Tony has always only trusted himself.
Sure, people are great sometimes, and he tries to trust them. he really does. but when he’s really in danger, he always calls out to his own creations for help. He only trusts the things he’s built.
Because Tony Stark has been stabbed in the back enough times to never let anything he didn’t make himself have his back
But when he starts noticing odd gaps in his memory, and starts noticing patterns that don’t match up, he starts wondering if he can even trust himself.

As much as we shit on Phase Four of Marvel and it's seemingly disconnected nature, I think it's imperative for us to recognize the underlying theme of it; grief. Spoilers for Wakanda Forever under the cut.
Rolling through from Endgame, the undertones of grief have been sprinkled throughout all of the projects under this phase (I can't really speak for I Am Groot, Miss Marvel and the Eternals though because I haven't seen those yet so those will not be mentioned) and, upon watching Wakanda Forever, that realization finally set in. Grief isn't black and white in nature and, as @pizzee mentioned in a post on how Wakanda Forever portrayed Shuri's grief as non-linear, these projects show us how grief can impact these characters and how it has the potential to corrupt. It manifests differently for everyone, and everyone grieves for different reasons--grieving for what could have been (Moon Knight, Wandavision, Loki (to an extent), She-Hulk), grieving for lost loved ones (Wakanda Forever, Shang-chi, NWH, Moon Knight, WandaVision, Hawkeye, Thor Love and Thunder), grieving for lost innocence (Wakanda Forever, NWH, Shang-chi, Moon Knight, WandaVision). These are very broad classifications, however, because each instance is deeper and more intricate than the basic tags. Infinity War and Endgame showed us that winning has a cost, that our heroes aren't forever and can be taken away from us at any given point. We lost Tony, Steve, Nat, Vision, Gamora, Loki, T'Challa--and those losses resonate through out this universe, leaving holes that cannot be filled. And this grief can leave destruction in it's wake; Vision, Tommy and Billy's "death" for Wanda, Aunt May's death for Peter, T'Challa and Queen Ramonda's death for Shuri, Abdullah El-Faouly's death for Layla, Ying-Li's death for Wenwu--the list can go on and on. Grief can bleed into one's heart like a poison, driving them forward like a blade cutting through the haze of retribution, and I think that's the most fascinating thing about this phase. We see both sides of it--the healing and the destruction--and for once, we see it for how it truly is. Grief and loss has the potential to be dangerous and Marvel has really shown us this during this phase, with Wakanda Forever, in my opinion, being the best example of this. I'd love to go more in depth with the beauty of WF, but I'd rather save that for another post. And I'd like to apologize if this is a bit all over the place, I mostly just wanted to get my thoughts out there and hopefully I can build off of this.

percy jackson x marvel crossover rec list
The twitter exodus has made me re-realize the joy of being cringe and free, so here are my 4 fave pjo/marvel crossovers!
Annabeth knows everything by everdeen6
1435 words
It probably had to do with Peter Parker's frequent disappearances. So either he was a monster, a demigod who was in hiding or something else. Either way he was a potential threat. So Annabeth did something every rational not paranoid teen would do. She became his lab partner and bugged his school bag. Or the fic where Peter thinks Annabeth is just a friendly neighborhood ninja mentor to him until Annabeth decides to single-handedly fix everything post NWH.
Demigods at Midtown oneshot #1. Annabeth's characterization-- and Peter's confusion-- is everything! Fix-it fic.
glass figures by ahermioneh
211796 words
I lifted my gun, pointing it towards the minefield of shattered fragments, and kicked the small coffee table out of the way. Only to stare down at an awfully familiar face, which split into a somewhat lopsided grin. The intruder raised his hands in a mocking surrender. “Long time no see, dude.” I lowered the gun. “What the hell are you doing in South Peru?” Or in which Clint Barton and Percy Jackson have a long personal history that starts in high school.
This is my #1 absolute favorite Percy Jackson/Marvel fic. It's excellently written, it's long, and it's funny. I adore Natasha's characterization.
The Blue Food Project by liketolaugh
59537 words (as of 11/8/22)
Foggy meets Sally in a grocery store, sees the three bottles of food coloring in her cart, and listens to her talk about how much her son loves it for about ten minutes before he decides he's in love. About four months later, Natasha drops by the Jacksons' apartment to take her first close look at the child that heralds the realization of the Great Prophecy. She thinks he looks small.
This fic has characters from the Avengers and Daredevil! Percy is 14, which is a refreshing take on a familiar trope. Well-written, excellent characterization.
They'll Talk About Us and Discover by pherb
5776 words
MJ didn't get curious about just anything. And while everyone was curious about the two new seniors at their school, MJ had a gut feeling to believe there was something more to them. Or: Percy and Annabeth attend Midtown
Demigods at Midtown oneshot #2. I love the outsider POV and MJ's analysis. A fun take on the trope!

Deja Vu: Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Fandom: All Spiderverses
Ships: Parksborn(Webb), Peter 2/Peter 3,
Rating/Word Count/Status: Explicit, WIP
Tags: Angst fic, fill-in scenes for Andrew!Peter post TASM2 and during NWH, backstory chapters, hurt comfort, Sick!Harry, Goblin!Harry
TW: Mentions of suicide attempt, hospital scenes, needle mention,
Summary:
The quantum pull has Parker flying backward, up, left, and then down at speeds faster than the interstate average. The force pulling in the center of his gut like an umbilical cord is worse than it was the first time he Quantem Lept, and when he reaches up to touch his ears, he notices one of them is bleeding. Parker screams the entire way down. He knows he does because his throat aches and his lungs beg for oxygen, even if he can’t hear a sound.
He’s lucky that of all the things to fall on in New York City he falls on grass, but still, thanks to the intense speed and force of gravity, it fucking hurts when he lands. He startles a flock of pigeons when he craters the earth, but thankfully, because of the location, there aren’t many human patrons to notice his explosion. Something cracks like its broken, but the adrenaline currently coursing through his veins has him standing without thinking twice. Another thing he notices, when he can keep his vision from spinning, is that Pete is nowhere to be seen. The suffocating, haunting knowledge that he was alone, trapped in his own pathetic universe again soaked through his skin like a chill in his bones, threatening to freeze them. Panic builds in the hollow of his throat.
The only other person who happens to be within eyeshot stares at him carefully, and Parker's sense starts to tingle once more. Potential Threat?
Parker takes a step forward anyway.
“Hey uh, excuse me, what day is it?”
Now the ruddy-complected man’s glare is angry, defensive.
“Can't you just check your phone?” He growls.
His attitude pisses Parker off, but he dug into his pocket either way, frowning before showing the asshole the shattered front of his dead cell phone.
“Can't you check yours?”
The heated man scoffed, turning and flipping him the bird before shouting,
“December 4th, 2017 dickhead!” over his shoulder.
December 4th. Of 2017.
2017.
Three years.
Three. Fucking. Years.
He had spent a grand total of 4 days in Peter 1’s universe, maybe a week, tops, but somehow, here, now, it’s 3 years later. Which meant Parker hasn't been in his Queens, for three years. He hasn't gone to work, paid his rent, checked on May, or seen Harry.
His gut tightened and all other thoughts halted in place at the memory of Harry.
Harry, who he had already abandoned once to the horrible place just 200 feet to his right.
And now, even after Parker swore he wouldn't, he did again. It didn't matter that this time it wasn't his fault. Because Harry would never give him the chance to explain that now.
If he was even still alive…

In your post you mentioned how May was also reckless with Peters guardianship which is fair cause she was but I wanted to know what would potentially happen if people found out he was spiderman by accident without mysterio's accusation and if tony was alive. I'm writing a fic and I want some ideas
Well, first, let’s see what would happen if Tony was not in HOCO:
They would start by:
Having the passengers on the Staten Island Ferry sue May for Peter’s fight that resulted in their cars going overboard after the ferry was cut in two.
Having Liz’s neighbours sue May for Peter’s collateral damage when he was trying to chase a criminal as a minor.
Sue May Parker for letting her child collect illegal weaponry and irresponsibly carrying it around with him.
By having that on him, he and Ned are the reason the Washington Monument was damaged and almost caused the death of several people.
He interfered with an FBI sting operation.
May would also be accused of negligent supervision of her child since she admitted she knew Peter goes out of the apartment every night and by the end of Homecoming she saw him with the suit. Peter also fought several criminals; something a kid his age shouldn’t do or feel responsible for.
An attorney could argue that Peter has a propensity for violent conduct because of his vigilante activities.
They would consider revoke her of her legal guardianship because she’s not suitable to take care of her kid and would give Peter away to someone else. And while May didn’t know of many of his activities in HOCO, looking at her attitude about his activities in FFH and NWH, I’m assuming she would act as carefree and relaxed as she did in those movies in HOCO.
Peter would not escape these huge stunts with a simple ‘cut the bullshit’, I’m pretty sure he would be grounded for life lmao. Tony used his connections with Damage Control and his own resources to clean Peter’s messes, keep him away from the Accords, keep him away from Ross and Fury and many other potential authorities that would want him to be held accountable. And Tony would be sued but it wouldn’t be a big deal for him since he’s got good lawyers and money that can get him out of the mess in no time. May on the other side...
Basically, what happened in NWH but this time, with Tony, May and Peter would be protected from many of those repercussions, and I’m assuming they would make Peter sign the Accords and restrict his activities as Spider-Man.

hey bestie talk to us about the other WIPs you got going. What’s cooking. What’s simmering. What are you excited about writing 🍿
Tumblr media
Oh, what a sexy question!! Let’s see…
Things I’ve got going:
I have a few Christmassy one-shots I’m gonna try my best to put out in the next couple weeks. They’re all half-written to varying degrees, but broadly:
Coffee bean gang reunion fic
Post-NWH, Spider-Man and the city (inspired by Noah Kahan’s Orange Juice because it has licherally changed me)
The final fic in the cycles series (The Bear), which is Tina’s story.
Things I have cooking:
Multichaps I’m gonna take my time writing and will start posting at some point in the new year:
em rallied the troops to bully me into dusting off the divorced but living together au. And it’s,,,,,,working. I already had a chapter and half written but I’ve put it through the brain blender and now I think it’s better than before
my baby, the One Day au, first chapter is almost done and I think it has potential to be A Very Good One
Things that are simmering:
I NEED to write some post NWH Gwen Stacy mannnn. Like??? That’s just delicious from any pov.
Felicia Hardy. you agree.
Writing ATH made me realise how much I enjoy writing the action of Spider-Man. In all of my fics so far Spider-Man storylines come secondary to the Peter Parker of it all. I wanna write something where Peter Parker is the side character to Spider-Man. I need one long epic of Spider-Man defeating a villain (trying, failing, trying again)…need me some traumatised, terrorised bug boy, ya feel me?
Unrelated, but I don’t think I’ve written an actual sydcarmy fic—all of my The Bear fics have been character studies, some of which have featured background sydcarmy to varying degrees but I’m tossing around ideas of writing one solid fic about them to round things off (till s3 gives me brainrot again)
This was a DELIGHT to answer, thank you!

Also Z had to go from Atlanta straight to a week long Valentino and Bulgari shoots in LA and then went straight to Euphoria production. She didn't have time to vacation after NWH, so Tom did a 2 week vacation with his brothers at a very exclusive ski resort before returning to the UK. Before leaving Atlanta, Tom made sure to unfollow the IG models that he used to follow (even though he had stopped liking their sexy posts months prior). Tom was spotted quite frequently in the UK in that period: at golf courses, at pubs, at the gym, etc and he was never spotted with a potential date. The US had very strict travel restrictions for Europeans until November 2021 (you had to obtain an "essential traveler waiver" stating that you had an essential job in the US that could not be performed remotely). What happened in late June was that Euphoria relaxed its restrictions on set visits. I think that that 3 months forced separation was important for Tom and Z to evaluate if they had made a thoughtful decision when choosing to get back together and they were not letting lust guide them. It also made them miss each other terribly and not be as controlled in semipublic spaces as they usually were when they finally reunited, resulting in the car kiss pics
ALL OF THIS!!!! 👏 💯

I don't have anyone to talk to about this fic idea I was to put in a oneshot, so I'm gonna tell you. (Maybe others get inspired, who knows)
Post NWH Spider-Man fights some magic user (that Dr Strange should have handled, Peter keeps telling himself) and is blasted by something. Spell, missile, who knows, Peter surely didn't get a chance to see before he was knocked out.
When he wakes up next, he's in a private hospital room, hooked up to one too many tubes. Using his enhanced hearing, Peter can hear people talking outside the door. Doctors, he assumes. And they're talking about a 14 years old kid that's been brain dead for a week after a car crash him and his family were in. Peter thinks "poor parents, having to say goodbye to their child".
Thing is, Peter is that kid. And the parents that are suppose to come say goodbye to their child are the Starks.
What is happening?
!!!!!
okay. I could see a few things here.
Peter, accidentally jumping to a different universe where he's the Starks bio kid. And all the pain of trying to decide whether he should tell them, or just settle into his new life
He assumes they're doctors, but they're not. They're SHELD agents, proposing various potential cover-up stories
Mistaken identity. There is a young kid that was in a car crash. the "car crash" was the magic villain, hurling a car (and its occupants) at peter. Peter knocked out, the villain sunk to the shadows to bide its time, and the Starks took in the occupants of the car to supervise their care while the try to figure out who the magic villain was. Think is, Peter was in civilian clothes (dont ask why, idk) and they think he was one of the occupants. The trauma caused the other family members to be disoriented, and they havent yet pointed out that Peter isnt one of them. Now peter has to figure out how to either escape, or comvince the others that he was always with them. While the big bad waits...
Tony was assumed dead at Endgame, and nobody ever told Peter that he secretly recovered. They never told anyone, except Morgan and Pepper. But, Peters "death" brought tony out of the shadows. Suddenly, an Iron Man everyone thought was gone was fighting this magic user full-force, and Peter was swept away into recovery. Everyone else tried to wrap their minds around tony being alive- and for 10 days, Tony tried to wrap his mind around Peter being dead... until he woke up.

Ok I think I’ve got a good one! Post NWH Fix it
-What Peter didn’t realize, and what Dr. Strange didn’t have time to explain, was that everyone would forget who Peter Parker is…including Peter Parker.
-Cue amnesiac Peter, wandering, scared and trying to survive on his own.
*May and Tony are alive, because I refuse to bring back Tony without May because Peter deserves better and I *bawled* in the theatre during both scenes.
-Tony Stark, perhaps with a touch of resistance to magic due to handling the infinity stones, wakes up one morning feeling like something is missing.
-Maybe he goes about his day, drinks his coffee, ruffles his daughters hair with his fancy prosthetic, and wanders up the stairs and into a certain guest room, except this guest room is messy with textbooks, and clothes on the floor that would fit a teenage boy and he *freaks*.
- He is missing a whole ass child and has no idea whom, or why.
How do you find a missing person if you don’t know who you’re missing?
*using movie logic, no clear photos or digital data exists, except that which is related to Spider-Man
- So much potential for a mystery novel, detective Tony on the case to find his son, and once he does, figure out what happened and what the heck Spider-Man has to do with it.
Surprise Biodad AU: Maybe he gets desperate, asks Strange for a tracking spell that tracks DNA matches to a certain percentage.
And it WORKS, but no one knows any better so no one realizes anything is off until memories are back lol.
Fabulous outstanding incredible thank you!!!!
I'm gonna queue this post as a gift to the whole irondad community for while I'm away. you rock @knittyninja <333

As someone semi-new to the MCU fandom (watched all the stuff, but stayed away from fandom space for years), why is most of the Spidey fic either Iron Dad or XReader Smut??
No hate at all to either of those, I have enjoyed some of each to an extent. But especially in a Post-NWH era, there are so many other potential stories!
And also, I adore MCU MJ and it feels like she's barely in any of the fic, or she's mentioned mostly off-screen, which feels... weird...
Maybe I'm just too far removed from the fandom to know how we got here, but it's just a bit confusing. There's so much untapped potential! So many possibilities for angst and wonderful hurt/comfort.

oh thank gd I'm not the only one who thinks that ffh was Not That Good. It had its moments, but a lot of things didn't make sense and came out of nowhere - Peter suddenly crushing on MJ instead of them slowly building it up; May not caring that her nephew risks his life everyday??? hello??? I didn't enjoy ffh, it felt so out of place compared to the other movies. it's like the writers couldn't decide what to do and just mashed all the ideas into one script whilst losing continuity
Jon Watts it’s on sight!
Tumblr media
I have this theory that FFH is the genuine worst part of the trilogy for many reasons but is also the single worst offender for why the MCU Spider-Man trilogy had such a bad reputation (and why NWH had to do SO MUCH explicit course correcting).
“But seek people hated him back in HOCO” true yes there’s a lot of Choices that were made from the beginning that were not Great but FFH not only dug their heels into those bad choices but made them worse.
Like I’m not jazzed about how much of HOCO Peter’s arc was trying to impress upon Tony of how important he is— it’s a literal regression from his attitude to Tony in CW but that’s because are dee jay is an ass who would catch these hands if I saw him— but FFH made it worse by making him a successor to Tony Stark and his legacy. (Much LESS how Mysterio is a fucking STARK INDUSTRIES jilted ex-employee????? Are you kidding me???)
MJ being a non-entity in HOCO and that stupid as hell “name drop” is terrible but it’s made WORSE in FFH by Peter— off screen and with no explanation other than we as an audience know she’s MJ— to be in love with her and want to ask her out.
May and Ned had great arcs in HOCO and showed a great relationship with Peter and there was so much potential for the two of them re: Spider-Man that FFH completely shit on by turned May “cut the bullshit / what the fuck” Parker into a irresponsible ditz who gleefully throws her child into danger (which NWH then tried to correct) and Ned “I’m your guy in the chair” Leeds turned into an utter joke.
FFH gave us canon PeterMJ and had the unfortunate burden of being the first MCU movie post endgame. Any movie was going to have a hard time trying to balance the tone, the weight, and the movement of grief audiences had to have in mourning ten years of storytelling and as an MCU movie, FFH was fine.
As a Spider-Man movie, it failed and in many respects, is the weakest in the trilogy because of it.
And again, why I say NWH had to do SO MUCH to try and correct the problems they themselves created that truly start and end with FFH.

"Is This A 'No Way Home' Reference?" Behind The Scenes
Post full of BTS / Notes for the NWH Fic! No potential spoilers ahead.
Tumblr media
The selection process! Now there's way more AUs than this for sure now, but hey this was a bit ago when I first started compiling this shit.
Tumblr media
Nicknames I made on the spot so I wouldn't get myself confused haha!
Tumblr media
Notes for One!
Tumblr media
More notes, guess what the next image is?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course there is more stuff, more related to plot (so I'm not revealing that), but this is mostly non spoilery stuff! I still need to research/deepdive into the other Leo's though haha. Also, One is kind of going to be the main protag along with Leo? I'm tending to write more in One's p.o.v so that might be why, haha.

Honestly the amount of Post-NWH Starker or Spiderstrange content is TOO DAMN LOW
All the potential! Are they the only one left who remember? Or have they forgotten Peter and get to know him again? The Hurt/Comfort? Identity Porn? The underlying sense of familiarity? And the Sexual Tension?
You can't tell me that Stephen or Tony see Spider-Man's face for the first time and don't think "oh wow he is pretty "

I have an expansion/AU for my AU (https://choco-cherry-chunk.tumblr.com/post/686338631776993281/au-where-norman-doesnt-die-the-first-time-in). This also requires a bit of AU history in that, while Otto is locked up for his crimes/having his neural implant fixed, same-sex marriage is legalized in New York. Harry is working along with Peter to fix the implant (it takes longer to fix than it did in NWH because the tech is like two decades older). Harry tells Otto this news to help lift his spirits, and gives him a copy of the newspaper with the headline on the front page.
Later that day, Norman comes to visit Otto. Otto has to stay in like this cell until his actuators are under control, and no matter how much money and excuses Norman gives (mainly that the actuators won't hurt him), the guards won't budge, so he and Otto have to talk through a glass wall (kind of like what Hannibal Lecter was in, which pisses off Norman to no end because Otto isn't dangerous or a monster, but Otto feels better being kept away from anyone his actuators might attack until his implant can be repaired; there's a lot of potential for angst there).
So Norman is grinning for once when he sees Otto and Otto instantly knows what's got him so happy.
Norman: "I have some fantastic news, honey."
Otto: "Oh I already know. Harry told me."
Norman (face falling in disappointment): "He did?"
Otto: "Don't be mad at him, Norman, I think he was just excited. Plus I was having a particularly rough day and I think he knew it would cheer me up."
Norman (nods, smile returning): "Okay, that makes sense...so...what do you think?"
Otto: "About the news? I'm ecstatic!"
Norman: "I thought you would be!"
Otto: "I just wish it had happened sooner."
Norman (a little confused): "I didn't even know it was something you wanted. Why didn't you tell me?"
Otto: "Well I didn't want you thinking I wasn't happy with what we already had, with our little family the way it was."
Norman: "Oh honey, I wouldn't have thought that."
Otto: "So...did you have a date in mind?"
Norman (confusion returning): "Um...I think sometime in May?"
Otto: "Oh that's perfect."
Norman (chuckles): "I'm glad you approve."
Otto: "It really won't change our day-to-day lives, but it will be a nice addition." (at this, Norman furrows his brow in confusion) "This will probably involve a lot of paperwork."
Norman: "I...suppose? There wasn't with the other two."
Otto: "You mean with Emily and Rosie? You didn't have a lot of paperwork with Emily? I mean, Rosie and I had to sign some forms, but I figured with Oscorp in the mix, you'd need a lot of legal work-"
Norman (holds up a hand, realizing something): "Otto, what do you think we're talking about?"
Otto (tilts his head in confusion, then reaches over and grabs the paper Harry gave him and holds it up to the glass, front page visible to Norman: SAME-SEX MARRIAGE LEGALIZED IN NEW YORK; realization dawns on Norman's face and he starts laughing)
Otto: "...is something funny? What am I missing?"
Norman: "Honey, first of all, I will absolutely marry you. Of course I will. You're already my husband in every way anyway." (He reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out an envelope, removes a picture, and holds the picture up to the glass for Otto to see) "This is what I was talking about."
(The image is an ultrasound scan. Otto does a double-take, then tears up; Norman is sure Otto is happy but it still kills him that he isn't able to wrap his arms around Otto to comfort him)
Otto (softly, almost to himself): "I didn't think it was possible." (he looks up at Norman, tears trickling down his face, but he has the biggest smile) "I thought...after the accident...I mean, I was amazed I was even alive..."
Norman (heart breaking a little; remembering all that Otto's been through in the past few months): "You thought we wouldn't be able to have anymore children? Oh Otto..." (he leans his head against the glass, and Otto follows suit so all that separates their foreheads is the glass)
Otto: "I should be out before May, but if I'm not-"
Norman: "If you're not, I will pay to have an operating centre built right in front of this cell." (He grins)
Otto (laughs again, tears drying): "That's not what I was going to say dear, but I won't try to stop you. Is Rosie excited about the baby?"
Norman: "Oh she's thrilled." (he puts the photo back up on the glass) "But Otto...look at the picture again. Closely."
(Confused, Otto takes a closer step towards the glass and peers at the picture. It's then he notices there are not one, but two blurry shapes in the image)
Norman: "Not baby; babies. Twins, Otto."
