some time ago I read that you would have liked to see more interactions between Genya and sumi nakahara, could you tell us how you think there would be a sibling relationship (not necessarily Genya seeing sumi as a substitute for his lost sister but if you want to rub salt in the wound)?

...GUUUUUHHHHHHH I WISH I WISH I WISH THEY COULD HAVE HAD MORE TIME TOGETHER, LOOK AT THIS, SHE CARES ABOUT HIM SO MUCH AND HE CAN'T HANDLE IT

Although this is a manga chapter title page, there is a chapter in the second light novel which takes place right before this, in which Genya has protected the girls from an unruly patient (in his in rough way), and Sumi has overheard Genya apologizing his brother in his sleep. I really like how quickly they found fondness for each other through a single conversation; Sumi seeing past Genya's thorny exterior and and deeply appreciating his struggles, and Genya finding her someone that he could expose his pain and shame to and accept her kindness. Being able to converse about things like that and showing mutual concern each other's well-being is probably as close as they get to feel to having siblings anymore. In writing a post-canon fic which gave Sanemi and Sumi a moment to connect (with Sumi pressing him about if he and Genya were ever able to reconnect), I wound up writing her as having had two old brothers who doted on her, not so that she could see them in Genya or Sanemi or anything remotely like that that, but that she could say Genya was wrong, her big brothers were the best in world. Sumi, Kiyo, and Naho are all supposed to work like one unit, but since it's stressed that they have their own last names and histories, I like the idea of their individual histories having been very unlike their estrogen-leaning hospital home. In Sumi's case, it was nice to give her a foil to Genya & Sanemi immediately thinking back to their little sister once they hear her name.

With limits, of course--Nakahara Sumi bears no resemblance to Shinazugawa Sumi, whether in appearance or personal experience, and I didn't want Sumi to see any resemblance between her (entirely made up for fanfic purposes) older brothers and the Shinazugawa brothers. But the fact that the connections were so surface level in the first place is what makes it so endearing that Sumi and Genya found a connection with each other through so little of an impetus. Although he was too flustered to be able to handle all her care an attention afterward when she feels enough closeness with him to sit on his bed and try to force-feed him, Genya had a keen sympathy for how she had lost all her family and how much weight that gave to her advice, that he must make amends with Sanemi.

And in any post-canon happy ending AU, I always like having Genya and Sumi continuing to get along as something similar to siblings, though like you said, they'd never see each other remotely like replacements for who they once had. For example, in this very-indulgent "nothing bad happened and no one ever died" AU fanart set, I had Genya giving Sumi a piggy-back ride, because that was something that stayed lodged in Genya's memories about his relationship with Sanemi. And Sumi, that's got to be extra fun because Genya is extra tall. It would mean they're close enough that Genya doesn't feel bashful, though!

If I were to continue developing an AU in this direction, it would be fun to see Genya be like the big scary brother who terrifies all of Sumi's dates (after all, she'd be a teenager when Taisho Roman is in full swing). Someday at her wedding he'd be a mess with how happy he is for her (but also said to see off someone who has become like family), but it would probably come off as him looking pissed off at her groom. Sumi's poor groom. Eventually that poor groom would gain an Oniichan, but it might take a while. Sumi would had totally forgotten by that time how scary she and Naho and Kiyo used to find Genya, so she probably wouldn't have much patience for her husband not seeing how kind Genya is.

But, with that not being the case, back to the post-canon fic I wrote which tried to stay very inline in with canon. In that fic I had Sumi be the one to brazenly approach Sanemi and ask if he and Genya made friends again, and if not, she'd have been ready to give a former Pillar an earful on Genya's behalf. After all, Genya told her how nice Sanemi is (and she already recalled Kanae being friends with him), so she fully believed she could get away with it. That brazenness is what it takes for Sumi and Sanemi to be able to make a connection and do a little mourning together, but not too much, because at that point in the fic, Sanemi's still not ready to face his own pain. However, he takes her as readily as stray dog in the street and she takes to him as well as she did Tanjiro. If they were to continue that relationship, Sanemi would probably still kind of keep her at arm's distance and not want to get on sad topics with her, as if it's more fun to have a shortie around to tease. Far off in the future (...if he were to live that long. Thanks, Mark), he probably would scare the pants off her groom on her wedding day too, but more or less on purpose. They'd wind up with mystery gifts of matcha and sweets around the house anyway.

Do you ship scalia or is it just something that you don’t mind seeing?

I ship scalia in a vacuum. I think it's a sweet dynamic with a lot of potential. Shelley and Tyler do have a lot of chemistry, so I can see why the writers wanted to explore that pairing. They have a very similar awkwardness/cluelessness that feeds into each other well (I think the same can be said about stira, which is a ship I like in a similar way, actually even more because of the tricksters/kitsune angle in their dynamic, and I also think there's some sciles meta in there about how they both got girlfriends that are so similar to the other lol) and I'm happy with how they really utilised that during their scenes in 6B. I've only seen the season once, so I can't even recall what the scene was about, but I remember the scene that sold them the most to me as a couple was that Malia face palm one lol. Where Malia is trying to communicate something but they're both just totally clueless.

This one:

The problem is the circumstances of when this pairing was explored. The messy way stalia broke up, the unfair way Malia's feelings about st/ydia was completely disregarded. Granted, this makes a part of me go "Stiles unfairly dumped you and got with Lydia without asking how you'd feel about it? Fuck yeah you should get with his best friend! Give him a taste of his own medicine! Fair is fair!" but that's more about me being a Malia stan than having to do with any ships lol. When viewing the show as a whole, it's just impossible NOT to compare scalia and stalia, and when you do, scalia so obviously comes in short.

Like, every single argument I can come up with for scalia potentially working better is disproven by what stalia was in canon. Like, "oh maybe Scott could help her with her werecoyote struggles and do it better because as a werewolf he knows what it feels like" but we literally saw Stiles help Malia with that and he did it perfectly! After hammering in for 2 and a half seasons that Stiles is Malia's anchor I can't see anyone buying how Scott could just replace him in that aspect. Also "Scott is so good and anti violence that he could help Malia get over her kill first ask questions never coyote thing in a way Stiles can't because he's very similar to Malia in that regard" doesn't work for me either. We saw throughout their relationship that Stiles and Malia felt the best about their violent tendencies and trust issues with each other because the other one could understand. They could tell each other "You're still a good person" and the other could actually believe it for once. They opened up to each other and told the other aspects of their trauma that they never discussed with anyone else! "But when I came through it, I learned something else... Control is overrated." "I said, 'I wish you were all dead.'"

Then there's the scira of it all too! I'm not gonna go too much into it since I'm mainly a stalia stan lol, but the way Kira was pushed out of the show is honestly so horrible, and the fact that scira was so huge and how Tyler and Arden kept talking about how in love they were AND the fact that the writers said that they didn't actually break up and Scott was gonna wait for her... it's all very frustrating. Add the fact that Shelley is a white woman and Arden isn't and, yeah... it's all very bad.

Plus the way season 6 not only sucked in general, but also how the writing was really bad at actually selling st/ydia and scalia. I really like what @bericas said in the tags of this post: #like on a real level#i just don’t understand what they wrote it like this#like#why would you do this#6a outside of the narrative telling us stydia showed stalia and scydia like crazy#and it’s so weird#if you’re gonna lie to me at least do it well. If they really wanted to make the endgames make sense, they really needed more time to do it. You can’t just decide to completely change your character dynamics for the last season of the show. Don’t know what the writers were on during that decision.

TLDR: I think they’re a nice ship in theory but they just don’t work in canon.

Yeah, I am begging for the writers to let Riven NOT be the cause of every single problem. Helia is totally prone to make mistakes on his own, pushing most of the blame to Riven is such a cop-out. Esp when the lesson should be that mistakes don't define Helia's worth as a person at all. If Riven does screw up, let him be apologetic!!! He has shown he has the capability to apologise!!!

Also yessss it would make more sense that the rumour be that Helia was a prodigy who screwed up and left RF. It adds to that layer of mystery Helia has and makes it more rewarding when the rest of the guys grow to trust him

Helia: Maybe Brandon should be leader since he's the ONLY one who hasn't tried to put Riven in a chokehold at least once.

Timmy: But I haven't?

Oooo the idea that Brandon's struggle is not rly seen bc of the subtlety of is interesting, tho I wonder abt the logistics of it working in a episodic setting. Istg all these sound v prime for a specialists fanfic or rewrite haha

Yeah Brandon is probably an outlier when it comes to reacting to fuck ups. Tho, I don't think there's much opportunities we see that if i rmb correctly. Only times I can think abt is S4 when mitzi kissed him and he just awkwardly walked away from the argument, some moments from S6 when he confronts Stella, and him apologising solemnly when he breaks up w stella in the comics. And maybe the funniest moment: Him washing dishes when he hasn't resolved things with Stella yet, and there is an unecessary amt of awkward tension. For DISHES.

Brandon bias <3 <3 How he ends up being sexy haha funny man with this kind of backstory + the most serious way of dealing with conflict is a mystery to me.

Hmm I did consider that Erendor prob wouldn't like Sky being friends with Brandon. The only justification I came up with is that (if this info i saw from the magazine canon) Brandon's parents are close to Erendor/Samara, as their advisor/handmaiden respectively. I don't think they respect their courtesans much, but that connection might have given Brandon some leeway to be friends with Sky.

My hc before I knew his family info was q similar to your idea I think? That Brandon was the son of Erendor's longtime bodyguard. The fact that his father could easily train him + similar age + accessible and "acceptable" to let near Sky would prob make Brandon a good candidate

ALSO YES we need to acknowledge more than Nabu was prob left alone with his servants and guards!!! I feel he defo snuck out alot, which is why he learnt invisibility spells and changed his name. Might also explain why he has a tendency to babble sometimes abt things he's interested in (getting trapped in a cage is NOT a good time to talk abt music my man), mans prob happy to be around ppl his age who are willing to hold a conversation with him.

Ok i should have elaborated more. Brandon IS a child soldier, but I was imagining the duration that he's been put under this job. 15 is a good range but I hc he might have started younger at around 10-12? Idk maybe this has smth to do with the S6 thing i mentioned Brandon keeps mentioning "since we were kids" as if it feels rly long ago

Also I didn't know where to put this but I looked back at the S2E14. Brandon going "I've been here before" when the gang are inside Yoshinoya's prison cell?? Brandon what??? Are you ok????? I don't like that implication!!

I think Sky should defend Brandon more. Yknow, as a treat, for both of them.

Happy STS! I saw this question in an ask game and I really like it so I’m passing it along.

If your characters had met each other at a different time in their lives what would be different? How would it change their relationships? Their character arcs? The story?

Hmm that is an interesting question.😂

Skye and Zephyr struggle with the same thing of perfectionism and its related self-worth problems, but at different point in their lives. In canon, Skye is further ahead in hers, knowing that mistakes are a necessary and welcome part of the learning process and living and it's something she wants to pass on to her students. Zephyr is at the point, when he sees harmony in himself, but doesn't actually recognise the issues he should be at peace with.

If they met on the contrary with Zephyr's arc finished and Skye at the beginning of hers it would be a lot different. She would be more withdrawn and stressed out and arrogant, a loner out of choice, scared to step out of her comfort zone for anything out of the risk of not being good at it from the start and god forbid someone saw that.

She would be paralysed by indecision, every path leading to a way to embarrass herself, as she would be running out of her genius child pride into a not so exceptional adult, not being able to ask for help.

Zephyr at the end of his arc would be a welcoming calm presence, having found his way and place to help others, with a refreshingly open and friendly attitude towards imperfection, mistakes and denial, especially his own, which would make him easy to like and relate to. The kind of humble but self-assured competence and willingness to be wrong in a lot of new things. He would recognize what he once have felt and done in her and try to help her immediately.

I'm starting to doubt their relationship would develop, have their roles been reversed XD.

Zephyr would see her as a project to fix, a student to support and if he was at least a bit older than her, she would allow it, but she wouldn't have been able to forgive him for seeing her in her imperfect form, before she grew into herself. Too shameful of an experience. He would be welcome mentor, authority figure and advisor but not a romantic partner. She would want to start fresh with the knowledge she acquired.

But since in canon they meet with her at the end of her arc and him at the beginning of a similar one, she feels like she has lots to offer, being a person she can live with. Plus she knows what she is looking for and with Zephyr understanding and admiring her true self, and offering the strenght, protection and intellectual stimulation she seeks, they can work. If he were to break down and need her help, she could totally handle it and support him through it.

If they met, when Zephyr was already struggling or felt lost, they wouldn't work out either, cause he would have chased her away. It's because they develop closeness before his break, that he can accept her help.

Dream SMP Stimming HCs because it’s wiggle time (/rp)

Tommy

He toe-walks. He is a Big Man and toe-walking makes him even bigger.

He repeats words that sound Good (“Baba” for example).

He hums and sings, though this one he really only does when he’s by himself or with people he trusts (so basically Tubbo and Ranboo).

He uses chewelry quite a lot. (Inspired by cc!Tommy saying “I have such active teeth” and other things involving mud that I can’t remember.)

He runs his hands through his hair, especially when he’s stressed or flustered.

He picks at his lips and the skin around his nails.

He also bites his nails.

Leg Bounce ™

Listening to music, of course.

He loves petting and hugging animals, including ones that really should not be pet or hug. He used to run his hands through Friend’s wool often.

He canonically sews!! So depending on his mood he might dive into a six-hour sewing extravaganza or he might just mindlessly string the same pattern for a while.

Tubbo

Tubbo makes random noises or modifies his voice (usually makes it higher pitched or more guttural). He likes to screw with his friends and freak them out with this one (like when cc!Tubbo uses autotune while talking to Ranboo).

He uses stim toys quite a lot. Rubik’s cubes, fidget cubes, tangles, something to keep his hands occupied. He makes a lot of his own toys from leftover building and redstone materials, and he makes toys for his friends as well.

He adjusts his tie as a stim. He picked this up during Manberg and it carried on until the end of his presidency. After he founded Snowchester and stopped wearing a tie, he continued the motion, but now he just grabs onto the collar of his shirt or jacket.

He sings as well, often bursting into song if he hears so much as a word or two from a song he knows.

He pokes/taps the tips of his horns.

He runs his fingers across his scars, since they have a different texture from the rest of his skin.

When he’s stressed or angry, he squeezes his hands into very tight fists and he grinds his teeth.

Ranboo

Ranboo already canonically stims!! Picking up, holding, and placing grass blocks is a common one. Pacing when he’s stressed and enderman noises are also ones we’ve seen. I can’t for the life of me think of any others but I know there’s more.

Raptor hands. I rest my case.

The little “bow bow bow” noises that cc!Ranboo makes when he listens to music.

He just loves listening to music. So much. All the time.

Petting his cats and listening to/feeling them purr. Major comfort for him.

Once again similar to his cc! counterpart, he’s very good with Rubik’s cubes. He once casually solved a dodecahedron in the middle of a Butcher Army meeting.

Ranboo to me seems like the kind of guy who likes “bigger” (more noticeable) stims but is afraid to do any of them.

For the sake of keeping these headcanons as wholesome as I can manage (and believe me, I’m struggling), I’ll say that he does eventually become more comfortable with his stims and he allows himself to do things that are more noticeable (which nobody minds, of course).

Jumping stim!! This can only be done outside or well below the ceiling because good lord he goes high.

Singing, and usually very loudly.

Shouting. Just. AHHHH.

Alivebur

He prefers auditory and visual stims to other types, though there are a couple exceptions.

Watching the sunrise and sunset becomes a favorite visual stim after his revival.

Sparks and small flames are very good as well.

He loves rubbing his thumb against the edges of book pages and flipping the pages quickly (I don’t know how to describe it but it’s a common thing a lot of folks do).

He changes accents at will. If he spends too much time around you your voice will be stolen.

You know that one time Wilbur cheered “yeah daddy Dream” in the middle of lore? The way he swung his arms when he did that? Yeah, that. That’s the stim.

Moving his fingers as though strumming an instrument, humming, singing, tapping, swaying to music, even moving his hands around like a conductor. Tons and tons of music-related stims.

Ghostbur

He likes physical stims much more than Alivebur does.

Raptor hands. Raptor hands my beloved.

Oversized sleeves with raptor hands.

Flappy hands with oversized sleeves with raptor hands.

Popcat stim. He seems like a popcat kind of dude.

Petting and hugging Friend.

Assuming blue is a liquid or powder, he likes rubbing blue between his hands and fingers. If you headcanon blue as being more like a putty, you could say he plays with it as such.

Wilbur’s love of music carries over through all of his iterations, so all the previously mentioned musical stims apply to Ghostbur as well.

Phil

Popcat!! Pop pop pop.

“My name is nugget, I’m a big fat chicken.”

Flapping and fluffing up his wings.

Petting the crows and giving them little head scritches.

Those “boosh boosh boosh” and “bap bap bap” sounds cc!Phil makes when he’s building.

Jack

He changes accents, though it’s often involuntarily. I like to imagine he’s in the middle of some really angsty argument but halfway through his voice gets stuck in a Scottish accent and he can’t fix it.

“What did she say?!” “What the dog doing?” “I don’t wanna slow dance, in the DARK—” “Boy what the hell boy.” …and other memes as vocal stims.

He also sings a bit, though not as often as others.

Niki

I guess it doesn’t necessarily count as a stim, but she totally stress bakes. And happy bakes too.

If she’s not actively baking, she likes watching baking compilations. Cake and cupcake and cookie decorating videos.

Other visual stims too! Calligraphy, soap cutting, and fuzzy animals are some of her favorites.

She isn’t able to, but she really wants to pet Steve. He looks very soft.

She’s gotten permission from Technoblade to enter his Hound Army’s kennel whenever she pleases and pet all of the dogs. They all love her very much and whine when she leaves.

Eret

They sketch random buildings and maps, or doodle on the margins of their proper designs.

Ferret chat!! Elongated fluffy things!! Soft bois!! Pet the soft bois!!

She listens to music all the time. Multiple “he can’t hear us he has AirPods in” jokes are made at her expense (which she always finds funny).

Ponk

Taste and smell stims! Lemon scented/flavored things are her favorite, but she also likes orange, peppermint, and cinnamon as well.

Weighted blankets his beloved.

“Nobody wanna see us together, but it don’t matter no, cuz I got you”

They love baking! They “taste test” and “check for poison” so much they have to make slightly larger recipes to compensate.

Here's a ton of design notes no one asked for my lost miraculous au/rewrite villain designs and some other notes about them as characters in relation. Since it's fun for me and I'm just here to indulge myself lol

I really wanted to attach the Graham De Vanilly family and Agreste family to theater and different forms of art. They're honestly just clowning and all stuck in their own heads making a show literally no one else needs to, or wants to be involved in lmao

Hawkmoth Notes

I might redesign Hawkmoth at some point, but I'd really like to keep the left eye or face hidden since it honestly reminds me of the phantom of the opera. He sees himself as like him a lot. If he had the left eye hidden as Hawkmoth, and not just Shadowmoth, in a way it would also be an interesting cue to the way he allies with Nathalie and yet only for Emilie's fate. When the viewers see her as Mayura with her left eye hidden introduced in s3, it would show her as an extension of Hawkmoth rather then her own.

"Phantom Fox" Felix Notes

To elaborate on some things here:

The original colors read as too similar to heroic for me. By making the orange and brown tinted red especially it reads a bit more as "villain" now, and it connects to his mom's red design. Even though they're all villains working together I think it's important to show that split of "Amelie and Felix" and "Gabriel and Nathalie" initially and visually as two teams with tension that eventually fall apart. ("Fall apart" being Nathalie getting sick and Felix getting hurt so that Gabriel and Amelie have to work together more).

For the comparison to Chat Noir I tried to make their energy similar? Technically the design only has their hands be the exact same, but I like to think that represents how they do things very similarly when using a miraculous. Felix is still cold, snarky and a trickster like his own civilian life, but he let's himself be so overly theatrical and silly as Phantom Fox. I'm also adding in that as Phantom Fox, he can be rash. Kind of in a way that's different from Chat Noir and can be a struggle for Ladybug, because he makes detailed plans that are smart and do work. It's just emotionally rash plans since he gets caught up in the feeling of superiority. He won't register the emotional or physical cost on himself or others until after it's finished. Chat Noir and him still hate each other and are enemies yeah, but I just want to emphasize the fact Felix and Adrien could totally be friends and share a lot of traits in this au. They could be the family member that support each other the best. But they're on opposite sides both at home and as super hero/villains.

"Madam Mäuse" Amelie

Amelie is kinda hard to make designs for (mainly because I struggle trying to make her appear distinct from Emelie). I really loved watching ballerinas in the theater as a little kid as a Christmas tradition though, mainly being the nutcracker and I couldn't get the mouse ballerina concept out of my mind. I love the idea of Amelie being involved in musicals a lot in her civilian life in this au, while her sister Emelie took movie roles like in "Solitude". She rarely gets involved as an actor or dancer herself anymore (she rather focus on Felix) she does help local kids get involved in theaters, musicals, or learn dance. She encourages Felix towards theater a lot but he doesn't want to deal with that many people usually. This also helps set up the idea of the miraculous class having to do a school play episode.

"The Monarch" Emilie Agreste

My favorite to make out of them!

Not as much to add here, but! I really want to drive in that butterfly aspect since canon hawkmoth doesn't do it for me lol. Part of that's okay with me in this au because Emilie with or without the mask is like a butterfly. The? Coffin? Tube? Garden Thing, Gabriel has for her body in canon serves more as like a cocoon in this version. A lot of her character arc is focused on rebirth emotionally when she's finally revived. She's always been manipulative slightly but now that Adrien has his own life while she has such a larger need to regain control she's just. dissociated from the reality she's been shoved into and isn't sure what to do but play the role of monarch she's been offered by Amelie, and by extension regain control there.

Here’s Why Franmaya Works

As one of my favourite ships, I have to admit that Franziska and Maya as a pairing is a little bit obscure. It has plenty of shippers, but taking the games at face value, nothing jumps out at you to make you think “oh, they might be a potential couple”.

But upon closer examination, there really is some potential there! Here’s why.

1. Maya’s Canonical Admiration for Franziska

In 2-2, Maya is amazed at how Fran’s done so much while being the same age as her; this ties more into her own feelings of uselessness, but sets up a scenario where she genuinely admires Franziska.

This comes out in the anime too, where she expresses sympathy for Franziska “fighting all alone in America”.

Although Franziska does everything she can to look “perfect”, deep down she’s quite insecure about her role as von Karma’s heir. Someone who supports and cheers for her unconditionally would be really good for her!

Additionally, if you present Fran’s profile to Maya in Big Top, she says that if Franziska wasn’t so mean, she thinks they would get along quite well- and given that Fran’s been quietly undergoing that development since JfA, she and Maya could probably grow close given the opportunity.

2. Franziska’s Canonical Soft Spot for Maya

The most obvious example of this is in 3-5, where she stays up all night at the freezing cold Inner Sanctum, trying to break the trick locks with Iris. Ostensibly Franziska shouldn’t have any further investment in the case; she doesn’t owe anything to Phoenix or Maya, and was presumably called away from her other responsibilities to help Edgeworth out, but she still puts herself through the discomfort and hassle of solving the locks for a whole day and night so that she can guarantee Maya’s safety and help put the case to rest.

Another, often overlooked moment is in the case’s denouement, where Franziska is so dismayed by Maya glaring at her that she apologises (to Larry, of all people), and agrees to model for his picture book- and it’s confirmed she went all the way through with it in SoJ!

3. Their Shared Burdens and their Narrative Parallels

Despite acting so differently, the struggles that Maya and Franziska go through are incredibly similar: both of them are the heirs to a dysfunctional and heavy legacy, Franziska feeling pressured by her father’s crimes and the drive to be perfect and Maya having to be responsible for Kurain Village when she comes of age, struggling to deal with Morgan’s jealousy and impossible expectations, as well as the village’s ruined reputation.

They both undergo great tragedy: Franziska loses the father she deeply admired, and is confronted with the harsh reality that he was never perfect, and (although she never truly believes Miles is dead) loses her brother, in a sense; Maya loses her sister Mia and even gets accused of her murder, as well as losing her mother- twice.

The way they deal with it is very different, but they undeniably have similar life experiences, and can be considered as parallels to each other. They’re the same age; Maya even calls herself Phoenix’s “big sister” a few times in T&T, similarly to how Franziska calls Edgeworth her “little brother”. If they were to become close, they’d easily be able to empathise with and understand each other’s struggles. They’d both benefit: for Maya to be with someone like Franziska who will take her seriously and honestly admire her, helping her out of her insecurity, and for Franziska to be with someone like Maya who will encourage her to be more light-hearted and indulge in her mischievous streak from time to time, as well as being able to assure her that nobody is perfect and she deserves love anyway... It would be an ideal arrangement for the both of them.

4. Their “Opposites Attract” Dynamic

Despite having similar struggles and common life experiences, Franziska and Maya are totally different people. Franziska is serious, hardworking, intimidating and easily frustrated; Maya is light-hearted, more playful, approachable and gets depressed more often than she gets angry. Their flaws and strengths complement each other perfectly- Maya’s endless enthusiasm would encourage Franziska to let her hair down a little more, which in turn would help Maya see that nobody is flawless or untouchable and help ease her insecurities. Their personalities are complementary enough that they could easily rely on and improve each other, but not become dependent on each other.

And besides, the idea of Franziska frantically trying to appease Pearl in any way she can so that she’ll approve of Franziska is objectively hilarious. Plus they’re an excellent complement ship to Narumitsu!

It’s definitely not the most obvious pairing in the franchise, but it’s still a ship that has a lot going for it and could develop into a genuinely compelling romance with a lot more nuance and complexity than it first appears to have- it’s no wonder it’s achieved the recent popularity it has.

Naruto – He is a bit sad when he hears the news. He definitely wanted to adopt at least one child, so he’s not sad about never having children, because he knows he still can easily, but he was kinda really looking forward to being pregnant. He wanted to know what it was like, all the things he’d seen other couples go through (ultrasounds, cravings, birth classes), and it’s a little startling to have that dream suddenly ripped away from him. He’s not comfortable with any other conception methods, so he adopts all his children. But, when he’s cuddled up with his three adopted children, he can’t believe he was ever upset about not having biological children, and the thought that having biological children would have stopped him adopting all of his current children makes him feel sick because he can’t imagine a life without all his precious pups. Where would they be if he didn’t adopt them? Naruto decides that it was better this way, in the end.

Sasuke canon – Sasuke is very conflicted, at first. He had been clinging onto this dream of reviving his clan since he was a child, but now the only person he could ever tolerate having sex with can’t give him that… He’s not getting a donor, no way. There are no orphans from his clan to adopt. He honestly doesn’t know what to do, there seems to be no good answer. In the end, I think he would decide to just never use birth control and see what happens. The chances may be extremely slim, but he’s not comfortable with any other conception method, so it’s this or nothing. It might actually be quite a good experience for Sasuke in the end, because he is finally forced to examine some of the goals he clung to as a child to keep himself from breaking down and see if they are something he ever actually wanted. He might think about what life would have been like with his own pup occasionally, but he’s never been as happy as he is with his alpha and that is more than good enough for him (but not good enough for the council who harass him about having as many children as possible, constantly.)

Sasuke non-massacre AU – He doesn’t think it’s a big deal tbh. He got himself sterilised while he was in his early twenties because he didn’t want to deal with the possibility of getting pregnant, and he had to fight his clan for it! So, he’s glad that you won’t have to do that same, but it’s easier for alphas anyway. If you’re in a relationship with him, then you obviously don’t want pups, so he doesn’t think much about it. He’s like “Oh, okay,” then ends the discussion.

Shikamaru – This might be a problem… His child will be the next clan leader and they have to be of his blood, as is clan tradition. He would probably have to go for a donor to get pregnant, probably some distant clan member he’s never met before, but he feels really weird about it. He doesn’t like it, but he bites his tongue for once and gets on with it. He keeps it a secret from most people. The other biological parent is a clan member, so he just lets people believe that Shikamaru’s Nara genes were super strong, and that’s why there’s none of his alpha in their pup. I don’t think he would ever tell his pup that they weren’t biologically the child of both of their parents, he doesn’t think it matters and he doesn’t want to cause drama or have to involve the other bio parent if his pup asks after them. It’s better left as a family secret.

Shino – His situation is similar to Shikamaru’s. His child will be the next clan leader and in order to have a kikaichu and be trained like his clanmates, they have to be biologically an Aburame. Shino is also not comfortable with other conception methods, but mainly because he’s terrified of his alpha rejecting the pup if they aren’t theirs or reacting badly if Shino is pregnant with someone else. Some alphas have a hard time with those instincts and can’t accept non-biological pups or get violent when their mate is carrying someone else’s offspring. Shino is pretty scared. He also is so humiliated during the invasive insemination procedure. In the end, he had nothing to worry about, as his alpha was the perfect parent to their pup, but for about a year, Shino is constantly stressed that everything is going to change suddenly, and his mate will snap and leave them or something. It’s a tough time for him.

Neji – He’s actually quite relieved. It makes him feel a lot less guilty for his own fertility problems. If you’re both sterile, he’s sad that you’re both lacking something you want, but it makes dealing with his own problems easier. There are many orphans in the clan, so you both adopt from that pool, and Neji couldn’t be happier and prouder of his children.

Kakashi – Thank fuck for that. He got sterilised when he was in ANBU, just in case he had any missions that involved seduction. Kakashi might make a joke about how you’re lucky that you got to avoid the hospital and still be sterile. He wishes lol. Anything that helps him remain childless is good in his book.

Iruka – He makes sure his mate isn’t upset, but Iruka himself is totally fine. He wouldn’t mind not having children at all, and if they both decided to have children, Iruka would want to adopt anyway. He thinks it makes so much more sense to adopt when there are so many pups who need loving homes. He does get a little sad if his mate is sad though, but only out of empathy, not because he himself is sad.

Itachi canon – It is very helpful for him. While Itachi has issues with his heat and his health, he doesn’t have many problems getting pregnant, he just can't carry to term. And birth control is hard as a missing nin, so he’s very glad that he doesn’t have to worry about it. (Miscarriages are not fun, and with a fertile mate he would certainly have suffered through a few). It’s better for him this way, his circumstances prevent him from having children anyway.

Itachi non-massacre AU – He’s devastated. He doesn’t blame his alpha at all, but he’s very upset. His clan will never let him adopt, if they're losing one of their best shinobi to stay at home and raise children, those children better be the new top shinobi, so they have to be his biological children. He using artificial insemination, and he uses the sperm of another Uchiha (one that he's not directly related to). The clan elders are overjoyed that Itachi's pups will be 100% Uchiha blood rather than mixed. But Itachi is very, very firm about making legal protections for his mate as their pups' parent. He doesn't want his clan to pull anything to try and exclude his alpha or claim that his mate doesn't have authority over their own child. He's very firm about those conditions.

Sai – Huh, well, he hadn’t given pups much thought tbh. He’s totally okay with not having children, he genuinely doesn’t care that much. He likes it just being his alpha and him, so why change it?

Gaara – He’s another one who is completely devastated when he hears the news, but he is very stoic about it on the outside because he wants to be a good support for his alpha who might be struggling. He really mourns being able to carry his alpha’s pups. He doesn’t want to adopt because he really wants to carry a pup and breastfeed and everything, but he’s also worried about his alpha feeling betrayed or excluded if he goes for a sperm donor. He’s desperate for his own children, two at least, so he wants to use a sperm donor.

L – He nods and files it away in his brain with all the other information about his beloved, but he doesn’t file it as important. You have already agreed to not have children, so it doesn’t matter either way.

Light – Hmm, this is a problem for his plan. He needs someone to take over the perfect world he’s creating, and he was planning on it being the biological child of him and his mate. Well, it needs to be his child, but it doesn’t matter too much if it’s also his alpha’s biological child. Light isn’t comfortable with artificial insemination, but he’s down for seducing one of his fangirls/fanboys and using them. He wouldn’t tell them that the pup is theirs though because he doesn’t want to be tied down to someone he can’t stand. If they got too suspicious that his pup was theirs, they might find themselves the victims of a mysterious death.

Matsuda – He’s distraught for you and himself. He’s a very traditional person who wants traditional things, a couple of kids, a nice house, a dog, that kind of thing. He would want to try every possible method to conceive naturally, but after two years going back and forth between various fertility clinics, it’s clear that he’s not going to get what he wants. Matsuda goes back and forth between various other methods but eventually decides to adopt an infant. He never really stops hoping that he’ll magically become pregnant, but that doesn’t mean he loves his child any less, because he absolutely dotes on them.

right after the final selection:

- You would have woken up after Giyuu, dazed and patched up, searching for your two friends. The last thing you remembered was being knocked into a tree by a demon and passing out.

- When you saw Giyuu - and only Giyuu - sobbing into his pillow, you didn’t have to be told to know that Sabito didn’t make it.

- You would have already started tearing up as you painfully crawled over to Giyuu’s futon, nudging his shoulder to get his attention.

- He’d choke a gasp, not expecting you to be so close or awake at all yet.

- Giyuu looked so broken, so guilty and so.. small.

- Your heart would break for both him and your fallen friend, pulling him into a tight hug as you let your own tears slip, burying your face into his neck.

- He’d only hesitate for a moment before his wails would start up again, hugging you as if you’d slip away from him too.

- Giyuu would cry out apology after apology, wanting you to forgive him for not being strong enough to protect you or Sabito; that again, he had to be protected.

- You would just gently shush him, not trusting your words as you silently sobbed with him. You’d tell him later that it wasn’t his fault.

- Both of you would have cried yourselves into a restless sleep, clinging to each other as if you were still in that awful mountain. You could’ve sworn you felt a cold, light hand on your shoulder, rubbing it as if to say goodbye. Take that as you will.

- The long walk back to Urokodaki-sensei’s house wasn’t fun, to say the least. But you both would be welcomed with a large, tearful hug from your master (practically your adoptive father).

- This would cause the both of you to start crying once more, the wounds of what happened and losing a friend still fresh.

- You’ve lost track on how many times Giyuu has apologized.

before you both go off as official demon slayers:

- It would be a miserable week before you got your swords. You would still be understandably upset about Sabtio, and Giyuu was practically a living corpse.

- You’d have to beg him to eat, and even then you’d have to feed the food to him yourself to make sure he was eating enough.

- You would be aware that he reacted similar after his sister had died, Sabtio having once told you about the experience since you arrived to Urokodaki’s place around a year after Giyuu.

- It didn’t get much better after you two had received your swords, that night ending in tears as you two mourned what could’ve been with Sabito.

- As we know, Giyuu would sew half of Sabito’s haori to Tsutako’s haori. You’d instead take a small piece of fabric from Sabito’s haori and make it into a scrunchie of sorts. It would be to wear around your wrist, a small tribute to him as well as to match with Giyuu.

note: the following one-shot takes place right before you two are sent out on to your first mission.

It’s been a week since the final selection ended and it was a quiet, cloudy morning; the only sounds in the now empty room being the shifting of clothing. In front of the lone mirror on the wall, you adjusted your uniform, making sure it fit comfortably to your body.

Behind you, Giyuu was doing the same, but noticeably more slow and lethargic. This is the most you’ve seen him move all week, so you guessed that was a plus.

You turned around once you were done, looking over sadly to the blue eyed boy. His once bright eyes were now a duller shade of blue, the light distinguished. You missed those bright eyes and even brighter smile; the thought that you may never see it again broke your heart even more.

His hair was down and clearly unbrushed. Knowing Giyuu and his habits, he was mostly likely not going to brush it - especially not in this state.

Now, you’ve never truly felt the pain of losing someone who was close to you. You couldn’t remember your past before showing up at your master’s place and meeting Giyuu and Sabito, so you couldn’t really be sad about losing people you didn’t know even existed.

So imagining going through the pain you were currently in twice made you hurt for the boy across the room, knowing old wounds have opened and new ones were forming over those.

Even worse, you had no idea what to say to comfort him. Would anything even comfort him? Probably not, but small actions may improve something, if not a little.

Making up your mind, you walked towards your side of the room, your comb gifted to you by Giyuu himself for your birthday that year still laying on the table.

“Giyuu?” You asked quietly, not wanting to scare him. That didn’t work, as you saw him flinch slightly. You sighed, grabbing the comb and making your way towards him. “Giyuu, would you do me a favor?”

His back was facing you as he stood still, slowly turning to look at your feet.

“.. what is it?” he asked, voice wobbly and scratchy from both lack of use and hours of sobbing.

You tried to give him a comforting smile, but it probably just seemed concerned as you nodded towards the mirror.

“Could you sit there for me? I’m going to brush your hair.”

Giyuu seemed to be a bit lost in how to respond, his face softening from the hard, sad look he was hosting previous. He looked as though he wanted to decline, but before he could you cut in.

“You deserve to take care of yourself, so please don’t tell me you don’t.”

You caught him, so Giyuu had no other choice but to slump a little and walk towards the mirror, sitting down on his knees in front of it.

It didn’t pass you how he refused to look at himself.

Sighing softly, you followed him, also landing on your knees but not sitting completely down. You put your hand gently on the top of his head, noticing the knots that have been forming from the past week.

“Just tell me if I hurt you, ok?” All he did was nod in return, so you took that as your green light to start.

Being as gentle as you could, your started brushing the bottom of his hair, focusing on getting all the smaller knots out from this area before moving to the next.

Giyuu’s hair was naturally very soft, having braided it more times than you could count within the two years you’ve known him. To see it in such disarray was almost as painful as it will be to brush out the larger knots near his scalp.

You held Giyuu’s head in place as your comb traveled up his hair, untangling and brushing through matted locks. At some point, you had to get a spray bottle to ease the hair when you swore you heard Giyuu wince at a harder tug.

The boy in front of you gripped onto his hakama, squeezing his eyes as he felt knot after knot be brushed. It didn’t feel the best for him at first, Giyuu finding himself regretting going so long without a brush.

But as soon as it started, the pain slowly ebbed into smooth brushes as the knots started to disappear. Especially when you started to comb the hair closest to his scalp; he couldn’t help but melt slightly into it.

You had managed to brush out all the knots, only leaving smooth, damn hair in the wake. You smiled to yourself, using your free hand to rake your hands though his scalp. His hair was long brushed by now, but you kept going. He deserved a bit of pampering, in your opinion. And by the way he slumped back into your touch, you could only guess that he was enjoying the feeling.

You only paused when you saw wetness appear under his eyes, his eyebrows furrowing slightly as he shook out of whatever trance he was in and pushed your hand away. Throughly confused, you tilted your head.

“Did I hurt you?” He shook his head, glaring down sadly at his hands.

“I don’t deserve this.”

A beat of silence passed, looking into the mirror to try to catch his eyes. He wasn’t looking up, scrunching his face up more. A single tear slipped, but he immediately rubbed his face roughly with his sleeve to try to stop it. It didn’t work as his breath shuttered.

“I-I don’t deserve any of this. I deserve to be-“

Warm arms enveloped Giyuu in an instant, catching him off guard and cutting him off completely. You wouldn’t let him finish that sentence; not now, not ever. You hugged him tightly to him, burying your face into his shoulder.

“Don’t finish that sentence. Don’t you dare say that.” You said sternly, the tremble in your voice giving away how you truly felt. You shuttered at the thought, hugging Giyuu even closer - if that was even possible. “Don’t leave me too.”

The blue-eyed boy was silent, stiffened from the unexpected reaction. Looking down at you, he could see you trembling yourself, but you held strong. You were always so strong. It’s one of the many things he admired about you.

He was never going to let you die.

Giyuu hugged you back just as tight, taking a breath as more tears slipped past his lashes. His voice was quiet but had force behind it; a strength you haven’t heard for a bit.

“I promise, I’ll be the one to protect you this time. I won’t let you die.” Shaking your head, you pulled back to look in his eyes, not daring to let go. You gripped his arms tightly.

“We’ll protect each other, and we’ll make it through together. That’s the promise I want. That’s what I can promise to you.”

When there was no response - only the avoidance of eye-contact, you cupped his cheeks. Pulling him closer, you made it so he could only look at you.

“Promise me Giyuu, we’re in this together.”

“..ok. I promise.”

You know I love the Shishigumi, a lot. So I went overboard. I offer my apologies.

Ibuki is probably the best one at dating an herbivore. He’s very gentle and conscientious of you as an animal and your limitations

That being said, he’s top tier respectful. He knows you may not be as physically strong as her is, but that doesn’t mean you’re not strong in your own way. He also likes the idea of protecting you.

Always walks side by side with you. He’s nervous about holding your hand, but he’d never say it. Do it for him.

Has eaten meat for YEARS and really struggles with that part of himself.

Doesn’t kiss you for a really long time, he’s inwardly terrified that he’s going to hurt you. You’d have to make the first move.

Keeps you away from his work. He doesn’t want you to get hurt.

He knows his world is dark, gritty, and that you shouldn’t be a part of it. He wants to send you away, but can’t. He thinks he’s selfish. You’ll need to reassure him this is what you want.

Herbivores can’t see in the dark, so he keeps lights on in key areas so you can see better.

Protective. If anyone gives you any trouble he’s quick to correct their behavior, he can be incredibly intimidating when he wants to be

Slouches so you’re around the same height. Give him a back/neck rub at the end of the day. It will make him feel better, and he liked being close to you

The kind of boyfriend that remembers all the major events in your relationships, including small ones.

Once he gets comfortable, he’s a snuggle bug in private. Cheek kisses, arm around your shoulders when you’re sitting, wrapping his arms around your waist when you’re standing.

Lions can’t purr, but if they COULD oh man, he’d never stop

He’s famous for enjoying females, so the fact that he’s dating someone seriously that’s not a feline is really strange

You should have seen the expression on one of the more flirty female lions when he turned them down.

Everyone thinks he’s joking about dating you at first, when they see he’s actually serious the teasing dies down, but doesn’t stop (it’s at his expense don’t worry).

“Has hell frozen over? What’s someone like you doing with a guy like Free?”

He honestly doesn’t expect you guys to stay together for very long. He expects it to be a fling. Only it doesn’t stop. He doesn’t get tired of you or eat you....It’s weird but wonderful.

Has eaten meat for years, and has a hard time letting himself kiss on anywhere but on the cheek. Likes to throw his arm around you and hug you. So he does show affection, but keeps his mouth FAR AWAY from your throat.

Rests his head on top of yours

Calls you “Babe” a lot. He has a lot of other nicknames for you to. Some of the lions don’t even know your name, just that you’re dating Free.

Over. Protective. He knows the market, the animals in it and the animals who come to it. He is very prepared to shoot or maim anyone who tries anything. The fact he’s such a loose canon does help scare people off. Everyone knows who you’re dating and they make sure not to push it.

He likes to show you off. He’s that guy that carries a picture of you in his wallet. Anyone who asks about him dating someone and he’ll show you off.

“Sure she’s hot, but have you see the ass on my girlfriend?”

Likes to show off in front of you. Fights? Yes. Please watch him and root for him.

Tries to get you to get a tattoo, but will NOT get identical ones. He doesn’t want to jinx it. If you wanna have similar tattoos though, that’d be okay.

Dolph

A relationship with Dolph when you’re an herbivore is really low key. A lot of people don’t know you’re dating. He doesn’t want to put you in jeopardy

He’s pretty serious and it’s hard for him just to relax. He does relax when you’re alone and he knows you’re safe.

Likes to lay his head on your chest and listen to your heart beat

When you do go out together, you may have to initiate any hand holding. He plays it off, but he’s secretly happy

He smokes, and you may have to get on him for that if you don’t like it. It’d be very hard for him to quit

Will let you braid his mane, but wont keep it in if you go out

Supports your endeavors and does whatever he can to help. He may get a little to into it. You’ll say you wanna take a trip and he has everything planned out. It’s a blessing and a curse.

Likes how small your hands are in his

When he has a hard day, just hold him. He’s heavy and will lean into you, but he just needs the support

Has to relearn how to be himself, and you really help with that. He smiles more when he’s alone with you.

If lions could blush you bet he’d be constantly red. If you actually look close, the insides of his ears usually are

Respects your boundaries. If Ibuki is the king of respect, Agata is the prince.

He’s still part of a dangerous organization in the black market, so when he’s working he’s all business. Only a few of the members know about you (just the inner circle).

Agata, like most of the others, is petrified to kiss you. He probably has the worst anxiety out of anyone else. He’s a meat eater, he’s eaten your kind of meat before. What if He accidently hurts you?

Texts you all the time.

The one you can be on the phone with for hours and not know it

Likes it when you run your fingers through his mane

He’s stronger than he looks, so he may just pick you up and carry you every now and again. He just likes to hold you, let him have this

He has a hard time being who he is versus how he thinks he should be. The fact he can goof off and just enjoy life without the strain of being a lion is a blessing.

Miguel

He’s pretty quiet in his group, so no one knows you’re dating

Miguel is really good at thinking his feelings and thoughts, but isn’t great at voicing them. He does a lot of little things to show affection. He brings you a warm drink on a cold day, has food for you when you wake up, holds you hand

He likes to try and see the best in everything, even if he knows how ugly the world is

His mane is maintained carefully. Once you get really serious, he may ask you to help him with it. It’s pretty intimate, and when you’re done he looks at you like you have stars in your eyes

He’s the force of protection you don’t even know is there. He’s probably saved your life like, eight times, and never let you know that he did

Sabu

If Miguel is quiet, Sabu is dead silent

No one knows anything about his personal life, let alone his dating life

They find out one day when the group is trying to make plans for a fun sort of day, and he turns them down because you two have a date. It becomes a secret mission for the group to find out who you are.

They don’t, Sabu is the oldest member and one of the most clever

A popular headcanon is that his face is really, REALLY messed up. I share that headcanon. The first time you kiss the scars on his face he chokes up

He goes all in. he’s yours as long as you’ll have him. He expects the same respect from you.

He’s eaten meat for a really long time, but he has more semblance of control being a smidge older than most of the other lions.

Jinma

He knows a lot about the black market, so he’s over protective from the get go. However, since he does know so much, he knows what connections to make to keep you safe.

Eats meat, and is self conscious that you’ll judge him for it. Please be nice to him

Kiss his eye with the spot, it makes him feel special

(Personal headcanon) His mane has never grown right, so he keeps it short. He’s kind of self conscious about it. A lions mane means a lot to male lions, he tries to keep it nice but...it’s nothing like some of the other Shishigumi’s manes. Pet it, run your fingers through it. Males don’t complimented enough. It’ll make him feel loved.

If you ever wanna go anywhere fancy, because of his connections and knowledge, you can basically go anywhere at any time...as long as it’s in the black market, but he may know a guy that knows a guy. If there’s something more legal you need, he checks in with his other gang members to see who knows who

Has a wicked good memory, remembers pretty much everything you’ve said

Dope

A gentleman. He will hold doors open for you, offer his arm and hand when you walk together, brings you flowers.

He, like all the Shishigumi, eats meat. He is self conscious about it an doesn’t want to scare you away. He will be upfront about it though. He wants honesty. he talks it out with you, and he will try and cut back but being part of the Shishigumi, and a meat addict, means it’s very hard for him to stop. He probably wont, not completely, but he tries not to do it around you.

He doesn’t brag he’s dating you, but if he’s asked he gets this really peaceful look on his face

If you ever take him shopping at any flea market or outdoor stalls, he will get you the best bargain. He’s also amazing at helping you with any work contracts, apartment contracts and anything else.

Likes it when you brush his mane, and lets you put it up for him before he goes out. He doesn’t let you do anything fancy, but says when you do it it somehow turns out better

Hino

Hino is very attractive. His looks are what brings jobs in, so he keeps the fact that you’re dating a secret for business.

Gives you extra affection in private because of it. Kisses, hugs, all that. His favorite is to kiss the back of your hand, he is kind of a romantic.

Don’t get him wrong, he’s still a lion. If he hears that an animal is giving you a hard time, he will take them down and look handsome AF doing it

Eats meat, and like all the other lions worries for your safety. He tends to eat before he sees you, but after a while of you dating he becomes more relaxed. He doesn’t eat in front of you though.

Spends a ton of time getting ready for the day, you may have to fight him for the bathroom

Compliments you a lot. He uses the basic one liners at his job with older, lonely, animals. So, he uses unique ones for you.

Honestly? He does try and eat you the first time. Not intentionally and he stops himself, but to be fair to HIM as an herbivore...you almost let him

Remember how Ibuki is really diligent about your limitations and you as an herbivore? Pays OFF when he’s with you

He’s used to doing what comes natural, and what if what comes natural means hurting you? He’d rather not.

When you do finally try and have sex, he doesn’t kill you...but he does bite you. You need stitches, and he has even more of a complex (tell him he just gave you a cool tattoo or something)

He may actively avoid you or being near you. It’s a set back. He’s not like Ibuki who can talk it out, he’s supposed to be a lion, not a scaredy cat.

You have to put your foot down. You’re dating a bad ass mafia lion, not some nervous school boy. Remind him about how much you care about him and how much you want him.

The second time goes better, but he’s a LOT more careful. he does maim a few pillows, claws the mattress. Their sacrifice is appreciated. (you two become famous for ruining and destroying beds. The other guys are both impressed and disgusted. Free has no shame)

This male is a womanizer, but he’s not great at doing things that females would stay for? It’s more of a hit-it-and go. He knows some tricks but...not a lot.

Dolph is careful with you the first time, and while he doesn’t bite you, he does dig his claws in a little to much. They may or may not scar. He feels bad, but he’s so in the moment he can’t help it

He doesn’t stop until you’re satisfied. It’s a promise. You will NOT be able to walk the next day. He’s going to make the claw marks up to you if it kills you and wakes everyone in ear shot.

Out of all of the lions, you’re safest with Dolph. He’s ”the serious one”, which makes him practical and knowing. He actually does research and goes online to inform himself.

Love bites. He doesn’t break skin, so you’re safe there.

Loves it when you try and claw him. You can’t do a lot, as an herbivore, but the fact your instincts try and make you...really gets him going.

Casual at aftercare. Better than average but nothing near Ibuki or Agata.

Not a sex maniac, and with work, it’s not high on his priority list. He’ll make up for it though ;)

Agata

Likes to pretend it’s not something he’s interested in, but he is. He just doesn’t want to pressure you, or scare you. Dating a lion is one thing, being fully exposed is another and he knows it.

He thinks about it a lot, but doesn’t act on it. You probably will have to take the lead. Agata gets way to in his head.

The sweetest kisser ever, but when he’s heated they’re like fire. Biting your lip, you face carefully with his claws just teetering on the edge of digging in. He loves kissing you, doesn’t matter where.

Kissing will lead to other things if you don’t stop him, but do you really want to?

Likes to pull you close, and the more heated he gets the more likely he’s going to grind on you without realizing he’s doing it

Totally whines if you stop kissing him.

Younger than the rest of the Shishigumi, and is more prone to using his instincts. He eats meat and is afraid of hurting you, but his desire to fuck your brains out is far greater than the instinct to eat you

He does end up biting you, and uses his claws. The damage he does isn’t serious, but he still fuses over you when its over.

Takes a while to let himself near you like that again. He beats himself up. You may have to prove to him you’re tougher than you look.

When you try again, he makes up for his shortcomings. You’re not sleeping tonight, call in sick to work tomorrow.

You may have to ask him to slow down. He intends to go all night, you may have to curb his enthusiasm. Don’t forget to take breaks for water so you don’t pass out.

Wont stop until you’re satisfied. Doesn’t matter how tired he is.

Sweet nothings in your ear non stop...between the moaning. He’s surprisingly vocal

Talk to him too. Part of the reason he cares so much about you is because you see him for who he is, not his status as a lion.

Since he doesn’t plan having sex with you, and just lets it happen naturally, he always has things in his room for you. Just in case. Please don’t tease him about it, the other lions do that enough.

He’s the brawn of the group, and is strong as hell. He may end up trying to show off and you may end up in positions when you have to totally vulnerable (if it makes you uncomfortable, he’ll adjust. Just talk to him)

Muscles for days. The lion is made of stone, but has surprisingly soft touches. He knows his body and knows how to use it

He’s never had sex with an herbivore, he’s thought about it, but having sex with something he may eat later didn’t sit well with him. You are a different story. He’s thought about it a little to much

First time he has sex with you he claws you, and they’re pretty deep. You end up getting stitches. Unlike a lot of the other lions though, he doesn’t avoid you afterwards. He’s there when you get stitches, intimidating the doctor (who has a small heart attack every time Miguel moves)

Apologizes but isn’t afraid to try again. He trims his claws this time, you should really tell him the other things his fingers could be used for outside clawing your back.

Do not mess with his mane or pull it, he’ll get grumpy.

Loves your chest and carefully uses his tongue. Doesn’t matter what size they are, he’s a fan.

Not very vocal, but likes it when you are.

Sabu

Sabu is older and more controlled, so you’re pretty safe with him.

He doesn’t seem like he’s interested in it, and since he doesn’t talk much, him bringing it up comes out of no where.

Just out of no where. He doesn’t talk much so he doesn’t beat around the bush. You were just scrolling on your phone, and you nearly drop it.

He doesn’t hurt you when you have sex, not even by accident, but the couch you were on gets shredded. It looks like an animal twice his size attacked it.

Runs his hands over your body, he can’t stop touching you.

Kiss his scars, it sooths him, and he’ll pay you back

Loves your neck, but is careful not to leave any marks (you have no idea how he doesn’t, it’s like magic)

He doesn’t care if you leave kiss marks on him

Jinma

Disaster. He doesn’t mean to be, he just is

He wants it to be perfect, but while he knows everything about the black market, he doesn’t know much about having sex with an herbivore. He never really though of it, and now that he is...help him. He knows rumors of herbivore and carnivore relationships that have gone wrong so...he kind of freezes up. That, and he hasn’t been in a lot of long term relationships.

While the others do their research, Jinma goes way to into it and becomes a bit overwhelmed, but hides it.

You end up having to take control. For someone who knows the black market like the back of his hand, Jinma is the student and you are the teacher. You’re an herbivore, and you’re going to show him just how much you know (you are the captain now)

He bites you, and he does break the skin, but he just closes his mouth and allows you to decide if you wanna continue or stop

He starts keeping a med kit in his room just in case.

He gets better, the more he learn and the more serious he is with you. Soon he’s compiling a book of knowledge on you.. He knows where to touch to make your toes curl, what to say, and your weak spots

He takes everything he learns and uses it against you one night. He’s a fast learner.

Dope

Part of negotiations is to know what a person wants and what they will go through to get it. So, when you bring it up, the look in your eyes is all it takes for him to know he needs to take you serious.

Usually his kisses are quick and satisfying, but once he actually starts to seriously kiss you its like it’s the last time he’s going to do it.

Likes to have you in his lap. Seeing your face is important to him. Every movement and actions of your body paints a picture of what you want.

Third best at foreplay, what drags him down is he watches you to the point that he forgets what he’s doing

When you first have sex, he ends up clawing your hips and biting your lip to hard. You lip bleeds a little and his nails break the skin. He’s a little worried, but if you don’t tell him to stop he’ll get permission to keep going.

Since dating you, he hasn’t been with any other females, he’s very needy. He’s not as bad as Free, but he’s getting there.

You have no idea how he seduces you every time, one moment you’re making tea, the next, you’re on the kitchen counter

The first time you try and have sex with him, he claws you way to hard and you end up having to get stitches and fixed up. He feels awful and can’t look you in the eye. He swears he will NEVER do it again

He never does, he keeps to his word

Unlike some of the other lions, the fact he hurt you doesn’t keep him away. He feels bad, but now he’s going to try twice as hard to make sure every time he has sex with you is amazing.

Wont stop until you’re satisfied, and just seems to naturally know your body and what you like.

While he’s composed in public, you get to see a little wild in his eyes when he fucks you. He has this low growl that rumbles through his chest that you feel deep in your body the tighter he holds you

Probably has had sex with you on most surfaces in your home.

Above average at aftercare. He tries, but having more one night stands than not hasn’t equipped him for great aftercare. He learns though.

OH GOD YES I WOULD LOVE TO THANKS FOR ASKING!! The English Major in me jumped out so here's an absolute novel lmao:

Hannibal/Will:

Hannibal and Will are the easiest to draw direct parallels to because they are textually compared to Achilles and Patroclus in canon. Hannibal draws himself as Achilles and Will as Patroclus, then (because apparently he’s never heard of subtlety) shows it to Will.

Hannibal says that hiding and revealing identities is a major theme in the Iliad. Will asks Hannibal to reveal himself to Jack Crawford; in the same episode, Hannibal begins to suspect that Will has betrayed him, hiding his true intentions behind a façade to bait Hannibal into being captured by the FBI. However, Will isn’t even sure himself what his real intentions and identity is, and eventually betrays the FBI and runs away with Hannibal.

After Hannibal realizes that Will betrayed him (which is also the episode after he talks about how they’re like Achilles and Patroclus), he stabs Will in the stomach. Patroclus was killed after being stabbed in the stomach.

Hannibal and Will’s blurring identities is a major theme throughout the show. Just as Patroclus takes on Achilles’s identity on the field of war, Will takes on Hannibal’s identity in many ways—both intentionally, and unintentionally.

Patroclus dies wearing Achilles’s armor. Will is accused of being the Chesapeake Ripper, imprisoned, and could have been executed for Hannibal’s crimes if Hannibal hadn’t interfered.

Hannibal is a god-adjacent character, while Will is his more human counterpart. Will is Hannibal’s tether to his humanity, just as Patroclus is Achilles’s.

Just like Achilles couldn’t stand to be parted from Patroclus, Hannibal chose to let Will pull him off a cliff to their (probable) deaths. Hannibal would rather die with Will than live without him.

There is a significant amount of water imagery in this show. Will especially has a lot of ties to water: he likes to fish (his mind palace is initially shown to be a stream); he’s knowledgeable about boats and sailing (he sails across the Atlantic to find Hannibal); his dreams and hallucinations often include water and/or blood; he pulled Hannibal off a cliff into the ocean in a last ditch attempt to kill them both; etc. The story of Achilles also has lots of water-related motifs since Achilles’s mother, Thetis, is a sea nymph/goddess of water.

Hannibal didn’t become overtly vicious and violent toward the Great Red Dragon until he threatened to kill (and then actually stabbed) Will. Then he went totally feral and (literally) ripped Dolarhyde’s throat out. This reminds me of Achilles losing his mind and killing then mutilating Hector after Hector killed Patroclus.

Steve/Bucky:

Steve and Bucky have the “legendary beloved heroic superhuman soldier” and “childhood friend turned war companion” parallel down to a T. Steve is like Achilles: he is a born soldier who wants to fight for his country, starting out idealistic and becoming worn down and jaded by war over time. Bucky is far more reluctant to go to war but follows Steve back onto the battlefield because he believes in Steve and wants to keep him safe—especially from his own reckless righteousness. This is very similar to Patroclus’s desire to follow Achilles to war mostly out of a desire to protect and guide him away from his self-destructive, hot-headed tendencies.

Just as Patroclus put on Achilles’s armor to fight (and die) in his place on the battlefield, Bucky picks up and wields Steve’s shield just before he falls off the train to his apparent death.

Steve starts out saying that he doesn’t want to kill anybody, but after Bucky “dies”, he vows not to stop until every member of Hydra is either killed or captured. This is similar to Achilles’s reaction to Patroclus’s death, where he goes mad with grief and kills everyone in his path to get to Hector, who he then violently kills.

Additionally, after killing Hector, Achilles continues to fight recklessly until someone kills him. Similarly, Steve keeps fighting to stop Hydra but ultimately goes down with the aircraft carrying the bombs, allowing himself to drown/freeze. There’s probably ways he could have gotten out of that situation, but instead he kind of just gives in and lets himself “die” (at least that’s my interpretation).

The Captain America movies also have some interesting water imagery. Bucky falls to his “death” in a ravine, most likely falling into the frozen stream. Steve “drowns” after he crashes the plane into the ocean; in The Winter Soldier, Steve falls from the helicarrier into the Potomac, and Bucky jumps in after him. Again, the story of Achilles also contains water-related motifs due to Achilles’s mother being a sea nymph; I’m sure I could write an entire essay about these parallels before I figure out how to verbalize why this is interesting, but I’m too lazy to right now lol.

Arthur/Merlin:

Again, just like with Steve and Bucky, this is an obvious case of “famous royal golden hero of legends” and “less well-known but ultimately extremely important companion who follows him to war”. Like Achilles and Patroclus, Arthur and Merlin meet before Arthur is a famous warrior and become friends long before the “big war” that ultimately tears them apart.

Arthur and Achilles might be the famous warriors, but Merlin and Patroclus are the kind-hearted, brave, fiercely loyal companions who serve both as a fellow warrior on the battlefield, and as a moral compass. Just as Achilles looks to Patroclus for advice and as a tether to the humility and importance of humanity in the face of a great destiny, Arthur looks to Merlin.

Both Patroclus and Merlin seem at first to be ordinary men who (in the eyes of most casual observers) aren’t worthy of Achilles/Arthur’s friendship. However, they both become legendary figures of their own, without whom their legendary heroic counterparts would never have survived.

As I mentioned in the section about Hannibal and Will, the theme of hiding and revealing identities is very important in the story of Achilles and Patroclus. One of the biggest plot points in Merlin is that Merlin can’t reveal that he has magic; he doesn’t do so until the last episode, once Arthur has been mortally wounded.

Just as Patroclus always believed that Achilles would live up to his great destiny, Merlin always believed in Arthur. And even though Arthur didn’t know about Merlin’s true potential and role in his rise to the throne, Arthur believed that Merlin was one of the best, most courageous men he’d ever met. This reminds me o Achilles referring to Patroclus as Philtatos (in The Song of Achilles), meaning “best of men”.

In an inverted parallel, Arthur is the one who is stabbed and ultimately dies. Although Achilles does eventually die in war, it isn’t until after Patroclus dies. It is then implied that they will eventually meet again someday, just as Achilles and Patroclus would meet again in the afterlife after their ashes were mingled together.

Dean/Cas:

In this relationship, Dean is very much the “reckless hero with a pre-ordained-by-the-gods destiny who is actually very flawed and carries a lot of self-doubt” and Cas is the “companion with a heart of gold who is almost embarrassingly devoted to the hero and will do anything for him”.

For Dean/Cas, there is also the parallel of struggling with a toxic parental figure who demands too much while also being emotionally absent and manipulative. For Dean, this is John Winchester, and for Achilles, this is Thetis. Cas also struggles with his relationship with his father (who is literally God lmao) and his desire to be a good soldier vs. his desire to do what’s right and to protect the man he loves.

Patroclus strives to help Achilles see that he’s more than just a weapon, and Cas and Dean both do this for each other: Dean helps Cas realize that he’s more than just another emotionless soldier of heaven, and Cas helps Dean realize he’s more than “daddy’s blunt instrument” (the phrasing of which I will still be laughing at in my grave. Thanks, CW.)

Dean’s godly destiny as Michael’s vessel is determined before he’s even born. Achilles’s godly destiny is also determined before he’s born, and neither one really has any say in it.

Patroclus ultimately dies in Achilles’s place, and Cas does the same for Dean many times. When Cas decides to help Dean escape heaven and try to save Sam and stop the apocalypse, he sacrifices himself to help Dean get away. Of the many times Cas puts his life on the line, it’s usually either to help Dean, or to save him. This is reminiscent of how Patroclus did almost everything not in the name of winning the war, or even the greater good (although he was obviously a good person), but to protect Achilles and keep him from getting himself killed.

Whenever Cas is dead, Dean’s mental health visibly deteriorates. He becomes more violent and unpredictable—a worse version of himself—just as Achilles did after Patroclus died.

Just as Patroclus acts as a tether to humanity for Achilles, Cas and Dean both act as tethers to humanity for each other. Cas pulls Dean out of Hell, restoring his humanity, and Dean helps Cas shrug off his emotionless angel identity and find some humanity of his own.

TLDR: Reckless blonde hero (or villain) with a legendary destiny/reputation and badass fighting skills + their viciously loyal brunette companion-slash-lover who's willing to die for them at a moment's notice = good shipping material
