was thinking last night about the direction the fnaf story is going and I was thinking about vanny cassie. like vanny cassie would be such a perfect villain because it brings vanny back to the spotlight and cassie has a connection to Gregory as a friend.
her arc would be so tragic in every way and she wouldnt know what or who to believe. she would believe she was abandoned by Gregory again (in this case he didnt cut the elevator) like all her friends and her dad did and that vanny is a friend. both manipulation and supernatural mind control stuff like glitchtrap did to vanessa to create vanny.
and 3 stars could be the protags in a post hw2 dlc game that's big and free roam story like sb. I think Gregory would be a better choice as player because he would have the best reason to chase after cassie; shes his friend. vanessa would be very important also because like. Vannys back. and now she has a family and another kid shes gonna fight like hell for.
"the family missed the greatest opportunity of their lives" vanessa didnt destroy vanny glitchtrap and mimic when she should have, and now they're back. and she isnt gonna run away scared this time. shell finally end them for good
and also Vannys motivation. since vanny killed glitchtrap (probably to take his place as big bad bunny virus) this makes you wonder why shes doing this. we dont know why glitchtrap did it either so I guess the same reason as him. shes supposed to be reluctant tho so? idk what's changed. but we'll go with building the monarchy evil pyramid back up
so vanny would be trying to get all of the followers back, or maybe shes still following mimics orders and it wants them back. could have a potential rebellion plot from vanny at the end but that's besides my point
the point is itd be such a fun spot to reveal ggy. Vanessa's been hiding it from Gregory to protect him, maybe freddy too, and Gregory has no idea and just knows he has tons of memory loss. hes moved past it to live his new life, but after doing all this to get Cassie back, it turns out vanny wants all the followers back and hey, why is she talking about 2?? who is dr rabbit?? why is she after me??
I just think theres a lot of potential in a plot like that for all characters. Vanessa's arc as vanny is already so interesting but cassie has an obviously very similar arc becoming vanny but also so different. she would be manipulated while shes alone hurting and believing she was betrayed with abandonment issues and taken advantage of. vanny would be using her as a vessel, so theyd have to get her out of cassie to kill her for good.
and if Gregory had to find out about ggy at this point, itd be a big deal but also truly make that connection between cassie and Gregory. no matter who cut the elevator Gregory would feel at fault because he either did it or wasnt fast enough to stop cassie before it happened. so he would have to confront condemning cassie to the same fate his family and now apparently HE went through and that's his best friend man. and also not to mention the concpet of vanessa and cassie of course

it's december 9th, meaning today is my 23rd birthday (which is my favorite number!), which means it's time for...
Lew Writes Wrapped 2023!!!
im including anything that happened after my last bday, so we have some works from december as well. this one's a bit of a weird one for the total word count, you'll see why
it's all treebark from my sideblog / alt ao3. i cannot change. i will not change. for these im just gonna specify the relationship that's the main focus bc thats easier than fandom bc all but like one are third life
dandelion wishing
(Dec, 2.4k, treebark, oneshot) (link)
op movie 6 au for dogwarts in which Martyn is the baron and Ren doesn't know he's dead
id actually plotted out a whole third life au for this movie like months prior and really wanted to write it, so i took it for treebark week and focused it just on these two. it's my fave movie of all time and i obvs had to give it to my fave completely dead team <3
i will admit tho. it did make me back search martyns twitter to see if hes ever posted abt watching this movie. bc i know he likes One Piece and i realized this would bring me into the danger zone (he hasnt ever posted abt it if hes seen it)
A Romance Route for the Doomed Villain?!?
(Dec, 5k, treebark, oneshot) (link)
treebark dating sim isekai parody that spiraled out of my control made in a day-long possession
im still baffled by this one. why was the response to this one so insane?? there was smth in the water the day i posted this bro. a 1:2 kudos to hits ratio for the entire first day is literally fucking unbelievable. 70 comments?? what hold did this fic have on you people. i got fic written about this one?? my friends goncharov'd me in front of my face
really fucking fun to write and the insane response was smth im always gonna remember. i appreciate you guys so much
treesekai also turns a year old in a few days!
Until the Angels Realize You're Not One of Them
(Feb, 7.2k, emerald duo, oneshot) (link)
a traitor phil au which was mostly just me talking about all the reasons i love technoblade
this one... wasnt actually written this year for the most part? i didnt want to not acknowledge it, since it's on my ao3 in this year, but i wont be able to count it toward the total
still. traitor phil au my beloved. hearing him say on his stream he and techno wanted to do a betrayal arc made me feel insane bc i already had this written at the time
missing or obstructed
(2022-present, 12.9k, Grian & Ren, ongoing) (link)
post 3L fic about Ren and Grian seeking out closure with a lot of funny little sleep metaphors
same deal as the last fic, i, uh dont think i actually wrote anything new for missing or obstructed this year either? just uploaded chapters i wrote last year,,, i didnt wanna now acknowledge it, but i wont count this in my total later
i miss her. one day ill actually sit down and write more missing or obstructed. in my doc im JUST at introducing Martyn and i havent written it yet
to reach my mangled debut
(Sept, 4.2k, treebark week, ongoing) (link)
it wouldnt be me if i didnt have an execution somewhere in here. another op au!
THIS. I LOVE HER. when rev and i were plotting out the whole storyline for smop renchanting i was begging please give me this scene i need it and i had so much fun writing it. i rlly need to finish soon but i haven’t had time but please. please check out smop. she’s top of my priority list to update
Three-Dog Night
(Sept, 6.7k, treebark week, oneshot) (link)
BIG DOG. beauty and the beast au!
god im so fond of this au. there’s some rlly good scenes written for this and unposted bc i just need to link them together. honestly i think if i took a month and focused it on this fic alone i could fucking finish it but i don’t have the time ;-;
that said i’m so enamored w this au genuinely. o dunno what else to say i just think. puppy
Cover Me In Roses
(Sept, 3.3k, treebark week, oneshot) (link)
lamplight roleswap! put Martyn in a flower pot
i don’t feel as motivated to work on this one when i have lamplight unfinished so it’s lower on my priorities but know i have like an entire arc of this written and unposted. we just have a few paths for this one and i have to decide which one to use
it’s so wild to me lamplight has like. aus. like this isn’t even the only one? a roleswap. that’s insane? it’s wild that you all like lamplight enough i can even get away with this
First Sign of a House Fire
(Sept, 2k, treebark week, oneshot) (link)
i love superhero stories for two reasons: plots about secrets and adapting the characters to give them powers. this had smth fun for both of them
yellow rose isn’t super high on my list of priorities to update (i think the oneshot is interesting on its own) but one day,,,, it’s part of the many aus cherri and i have but it’s the longest for sure. the doc for just this au is like 100k words long on its own. at the time i draft this cherri and i are actively writing smth else for it in another tab. theres like 4 offshoots and im obsessed w all of them. we had to make ocs about this one. i’m excited to eventually add more to this series
actually that’s one of the scenes i’m most excited for and most dreading adding. we made a backstory oc and im SO attached to him and im excited to post a thing out there w him but. ough. whatever cringe is dead i’ll get there eventually and brute force my way into attaching you to our funky little robot guy
also love that this fic forced me to be decided on a docv characterization that i have to stick to. he may be a canon guy to martyn’s vtuber lore but he’s my oc now too
Blindsided
(Sept, 2k, treebark week, ongoing) (link)
pirate au and royal au based on a big secret and also stuffing a guy in a box and it's all stupid dramatic literally what else do you want or need in life
this is my wife. my favorite. my most beloved. blindsided gives me new illnesses and diseases. i have just one scene to write before i can update it and then i can continue unleashing her. god i love this fic the drama of it is SO fun.
the funny thing abt blindsided is i know all the plot chronologically but now how to Present it which is part of why i haven’t continued too much. eventually i will but until then know that one of the scenes im sitting on which has been fully written is one i think about constantly. hopefully when i post it cherri’ll let free the comic she did for it
i actually have the ending of this fic written i just need to get there lmfao. second on my priority list after smop i think
Cradle of the Leviathan
(Sept, 1.5k, treebark week, oneshot) (link)
i just love mer aus man. whats the point of it all if you cant have mer aus. just get a big ol fish
i have the ending of this au written as well and literally so little of the lead up. but this is pretty low on my priorities. i think this one stands just fine on its own. mer aus are nice like that
we actually have a few mer aus but for now i’ll be focusing on this one. i do have a few sweet post story things written for this one. maybe one day i’ll write enough to post em lmao
Lamplight AU
(2022-present, 47k, treebark, ongoing) (link)
renchanting dnd/fantasy au, martyn's a paladin and ren's a lamp
so i started this au last year. my wrapped last year said my total was 20k, so that means this year's total is.... 27k!
and… it was just lamplight’s birthday and i did all my appreciation for the fic and its readers then, but god. i love this fic so much and i love you all who have read it and been so kind about it. the amount of popularity it has makes it a bit nerve wracking to work on, but i still really want to see it finished. i hope to see the bulk of it done by this time next year!
Six Sentence Sunday
six sentence sunday is a challenge where i try to post six sentences i wrote that week every sunday, to keep me writing every week of the year! i do it over on my writing blog, @driflew
i did not keep up on my six sentences,,, i had a lot of sunday fencing tournaments. i did for ~33 weeks this year! thats a pretty good amount! i’ll have to be more on top of it next year tho
unpublished work
the last few years i havent included unpublished work, but with the extreme bulk of it, i wanted to note it down. cherri @/cherrifire and i have been writing a lot back and forth at each other in discord dms this year, and i wanted to include those in my count! bc holy fucking shit is there a lot of them
i didn’t include collab pieces, just pieces i wrote alone. i also only included the renchanting aus i share w cherri and scarian aus i share w flowey, nothing else—no unfinished lamplight or other independent pieces or oneshots, no original fiction for class, nothing. i also missed a few u haven’t moved to docs yet. so i’m lowballing by a few. thousands. of words
the total for those is...... 135k words! there is,,, something wrong with me
total and end notes
our total this year is...
187512 words!
that might be my highest word count yet! because i caught treebark disease. wild.
something really fun about this year to me is i really loved everything i wrote.
if you want to get me a gift or support me on my birthday… maybe try reading my work and reblogging it or leaving a comment! you can find my writing at driflew or skelew on ao3, follow my writing blog at @driflew, or even consider tipping my kofi!
thank you for sticking with me and supporting me this year! i really appreciate it! hopefully i can break 100k next year too!

Heroic Journeys and Grooming
Tumblr media
There are a lot of things Palpatine did to isolate Anakin from his loved ones while trying to bring him over to his side with gifts and manipulations but the saddest one in my oppinion was the one in which he had convinced Obi-Wan, the Jedi and Padme that it was Anakin the one who asked the attention of the Chancellor, not the other way around, so it was Anakin the one they started to suspect, hidding information from him in the case of Padme, who didn´t believe she could trust her husband with her political partners worries about the Chancellors extension of power, giving way to Palpatine to tell Anakin, Padme was part of a group looking to make a coup or in the Jedi´s case looking at him as if he was in league with the Chancellor because of their "friendship" as the Council thought because Anakin was the extremely force sensitive kid/young man who liked the attention of the old Chancellor who was a force null.
Tumblr media
So they expected Anakin to USE this apparent influence he had over the Chancellor to make him Stop his reforms on the Senate and the Jedi Order, while Anakin was just there looking at them thinking since when did he had any influence on the Chancellor of the whole Galaxy? Since when does anybody ask him about his oppinion? instead of simply asking him to obey them? and why didn´t they do so in the Senate where that type of appeals belong?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Palpatine didn´t just made sure Anakin trusted him, he also made sure all other people in his life started to distrust Anakin motives, just as he made Anakin distrust them as well.
Tumblr media
And this dynamic follows their interactions on the Empire, Palpatine is the beloved leader or at least authority figure who leads the Empire with politics while Vader is his iron fist, his most brutal enforcer who surely enjoys the power Palpatine handed to him when Anakin truly didn´t want power for powers sake, he wanted the power to make justice, to free slaves, to make those who abused their power pay and as Vader, as twisted as he was by the darkside, his old wish for justice became a wish for Order even a brutal, imperfect, unjust one, not power for power´s sake.
Tumblr media
This is why I think Luke´s heroic journey is so different to other ones in modern fiction, because he noticed what was happening behind appareances, that Darth Vader was trapped, that Darth Vader was a slave, that Darth Vader needed help
You don´t think to tell the Second in comand of a Galactic Empire who happens to be your enemy and father to run away with you, risking your own friendships and loyalties, if you had the idea they were truly in command of what was happening. and it wasn´t an easy journey for Luke, he had his own many reasons to hate his father, both personal and on moral principle but he could not bring himself to kill him, just as he knew his father wasn´t able to kill him as much as his master asked. Luke had to learn to let go of his hate so he could ask his father to do the same.
Tumblr media
Luke started out his journey as the Hero who was in charge of killing the dragon, only to notice the chains and the wounds around the drangon´s neck, so he decided to free him, he won the day using his love and compassion which in turn awoke his faher´s own love and compassion for others.
Tumblr media
Lucas started to tell his story of Vader truly being trapped by the Emperor with the darkside since the Old trilogy while the Prequel trilogy served to tell the story of just how far back that dynamic actually went and it´s such a good story because Anakin becoming a villain who commited terrible deeds, dind´t mean he wasnt a victim. That dychotomy is fascinating and it´s also a beautiful story.

im anon because i dont want hate this…
jason wasnt in the wrong…
his girlfriend was brutally murdered at someones house who is now on the run its so reasonable to assume eddie killed her!
even though he went a little crazy with it he was dealing with grief of losing a loved one
he also experienced patricks with absolutely 0 explanation he witnessed something traumatizing everyone always feels bad for eddie because he had to watch chirssy die jason had to watch patrick one if his closest friends die
he has no idea wtf was happening and he wasn’t crazy when he was talking about the devil being in Hawkins after what he saw thats not crazy
he thought lucas was killing max she was in a scary state and lucas was the only one there it is not wrong of him to blame lucas in his eyes because he has no information
im not saying he didnt take things too far or he wasn’t arrogant or did bad things but the pure hatred and dissmisal of his character is not warranted
oooh, anon this is a spicy one- and i agree with you, but i’m gonna slightly tweak what you said.
his MINDSET was right, his REACTION was not.
his initial response to all of it is so valid. it is completely understandable to think that it was the work of demons or satan, because it’s unexplainable without context- then add on top of that that he’s living in a little conservative town? yeah, it’s entirely reasonable that he would think or feel the way he did- hell, his girlfriend was murdered and the police didn’t seem to be doing jack shit about it.
however, his reaction was not a good one. the manhunt, the weapons, the arguable minor torture to get information out of corroded coffin- absolutely not correct (which obviously i’m pretty sure you agree with, given what you said in your ask)
tldr, anon you’re right, jason has been OVERLY villainized. he was of course still an antagonist this season, but people misinterpret his motives and act as though they would have immediately just joined the party instead of panicking and running wild.
doesn’t excuse what he did, but it’s understandable.

tomura is nicer than you think he is
people are allowed to write characters however makes them happy, but i wish there were an equal amount of people who paid attention to his canon characterization too. i wish i could find a fic or two that doesn't make him a tsundere (he's not one - though i understand the appeal) or weirdly mean to his friends (he's usually very chill!!)
he let toga hold a knife to his neck. he let spinner grab him by the collar of his shirt and yell in his face. he let dabi tell him he didn't give a shit about his tragic backstory and wasn't gonna stick around to help directly. he let twice tackle him to the ground and all he had to say was "wow, you multiplied yourself! good job!"
Tumblr media
so, heres a long post explaining where canon tomura is much different from fanon tomura - mostly in terms of how he treats his team, his general understanding of other people, and his actually very mellow attitude. ft. lots of manga panels as evidence
when twice tells him he can't duplicate the bullets like he wants him to, tomura doesn't lash out or berate him, even though he's visibly disappointed. (and honestly? the fact that tomura is willing to accept that twice won't duplicate himself "for personal reasons" and is never shown pressuring him to or chewing him out over it, is pretty telling in itself.)
tomura actually has pretty good people-senses. he knew toga held a knife to his throat because she wasnt sure she could trust him anymore, and he immediately made himself vulnerable and assured her (and twice) that he was acting in their best interest.
Tumblr media
he knew how to act casual when uraraka caught him with midoriya. he knows how to be polite to people he likes or wants something from. he calls stain "daisenpai" (translated as “sir” below) which, to my understanding, is EXTREMELY respectful and very specifically means tomura is openly admitting hes BELOW stain in terms of experience and ranking. (I'm also pretty sure this means he thinks of being a villain like a job, which is pretty cute)
Tumblr media
also, some other times he reassures his team on-screen,
Tumblr media
the image above has always been so striking to me. twice is probably expecting some scolding and is quick to promise he was being careful (after all, he did get fired over a single mistake before), and tomura just... immediately believes him. he doesn't accuse him of lying, he doesnt berate him for being careless or dumb or anything. tomura just believes that he did he his best, and assures him that, yeah, it was probably one of their quirks.
in fact, his actual scolding or other responses when his allies have genuinely struck a nerve with him have always been pretty mellow, too. i dont remember a time hes lashed out at or insulted any of his friends (besides kurogiri, but like, theyre Close) the way i often see represented in fanworks.
Tumblr media
when he kidnaps bakugou- which seems to have partially been done out of a genuine desire to help him, in whatever fucked up way tomura thought was best (you have to keep in mind that tomura genuinely thinks what afo put him through was, like, good)-
Tumblr media
- he immediately starts calling him "bakugou-kun" and trying to reach him in a way he thinks he’ll relate to. he subtly compliments him, tries appealing to what he figures bakugous struggles are, and just generally tries to make him feel understood (which may not necessarily be kind in context, but that sort of manipulation requires you to have some understanding of what other peoples motives, thoughts and feelings are, which is pretty good groundwork for kindness.)
Tumblr media
he's very open about it when he likes someone or is impressed by them (you know, the exact opposite of a tsundere.) whether they're a hero, or a child, or a part of his team; he'll compliment and praise people to their faces, even in front of others. he did this as early as USJ. he also didnt seem to mind the league seeing his blatant adoration and attachment to afo during kamino or the aftermath.
Tumblr media
i know its been debated as to whether tomura actually cares about his teams desires, or if hes just using them as a means to an end, but personally i think he really does care. there have been multiple times where he took his teams wants into consideration even when it didnt immediately benefit him. hell, when the liberation army surrendered and offered their resources to the LoV, tomura's first thought was his friends’ wants.
Tumblr media
also this.
Tumblr media
tomura has calmed down A LOT since the beginning of the series, and even back then i think he was calmer than people give him credit for. and you have to keep in mind that, after all tomura's been through, after everything he's been taught about humanity and the world, after afo practically tried to torture all his empathy and affection for his fellow people out of him, tomura is still understanding and patient and good to his friends. maybe that's the bare minimum for people who were raised in a traditional way, but that's not what happened to tomura, and i think it's very meaningful that he still has those traits despite it all.
and I'd love to see this reflected in more fanworks and meta about him! he's such an incredibly complex and well-made character, so it's disappointing to see how often he gets reduced to some very basic ~evil~ traits that he doesn't even have to begin with.

a list of all my dc wips:
(id appreciate any asks about these! maybe hopefully it will increase my motivation to finish them)
Rejected Batgirls AU
Fed up with the Bats for the last time, Steph decides to strike out on her own as Spoiler again. Funnily enough she's not even the only wannabe Batgirl that was struck down in the making and choose to hit the streets with a separate identity. In which Spoiler and Misfit team up to hit the streets of Gotham and cause general chaos and mischief.
Batgirl Jason AU
Jason hasn't had a lot of positive male role models in his life but he's known a lot of kick ass women. That's primarily the reason why he asks Bruce (and Barbara!) if he could be the new Batgirl instead of the new Robin. This works out great in the end because Dick isn't pissed that Robin got replaced without his permission and is instead thrilled to have a baby brother and there's also still an unfilled opening when Jason realizes the weird stalker kid with the camera is his rich neighbor.
supervillains love their kids as much as you do, assholes
the unofficial sequel to a mother's love. in which i explore different villains relationships with their kids and completely change the dynamics.
villains im planning on writing: cheshire & lian, lex & kon, slade & his brood, jason & his many villainous moms (the plot to a mother's love if you haven't read it), talia & damian
every family has a black sheep (and most of them end up on the same team?)
in which artemis is the jason of the wonderfam and forcibly reintroduced to being a member of the family when all she wants to do is stay on her deserted island with the rest of her team. bizarro is the only one that doesnt laugh at her and for that? hes her favourite, no questions asked
i honestly just wanted to see yara flor interact with jason and artemis.
momhood and dadtemis
jason liked to say he took the outcasts (generation outlaws) into protective custody when he took them away from lex. clara likes to say he kidnapped them. shes full of shit though, she's always the first one to fight sasha over who gets to sit at jasons side on movie nights.
jason wasnt robin au
a series centering around jason being someone else's sidekick and just having badass moms
red hoodie au
in which clara, sasha, devour (devan) and dna (dani) are deaged to toddlers and jason is suddenly the single father of four (not that he wasnt before but there was a reason he adopted teens, damnit!)
outlaw zombie au
no powers au
jason got sent to some rich kid boarding school when he beat the shit out of some kid bullying tim. because of his background, the media cracked down and it was the lightest punishment bruce could get away with.
it was supposed to be a year min with no contact but then the apocalypse fucked everything up.
stuck in a boarding school in northern California woods, the outlaws band together to survive the zombie apocalypse
fixing the outlaws au
where i take the great idea that scott l*bell had and then i dont fuck it up like he did and instead make a great outlaws team
red hood is more than just a bat
in which i explore jasons relationships with those outside of the batfamily.
dead robins drabble
the first time jason meets spoiler, she sprains her hand against his helmet, screeching like a banshee about how he tried to kill tim
the first time jason meets stephanie, she pokes his pec and loudly complains about how his tits are bigger than hers
jason knight au
in which sheila haywood wasnt jasons biological mom but natalia knight was

Lets talk about Korra (again)
i already made this analysis, and it was well received but i dont know, i wanna do it again. Why not right? My english is better now than was when i made that analysis so i think  this one will be better written
Tumblr media
What a way to introduce a protagonist. This line and this scene tell us everything we need to know about Korra at that time and everything she knew about herself.
In book one Korra is a 17′s old teenager who have no idea how the world, how life is outside the training center she grew up in and had been locked up since ever. So she is not only naive but have lack of social skills
Oh, and not everyone who lack’s social skills will act like Zuko and Azula okay? Korra can be confident, expressive and outgoing and still have problems when it comes to social skills. One thing dont exclude the other.
“I’m the Avatar and you gotta deal with it” did you guys notice that only for that line we can see the entire opposite on how she treat her role as avatar in comparisson with Aang? And im not here to judge because is two very different contexts.
As far as we know, Korra grew up without friends or romantic partners. Of course, she had her training partners but i believe that they are just that.
So her entarely perception of herself was around her duty as Avatar, she didnt have personal life, she barely was Korra...She was The avatar and thats that.
Tumblr media
So she came to Republic City, it was a mess.
Its funny to see that she have no touch when it comes to simply talk to people, i guess when you grew up away from society, this happens. And yes, she is cocky and had to learn that people arent there to somewhat please her, and she learned that quicky.
Thats why the Pro Bending was important for her character, not only for training but also as means of socilization.
Now lets talk about the villains: Amon and Tarrlok
The two of them represents two differents threats to Korra. Amon represents a threat to her duty as Avatar while Tarrlok represents a threat to Korra as a person.
In episode 4 we have what i still thinks is the darker episode from TLOK. In this episode Amon ambushes Korra in the final moments... Even knowing that they did their best to make Amon’s power and control be non-sexualized as possible still...He have her down on her knews, totally helpless and he even invades Korra’s personal space by touching in her face forcing her to look at him. He didn't have to sexually touch her to violate her.
And right after, the fear in Tenzin voice when asking what happened after seeing her laying in the ground like that, and how Korra is sobing in his arms teeling him how powerless and helpless she felt. I mean...Oh, and she keeps terryfied by him until he takes her bending.
Tarrlok in the  other hand doesnt do much different from his brother and started to harass Korra because he cant take ‘no’ as a answer when Korra didnt wanted to join his task force.
Whats interesting is that if it wasnt for Tarrlok harassement and maniputation, Korra wouldnt have joined his task force and wouldnt have confronted Amon and wouldn't have gone through that terrible encounter.
The thing is that Korra is caught right in the middle of a politcal power dispute over the city, something that she for sure wasnt prepare for it. And both Amon and Tarrlok woud hurt or kill her without think twice about it if that means gain  power. And that was exacly what happened
Tarrlok tried to manipulate her and keep her on leash where he could, and when his tatics didnt worked anymore he alreay had a plan B. Yes that whole metal box in that cabin in the middle of nowhere was made especifically for her and maybe Tenzin if he also get in his way.
In the end Korra lost the physical battle against both but won the ethical battle also against both. She was the responsable for expose both of them as corrupted and hypocrites. But at what price? Amon was able to remove the bends of the Avatar. And without them, how could she be the Avatar?
Remember that her entirely conception of herself was built around her duty as Avatar, be the avatar. After all, everything she was, everything she'd trained so hard for, had been destroyed in minutes. Thats why i still strongly believe that she was thinking about killing herself at the end, nobodys goes all sad and crying to in front of a clifft without thinking about jumping from it.
But she, i think given up the idea and just sit and started to crying when Aang appeared and help her, giving her bendings back in one of the best scenes of the show. So after have everything solve and still managed to get the boy she was in love with, things where great and she “move on”
Tumblr media
In that first half, Korra is unbearable. Everything she learned in Book 1 how to be more mature, less spoiled and all, was thrown in the trash and she was the same "child" of the book one only worse.
Until I stopped and realized that I was also unbearable and childish like this when I had my bad phases of anxiety and depression, as defense mechanism and keep people away. Returning to Korra, and if this way of acting of her was nothing more than this defense mechanism?
Because guess what, i dont think she “move on” from all that happened in Book One that fast, and for add more drama she discovered that was her father idea of keeping her locked up training in that training center we saw in book one and not traveling like avatars before her. No wonder she felt betrayed. And for adding even more drama, people still keep treating her like child, so she was despered for some validation. Something that she found in her uncles arms but she was betrayed by him after.
In the end, Korra again goes through a traumatic experience when she has her connection with past lives destroyed. We see how it affected her when she apologizes to Tenzin, through tears. And Tenzin, as the excellent master he is, tries to motivate her to face Vaatu again (now merged with Unalaq, her uncle) and again she saves the day even after go throught a traumatic event
In the final moments, we see the innocent decision to reconnect the world of spirits and the world of men. And we also see Korra and Mako permanently end their turbulent relationship.
Tumblr media
Book 3 begins in a more mature, we see all the characters being presented in a more mature way and it seems that Korra now has overcome everything that has passed. We have the relationship between Korra and Asami deepening as well
In Book 3, called "Change" we have a great sacrifice from Korra. Her life goes down a notch when she decides to save the new airbenders from Zaheer and the Red Lotus, the only villain until now that really threat her life since their sole goal was to kill the avatar.
Korra won again but this time victory costed way too much. Yes she save the day again but now she was  physically and psychologically defeated. It was too much, she broke.
Tumblr media
Book 4 begins and we only saw Korra in the final minutes and she is unrecognizable. We see that, once proud and courageous avatar, in someone depressed and cowerd. We never have saw Korra like that, even when she was afraid of Amon she wasnt like that.
Korra is afraid of being the Avatar again and her fight against PTSD is still one of the most sensitive, responsable and honest representation of Mentall Issues that i saw, and it was before this subject gain more space on media. It was before people started to give attention to this
I also think that she was having flashs from her other fights and not only the one against Zaheer.
Another thing I think is worth mention is that Korra took 3 years to feel safer and re-embrace her duties as Avatar. It was not 3 weeks or 3 months, it was 3 years. And anyone who suffers from some mental illness knows very well the stigma that is, the fight that is, because everyone wants you to be well faster as possible  when the truth is that many times you spend years fighting against this.  And this is a pressure that falls on you.Imagine, seeing all your friends moving forward while you continue "stock in the same place"?
Only after Korra confronts Zaheer, I think that was a way to show her coping with the trauma, she improves to the point of returning to be the great Avatar we know. I personally still struggles with this scene because put the victim in front of her agressor may not be the best idea but i understand that she needed to see that he was just a man and not the invencible monster her mind was telling her
One of the lines that stuck with me the most was in the TLOK version of the ember island players, the one that made a recap of the show before the finale. When Korra said “I was so naive” just before we watch her narration of her journey, we can feel pain, sadness and strenght. Janet was amazing in the way the delivered this line.
And this fucking quote i saw here on tumblr still is the goat: “The Last Airbender is a story of a boy who becomes a god. The Legend of Korra is the story of a goddess who becomes a girl "
Tumblr media
And I still get really pissed when someone comes to talk shit about  Korra because she is such an incredible heroine and her journey is also so incredible.
The story of how life can be hard and unfair, how it can hurt and paralyze, but there is always a reason to move on. We should always move on.
Korra is definitely not weak, quite the opposite, she is one of the if not the strongest heroine I have ever seen. Korra inspires overcoming

I wrote the whole post and TUMBLR DECIDED TO DELETE THE WHOLE THING
anyways it’s finally here
take
STUFF I DIDNT LIKE ABOUT MYSTREET SEASON 4:
• ok but the animations here are great. actually tho they're so fluid and clear. Credits to whoever made them!!
• and now let’s do the real thing
• ok so first off this is where the actual plot starts. I know that some people were getting bored of the monotony of the slice of life episodes so they liked it. Again there’s nothing inherently wrong with having it but you have to remember that these characters most likely weren’t written to be in a plot and I say this because their personalities are funny and lighthearted. Their clearly meant for comedy. This also makes them redundant for plot since most of them a few characters barely have any development which is probably why like half the cast was dropped. im not sure how far back jess had planned the plot but needless to say most of the characters wouldn‘t be able to fit there. Travis, Katelyn, KC and the sk’s just dipped for the whole season and even when kc, Travis and Katelyn do show up in s5 their personalities really took a beating
• WHERE DID LAURANCE AND DANTE GO?? We never see them after s3. its probably because their personalities were too funny for plot but laurance was a shadow knight in mcd and since the whole of mys is so hyped up on the whole ‘mcd and mys are connected’ thing by all means he should’ve been there too
• it makes sense that since the lodge is jointly owned by the Ro’meaves and the Lycans, Garroth, Zane and Aaron- and by extension, Aphmau- would come along. it make sense that they would ask Lucinda for help- she’s a skilled witch and has been their friend since high school. theyre literally neighbors. it makes NO SENSE to being Kim- a girl whom they’ve barely ever interacted with and whom they barely know- to a place meant for close family to go to. Ok from a plot perspective yes Kim needed to be there but Aphmau logically doesnt know that yet.
• how does ghost/emmalyn even exist?? We’ve seen emmalyn and kenmur in s1 and they’re ok. not dead or anything. Yes I know that this is mcd emmalyn and she is directly referencing mcd Zane when she says that’s the only name she remembers from when she was alive but that raises two questions- first, how can both mcd and mys versions of her exist at the same time?? and second, what exactly happened between her and mcd zane?? It sounds like she either hates him way more than she loves kenmur (or she’d remember him too) that it’s the only name she remembers or its Stockholm Syndrome.
• I feel that since the plot demanded a ghost vessel thing that was the only reason Aphmau brought Kim. it’s pretty clear that Dante and laurance wouldn’t fit the role because of their personalities so she just remade an older character and changed her completely right down to her skin to fit the plot. her whole personality changes with it- look at her I mean she even becomes more open when she talks. Again this only happened because none of the existing characters could fill that role because IT WASNT MEANT TO HAVE PLOT
• no one likes you michi girl take the hint
• seeing liochant brings back meMoriEs
• what was that potion that lucinda made and which Garroth threw on Zane?? its clear that it cured him from the effects of the forever potion but the bigger question is WHY DONT THEY USE THIS IN S6?? Ok yes in s4 Aphmau gets freed by the power of love(TM) but that doesn’t mean you do that for everyone
• as someone who liked Laurance’s character I miss him :(
• ok there’s WAY TOO MANY PROBLEMS with Ein and his villain shtick. Ein is basically some obsessive werewolf yandere boy who has an unhealthy obsession with aphmau and hates Aaron. and the cherry on top is that Aphmau is his HALF SISTER. THATS INC*ST. That’s GROSS. What is it with Aphmau antagonists and not having a clear motive or backstory?? mcd Zane and Ein both suffer from this and it shows. there were definitely better motives to give him- he doesn’t have to be centered around Aphmau all the time!! And even if you don’t want to go to all the trouble of rewriting the plot you could at least make it so that Ein knows that he and Aphmau are related. Maybe he wants a perfect sister instead and he’s willing to go to any lengths to get her there. it would still be dark and serious but it would be SO MUCH BETTER than the current plotline. Also showing the contrast between his pdh and s4 self and then not giving any semblance of an explanation really makes it difficult to imagine where it all went wrong. yes Michael definitely had something to do with it but to what extent?? How much is Ein actually in control of?? Is he under the influence of a forever potion when he turns Zane, Lucinda and Aphmau to his side?? Is he still under its influence when he fights Aaron?? look I get that they can’t reveal everything but leaving out THIS MUCH and not even revealing it in s6 makes it very difficult to accurately nail Ein’s character.
• how is Aaron even revived?? is that Irene?? how is she here and what is she doing here?? Can we have answers pls. also it makes no sense that she saves Aaron TWICE- once in s4 and second in s6. How does death even work here if Irene can just swoop in and bring them back to life. i feel like none of the villains ever count as threats then because you know that a cryptic mysterious goddess who somehow looks just like your girlfriend will revive you.
• how did Aaron even survive?? No seriously how?? We know that there’s no service or wifi up there at the lodge so using their phones is out of the question. i don’t think Lucinda would be able to conjure up a whole medical team for Aaron. and they're on a MOUNTAIN. It takes precious time to get down from it. for context, even if they sent Garroth (since he’s the fastest) down to get help they’d have to wait for him to reach the village area at the base of the mountain, get a phone, call for help, wait for said help to arrive and get Aaron to a hospital. meanwhile Aaron is bleeding out from multiple gashes on his chest made at like point black range that are critical at best and fatal at worst. (his only saving grace is the snow he’s on which would help to numb the wound because its cold but he has like FIVE deep chest wounds and the snow isn’t even on his wounds.) Ya sorry I don’t see how he manages to survive.
• did I mention that I miss Laurance?? • Why is Aaron not at a hospital I don’t even see a ventilator or oxygen mask near him. Listen I’m not a medical expert but those gashes landed straight on his chest which means straight on his lungs and dangerously close to his heart. how is he alive. how is he not choking on blood right now. we know he’s bleeding out- I’m pretty sure one of the doctors even says “Mrs Lycan, we need to draw more blood for your son.” yes he’s bleeding out why is no one trying to idk stop the wound through pressure with a cloth or something?? (Note: it’s been a while since I’ve watched s4, so if I do get anything wrong thats why!!) also why are the werewolf doctors so chill about Aaron’s ultima eyes? like yes they’re doctors they could’ve been sworn to secrecy or maybe they work for the Lycans but Derek is shown to be really paranoid about anyone finding out about Aaron being the ultima. how does he know they won’t tell it to someone else??
k imma head out now-
thanks for reading!! <3 <3

i had that surgery between posting abt tokrev and now n took a break from reading and so the first half of tenjiku arc is fuzzy BUT i did finish it today so heres an  update, ~190 chapters in
ive been vague b4 but this one will DEF have spoilers im talking openly abt so if you havent finished tenjiku arc dont read anymoreeee
i think i started last time abt the emma ch so to start off this one w the emma ch bc. damn. i think besides being absolutely heartbreaking this cemented kisaki as not necessary the enemy, but as someone who has done wrong. kisaki has been the main villain this entire time, but i mentioned this last time, its different being told someone has done something vs seeing it. besides him n hanma beating up chifuyu, everything kisaki has done hasnt had any proof to it. even when he says  something akin to ‘damn my plan is foiled’ its less admission when theres nothing to back it.
but emma changes that. now theres a homicide associated w kisaki. now theres a bad thing hes done right in front of the mc, and for all the viewers/readers to see. now hes equivocated w the death of emma.
i think emmas death matters for two reasons, and one more than the other. the first is the impact it has on mikey. its shown a few times now what death will do to him, like w shinichirou and baji, but w emma it hits different. im gonna contrast her and baji on both points, not to take away from baji’s death, but to add to emmas.
if im not mistaken a majority of baji scenes were only shown after his death. i think it worked and the valhalla arc was  rly well structured, but what this left in turn was a sort of emptiness associated w baji dying. the readers didnt rly know him at all compared to some of the other toman captains, and it rly hadnt been shown yet wwhat his relationship w mikey was like. we see the effect it has in his rage towards kazu, and none of his grieving. even when at bajis grave, its chifuyu that gets a bigger focus than mikey. but w emma, it actively tears mikey up. he struggles to carry her to the hospital, hes visibly shaken when he tells takemichi shes grown cold, and hes absolutely dead inside when hina is crying at emmas corpse and drakon is yelling at him asking why he let it happen. it hits hard, and it shows, and it makes the impact that much harder, that she died in the past and theres no way tofix it. and the realization takemichi has right before, of ‘o yeah ive never seen grown emma come to think abt it’ then bam.
the second and much bigger point is the emotional impact is has on the reader. baji appears and is instantly a source of conflict. he outs himself from toman, he joins the enemy, he denounces chifuyu when questioned abt investigating kisaki. theres no reason to trust him n no reason to think he’ll turn back, and then only thing there is mikey saying he wants baji back.
emma had that amazing chapter not long before, and shes had a few focal points previously, like on her birthday, and on new years, etc. we’ve seen her as an individual first, then as mikey’s sister, and that makes a difference. seeing her even admitting izana was her brother rly hit different bc its emma, the emma that grew up w shin and mikey but had another life before that. that was the connection i kept making, even as izana explained he had more relation w shinichirou, bc it was mentioned by emma first, bc emma remembered him, after all those years. knowing izana was involved w her death made it hit harder. it hits harder in general bc its emma, someone whos been around since the beginning, and been explored more in depth. i felt sad when baji died, but i was destroyed and heartbroken when emma died.
which, going back, makes kisaki in turn absolutely despicable. deplorable. abhorrent. unforgivable. even more so when he shoots kaku, and then izana, thrice, and then izana dies. i still rly didnt. get? izanas motivations, but i started to feel for him thru mikey, when he realized it was izana shin meant when he asked abt a second older brother. kaku getting shot was unexpected and almost worse than emma in the moment, bc kisaki had a gun and even knives were kinda taboo weapons, guns were completely off the table, and he shot five times andinjured three people w every shot. im glad the tenjiku members that stayed behind told police abt kisaki bc the entire time he was running i was like um??? and even B4 that i was like hey no mikey you dont need to stay, yall jus nee to beat kisaki into submission n have him confess bc the gun is right there, the bullets are there, cmon now.
but then kisaki dies/????? the way its set up made me go crazy, thinkin someone did it purposely, but then the driver was a nobody, and then hes still alive after impact???? big surprise honestly. but then his arm n leg are emessed up, n he says he cant get up, n it took me a sec to realize he prolly lost coordination n not jus bc of one leg, like he prolly couldnt sit up at all, then he up n died rightthere.
b4 thattho, was the confirmation. i completely always thought kisaki wasnt a timeleaper, i thought takemichi made atheory but  it was baseless, i didnt rly like it, and then the scene during the vs tenjiku when he says future stuff n kisakis like what?? are yiu talking abt??? BUT THEN then have their standoff in the same parking lot n kisaki says you are a timeleaper and i was like what? he can also??? but then he coudnt! he admitted, was like no in ever could, which means someone else is pulling strings if there is another timeleaper, andmy moneys on hanma, the only other one whos been around the whole time. maybe ill b surprised but i f its not him then theres not another one, imo.
kisaki dying caught me off guard. his whole ten year plan was absolutely nuts, ic ant believe he thought he could go up to hina n straight propose n she would say yes, like honestly would she even remember him at that point? regardless i knew from the cram school chapters that there was some connection there, but i didnt think hina dying was some jealousy-fueled hate revenge plot. wild. but now the “main” villain is dead so what goes from here? we willn see.
i am rly glad kaku made it out. tallying 3 deaths in the kanto incident was so confusing w emma being one of them but the reveal that kaku was alive was rly something. i hope more comes from him!! the setup between him n takemichi was rly rly nice!!!! i wanna see more
i am kinda sad abt coco, bc thesetup of takemichi protecting him from div5 was great, n inui is a permanant fixture in div1 now, so to see coco decide to split was kinda sad. hope he doesnt go down the wrong path. kinda expected to see more knowing how popular him n inui are?? but nontheless
and smiley and angry were so good!! souta and kawata are amazing and souta was not like what i was expecting at all, n now knowing that he cares a lot n is not rly a fighter but iss till in toman jus. rly speaks a lot abt mikeys judge of character n kawatas older brotherschtich that they would let him be vice of div4. seeing what kawata and mitsuya both did during tenjiku arc was rly nice.
and then hina telling drakon andmikey!!! surprised they believed, but it rly will mak things move now. for ex the gun scene where hes abt to shoot kisaki, rly ready to end it, but then hina n mikey rush in. i rly like that knowing that they both know this takemici is from the future, bc they panic but their faith in him isnt lost ,y’know? like they see him desperate, n drakon has a great line abt takemichi’s desperation, theyre not seeing their friend abt toshoot someone n freaking, n they wont judge his sense of character off of that, instead theyre seeing the desperation of someone who wants things to change, and know they can talk him out of it, or if not that then at least ,like, its not going to change what they think abt him. iunno jus. nice little detail i loved while reading that.

Why Mayura is a pointless character, a Season 3 study.
If there was on thing that was one of the main focuses of season 3, for better or worse, it would be Mayura. The new villain of season 3, she worked with Hawkmoth by creating Sentimonsters that would aid the akumatized villains Hawkmoth created, or even creating sentimonsters to battle the heroes themselves.
Despite the mixed feelings on season 3, a lot of people tended to like Nathalie more, especially as Mayura. Her powers were dangerous and the sentimonsters were more powerful than akumas, and people loved it (even though i think she’s just a hawkmoth reskin). Her motivation for helping Gabriel and her risk to use the peacock miraculous despite it literally killing her also made people sympathize with her, or at least liked her character in due to her ‘tragic love’ for Gabriel. And for a time being I did so too.
...However, I looked back. And in doing so i realized, Mayura as a character was... kinda pointless.
So, being the good little knowledge giver I am, I decided to make a post on Mayura, and why her character, despite being rather cool for season 3, was ultimately pointless.
But in order to understand, lets go back to season 2... to Heroe’s Day.
Heroes day recap, just in case you forgot:
So in the season 2 finale, Hawkmoth akumatizes Nathalie into Catalyst, and uses her to amplify his own power, turning him into Scarlet Hawkmoth. Using the negative emotions in Pariss from the illusion he generated with the help of Volpina, he akumatises all of Paris, or at least all the prior villains.
Unfortunately he got his ass beat, and he was reverted back into regular old Hawkmoth. With Hawkmoth on the verge of defeat and no way to repower him as Catalyst, Nathalie uses the Peacock Miraculous to transform into Mayura and save Hawkmoth by generating a sentimonster from his despair to blow the heroes
So what exactly is the problem?
Now, I have my own issues with Scarlet Hawkmoth as a whole. I think while he is very cool, the idea of being able to have that kind of power with no defined weakness is kinda a big issue, and I think he should either have a time limit on his power or have a restriction on the power that prevents him from using it again and again (such as needing a cooldown period between each use, or having it weaken him after he transforms back). Having Chat break the baton doesnt even matter, because if Hawkmoth was actually smart, he could just keep making butterflies from his base instead of being an arrogant prick and confronting the heroes like he’s some sort of king.
But enough about Hawkmoth, lets talk about Mayura.
So, to be fair, I have NO PROBLEM with Nathalie being Mayura in heroes day. Logically, it made sense to have her transform, because Hawkmoth was in trouble and being Catalyst wouldn’t help in the situation. It kind of made sense for her to just act on instinct and transform despite the risks, if it meant being able to save Hawkmoth and prevent him from being trapped. And hey, it worked! And without compromising the established show and its logic.
HOWEVER, I do have a BIG PROBLEM with the fact that Nathalie keeps using the Peacock Miraculous, because... if she just wants to help him, why not just become Catalyst and transform him back into Scarlet Hawkmoth?
Now i get that some people are going to bring up how Nathalie did become Catalyst in the Ladybug episode and it didnt work because she became sick, but she only got that sick after she had alredy transformed 3 times in prior episodes (and possibly more, if we consider the fact that it there are possibly more battles where Mayura had transformed, yet were not shown on screen). It is extremely likely that if Nathalie chose not to transform, or if Gabriel prevented her, she would not have been weakened as much. (Also, Ladybug is the third last episode before the two part finale, so it canonically takes place after all the other times she has transformed into Mayura)
So assuming if Nathalie didnt transform into Mayura again after the events of Heroes Day, it would have made more sense for her to transform into Catalyst instead. As it has already been shown that there is no limit on the amount of times Hawkmoth can be akumatized into Scarlet Hawkmoth, Hawkmoth could just keep doing it again, making it completely pointless for Nathalie to wear the peacock Miraculous and become sick.
Let me reiterate:
Nathalie could just be reakumatized back into Catalyst and help Hawkmoth by transforming him back into Scarlet Hawkmoth.
There is NO LIMIT  on the amount of times Catalyst can re-power Hawkmoth, and there is no RESTRICTIONS either on the Scarlet transformation, such as requiring a cooldown or having a time limit for the transformation.
As such, there IS NO REASON for Nathalie to become Mayura again, thus making the whole subplot about Nathalie being sick yet still being Mayura ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS.
Yeah, this means Nathalie wont be able to do the whole Miraculer and Ladybug episodes, but it doesnt mean Hawkmoth cant make another plan in order to get Ladybug and Cat Noirs Miraculous.
Also, feast could just be a Giant Sentimonster from the start that manages to break free, and is akumatized by Hawkmoth. Just sayin.
Why is this an issue for me?
See, Astruc and his team have the habit of adding in new stuff into the show in order to keep up a ‘wow factor’, but fail to consider how implementing it into the show will have an impact on the plot line. Doing something cool for the sake of doing it is fine for individual moments, but having that ‘cool thing’ impact the logic of the show makes stuff like what I just mentioned Jarring instead of cool.
For example, Timetagger introduced a rule where anyone who is an adult (ie, over the age of 18) have an unlimited timer and can use their power as many times as they want, with training or any other factor having no impact on the timer. While it may be fine for others, its a problem for me, because then the question becomes ‘ why the hell didnt Fu choose someone older’? He could have chosen  teenager who are around 17-18, or give the miraculous to young adults who also have a good choice of character, just like he did to Marinette and Adrien. It would make sense considering Hawkmoth is also an adult with no timer. This wasnt an issue before Timetagger came a long, but with this rule introduced, it suddenly shifts the entire plot so that the choices made prior make no sense logistically.
In writing, the plot decisions have to either make sense, or the choices made have to be used to deliver an important message to its audience. For example, in Aladdin, Aladdin uses his final wish to Free the Genie, when he could have just asked to be wealthy again and have Jasmine use her last wish to free him. But in this case it makes sense, because the movie teaches us that you have to be true to yourself, and in this case, Aladdin’s decision is justified.
Miraculous doesnt have the luxury of teaching important messages, so when Astruc decides to fuck up the continuity or introduces stuff that clashes with already existing logic, it just looks unbearable to look at from the eyes of someone who writes stories as hobby, and hopes to do so for a living.
I get that some people won’t agree with what I’m saying, and that I understand why Astruc wanted to introduce Mayura to the show. But as much as I can understand the reasoning behind his decision, I also understand that in writing, everything must make sense so that the audience does not get confused, and Astruc continually misses that mark. Obviously now the problem about the Peacock Miraculous is now moot thanks to the season 3 finale, but then that means that Astruc should have introduced Mayura in season 4, and not have Nathalie make a decision in season 3 that doesnt have a reason for being made, especially when I just mentioned everything from the season 4 finale.
Here’s to hoping for a better season 4.
Thanks for Coming to my Ted talk. Many thanks to @twin-books for helping me discuss this idea on Discord with her!

gillian jacobs, joel mchale, and any other community cast of interest + 👥
SEND ME AN FC + 👥 TO SEE A CHARACTER I’D etc etc
gillian jacobs
I rly love the idea of her in a Pagliacci role!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like her vibes during her depressive episodes in Love really radiate that suicidal clown energy and I would def play her as a small time comedian who tells herself that she’s constantly chasing near-death situations in search for material and not in search for oblivion.
also she’s been in so many raunchy movies that i feel like she could definitely play a nymphomaniac. and this is maybe an unrelated tangent but,,,  you see a lot of promiscuous female characters in the rpc, but i’ve never seen one who’s actually interested in sex..? usually the trend is female characters who feel unloved and use sex as a fill-in or gateway to a sense of intimacy. and this isn’t any shade at, like, nina’s character zelda or yam’s character nikki (especially because i use the same trope with my character genie), but when you combine all of the muses with this characterization together, i feel like we as a community accidentally enforce the idea that women don’t get titillated and just use romance as a bargaining chip for love?? 🤪
idk maybe it’s just my experience but i always see the love-starved harlot more than any legit horny girls so lets get more of those and lets use gillian jacobs for the roles because thinking about it now i’m pretty sure that even her character on Love has that same characterization. damn
Tumblr media
joel mchale
I’m determined!!!!!! to use him for something!!!!!
my first priority is gwen’s rp americana; originally i thought he would be good for The Professor bt i haven’t had any rly novel ideas to bring to the table for that skeleton yet and i wanna avoid using him in the same career as his Community character. plus i think i’d want to play him in a skeleton that compliments him being like 6′5″ and jacked. hes also rly.. aryan looking… so he could make a perfect Detective if i can get over my hang-ups and play a cop in remotely good faith. but failing that i might end up applying for The Suspect w/ him.
on the flipside, I feel like he’d be rly good for a p.i. character that’s been floating around my head for a long time but whom I haven’t rly had the chance to develop bc I’ve pretty much just been in college rps for the last half a decade. woulda considered this muse for MW if i wasn’t already planning to bring in tom/sal.
that character is a Hunter S Thompson type— tragically optimistic and repeatedly outraged every time mankind disappoints him; constantly trying to believe in the best of people in an industry where he’s dealing with the most depraved individuals. tried to unionize his private investigation firm (love the futility of trying to organize behind the back of the boss of a band of snoops) and wound up getting underhandedly fired so he had to go independent. hardened more in demeanor than heart; numbs the hell of being repeatedly let down with a rock & roll lifestyle that he should’ve outgrown in his thirties. still clinging onto a Gen X obsession with authenticity that obnoxiously makes him roll his eyes at any cashier who smiles and tells him to have a great day. comes across as crass and tactless, desensitized to vulgarity and clumsy when it comes to tenderness despite perpetually yearning for it. compulsively anti-authority to the point of impairing his judgment at times; easily manipulated by anyone who portrays themselves as an underdog. probably comes from a family without a nurturing female presence; could definitely picture him with a businessman younger sibling whom he resents because they’ve “sold out” (read: they’re flourishing financially) while he’s 48 years old and has no sheets on his bed because it’s been a week and he still hasn’t taken them out of the dryer and he keeps passing out on the couch anyway so he’s not really thinking about it.
The biggest struggle in using McHale for this character is that he’s a little too fratty and it’s hard to picture him as this chainsmoking gonzo. but i try to play fcs against type and i feel like he always gets cast as characters who are wealthy/charming/two-faced/detached/nihilistic, and this is definitely as far away from that as i can get. maybe ill do a deep dive into his filmography and find something where he wasnt playing a white collar hunk or douchebag. idk…,,we’ll see. maybe ill use a completely different fc for that character and use mchale for one of the americana skeletons instead?? idk i havent gotten that far yet but i cant stop making gifs of him i’m having so much fun i want to use him so bad idk
one last option is like… ever since those reddit stories got popular, ive always wanted to play a search-and-rescue officer for a national park? and i feel like he almost has forest ranger vibes in the later seasons of community when he has the beard. i dont know where i would play this character but to be fair i have literally no clue where i would play a private investigator either so it’s. yeah
Tumblr media
donald glover
i played him back when i used to write in rly wild and campy/comedic supernatural/genre plots!! the original conceit of that character was a law school dropout who swindled an eldritch demon out of his almighty powers, but had such low motivation in life and such a one-track mind that he never thought to use it for any kind of world domination, and instead tried to use it to win back and impress her by giving himself a promotion to manager of the bowling alley he worked at, or make her life without him seem subconsciously bleaker by doing innocuous bullshit like making her breakfast cereal have less marshmallows in it than usual. i don’t know if i would revisit him, but if i did it might be fun to have him have a jackass genie type of relationship with another character in a 1x1, or drop the supernatural aspect entirely and reimagine him as a burnout who suddenly inherited a huge amount of money, only for it to gradually be revealed that it came from some shady means, or something. i don’t know. fucking love his tag on my blog though

alison brie
I think one of the reasons I resent Annie Edison so much is because you can tell Dan Harmon was too obsessed with her to let her be the butt of any jokes or make her look bad in any way, and so even though Alison Brie is an extremely charming and funny actress, she never got to portray any really human or interesting flaws, because all of Annie’s negative traits were just the kind of corny weaknesses you list in a job interview (she’s just too driven!!! a perfectionist to a fault!!~~) and I think that by season 3 she became the thing every viewer was worried Britta would be in the pilot (boring moral compass of a carrot dangling in front of the male protagonist to motivate his character growth). And it just feels like a waste of an actress who could easily find humor in an uglier character and make them sympathetic. So I genuinely want to do something like that with her, like make her a former activist who completely sold out her morals for a gig as a commentator on a corporate news outlet or working on softening PR for some Raytheon or Lockheed Martin type of company. I also love villains with her mousy-petite-big-blue-eyed disney-faced look who are more perniciously manipulative and unsuspecting, so I’d love to do that.
on an unrelated note: she looks sm like natalia dyer and especially after she got really skinny circa 2016, she would be a rly good timeskip cast for the older, strung-out version of my character max?
wld definitely gif brie in Sleeping With Other People & How to Be Single & Community s5 + s6 if sage and i ever went through with that timekip plot or if i ever found a place to play a conniving daffodil.

Ok so, my thoughts on the VR ending and VR overall as the 6th entry.
Also because most of my thoughts aren't...complimentary im editing the names so they dont appear in the general tag. This also got LONG so readmore.
The Good:
- A//i's character still managed to be the one thing that saves VR as a show for me. Even with all the weird...contradictory plot issues, A//i still manages to be a compelling character who brings up the question of the right to live. I actually do like how he made it so itd be an ultimatum that he loses in either way, even if the ending kinda ruins the weight behind the action (which I will get to in a bit).
The meh:
-the ending was left somewhat open to interpretation which for a show as...empty as this was works out but honestly it was so vague as to A//is fate is that it may as well not exist.
The Bad:
-The main conflict behind the entire show is...simulations. No joke. Every conflict in the show can be traced back to someone doing a simulation and deciding to lose it. Even if they gave the (rather stupid) explanation that AI experience simulations like actual life (which btw the first villain wasnt an AI so this reason doesnt work), the fact that Yu//sa//ku took a bullet for one of A//is robot bodies that he literally has millions of is...just stupid and there solely for the "uwu drama".
-They actually killed A//i off but wait hes actually alive, so like the final duel literally had no purpose aside from...drama??? The episode is called Compromise and yet A//i had to lose just to keep Yu//sa///kus win streak and theres no compromise whatsoever. Yu//sa//ku litetally destroys the CompromA.I.se card so its just, no comrpomise in any way.
-This....wasn't a happy ending??? I have no idea why both the show and the fanbase frame this as a happy ending bc think about it in context: A//i pretty much loses everything, so does Yu//sa//ku who just isolated himself from everyone else for 3 months in order to comb the network for whatever remnants of A//i exist.
- So many of the supporting characters are just...there. Like, there is no side/supporting character who actually has a character arc in this show. Lets go through the list: Ao//i is pretty much the same character as when she started and goes through 2 unnecessary costume changes for a character growth that isnt there because she has literally ONE victory against an opponent that was stated multiple times to be weak and faulty and have her lose and tortured multiple times for no reason whatsoever, G//o had this weird deterioration that may have lead to something but ultimately didn't, Ak//ira is pretty much the same, J//in has ALL HIS TRAUMA ERASED SO THERES THAT, literally the only side characters who have some sembalnce of an arc are Sho//ichi (the best one anyways) from his "betrayal" in S2, and E//ma with her reconciliation with her brother. Outside of that, nothing. Yu//sa//ku, Re//volv//er and Ho//mu//ra are pretty much the only characters with an arc and even then they're not too solid? Which brings me to-
- Yu//sa//ku has been so wildly ooc since the end of S1. Ive seen so many say that his enphasis on bonds and friendship are character growth but actually looking at the sequence of events he suddenly just like. changes completely around his first duel with Ea//rth. Plus, the message of "revenge is good" was always so weird? Like, he got his revenge so all his trauma is ok now and never brought up or explored again aside from within the first 20 episodes. Theres nothing about it after that and its never built upon. The whole point of a revenge arc is to show that its BAD and yet he starts preaching that revenge is wrong AFTER he successfully gets revenge??? And even then its not exactly a revenge as it is more lashing out since it was Ko//ga//mi who was behind it all. Yu//sa/ku was definitely at his strongest characterization in S1 where we see how badly the Lo//st Incid//ent hurt him but S1 had its own share of problems that led into S2 and so many random plot threads that never went anywhere (such as the Anot//her Incid//ents, the Cy//berse deck being irl despite that A//i didnt have a physical body before then, The Bl//ue Mai//den meetup that was repeated by Nao//ki like 10 times in S2 which seemed to be leading up to something but never did, and the fact that theres 4 recap episodes in S1 already spelled some early problems). So much of the supporting cast function to just say "he turned this whole situation around...with ONE card..." i kid you not watch back every Yu//sa//ku duel I GUARANTEE you'll see someone saying hes a great duelist and serve only that purpose. ALSO THE END OF THE SHOW IS JUST MORE DRAMA?? They make him suffer for no reason other than that they can??? What purpose does his suffering at the end serve aside from just "uwu...poor baby..."???
-Re//volv//er is not a good rival. At all. He's so incredibly bland because much like Yu//sa//ku he was at his strongest characterization in S1 where he actually had some solid motivation in continuing his fathers work and being unable to accept that his dad was evil, yet most of that just flies out the window with all the collateral he's willing to inflict with the K//O//H?? All his character amounts too post S1 is "yeah i told you robots are evil and YOU didnt believe me". The most we got of him growing out of this mindset was calling A//i by his name exactly one time and nothing ever again. Also the fact that in the end we see him and his crew working for S//O//L despite the fact that they were gonna turn themselves in for their crimes just. leaves a rotten taste in my mouth. hes not a good rival at all. All he proves to me is that a good design can get anyone to like a character.
- Ho//mu//ra is...there. I literally cant say anything about him because he absolutely has the strongest motivations of the three but then the show jumps through hoops to push him to the back of the other two. He also has a bunch of early victories I do feel are undeserved (ESPECIALLY the A//oi duel that one pissed me off so much). Also the fact that the show just made him Yu//sa//kus friend immediately whereas it took Sho//ichi several months to get Yu//sa//ku to warm up to him just had me :/.
-The speed duels were a cool concept but they just became these huge cheat fests? Seriously Play//Maker uses StAccess literally every speed duel to pull out a new monster from whatever plot holes the writers need to patch up. I am not kidding. You can go back to every single speed duel Yu//sa//ku was in and youll see this. Skills just werent a good mechanic because when a protag pulls a new card its supposed to be representative of some growth/characterization but he stays the same pretty much throughout the entire show up until S2 where he wildly just switches personality. Plus the fact that Que//en could literally use a skill whenever just shows that it was cheating???
- The villains were overall lackluster. Boh//man was the best because Re//volv//er is just flat whereas A//i struck me more as an anti hero. And again: simulations are the enemy. Light//ning ran one and decided to go ham. Kog//ami ran one and decided to go ham. A//i ran one and decided to go ham. The conflicts are all the same and it just makes things happen rather than following a consistent plot thread? I will say that Boh//mans characterization of a hive mind to become perfect does strike my tastes but thats more my personal preference in villains rather than any merit he has.
- This is a bit of a personal pet peeve but I've seen some of the praise to this show about being the "darkest Y//G//O to date so therefore its good" and im just...no? Edge does not make a good show and just because they lightly focused on the tragedy in Yu//sa//kus life (and it IS lightly because its barely touched upon after mid S1) most of the stuff that happens in this show is pretty tame in comparison? The most that happened here was an attempted global hack of everyones minds from S2 and destroying the internet in S1, with a few references to the torture that happened during the Lo//st incid//ent. To compare: the previous series had this huge interdimensional war that, even if they could reverse the carding of people (which makes Den//nis' attempted suicide even more tragic), ended with an entire dimensions full of brainwashed soldier children, a dimension with huge class inequality that was still being heavily worked upon since there were canonically slaves, and a dimension that was savaged by a genocide and total global destruction. Hell, the series before that had a huge war where the arc actually did focus on the tragedys the characters faced and held consequence (even if they pulled a dbz revive everyone at the end). And as far back into the very first series there were even more graphic depictions of war and death? Idk i feel like people are overplaying the edge here just to find a way to complement this show.
Overall:
I'm...genuinely dissappointed. VR really had so many strong starting points but it all just fell apart at execution. Really the only reason I even bothered to watch it as kong as I did was because Im a longtime fan of the series and wanted to give it a chance rather than jump on whatever love/hate train the show has. Its been rated poorly on the JP side and most of the approval is a vocal minority. Just to be clear: this isnt me bashing the show, my opinions are mine and you can agree or disagree to any capacity, and even if a show isnt well written you can still find a reason to enjoy it despite the flaws.
But if Im being perfectly honest? I do not like this show. It's rushed, choppy, has no consistent or clear plot threads, most of the genuinely interesting characters are wasted for the protagonist to look better and he never really does because he ALSO has an interesting idea behind him but it never goes anywhere. It started strong but ended so poorly. Id be angry but im more dissappointed because Ive watched this show from day 1 and wanted to see the good things it has rather than focus on the negatibes but. yeah. This show really had potential and yet it just fell flat.

Lena still doesn't have a logical reason to turn bad not without cancelling out everything she has ever done.
OK, so first off I really enjoyed that episode! After watching the last episode of GOT I needed something exciting! (But let's not go into that s**t show)
So I'm going to focus here on Lena. Now Lena from the start of the episode was against Lex and was trying to stop him. What he was doing was despicable to her. She even goes out of her way to kill Lex (once again being the one who ACTUALLY saved the day).
Now let's remember what Lena said to him "The world will never be a safe place with you in it". This is really significant! Lena has always done what she has done to protect people, humans and aliens alike. Lena has never differentiated between the two. Lena killed her own brother because she knew he would never stop and the world would never be a safe place.
So what can we take from this? Lena is willing to go to the extreme to keep the world safe. Does that make her a squeaky clean simble of hope like Supergirl? No it doesn't, because Supergirl doesn't make those choices. Supergirl believes in the good of everyone and she even wanted to save Lex's life. That's noble and all but locking Lex up only ever results in him getting out and causing more mayhem and death. Lena sees things differently, she knows he won't ever stop so she permanently (for now) stopped him.
Lena isn't the same kind of hero that Supergirl is. One is the Hero and the other is the Anti Hero. But that doesn't make one better than the other.
Supergirl went down the path of Killing her enemy (Reign) and she suffered for it because people she loved died and she had to use time travel. It's not in her to make those hard choices. She was raised with love and positive messages and her cousin being Superman, so that's her mind set.
Lena on the other hand was raised in a hostile environment where you got rid of problems. No one was good and no one was bad it was all about power. Lena didnt have positive messages of hope and love like Kara did. Lena has had to deal with issues the Luthor way because she didn't have a superhero there to do it for her. Superman couldn't even take down Lex without Lena stepping in.
So, Lena made the hard choice and ended the threat to the world and other worlds. Personally ? I'm with her. Who wouldn't have shot Hitler? If someone had would they be considered 'evil' or having the potential to become the next Hitler? Of course not! Christ even Lillian knew Lex had gone to far and she tried to end it there and then, Killing her own child to protect the world. Lillian and Lena made hard choices but they knew they needed to be made, the super friends are lost in truth and hope and everyone deserves a million chances.
So, Lena finds out that Kara is Supergirl. She has every reason to be pissed off to the max with Kara. Enough even to never speak to her again.
You ask why she has a right to be mad? Well it all boils down to Lena being a Luthor. Lena believed that Kara Danvers befriended her because she genuinely wanted to be her friend, something Lena really needed since she didn't have any in National City. So Lena went to find Kara and invite her to things and a friendship grew. Lena even went out of her way to give Kara exclusives and exclusive access to her. She was welcomed into Kara's friendship and family circle and probably for the first time since she was 4 knew what it was like to have a family.
Now also during this time Lena met Supergirl and had no issues with her at all. She helped her, teamed up with her, respected her etc. But then you had their big fight, to Lena she only had a beef with Supergirl.
So now imagine you're Lena and you have just learned that your best friend is actually Supergirl. If I was Lena my first thought would be that Kara only agreed to be my friend because she was keeping tabs on me. A logical thought process. You've been invited into their home, they come to you looking for information, they even introduce you to their family. You think you have been welcomed and accepted when what could actually have been happening the whole time was that they just wanted you in their sights. To keep an eye on you just in case you decide to go dark. Lena could think that this was all true considering she now knows that when Supergirl was hostile towards her accusing her of essentially being bad it was Kara the entire time. Best friends dont treat each other like that secret identity or not.
Now this could have been forgiven if Kara hadn't let it go on for so long.
Lena was told in the worst possible way, she was told by Lex and even shown footage of her being consistently duped and lied to. Lena also knows that Lillian knew so she knows that Kara has kept her and only her in the dark. That's not good, that just indicates that Kara was just never going to tell her at all. A break down in trust right there.
But no matter all of the above, Lena has no reason what so ever to become evil. She has proved and shown since the second she showed up that she is on the side of good. She has shown that she wants to protect aliens, she has shown she wants to protect humans. She has fought against actual villains like Rhea and Edge. She saw her close friend deteriorate into a homicidal world killer and still wanted to save her life protecting her from the DEO and Supergirl because she didn't know what they would do to her. She has saved the world more than once. She has saved the aliens from genocide, she saved an entire city of Kryptonians from extinction. Lena even continued to fight side by side with Supergirl even when they weren't talking. Even when she and Supergirl are friends she has built her special equipment to protect her from Kryptonite.
All of that shows that Lena is a good person even when she's having a beef with Supergirl. So her finding out that Kara is supergirl only warrants Lena being pissed at Kara , never talking to her again and never trusting another person. Lena could just feel like she was being essentially baby sat and used the whole time. But it DOES NOT warrant her becoming villain. That makes no logical sense at all. They like to borrow from Smallvilles Lex and Clark? The difference there is that Lex was always power hungry and was out for just Lex, he wasnt all bad in the beginning but he did do bad and questionable things. Clark simply refused to see that Lex was bad. Kara and Lena are very different, Lena has never shown herself to be anything like Lex or power mad. Everything she does is for the benefit of others. Even the Harun El serum was supposed to be for the benefit of others.
So for Lena to become evil or the villain and give up what makes her her just because she now knows everyone's been lying is a disservice to her character. It also makes no sense at all. She would be better off just kicking them all out of there life and going it alone. She may even choose to be a hero without their interference because she has no trust in them anymore. Lena being a good person was never dependent on Kara, she was good before she eve set eyes on her.
As for her being mad at the others? Still completely justifiable. Dating James? She may start to think it was all just part of the plan to keep an eye on her. He even threw Supergirl under the bus ruining any trust Lena could have had in Supergirl. Lena now knows it was Kara using the people close to her to betray her. She also knows that James was fully aware it was Kara the whole time and whereas he was fine to drop Supergirl in it he was happy to let Lena continue to fully trust Kara while simultaneously distrusting Supergirl. All that sounds so manipulative even if it wasn't meant that way. All those opinions he had? Were they really his or were they just what the Super friends decided he needed to say, did he act following their directions? Was he planted by Superman the whole time? It's a can of worms. Lena will question everything she knows and every conversation she's has with all of them since she arrived.
The others? Well she may not be as pissed but she still has a right to be. Lena has essentially been made the fool of. Imagine being the only one out of your 'family' who doesn't know the biggest secret they have. Lena will just believe that she wasnt trusted.
Why did she not mention it and is still joining game night? Makes sense to let those deceiving you believe that they are still deceiving you. Lena doesn't know what they have or had planned or why they have lied to her, it would be illogical to make them aware when you're not sure you can even trust them. What if Jonn hacks her mind? Best to stay quiet and see how it plays out and now you have all the information when dealing with them. You finally have access to the whole picture and everyone's motivations. She may also be waiting to see if Kara will tell her.
So in conclusion, Lena has every right to be pissed at everyone and never speak to them again. But there is no viable reason for her to become a villain hell bent of destroying supergirl when she has proved since day one and even when treated poorly by Supergirl that that just isnt her game plan at all. To make her suddenly want to kill Aliens or anyone at all makes no sense and is a complete 180 in her character personality and her whole arc. To have her turn into Lex after killing Lex for being Lex? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It just makes Lex right the whole time.

Characters stick around too long
Tumblr media
Even now I still stand by the notion that some of KH’s problems is the sheer refusal to leave a character be. Which isn’t the only reason but I do think it’s one of them.
When the only thing that invests people is their trios then you’ll do what you can to keep them invested. (even if it takes random new rules or convoluted schemes to keep them around)
Which is a bit ironic since they’ve done their best to erase Final Fantasy cameos as the series go on but that is a character attachment rant of my own and I’d like to avoid my own hypocrisy for this post.
Tumblr media
Onto my tangent
Knowing how much attachment and headcanon people have for characters makes me skeptical this will be read beyond here but hopefully I’ll get a few responses. (cause I like to hear calm opinions)
I’ll be blunt, I think there’s a few major issues with writing decisions we all dislike. One is that KH only has one or two writers that even follow along with Nomura’s plans (including himself). Second is that nearly every member of the cast we have is a clone of another.
And most importantly, I feel another huge issue is fans and Nomura’s refusal to let a character just bow out. They keep dragging them back. And I understand that many have a very strong emotional attachment to some to these characters even if I dont know why. (since more traits are fan assigned headcanon or manga added)
Tumblr media
This love isn’t an issue in of itself and, given how little the games will develop a person, you need these manga/novel traits or headcanons. However, this turns into an issue when they deter progression for other things or characters just to appease what is viewed as unfair.
Sure, many of these characters had unfair lives. That tragedy is a big (if not only imo) reason that they got such followings. I also dont think they should just be left, what I think is they needed resolution. And I will grant you, how I’d resolve some of them differently than many others.
I mean, think about it, how neglected was Roxas screentime in Days, Strelitzias everything, or Kairi’s time just to focus on something else? How many random rules did DDD add to “fix” something that already had a clear means in canon to be saved or resolved?
Tumblr media
It’s hard not to sound like I”m hating on characters that, in truth, I feel nothing for at all but any form of opinion or critique these days is seen as “hate”. Gotta love the close minded nature of the internet amirite?
How many of you have sit down and asked the questions like; “would I even care about this character if their story wasnt’ sad?” “what purpose does this character serve now?”
LIke Roxas, Xion, Namine, or Axel. What purpose did they have beyond their initial focus? Axel’s keyblade felt forced, Roxas and Xion just kinda popped back in, and of the four, Namine did the most by contacting Terra. Of course, you can miss that last bit due to how missed Namine’s scene in KH3 is.
What purpose does it serve to put present characters in the KHUX’s story? I can see Luxu or the MoM reappearing in the future because they vanished prior to that war. It’s a bit lame KHUX was remolded to such relevance but that alone is annoying but passable.
But why does Ven have to be from the past? Or Marluxia and Larxene? What does this do? I know lots of people wanted the lives of some Org members explained...even if I can’t understand why.
Tumblr media
At this point I know I’m rambling but I’m truly just baffled by it. It’s adding stuff to things that dont need it while ignoring things that could use it. Kairi is so neglected that anything they try to do now feels forced.
Strelitzia was the first new character in a while, a female at that, and she was killed off two weeks to the day of being introduced. What fucking purpose does that serve but to add to the intrigue of human Marluxia?
Hell, why did KHUX have to keep going? That initial run as a browser game was damn good. It was a self contained mystery story. It explained what a war was, it explained how Sora’s world even formed. Look at it now though, it’s a cycle apparently, there’s timelines all around, and it continues to drag in present cast into it’s fold to artificially grow.
Fuc it I am just rambling with no point now. I should wrap this up, I am sorry.
Tumblr media
At the end of the day I am just horribly annoyed that things seem to happen for no reason or time is wasted to explain a revival and I’m horribly annoyed when someone is ignored to explore a character that’s lived beyond their point.
I believe in resolution and I think so much of KH would’ve flowed better if the story had it.
Edit: For fun, how would’ve resolved it? I’ll list my ramble below-
Chi/UX? That would’ve ended at the initial war. No time traveling, no present cast, that story would exist to explain Luxu, the MoM, and the war. If need be, you could even remake it as a console title but never artificially keep its story alive.
And dont tell me Chi kept going to answer unanswered questions cause we’re now on UX and still dont know anything.
Roxas, Namine, Xion, and Axel? These people had the perfect chance for resolution in DDD. Sora was in a realm that could manifest them. They could’ve been a great tool to show Sora’s darkness grow. Whether they lived on as dreams or Joshua reincarnated them, they should’ve stopped here.
Tumblr media
TAV? I felt Aqua’s story should’ve resolved in KH3 or even the Secret Episode of BBS. I wouldn’t have kept Ven nor Vanitas around past BBS and I still would’ve had Terra (as the Lingering Will) help destroy Terranort. Whether he got his body back or died you can decide.
Xehanort? For the love of anything you deem holy, do not try to redeem him. He was developed ok for a villain till DDD turned him into Aizen and invalidated the series till then. He definitely didn’t need to be passed off as he was in KH3. Just let me end the fucker. I dont care about his wishywashy motives at this point.
And the nobodies? No, never, recompletion is a sad way to bypass death. I hate it and Xehanort (and at this point, Luxu) didn’t even need it to return.

MTH - Mrs Morbucks
Mrs Morbucks is such an interesting and well-written character, and she honestly seems pretty underrated in the fandom. But lemme tell you. Sbj is a genius.
Let's go over her development through the readers' eyes. Her first appearance is in picking up Princess. She's just returned from France, unannounced, and already we can see she's a commanding woman. She immediately cows Princess, a feat very few can manage. I mean Princess did time and bossed other inmates around when she was a 5yo. If her husband was mayor, shed be Ms. Bellum. Highly competent, intelligent, good with people, efficient at cleaning up others' messes, beautiful, and organized. I really wasnt sure what kind of role she would play in the story, and even thought she was a "good guy" in an evil family. Her next major appearances involve her conversations with Brick and Blossom about her charity event, and even their combined stubbornness is no match for her persuasive techniques. She knows exactly what they each want, exactly what will be just enough to make it worth it to them. From that same conversation, we know that she at least has connections on the side of evil, since she'd had tabs on Brick for a few years. But it was still unclear if she was just a neutral party or not. The nature of her character is like a creature in murky water. We see just a blurry glimpse of her, and as we get closer, she begins to take more shape. Another aspect to her nature is revealed when she agrees to finance his brothers' lifestyles in exchange for connections to JS once Brick stages his coup. Even moreso when she makes it clear in no uncertain terms that he owes her. But we don't know precisely how evil she really is, until she disables the barrier for Townsville, and sets a horde of monsters on Brick. In fact, even now she is mysterious, as we still don't know what her motives are, nor what she’s scheming. But honestly, I think she is one of the most insidious and terrifying villains in More Than Human. And that's because she is so realistic.
Mrs Morbucks is the kind of evil Brick wishes he could be. She is not another Mojo or Him, with their ostentatious schemes and obsession with defeating the Powerpuff Girls. She is the puppeteer behind the scenes, an elaborate stage of philanthropy and appreciation for the arts set as a pleasant, gracious coverup for whatever corrupt shit she's up to. Shes basically the billionaires of the world who are actively contributing to its destruction and the suffering of millions, who donate a fraction of a percentage of their income to charity to mask their tax fraud, but with actual aspirations in the literal industry of evil. Brick is a prodigy poster child of evil. And she is running circles around him. She is experienced in handling, manipulating, and maintaining relationships with people at the executive levels of this industry, with all its inner politics, double dealing, and chess games. Probly at the international level, on top of that. Her facade is so masterful, that despite her direct connection to Princess and Mr. Morbucks, and her references to Brick’s past and his benefactor, Blossom isn’t at all suspicious of her. Blossom, who scrutinizes others’ body language, and hardly ever lets her guard down. Maybe she was simply too busy keeping an eye on Brick, but you don’t get to Penelope Morbucks’ level by being sloppy and transparent. She is experienced, and that has given her a major advantage in her dealings, especially with Brick. Despite his own experience, or perhaps because of it, he is overconfident in his own abilities and underestimates her, playing right into her hand.
In literary terms, Penelope Morbucks is very interesting to look at as a foil character to both Brick and Blossom. Perhaps not as a directly opposite foil, but as a partial, more balanced foil. She is very similar in certain ways to the Reds. Blossom, Brick, and Mrs Morbucks are all highly competent, talented, red-headed leaders, with brilliant strategic minds, and an appreciation for the arts. In some ways, she is the best of Brick and Blossom fused into a single, accomplished adult. She shares their core defining personality traits that they share, and a little more of each of them, things they don’t share with each other. But these similarities serve to highlight all of their differences even more.
In seeing her philanthropic efforts, we are implicitly told of her skills in designing, organizing, and directing impressive and large projects, while maintaining an eye for detail. We are similarly made aware of Blossom’s volunteer work, her skills in teaching and directing dance classes, and her complex choreography, comprised of many small moving parts in a cohesive whole. They are both superficially warm to the general public and professional acquaintances, comfortable public speakers, and excel in less-than-casual settings. They are beautiful, with an elegant style, and a commanding yet pleasant presence. From an outside perspective, they are at an unattainable status, extremely accomplished and excellent at balancing an impossible number of activities and responsibilities. Well-rounded does not begin to describe these two. The similarities stop there, though, at their external, public faces and activities. Where Mrs. Morbucks is comfortable in her own skin, internally confident and self-assured, Blossom struggles with intense insecurities and self-doubt. While Mrs Morbucks seems to have a social ease with people of all ages and status, Blossom struggles to connect to her peers, and many see her as unapproachable due to her more formal and polite demeanor. Where Mrs Morbucks has very gray morals, Blossom’s are quite black and white. She does her volunteer work because she genuinely wants to make a difference and do active good in the world, not as a cover for evil intentions. While Mrs Morbucks knows her precise strengths and influence, Blossom is much less sure of how influential she is. She is aware of her strengths in quantifiable areas (ie grades, dancing, etc) and based on others’ comments, but doesn’t recognize her beauty, charisma, popularity, or how her approval/actions/moods can affect other people’s. This may come with time and growing confidence, but she is definitely not a master manipulator.
On the opposite end, Brick’s similarities with Mrs Morbucks are more internal and private. They both have darker sides that they are hiding from the “civilian” public, and it is in that side that they share more of their similarities. They both are well-rehearsed in navigating the complex and subtle dance of diplomacy, rhetoric, and intimidation within the world of evil executives. They both are excellent at negotiating exchanges, understanding their strengths, getting more, and refusing to give out free or underpriced favors. They are skilled at networking and doing their research on potential adversaries. Based on Princess’ reaction to her mother’s return, I believe that Mrs Morbucks just as authoritarian and keen on discipline as Brick is (though not necessarily with the same techniques). Of course, they also share a very relative view on morals, yet an unyielding demand for loyalty, in private. They both have a sense of overflowing confidence, even cockiness, particularly in their dealings with potential clients/colleagues. While Brick does have some insecurities, he is extremely good at ignoring and/or hiding them (at least in most situations - with Him and recent events with Blossom, he’s been slipping up a bit more). By contrast, Brick’s external, public presentation is completely unlike Blossom or Mrs Morbucks. He is sullen, rude, and antisocial, actively warding people off with glares and threats - he’s also unattainable and unapproachable, but for completely different reasons. He is able to be charismatic, but often opts to ignore or intimidate others rather than engage with them. In Townsville, and as a professional, he tries to keep a low profile in public awareness, rather than draw attention with large events, magazine articles, or press conferences. He does what he needs to for his classes, but generally tries to hide his full potential and intelligence. He doesn’t even do any extracurricular activities unless literally bribed to. He is quite public about his cynical view of human nature, and doesn’t even attempt to look like a “good guy” through charity or philanthropy. And that’s where his inexperience really shows. Penelope Morbucks knows that it’s not enough to keep a low profile when you're on top, you have to use misdirection and put effort into your public mask if you’re in it for the long run.
If Brick and Blossom are 2 sides of the same coin, Penelope Morbucks is both sides of an antique coin of the same kind. And that is exactly why she’s such a brilliant and intriguing villain. She has all of the natural talents and learned skills of our 2 most overachieving characters, with much more experience, more money, more connections, and superior manipulation tactics. Dunk her in chemical X and she’d be unbeatable.
