I was thinking about what Buck and Eddie’s love languages are and very quickly was like, “wait, it’s most of them.”

Acts of service: Buck introducing Eddie to Carla, cooking for each other, Eddie being there for Buck when Maddie is missing and when his parents are in town, Buck taking care of Christopher, Buck bringing Eddie to Chris after the earthquake, Buck going against his own trauma to rescue Eddie after he was shot and keeping him alive in the fire truck, Buck rushing to Eddie’s place after his breakdown to check on Chris and see if Eddie was okay, talking him through his issues, Eddie getting Buck ice after he was punched, Eddie trying to get Buck out of his head to “save him” from himself, going the extra mile to save each other during calls and risking their lives, Eddie risking another lightning strike by rushing up the ladder to get Buck down and then forcibly taking over his care after they arrive at the hospital and then shouting at the doctors to “do more”, Eddie letting Buck over just to fall asleep on the couch, respecting his boundaries despite his own need to check on him, getting him water after his nap, talking him through his own issues and trauma, Eddie planning the poker outing to get Buck smiling again, Buck driving Eddie and Chris to the airport, them understand each other implicitly, etc.

Quality time: Buck driving Eddie to get Chris after the earthquake, Buck going with Eddie to the hospital after his abuela broke her hip, hanging out to play video games, hanging out to talk about their struggles and fears and feelings, hanging out to cook for each other + Christopher, building Christopher’s modified skateboard together, Buck and Eddie taking Chris to see Santa together, going to the bar together (+ the rest of the 118), both of them there for each other during recovery, “this is Eddie’s house, I’m not really a guest”, going to the grave of a deceased woman they met on a call, being each other’s partners at work, going to El Paso to visit his family after their work in Austin (+Hen), etc. (bonus: Buck taking Chris on trips together all the time, like the zoo)

Physical touch: please, when are these two NOT touching? That’s a shorter list. Shoulders, hands, knees, hugs, they are the most tactile duo on the show, even more than the established relationships I’d argue. They’re always in each others space. (Bonus: the way they are so gentle with Chris and pick him up and bury their face in his neck and spin him around and kiss his head. So special to me)

Words of affirmation: “there is no one in this world I trust with my son more than you”, “because, Evan, you act like you’re expendable, but you’re wrong”, “I’m sorry I wasn’t there, Eddie”, “he’s a really great dad”, “you’re badass under pressure, brother… hell yeah, you can have my back any day”, “or you can have mine”, “no one will ever fight for my son as hard as you, that’s what I want for him”, “the truth is, you haven’t been the same since the accident. But how could you be?”, etc.

We don’t see a lot of examples of gift-giving (EDIT TO ADD: the Hildy coffee maker and, of course, Eddie giving Buck his SON) (though I’m sure it’s happened lol). But it’s so beautiful to me how these two and their trauma-heavy upbringings shower each other with love and affection so unapologetically. I just love them your honor

Alright so the TOH brainrot has come back in full force after the finale came out so now i too am making one of them lists of things that i liked/stuck out to me. Also sorry if this ends up just being a bunch of incoherent nonsense

HOLY SHIT TITAN!LUZ. the design is so cool what more can i say. Furthermore,

HOLY FUCK LUZ DIED????? i was so not expecting that and good lord was it heartbreaking. Eda and King's reaction to Luz's death were also heartbreaking, and so was the Collector finally realizing what death really is. And oh my god puppet!Camila crying as the balls of light pass by her, showing us that she has had the realization that her daughter died. After the grief and trauma of losing Manny, Camila and Luz had a heart to heart which made their bond stronger than ever, only for Camila to lose Luz aswell.

LUZ SAID THE THING! NOW EAT THIS SUCKAAAAAA!!!!!

The raeda in this episode was IMMACULATE. I was really hoping for a kiss but i'm still happy with what WAD gave us. The loving stares, Raine's absolute joy when Eda and Titan!Luz came to their rescue in the throne room, the hugs and nuzzles, the cuddling in their new nest, etc. They seem so relaxed and happy at the end. The world has been saved and now they can finally live their lives together and rekindle their relationship. Oh and how could i forget the EARRING SWAP!! they're wearing eachother's earrings!!! I've seen quite a few ppl interpreting the exchanging of earrings/jewelry as a marriage custom in the demon realm, implying that Eda and Raine are married in the timeskip. I never cared much for the idea of raeda getting married but you know what? I like this headcanon.

Baki Character HCs

Okay, let's try to do a thing and see where it goes. Includes: Jack, Baki, Katsumi, Hanayama, Retsu, Kosho, Kureha, Doppo, Shibukawa

Baki:

He struggles with his school work. He's going to be graduating soon, but this boy absolutely prioritized fighting over his school, and while everyone in school knows that he's struggling, nobody in the arena itself knows.

Once found Musashi (his dog) absolutely tearing apart a dog toy and had no idea how to react because that dog has been so chill for the entire time that Baki has known him.

Did NOT know how to do laundry at all for a long while, so he wound up shrinking a weeks worth of his clothes, then wound up panic buying clothes that were definitely too big for him. He shrank those too, but it worked out better for him when that happened.

Definitely the kind of guy to ask Kozue what size pussy she has the first time she asked him to make an emergency run to the store for tampons/pads, and she wound up snort-laughing while on the phone with him so hard that she dislodged a clot.

Doesn't know how to interact with Jack. Yeah, he calls him his brother, he knows that Jack is his brother, but it really took him some time to process "yeah, that's my big brother, he exists, I'm not alone out here with only dad" so for the first few times he interacts with Jack he's super awkward about it.

Definitely has never had any (proper) older familial figures in his life like uncles, aunts, cousins, etc. so now that he's got a vague familial system with the fighters in the underground ring he's absolutely accidentally called people by familial terms, like the time he zoned out and accidentally called Doppo his uncle. (Katsumi does not let him live this down.

Hanayama:

Hanayama has entirely given up on any form of education, but he's not stupid by any means. Does he have trouble with math? A little bit. Would anyone ever figure that out? Absolutely not. Put this man in front of a map though and he's on it. He knows obscure locations like the back of his hand.

He really likes his nice suits, but if he needs to tear them off so he can beat ass, then he will. That being said, he's outright refuses to ruin the suits that his mother either complimented or chose for him.

Still makes rose perfume for her and brings it to her grave. He loved his mom a LOT. If anyone knows about this, they don't say anything about it.

Very much a cat guy. Not in the sense that he likes cats, per-se, but more in the sense that cats just find and approach him at random. They like him. They do not leave him alone. Someone send help this man doesn't know how to handle the sheer amount of strays that approach him.

Doesn't travel abroad very often, but he has gone out of the country once or twice to Korea for "business" and he was so boring about it. The gang were all having fun and enjoying themselves, but Hanayama was just sorta existing as usual.

Has a very strained relationship with bugs. Yeah, sure, Baki is his buddy, and he's learned a lot from bugs, but Hanayama thinks they're dirty, and he really doesn't like them in HIS space. They can exist just fine on their own, but the SECOND they step into his own home it's on sight.

Jack:

He's dumb but in a smart way. He absolutely did NOT try in school, man dropped out as soon as he was able to, but he did shockingly well. He wasn't a straight A student by any means, but he was damn well close, all without actively applying himself to whatever he was learning. He was the quiet kid that people kept their distance from.

His mother was very distant with him, and he spent his first few years in the foster care system, so while he he may sometimes want to be nicer or softer to people around him, he doesn't really know how. If emotionally stunted was a person, this man would be it. Most he knows he can do is just objectively compliment someone.

This man needs it to be arctic when he sleeps, otherwise he gets way too warm. He just can't handle it. This man absolutely radiates heat most of the time. He also needs to shave a LOT, this man grows beards extremely fast. If he doesn't shave every other day he starts getting some intense scruff going on, but he doesn't like facial hair on himself, so he just keeps himself shaved clean.

He once ran into Kozue after the Maximum Tournament. That's his little brother's girlfriend, so he did try to be as non-threatening as possible, but it's Jack, this man looked like he'd been chewed up by a meat grinder, and was, for whatever reason, a lot taller??? He just wound up nodding at her and kept going on about his day. He absolutely has no idea how scared Kozue was for a moment there.

The culture shock absolutely was NOT kind to him. Man went from a rural town in Canada to a big city in Japan. Definitely hit his head off of door frames a lot in the beginning, but he's (mostly) gotten more used to things now.

He does care about Baki, in his own strange, emotionally stunted way. He's very confident in his younger brother's abilities, and whenever he hears about Baki doing something maybe a little bit outrageous, he's entirely confident that Baki will absolutely master it, somehow.

This man is polite. He doesn't feel the need to trash-talk or be rude to opponents, he does truly appreciate every opportunity he gets to learn and get stronger, especially considering how hard of a time he had getting to this point in the first place.

Katsumi:

He was a karate prodigy, which automatically made him one of the coolest kids in his school. He was very clever too, if he didn't know something, then he would find out soon, if only because he asked someone else to teach him how.

He bonded with Natsue almost immediately after his adoption, but it took him a while to warm up to Doppo. His favourite memory with his dad is when they once caught a baseball game together at the very Tokyo dome he wound up losing his arm in.

He has his students, then he has his homies. The homies are sacred to this man, if his friends don't like someone, he'll trust their judgement on that one, and is incredibly reluctant to let someone in once he knows that His Boys (tm) don't approve.

He has a love-hate relationship with spiders. On one hand: mosquitos are annoying, and he can't stand hearing his dad occasionally wake up to slap tf out of one in the middle of the night whenever he stays over, but he doesn't like them being near him, especially the big ones.

Probably helps whatever elderly person he meets that he thinks is struggling with something, he's got such Good Boy energy that he can't help himself.

Kosho:

This man was an ANGEL as a child. He didn't do as well as his brother, but he absolutely had a reputation with the teachers as a sweet little angel. He did okay in school, but nothing really special. He did do really well in martial arts though, and that's far more important in this world.

He absolutely has a religious self-care routine at night for his hair because he's absolutely jealous of his brother's hair. He's wanted to be better than his brother in some way shape or form, and while he did surpass his brother during the Maximum Tournament, the habit persisted until well after though.

He absolutely learned his lesson from fighting Doyle, though he won't necessarily admit it. He's always a lot more reluctant to get into fights with more sly individuals because last time he did, he got blown up.

Absolutely teases his brother about him being so close with Jack. A lot of "so, how is your boyfriend?" and "does your boy toy want to come visit mom and dad?" but he's never said it to Jack's face, since the amount of times that the two have been close enough to interact can be counted on a single hand.

He's a very quiet person, in the literal sense where he doesn't make a lot of noise when he walks or moves, but he also just doesn't really talk a lot. He's not super chatty, but you get him talking about his techniques and whatnot and he will NOT stop talking.

Cannot stand having dirt under his nails. Those are his main weapons, and he takes good care of them. He wants to fight, yes, but he doesn't want to take out his opponents permanently because of something as silly as an infection.

Kureha:

He was the perfect student all throughout his schooling, his teachers loved him, he was very inquisitive, always asking questions and whatnot. His classmates all loved him, they thought he was super cool because he was seen as a genius even back in his childhood. But a few kids saw through the perfect mask he puts on and saw the little sicko that he is (we love him for it).

He absolutely has made people question their sexualities before, just by them looking at him. He's pretty, and he knows it,. Which is why he always claims that it's effortless beauty. His skin is just naturally that clear, his hair is naturally that shiny. Of course, all of the beauty products he uses are natural and if anyone touches them they'd better be prepared to pay a whole mortgage because oh boy, they don't come cheap.

He hates feeling like he doesn't know something, so whenever he finds himself wanting to learn something, he'll do his own research beforehand, then he'll go into beginner classes and feel proud that he already knows something.

He cannot STAND Yujiro. Their personalities are just similar enough that Yujiro grates on his nerves just in the right way that every time he hears about him, he gets an annoyed tick to his eyebrow. He plays it off as having drunk too much coffee, but he doesn't ever drink too much coffee.

This man has so many pillows on his bed. And they're everywhere, he wakes up and it looks like his bed was in a warzone, pillows and blankets everywhere, sometimes he wakes up half hanging off his bed.

Retsu:

He didn't really do much school since he was raised in a monastery, but if he did, then he'd absolutely be a straight A student. He's a fast learner, he picks things up very quickly.

He knows that he's a good cook, but if anyone points it out to him he gets flustered. He knows he likes his own food, but other people liking it? That's one of the highest compliments he can receive.

He had a troubled past, but his future is hella bright, this man has made so many friends completely by accident, he never expected that his name would carry so much weight, though he's reluctant to throw that around.

He's incredibly neat and tidy, though that comes easier with a more minimalistic lifestyle. Oddly enough, he and Jack are both the cleanest of the entire regular group, both having incredibly minimalist lifestyles, not that they know about each-others habits.

He's well aware that Baki and Katsumi are young geniuses, but when it comes to Jack, he often forgets that this man is the same age as Katsumi. He often forgets how old everyone is beyond "this person is around this age, this person is around this age". He very much was raised to respect his elders, and he absolutely does.

He doesn't need hair care, all of that comes naturally for him. He just puts it up in a braid and forgets about it, but it's so thick and healthy that it's genuinely astounding and it always succeeds in making at least some people jealous.

He's weak to a good old beach day. He can't help it, Katsumi took him to the beach with the gang once and he fell in love with it.

Doppo:

He was somewhat a troublemaker in school, but he did get good grades. He was a charmer, this man is incredibly charismatic. By the time he got to high school he had a reputation, but it wasn't a bad one at all. He's treated all of his past girlfriends really well, and that's partially why Natsue even gave him a chance.

He didn't ever really want kids, but he found that he was far more open to raising Katsumi than he thought he'd be. He's absolutely calmed down a little bit since he became a father.

He has a macaroni drawing that Katsumi made for him in his desk at home, sometimes Natsue finds him staring at it whenever Katsumi does something that has proven how much he's grown.

He definitely appreciates that Baki respects him so much, he knows that Yujiro can be a shit and he's not going to complain about being respected as a senior fighter and a form of authority.

He spoils Natsue rotten for their anniversary. Fancy dinners, extravagant gifts, drowning her in attention and affection. He's her Superman, and he's going to damn well act like it.

He very much loves his little meet-ups with Shibukawa, it's a habit that they've gotten into, and both of them appreciate having a "fellow old man" to sit and chat with about their world.

Shibukawa:

This man was a PROBLEM CHILD when he was younger. He would pick fights, start drama, the whole nine yards. This man grew up disrespectful and cocky until the first time he properly got his ass kicked, and that was a huge personality shift for him. He's still cocky, of course, but that's more because he has the skills to back it up now.

Give him the chance to knock some overly confident youngster down a few pegs, and he'll absolutely take it. He's done it to Oliva, he's done it to a few of the fighters in the Maximum tournament, he'll do it again and he won't deny it.

He enjoys playing an old fool, it makes it all the more satisfying when his opponents underestimate him and he can kick their asses into stunned submission. That being said, he also appreciates the benefits of the younger fighters automatically treating him with respect. He loves that he can still hand Baki his glasses while he whoops ass, and that Baki will still hold them without even thinking about it.

He's welcome at the Orochi home, Doppo has invited him over quite a few times, and it's common enough where Katsumi can expect him to be there most times that he visits his parents.

He's been to quite a few places, his renown as an Aiki master has gotten him places that he couldn't have even dreamed of when he was younger, causing fights behind the school.

He has a massive tank in his home with a some really brightly coloured fish, like guppies, but there's also a betta fish in there. His name is Mushu, that's his prized fish.

Restless, Desperate Hunter: A (Sort of) Repeat of Eclipse Lake

I wrote this to add to my headcanon that Hunter would, over time, desperately try to distract from his grief when everyone first starts rebuilding The Boiling Isles. This would be happening again and again till he's too tired - and too confronted by others - to continue doing it.

We can take a closer look at Luz's behaviour in Reaching Out for a bunch of clues:

Luz's phone alarm kept reminding her that she had to pick flowers for her dad's grave. As the phone alarm sounded again and again throughout the episode, she became more desperate to focus on other people's problems in order to push her own problems aside and out of mind.

She crossed over the boundaries of other people, not getting their consent first and jumping straight to helping them:

Eda confronts her about it:

And the string of events led to her lying to Amity towards the final part of the episode.

Look at how relieved Luz is when Amity even says "...I have a problem, and it could distract us all day". Luz would want nothing more than a dragged out, lasting distraction:

The biggest signs and indications show up in the second half of the episode, when we hear her inner voice here:

Which is an ultra therapy-related thing. When someone is unable to sit alone with unpleasant thoughts and emotions, they'll need a therapist and/or loved ones to accompany them and do that. If they don't, they may turn to any distraction - overwork, blaming others, violence, alcoholism and substance use, working out at the gym, and many more - to block it out via cycles of addiction.

Hunter placing all of his focus on physical sensations and external stimuli instead of inner emotions and sensations - patrolling and watching out for threats below - is a small-scale example of such distractions:

Some people go for years or decades of such blocking out, because it becomes their comfort zone. The pain of loss can be so great that absolutely anything can be used to be a Band-Aid or salve to make one (temporarily) forget that a huge gaping wound is there.

We have seen that this boi's main focus is:

being useful. But it's gonna cause tension in his relationships if he places more importance on that than anything else. The #1 family rule based on how Belos raised him was to be of use, or else be cast out. His healing journey was basically about switching to a new, far less extreme rule. The new main rule would probably be something like needing to trust that he will always find his place in a loving family and community.

For a very long time, it was normalized for him to enforce the will of Belos:

And some old habits from his Golden Guard days would die hard. But after Belos's death, enforcement and fear need to be in the past, and instead make way for true connection and love.

Irritability would be something he wrestles with too, in the many months after he loses Flapjack.

The Abomaton's alarm definitely reminded Luz here of her phone alarm. When you see Luz being genuinely angry, you know that something's up :O

Seen this before? I think so:

So, I'm pretty sure the poor bean's going to be confronted with a bunch of questions and comments like "What is up with you today?"/"You've been acting weird"/"There's something you're not telling us" from close friends and family.

And...he's gonna have a short fuse at times...as he gets more in touch with anger, not just sadness. I have a feeling that the Hexsquad's palismen might be the main trigger for such anger, since that arguably links the most directly to Flapjack's demise. But other triggers like reminders of the Emperor's Coven, would be lurking all over the place T_T Such episodes of Hunter's frustration and outbursts may happen during lessons with Dell, in the Hexside classrooms, Camila's house, Darius's house, investigating places ravaged by Belos's regime, etc.

But once he has processed more of the pain, increment by increment, he'd take a look at it. Perhaps it would take a number of visits to help human realm animals at Camila's clinic, maybe even side projects such as woodworking and more sewing to build and craft inanimate objects (basically healthy exposure therapy, while he tries to work on actual palismen).

It would become less difficult to give honest answers when people ask him what's wrong: instead of him worrying too much about inconveniencing them, worrying about the consequences of revealing what's really going on, or desperately scrambling to keep his pain at bay

Wolfram's Character Inspiration Chart

This took me a while because I've answered variations of this one before but forgot who I said. Honestly I consume a lot of media so… Wolf is basically 80% me with character traits thrown in from shows I like. I'm focusing more on personality/aesthetic/narrative than physical inspiration here... Ok maybe if Ravi and Eliot had a kid with Geralt's muscles and green eyes from somewhere?

Xena - Xena: Warrior Princess A person with a dark past seeks redemption by traveling around and doing good deeds. Wears lots of leather. Their primary weapon is a sword. Consistently flirting with their best friend. After writing the synopsis of his character story I realized Wolf is basically Xena… ok he looks more like Ares. Whatever, it's my bi-awakening show I can do what I want! After realizing this, I had to give Wolf some chakram lore too for the comparison to be complete! (which was easy with the Thavnairian dad)

Geralt - The Witcher Excellent fashion sense plus Wolf is also a person who tries to be neutral but will do anything to protect their loved ones. Mostly, Geralt is on here for his fighting style. Wolf uses more magic but he also has a very active/fluid way of combat. This is due to his dancer training and why he's so evasive, but I imagine it looks similar to how Geralt fights in the Blaviken scene from the first episode of season 1, just with the occasional VerFlare.

Ravi Chakrabarti - iZombie Did ya'll know Wolf is a bit of a nerd? I try and show it sometimes but due to the subject matter of many of the comics, it may not be obvious. He's really smart. Figures things out before others (like how did other people not realize Liv is a zombie?!) Unlike Ravi, he didn't have a formal education. He only knows the common language but reads a lot and even asks Y'Shtola to translate tomes for him. When he's around friends he's extremely talkative, usually about his interests (Mhachi history, cuisine, non-traditional uses for magic, etc). Also, Ravi's relationship with Peyton is (usually) really great power couple stuff. Plus they're good friends who joke around but are very sweet and flirty with each other. (Rahul Kohli is also Wolfram's voice claim btw!)

M.M. (Marvin Milk) - The Boys For some reason, I'm the only person I know who watches The Boys?! Anyway MM is great. He's got stuff from his past that really weighs on him but he fights through it for his friends and family. He's usually kind of the moral center of The Boys with a strong sense of right and wrong even if it doesn't align with those around him. He's also the paternal/fraternal figure trying to look out for everyone.

Jessica Jones - Jessica Jones She's got kind of a dark and snarky sense of humor. Leather. Alcoholic with PTSD but she doesn't let it stop her from doing what needs to be done and being a hero. Honestly I just really love characters who save people while not really knowing how to save themselves but hanging on anyway. Wolf's also got a pretty strong vigilante side…

Eliot Waugh - The Magicians Absolutely the most relatable depiction of depression I've seen on TV. He's usually really friendly and charismatic. Always joking around. It's all a mask for his major chronic depression. Drinks a lot. Also, very smart and talented mage without having to put in as much effort as Alice (read the books) which can be a double-edged sword. His biggest enemy is himself.

My ship in 5 minutes; Bravertz

I didn't get an ask but I wanted to do the questions for Bravertz in hope it will help my struggle to write the fic for them.

If anyone wants to hear my answers regarding what I wrote in fics and hcs for players/a ship for these questions about another ship I have the original post linked at the bottom

Who takes care of the house more?

If they lived together it would probably be pretty equal but more leaning towards Kai just because he stays home more often than Julian but only slightly.

2. If they could would they want kids?

Julian in my hcs isn't very enthused by kids, he's pretty content just being an uncle and letting his brothers raise kids. If anything maybe just one to appease Kai. Other than that both are fine having just the dogs.

3. What are some hobbies they do together?

For one video games 100%, they have literally streamed playing games together so its definitely something they share. Walking the dogs as well. Julian definitely drags Kai to watch one piece with him but Kai doesn't mind that much.

4. Their main love language?

Definitely touch by the amount of gifs and videos I've seen where they interact. The body language between them is INSANE. It feels like they can't keep their hands off each other, but also spending time and words of affection.

5. How did they become a couple?

It happened in a pretty natural friends to lovers sort of way. I feel like before they got together they were only getting closer and closer when they were at Leverkusen together until one night when they hung out Julian just went for it and confessed his love for Kai. I'd like to write the fic explaining it fully some day but idk if I'd be able to execute it properly :(

6. Who confessed to the other? Julian. Kai at the time of the confessing was far too shy and nervous to even consider confessing his feelings for Julian. He would've taken it to the grave if Julian hadn't confessed LMAO

7. What are both of their sexualities?

Julian is bisexual, Kai is gay.

8. Specific things they do for each other? When they are together in the National Team they save seats for each other so they're always sat next to each other. Along with that they always consider each other when they're together before going to hang out with their friends/family. Every time they can see each other during the club season for a game they try to arrange a date or just some time to hang out to make up for all the time they're apart.

9. Who in their circle knows about the relationship?

their football dads Marco and Mario, basically their entire close friend group, for Kai that would be Mason, Christian, Ben, Declan etc. and for Julian that would be Nico, Marco, his brother Jannis, basically everyone at BVB

10. Any past relationships either of them had?

Julian is definitely Kai's first everything. For Julian Im not sure tbh, maybe he's had some crushes and like one fling with someone else before he and Kai became friends.

AITA for not telling my son who his dad really is? (OOC this is my Monsters & Other Childish Things kid's mother)

Hi longtime lurker first time asker here! I (36F) have a son (13m) with my husband (69m) who is a very famous and controversial sci-fi author. We got together when I was 23 and he was 56 and had our kid very early into the relationship. I'm very happy being with him and love him dearly, but there's just one problem. My son doesn't know how he is and keeps asking me about him. I'm torn between telling and not telling him for many reasons some obviously stemming from motherly paranoia and some from scenarios that I've faced being open about my partner. I HAVE given him hints and gave him all the gifts my husband wanted our son to have. Including signed books of his, photos of him and his friends, personalized notes to our son, etc. For those of you wondering, no, my husband doesn't live with us but instead lives on the west coast in his own home. I've moved back to my home state to raise our son by myself to avoid controversy whilst our boy grows up. Anyways, onto my reasons.

I'm afraid that if I tell him he'll have a hard time making & keeping friends due to his father being a renowned authour in the sci-fi genre. While I like to think I'm very approachable and friendly to everyone I meet I know my husband isn't, and that might scare away any new potential friends for my son. While I'm sure my boy can hold his own ground it would be daunting for him to navigate his father's personality & fame trying to figure out which of his friends are genuine and which of those are fake.

Another reason I don't want to tell him is of how young I am compared to my husband. I'm the black sheep of the family for marrying him and having my son so young. My parents want nothing to do with us and I've been on the receiving end of "robbing the grave" comments (vice versa for my husband) from just about everyone who doesn't know us personally. It hurts me to not be comfortably open about the love of my life and I know if I tell my son it'll extend to him too. As those with kids have probably guessed being a young teen is rough, like REALLY rough, and knowing about his father might open him up to more bullying than he already faces at school.

I know other mothers are probably seeing this and can understand my pain & paranoia about my son. However I feel like I'm the asshole as he's really into my husband's books and has asked for some of his newer titles for Christmas & birthdays. It would be a shame for him to never know who his father is especially if he never gets to meet him before he passes. On the other hand I'm worried that if I tell him he's just going to have a harder time getting by socially in life. So Tumblr, AITA?

Separate question who would reader run to or what would happen if Touya died unexpectedly? Like drug deal gone wrong, car accident, wrong place wrong time didn't see it coming?

●Would she move back in with Rei and her father living as a shell of herself and neglecting her own basic needs?

●Would she find solice in Keigo? Move into his place so he could make sure she's not completely falling apart? To be that surrogate in her life until she starts to heal.

●Would she live with Rei and her dad but her mourning gets so bad to the point that readers dad asks Keigo to take her into his home to look after her because she's completely unresponsive to the outside world? Since Keigo is the only person outside of the family that continues to check in and see how she is.

●Would she cling to Natsu or Shoto or cut off all contact with todotoki siblings because she sees Touya in their hair, eyes, facial features, and it hurts knowing she can see him in his blood relatives but is haunted by never being able to hold him or be held by him again?

●If reader catches Fuyumi whispering to readers father or Rei several months after the accident that maybe this was the best outcome for everyone(the silver lining if you will)for you to have a chance at a normal life. The family, though still mouring, doesn't have to walk on egg shells, worry about Touya killing Shouto, you can have a normal relationship with a nice boy from uni. How would the reader respond after coming out from around the corner letting it be known she heard everything?

lion!!!!!! what a fascinating question, i can’t believe i’ve never thought about this situation/prospect before!! i think it’s never crossed my mind because reader and touya are so irrevocably entwined in my head, like they are more ONE now than two separate entities, they exist for each other and feed off of one another etc etc so the thought of one existing without the other is just inconceivable to me LMAO

but!!! to answer your question:

tw: suicide mention, extremely unhealthy and toxic relationship

honestly, she’d try to commit suicide. life isn’t worth living if touya isn’t by her side. as i’ve mentioned before, he has become her sole purpose in life, he has become where she derives all of her self worth and validation from, and she is by now no more than an extension of him. she doesn’t exist as her own person anymore, and she would be lost without him. she would feel as though she’s lost a crucial, vital part of herself and she wouldn’t know how to function without him, nor would she have any desire to. so suicide would be her first thought; she’d be willing and ready to follow him straight into the afterlife (and, honestly, if touya knew this he would find this thought very endearing).

natsuo would be the only one who would have any hope at preventing this outcome. he has sworn to his niisan to protect their little sister no matter what happens and he will do everything in his power to keep that promise. so he would take her in and take care of her immediately, knowing that the suicide plan of hers is a very real and very viable option. he would allow shouto to help—he wouldn’t enlist in shouto but shouto would step forward immediately as well to lend as much help as natsuo will allow, even though he knows his eldest brother would fucking hate the thought of it, of shouto being there to take care of his most precious possession in the wake of his death. but shouto doesn’t really care for that; his remaining respect for touya has already been diminished to mere cinders which we see in my snowman & me, and he cares way too much about reader and about her livelihood and health to allow such a silly notion—that his dead brother would be rolling in his grave if he knew—to stop him from being there for her and taking care of her.

reader would never, ever recover—how could she, when she’s lost her most critical organ, her whole foundation, the most important thing in her entire life? who is she, without touya? no one, that’s who. and she doesn’t want to BE anyone without him, either. natsuo would attempt to patch up, repair, some of the damage touya has done to this poor girl’s mind and soul, but he would very quickly realize that this damage is irreversible, irrevocable—it has become a permanent part of her core being, the very fabric of her soul, interwoven with the threads of who she is, and no amount of therapy or medication can unstitch that. she would, however, find some comfort and solace in both natsuo and shouto (tho more natsuo than shouto) because they remind her of touya-nii so much (it’s the same as when she first meets the three siblings at their parents wedding and she focuses on natsuo because he eases her anxieties because he reminds her of touya). eventually, way down the line, she might try to be a little happier for their sake, or because they convince her that it’s what touya would want, even though she isn’t quite sure it is (would he really want her living on without him, especially when she doesn’t want to? touya is so selfish, so greedy, so possessive, it’s hard to tell if whatever twisted ‘love’ he felt for her would be able to permeate that greed, even under such dire circumstances. would touya want her to try and be happy without him? it’s hard to say yes to that), but nothing will ever fill that massive, gaping hole in her chest that aches every night, that swallows down her organs and mangles them to hell even in the warmth of natsuo’s strong arms.

Dear Mrs. Dattebae, how are you? I hope you're always in great health!

I just wanna say that I really really love your TMG fanfiction and your writing is just.. chef kiss. The way you write the dialogue or interaction between characters flows really well I can pictured it clearly in my head, the interactions and Sixty's internal monologue feels like I can really 'see' two or more people interacting and imagined how Sixty felt throughout the story (My boy be needing a LOT of hugs and therapy :") )

I also love how you write Sixty's character arc and how he struggled with grief of losing Hank and how he copes with…well, drugs :') the part that really gets me about this was every time Sixty's really out of it, what he remembered was his past like Hank, Sumo, etc (His body was burning and his pulse was through the roof, and suddenly he could hear those familiar tunes again: Sumo’s happy barks, and the morning sun.), once again highlighting the part where he struggled with his grief imho..

Another thing that I absolutely love from Sixty in your work was that despite his addiction and struggle he still genuinely cares about his partner, owning his stuff (admits his mistakes) and put a whole damn effort to be better, grow, and make up for it in the end (even though it almost, almost cost him his life and the relationship he has with his loved ones..but hey, gotta give credit for his efforts regardless, you know? :"D).

And the part where he was finally let himself be open and vulnerable and re-connect with his family…. man it was so so good I teared up TvT

I mean these parts right here:

I seriously spent so much time just recovering from this ask because OH MY GOD!!!! 🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️😭😭😭 I’ve always said it and I’ll say it again: TMG was a raw, gritty movie inside my head and I was just dying to share it because I seriously fell in love with it? I’m not the writer type, but I am definitely a director type so reading your thoughts on certain scenes being so CLEAR in your head is giving me an overbearing amount of joy and I WISH I had better words to express them but AH H H 😭😭😭

The finale was about healing. I didn’t want a story where the reader is the reason he’s good because?? That’s so unrealistic and also kinda overdone in my opinion. People need to learn how to heal for themselves before they can be good for anyone else, and that’s exactly what I wanted for Sixty. I just love the elements of reminding people that life will never be perfect, and I think Sixty realized in the end that he can’t be perfect either: and he accepted that. Him having this black and white view of the world was one of the biggest reasons he spiraled so badly, but after realizing that even Connor (the perfect, golden child) had his struggles and flaws, it sort of cracked his reality…..gosh I could go on forever, but the point is this: Life isn’t about reaching perfection. It’s about finding a middle ground, and Sixty found it with himself, with his life and with his family. Love that for him ❤️

Nines definitely needs some longggggg vacation somewhere hot and far away from everyone 🤣🤣 I won’t be giving him that too soon, but stay tuned for chapter 2 of his little fic😏 He will always be Cain or Nines to me!!! I actually despise the name Richard for Nines 🤣🤣

I haven't read ACOSF yet, and tbh I'm rather rusty with the characters but it was really interesting to read your opinion on Elain! I feel there's a lot of complexity to her. And how she presents herself as well because as you said we literally have no chapters from hers or Lucien's POV and I think that's the important point to note because right now we're all just guessing and assuming her to be like Feyre, but she's not. People deal/show their traumas in different way and l think people expect Elain to deal with it as Feyre did. But, Feyres trauma and Elains are very different!

I don't really know what I'm saying. But I read your answer and it made me go 'oh... Huh!' in a good way, it sparked my curiosity! So thank you! But I think Elain perhaps is the most complex person with their trauma. I know people say 'oh Nesta is so different' but (I specialised in drama therapy so I love psycho analysis) and what Nesta did is self destructive to prevent relationships to avoid hurt or more emotions that she doesn't want to acknowledge (in my opinion!)

Elain just shuts down. She doesn't drink, she doesn't screw, she just remains in her garden which in itself says a lot! That's a very grounding way to handle trauma and not a lot of people are aware of that side!

So yeah I don't know what I'm saying but I think it's a really interesting discussion!

I have so many thoughts about Elain! This took me a few days to get to because i knew I had a crapton of thoughts. So this is basically me using this ask to explain the way I see Elain post-acosf!

There are three important scenes in acosf off the top of my head: when Elain talks with Nesta and they fight, and then with Nesta and Feyre and she gets mad and leaves, and then Feyre and Rhys talk about her in their chapter. We’re getting a lot more information about her, and for me, it wasn’t so much about who she is, but why we don’t know who she is.

So far, what we’ve had is Feyre’s and Nesta’s POV. Even when Feyre and Lucien tried to help her in acowar, they were unable. So we’ve never had anything about Elain from someone who didn’t grow up with her and experience the same trauma (such as becoming destitute, their mother’s death, their father being beaten, the Cauldron, etc.)

The sisters do handle it very, very differently. And I think that at this point the fandom consensus is that Elain runs away from her problems, but I actually disagree, and partly because of what you mentioned - that she isn’t using those self-harming, destructive coping mechanisms. Nesta was avoiding her problems, hardcore. It’s absolutely possible that Elain avoids things, but I don’t think that she just runs from all of her problems because:

Elain grieves her father. Openly. She tries to accept the fact that it wasn’t her fault and that she couldn’t do anything about it. (See: her going to his grave in acofas, her first talk with Nesta in acosf.) Elain does not run from her grief, she doesn’t pretend it doesn’t exist, and she doesn’t hide it from others. As one of the most defining events we’ve seen her go through in the series, that’s a pretty big deal.

Elain does not cling to unhealthy coping mechanisms. There could be ways that she does this that we are unaware of. She does seem like the type who would be really, really good at making people think she’s okay, all while she’s silently imploding. But we don’t know that yet?

Elain does not isolate herself. 

However, Elain definitely needs to deal with some stuff! She definitely needs to deal with Lucien, and she needs to have an actual talk with Nesta because I don’t remember a single satisfying resolution between those two in acosf. Not like Nesta had with Feyre. 

I have this idea that is purely based on Elain’s line in acosf:

“I went into the Cauldron, too, you know. And it captured me. And yet somehow, all you think of is what my trauma did to you.” (pg. 233)

And then Feyre tells Nesta that yes, Elain was right. 

This is so so so sossosososos important. I cannot emphasize it enough. Elain is used to putting on a fake, smiling face because she doesn’t want the weight of her sisters’ concern. She has been pretending to cope for so long - and tbf, she seems to have been doing better than Nesta - that people not only forget that she has suffered, but she doesn’t feel like she can even express that suffering.

Emotional labor often means negating one’s own feelings in order to acknowledge or tend to someone else’s. And that is Elain’s major role, in the series. Feyre has been caring for everyone’s physical wellbeing (hunting), while Elain’s role has been to care for everyone’s emotional wellbeing. But, like with most emotional labor, it has gone unnoticed.

I’ve made posts about emotional labor in the past (four years ago!!!!) but I’m gonna spare you the link because a lot of it was about a ship that’s no longer a ship, so here is the relevant content:

What I am talking about is the regulation of emotion - any time that you give comfort, are especially attentive to someone’s needs, stop thinking about how you feel in order to focus on how someone else feels, try to cheer someone up, make sure that they are taking care of themselves, try to allay their insecurities, etc. Basically, helping them with any sort of emotional distress.

You know those posts you’ve seen, about women protecting men’s egos constantly? Or about making time for self-care? Or about recognizing toxic relationships? That tell you “if X is being demanded of you in a relationship, get out”? Those are ALL about emotional labor, broadly speaking. They are warning you not to do more than you can handle, more than you need to do, because it can be harmful to you.

If you have ever been expected to make a person or people feel better any time you are around each other (including when they are angry, upset, anxious, ill, frustrated, insecure, etc.), you have performed emotional labor. Pretty much everyone has done this at some point, unless you are a completely insensitive jerk.

Notice, though, that I said expected to and any time you are around them – this is where the problem comes in for YOU. This is not about just being there for a friend.

Making loved ones feel better is fantastic. Seeing people be polite and kind to one another makes my heart shine. That is not a problem in and of itself. That can be seen as emotional labor, but there are no requirements on you in those circumstances. This is something you are doing of your own free will.

The problem, again, is when this is expected, constantly, over time. Now, in my experience, the expectation is not necessarily coming from the other person. One of the problems with this type of labor is that not only do others expect women to perform these tasks, but women expect it of themselves.

It’s super easy to see this – who is expected to take care of a child when they fall? Who is expected to baby-sit? Who did you want when you were sick as a child, mom or dad? Who is expected to be sensitive and pay attention to others’ emotions?

For more info on this idea specifically, read Of Woman Born by Adrienne Rich. As a woman, I realized how much work I had been performing and how much it was harming me and I just… got real upset. She comes at this mostly from what a woman’s role is expected to be within the family, and might actually be a bit outdated in that respect because I feel like family structures and dynamics are shifting (that is a totally un-academic evaluation of the situation, don’t quote me on that), but still, it’s really informative.

While I was doing some research for this post I came across a peer-reviewed article about nursing and basically, high amounts of emotional labor led to anxiety and burn-out in those performing it. It literally will cost your mental health – not to mention your time, energy, attention, and it often requires you to ignore your own needs (this last part came from me, not the article). On the other hand, high levels of emotional intelligence (being able to recognize your own and others’ emotional states) meant less emotional labor (and therefore less anxiety & burn-out). One of the most important things to realize is that while you are taking care of someone else’s emotional needs, your own are frequently unmet. That is why it’s important to recognize this in yourself, not just in these characters.

So where does Elain fit in? Elain is the #1 emotional labor provider of the family, and she is about to freaking SNAP. I know, because once I realized how my trauma was hidden in order to spare someone else its consequences, I fucking SNAPPEd. I’ll also spare you the personal details, but Elain hasn’t been “okay”. She hasn’t been “boring”, or “nice”, or “chosen” Feyre over Nesta. She has literally been unable to express herself because (and I am NOT blaming Nesta or Feyre or her father one bit) her family’s emotional state has been so fragile, there hasn’t been room for Elain to feel or express her emotions in years. 

In the feysand short, Rhys says:

I wonder if everyone has spent so long assuming Elain is sweet and innocent that she felt she had to be that way or else she’d disappoint you all.

And that completely tracks. Everyone has gotten used to Elain being not just “nice”, but being the emotionally predictable one. The one they know they can go to for a smile. The one they can count on for never, ever making them realize that she has been through Some Shit Too. And being that person is exhausting.

When Feyre thinks about Elain not using Lucien’s gloves, 1) she still has them, otherwise she couldn’t think about Elain not using them, and 2) I like to see the gloves as something that she will come to use, once she realizes that she can feel and express those emotions without it causing a breakdown in the family. Right now, she just wants to feel. And she can’t do that emotionally, so she’s doing it physically. Once she heals and finds a better balance, she won’t need to resort to physical pain. (Which, lowkey has me thinking some other thoughts, but.... maybe later.) But anyway, once Elain does go through her very own special journey, I fully expect her to welcome those gloves. She won’t need physical pain to feel anymore.

Not to mention my completely unacademic and non-professional opinion that people will judge a nice women harshly for being rude once, but accept a woman with a history of rudeness for just “being that way”. It’s another way that Elain may feel trapped in her “nice girl” persona. I think she started out that way - kindness and light and generosity is 100% in Elain’s character in the first place. It’s not as if she went into the Court of Nightmares and suddenly Cassian thought, “wait, she fits right in to this shithole of depravity”. No, he still thought the literal opposite. It’s just that once people get used to you doing all their emotional labor, they will continue to take advantage of it, even if they don’t realize its cost.

okay my idea for a batman v superman movie rewrite i just spent a shower’s worth of time thinking about, indirectly inspired by @asilentguardian posts about his rewatch. also note i havent seen bvs probably since it came out and barely remember ANYTHING about it let’s go

so idc about plot someone else can worry about it lets focus on the THEMES. the big, overall message we explore in this movie is the parent/child relationship and how that affects people, particularly superheroes. the specific theme we want the movie to convey is that the reason superheroes fight and can provide hope for people is because of the loved ones in their life.

so we start with that scene of batfleck in metropolis as its being destroyed. he’s driving through downtown and we see that he keeps trying to call someone but it keeps going to voicemail. “this is dick grayson, i can’t answer the phone right now-” bruce hangs up, tries again, gets voicemail again, etc. finally he’s forced to abandon his car and trek through the wreckage on foot. so he’s running towards the center of the destruction, a big plume cloud engulfs him, he’s looking around, BAM rans smack into a preteen. it’s jason. jason tells him dick told him to find bruce, but dick stayed back to help. when they reach where dick is (a library or museum??) bruce and jason get there just in time to watch dick drop off a kid, run back into the building, and watch the building fall on top of dick. boom, end scene.

now we’re back in the present, bruce has clearly lost it. very aggressive/willing to torture people, but hasn’t killed. alfred tells him off about it, says he’s going too far, tells bruce he still has another son, in case bruce has forgotten. as soon as alfred leaves we get a scene of bruce destroying some shit.

idk wtf clark was doing in this movie so let’s give him more or keep his scenes with his mom where he bonds with his mom and talks about his dad or whatever idk. clark’s whole thing with his parents ties in nicely with the theme so we don’t really need to change anything apart from just digging into those more. maybe dealing with his decision to kill zod to juxtapose with bruce’s struggle to keep himself from killing? clark is able to kill zod to protect his family bcus zod was a threat that would not be able to be contained with clark’s resources, but clark is not the type of man who would keep killing for the sake of killing. it was a stressful moment in his life but clark knows not to go over the edge. bruce’s struggle is that he knows if he kill a criminal, he won’t be able to stop.

lex luthor. i kind of liked that they made an Artistic Choice for lex luthor bcus i get it. the general version of lex luthor is like. evil billionaire which doesn’t give him a lot of depth so we’ve got to do something with him for this movie. so what we do with lex’s backstory is that we keep the abusive father angle, so what lex would do, at night, is that he would pray for god/anyone to save him or grant him powers so he can save himself. i THINK there are some continuities where lex and clark went to high school together so we do that. as an adult, lex figures out who clark is and he gets upset specifically at clark because since clark has super awesome hearing, he would have been able to hear lex begging for help as a kid, but clark never did anything. personal grudge there.

so we’re ramping up to the actual fight. i don’t remember what lex’s plan was so we can keep it or rewrite however we wish. bruce is ramping up to kill supes bcus supes killed his kid, supes is ramping up to try and stop batman bcus batman is acting fucking nuts. lex is drinking champagne on a yacht, i guess.

bruce is going back and forth on whether to kill superman, alfred gives him another talk. bruce stares at his little batch of kryptonite. he’s about to lock it up, turn away from his quest when boom, flashback.

this was from right before the metropolis fight. bruce is about to enter the room for his board meeting, but dick stops to talk. jason is chilling nearby playing minecraft on his phone you’ve seen kids. dick and bruce scene where we get the pure essence of bruce and dick’s relationship. they’ve clearly been fighting for a while and their relationship is tense but they both want to work on it and they both clearly love each other a lot. dick says he’s gonna take jason to go bond with him, then beat, dick clearly thinking of something, then dick gives bruce a hug and calls him dad.

closeup on bruce’s reaction, clearly shocked and overwhelmed. choked up but trying to hide it, he says bye to dick, gives jason a hair ruffle. goes into his meeting.

present time. can see in bruce’s eyes he’s fucking IN IT now. LET’S GO KILL SUPERMAN MOTHERFUCKERS.

we’ll keep the martha scene i like it its fine it works. maybe for the villain we have lex, like, merge with zod or something?? something fucked up. redesign the appearance too make him actually look cool idc. wonder woman comes in and kicks ass like always.

okay so bvs ends and clark is dead AWW. i don’t remember the end of bvs so here we go. quick scene, bruce gets home, clearly exhausted, and we see jason in his room reading or working on smthng. bruce walks in and sits down with him and they start talking, jason is clearly happy about it. shot of a picture of bruce, dick, jason, and alfred on jason’s desk.

clark’s funeral scene. martha and lois grieve together. martha expresses how wrong it is to bury a child. maybe lois and bruce have a convo? maybe lois is pregnant fuck it let’s go all in. she makes a joke about setting up playdates and bruce is like i am Incapable of providing any emotion support you need in this moment because i am So Bad at human emotions and lois is like oh i know i just enjoy watching you squirm. then the scene with bruce and diana where they set up the justice league movie. bruce is like yeah killing people is wrong bcus kids are the future, i guess. diana is like yeah rock on, man. shot of the dirt rising off of clark’s grave. boom end movie.

okay I have to do this today because even I wouldn’t do it after the godforsaken finale airs, and it’s basically my specialty and I did spend like an hour thinking about it last night while washing dishes. Definitely partly inspired by @words-writ-in-starlight​‘s insightful post on everything Supernatural did wrong, and apologies in advance to all the characters for dragging them into anything related to Christian mythology:

Wei Wuxian’s parents die in a house fire when he’s 6(? I refuse to look anything up) months old

Jiangs are a hunter family I guess? That whole disaster of a family dynamic, except WWX dips out at some point to be idk an environmental activist bc at the time, that seems like the larger threat to the whole world. “Mom and Dad went on a hunting trip and they haven’t come back”, “bitch” “jerk”, 2 brothers in a beat-up old car, you know the drill

Jins are also an old hunting family, but more Men of Letters energy - they have a fancy bunker and do research and avoid getting their actual hands dirty. Jiang Yanli ducked out of the active hunting life a few years ago to be happily married to her peacock and settled down with a baby and she’s fine. We’re not going to bother Yanli. She’s safe and happy and doesn’t need to involved in any of this

so, WWX is the demon blood child developing exciting new abilities like telekinesis, mind control, exorcising demons by sheer force of will...etc, and Jiang Cheng is the Righteous Man. Lucifer, Michael, etc.

s1-3 probably proceeds more or less as spn canon...which I more or less remember...by the time they find their parents at the end of s1, Jiang Fengmian is...ugh, we probably shouldn’t kill him offscreen, I mean, we should probably meet him before he dies. I guess. Madam Yu lasts longer because I’m way more interested in her. But we do know that both Jiang parents are totally inclined to fling the boys into a metaphorical or literal escape boat and go hold the line for as long as possible, so...that’s spn energy...

Xue Yang is the one who’s like “fuck yeah, demon powers” and opens the gates of Hell, because I want him to have nice* things

from characterization rather than memory, I’m 90% sure that Dean tried to hide his crossroads deal from Sam, but Jiang Cheng does it...better. I think it does come out, though. Right before the hellhounds do.

here’s where it starts to go farther off from spn canon. Jiang Cheng crawls his way out of the grave, gets stalked by a menacing presence that explodes windows for an episode, incidentally can’t find WWX...*Lan Wangji voice* “I’m the one who gripped you tight and raised you from Perdition” (a baller line then and a baller line now)...and then the next episode starts with them all awkwardly standing around, and JC is like, “ok well let’s go find my brother then”, and you think there’s going to be an mdzs-riffing JC+LWJ Roadtrip To Find WWX...and they’re immediately attacked by like a dozen demons

in fact, the first time we see WWX in s4 is here, wherein he goes toe to toe with an angel and...holds his own. that’s new and terrifying! also is leading a squad of demons??

because here’s the thing: for the last 3(?) months, there’s been war in hell

because unlike Some People Mooses, upon finding out that his brother’s soul was legally nearly-owned by a crossroads demon, heir-apparent-to-Satan!WWX went, “actually fuck that” and kicked open the door of Hell (metaphorically, not loosing any demons this time) and was like, “who do I have to beat the shit out of to get a specific crossroads contract around here”

this did not work, obv. He didn’t know until it was too late, Lilith had already snapped up the contract, etc. etc.

obviously he also tried to offer himself instead, and got rejected for some reason

Since Jiang Cheng died, however, there’s been a war for control of Hell. Leading one side, Lilith, the Original Babe, who wants to break all 666(?) seals keeping Lucifer bound and in the meantime, break the Righteous Man so Heaven won’t even have Michael’s destined host ready for the Final Battle. Leading the other side, Wei Wuxian, infamous upstart, who wants to rescue the Righteous Man and restore him to life, tear Lilith’s guts out through her nose, and also stop her from doing the Lucifer thing because Wen Qing explained that yes, that’s a Thing, and it’s Bad.

Wen Qing! I’ve decided to combine Bela and Ruby’s roles and let WQ be both the cool badass example of how demon deals can go Bad and the demon deliberately leading our heroes astray for most of s3-4. Wen Qing is a very new demon; she used to be some sort of herbalist/witch but then she sold her soul in a crossroads deal to cure her brother of some lingering illness. 10 years of happiness and then boom, hellhounds. WQ is so obviously competent, though, that they (Lilith, I guess?) immediately offers her a job, with the promise threat that gee, that’s a nice brother you’ve got there, even with his Designated Chronic Health Condition getting all relapse-y. It’d be such a shame if something were to...happen to him...

we find this out at some point in last s3 I guess? some Monster of the Week case involves WN as a witness or something, or possible next victim, and WQ shows up to be A Normal Amount Of Invested In This, while desperately trying to avoid actually interacting with her brother (who thinks she’s dead). YES, the truth comes out; YES there’s a tearful reunion

now in s4, Wen Ning is fine actually, health-wise, bc he maybe made a crossroads deal with Wei Wuxian personally, and Wen Qing may or may not have admitted that she’s supposed to be working for Lilith to get WWX ready to host Lucifer? Or potentially that comes out later, idk. Either way, she’s 100% his top lieutenant in this exciting Hell War they’re waging

[insert whatever the hell (ha) happened plot-wise in s4 of supernatural]

we obviously mix up the relationships, too, bc it’s like, *LWJ internal monologue* I’m too young to remember my brother Lucifer as he was before he Fell, but surely Wei Wuxian is his Heir and Destined Vessel in truth, for he is Charismatic and Charming and Makes Me Feel Things, with his Clearly Feigned Righteous Drive and Compassion for All God’s Creatures and - why does heat keep pooling in the lower abdomen of my vessel when I look at his lips, which I am definitely doing a Normal and Not-Weird Amount - I’m just keeping an eye out for the famed Silver Tongue, and not in any way wondering how it would feel in my own mouth -

it’s actually DEFINITELY plausible for Lucifer to still be released even if our designated Heir Apparent is using his demon powers to his full potential and no one’s lying to each other about their motives. You just need to let Lilith be more scary too, and especially bc by “no one” I mostly mean Wen Qing; the angels are still totally hiding the fact that they, too, want to jumpstart the shit out of this apocalypse.  LWJ decides at the last minute that that’s a bad idea actually, gets himself discorporated to send JC to intercept WWX because he accidentally releases Lucifer, etc. etc. Oh yeah, the boys were def fighting before this, bc JC has actually fairly reasonable concerns about the sort of things WWX is getting up to in his quest to become King of Hell...

...I neither know nor care what happens in s5

it does end with both Lucifer and Michael locked in the cage probably, bc I rather liked that solution. Fuck both of ‘em, basically.

I was toying with the idea that WWX also found Madam Yu in whatever hellish torment she was suffering after making a deal so her idiot son(s) would survive, and she was leading forces for him in the war against Lilith as well. If she came back to life somehow, body and all, it’d probably be compelling if she offered her own body to Michael - bc it’s her lineage! - and we’re all led to believe that she’s, uh, being a bitch and actually wants to risk destroying the world in order to destroy all demons...but then she seizes back control and flings herself/Michael and Lucifer into the Pit, because she’s just That Hardcore?

which means we’d actually have had her around and having characterization for most of s4-5, too, which would be fun

More importantly, it ends with newly crowned King of Hell Wei Wuxian appointing Wen Qing as Queen-Regent and ditching to go on an indefinite honeymoon with his new angel boyfriend (they’re going to fuck for like three weeks straight, then roll up their sleeves and go conquer Heaven in the name of free will), and Jiang Cheng gets to live out his hitherto-unknown-to-himself life’s ambition to be the sugar baby of the Queen of Hell. It’s very Hades/Persephone, except he goes back down to the underworld at least once a month. He gets his own demon squad whom he trains up in all the hunting techniques and it’s gr9. Wen Qing is reforming the crossroads deal process to make it more fair to the humans.

it should go without saying but Jiang Yanli is definitely a recurring character, like, at least once a season there’s a filler episode where they go to Jiang Yanli’s for dinner and have to get along as a family, and also do the much easier job of defeating some sort of terrible demon that gets loose in the bunker and turns the evening into a horror movie. She’s their main research/emotional check-in person, a la Bobby, more often appearing in later seasons when there’s, uhhh, more to emotionally check in about.

Jin Zixuan is actually a perfectly competent hunter; he’s just a priss and we don’t Like him

we like Mianmian, though. Oh, I guess the official Hunter’s Guild or w/e tries to declare WWX a public enemy on account of the whole “King of Hell” thing and she’s like “actually what if you’re morons and assholes?” and joins hte team in s4 or 5? Yeah.

idk how the 3zun disaster happens in this ‘verse but I do encourage it to be happening in slow motion as a recurring subplot for several seasons. NMJ is a hunter, LXC is obv an angel, and JGY is...I wanna say one of the more human monsters, like a vampire? Or, you know, something that could be born from JGS sleeping with someone/something he shouldn’t have

OKAY WAIT I LOVE YOUR CORIANE THOUGHTS!! i never really put much thought into marecal kids besides reading the epilogue or fanfics and being like okay cute. but your headcannon about the political impact of calore children with red blood is so interesting and i 100% agree with you. if you have any further ideas or writing i would love to hear it! the way the world world and silver succession would adjust/react to cal’s abdication and marecal’s relationship post broken throne is so fascinating to me.

First of all, Cal's abdication is the biggest slap in the face to the Silver Secession (particularly Larentia who I headcanon leads the whole thing like a shadow puppeteer. Her husband died trying to keep that Calore brat on the throne, you can bet she's got two bones to pick with him even though she wants him on that non-existent throne just so they can go back to the "old ways"). They took him abdicating personally. They send him letters almost weekly, and they are all super passive aggressive comments about his birthright, and how denying it is akin to spitting on his father's grave, and later akin to pissing on it when Cal just burns all the letters and refuses to reply.

Anyway, the political impact of Cal and Mare's marriage. Ho boi, that one is a dousy. There's a reason they have a small wedding with only their very close family and friends. They try to keep it hush hush, for a little while, but of course the Silver Secession finds out because they find out everything. They bother the living hell out of Anabel until she sends one very threatening letter back after which the letters come far and few between (she never tells Cal what she put in that letter but she always gets a wicked gleam in her eye when he asks). But the political impact of their marriage is heard round the continent. Lets be real here: Cal is no longer a prince, but he is still a very high profile figure in the Nortan government (now the States). Mare is both a prominent Scarlet Guard figure and Montfort one. There are very LOUD whispers saying that Montfort forced them to marry to create a permanent bridge between the two countries. That Montfort is using Mare as a leash on Cal and the States to dictate how they function etc. (Which may or may not be the actual truth)

They dont want kids at first. Cal's a little heartbroken about it of course. He wants kids, has always wanted them. But Mare is right, and their children would be in danger from the moment Mare conceives. Then Mare says fuck it, I want a baby. They try and she gets pregnant. The Silver Secession finds out. Those letters that stopped coming for a while come back, but with a fury from hell. It gets so bad (after Mare is actually almost kidnapped at one point) that they have to go underground and hide until the baby is born. Dane and Carmadon offer the cabin in Paradise valley because it's location is actually incredibly secret and isolated and safe. So they go there, and Coriane is born a few months later. Cal cries in relief because her blood is Red. There is no way the Silver Secession will come after her now, but they try and it is the most hellish three years of Mare and Cal's life. It puts them off from having any more children. There are eleven kidnapping attempts before Coriane is even a year old (one for every month she is alive and breathing air)

Then they just stop. The letters stop coming, the kidnappings stop. Mare and Cal walk on egg shells, Coriane toddles along, growing by leaps and bounds and making them proud every second of every day. She's loud and proud and walks around saying: My name is Coriane BARROW Calore. When people try to call her Coriane Calore. They find out that the Silver Secession is not happy with Coriane being Red. And People whisper when they go to the States. Some people who are not exactly part of the Silver Secession but who still whisper "Long Live Tiberias the Seventh" when Cal passes in the street with Coriane on his shoulders and Mare at his side are not happy either. They sneer at the giggling toddler at his side reaching to touch the pretty things in the market. They jeer at her Red blood when she laughs so hard her cheeks burn bright, cherry apple red. They frown when they see Mare nuzzle her neck and press kisses all over her face. They especially dont like when Cal glares at them until they pull back into their stalls or shops or go back to their coffees and newspapers. Around this time, (In my headcanons) Coriane meets Nikolas Samos (second born to Wren and Ptolemus) and they become instant friends. A dangerous thing of course... for obvious dynasty reasons, and this fuels the Silver Secession for a little while.

Then Mare gets pregnant again. Shade is the definition of a Whoopsie! Baby. They immediately go into hiding this time. They take Coriane, Cal takes a leave of absence, Mare takes one too, and they dont tell ANYONE where they are going. The reason? The nurse who did mare's check up told someone it was a boy, and that person had some nefarious connections to a certain Silver Political group that was running on fumes up until that moment. The first letter that arrives at their little house in Ascendant is written in beautiful court handwriting (Larentia's unmistakable tact in every word of that letter) and swears fealty to Tiberias Calore the Eighth who isn't even born yet. Cal torches that letter with his bare hand before Mare can even read it. Coriane doesn't like being taken away from her cousins and her grandma and grandpa and her aunt Farley, but they go in the dead of night and don't look back.

Shade is born in the middle of a storm like Clara, and Sara is the only person to see Mare or Cal in six months. They come back to Ascendant two months after Shade is born with a healthy baby boy, and everyone looses their minds. There are six kidnapping attempts in two months. Mare and Cal dont sleep for weeks, there is one dead Silver Secession member who got halfway down the street before Mare used Brain Lightning for the first time and liquified his insides. She is so horrified by it she cries herself to sleep for three nights because Coriane saw her do it, saw what her mother could do, and won't come near her out of fear.

But that too passes after a few years, because it gets around that Shade is a Red baby that looks more like Mare and her dead brother than Cal. Then it's back to Coriane, who by now is old enough to begin to understand what is going on around her. She starts to notice the whispers, the pointing, the stares when she goes out with her dad to train. (She accidentally set her bedsheet on fire after a nightmare, and that is where the trouble begins again). The letters start coming again, but they're addressed to her instead. She's only ten, so when she gets the first one with her name on it in pretty writing, she opens it before Mare or Cal notice, and is so confused by what is in it that she shows them it for clarification. Mare takes it and rips it to pieces, and Coriane cries about it, because that was HER letter. They have to sit her down with a very young Shade then and tell her a story about brothers, crowns, and mutations, death, war, and pain, and sorrow, and love. Then she understands. She's eleven when she does her first broadcast to denounce a throne that doesn't even exist anymore. She shakes with nerves in front of a camera, and has to hold a notecard with what she has to say on it. She mispronounces five words, and almost cries when she stumbles over a phrase she doesn't even understand, something about ever and always and crowns being broken. Cal stands behind her the whole time, squeezing her shoulders in reassurance. The nightmares begin after that for him, because there is a letter sent telling him of a distant Calore relative who is very interested in Coriane and would like to meet her. When Cal looks into him, he finds out he's 45 years old. And when I tell you he packed a bag the moment he finished that letter and drove to the airfield to take an air jet himself and kill the man, I tell you that Mare stopped him by standing in the middle of the runway and refusing to let him take off without going through her. "You give them what they want if you go after him." she tells him when he breaks down and kneels before her while she sits on their bed holding his head against her stomach. They NEVER tell Coriane about that, but there is two more letters that come like it.

Coriane and Nik becomes very close, dangerously close. There is one fic I will write at some point where both of them are taken and they actually get them away from Montfort and to a secondary location. There is man hunt led by Cal and Ptolemus and they do not keep those children for long. There is no record of what happened at that dilated mansion in the middle of the woods in the upper States, but Cal comes back with Silver blood under his nails and Coriane in his arms four days later.

When she gets older, much much older, into her later twenties, three different people send requests for her hand in marriage. She burns those letters and doesn't even deign them a response. Shade gets similar requests, and he throws the letters away. The Silver Secession goes out with a whimper, and eventually Coriane and Shade are safe. But inbetween their childhood and those years, people start whispering different things. "The word is changing, it's really changing" they whisper, and then say, "A Calore had two children, both Red, and they are kind."

A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?

Kokichi is very energetic and chaotic, so he needs to be doing something active as to not get bored. Playing video games is a great way to keep him occupied! Especially if you both play a competitive game like Overwatch, or Mario Kart!

B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

The way you’ve never took his shit, or his lies. He admired that you always told him off for lying, or for teasing Gonta or Kiibo. He couldn’t help to fall a bit more each time. Sure, it makes him do it a bit more, but he just can’t help himself when you look so cute while you’re frustrated.

C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

Jokes. Though sometimes they can hurt, which then that’s when he starts getting a bit serious. He’s not the best at comforting people, as he’s never really had anyone to comfort besides his DICE members. He would give you a bunch of sweets, and even his sacred Panta!! Once you start feeling better, he’ll slowly turn back to himself and make more lighthearted jokes to you.

D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

Kokichi dreams about you officially becoming his second in command in DICE with him. His members love you, he loves you, so it’s perfect! Though, if you’re not that kind of person, he’ll understand and leave it alone. He hates forcing you to do things when you don’t want to do them.

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

You’re probably going to be the dominate one in the relationship. This man has a diet of a seven year old, and the maturity of one as well. He needs a little help trying to get his life together as an adult, so he would be grateful for your help. Even if he purposely doesn’t do what you ask, just so you can pay more attention to him.

F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

Kokichi is a shithead, through and through. Most likely, he’d be the one upsetting you. The best way to get back at him is the silent treatment. He despises the silent treatment, since he thrives off of attention, both negative and positive. He can’t even last a whole day, apologizing to you with those rare tears in his big eyes. 

G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

He’s extremely grateful for you. You keep him grounded, you keep him in check, and you keep him from committing arson the first chance he gets. He’s extremely aware of everything around him, so you taking care of him will make his little liar heart grow a bit more. He repays you by leaving small candies in your pockets while you’re not looking. They’re his favourites!! So you know you mean a lot to him.

H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

This is Kokichi we’re talking about. He’s a liar, no matter who you are. The best way to get him to tell him the truth, is when he’s extremely tired. But once you truly get to know him, his actions and expressions always contradict his lies. You would always be able to tell when he’s upset. If you call him out over and over again about it, his wall will break and he’d tell you the truth. Another reason why he loves you.

I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

Kokichi is always going to be Kokichi, though he would get slightly softer to people. He’s still a liar, of course, but his teasing and jokes will become more lighthearted when you’re around. Dating Kokichi is the closest thing to....babysitting. He’s taught you a lot of patience, since you’d need so much to deal with him.

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

He’d lie about this to his grave, but again, his expressions and actions say otherwise. His grip will tighten on your hand, his expression darkening at the person you’re talking to. God forbid the person lay a hand on you, they would be the main target for his pranks for weeks. Once you’re alone, you’d have to comfort him and tell him that he’s the one for you, and not anyone else will change that. His attitude will pop back to normal in no time.

K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

Kissing isn’t something he took for account when he went into a relationship with you. Though he would have a big grin when he’s ready to do so. You’re probably going to be his first kiss. He’d climb you like a tree, wrapping his arms around your shoulders as his feet dangle from the ground. He’s pepper your cheeks and lips with small kisses as he giggles. His face would be slightly red, clinging to you for the rest of the night.

L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

He would be the one to confess, but try to convince you that it was a lie. You know better, of course. He’d start to panic slightly, bouncing on the balls of his feet as he tries to convince you more. Once you accept him, his mood will return back to carefree. “Of course! I knew you liked me! Who wouldn’t like a Supreme Leader?” He didn’t know, so he’s extremely relieved.

M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

Kokichi never really had a set decision on marriage. He wouldn’t care if you two didn’t get married, but he also didn’t care if you both did. Ultimately, it’ll all be up to you, so you would be the one to propose to him. He’d be extremely smug about it, “I mean, I am pretty cool, right? I would marry myself too!!” That’s his way of saying yes.

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

The dumbest nicknames. “Second in command,” “little sausage,” “mom/dad/parent.” Though, it he’s feeling a bit more affectionate, “love,” would be his go-to.

O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

He’s a very physical person, so he would climb into your lap as you’re reading, doing homework, or simply watching TV, and wrap his arms around your waist. He wouldn’t speak much, nuzzling his face into your chest as he absorbs your warmth and love.

P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

Again, Kokichi is a very physical person, so he’d be constantly holding your hand, calling you his love. Gloats all the time about you. He’s not shy in the slightest, even less by you, so he would tell all his friends, especially Kaito on how amazing you are and how no one can get someone as great as you. Which is not a lie!

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.

He brings fun into your life. He brings a slight sunshine as he acts like himself. He loves you very much, and just his presence makes the room light up a bit more. Even if he’s teasing someone, he’d always look over at you with a genuine smile.

R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

He’s not romantic in the slightest. Your dates are dumb and...oddly very fun. Video game nights with take out, snuggling while watching some dumb, low budget horror movie. Kokichi prefers to spend time with you rather than going somewhere extravagant. Though, he would love to go to a carnival with you. He loves playing the games, going on rides (sometimes he’s too short to go on it, so he gets pouty), and get junk food!

S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

He’d tease you about your goals, but he makes note on them. He and his DICE members will help you achieve anything you want, no matter how impossible they may seem. Kokichi doesn’t have any big life goals, but he adores yours. You look so happy when you do reach them, so he thrives for your smile every time.

T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

Kokichi never ever has a plan for anything, everything is spontaneous and exciting. Your relationship is never boring with him, whether its running away with you in tow from an angry person he just pranked, or just having a lazy day in, its never an in-between. 

U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

He has a hard time expressing himself, but he knows you by the back of his hand. You don’t even have to be looking at him for him to know you’re sad. Just by the slight slouched posture, he knows he has to go get your favourite sweets to comfort you.

V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?

You and his DICE members are his family, so you guys are very important to him. Sure, he seems selfish, but on the inside, he’d give himself up in a heartbeat for his family.

W ild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.

He likes to sneak things he thinks you may like into your pockets. He could find a little shiny coin, and slip it into your shirt while you’re not looking. You have a small collection of small, shiny things that Kokichi has found on your dresser.

X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

He prefers to show affection alone with you, since he gets a bit blushy from your touches. He’s very slim and small, so just scoop him up into your arms and carry him to bed and he’ll be yours. He prefers small, butterfly kisses rather than proper, long kisses. He wants to show his love to every inch of you.

Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

Kokichi gets very, very pouty when you’re gone, amping up his pranks and jokes to his friends. Since you’re not with him, he has to make up for the lost pranks. Once you return, he’s clinging onto your leg as he cries crocodile tears as he begs you not to leave again. 

Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lenghts for the relationship? If so, what kind of?

Kokichi will give and much as you give. He believes in equality, so if you go great lengths, so will he.
