Publisher Flyhigh Works and Banchou Tactics developer Secret Character have announced Neko Odyssey, a cat photography adventure game coming to PC via Steam in 2024.

Neko Odyssey is a game for cat lovers you can’t miss! Here’s a slightly unusual casual adventure game where the main gameplay centers around taking pictures of cats. The pixel art graphics in a 3D setting create a charming atmosphere reminiscent of Japanese animation. In the game, you’ll have to search for cats in various locations throughout the town and take pictures to upload to social media (in game). Each photo you upload will earn likes from netizens. As you receive more likes, you’ll become better known, and your followers may offer tips on finding new and different cat poses. During the cat photography sessions, some cats may require you to establish a connection with them before allowing you to photograph them. You’ll also encounter certain events that will lead you to discover new photo opportunities. Apart from taking cat photos and sharing them on social media, the game features a main storyline where you’ll unravel the mysteries of the town based on the information you capture in your cat photos. You’ll experience excitement, cuteness, and inspiration along with the adventure in this game.

You say each book will likely be about 10 chapters, but that makes me curious. We're on chapter 6 right now, and it's entirely possible to play all the way through without catching a single whiff of [REDACTED], who I assume is the big bad or at least related to the big bad of this book. Be as vague as you need to avoid spoilers, but is it possible to bypass that plotline? Or will we be eventually surprised with it if we somehow manage to avoid ever getting involved?

The beginning of chapter seven will in fact introduce you if not personally then at least conceptually to [REDACTED]. I have actually just finished writing that part.

[REDACTED] is in some sense the villain of one of the storylines in this book, but that storyline does not entirely resolve. For now in fact it is not possible to give it a satisfying conclusion for plot reasons that will become apparent. You'll know who that character is, what role they played in that plotline, and some hint at why, but also why they can't really be handled in whatever way might seem appropriate.

This is meant to be another instance (along with the PC's situation), of a pattern that may have something to do with the plot of the third book. Make of that what you will. :)

About

Banchou Tactics is a strategy turn-based role-playing game in a Japanese gangster high school (banchou). The game is inspired by CROWS (Japanese manga), River City Ransom, and Final Fantasy Tactics.

Story

For several years of conflicts, there were bloody struggles between three high schools around this area (somewhere in Japan). This madness played by the three schools: Sakae High School, Nakamura Technical High School, and Minato High School. They engaged in many fierce battles with the aim to show who’s the boss in this town.

When Kitagawa Seiichi, the demon king of Minato High School just graduated last year, all the balance of three power came to doubt once again.

The game is set in Minato High School The story focuses on Taiga Arashi.
