"HEY! OVER HERE!" Jaune jumped and waved as the black beast loomed over Pyrrha.

Every team at Beacon had been assigned the extracurricular activities of exterminating every single Grimm they encountered in the Emerald Forest. Based on the size and classification of said monsters, points would be awarded accordingly. Beowolfs were worth five points, Ursa ten, Deathstalkers and Nevermores on the larger scale were worth fifty, while their smaller relatives were worth one. With Jaune's scores already so low, it only made sense to come to the forest for extra credit.

Unfortunately, the beowolf that took the champion by surprise was much larger than the other Grimm Team JNPR had slain earlier. Nora and Ren were busy on the other side of the clearing, though it was more Ren trying to wrangle in Nora so she didn't stray too far, chasing after some Grimm who had the sense to reatreat. Jaune had managed to dispose of one while it was attempting to attack Pyrrha from another direction.

Pyrrha had tripped and fell backwards, her sword knocked away. Jaune, seeing her in trouble, took action to help her by throwing a rock at the monster. Eyes as evil as hell itself glared at the boy.

"Come and get me, big guy!" Jaune stepped into the backpedal to get away, watching as the Grimm stalked closer to him in elongated strides atop pillar-sturdy legs. Realizing how big the Grimm really was, Jaune realized how outmatched he was. And the Grimm's maw dripped with anticipation.

The beast lunged, barely missing as it leapt over Jaune, who ducked as claws swung at his frame. In a panic, Jaune fled into the safety of the woods. Pyrrha screamed after him, but the boy and the Grimm had already disappeared into the shadows of the woods.

Pyrrha reclaimed her sword and was about to chase after Jaune when a hand grabbed her shoulder. She turned and found Ren shaking his head.

"It's too dangerous to go alone." Ren said, reeling back his hand. "We'll go after him to-"

The team froze as a hellish sound erupted from the forest. Sounding like a demonic wolf, their collective blood dipped into chilling subzero. It was then that the forest came alive with more howls, as branches cracked and trees shooks. Pyrrha looked to Ren, who swallowed a lump.

"I'll call for help."

"Please hurry." Pyrrha said with an almost breaking voice.

"Crap, crap, crap!" Jaune huffed as he ran through the forest. He slid to a stop and crawled into hole under the roots of a tree. There wasn't much room, but it would be enough for now.

He lost sight of the Grimm, but that did little to ease his fears. Fears that he had to do away with, lest he be caught and almost immediately slaughtered. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He heard the wind blow, carrying leaves and the sounds of wolves panting.

Except they weren't wolves. These monsters preyed on the fears placed in humanity after centuries of living alongside such creatures. He, too, lived with them. Or at least, in his dreams, he did.

The Arcadian Forest was an almost magical world, completely different from anything else he had known. He ran, played, hunted, ate, and slept with the bounties of the forest. He opened his eyes and found a Beowolf staring at him through the wood.

With a gasp, the beast began clawing at the wood. Jaune swiftly freed his blade and stabbed through it's head. It's eyes dimmed to a dull red as it's black hide drifted in the wind. Keeping a tight grip on his sword, he climbed free of his exposed hideout. He closed his eyes once more and took another deep breath.

He could smell the Grimm. It was an evil scent one doesn't mistake so easily once learned. His ears twitched as he tilted his head around. Nine beowolves, one of which was bigger than the others.

Memories came back and filled Jaune's mind as he crouched low, softly stepping into the brush. He spotted a beowolf searching close by, back to him. His heart thundered as he moved closer, before leaping and slicing the monster apart before jumping into another, separate brush.

Moving along, he found another beowolf, and then another. Each kill made him more confident. Made him more thrilled. It made him cocky, and he killed his fifth one with a growl, stupidly catching the attention of the remaining four. It didn't take long for him to be surrounded.

Three ran through the brush, snapping and snarling at him. Jaune stepped backwards until he heard a crack. Looking behind him, he saw the large Grimm that attacked Pyrrha earlier. Jaune was outnumbered and also outclassed. With a gulp, he kept his shield up and braced for the attacks.

From his left, a beowolf swiped at him, nearly sending him in a spin. He stumbled, but stayed standing as another claw swung at him. Jaune stepped back, avoiding the attack, but almost bumping too close to another beowolf.

He scrambled away as he heard snapping jaws behind him. He saw all four beowolves approach as he stood against the tree. There was no escaping this time.

He wanted to close his eyes. Close and hope for it to be quick, if not for a miracle of him being saved. It was then a sound caught his attention. Following the sound, he found the largest of the four was standing on the far right side, limping on it's right leg. And there was a cracking noise inside from a previous wound.

Jaune bolted to the side with the wound, narrowly avoid a claw and thrusting his sword into the leg before gaining distance. The Grimm roared in pain, causing one of the Grimm to charge Jaune. Jaune held his shield close and swung his sword, lopping off it's head. One down, three to go.

Another swiped at him, but he put he rolled away, scrambling to put distances between himself and them. However, the largest of the Grimm struck him, catching it's claws on his chestplate. Jaune flew into the air, crashing hard into the ground. He felt dizzy from the sudden launch.

The Grimm barked at him. No, it wasn't so much a bark as it was a laugh. It was mocking him. Toying with him. Jaune started getting angry, like it was goading him. Jaune almost jumped when a memory held him back. He tried something like this before, long, long ago, and it didn't work then. It won't work now.

Jaune approached with caution, though the Grimm didn't offer the same respect. It stepped closer, limping worse than before. Once Jaune was in range, he swung his sword. He missed, the monster leaning away, and Jaune swung again the other direction, slicing through as he stepped forward.

The larger beowolf yelped as it fell back in pain. The attack wasn't fatal, but the Grimm was greatly wounded. The other two charged forward in it's stead. Jaune held his shield up as a flurry of claws scraped and screeched against his shield. He pushed one back, finding the wounded beowolf returned with a bite aimed for Jaune's head.

Taking sword in both hands, he leaned into his extended blade, momentum driving the massive monster into him like meat into a slicer. Jaune's blade fell through, striking the ground. As he panted, he looked away to find the beast faded away, bones and hide blown away by the wind in the forest.

Snarls caught his attention again as he looked back to the two remaining beowolves. Readying himself, he found... he was tired. Really tired. He barely survived against the previous beowolf, and the others were killed with dumb luck. Still, he'd put up a good fight.

It was then that Jaune heard a whistling sound growing louder. Looking to the source, he saw a pink cannister soaring towards his direction. He wasn't sure if this was how he would die, but hey, it was better than dying to beowolves.

"Do you have any idea how utterly stupid your actions were?" Professor Goodwitch scolded within her office, Jaune seated in front of her with his head down like a whipped pup. "Not only did you endanger your life, but you risked the well-being of your team as well!"

"If you had been killed because of your reckless behavior, which you would have, your team would likely have chased after upon observing your low aura. I know this because this was exactly what they did!" Jaune's team shrunk as her gaze briefly landed on them, before returning to him. "Clearly, this is an indication of your poor leadership skills and the effect it has on your team."

"And yet," a new voice emerged, one older and wiser, "I believe Mr. Arc is due what he is owed, is he not?"

Professor Goodwitch exhaled a sigh. "Beyond the additional assignments that will be administered to you and your team, the headmaster has deemed it to apply your tallied score to your grade." She tapped on her scroll, willing a screen to life behind her for the entire team to see. "For slaying one beowolf, Lie Ren is awarded five points. Slaying four beowolves, Pyrrha Nikos is awarded twenty points. For one nest of Deathstalkers, eight Nevermores, and six Beowolves, Nora Valkyrie will be awarded forty-three points. And for your reckless, dangerous, and outright stupid plan, you, Jaune Arc, in which you've eliminated seven Beowolves and one Alpha Beowolf, you are awarded fifty points, with is enough to advance your grade to a passing standard."

Jaune could hardly believe it. Today, he had managed to save his friend, survive against an entire pack of Beowolves, and earned his way to a passing grade. He could cry, though Professor Goodwitch was likely to make it her responsibility first.

"But!" Her crop whistled as it sliced through the air, catching his attention. "To ensure this doesn't happen again, you and your team will not be permitted to conduct extracurricular activities for the rest of the semester. Am I understood?"

He didn't want to smile in the face of danger, but he couldn't help himself. He was too happy! With a beaming grin, he nodded. "Yes, ma'am!" He barked.

Hello, saw your posts about RWBY Characters' Allusions. A question, does team rwby have another character allusion?

A lot of characters have more than one allusion, and team RWBY is no different. These allusions often have a character fill a complementary role of a significant figure in another fairy tale.

Let's start with Ruby Rose. She is of course Little Red, but there are also other characters she embodies. The Wolf in the story is known for his big & shiny eyes, a very notable feature of Ruby (that was pointed out by Ozpin in the first episode, just like the fairy tale). She is also her own huntsman, equip with an "axe" weapon of her own.

Weiss Schnee is Snow White, but also takes other roles of the story based on her summons. Her Boartusk represents the huntsman, who killed a boar to spare the princess. Her Knight represents the noble prince who saves her. Her Queen Lancer represents the Evil Queen who plagues her. Weiss seems to take after the Evil Queen the most, with her friends often referring to her as "Ice Queen".

After reading those first two, you can probably now understand why Blake is based on both Beauty & the Beast. She has Belle's beauty, part of her name, her love for books, her relationship to "Adam" and her tendency to run away. But like the Beast, she has animal traits that she hides, is haunted by a rose, prefers living in isolation, and eventually falls in love with a human girl. She is often seen in Forever Fall, a forest with wilting red flowers, representing the wilting rose that curses the Beast.

Yang is Goldilocks with her destructive nature & yellow hair, but can also be seen as Baby Bear, the child of the Papa (Taiyang, blue eyes) & Mama (Raven, red eyes), resulting in Yang being a mix of both (purple eyes). Each parent compares Yang to the other, and she learns to embrace the good and bad traits of both in order to become "just right".

The tale of Rose Red & Snow White, two young girls based on Little Red & Snow White, can be the inspiration for the partnership between Ruby & Weiss. The two were sisters, which is represented by the ever-growing bond between Ruby & Weiss. Weiss's fairy tale, Snow White, could also be the reason for Ruby's theme, Red Like Roses, which is how the Evil Queen described how red she wants her lips in the original tale (in some stories she compares it to blood in the snow, both line up perfectly with the Red Trailer & Players & Pieces).

Weiss also represents the story of the Snow Queen. She is called Ice Queen. She has a male companion (Kai/Whitley) who is cold, distant, & rude. She sets off to find the Snow Queen (Winter) in V5, during her trip she meets a talking corvid (Raven) & a robber maiden (Vernal). Weiss also gets pierced by evil glass like Gerda.

Gerda’s most cherished memories is being young playing in the rose gardens with her friend. They shared many happy memories here. This rose garden takes the embodiment of Ruby Rose, who befriends Weiss & takes her on adventures. Weiss reminisces about Ruby in V4 after the attack on Beacon, missing the days when they had fun together. A frozen rose garden is seen in Weiss Character Short, representing her longing for Ruby (innocence, fun, freedom).

Blake & Yang have so many allusions when it comes to their relationship. Start with Beauty and Beast. Blake already shows traits of both Belle & the Beast, but Yang does as well. Her affiliation with yellow, adventure, bright energy, & beauty is reminiscent of Belle. The Red Trailer even directly ties her with Blake, calling her the beauty to her beast. Yet Yang also displays signs of the Beast, most notably her behavior when she is angry. She sparks fire red eyes similar to the monstrous Grimm they fight, and is the most aggressive fighter of the group. She receives an injury on her arm identical to the Beast. Most importantly, she is abandoned by Beauty in V3. This theme of having similar & different traits within one another ties into another dynamic that will be explained later.

There are two roses that bring them together. They meet through Ruby, the good rose Yang gives to Blake. Adam is the bad rose that Blake tries to keep away from Yang, but he breaks them. Adam starts off as the Beast (Adam) to Blake’s Beauty. Once she leaves him (like the fairy tale) he then embodies the Rose that haunts her. Once he meets Blake’s new partner, he then becomes Gaston & adopts his jealousy. Once Blake & Yang defeat him, they free themselves from the curse and come back to the Good Rose.

Blake & Yang also represent the Yin & Yang dynamic. We have the darkness (Blake) and the light (Yang), with a little bit of each other in each (matching eyes). Many cultures depict Yin as a tiger (Blake's cat ears) and Yang as a dragon (Xiao Long). The themes of darkness and light has been associated with Blake & Yang since their trailers. Blake engulfs in darkness when she leaves, while Yang brings light when she enters (kind of like their semblances). Scenes with Blake & Yang play with lighting a lot (2x06, 6x01, 9x06), and fights involving them often have them circling around each other or moving across each other, just like the Yin Yang Symbol.

Team RWBY as a whole also has references. One commonly known reference is the Wizard of Oz crew, with Ruby acting as Dorothy (who had Ruby/Silver slippers). Weiss is the Tin Man who gains heart while the real one loses it (Ironwood), Blake is the Lion who gains courage while the real one loses it (Lionheart), and Yang is the Scarecrow who learns to fight smarter while the real one acts irrationally (Qrow). These four adventurers set off to Beacon (Land of Oz), meet the Wizard (Ozpin), and get their wishes (graduating). They are told to stay on the Yellow Road, but fail.

The team's respective Remnants also allude to their fairy tales. Ruby sheds roses, representing her red color scheme, her youthful innocence, and the flowers Little Red picks for her grandmother. Weiss sheds snow, representing her white color scheme, her cold attitude, and Snowhite's soft skin that gave her the name. Blake sheds shadows, representing her black color scheme, her dark personality and background, and the Beast condemned to the shadows. Yang sheds fire, representing her yellow color scheme, her bright but scorching personality, and the porridge Goldilocks claimed was "too hot".

Ruby represents multiple figures from others characters’ allusions. Penny is based on Pinocchio, who wishes on a Shooting Star to be a real human. Ruby, who is often characterized as a small flickering light (literally & figuratively) she represents the star that Penny wishes for & makes her feel human (literally & figuratively).

2x07 Dance Dance Infiltration is a retelling of the Cinderella story. The maiden is told she needs to return by midnight, puts on a disguise, & goes off. Ruby tracks her, Cinderella enters the stage, the two dance, and she leaves without a trace. Ruby in this case represents the Prince that wants to find the mysterious maiden he danced with the night before. His only clue was her missing glass slipper. Cinder fights with glass, a point Ruby reports to her professors as information to track her down.

There's a lot more micro references to other fairy tales but these are the most notable for Team RWBY. These references influence how a character is portrayed, how they interact with others, and the actions they take.

Probably what I miss the most about early rwby is how there weren't any sudden villains. You knew who was going to be a problem and that was that

The closest early rwby got to a hero/villain blurry line was with Ironwood, and that's mostly because of his disagreement with Ozpin. The finale cements him as a good guy who just happens to be a little rigid in thinking

But then V5 rolls around and suddenly there's a wolf among sheep in every damn volume. Lionheart, Oz and Qrow, Ace Ops, Ironwood, Curious. All heroes falling for bare bone reasons at best and it's never satisfying! Hell, most of the people I listed I agree with far more than the kids

I can't help but wonder why this trend keeps popping up. What purpose does it add to the narrative to have the team be betrayed constantly? Isn't this supposed to be a show about hope and "love conquers all" and shit like that? Wouldn't it be more hopeful to have more people realize their mistakes and give the team their support against Salem as they make amends instead of dying uselessly?

Where the fuck is the hope in this hopepunk show??

It's a little odd to me how...clear, the Alice in wonderland theme is.

Like usually the fairy tale motif does not go further then aesthetic and such. Or just some hints. This is just, Alice in wonderland with the names altered a bit. It's not necessarily a complaint it's just a little interesting to me how straightforward it is this volume

You know, that is an interesting observation, anon. I feel like in the past RWBY has been both incredibly vague and frustratingly on-the-nose. So yeah, the allusions rarely go beyond the aesthetic. Ruby has a red cape and fights wolf-like creatures... but so does everyone else. That's not unique to her. Nora has a hammer and can control lightning, but she's not at all connected to Remnant's Gods (that we know of). Jaune is gender-bent version of Joan and he carries a sword and shield, but his personality, especially at the start, is the opposite of a go-getter leader. The allusions are mild, mostly detail-oriented inspirations that make the viewer go, "Oh, now I see why the character named Ozpin wears green. Fun!"

On the other hand, RWBY has also adhered to their allusions to such a degree that it's actually been to the detriment of the story. The two biggest examples that come to mind are Penny and Blake. Penny was a fantastic character in large part because we understood her as a Pinocchio offshoot, but she wasn't defined by that inspiration; she was her own person undergoing her own arc in a unique world's plot. However, then the writers swerved and essentially said, "She's Pinocchio, she has to become real" and ended up shooting themselves in the foot when you consider everything from the fact that Penny never expressed an interest in being human - only in being extended the same rights and respect as "real" people. She's an allegory for disability - to the issue of Jaune absolutely being able to heal a human body, but he would have actually failed to repair a dismantled android. (Plus, what was the point of setting up Pietro's inability to revive her with aura again if you weren't going to use that?) Blake, meanwhile, suffers from an over-the-top adherence to her cat aesthetics in a story where such teasing functions as a form of racism. By going, "We have a cat character. Let's make her like cat things!" the writers missed how they've essentially got their characters engaging in consistent micro aggression without unpacking where they learned that and how they might unlearn it. Blake is part cat, but rather than keeping that purely as an aesthetic (or giving her abilities treated with respect, like in combat), she has to be obsessed with fish, follow laser pointers, be terrified of dogs, act as the animal in a play, etc. - all moments that function as jokes, not something for the characters to unpack.

All of which situates Ever After in this weird place for me. Because absolutely, on the one hand I'm not used to RWBY going so hard in one direction that you can tell at a glance what ever character is referencing because look, they've barely even changed the original names. On the other hand, RWBY lacks subtly in so much else that I'm going yeah, of course it's Alice in Wonderland just slightly to the left. When given the chance, RWBY often wants to adhere to their allusions, regardless of whether that makes sense for their unique world.

Tokyo Mew Mew in RWBY AU.

Ichigo, Mint, Bu-Ling and Lettuce are an all Faunus team sticking together in the face of aggressions be they micro or macro.

Zakuro is a pro-huntress at a young age whom they shadow ala Oobleck in Volume 2's finale and is a gives-no-fucks kind of mentor who's a lot more caring that she lets on.

Ichigo leads the team (acronyms later) but gets guidance from the lone wolf. Mint still has it bad for Zakuro like Weiss did for Pyrrha but more explicit.

Mint will be a more dialed down Weiss but no less snooty at first.

Bu-Ling is a child prodigy like Ruby but more explicitly the little kid of the group. She has fewer siblings but none the less wants to be a Huntress to make their lives easier.

Ryo is headmaster and Keiichiro is his assistant, often being far more blunt that Ozpin.

Masaya is Deep Blue's unknowing sleeper agent to reincarnate in. A sort of reversal of Ozpin being the good guy reincarnating. The God's cursed the defiant one with being able to heal fast but reincarnating if the body is beyond repair.

Quiche would be a mix of Tyrian and Adam, a deadly combo for Ichigo to contend with as fellow Faunus. Hell, I hope TMMN gets a dub with Jessie James Grelle as the voice of Quiche.

Just as Remnant have color names born out of a war for repressing self-expression, kids are named after food since part of that art was culinary as well as remembering when rationing was a part of it.

on my latest rwby au bullshit, which I think i will officially start to also tag as the "Silver Wolf" AU.

Silver Wolf AU: Premise

A combo of Ruby being a wolf faunus (on top of getting rid of the stupid rule about one trait because fuck that i want her to have the ears, tail, AND sharp teeth and nails) and having silver eyes, but silver eyed warriors now being considered like... this creepy-but-unfortunately-necessary group who barely anybody wants to really associate with, under fear of it "cursing" you. By extension, they are now known as "Witches" rather than "Warriors", regardless of gender. (This also makes it possible to just shorten it to 'Witch' and have it already be pretty obvious what a character is talking about, so it rolls off the tongue better, while also creating this uncomfortable implication that these people are put on the same level as Salem despite directly opposing her.) The "curse" is a more superstitious exaggeration of the unfortunate reality that associating with them really can put you at risk of becoming collateral when they're hunted down, on top of their eyes now being not all-or-nothing Grimm nuking, but instead having a sort of "level up" system, and the potential to unlock certain abilities that can affect people too. (the new common thread being that all of these abilities have to do with sensing and/or eliminating "darkness" and "negativity", not just Grimm) The fear of association, powers that can be directed towards humans, and the societal shunning would also do a lot to help explain exactly why Witches are so scattered and fragmented, and why people know so little about them. Because in canon, it just seems like they should be heroes who everyone should know about and have a vested interest in supporting.

Also, this AU would 100% be a Ladybug thing. Because I can just see Blake standing up for Ruby, and Ruby immediately being head over heels in response, but having no idea how to actually express it and also being paranoid that Blake will just think she's weird like everyone else. (And meanwhile Blake is paranoid about how Ruby will react if she finds out that Blake is technically a terrorist, and also friend/sister-zoning Ruby big time for the first few volumes, less out of a genuine lack of interest and more because of her subconscious fear of commitment)

Although there'd also be other fragments of Ruby ship teases, just because I imagine this version of her to have developed "gets a crush on anyone who's nice to her for five seconds" syndrome. (Yes I'm sorry, I know a ton of y'all hate Jaune but my Ruby's friendless, bullied, avoided, desperate-for-validation ass sees him being nice to her and unafraid of her for like ten seconds and is lowkey already thinking about a spring wedding.) This also includes a one-sided crush on Ozpin, just for how I think that'd be kinda narratively interesting and potentially a little fucked up. (Especially because the full nuance of why it's interesting can change depending on how grey this Ozpin's morals end up being. Is he subtly using it as leverage? Could this version of him be dickish enough to lead her on? Does he do it on purpose? Or does he even notice her feelings at all? Does he notice and subtly try to discourage it? What happens when he gets stuck in Oscar?) And a crush on Marrow, literally just because I think it'd be funny. Marrow: *obliviously friendly* Ruby: *practically ready to become Ruby Amin, just because he's a fellow Faunus, complimented Crescent Rose, and didn't say anything about her eyes* Blake, looking on: hmst,,, don't know why but. this is bad, actually. Weiss: *sighing deeply* you obviously know why. Meanwhile I figure Yang is human, because only Summer was a Faunus, and it kinda puts this weird Thing between her and Ruby where Ruby both greatly admires and envies her, but lowkey resents her, because she feels like Yang will never truly understand what she goes through, and gets to "have it easy". On her own end, Yang has had to sacrifice a lot of social opportunities to prioritize a good standing with Ruby, because even just admitting relation to Ruby makes people treat Yang differently anyway. So Ruby thinks of herself as a burden, and Yang is desperately trying to hide the fact that she *agrees* with Ruby, deep down. She thinks the burden is *worth it*, but she doesn't know a way of properly conveying "It's okay that you're a burden sometimes, I know it's not your fault, and I still love you even if I get frustrated with you sometimes" that doesn't make her feel incredibly guilty and paranoid that she sounds insincere. And finally (at least for now) I think this would be inch-resting for Adam because now Ruby has something that can actually give her something to do with him too, and make her feel more connected to the things that go on around her. She could even have weird mixed feelings on him, stemming from him seeing her silver eyes and not only expressing approval of them, but trying to get her to come around to his side, using the extra discrimination she's faced because of them to try and butter her up and manipulate her.

"And finally: Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long." The headmaster of Beacon waved his arm to the four girls, who then took to the stage. Standing before an audience under a blinding spotlight, Blake fought the urge to cover her eyes. Looking to her fellow faunus, Ruby Rose, she noticed she didn't feel such hesitation and raised an arm over her brow. "The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose."

More cheers and applause followed. Ruby dropped her arm in surprise, while Yang immediately squeezed her new leader, embarrassing her by lifting her off the ground and swinging her. Weiss was moreso shocked, likely expecting herself to be made the Team Leader instead. But Blake looked past her team and to the headmaster, who gave a solemn nod.

Soon it would be time to talk.

"Dad! Dad!" Ruby called into the screen from her seat. Taiyang, on the other side of the screen, shoved her dad. "Dad, did you hear me at all?"

"I heard ya just fine, kiddo." Her dad said with a yawn. "Ya got into Beacon, right?"

"I said that weeks ago!" She whined, her wolf ears going flat. "I'm here now, and I-"

"Made team leader, right?"

"Oh, so you were listening?" Taiyang said with a scowl. "We're both proud of you, Ruby."

"I was up late doing an important job for your headmaster." Dad gave a grin. "And he's wanting me to swing by in a couple months." At this Ruby squealed.

"Would you keep it down over there?!" Ruby winced as her partner shouted over the barrier between them. She'd been so caught up in the excitement of the day, she'd forgotten she wasn't the only one with family to tell the good news to. "Apologies, Winter. My team leader decided she just has to be as loud as she possibly can."

"Hey, by the way, where's your sister?" Dad asked. "Coulda sworn she was gonna tell us with you."

"She got called to the headmaster's office. I don't know why, though." At this, the two men looked at each other with concern. "I-I'm sure it's nothing serious! She's just, y'know, got, uh..."

"It's fine, Ruby." Taiyang sighed. "I just didn't expect her to go to see Professor Ozpin already."

"It's probably because of her previous record at Signal." Dad explained. "She was a bit of a troublemaker back there."

Aside from a few pranks, not really. Maybe a little anti-bullying violence after Ruby showed up, but nothing to the point where she'd have to go straight to the headmaster's office. What could have happened that required her to go after her initiation?

"Ms. Belladonna?" Blake looked up from her seat in the waiting room. The deputy headmistress, Professor Goodwitch, eyed her from her towering position over her. "The headmaster will see you now."

She and Yang had been called to the headmaster's office for some reason. At first, she thought it was in regard to herself being the Fall Maiden. However, the inclusion of her newest partner Yang muddied the conclusion. Could this be because Yang was now her partner, or something else entirely? Yang hadn't left yet, so she was still in there.

With a nod, she stood up and entered the elevator leading to the Beacon Headmaster's office. The large room at the top was massive, almost dome-like with it's ceiling nearly obscured by massive, moving gears.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Belladonna." Professor Ozpin formally greeted.

"Wassup, Blake?" Yang informally greeted.

"Now that you are both here," the headmaster began, "I would like to congratulate you both on passing initiation. And with that said, I would like you both to properly introduce yourselves to each other."

"Of course." Blake nodded, then turning to Yang. "My name is Blake Belladonna, and I am the Fall Maiden."

"No way!" Yang covered her mouth. "You're a Maiden, too?!"

Cade Skywalker went missing after the One Sith attacked the Ossus Project, and nearly twenty years later, he has yet to be found found.

Darth Krayt has been slain at the hands of Darth Wyyrlok III

Darth Talon has also been slain, but her cause of death is currently undetermined

Maladi and Nihl have joined forces and created their own sect of Acolytes.

Oscar Pine is close friends with Weiss and her family, and was given some gifts by them before he answered the call.

Winter Schnee is a Knight of the Fel Empire, who defected, and passed her armour onto Weiss, who has it repurposed for Oscar.

Winter has kept her imperial lightsaber but intends to switch out the synthetic crystal for something different.

She has also constructed her own personal lightsaber, which is completely unique to her.

The Fel Empire has been rounding up lost and fallen jedi since the attack on the Ossus Project.

Taiyang tempers Pontites and forges synthetic crystals to utilise in his highly customised lightsabers.

Taiyang has also created his own lightsaber using pontite crystals, but this one requires further maintenance because natural crystals do not react well after artificial tempering.

Ruby has found a way to augment the crystals during the forging process into creating a superior blade.

Oscar is given Ozma’s personal lightsaber until Ruby arrives with the new ones, and after the Acolytes are defeated, he returns it to Ozma.

Margrave Ozma’s personal lightsaber has a blue blade, and it is powered by three natural crystals.

One Solari to widen the blade.

One Durindfire, which gives the blade a silver-sheen.

One Pontite that instills a calm in the wielder and others around.

The Acolytes who come to the Margrave's home are sworn to Darth Nihl and Maladi.

But have also sworn allegiance to a hidden Lord of the Sith calling herself Darth Bellum, who hails from the Old Republic.

Rhodes taught Cinder everything she knows.
