jaw drop. They had a difficult time in the forbidden forest, where huge spiders kept appearing every now and then, scaring Theo and Lux, and Louis had to keep explaining that those weren't real.
There was a particular emotional moment when Louis was brought to tears by a stuffed werewolf because it reminded him of Remus Lupin. Both Lux and Theo, along with Harry had to console him afterwards. He had barely recovered when they were faced with a abstract statue of Sirius Black and Louis was sad again.
Soon it was time for lunch and they found some nice seats in the in-studio restaurant and ate to their fullest. Louis and Harry even tried butterbeer and Louis declared this should be available at all regular clubs too.
After lunch, they were led towards the Hogwarts Express and Harry took pictures of Lux, Theo and Louis one by one in front of the 9¾ platform. In another section, tourists could dress up in Hogwarts robes and sit on a broomstick and record videos and of course all three of them did.
All of them were amazed at the props section. Each and every prop used in the movies was placed in glass boxes and they looked so realistic, it'd make one think that they were actually in the wizarding world.
Walking around the wizarding world set up they didn't even notice the time and soon it was almost evening.
The tour was almost over and their last stop was the merch shop. Upon entering the merch shop, nobody moved for a few seconds. They were taken aback by the variety of items that had been stacked up for sale. Louis bought Lux and Theo a wand each and they couldn't stop waving it around even for a second. He himself wanted to buy a Gryffindor quidditch costume, which earned a tease from Harry,
"Fancy seeing you go to work in these."
"Don't be silly Harry, it's for Halloween."
At the end he settled for a Gryffindor t-shirt and bought robes for the twins instead. Hufflepuff for Theo and Gryffindor for Lux.
Louis even made Harry take the Sorting Hat quiz right there, so he could buy him something. Hufflepuff.
"Yay, Harry you're with me," said Theo running to hug him.
Harry wouldn't buy a robe so Louis got him a t-shirt too.
They also bought a Hogwarts poster for the twins' bedroom at Louis' (because their mum wouldn't let them put up so many posters in the room in their own house and well Louis is the cool uncle so he'll obviously buy it for them).
On their way out they bought loads of chocolates and in his excitement, Louis didn't notice that Harry was lingering a little longer at the payment desk.
It was a wholesome day and it left them exhausted but happy.
After exiting the studio, Louis drove them to his favourite restaurant for dinner. The twins were staying with them tonight and had insisted Harry stay back too. Harry readily agreed and Louis was the happiest.
Theo had fallen asleep in Harry's lap and Lux in Louis' and the two of them slowly climbed the stairs to the apartment carrying the kids in their arms.
After reaching the apartment, Louis woke them up for a while to brush their teeth while Harry got them ready for bed. As Harry and Louis tucked them in their bed, they both said their goodnights in sleepy murmurs.
Harry was feeling tired too and went to the guest room (which had begun to look like his room) after wishing Louis goodnight.
As Harry settled in the bed, he took out his phone, deciding to post some pictures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As he finished posting some pictures, he noticed that Louis had put up some stories on Instagram too. He was amused by the excitement which was radiating off of Louis' stories. He really was a kid at heart.
Harry was about to keep his phone down and go to sleep when he noticed that Louis had posted a picture. He quickly scrolled up and when he saw what Louis had posted, his breath hitched.
Tumblr media
Harry will never know what possessed him at that moment that he jumped out of bed and pulled the blue wrapped packet from under the bed, deciding to go to Louis' room at once. He grabbed a clean t-shirt (which belonged to Louis) from the bedside drawer and at once made his way across to Louis' door. Clutching the packet tightly in one hand, he softly knocked.
Harry waited for about 2 seconds before the door was opened by Louis, still shirtless.
"What happened Harry? Did you need something?" Louis asked, a hint of worry in his voice.
"No, --um yeah, I mean- I wanted to give you something," Harry replied waving the packet slightly.
"Oh come in."
They made their way to the bed when Louis seemed to remember he wasn't wearing a shirt and quickly dived into the drawers for one. Harry's brows furrowed in frustration when he saw Louis putting on a black tank top and coming over to sit next to him.
"What did you get me?"
"See for yourself," Harry said handing the packet to Louis.
"You didn't have to," Louis continued, carefully opening the packet, "When did you even--"
Louis paused midway, opening the box in the packet, gaping at the content inside. "Harry, you-- I-- you- thanks wow, I mean- how did you-", he tried forming a coherent sentence while picking up the carved wooden wand from the box.
Harry chuckled quietly, "I saw how intently you were learning the wand choreography. It's only fair that you have one too."
Louis flung himself on Harry, knocking the breath out of his lungs, "thank you so much, I love this."
Harry hugged him back tightly, trying to steal as much warmth as he could before he had to let go.
Louis let go after a few seconds, face flushed and went back to examining the wand. Harry watched Louis' eyes sparkle as he held out his wand and tried out some moves. Louis couldn't stopped smiling and that made Harry's insides flutter.
After a while, Harry decided it best to leave, "So I'll leave you to your devices. Goodnight."
Harry got up to leave but was stopped by Louis tugging the hem of his t-shirt.
"You could stay if you want," Louis said, ducking his head down.
"Here?" Harry asked, unsure, not letting his hopes get the better of him.
"Here," Louis replied looking up, holding Harry's gaze.
"Um okay."
Harry sat back on the bed as Louis shifted around to remove his clothes from the bed. Harry moved back in the bed and leaned against the headboard. Louis joined him soon and for a few moments both were quiet, not knowing what to say. The silence wasn't uncomfortable though.
Louis had kept the windows open which let in the cool summer breeze and Harry felt at peace listening to the sound of crickets with Louis beside him.
Louis started first-
"I saw that you posted a picture of me from your main."
"Yes."
"Wouldn't that be a problem?"
"Why? I can hang out with my friends."
Friends
Harry quickly tried to correct himself after seeing the look on Louis' face, "Not that I consider you one-- I mean-- yes I do, but not in that way, you know-- I mean-"
"It's okay Harry. I know," Louis replied, relaxing once again and slowly sliding down the bed, lying flat on his back.
Harry watched him as the moonlight settled on the curves of his face, and watched as his eyelids fluttered slowly, the moonlight dancing in the shadows of his eyelashes.
Harry tangled his fingers with Louis' half afraid that Louis would remove his hand but Louis just tightened the grip.
"Thanks for today," Harry hummed so slowly, that Louis missed him.
"Hmm?"
"Thanks for today," Harry said, a little louder this time, "for everything actually."
Louis craned his neck upward to look at Harry's face and said, "Someone's being sappy today."
Harry smiled and slid down himself, propped himself on his left elbow, head resting on his hand and looked down at Louis. "Well you make me one."
"You make me one too."
If Harry could choose one moment to relive over and over again, it would probably be this, him lying beside Louis, their fingers intertwined and his face hovering inches above Louis'.
They gazed at each and even in the dim moonlight that had filtered in the room, they could see every inch of each others face clearly and suddenly without a warning Harry leaned in and kissed Louis.
Louis' brain short circuited and he froze for a second before giving in. Harry astounded by his own courage didn't waste time in climbing on top of Louis and taking his breath away.
Harry could feel the butterfly convention in his stomach going feral.
Louis let out a nervous laugh when they stopped to catch their breaths. Harry's curls were all over his face and Louis brought his hand up tuck the wild curls behind his ears.
"Harry are you sure?" he managed between ragged breaths.
"Yes," Harry replied, his voice strained.
"But-" Louis stopped, not knowing how to say it.
"Oh god," Harry groaned, "you're gonna make me say it aren't you? Yes Louis Tomlinson, I want this, if it wasn't clear enough. Just that-" he paused, "you're the first-"
"-bloke you're snogging?" Louis completed with an all knowing smile.
"I would have framed it better, but I guess that works too."
With that Harry closed the gap between them again, hands fiddling with the fabric of Louis' shirt which he managed to pull off in a few minutes.
"Shouldn't have put it on," Harry murmured in between their kisses.
Louis tangled his hands in Harry's hair and tugged at it in response.
"I love seeing you in my shirt," Louis said, rolling them over, settling on top of Harry, legs straddling Harry's hips, "but right now, I'd like for it to disappear."
Louis grabbed his wand from the bedside table and pointing it down at Harry, said "Evanesco!"
Harry watched in amusement as the boy above him, held a wand out and incanted a vanishing spell in the middle of a heated moment. Trust Louis to be dramatic. Louis' eyes glistened in the dim light and Harry obliged instantly. Louis leaned in on Harry and they got into their rhythm again, slowly discovering every inch of each other's skin, neither willing to let go.
--
When Harry woke next morning, he pleased to find himself on top of Louis' chest, listening to his heartbeat and feeling the rhythmic rise and fall of Louis' belly underneath his hand. He slowly got up, careful not to wake Louis up and got off the bed, planting a kiss on Louis' forehead and made for the bathroom. He quickly freshened up, and returned to the room, to find Louis sitting up, with his back facing the window, sunlight slipping in through the curtains and illuminating his back. Louis smiled sleepily and beckoned Harry to come over. Harry started making his way over to him but suddenly stopped in his tracks.
"Stay here, don't move, I'll be back."
He dashed out of Louis' room and into the guest room and returned a minute later with his phone.
"Can I take a picture?"
"What?" Louis laughed in disbelief. "You can't be serious, I'm in my boxers."
"That won't matter. You look beautiful."
A slow blush spread across Louis' face and Harry took that as a cue to move forward. He stood at the end of the bed on Louis' right side and with great concentration took a picture.
"Let me have a look" Louis asked.
"Nuh, uh. You'll see when it's time."
Louis pouted his lips in faux sadness which earned a kiss from Harry.
"Now freshen up, the twins will be up anytime soon."
Inside the shower, Louis couldn't stop thinking about last night. He could feel a stupid grin spread on his face everytime he thought about Harry.
God. He might be in love.
Louis emerged into the drawing room and an amazing smell of pancakes wafted into his nose.
"Hey how'd you know?" Louis asked, making his way over to the kitchen and climbing on top of the kitchen counter.
"Huh? --oh this? Lux told me. Pancakes. Household favourite."
"You're spoiling them."
"You're one to talk," Harry raised an eyebrow at Louis and had to force his thoughts from wanting to kiss Harry again to the delicious pancakes being cooked.
The twins absolutely adored Harry and wouldn't let him leave even after breakfast. Lot's of negotiations and promises later, they finally agreed to let Harry leave. Louis walked him to the door and as Harry was leaving, he reached out and held his hand.
"Um, you do realise that we've watched 21 out of 22 movies and it's just week 7?"
"So what? If you thought you'll get rid of me after a few calculated weeks, you're wrong mister. I think we established that already."
"Yeah, I was just checking if it stands," Louis replied sheepishly.
"After yesterday, you don't have to worry," Harry said, moving closer and pressing a chaste kiss on Louis' lips.
And he was off.
Louis would have stood in the doorway for a little longer if the sound of giggles behind him didn't break his train of thoughts.
Lux and Theo were peering around from the couch and had apparently witnessed the display of affection.
"Are you going to marry him uncle Lou?" Theo asked, his expressions a mix of glee and confusion.
"No Theo, put your mind to rest," Louis ruffled Theo's hair.
"Do you love him? Like mommy and daddy?"
Louis smiled at that, "I don't know Lux, maybe ask Harry, next time you see him."
Lux beamed at that and soon Louis was getting the twins ready to be picked up by their mum.
Louis' sister actually stayed for an hour and they talked about all sorts if stuff, catching up on things they'd missed in each other's lives. Louis thought for a moment of he should tell her about Harry but then decided against it. It was too soon.
No sooner had all of them left, when Louis got a notification of a new post from Harry's private instagram. He quickly opened it and what he saw took his breath away again. Harry seemed to be doing that quite often.

New Kid on the Block (2)
Family Ties AU // Bloodline Family Series AU
Following her uncle inside the restaurant, Haleigh stuffed her phone into her purse and stood behind him quietly as he talked with two men she didn't know. She looked around the restaurant nodding her head to the music that played at a moderate volume. It wasn't too loud that you couldn't have a conversation but not too low that you had to strain to hear it.
"Hae ... Hae ... babygirl." Don called out to his niece tapping her shoulder.
"Oh sorry, I was looking around. Yes sir?"
Don gestured to the men he had been speaking with. "This is Raymond and Tyrell Jones, the owners. Me, your auntie and their parents go way back. You're going to interview with them. Fellas, this is our niece we were telling you about, Haleigh Reigns. I'll be at my usual table when you guys are done."
Haleigh watched him walk off then smiled and waved politely at them both. They led her to a booth to the back of the dining room with less traffic, she sat on one side and they sat on the other.
"So, Haleigh, you're in school, right?" Raymond asked.
Tumblr media
She nodded then cleared her throat. "Yes, sir. I'm in eleventh grade."
"Cool, so you're good with working after school and weekends? Any days you can't work?"
"I'm cool with that. I just moved here so I don't know anybody beside my aunt and uncle," she explained with a shrug. "So I'm free whenever you guys need me."
Tyrell rubbed through his beard thinking. "You ever worked in a restaurant before? You got with serving and working the register?"
Tumblr media
"I worked in my mom's bakery so technically yes. I served, I was a cashier, I baked and decorated desserts." She explained softly looking between them remembering that she was supposed to smile. "I don't mind serving or working the register."
"Well I heard all I needed to hear. What you think, Ray?"
Raymond nodded. "Same. You would be serving, a cashier when needed and when you get a lil more comfortable you can do some baking and all that. How that sound?"
Haleigh remembered to smile again. "That sounds good to me."
"Alright so you start tomorrow at 8am, Haleigh. We'll give you a schedule tomorrow. You don't have to wear anything special as long as your comfortable. If you can't wear it to school, you can't wear it here," Tyrell chuckled. "Got it?"
She nodded laughing a bit, "Got it. Thank you."
Both men got up from their seat and told Haleigh to follow them to meet the other workers. Only a couple of them were around her age but she didn't mind. They walked her to the kitchen, introducing her to the dishwashers, bus boys and a few cooks. Afterwards they led her to another cook, who was off to himself. Tyrell approached him and squeezed his shoulders making him jump and turn around.
"This is our nephew and our other cook, Ardian. Ardian, this is Haleigh. She's a server and cashier," Ray explained.
The two of them stared at each other for a second before Haleigh waved and spoke softly.
"Ardian's in my class, he walked me home...or well walked with me."
Tumblr media
The brothers looked between the teenagers. Raymond's brows were raised and Tyrell smirked.
"Remember the girl I told you I walked home, Uncle Ty?"
Tumblr media
"Yup, I remember." He chuckled. "Well she starts tomorrow. Haleigh, do you drive or have a way to work?"
She shrugged slowly moving her gaze away from Ardian to Tyrell. "If my uncle doesn't bring me then I can walk. I don't mind its not that far."
"No need," Ray told her without hesitation, "Ardian drives on the weekend. He can pick you up. And until it's cold you two can walk together after school. Don't want you walking alone."
"Yes sir." Both teens answered simultaneously.
Tyrell cleared his throat to cover his laugh. "Aight then its settled. We'll let you get back to work, Ardian. Come on, Haleigh. We'll walk you back out to your uncle."
Haleigh nodded turning to leave the kitchen but turned back to wave. "Thank you again for walking me, Ardian. I really did appreciate it."
"I didn't mind, Haleigh but you're welcome."
Raymond and Tyrell lifted their brows once Haleigh turned back around, smiling at their nephew. Ardian stared at them both then turned back to the food he was cooking.
When Haleigh got to her uncle's table, she hugged him tight. He chuckled hugging her back. "I take it you got the job."
"Yeah, I did. Thank you."
"Don't thank me, that was all you. I just set it up," Don got up and slapped hands with both brothers. "I'll see you boys at Sunday dinner?"
Raymond chuckled, "Yup, we'll be there. Tell Auntie Pearl we love her. And Haleigh, we'll see you tomorrow."
"Yes sir. See you then."
Tyrell hummed, "Oh let me give you my nephew's number so you know what time to be ready tomorrow."
Haleigh took our her phone, taking his number down and saved it. Afterwards, she left with her uncle and the food he'd gotten. He took her by the home he shared with Pearl to have the food as a snack since she'd missed it at the home then took her back to the home.
"Nice to see you smiling. I know you weren't too happy when you first got here last week." Don said watching the road as he drove.
"Just glad I got something to keep me busy. There's only so much YouTube I can watch on my phone," she shrugged.
"You know if you ever wanna come to the house, you can. Just call and I'll come get you."
She shook her head taking out a text on her phone. "No, I can't but thank you, Uncle Don."
"And why not?"
"I can't go there, wasn't supposed to go today. I'm gonna be in trouble if Auntie finds out I went. I'm being punished, I have to stay at the home."
"Doesn't she allow you to enjoy the game and TV room and go out and have fun after homework and your cleaning is done?" He asked switching lanes.
"She does."
"Isn't our house fun?"
Haleigh laughed a little. "Yes, Uncle Don."
"Okay then you're allowed. Case closed."
When they pulled up to the girls home, Haleigh hugged her uncle once more before getting out. She rushed up the steps and went inside going to her aunt's office.
"I'm back," she said knocking on the door, "And I got the job."
Pearl put her own down and smiled up at her. "I'm proud of you. Some of the girls are going to the movies. Would you like to go with them?"
"Nah, no ma'am. Probably just gonna edit the pictures I took today and maybe talk to my friend from home."
"Some of the girls are starting to think that you don't like them. You never do anything with them, Hae."
Haleigh shrugged. "I just got here. I'm not used to being here yet. I'm homesick, I'm emotional...I just don't wanna be around people yet."
"I understand, I do. I hope that you start to feel better about being here or it's going to be a long two years for you."
"You and me both," she mumbled. "May I go to my room? Please?"
Pearl shook her head. "No ma'am."
Haleigh frowned a little, "Uuuh? Was there other cleaning to do? I thought I did all my cleaning."
"You finished your cleaning. You're not going to that room till after dinner when those few girls leave for the movies."
"So what am I supposed to do?"
"Go put your things away in your room then go watch some television with the girls."
"But, Auntie, I just said that," Haleigh's voice trailed off seeing her aunt's brow raise, "Yes, ma'am. I'm going."
"Thank you."
Haleigh left her office mumbling to herself. She wasn't happy at all but she didn't have a choice. It was either follow the rules or the detention center and the latter wasn't an option for Haleigh so she would do it.

Nothing Else Matters
Another big decision.
Why is this day filled with the need to make big decisions?
“Why do you need to know that?” You mumble, a shiver rolling down your spine when you feel his lips brushing on your ear.
“Because I don't want you to break my little heart, princess.”
Damn it. “Billy, stop calling me that,” you beg, fixing your hair around your neck so it'll be a barrier between you and Billy. The damn nickname makes your stomach burn, and it has an effect on your head...
“Aren't you going to answer me?” You sigh when he messes with your hair, pulling it to the side and exposing your neck to him again.
“Pay attention to the movie.” Muttering, you feel as his lips brush on the soft skin of your neck.
“Just because you're the one asking.” He says, and you feel your body involuntary sinking into his embrace.
Billy is silent for the rest of the movie, thankfully, but his arm feels like iron, keeping you close.
The night falls and you make a pause on what will be a movie night when the pizza gets here. You made everyone chip in since you weren't planning on buying pizza for another six people. It's almost ten when everyone leaves, and you ask Billy to take you home. It was a good day, and you're happy you got to see Billy's house. And about all the rest.
As he drives, you smell the scent of his cologne on you, and you smile to yourself. “So... Did you enjoy it?”
“What?”
“Spending the day with me?” He stops by your place, and you step out of the car biting your lip. You wait for Billy to walk around the car before you start making the way over to the front door.
“I did.” You don't want to cover that up. You want Billy to know you like being around him. “I had fun. With you and the kids.” As you speak, you hear a low laugh coming from inside. “What's that?”
Gesturing for him to stay quiet, you unlock the front door, noticing how the lights are off, and the colorful ones coming from the TV. Slowly, you peak at the living room, smiling to see Diane is with someone, hugging, watching something on the TV. You don't want to ruin it, so you go back to the front door.
“My aunt is with someone. I need you to wait for me here, ok?”
He looks a little confused. “Yes, but why?”
“Just wait. Quietly.” You storm back inside when he nods, tiptoeing upstairs.
You know they can hear the footsteps down there, so you have to move fast. You grab your toothbrush and some clothes, throwing them on the first bag you find before running back down. “(Y/N)?” You hear her calling me when you reach the bottom of the stairs.
“I'm just going out again,” you say, running to the front door.
“Hey, hey!” She comes running, meeting you when you open the door. “You can... You can stay. Robert is just... Where are you going? It's late.”
It's so cute to see her like that, blushing. “Aunt, I'll...” Think fast. “I'll sleep at Billy's.” You gesture at him, standing behind you. He waves at Diane.
“Are you sure?”
“Yup. Now get back there!” You whisper-yell, stepping backwards, and closing the door. “Uhm...” You finally turn to face Billy, who's still pretty confused. “Sorry, I... Just take me to Monica's, I'll sleep there.”
“You told your aunt you'd sleep at my place. So that's where you'll be.” He raises an eyebrow, gesturing for you to head back to his car.
“Billy, I–”
“You'll sleep in Max's room. So chill.” He gives you that smirk again, and you roll your eyes.
You're soon back at his place, and he tells you to make yourself at home, so you take a shower in his bathroom. You brought leggings to sleep in, but you forgot to take a shirt. Sighing, you put the one you were wearing before, leaving the bathroom, finding Billy seated on his bed.
This is way too intimate. You're in his bedroom, showering on his bathroom, drying yourself with his towels... You weren't ready for this... But it's about to get more weird.
“Billy.” He looks up at you. “Do you... Do you have any shirts I can wear? I forgot to grab one... Or maybe see if Max has anything?” C'mon, you know you shouldn't do this, but the very thought of wearing one of Billy's shirts is just too strong.
There's a smile on his lips as he searches on his wardrobe. He hands you a dark red shirt, and you go back into the bathroom just to change. When you come out again, you feel Billy's intense stare. This is craziness. You shouldn't be here.
“You look beautiful.” He says, coming to stand before you. “Max has one of those mattresses she uses for camping. It's lied on the floor for you and you should take a blanket. The nights can get a little cold even in summer.”
“Yeah, I noticed...” You move away, to the door. You don't want to sleep, not yet. “Are you going to sleep now? Or we could watch some TV...” Biting your lip, you watch as he starts moving towards you, so you go to the living room, sitting on the couch.
Billy turns the TV on, in some random talk show, and turns the lights off. “Do you mind?” You shake your head no and he comes to sit by your side. “Why did you storm out of your house like that?”
“It's kind of a long story.”
“Tell me everything about it.”
“Uhm... Diane is more of a mother to me than my real mother, Laura. I have a very complicated relationship with my parents since forever so...” You use the light coming from the TV to analyze his face, to see if you're boring him already. But Billy seems to be curious, intense eyes focused on you. “Her husband died years ago and she has never been in a relationship after that. Diane... When she loves, she loves deeply and I remember how happy she was. I want her to be that happy again. She has always been there for me since I can remember. She's my anchor when things fall apart. She's the reason why I'm here, you know. When I started looking for a place to move to, she told me about Hawkins. Being born and raised here, she only moved to Indianapolis because her husband lived there. My plan is to live with her there during the week, when the classes are back, and come here for the weekend.”
“You really plan to live here?”
“Yes... You?” You move your body towards him, pulling one of your legs up, folding in under you. Billy looks so handsome, even in the dim light. You're distracted for a bit when Max comes from her room and goes to the kitchen.
“I'm... Reconsidering.” He smiles.
“Why?” Because of you? No, it can't be. Billy would never take this big of a decision because of you.
“What's the matter between you and your parents?”
Of course he won't answer. “They're both lawyers, as is my brother, so they wanted me to follow up. But since I can remember I knew I didn't want to do that... So it was always a nightmare.” Putting some of the hair behind your ear, you take a deep breath. “I had to study like crazy to keep my grades next to perfect because whenever I got a B it was like the end of the world. And the talk about my career was constant since I got into elementary school. There was yelling, cursing...” Talking about it makes you feel like a kid again, when you were too young to be forced to talk about University. “Maybe I should've played along to avoid the arguing, but I always wanted to stand my ground. And to them, to both of them, there was no other option, I had to become a lawyer and as I grew old, the humiliation started. You're not part of the family. You're nothing like your brother, he cares about us. We should've given you away, to a mediocre family so you could fit in. Why can't you be like your brother? You're a failure.”
“It got so much worse when I got into New York University...” You continue, looking down at your hands. “They told me I'd never do it. That Biomedicine is way too complicated and, let's face it, if I was smart enough, I'd pick Law. So in the end, I wasn't coursing Law because I'm dumb. And my brother is such an asshole. He feels so proud that our parents love and basically worship him as the perfect child... I just...”
“Hey...” Billy lifts your face, his index finger on your chin. “You're not dumb. You're very brave for standing up for yourself like that.”
“So that's why I'm here.” Breathing out, you move closer to him because you suddenly feel so comfortable here... Like you can trust him, completely. “I wanted somewhere new, to have a fresh start and this place is just perfect. It's so beautiful... I can actually picture having kids here and raising them running around the town like the kids I see.”
His fingers start moving, rubbing your cheek with his thumb. “I'm sorry you had to go through that in your life. I... My father was an asshole too. He... Hit me. Made my life a nightmare.” Billy's face changes, as the memories hit him like a train. “I'm only here because of Max's mother. Susan divorced Neil and bought this house so Max would have a place to live since she didn't want to leave Hawkins. And when she doesn't want to do something, nothing in the world changes her mind.” You feel relieved when a small smile comes to his lips. “That's why I'm still here. To look after Max and because the University of Indianapolis was the only one that accepted me.”
“Well, nothing matters now, right? We're both here now... Not paying attention to whatever is going on there.” You gesture at the TV.
“Nothing outside these walls matters.” He pulls you close and you move, your foreheads touching.
“Billy, please...” You beg, because you don't think you can hold back if he kisses you. You know you'll surrender. “Not yet... If... If you like me, please... Don't kiss me...”
You're scared. Scared he'll be mad at you, that he'll get tired and push you away.
But when you open your eyes, you see a smile on his lips. “I won't kiss you until you want me to.”
“Thanks,” you whisper, wrapping your arms around his neck, pulling him close. Your heart starts beating even faster, if it's even possible, when you feel his strong arms embracing you. You never hugged Billy, and honestly, you have no idea how you could not have done it before. It feels right. So damn right.
You want him. You were careful with your heart, but he did it. He's making you fall for him.
When you pull away, he's smiling. Not the sassy smirk, but a true, bright smile. As if he just found a treasure, something valuable. “Let's stay here for a while...” He says. “Your aunt is cuddling with that Robert guy, we should do the same.”
Biting your lip, you sigh. You don't want to go to sleep now. You rather be with Billy for a while longer. “Alright.”
“Come here.” You lay your head on his chest, as you move to watch TV. You're not really paying attention, listening to his heartbeat.
• • •
A loud noise wakes you up. With a low groan, you pull the light sheet over your head to protect your eyes from the sun coming through the window. A soft, fresh scent makes you smile. You know this scent, it's familiar, comforting. “Watch out, Max!” Billy's low voice reaches you and you open your eyes, removing the sheet and realizing you're not home. That this is Billy's scent and this is Billy's bed. So you get up abruptly, looking around for a while, a hand on your forehead, before going to the kitchen, where you find him and his sister.
“Hey, I...” You gesture at where you came from. “Was that your bed?”
“Yes, princess. But don't worry, I slept on the couch.” He comes to stand before you, too close, handing you a mug with coffee.
“I will leave you guys alone,” Max mutters, leaving the kitchen.
“Thanks,” you tell Billy, taking a sip. “Sorry to take your bed.”
“Apology not accepted.” He gestures at the table. “Let's have breakfast. I made you toasts.”
“I like the toasts.” You sit beside him, trying not to be too happy about the fact that you're still here, having breakfast with Billy.
You chat a little, laugh a little, and accidentally spill your coffee on the table, which gets you a funny comment about him making you nervous. Of course he makes you nervous, how could he not? Hella good looking guy, calling you ‘princess’ and treating you with such attention, unlike anyone else before... Of course you're nervous.
You take your time showering, and you put his shirt on your bag, hoping he won't notice. Then you wait for him as he showers, watching TV, seated on the bench press.
“(Y/N). You know what time is it?”
“No. But we should get going.” Shrugging your shoulders, you stand up.
“We're late.”
“How late?”
“Late as in the pool is opening right now.” He says as if it's nothing.
“We gotta get going then.” It's unbelievable how he doesn't seem bothered by it, so you take his hand, pulling him out. “We still have to stop by my place to get the swimsuit, Billy. Let's go!”
He seems amused by your desperation, so you roll your eyes. You can barely talk to your aunt, since you're in a rush, just grabbing the uniform and heading back to the car.
It's so hot already. “Billy, can you stop by that store? I need something to drink.”
“Weren't you desperate to get to your job?” He smirks, giving you a glance.
“We're already late anyway. It'll only take a second.” When he stops the car you jump out, being in and out of the store in record time.
“Damn, you're fast.”
“Drive, Billy.” Rolling your eyes, you open the can, taking a sip.
Two minutes later he's parking on the reserved place for the lifeguards. You see as the heads turn at the sight of his car. Girls smiling, gossiping, telling her friends to check out who just got here. Taking a deep breath, you step out of the car, trying really hard not to notice how people stare. You haven't had time to consider what would mean showing up here with Billy. You should be used to having eyes on you since you're still the new girl, but this is for a whole different reason now. You're around Billy for quite a while now, and people are starting to count, to notice he still didn't ditch you.
Taking another sip of the soda, you wait for Billy to join you before start walking towards the entrance.
“Give me a sip.” He asks, taking your mind away from all the glances you're getting.
“Let's get inside. I'll get you a glass.”
“Why?”
“Uhm... Because I'm drinking straight from the can... With my mouth. I just thought...” Shrugging your shoulders, you watch as he takes the can from your hand, stopping by the entrance. You guess you're not worried that you're late anymore. You're already here anyway.
“Wait. Let's rewind a little.” Billy looks down at you, apparently ignoring how people linger around, walking slower when they're close, trying to overhear something. He doesn't seem to care. “You went to my place–”
“Keep your voice down, Billy. Please.” You warn him, and he seems to take this as a chance to step closer. So you back up, but your back hits the way. Why does he do that? Why does he pretends you're alone when you're surrounded by people?
“You went to my place, showered on my bathroom, used my soap, slept on my bed...” He squints his eyes a little, taking a deep breath. “And you're using my cologne.”
Damn it. You were supposed to keep a distance today because you put some of his cologne when he was showering. “Busted,” you mumble, feeling your cheeks burning.
“And... Considering the fact that I want to kiss you, why would I have any problems with drinking from your can?” When he's done speaking, he takes long sips from the soda.
“Why do I feel like you enjoy taking every chance you have to tease me?” You whisper, crossing your arms in an attempt to create some distance between your bodies.
“Because I can't stay away from you.” He hands you the can back. “And I know you don't want to stay away from me either, so yes, I'll take every chance I'll get to show you I want something different this time. I would never allow any girls to my place, much less introduce them to Max. That's like a point of no return because if I push you away, I'll never hear the end of it.”
Your eyes are fixed on his, and as much as you try, you can't look away. “Let's get in, please. People are staring.”
“Let them stare, I couldn't care less.” Billy bends down a little, closing the final distance between you and placing a kiss on your cheek. “I meant what I said last night. I won't kiss you until you ask me to.” That said, he steps back, gesturing for you to move.
Taking a deep breath, you enter the pool, drinking what's left of the soda. You make your way straight to the locker room, changing and applying the sunblock before shoving everything in your locker.
“Hey.” You're about to go out when someone calls. Turning on your heels, you see that girl Jennifer with her friend. “(Y/N), right?”
“Yes. Do you need anything?”
“No. We're just curious.” They come closer, arms crossed. “We couldn't help but notice Billy is still hanging out with you and we need to know what you're doing so right.” The girl says, and Jennifer nods.
“What do you mean?”
“C'mon, we're not stiffs. What's your trick?” Jennifer flashes you a dirty smile, and you can't wait to get the hell out of here. “What do you do that he likes so much?”
“Nothing. I don't do anything.” You simply say, shrugging your shoulders.
“Nothing? Like... How the hell–”
“Yup. Nothing.” Waving at them, you decide not to let them say anything else, leaving the locker. Billy comes out of the boy's locker at the same time you do, a curious expression on his face. “Did you... Did you hear that?”
“Couldn't help it.” He admits. “Are you ok?”
As you nod, the girls come out, walking away. “Don't worry about me. I can deal with some mean girls if I have to. And they're just jealous that it's my turn with you.” That's how they speak of it. Every girl has her turn with Billy, and when it's over, they have no choice but to back off and watch as he picks someone else.
“Yeah. But it's the last swift.” He steps closer, a hand caressing your cheek. “You're the last one.”
“Don't say stuff like that, Billy.”
“Alright, alright.” Monica's voice startles you, and you bite your lip because you're just a little mad she broke the moment. “You two are late and I've been the only one watching three pools. Get to your posts.”
Billy rolls his eyes, winking at you as he walks away.
“Mind to tell me what happened? I saw him kissing you.” Monica speaks low as you make your way to the chairs.
“On the cheek, Mon.”
“I don't care, I know something is going on.”
Yeah, there's a lot going on. “We need to talk, Mon. I'm losing my damn mind.” You say with a smile.
“You're falling for him, aren't you?”
“I really think so.”

Truth or Dare
Tumblr media
The clock had struck 07:00 pm, and you were standing in the middle of the practice room facing the mirrors. Your hair were put up in a ponytail to get it out of your face, as you could feel the warmth radiating from your skin standing there in a tank top and sweatpants, breathing heavily from the choreography you had just practiced.
With closed eyes you tried to steady your breathing. You always felt good after coming to the dance studio. It was a place you could release stress and frustration by dancing. Sometimes you just closed your eyes and let your body float over the wooden floors, moving it to match the song that was playing. That was when you really got your creativity out.
You often made up choreographies or changed some you already knew, but that was only for your own entertainment. The company you trained at did not allow you to perform yet, they meant you lacked some skills. SM Entertainment was a demanding company, but you did not mind as you could just improve your dancing by training more. They even let you stay over time as you wanted to get the most out of your practice.
Your silence got interrupted as you heard the door to the practice room open, you just stood there listening to the voices while not moving a muscle. It sounded to you like three guys speaking. Hearing the voices clearer as they entered the room, you started smiling to yourself as you recognised all three if them.
They didn't seem to recognise you at first though, which only made you smirk. "Oh sorry, we didn't know the room was taken" the first guy said. You turned your head slightly so they could see your side profile. "No worries, I was finishing up anyways" you said before turning around completely with a smirk still plastered on your face. The three guys in front of you stared at you with big eyes.
The guy on the left scratched his neck before talking. "Sorry that we didn't recognise you y/n, I can't say we've seen you wearing something like that before" he looked at you from head to toe scanning your clothing. "Hehe that's fine, it was fun to see your reactions" you said winking while walking towards you bag.
You always joked around with them, flirting because it amused you. However, as you reached for your bag a hand grabbed your arm first. "Y/n why don't you stay? We can practice choreographies together" the guy you knew as Hendery said. "Sure why not" you said smiling at him. At this moment you could swear to have seen Lucas smirk towards Ten, as if they had some kind of secret between them, but you brushed it off as you got in formation with them.
••••••••Three hours later••••••••
The four of you laid spread out on the floor, breathing heavily from the previous choreographies. It was silent and all you could hear was breathing. However, this got interrupted by Lucas saying "I really don't understand the thought process of our bosses. You clearly have the skill to debut y/n, they just don't see it." You got surprised hearing this from a friend who had debuted a few years ago, your eyes widening a little.
"Uhm thank you I guess. I thought I had to practice so much more to get to debut" you said while moving to a sitting position. "Oh definitely not, if I was the boss I would have you debut a year ago actually" Ten said while looking over at you. Hearing him say this made you blush a little, since you did have a little crush on him. You stared at the floor hoping he did not notice your cheeks getting red.
The room fell silent again, and you stayed like that for another two minutes. "Well I'm tired, and we should probably close up and go shower or something" Hendery said while standing up. All of you agreed and you grabbed your bag on the way towards the door. You got out last, turning off the lights behind you. To your surprise, Ten had waited for you while Lucas and Hendery walked up ahead.
This gave you the opportunity to talk to him more, before exiting the building. You two talked about many different things, and you did not notice that the two in front of you had stopped before you collided into Hendery. It made all of you laugh. "Hey y/n, why don't you come by our dorm later? We can have a sleep over since it is Friday and our schedules are open this weekend" Lucas asked you having a big smile on his face.
"Oh I would love to do that! I'll just head home quick and grab some stuff and shower" you said as your eyes lit up. Ten noticed this and just smiled at you. "Great! We'll see you later then" Lucas said before entering their car. You waved goodbye to them before entering your own car, and drove off to your place.
Because it was a little late, you decided to take a quick shower washing your hair quite fast. Actually you have not taken a shower this quick before ever, and you were amazed by this. Because you could not care less, you decided to wear a hoodie and tights. You had known the guys for quite some time and felt comfortable around them. While grabbing everything you needed quickly, you locked your apartment door and got into the car.
It took you about 20 minutes to drive over to their dorm, and you were excited for what kind of plans they had made. You were now at their front door, excitement were bubbling up inside as you rang their doorbell. You could hear voices at the other end of the door, and they were closing in. As soon as it opened, you looked up at a confused but happy Xiaojun, smiling at him.
"Hey there y/n, I didn't know you were coming" he said a little confused. "Oh I thought Hendery, Lucas or Ten had told you guys" you said a little nervously. He moved aside to let you in as he spoke, "oh that's alright, you're always welcome." You greeted Kun as you took off your shoes and put down your bag. "Hey y/n are you hungry?" he asked you. "Yeah, I haven't eaten in a while" you said, smiling nervously for what he was going to say about it.
"Well that's good, pizza is about to arrive any minute now" he answered smiling back at you. You were a little relieved that he did not give you a lecture about how important it is to eat this time. After taking off your shoes, you went into the living room to meet the others. They were sitting there playing a card game while waiting for you and the pizza to arrive. Lucas noticed you and smiled, motioning for you to sit down beside him and Ten.
All of them greeted you and you noticed Yangyang smirking at Ten. It reminded you of how Lucas had looked at him earlier in the practice room, but you did not think much of it. You noticed Xiaojun had not come back from the front door yet, and that was when you smelled something delicious. The pizza had arrived just minutes after you, and it was finally time to eat.
"Hey can we watch a movie while eating?" Winwin asked you and the guys. "Yeah sure, which movie though?" Kun asked everyone. Yangyang spoke up, "how about we let y/n decide the movie?" Everyone thought it was a good idea and your eyes lit up. "Really? Can we watch Frozen 2 then? I love that movie" you said with a big smile on your face. "Yeah I wanna watch that one too" Xiaojun said smiling. "Okay Frozen 2 it is then" Lucas said while finding the movie. Everyone got in a comfortable position and grabbed a slice each as you watched the movie.
••••••••1 hour and 43 minutes later••••••••
You dried off the tears you had shamelessly shed throughout the movie. "I love that movie so much" you sniffed looking over at the others. You could see that some of them had red eyes just like you, and that amused you. "Yo, what about we play a little game?" Lucas asked everyone. "Okay, what were you thinking about?" Kun answered him as he started to clean up everything. Lucas smirked a little looking one by one in the eyes, once he met yours he said "let's play truth or dare".
Everyone agreed, and once Kun was finished cleaning up, you all sat in a ring on the floor. "So who starts?" You asked looking around at all of them. "Why don't you start?" Yangyang said looking at you. "Oh okay. Winwin, truth or dare?" You asked looking at him. "Truth" he answered. You start to think about what to ask him. "Tell me about your first kiss". He started thinking, looking around the room. "Actually I can't really remember it" you looked at him a little disappointed, but waited for whoever was going to be asked next.
"Kun, truth or dare?" Winwin asked looking at him. "Truth" he answered him while scratching his ear. "Okay, what is your deepest darkest fear?" Winwin asked smirking a little. "Oh that must be a big pile of dirty dishes" Kun answered jokingly. The others started laughing, and you noticed how Ten was smiling. It made your heart flutter. However, when you felt a tap on your shoulder you shifted your gaze hoping you were not caught staring at him.
After some time, most people had chosen truth and some had chosen dares as well. You started feeling a little more confident so the next time you were asked, you had decided to choose dare. "Y/n, truth or dare" Lucas asked you eager to hear your answer. You looked around at everyone, before looking back at Lucas with a smirk on your face. "I choose dare" you answered still smirking.
Now Lucas started smirking back at you, as he knew exactly what dare to give you. "Alright, y/n I dare you to kiss Ten". Your smirk left you face as your eyes widened to be the size of oranges, and your mouth opened a little. Lucas almost started laughing by your reaction. However, Ten looked down at his hands after seeing how you reacted to the dare.
You started to move towards Ten, which you assumed he noticed since his head shot up looking straight into your eyes. You could feel your face start burning as the blush came through in your cheeks. Ten started smiling a little from your reaction, which only made you blush harder than before. Now you were sitting right in front of him, thinking about where to kiss him.
Lucas had not specified where you were going to kiss, so you leaned your head forward next to Tens and gave him a peck on the cheek. When you pulled back you could see that Tens eyes had lit up a little, and you could feel his eyes on you as you sat back to where you were before. The rounds went on, and the blush had not left your cheeks yet.
Often you glanced over at Ten to see some of his reactions, and to your surprise you made eye contact quite a lot after that. "Ten, truth or dare?" Hendery asked with a mischievous smile. "I'll choose dare" Ten said a little hesitating. "I dare you to do 7 minutes in heaven with Y/n" Hendery said while laughing a little. Ten met your eyes just as you bit your lip. You and Ten stood up and went into the nearest bedroom, which to a suspicious coincidense was Tens and Lucas' room.
You were now alone with Ten in his bedroom, sitting beside him on his bed. You looked down at your hands as your heart was racing because of his presence. Ten cleared his throat before talking, "so here we are huh?" He looked at you and you looked up at him, looking into his soft eyes. "Heh yeah" you answered, still shy from the dare you did earlier.
The room was quiet and you could feel the awkwardness creeping up between you. That was until Ten started speaking again. "Y/n I have to tell you something. I have been keeping this secret for a long time, but I just can't keep it in anymore." You noticed him hesitating, which made you look up into his eyes. You had not realised before, but he was also blushing now.
"Y/n" he paused for a second just looking into your eyes, admiring you face. "Y/n I... I really like you. I've liked you for a long time actually. You've been stuck on my mind. Especially when you have been dancing. Every time I close my eyes I either see you dancing, or your face while you're staring right at me. You are so beautiful, and I just can't hide my feelings anymore".
You sat the in the bed in front of him a little shocked. You didn't expect a confession right then, and it certainly did not make your heart beat any slower. Your silence made him a little nervous as he said "I understand if you don't like me back y/n" while looking down at his hands. You were still looking right at him as you prepared to talk. "Ten" you paused feeling your nerves take over a little.
"Ten.... I... l-like you t-too" you said face still red as a tomato. Tens head shot up quickly looking at you with lit up eyes, and an expression that indicated he could not believe what he just heard. "What?" He asked a little confused but happy. "I like you" you said again a little more confident now while still blushing. You were both smiling at each other, just sitting there admiring each others faces.
"Y/n do you want to be my girlfriend?" He asked as his hand touched your cheek. "Yes" you answered smiling as your eyes were glued to his. You sat like that in silence for a little while before Ten spoke again.
"Y/n do you you want to try something?" Your expression turned to a curious one as you just nodded your head. "Okay, just close your eyes and trust me", you hesitated before closing your eyes. You felt his hand caress your cheek and move to your neck, as his other hand rested on your waist. Your frowned you brows until you felt his soft plump lips make contact with your own. You melted in his grip as your lips started to move against each other.
You felt his tongue go over you bottom lip asking for access. Opening your mouth to let him in, you put your arms around his neck while your tongues wresteled in your mouths. As the kiss became more heated he put his hands on your hips and pulled you up on his lap, and there you sat for what felt like an eternity. You didn't want to move, since everything just felt perfect.
You had finally found out that your crush liked you back, and gotten in a relationship with him on the same day. It was like a dream coming true. "Okay guys 7 minutes are u..." you heard Hendery say from what you assumed was the doorframe. You yanked your head back as the embarrassment washed over you. Tens hands was still resting on your hips as you looked back at Hendery with a nervous smile on your face.
"Time's up guys" He said with a smirk and then exited the room. You looked back at Ten and let out a loud sigh as you got off of him and stood by the bed. You two exited hand in hand and everyone could decipher what had happened in the room by just looking at you two. You could feel everyones eyes on you and Ten, but you brushed it off and sat down next to him.
"So it finally happened huh? It was about time" Kun said smirking. You and Ten smiled at each other, and so the game continued.

The One That Got Away || One Shot
Tumblr media
Baekhyun and you are best friends, and you knew both of you wanted more than that, but something is holding him back, and you can't quite grasp what it is.
Fluff, Angst, Angst and Angst
You are stretched out lazily on your bed, reading a novel with your best friend, Baekhyun sitting cross legged beside you. He was on his phone, occasionally laughing and sighing, while scrolling through his twitter account. This is how both of you spent the weekend, almost every week. Your thoughts were too deep into your favourite fictional characters that you didn't even notice him putting down his phone. You only noticed you were frowning when you felt two warm fingers between your eyebrows, smoothing them, making you startled.
These past few months, Baekhyun's touches seemed to affect you a lot more than usual. You felt so odd with those kind of feelings, cause Baekhyun and you had known each other for years. You could even share one bed with Baekhyun when sleeping and feel nothing, but not anymore.
You immediately looked at Baekhyun questioningly.
"Stop frowning, you look ugly," he said jokingly.
"How about now?", You knitted your eyebrows together, even more.
His beautiful laugh filled the room. it's contagious, causing you to laugh too.
This is how it is, when you're around him. It's so warm and bright, no matter what season of the year or which part of the day it is.
He lifted your head and put it gently on his laps. He poked your head softly, causing your gaze to leave the novel in your hands and directed it to him.
"What? I'm not even frowning,", you arched one brow.
"Hey El, random question, what would you want to do, if you knew you had only one day left with me?", he grinned.
Random question is a game both of you created last year. It was a resultant of an eventless and also restless night, where both of you spent all night playing. There are only two rules; which are you need to answer honestly and you are only given five minutes to think about the answer. It could be the most random things, like once, Baekhyun asked if you would rather have tongues as fingers or fingers as tongues. Or even the most serious things, such as when you asked Baekhyun if he'd rather die first and not experience losing you, or experience losing you, but at least he knows, you won't ever be left alone. He used all his five minutes to think and finally chose the latter. In his defense, he said that you can't even cook your own breakfast. Your intention of asking that was actually to tease him about how you'd haunt him after you die, but he looked so serious, unlike how he usually is, so your voice broke, even before you could say a word.
"Why are you asking that, are you leaving me?", you shot him a look.
"No, it is obviously just a random question I saw on twitter, and that made me curious too", his grin still on his face.
You tried to read his face, but he was wearing his stupid grin he always puts on when he's happy, so you knew, he was saying the truth.
You've actually thought of this before, so you immediately answered,
"I will try to forget about the fact that it's my last day with you, and have all the fun i can have with you. So I'll bring you to Disneyland and I hope that night, we could see the first snow together", you smiled at the idea, but you also knew it would break you if Baekhyun ever leave you.
"Why Disneyland, though?",he tilted his head to the side, meeting your gaze. He looked so cute, like a tiny puppy. Your right hand found their way to his hair, your thumb and index finger playing with it, starting from the part near the scalp to the end of his soft brown hair, repetitively. You remembered he once said he loved the gesture, it made him so calm.
"I don't know, it just seemed perfect if we first met because of Disney and we also last met at Disney," you shrugged, almost laughing at the memory of when you first met Baekhyun at the high school library.
Flashback: 4 years ago
You were looking for a novel at the fictional section, when you first saw him, his back facing you. Being the busybody you are, you tiptoed to peek at the book on his hands, and saw the word 'Beauty and the Beast' at the upper side of the page.
"Great taste", you commented.
He turned to you, closing his book too abruptly, causing the hardcover novel to fall on your foot. You winced a bit, but you were grateful you were wearing your sneakers.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry, did it hurt?", he picked up the book from the floor, eyeing your foot for a second.
"No, no it's fine, really," you ignored the tad bit of pain on your toes.
"Can you really walk?", he asked worriedly.
"Yes, yes, don't worry!", and just like that, he went off. Hmph. You sighed inwardly.
The next day, you found him at the same place, again with his back towards you.
"Well, well, look who's here,", you greeted. This time around, he turned around and closed his book but luckily, it didn't fell. He just grinned at you sheepishly.
"I haven't seen you before?", you asked.
"Yeah, I just transferred here yesterday,"
"Oh, you're the handsome one people have been talking about? I'm Elina, by the way," you offered your hand.
"Did YOU find me handsome? I'm Baekhyun," he took your hand, an amused smile adorning his face.
You scoffed. The question caught you off guard.
"Well, you look okay to me, as long as you don't drop your books on my foot", you retorted.
It's his turn to look embarrassed.
"Hey! It wasn't my fault! You were the one who startled me!", he whined.
And that's how you became best friends. You met almost every day at the library, sometimes exchanging opinions about the novel you read and sometimes hanging out at the coffee shop while doing your assignments. Despite the age gap of two years, him older, both of you find time for each other and cherished each other's presence and that was all that matters in your friendship.
Back to the present
"Hey! Stop laughing! I know you're laughing at me!", he jutted his lower lip.
You laughed even more than before.
"Shut up!,"
"Or what?", you said in between your laughs.
"Or I'll kiss you,", he said a little quietly, but you still managed to hear it. You abruptly stopped laughing, you could hear your heart thumping rapidly in your chest.
"Well, that shut you up, you didn't want me to kiss you, that badly, huh", you looked at his face and for a second, you swore you saw a hurt expression on his face, but he immediately smirked, making you question if you're just imagining things.
Fast forward a year later
You just finished your last class for the week, when your phone buzzed. It was a text from Baekhyun.
Bestie 🙄: Wait for me at your uni's parking lot
His university and yours are just a fifteen minutes drive, so you're used to him occasionally picking you up. You replied with a short ok and proceeded to walk to the parking lot.
His face lightened up a bit when he saw you, but you didn't see him. He intentionally honked and you yelped, as you showed him a middle finger.
He was laughing when you were opening the car door, as you cursed under your breath.
"I hate you,", you side eyed him.
"No you don't, you love me, that's why we're best friends,", he grinned.
You felt your heart broke at the word 'best friend', but you ignored it.
"Ugh, stop being so corny,", you replied.
"So, don't freak out,", he turned to you seriously.
"What?"
"Seriously, don't freak out!"
"Byun Baekhyun, I will freak out if you don't tell me right now!", you half yelled.
"Gosh, you're so much fun,", he said sarcastically, while handing you a white envelope.
You tear it open to find a pair of flight tickets and also Disneyland tickets.
"BAEKHYUN!!!! IS THIS FOR REAL!!! WHEN ARE WE GOING??", you were so happy, you screamed as your arms immediately wrapped around him.
He smiled widely as he returned your hug, and he whispered a soft
"right now"
And as if on cue, he detached himself from your hug and immediately started to drive to the airport. He had already packed all your necessities and clothes in the luggage on the backseat. He also asked you to take out the passport from the drawer in front of you. He said he had been planning this for months.
The next day
Today is the day. You woke up with a smile on your face and immediately got ready for your Disneyland visit. You were so ready to have fun today.
You knocked on Bekhyun's door as he opened it. The first thing that greeted your eyes when you closed the door, was his abs. He was asking you which shirt he should wear, but you weren't listening. How could you be listening? You were too absorbed by the view in front of you.
"Liking the view? My eyes are up here, El,", he teased, his two fingers pointing towards his eyes.
You could feel your face burning as you cleared your throat.
"You're so full of yourself,", you rolled your eyes as you picked the plain black shirt, and hurled it to his face. Your favourite look of his is definitely when he wore the plain black shirt with his jeans.
At the Disneyland
Both of you weren't really an adrenaline junkie, but you told Baekhyun you were going to make his money worth it, so you are both going to try ALL the rides in the Disneyland. He also bought the express lane ticket, so that even made it possible for you to do it.
You started with Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Your first ride didn't go so well. Both of you were screaming out of your lungs and clutching each other's hands as if your life depends on it when the ride wasn't even that scary, resulting with both of you earning weird looks given by the little kids that looked like 7 year olds when the ride ended. You and Baekhyun exchanged embarrassed glances and laughed anyways.
You decided to take your words; "trying ALL the rides" back, and proceeded to "try ALL the less scary rides instead", which Baekhyun reacted with a sigh of relief.
It was already noon when your stomach was screaming to be filled, and Baekhyun seemed to hear it too. You looked at him, embarrassed, but he only laughed at you, which made you pout slightly,
"Stop laughing, I'm hungry, dumbass,"
He acted offended, hands clutching his chest dramatically,
"Why should I feed someone who called me dumbass?"
"Fine, I'll say this again, I'm hungry, Baekhyunnnnn,", you said, playing with your intonation a bit.
"Not cute enough,", he looked at you uninterestedly.
You huffed and muttered "Fine bitch, you asked for it," under your breath. "Baekhyunneeee, I said I'm hungryyyy,", you tried again.
You expected for him to react poorly like acting as if he's gagging or something, but instead, he pinched your cheeks and nose as the ends of his lips turned upwards, forming a genuine smile.
"You're so cute, let's get you some food", he said as he took your hand. Damn, if only you knew where all these butterflies in your stomach came from.
Both of you went for the It's a Small World, Slinky Dog Spin and a lot of others to name.
The next thing you knew, it's already 10 past 9.
"El, let's go to the souvenir shop then get ready to get back home,"
"Already?" You asked. It seemed that time flew by too quickly when you're enjoying yourselves. Your shoulders slumped forward as Baekhyun led you to the shop.
It was so bright inside, filled with interesting things that costed an organ. You settled with a small keychain, reminding yourself to not spend too much.
"El, try this," Baekhyun placed a hairband with bunny ears in your hand.
"No, I don't have enough money for this,"
"Come on, I'll buy it for you," he convinced.
"Really? You can't take your words back, Baek!," your face brightened up.
"I wont, El, come on! Try it noww!", he pushed.
You placed the hairband on your head.
"How do I look, Baek?"
His gaze which was originally on the rack, landed on you. This is a new one, you've never seen this gaze before, so you can't quite comprehend it.
"Hey Baek, do i look so pretty that you're speechless or what," you joked.
"Yes,"
"What? Hey Baekhyun! That was supposed to be a joke!", you hit him lightly on the chest, but he managed to catch your wrist. Looking at his frowning face, he looked like he was about to say something.
"Hey, are you okay,", your fingers smoothen his temple, like he always did to you.
"Y-yeah, it's nothing," he looked down to his shoes.
You decided not to push it, cause you knew better that Baekhyun won't tell you something until he's really ready to do it. So instead you changed the mood.
"Baek, we should buy matching ones!", you placed a hairband with matching bunny ears gently on his head.
"Awh, we look so cute, Baekhyun, look at that!" you pointed to the mirror in front of you.
He lifted his head and looked at the mirror, and as if he's looking at the most beautiful view ever, his lips turned into a wide smile, the kind that reaches his eyes.
"That's more like it, take a picture, Baekhyun!",
Both of you were at the counter, Baekhyun paying for the souvenirs you wanted. You tried resisting, but it's no use. You were about to whine about him paying, when you heard the fireworks. Baekhyun immediately took your hand and dragged you to the open space in front of the shop.
You were utterly amazed by the fireworks that you kept silent. A smile crept into your face as you were looking intently at the beautiful fireworks until it ended. It was a whole 20 minutes, but you were too absorbed with it, that caught you speechless. What you didn't know was that, Baekhyun was also doing the same thing, but instead of the fireworks, his eyes was on your face all along, but with a sad smile complimenting his face.
Just after the fireworks ended, the first snow started to fall. You can't believe how perfect the night was.
You turned your head at Baekhyun and found his gaze on you, making you blush, but you didn't really worry if Baekhyun sees it, cause it was dark.
"Liking the view? The fireworks were up there, Baek," you thought that it would be fun to tease him, just like how he teased you this morning.
Snow started falling and immediately melt as it touches your hair and jacket. You raised your hand to let the the snow fall into your palm.
"Baek, look, it's snowing,"
You looked at him, what you didn't expect was his intense gaze on your lips. The atmosphere was so thick, you could cut it with a knife. Again, he looked like he's considering to do something. You saw him almost leaning in, but he stopped midway. His eyes finally meet yours and you saw something break in him, but you can't seem to grasp what it is. In a flash, he broke the eye contact and just said, "Let's get going, we're gonna miss the flight,". He said that as if nothing happened. As if no glances were stolen, as if no feelings were harboured.
You won't lie, you felt disappointed and you could hear your heart shattered into pieces. You know, there's something holding him back, but it is impossible for you to figure it out, if Baekhyun keeps on avoiding it like this.
The journey home was a silent one, until you and Baekhyun were at your door. You were about to say something, when both of you started to talk at the same time. Both of you laughed, you felt the atmosphere lightens.
"You first,", you said.
"Did you have fun tonight?"
"Of course i did! It was never not fun with you, Baekhyun. It is fun even if we're just playing random question,"
Again, the sad smile that didn't reach his eyes. The smile that broke your heart, but you didn't even know why.
"I'm glad we're best friends, Elina. I'm grateful we met. I'm even more grateful you cherished me as much as I cherished you,"
Again, the damned word, 'best friend'
"Stop with the goddamn word 'best friend', Baekhyun, I'm so tired of that shit,", the words that came out of your mouth surprised you. They obviously caught Baekhyun by surprise too.
"What do you mean?",
"Are you blind, Baekhyun? I cherished you more than best friends, Baek. I wanted more than just 'best friends'. Cant you see that I love you?",your voice breaking at the last sentence.
He was silent, so you continued,
"And don't start with the bullshit that you don't feel the same way, cause I know you do. I saw it in your eyes, and I thought I was imagining it, but you almost leaned in, Baek! You almost freaking leaned in! What's holding you back, Baekhyun?", you almost shouted, hot tears already running down your cheeks.
You could see his eyes softened.
"Don't say that, El. You can't love me. Please, I'm begging you, please don't love me, I'm not selfish enough to let you love me and I can't possibly leave you like this!", he sounded so frustrated, yet so sad.
"What does that suppose to mean? Why are you leaving me, Baekhyun? Are you really leaving me? You said you're never gonna leave me,", you asked quietly, not quite believing what you heard.
"Shit," he muttered under his breath.
"Let's talk about this later, El. When we can think straight,"
"No, I need an explanation, right now, Baekhyun,"
"Let's just talk later, El, I'm tired"
At this rate, you're talking without thinking anymore.
"Fine, leave me, Baekhyun, but make sure you don't come finding me back, ever again"
You shut the door on his face.
You made your way to your bed and cried, regretting what you said, but your ego won't let you take your words back.
You woke up with puffy eyes as you trudged lazily to the living room. You saw something in front of the door, right on the floor. Squinting, you saw a white envelope. Baekhyun must've slipped it under the door yesterday. Rage fills all over you, so you picked it up and shoved it into the trashcan.
You weren't having it today, so you lazily slouched on the sofa, watching tv all day. That's when you heard the bell. It was 9 in the evening, for god's sake. You were about to yell at the person disturbing your evening, but you saw an out-of-breath chanyeol in front of you. You could feel something bad is happening,
"Chanyeol, what's wrong?"
"Baekhyun- hospital- not much time", chanyeol explained in between breaths.
Your heart's pace quickened at chanyeol's explanation. Is this really happening? That's when the thought dawned at you. This was what's holding him back. You could feel the world's crashing down on you.
The next thing you knew, you were already beside Baekhyun in a hospital room. He smiled to you weakly, when you wrapped your hands around his.
"B-Baekhyun..", you meant to ask what's wrong, but you ended up sobbing.
"Shh.. El, it's okay. I'm fine, really," his hands caressed your hair gently, as he pulled you to sit in his bed, beside him.
You got thousand of questions, like how serious is his illness, what is his illness, but you kept quiet, cause you don't believe yourself to say anything without crying.
"El, can i request something?"
You nodded.
"Can we act like I'm not sick? Let's act like how we always were, hanging out at your place," he said weakly.
Baekhyun's request broke your heart for the thousandth time. You took a deep breath, closed your eyes and nodded. You told yourself that you had to be strong for Baekhyun. You opened your eyes and smiled widely at him. He returned it and you forcefully joked, "What are you smiling at, creepy,"
His laugh resonated throughout the room. You laughed too, and you were determined to fulfil your best friend's wish, no matter how much it hurts you.
Both of you were laughing at everything and anything, considering that this is the last time you're sharing laughs. You were playing random question and baekhyun's teasing you all the time, until it was suddenly silent. He finally said it.
"El, I don't have much time left,"
That's when the dam broke, that's when you took off whatever mask you've put on. Tears came gushing down your cheeks and this time, you didn't even try to hold it in. Baekhyun can't seem to hold his tears too, cause the sight of you crying was breaking him into a million pieces, but he kept on saying it's okay, while his thumbs busy wiping your tears.
"Baekhyun, if only I knew..", you sobbed again.
"No, it wasn't your fault, El. I made this choice,"
When both of you knew you don't have much time left, you sat silent, enjoying each other's company for the last time. Baekhyun could feel his time is near, so he whispered, "I'm sorry I can't keep my promise, Elina,"
You also knew his time was coming, so you just shook your head.
"No, Baekhyun, don't say that", you placed your head on his chest.
"I'm sorry I can't stick with you til the end, like I promised. I'm sorry I'm leaving.. you.. first," he struggled saying the last few words.
You were already panicking, your hands trying to reach for the emergency switch, but Baekhyun stopped your hand.
"You're gonna be fine, Baekhyun, we're gonna be fine,", your tears stained baekhyun's shirt but you didn't care.
"I.. love.. you.. El..." this time, Baekhyun's breath was much shallower.
"I love you too, Baek,",
That was the first and last time both of you got to say 'i love you' just like how you meant it, nit the best-friend-i-love-yous, but the real i-love-you. Fate is such a mean word, you think. Just like that, he left you. He left you alone to navigate through the harsh world by yourself. You felt lost. You felt regret washing all over you. But the most dominant one you're feeling, is the feeling of rage. You were mad at Baekhyun for leaving you. You were mad at Baekhyun for not telling you the truth. You were mad at Baekhyun for lying to you all this time. As if you were possessed, you shook Baekhyun's lifeless bod roughly.
"Baekhyun, why did you leave me? How could you leave me, Baek? You said you were gonna see me leave first, cause I can't even cook my own breakfast! Then why... why are you leaving me Baekhyun..." you continued crying. You suddenly remembered about the letter Baekhyun slipped under the door. You ran outside, ignoring how your legs are protesting, catching a cab home. Your visions are so blurry with tears, it's such a miracle you found the crumpled piece of envelope in the trash can.
Dear Elina,
My best friend, my love, my laughing gas, my day maker, my everything.
If you're reading this, that means I failed to muster my courage to tell you everything after we went to Disneyland. I actually started writing this the day after you told me you would bring me to Disneyland if you knew it was your last day with me. I'm not really sure how much time I have left, but the doctors are saying I'm fine, as if I don't know the truth. I'm not sure when will I have to book all the tickets to bring you to Disneyland, and also, oh my god the passports! But don't worry, I've already asked the doctor to tell me if I don't have much chance left, so I can plan carefully when we'll be going, El! Im such a genius, hee ^*^ 3/5/17
You stopped reading, as you laughed, but the pain in your heart has actually worsened.
Anyways I was actually contemplating if I should tell you I like you but the other day you kept quiet when i said i'd kiss you if you keep laughing. I guess you didn't like me back :< but it's okay!! At least I didn't tell you my confession first!!! It would have been awkward for us T^T 3/5/17
But I loved you, Baekhyun, if only I got to say that earlier..
The treatment hurts me so bad T_T
5/7/17
I wish I was there for you..
The doctor stopped my treatments cause I'm not getting any better, and cause it hurts me much more than it should be :/ 5/12/17
Hey, I haven't updated cause for a moment, i thought I would at least have a few years, but just now during my appointment the doctor told me I don't have much time left. Not sure if I should feel sad cause that means im gonna leave soon or if I should feel happy cause the doctor finally let me go to the Disneyland!! Usually I wasn't allowed to go anywhere with adrenaline rush like the theme park, but I begged the doctor and I said I'm going to die soon anyways, so... i'm booking the tickets 8/6/18
Why should I die, El? Am I a bad guy? Why me? I'm scared. <\3 8/10/18
You're not a bad guy, Baek, you're such an angel, everybody loves you, I, love you, Baekhyun.
You almost stopped reading cause your hearts aches so so much, but you continued anyways. This one was written right after you fought.
Hey El, tonight we had a big fight and I regretted not telling you the truth earlier. I regretted not seeing the signs earlier. I regretted not saying that I love you, and I regretted for being such a coward. If only I told you I love you earlier, if only I was selfish enough, maybe we could have been happier, even if for a short time. I'm sorry, El. I'm sorry for breaking your heart tonight, but I can't let you love me, and then leave you forever. It's not fair for you. It's not fair for us. You deserved so much more, Elina. You deserved someone who could love you as much as I did, but you deserved someone who won't leave you, just like how i will. 9/12/18
Goodbye, Elina. I'd have waited longer, but I really need to go, please be happy. 6 am, in front of your door, 10/12/18.
This was written 2 hours after you shut the door at Baekhyun's face. The thought of him spending 2 hours on your doorstep broke you.
You could see tear stains on the paper, and it wasnt yours. Desperately You searched for more writings, flipping the papers, checking every piece of them, but you knew that was the last one. You regretted everything you said last night but you couldnt do anything anymore. The times you spent with Baekhyun flashed across your mind. The time both you laughed so hard, until you feel pain in your stomach, the time you cried in his embrace because your pet died, the time when he got really mad at you because you were singing to Katy Perry's The One that Got Away. It all makes sense now and you realised you can't do that anymore. At last, you just put the piece of paper down, as you cried until it numbs your broken heart.
