How Disney (Unintentionally) Created The Most Sympathetic Disney Villain
Yes, we're talking about Hades. So strap in, folks, this is gonna be a long one.
Tumblr media
It may or may not come to a surprise to some of y'all that Mr. Hot head is my favorite Disney Villain. His charm, his sass, and above all his sarcastic one-liners, what isn't there to love about this walking-talking wheeling and dealing Mephistopheles archetype with the most basic villainous ambition of taking over the world.
Okay, fine, the cosmos. But at the end of the day, Hades has a very cut and dry appearance in Disney's Hercules. He doesn't even have nearly as much screentime as other Villains as I had previously believed.
First appearing quite apropos in the shadiest corner of Olympus ready to raise hell and all manner of chicanery just to incite misery to a newborn baby, only to exit stage left to cue the villainous side-plot with a bit of prophetical verse thrown in for good measure. A plan comes into being and he orders a hit on the aforementioned baby, only for the hit to fail despite y'know being the yutz in charge of the land of the dead *cough cough*
18 years pass and suddenly Hades has to completely 180 his plans, focusing not on his intended target of Olympus but the prophecy hero he thought he already axed. And so he unleashes a horde of monsters upon the city of Thebes as a result. The Titans are freed for some reason, Olympus is easily defeated and rescued, and then so is the plot device- I mean the Titans, and Hercules gives Hades the one punch man treatment, and so Hades is left to reconsider his life choices for all of eternity swirling in the Phlegethon/abyss. Pick your poison, either work.
Alright, cool, glad I got that out of the way. Oh, hold on, my sponsor, is giving me that beady eyed stare to remind our lovely audience that Meg was also an unfortunate victim in Hades' scheme. We'll get to Meg and Hades' relationship in a future post, but to summarize, Hades' treatment of Meg is far, far harsher and has tons more animosity than Hades and Hercules- the titular character mind you- ever had.
But I digress.
Despite, Hades' antagonistic role in the film, there are many, many nuggets that Disney gives that allows the audience to sympathize with his lot in life.
In his very quick introduction- it's a Disney movie the plot has to establish quickly cuz animators have lives too. Insert obligatory pay animator's fairly line here.
We have what I like to call Exhibit Alpha: The Introduction.
Tumblr media
Now Disney Villains are no strangers to a dramatic introduction.
Tumblr media
I couldn't find the exact gif of Maleficent appearing, but I ended up putting the one above because it proves my point. Everything about Maleficent strikes fear in the hearts of her audience. Everyone is watching her every move because they know she's a formidable threat.
When Hades makes himself known, the Olympians aren't scared or spooked like King Stefan and the 3 fairies were when Maleficent first appeared.
They're annoyed.
To them, Hades is the weird uncle no one invited, but shows up anyway. If anything, it looks like the gods have dealt with him before and know how to put on the cold shoulder to get him to leave faster.
The only one oblivious to all this is Zeus who invites him to stay and enjoy the party. But Hades isn't an idiot. He's very aware of the chilly reception he's getting and declines with this one-liner:
Tumblr media
Keep this line in mind, we're going to circle back to it.
Zeus then proceeds to meet Hades with a quip right back and a very punny one at that, earning the first laugh since Hades arrived, and one at Hades' expense.
Tumblr media
A laughing fit ensues and Hades storms off in a quiet rage.
A short scene indeed, but it tells us a lot about Hades, Zeus, and the gods.
Hades is an outcast.
Boo-hoo, homeboy just needs a girlfriend. Maybe a flaming flower-picking one, but that's neither here nor there.
Now, the interchange between Zeus and Hades makes it very clear how Hades started to become excluded from his family. Hades is absent to a lot of social gatherings and most of it is because of his job. A job that deals with stiffs, the dead, the dearly departed, however you wanna slice it.
Now before you say- well he was scheming to take over the cosmos on his free time, what do we see in the very next scene?
Tumblr media
Over 5 billion souls served. Hades is a busy guy and the movie makes it really clear that even in his spare time meeting with the Fates, the work is piling up. Maybe that's why he's a fast talker, he's always moving and grooving so he can get some time to relax.
Yeah, yeah, we saw him smite some of his people on his small world boat ride, but considering we only see one god working in the underworld, he doesn't have the time of day for them and after eons of this drudgery he's gotten quite apathetic to their pleading.
The shades are just as doomed as him really.
Now we're going to gloss over a few scenes and move to Exhibit Beta: The Thebans.
Tumblr media
Hold the phone, Hades isn't even in this scene.
My point exactly. Hades is a bit busy amassing a horde of monsters. Hecc, none of the disgruntled Thebans even mention a monster in their list of disasters. The Monster Mash party starts after Hercules rolled into town thanks to Meg after her failed recruitment of Nessus.
So what does that tell us? Whoever causes floods, earthquakes, fires probably caused by lightning incited these disasters not Hades. Hmm, on a weird side note, I don't think Hades' brothers, the earthshaker or god of storms, fit those descriptions at all.
All these disasters were happening while the Olympians did nothing. It wasn't unheard of for the ancient greek gods to send wayward mortals to do their bidding and help people or free them from monsters, so why does Phil put it upon himself to take Hercules out for the hero life? (Yeah Disney should've included the presence of other gods working on earth to make them out to really be responsible and helpful, hell maybe have Hermes fly in congratulating Herc for completing his training and direct him towards Thebes)
It's almost like Hades is the only god who's present or aware of the woes on earth. Sure he adds to it, but are the Olympians really lounging about doing nothing in this movie?
Exhibit Gamma: Storming the Palace
Tumblr media
....
I have no words. Zeus and Hera could've been doing paperwork?? Looking out for their son??? Have a meeting with the Pantheon and that's why they're suddenly blindsided by the Titan attack???
Hades, though sassy, though sarcastic, and just a bucketful of ruthless and malicious described the Olympians to a T.
Hecc, the Olympians had no idea the Titans were out destroying the world until they were literally on their front doorstep. If Hades had told them to destroy half of Greece, they would've done so before the Olympians noticed.
And it's so contrived, but the only reason Hades lost was b/c Hercules shows up and frees some of the gods. Like if one other god was not on Mount Olympus they could've come save the day. But every god was there. Make that a fanfic y'all. ONe where the one god who was- I don't know confined to their island or something wondering where her mother went and so she has to gather all the nymphs and natures spirits to save olympus or some drivel like that.
Hermes had to sound the trumpet like judgement day to get the gods rocking and rolling. And that's not even considering how Hades gets punched into oblivion.
Exhibit Delta: Revelation 20:14 (NIV)
Tumblr media
The one god who did his job has been thrown in prison??? Zombie apocalypse??? Is that you??? Where's Shawn when you need him???
Tumblr media
Confine him to the underworld, Wonder Boy. Get your Greece Lightning father to take care of business in a flash. He'd get you Meg back in an instant. Just ask nicely. We know Psyche is in attendance. Meg deserves it after all she went through.
I know it's more dramatic, but the world of Hercules is absolutely screwed. Talk about a happy ending with terrible implications for the state of the world. Meg and Hercules are going to die and be sent to an afterlife with no deity to even send them to Elysium, and that's if Hades comes back at all.
Tumblr media
*Takes a long drink from my pina colada*
I didn't mean for this post to turn into a hate show on the Disney Olympians. I'm just, I always knew Disney messed up hard on this movie. And yes I adore the hell out of it, but making a villain more sympathetic and likable than the hero? When I started writing this I didn't think it would get this bad, but the more I looked into it?
I haven't even touched how Hades has the worst employees, having to put up with his imps? The Titans who don't even know where the tallest mountain is?
For all his manipulation with Meg, Hades did give her everything he promised her. He's a devil sure, but he's a god of his word. He couldn't even force Meg to seduce Hercules, he had to convince her with some extra added relinquish your soul type bit. Hell, he was even willing to negotiate with Hercules after hurting his dog.
To finish off, even with those nuggets sprinkled in, at the end of the day Hades is a villain through and through. Yes, he's fun, yes, every single one of his lines is an improvised banger, but that's kind of the point.
One of the directors of Hercules once described Hades as being the type of evil that's attractive. Drags you in with promises of honey until you find yourself drowning in mercury. He's Mephistopheles offering you a Faustian deal, Satan with the apple, and this author trying to advertise their terrible fanfic that delves into this very topic.
I remain ever yours, dear readers.
Till next time.

…. *the mysterious skeleton turns to face you*
So… it’s you huh….? I suppose you’re here to listen to this unfortunate backstory? Perhaps here to grant me your pity?
Now……I suppose I could tell you what happened. Not that I highly doubt you’ll be interested……hm? What’s that? …..You are?
…..*sighs* Fine. If you insist. I shall tell you the story of how Rubytale ceased to be. *the mysterious skeleton reaches for the book, and begins reading the story*
“Once apon a time, two races ruled the land, humans…and monsters. The two races were ruled by two leaders King Topaz, and Queen Aquamarine. One day, The Crystal Ruby of Balance grew out of control, causing the entire AU to vanish of the maps, and...” *he stops reading for a second*
Wait a minute….*the mysterious skeleton turns to the pages, to find false information*No….T-This is not right. It’s all wrong. Nothing in this book is right! It doesn’t talk about the REAL story at all. They’re leaving out the tragic events of his childhood. There was no “King Topaz”, damn those delusional authors. Always spreading lies about history.
…. They’re choosing to forget what REALLY happened to my people. *he disintegrates the book of lies*
I think it’s about time you learn the real story of Rubytale, the true tale.
Tumblr media
On day, a selfish soul decided to steal the crystal to absorb its magic for their own greedy desires, oblivious to the horrible fate they have brought upon innocent people.
The crystal was the only thing keeping the world together, it was known to guarded for centuries, people praised the crystal, as if it were a might god, however, the guards had grew lazy over time, letting it slip into the wrong hands.
Tumblr media
To the sound of footsteps approaching, the selfish soul dropped the 2,000 year old crystal on the ground and ran away in a panic to save their own skin, leaving the AU and the damaged artifact behind. The guards came back to see what the selfish individual had done.
“Oh the horror, The Crystal Ruby of Balance has been damaged, we’re all done for!!” said one of the guards in a state of fear. In a moment of despair and sadness, they dropped to their knees and begged the magic crystal for forgiveness, but it was too late.
Tumblr media
A bright glow begin to emerge from the crystal, blinding everyone in the room, it rose to the sky like a big shining star, and began striking everything in its path.
Tumblr media
An emergency evaluation was scheduled that morning, screams of terror can be heard all across New Home City, the crystal blocked the light of the sun itself, causing the sky to become too bright for the eyes…
Broken pieces of the crystal had formed into giant meteors that came crashing down on buildings and homes. By the afternoon, the entire city was destroyed, with some civilians injured and others killed.
Tumblr media
The last remaining survivors ran and ran as fast as they could, yet they were no much for the rubies destructive power. No one was spared, and they were wiped out without a trace.
Tumblr media
……
….My apologies, I shall keep reading for you.
Tumblr media
The queen simply watched, frozen in horror of watching the entire earths population in the AU parish so easily. She knew there was not enough time left, so she grabbed her ten year old son and used her last remaining bit of magic to send him to a safe place somewhere in the multi-verse.
Tumblr media
She had a granted him a staff as well known as ‘The summoner’ which will allow him to summon any Sans at his disposal to help him in time of need as well as travel to other worlds.
However, the child couldn’t get it to work, no matter how hard he tried. He was sent to void between the fabric of time known as the “Timespace”, it was like an empty canvas, nothing to see yet.
With his world gone forever and everyone he cared about, he cried for hours and hours, he screamed for help, he sat for hours hoping someone would COME TO HIS AID AND TELL HIM THAT EVERYTHING WAS GOING TO BE OKAY….that he was safe now….that someone now cares for him…
..And yet….NOBODY CAME… “Where is my savior?” he said…
“Where was my happy ending damn it?! I don’t deserve to suffer like this!” The child shouted in a fit of rage.
Tumblr media
“The story is incomplete there has to be more to it than this… this can’t be my fate. It just can’t be, someone has to come for me, they just gotta!”
The child repeatedly said to himself every day, hoping to keep his sanity alive, as the the days became weeks, and the weeks became months, and months became years.
The years of isolation and loneliness took every last bit of a motion that poor child had left in his heart, he grew emotionless, dull, unable to smile again. He swore to kill the bastard responsible, and when he did, he would bathe in their blood.
And would you like to know who the child was?
That child….was ME….

How would the greens act with Bb!luke taming cannibal
specially Aemond or Otto?
As @saltandcoldiron aptly put in their ask, panic would probably be quite a foremost emotion! Putting the rest under the cut because I’m incapable of not rambling to a ridiculous extent:
For a start, Luke has just claimed the biggest and most savage of the wild dragons - and unlike in the main Carrionverse, the Greens can see with their own eyes that the Cannibal is both willing and able to throw down with Vhagar, even if he’s smaller than both her and Vermithor (Cannibal is unable to roost in the Dragonpit both due to size and the fact he keeps trying to eat the hatchlings, so he has to hang out quite close to Vhagar around King’s Landing).
So it somewhat takes the wind out of Otto’s sails about the advantage Aemond just gained for them - not least because Rhaena claimed Grey Ghost, so that’s two adult dragons Rhaenyra’s just added to her forces. The fact that Rhaenyra’s just married Daemon and Rhaenys is suddenly mentoring Luke, however grudgingly, also means that the Blacks suddenly appear far more united than before, so the numbers aren’t looking too favourable for the Greens now.
Now, it’s possible that Otto (or Larys) might decide it pertinent to intervene before Luke ever grows big enough to actually ride that dragon against them. That’s obviously easier said than done when he’s mainly living in Dragonstone under Rhaenyra and Daemon’s watchful eye. It’s possible that Otto tries to make inroads with other Houses a lot earlier on now, even potentially suggesting matches with some of the Blacks (such as Rhaena/Aemond) to try and gain hostages in guise of mending bridges.
They could also try to make hay out of the Cannibal itself in spreading rumours to undermine Rhaenyra. Prince Lucerys was unable to either hatch a dragon or claim one of a proven Targaryen like Vhagar; what does it say about him that the Cannibal who rejected his trueborn ancestors is willing to have him? The boy clearly can’t control his own dragon, they’re both too unstable to be near the city, never mind potentially in line for the Iron Throne? The Cannibal is a monster that devours its own kind; it surely is a creature shunned by the gods, and it’s claiming is actually a sign of their disfavour towards Rhaenyra who has proved as wild and greedy as any dragon-
As for Aemond…well. In this verse, he and Luke might have been tentatively closer as they bonded over their insecurity over their lack of dragons. However, there was also a lot of input from the adults in Aemond’s life that Luke and his brothers were not to be trusted and that unlike Aemond, Luke’s failure to claim a dragon was just punishment by the gods for Rhaenyra’s treachery and slattery in bearing a bastard.
The confrontation on Driftmark was therefore probably a lot more personal on both Luke and Aemond’s end even before Luke slashed his eye and in Aemond’s mind proved right everything that Alicent had ever said about him.
There’s no dragon that can truly overshadow Vhagar and the wonder of claiming her, but to hear Luke now has a dragon after all, and it’s one their House was never before able to tame? That whilst he’s still in agony and facing a life forever altered by Luke’s actions, Luke is currently bouncing around with his own massive dragon that didn’t cost him an eye?
also the fact that Luke went off and found a new dragonless bestie in Rhaena after Aemond told him to go fuck his apology and they’re now unbreakable Wild Dragon BFFs and likely to be betrothed
Yeah, things would be spicy enough even without Viserys (awed and incredibly concerned all in one about what the Cannibal’s claiming means, which is another route Otto may try to exploit) deciding that having these two rambunctious young lads learn to control their monster dragons together might be just the thing to help the rift…

Did Lord Dagon and Howard Lovecraft know each other?
If you love Lovecraft, as much as I do, then you definitely noticed references to his universe in GO. Yeah I'm talking about Hastur and Dagon. We also can suppose, that Lovecraft existed in GOverse. And let's imagine their communication for fun and Dagon's image as we see her. Its not a full proper analysis, mostly likely I give you small excursion into mythology about Dagon and some headcanons.
Origin
Dagon in Lovecraft!verse wasn't created from scratch. It was a Canaan god of prosperity (it was started to be interpreted as a fish-god in the Middle Ages, but its just a mistake). Later Dagon is mentioned in Old Testament as head god of the Philistines.
"Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand."
"And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon. And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of Jehovah. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again. And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of Jehovah; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands (lay) cut off upon the threshold; only (the stump of) Dagon was left to him. Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod, unto this day. But the hand of Jehovah was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with tumors, even Ashdod and the borders thereof. And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us; for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god."
A meta about this episode could be here, but I am not good at interpretations of the Old Testament. Maybe someone else will try.
In the Middle ages humans began to interpret him as a fish-god. We call it a mistake, but what if Dagon had visited Earth and inspired someone to this plausible description? Anyway, since then Dagon is associated with sea and fish. Good job for a demon.
In the 17th century, Dagon is mentioned along with the other fallen angels in Milton's "Paradise Lost". And in addition to sacred text this mention is also based on the medieval interpretation as a fish-god, which is actually (as science says) incorrect:
Paradise Lost is a very curious poem to read for ineffable fandom (but IMO very tedious), and not only for us. It has big cultural value, and no wonder HPL was inspired by it. There is a direct mention of Paradise Lost in his short story "Dagon".
Next came one
Who mourn'd in earnest, when the Captive Ark
Maim'd his brute Image, head and hands lopt off
In his own Temple, on the grunsel edge,
Where he fell flat, and sham'd his Worshipers:
DAGON his Name, Sea Monster, upward Man
And downward Fish: yet had his Temple high
Rear'd in AZOTUS, dreaded through the Coast
Of PALESTINE, in GATH and ASCALON,
And ACCARON and GAZA's frontier bounds.
HPL's influence
Well, what can I headcanon suppose. There are some details in their stories which could be received from a demon directly.
We will take rn two HPL's stories: "Dagon" and "Shadows over Innsmouth". In "Dagon" a protagonist ends up on a strange island which is kinda like naked ocean floor and finds there a mysterious monolith with glyphs and supltures carved on it. A giantic creature comes out of sea to the monolith. Narrator escapes in his boat. Later he tries to find something out about fish-god Dagon and slowly loses his mind.
I dream of a day when they may rise above the billows to drag down in their reeking talons the remnants of puny, war-exhausted mankind—of a day when the land shall sink, and the dark ocean floor shall ascend amidst universal pandemonium.
Not that Dagon was a famous deity for the world. But somehow the narrator tells about them. Certainly, HPL was well informed about mythology and he could choose a sea of more expressive sea-gods (pun intended). But he had chosen Dagon. What if it wasn't just random? I think Dagon told him something about demons and ocean. And we know how much she does want The Armageddon. Universal pandemonium, you know.
I think she could be male-presented at that time. Of course if you can call THIS a male.
Tumblr media
This is the illustration for "Dagon". The creature is one of the Deep Ones, fish-frog men who were an underwater nation in Lovecraft's world.
Or probably Dagon herself looked like this:
Tumblr media
Deep Ones are described in "Shadows Over Innsmouth". They are immortal, they can control a number of fish in the sea and they wear strange jewelry (And I remember her strange necklace from here). Their leaders (probably kinda deities) were Father Dagon and Mother Hydra.
This wondeful art was created by gorgeous @birdgirl22
*fangirling sounds*
A curious detail that appears in SoI. Innsmouth is a town whose inhabitants were members of mysterious Esoteric Order of Dagon. The Order sacrificed people to Dagon and gave to the Deep Ones their women to mate with them. A whole population of Innsmouth consists of hybrids. And this kinda demonic order was in a building of local masonic lodge.
Wait what~
Tumblr media
I will just leave here my meta about masons in GOverse. TL;DR: the Lodge in the show may be a demonic nest. What a suspicious coincidence...
After all, I can add something about most notable traits of HPL's books.
The first is an anti-anthropocentrism - an idea that humanity is not the main race in the world for everyone and not the only one. In Lovecraft!verse there are old and huge races and deities (Cthulhu, Dagon etc.). In GO!verse there are angels and demons which don't think about humans at all (except azicrow but still)
The second is that HPL's deities aren't like humans as much as demons aren't. Their mind are utterly different.
And finally the third. THE INEFFABILITY. We don't get detailed descriptions of horrors.
Well, everything written above is just my headcanon but I think it makes sense to research HPL's work and maybe I can find more innuendos. Now I just want the art of Dagon chilling with HPL.

Notes: Hi, welcome, I really wanted to write an MCU crossover with the Fallen London 'verse so here we are. Imagine House of M except Wanda Maximoff became an actual factual God and it actually wasn't that bad after all. And now imagine all of that is background noise in favor of one unhinged Devil and one overly hinged Epistolarian. An Intrepid Epistolarian.
Oh also Wanda's waging war against Queen Victoria. It's fine.
For those of you who have read my other Zemo fics, finished and unfinished, if you notice similarities between this fic and the other ones... yes. I am Frankenstein trying to raise this fanfiction monster and put scenes, passages, and themes to better use than languishing in my Ao3/Tumblr cupboard. The First taught Restraint, and the Second Betrayed. The Third taught us Hunger and the Fourth we Remade. The Fifth will live on in the Heart of the Sun but the Sixth did quickly Fade. The Seventh City will never Fall, never ending the Deal we made.
She kept some of the old names when she took this place, you know. Built onto it, even when her Renewed Empress had to bend the knee to the Scarlet One, sealed away in her undying mausoleum.
The Proclaimers of the Cult of the Sanctified, still seated at the Avid Horizon’s High Gate and whispering Truths to their counterparts on the other side, were right — the Seventh City would never fall; the Bazaar would never be compelled to deliver that fatal missive to that Beacon of Bright Betrayal it loved so much; there would be no opportunity to argue that Seven Cities worth of love is proof enough of Her Worthy Love.
If there is one thing you know about opportunities, it is that they are also opportunities to fail.
The long tradition of the Duchy of Sokovia — that Bulwark which once stood the test of time against even the Tsars of Russia — is not what it once was. There is, in fact, no such thing as Sokovia now, not the way you would think. There are Sokovian people, clinging to an identity lest it be lost in the abyss below, but all that remains of the Earthly land which remembered the Duchy’s history with the joint Empires of Austria and Hungary is now nothing more than a chasm of stone and steel.
A monument to violent delights in want of violent ends.
Cast your eyes not to the ruins of her past but to the gleaming future written in the stars ab—
The sound of a train whistle drowns out what remains of the tinned announcement, an earsplitting shriek you endure for what feels like forever, but is in fact — if the clock before you is accurate — no more than two minutes. Which — as it turns out — is plenty of time to interrupt the announcement’s conclusion and leave ringing silence in its wake.
Good. You were rather tired of hearing your own voice drone on any longer.
You turn your head away from the train schedule you had previously been pretending to occupy your mind with, watching the rails with mild impatience and fidgeting with your gloves.
He is late.
It’s not abnormal, really, for the more independent locomotives — those not on the Scarlet Empress’s own payroll, that is — to run on their own definition of time, but you’ve never known your contact to be anything more than a man of his word.
When you’ve properly interpreted his words, that is.
No matter. You have the luxury of time. Collecting your luggage takes little effort — a rather bulging handbag and a briefcase is not so terrible compared to the crates of fuel, souls, and hours you see being carted around you — as you step briskly towards the more busting central parts of port. The station itself has seen better days, almost empty save for a handful of dock-workers and the occasional Employee making sure the schedule runs on time, but as you pass through an open archway into the city proper, they seem eager to resume whatever activity they might otherwise have abandoned for your intrusive presence.
NORTH.
Tumblr media
How did it happen? Was it prophecy — or maybe some mad interpretation of the scream-whispers of Distant Polythreme, a vision of the Garden — that led the Proclaimers to make their rhyme, completing the riddle and speaking for the Masters themselves?
Something must have rung true to the Masters, for them to solve the riddle.
Novi Grad rose, then fell. Fell until it could fall no further, until there was nothing left of decades of history but ash and blood for the ghosts of her denizens to wander through. Until there was nothing for the Masters and their bats to drag to cavernous depths.
So she, in her infinite tragedy and infinite pain, became the solution.
Your tea, madame. You look up from your scribbling absently, glancing briefly up at the server and then feeling your polite smile immediately fade off your face.
Must you always play games?
Helmut Zemo stands before you with a perfectly placid smile on his cruelly handsome face, So lovely to see you again, sweetling, and you’re quite welcome for the tea.
You narrowly avoid the temptation to roll your eyes, closing your journal and placing the cap on your pen, its nib glimmering venomously in the candlelight, You are late. A casual accusation, one he dismisses with an easy wave of his hand, just before seating himself before you and stealing a biscuit from your place.
And you are impatient. Surely this must mean you have missed me, little bird. If he notices the way you flinch at the sweetname, struggling to compose yourself before you manage to settle on sternness, he does not say.
You have faced worse things than Helmut Zemo, you know. Worse than the ache that slices through your heart when you look at him and his easy smile, the one you might have fallen in love with once again, if you forgot yourself.
You will not.
Instead, you breathe, letting the heavy air in your lungs out slowly as you tug the fingers of your glove until the whole thing is loose enough to be removed entirely.
You always hated getting biscuit crumbs on your whisper-satin fineries.
You asked me to meet you here, Helmut, a fact which he seems to dismiss with another too-sharp smile, eyes flickering over you.
It burns. Licking over the neckline of your dress before moving down to the delicate pearl buttons that hold shut your bodice, heat rising over the thin lace collar wrapped around your throat, and you wonder idly how often he fines pleasure in watching people struggle to breathe and die.
I’m told you have been busy, he tells you flatly, practiced hand snapping his biscuit in half before dipping one perfect semi-circle into the cup of tea he’d placed in front of you, Too busy, it seems, to inform your husband of your whereabouts.
The knifeblade edge of his voice is enough, slipping past the plates of armor you always try to wrap around yourself every time you agree to meet him, his joyless smile the barbs he leaves in your heart, ensuring it will bleed for him for a few months more after your eventual parting.
The first time he’d touched your cheek in the shadow of a clockwork sun while you wept, his lips ghosting  your skin, you nearly fell to your knees at his feet.
That should have been the last time you would ever see him, as he whispered sweet nothings and sweeter promises in a language you did not speak, burning intention into your skin and leaving you forever bound, words falling from his lips like a waterfall.
The third time you met Helmut Zemo, you cried. And the fourth. And the fifth.
You refuse to meet his eyes, smoothing out the wrinkles in your gown with trembling hands, Is this what you came to remind me?
He does not stop smiling, even as you make note of the uneasy tension sitting on his shoulders, the vicious gleam in his eyes as he continues his visual examination of your countenance, tea soaked biscuit melting idly on his tongue.
Yes, it is.
You should be grateful for his honesty — Devils rarely are, after all.
He continues before you have a chance to consider it, How much farther do you plan to run from this place, sweetling, before time returns you back to me?
You wish he wouldn’t call you sweetling.
You haven’t been sweet in a thousand years.
But that’s beside the point, isn’t it? He already knows that, anyway.
Though you suppose that maybe you ought to tell him about something he doesn’t know.
Why did you call me here, Helmut?
Why does any man call his wife back to the port where they parted last? I missed you.
You swallow thickly, avoiding the unyielding blade of his sharp-eyed gaze and even sharper smile, refusing to let your heart leap out to him as it aches to do, You are lying, Helmut, you accuse, pretending to busy yourself with the biscuits he brought to your table.
As always, as you should have expected, he only grins at you — a cruel, twisted grimace that makes your stomach twist not-wholly-unpleasantly — before reaching out and brushing his knuckles over your cheek, Would you let me lie, little bird?
I certainly hope you don’t expect an honest answer to that question.
His laugh is as sharp as his smile, a huff of bemusement you recall bringing you happiness before, a long time ago.
Now it reminds you of the taste of poison, of bile curling in the back of your throat, of blood and metal and the screaming agony of time stretched to its very limit.
The silence too, stretches between you, taut as the wires you would wrap around your palms to cut through cheese and impertinent throats, waiting for you to finally surrender and rise to your feet, gather your things and bid him as formal a goodbye as you’ll allow yourself — always just out of reach, I have no intention of playing games, Helmut, you challenge with the same tone of voice you might use to scold the Empress’s misbehaving sons, If you refuse to do me the courtesy of your honest, then do me the gift of your absence.
He watches you, eyes glimmering amber with insult, but does not dishonor you enough to reach out, There was a time, little bird, when you loved me without such reservation.
The words burn across your skin like living fire, your vows and his molded together in a single remembered sigil, a bond forced with the very language of Judgment, unbidden agony scorching your composure as you make a desperate, futile attempt to push away the memory; his voice soft, the low timbre of his accent sliding over your ears like honey in your mouth, gentle lips on yours as he sealed your fate with a kiss, I have memorized you like a prayer.
You could almost have forgotten he was a liar, standing lost in your memories as you are, forgotten the price of promise and the weight of truth.
Almost.
The tears burn at the backs of your eyes, but you blink them back, let bone grind against bone before, More fool I, then, for thinking you did the same.
You turn to walk towards the door, four sovereigns in hand to pay for your meal — interrupted though it has been — making a concentrated effort to not look back, even as you hear his voice cutting through the otherwise silent room, When everything goes wrong, it is a terrible burden to bear alone, don’t you think?
You cannot help yourself, can you? Shoulders slumping as you declare a reluctant defeat and turn to face him, swearing your heart has lit aflame.
You cannot ignore His Law forever, little bird.
You know nothing of responsibility, Helmut, your voice is cold as the icy expanse beyond the warm walls of Novi Grad station, still aching to leave and frustrated by your uncooperative feet.
There’s a twitch at the corner of his lips, amusement sparking in his own eyes, And what of you, little bird, what have you learned of responsibility since your escape from Perdurance?
You visibly flinch, the name sparking an endless array of horror and memories within you, just as his expression falls into uncharacteristic regret.
Nothing, clearly, you reply hollowly, words bitter on the back of your teeth, Much to your pleasure, I think.
That wounds him, to your surprise, hurt painting his face before he controls his features and buries both regret and rage beneath a placid mask, Infinite freedom is as tight a prison as an opulent cage, on occasion.

Half asleep dumb thoughts about Kirby Game/Anime crossover specifically with the forgotten lands.
At the end of Kirby forgotten land game everyone trying to get back to planet popstar but end up in animeverse.
Game!Kirby being insanely OP with all the fully upgraded powerups and oneshoting any nightmare monster with dragon fire or other powerups.
Game!Kirby using sword upgrade that gives Meta knight’s mask and sword and everyone suddenly being convinced that OH GOD Meta knight is Kirby’s dad!! And Anime!Meta knight is like ‘No I’m not…I don’t think so??’
Game!Dedede looking at as counterpart and like ‘Welp time to start a coup’ because he’s being a jerk to his subjects and also his kid the entire time he’s there he’s just like ‘WHAT THE FUCK YOU ARE TRYING TO KILL A KID, ANOTHER VERISON OF MY KID THE TODDLER VERSION OF MY KID HE CAN’T TALK!!!’ he also keeps talking to the waddle dees like ‘You guys should unionise or just rise up again we could just throw a coup’
Game!Meta knight is spending his entire time there trying to stop his husband doing a hostile takeover.
Everyone talking about Nightmare and the monsters and how scary they are and all the game verse just flashing back to the eldritch entities they’ve all faced numerous times and trying to side step telling these small children about them.
Bonus: Seen art of Kirby with angel wings rather than bast wings and just him seeing them and then everyone kinda convinced Kirby is somehow Dedede and Meta knight’s kid.

Ummm! I'm so curious of a few of those Wednesday ones!🥰 I need to read them asap🤣
What is a kidnapping story? Is it wyler?
Hyde as a sex God? And Wednesday being the priestess? Ou? I need more info🥺😍 honestly. Is it kinda like she worships him? Or pray to him?
Kraken Wednesday I did leave a reply on your last ask about that one. I can't wait to see how you go with it. It'd be cool to see her either shift between a human and kraken form. Killing sailors who pass through her territory and Tyler being the only person that sees her in her human form and he's the only sailor to pass through unscathed
The Kidnapping story is part of The Sexual Education of Wednesday Addams series (a.k.a. Private Tutor 'verse), though it takes place several years into the future. I've posted part of it for the blood kink prompt of Wyler Kinktober: Across Your Skin, On My Tongue
I don't want to say too much about the Hyde Sex God/Priestess Wednesday AU, but it's an idea I was allowed to adopt by the ones who originally came up with it because none of them had the intention to write it. Hydes are sex gods and Wednesday definitely worships them... especially a particular Hyde. And well, given the nature of their godhood, you can imagine *how* that worship is expressed. 😏
For the Kraken!Wednesday AU: Drunk pirate: *going on about the horrible monsters just waiting to kill innocent travellers* Tyler: Well to be fair, we are intruding in their territory. You wouldn't let a bunch of strangers just travel across your land without challenging them, would you? Drunk pirate: Don't expect that they'll spare you just because you sympathize with them! Wednesday, listening in the water: You have no idea how wrong you are...

Here's my silly Linkverse title and timeline! :D say hello to Hearts Linked Together, a Linkverse that won't ever have much content besides character designs!
Okay a description under the cut. It might get long, I'm unsure how to go about explaining. The four vertical lines are locations, not parallel timelines. I don't take absolutely everything into account (you'll notice a lack of direct Triforce and Ganon stuff) but I like what I ended up with!
PS: I've made a few edits to this and the picture since I first edited. BotW and TotK aren't different Links that was my b. I also added more blue lines to the Gods of the Sky spot to illustrate them moving around.
Important thing to note: the only time travel/time shenanigans in this 'verse is with Hyrule Warriors and Ocarina of Time. And Tears of the Kingdom that too.
THIS BEGINS with aliens. The Zonai and the Minish were the same alien species that settled on the planet of Hyrule to escape civil war on their own. They separated early on and adapted to their environments differently. They both lived in the sky for a while, because Hyrule has naturally occuring skylands, and some of the natural fauna were intimidating. (Monsters, dragons, fey, gods.) The Hylians come from the moon. A small group settled on the planet and struggle to adapt. They lost their technology in the turbulent transition.
The Minish remained pastoral and went to the surface to help the emerging Hylian race. The Minish Cap happens. That Link forges the Picori blade and gathers the elements. (His four copies are spectral.) Shortly after him, Four Swords happens, with the most attention on the cryptid four sword kid who came out to save the world and then disappeared back into the woods. (His four copies are independent but not individuals.)
The settlement prospers, the Minish population decreases, and Hylians spread across the world, into 4 distinct geographic areas. The Zonai, also dying out, descend and intermarry with Hylians, in a different geographic area. The beginning of TotK happens, including the massive Imprisoning War. The consequences of this war are far-reaching and devastating.
The Land of Light and Shadow: this area emerges from the war somewhat unscathed, being on the other side of the world. They continue to build their kingdom. This land is named for the parallel plane that is in close contact with the area, being farthest from the planet's moon's orbital path. Things like Light and Force are also strong here, unknowable forces that occasionally grant powers.
The Land of the Gods: this land is named for the gods that have dogged its history and heroes, and is closest to the moon, which is where these extraordinary individuals get their powers and godhood. The Imprisoning War hit them pretty hard, and one of these moon-touched aliens (Hylia) raised settlements into the air. The First Hero is part of this.
The Land of the Fey is where the Zonai chose to descend, and is hit the hardest by the Imprisoning War. Their small colonies are absolutely decimated and the land is salted. Fey are natural creatures, but aren't always friendly. The Zonai technology and settlements remain high in the air, unreachable and usually invisible. Most non-Hylian or non-Hylian-derived species come from this area.
The Great Sea is a series of islands. They barely hear of the Imprisoning War, and only have a small population of Hylians that grows a bit through the islands.
After the war, all of these areas and kingdoms are cut off from each other. Their histories proceed separately for a time.
The Land of Light and Shadow: a group of people move permanently into the Dark World. Link to the Past, Link's Awakening. The kingdom grows. Link Between Worlds reveals the budding kingdom in the Dark World. Twilight Princess deals more with them. Four Swords Adventures (+manga in case you were worried) unlocks more of the Dark World's secrets. (These copies are individuals, and remain so after their adventure.) The kingdom prospers and begins to explore, eventually resulting in another near-globalization. Hyrule Warriors happens, doing a little time traveling.
The Land of the Gods: after rising into the sky, Skyward Sword happens. Hylia is the strongest goddess of the time, and manages to send copies of the Master Sword to the three other lands. People settle on the surface, isolated from any other places. Ocarina of Time happens, but does not create alternate timelines. Hylia takes the people and places displaced by the time shift and plunks them at the beginning of the Great Sea's time. This kingdom expands and fractures, and Hylia's time shenanigans weaken her, so she goes to the fey land to recover. (coughcough was bullied away because people didn't agree with her coughcough) And then Majora’s Mask. Din, Farore, and Nayru rise as the land's patron goddesses instead, instigating the Oracle games. Triforce Heroes happens to a Hylian passing by Hytopia (The copies are simply doppels.) These kingdoms remain small but grow strong. They have the occasional battle. They participate in the globalization efforts.
The Land of the Fey: this land struggles to rebuild. They are plagued by monsters. The fey (fairies, great fairies, satori, dragons) understand it's a problem, but they do not have mortal minds. Eventually they call a hero of their own. Hyrule Fantasy (aka LoZ 1) and Adventure of Link happen. This land is geographically isolated and doesn't really run into anyone else, until the migration from the Great Sea brings technology. Spirit Tracks happens. The great kingdom is built, they build the Divine Beasts and the Guardians, and drive back the Calamity for the first time. Hylia rises again, older and wiser and less powerful. Then Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom happen. Only after that does this land reconnect with those outside of it.
The Great Sea: this area is mostly empty until Hylia places the time-displaced Hyrule on one of the larger islands (called antidiluvian, or before the flood). It wasn't a stable island, though, and most of the kingdom fell under the ocean in a great big wave. People rebuild and make their own cultures. Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass happen. They find the shores of the Land of the Fey, and facilitate a migration to that land.
Each of the yellow stars (and the colorful ones in terms of FSA) represents a different Hero.

warmth.  for our muses to seek warmth from each other, after being caught in a rain shower. ━  sent from @stingslikeabee.
●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●   JACK hadn’t anticipated the rain  ━  then again, he never did. He took the hand of the brunette woman behind him and tugged her toward the low - seated lifeguard station at the top of the sand. The strip of beach they were walking along was more rocky and less forgiving than its prettier counterparts a mile down the coast, and it was therefore largely forgotten. Tourists didn’t flock to it the same way they did the picturesque places that looked good on post cards.
JACK spared a glance at the area around them. There was no one to see him turn the doorknob a certain way and lightly push his shoulder into it. Not that the guards would care ( he covered their breaks when it was slow and had permission to use any of their shelters )  ━  but he had lost his damn key a few days ago. He didn’t need someone causing a fuss over such a minor break - in.
❝ C’mere, ❞ he urged softly, grasping Melissa’s hand. JACK left his board outside the door and led his new companion inside. As the rain increased, pounding against the slight structure, he flicked on a light and set his duffel bag on the floor. There was a few cabinets, three worn chairs, an old table, and a threadbare sofa in the space. Since it was hardly used officially now, it had become a storage of sorts.
❝ I think  .    .    .  ❞ JACK swept his blonde hair over his shoulder and bent down. His still damp wetsuit in a clear bag ; a bright red leash ; board wax ; sunscreen  ━  all were produced from the depths of his bag and thrown onto the table. After pawing his way to the bottom, he made a noise of triumph. ❝ Yeah ! okay ! This is why you bring extras. ❞ JACK lifted a fluffy towel out and draped it over Melissa’s shoulders gently. ❝ Don’t judge the pattern, ’kay? ❞ He flipped the corner over to show her the cutesy ladybug design that decorated the fabric. ❝ Clearance towels save lives and, more importantly, my wallet. ❞
JACK’s smile was the same as it would be one day : toothy, broad, and as vibrant as the man himself. His blue eyes wrinkled at the corner in a similar fashion, too, though the laugh that caused that little change was quieter. The scruff on his face was pure yellow in color ( no sign of the salt - and - pepper that would later grace it ), and his tanned skin was smooth, free of the fine wrinkles and little scars Melissa had memorized after they met. It was easy to see LADYBUG in his face, but at the same time  .    .    .  JACK DANIEL was his own person. Named for his mother’s favorite thing in the world, he teased after he introduced himself to her.
❝ Hey  ━  you good? ❞ JACK stepped closer to Melissa, brow furrowed, as he took note of her shoulders trembling in spite of the towel being pulled tight. Without really thinking about what he was doing, he wrapped his arms around her. ❝ Maybe this’ll help. ❞

Ranking (Most) Monster Hunter World/Iceborne Battle Themes
This tier list will be mainly based on how much I personally enjoy it, so themes' accuracies to the monsters' personalities n such take less of a priority over simply sounding pleasing to the ears (but other factors may additionally pop up depending on the track). Monster Hunter's music sounds as unique as it does because each song tends to have one or two instruments that steal the spotlight for each theme, so in my commentary under the cut, I'll be giving these instruments a small highlight as well! Here's the full tier list! For the large monster area themes, I choose a representative monster for each: Rathalos for Ancient Forest, Diablos for Wildspire Waste, Legiana for Coral Highlands, Odogaron for Rotten Vale, Lavasioth for Elder's Recess, Barioth for Hoarfrost Reach, and Pink Rathian for Guiding Lands.
Tumblr media
Commentary goes in order of the tier list from top to bottom n left to right. There's a lot.
(@junko-jinko since you were interested heh)
Red Glare In The Darkness (Nargacuga) - Nargacuga’s theme takes the top spot! The instrumentation is so unique and upbeat, it’s a blast every time I listen to it. The bass guitar section slays, and the chorus is mind-blowingly perfect. It could bring tears to my eyes. Instrument highlight: bass guitar and piano
Brutish Indigo (Brachydios) - Piledriving its way into second place is Brachydios’ theme! This song grew on me exponentially recently thanks to really listening in and appreciating the mallet instruments that pop up in the intro and bridge. Whatever that mallet instrument is, it fuckin’ ROCKS! This whole track carries the ‘harumph’ of a big monster ready to have the most intense boxing match of its life. Instrument highlight: mallet percussion
Spark Of Blue (Zinogre) - ROCK N ROLL TAKES THIRD PLACE BABY! That electric guitar is a godsend, I just wish it was emphasized more! This theme is insanely catchy, too. A hype battle theme through and through. Instrument highlight: electric guitar
Safi’jiiva (Not released on Spotify) - Holy fuck this medley takes me to a higher plane of existence. Honestly you could just ignore everything else and focus on the target theme (LIKE JEEBUS CHRISTMAS THAT BASS HAUNTS ME) and that’s enough to warrant its spot among the greats. But I won’t just focus on that cause this whole theme is awesome! Exceptionally fitting for an elder dragon that could evaporate you with a tiny droplet of its fire. Menacing, but turns around into a heroic masterpiece. Instrument highlight: choir and bass
Congregation Of The Fearless - The composer really took all of the themes of the other areas and combined them into one flawlessly. My jaw is on the floor as we speak. Coral Highlands’ instrumentation really shines the best here, harnessing the handpan/steel tongue drum to its fullest potential. And I hear that electric guitar and bass guitar in there! Such slick implementation! Instrument highlight: handpan/steel tongue drum and bass guitar
Keeper Of Hades (Vaal Hazak) - The back-and-forth between piano and harpsichord throughout this theme is so god damn good AUGH. Perfect mix of regality and lethality. Instrument highlight: harpsichord and piano
The Brilliance That Rules The Everstream (Kulve Taroth)  - I’ve always adored Kulve’s medley. Each phase shimmers like gold. The organ in the second phase is always an attention-getter and the choir in the third phase is godly. It’s just solid (gold heh) all around, from beginning to end. Also I swear there’s a moment in the third phase’s verse that has a motif used in How To Train Your Dragon, which adds to the nostalgia for me. Instrument highlight: choir and organ
Ancient Leshen (not released on Spotify) - A theme I haven’t paid much attention to until now (but I have beaten this mofo), and once again I am floored by how excellent this sounds. Every single instrument gets its time to shine and sounds absolutely lovely! Instrument highlight: vocals and flute
Splendiferous Silver Sovereign (Velkhana) - The piano is the star of the show and it owns it! I love the staccato rhythm of the drums and brass crescendoing into the piano solos. Fit for the elder dragon of ice! Instrument highlight: piano
Morning Star Of The Dark Tide (Namielle) - An underrated theme for an underrated elder dragon! While it's on the slower side, it maintains a very entertaining rhythm with interesting use of marimba and piano. I’ll ride these waves any day. Instrument highlight: marimba and piano
Alatreon (not released on Spotify) - I haven’t really given Alatreon’s theme much of a listen before since I have admittedly never beat him. BUT now that I am listening to the full thing I can say with certainty this hits hard. This track really just says ‘oh you’re SO fucked’ and I love it. Instrument highlight: percussion and guitar
From The Rumblings Come A Song/A Single Bloom In An Eternity (Shara Ishvalda) - The perfect example of how to make battle music terrifying as fuck. The first phase is nothing to scoff at, but the second is when all hell breaks loose. THE GOD DAMN LAUGHING SNUCK IN AT ONE MOMENT??? HELLO??? Can’t believe this track can manage to be both creepy and really fun to listen to at the same time. Instrument highlight: mallet percussion and what sounds like a pungi flute??? Not quite but its very similar
The Invading Tyrant (Bazelguese) - Bazelguese’s theme is the One-Winged Angel of Monster Hunter. It’s incredibly iconic and instantly fills you with fear in and outside of the game. And once the intro subsides, it builds up to a banger chorus that shines with heroism. Instrument highlight: assorted strings
Murmurs From The Land Forbidden - One of the best area themes in the game. The chorus kicks major ass and that flute can fuckin’ get it. Instrument highlight: flute and whatever that introduction instrument is… synths???
Empress Of The Flame (Lunastra) - Teo’s wife improves his theme in every aspect. Not only harp, but also piano and harpsichord?! What a treat to the ears! Instrument highlight: harp and harpsichord
Ruler Of The Flame (Teostra) - Man I feel bad for sleepin’ on this theme. Those drums are absolutely fantastic and the whole song grooves really well. Instrument highlight: drums
The Howling Of The Lone Wolf (Yian Garuga) - This theme feels like orderly chaos in a way. It’s bombastic, but doesn’t go into overdrive. Those bongos are groovy, and it definitely snatched up some of Brachydios’ amazing mallet percussion. Instrument highlight: bongos
Roars Across The Hinterlands - That introduction woodwind hits real hard. Doesn’t waste its time to get right into the action. It’s a really fun take on a theme for a snowy area. Instrument highlight: percussion
World’s End (Arch-Tempered Nergigante) - Spiky boy 2 electric boogaloo! This version is one I feel like I can listen to more often and really enjoy. Nothing too special, but that chorus sure can be a banger. Instrument highlight: drums
Dancer In the Coral Highlands - Instantly hooked with the handpan and/or steel tongue drum introduction. A pleasant mix of hard-hitting ferocity with moments of elegance slipped in-between. Instrument highlight: handpan and/or steel tongue drum
Guiding Lamp To The Otherworld/How Life Springs Anew (Xeno’jiiva) - First phase takes its sweet time to establish the otherworldly nature of Xeno, but the second phase is where it’s really at. The headstrong march of the brass and drums leads the charge until the chorus unleashes a pretty string symphony. Not something I’d replay often, but gosh darn it I’ll revel in the beauty while I can. Instrument highlight: assorted strings
Even Elder Dragons Tremble (Nergigante) - The chaos radiates off this spikey boy in waves and the music reflects that perfectly. A rambunctious romp with an angry overgrown hedgehog accompanied by this song makes it all the more entertaining. But it’s not really a song I’d listen to on loop or come back to often. Instrument highlight: assorted brass
The Shadow Upon The Tempest (Kushala Daora) - I’m surprised at how much I find this song to be decently enjoyable when I find Kushala hunts in World to be really annoying. Really does sound like what someone would hear in the middle of a tornado and being windblown to hell and back. Instrument highlight: orchestral chimes
Savage Of The Ancient Forest - Standard fare, let's ya know what you're in for and it serves its purpose well. Instrument highlight: trumpet
Rulers Of The Wildspire - On the milder side, has a lotta fun instrumentation though. But unfortunately it’s not something I’d prefer to listen to over other tracks. Instrument highlight: assorted percussion and guitar
Forces Of Land And Life - The bells are what make it interesting, otherwise it just kinda feels blander than the others on the ‘alright’ tier. The chorus really only lasts about ten seconds. Instrument highlight: bells
Beast With Fire Upon Its Back (Zorah Magdaros) - As slow and surprisingly tame as this track is, it does feel like the embodiment of scaling up a mountain-sized volcanic monster. Is that organ I hear in the chorus aftermath? Instrument highlight: assorted brass
The Beast Bares Its Fangs (Tigrex) - Another instance where it's very fitting for the monster, but doesn’t have much replayability. For some unknown reason the added harp riffs sprinkled in make me laugh. Ah yes, let's give the aggressive feral creature that can damage you with its roars alone some nice lil’ harp riffs :) Instrument highlight: harp (for the funny)
The Voracious Devil (Deviljho) - I will live and die a Deviljho hater (not even him throwing other monsters around like toys can save him from my burning frustration hunting him), and his music definitely reflects how much of a prickly bastard he is. Definitely not replayable for me, but it sure does get the point across that you do not wanna cross paths with this giant pickle. Instrument highlight: assorted strings

Insecurities They Wouldn’t Tell You They Have
Tumblr media
Characters: Shenhe, Ganyu, Ei, Ayaka, Kazuha, Beidou, Eula and Hu Tao.
Warnings: Mentions of scars, body image and self esteem issues.
Notes: Not requested, just something I wanted to write because I’m very soft for them and they’re allowed to be flawed <3
Tumblr media
Shenhe’s insecurity is her scars. She has scars all over her hands from practicing with her polearm, her arms from fighting monsters, her face from when she was a child and her father abandoned her in that cave with that half-god, half-beast she fought to death. When you hold Shenhe’s face in your hands, she hopes her scars are not unpleasant to look at, that you don’t feel scared or repulsed by them. She doesn’t voice this, but something in the way you so tenderly kiss the scar on her eyebrow, the one under her eye, the scar on her chin, tells her that she doesn’t have anything to worry about.
.
Ganyu has many insecurities, but the one that causes her the most anxiety is her tummy. Or her weight, in general, would be more accurate to say. Ganyu puts on weight fairly quickly and she has been painfully aware ever since she can remember. She always carefully plans all of her meals, always making sure she doesn’t exceed herself, but were she to put on some weight by any chance, Ganyu dearly hopes you don’t really mind. She’s never voiced these thoughts, but you know her like the palm of your hand, so whenever you’re lazily lying in bed together, you wrap your arms around her waist and press soft kisses to her belly. Ganyu immediately flushes red and asks you to stop with a quiet voice, but you giggle and keep leaving soft kisses on every inch of skin your lips can reach, because that’s how endlessly beautiful Ganyu is to you.
.
Ei’s insecurity is her lack of knowledge of modern things. She’s well-versed in all the fighting techniques across Inazuma, well-read with the knowledge of thousands of years of history, but when it comes to simple and modern things like Taking a picture, or Drinking boba tea, she’s at a loss for words. Ei hopes you don’t mind explaining things to her. She very much enjoys taking a stroll with you through the streets of Inazuma, even more so when every outing with you turns into a learning experience, and you’re always so patient with her. Ei is really grateful to you.
.
Ayaka’s main insecurity is her inexperience when it comes to matters of the heart. She’s never been one to have that many friends, simply because she hasn’t had the opportunity to. Having a lover, however, seems like an even bigger challenge for which she has little preparation. Ayaka gets flustered by the tiniest of things. A heartfelt compliment, a brush of your hands together while walking, your hand pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. Ayaka is quick to hide her flushed expression with her fan, and she can’t even fathom what it will be like when you give her her first kiss! She’s excited, but also endlessly nervous, so she hopes it’s okay with you to take things slow for now <3
.
Kazuha is his lack of possessions. As a wanderer, he’s never really cared for earthly possessions. All he ever needs is a clear sky above his head and the endless and vast world around him to explore. But ever since you came into his life and swept him off his feet, Kazuha has been thinking. He wants to build a life with you, but he has nothing to offer. His clan, once proud and wealthy, vanished with him being the only one alive, and he left that life to pursue his dream of exploring the world. He hopes you don’t mind what little he has, for his love for you is as vast as the sky above.
.
Beidou’s insecurity is the fact that she’s always out at sea. Don’t get her wrong, it’s the life she chose for herself and one that she adores profoundly. She wouldn’t change herself or her lifestyle, she doesn’t think she can live anchored to the same place every day of her life. Still, you’re always her reason to come back to land. In you, Beidou has found the home she can always return to. She doesn’t regret a thing, but she hopes you don’t get tired and leave her for someone who never leaves the land.
.
Eula’s biggest insecurity and burden to bear is her noble upbringing. She’s a Lawrence, but she wishes you could see beyond that title that doesn’t represent her anymore. Everybody in Mondstadt casts her away or has some reservations when interacting with her, and her hardened exterior and cold behavior doesn’t help her case, but still Eula wishes that people could see past her last name, at least when it comes to you. She would hate to hear the people of Mondstadt speaking ill of you. Still, you’ve reassured her time and time again, her hands on yours, warmer, that you love her for her, and your feelings are nothing that any last name nor the people of Mondstadt could ever change. Eula won’t admit this out loud, but she’s never felt more welcomed than she does when she’s wrapped in your arms.
.
Hu Tao’s biggest thing she’s proud of but also her biggest insecurity is her playful behavior, her ability to see the fun in everything. She’s been forced to grow up fast the moment her grandfather wasn’t around to coddle her, and her sunny and cheerful personality is what has given her the strength to move forward and strive for bettering the business her grandfather entrusted her with. Still, in the eyes of the people of Liyue, Hu Tao is nothing more than a nuisance, someone who doesn’t take serious matter to heart, and thus they often cast her away. Hu Tao is nothing other than cheerful and cheeky around you, but inside she dearly hopes you won’t change your mind about her and leave her as everyone in Liyue else has done. She hopes you can see her true emotions, and that they’re enough to make you stay. Though something in the way you so easily comply with her antics, how you let her cup your face and sprinkle your skin with kisses, tells her that you’re here to stay.

You think "God's will" justifies the forcible removal of a group of people from their native land? God gave us a choice, to treat others humanely, or to not do so, and it seems you are in favor of the latter.
Um… have you not read Genesis? Where God promised The Promised Land to Abraham and his descendants? Aka the Israelites ??
Have you read any of the Bible? Did you know there’s more to it than just “love everyone” and “do not judge”? God tells us to condemn sin. To call it out. Did you know that Revelation and the Minor Prophets, and even in Jeremiah and Isaiah have passages and sections about the end times?
Did you know that God never backs out on His promises? The Mosaic covenant is dead because Jesus dying for us and making atonement for our sins replaced the Law. The Davidic covenant - Jesus coming to earth being born from his mine - has been fulfilled so it’s no longer still going. However, the Abrahamic covenant was everlasting. Israel is God’s chosen people, and they always will be, until Jesus comes back to conquer evil and it’s forces. There are so many obvious verses in Revelation explaining how the end and His return revolves around Israel. Literally the entire 11th chapter in Romans is about how God’s promise to the Israelites is not void and how gentiles will provoke them to jealousy in order to lead them to salvation. (Paul was a Jew - the topic was obviously a heavy burden on his heart). If He never takes away His promise of salvation then He’ll never take away His promise to Israel.
Did you know that Palestinian Hamas are literally raping women and children until their pants are soaked with blood? Did you know they are torturing and mutilation people so that their limbs are twisted in more than unnatural positions (Did you not see that poor German woman???)?? Did you know they’re shooting the Israelites’ dogs point blank in cold blood because Muslims hate dogs (a simple google search and a video on Twitter will confirm that)? Did you know that Hamas is literally beheadig Israelite babies?? BABIES!!! The most innocent creatures in society?! I guess I’m failing to understand how you see Palestine and Hamas as the ‘humane’ side🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
Did you know that these ‘innocent’ Palestinians have knowingly elected Hamas leaders and that they are the ones that want Israel dead?
Did you know that Israel sacrificed the crucial and effective ‘element of surprise’ battle tactic to warn Palestinian civilians in hopes to save as many lives as possible?
Did you know that having your head cut off by a machete is not at all merciful and that it takes a long time? You want to say “Oh but the Israelites are blowing children to smithereens!!” Guess what? War is ugly. But being blown up is more merciful than being decapitated. Why, you ask? It’s quick. It’s over before you know what’s happening. And if these children are young enough to not know they’re sinners then it’s God being merciful because they’ll be in heaven instead of having to grow up into a brainwashed monster by Islamic terrorists.
Did you know that supporting Palestine and Hamas is you supporting terrorism, rape, and torture?
Also. This would not be happening if Sarah kept her eyes on God and didn’t have her maid sleep with her husband. If she had trusted God, Ishmael would not have existed. Hence, Arabs wouldn’t exist. But I’m not judging Sarah because it is HARD to keep trusting God and keep your eyes on Him.
This also wouldn’t be happening if Israel has obeyed God when He told them to kill ALL the inhabitants of the land (read all of Joshua and Judges please). But again, I’m not judging them because it would be hard to kill women and children. This is why we should always obey God’s orders because it’s not just us who will suffer consequences but also will our descendants thousands of years after us.
Lastly: ‘Chosen’ does not mean ‘favored’, or ‘preferred’. It means ‘chosen to fulfill a plan or purpose’. Jesus is not done with His chosen people and He won’t be done with them until He destroys evil and establishes His new heaven and new earth in, where? Oh yes, baby, JERUSALEM! The PROMISED LAND PROMISED TO ABRAHAM AND HIS DESCENDANTS (meaning both his spiritual descendants - born-again Christians such as me - and his physical descendants, the 144,000 Jews/Israelites that call on His Name and recognize Him as their True Messiah after the Rapture)
Israel has always been God’s chosen people. They’ve always been a small but mighty nation. And as far back as they’ve been a nation, God has always avenged them, even when they turn from Him. Philistines: they stole the Ark; God unleashed he’ll on them with boils and tumors. Babylon: He used Nebuchadnezzar to chastise His children but then He allowed Persia to rise up and used them to punish Babylon for hurting His children. He used Rome as a way to chastise His people and bring about His plan for redemption. Rome is no more. Some day soon, Palestine will be no more. Whether it’s before or after the Rapture, they’ll be no more.
God said they’ll never have peace until His Son comes back. Israel will never be stomped out because God won’t allow it (again, ALL over Scripture). Once Israel cries out to the Messiah it’s game over for everyone. Because that’s when He’s coming back. And when Jesus comes back, it won’t be as a meek lamb for sacrifice. He will return as a roaring lion. A Warrior. And He will avenge His martyrs and destroy evil, it’s forces, and it’s followers - aka, those who hate and reject Him.
Most importantly: you saying you hate Israel and being pro Palestine is you saying you hate God and His plan, and His chosen people. And that is a very dangerous place to be in. I pray God will open your eyes to the truth❤️🙏🏻
I STAND WITH ISRAEL.
I wish King David was alive today. He and his deep unwavering faith in the living God, along with his mighty men, would squash these Palestinians and bring Hamas to their knees. “Never back. Whom shall we fear? Never back. In Him alone! Never back! That’s how giants fall! The battle belongs to the LOOOORRRRRD!”

The Worlds ‘Neath the Windy World Tree
A poem by me, speculating on the cosmos from an Anglo-Saxon pagan point of view. Much of this is taken from Norse cosmology, but is given a uniquely English flavour. It is written in alliterative verse, as is much of Old English poetry.
‘Twas on one windy night, that I dreamt a dream of Wōden, the High One, in his High Seat. I went to him ‘fore I wandered the Worlds, to pray for knowledge of their number and names.
I begged that he tell me of those bright and those dark; the dread-homes of dead things, the hallowed halls of high Gods, so of the Worlds ‘neath the windy World Tree might I know.
And so High from the highest of heights spoke thus, as he sat in his seat at the summit of All: “Wisdom I shall grant you; but what shall you give? For the price is a gift for a gift from the Gods.”
So to High I did say, “I shall swear to you thus: that a sacrifice be made unto you and yourself. I promise you this with prayer and praise, from one wanderer to the wisest of all.”
Then High said to me, “I hear your prayer, and the words that you weave for your oath. So my knowledge I’ll grant you, that know you might of the Worlds ‘neath the windy World Tree.
“The first I shall speak of is the first among worlds, the supreme and shining seat of Gods. Esageard we call it, cradled by Heaven, where rule does High from his hall.
“Within Esageard are three heavenly halls, a refuge for the righteous from rot, and the Fields of Frīge, Neorxnawang, and Wælheall where wælcyrian roost.
“Within our borders beneath one of three mighty roots, reside the three weavers of Wyrd. There they tend to the well from which fate is drawn and draw up the doom of Men.
“Yonder, yet not far from Esageard are the hallowed halls of the elves. There dwell they in brightest Ælfhām ruled by fair Ingui-Frea.
“By Ælfhām, you’ll know, is the abode of Man, called Middangeard, or by you Middle-earth. By an ocean it’s embraced, older than time, wherein waits the World Serpent for night.
“To the east if you go you shall find Ettin-home, Ēotenhām, land of the ettins and ents. Where in Iron-wood wolves and worse monsters are spawned, and ‘neath a root is Memory’s well.
“Yet go north from your world, Middangeard, and you’ll arrive in murky Murkhām. Where halls of gold and of grand craftsmanship serve as dwellings for the deep-delving dwarfs.
“Further still from Murkhām is misty Hell, where the Queen of the Dead does dwell. Find your way to the hall of the Goddess Hell lest you wind up in Wyrmsele, ravaged by worms.
“Next go north to the northernmost realm, Nifolhām, a bitter land of frost and fog, where the third of the World Tree’s roots does rest above a bubbling, ancient spring.
“From this spring flow the rivers, their numbers unnumbered, that with waters old wend a way between worlds, crossed only by bridges, and we brave wanderers.
“Thus I speak of the seven worlds beneath the World Tree, and to you make this knowledge known. Go with it, wanderer, with wisdom and sense.”
So said High, the Seer of All, as he shared his secrets with me. And so of the names do I now know of the Worlds ‘neath the windy World Tree.
