The Cars of The Raven Cycle
Researching for a new fic series I’m going to write. I was very much picturing a different car for Ronan, but a comment on Maggie’s Insta clarified. Also the Hondayota is anyone’s guess, really.
The Pig: Gansey’s 1973 Camaro
Tumblr media
The BMW: Ronan’s "Shark-nosed mid 80′s M6″
Tumblr media
The EVO: Kavinsky’s Mitsubishi Evo (It’s white, but it’s got graphics. Also this image is from Maggie’s Insta as well)
Tumblr media
The Mustang: Noah’s “New in 2011″ Mustang GT
Tumblr media
The Hondayota: Adam’s shitbox

Any good rdr2 fic rec?
ooh yes
my current fav one is The Unreliability of Men's Promises by dazednstoned. abigail centric fic. I'm absolutely in love with it. the writing is phenomenal and they just GET abigail and what her likely dynamic with the gang was. ugh chefs kiss
one that has been my biggest source of inspiration is mine is clouds by ssstrychnine. charthur fic. I cannot tell you how much this inspires me. not even the story, just the writing style. I was in a massive creative funk and couldn't figure out this last chapter of bloom, and I read 1.5 chapters and INSTANTLY understood how to write again. like I had to read this in quarter chapter increments so I didn't steal too many ideas, it was that amazing
this night has opened my eyes by my mutual @pinkysberg REALLY love this. john centric and pinky just GETS him. so if you read this and the first fic i mentioned side by side you have a phd level understanding of the worlds most dysfunctional couple. for a time we were writing this at the same time and were at the same place in rdr2s plot so i felt like we were two random cars driving along together on a highway lol
He Was A Friend Of Mine by biiitchofCambridge. charthur fic. SO GOOD. this was another source of inspo, mostly the dynamic between arthur and charles is what was so good. I've read a lot of fics that tend to soften both of these guys, but this fic really has that 1890s masculinity thing going on, and I appreciate that
no law less than ourselves by CatRoofDance. another source of inspo. I fully stole an entire idea and forgot that it wasn't my own and based arthurs entire character around that. oops! woah I just wrote out a whole thing abt how this was popular and well-loved for good reason, and its not number 1? huh? it should be. the top fics of the charthur tag are cliche garbage. this deserves far more love than it has
Luck and Chance by swampslip. charthur fic. I read this a looong time ago and I barely remember it but it has some of the best charles characterization ive seen. his dialogue is so perfect I can only aspire to it
Let Me Down Gently by reddeaddesolation. smutty mary/arthur fic. again its been a whiiile since I've read this but i remember really enjoying it, particularly the characterization the the dynamic between them
Don't Come Knocking by charlock221. sadie/molly fic. no sorry, THE sadie/molly fic, THE ONLY sadie/molly fic. this is canon as far as I'm concerned. not kidding. it's so well written, it's incredible. everything about it makes sense. I adore it a normal amount. even if this isnt your cup of tea, I still think you should read it
I think thats it. puts all of these on a mantel and stares at them lovingly every day

November/December 2023 Angel Fish Awards
Tumblr media
(Angel Fish design by @slytherkins!!)
Every month all of you fantastic writers work your asses off to post some truly incredible stories. Our Angel Fish Awards are the way for all of us, as a community of writers and readers, to lift each other up and give praise to those who have captured our attention and deserve a few kind words. (Click here to learn more about how to nominate a fic for an award!)
Nominated by @deanwinchesterswitch
Five-Finger Discount by @talltalesandbedtimestories
This story is so smartly written - so many fantastic descriptions and lines of dialogue and it flows so beautifully. I didn’t want it to end. If you don't already have an obsession with Dean's hands, you will by the end of this fic.
~*~*~
Nominated by @annahmiraculousmillenium
A New Form by Kenophobia (AO3)
I'm nominating this story because it introduced me to a new tag I really like now: "Shapeshifter Dean" Sam is bossy (and Dean actually obeys!) Bobby is in there! John dies! And other cool things I don't want to spoil. Also, it's gen.
~*~*~
Nominated by @glygriffe
Said the Salmon to the Sea by @bendingsignpost
A mesmerizing (or mermaid-rising?) Dean-centric story about change, about the fact that it comes whether we want it to or not, and how the heck we deal with it. “If this is as far as we can go, it’s as far as we can go,” Dean says with a heavy shrug. Slowly, Sam says, “It’s as far as I can go.” “Yeah, that’s what I just said.”
The Angel of Emetgis V by Kayliemanlinza (AO3)
I read this as part of the Dean/Cas Reversebang 2022 (with beautiful art by @missaceriee) and the concept of true-form Castiel as an alien meeting "grease-monkey" Dean in deep space is compelling as much as how love is expressed between species. (Here is the original DCRB post that made me discover the story)
~*~*~
Nominated by @heavenssexiestangel
Unlikely by @apocalypseornaw
This story was written for me for the Secret Santa hosted on the Pond. It's a lovely fic with Ketch/GN!Reader, something there kind of is a lack of (both with GN and Male reader inserts). And like, also with Ketch lol it was a really nice pick-me-up as I'm not having the best of times right now, and it made me read an author I didn't know before, so it's a win-win Situation!
Follow That Car! by Mrs_SimonTam_PHD (AO3)
A really nice, short Ketch/Dean story with a side of murder. "I wish to fuck you, Dean" is forever embedded in my brain.
~*~*~
Nominated by @mrswhozeewhatsis
Spotless by @stusbunker
This is a Dean x reader AU with SO MUCH DELICIOUS PINING!!!! And now Bela's involved! And the reader gets to watch Dean and Bela make heart eyes at each other!! SO MUCH YUMMY ANGST!!!
~*~*~
Nominated by @salt-n-burn-em-all
Care and Feeding by foolishgames (AO3)
Sam is somehow turned into a cat. The best stories are the first and last ones if you are not an S/D reader, then can be read as mostly Gen.
Dissecting the Bird by nigeltde (AO3)
♥♥♥ Just right.
The Witch and the Wolfen by meus_venator (AO3)
I love everything about this story- meus has an amazing talent and this is one I reread often- plus, it just got a second story!
Sounds Like Truth Feels Like Courage by Sprinkle888 (AO3)
Well-written SPN story. Gen, no pairing, but it doesn’t need one. Sam binds them together with some MoL magic rings and finding out how they work is a riot. Some angst, temp character death, but ends happily. 10/10 recommend. Also posted on my Tumblr.
~*~*~
Nominated by @spn-fanfic-reblog-writes
Slither by Tiamatv (AO3)
I absolutely love this story! The show of cultural differences between Dean and Castiel that even the reader will miss the cues. Lol! The conversation about sex was hilarious especially since Dean doesn’t ask. 😂 Wait until you read the word “clasp”. Poor Dean. Look up the word: hemipene. This stems all the hilarity in the fic. Just wait. Just wait. It’s hilarious!! SPOILER: Castiel is a naga refugee that is half human and half beautiful snake, and Sam basically “adopted” him as a charity project that turns into Dean’s charity project that ends up making him very happy very quickly.
Rubber Duckie Boots by Hexentaenzerin (AO3)
This such an adorable meet-cute. I love it! I also love that Dean wears rubber duckie boots while videoing carpet cleaning videos for his business, which Castiel absolutely loves to watch. Just can’t get enough of seeing Dean in those boots. Castiel even buys a rug to try to get Dean to notice him. **squee** It’s great! The ending is so Dean and Castiel. ❤️❤️❤️
Weighted by Tiamatv and amireal (AO3)
I absolutely love this fic because I actually sleep with a weighted blanket and when my kids are sick, they love their own. I even have one in the car. It’s light but enough to feel it. This is just so fluffy and romantic all thanks to our favorite redhead introducing weighted blankets which helps so much. It’s been shown to even help babies but blankets aren’t great for them. Anyway, they’re so cute and that scene where Dean opens his eyes all slow and gentle with “hey”, just broke me. My husband and I do that periodically and it just means more snuggles and sleep. lol. Poor Castiel thinking he couldn’t have Dean which I understand since Dean has said so much he is straight or implied it rather often. Ugh. This was done so well. I admit I wish there was more especially with Dean exploring this new aspect of himself and with Castiel. Curious to see what their bumps in the road are and how they handle it.
Close Encounter of the Fourth Kind by Fathersalmon (AO3)
First, this is smut. Second. It is fucking hilarious! I rarely find crack in smut. You have to read this hilarity. Dean’s sassy mouth is just amazing in this while Castiel just ignores him. 🤣 If you want to laugh, read this!
Firelight Glow by bleuzombie (AO3)
I just love how it progresses and the ending is great though. It’s so sweet and fluffy. Their connection is so tangible the reader can feel it like the characters do. It also has Trans Dean Winchester, which I always love to read, especially by @bleuzombie who knows how to write them so authentically and truthfully.
~*~*~
Nominated by @spencereliotwinchester
Stray Hearts by blujay44 (AO3)
It's definitely a weird one, but I really like how fluffy it is. Really, though, it's weird... but it's a feel-good one, especially when Jensen comforts Jared.
Pastiche (orphaned work on AO3)
This is literally one of my favorite SPN fics ever. I reread it a lot. Features Autistic!Jensen and loveable goldenretriever Jared who just wants to get to know his neighbor.
Flash by ellia (AO3)
Short, sweet, almost possessive... Also features my two favorite boys: Jensen and Christian.
For the Taking by veronamay (AO3)
Steamy, sexy, bdsm, Jared and Jensen. What more could you ask for??
~*~*~
Nominated by @mariekoukie6661
House of the Rising Son by @kittenofdoomage
I really love the idea of Sam and Dean being the bad guys! The story as a whole is so goood!
Blood and Honey by @kittenofdoomage
Dark!Winchesters are my favorite kind of tropes! This is such a great story, very well written!
Baklavas For Your Birthday by @cloverhighfive
This is very cute!!!
Muddy Soul by @impala-dreamer
This is so good! Its very dark at times and you absolutely need to mind the tags! But this is such a great series!
Strangers by @smellingofpoetry
Very cute story!! I liked it!!!
I am my beloved’s and my beloved’s mine by @heavenssexiestangel
Very cute! Very fluffy!!!! I liked it!!!!
Tumblr media
THANK YOU ALL, KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK, AND AS ALWAYS, HAPPY WRITING!
- From your Admins and Manta Rays, @manawhaat, @mrswhozeewhatsis, @mariekoukie6661, @thoughtslikeaminefield, @spencereliotwinchester, and @heavenssexiestangel!

Ohhhh what’s up with the Keeley amnesia fic? Very intrigued! 👀
and tagging @huntforachievements who asked about this fic as well.
so this is just an incredibly vague plot so far stemming from me wanting have more Keeley-centric tropey over-the-top fanfics lol. Basically the idea is Keeley gets amnesia shortly after her and Roy broke up between seasons 2 & 3 (idk how. probably a car accident or something. however these things usually happen in fanfiction lol). Roy is still her emergency contact. When she wakes up all "who tf are you?" Roy says "your boyfriend" immediately without thinking, even though he's not anymore is he (his own damn fault!) :( But it's just instinctual! Then before he can correct himself Keeley says, "No, Jamie's my boyfriend. Where is he?" This Keeley thinks she's still dating Jamie but is being told by everyone trying to help her that she's currently dating Roy (none of their friends knew about the breakup yet, it had literally just happened). Neither one of those things are actually true. Cue chaos.
Basically, Roy has to go to Jamie and explain the situation because Keeley is demanding to see him. this is complicated because Jamie and roy haven't started their canon friendship arc yet, and jamie isn't really talking to Keeley. But they come together to help their girl <3 There's also a side plot where we dive a bit into Keeley's work-related anxieties/imposter syndrome, as she still thinks she's modeling and like, REALLY can't believe she suddenly runs a PR firm and is incredibly stressed out and overwhelmed. The boys have to hype her up etc.
Then the ending is bittersweet maybe because just when things are going very well in terms of establishing a new normal and Keeley accepting she may never get her memories back, and things are heading in a very ot3 direction...Keeley's memories DO come back and she remembers that Roy just dumped her! drama drama. (but they get their HEA eventually because it's me. duh.)

read any good fic this week? (I’d love a rec)
I am so late in answering this, but I hope that I can give some recs that make up for it!
I read 'Of Ribbons and Barbarians' by SainTalia for the first time recently and holy cow it was SO GOOD. Sansa is a Tully who marries the king in the North, Jon Snow, and it is DELIGHTFUL. Tons of court intrigue, the medieval accuracy that GRRM wishes he had, and a very smitten and protective Jon. There are so many names and alliances to keep straight and I am consistently amazed at how well the author handles it.
Also by SainTalia, 'Come Down Like an Avalanche' Which is an utterly delightful modern AU where a forest ranger Jon rescues Sansa and Lady from an icy car wreck. Comfort, cuddling, and emotions ensue during a very bad winter storm. Also, Ghost is horny as hell and completely besotted with Lady and it's absolutely hilarious.
'A Fairytale Ending' by @cellsshapedlikestars contains so many delightful things it would be hard to list them all. Sansa responds to a dating profile that requests a fake date for a wedding- Jon's ex is marrying his brother and the family drama only gets juicier and more dysfunctional from there. At the same time, pining ensues between Jon and Sansa.
Also by @cellsshapedlikestars, 'You on the Run', which is another modern AU that begins with Sansa being kidnapped by Jon and a motley crew of Night's Watch members. Not everything is as it seems, however, and the mystery that unravels is so so good. Honestly, anything by @cellsshapedlikestars is going to knock your socks off.
'You Mean You Forgot Cranberries Too?' by magneticwave is a favorite. A modern AU where Jon and Sansa keep encountering each other by chance and the Stark shenanigans are fully dialed up to 11. Also, there's genetics. This is one of the funniest, wittiest, most delightful fics i've ever read, and I hope it makes you cackle out loud the way it does for me.
And saving the best for last: 'The Weirwood Queen' by RedWolf. Just FYI, this isn't a Jonsa fic. It is genuinely one of the best fics I've ever read, and I'm fully obsessed with it. It's Sansa-centric, and follows the aftermath of Lady's death, when Sansa makes a plea to the old gods. They hear her, and everything changes. It is just so so so incredibly good- I can only hope to be a fraction of the writer that RedWolf is, and I devour every update.
Thank you for the ask- enjoy! :)

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let's spread the self-love 💗
Let's go let's go let's go!!!!
Hi Aster! Thank you for the ask!! Okay let’s do this thing
These are in no particular order because I can’t do that to myself
1) nothing but your crown on because it was the first smut I ever wrote and it took forever. I wrote most of it in the car on breaks at work, which sure was a choice lol. It’s Julie and the phantoms Julie x Luke centric fic but it’s part of a series that’s Julie x Luke x Reggie, creatively titled “the adventures of a chaotic villain throuple” which is… exactly what is says on the tin, featuring villain Julie, bodyguard Luke & evil scientist reggie.
2) your eyes look like coming home because it was supposed to be short and sweet and blew up into 20k+ and also kickstarted my love for very rare pair poly ships. This one is also Julie and the phantoms fic with Nick x Carrie x Flynn growing up and falling in love. It’s a 5+1 sleepover fic that I love to bits
3) always by your side because I got a prompt and my mind was like how can I make this incredibly ducking angsty and then I did it and made everyone cry and made myself cry. I’m very proud of the foreshadowing and storytelling on this one. Do bring tissues tho 🫶🏻it’s also jatp with Julie x Luke
4) someday (I’ll see you again) because it was a troped challenge and I came up with the ending plot part ways through and made myself cry but I think I wrote it really well and I’m super proud of it. (I did have to cut it down to hit the word count maximum since it was for a challenge so the ending is a bit more fast paced than I would normally do but I still love it) this is also a jatp fic which is fair because I wrote like 60. This one however is a Alex x Willie neighbors au w/ childhood friends to lovers. It’s already tagged but trigger warning for non-physical child abuse, homophobia & conversion camp. No actual camp is featured “on screen” and I tried to treat it as respectfully as I could but it is a plot point so avoid if needed.
5) don’t talk to me or my scary goth gf ever again because it was supposed to be a short crack-adjacent Oneshot that ended up sparking a series. It’s Wenclair fic with the appropriate amount of Xavier bashing (also haven’t reread it in a while but probs not super Tyler friendly??? The joys of being a multishipper 🙃) I’m still working on the sequels with Wednesdays and Weems povs. Anyways it was fun and i enjoyed writing it but was pleasantly surprised it was received as well as it was.

My One Piece Fic Recs
Looking for underrated fics that are mostly very wordy Gen fics about slow-burn emotional processing? WELL I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS FOR YOU MY HIGHLY SPECIFIC KINDRED
(A lot of these are pretty heavy, so take intense violence, swearing, and trauma as a blanket warning. Also featuring a lot of ASL and a truly inexplicable amount of Marco)
Long Fics
The Remedy - @nocturneequuis - 315K Strawhat centric - gen This fic is a modern AU alternating between flashback and present. The flashback is everything I want out of modern Strawhats. They aren’t attended school and having love triangles, they’re careening around the county in a broken car signing up for cage matches and getting involved in an increasingly fantastical world. It uses familiar characters, but uses them chaotically. Meanwhile, the modern section follows the Strawhats dealing with medical decisions while Luffy has been comatose on life support for five years. It’s an excellent, painful portrayal of medical grief, and probably familiar to anyone whose old enough or unlucky enough to be present for those horrible conversations. It’s incredibly quotable, and the contrast between zany adventures and tense grief paint’s Luffy’s charisma in his absence as much as his presence. It jumps between POVs, and all the Strawhats have a unique sense of voice. A long read, but it will leave you wishing there was more.
PICK YOUR POISON - @fic-pickyourpoison - 184K Lami & Law centric - gen You know, I used to say I wasn’t into ‘person dies in our world and gets transported into a story they know, but somebody convinced me to read this and I’m so sorry. My brain was small and my vision was limited. It turns out I just needed 1. Somebody who remembers canon well enough to give themselved Pre-Traumatic Stress Disorder, but not well enough to effectively fix things 2. The Isekai-ee to be a fascinating character with 0 people skills This story follows somebody who is reincarnated as Trafalgar Lami trying to avoid her fate as Tragically Dead Sister. It’s a brutal story, but one that doesn’t feel the need to explain everything. Lami’s perspective is limited and unreliable in a genuinely fascinating way, and her relationship with Law manages to be both heartbreakingly sweet and infuriatingly dysfunctional. It’s also just really nice to read a story focusing on a female OC who is unempathetic and messy in a way that isn’t Sexy and Badass(tm). Lami is allowed to be a trainwreck in a way I wish I got to read more of.
Being Human - MaiKusakabe - 52K Marco centric - gen Ever wanted to see Whitebeard just starting his family? Because I did and I didn’t even know it.  The story starts with Whitebeard rescuing Marco from slavery (warning, this fic gets pretty explicitly brutal on that front), and attempting to Become Dad. One of the things I enjoy about a world full of pirates is it leaves a lot of room for trauma not being ‘pretty’, and it’s nice to see a world where characters are free to be reactive and angry in recovery without being treated as ‘bad’. Also just... baby commanders guys. Baby Whitebeard family.
Katabasis - cephalopodium - 81K Marco centric - gen In the “I wasn’t kidding about a weird amount of Marco”, what if instead of seeing the start of Marco’s family, you want to go to after the end. This one starts just post the payback war as Marco heads to Sphinx Island. It combines the delight of watching a character be deeply underestimated with the comfort of a character slowly healing from the kind of pain that seems unfixable. I also appreciate an author being totally willing to fill an island with OCs and politics, and this fic has a great cast. Legendary pirate attempting to be Some Guy in an isolated small town is very fun.
Who We Were Meant To Be - @deedee-writes - 51K Luffy and Ace centric - gen Bad Marine!Luffy fics tend to have the premise “but have you considered... breaking the law is worse than supporting the slave trade???”, good Marine!Luffy fics explore the fact that Luffy is a pirate to the core, and revel in the tension of what he’d be like if he was forced to ignore that. This fic follows Luffy getting to reclaim his rightful crown when Ace is sent to Impel Down. The link is to the starting place, but I am really enjoying to currently updating prequel that follows Luffy being put in charge of Sabaody.
Saving Grace - Zorika - 135K Ace and Marco centric - Ace/Marco As the pairing might tell you, this one comes with some pretty heavy warnings. Though the couple doesn’t get together until everyone is 18+, this fic features a lot of coping with trauma via drug use, self-harm, and self destructive sexual decisions. The uncomfortable elements that come with an age gap pairing aren’t glossed over, they are front and center. It’s another dual timeline fic in a modern AU. In the present, Ace has been on Quest Blackbeard for six years after taking a super harsh exit, and returns to town as Marco is mourning the death of his stillborn daughter. It flashes between a young Ace joining the Whitebeard mafia as an angry, self-destructive 16 year old, and his return during the lowest point in Marco’s life. The thing that sells this fic for me is Marco’s relationship with his wife. It manages to show a failing marriage to an OC without ever villainizing her, or making her feel like a convenient plot device to be quietly cleared away now that the Real Pairing is here.
crown the king (with bloody flowers) - @whirlybirdwhat - 29K Luffy centric - gen If “Luffy has platonic hanahaki for the ocean” doesn’t make you want to read a fic, I don’t know what to tell you. This feels more like a series of vignettes, but is just so incredibly poetic and beautiful. I also love the idea of hanahaki not being ‘unrequited love’ but “deeply loving someone/something that deeply hates you”. It jumps between POVs, and just explores and beautiful, horrific, hopeful, tragic nature of Luffy’s boundless determination. I’m also gonna re-read it as soon as I finish this post.
Short Fics (to be fair, most of these are actually quite popular, shhh)
as reliable as truth - midnightluck - 5680 Words Ace centric - gen Ace gets hit with a truth curse. You will end up reading this one twice for full impact. A few laugh out loud lines, a few softly go ‘oof’ lines.
don’t bury me with gold - @yuki-mxivo - 18200 Words Sabo centric - gen Sabo is born a Celestial Dragon. Takes Sabo’s inherent divide between a pirate heart and an internal drive to give up his own freedom to dismantle class and turns up the volume to roaring. It’s wonderfully tense and poetic.
(two) small mercies - @fingersfallingupwards - 15992 Words Ace and Luffy centric - gen Ace and Luffy get de-aged and the Whitebeards have to deal with it. For those that love tragic backstory reveals without it straying into the angst, this is the perfect balance. These kids do not know how to interact with human beings, and this fic embraces them for the feral jungle brats they are.
Oh hey, how did this self promo get here
My One Piece fic is HERE. I might put in a particular rec for Children of Baltigo, my least read long One Piece fic. It focuses on Sabo and Koala growing up on Baltigo. Slight AU, lots of spycraft nerdery.

Fanfic Idea #1
The Avengers knew Tony before the events of Iron Man, or alternatively, the events of Iron Man don't take place until after Avengers.
For some reason, Fury is more focused on the Avengers team, recruits earlier, with Tony as consultant. Tony let's the team stay in Stark tower for publicity. Peggy is still alive, and so she tells Steve that Tony isn't as bad as he seems, as she watched him grow up, even though he is currently the way he was at the beginning of Iron Man. Bruce is slightly uncomfortable but likes to have a friend to work with, Clint just thinks he's kinda funny, Nat doesn't particularly like Tony, but is Nat, so is just professional around him, Thor likes him bc he reminds him of Loki. They were all drawn together bc Enchantress and Skurge attack (or someone) -> Thor comes bc asgardian, Avengers assemble, Tony helps against magic via cameras and comms (and he realizes what he does isn't fulfilling enough and secretly wants to help the Avengers to make a difference, not just for PR like pepper says, and he had been telling himself, kind of realizing he isn't satisfied with what he has been doing upon meeting these incredible, larger than life people (aka, friends inspiring friends to be better)), they bond Tony invites them to the tower, but he's only there occasionally when he has work stuff, mostly he's in Malibu, but Avengers still view him as a part of the team because he helps them out and provides them a place to live. Then Afghanistan happens (they've become friends, so there is upset and drama) and they're sent in by shield, help Rhodey find him faster. Yinsen saved? Still has the car battery, not quite done with reactor? After Yinsen gets him to see he needs to do something. Yinsen does die. Has to be to help Tony or something, delivers same line. Avengers support him, nat helps pepper (maybe?) to find the video from the 10 rings. And helps convince her that iron man isn't a bad thing for Tony maybe? But other stuff isn't too terribly different? Because it is in Malibu, not NY. But Avengers could be staying there to help. Probably not all of them, maybe nat and clint bc they're shield to help find out what happened? Or they could've found out beforehand (nat and clint noticed obie's creepy touchiness and general creepiness) and that's how they find Tony faster. This is basically just my enjoyment of arc reactor angst, avengers as family and tony-centric stuff...
So, um, I have literally hundreds of ideas, some with more idea than others, lol. And, I figure, at this point in time, I'm never going to write even half of them, but maybe the people of the internet will help me find some motivation or creativity, or, maybe even write them for me... Or point me to where the fic I am thinking of already exists!

The Never Ending Pit of Superhero AUs
AKA some of my fave Tommy centric superhero/power/vigilante AUs
Ok before I start the list, this will also be a list that I will continue to add on to because I have read a lot of these AUs and there are just so many out there (not that I’m complaining I love them)
Note: These are not ranked in any order
1. Just One Mistake (is all it will take) by @bluestrasa [ongoing] - This one has a little bit of everything, vigilante tommy, benchtrio, foster AU, smart Tommy (I love smart Tommy sm) and so much more. AND it has Eryn, Freddie, Beau, Crumb and a bunch of C!streamers I wish I saw more of. I love Crumb in this fic so much it’s unreal- Anyway, the perfect description I can think of for this fic is when Tubbo in the fic says that “he was trying to do 3 different puzzles not knowing there was a fourth” there's so many different links and connections and identities and its all slowly building in the best (and potentially catastrophic) way, I srsly love this fic
2. Tommy Unbeatable Method Of Avoiding Sudden Death by Eneli [completed] This fic is a perfect example of its popular because its good, its crack/fluff/angst balance is a perfectly balanced trifecta, and I won’t lie, when I first read it I did feel that for a 16 year old Tommy’s actions were a bit childish and that threw me off for a bit BUT, that was just one of many strings that were connected when the end was revealed.
3. Hush Now (You Were Lost But Now You’re Found) by CorpseArt [ongoing] - This was the first superhero AU I read where Tommy wasn’t a vigilante and that’s one of the reasons I started reading it, I stayed for the incredible writing, the plot, the characters and of course the wonderfully awful cliffhangers. Reading this fic is like watching 3 cars heading towards each other at full speed in the best way. The characterization of each of the characters is so wonderful i love it
4. No Cause For Concern by hedgehoggeryyy [ongoing] - The first superhero AU I read and ever since I started it I have been hanging on every chapter. I love that Allium duo are friends from the get go and we meet Tubbo later on, and we get to see their friendship bloom
5. you can put your dukes down, stringbean by inkamu [completed] - I love civilian Tommy in this one so much its unreal, I also love all the secret identities. they’re all pretty unique and creative including Tommy himself. If you enjoy fics where Tommy just fucks with hero SBI please read this one.
IF YOU HAVE FIC RECS I WILL GLADLY ACCEPT

Dark grey eyes followed after your car as it pulled out from its parking spot – the plan went so smoothly that the person allowed themselves to smirk. Bribing your clients was the easy bit but Jungkook had to congratulate himself for his quick thinking and the tracker he managed to place under your car. It may not have been the original plan that he and Jimin discussed, he knew once the older male found out he’d get hell for it, but his logic was intact. He knew Jimin would see it after his anger subsided. If they had you, they had Hoseok. And that was all they needed for now.
He was pleased, so pleased he got distracted – and that was one thing he couldn’t afford. He didn’t notice the car, headlights turned on, nor the man hiding in the dark waiting.
Tumblr media
Hoseok stared after you, his eyes fixed on the spot you were just in, long after you'd departed. Groaning to himself in frustration, he rubbed his face in an attempt to clear his head. The movement proved not only to be futile, but it also worsened the state of his headache. The speed with which the room spun was too much for him to take. Stomach doing somersaults, he quickly got up, his feet unstable and knees shaking and he rushed towards the bathroom connected to his office. His shoulder still hurt, and his uncoordinated movements caused him to smash into more than one wall on his way. By the time he made it into the pristine white bathroom his shoulder burnt. As tears gathered in his eyes, so did bile in his throat.
Bent down over the toilet, he let himself dry heave until his stomach calmed down. His skin was still clammy, and the sudden shivers that overtook him were not helping his aching muscles. Swearing under his breath he closed his eyes, enjoying the coldness of the bathroom tiles against his knees and forehead.
“Fuck, it’s never been this bad.” He muttered to himself, his half conscious brain making the decision to check where the pills have been acquired from. He was more than used to taking these pills; he’d been using the same provider since before he made it into law school. He didn’t remember having them in his wallet as he’d always considered that to be irresponsible. But their convenience proved to be almost fatal to him. He hated to admit it, but if not for you, he’d probably have ended up in the hospital – or even worse. Dead.
A sudden idea made him rush back to his office, stomach still rolling in discomfort. He threw himself back onto the chair and started to haphazardly open his drawers. Muttering to himself about the uselessness of half the things he came across in there, he finally hit the last drawer. It was unusually clean; with a few pencils lying around and some post-it notes littering the space. Pressing a tiny button at the bottom of it, he waited as the fake cover lifted. With a deep breath and a hard swallow he dug his hand in there, expecting the worst. When his fingers brushed across the familiar plastic he paused before he pulled it out and set it on the desk to inspect it.
He was right. Those pills in his wallet were not his usual stash and the packet in front of him labelled with numbers proved it. It was almost empty, a lone pill half crushed dusted the bag and Hoseok frowned, deep in thought. Who provided that last stash?
Tumblr media
Namjoon stared at the bag, his eyes half lidded and brows furrowed with seriousness. You could tell the gears in his head were turning by the way he bit his lip, intertwining his hands to support his chin. Waiting for him to make up his mind, you looked around in an attempt to amuse yourself, given that the situation was serious, you knew he would take his time.
His office was clean this time, and you assumed the cleaners got in after he finally left for the night. You knew him to be an avid office sleeper, so you’d always assumed that the state of his office was due to the lack of cleaners being able to enter it. Humming lightly to yourself, you sat up straighter, ankles crossed and fingers tapping lightly over your knees. You were anxious and you prayed that the man in front of you was distracted enough by the piece of information you presented him with, to not notice.
“Y/N.” Namjoon’s voice cut through the silence that settled over the two of you and you jolted lightly on the chair. He sounded serious, so you offered him the same courtesy as you stopped humming, your full attention now on him.
“So?” You prodded after a few moments of silence. “If you only said my name to stop me from humming, I’m hurt. I’ll have you know I was part of the school choir.” The joke died as soon as you realised he was still staring at you intently, his frown indicating he was not happy, nor was he in the mood to joke around.
“What is it Namjoon?” You pursed your lips, hands clasped tightly on your lap. You hoped the height of the desk would make it impossible for him to see the way you nervously picked at your trousers – you hadn’t told him anything about the origin of the pills and you didn’t have a cover up if he asked for details. After you’ve picked up the pills and the photograph you didn’t allow yourself time to overthink. You went straight to see Namjoon, knowing that you had a better chance at finding out about the pills if you had professional test results.
“Y/N, where did you find these?” You were expecting that, and you felt foolish and brash for not thinking of a response beforehand. Fumbling would be a dead giveaway, so you forced yourself to sit still as you came up with an answer.
“I just picked them up from an investigation scene. I wanted to have a proper analysis done on them as the quack detectives were about to dismiss it as paracetamol.” You shrugged trying not to cringe at how fake and weak of an argument that sounded to your own ears. To your relief Namjoon decided to not say anything, instead he carefully placed the packet onto his desk and stared at you.
“I will be honest with you Y/N, this does not look like paracetamol, but then again I am not a lab technician. I only have the experience of busting drug operations, and those numbers on the pills do not yell ‘legal’ to me. But, I will send them in and then let you know what the results were when they come out.” Namjoon tried his best to not sound suspicious. As soon as you admitted where you got the evidence from, his instinct was to call you out on your lie. He may have been your friend but he was an expert in the field and a team leader, and he didn’t get that position just because he was a pretty face in the office. That, and Jin would have beaten him from miles ahead.
You found it hard to disagree with Namjoon, mainly because you knew that those pills were not even close to being legal. So instead of allowing yourself to blunder even more in front of the man, you chose to stay silent.
“Is there anything else you would like to tell me?” Namjoon couldn’t help himself from prying. If his suspicions were right, you may have got yourself into a sticky situation.
Refusing to meet his eyes, the pristine top of his desk becoming increasingly interesting to you, your shoulders squared. You didn’t want to tell him about the information you found when you went to confront Hoseok. Neither did you want to rat out the man whose steely eyes and sharp tongue made sure to leave you speechless every time you talked. You felt like prying into Hoseok’s life was a task only for you at the moment. You couldn’t be sure if what you had on him was enough to involve another person, let alone a whole task force. Because you knew that as soon as Namjoon found out, his whole team would.
“I have a new case.” Trying to sound as normal as one would in a casual conversation, you threw it out there once again, underestimating your friend’s ability to catch onto cues. You weren’t lying per se. You were just omitting the fact that this was a personal case, and that it had nothing to do with any of your official work. “And these were found at the scene, that is all.” You bit your tongue from spouting more nonsense than you have. The way Namjoon’s eyes narrowed and his jaw clenched made you swallow the rest of your excuse. He was onto your lie, you just hoped he would trust you enough to not question you further.
Namjoon could see you were avoiding sharing more information with him, and if he didn’t know you he would’ve accused you of lying to an official. However, he wasn’t only indebted to you for saving his hide that one time, but he was also your friend. He trusted you, and if you needed him you would reach out. “Is there any other information on the club case than what you have given me?” He cleared his throat, breaking eye contact with you, a clear sign that the matter was closed and he would not pry further.
The question took you by surprise and your hand immediately reached for the pocket where you stashed the picture you took from Hoseok. “Have you managed to find something?” You asked with more force than you should have, ecstatic that he took the bait and changed the subject. You’d forgotten all about the documents you handed over to him, and you were more than hesitant to hand over what you believed to be a piece of evidence.
Namjoon breathed out a bitter chuckle, he had more information about it, yet he was unsure whether or not he should tell you. He had a hunch, and his training always told him to never go in with just a hunch. He needed to make sure and for that he needed to go see his tech genius. “Give me a few more days, and I will let you know.” Reading the disappointment on your face he was quick to add, “it’s only a suspicion for now, and I want to verify it before I say anything else.”
You nodded in understanding, that was the exact same reason you weren’t telling him about the packet of pills. Deciding that maybe the picture would help somehow and wanting the information more than you did to conceal and protect the truth you pulled the photograph out and handed it to him. “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours?” You smiled, raising your eyebrows suggestively, making Namjoon burst out in laughter.
“Y/N, you’re a dork.” He pretended to flick you and you pulled away in protest swatting at his hand with a yelp.
“Who even says dork anymore, you dork?” You said in retaliation, only to pause when Namjoon raised his eyebrow questioningly. Realising what you said you couldn’t help but burst out in laughter. “I fell right into that one didn’t I?”
“Yes you did.” Namjoon said, nodding his head in agreement. Leaning to look through the stash of files piled neatly on the corner of his desk he muttered to himself and you swore you heard something about “cleaners and their obsession with organising his work.”
“Joon, you’re a mess, how you even manage to work when your stuff is everywhere I don't even know.” You said fondly, shaking your head at him. The memory of his desk in disarray would be forever ingrained in your mind as the perfect description of Namjoon and how he worked. He may have been a clumsy disorganised mess, but in reality he was the most grounded, careful and down to earth person you knew. He had to be, he was a team leader and everyone depended on him, and ever since you met him, you’ve been just as dependent on him.
“It just works.” He grunted hands deep in his folders, messing up their order. When one of them headed straight to your end of the table you rushed to place a hand on it, stopping it in its place with a sigh.
“Joon, please.” You chuckled, handing him the file. Namjoon threw a look at you, amusement showing on his face before he caught sight of the file you were handing out to him. Eyebrow raised, he pointed at it.
“What do you know, you’re more attuned with my organised mess than I am with it. That is for you.” He leaned onto the desk, his elbows perched on the newly made mess of papers he created. “I can’t let you leave with it though.” He added noticing you were going to place it in your bag. “Sensitive stuff.” He explained.
“I got it, Namjoon. Don’t worry.” You understood. He shouldn’t have been showing you any of these in the first place, let alone allow you to leave with files. Putting them back on the desk you looked at him for approval before you opened it. The same names, Jung, stared at you and you gulped anxiety gripping at your throat. There was an inexplicable sense of dread that you felt in your gut as you turned the pages, your eyes taking in the information presented to you. There was nothing that you weren’t aware of within the first few pages, dates, and witness information and accounts. When you came across the last few pages your eyes widened and your breathing became laboured. Two names in bold letters stared at you, Faux Vivant, the name of the club, and Kim Taehyung.
Are you sure your memories can be trusted?
Remembering what Hoseok taunted you with, you angrily clenched your fists; he knew something. A clear picture of the club clipped at the bottom of the page drew your attention. Unclipping it carefully to not rip it, you brought it closer to you for inspection. You were greeted by sight of the club, the exact same club you saw earlier in your sleep deprived daze, the bold letters reading Faux Vivant and a man talking to a paramedic by the looks of his uniform. The man looked so familiar you couldn’t help but stare, his black hair pushed off his face, pointed features - something about him jogged your memory, but you couldn’t quite place a finger on it.
“Y/N, that is judge Jung, the uncle.” Namjoon pointed and you gasped. It was as if his words glued the pieces of the puzzle in your head.
“Namjoon,” you said overwhelmed, your eyes snapping back onto his. “I know.”
“Wait, how did you know? Just earlier you asked me to find out more information about him.” Namjoon stared at you in confusion.
Pulling the picture out of your pocket you placed it in front of him. “Because this,” you pointed at the man resembling the current judge Jung, the nephew. “Is him. And this,” you pointed towards the man next to the judge, “is my father.”
Tumblr media
Dropping the headphones onto the table Jin smiled feeling euphoric. Another job well done, he felt proud of himself and for a second he chuckled as he patted his own back.
“Can you stop being so full of yourself?” Namjoon appeared from behind him, making the older man jump. For a moment he forgot that the team leader and his partner were present in the same room, but he couldn’t care enough to be self conscious about his behaviour. Shrugging, Jin grinned at the younger blonde.
“I just feel like I've hit the jackpot with this recording, it’s all ASMR— you should give it a listen.” Jin held out the headphones only for Namjoon to push them gently aside.
“I think i’m good, do you have anything new on the club incident from a few years back? I know we’re letting it die down as it was likely just negligence, but I hoped we at least had some evidence to back that verdict?” He inquired, his body already feeling weary. He had once again been up for too long, overindulged in coffee, and had too little sleep the previous night. And there was no sign of sleep for him in sight, at least for now.
“Yoongi?” Jin ignored Namjoon as soon as he discovered the second man silently observing the interaction from the corner of the room with them. Offering the headphones to him a small smile on his face, he pouted childishly when his hand got roughly rejected.
“I have no time for stupidity Seokjin.” Yoongi growled, making himself at home propped against Jin’s desk, uncaring of the expensive equipment he could ruin. “We need some info.” He grumbled, hands crossed over his chest, seemingly glowering at everyone in the room.
Jin pouted again, doing his best impression of a hurt puppy, but when he received no response from either male he shrugged and returned to his computer.
“Get off my desk and I will find you something.” Jin said patiently, the aggravated undertone seeping through the cracks of his carefully crafted mask. He felt the pressure of having both his seniors watching over his shoulders, and he had better and more important things to do. The weight of his phone in his pocket kept reminding him he had a few people he to contact before the day was over, and he couldn’t do it with any of the others in the room. Sighing, he resigned himself to another few hours of work before he would be able to get anything else done.
“Right, what do you need from me?” He pulled up on the screen the folder with most of the data he had on the arson case. “Club night, the shooting started around 2am, this is all the footage we managed to gather over the CCTV. It’s not the best as the quality is not only impaired by the lack of proper technology, but they’re also not infrared.” Seokjin cursed under his breath. “It almost feels like-” He didn’t get to finish his sentence before Namjoon butted in.
“As if it was planned?” He approached the screen, his eyes taking in the scenes playing in front of him. It was hard to discern anything from the grainy image, nothing clear at least. He could make out the number of people grinding against each other but he couldn’t make out any faces in the crowd or anything in the darker corners. When the guns went off he saw the sparks from the recoils, but nothing more than that. Frowning at the screen he looked towards Yoongi who was still perched up on the desk much to Jin’s dismay. Yoongi’s face didn’t betray any thoughts, he seemed almost disinterested in the scenes happening before him, as if this case was of no importance to him.
“Yoongi.” Namjoon called out for his partner’s attention hoping that he would not unleash a string of curses sent his way. “What do you think of this?” He prodded, already sensing the displeasure in the man’s demeanour.
Jin turned around, his back to the screen, his fingers twiddling together in a way that reminded the other two of a child. Yoongi scoffed, his eyes locked with Jin’s. “Is that all your triple bacon breakfast can get us?” He asked, the coldness in his voice sending a shiver down Jin’s spine. For a second the tension in the room reached surmountable levels and Namjoon gulped, his eyes flitting between the two men in front of him. He couldn’t help but wonder if there was something going on between them, and he made a mental note to ask. If there was indeed an issue between the two men, he needed to know. If only for the sake of the team. Yoongi, as cold and inexpressive as he was, was his partner, whereas Jin was the best tech they had. He couldn’t risk either of them. Preparing to step in he clenched his fists when, thankfully, Jin’s familiar rambunctious laughter made him pause.
“Thankfully for me, I had no triple bacon breakfast today, only a coffee. But if you want to treat me to one Yoongs, please do.” Jin said lightly, his good mood lightening the atmosphere, making Namjoon crack a smile in relief.
“Pshyea, right, I’m not a bacon head like you. Now, if you two clowns,” Yoongi pointed to Jin and Namjoon accusingly to prove his point, “are done, can we go back to the video? There is something important that both of you have missed.” He tapped his foot pointing at the screen. When none of the other two made a move to react he sighed in disappointment. “Rewind to where the shooting starts.” He ordered Jin who grumbled but did as he was told. When Yoongi meant business it was best to not cross him.
“The recoil creates sparks right?” He looked expectantly around waiting for one of them to catch up with his trail of thought. Namjoon’s raised eyebrow and Jin’s unchanging persistent smile aggravated him – a clear sign none of them understood what he meant. With an overly dramatic sigh he shuffled closer to the screen pointing at the small circle of light.
“See that, that means light doesn’t it?” Pulling his eyes away from the screen he turned back to his colleagues. Their nod in understanding was enough for him to carry on. “Now it will illuminate, if only briefly, small areas of the space.” He said, his eyes still trained on the flabbergasted men. This time he didn’t wait for them to catch up before he continued. “This means that regardless of the quality of the–“ before he could carry on, Namjoon’s shout of triumph startled him.
“We can briefly see the faces lit up by the small spark?” The team leader pointed towards the screen happily with a proud smile on his face. Yoongi’s expression as he nodded would have been comical, eyes slightly wider than usual, mouth agape if not for the slight flare of his nostrils. A habit Namjoon picked up on easily as his partner on the field for a good few years. They needed to be attuned with each other to make it work, especially in situations where none of them could explain their feelings. Not like Yoongi had a good track record of said instance, so for Namjoon, every expression of his – was a full blown sentence.
“One way of putting it, yes.” Yoongi agreed.
“But,” Namjoon paused, his elated expression dropping, confusion painted on his face. “What does that mean, do we even know what we are looking for?” He for one didn’t. When you came to him delivering the file, he’d even forgotten about the case. The case that made him what he was now, the case that pushed his bitterness to the maximum regardless of the position it put him in.
“We’ve tried before Yoongi, and you remember it didn’t work.” He sighed, reminding his partner of the days they spent pouring over the case, until they made the hard decision to let the case grow cold. They didn’t find anything but a few small clues here and there. The name of the club which burnt down to a crisp, and the name of the bouncer, Kim Taehyung. Nothing else. No face for said name, the man either having died in the fire that engulfed the club by the end of the hazardous night, or having vanished into thin air. Any trail found went dead. When Yoongi put his foot down declaring he was through with everything, Namjoon was at the end of his wits, close to pulling his own hair out. He didn’t have that much of a heavy heart when he agreed, yet he would be lying if he said the case didn’t weigh on his mind from time to time.
So when you presented him the files, he readily took them.
“Yes, maybe. But–“ Yoongi tried before a gleeful shout cut him off once more.
“But you may never know what triple bacon allows you to do, it just needs to be the right time! I got it!” Jin interrupted, having gone through the process of doing exactly what Yoongi said. “The image may be shit, but nothing your Jin-ius tech can’t fix.” He laughed proudly to himself.
“Get your head out of your ass and keep the bacon in there. Get on with it, Seokjin.” Yoongi grunted, and as neutral as Namjoon was to Jin’s constant puns, this time he wholeheartedly agreed with his stoic partner.
Seokjin cleared his throat, swiveling back to the screen. “This–“ he pointed at the blown up still he captured.
Both Yoongi and Namjoon strained their necks, eyes narrowed trying to make sense of the picture. The pixels made it difficult to discern at first, the spots of black and grey mixing readily in their head. But when their brains caught up with their eyes, they could make out the shape of two faces. Close together but not in a position where they would have been dancing. It seemed to be a woman and a man judging by facial structure and hair length. Namjoon knew he couldn’t be sure, so he made it a point to analyse it properly. The woman seemed to have her eyes half closed, the small bit of the irises that was visible giving her the appearance of a raccoon caught in a flashlight. The man couldn’t be seen as well as her, his face further away from the source of light but they could lightly make out the curvature of a nose.
Namjoon paused, nose scrunched in concentration. His brain was screaming at him pointing out clues. Clues he didn’t think he would like. “Jin, please enlarge that.”
Jin nodded, his lack of response a clear understanding that he shouldn’t cross the line. “Here ya go.”
Namjoon leaned into the screen so close he felt his nose bump into it. “Fuck.” His heart didn’t just drop once, but twice. He could now pinpoint two important elements within the enlargement of the image on the screen. He’d been right, and he was not happy.
“Wait isn’t that tattoo–“ Yoongi pointed to the man’s wrist, his arm around the woman’s shoulder used as a clear support making the mark on his wrist easier to see.
Namjoon nodded gravely. “The Black Mantis, yes. And that–“ he pointed to the woman, “is Y/N.”

Your day was definitely not going as it should have. The messy situation you landed yourself in when you decided to enter Hoseok’s office, combined with Namjoon’s probing, you decided to go home and relax. When you received a call from Jimin you almost answered, debating whether or not you craved his soft lips on your skin or just a warm bath. Choosing to ignore it, you decided that making yourself some dinner and a bath would be a more productive way to unwind - this time no amount of hookups would help you clear your thoughts. And for some reason, you were against discussing with Jimin anything Hoseok related. You may have no knowledge of the judge’s past but you knew Jimin from before. After having had him in your bed more than once, you knew that what you read on his face during your last encounter was pure animosity.
The last time you spoke to Jimin, still as law students, hung above your head like a dead rat. It stunk and it was an unpleasant thought to have. Coming across him that night in the corridor of the club, you paused in your step, side eyeing him, wondering if you should address him or just pass by him pretending as if nothing had happened.
It didn’t take you long to reach a decision; your friends emerged from the bathroom causing a ruckus, stumbling into everything that stood in their way — and that included your unstable body. Stumbling to the side, your hand shot out to grab onto anything that would help you keep your balance. Finding a strong sturdy arm reaching out for yours you didn’t think twice before you took it, straightening yourself up before glancing at the owner. You’d hoped it wouldn’t have been him, but the chances were slim and you knew it. There was no one else there apart from you, your drunken friends who seemed to have forgotten about you already halfway down the corridor, and him.
“Thank you.” You forced out, pulling your hand away as if it burnt. Clearing your throat you patted down your body, an attempt to distract yourself from the situation, before you turned around to leave.
“Y/N.” His voice, as soft and smooth as ever, called out to you and you paused, your back towards him not daring to turn around. “Be careful of what you do tonight.” His voice didn’t waver but you could read the warning in his words. Feeling outraged at his sudden overbearing nature you turned around to give him a piece of your mind.
“Who–“
“You’re drunk, be careful of what you do.” He narrowed his eyes at you, his mouth a straight line. His serious demeanour made you pause, mouth agape. His voice paired with his closed off behaviour made you nervous and you could feel the trickle of sweat drip down from your temple. You gulped, the pit in your stomach growing with anger. Who did he think he was?
“Fuck off Jimin.”
The phone rang incessantly next to you for a good few minutes, the name displayed on the screen not changing from Jimin’s. With a sigh, you decided to indulge him, if only to let your sentiments known.
“What is it, anymore of your calls and my phone will explode on the table.” You muttered into the receiver, allowing yourself to fall back down onto the couch. You could hear the clink of a glass and the sound of voices in the background, and you knew he was already on his way to being drunk.
“Jimin, are you out?” You tread carefully, deciding to play it safe, so as to not aggravate him from the start.
“Yes.” Was his swift reply and when nothing else came after that you decided to prod him for more information.
“Have you had alcohol?” Your attempts at keeping your voice neutral proved to be futile. It was not like him to be this curt with you, normally he would have started the conversation in a way that would aggravate you to no end. He thrived off of that. This time, he seemed so tame you couldn’t help but worry.
“No.” Jimin slurred, his laugh sounding bitter to your ears. “But I am about to.” The sound of rustling and a distant voice ordering a double on the rocks filled your ears and you stood up quickly, your eyes zeroing in on your coat. You were still dressed as you’d just come back from work and you thanked your lucky stars for delaying your bath. Reaching out for your shoes you stumbled into the wall, rattling the coat rack.
Muttering curses you bent down to pick up the coat that fell in the process, noticing the picture that fell out of the pocket. You hesitated to show it to Namjoon earlier, but now you were more than glad you changed your mind. Finding out who the man in the picture was earlier, the one standing next to your father shocked you enough to force you to leave his office without grabbing the information he had for you. Regardless, even that piece of information kicked the snowball down the hill. You were only hoping it wouldn’t transform into an avalanche. Hoseok had a lot more to hide than you expected, and you were fearful to dig deeper into it. Especially when it involved your father, and the man whose whole being existed to irritate and exasperate you.
“Y/N?” Jimin’s voice easily broke you out of your thoughts. Fumbling with an excuse you felt guilty for ignoring the pressing matter you were dealing with - Jimin and his odd behaviour. You’ve known him for long enough to suspect if left to his own devices he would do something stupid. You tried to ignore the nagging in the back of your mind that reminded you of his involvement with that club, you remembered flashes if it – and his unmistakable face was burnt into your brain.
As much as you wanted to question him on that— there was a time and place; and this time he needed you to be on your A game. Not the opposite way round.
“Jimin, where are you?” You urged, coat already in hand ready to head out the door.
“Fuck, Y/N, no.” Your heart wrenched in your chest . The desperation in his voice made you gulp. You’ve never heard him this distressed, hopeless – this vulnerable.
“Jimin, stop, just tell me where you are. I will drive to you.” You said pacing the corridor fiddling with the buttons on your coat. “There is no need to push me away, we are not in school anymore, I thought we already discussed that.” Trying to reason with him felt like an impossible mission. You were aware that bringing up the past would only do damage, but you needed to get through to him somehow.
Hearing his laboured breathing over the phone, followed by his whimper cleared out any suspicion - he was drunk. “Y/N, don’t.” He ordered his voice back to its normal controlled and measured manner. “ I already lost Jungkook.” You furrowed your brows at the name, not recalling anyone with the name. “I can’t think about you too.” He paused, taking in a deep breath and you held your tongue aware he was not done. “So please, stay where you are, I don’t want to see you. I will call you.” He hung up the phone before you could respond to him.
You stood frozen, your mouth wide open in astonishment at the whiplash this conversation gave you. Not knowing what to do and with your mind still set on going to see Jimin, you pocketed your phone. You made your way out of your apartment getting into your car, distractedly fiddling with the keys, Jimin’s words replaying in your head like a broken record.
I already lost Jungkook. -Who was Jungkook?
Tumblr media
Jungkook smirked to himself, glancing at his watch. As soon as you left the taskforce and got into your car he jumped into action. He knew he had to give you a few minutes head start just so you wouldn’t suspect anything. Even the slightest of doubts could expose him. After counting to ten in his head, the longest ten seconds of his life, he increased his pace getting in his own car and starting the ignition.
Pulling out of the car park he immediately spotted the back of yours rounding the corner at a stop light. He picked up his phone ready to call Jimin to share the news of his success. He knew that if he told him about the additional steps he’d taken to track you over the phone, the older man would manage to calm down before he did something brash.
“Is it done?” The phone didn’t even get a chance to ring more than once, Jimin’s soft voice filling the car over the speaker.
“Boss.” Jungkook smirked, his foot planted onto the acceleration tires screeching as he sped out of the traffic light. He almost lost your car in the traffic jam as he swerved round. That wouldn’t have been much of a problem, but it would’ve been more of a hassle if he had to pull out his GPS to find you. For today he couldn’t waste any time, he had to know exactly where you were heading next.
“Jungkook, cut the bullcrap please. Is it done?” Jimin sounded impatient, and judging by the sounds in the background, he was in public and couldn’t talk too much. Keeping an eye on your car, he grabbed the phone out of the holder and brought it closer to him.
“It’s all good, she’s on the move.” Jungkook smirked even though he was aware that his boss wouldn’t be able to see him. “ And we have a tailgate on us.” he noted.
Hearing the older male sigh on the other end as if aware of what he was thinking, he gripped the steering wheel until his fingers cramped. Jungkook knew his boss would tell him to be safe, but what Jimin didn’t understand was that he craved the action. A few days between his jobs was a few days too much.
“Jungkook, don’t be stupid.” Jimin warned. Having known the reckless boy for years, he knew exactly what he was thinking.
Throwing another quick glance through the rear mirror, and no longer spotting any car tailing him Jungkook laughed, his disappointment shining through. He was too good for them, but that took away the thrill of the chase for him. “It’s okay Jimin, I lost them. They’ve already bit my dust. And Y/N is-” he started eyes searching for your car.
In his haste to get out of the parking lot to follow you, he had forgotten one important thing. One thing that Jimin always told him to never forget. As soon as he heard the violent bang and felt the wheel rip out of his hands as the car swerved, he knew this mistake may have cost him his life.
He felt as if time had stopped, as if he was watching a fight scene happening underwater. His ears felt clogged and the sound of his tires screeching barely registered in his head. The only thing he managed to pick up was the tinny sound of Jimin calling out his name and the fact that he felt his phone slip out of his hands slowly. Before the device even hit the floor, he felt the impact of metal hitting the side of the curb turning the car upside down. The motion made him feel sick and for a second he toyed with the idea that getting caught in a running washing machine would feel similar.
He didn’t know when the motion stopped, his head pounding with excruciating pain, his ears suddenly popping, and the sound of a waterfall echoing around him. He felt the wetness on his face trickling from his hairline into his eyes, and the cold numb feeling washed over him like waves over the shore, again and again. Had he landed in a lake or was he just high, and managed to actually get into a washing machine? Doing laundry did hurt. He would have laughed at the ridiculousness of his thoughts but darkness consumed him little by little. He could do with some sleep.

"Ht'tschu!"
By the fifth time that Jeongguk had to tear himself away from the recording equipment to sneeze almost violently into his hands, Namjoon was ready to call it quits for the day. The pair had been finishing up some backing vocals for a nearly-completed song - it was only a bit of harmonization, nothing extreme or extravagant. Jeongguk had always been the best with harmonizing, especially in a higher pitch, so Namjoon figured that he would layer the maknae's hidden track over it first just to get a feel for the way it sounded.
But Jeongguk was barely able to get through any of his lines or simple melodies without having to turn around to sneeze or clear his throat. And now that Namjoon thought about it, his voice did sound a bit rough around the edges and maybe even a little congested if he listened closely enough to his dongsaeng's voice blasting through his headphones. And, above all, he couldn't get through a track that he would have aced any other day. It was nearing 1 AM and the maknae looked tired, stressed, and sick behind the mic.
"JK," he called through the slightly-opened door beyond the large built-in window between them (purely to keep unwanted sounds out of the recording). "You okay?"
Jeongguk sniffed and rubbed at his nose with a knuckle, ears reddening slightly at the sudden attention. Namjoon found it incredibly endearing that, despite living together for just shy of seven years, he still managed to get embarrassed over minor stuff like that.
"Yeah, I'm alright, hyung. I'm sorry, I know you wanted this finished quickly," he managed, staring at the open mic in front of him with obvious frustration and guilt, the tip of his bunny nose pink with mild irritation.
Namjoon stood and took off his bulky headphones, joining him in the adjacent room and placing a firm hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry about it, Gguk, it's not your fault." The maknae sniffled again but didn't say anything, looking so pitifully sad as his eyes wandered around the floor. "Are you wearing a new cologne or anything? New shampoo?" Namjoon knew how sensitive their youngest was to smells - his perfume of choice was actually faint and made for women and he wore it for the sole purpose of it not irritating his sinuses. Even a change in shampoo, conditioner, or hair spray had a tendency to trigger Jeongguk's rhinitis flare-ups.
Jeongguk shook his head. "No, everything's been the same, Joon-hyung. I don't know why it's like this."
The rapper chewed at his lip worriedly, running a hand through the younger man's soft hair. "You think you're getting sick, babe?" Namjoon chose to break out the pet names now - it helped break Jeongguk out of that shy, nervous, I'm-grown-up-so-I-can-handle-everything-myself shell he always tried to adopt.
"Hih-H'tshhuh! T'cHh!"
Jeongguk didn't have time to reply before he was pitching forward to sneeze twice into his elbow, leaning back with a little groan. Namjoon chuckled quietly and rubbed the maknae's back as he sniffled and scrubbed at his nose with his sleeve. "I think that might be a yes."
The maknae sighed, rubbing at his brow like he had a headache. "I don't want to be."
Namjoon just tutted and put his palm to the younger man's forehead, frowning when he felt the slightest bit of heat underneath his hand. He wasn't flushed and didn't feel too warm, but he always ran hot when he was coming down with something. "I don't think you have a choice in this one, Gguk-ah."
"But hyung," Jeongguk whined, looking up at him with his big doe eyes, "I can't get sick right now. We have so much stuff to do and I'm already making you stay late-"
"Hey, no," he shushed. "You're not holding back anything. We have work, sure, but it's not anything that we can't push back a few days for you. This is the lightest our schedule has been for a while, so don't stress about it, okay?" Namjoon smiled faintly, running his fingers once more through Jeongguk's fringe. "And you're not keeping me here doing anything. We could have been doing this next week or even not at all; this is optional just to test the sound, you know that."
Jeongguk nodded, sniffling again for good measure. "Yeah, okay," he mumbled, still disappointed and very much not convinced.
"Why don't we go ahead and head home? It's late," Namjoon yawned, stretching, all an act just to get the maknae to not protest leaving just like the rapper knew he would. He had always been the hardest one to take care of - most of the others eventually gave in and let themselves be coddled. But, nope, not Jeongguk. He would put up a fight until he was passed out or in the hospital, something that his hyungs tried relentlessly to keep from happening. No matter how much they drilled into his head that you need to talk to us, Gguk or you can tell us anything, Gguk, it seemed like the kid never listened. Despite the fact that he had recently turned twenty-one, he had absolutely zero skills in the self-care department.
Jeongguk nodded and Namjoon marked that as a big success on his part. "Okay." He patted his pockets a few times before sighing. "Let me find my keys first."
That's right. He drove us here this morning.
"No that's okay, Gguk. I'd rather call a cab." Namjoon wasn't sure if he really wanted his maknae driving while sick, and at midnight nonetheless. He was already a little reckless behind the wheel on the best of days and the last thing they needed was him having a cold (or worse yet, flu) on top of that. The leader silently cursed himself that he hadn't gotten around to getting his license yet (and tried not to be embarrassed that the youngest of his group had to drive him around despite the age gap).
"No, I'm fine, hyung. I can drive," Jeongguk protested, looking just a little too eager to prove himself and that he was indeed okay. "I can.. d-dr- hhitsHh!"
He was interrupted by another sneeze, though, pitching forward, bent at the waist from the strength of it. He slowly straightened upwards, hands still cupped around his face. Namjoon took the hint and passed him a tissue, which Jeongguk hesitantly took as if he were almost too prideful to take it. He usually was, and the rapper was thankful that it was late in the evening. A tired Jeongguk was an obedient Jeongguk.
"I know you can, Ggukkie, but I'd rather just call someone. It's late and we're both tired; I'd feel better if we had a cab or a manager come pick us up. Besides, we're here every day. We can pick up your car another day, yeah?"
Jeongguk wiped his nose with the tissue and threw it away, sighing. "Okay. Is Sejin-nim still here?"
"Let me text him. Go ahead and put your coat on."
The maknae nodded and went to retrieve his hoodie as Namjoon fumbled with his phone.
Joon: Hyung-nim, are you still in the building?
Cool manager hyung: yeah I'm about to leave. need a ride?
He smiled at how Sejin already knew what he needed before he had the chance to say anything about it.
Joon: yeah, me and Ggukie are finishing up in the studio.
Joon: do you mind dropping us off?
Manager hyung: of course, it's on the way anyways. but I thought Jeongguk drove you two here..?
Joon: yeahh but I think he's coming down with something. don't want him on the roads right now ~_~;
Manager hyung: aishhhh why am i not surprised
Manager hyung: that kid always pushes himself too hard
Manager hyung: meet me outside in 10. i'll stop by the pharmacy tomorrow.
Joon: thank you Sejin-hyung :))
By the time Namjoon looked up from his phone, Jeongguk had pulled his hoodie on and was scrubbbing at his nose with one of the sleeves, sniffling weakly. The hoodie was a couple sizes too large and hung low around mid-thigh. He had balled up his hands inside of the sleeves, making rather adorable sweater paws with them. His nose was now red, morphing from the innocent pink tinge that it had held for most of the night, and his eyes looked a little far-off and watery. Namjoon tried his best not to make a sound of endearment and simply pocketed his phone, reaching out and squeezing his dongsaeng's shoulder.
"Sejin-nim is gonna pull up out front for us."
"'Kay," the maknae mumbled, looking exhausted despite himself. Hopefully it wouldn't be hard to get some medicine in him and put him to bed.
Sejin held true to his word; his car was already warm and running by the time the pair made it downstairs. Namjoon crawled into the backseat with Jeongguk instead of taking his usual place up front. Jeongguk didn't seem to mind, or even notice for that matter, as he put on his seatbelt and yawned into his hand. Namjoon caught Sejin's knowing smirk in the rear view mirror, though, and felt his face heat up.
He wasn't one of the most doting members but he still cared, alright?
Sejin started up the car and pulled out of the parking lot. "How's the song looking, boys?"
"It's going great, Sejin-nim," Namjoon smiled. "Jeongguk is really blowing it out of the water." He reached over and ruffled Jeongguk's hair lightly. Jeongguked smiled that cute smile he does, lips barely pulling back to preview his bunny teeth, eyes scrunching gently around the edges, and it was all Namjoon could do to not make a noise like a variation of a dying animal. That kid does something to his heart that should not be legal. The maknae pushed his hand away and he let him, reaching down to intertwine their fingers and rest them on his thigh instead.
Sejin chuckled deep and throaty, smiling in the rearview mirror. "Just as usual, huh?"
"Yep." Namjoon ran his thumb over Jeongguk's knuckles. "Golden maknae here always does his best."
Jeongguk ducked his head and smiled, teasing his lower lip with his teeth, ears going a bit red. He had never been able to take a compliment without getting embarrassed. "Thanks, hyung."
"Aish, don't thank me kid." Namjoon swore his heart was about to burst. His maknae really was just too sweet without knowing it.
Jeongguk was opening his mouth to say something back but stopped short, getting a far-off look in his eyes as his jaw hung slack. His nose twitched and scrunched several times with the effort not to sneeze; his breath hitched several times as his breathing quickened. He was not able to quell the feeling, though, and sneezed openly onto his lap before he could react.
"Hih.. hh-huh-H'itsxhu! Ht'scHh! Es'cHischh!"
He tore his hand from Namjoon's as he caught the second and third that came with it. They sounded increasingly intense and painful, and Namjoon winced in sympathy.
Sejin sucked in air through his teeth sharply as Jeongguk slowly brought his hands away from his face and sniffled in retaliation a few times. "You feeling okay, kid?" He pulled up at a red light and looked him over in the rear view mirror. "That sounded kind of bad."
Namjoon was glad that Sejin chose not to mention the fact that he had already told him Jeongguk wasn't feeling his best. Jeongguk would have been eternally embarrassed and probably would deny his hyung's help for a while. He had a strange trust system and Sejin seemed to know that.
Jeongguk snuffed once more against the increasing stuffiness in his sinuses before replying. "Yes, I'm okay Sejin-nim, thank you."
Namjoon withheld a sigh and put a hand on Jeongguk's thigh. Always so closed off and shy. Of course, he loved his maknae and wouldn't change his personality for anything. But sometimes he wished he would open up a little more and be a little more trusting to those around him. He had opened up to his band mates after a while, of course, but it was still hard for even them to get through to him at times. Jeongguk could be silly and goofy and just himself wherever he was, but when it came to showing any form of weakness it was like he retreated as far back into his shell as he could get. It was a constant inner struggle for him, realizing that he's still human and needs to treat himself as such. Even one (1) voice crack during a performance can drive him to tears. Weakness and mistakes are just not something that he tolerates with himself, as sad as it makes Namjoon. He's never really as concerned with Jeongguk's physical condition as much as he is with his psychological one when his health dips.
Sejin sighed quietly enough for Jeongguk to miss it and pulled up as the light turned green again. "If you're sure. Just let me know if that changes, okay, Jeongguk-ah?"
"Yes, hyung-nim." Namjoon could hear the gratefulness in the maknae's voice, even if he most likely would not accept the help.
"Aish, kid, always so formal," Sejin grumbled playfully. He had long stopped trying to get Jeongguk to drop the honorifics. They were fond and playful now more than anything.
Jeongguk made that happy noise in the back of his throat that he tended to do, sort of like a mix between a laugh and a endearing huff, and replied, "Of course, Sejin-ssi."
"Ack!" Sejin waved one of his hands in the air dismissively. "That's worse!"
Jeongguk chuckled, fully this time, with a grin that split his whole face and made his eyes squint. He seemed tired, but happy still - probably wasn't feeling too bad, then.
The trio fell into a comfortable silence for the rest of the trip. Namjoon could feel that they were all tired - reasonably so, it was past 1am - and if he was being honest he was ready to do nothing more than just crash in bed when he got home. But his maknae still needed to be taken care of, because he certainly wasn't going to take medicine on his own.
The pair said their goodbyes to Sejin after he pulled up outside of their apartment, with the older man giving Namjoon a knowing wink as a way to say good luck with that one. Namjoon just laughed and waved him off. He knew how to handle his maknae.
Jeongguk stumbled inside, already half-asleep from the car ride, and made his way into the bathroom. Namjoon veered towards the kitchen where their medicine cabinet was and dug around for a few minutes looking for some sort of cold medicine or anti-congestant. He came up with a half-empty blister packet of a nighttime cold medicine which was about the best he could have hoped to find. With the winter, colds had been going around the members quite often and it was around that time of the year that they were constantly running low on medicines. That, and it would help Jeongguk sleep more soundly - even though he usually slept a lot (like, a lot) when he was sick, it was never very deeply and it left him still feeling exhausted, even after he was healthy again.
Namjoon popped a few blue gel-capped pills into his hand and filled up a glass of ice water as he heard the shower come on, sighing when he realized he also still needed to shower. But then he had a thought... why wait? He'd rather keep an eye on his dongsaeng anyways.
Setting the pills and glass on the counter, Namjoon made his way other to the bathroom and poked his head in. "Mind if I join you, Ggukkie?" he called.
"Sure, hyung," came Jeongguk's reply, rough around the edges and tired. Even though he had been living with roommates for many years, he still erred to the shy side, especially when it came to being undressed around others. But, if he was tired enough or felt bad enough, he tended to care less about exposure and more about having company and skinship.
At his response, Namjoon stepped into the bathroom and quietly closed the door behind him, quickly stripping down and pulling back the shower curtain to step under the warm stream of water. Jeongguk stepped over to make room for him (thankfully they finally had enough money for an apartment with several large bathrooms with large tubs and showers, so both of them comfortably fit). The water was a tad too hot, probably because the younger was feeling chilled from being out in the cold, even if they were just walking from the car to their door. Or that's what Namjoon hoped - he was praying the kid wasn't cold because a fever was coming on. He did his best to ignore it, though.
Jeongguk was just beginning to shampoo his hair, eyes droopy and tired. He sniffled once, and then twice - the steam was probably helping with his congestion. Namjoon struggled against a fond little smile and reached over to shampoo his dongsaeng's hair himself. Jeongguk didn't even argue and dropped his hands immediately to his sides. His eyes fluttered closed as his hyung worked the product into his hair, swaying with the motion. He sighed a long, drawn-out breath and leaned into Namjoon's touch, mouth just barely hanging open like a puppy's when receiving a good scratch.
"You're not allowed to ever stop that, hyung," he mumbled, words thick with exhaustion and groggy, eyes still closed. Namjoon laughed again and massaged the base of his scalp.
"We'll see about that, kiddo." He worked the suds through Jeongguk's long hair (wow, it had really gotten lengthy, hadn't it?) and took a second to admire the youngest's features. Even when he was feeling under the weather, his face was still radiant and beautiful. His skin was perfectly blemished, a healthy tan (how could anyone ever want to whitewash him?), and the resting-exhaustion-pout glued to his expression made him look younger and more adorable than ever. As Namjoon guided his head underneath the stream of water, he took a second to appreciate how lucky he was to have Jeongguk as his dongsaeng.
Jeongguk preened under the warm water, melting under it as it met his skin. He looked half-asleep. Namjoon fondly tapped his cheek, to which he opened his eyes; the older man smirked. He was just about to say something teasing when Jeongguk's face screwed up and he hitched, pitching forward catching it in his elbow.
"Hh- hh'itschiew!"
He sniffled a few times as he straightened up, keeping his elbow to his face as he coughed a couple times into it. Namjoon felt his chest tighten and eyebrows pinch together.
"Are you sure you're feeling okay Ggukkie?" He ran his hands through the younger's hair once more, scratching at the base of his neck. Jeongguk just nodded and coughed one more time before dropping his arm, pushing even further into his hyung's touch. But he didn't say anything or respond verbally at all. He was probably feeling too tired to even try and debate about his health. Namjoon just sighed and reached for his own shampoo, quickly lathering up his silver-blonde hair. "I have some medicine laid out for you. Let's just finish up so you can take it and we can get you to bed, hmm?"
Jeongguk only nodded sleepily once more, fumbling for the conditioner. Namjoon once again took over washing his dongsaeng's hair as soon as he had finished with his own; Jeongguk was seriously lagging behind as he struggled to stay awake underneath the stream of hot water. After rinsing out the remaining conditioner from the younger's hair, Namjoon passed over the body wash, turning the maknae around so he could wash his back. Soon enough, though, they were both toweling off and clumsily dressing in sleepwear. Jeongguk groaned when Namjoon pulled out the hairdryer.
"Hyung, can we please just skip that? I want to sleep," he whined, lip protruding in a cute little pout in an attempt to win his hyung over.
"Nope, no way. You're already getting sick and the last thing we need is it getting worse because you went to bed with cold, wet hair. Turn around and sit on the counter if you want."
Jeongguk huffed, annoyed, but did as he was told anyways. Namjoon pressed a chaste kiss to his forehead before brushing through the younger's hair and turning on the blow-dryer. Now the maknae was actually falling asleep, head lolling down several times before he woke himself up and jerked himself back upright. Namjoon bit back a smile as he continued to blow dry his hair, overwhelmed by fondness. By the time his hair was dry, Jeongguk was passed out, mouth hanging open and cheek pressed against his shoulder. At the sound of the dryer turning off Jeongguk stirred, blearily opening his eyes and blinking several times to focus them.
"'M done?"
"Yeah, kiddo. Hop down and we'll go take your medicine."
Jeongguk fixed him with a groggy glare. "You didn't dry your hair."
Namjoon chuckled and winked. "I'm too tired, I guess."
The younger slid off the countertop and headbutted his hyung in the chest; evidently he was too tired to pick his head up, so he let it rest on Namjoon's sternum as he weakly hit him with a closed fist. "You're the worst, Namjoon-hyung," he mumbled, no real heat behind the words.
He just chuckled in response and wrapped an arm around his dongsaeng's shoulders, leading him out of the bathroom and into the kitchen. "Oh yes, I'm just terrible for looking after my maknae," Namjoon said as he passed Jeongguk the pills from where they were on the counter, holding up the glass to the younger's lips. Jeongguk mumbled faux-angrily under his breath as he tossed the pills into his mouth and let Namjoon give him a drink of water to wash them down. Namjoon took the glass with him as the guided the younger down the hallway and into their shared room, setting it down onto the nightstand.
Jeongguk belly-flopped onto Namjoon's bed with a big sigh, stretched out parallel to the headrest. He grumbled incoherently into the duvet and stilled completely. Namjoon huffed a laugh and slapped him lightly on the back of the thigh.
"Come on, Gguk-ah, move over so we can both fit. That's right, get under the covers." Jeongguk sighed and grumbled again at his words, lazily re-correcting himself to lay properly on the bed. Namjoon lifted up the covers for him and the maknae crawled obediently between the sheets, settling in on his side with his feet curled up in a half-fetal position. The older man climbed in after him on the opposite side of the bed, turning off the bedside lamp and pulling up the duvet over the both of them. He reached over and adjusted the covers to below Jeongguk's chin, effectively tucking him in. As he got settled in himself, Jeongguk squirmed his way to Namjoon's chest, cold nose feeling over his collar bone. The rapper intertwined a leg with the younger's, wincing at his freezing toes, and slung an arm around his slim waist. For a few seconds, it was just the quiet sound of the AC and the feeling of the maknae's chest rising and falling against his own, warm breaths puffing against his neck. Jeongguk's long locks tickled against his cheek.
"Th'nk you, hyung," Jeongguk slurred against his collarbone, sounding sleepy and content but more congested than he had previously. Namjoon just gave a low rumble and pressed a hand to his maknae's forehead. A little warm, but that was probably just from the combined heat of the shower and hairdryer.
"Of course, you don't have to thank me, Gguk." He pressed a kiss into the younger's hair. "How're you feeling, jaigya?" Namjoon's brow contorted in concern as Jeongguk shivered a little in his arms and sniffled against his t-shirt.
Jeongguk just gripped his shirt a little tighter and nosed further into the crook of his hyung's neck and mumbled, "Shh, hyung, sleepy t'me, shhh..." His breaths became a little deeper as he fell further into the grasp of sleep, the small rushes of air sending goosebumps over Namjoon's olive skin. "No m're talkin'," he murmured, sounding as if he were barely hanging onto the last dregs of consciousness.
Namjoon pressed a kiss to his forehead before relaxing back into his pillow, fingers drawing invisible pictures onto the younger's back. "M'kay, babe." Namjoon figured he had been awake long enough - it was nearing 3am and he was feeling sick, there was no point in keeping him up any later than he needed to be. He could always check up on him in the morning. Plus, Namjoon thought he had done a pretty good job of taking care of his maknae thus far - a little questioning could wait. "Goodnight, aeghi. Saranghae."
Namjoon was only barely able to hear the whispered reply of "Joon-hyung, saranghae," before the youngest promptly fell asleep in his arms.
xxx
As expected, Jeongguk was restless during the night. He never really woke up but tossed and turned all the same, occasionally making sleepy noises and sighs against his hyung's neck. He never slept particularly well when he was unwell, which was something Namjoon knew was going to happen. That being said, the older man didn't get much sleep either. He was hyper-vigilant and woke up every time his maknae so much as stirred. Namjoon was exhausted, seeing as he had several late nights in a row, but somehow he didn't seem to mind this time. As the night went on, though, Jeongguk seemed to still, back pressed up against his hyung's chest. Namjoon woke up a few hours later to light streaming through the window and Seokjin knocking at the door to wake them up up. The rapper stirred and stretched, inhaling sharply. It felt like he had hardly slept, but it was already 8am.
Jeongguk still lay quiet as the little spoon, curled up into Namjoon's stomach. His body was radiating heat and he was breathing laboriously through his mouth. Namjoon swore and peeled back the covers, pressing a hand to the younger's forehead; he found it to be hot to the touch. His tan skin shone with sweat and his face was particularly pale aside from the flush of his cheeks. Along with that, he was shivering a little in his sleep, brows contorted into a painful grimace. Namjoon dropped his hand and sighed; he knew this was going to happen.
The older man tucked his maknae back into the covers before getting up himself, sighing once more. He made sure Jeongguk was still asleep as he left the room. Seokjin was in the kitchen brewing coffee from the Kurig, watching with tired eyes as the bitter liquid slowly filled his cup. Namjoon approached him from behind and wrapped his hands around the older man's slim waist, burying his face in a broad shoulder and pressing down hard with his forehead.
Seokjin chuckled and patted his arm. "What's this, Namjoon-ah?"
"Jeonggukie's sick," he grumbled into the fabric of the singer's sleep shirt, getting a whiff of his fabric softener in the process. Seokjin always smelled so nice. The younger man could feel the other craning his head to look at him so Namjoon picked his head up and rested his chin on his shoulder instead, meeting Seokjin's gaze. "It came on last night," Namjoon sighed. "He was restless all night and when I woke up he was running a fever."
Seokjin maneuvered out of his arms, turning around to face his dongsaeng and tracing the pads of his thumbs over Namjoon's eye-bags with a concerned crease in his brow. "Are you sure you didn't get it, too? You look awful, jaigya. You're pale."
"No, hyung, I feel fine. Maknae-ah just kept me up with all his tossing and turning."
Seokjin got a smug look on his face, smirking.
"What?" Namjoon deadpanned. He was too tired for this.
"Well," Seokjin drawled. "You're usually such a heavy sleeper. Worried about our youngest, are you?"
Namjoon felt his ears go hot with embarrassment. What's the deal with people, first Sejin, now Seokjin was teasing him? Unbelievable. "With all due respect hyung, shut up. Just because I don't show it as much as you do I actually do care about my maknae," Namjoon spat, pushing away against his hyung's chest and trying to walk past him, annoyed. Seokjin's squeaky laughter followed him and he was stopped by the older man catching his wrist.
"I'm just kidding Joonie, don't get so defensive," he giggled, drawing the younger back into a hug.
Namjoon sighed and buried his face again in Seokjin's shoulder. "Maybe don't tease me then," he grumbled, but the heat was gone.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Seokjin stroked his back and laughed one more time. "Have you checked his temperature yet?"
"Not yet. He's still sleeping."
Seokjin hummed, planting a kiss in Namjoon's bed head before pulling away.
"I'll go get the thermometer. Will you wake him up for me?"
"Sure, hyung." Namjoon started down the hallway, slowly creaking the door open and slipping into his and Jeongguk's shared bedroom. The maknae was exactly where he had left him, turned away from the door curled up on his side. Even though he was about to wake the younger man up anyways, the rapper tiptoed around the bed and kneeled next to his pillow as quietly as he could. Jeongguk's face was still scrunched up and tense with pain, a flush high on his cheeks. His hair and shirt were saturated with sweat. Namjoon reached up with his hand and smoothed over the distressed wrinkles on his forehead; his face relaxed after a few seconds, melting into a neutral expression. His face was hot to the touch and Namjoon's fingers came away damp.
"Jeonggukie," Namjoon murmured, reaching over to grasp his maknae's shoulder gently. "Aghi. It's time to wake up, jaigya." The younger stirred, eyebrows immediately scrunching up again as he fought against waking consciousness and the pain he obviously felt. Namjoon shushed him gently, cupping the side of his face with a large hand and rubbing his thumb over his temple. "I know, babe, wake up for just a few minutes."
Jeongguk blearily opened his eyes and immediately winced, making a pitiful noise of pain from the back of his throat and curling up into a tighter ball. He squeezed his eyes closed and buried his face in his pillow.
"Aigoo, I know, I know it hurts Ggukkie." Namjoon moved from stoking his forehead to running his fingers through his damp hair, something he knew Jeongguk had a soft spot for. "Seokjinnie-hyung is bringing you a thermometer and then we'll get back to sleep, okay?"
Jeongguk whined weakly, voice gravelly from a combination of sleep and sickness, looking up from his pillow to gaze at his hyung pitifully. His eyes were red and glassy and tired, framed by the high spots of fever-induced color on his cheeks. Jeongguk's face screwed up, and for a horrifying second Namjoon was sure he was about to start crying. He pitched forward with a sneeze instead, following it up with a few rattling coughs. Whimpering, he reached up to hold his head in his hands as though the movement had aggravated a headache. The older man frowned and leaned over to press a kiss to his forehead before settling himself on the edge of the bed, running his hand over his dongsaeng's back in soothing strokes.
"How're you feeling, babe?"
Jeongguk just grunted and gently placed his forearm over his eyes to block out the light from the window. "Bad," he mumbled, voice still thick with sleep.
"Tell hyung what's hurting," Namjoon prompted, smoothing out the wrinkles of his maknae's shirt over his side.
Jeongguk didn't move his arm as he answered. "My head n' my body are aching. It's cold."
"I know, aghi. Anything else? Is your throat bothering you?"
The singer just slowly shook his head before once again going still, arching his back against Namjoon's touch. He could feel the younger's fever through his shirt. He was satisfied that the younger's throat wasn't hurting him, though; a hoarse voice was an idol's worst nightmare.
Jeongguk reached back with his free hand and pulled his shirt up to expose his back, reaching for Namjoon's hand to press it into his skin. "Push harder, hyung. Please," he murmured, pushing with more force against Namjoon's hand, digging it into his ribs.
Namjoon took the hint and began to massage his back with the heel of his palm; Jeongguk shivered under his touch, goosebumps breaking out over his skin. He was probably cold and skin most likely sensitive, but wanted skin-on-skin contact anyways. His skin was moist and sticky from perspiration, but Namjoon bore the discomfort and carried on.
"Does that help with the pain Jeonggukkie?"
The maknae nodded underneath his forearm, releasing Namjoon's wrist and draping his arm back around his waist. "It feels good, hyung."
Namjoon adjusted his position on the bed for a better reach, kneading the palms of his hands into Jeongguk's feverish skin, moving from his shoulders down to his calves. Jeongguk mewled under the touch, arching his back and wincing but not pushing his hyung away. He always got awful aches when he was feverish and Namjoon seemed to know just how to get rid of them. The maknae tried to keep as still as possible, pressing his forearm against his eyes hard to try and reduce the pain.
A soft knock resounded on the door before Seokjin poked his head in, frowning softly when his eyes drifted to their youngest member. Jeongguk was shivering and trying his hardest not to let small noises of pain slip through his gritted teeth as Namjoon worked against his tight, painful muscles. The skin of his face was flushed and damp with perspiration - even from across the dim room the mat-hyung could see the rivulets of sweat trailing down his neck. Namjoon turned around, hands still kneading against Jeongguk's thighs, and met Seokjin's eyes with the same concerned look.
Seokjin looked back to the maknae and closed the door behind him, walking around and dumping his handful of medical supplies on the bedside table, keeping only the thermometer.
"Oh, honey," he murmured. "You must be feeling awful. I'm sorry, jaigya." Seokjin passed his fingers through Jeongguk's damp, sleep-tousled hair.
Jeongguk peeped out from under his arm and met Seokjin's gaze. "Good morning, hyung." His voice was strained and congested and the older man winced at the sound of it. He pursed his lips and planted a kiss on the maknae's forehead.
"My Jeonggukie, always so polite. Good morning to you too, baby. Let's get you some medicine and some food so you can get back to sleep okay?"
"Okay," Jeongguk mumbled, struggling to push himself up to sit against the headboard. Namjoon immediately moved to help him up, hoisting him up by the armpits until he was comfortably upright. The younger man winced as soon as he was sitting up, grinding his palm against his eye to try and ease the headache. He obediently opened his lips for the thermometer, holding it underneath his tongue until it beeped. 101.9.
"He wasn't very bad last night at all, hyung, I was surprised when I woke up this morning," Namjoon fretted, chewing his lip.
"You and me both, Joonie. We'll fix him right up though, aghi, don't worry too much," Seokjin said, putting the thermometer down on the bedside table and unscrewing the lid to the fever reducers, shaking a few out onto his palm.
Namjoon was about to respond when Jeongguk's face screwed up again for the second time that morning. His eyes got a far-off look as they glazed over, breath hitching. His already-pink nose twitched and nostrils flared, trembling. He brought his hands up where they paused, hovering just a few inches away from his face.
"Hih..."
Jeongguk squeezed his watering eyes shut, letting out an involuntary whimper as the sneeze refused to leave his body. The singer's mouth hung open just slightly as his breathing hitched again, once, twice, three times, nostrils flared and nose twitching.
"Hih... Hh... Hih.h..! Hihtshu! Hi'tshh!" His body lurched forward as he caught the sneezes in his cupped hands. Seokjin quietly blessed him and rubbed his back. Jeongguk let out a little groan as he leaned back slowly, dropping his hands and scrunching his face up in pain. The sneezing hadn't done much to help his headache.
"Oh, baby, I know," Seokjin cooed, running his thumbs over the distressed lines in the younger's face. Namjoon hopped up from the bed and drew the blinds, engulfing the room in a pleasant darkness. Jeongguk visibly relaxed at the abscence of light, sighing and melting back into the headboard. "Here, Ggukkie, take these and drink half the glass." The older singer pressed the pills into the maknae's hand and held the glass of water he had brought along near his lips. Obediently, Jeongguk popped the pills into his mouth and drank from the cool glass of water as Seokjin put it to his lips. Surprisingly, the younger drained the whole thing - both of his hyungs were pleasantly surprised.
"Good job, babe," Namjoon praised, kissing him on the cheek and patting him gently on the head. Jeongguk made a satisfied noise low in his throat, eyes already closed and lolling down to his shoulder.
"That's my maknae," Seokjin smiled, patting the younger on the shoulder before turning to Namjoon. "I'll finish making his breakfast and leave it in the microwave. I think it's fine if you let him sleep for another few hours. Watch over him, okay?"
Namjoon fixed his eyes on the younger who was blissfully dozing by that point, head lolling down to his chest. "I will hyung."
Seokjin kissed the maknae on the top of his head before leaving the room, going to wake the rest of the members and get them to get ready as quietly as they could (if they could at all, that lively bunch...).
"C'mere, Jeonggukkie," Namjoon muttered, going around to his side of the bed and crawling under the covers, holding his arms out for the younger to crawl into. Jeongguk didn't miss a beat, drowsily slouching down and scooting over until he was wrapped up in the older's arms. He nosed forward until his warm forehead was pressed square against his hyung's cheek. Jeongguk intertwined a leg with the older man's, wrapping an arm around him and pulling him close as he shivered; he must have been freezing cold. Tucking the blanket securely underneath his dongsaeng's chin, Namjoon pulled him as close as he was able. The younger's breathing was already slow and even, already asleep. Namjoon laughed silently and pressed a kiss to his forehead, letting his eyes drift shut as well.
“Saranghae.”
There were definitely worse ways to spend the day, he thought.

aly i require that you do the blorbos post for glee pls and thank you
omg first of all HI CIM GOOD TO SEE YOU I LOVE YOU SO MICH JUST THOUGHT ID PUT THAT OUT THERE
B) idk if you meant the whole post but uh, I’m doing it anyway bc this is our house this is our home and we can leave the Christmas lights up till January
HERE WE GO
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most)
Okay so it’s unequivocally Kurt but lately……… I’ve been thinking about Blaine a lot, especially when it comes to fic, like. There’s a lot of Blaine POV and heavy Blaine centric stuff I’m working on atm because he is simply speaking to me currently. So he’s taking up most of my mental space akdbwkdj
Normally, it is like. SO Kurt though
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped)
FUCK???? This is really hard but I have to give it to Blaine. But god Kurt is an INCREDIBLY close second
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave)
Marley ❤️ I really think this fandom tends to equate boringness with a lack of a desire to start shit but like. She was so sweet and supportive and was truthfully speaking one of the vocalists on the show.
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week)
OKAY SO THIS ONE IS A SHIP BUT I WILL NOT SHUT UP ABOUT NIFF ITS DEFINITELY A 2012 “you had to be there” THING BUT I DO NOT CARE, 6/9 FOR LYFFFEEEEE
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave)
Oooof this is one of my hotter takes, but I kinda love Dave Karofsky?? I just love redemption arcs and his was probably THE most consistent one on the show. He turned good (for lack of nuance) and STAYED good ya know? None of this wish washy bull shit and I respect that
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason)
Sebastián (affectionately torture; for angst purposes)
Sandy (derogatory; kill it with fire)
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell)
Shelby. I’d hit her with my car first tho
thank you for the ask!! This was so fun and was actually kind of hard because tbh all of these could have been Kurt and Blaine bc I love them they’re my blorbo skrunklies ❤️

fuckspn’s mini deancas fic rec
i said a few days ago that i would write a mini fic rec list, and here it is! i tried to limit it to fics i hadn’t seen on other rec lists before, but there are a few that i couldn’t resist adding even though everyone and their mother recommends them. there’s a whole section for “dean pulls cas out of the empty” fix-it fics because i know what the fuck i’m about. also literally all of these are deancas because i don’t read any other type of supernatural fic, and they all have happy endings because i’m not reading supernatural fanfiction to make myself sad.
a quick disclaimer before we start: i generally don’t like explicit sex scenes in fic unless i feel like they’re really narratively earned, realistic, in-character, and necessary to the emotional arc of the story. so while there are explicit fics in here, all but the last two on the list are sufficiently character- and plot-driven that you can skip the sex scenes entirely if you want.
Finale Fix-Its:
(they’ll never break) the shape we take by ~ME~ (Teen, 9k) Yes, this is my own fic, but listen, I wouldn’t have written it if it didn’t hit what I wanted to see in a fix-it! I’m not gonna make any promises as to whether or not you’ll like it, but I do, and that’s what matters here. Read it if you want to see basically every wrong prediction about the finale rolled up into one fic, if you wish they’d kept the Empty as a morally neutral outsider instead of a villain, or if you just like somewhat uncanny, slippery dream logic and gratuitous callbacks. Also even though idk if I’ll ever finish or publish it, I’m working on a fluffy domestic follow-up featuring, among other things, fixes for both Jack and Billie’s endings. I’m just saying that so if you read this fic you know that even though it’s not mentioned, Jack does come back and get to be a normal toddler with his two dads.
my heart a compass by lagaudiere (Teen, 10k) Again, I REALLY hope you like uncanny, slippery dream logic because that’s in this fic too! Cas POV is such a rare and difficult thing and I think lagaudiere nails it. Literally my only complaint about this fic is that at one point Cas imagines Jack having missing baby teeth at age 4 and my immediate reaction was to worry about why Jack would be missing teeth that young. This is because my brain is broken. Your brain is presumably not broken in the same way mine is, so you should enjoy this fic fine.
The World At Large by cenotaphy (General, 4.9k) This fic is so sexy because cenotaphy was like “hey what if there were actual stakes for Dean in the Empty besides the threat of losing the love of his life? Like what if he had a time limit? What if he got fucking stabbed?” and then somehow turned it into the softest little thing about how much all the characters love each other. Truly incredible artistic decisions made here. Despite being relatively short and deancas-centric, Sam and Jack get a lot of screentime here too and they’re absolutely delightful. Tbh you should probably read all of cenotaphy’s season 15 fix-its but if you’re only gonna read one, make it this. (Or Bring Home, but I’ve seen that one on so many rec lists that I think statistically everyone on Earth has read it.)
Other:
You And Your Husband by mikaylamazing (General, 17.9k) 5+1, Dean and Cas getting mistaken for a couple, 80% fluff then 10% angst that genuinely hit me like a gut punch then 10% fluff again. Dean and Cas are at PEAK old married couple in this fic. Yeah they bitch at each other constantly, but they also will tool around the country in their car like a couple of retirees and Dean will indulge Cas’ random flights of fancy even when they’re for something he hates, like the original Starbucks at Pike Place Market. (I’m with Dean on this one.)
Command Me To Be Well by prosopopeya (Explicit, 28k) Not gonna lie, this one hits the “angst with a happy ending” trope hard. The author is NOT fucking around with the warning for internalized homophobia, and I damn near cried at how Dean and Cas clearly loved each other and wanted to be together but just couldn’t because Dean’s psychological hangups were hurting them both. But not only does the happy ending come, the fic luxuriates in it—this is no band-aid slapped over the end, they genuinely fix their shit. Also, this fic has my favorite “Dean coming out to Sam” scene I’ve ever read.
Bring Up the Deep by deathbanjo (Explicit, 22.6k) Okay. Listen. Yes, this is the fic I was talking about the other day, with the tags that make it sound way kinkier than it actually is. And yes, technically this fic does contain dom/sub undertones and sex pollen. But look at me—hey, look at me. This fic owns. It’s a horror case fic, so it’s mainly plot (and three brief sex scenes, but two of those are part of the plot). The monster is genuinely creepy and creative, the supporting characters are enjoyable to read about, the setting is well-drawn, and the ending is something I’m still digesting but in a very enjoyable way. As far as the kinky tags go, the fic basically plays out like Dean and Cas (who are in an established, albeit new, relationship) are slightly randier than normal due to case weirdness: the dom/sub undertones are so light that I barely noticed them, the “sex pollen” is a deliberately unnerving plot device, and both Dean and Cas have nuanced emotional reactions to the whole situation that they are allowed to process and talk through with each other. I’ve never read A Complete Kingdom and never will, but if you’ve ever wanted a Deancas horror casefic set in coastal Maine that won’t leave you a shattered husk of a human being, Bring Up the Deep is for you!
Though The Course May Change by imogenbynight (Explicit, 51.5k) I’ve seen this one on a number of rec lists, but I couldn’t not include it because it’s just so fun. Another case fic involving Dean and Cas staying in a cabin in a rainy, semi-isolated location surrounded by colorful OCs, but this time the only horror is the prospect of fake-dating the guy you’re secretly actually in love with. It’s a delightful read.
More Than Ever by Sass_Master (Explicit, 20.2k) Canon-divergent fic from 2015 about Cas choosing to become human and Dean being a real bitch about it. It’s very fun, but I’m mainly recommending it because it’s part 1 of a series and therefore provides the necessary backstory/buildup for the next fic on this list.
You’re There by Sass_Master (Explicit, 11.5k) This is part 3 of the same series (part 2 is not required reading, it’s just a short explicit fic set in between these two fics), and while most of it is about sex, it’s also a fucking A+, 10/10, award-worthy character study of Dean and his internal relationship to his sexuality. Literally I was reading it going, “That’s it! That’s the Dean Winchester who lives in my head!”
till the juice runs by deathbanjo (Explicit, 8.4k) The epic saga of Dean’s terrible knockoff-Grindr hookups while Cas waits at home for him like if you could see that I’m the one who understands you been here all along so why can’t you see you belong w— Listen, I’ll be honest here, this fic is completely not my usual speed (lots of sex, relatively light—but not nonexistent!—romance, zero Big Emotions), so it doesn’t have much in common with any other fics on this list besides a rotating cast of fun OCs. It is, however, the single funniest fucking deancas fic I’ve ever read in my life. Fun minigame: count how many times one of Dean’s hookups is described as having messy dark hair and/or blue eyes.

ALL 40 BAYBEE!!!!! GIMME SUM ANSWERS
5) Share one of your strengths.
Being,,, prolific?? ?????? ??? ???????????
6) Share one of your weaknesses.
My own mind. No really I'm basically my own worst enemy because I'm too much of a perfectionist and hate myself and mess myself up.
7) Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
Stars are the many, many eyes left behind of the Old Gods.
Arya heard this before. She's heard that the stars are the last of the Weeping Lady's tears. They are the eternally bleeding wounds of the Great Shepard according to the Dothraki. They are the drops of poison given to Baelor the Beloved as he laid asleep. They are the immortal sparks of R'hallor's breath. Arya believes the stars are nothing. They exist in a chasm of darkness and death, and no-one is meant to understand why.
Evermore (T, Arya Stark & Sansa Stark, Game of Thrones, 1179 words)
I HAD A LOT OF FUN GOING THROUGH WESTOROS MYTHOLOGY AND TALES IN HISTORY TO MAKE THAT PART. AND THEN WRITING OUT ARYA'S THOUGHTS ABOUT THAT.
8) Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
"I liked this shirt, you know," Will complains faintly.
Behind him, one of the car-windows rattle. A badly burned hand emerges from the smoke, clawing helplessly.
"We will find you another," Hannibal tells him, disregarding the murderer's intense, gagging screams.
"That's not the point."
"You're holding on needlessly to the limited value of your material possessions, Will. That's not like you." Hannibal lightly clucks his tongue as if disapproving, approaching him and thumbing down Will's jaw. He's warm and wet, and glorious. He's evolving.
"Says the man who buys Patek Philippe wristwatches," Will retorts softly. "For his own pleasure."
The corner of Hannibal's mouth smirks.
"And what kind of pleasure exists within your mind's eye right now, Will?"
"Ripping out your jugular vein with my teeth," Will murmurs, stroking his lambskin-gloved thumb against Hannibal's neck.
"I would be honored."
The Crescendo Of Dying Screams (M, Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter, Hannibal (TV), 908 words)
THIS IS JUST FUN!!! THEY WERE FUN TO WRITE FOR AGAIN AND I HAVE NOT WRITTEN FOR HANNIGRAM IN A WHILE!!
13) What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?
Even if you think it sucks,,,, write it down anyway and then fix it later. The important part is to write and start writing.
14) What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?
Thankfully,,, I don't think I've come across any yet.
15) If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?
I would love to see Perambulate (G, Princess Bubblegum/Marceline & Prince Gumball/Marshall Lee, Adventure Time, 1358 words) done in a comic at least because I NEED THESE TWO CANON COUPLES TO MEET AND BE SILLY. CANON WLW AND MLM.
16) If you only could write one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?
NOT REALISTIC. I DO NOT FUNCTION LIKE THAT
17) Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?
I start out from beginning to ending but sometimes I gotta skip around to keep it going if I get stuck.
18) Do you use any tools, like worksheets or outlines?
*shrugs*
19) Stephen King once said that his muse is a man who lives in the basement. Do you have a muse?
It's probably a little moth trapped in a jar and beating itself senselessly against the glass, but it kind of enjoys it??
20) Describe your perfect writing conditions.
Wrapped in a blanket, alone in my room with headphones and music blasting, with a large water bottle and a little bit of chocolate.
21) How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?
Depends really! Sometimes I'll go through and correct once, and sometimes I will go through like 14 times in one day!
24) Have you ever deleted one of your published fics?
I have! I will upload it again sometime but like,,,,, the person I had made it for in an AO3 fest basically fucked off and me removing it was me going "nah fuck this,,,, it ain't yours anymore!!!"
27) How do you feel about collaborations?
I have done them! I think they're nice! I do not like long term collaboration projects but for a oneshot, yes!
28) Share your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.
@glove23 - I look up to this fic writer so much! They have been battling depression and anxiety, and the complexities of their ADHD, for such a long time and whenever they post something,,, I get so excited! I'm really proud of them! It's hard enough for me to write on a bad mental health day, and I know the struggle they go through, and it's INCREDIBLE to see what they can do! They have been writing since they were young and it really shows how much they love writing and how hard they work on getting the characterization and dialogue to be spot on! Obsessed with their work! (AO3)
@not-so-mundane-after-all-97 - What a powerhouse! Incredible writing and fantastic handling of how she structures plot! Constantly in awe of the ideas she has and when they are well-executed (and they are all of the time)! If you are a fan of Will/Lyra from HDM, this is the person to go to for quality! I promise! (AO3)
other writers I really like are @spookywitchnerd24, @theschubita, @anxiouss-princess, @asajjvxntress, @kingburu, @rapha-writes
29) If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
ngl I really wanna do the "they get back from horse riding and Aleksander refuses to leave Alina's side while she's getting healed" sequel to you are too well tangled in my soul by @glove23
31) Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?
Meh. It depends on the thing I'm writing.
32) How do you feel about smut?
I write it all of the time and read it all of the time. I don't think it's a big deal at all. I respect that it's uncomfy for a lot of people
33) How do you feel about crack?
It's fun! And it can be done well! I saw more crack fic being done back in,,,, like the early 00s and now I don't see it as much,,,,, sad
34) What are your thoughts on non-con and dub-con?
You know what,,, I was just discussing the psychology of why noncon fic is so popular on AO3 (and I have written it before and to my surprise IT GETS THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF VIEWS) and,,, I think the key components to answering this question is understanding that 1) AO3 allows noncon fic to exist therefore it's a dumping ground and 2) rape culture is so embedded into US-centric society especially and 3) there's a lot of traumatized people on AO3 and likely creating noncon to process what happened to them and 4) it's a taboo subject and humanity has been drawn to and obsessed with what is taboo since forever,,,, and tbh the taboo is fascinating to me! It does draw me in! I have written for it and I've read it, and I think it's important to ask questions and examine why we do this!
35) Would you ever kill off a canon character?
HELL YEAH. ABSOLUTELY. I HAVE DONE IT BEFORE AND I'LL DO IT AGAIN!! I prefer more "oh my god they're dead--OH! now they're alive! yayyyyy!" over permanent character death
36) Which is your favorite site to post fic?
AO3. AO3 is queen. I'm not gonna badmouth FFN and Wattpad in terms of people who go there because that's your business however FFN and Wattpad are largely restrictive and mainstream corporate owned areas of interest that don't give a single shit about their users.
38) Talk about a review that made your day.
Whenever my writer friends comment on my fic,,, I literally get emotional. Like those are my favorite comments to see :)
39) Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?
BE SAD FOR HALF A SECOND AND THEN FIGHT.

I'm really sorry to bother you, but I read through your fanfic rec list the other day and I really loved your suggestions. I was wondering if you have a more comprehensive list of Five centric recs anywhere? Or if you had any other fanfic suggestions that you like?
Don’t apologise, you’re not bothering me in the slightest! I don’t have a fic rec list anywhere, but what I’ll do is attach some of my other favourites to this ask for you!😊 I’ve put it under a cut because I’ve attached 16 fic recs and it’s quite a long post.  In case anyone else reading this is curious about the other fic rec ask I did, you can find it here!

On My Terms, by CivilBores: Warning for implied sexual assault! The Handler strikes up a slightly different deal in exchange for a briefcase. Five’s siblings are not happy when they find out about it.
Out of the dead land, by tomorrowsrain: Warning for implied sexual assault in later chapters! Zombie Apocalypse AU. Against all odds, Klaus survives doomsday and finds himself living in an apocalyptic wasteland, hiding from creatures that lurk in the shadows. All that changes when he stumbles across a thirteen year old Five.
Along the Corridor and Up the Stairs, by TheArchaeologist: In an attempt to unwind from the stress of the apocalypse, the Hargreeves decide to go on an impromptu road trip. Five pretends that he’s okay, when it’s really quite the opposite.
Nonlinear theory for dummies, by Inkjade: Hiding out in a cabin from the Sparrow Academy, Vanya grows more confident in her powers, and Five reveals what happened in the barn.
The Snacktime Series, by HotCocoaa: The day the Hargreeves witnessed Five eat a wolf spider as if it were a snack, was the day they realised he had some bizarre eating habits. They take it upon themselves to try and rectify this.
Blonde Pigtails and a Strawberry Headband, by bendycello: The Hargreeves return home from 1963 and Five is enrolled into school. Despite his reservations, things start out okay. That is until there’s a school shooter.
Number Five | The Monster Under The Bed, by Kraeyola: Warnings for graphic depictions of violence and a dark!Five. The Hargreeves siblings slowly realise just how dangerous their youngest yet older brother can be.
Next time, hire a nanny, by TheArchaeologist: While the rest of the Hargreeves go out to watch Vanya’s concert, Five, still reeling from the lingering effects of a chest infections, agrees to babysit Claire. Things go fine, until they don’t.
Shot in the dark, by Soulykins: Five times Five held a gun, and one time he decided it was enough.
I mean let’s be real, there are loads of other fics I could put on this list because there are some incredibly talented writers out there. If you want to check out some more Five centric fics, I would have a look at this tumblr account.  Here is also a list of authors who write a lot of Five centric fics, the work they do is simply amazing, and I would highly recommend checking them out;
