Steve could feel the tired energy in the room, barely anyone was paying attention and he didn’t blame them, he was exhausted too. But they had to do the debrief of the last mission. Looking out at the rest of the team he could see Nat was barely awake, her feet resting across Clint’s legs. Tony was just fiddling with his iron man gauntlet, Thor was mindlessly throwing Mjolnir up and down. Even Bruce was struggling to focus, his notes now chemical symbols.

Steve looked back at the screen which showed the map of the base they just raided, letting out a long tired sigh. He was trying to get through this as quickly as possible because he too just wanted to get back home to you. It felt nearly impossible to leave the apartment this morning.

He was about to continue on when he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. Since no one else was paying attention he pulled it out to see who it was. His lips twitch upwards when he says it was you. His smile grew when he saw exactly what the text was.

Y/N: When you get home, there’s a spider trapped in a glass in the bathroom, I kinda half squished it trying to get it into the glass so it might already be dead but I don’t wanna take that chance….

He couldn’t help but let out a small snort of laughter. You were terrified of spiders so the fact that you even managed to trap it was impressive and he understood your hesitance at removing it if you weren’t sure if it was dead or not.

“Right let’s call it a day” Steve announced suddenly making Nat startle awake.

“Are we done?” Bruce asks pointing to the screen.

“No, but none of us are awake enough for this and I have something I need to go deal with” Steve explains turning off the screen and moving to grab his jacket.

“Y/N sent him a sexy text” Tony smirks.

Steve didn’t bother to give Tony a response, he just shrugged on his jacket “See you tomorrow” he called out as he walked out.

Soon enough Steve was on his bike, weaving through the traffic to get back to the Brooklyn apartment he shared with you.

When he walked in he found you freshly showered painting your toenails on the couch. You jumped slightly when you heard the door shut, the surprised look on your face soon turning into a smile when you saw it was him.

“Hey, I didn’t expect you back so soon” You smile as he walks over.

“Well, when you text with an emergency I have to come running” Steve smirks leaning over to kiss you.

You roll your eyes at him “It wasn’t an emergency”

“When it comes to you it is” he grins pecking your lips once more “Is it still in the bathroom?”

Your face falls quickly tucking your limbs in tight “fuck I hope it is” you shudder.

Steve chuckles “I’ll go deal with it now” he smiles kissing the top of your head before making his way to the bathroom.

He spotted the spider immediately, even without the glass on top of it, Steve would have been able to spot it a mile off because it was so large. He was impressed knowing how much you hated spiders to get this close enough to capture it. Taking a closer look Steve could confirm that you had managed to squish it enough to kill it so he grabbed some toilet roll to pick it up and throw it down the toilet.

“Is it dead?” you ask when Steve walks back into the living room.

“Yep and I gave it a sailor's burial” he says as he sits down next to you on the couch.

You snort out a laugh “Thank you Steve, I really didn’t mean for you to come rushing” you smile snuggling into his side.

“It’s alright nobody was paying attention anyway, but I have to say I’m very proud of you, that was a very big spider and you were very brave to deal with it like you did” Steve smiles wrapping his arm around you, pressing a kiss to the top of your head “you’ll be a spider charmer in no time”

You let out a loud snort at that “fuck that”

i just had a thats so raven-esque vision of one time after the war when legolas and gimli are on Their Travels and they encounter none other than legolas’ old one-sided situationship tauriel. and he’s working his way through a catch-up session that’s family reunion level of awkward. he’s like “heyyyyy it’s been like a month (60 years) since i’ve seen you. how have you been since ummm. well. since that guy died. and my dad banished you.” and tauriel is like “well actually i’ve been great! just sort of living off the land. i visit rivendell sometimes that’s fun. i suppose besides The Grief i’m doing fine but i do miss the spiders sometimes. oh and no hard feelings about your dad banishing me by the way! i mean it was pretty fucked up but i don’t blame you for it.” and legolas is like “good, good………. yeah. the spiders.”

and then there’s a very long silence and tauriel is like “so………. care to introduce me to your friend?” and legolas (he’s absolutely 100% fucked and he knows it) is like “Um. Well. This is………. Gimli. Say Hi Gimli.” and gimli is like “hi i’m gimli. son of gloin and husband to legolas. pleasure to meet you my lady!” and legolas has to keep himself from exploding cartoonishly at the sheer >:3 face tauriel gives him before she’s like “wow husband? how novel for a dwarf and an elf to fall in love!” and it’s legolas’ worst day on middle earth and tauriel’s greatest. gimli and tauriel exchange phone numbers

I've talked about similarities between these three before but I think it's funny that Leo, Yuichi & MK all had to deal with at least one spider themed villain.

it was one of the many nights you spent waiting for hobie to come back home. with the two of you being spider people, you had a very few moments together.

but it didn't stop you from being in love.

coming home later than your boyfriend, or at least you thought you did, you took endless precautions to not make any noise. (which tbh doesn't make any sense tbh let's js say you're a quiet person)

just in case, you know, he did come home earlier than you...

the first thing that hit you as soon as you entered your appartment was that the window - which you often left open when you sleep so that your boyfriend could sneak in without waking you up - was closed.

you didn't pay it no mind as you thought it was the wind.

you headed to the bathroom to get into your pyjamas, where actually were one of hobie's old t'-shirts- which smell reminds you of home.

you then go to the kitchen to get a midnight snack, your all time favorite.

as you turned around, you notice the presence of your boyfriend.

"hobie? is something wrong?" you ask as you run to hug him.

he gave in the hug, shoving his head into your shoulder.

"so... tired... " he mutters, "glad i'm home..."

it was no surprise: the pressure of being a spider-person was extremely high. even though hobie tried his best to hide it, but even he needed to let it out sometimes.

(time for hcs bc idk how to truly describe the scene + it'll be easier)

i feel like he takes all the room there is on the bed like he'd be in some starfish position

somehow you're always touching him whether he's the big spoon or with your head on his chest or his arm around your shoulders

if you're scared of storms he would hug you close and confort you

"it's ok honey, it can't hurt you as long as i'm with you"

he plays with your hair when he can't fall asleep and wonders how non black people's hair work

if you're black/ a person of color he'd go like "ooo their hair is so cool :0

he secretely likes being the little spoon but he never asks for it

"ya can't sleep huh? want me to sing a sothing melody for ya?" (don't judge i have no idea how british people talk)

he always asks you if he can move if you're laying on him - if you're asleep he just doesn't

I KNOW HE WOULD CONFORT YOU IF YOU HAD A NIGHTMARE

"y'had a bad dream ? c'mhere i'll comfort you"

he braids your hair when he can't fall asleep

idk i feel like he only feels at peace in smalls moments like this when he's with you

also when the two of you can't sleep he plays you songs on his accoustic guitar (idk i feel like he's been given one when he was a kid and that's how he started learning)

maybe holding hands under the blankets? also you conforting him after a very tiring day he'd have his head on your lap and he'd fall asleep like that

he probably pushed you out of the bed more than once

"what the fuck are you doing on the floor??" but then he'd know it's his fault and js laugh about it

that's all i got for now i think i'm v tired atm i'll probably edit this later or do a part tO but like xdd hope you enjoyed ;3

Adam/Ava, always being alert for threats, would likely just freeze up and instantly look down. But seeing it was just a spider would then relax.

Well, you know, relax as much as A is capable of relaxing, lol!

Nate/Nat isn't great at sudden, unexpected situations, so likely would kick out in a rather dramatic fashion and possibly hit their foot on a table or something...then worry that they killed the spider and go looking for it to make sure it was ok :D

Not quite the elegant vampire we're used to, but even they have their moments!

Farah/Felix would likely just look down and be like, 'Hey man' and then get back to what they were doing.

Mason/Morgan would probably click their tongue and shake it off with an angered huff. They're not phased by much but annoyed by a lot, hehe! :D

His one weakness

It had been a long day and all you wanted to do was relax, maybe have a nice bath, definitely with a glass of wine. It had been a hellish day at work and you had to get groceries on your way home since you knew Lloyd would not have done it.

You didn’t bother announcing your arrival, heading straight into the kitchen to start unpacking the shopping. You were just putting away the very specific expensive bottle of juice Lloyd requests, glass bottle and everything when you heard the sound of gunshots ringing through the apartment. You startled, dropping the bottle of juice which promptly smashed on the kitchen tiles.

“Oh for fuck sake Lloyd” you screeched stamping your foot in frustration.

You stormed through the apartment in the direction the gunshots came from. You had told Lloyd repeatedly not to shoot his gun in the apartment. You didn’t care if he was bored or wanted to do target practice. If someone was breaking in then it was fair game, but that would never happen so you were pissed.

You found Lloyd in the ensuite gun aimed at the floor still, eyes wide with a mad look in them. His shoulders heaved as he breathed deeply. You looked down to find bullet holes in the floor of your very nice tiled flooring.

“What the hell Lloyd!” You yelled alerting him to your presence.

“Pumpkin when did you get home?” He asks frowning as he looked back up at you.

“Just a few minutes ago now why the hell have you shot holes into our nice new bathroom flooring!” You exclaim gesturing down to the damaged floor.

“There was a spider,” Lloyd says shrugging his shoulders.

“A spider!” You shouted in disbelief “a fucking spider! You shot your gun at a spider!”

“Yeah, so what?” He huffed pushing past you to leave the bathroom.

You huffed in annoyance grabbing your high heels from your feet throwing one at his back as he walked away.

“Don’t walk away! Why the hell did you do that!“ you shout.

Lloyd whips around “because they’re fucking disgusting and I don’t want that in my apartment!” He shouted pointing back to the bathroom.

“Then use a glass and piece of paper or kill it by stepping on it like a normal human being,” you say throwing your other shoe at him, which he easily dodged.

“Fuck that! I’m not getting within five fucking feet of those things” he shouted.

You blinked a couple of times before realising why he was reacting the way he was.

“You’re scared of spiders” you state in disbelief.

“Ha yeah right!” He scoffs but even you could tell it was a bare-faced lie.

“Yes, you are! Oh my god!” You laugh shaking your head.

Lloyd growls stepping forward until his chest met yours “you utter a single word of this to anyone I will kill you pumpkin” he warns.

You let out a huff of a laugh “don’t worry Lloyd” you say patting his pec “your secret is safe with me”

Can we just talk about the Mentor Figure Who Becomes Parental Figure trope? Because it’s just super heart warming. Like a character decided to train or teach this other character and ending up becoming their lifeline? Perfection. Just perfection.

A little bit more of the Avatar AU. I've tarted a series following this short comic of Dilla and Caleb meeting baby Miles/Spider:

It did not take long for Dilla and Caleb to adopt Miles, they had fallen in love with the tiny baby immediately ❤️ They decided to keep the name Miles, to honor the choice of his late birth mother Paz Socorro.

Since the baby was too small for a breathing mask, Caleb and Dilla would at first take turns staying with him at the human facilities. Later Elyon, the head of the facility, arranges for a shack to be placed in the Omatikaya village so Dilla and Caleb can finally take their son home, and care for him there. As Miles grows up, the shack also serves as a resting space where he can take off his breathing mask, eat and sleep more comfortably e.t.c.

When Dilla gives birth to Kai the baby brothers create a bond right away, always snuggling together and crying when separated. Unfortunately at the start they must be separated often since Kai, like all Na'vi and avatars, cannot breathe in human spaces for an unlimited time, and he himself is too little for a mask. It breaks their parents hearts to keep them apart during this first times, but they still make sure they spend as much time as they can together.
