(BAU Headcanons) If you fell asleep on them

A/N: So... guess who fell into another fandom? I blame everyone on here and their amazing fics for convincing me I need to give this show and wonderful cast a chance. I may have binged 13 seasons in like a month... oops? I'm also looking at my fav BAU bunch here but I'm open to writing for other characters from the show

Aaron Hotchner

Just like some of the other members of his team, Hotch has a hard exterior that very few people manage to crack through.

If you and he are in a relationship then I can bet you’ve already had to chip away at it, so you’re already pretty intimate with one another. Falling asleep on him is nothing to bat an eyelid at. If anything, he would welcome the opportunity to relax and hold you close to him.

It also gives him an excuse to steal a few moments of sleep himself, not daring to move and wake you from your rest.

He loves holding you close, letting himself listen to the steady beating of you heart as it gently lulls him to become calm enough to shut his eyes.

However, if you weren’t in a relationship or if it happened in front of the others at the BAU then you know he’d immediately react by saying something about ‘work place conduct’.

However, he’s clearly saying it for the sake of it as he’d make no effort to wake you or remove you from him.

In fact, he makes sure to stay still and let you rest peacefully, making sure your neck isn’t bent so you don’t wake up in pain.

He’d also make sure to lay his jacket over the top of you, a clear sign that you are not to be disturbed - under pain of death.

David Rossi

Rossi would be the first to complain if you ever fell asleep on him but it’s all good natured. In fact, he only ever complains about it to you after you’ve woken up and only as a joke between the two of you.

“What am I? Just a pillow to you? Are you trying to say my cooking has made me plump?”

It’s hard to resist his charming smile, especially when he actually is rather comfortable to lean on. His expensive shirts are always soft to the touch, and the cologne you’d brought him last Christmas lingers as you nestle in close.

He always make you feel safe, and that is an honour greater than any he’d ever been awarded.

If it happened in front of the others you know he’d roll his eyes and mutter about the cheek of it all. However, his smile would be enough to tell the others he didn’t mean it.

“I started reading my manuscript and this is what happens… guess that’s one way to leave a review.”

He’d be sure to shoot daggers with his eyes at anyone else nearby who looked like they would wake you up.

He’d also shoot down any possible jokes being made at your expense, his parental nature coming out in full force.

Derek Morgan

This boy would be so smug if you ever fell asleep on him. Like, if you imagine a Labrador’s tail wagging with one of those big dopey grins, then that’s what he is.

He is keen to try and capture the moment with a picture, setting it as his phone background to prove to himself it really happened.

If it happens in front of the rest of the team then you know he is going to keep reminding you and everyone else whenever he gets the chance.

However, you know that for all the bragging and teasing Morgan is actually super touched by the fact you fell asleep on him and he is keen to offer you a place to lay your head whenever you look like you need to take a beat.

He even has a blanket and pillow in his go-bag especially for you.

“Only the best for you, hot stuff.”

He will never complain about it and - considering how much torture and pain we know this man can endure - he is more than capable of handling any cramp or pins and needles he gets as a result of you lying against him.

Eventually, he would take the opportunity to try and sleep as well. With his job and his manic lifestyle, if he gets the chance to close his eyes he knows better than to waste it.

Emily Prentiss

She would be shocked at first, especially if it’s early-on in your relationship. She isn’t really used to public displays of affection and you sleeping with your head on her shoulder is pretty public.

She would stay as still as possible, though, scared of disturbing you or ruining the moment. She’d also probably be panicking internally, unsure what she was supposed to do.

However, she soon takes a breath and relaxes. After all, you look so cute when you’re asleep and she is honoured you feel comfortable enough to relax around her like this.

She doesn’t often get the chance to just sit and be peaceful so she savours the moment you’ve given her.

She’d end up watching you for a while before relaxing and trying to adjust you so that you’re both comfortable.

She would also take the opportunity to be affectionate, loving that she can run her hands through your hair and kiss your head without any fear of being embarrassed or rejected.

After all, we know Emily has a soft centre underneath her tough, bad-ass exterior. She just needs to know she is able to express it.

JJ is such a mom to everyone including you, so is over the moon the first time you fall asleep on her. She welcomes it with open arms, happy to melt into the embrace.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been together long or not, or if you’re in public. Either way, it feels like a personal badge of honour to be trusted in such a way, whether or not you meant to do it.

She has enough patience not to move a muscle in case she disturbs you and ruins the moment. She knows that if you fell asleep like this then you probably need the rest.

JJ would totally form a blanket cocoon around you to keep you warm and toasty as you sleep, wrapping her arms around you and cradling you close.

She’d smile the whole time, pressing kisses to the crown of your head and gently murmuring in your ear whenever you seem to stir.

“Ssssh, Sleepyhead. It’s ok. I got you. Go back to sleep, honey.”

If it was just the two of you then she’d be sure to try and move you somewhere more comfortable after a while, like the sofa or your bed.

However, if you were in public then she would turn into a full mama bear and threaten anyone who came close or tried to disturb you. She has that angry mom look down to a fine art and has made grown men wither with it.

Penelope Garcia

This beautiful baby angel would be so delighted if you fell asleep against her that she’d probably wake you up by accident after squealing a little too loudly.

“Oh, oh, sorry. Sorry! Go back to sleep. I’m staying as still as a statue, you precious angel, I promise. So you just close your eyes and let me hold you.”

She’d probably manage like five minutes before she moves again and wakes you up, but it was enough time for her to steal a few private photos to commemorate the moment.

They will most definitely be the background on her computer the following morning, and possibly yours too.

She would also be sure to make sure she has a blanket and pillow stashed away for you if you ever felt like taking an impromptu nap again when you weren’t at home.

If you worked at the BAU they’d be kept in her lair - or your private napping room, as she tells you.

They’d also be brightly coloured and super soft, chosen specifically by Penelope to make you as comfortable and as happy as possible, even whilst at the government building.

“Just so you know, I gave them a spritz with this gorgeous lavender mist spray to help you knock right out the moment your pretty head hits the pillow. So, sweet dreams honeybun.”

Dr Spencer Reid

Spencer is a precious boy and would be utterly baffled at first if he looked down and realised you had fallen asleep on him.

He would be surprised he hadn’t noticed you drooping against him sooner, or that your breathing had slowed as you fell asleep.

At first he thinks it must be a mistake, immediately trying to ease you off of him. After all, he wasn’t the most comfortable person to sleep on and people are far more likely to find his company irksome rather than soothing.

However, after you start doing it more often he realises that isn’t the case.

In fact, he feels rather proud that you’ve got the point in your relationship where you aren’t afraid to relax around him.

He also learns how not to let it over-stimulate him. It takes some time to train his mind to not think about the possible pathogens that could be passing between you or the way your hair tickles his face. He’s also able to talk to you about positions to curl up in if you ever want to sleep against him again, that he feels more relaxed in.

He’d also totally be happy to tell you all about whatever his latest hyper-fixation is, knowing the sound of his voice helps you settle better than any lullaby.

Texting the BAU: Would they still love you if you were a worm?

I'm not sure if anyone's ever done this before, but I was inspired by the AI voice tiktok that I saw of 'Hotch' answering this question! The user that posted the tiktok I saw was 'shiftershiz', I thought their video was really cool and I owe them the inspiration for this post!

(BAU Headcanons) Spending a day off with your S.O.

Aaron Hotchner

Ok. So. First of all... Aaron's casual wardrobe is sinful and I feel like I need to mention it when talking about days off. After all, he's not going to turn down the excuse not to wear a shirt and tie, knowing jeans and his usual polo shirts are better suited to both relaxing and possibly chasing after Jack.

If you two ever got a rare day off then he would do his best to make you breakfast in bed, knowing that having an excuse to stay in bed is a luxury.

If Jack is with you, and not at Jessica's, then you know Jack would be right next to him in the kitchen, begging to help. I mean, if you watch Bluey, picture the episode where Bingo is trying to make that omelette for Bandit on his birthday... that's basically the vibe here.

Hotch wouldn’t try to force you out of the house if you didn’t want to go, as he’s perfectly happy to stay in and play with you and Jack. After all, you have the most recent lego set, which you bought him for his birthday, to finish building.

"You up for that buddy? Six hands are better than four, after all."

Or, if you don't have the energy or patience, then you three can curl up on the sofa together and watch movies and the backlog of tv shows you’ve missed out on whilst you’ve been away working.

Fun Fact: Aaron would rather die than admit to the rest of the BAU that you got him hooked on reality shows like The Real Housewives of Beverley Hills or Below Deck -but he is. He finds them fascinating case studies in human behaviour... or that's his excuse anyway when you call him out on it.

However, if you do want to actually leave the house and get outside then he’d be pretty relaxed about whatever it is you wanted to do, as long as you could all do it together.

He'd also love it if you both got the chance to go for a run, enjoying the rare opportunity to race you through the nearby park. You can just soak in the sunshine and watch the other people as they make their way through the world, before grabbing a coffee on your way home.

David Rossi

Rossi is a man who knows the value of creature comforts, as we've seen repeatedly in the show. You know this man enjoys having time off to indulge himself - and you too.

As soon as he knows he has the day off, you can bet he's driving you to the local farmer's market to buy all the ingredients needed for a home cooked feast.

Despite promising to be there only an hour, you know he's the kind of person who would talk to each and every vendor, learning all their names and asking after their families as if they've been friends since birth.

You'd end up spending almost the entire morning - and part of the afternoon - shopping, sampling various treats and wares, and buying several bag's worth, before you're finally able to drag him back to the car.

As he's cooking, Rossi would definitely play his favourite records. He alternates between crooning along and telling you tidbits about the artists - and the many crazy memories he has about these records.

"Did I ever tell you about the time I first heard this? We were in this tiny little motel, in the middle of a horrific blizzard, and several whiskeys in..."

It's hard not to get distracted, drawn in as he pulls you close and starts dancing about the kitchen. You'd get so distracted that you almost let dinner spoil and only remember it's even there when you start to smell something burning.

"Ah! Merda!"

After dinner you know you'd end up outside on his patio, enjoying the view as the sun goes down, over a cocktail of his choosing.

Derek Morgan

You know this eager beaver would not be spending a day off with you doing nothing or letting the day ‘go to waste’.

He’d be at your doorstep bright and early, looking unfairly energetic for someone who has been running on minimal sleep all week.

Thankfully, he brings coffee and breakfast with him which is his way of bribing you to get your ass up and out with him.

As for the day itself, he’d either have the day planned to a ’t’ or he’d have nothing planned at all.

“Relax, sweetness, we’re letting the day take us where it may. Enjoy the ride.”

He'd love having a reason to take you to whatever property he's renovating, hoping to share his vision for the place and getting your opinion on it all.

He'd even let you have a swing or two with a sledgehammer if there's a dry-wall that needs taking down. It's a great stress-reliever for you both, and there's nothing like hammering along in the time to beat of whatever playlist he's chosen.

He'd also order you a pizza, or whatever take-out you fancied, as payment for all your hard work.

You know he'd also been keen to help you wash up later, running you both a hot bath to soak in as you actually have the time to enjoy it.

And just between us - he knows Hotch and Rossi would have his guts his they found out - but he may or may not have left your cellphones on the bed-side table just to ensure you get an hour of peace, undisturbed...

Emily Prentiss

Ok. So. Emily loves having a day off almost as much as she enjoys working.

She doesn't require much in the way of plans. In fact, her ideal day off from the BAU involves you, a crossword puzzle, and your usual table by the window at the coffee shop around the corner.

It's right by the window, so you can bathe in the sun whilst you nurse your way through coffee after coffee.

The whole place reminds her of one similar that she spent her time in, in Paris. Just like then, she loves reading books, and completing the daily crossword with your help.

"Damn it. This is what time in Europe gets you - I forgot there's no 'u' in color. No wonder it wasn't fitting."

Emily also has a game she likes to play, watching the people around you, guessing what their stories are and imaging outlandish profiles for them all. It's a privilege to enjoy it when it's for entertainment and not out of a need to be aware of your surroundings or an ongoing threat assessment.

Afterwards, you'd go for a stroll around the park and most likely visit the shops you rarely get a chance to.

You both spend ages going through the racks and modelling outfits for one another, knowing you need some new things to fill out your wardrobes other than work-attire. It's a like private treat for yourselves.

Once you're home again, I feel Emily would want to cook and would do a pretty good job when she has the energy. However, she is not above ordering takeout when you both can’t be bothered.

After all, it gives you both more time together to lie in bed, with Sergio curled up between you, purring loudly as you take it in turns to pet him.

Depending on when you two got together (before or after Will), she would love to have a chance for the both of you to spend the day with Henry.

You're her family and the most important thing in the world to her. It's why she can't stop beaming as you spend the afternoon at the park together, running rings around the place and clambering all over the playground.

"I swear this kid is faster than most of the Unsubs we chase - and more sneaky too."

JJ would bring all your favourite snacks with her so you can all lie out on the grass and feast once your energy levels drop. She doesn't even mention the sugar content or how many E-numbers there are. You all deserve a treat, Henry included, so she's willing to put her 'mom hat' aside for a minute.

I feel like she'd also try and put her mom hat aside so you two can have some time without a child in tow. She'd try and make a last minute arrangement to get a sitter so you two can have some 'adult' time.

This normally involves making a reservation at your favourite restaurant, and insisting on you both dressing fancy just for the fun of it.

After all, you never get to play at being grown ups and just enjoy wearing something because it looks nice and not because you can run around in the field in it.

"I've had these heels for years and I swear I've only got to wear them like three times - and this skirt! I love this skirt."

Once you get to the restaurant, you spend hours just talking, drinking, and eating before taking a stroll on the way home.

You then curl up in bed and fall asleep to the sound of the TV playing your favourite movies, safe and warm in each other's arms.

Penelope Garcia

This girl is the queen of relaxing. If she doesn’t have to be awake before noon then you can bet your ass she’ll be tucked up and toasty till 12:01.

Once she's awake, however, she's a flustered mess, struggling to pick between her various plans for your time off together. There's just so much she wants to do with you and never enough time.

"What? I'm the queen of fun and I just want to make sure we make the most of our time together, sugar plum. I can't help it. I'm excited to have a day just you and me, not that I don't love the others too. I do, but you know, just having it be us is rare -"

You stop her rambling with a kiss, which of course makes her melt.

I feel like Penelope would always try and spend part of the day with you in the kitchen, baking a new recipe to take to work for the others to try.

She'd also love spending the day on the sofa with you, watching either a Rom-com or a Sci-fi marathon (depending on your moods).

Once the decision has been made, she'd insist on gathering supplies - AKA: onesies, takeout and face masks.

"It's the holy trinity of self-care," she explains, holding up your choices. "Now, do you want the tea-tree or coconut face mask?"

However, if you do feel like getting out of the house, then Penelope would take you on theatre trips - which are booked last minute but with amazing seats (courtesy of Penelope’s connections and slightly unorthodox know-how).

The others are still jealous after finding out she got you tickets to Hamilton, front row, with the original cast.

Dr Spencer Reid

You know Spencer is the kind of person that has a list of things the size of his arm that he’d love to do with you on a rare day off.

You’d probably have to negotiate with him to figure out which ones you could reasonably do in just 24 hours - and you try to find a balance between appeasing his interests and yours.

For example, you don’t mind sitting through a Russian movie festival if afterwards he agrees to let you wander around your favourite bookshop and spend as long as you want exploring the shelves - without him critiquing or spoiling the endings before you even have a chance to read the blurb.

If you also happened to let it slip that you'd never watched every single episode of Doctor Who that's ever been made, then you know your future days off will be spent marathoning on the couch.

"I'm just saying that he's underrated as the Doctor as arguably the narratives of his episodes are far better developed and reflect the point of the show, which is that the Doctor isn't perfect but rather a time-travelling refugee who acts as a healer, counsellor, and protector of the universe. It's why he calls himself 'The Doctor' ..."

He always looks so adorable when he gets excited about something he loves. It's hard not to fall in love with him all over again.

Apart from watching TV, you both also love spending days off on that couch, curled up together, reading your way through the stack of books you both had in your never ending ‘TBR’ pile.

Spencer would love listening to you discuss whatever you're reading, doing his best to memorise the characters, plots, and your thoughts on both. It's the least he can do when you listen so patiently every time he starts rambling on about whatever his latest hyper-fixation is.

"Can I... can I borrow that when you're finished? I'm now curious - just don't tell the others, ok?"

summary: the criminal minds characters and what movie they’d go see with you!

notes: this might be lame or wtv but i thought it was a little cute!

aaron hotchner

He for sure wanted to see Oppenheimer, but the two of you compromised and saw both of the movies on two different days. You guys brought jack with you to see Barbie and although he enjoyed Oppenheimer, he would never admit that he enjoyed barbie a lot more.

spencer reid

Like aaron, the two of you saw both movies. You also dressed up as Barbie, and he dressed up in a similar full pink outfit, although he was reluctant at first, but when he saw how happy you were he didn’t mind the bright pink outfits.

derek morgan

Oh, he happily agreed to see Barbie with you. He wasn’t interested in Oppenheimer when he saw the trailer and didn’t want to see it. The two of you for sure dressed up as Barbie and Ken and even ended up inviting Penelope to see it with you, as she spent the entire day talking about how much she wants to see it.

jennifer jareau

She loved Barbie when she was younger and honestly, she was more excited to see it then you were. She had your outfits planned weeks before the two of you went to the theatre. She left the theatre crying.

emily prentiss

She wasn’t overly excited to either, but she ended up going to Barbie with you and really enjoyed it. She for sure started crying a little at the end and kept talking about the scenes with all the moms and how her mom was.

penelope garcia

She obviously went to see Barbie with you and absolutely loved it. She cried half the time, and kept talking about it when it was over. She also hosted a Barbie party for the team when it was released online and went all out with pink decorations, pink drinks, pink cupcakes, just everything pink. It became one of her favourite movies for sure.

Just saw the Barbie movie, so a quick thought???

Spencer reid x reader There are no spoilers, but just to be safe, don't read unless you've seen the movie.

Spencer and you had finally had a day off, and though your work colleagues invited you to hang out with them, you already had plans.

"Do I really have to wear this?" Spencer complains about his pink sweater vest.

"Yes, Spence! I tried to make it as comfortable as I could for you. Everyone is doing it, and I want to as well. Plus, you can't say no to me, right?" You heard him huff and then shuffle around the living room. Presumably looking for his keys and wallet. Though they were in your room, so you grabbed them as you walked out.

"Do you know where my..." He trailed off as he saw your outfit. Pink, that was the first and only word that came to mind.

"What do you think?!" Passing him the keys and wallet you twirled about and smiled happily. He took longer than you expected to answer, and it made your heart drop a bit. Was this too much? You didn't want to go crazy, but you wanted to have fun.

But as he stepped closer to you, a smile grew on his face. He reached for your hand and spun you around before pulling you close.

"You are the most stunning Barbie I have ever seen." He kissed you all over your face causing you to pull back.

"Don't ruin the makeup, baby!" You rushed over to the couch to pick up your zip up before pulling him out the door.

Handing you a tissue from his pocket, you gratefully took it. Spencer then moved to rub your back gently.

The movie had ended, and your heart felt a little less heavy. All those years ago, you remember playing with your Barbie, all the places you brought her. She was your best friend, someone you confided in about all the trivial arguments you had with your mother.

Stepping out of the theater was almost worse. It felt like you were saying goodbye to part of your childhood again. But you leaned on Spencer, much like you always have, because he was your rock. He was your Allan.

Wiping your nose before quickly discarding the tissue, you kissed Spencer on the cheek, his nose scrunched up as you did.

"Thank you for coming with me, Spencer. That meant a lot." You could still hear the stuffiness in your nose. But he just looked down at you and smiled, something shining in his eyes.

"Of course, sweetheart." He returned the kiss with one of his own to the top of your head.

On your way out, you saw turns of pink going out and in of the theater. Though someone caught your eye.

"Y/N!!! SPENCER!!!" You heard the familiar heel clacking and the heavy boots scuffing the ground. Then you almost got tackled by Penelope without even getting a good look at her. She squeezed you incredibly tight. You could hear Derek patting Spencer on the shoulder.

"Did you guys just watch it, too?" Spencer questioned, though when Penelope pulled back, and you got a good look at her face, you could tell the answer. If you were the definition of pink right now, Penelope was double pink. And she looked gorgeous.

"You got dragged into watching it, too?" Derek chuckled. But you saw how his eyes were the slightest bit puffy. "I thought the ending was a bit... eh."

Yours and Penelopes heads snapped towards him. Then he looked like a deer caught in headlights. Spencer even looked a bit taken back.

"What?!" You and Penelope asked in unison.

"Well, I just mean, I wish they showed more with the mom and Barbie. You know?" He crossed his arms, not once breaking eye contact.

In a moment, the rage that had built in you dulled. That made sense. It ended perfectly in your opinion, and Derek's point was valid.

"Okay. You get a pass, Derek Morgan, that was a reasonable thought." Penelope announced. "Now, shall we go get some ice cream? It's the boys' treat!" She exclaimed as she linked arms with you. The boys laughed before following.

Alex Blake

- She may not look it, but loves and values physical contact and this makes her a big fan of cuddling, especially on mentally exhausting days. Alex often lies on the sofa in the living room, on the sun lounger when it's hot, with a book in hand, just waiting for you to join in, once that happens she'll have her head lying against your chest, arm under your body, free hand stroking hair or gently rubbing your back while she reads silently.

Elle Greenaway

- She's like a cuddly bear, barely able to keep her hands off you for long and this can make her seem a bit clingy, but it's hard not to give in when she makes that cute puppy face. Elle loves to have her arm around you in any situation, stroke all your soft spots and occasionally tease you with a few tickles. If you are shorter, she will delight in laying the head on top of yours and smelling hair, fingers tracing invisible words on your skin.

Emily Prentiss

- Calm and intimate moments are by far her favorite, understandable considering the chaotic and tense nature of her job. Some days, Emily just wants to lie down and be held being the little spoon, feeling the comfort and tranquillity that the warmth of your body offers. Other days she wants to be face to face, running her fingertips over your face, memorizing and appreciating every detail as you talk about respective days, sharing the good and the bad things.

Jennifer Jareau

- In previous relationships, the blonde didn't have the habit of cuddling so often, maybe it was the dynamic or the trying to juggle work, but with you it's a necessity. There's nothing better than coming home, having a hot bath and throwing herself into the arms of her lover in bed, arms wrapped around your waist and head lying against chest, feeling your heart beat, listening to the breathing until both fall asleep. The boys are very affectionate, so spending lazy family mornings on the bed/sofa becomes habitual, sometimes watching animations.

Penelope Garcia

- As well as loving pet names and PDA, obviously Penelope would love to cuddle. She's vibrant, expressive and very affectionate, plus has an inexplicable obsession with your hands, she'll always be rubbing it and drawing imaginary shapes. In the privacy of home, she'll have you in her arms at any moment, hugging behind the back while preparing dinner, legs entwined and stroking soft spots on the skin when watching series, etc. And it's not as if work stops her, at the first opportunity Garcia puts you on her lap or sits on yours, holding hands, intimate conversations that make the days better.

Tara Lewis

- In contrast, at first she's not so keen on cuddling for no reason and gradually learns to love these moments. Tara even creates a kind of ritual, turning off the light or closing the curtains to leave the room pleasantly dark, putting on some soft background music and grabbing a blanket to cover you both up, there's nothing better than lazy afternoons in each other's arms. Her fingers stroking your hair as she gives you soft kisses on the forehead and cheeks, sharing a glass of wine between loving words.
