They said when you fell in love with the right people, everything would fall in place after.
What a load of bullshit.
You had come to a conclusion one winter morning, laying in the Gryffindor common room dressed in your woolly, green jumper. You rested on the worn-out leather seat, nervously fiddling with your fingers as you stared at the ceiling, thinking about how it was going terribly wrong. How funny it was, that the 30th of December greeted you with an existential crisis instead of presents and hot chocolate.
There was something quite wrong with you, you had noticed for the past few months.
Every time Sirius Black smiled at you, showing off his pearly canines and the crinkles by his deep-grey eyes, you would experience a painful, tightening sensation in your chest — like someone was squeezing at your heart. Most people knew Sirius Black, the prankster, but you were lucky enough to know Sirius, the kind and spirited boy who had a heart that loved fiercely more than anyone you knew.
Cosy afternoons found you in the library with Remus Lupin, and a strange feeling would erupt in your stomach whenever Remus leaned down, and you’d catch a whiff of pine needles and fresh mint. Shaggy, blond hair falling over his eyes as he came to life, talking about your common love for muggle books. He made time feel like an illusion, minutes fading away into hours as the two of you shared stifled giggles, cheeks numb by the time you left the room.
And James, oh James Potter. It was difficult to describe what you felt with him — but with James, the brightest colours in the world couldn’t even compare to him. James was like putting on a pair of brand-new eyeglasses and seeing everything clearly for the first time. And without a doubt, you knew that James would never let you get hurt. But these days, you were weak in the knees as you’d see him across the Great Hall, waving at you excitedly as he bellowed your name, and to come and sit next to them.
Last, but certainly not the least, Lily Evans. Her sweet, airy voice was a warm hug on a cold day. And her actual hugs were second to none — don’t tell Sirius, however, he liked to shift into Padfoot to steal Lily’s title as the queen of cuddling. Lily flowers were delicate, she was anything but. The spitfire of Gryffindor, who would raise her chin and defy anyone who would harass you for hanging out with them.
(“You’re our emotionally constipated Slytherin,” said Lily as she mushed your cheeks, cooing when you tried to glare at her, and the three boys guffawing in the background. They liked to tease you often, being a year younger than them.)
Were you dying?
That was the only plausible explanation to your palpitating heart and rickety knees.
No, it was definitely not because you had gone and fell in love with your best friends.
That was absurd.
You had tried venting to Lucius Malfoy once. Narcissa often doted on you, sneakily leaving treats on your desk before she left for her class, and fussing when you got sick — which was quite often. That meant, when you weren’t with the marauders, you were trailing after the Slytherin power couple, or Severus.
(Lucius curled his lips in disgust, Narcissa sipping tea by his side, failing at hiding her knowing smirk. “I am above such childish matters,” hissed Lucius, scowl deepening when Narcissa laughed heartily, looking happier than she had been since returning home for the holidays. “I do not know why you’d even think to come to me for this.”
You huffed.
Maybe you’d try Severus next.
Naturally, he stormed off the moment Lily’s name fell from your lips.
Your resident seventh-years were confusing.)
Fortunately, you were stripped from your thoughts when the entrance to the common room slammed open, the paintings clamouring as they were disturbed from their slumber. One by one, the marauders piled inside the room, a string of melodious laughter and boisterous conversations following their arrival. Hastily, you sat up, heart thudding against your ribcage. Silence, you wretched beast, you told it. Don’t let them see how I burn for them.
“There you are!” Sirius came into view first, grinning widely as he crossed the room to reach you. “Who said you could be this pretty in the morning, love?”
Ba-dump!
Sirius plopped down head first onto your lap, manoeuvring your hand to comb through his hair as he sighed in contentment. “Bloody hell,” He exhaled shakily, “Last night was the worst one we’ve ever been through.”
Your fingers ghosted through the new scar etched across his sharp cheekbones — it was nothing Madam Pomfrey couldn’t fix, but you still didn’t like the sight of them bruised and wounded. Swiftly, Sirius grabbed your hand and intertwined your own with his. “I’m sorry,” You whispered.
Sirius chuckled tiredly, tightening his hold on you, as though you were a tether that kept him afloat in his sea of nightmares.
(And you were. If only you knew.)
“It’s not your fault,” said Sirius.
Then, your eyes landed on Remus limping towards you, his bare skin littered with scrapes and marks, supported with an arm around James’s broad shoulders. He sent a toothy smile your way, despite the tired lines on his forehead and deep bags beneath his eyes. “Waited up all night for us, huh?”
“I just couldn’t sleep knowing you guys were out there,” You whispered sheepishly. “It’s too dangerous, what happens if something goes terribly wrong, and it costs you your life? We need to tell someone.”
“Everyone who needs to know, already knows.” Remus bit down a pained expression as he sat by your side, head lolling on your shoulder. “This is the best we have for now.”
You didn’t like it.
You didn’t like it at all.
Before you could reply, Remus turned his head, lips feathering against your exposed skin. His voice was low as he said, “‘Sides, it’s our job to worry about you, not the other way around.”
“Well, I apologize for interrupting your job,” You whispered back harshly, wondering if that was all you were to them, a younger friend they felt the need to look after. Oh, how mortifying that would be.
James chuckled from behind you, bending over the back of the couch, he pressed a kiss to the side of your head, lingering for a few moments that felt like an eternity. “You’re too adorable,” said James, tweaking your nose. “Our angry, little Slytherin.”
“I’m not little.” You glowered at him.
“Perhaps not.” James smiled cheekily. “But you’re ours.”
Often times, you had wondered how the five of you came to be so tight-knit, knowing their disdain for most of the Slytherins.
(Little did you know, you smiled at them once in Potions, and they were a goner.)
Something stirred deep in your belly.
You sucked in a breath. “Don’t say things like that, James.”
People could get the wrong idea.
You could get the wrong idea.
“Well, why not?” Lily appeared in your peripheral vision, the scent of blooming wildflowers and fresh rain filling the room. Like the three boys, her skin was sallow from lack of sleep, but her bare face and blinding grin left your heart racing. “It’s true, isn’t it?”
It could be, just not in the way you wanted it to be true.
You sighed. “Class is going to start in a few hours, I should get going.”
“Or,” James began wickedly, throwing a thick blanket onto the floor by the fireplace, and tossing a bunch of throw pillows at Sirius’s face. “We could have a sleepover right here.”
“Sounds good to me,” said Lily merrily, stealing James’s blanket as she placed a pillow beneath her head.
“I really have to go—” You reasoned pathetically.
“Stay,” whispered Sirius without even opening his eyes as he curled his lithe fingers around your wrist. “You being here makes us feel better.”
They were too cruel, saying all these sweet words, not knowing how it drove knives through your heart.
James yawned as he laid on the carpeted floor, hiking the blanket up to his shoulders as he threw a leg over Lily, pulling her close to his chest, nuzzling the crook of her neck. “D’you have your textbooks with you, love?” He asked you drowsily.
“No,” You answered, any other words lodged in your throat.
“That’s fine.” James hummed. “I’ll just get the cloak and sneak into the dungeons later to get the books for you.”
“Sleep,” Remus urged you, unaware how you shivered at his words.
“You can’t be comfortable like that,” You told him in disbelief, watching his neck bend at an angle to lay on your shoulder.
“Trust me,” said Remus gently, eyelashes tickling your skin, “I’m right where I want to be.”
You had grown silent for a few beats, unaware how Sirius’d opened his eyes, staring at your worried expression.
(How could one person be so perfect, he wondered.)
“You alright, darling?” He reached out to trace the curve of your jaw with his thumb, the palm of his hand holding your face as though you were a pureblood’s antique treasure. (Mine, mine, mine, his heart screamed.)
But like the Slytherin you were, you lied as easily as you breathed.
“I’m fine.”
As you laid in between Remus and Sirius, watching the peaceful rise of Lily and James’s chests, you had come to a daunting realization.
You were irrevocably and agonizingly in love with your best friends.
And because fate liked to spit in your face, the four of them were already in a beautiful, committed relationship.
Who were you to get in the way of that?
They would understand, you convinced yourself.
They would understand that you had to stay away from them. You had to protect your heart and keep it safe. The marauders were a dangerous bunch, and they had played the biggest prank on you, and by Merlin, would you fall for this particular prank over and over again if it meant you could hear their voices and fall into their embrace.
But you couldn’t stay. They would only crush your heart otherwise.
If Gryffindors wore their heart on their sleeves when they fell in love, Slytherins protected theirs with every fibre of their being, locking it in a cage where no one else can have the power to break it.
Like what any love-stricken teenager would do in the face of heartbreak, you began to ignore the objects of your affections — ignoring the way your soul called out to theirs.
It wasn’t as obvious the first few days. You would escape their company under the ruse of studying for McGonagall and Flitwick’s practical tests.
(“They’re notoriously difficult after all,” You told them, a nervous laugh accompanying your lie. Peter eyed you curiously, noticing small details the others could not see — your quivering lips, your nails digging into your palms, and the way your eyes wouldn’t meet any of theirs. “I just don’t want to fail.”
You could have cried at the way James held the back of your head as he placed a soft kiss on your forehead. “You’ll do well, love. You always do.”
“You can study with me, if you want,” Remus quickly offered. “I’m not as good as James in transfiguration, but I can definitely teach better than those two.”
“Hey!” Sirius exclaimed in mock offence.
“Thanks, it’s sweet of you to offer,” You told them, shifting your weight awkwardly from one foot to the other. “But—”
“Say less, darling,” Lily interjected kindly, wrapping her scarf around your neck. She smiled at you, holding both your cheeks in her palms. “They’re the worst lot to study around, I know. Just don’t study too hard, okay? Take breaks, have a cup of tea now and then, and remember it’s okay to ask for help — don’t give me that face — if it gets too overwhelming, just ask. We’re here for you in every way you need us.”
Oh.
You were well and truly screwed.
“Thanks,” You croaked.)
But it was getting harder and harder to come up with excuses.
(“Wotcher!” Sirius grinned, encasing you in a tight hug after bumping into you in the corridor. “Haven’t seen you in a while, busy bee. Fancy a lunch with us in Hogsmeade?”
You scrunched your nose, red and bitten from the winter frost, stepping away from him and ignoring the way his face fell. “I. . . I can’t. I’ve got practice with the Frog Choir.”
Sirius shoved his hands in his trouser pockets. “S’alright. I can wait and pick you up right after, then we’ll swing by that shop you really like—”
“I can’t, Sirius,” You interrupted harshly, wrapping your arms around your chest as your gaze dropped to the ground. “Sorry. I just. . . I’ll just catch you some other time.”
Sirius flinched. “Sure, love. Other time, yeah?”
But only the wind replied.
Saturday came, and along with it was the long-awaited match between Gryffindor and Slytherin. James, decked out in his uniform, bounded over to you at the Slytherin’s side of the Great Hall, oblivious to the death glares some of your housemates had sent his way. He wrapped his arms around you from behind, lifting you from your seat.
“It’s Quidditch day, pidge!” James tilted his head, awfully resembling a lost, confused puppy. “Why aren’t you dressed yet? It’s the game of games! Even Remus is announcing the game later.”
You bit your lip before responding. “I’m not going, James.”
“What?” He furrowed his brows. “Why not?”
Ever since you had become friends with James Potter in your first year, you had never missed a single game of his. Except for the one time you had fallen sick during his match against Hufflepuff — and the moment he knew you were ill, the game ended in less than two minutes, by his sheer determination to get by your side quickly and make sure you weren’t alone.
You sighed. “I don’t know, James, I’m just not feeling up to it today.”
It was a big, fat lie, and he knew it too.
You didn’t go to his match later that day.
It was one of the biggest losses James had ever experienced — he wasn’t talking about Quidditch.)
Your housemates were beginning to realize was something was off as well. They might not be particularly fond of the Gryffindors that captured your heart, but they were fond of you, and they guarded their own.
You had a stare-down with Regulus Black in the common room — and you weren’t about to lose — before he blinked and asked, “What did my brother do?”
“Nothing,” You replied, pretending to be engrossed with your herbology textbook.
Severus rolled his eyes before plucking the book out of your hands. “Spit it out, woman. We’ve had to watch you mope around pathetically for days now. It’s irritating the rest of us.”
You sniffled. “Then just leave me alone! No one asked you to check up on me!”
“Unfortunately, we can’t.” Severus took a seat beside Regulus. With a pained grimace, he said, “So you can. . . pour your heart out to us.”
“I can’t.” You wailed. “I’m a Slytherin, we’re the worst at that.”
Regulus shrugged his shoulders. It’s true. We’re hopeless.”
“But,” He raised his wand, “We do speak in jinxes and curses.”
“Don’t you dare!” You blubbered, wiping at your tears — but somehow, without having to express it in words, they understood, and you had felt lighter.
Still, you missed them.
“This is pathetic.” Lucius enters the common room, Narcissa holding onto his arm, watching the scene before him with blank eyes. “Black, Snape, get out, you’re only making whatever this is, worse.”
Narcissa was by your side in an instant, dabbing at your wet eyes and cheeks with a handkerchief that cost more than your life. “Hush now, darling. What’s wrong, hm? Was it that idiot cousin of mine? Don’t worry, Lucius can tell his father, and we’ll have them begging at your feet by tomorrow.”
You cried louder.
“I jest, I jest.” Narcissa softly chuckled, pulling your hair away from your face as she tugged you close. “Please tell us what’s wrong. It’s been awful seeing you like this for the past few days.”
Lucius sat on the loveseat across you, resting his feet atop the glass coffee table. “Yes, I beg you — do as she says, for the love of Merlin. But, really, what else did you expect, associating yourself with that ragtag of miscreants?”
Narcissa glared at him.
Lucius raised his arms in surrender.
Narcissa clicked her tongue before returning her attention to you, eyes softening at your tear-stricken face. She smiled, albeit sadly, as she said, “Perhaps, I know what is wrong.” She gestured to the way you clutched at the front of your shirt. “It is the matters of the heart, is it not?”
You nodded weakly. “I love them.”
“And they, you,” said Narcissa. “So, what is wrong?”
“I love them!” You hiccuped.
“Unfortunately.” Lucius handed you a tissue. “The whole of Hogwarts knows this already, so I do not understand why you’re blowing snot all over my fiancé’s robes about it.”
“They don’t feel the same way about me,” You confessed with a sob.
Lucius stared at you incredulously. “Please do not tell me that you are this daft.”
“What do you mean?” You asked him through narrowed, teary eyes, Narcissa rubbing the tips of your numb fingers from crying so much.
“I did not sign up for this.” Lucius rubbed at his temples as he stood up. “I will only say this once, so make sure you are listening. Those Gryffindor idiots are so disastrously in love with one another — let me finish, damn you — and if you cannot see that they love you too, then it is your own fault. It physically pains me to see the way they smile when you are near. They would move the earth for you, and they would shake the heavens for you.”
Gryffindors must have hearts made of steel, because you didn’t know how they could be so brave, to look fear right in the eyes and say: I’m ready.
Because you surely weren’t. You were headed towards your usual spot in the courtyard by the clock tower, legs heavy and swell deep in your throat. Then, you found them, looking so achingly beautiful under the sunlight, huddled together for warmth as they smiled and laughed at lame puns and mistimed jokes.
Did you have a place with them?
You were about to find out.
“Hey,” You greeted once you were right in front of them. A month of evading them, and now you were here. It was like finding a piece of your soul that you had lost.
(For them, seeing you was like finally being able to breathe again.)
“Hey,” said Lily, devoid of any warmth, and that broke you.
Bravery was poison, you decided. A trap for weak-hearted fools like you.
Sirius shot James a look before clenching his jaw. “No choir practice today? No study sessions with Cissa or Reg? Wait, no, I’ve got it. Slughorn’s dinner party? Or is it detention with McGonagall today? Does her highness finally feel up to talking to the peasants?”
You inhaled sharply. “Never mind. This was a bad idea.”
But this — is what you deserved. You had hurt them badly, so it was only right for them to stomp on your heart for everyone to see, just as you did to them many times this month.
A sob tore from your lips as you swivelled on your heels, ready to flee the scene and never show your face to anyone else ever again. Yet, before you could leave, Remus clamped his hand over your wrist.
“Why?” He stared at you, searching for anything that could explain your sudden behaviour. Remus looked at you with such emotion, tightly holding onto you — but never enough to hurt, because Remus could never be capable of hurting you. He’d die before he would ever cause you pain.
(You made him feel unafraid of the moon.)
“Was. . . was it something I did?” Remus asked, laying his wounds bare for you to see. “Was it me?”
“I love you!” You shouted in the midst of panic — you had never wanted to cause Remus to doubt himself. Your loud declaration had caught the attention of some, but you stood on, curling your fists firmly. You needed to do this.
“I love you.” You said once more, breathlessly, staring right into James’s eyes. Such a beautiful shade of hazel. “I love each one of you. And it. . . it hurts right here.” Tears dripped from your eyes to the side of your chin as you splayed your hand over where your heart rested.
“Because you don’t feel the same.”
The four of them simply gazed at you, slack-jawed and wide-eyed.
You took that as confirmation for what you had been fearing all along.
“And that’s okay if you don’t,” You snivelled, unable to see clearly with the streams of tears in your eyes. You thought of how Sirius melted at Lily’s touch and how Remus was the anchor to James’s wild streak. How they all complemented each other and fit perfectly like puzzle pieces. “Just give me a few months, and I’ll get over it. It’s a stupid crush anyway, it’s my fault. The four of you are perfect together, how could—”
“Shut up,” James hissed before cupping your face and pulling you in for a kiss. Cherries and pumpkin pasties. He kissed you deeply once more before pressing his lips to your eyes, desperately washing away your tears with his devotion. “Was that it? We could have been doing this ages ago.”
“What?” You rasped, knees buckling at the weight of his gaze.
James only smiled, stealing your third kiss.
Sirius pulled your hand, his arm encasing your waist as you stumbled to his chest. Like James, he kissed you fervently, like he wanted to chase off all your fears and doubts. His lips were warm against yours — firewhiskey. You wanted to be burnt by his flames again and again. He held you close, committing every inch to memory.
(You were art that he wanted to worship.)
He kissed your forehead. “We love you, daft girl.”
He kissed both of your eyes, chuckling when a new wave of tears came. “We have loved you ever since you burnt my mother’s howler in fourth year, and gave us poorly-knitted sweaters for Christmas.”
“I love you,” said Sirius. “As certain as the spring that arrives after winter, I love you.”
You snuffled. “I. . . I don’t understand.”
Remus stepped in your line of sight to place his jacket over you — it was Sirius’s leather jacket, really, but Remus liked to claim it occasionally. He bundled you in earmuffs and rested his chin atop your head, exhaling in relief. “I thought it was me.”
You shook your head, clinging to the front of his shirt. “No, never. It was me. I’m sorry.”
Remus grinned wolfishly, eyes swooping down to your kiss-stained lips. (There you were, standing in the snow that threatened to melt, eyes rimmed with tears, hair wildly ablaze from the cold breeze, cheeks damp and red — but how devastatingly beautiful you were.) “May I?”
You nodded. “P-Please.”
Blueberries and dark chocolate. Remus whispered against your lips, “If it wasn’t already clear, the feeling is bloody mutual — we love you, just as the moon loves the sun enough to chase after it every day.” He grabbed your hand and placed it over his heart, you were surprised to see him holding back tears of his own. “All my life, I thought I was this monster who didn’t deserve to live. But you, all of you, make me selfish enough to want to belong here.”
He kissed you desperately, words of adoration and love falling from his lips.
Finally, your eyes settled on Lily. You waited for her reaction with a bated breath.
You hadn’t expected for her to burst into tears as she rushed over to you.
“Don’t you ever do that again,” said Lily angrily before circling you in her embrace, burying her nose in your hair. You hugged her back, drowning in her scent and warmth. “You are deserving of all the things you want, so don’t run away — if you run, we’d follow you, idiot girl.”
Then, Lily captured your lips with her own.
She tasted like happy endings.

“Dove.” There’s exhaustion in Remus’ voice, and you feel wretched for putting it there. “You’re going to feel so much better if you just get it out of your system, sweet girl.”
“I’m fine,” you mumble, but you have to swallow after the words. The muscles in your abdomen spasm punishingly.
“You’re not,” Sirius insists. He’s been alternatively soft and stern with you, a vacillation you know stems from worry and so you’re trying not to hold it against him. Still, Remus sets a pacifying hand on his shoulder when some of your hurt shows on your face.
You know you’re being difficult. You’d all gone out for dinner the night before, to a nice place, and all gotten the same pasta on the server’s recommendation. It was really spectacularly good. You’re not loving it so much now, though, when you can taste it in the back of your throat, vying for exit.
Each of the boys had thrown it up in the early morning, and you’d spent the night on the couch, the worst girlfriend in the world, listening to ocean sounds through noise-canceling headphones and trying not to think about what was happening in the bathroom.
Now you’re still lying curled up on the couch, taking sips of coke through a straw with a tiny electric fan set up on the coffee table to blow cool air in your face. James has wormed his way underneath you so your torso is laid across his lap, one of his hands pressed protectively over the aching part of your belly, and Sirius is perched on the coffee table while Remus watches you from the armchair.
“Baby,” Sirius tries again, “Remus is right. This sort of food poisoning doesn’t go away on its own. You won’t feel better until you let it out.”
You make a half-suppressed whimpering sound, and James coos, rubbing your stomach. “I know,” you admit. “I just—” Mortifyingly, tears invade your vision. You press your face into the couch, but not before you see Sirius’ brow crease with sympathy. “—really don’t want to.”
“We know, honey.” James kneads skillfully at your abdomen, working out the tight muscles. “I get that it’s really hard for you, and you’re scared, but when it’s over it’s over. You only have to do it once.”
You nod, and hot tears clump in your lashes. You don’t trust yourself to speak anymore. You hear the bucket they’d brought into the living room for you being moved closer, but you ignore the sound.
“You’re alright,” Remus says, voice low and sure. “You’re going to be just fine. Just let it happen, and then you don’t have to do anything else. We can all relax for the rest of the day, yeah?”
James’ fingers press gently into your stomach, and your gasp turns into a hiccup. You lean over the bucket with a whine, and Sirius grabs your hair while James murmurs apologies and assurances one after the other.
“There we go.” Sirius holds your hair in one hand and rubs between your shoulder blades with the other, his touch cool on your hot skin. “Good girl, let it out.”
When you’re done Remus brings you straight to the bathroom to brush your teeth, and they all oblige you when you want to change into new pajamas regardless of your current ones being perfectly clean.
“You’re all done.” James takes your still shaky hands once you’re feeling fresh and clean, pulling you back onto the couch and mashing a kiss onto your temple. “Proud of you, sweetheart.”
You harumph, but cuddle up to him. It is nice to be rid of the nausea, and the clamminess of your skin was something you didn’t realize had become so oppressive until it was gone.
“I hope you’re willing to put as much energy into snuggling as you did into making me sick,” you tell him.
Remus pokes you with his foot for being mean, but James does look a bit sheepish as he tugs a blanket around the both of you. “Oh, absolutely. Triple that.”

Pairing: Remus Lupin x fem! Reader
Warnings: NSFW, fingering, praising, remmy being a bit of a meanie but also absolutely lovely, public sex and exhibitionism but not really?,
Synopsis: Remmy fingering you in his bed with curtains drawn while all the boys are in the dorm as well, so you better be quiet, don’t you?
A/n: it’s my birthday today!!!🥳🎂 happy bday to me and have this lil treat<3 I really hope you like this lil thing
You and Remus were huddled up on his soft bed, numerous blankets and duvets are scattered everywhere, keeping two of you warm and comfy. Thick heavy curtains were drawn all around the bed, painting everything inside their confines deep scarlet, securely concealing both of you from the noise and havoc that usually reigned in boys’ dormitories.
You were laying on your sides facing each other, your leg thrown over Remus’ hips, head laying comfortably on his shoulder. His arm, that you were laying on, was curled protectively around your shoulders, big warm hand rubbing your back up and down soothingly.
You couldn’t help a small whimper that escaped your lips, but, thankfully, James was wailing so loudly about a new rare card that he got in chocolate frog that his booming voice successfully concealed all of your small sounds. Remus’ fingers kept sliding in and out of your drenched with slick pussy, thumb nudging swollen needy clit persistently, making you shake and writhe around in his arms.
- Now, pretty girl, I told you to be quiet. This time we got lucky, but we don’t want boys to hear what a little slutty thing you are, do we? - Remus murmured softly, his voice low so that only you can hear him. He pressed his lips against the heated skin of your forehead, leaving a chaste kiss there.
You only buried your face into the cozy crook of Remus’ shoulder, his comforting scent hit your nose - he smelled of fresh laundry, fluffy blankets and something sweet that you couldn’t quite decipher - he smelled like home. You wrapped your arms tighter around his neck, bringing yourself even closer to his hot body.
- Spread your legs a bit wider for me… yeah, just like that. Such a smart little thing, aren’t you? - Remus cooed against your ear as you readjusted your position a bit, sliding your leg higher up boy’s torso, increasing by that the gap between your thighs.
You smiled at his praise, leaving a few wet kisses on the side of his neck, nibbling gently on soft skin there but not enough to leave a mark, knowing how much boy disliked that. You could barely contain a moan as Remus increased the speed of his fingers fucking into you, new angle allowed him to reach even deeper inside. Your moth fell open in a silent moan, eyes shutting tightly and you heard Sirius’ roaring laughter and some repetitive hollow thudding, assuming that James and Peter must have started a vicious pillow fight.
Remus’ fingers curled a bit, massaging your frontal wall oh so deliciously, making you jolt harshly at pleasurable feeling.
- Easy, doll. I’ve got you, - Remus tutted into your hair, you could practically hear that well-known shit-eating grin in his voice.
The new positioning of his fingers allowed Remus to strokes you in all the right spots, you felt your orgasm nearing rapidly, heavy pleasure spilling in the bottom of your stomach. You leaned closer into your boyfriend, your hips moving ever so slightly in tandem with his fingers, trying to intensify the feeling.
- Remmy, ‘m really close, - you mewled weakly, words muffled because of your face squished against boy’s warm chest.
- I know, baby, just let it go. C’mon, cum on my fingers, make me proud, - Remus encouraged, his voice was dripping honey, which, doubled with his constant praise and nimble fingers fucking into you so good, sent you right over the edge.
Your eyes rolled back at the intense feeling of raw pleasure spreading through your body in crashing waves, white stars filled your vision. Your hands were grabbing desperately onto Remus’ soft sweater, teeth sank into your bottom lip, trying your hardest to suppress all of sweet moans and cries.
Remus rode out your orgasm, never stopping to fuck his long fingers into your sweet pussy, his other hand rubbing your back and shoulders, whispering sweet nothing into your flushed ear. He only stopped when you started wriggling your hips, trying to get away from his now painful caressing against your overstimulated sex.
He carefully pulled his fingers out, bringing them up to his face and burying his sticky with your slick digits in his warm mouth, sucking and lapping at your juices with immense pleasure. You flushed deeply, smacking Remus’ chest playfully and muttering quiet ‘pervert’ under your breath, causing boy to chuckle airily. He put his now clean fingers away from his mouth, leaning forward to slant his wet lips over yours, kissing you long and lazily, completely taking your breath away.
You broke off first, silver string of saliva was connecting your mouths, Remus eyes shining prettily in a dim light. Your shaky hand came to tuck a string of his soft sandy hair behind his pierced ear, thumb caressing chiseled cheekbone affectionately. Remus leaned in to place yet another kiss on your pretty lips but was stopped half-way by loud cracking sound and heavy cussing:
- Holy fucking shit, Prongs! McGonagall’s gonna fucking skin us alive for this! - Sirius’ panicked, but still more excited voice shrieked, you rushed to put your underwear and pajama pants back on before peeking your head out of crimson curtains, curious to see what had happened.
In the center of a room James, Sirius and Peter were all standing looking extremely disheveled and panting heavily, pillows clutched tightly in their hands. They all were staring at the floor where you spotted a huge hole a size of a quaffle, loud ‘what the fuck’ coming from the inhabitants of a room below. You heard Remus groan behind you, string of heavy expletives rolling off his tongue as he scrambled out of bed, racking his brain for possible ways to fix the breakage without teachers being involved.
James caught your eyes, shrugging silently, keeping unnaturally quiet, not wanting to get on Remus’ nerves when he was so angry. Sirius standing beside him could barely suppress his laughter, clutching his pillow to his chest in attempt to ground himself in any way possible. Peter’s face was completely blank, eyes wandering all around the dorm as if nothing ever happened, swaying from side to side lightly.
At the end of a day, they managed to fix the hole in the floor and all three of them got a smack on the back of the head from extremely querulous Remus.

Tumblr media
Remus Lupin was always a crude, scruffy boy. Ever since she’d met him, he’d been nothing but trouble. It started with the pranks. Remus Lupin and his moronic Gryffindor companions had become notorious for their practical jokes within the first few years of Hogwarts. It was nothing necessarily harmful: enchanting quills to scribble on sleeping students' faces or swapping out pumpkin juice for polyjuice potion. They were always annoying, but never intrusive to her specifically. Until the end of fourth year.
She prided herself on being one of the brightest witches of her age, receiving praise from McGonnagle and Slughorn themselves. It was only natural to assume she'd ranked somewhere in the top five in each year's final exams. There was an ease to her step when she walked to the board outside the square where each fourth year's marks had been posted. Though there was a crowd of both horrified and excited children, she pushed through to look at the list. Her eyes moved to the top immediately, gently combing through the list until...
In that moment, she died.
She found her name next to an emboldened number six, and the name above? Lupin, Remus John. Her mouth was dry in an instant, all the moisture having been sucked from her tongue to her eyes. As if the colossal failure along with its physical repercussions wasn't enough, Sirius Black, one of said moronic Gryffindors, had popped up next to her for a look at the board.
"Would you look at that, Moons!" His ecstatic tone sent a wave of bile up her throat, "You're in the top five!"
"Piss off." She heard his gruff voice respond.
"I'm serious! You're up here!"
That was about all she could take. She pushed through the crowd, ignoring the hisses of annoyance and the calls of 'what the hell's her problem?' Hot, salty tears filled her eyes as she stomped from the square. Something like this would never happen again, she would make sure of it.
Thus, the rivalry was born.
Remus never truly knew how he'd suddenly gained an enemy the next year. He didn't know her well - she was just a girl in his year, not one he'd ever talked to or singled out. Yet, there was a newfound aggression she held towards him that unleashed itself within the classroom. If he began to raise his hand to answer a question, hers would shoot up with no hesitation before his fingers were as high as his head. He thought she was just eager and he was just slow until it happened in every class they had together for two weeks.
Then, in the library, she would casually pluck the books he would reach for. It was a nuisance, truly, and more than that, he received an A on a paper he could've received an O on if he'd just had the books he needed. It was then he accepted that this was not a random occurrence, this girl truly had some sort of vendetta against him, and he needed to retaliate. Returning to his dorm after collecting his graded paper, he immediately sought to design a prank to put an end to this one-sided war. However, within minutes of planning it, an idea occurred to him: maybe he'd started it all, or Sirius, or James, or Peter. Perhaps she'd been fodder in one of their pranks, and in turn was the one getting her revenge.
Remus was not an unreasonable man. Unlike Sirius (who would've pulled something far worse than a practical joke on her), he could deal with this situation with something much less drastic: a conversation.
He found her the next day tucked away in the library. She was at a table near the back where there were more cobwebs than books. He approached her with the same caution someone might lend to a venomous snake or feral cat. Slow, steady steps led him to her chair, where he introduced his presence with an awkward cough.
"Hi," he spoke, tone unwavering. She, whose eyes had been gliding along the pages of a book, looked up at him with an uninterested gaze. He stood still for a moment before letting out a sigh.
"I'm sorry, alright?" He huffed, though he wasn't sure what his was sorry for.
"Sorry?" She raised a brow in what seemed to be genuine intrigue.
"Yeah, y'know," he gently scraped the edge of his boot against the table leg, "For whatever I did. Or we did. Whatever bit of fun we had that's got you so miffed with me."
All at once, her quirked brow and sense of interest dissipated, replaced by a hard scowl. Quickly, she began packing away her belongings, not caring to spare him a glance.
"What?" There was a sense of annoyance in her voice, "I was apologizing."
"Mhm," she hummed, zipping her bag. Before she left, she met his eyes with a piercing gaze, "I heard about that A you got, Lupin. Try a little harder next time, will you?" With that, she left the library and a partly-dumbfounded, partly-pissed Remus.
His initial reaction was to fight fire with fire: if she wanted to be a prick, he'd show her how low he could get. He stomped through the castle, steam blowing from his ears. His face was twisted into one of rage when he slammed his dorm door shut, immediately alerting his roommates.
"'Bloody hell's wrong with you?" Sirius immediately perked up from the upside-down position he had on his bed. Remus, more than ready to respond, opened his mouth only to find that no words would come out.
I heard about that A you got, Lupin. Try a little harder next time, will you?
That remark, her book sabotage, the amount of times she'd overshadowed him in class. This hatred towards him was personal, and it had to do something with his marks. He had been doing quite well recently, especially with coming up in the top five of last year's final exams. A wicked smile crossed his lips as he slowly slid his bag from his shoulders.
"Nothin'," Remus shook his head, walking to his desk, "Nothin's wrong at all."
"That was concerning, that face you made – did anyone else see that? James?" Sirius glanced around the room to see James far too invested with his Walkman and Frank and Peter half asleep in their beds.
"Trust me, Pads, I'm perfect," he shot Sirius a grin.
Next week, there a new paper was assigned in Defense Against the Dark Arts, a class he and his new sworn enemy shared. Instead of visiting the library in the afternoon as he always had, he would go during early mornings. Yawning, he fought the urge to resume his slumber on his table as he scribbled down notes upon notes of research. He got quicker, too, learning to raise his hand faster than she could ever dream of. Sure, sometimes he didn't know the answer to the question being asked, but he was quicker than her, and that's all that mattered.
A month later, when the DADA essays were now graded and redistributed to the students, he found a large red O at the top left of his paper. A wild, toothy smile adorned his lips as he looked down at the letter. The class had ended, but most of the students were there, pouring over the grades they'd received. Remus eyed the room for a moment before finding her at a table a few seats behind him. He stood, leaving Sirius, his desk partner, to tap his nails against his paper marked with the words 'See me after class!'
Remus was stealthy, making his way to her with the slow, collected steps he'd used before. Only this time there was no caution: he was decisive, cool. He sneaked a look at her paper, catching a glimpse of a red E. Looking back to her face, he noticed the gentle, pretty smile spread on her lips, but quickly shook his head.
"Nice work," he hummed, asserting himself. She looked to him with that same uninterested gaze he'd seen before. At that, his smirk grew tenfold.
"Maybe try harder next time, though, yeah?" He held up his paper. She couldn't even try to hide the shock, her jaw falling immediately to reflect to O on his paper. Without a word, he turned and slid out of the classroom.
Though it seemed like a done deal, this rivalry carried on for years. It went from a silent challenge to an increasingly public feud, which included spats in the Great Hall and fiercely whispered arguments in the library. It only worsened when they each became Prefects: their new privileges allowed even more room for one-upping. At some point, all of Hogwarts either knew of or had experienced their shared wrath. Opinions on the quarrel varied.
"She's fit," Sirius had said one afternoon in sixth year, "Nice bum. Maybe a good snog would set you both straight."
"Have you ever talked to her?" Lily Evans asked during a study session with Remus, "Try reasoning?"
"Fight the power!" James screamed, half drunk, half high at a party.
By seventh year, it seemed as though there was nothing that could be done. They hated each other, and that was that.
It was late November when Remus had Prefect rounds. Frost covered the edges of the windows he passed, and he wondered if it was he or the snow outside that had caused it. It was pure chance that drove him towards the library. He just wanted to stop there for a moment of silence before returning to his dorm. Of course, he had his silence in the empty hallways, but he chose to ignore that in favor of inhaling the scent of old books.
He entered the library, walking through a few shelves and mindlessly trailing his thumb along book spines. It was dark, but his wand provided a good bit of light to see ahead of him. He turned to leave when a noise pricked his ears: a loud thud in the back of the library.
Remus was on high alert as he rushed back to where the sound had come from. It was likely nothing more than a few first years sneaking out or a couple trying to get in a late night snog, but he still held his wand at the ready. What he did not expect to see upon turning the corner was his mortal enemy crouched over fallen books.
"What the hell are y'doing?" He spoke, his voice not nearly as quiet as he'd hoped. Her head shot up immediately before bowing with a hiss due to the light of his wand.
"Get that bloody light out of my face, you ass," she huffed, setting the books back down on the table. It was as though she was fully set up for a study session: books, parchment, quills, and the warm glow of a candle. He studied the scene with furrowed brows.
"You shouldn't be in the library, it's past curfew," he said in a sharp tone. Another look at the girl led him to (hesitantly) soften up his gaze. Under the white light of his wand, he could clearly see the marks of exhaustion left on her face, the very ones he saw in himself at the mirror. He settled himself in the space between her table and an empty one behind him.
"Past hours? Really now?" She shot back in a sarcastic tone. Remus huffed.
"You should be sleeping," he grumbled out.
"And you should be up?" She rolled her eyes, "Go on, leave me alone. I have work to do."
"What kind of git stays up late to work?" He said, ignoring that fact that he was absolutely that kind of git, "Get to bed."
The words didn't seem to pierce her, as she turned back to her book, unaffected. He stared down at her seated form, unsure of what to do. A cough (disguised as a groan) left him, and he decided to push a bit more. He leaned towards the table to pick up a book.
"What are you even–”
"Stop," she snapped. In a flash she stood and swiped the book from his hands. They were both on their feet now, their feet within centimeters of each other.
"You should sleep," he repeated with a clenched jaw.
"And what do you care?" She griped.
"You're a student out past hours, and I'm a Prefect," he said in a tight voice.
"Prefect? I'm a Prefect, you dunce," she scoffed, waving her hand in an irritated manner, "Just shut it and-"
"Don't tell me to shut it." The interruption was accompanied by a grip on her wrist. The sudden physical contact was a surprise to both of them. Even more surprising was the fact that she hadn't yet snagged her hand back.
"There would be no need to tell you to shut it if you didn't keep your ugly mouth closed," she hissed, her tone far louder than what was considered appropriate for a library. The silence was thick between them. His fingers burned her skin from the heat he radiated.
Remus didn't know what it was that made him do it. Sleep deprivation, frustration, rage, bashful horniness from the way he was yelled at. Whatever it may be, he unclasped her wrist only to capture her jaw and smash his lips to hers in an angry kiss. It wasn't pretty, and it wasn't gentle, and he nearly pulled away when he realized what he'd done only to feel her hands grip his hair, pulling him impossibly closer.
It was unabashedly ugly the way they kissed. Open mouths and gnashing teeth, more wrath and bite than the result of a tender love love confession. Remus had entirely forgotten there was a table behind him until her hands met his chest and pushed him back, knocking him onto the solid wood surface.
He was taller, but in this moment, she was above him, biting his lower lip and pulling his hair with total disregard to how it may hurt him. This action ripped a deep groan from his throat as wave of sweet pain washed over his scalp. His sudden vocalization sent her flying back with wide eyes.
"What are we doing?" She said through heavy breaths.
"You wanna stop?" He spoke, equally breathless. Her immediate reaction was to say 'no,' which scared her into stunned silence. Remus took this lapse to quickly stand to his full height and push her back towards her table. His lips were back on hers as he carelessly slid her belongings to the ground. He had just enough clarity to move the candle with a bit more diligence, setting it down on the table in front of hers.
Finding herself trapped snuggly between Remus and the wood, she hopped up to sit on the table. This new position seemed to suit Remus as well, seeing as he slotted himself directly between her open legs. His lips descended from her mouth to her jaw. He lost himself in her gasps as he nipped and sucked at her skin, though, he wasn't lost enough to ignore the way her hips jolted into his when sunk his teeth into the junction where her jaw met her neck.
His hands slid further down, testing the boundaries below the waist. His callused fingers pulled up the edge of her sweater to find the band of her jeans. Despite the way he was hungrily eating away at her flesh, his hands were hit a stagnant pace.
"God, you're always so slow," she growled, smacking his hands out of the way to undo the button of her jeans. She expected some sort of quip in return, maybe even a harsh bite on her neck, but there was nothing. Remus was silent except for his breathing, yet, his eyes shown a different story. The candlelight reflecting against his pupils created tiny fires encased by a ring of hazel. He removed his lips but not his body, keeping her pressed to the table as his licked the fingers of his right hand. He shoved past her loosened jeans and panties to find her pussy, already a bit wet. She gasped, but he quickly used his other hand to clamp her mouth shut.
“Slow enough for you?” He whispered against the shell of her ear as one finger lightly dipped past her entrance. He was achingly slow yet deliberate, pushing his finger in before letting it recede. She moaned into his palm against her will at the pace. Her hands moved to grab his wrist, but somehow, he was quicker. He moved from her mouth to clasp her hands and slam them down on the table behind her, causing her to slide backwards and him to gain more control on top of her.
“Oh, too slow?” He asked in mocking tone. In an instant, his fingers had gone from feather-light strokes to quick pumps, fucking her entrance without any of the gentleness he’d given before. The sudden speed with which he'd changed his pace caused his other hand to slacken his grip on her restraint, and one of her hands slipped to hold onto his shoulder.
"Fuck, hold on – slow – Remus, please," she gasped out. His fingers hurt, but there was something so delicious about the pain he was giving her, like a bruise you couldn't stop pressing. Remus, hearing her, eased up slightly to a lighter pace, though, he was still moving without an ounce of caution.
With the new pace in place, her hand moved slowly down from his shoulder and towards his abdomen. Finally, she found purchase just under his raggedy belt where a bulge had formed. When she gripped him, a groan left his lips, and his fingers stuttered their movements.
"Merlin, don't cum in your pants." Though she was nearly breathless, her words still held that same edge they always did.
"Fuck you," he rasped as his thumb found her clit. The new sensation sent a shockwave through her, and her hand resurfaced on his bicep. It had only been minutes since he'd started, but, embarrassingly enough, she felt the hot mixture of pain and pleasure tightening in her. Within moments, she couldn't take it anymore, and a half-silent cry escaped her as she came on his fingers. His movements slowed, but never let up entirely.
"Don't cum in your pants next time," he whispered gruffly as his hand slipped away. It was then that she realized that her jeans were still up to her thighs, and Remus never bothered to remove her panties to gain more access. Ignoring the way he'd said 'next time,' she met his eyes.
"Are you gonna blue-ball yourself or get on with it?" She snipped.
"You always have something to say," he shook his head. His fingers, still laced with her release, reached for his belt. Each of them shuffled out of their jeans and undergarments. Remus was quick to shuffle through his discarded pants to find his wallet, which housed a singular crumpled condom. She watched as he tore it open.
"Who's fucking you, Lupin?" She scoffed.
"You, apparently," he replied, slipping the condom over his length. He hated that he was hard as a rock without being touched, but chose to ignore that fact as he lined himself with her entrance.
Remus sunk into her slow, a feeling that caused each of them to hiss at. His hands found her waist as hers found his shoulders. For a moment, they were still: her, sitting at the edge of the table, him, between her legs. Then, he began to move. Slow, languid strokes to the rhythm of something a little more tender than what they were doing.
"You fuck like a grandpa," she huffed against his shoulder. Truth be told, she actually quite liked the pace he'd set. It wasn't as if she could let him know that, though.
"Merlin, you talk too much," he groaned in reply. Half-angered and half-turned on by her words, he immediately assumed a quicker pace. It was a fast ramp up from tender love-making to hateful fucking that had them both gasping for air. He thrust into her without regard for any of her pleasure, choosing to chase his own high. In return, she met him halfway, returning his vigor with just as much urgency.
Though they both still had their sweaters on, their grips on each other threatened to wear the material. Her nails dug past the woven fabric to prick his skin, and the pads of his fingers pressed harsh marks into her waist. The speed at which they were moving drove Remus further to the edge, and after a while, he was biting back whimpers. Sensing this, she licked her lips.
"I'm not even close," she spoke, though, her breathless voice partially betrayed her. Remus, however, couldn't care less whether she was bluffing or not. His hand slipped from her waist to find where they met. Like before, his thumb rubbed circles against her clit, causing her to clench around his length. This new feeling was the straw that broke the camels back, and each of them came undone, letting out simultaneous moans of pleasure.
Remus gave a few more weak thrusts before the sensation became too much and he chose to stand still, heaving hot breaths into the crook of her neck. They were both still in the wake of what they'd done. Clarity washed over them, and eventually he pulled out.
They silently gathered themselves. He moved away from her and tied off the condom while she located and pulled up her partially wet panties. The only sounds that accompanied them were heavy breaths and zippers.
"We shouldn't have been so loud," she spoke as she gathered her books into her bag, "It's a bloody library, someone could've easily caught us."
"You shouldn't have been in the library in the first place," he huffed in return. Under the light of the still-burning candle, Remus noticed a splotch of wetness at the edge of the table. Moving his sleeve past his palm, he wiped the spot down.
"Ew," her brows furrowed as she looked at him with disgust.
"I was just inside you, you can't say 'ew' to that," he rolled his eyes at her. She opened her mouth to respond, but instead, shifted her weight. A sigh left her lips.
"We should leave separately," she spoke quietly, "You go ahead first."
"Oh, so you can stay in the library past hour?" He raised a brow.
"You're one to talk! All you do is cause problems, and–" she stopped herself with a deep inhale, "Just leave first, yeah? You're probably supposed to be back by now, Prefect rounds don't last this long." While he wanted to argue, he instead let out a huff and whispered a quick lumos to light the end of his wand. With a final glance back at her, he left, quickly making his way out of the library and to the halls. As he walked, he finally had a moment to realize what they'd just done.
What in hell was that? He calmed himself by looking at the facts. Fact: he hated her. Fact: she hated him. Fact: that was the best sex he'd ever had. Fact: he wanted to do it again.
He swallowed hard as he stepped through the portrait of the Fat Lady and into the Gryffindor common room. His movements were robotic: first, going to the washroom to clean up and dispose of the condom still in his possession, second, moving to his dorm room to not sleep. He slipped into the room quietly to find each of his roommates asleep. Relief flooded him as he slipped his sweater over his head.
"You're late." A voice startled him so bad that he nearly threw his sweater. Gulping, he scanned the room to find Sirius partially propped up. His black hair was a mess, and it seemed as though he was only half awake.
"Yeah, uh," Remus finished changing and slipped into his bed, "A few first years were out. Causing trouble, y'know, the usual."
"I thought maybe you'd ran into Y/n, got into a late-night screaming match," Sirius giggled. The mention of her name caused him to tense, but he tried his best to laugh along with the joke.
"No, no Y/n," he lied through his teeth.
"Y'know," Sirius sat up a bit more, "You two should just shag and get it over with. I bet–”
"Goodnight, Pads," Remus interrupted him quickly.
"Fine, fine, don't shag," he shrugged, laying back down, "Never know."
Though he tried to fight it, a small grin stretched across his lips. Remus knew very well.

sexy habits they have.
you can read my new remus fic here and my snape fic here.
sirius black:
Tumblr media
nods his head while looking down at your lips when you’re explaining something to him.
when you’re laying down with him he hums while listening to you talk, one of his fingers stroking your thigh.
if you’re sitting in front of him but you’re not close enough to his liking he will hook his foot around one of the legs of the chair and drag you towards him.
he always calls you by your full name, of course he sometimes uses nicknames or pet names but he prefers saying your name properly.
if he’s trying to show you something but you’re not paying attention he will grab the back of your head and make you look at him. gently of course.
says “oh?” when you tell him about something that’s upsetting you. it’s hot because he crouches down a little to look at you in the eyes, he then repeats “oh?”
he likes to stare at you while you’re doing your hair, head resting on his hand and a smirk on his face. you don’t know what’s going through his head.
if you braid your hair he will grab one of the braids and hold it between his fingers and look at it while you talk.
“so smart, my girl.”
remus lupin:
(sorry for the spicy gift i just HAD to add it, remus is my weakness)
Tumblr media
he always notices when you add something new to your hair. it could be a new headband, new hair clips or anything like that.
when he is really interested in what you’re saying he will rest his arm behind your head on the sofa, his brows furrowed.
he is the type to brace himself against the doorframe.
he blinks a little slower when he is trying to show you he cares about what you’re telling him.
acts of service. acts of service. acts of service!!!!!!!!!
he never lets you cook.
always offers to help brush your hair and he will sometimes pretends your brush got stuck in your hair just so he can pull it a little, you know he’s doing it on purpose because you hear him giggle every time.
when you’re sitting in the common room he likes to sneak behind you and sit on the back rest of the couch so you’re left in between his open legs.
“you smell just as pretty as you look.”.
peter pettigrew:
Tumblr media
although he hates PDA he always makes sure to be touching some part of your body if you’re sitting next to each other, it can be your shoulder, your pinky, etc.
without thinking he rolls his sleeves and sighs when something is on his mind.
sometimes he lets you talk and talk for what feels like hours until he shuts you up by planting a fat kiss on your lips, he is too polite to tell you to shut up.
being around the other three can be quite overwhelming for anyone even peter so at the end of the day when he sneaks into your room he sits down on your bed and once again lets a sigh escape his mouth while stretching his neck side to side, his eyes closed.
sometimes he just stares at you without saying anything, if it was anyone else looking at you like that you’d think he was angry but he couldn’t be angry or annoyed because soon enough he whispers “come give me a kiss, yeah?”
contrary to his reputation as the skittish more weak willed member of the marauders he tends to be quite assertive when talking to you. he seems to always know what he wants.
staring is a peter thing. in the middle of making out he will pull back and grab your face not letting you move just to… stare at you?
“you’re not going anywhere right? stay with me always yeah?”
James Potter:
Tumblr media
oh the antics. he waits for you right outside the great hall to spin you around and drop you (just to catch you before you fall) and kiss you in front of everyone. don’t deny it, it gives you an ego boost.
it is james potter after all.
he likes to show off his strength even if you claim it gives you second hand embarrassment.
he puts your hands on his face because he can’t seem to get enough of your touch. he would live under your skin if he could.
jealousy. he gets jealous very easily. you were polite to snape? he refuses to look at you all throughout dinner. you touched hands with the nice hufflepuff boy? he doesn’t want to hold your hand for at least the next two days. oh and when he is jealous he pouts.
he thinks of himself as a human chair. in the confines of his room the only place he’ll let you sit on is his lap.
he tends to gasp a lot when you’re both making out. HE IS NOISY!!!!!!
“i would marry you right now if child marriage wasn’t against the law, i swear.”

it is to be noted that remus, resignedly, accepted it was only a matter of time before james got hospitalized for his recklessness.
now, with sirius and peter on either side of him, they wait for james to gain consciousness from his surgical procedure. it was a minor one, hardly one that needed 24/7 surveillance that sirius begged him to be a part of nor is the blubbering phone call from peter about james dying. the doctors even said he could be discharged the same day, if he woke up within the hour or so.
but remus is nothing but a people-pleaser. so, he stayed to watch over james as sirius requested and comforted peter that their loud, obnoxious (/fond) friend will wake up soon.
the room ridiculously quiet, a word rarely used as an adjective if they were involved, but it was. the only sound in the room, is the constant slow stream of the heart monitor and james’ soft breathing. remus can attribute this peace that the unnecessarily frantic and ballistic duo has now gone to sleep on the hospital’s stiff couch.
your head poked in first through the curtain before offering the gentlest smile and a silent request for you to come closer. you had been nothing but kind and attentive, to the point you were somewhat spoiling his overdramatic friends and their bemoaning about death and pain.
acknowledging their concerns with facts, reassurances, and empathic smiles. though he couldn’t miss the twitch of your lips as you try and stop, what remus imagines is a bellowing laughter at their dramatic reactions over james’ “demise.” not that remus blames you if you did let out a little laugh, it was getting theatric for a simple, small, and successful surgery. but he understands that professionalism comes first, such reactions might not be appropriate.
“well, everything seems fine here. your friend should be waking up anytime soon, if he does, don’t hesitate to ring us over so we can have him checked and he can be discharged. but before i leave the room, do you want me to do anything for you, any questions or concerns?” you say, voice gentle and firm
“no, we’re good, thank you.”
you nodded and gave a pretty smile, “okay then.”
you adjusted the curtain to close it fully, giving a stirring james and the sleeping visitors some privacy.
it wasn’t long before james woke up, groaning and stretching as if he had just been napping. albeit, a little delirious still, from the anesthesia no doubt.
he had opened his eyes now, unnaturally drooping and hazed, remus reached over and thwacked sirius and peter on their heads, “james’ awake.” he hums, giving nothing but an innocent looking smile as they glare for their rude awakening.
any sort of complaints from the smack quickly died out when they saw james, crowding over him and hugging him as if he’s been gone for 3 years and not 3 hours.
peter grabs james’ hands and recounts his experience of how he heard the news (from a text). at the same time with sirius exclaiming,
“oh, i’m so relieved you’re alright!” sirius cries, cradling james’ head to his chest, nuzzling through the knotted mass of curls to which remus only rolls his eyes at the theatrics of it all.
leaving remus no choice but to call you back into their section and have him checked for the last time.
“i’m fine,” james rasps, giving a sleepy smile and sluggishly patting both of the melodramatic thespians as comfort.
he looked fine, his hair no doubt knotted, his lips cracked dry but still rosy-cheeked.
when you arrived, sirius and peter have behaved themselves to sit down on the chair beside james’ bed. you slid the curtains fully, letting the light into their area. the fluorescent lights behind your head creating a soft halo as you kindly smile at james.
he looked to be stuck in a dazed trance. eyes still drooping but wider than when he first woke up, mouth slightly open, and body seemed to be frozen in place.
at first, remus thought of this due to the lingering effects of anesthetics but heard james’ heart rate steadily increase in speed.
the beeping machine seemingly louder now than before.
“hello, james. how are you feeling?” you hum, walking to go near him to do your routine check up.
the beeping seem to have picked up in speed as you neared his bed.
remus looked to the others to see if they noticed. the three of them, doing their best to cover their mouths to muffle their laughter.
“..’m fine..” james mumbled, starry-eyed gaze stuck to your face as you check his file and vitals.
“no pain? or headaches? any discomfort?” you ask, jotting down notes.
“jus’ perfect. ” he said, sounding a bit breathless.
the beeping was just going incrementally faster, the nearer you go to him.
you look at the monitor, face looking confused and worried all the same. “is it okay if i touch you? i’m just going to check on something really quick.”
the beeping stops for 2 whole seconds before continuing its raging beats. by now the three boys are having a field day, face red from the silent laughter and disbelief.
his heart literally skipped a beat, what even is this guy really? remus amusedly thinks to himself.
james couldn’t seem to say anything but give a measly nod. you grab your stethoscope, and listened to his raging heartbeat to see if anything was wrong. but james’ heart rate just seemed to have gained more momentum as you gently place your hand on his shoulder.
you move away, and slowly the heart rate slowed down, but still fast enough that you looked at him in slight concern.
“your heart rates a bit fast,” you noted, looking straight at him.
james’, oh sweet james, cheeks bloomed a glowing red and bashfully looked down.
you wrapped the stethoscope around your neck again and gave him a sweet, reassuring smile, “but other than that, everything looks to be in order. i’ll bring over the papers you have to sign and then you guys are free to go.”
when you finally walked away, james heart rate seemed to slow down to the normal speed once more. lolling his head to the side, as he groans in utter embarrassment and self-loathing.
“what is wrong with me?” he groans, cheeks still aflame.
sirius smirks, “your usual weakness to utter babes, that’s what.”
“your heart was going so fast i thought it was going to pop.” peter gushed laughing.
james playing with his starchy blanket, muttering lowly, “you think the pretty nurse heard that?”
the boys snorts out a laugh,
“i think the whole bloody hospital heard it mate,” remus cackled.
you came into view again, attending to another patient checking their vitals. offering the same kind of glowwy smile you gave them not a minute ago.
and because james just loves torturing himself, his gaze lands on you again. the same dazed look, body frozen but his eyes actively following your every move. the boys heard his heart rate—the beeping sounds picking up again.
this time sirius couldn’t stop his bark of laughter, causing you to look over them, curious.
your gaze connecting with james for a solid second.
they heard the monitor give another long pause before resuming its fast beeps. remus shook his head laughing, telling you not to worry.
you give remus a small nod, before looking over at his flustered friend, giving james a smaller, but somehow the sweetest smile you showed all day and abashedly looking away.
and james looking undeniably enamoured by your brief exchange. letting his tongue wet his dry lips as a giddy, rather boyish smile erupts from his face.
hopefully, this doesn’t give james more reason to be reckless and get himself admitted to the hospital more often. but if he does, at least it’ll be a funny story.

hi lovely! can i request trying to pick a horror movie to watch with remus or steve but they keep getting distracted by r? or they keep kissing her so she gets distracted? thank u <33
thank you love ♡ modern au
"You don't like gore, so no Saw." You rub your hand down the length of your legs, warming yourself in the autumn chill. "And I don't like new slashers, so we can forget Totally Killer."
"You're missing out, if James is to be believed," Remus says from just behind you. He must lean down, his voice closer and warmer by your ear when he adds, "but he doesn't have the best taste, bless. You want socks?"
"Come and sit down," you beg.
Remus is one of those guys where you're always pleading with him to slow down. When he gets started, he can't stop. Ever since he caught wind of you being cold he's been closing the windows tight, fiddling with the boiler, and now throwing a blanket over your legs. You pull on his arm until he deigns to sit next to you, immediately pushing your face into his neck. His hair tickles your face, soft brown waves that smell like macadamia oil. His cheek chubs with a smile as he turns in on you.
"What other options are there?"
"The new Pet Sematry," you say into his neck, rubbing your nose on him indulgently. "Uhm… ton of Blumhouse panky."
"Don't be a snob."
"M'not. S'just all a bunch of rubbish." You drag yourself away from him and turn your attention back to the TV, flicking through rows of new autumn movies to the 'Spooky Collection'. "Hocus Pocus 2?"
"No, thanks." Remus ignores what you're up to, bringing a hand to your face to guide your lips to his. You're not expecting it but you give him a little kiss, always happy for one if it's from him.
You're distracted by different possibilities on screen, pausing your half hearted kiss to ask, "What about a horror TV series?"
Remus kisses your cheek while you're busy. His hand skirts down your neck, laying it loving but still on the flat of your chest. "What about whatever you want?" he asks, the cartilage of his nose bending as he kisses, and kisses, hot flashes of affection that work their way to your jaw.
"I don't know what I want, that's the point." You laugh as he kisses under your jaw, a sweet spot he knows to leave well enough alone when you're not already at his mercy. It's too much. "Stop," you chasten.
Remus leans into the sofa, rubbing your kissed skin with the back of his hand. "Yeah, alright. Show me the TV programmes."
The hint of his Welsh accent lays heavy on 'programmes'. You resist the urge to repeat it and scroll down to the shows, all new and unexciting. "We'll have to watch Criminal Minds."
"That's not in the spirit of Halloween."
Remus is looking at you hard. You can feel his gaze on your cheek, and you know he's waiting for permission, or at the very least, wanting to ask for it.
You side eye him. "What's more scary than a serial killer?" you ask. Then, quickly, "Please kiss me again."
"You don't even want me to kiss you," he says.
"I always want you to kiss me–" You squeal as he descends on you, pushing you rough into the cushions. "But you have to pick what we're watching! Okay? I'm sick of always choosing."
"No problem," he says, kissing you smack dab on the lips. "In a minute." His smile begins to take form against yours, kissing and smiling and kissing some more, the colour of his laugh in the exhales of his breath.
"What about… uh…" You shudder as his lips part atop yours and encourage you to part your own, promptly forgetting what you'd been about to suggest as he pushes the taste of a cherry soother into your tongue. His arm wraps around the back of your head with a put upon aggression, hooking you in as he kisses you silly.
You laugh too hard to keep going and pull away, flustered, hands on his pinking cheeks. "Woah, Lupin, I know it's halloween, but if you wouldn't mind holding back your Hannibal-esque urges–"
Remus' turn to laugh, loud and brash as he squeezes another swift kiss to your cheek. He's still laughing as he stands, practically jogging down the hall and into the kitchen, away from his responsibility.
"Where are you going? You haven't picked a film!"
The fridge opens, bottles clinking in the door shelf. "I have to take the fruit strudel out, dove! You pick while I find the cream."
"Cheater," you mutter, fishing for the remote where it's escaped into the crack of the sofa cushions.

beau - @wolfstarmicrofic - word count: 214
Tea with Effie was different. Sirius had never had a mother before. Not in the real sense of the word. Sure, Walburga had birthed him, but he'd been quick to learn that "mother" had more than one meaning, and Walburga was not a true mother to him. When Effie had come into his life, he'd realized what it meant to be a mother, in the sense that being a mother was an action. Something that one constantly did. It was not just a passive label.
So, when he had tea with Effie during Christmas break of his seventh year, he was a bit nervous to tell her about his news. But he should have known that she would already know.
"So. Sirius," she murmured conversationally over her cup. "How's the new beau?"
Sirius choked over his own beverage, shocked that Effie would bring up his new relationship with Remus so lightly. Indeed, his biological family would have raked him over hot coals for just mentioning anything so forbidden.
"Erm…good?" he muttered, still shocked, trying to seem nonchalant, even as he blushed crimson.
But Effie looked into his eyes in the way only a real mother could. "You've never looked happier," she whispered after a moment.
He thought about those words for a long time.

takin' a breath
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
for @strangerfreaks <3 simply put, you love being in love with sirius black. you just never realized other people noticed all that much. | fluff, established relationship, the general idea that love is lovely, 1.8k
No matter how many times you check your watch, the hands don't tick backwards. You're going to be late.
Nothing to be done about it, you suppose. Sirius is always late, anyway, though he'd texted you he was on the train so he might arrive at the bar before you. Your own train slows and the speaker reads out your station in a clipped tone. You step on to the platform and the strangest thing happens -- the air changes, somehow. Like someone is looking at you. In the moment before you turn around you hear your name in a voice you know very well and when you do turn, there he is.
"Were we on the same train?" Sirius asks as people stream past you towards the exit. "I don't think this has ever happened to me before."
"Different cars," you say.
"Fancy that." He holds out his arm once he reaches you and you hook yours through it and head towards the escalators. "You look lovely," he says. "Are we late?"
"Well, you're always late," you remind him. He rolls his eyes. "I meant to be there ten minutes ago." Sirius smooths down the collar of your coat and you allow yourself to admire him.
You never get tired of his face -- he's handsome in an edgy way, a way that makes you look away at first and then draws you back in. You're very familiar with how he looks by now. The slope of his nose, the intense line of his eyebrows and the length of his lashes. His eyes are dark, deep, mysterious. The rings in his nose and his ears stand out, gold against his otherwise dark features, and his hair begs for you to run your fingers through it.
He tolerates your staring. You know he likes it but you're kind enough not to call him out. "Remus texted me that they're all going to be at least a half hour. Bus is stuck in traffic."
You step off the escalator and emerge onto the street, the chill of the fall evening wrapping around you both. You press a bit closer to him. "Guess it's just us for now."
He hums. "How was your day?"
"Nothing of note. You?"
Sirius turns into you a little bit to speak as a truck passes. He smells like tobacco and the spicy cologne you bought him for his birthday. "By lunch I was ready to get out of there."
"You always are."
He's always on the go, your boyfriend, always looking for the next thing. Everyone who knew him before you met tells you the same thing -- he's wild, spontaneous, full of energy, but with you, he seems to become a centered version of himself. Not like you've changed him, not quite, but like he feels it's okay to slow down because you're around. He takes a breath, lets the somewhat permanent scowl settle into something calmer. You feel it too, like being near him is the most natural thing in the world. Puzzle pieces that fit, magnets that snap together, every cliche in the book fits.
The night is quiet, for the most part, so when you finally get to the bar and go inside the noise is a bit jarring. There's music and chatter, the clink of glasses and chairs scraping on the floor as they're pulled to new tables. You head for the bar and unwind your arm from Sirius's. He makes grabby hands so you undo your coat and turn around, shaking it off and into his arms.
"Do you want me to do drinks or find a table?" he asks, breath hot on your cheek as he leans in to ask.
"I'll do drinks," you say. "You got them last time. Do you want the usual?" He nods, squeezes your elbow and heads off to find a table with a wink.
You wait patiently and wonder what you're going to order. Sirius always gets a pint of whatever dark beer they have on tap and you'll take a sip even though you never like it that much. Maybe it's a wine night? Bit weird to get a glass of wine in a bar like this and surely James will tease you for it when he gets here, but it's a bit cold out and it sounds warming --
"Excuse me?" You look around to see if someone's just addressed you and find a girl about your age at your side. Her eyes are bright and her face flushed and she's holding a pint. Clearly she's a bit further along in her night than you are.
"You alright?" you ask her. She nods frantically.
"Was that your boyfriend?" she asks, the words tumbling out of her like she has to ask you or she'll combust.
"Uh, yes," you say. Bit weird, but alright.
"He's so handsome," she says. Her tone is the one that girls use in the bathroom at the club when they compliment each other, like she's so happy for you and wants to share in your good fortune.
You smile. "He is," you agree.
"And the way he looks at you!" She sighs like she's reading from a romance novel. What is she on about? He was beside you for mere minutes.
"He's got a bit of a stare."
The girl shakes her head, a few pieces of her bangs falling in her face. "No, I mean yes, but you guys were just standing here and I looked over and it was like he was..." She waves her hand in the air, her beer sloshing dangerously close to the edges of her glass. "He was orbiting around you, or something. The air was crackling, I swear."
You really should ask what she's having so you can get a glass too, whatever will make you feel her enthusiasm.
She puts her hand on your arm. "It's just so nice," she says. "To see love like that."
Her words take you by surprise. No one has ever articulated your relationship like that, so matter of fact. "Thank you," you tell her genuinely.
She beams at you and then seems to catch sight of her friends, giving your arm a squeeze before darting off into the crowd.
"Alright then," you mutter. "Wow." The bartender finally takes your order and you mull over this kind girl's words as you wait. You've always thought that you and Sirius were well suited. Both of you are quite private, guarded in front of people you don't know but endlessly loyal to those you do. He has always made you feel like a priority even when you've fought. Very early on you realized that he was an all-in kind of guy -- he laid his feelings out and promised you that if you felt the same he'd give you everything he could. And he has, even though you don't need much. His hand on your back, his voice in your ear when you wake, his smile across the room. Just being next to him has always been enough. You've just never known how to articulate it, how this kind of love is everything you've wanted for yourself.
You manage not to spill your drinks as you try to find Sirius. He's gotten a table in the corner that will easily fit your friends once they arrive, but for now you slide into the seat next to him.
He beams at you, a toothy grin that makes him look younger, and puts his hand on your knee under the table. "Thank you, darling," he says.
You lean into his side. "Good table." He takes a sip of his beer and nods his agreement. "A girl at the bar said the strangest thing to me," you blurt out. You don't know how you're going to explain this to him but you want to tell him. You always want to tell him everything.
"Oh?" He's got a bit of a foam mustache but he wipes it before you can.
"She said I had a handsome boyfriend."
Sirius scoffs. "You do." You roll your eyes.
"But she also said that --" you use air quotes -- "it was nice to see a love like ours."
His face goes very soft, almost like the way he looks first thing in the morning when you wake to find him watching you. "Very poetic," he murmurs.
"I don't totally know what she means," you admit. "But it was a nice thing to say. I think she might have been a bit drunk."
"Oh, I know what she means," he says. You raise your eyebrows, telling him to go on. Sirius blinks a few times, scratches the back of his neck. You know him well enough to know that he's nervous, which is a bit rare. He leads with confidence, oozes with it, but he's told you many times one of the things that he never gets tired of is how you can crack that exterior.
"It's like when we're in the same room and everything shifts," he says. "Like tonight. I stepped off the train and knew you were near, you know?"
Oh. "I --yeah," you say softly. You do know. It's like you and Sirius orbit each other, like being near him changes the makeup of the air in a room. Your heart beats in time with his and your very atoms settle when he's near. If you were good with words, if you were a little better at expressing yourself, you'd say that you two are made of the same stuff. Your life before him was great, sure, and by no means were you waiting for him for it to start. But now that he's here, next to you, it's like everything has snapped into focus. It just makes sense.
"I can't believe she noticed, though," he says. His tone is more teasing than sincere now, so you let your own musings fade for now. "I mean, I've barely even touched you! I took your coat! We could have been on a first date!"
"You never touch me that much," you remind him. It's not a scold, it's just how it is. You've never needed to touch him that much. Just his gaze feels like his hands are on you, sometimes. You can always tell when he's looking at you from across the room. Remus once said he was convinced you two could communicate telepathically. You find yourself looking at a doorway moments before Sirius walks through it. He digs out a tissue before you've even felt the tickle in your nose. You can sense each other's distress over the breeze like a bloodhound. It's a bit weird, actually. But you don't know how else to be.
"I can fix that." He winks and slings his arm around your shoulders.
"Don't be annoying." He smacks a kiss to your temple but releases you. You stay close to him, pressed together from shoulder knee. Sirius presses his lips to the shell of your ear and you shiver.
"I love our love, too," he says. What a sap.
thank you for reading <3 reblog, send feedback, general masterlist here!

Just thinking about Sirius trusting reader enough to do his hair :,) or maybe she experiments with putting his hair in curlers/curling it. I could even imagine Sirius owning a Dyson airwrap to have the best blowouts 😭💀
Sirius would 100000% own the dyson air wrap!!! Thanks for requesting, babe!
cw: none
750 words, modern au
You're not sure where Sirius learned his money managing skills from (or if he even has any), but the pleased smile and child-like excitement over his brand new hair dryer is something you refuse to admonish. Though, you're sure even if you tried, you'd fail.
Your boyfriend bounces happily on the balls of his feet, hair sopping wet and plastered to his face. Water droplets seep into his grey shirt but Sirius doesn't seem to care. Not when he's too busy making bedroom eyes at the unopened box on the bathroom counter. He'd been so happy when John Lewis finally had the Dyson Air Wrap back in stock, had dragged you out of bed this morning to drop an easy five hundred quid on it. Your head had spun with the realisation of just how rich your boyfriend actually is.
He's not flashy with his money. Irresponsible, yes. But being there to witness a classic Sirius-Black-Irresponsible-Purchase had really solidified the knowledge that your boyfriend is filthy rich.
"Okay, I'll grab a stool and you set it up." He says, turning to make for the stool that sits under your dressing table.
"Wait, you want me to do it?" You yell after him.
Sirius makes noise everywhere he goes. He's loud and abrasive, jagged around the edges. He loves so loud that it only makes sense his entire personality is the same. There's thumps and grumbles as he bumps into things all the way along the hall, the tell tale sounds of the stool scraping along your freshly painted hallway. "Well who else would do it?" Sirius rounds the corner, flashes his teeth in a wide grin that he knows will make you fold.
"What makes you think I'm qualified?"
Sirius shrugs, "The fact that I'm one hundred percent not. You're good at everything, sweetness."
He knows flattery works like a charm, especially when he pairs it with his best flirty eyes. You sigh, reaching for the box and unravelling all of the corresponding pieces. It's high tech, incredibly high tech. Sirius fidgets on the stool as you watch a video on your phone, lips curled between your teeth in concentration.
It takes a while to get the hang of, and you're sure you'll get better in time. Sirius softens and relaxes as much as he ever allows himself to as your fingers work through his hair, as you brush and comb and dry it. He hums and sighs and even closes his eyes. It's peaceful and intimate and it allows you to come to a startling realisation that Sirius has never asked you to do his hair for him before.
He's not prissy about his hair. He'll let anyone touch it. He actually begs for people to play with his hair. But he's never outright asked you to fix it up for him, prefers to get it sitting perfect by himself because he believes it to be his best asset. You'd have to disagree with him on that. His eyes never fail to amaze you, nor his smile.
"All done." Your voice seems to pull him out of a daydream.
His eyes open and he smiles wide, turning in the stool in an instant until he can take your hands in his. "Bad news, sweetheart, you're going to have to do this every day." He informs you, standing until his hands can reach your hips.
He pulls you into him, a little roughly, but catches you with his own body, lips ducking down to press to your forehead. You resist the urge to tell him you'd be happy to do his hair every day, if only to feel the intimacy and pride of being the one person he trusts to style his hair.
"Such a travesty." You feign indifference, lips pressed to his collar bone where it peeks out of his shirt.
Sirius shivers at the contact. "Easy, sweetness. I know my hair is super hot and stuff, but we have dinner reservations with James and Remus. They'll get pissy if we cancel to have sex."
"Again." He adds after a second.
You scoff, pushing your boyfriend away whilst he barks with laughter. Heat creeps up your neck as you exit the bathroom, ignoring Sirius' shouts down the hallway that he could make an exception for a quickie.
"Thanks, baby!" He calls a moment later.
You can't fight the smile that toys at your lips as you pick out an outfit for dinner.

Sirius Black x Pureblood slytherin!Reader
Summary: Dating a Black was not the problem, the problem was that is Sirius, a known bloodtraitor.
Genre: Hurt/comfort and secret relationship
CW: talks about familiar problems, blood status and arranged marriages
Word count: 1.2K
This is part of my Speak Now (Marauders’ version) collection
Tumblr media
“I run my fingers through your hair and watch the lights go wild. Just keep on keeping your eyes on me, it's just wrong enough to make it feel right”
Sunny days were not common in Hogwarts, the usually humid weather of the Scottish highland made it hard for students to enjoy the large grounds surrounding the school.
Nonetheless, whenever the clouds weren’t pouring rain or blocking the sun you have been finding yourself in the same place for the last year.
You were sitting by the black lake, in a remote spot seldom crowded by students. It was at times like this that you felt genuinely happy, the sun illuminating the lake and the weather hot enough for you to discard your coat. Though you could argue the cozy spring weather was not the main source for your happiness, but the man whose head was resting on your lap, your fingers running through his beautiful dark hair.
You never meant to fall for him, really. He was hotheaded, a pain in the ass, arrogant, a womanizer and everything your parents would hate for you -which was anything but a respected pureblood heir-. Falling for a Black was not the problem, the Black family was a well bred pureblood family, all of them except your boyfriend. Falling for a Black was not the problem, falling for Sirius was.
You both were aware of the implications of the relationship so you did what was the most logical thing, kept it a secret to everyone. At first the secrecy wasn’t that bad, it was even thrilling at points, sneaking out and stolen glances had been fun for a while. Until it wasn’t enough, you wanted to be able to hold his hand in public, or display a little bit more of PDA than appropriate when girls were shamelessly hitting on him.
But if your friends were to find out about your relationship with Sirius it wouldn’t end well, they’d be against it, probably stop talking to you and tell your parents, which would end with you getting disowned or betrothed to one of your cousins to keep the family name clean. And if his friends found out he’d probably be mocked relentlessly for dating what he swore to hate, and maybe his friends would be sceptical of you, or just disapprove entirely of you.
“A penny for your thoughts?” Sirius's voice broke your train of thought and your eyes fell on him.
He looked beautiful, his head resting in your lap and your hands on his hair. His gorgeous grey eyes were filled with concern when he looked at you.
"Sometimes I wonder if this is all worth it, you know, the hiding. Don't you get tired of it?" You asked him, your tone making your boyfriend realize just how serious you were.
Sirius sat upright to be able to look you in the eyes, his thigh touching yours and his hand on top of yours, stroking it lovingly.
“You know I love you right? It doesn’t matter what others think of this, of us.” He said, his free hand gesturing between you two. “I will love you regardless.”
“I know, I love you too, so much.”  you whispered while resting your head on his shoulder, Sirius placed a kiss on your temple. And just like that every single worry you had dissipated.
Oblivious for both of you, another group of students had decided to explore the less visited parts of the school grounds, therefore being aware of the whole exchange.
───✥───
“You are joking right?” James asked, dumbfounded at the news that had just left Remus’ mouth.
“I couldn’t believe it either, apparently Barty and Snape saw them together on the school grounds.” came Remus’ reply.
James and Peter were hanging out in the common room when Remus delivered them the new hearsay that was going on around Hogwarts. As if on cue Sirius appeared in their peripheral vision, skipping down the stairs with a happy whistle and making his way towards them.
When he saw their shocked faces looking up at him he stopped dead in his tracks. “What?” he inquired.
James started on an incomprensible ramble along the words of ‘how, when, why…’ just to be interrupted by Peter. “Are you really dating Y/N? like, the pureblood slytherin Y/N?”
“How do you…?” Sirius' mind was racing, unable to process a single thought, how did they know? Who else knew? Where were you?
“I ran into Lily and Marlene, and they told me that Barty and Snape had seen you two on a date. Everybody knows, rumors fly at hogwarts” Remus explained.
Sirius' worry grew, if everybody knew, that meant your house knew. And if they did it was only a matter of time until your parents got the news. The interrogation that he was going to suffer at the hands of his friends was nothing compared to the reactions you’d get from everyone in Slytherin.
“I need to find her, I’m sorry. I’ll explain everything later, I promise.” Sirius ran from the room, leaving behind three very confused marauders and James shouting “So it’s true?!”
───✥───
He found you outside. The former gentle weather was now replaced with heavy rain.
You were sitting in the same spot of your dates. Sirius heard your sobs before he saw you.
You were drenched by the rain, your hair sticking to your face, your eyes red and swollen from crying.
“Y/N” he spoke softly when he reached your side, his arms pulling you into a hug. “It’s okay, baby.” That made you cry harder and your arms to tighten around him.
“They know Sirius, I can’t go back to the common room, they are going to have my head.” You said in between sobs. As soon as the news had reached the slytherin common room so had the threats, namecalling and hexes. “I’m sure Evan has already sent an owl to my parents, I’m going to get disowned, Siri. I don’t have anywhere to go.”
Sirius could feel your pain through your words, when shit had hit the fan at his home he had the Marauders to have his back. You didn’t have anyone except for him.
“You can sleep in my dorm tonight, don’t go back to yours.” he said while soothing your back.
“Do your friends know?” he nodded. “They hate me, I can’t go to your dorm.” you said, trying to hide your face in his chest.
“Hey, none of that. They don’t hate you, they’ll be surprised, maybe a little bit apprehensive about the whole thing, but they’ll give you a chance, and they are going to love you.” Sirius' voice was assertive, he was trying to reduce your self deprecating thoughts at a minimum.
“What about my parents?” you said, more calmed now, sobs turned into hiccups.
“We are going to figure it out, you and I, together. We’ll find a way.” Sirius' hand came in touch with your face as he tried to dry your tears.
“Okay, yeah you are right. I love you Sirius.”
“I love you too, forever.”
Sirius leaned in for a kiss, soft and filled with love. You wondered then how wrong this was when it just felt so right.

helloooo, i have a request if its possible♡
since we got figure skater! Sirius..... Do you think we could get hockey player! James x figure skater! reader? Maybe they go to the same place but the place where they practice its kinda shitty so its literally kinda like an across the hallway situation where the hockey practice happens on one ice rink and when you leave you can walk thru the ice rink of the figure skaters that its on another section of the place IDK I'M NOT AN ARCHITECT SORRY
BUT THE POINT ITS, that one day James leaves practice later than usual and he's walking to get out but he heards his favorite song playing and he goes to see whats up because its his favorite song ever! and goes to the other ice rink and sees the reader practicing and inmediatly he has the biggest crush ever and its almost dreaming about a house and three kids with that cute girl
idk i think i explained myself like sht but hope you like the idea! cause i think it would be soo cute
Hi lovely, you explained yourself perfectly! Thanks for being so patient with me, I hope this is alright <3
hockey player!James x figure skater!reader ♡ 718 words
James’ entire body is pleasantly sore, and he’s very much looking forward to going home to a nice, hot shower.
“Do you and Moony want to go get breakfast tomorrow morning?” he asks Sirius as they leave the locker room. The two of them had taken longer than usual changing out of their gear, Sirius filling him in on the absolute hell week Remus had at his new job. To hear Sirius talk about it, all the other professors are simply jealous of Remus. James is sure that’s partly true, but he’d bet they need less reason than that. Somehow, James had thought leaving school would mean emerging into a more mature world, but adults seem just as petty as teenagers. Maybe pancakes and a good, uplifting chat would do something to take the sting out of Remus’ first week and help prepare him for the next.
Sirius cuts James a sideways look, gray eyes narrowed. “Breakfast at what time?”
“I was thinking six, six thirty.” Sirius scoffs, and James grins. “Only joking. How’s eleven?”
“Still too early,” Sirius grumbles, “but we’ll go.”
James bobs his head, pleased to have a course of action for helping his friend. “Ask Moons where he feels like going, and just…” He hears a faint, familiar melody. “...just let me know.”
“Sounds good.” Sirius pushes open the door, but James has stopped. He’s looking back towards the rink, intrigued. “Coming?”
James waves him off. “In a bit. See you tomorrow.”
Sirius makes an amused sound, not unused to James’ diversions, and goes.
James follows the sound of his favorite song, unabashed about bopping his head to the beat as he approaches the rink. He knows figure skaters sometimes use the rink after his hockey practice has wrapped up, and he absolutely has to see who’s choreographed a routine to this. He comes to a stop near the edge of the bleachers, and watches through the tempered glass as one lone skater launches into a turn.
This wouldn’t be the track James would have thought of for a figure skating routine, but frankly, you’re doing it justice. Your movements are springy and nimble as you glance across the ice, one complicated-looking move to the next to the next. It seems like both skates are never touching the ground for more than half a second. There’s a lot to be said, probably, about your skill, your technique, but James is a philistine. All he can think about is how pretty you look.
You’re gorgeous. Stunning. Graceful in your movements and seraphim in your countenance. A wisp of hair has freed itself from the confines of the rest and whips about your face, but you don’t seem to notice it, your gaze steady and lips just slightly pursed in concentration.
James would never tell his friends because they’d mock him to hell and back, but he does believe in love at first sight. Only under particular circumstances, though. The sight has to be good enough—meaning, he has to see some aspect of who that person is behind a pretty face. You certainly do have a pretty face, and you’re dancing to his favorite song, and James doesn’t understand how he could ever be expected to not be totally enamored with you after this one spectacular look. He worries that if you glance over, you’ll see him with giant cartoon hearts boinging out of his eyes on springs.
The song ends, and you spin to a stop. James’ breathing stops, too, as your gaze lands on a point not ten feet to his right. He wonders if he’s being creepy. It’s not like this is a private rink, and James wouldn’t be weirded out if he spotted someone watching him running drills or something (actually, if it were you he’d be over the moon about it), but he’s been told not everyone feels like he does about that stuff. And though he hardly thinks of himself as intimidating, James is also a big guy. He wants to woo you, not spook you.
You skate to the edge of the rink to restart your music, and James slips out. He hears it blaring softly behind him, and he probably looks like a total idiot when he grins and dances out the front door. An idiot in love.

okay, another request because you did the last one so much justice. remus and the reader have been dating for a while now. the only thing that upsets him is her lack of communication. so, he takes her upstairs and gets her all hot and bothered, but won't do anything she doesn't explicitly ask for.
aw thank you!! and thank you for requesting!🖤
.
Despite the relationship being fairly new, Remus Lupin adored every single thing about you.
He adored the way your nose scrunched up when you were concentrating on something, or the way you easily flushed after someone complimented you. He adored the way your eyes lit up whenever you got excited, or the way you would eagerly ask him questions when he went on a ramble about something he liked. He adored the way you would always greet him with a kiss, or the way you would say his name like it was the most affectionate word in your vocabulary.
He adored you, but the one thing that bothered Remus was the lack of communication.
It wasn’t a huge thing. You obviously told him how you felt, if you were upset or just feeling a little down. But sometimes, Remus would catch you slipping into old habits. He noticed the way you would shrug off your own feelings for others, how you would go to say something before quickly shutting your mouth, thinking nobody noticed.
But he did. He noticed.
He wanted you to be able to talk freely in your relationship. He wanted you to tell him how you felt, or what you wanted. He wanted you to feel comfortable enough with him that it wasn’t a second thought.
And Remus was all but happy to take those small steps with you.
It had been a few days since he had seen you due to work commitments and general business. With the relationship only being a few months down the line, neither one of you wanted to bush the boundaries too far and come off as clingy. But by the third day, Remus just wanted you in his arms and you were eager to agree to the stay-in date.
You showed up at his apartment, grinning from ear to ear as he opened the door. He gave you one of his hoodies which engulfed you, before leading to the kitchen where you both whipped up a quick dinner. You laughed and smiled and shared a bottle of wine before making your way upstairs to his room, eager to watch some movie he had rented the other day.
The movie captured your attention for a solid ten minutes before Remus was on top of you, one hand in your hair and the other squeezing your waist as he kissed you senseless.
Your clothes were quickly shrugged off, and Remus let his clothes follow the same fate as he kissed and touched and worshipped every single inch of your skin. He missed you more than he cared to admit, and judging by the way you were squirming and wiggling underneath him, he knew you felt the same.
But he wanted to hear you say it.
Your hips bucked against his palm, a needy whine leaving your lips when Remus pulled his fingers away from their attention on your swollen clit. You were soaking, with your thighs slick and your cunt desperate for him.
But Remus wanted to hear you say it.
“Remus,” you whimpered out as he pressed feather-light kisses along the plane of your stomach. “Please.”
“Please what?” he murmured, his eyes darting up as he looked up at you between the messy strands of sandy brown hair.
You reached down, pushing his hair back as the boy settled between your legs. “Please, do something.”
“Do what, love?” he asked, and despite the innocent expression, the glint in his eyes told you that he was enjoying the way you squirmed.
Your cheeks flushed. “You know what.”
“Can’t say I do, baby,” he murmured half-heartedly, placing another chaste kiss on your inner thigh before licking the taste of you off his lips. “Tell me what you want.”
“Remus,” you whined but his hands squeezing your thighs caught his attention.
“I’m not gonna do anything until you tell me what you want, love,” he warned and you knew he was serious. “C’mon now, use that pretty head of yours and tell me what you want.”
“I…” you breathed out, your heart pounding in your chest and something about the situation made you feel embarrassed, even if his presence always made you feel safe. “I want you to touch me.”
He flashed you a lazy grin, squeezing the fat of your thigh. “I am touching you, darling.”
“N-Not like that,” you murmured, shaking your head.
“Then how?”
You let out a shaky breath, your hands trailing down your body until you stopped just above your soaking cunt. “Need you to touch me here please,” you whispered, like it was a secret shared between the two of you. “Wanna feel your tongue here, Remus. It always feels so good.”
His eyes darkened. “Yeah?”
You nodded. “Love it when you make me scream for you.”
And it wasn’t as explicit as he would’ve liked, but it was better. He was pushing your limits, helping you get there slowly even if it meant having you squirm a little until you get there. But it was progress and he was more than happy to reward you for it.
“Atta girl,” he grinned as he wrapped his arms around your thighs, pinning you to the mattress. “That wasn’t so hard, was it?”

Weeks leading up to Christmas break felt like a blur of happy memories. You and your classmates were growing more and more nostalgic over the fact that it's your last Christmas at the castle. The decorations were beautiful as always and everyone's spirits seemed a bit more positive as these were the last weeks before you had to really focus on your exams. You grew closer with more people thanks to your friendship with Sebastian however your favourite  person in the castle was always Remus.
You would meet most evenings sometimes on the bridge but increasingly more often in his office for a cup of tea and to listen to muggle vinyl records. The rule was no alcohol, no touching and no "dear" and sticking to those rules meant your friendship could blossom. It felt like hanging out at a friends house a lot more than being in your professors office. Some nights you would spend the evening with your friends but most nights were unofficially reserved for Remus. He introduced you to some music you've never heard of and you introduced him to some things he's surprisingly not encountered. "What do you mean you haven't heard Cosmic dancer by T.Rex, come on Remus I thought you knew your shit, it's like from your decade." You said laughing sitting on his large office armchair.
"Watch your language young lady. I listened to some amazing shit, I mean this one." He said pulling out a rare Bowie vinyl. "This one has songs you've never heard of girl and that's Bowie." He explained eccentrically.
"Well you don't own a single Smiths vinyl."
"The people who buy Morrissey record are the same as the ones who hate people just because they're muggle born." He said sternly placing his mug down on the desk.
"That's harsh."
"I believe it." He stated without hesitation. Remus had strong opinions when it came to music especially music that he grew up with but it was always fun to share this world of music with him, he felt younger when he spoke about music it's like he was transported back to just being a teen. You'd always leave Remus's office just before curfew but you kept a note in your pocket signed by him saying you're coming back from detention incase anyone stopped you. It was all working, a bit too well.
Snow began to fall two weeks before and as soon as you and your friends saw it you ran outside to celebrate throwing snow balls and acting like kids. You saw Remus speaking to Mcgonagall outside, he wasn't dressed for winter wearing just his classic suit jacket which was slightly too big on him. He looked up at the sky in awe while speaking to her, you could see he was also adoring the surroundings, you caught his eye as you were looking in his direction, you smiled and gave him a wave and he smiled softly back, that was it before someone threw a snow ball at you initiating another round of war. It was nice to be so carefree. You and the Weasleys decided to make your way up to Hogsmeade to experience it in the snow as it was always beautiful covered in snow, you got some hot chocolate and walked through the village. While standing under the three broom sticks with the last few sips of your hot chocolate you felt a snowball hit the back of your head. "Hey! Who was that?" You shouted turning around to see Remus standing there with his hands in his pocket, he looked straight behind him pretending to be confused and pointed with his thumb behind him while the other hand stayed firmly tucked in his pocket. "I think he went that way." His face turned into a smile soon after as he couldn't even fake it not being him.
"Professor you don't know the battle you've started." You said playfully.
"I fought in the Wizard war a bunch of students is nothing." He said and at that very moment he was bombarded with snowballs from every angle curtiste of the Weasley's, you and a little basic magic. Moments like this made you remember how life was okay, you might've spent years hating Hogwarts but Remus helped you see the good in the magical world. Lessons seemed a lot easier in the last few weeks of term, teachers paid less attention to teaching more to enjoying the last few weeks. DADA turned mostly practical with duelling becoming a more common event in class, it was everyone's favourite lessons as it was just fun practicing using spells. Remus would turn on some of those very familiar vinyls, he would always smile and joke around as students attempted different spells. The only thing that ached was not being able to be normal around him, you couldn't tease each other, comment on the songs, it felt like you had a huge secret to hide. You and Remus would always share a quick glance and smile when a particular song came on that was either a inside joke or a recent conversation, it felt like your own little secret and it felt good. No matter how many girls would flirt with him or ask him to hold their arm as they preformed a spell it was you who he couldn't keep his eyes off.
You asked your parents to send you a book and a vinyl for a friend, it was always amusing when muggle post arrived as it was stamped normally and not just bought with an owl. You purchased some Christmas themed wrapping paper in Hogsmeade and began to wrap all the presents you bought for your friends, some smaller than others just a few prank materials for the Weasleys, for Sebastian you got a signed edition of his favourite book and of course for Professor R.J. Lupin it was the most special present. You wrote a dedication in the book for Lupin  "To my dear friend, thank you for showing me that the wizarding world is magical and thank you for all the secret smokes. Hogwarts feels like home with you in it Moony. Yours, Y/N" You were excited to give it to him and see how he reacts. You were worried he'd find you giving him a gift inappropriate or too much but at the same time it felt wrong not to get him something after how close you've grown. You went to his classroom for your usual evening catch up. Drinking tea while he had a record playing and catching up on each others days. Today you were finishing one of your last assignments that was due before the Christmas break for positions obviously because who else would set an assignment so close to Christmas. Remus was doing some marking but also helping you and answering any questions you had. Once you finished your assignment you shut the book and signed in relief, Remus was already done by this point just reading a book waiting for you to finish.
"Where are you spending Christmas this year?" You blurted out while you collected your parchment and put it in your bag.
"I'm considering staying in the castle this year there's not much for me to go home to if I'm being honest." He seemed slightly uncomfortable at the question.
"Where is home?" You asked curiously.
"Yorkshire, small cottage in the middle of nowhere." He looked proud of his home.
"How middle of nowhere? How far is the nearest shop?"
"Probably a forty minute walk if not more and that's just a petrol station garage, the closest village is over an hour away."
"Do you ever get lonely?"
"Sometimes... but it's safer for me to live far from people." He looked away not making eye contact with you as he said the words.
"You're not the monster you think you are. You're too harsh on yourself, you should spend Christmas and new years with friends and family not at work or locked away in your cottage."
He smiled gently. "Where will you be? Staying or going?"
"Going. My parents miss me, and I miss them so no matter how much I would love to spend one last Christmas with friends, family comes first."
"I'm sure Sebastian was devastated to hear that you're leaving." He said in a not too friendly tone
"What? I don't understand why?" You questioned.
"Nothing, besides I'm sure you'll be holding hands by New Year's Eve."
"The only thing I'll be holding on New Year's Eve is the tv remote and a glass of champagne while I watch the fireworks from the comfort of my parents sofa."
"When are you coming back to the castle? When term starts or later?"
"Probably just after new years I'd like the last few days to enjoy it here before exam season kills me."
"That's very wise of you but I'm sure exams won't kill you."
"I still don't know how to cast a partonus Remus."
"I'll help you. I may not be able to keep my promise of ending tutoring before Christmas but if you allow me a few more sessions when you're back I'll make sure you have nothing to worry about when exams start."
"Thank you, I guess you were right that you'll make tutoring fun... a part of me never wants it to end I really do enjoy duelling now."
"That makes me so happy to hear." He replied gently. "When do you leave for home?" He continued.
"Tomorrow after breakfast." You saw and his smile dropped.
"Oh, I didn't realise you were leaving so soon."
"Yeah, I'm picking up shifts at my muggle job to have some muggle money to buy presents with so I decided to take the first train to London. Although I will really miss seeing the castle in the snow."
"I bought too much tea and milk." He said with a sad tone.
"We can drink it when I'm back." You said with fake enthusiasm that wasn't tricking either of you.
"The milk will go off and the tea will dry out waiting for you to come back."
"Sounds like we need to drink a lot of tea tonight." You said lighting the mood.
"Perhaps we do. Now neither of us goes to bed until it's all gone."
"It'll take hours."
"I'm prepared to stay here all night and all day even if it means you'll miss your train tomorrow." He said making the two of you laugh.
"I bought you a present." You changed the topic.
"For me?"
"Who else would it be for if I bought you a present?"
"Hold on, I've gotten you something too." He said standing up and going into the annexed room which was presumably his private quarters. You heard a lot of rummaging around in his room before he came back with two small items wrapped in brown paper. "Do we open them now?" He asked softly.
"Wait until Christmas, so you don't forget about me while I'm gone."
"How could I dear?" His words burned to hear. A moment of silence fell upon the two of you where tension grew and all you did was stare into each others eyes as he broke the rules. After a moment he moved slightly back and cleared his throat. "How will I thank you if you're gone?"
"Write to me." You stated and he nodded gently.
You left soon after as it was getting late, it was hard to leave, you wanted to hug him to thank him for the presents but instead you waved him bye from the doorway. On the train back to London you daydreamed about what could've happened if you stayed in the castle, what would Christmas with Remus look like?
You imagined sitting in front of the fireplace with him, listening to Christmas vinyls and opening presents, how soft he would look in a Christmas jumper. You imagined what it would be like to go walk in the snow drinking a hot toddy or a mulled wine while you explore Hogsmeade on Christmas. The anticipation of what was in the present from him was killing you and you decided to open it on the train breaking your promise of waiting until Christmas. You opened the smaller package first it was a small metal tin for cigarettes with a small drawing of a camel standing on a bridge on the front. You opened the second one and it was a book about muggles in the wizarding world, on the first page Remus had written a small note to you.
"My dearest Y/N,
You've been such a important part of my first year teaching at Hogwarts I wanted to show my gratitude. You are one of the most impressive witches I've ever met and I am so privileged to be able to spend time in your company.
This book was my fathers, I hope you don't mind me giving you something pre-loved however I couldn't find another copy of this book. He used to tell me stories from this book of great muggle born witches and wizards and how they used their abilities to help muggles, I hope it inspires you for the future.
I've also charmed the cigarette box for you so if you say the words "healthy lifestyle" while tapping the front they will become invisible so you won't have to worry about being caught, I'm guessing this will become useful while you're home over Christmas I'm sorry for encouraging your addiction dear.
Once again thank you for all you have done for me this past year, I'll never forget the lake.
Yours, Remus."

requests: “remus on a first date with shy reader?” and “maybe Remus lupin with a plus size reader? just if you’re comfy with it of course! thanks!”
fluffy 🐈 first date
pairing: Remus x reader
tags / description: shy! reader, plus size! reader, anxious! reader, reader insecurities, but these in a somewhat toned down way; sweet and fluffy; first date, first kiss; not proofread, sorry!
word count: 1.9k
Why couldn’t he have asked you out during winter?
You’re standing in front of the mirror, finishing fixing your hair for your date, but you can’t help but keep glancing down. Your arms are bare; your top is loose, but somehow your sides manage to look chubby anyway.
But it was so bloody hot out. You were not going to put yourself through a miserable time just to cover yourself up. Besides, you’d known Remus a while, had mutual friends. He knew what you looked like. And he’d asked you out anyway.
At least, you think he had. You’d been sure in the moment, but afterward, when you started overthinking (and panicking), you’d begun having doubts this was a date. He’d asked you to “hang out” on Saturday, but he had clarified that he meant just the two of you. You’d been too shy to ask any further questions.
You try to exhale the negative thoughts away, and right as you go to check the time, you hear a knock at your door. Your stomach drops — whether in nerves or excitement, you’re not sure. When you open it, Remus’s brilliant smile intensifies the feeling. “Hi.”
“Hi,” you whisper back. You step out of your place but trip on the threshold. Remus quickly catches you, one of his arms snaking around your middle.
“You okay?” he chuckles gently. His hand lingers on your side even after you’re steady, and the self-consciousness butterflies war with the lovestruck ones.
You’re mortified at how quickly you’d managed to be awkward. Your cheeks burn, and you wish desperately you could hit a reset button like you did the many times you imagined this scenario in your head.
“‘M fine. Sorry,” you smile shyly, unable to look him in the eyes.
“’S alright.” He sounds kind, at ease. “You ready?”
You nod and follow him outside. As soon as the hot sun hits you, you’re grateful for your outfit. There’d been too many other times you’d endured the heat instead, and you’re glad with your progress of loving and taking care of yourself as you are. Without thinking, you smile at yourself at the thought. You’re startled by Remus’s chuckle next to you. His eyes on you burn more than the summer weather.
“What?” you manage.
“Nothing,” he shakes his head, smiling all the while, “that smile was just adorable is all. I’d love to know what’s going on in your head to make you smile like that.”
Ironically, this completely erases your smile. You know it’s impossible, know he’s trying to be sweet; but even still, the embarrassment is overwhelming.
“What?” You hear the new tension in his voice. “Did I say something wrong?”
“No, no, sorry, I - I just,” you wince at your awkwardness, “I’m just being stupid.”
“Don’t say that.” Gently, playfully, he bumps your shoulder with his. “You’re great.”
“Thanks,” you respond, but you sound sarcastic. “You are,” he repeats.
You’re tense but smiling when you ask, “So where are we going?” “It’s a surprise,” he chuckles. “It’s kind of weird. But I saw it and thought of you. Not that you’re weird! I mean, you’re weird in a special way. I mean, I think it’ll be fun. For you. For me as well! Just getting to hang out with you is fun for me, obviously,” he rambles quickly, cringing at the end.
There it is again: “hang out.” What did that mean?
At your silence, he goes on, “Fuck, sorry, I’m just a bit nervous, you know?” He laughs mirthlessly. “You’re nervous?” you reply before you can think about it. “Why would you be nervous? I’m the one who should be freaking out. And am, by the way.”
“Oh, and you have a monopoly on first date nerves, do you?” he shoots back playfully.
“So this is a date?”  Again, it’s out of your mouth before you really realize what you’re saying, and when you do, you’re terrified you’ve asked. His eyes wide, his hand messing with his hair, he replies, “Of course.” Then after a beat, “I mean, I thought it was. If you want it to be, that is…”
“I do!” Too loud. Shit. “I do,” much softer.
“It’s a date then,” he concludes, smiling. You nod.
Your walking together eases your nerves as you go. Something about the motion, the not having to look at him directly, brings you solace. You’re already worrying about how that’ll change when you reach your destination, but you try to push that away and enjoy the easy chat along the way.
You love talking to Remus… which is saying a lot. People make you nervous. And Remus isn’t just people. He’s smart, kind, funny, attentive, unreasonably attractive people. But something about the way he listens assuages your anxiety rather than exacerbates it. He makes you feel heard and seen. But never in a way that makes you feel judged. And you love hearing what he has to say in return. Conversation with Remus could be so many things: fun, thought-provoking, surprising, comforting… but never upsetting.
He turns off the high street into a cute side street and stops in front of a surprising establishment. It’s a café. A cat café.
He looks nervous as he watches for your reaction. Maybe he can’t read it, because he starts another nervous ramble: “We can go somewhere else if you’re not into it. I just thought, well, you know, I know you like cats. And coffee. And not so much talking to people. So, if you got nervous, you could just pet the cats or something. I don’t know. Maybe it was stupid, I just —”
“I love it,” you interrupt. “You do?” The relief plasters itself across his face.
“I love it,” you repeat, laughing now. “You’re right. About all that. Everything you just said. And you’re the most thoughtful person I’ve ever met for thinking it.” Your warm smile comes easily now, and the adoring one he gives you in return makes you shyly look away.
He grabs your hand and walks in.
The place is shockingly cosy yet spacious. And crawling with cats. A friendly black cat rubs itself against your leg, and you can’t think of a possibly better first date.
The seats are ridiculously comfortable, and only a couple of minutes in, an adorable ragdoll sitting near you lets you coax him into your lap. He’s incredibly soft, and his purring makes you feel at ease.
Remus smiles at you, watching you pet the cat, never demanding more attention, but always easily continuing the conversation. He tells you stories, listens to yours, asks you questions, and all the while giggles at the cats’ antics and cuteness.
He stops petting the cat lounging next to him to take a sip of his tea, and she scolds him, rubbing her head aggressively on his leg. Remus laughs and obliges, and the responding purrs warm your heart.
“She likes you,” you say. “Yeah,” he smiles, petting her. “Not as much as that one likes you,” he chuckles, nodding toward your lap, where your new friend had fallen asleep snuggling you. “He’s got good taste.”
You give a sincere but strained smile, and not knowing what to say, go to drink some coffee. Your nerves distracting you, you clumsily knock over the cup, spilling some on the cat by Remus. Startled, it hisses and jumps across Remus to get to the ground, scratching him in her hurry across.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” You reach over to try and help somehow, but there’s not much you can do, and your hands just dance around him awkwardly. “I’m sorry; I’m so, so sorry,” you keep chanting.
“It’s fine, really.” “Oh my god,” you mumble, covering your face with your hands.
“Hey, it’s fine; it’s okay,” Remus reassures you, and you feel his hands come to yours.
He brings your hands away from your face and holds them in his, his thumb running back and forth on your skin. “It’s okay. It’s not a big deal,” he tries to calm you. You want to believe him, but you feel horrible, and another look at the freshly bloody scratch on his arm makes you wince. He sees you looking at it, and releasing one of your hands, he brings his up to your chin, raising it so your eyes meet his. “I’m fine, lovely. It’s just a scratch,” he smiles. “I don’t think it’ll even leave a scar,” he looks down at it. “But, hey, if it does, I don’t even mind. I’ll love to have a reminder of our first date,” he laughs.
“Yeah, of how I ruined it all,” you retort sadly. “Ugh, it’s not surprising, of course I did,” you look away despite his hand gently holding your chin. “It’s only surprising you wanted it to be a date in the first place.”
“Hey, hey, hey,” he shushes you gently. “Please stop.” You do, but keep looking down, feeling on the verge of tears. “Hey, look at me, love. Please.” You manage it. “Of course I wanted to be a date. How could I not? Don’t you realize by now I love spending time with you?” “You love spending time with all your friends.” As your insecurities surface, the tears finally do as well.
“You’re not like all my friends. Actually, you’re not like any of my friends.”
“Yeah, I’m not as cool and outgoing,” you sniffle. And in the softest whisper, you add, “or as pretty. Maybe if I finally lost some weight…”
“You’re breaking my heart here, lovely,” he says, scooting close to you. “You’re so beautiful.” When you try to look away, he gently guides your face back, caressing you and repeating, “So fucking beautiful. And fun and funny. Witty and wicked smart. You don’t have to be outgoing to be those things. Being loud is overrated,” he jokes. “Your quiet is electric. You save the words for the good stuff. And you’re much more expressive than you think,” he chuckles. “It’s subtle, but it’s there. If you look. And I can’t help but look. Fuck, it’s enthralling. You’re enthralling.” A smile, a caress. He squeezes your hand. “So can you please stop being so mean to my favourite person?” he chuckles, moving closer, his eyes piercing yours. You give the slightest nod, and he wipes your tears away, smiling warmly.
“Sorry,” you whisper.
“Don’t be sorry. It’s okay.”
His hand lingers on your face even after all your tears are gone. You see his Adam’s apple bob and feel his hand get a bit fidgety in yours. His eyes quickly shoot across your face. They linger on your lips but return to your eyes as he moves closer. You smile at him and move the tiniest bit toward him as well. He smiles back, and you can feel his tension begin to ease at your warmth. It completely melts away when his lips meet yours. Remus tastes slightly of tea when he deepens the kiss. He’s a warmth and comfort you’ve never felt before, and you want to be enveloped in him forever.
Your forever is cut quite short by the cat from earlier bounding back into his lap, startling you apart. She rubs her head against him, and you both laugh as you pet her.
Remus’s eyes are cheerful as he’s looking down at her, but when he looks up at you, they fill with a striking brightness and adoration. If eyes that stunning could look at you like that, maybe you could see the beauty they beheld too.
