love what you do! do you think you could expand on the winterfell region or the or bolton/umber region fashion?

I am a firm believer in patterns for men. Ignore the show no Lord of Winterfell is going to wear old leathers like a plebeian. They have fine fur cloaks, carefully made brooches and clasps, and thick fabrics that may not be comfortable but are clearly patterned and well made (no one ever said serving cunt was easy) Ned should have been rocking the fit on the left when Robert showed up and Jon should’ve been eating bitches up on the wall like the fit on the right

I am also a firm believer in big fancy wide sleeve supremacy. And big fancy hat/kokoshnik. Since silk and satin and thin fabrics aren’t feasible in winterfell, the women focus on embroidery, beading, and fur to make their clothes look pretty. Perhaps the sign of the most affluent bitch in winter fell is how big can their headpiece get and how heavy can it get from beading and decoration until it’s hurting your neck. The more slouching the better.

Bolton cool blood-core aesthetic is sadly hindered by thick extra layers of clothing that leave you puffy like a marshmallow. Bc I doubt there is much central heating in the Dreadfort. Probably not as much decoration on the clothing for minor nobles, but Roose and his crew still have some. All in red of course. A lot of high collars, long sleeves, and tight jackets with fur cloaks over the shoulders there’s no shirtless sword practice here take ur ass back to Highgarden

Honestly the Umbers probably aren’t far off from wildlings themselves. Furs and leather and using every part of the animal for their clothing, but they also still have the (albeit minor) luxury of dyes and metals etc etc. They’re still physically threatening but also they’re trudging through waist high snow most of the year and have to waddle around in ten layers of extra clothes. So yea Greatjon is scary but less scary when you see him with three scarves around his face and an overcoat on big enough to cover his four layers of shirts

Extra: smallfolk from around the Umber and Bolton areas. Why is everyone in game of thrones wearing brown. Why are they only wearing two layers. That’s stupid D&D you are stupid. The smallfolk in my mind wear handmade patterns that were lovingly made by the fire. Cotton clothing dyed from berries and plants. Grey wool from the sheep and sun bleached leather that’s turned light brown. Fur hats to keep their ears warm and big pants to tuck into their boots. The smallfolk in my homeade ASOIAF universe are realistically able to survive winter

It's hilarious that they could just go "She had a miscarriage because she was going through a pretty severe period of physical deprivation, culminating in a bout of equally severe dysentery caused by contaminated water or even the Pale Mare" and instead they hop and skip straight to Valyrian Blood Supremacy? Like, nothing in the text is forcing them to go along with the idea that she is actually infertile. But magical incest preference still sounds better to them?

Honestly, I’m not sure if I can write this AU. With confidence I mean. I already got like a 15k word outline going on and it’s still going and it’s been like that for the past 3 years. Yeah. Pretty crazy. But if I can’t write this then I might resort into posting a bulleted list on what I should’ve written in the betterment of those 3 years instead of making a long ass outline to get it out into the world.

I love this AU, you have no idea, but it is so hard to write. So bear with me. I’ll give a bit of insight into it.

• This is a canon divergence of the canon timeline where instead of Bryan taking the hit, it’s Molten taking the hit. (My guy is not having a great time. Both of them.)

• This AU is canon defiant to the actual lore in Bryan’s series. A lot actually. This is a bit more canon compliant to the Fnaf storyline. Focusing more on spirits and souls than portals and portal magic. Soul juice produced from murdered children. All that good stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I love the series but I wish it focused on the souls of the kids and their stories if only a little.

• Let’s say there are a lot of hidden secrets in the old pizzeria that Bryan would carry to his grave. Most of them is guilt. The other is shame borderlining to self loathing.

• “No one would ever believe you.” :)

• This AU’s pov is also on the animatronics side. Mostly Freddy, Helpy (the old one), and maybe probably Foxy (the Rockstar one) I miss them, okay?

• Pat is around too. Watching over the animatronics while getting deathly afraid of them for a definite period of time before making friends with them because wow, those robots aren’t actually gonna force them into a Freddy Fazbear suit. Why did they listen to a pre-recorded message anyway?

• Jon is the one that stumbles onto the secret. But its not complete. He wonders where he should find the other pieces.

• You know OG Freddy? How he was repaired? Yeah. That part wasn’t the only thing that brought him back to life.

• And the monitor Lefty stole from the pizzeria? Maybe Egg Baby? Wonder whats that for?

• The book that Bryan gave to Twisted Bonnie also changed. Still has the blueprints of the animatronics but of different animatronics.

• “Hmmmm, I wonder what I can do for Baby’s birthday? How can I make it her happiest day of her shortlived li��wait, can I even say that?????”

• Also, does anyone know what happened to Twisted Freddy? Did he just become the wind or what? We’ll see.

• Since Lefty didn’t die, let’s say Shadow Freddy had other places to be. And Twisted Wolf? Honestly forgot about that guy hahaha I’ll think of something.

• Oh! EB (Evil Bryan) is there too! Like actually.

• It’s quite funny to have two short humans going on offense while literal monsters go on support and defense lmao. What a bunch of losers.

And to those that recognize that title, I am so sorry. I literally redid the first 5 chapters, finished 4, then dropped it off at chapter 7-8. Chapter 1-4 are finished but 5-8 is a land mine. I don’t know how to keep it going lmao. No really, it’s a struggle writing this dang thing and I want it out of my head too. I can’t promise any chapters or that I’m working on it because I’m so busy but I did not forget it if thats what you’re thinking. It’s just hard to write. Like really hard. That’s why I focused a bit on oneshots.

No Spoilers, but thoughts from the early screening for Good Omens (2) include:

First off, episode one starts with such a jarring bang that I suggest you hang on to your literal seat. Not like loud audio or anything, just in terms of content and the narrative whiplash. No testing the water just straight up cannonballing into it.

A few more glimpses into the past, one biblical tale that I think a lot of us traumatized by religion have feelings about and for me it felt a little healing.

Episode 2 ends with a conversation that I’m sure is open to many interpretations but for my personal perspective felt like a convo every queer person from a strict religious childhood had at some point. Made me cry a little.

The bearded Crowley look slays, actually.

CGI budget was put to good use and it is fun.

Jon Hamm’s facial expressions continue to be their own separate award-worthy performer. The purple eyes are very pretty, as an aside.

There are mentions of the Pandemic, but not too much (in those first two atleast) so if you still have anxiety about it like I do you’re good!

Gingham detail supremacy is alive and well.

The ducks are returning characters.

All in all, excited to see where in the Hell the rest of it goes.

A crazy idea now I had. You know we are pretty sure D@ny coming to Westeros will be after Aegon became king in the south. It will be a sort of Dance 2.0 and there are a lot of parallels, like Barristan becoming Criston 2.0 but worse (he will die much far away from home, in a battle that nobody in Westeros care, no song will be sung for the once most admired knight of his time).

I have been trying to think about others parallels while understanding what's going to happen, using the show and looking at what was mixed and one thing always makes me frown is Varys goal around here, looking at what we had in the books and what we saw in the show.

So, reading Dance, we have the "turncloakers" that went from green to black or from black to green, and we have interesting characters too, like Corlys Velaryon and Larys Strong, and I can see Varys a "good" mix of them. And what do they do? They, supposedly, murdered Aegon after he killed his sister, whatever their motives.

In the show, Varys wished to see D@ny as the saviour, but after witnessing her tyrany, and meeting the Starks (and learning about Jon) he decides to kill her. It's subtly established, when one of his birds report about D@ny not eating the food, and he saying that they would try again. What? Posion her? Yup

So, what if after D@ny/Rh@ny (Maegor With Tits) murders Aegon, Varys becomes part of her Council (he helped Tyri0n escape, he may help him gain her trust) and even if D@ny is mad at Illyrio (probably dead), she may accept him in her circle. And that would be her ending.

What if then we have another parallel of Dance. D@ny dies mysteriously. Jon went to kill her after learning about his half-brother's death and is afraid of her menace to the rest of his family/Sansa, and is a) accused of killing her (Varys killed Kevan with a weapon, what is stopping him from killing her in the chest with a sword, dagger, crossbow) or b) he does a Cregan 2.0 and has to organize the wastelands of Westeros as the heir of the IT.

Idk, I just have this on my mind mostly from Varys plots in the show and his scenes in the books...

Hi there and sorry for the delay in responding!

Generally I agree that if Varys doesn't meet his end in connection to Aegon himself, he'll be one aspect of conspiracy-making around Dany one way or the other.

But I don't think that GRRM would give him the role of ending Dany.

There's too little thematic connection there. These aren't characters who have been known to each other and moving in a shared political constellation for enough time to make a murder like that seem like a meaningful conclusion to her arc. It's not a cynical, opportunistic political scheme that ultimately ends in a new status quo for the Targaryen dynasty. The Dance 1.0 eliminated the dragons as a factor but it reestablished the Targaryens as the ruling dynasty, incest and Valyrian supremacy and all. The ultimately futile and destructive scheming fits that very well.

That will not be the case when Dany dies, when King's Landing is a pile of ashes, when the dragons are ended once again as a factor. This will be their absolute end, clad in the imagry of apocalyptic destruction. High drama. The mode by which it comes about is likely to be thematically drenched in why that's a good thing and why it is inherently inevitable. Whether she is killed by someone with genuine emotional grievance against her destructive power, or whether she ends in self-destruction because of the delusional obsession with fire and superiority... it has to match what makes Dany specifically and the Targaryens generally bad news.

Unlike in the show, book!Varys is a scheming villain, full stop. He cuts out the tongues of children and manipulates people into their own destruction based on his own personal political vision of what's best for Westeros as a whole. A "well-intentioned extremist" at the most generous interpretation. He is essentially little different from Dany, and only vaguely so from Littlefinger. There is nothing inherently special about him that would qualify him to end Dany, on a thematic level. He will likely try. But he will fail. He's not getting a win like that to send him off before his villain death.

If someone (other than herself) ends Dany, it has to be a figure that represents what truly opposes her. And that's not Varys.

New fan here. How did you come across the Jonsa ship ?

Hello! Well...to quote Mr Darcy:

I cannot fix on the hour, or the spot, or the look or the words, which laid the foundation. It is too long ago. I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun. 

But really, I think maybe it was just through being on Ao3 that I stumbled across it and thought huh...interesting, don’t mind if I do *clicks on fic* Because R+L=J is/was such a big theory, that even as a casual fan just getting into the series (both books + show) when Thrones started, I was aware of it. I was aware that it was very likely that Sansa and Jon were in fact cousins, and suddenly the fact of them not growing up especially close started a-ringa-ding-dinging. Plus, I’ve read Jane Austen, and though it’s not my fave (Emma is), I do like Mansfield Park, so I’m not immediately anti the cousin thing, if in the context/world the characters live in it’s not uncommon/is universally accepted. 

You know, I think it is telling that Sansa has the most fanfic written about her, the most romantic pairings too, and that’s because she is essentially the most romantic character in the whole series. She is arguably it’s key romantic heroine, its romantic heart, but her actual romance hasn’t quite started yet (there’s been several false knights, false beasts to her beauty, false princes), though all the foreshadowing is there for the real deal (Jon), IMO. So, I was ready to ship her with someone, because I love her character and recognise that being able to love romantically/be loved is very imporant to her. With Jon (arguably the most romantic hero)...the puzzle pieces all came together. They fit. Jon, who I also love, who I also want to feel loved and love freely, for who acceptance and belonging is really important. They want the same things — home + family, love + care, Winterfell, and to be a Stark (something Jon always wanted, something Alayne Stone has lost). Like, I know it won’t be without angst (the bitter) but the payoff (the sweet) will feel so satisfying and deserved for them both.  

For my bigtime ships, I like to ship for a reason: because these characters would be good for each other (brave, gentle & strong), because they would make sense personally/thematically/narratively together, because they’d be balanced, not one being just a prop for the other. It’s fun to have crackships, and I definitely do, but with Jonsa...I was blown away by the meta I subsequently found (and looked for) on tumblr — because it is pretty much completely dismissed or ignored elsewhere. The amount of thought people put into their metas here on tumblr is actually insane, and it’s utterly convinced me, it really has. I truly think that’s where things are headed in the books. Because it isn’t just one thing that alludes to them in the text, it’s several repeated motifs/parallels/subtextual references/subversions, but also parallels in other GRRM works (Ashford Theory, Jonnel + Sansa Stark), and other literary influences! Like...the supremacy of that?? Quite frankly, incomparable. 

So yeah, I started first with s1 of the show (rage quit during s5, but I’ve watched subsequent Jonsa scenes), swiftly followed by the books, but I didn’t become a Jonsa believer/fan during s6 like I know quite a lot of people did, I’d discovered it before that point, through fic then confirmed by tumblr meta :)

Unpopular Opinion: Hoster Tully is actually what every reddit dudebro thinks Tywin is. He’s ruthless and pragmatic, putting his own agenda above his family’s happiness, he’s very political and makes connections with all sorts of kingdoms. Hoster is a pretty terrible father but he’s actually one of the smarter politicians. And the way ppl talk about Tywin being a utilitarian who just does whatever it takes for his goals is more in line with hoster. Tywin is really just a sadist. Hoster didn’t marry Lysa to Jon Arryn because he hated and wanted to punish her, he just didn’t care about her feelings and used her for political gain.

Honestly I always think about the casual reference to Hoster Tully putting an entire village to the sword during the Rebellion because House Goodbrook refused to join the rebels and fought for the Targs instead. Like let’s be real Hoster has some good PR.

And the point is Hoster isn’t even special or exceptional. He is a typical Westerosi lord in every sense of the word. Nowhere near as brutal as Tywin, not propagating this quasi fascist Tully supremacy, but totally willing to ‘make an example’ using innocent civilians and willing to force an abortion on his unwilling daughter ‘for her own good’.
