Ok since we are already talking about the toxic side of shipping culture. Here is a post that is marinating in my drafts since weeks
And since we today finally got the closest Net & James ever got since months on a picture / video, let me rant a little
youtube
Because it is so very obvious that they are not allowed to be seen on each others posts atm due to the fan backlash of their separation... and this is so fucking sad. EVEN THO they ended their acting-partnership clearly stating they are still friends and supporting each other. That nothing bad happened between them. AND it is also so obvious that they are constantly at the same events. If it's Domundi group events, some party, birthdays, concerts from their coworker etc. There are so many photos and videos of Net and James taken few seconds apart, almost standing next to each other. You can see by the location, background, their clothes, the people standing next to them.
But the problem with this is, that people think they had a fight and this must be the true reason for their separation...
Tumblr media
If they had bad blood they would not still like each others posts. And sure as hell would not sit near each other at such a big event in the photo, where they could sit next to whoever from their coworkers. They just had to put Nat between them so toxic shippers can't use this as "NetJames reuniting" or whatever.... (also once again reminder: James did not quit acting nor Domundi, he just quit from one acting job while Net stayed and gets a new partner... why is this even such a drama)
They can't win this either way:
if they show they are still hanging out and interact, the toxic shippers will keep annoying and begging them to get back "together" and continue their actor-ship instead of Net getting a new partner. It could even endanger Nets new partner getting hate, if they keep showing up together. (he already got hate for being excited that "Love Upon a Time" can now finally get started since he found a new partner, but he didn't show excitement when James still was his partner... people with brain might understand why that is, when James was unsure about his decision since months which paused the project)
but staying on distance looks like the haters are right that they had a fallout even though they said they are still friends. Hater and toxics eat that up and are looking for who of them to blame for the ship bubble to burst (which is James because how dare he quit a job for multiple personal reasons that are nobodies business but are officially: James has other life goals he wants to focus on as well & got a leg injurie that takes forever to heal properly. But unofficial yet also obvious: James mental health & some secret issue they mentioned but don't tell, which means it is nobodies business)
I would love them to go option 1 with a clear shut down message to the problematic crowd.
It's sad and ridiculous. I just hope this doesn't harm their friendship behind the screens....
It's so mindboggling for me how so many people are (still !!!) looking for someone to blame and put hate onto, even though it's one of the most peaceful and understandable mutually agreed on separations... I don't get it, why people can't just leave it at that and be happy about the good things they both gave us as a duo. But instead they have to turn it into a war... like it's not even the first time ship partners go different ways or someone drops out of a production for personal reasons. Chill.... there are worse things in life. And I say that as big NetJames fan. Like half of the NetJames posts in the tumblr tag are from me.
I have to admit that they both felt more distant with their online presence for months before James quit LUAT. Maybe they tried to soft launch the separation since they knew for a while. Maybe they drifted apart as people. But watching their last fan meeting vlog together, they seemed fine despite them not hanging on each other the whole time. Also their snowboard trip, they both had friendly jokes with eo on xitter and on the photos literally a day before James injury and him dropping out of the drama shortly after.
But those (and the OffGunTayNew thing) are reasons why I hate this real shipping culture in this current form. Don't get me wrong I do love actors having fun together, fun-flirting and them enjoy fanservice even on the most unhinged levels they feel comfortable with. So many of the actors clearly state nowadays that they are not dating, that they are just buddies, coworkers and teasing for fun and good vibes. NetJames were always honest about that too. But some fans are still not able to take the "shipping glasses" down and separate between the acting jobs, promo and them just being coworkers who are also friends. Even if they would have dated for real and now broke up it still wouldn't be fans business to butt in and demand explanations on who, why and what and then even demand them to stay together despite it not working for them.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As soon as you stepped into the newly established campus bakery, walking up to the counter and observing all the pastries, contemplating for a rather long time before you end up deciding on what you’d usually order anyway, Soobin couldn’t help feeling like his world got totally turned upside down. The sight of you rendering him completely speechless and unable to even think.
Time seemingly going by so slow like in the kdramas as your shiny hair majestically blows in the non existent wind inside, smile brightening up the entire bakery. He could practically see the roses blooming around your face like in the mangas. Was this love at first sight?!
Realistically, no.
But were you incredibly attractive to him and a breath of fresh air to the moody, stressed out college students that purchase a single coffee and stay for hours completing assignments with their backs concerningly hunched over? Hell yes.
And unfortunately for Soobin, he does not do well with pretty people. At all. Not realising you had even ordered, too in awe and preoccupied with taking in all your features until he’s snapped back to reality with the clearing of your throat and he can already feel his cheeks burning up horribly fast. Oh god. He really, really hopes it’s not evident right now.
“S-sorry…What did you say?” He begins apologising profusely to you, too embarrassed to even look you in the eyes, staring off more to the side. This was definitely not his best customer service.
With a chuckle, you brush it off and state your order again, “I said could I have the strawberry swirl cheesecake please?” If Soobin could look at himself in third person, he would so be face palming right now. Or better yet, maybe he could just go up and like, punch himself straight up or something for acting like such a loser.
“Ah right... That’s ₩7500. Cash or card?”
You pay with cash and Soobin, very nervously, fumbles around to garner the right amount of change to hand you, though doing it in the most awkward way possible and his palm makes direct contact with yours as he hands the money, making him blush even more and let out a small obvious gasp at the feeling of your soft hand. Oh my god. Why did he do that?! He really hopes you didn’t find that weird.
You only let out another chuckle, thanking him before you’re leaving the bakery in an elegant manner and Soobin is left to sigh and watch your back disappear. Damn it. He’ll probably never see you again. You were so pretty and so cute, too cute even-
“You’re such a virgin.”
His thoughts about you are abruptly dissipated by his coworker and unfortunately best friend, Choi Beomgyu who gives him the stupidest, most annoying grin he would definitely like to slap off his face right now.
“Just shut up.” Soobin grimaces and rolls his eyes at beomgyu, bringing a batch of freshly baked cookies out of the oven behind him and placing them into the display glass one by one.
"You’re pinker than the strawberry macarons we sell. That's saying something." Beomgyu raises an eyebrow at him with sass.
So does that mean you could see how flustered he was getting then? Oh no! Soobin clears his throat and narrows his eyes at beomgyu anyway. “Am not.”
“Are too! Anyway, all I’m saying is that interaction was painful to watch. You’re really giving pathetic, loser, virgin right now. I cant lie.” Beomgyu attempts to stifle in one of his obnoxious laughs.
Soobin is quick to snap back, "You've only ever slept with one person!"
"S-so!! At least im not a virgin!" Beomgyu’s cheeks also become the equivalent to the strawberry macarons as he scrambles to try and defend himself, brows furrowed and cheeks puffed.
“Well, the concept of a virgin is purely societal anyway. It doesn’t actually matter. It doesn’t mean anything really.” Soobin bitterly replies, continuing to work whilst his counterpart does completely nothing like most of the time. It's usually soobin that does work, remind him not to agree to beomyu's silly ideas of getting a job together ever again.
Beomgyu scoffs and snickers at this, "Whatever. You’re just saying all that to make yourself feel better because you’re a loser. LMAO"
"I’ll punch you right now."
"Then we'll both be fired~”
A poor customer still awaits at the counter to be served, standing in bewilderment and tiredness. Waiting for the two bakers to finish bickering and sighing as they don’t seem like they’re going to stop anytime soon.
Tumblr media
Soobin doesn’t expect to see you again, in complete honesty, he’s almost forgotten you even exist after you never come again. But he’s in luck and more than pleasantly surprised when he hears the bell to the door go ding!, indicating a customer had walked in. He looks up from the cake he was decorating and in comes you looking cuter than the first time he saw you. He tries not to mess up the cake and he stands up straight almost instantly when he sees you, waiting for you to order and trying to remain calm.
You laugh and point at his cute nose when you come up to the counter. “You have like, icing all on your nose.”
“O-oh. I do?” He points at himself and you nod in reply. He feels himself going redder by the minute. He must look so stupid right now! And he urgently brings his sleeve up and tries to wipe the icing off his nose to not make himself look an even more of a complete fool in front of you .
“Ah wait no. Let me do it!” You lean over the counter as you see him struggling and wipe it off the top of his cute bunny like nose instead for him.
And that was the end of soobin. The end.
-
You become a regular at the bakery and soobin becomes a regular of embarrassing the absolute shit out of himself each time he sees you. He really doesn’t think he can top the previous comedic disaster that occurs when you enter, yet he always proves himself wrong, the awkwardness reaching new heights each time. From dropping trays of pastries, spilling drinks, nearly slipping in front of you, giving you a ₩50000 note when it was only ₩5000 change, the list goes on and on. He’s actually surprised he hasn’t lost his job yet.
And there’s also always a disappointed beomgyu shaking his head afterwards ready to make fun of him when Soobin promises to make a move but freezes every time you’re in sight, too much of a pussy.
“I’m calling an intervention.” Beomgyu declares and sighs after the nth time of soobin making absolutely no moves on you whatsoever, “Soobin, my man, my bro, you desperately need to get banged. It’s painful seeing the way you act. Your little crush is not gonna like you with the way you act. That’s it. We’re going clubbing tonight after this shift. No buts.”
“But-”
“I said no buts!”
“You know I hate clubbing.”
“You’ve never even been with me despite my constant pleads.” Beomgyu shakes his head and makes a dramatic pained face at his way.
“So? I know I’ll hate it.”
“You’re such a hater bro.”
“Yes I am. And I take pride in it. I’m a hater of everything.”
Beomgyu just sighs. He was utterly hopeless.
Unfortunately, there was no way Soobin could get out of this because beomgyu was having absolutely none of his protests and excuses and that’s how he ends up finding himself at the club anyway after his shift, sitting off to the side as he watches beomgyu disappear somewhere into the crowd. Soobin sighs as he downs his jack and coke. This was going to be a long fucking night.
-
In the dimly lit club, soobin’s discomfort was palpable, like a fish out of water and you noticed instantly upon arrival. It’s that cute tall baker boy who always serves you! You excitedly make your way and sit next to him, he looked a little lonely. “Hey! You work at that bakery on campus. I go there!”
Soobin’s eyes nearly fall out of his sockets at the sight of you sitting next to him and he nearly chokes on his drink as he splutters on his straw and nods. Act calm, act calm, act calm, act calm. Act cool and mysterious.
It’s you! You’re speaking to him?!
“So…these things not really your scene, huh?”
“Gee. How did you ever notice?” Soobin attempts to smile and joke with dry humour but it executes a little more awkward and nervous than how he would have liked.
You also try to carry on the conversation since this is the first time you’ve got to ever actually talk to the cute boy before. “I’m very intuitive. I can just sense things like that.”
He laughs at that too, feeling a bit more comfortable around you now. “No but yeah, I’d much rather be at home right now sleeping. Can’t say I’m much of an advocate for getting stupidly drunk with sweaty people you don’t even know with terrible rave music and flashing lights that should have an epilepsy warning”
“I get it.” You chuckle at how passionate he gets talking about how much he hates clubbing, frown on his cute face. “So why are you here then?”
“Friend wanted me to. Said I needed to finally get laid or whatever.” Soobin rolls his eyes and sips on his drink again, motioning his head to the direction of beomgyu on the dance floor, clearly drunk off his ass now.
“Oh, you’re a Virgin?”
Soobin’s ears go red when he realises what he said to you. “O-oh um y-yeah I guess…”
“Are you waiting for like marriage or the right person or something?” You question, genuinely surprised. He was tall and very attractive and it was rare for college boys to not hook up every single night these days.
“God no. Just never happened. I don’t really care for things like that. It’s probably overhyped anyway and doesn’t even feel that good. Like porn is highly unrealistic anyway.”
“You think so?” You chuckle at him and he nods, continuing to cutely sip on his drink with his straw. “Well maybe you should to try it out first and see for yourself.” Your words start to become a little flirty as you grow more confident talking with him and also because of the alcohol making you slightly tipsy now. “Sorry, but do you want to get out of here?”
“Yes please.” Soobin’s eyes widen even more at your suggestion and he’s more than happy to get out of here with you especially.
“Umm your friend is a bit….out of it right now.” You watch beomgyu drunk from afar, whipping his long hair back and forth claiming to everyone around he’ll be able to do it fast enough to lift off his feet and fly like a helicopter.
“He’ll be…he’ll be fine I’m sure”
Tumblr media
Soobin has no idea what good stuff he must have done in his past life to get to this moment right now, in your room, making out with you, in your bed. Did he mention making out? With you?! The customer he’s been crushing on for months?! Holy, he might hyperventilate right now. It all feels like a dream. Is this real right now?
You cup his cheek and move into his lap, continuing to move your lips against his and soobin’s ears and face are all flushed, breathing loud of enough for you to hear and he looks all nervous and a little shaky.
You stop kissing him but he chases after your lips still and you stroke his cheek, “Are you okay Soobin?”
He’s only able to nod, lips parted and eyes all glazed over. He’s so out of it just from making out with you it’s crazy. But so cute too.
“C-can you…can we…just want…”
“What do you want, baby?” You chuckle and stroke his cheek as he manages to utter some words. The petname only makes his head go even more haywire.
“W-want you…”
“What do you want me to do?” You giggle and coo at him.
He shyly shows you the boner he’s had this entire time. You can’t believe he got a boner just from some kissing. “Can you-will you touch me…please? Need it…” He pleads at you nervously, so red in the face.
“Are you sure?”
He nods his head exceptionally fast and you begin to unbuckle his jeans as he watches you take his flushed and hard dick out, breathing only becoming heavier. Damn, you didn’t think he’d be that big.
You take him into your hands and his mouth his already agape, gasping when you slowly start to stroke him.
You pump his big cock at a steady pace so as not to overwhelm him too much, though twisting and thumbing at the tip occasionally that has him drooling at the corner of his mouth and beads of precum dribbling out heavily from his cock. It’s endearing how far gone he is just at you stroking his dick slow, shy whimpers and other noises eliciting from his mouth.
You unbutton you shirt with your other hand as you continue to pump him and his eyes go crazed at the sight of your tits, you guiding his own big inexperienced hands to grope at them and he does, slumping his head into your neck and shoulder moaning into it and still groping and squeezing at your tits.
With a sudden yelp you feel Soobin’s cum spurt up and leak into your hands, his eyes rolling back as he whimpers continuously from his premature orgasm.
He doesn’t lift his head from your shoulder yet, too embarrassed to face you but he eventually does, eyes still half lidded, trying to catch his breath and he’s hard again. “W-will you fuck me? Please please please. Wanna feel it, wanna feel you, please?” He practically begs, still panting out.
“Are you really sure, Soobin? With me?”
“Yes please! Only want you.”
You study his face for any hesitancy but it’s clear he’s so set on wanting you to fuck him. So you wrap your hands around both his wrists and bring him to lay down on your pillows instead, you still straddling his lap.
When you’ve undressed your lower half, you bring his dick and slide it over your entrance a few times, he moans out loud, hands coming up shyly to cover his face and then you sink down incredibly slowly on his massive length . Soobin’s jaw drops and breath hitches at the feeling of his dick finally in your warm pussy, a strangled moan ripping out of him. He could seriously cum just from being in you right now, but he tries so hard not to or you’ll be disappointed and he doesn’t want to see you disappointed or embarrass himself even more.
“You good, baby?”
“M’ f-fine. Just-Just need a minute.” Soobin shakes out.
You take his hands away from his face and lean down to softly kiss him instead, trying to calm him down and he effuses into your mouth, kissing back passionately with his eyes closed.
“I’m ready now…” He pulls away after a while and looks you in the eyes.
So you start to slowly move, riding him, going up and down on his virgin dick. Soobin’s mouth hangs open in endless moans and gasps and whimpers, face buried into your pillow to the side and his hair all messy now. Whole body flushed and shaking underneath you.
“Better than you thought, baby?” You grunt out, bouncing on top of his cock.
“So much better. O-oh my god, f-fuck…ah!” So maybe sex wasn’t overhyped after all. Because goddamn, you feel so fucking good. Maybe it was just you. But Soobin truly feels like he’s gliding on fluffy clouds right now. All the times he’s touched himself not even coming close to how he feels right now stuffed in your pussy as you fuck him, watching mesmerised as your tits bounce with each movement. He could die here right now in full contentment. Oh how he was so wrong.
It’s not long at all before Soobin can’t hold it anymore. His hips bucking up and breath hitching as a loud strangled mewl tumbles out of his mouth and you feel hot cum fill you up suddenly that makes you still your movements on him. He lets out a long slurred groan and then goes limp beneath you, eyes closing shut and open as he fades from conscious to not every now and then. Is he really that fucked out?
After a while, he finally somewhat recovers and comes back to you from his high, still panting out and chest rising up and down. He looks up at you with a small shy smile on his lips, arm thrown over his forehead.
“You know I literally only go to the bakery because of how cute and silly you are and how you always make a mess of yourself whenever I walk in” You chuckle and admit, drawing shapes into his chest.
“W-wait you knew I liked you?” Soobin asks, shocked and feeling embarrassed again.
You laugh, “Come on, you made it rather obvious.”

I love how Paul's character in The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals is defined entirely by a lack of desire, or desire defined only as 'not what I don't want'. "What Do You Want, Paul?" is a big joke about what a terrible narrative protagonist he is. But it's deeper than that. Throughout the show, even in the smallest, most insignificant phrasing, this man only ever expresses wants in these negative forms, as if he's incapable of feeling attraction in itself rather than simply avoiding what he dislikes. And only avoiding! He never says that he hates anything, either! That would give him passion, drive, perhaps the goal of actively removing that thing. No, he exclusively uses the verb hate in past tense.
He doesn't like musicals, singing, dancing or public performances. He makes this very clear, to the point that it's one of his most significant character traits. At no point does he ever talk about liking any media.
He doesn't want to do social activities.
He doesn't want to give away his money. About both this and the above, he can provide no logical explanation or moral justification. He just doesn't feel like them.
He always gets black coffee because it has "no cream, no sugar, nothing in it"; that is to say, he might not necessarily love it, merely prefer it over its sweeter or more complex alternatives.
He doesn't believe that Emma should have to sing and dance at work - he doesn't want her life to be so unfair and annoying to the both of them.
He doesn't want to obstruct the workings of his office (saying "that's the last thing I want" triggers "What Do You Want, Paul?").
He says, "I wanna go home!" when Mr Davidson is singing at him, but means that he wants to be somewhere safe and not stuck in this incredibly uncomfortable situation.
He doesn't want to die.
He specifically doesn't want to die in Clivesdale, because fuck Clivesdale.
He doesn't want to join the Hive.
He doesn't want to leave Hatchetfield, even when it's the site of an alien invasion that is his personal worst nightmare. He actually says that "All things considered, I like Hatchetfield", arguably an exception to the standard. However, he's also well aware of the town's flaws and problems. He grew up one of its poorer residents, attending the inferior, underfunded Sycamore High School where he casually admits the students "hated [themselves]" and having to watch its more respectable rival Hatchetfield High's school play. He has no strong investment in his tedious middle-class office job. He doesn't get along with some of his fellow townsfolk, like his coworker Ted and all the employees of Beanies except Emma. He awkwardly evades giving to charity and the homeless every morning on his way to work. His life is decidedly not one of utter bliss, and yet it's good enough for him in that he doesn't have the energy, ambition or imagination to want anything more. Since he's "been here [his] whole life", his affection for his hometown could be more an aversion to everywhere else or the hassle of travelling. Sticking with the devil he intimately knows.
He doesn't think badly of Emma, and says so because he doesn't want her to or believe that he does after learning that she helped make a "hated" experience of his happen.
He doesn't want to let Bill die, which is why he goes with Bill to rescue Alice. His heroism and proactiveness at the turning point of the end of Act One start to notably erode his apathy, but his phrasing reaffirms his negative motivations: "Hey, it's not like you're asking me to go see Mama Mia!", "Emma, there comes a time in every man's life when he has to draw a line in the sand. And I will never be in a fucking musical."
He doesn’t want Bill to blame himself for Alice's endangerment, stay in the area once Alice is revealed to be a vessel of the Hive or kill himself.
He doesn't want to do some light reading on the universal truth of love and the strength of the human heart.
He has no positive motivation. He breaks one of the most basic rules of being a fictional character, let alone the main character the audience is supposed to root for. He isn't just an antihero, he's an anti-protagonist. Although this could easily make him boring or unsympathetic, he manages to seem relatable. Real. Human. He captures so genuinely an ordinary person living an ordinary life suddenly trapped in a horror story. How many of can honestly articulate "one concrete goal that motivates all [our] actions"? Even if you can, you wouldn't undergo a narratively fulfilling and thematically cohesive arc related to that desire the way a fictional character would. We're all essentially just trying to survive each day. To make or keep our lives however we define 'good enough'. We may not have a crystal clear picture of our ideal life, but I bet we all have a long list of things we don't want in it. We're all Paul.
What more appropriate antagonist for this man to face, then, than a force that exists to strip people of their autonomy, their individuality, their personhood, and force them to play archetypical characters in a conventional narrative? The Hive observes that Paul is an anti-protagonist and takes offence to this. It seeks to convert him into his antithesis, the "bold" "leading man" of its musical who the audience can "sympathize with". The Infected highlight this in the opening song, in which they eagerly anticipate and prepare the audience for his entrance... and he misses his cue. He isn't following their script. Perhaps that's why the audience is able to believe in this average, unassuming antihero's potential to succeed, to defeat the Hive or at the very least escape it, despite how fraught and grim the situation becomes. The story certainly proves itself to be cruel to its characters; but Paul doesn't operate like a normal character. The Hive promises to fulfil people's desires and make them happy throughout the play. Charlotte, Bill, Hidgens and Ted's deaths are connected to, either in direct causality or thematic relevance, their respective desires for Sam's love, Alice's safety, world peace (and the glory of a musical career) and Ted's own survival. Paul is uniquely immune to this pattern of death related to a core motivation.
Until:
"I can't leave without Emma”, “a friend of mine."
"Is there a chance of something more?"
"I think so. I'd like there to be. I want there to be."
He wants Emma, her life and her happiness and maybe, just maybe, her love. He wants to love her. To spend time with her. For the first time ever, he wants more out of life, not less. He's a little bit more of a character. After the Infected reprise the "Did you hear the word?" section of the opening song, building up to his appearance, this time he does enter the theatre, coming down the aisle just as he was meant to. Right on cue. Paul is now vulnerable to the narrative - the Hive's narrative. And the Hive's control.
Still he resists, even while doubting if he was ever really happy before. Not only does he use his final words, fittingly, to declare that he doesn't like musicals, but before that he firmly refutes the Hive, and the philosophy behind it and all the pressures and temptatations it might represent: "It doesn't matter what I want." What matters is the good of the world. Emma. Love. Hope. Freedom. Integrity. Humanity, which must be wonderful if we can make sacrifices like this for all the right reasons.
Rest in peace, Paul Matthews. You were the opposite of a conventional protagonist, but a true hero.

Werewolf Au! Jungkook x Reader / Enemies to Lovers [Angst and mature content. Not smut but almost smut.]
Summary: Jungkook finally found her. His mate. His lifelong partner. But she’s a human. Does he have to stay with her or can he stick it to whatever and whoever binds mates together and make his own decision? ***THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PATIENCE. I PROMISE I WON'T MAKE YOU WAIT THIS LONG AGAIN***
Chapter 1 / Chapter 2 / Chapter 3 / Chapter 4 / Chapter 5
You rang in the new year with some coworkers. The night was a blur of lights, laughter and music. Despite being a lightweight, you didn’t get as drunk as you thought, in fact, you were barely tipsy. It was hard to have fun when your reality didn’t even feel real. You had all the ingredients to drink your heart out: you met who was supposed to be your soulmate, you find out that mythical creatures are real and your best friend in the whole world has been hiding all of this from you for a year. To add more salt to the wound, Jennie spent Christmas and New Years with the pack. Sad wasn’t quite the right word for how you felt, maybe confused or disoriented? You had been in a haze since the last time you saw everyone trying to figure out if the past weeks were real or not.
After Jungkook dropped you back off at the cabin, Namjoon decided that you should leave for your safety. Apparently having someone as unpredictable as Jungkook free from his chains while his mate was hanging out with other men was not a good idea even after you told Namjoon that Jungkook actually saved your life. Namjoon took you home that night and advised you to keep your distance for a while. He seemed sad when he dropped you off and truth be told, you were kind of sad too. You had a fondness for Namjoon because he was the one that made you feel sane and safe throughout this whole journey. You would miss your friendship with him and everyone else.
Your phone pinged, reeling you out of your thoughts. You thew it towards the edge of your bed when you saw that it was just one of those annoying marketing texts. Your eyes then glided towards the Christmas card on your nightstand as it did almost everyday; it was the one artifact you had proving that everything you went through was real. Everyone from the pack had signed the card, all except for one. You reached for the card and ran your fingertips over the glitter covered snowman on the front page. I wonder how he’s doing. Embarrassed didn’t even begin to explain how you felt. You felt like a fool, an actual idiot for still wondering about Jungkook’s wellbeing when he couldn’t even write his name on a stupid Christmas card for you-he probably laughed when Namjoon asked him to contribute. With one last read through of the card, you placed it under your bed and made never thinking about Jungkook again as your new year’s resolution.
__________________________________
Maybe because there was no one to talk to about your new year’s resolution in full but getting over Jungkook was pretty easy. You hadn’t spoken to anyone in the pack in over a month and the memories of them become less and less clear by the day. Was it Jin that helped you with your injuries or Yoongi? Was it Namjoon that drove you home or did Hoseok tag along also? And did you actually feel sparks when Jungkook touched you or was it just your imagination? Either way, it felt good to feel less crazy. It was only when you and Jennie hung out that everything would hit you like a freight train. Seeing her was bittersweet. You were so happy to spend time with your best friend despite your guys’ schedule but you couldn’t help this building of resentment in your chest at the same time. Anger and guilt gnawed at you so raw that replying to her texts took hours to do. Luckily, both of you were so busy with work that seeing each other was few and far between.
One thing you had a really hard time forgetting was the night you had to leave. After Jungkook asked you to wait, you sat by his side and watched him catch his breath. It was hard seeing someone in so much pain despite the lack of physical wounds. Once Jungkook seemed to have a grip on himself, he told you to sit as far away from him as possible while he sat on the other side of the cabin. You remembered feeling like you were naked under his red gaze, like he could see every single movement you made. Jungkook told you that it wasn’t safe for you to leave yet and that you had to wait for a little bit. Unbeknownst to you, Jungkook couldn’t have you leave just yet. A wolf in the midst of his heat finally meeting his mate after being kept away from them was like a ticking time bomb. Jungkook needed to engulf your scent and calm his mind before letting you go back to a cabin full of fully grown men. He was surprised that you complied and that you kept your composure. Sure, he noticed your trembling hands and shortness of breath but you kept calm and collected. Jungkook needed to direct his attention to something else-anything- and so the small talk began. It started off with what you did for work and ended with Jungkook shit talking his pack mates. When Jungkook felt sane enough, he insisted he carry you home to be safe. You remember flinching when a low growl escaped from Jungkook when you hooked your arms around his neck. You felt his body shake as you wrapped your legs around his waist. It took a minute before he was able to hoist you up and get going. You remembered him being gentle and asking if you were all right the whole way back to the cabin. You remembered him letting you down a couple meters in front of the cabin because Namjoon would’ve killed him if he saw Jungkook and you together.
“Are you going to be okay?” you asked.
Jungkook offered you a nod, his bright red eyes doing the soft smile on his face an injustice. Perhaps it was the darkness playing tricks on your eyesight but Jungkook looked bigger. His muscles were more toned, his hair was thicker and his overall aura was just larger. You felt embarrassed drooling over his physique like some school girl despite almost dying a couple hours ago. Namjoon’s voice from inside the cabin redirected your guys’ attention and you suddenly remembered that it was below freezing outside.
“I-I’m going to go inside now,” you reached out your hand to give Jungkook’s arm a reassuring squeeze but retracted remembering how much he ordered you to not touch him, “goodnight.”
To your surprise, Jungkook reached out instead and caressed your face with both his hands. You closed your eyes and leaned into his touch pathetically. Jungkook left out an exhale of both relief and frustration. Every ounce of control he had was quickly slipping through his fingers. He was teetering towards the edge of danger with you right now. You opened your eyes to see Jungkook watching you but not like he did before. Just a couple of hours ago, you felt like a prey under his gaze. This time, he was looking at you like how Taehyung looked at Jennie.
“Do me a favor?” he asked, his voice almost hoarse.
You nodded and scrunched your eyebrows. What could you possibly do for him? Jungkook felt his stomach drop knowing what he was going to ask of you. The warmth that happened when you guys touched intensified as Jungkook brought your body closer to his. He knew he only had a couple minutes to relish your touch before his heat and his reality would take over again.
“I need you to forget about this night,” he finally said. Although subtle, he felt your pressure lift from his hands. “I need you to forget about me, about my pack, about everything. Make it like I never even existed, and I’ll do the same. Trust me, it’s for the best.”
As cruel as his words already were, Jungkook then sealed it by pressing his lips against yours. You couldn’t help but gasp which, he happily swallowed. A surge of electricity pulsed through you as he deepened the kiss. The heat from his body immediately making you forget how cold it was. As gentle as he was, you remembered his body began to tremble and the slight sting against your bottom lip when his fangs unsheathed.
And that was all you wanted to remember. Perhaps you were a masochist. Of all the memories you chose to forget, you just couldn’t let go of this particular one; no one ever really completes their new year’s resolution anyways. You knew you would never get an answer but it didn’t matter anymore. Every time Jennie saw you, she'd try to ask about Jungkook but you would either change the subject or give her vague answers. You didn't want to know more than you already did.
“Goodnight, Sooyoung!” you chimed.
“Goodnight,” Sooyoung replied with a sympathetic smile, “you should leave soon.”
“I will!” you lied, “see you tomorrow morning.”
Sooyoung hovered by your desk for a few more seconds before heading towards the elevator. It was common for you to stay after work but not for this long. You waved at Sooyoung until the elevator doors finally closed. When you were certain that there was no one else in the office, you closed the document you were pretending to work on and slumped against your chair. A tired sigh left your mouth as you roughly ran your hands against your face. Just as you were accepting your new reality, the past week and a half had you re-questioning your sanity. Being at home recently felt eerie. You were constantly checking over your shoulder and hesitant to sleep with your bedroom door closed. The nightmares you were having didn’t help either. Night after night, you would see the same things in your dream: rogue wolves chasing you and a Jungkook bleeding out to top it off. You’d jolt awake in the middle of the night and could only fall back asleep after taking melatonin. With the nightmares being a daily occurrence, the melatonin had stopped taking effect and you were left trying to calm your racing heart on your own. To your disdain, the only place you felt safe was at work. Your office was high up on the 25th floor and security here was pretty strict. You concluded that your paranoia was from these nightmares but those moments when you felt like someone was watching you felt too real to blame on lack of sleep. You put your head down against your desk and stared at the time displayed on your computer. It was nearing 7:45 and you promised yourself that you’d leave at 8pm. As the minutes ticked by, you tried to come up with some sort of game plan to combat another inevitable sleepless night.
____________________________________
“Jungkook!” Taehyung shouted as he kicked over a half conscious rogue towards Jungkook.
Jungkook caught it mid air and slammed it down onto the ground before ripping its head off. With that being the last rogue, Jungkook and pack were able to finally catch their breath as they examined the graveyard of torn limbs by their feet.
“Where the fuck are they coming from?” Hoseok panted.
Namjoons eyes wavered as he studied the carcasses on the ground. He had no answer for Hoseok. Rogue wolves attack here and there but never had he seen such great numbers. Their appearance usually coincided with the phases of the moon but recently, their attacks had been random and in hoards. He did notice that they foolishly always went for Jungkook first. As strong as Jungkook was, he was not invincible. Namjoon had also taken note of how haggard and tired his pack was from fighting almost everyday. If they didn't find an answer anytime soon, he feared that he would lose a pack member.
Everyone turned their head towards the trees when they heard a branch snap. In the distance, Jungkook caught a flash of white teeth and familiar pitch black eyes.
“I got it!” Jungkook shouted, before running after the rogue.
He was fucking exhausted. He really hoped that this was the last one because he was losing strength and fast. These recent attacks only fuelled his anger because if he had mated with someone of his species, he would’ve tripled in strength by now.
A yelp emitted from the rogue when Jungkook finally caught up and grabbed its legs. Jungkook swung the rogue against a tree, breaking its ribs in the process. As the creature whimpered against the ground, Jungkook winced when he saw that it was laughing.
“What’s so funny?” Jungkook sneered, angry that it was still breathing.
The creature seemed to be mumbling a familiar word over and over again but Jungkook couldn’t figure out what it was saying. Another yelp came out from the rogue as Jungkook kicked its face in. He crouched down and grabbed the creature by its scruff.
“Speak up!” He demanded.
Despite his impressive experience fighting rogues, Jungkook still had a hard time getting used to the disturbing ways these creatures moved and laughed even though they were near death. This rogue had its jaw kicked in and its tongue was hanging out due to the lack of the bottom half of its face. The grip Jungkook had on it tightened when it continued mumbling. Just as he was about to lose his patience trying to unscramble the creatures jargon, Jungkook finally put together what it was mumbling. The rogue seemed to notice the shift in Jungkook’s eyes and laughed even louder.
“I bet she’d taste so good too.” were its last words before Jungkook ripped out its heart.
Jungkook had to get back to Namjoon and let him know what happened.
It was mumbling your name this whole time.
The living room was quiet as the pack tended to their wounds. Jin went around ensuring that everyone was treating their injuries correctly even if it was just a little scratch.
"You need to clean it." Jin sighed, looking at the deep cut on Jungkook's forearm. The cut was his own fault. As Jungkook was ripping the rogues heart out, his arm got caught in the creatures ribs and it carved his arm as he was pulling it out of its chest.
"Just leave it, Jin." Jungkook grumbled, swatting Jin's worried hands away.
Namjoon and Jin exchanged glances, both annoyed and worried about the youngest member but Namjoon didn't have time to adhere to Jungkook's attitude. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt but who knew when the rogues would come back to attack again.
"So," Yoongi said, sucking his teeth in the process, "anyone here knows what they want?"
Jungkook wanted to hear his members theories before jumping the gun because maybe the rogue was toying with Jungkook or maybe it wasn't even saying your name at all. The silence that followed confirmed Jungkook's fear. No matter what Jungkook did, he just couldn't seem to get away from you. All eyes were on Jungkook when he suddenly cursed.
"They're after her." Jungkook said, his fingers pinching his nose bridge.
"Who?" Jimin asked.
"His mate." Taehyung's grin only grew when Jungkook glared at him.
Amidst Jimin's surprise and the symphony of swear words thrown back and forth between the members, Namjoon felt his heart sink as a wave of deja vu hit him. The younger one failed to notice the sadness in the leaders eyes as he berated his pack mates who were teasing him with swear words.
"They're not after her," Namjoon finally spoke, breaking the fight, "Jungkook, they're after you and then her. They know that you'd go after them if they kill her before you mark her. They're after you first to get you out of the picture. As long as she's unmated, they're going to keep coming."
Namjoon felt a lump grow in his throat as realization washed over each member. All eyes slowly turned towards Jungkook who had his fists balled up. The pressure from his fists made his blood seep out from the cut on his forearm. Why did he have to deal with this? How come you were still intertwined with him despite being away for over a month? What did he have to fucking do to get rid of you for good?
"T-this could be different, Namjoon." Jungkook stammered, his mind moving too quick for his mouth to catch up.
"Jungkook listen to me," Namjoon said picking his words carefully as he approached Jungkook, "only you can stop this. We can't fend them off forever."
Jungkook grit his teeth and felt his breath labour. This wasn't fair. He didn't choose this and it seemed like life wasn't planning on giving him too many options either. Jungkook began to replay the conversation he had with Namjoon after he first discovered you. The blood from Jungkook's cut was now staining his pants as he remembered what Namjoon said about how strong humans were. What a fucking joke.
"I am stopping this! Who here in this room has killed more rogues than me? Huh? Who?!" Jungkook bursted.
Jungkook's brown eyes had now turned into a dark red shade.
"Killing them one will send ten. Killing ten will send a hundred. Killing a hundred will send a thousand. You have the responsibility to save her life," Namjoon argued tiredly, "look at your brothers. Look at you! We are not immortal, Jungkook."
Jungkook jumped up from his seat and grabbed his hair. His ears were now ringing. His responsibility?! He hadn't even marked you yet, why were you now his responsibility? He couldn't help but laugh aloud by how absurd everything and everyone was sounding. You had stolen what seemed like everything away from him-his freedom, his bodily functions and now even his morals. You kept taking from him and now you were his responsibility?
"Jungkook please," Jin pleaded, "can you please put your own ego aside and make a good choice for once in your life?"
Jungkook turned towards Jin and snarled, "Remind me who saved your fucking life just 20 minutes ago? If I hadn't ran to you in time, you would've been shredd-"
"Enough!" Namjoon yelled, "Whether you like it or not, her life is in your hand-"
"I will not be responsible for her death like you were for Irene!"
Within a second, Jungkook was slammed against the wall. His right cheek was throbbing and his nose bloodied. He wasn't sure if he had finished his sentence but the right hook from Namjoon answered that question for him. Before Jungkook could orient himself, Namjoon grabbed Jungkook by the neck and trapped him against the wall again.
"You will never utter her name in that context again do you understand?" Namjoon asked through gritted teeth.
Jungkook licked his lower lip, the taste of his own blood filling his mouth as he did.
"Do you understand?!" Namjoon bellowed, shaking Jungkook.
"Y-yes." Jungkook finally answered.
The older one finally let go but not without giving Jungkook one final shove.
"Have a better attitude tomorrow morning or you fend for yourself from now on." Namjoon threatened before disappearing into his study.
Jungkook kept his eyes on the floor as his members stood around staring at him. Jungkook could only count on one hand how many times he felt ashamed in life, he would now have to count on two hands after tonight. His members didn't say a word to him as they retreated back to their rooms one by one. Taehyung lingered for a little bit longer. He wanted to ring Jungkook out but decided to leave him to sulk all alone. Jungkook watched his blood drip from his nose onto his sweater. Would dying by some disgusting creatures be better than surrendering to fate? One thing was for sure, Jungkook would rather die with his brothers than alone. He turned his head towards the end of the hallway where Namjoon's study was. The searing pain from his broken nose was nothing compared to what he just said to Namjoon.
Namjoon had his head buried in his hands as Jungkook's words echoed in his mind. It had been years since Irene's death but it still pained him like it happened yesterday. He knew the younger one was speaking out of anger but if he only knew how much Namjoon did blame himself.
"You know, I couldn't even mourn her after she died. I think I finally did after three months." Namjoon spoke.
Jungkook figured it was probably the smell from all his blood that alerted Namjoon to his presence. He cautiously walked towards Namjoon and sat in front of him.
"Her death was the first out of the two times I ever regretted taking leadership of our pack." Namjoon continued, looking up to meet the younger ones sad gaze.
"And the second?" Jungkook asked, his voice barely audible.
"Tonight." Namjoon replied.
Jungkook let the uncomfortable silence engulf him. He stared at the picture of Irene resting on the bookshelf behind Namjoon and felt remorse like he had never before. Irene was Namjoon's mate. For years, Namjoon refused to mark her not because he didn't want to-because he did-but because he was afraid of bringing Irene in his world. He thought the best way to protect her was to keep her away. Jungkook had never seen someone love another person the way Namjoon loved Irene. He doted on her and gave her anything she ever wanted, everything except for one. Irene had begged and begged Namjoon to make her his official mate but he always rejected her advances. By the time Namjoon decided to turn a new leaf, it was too late. If Namjoon had marked her, he would've been stronger and maybe could've fought off the pack of rogues. That day, Jungkook and the pack were out hunting. When they came back, the cabin they had built had been ripped apart. The image of Namjoon carrying Irene's bloody body in his arms as he wept and called out her name was forever imprinted in Jungkook's brain. Namjoon's physical state was no better and if they hadn't returned when they did, they would've lost their leader too. Irene was one of the strongest people Jungkook knew. She was brave, unwavering and quick witted. Before Jin met Mina, it was Irene nursing everyone back to health after a fight and braving the forest to find medicine. Irene was strong and she was human.
"I'm really sorry. I didn't mean what I said and I shouldn't have said that," Jungkook apologized tearing his eyes away from Irene, "I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you."
Namjoon smiled. Although brash and somewhat arrogant, Jungkook always meant well at the end of the day. He couldn't even count how many brawls Jungkook got into because someone slightly badmouthed a member of the pack.
"Please, your life will probably end in the next few minutes with the amount of blood you're losing. Just let me punch the other side of your face and we can call it even." Namjoon joked.
Jungkook scoffed and wiped his nose. He really was losing a lot of blood.
"Jungkook, I couldn't save Irene but you have a chance here. Learning to love someone...don't you think that's better than losing someone," Namjoon wanted to laugh when he saw Jungkook flinch at the word 'love', "and if you can't do it for her, do it for me. For Irene."
Jungkook swallowed the lump in his throat, "I-I don't know if I can mark her right away, you have to give me some time."
Namjoon nodded understandingly.
"But I promise," Jungkook sucked in a breath, "I'll protect her with my life."

So… when people go to Starbucks, they sometimes use celebrity names, right? I saw this post on Pinterest (one of those older Tumblr screenshots) and this person said their name was Tony Stark and they ran into someone who called themselves Bruce Wayne. So that happens, right?
Okay, so, imagine you're working as a barista at some place and you get so many people telling you their name is a pro hero name. The amount of Dekus you have served this week is off the charts and you had no idea Shoto could shape shift into forty different people. In all honesty, though, it's funny and kinda the highlight of your week.
This one day, someone comes in and they tell you there name is Dynamight. Not only does the shy smile on his face tell you, no, it's not Dynamight, but like literally everything else does too. Okay, normal. You place the order and then take the next person in line. This person is also Dynamight. This has happened before and, to prevent confusion, you dub this person Dynamight 1.
The next customer is a stoic man by the name David. The two of you connect eyes, both inwardly laughing at the funny little encounter that just transpired. David is dubbed nice David, a name you mumble and the stoic man hums with joy, you think.
Anyway, after David is—well, a large, intimating man which wild ash-blond hair and sharp crimson eyes which are enhanced by his dark mask. You blink up at him, shocked for a moment before your eyes flicker to Nice David. You both share a look of shock before evil grins appear in your eyes.
Then Dynamight orders and you take his order professionally, not gushing or fan-girling—and not breaking down into a fit of laughter despite so badly wanting to. He gives you his name, a gruff “Dynamight,“ and you bite your cheek.
You take your sharpie—you've chosen orange for obvious reasons—and your write what some may consider your final words. You're optimistic and consider it funny. “Dynamight 2,“ you mumble and the man snaps his head around with such a bizzare, pissed off look you can't stop the laugh. You tried, which turned it into a snort and the rage in his eyes exploded (heh) at the sound. You hid behind the empty coffee cup, pinching your lips together as laughter prodded at your chest.
“The hell did you just say? You think that shit is funny?!“
You did. Then you realized he probably thought you were making fun of his recent drop from number one hero to number two. He was bitter about that, it was no secret. You cleared your throat, back to looking at Dynamight with your professional facade. “Sorry sir, it's just that,“ you paused, sharing a look with Nice David.
“Spit it out,“ the inpatient hero demanded.
You looked back it him, clearing your throat again as a laugh threatened to ruin everything. You laughed when you here nervous and it didn't help that you always found Dynamight's reactions amusing. But you had to keep it together, for the other, no doubt, embarrassed Dynamights in the room. “Well, I'm sorry to say, but Dynamight and Dynamight 1 have already been taken.“
“What?“
It was so short, so curt, and so blunt you almost laughed again. You saw the other two Dynamights flinch and you wanted to scream. What were the odds the real deal would come into the little cafe the same time as two of his fans? Ah, if you were them you'd be too embarrassed to get your coffee. But, since you weren't them, well, you were there to enjoy the comedy gold.
Back to Dynamight 2. The man still awaited an explanation, far too confused to be annoyed at your lack of action. You looked at the two other Dynamights who's eyes were glued to the floor. You looked at your coworkers, all of which were hiding smiles by showing their backs to the giant pro—busying themselves with work. You looked at Kind Dave, both agreeing this was one of—nay, the BEST thing to ever happen in your lives. You looked at Dynamight 2, a man so lost and so confused, so unsure of his identity.
“If you would like, I can use a different name.“
“Huh?“ That snapped him back to the present. “Hell no, I'm Dynamight!“
“Yes.“
“So use Dynamight!“
“It's already been used—“ “Then swap them!“
“I can't. That would just confuse the team—“ “Then I should be Dynamight 1!“
“That's already been taken.“
“Just change it from Dynamight 2, dammit!“
“How about Dynamight 3?“
Oh if looks could kill. “Change. It,“ he order slowly, lowly, and most definitely sternly.
You coughed into your hand to hide the laugh. “Alright sir, I'll change it.“
You assumed he was too angry to listen to your new name for him which was his fault actually. He could most certainly not blame you for what was to come because it was he who left you unsupervised and you lived off of the pain of others.
There were no other customers so, you had the honor of handing out drinks. It was with great joy you took that job and you, again with great joy, read the name on the cup out loud. “Dynamight.“
You saw the hero twitch. His scowl deepened and you would've laughed to yourself if you weren't waiting for Dynamight to show up. You looked at the small group, raising a brow when no one came. “Guess he left,“ you mumbled.
One of your coworkers mumbled a response. “I'd leave too.“
You both shared a small snicker.
Then the next order came up. “Dynamight one?“ you asked, fully aware that person has also slipped out.
That meant two free coffees for the team.
Next was “Kind David,“ you announced proudly.
The man, the myth, the legend walked up to your counter and, as the name implied, kindly took the drink from you, giving you a kind nod of thanks. You both shared a look of amusement before he left, giving Dynamight 2 a small nod as he passed.
It was time. You held the large black coffee with a hint of cinnamon and a helping of whipped cream in your hand. Dynamight liked whipped cream, who knew? You didn't look at the cup to read the name. No. You looked straight into Dynamight's narrowed eyes. He began approaching the counter, glare hardening in suspicion. You announced him and he bristled with anger, lip lifting up to reveal his pink gums as he sneered down at you. Such a large man.
“Number two!“ you announced loudly, cheerfully, and joyously.
Boy. You had never seen a face curl up like that. He towered over you and he opened his mouth to give you a pice of his mind. But you beat him to it. You leaned forward, mischievous glint in your eye. “Don't worry,“ you whispered, “you'll always be number one here, hero.“
And it was supposed to be a funny jab, you said it with a teasing look. It was supposed to make him snatch the coffee outta your hands with a glare. But, well, you couldn't control his emotions.
He grabbed the coffee, taking it out of your hand normally. He glared, a comparatively calm glare. “Watch yourself, shorty.“
And you let your mouth drop in a dramatic scoff, about to give his back a piece of your mind, then you see it. You freeze, mouth gaping in actual shock. The back of his neck and the tips of his ears were the slightest bit red. You thought you were seeing things. You rubbed your eye. Oh boy, you were not seeing things.
It was supposed to be a funny jab. You said it with a teasing look. But hey, if Dynamight got all embarrassed, that was fine too. “We'll be rooting for you hero!“ you cheered, again, mildly teasing.
He scoffed but you saw the blush grow on the back of his neck. He sent you one glare over his shoulder and your cat-like grin grew at the pink dusting his upper cheek. Then he left and the cafe was silent before you and your coworkers burst into a series of obnoxious laughs and giggles. You were not giggling, by the way, you were on the floor DYING and wheezing in an ugly, hilarious sort way.
Dynamight was an interesting guy.

“Give me a sec, I need to finish getting dressed.” You said, with only your head in the frame. Your hair was still wet so you must have just gotten out of the shower. He smiled and watched your head disappear, listening to the sound of clothes rustling until you were finally sitting down in front of your computer. “Hi.” You said through a breath of exertion from rushing to get dressed.
“Hi.” He chuckled, but it trailed off when he noticed your top. You were wearing a very tight, very low cut tank top and no bra— He knew because he could just barely see your nipples poking through the fabric.
“How was your day?” You asked and he had to force his gaze to move back to your face, finding a small smile on your lips.
“Same as always. Went to work, came home. Nothing new.” He shrugged. “What about you? You were telling me about something earlier over text,”
“Right..” You groaned, already getting annoyed again at just the reminder of it. “You know that one coworker I hate?”
“Yeah.” He chuckled quietly.
“Well, she was there today.” You said bitterly, then started droning on about what happened. Honestly, he couldn’t listen to a word you were saying. He was watching your tits through the screen as his cock started fattening up in his pants— In his defense though… he hasn’t touched himself in like.. two days. So it’s only natural he’d get worked up so easily— especially because it’s you. He palmed his bulge beneath the camera, being careful not to move his arm too much.
He waited as long as he could… Honestly, he did.
“Hang on, I gotta turn my camera off really quick. I’m still listening though.”
“Okay.” You said, thinking nothing of it. He turned the camera off and you continued talking, gesturing with your hands, making your tits move in a way that had his mouth watering. Unable to wait any longer, he pushed his pants and underwear down just enough to free his cock and immediately started stroking it. His eyes fluttered shut and he bit his lip to stifle a moan as his head fell back.
He was barely listening to your words, just wanting to hear your sweet voice and imagine you were saying something else instead… something far dirtier. Wanting to watch you again, he leaned his head back up and opened his eyes to study your face. Your lips looked so pink and pouty, and so fucking kissable— it drove him crazy.
“Neil..” You called out, snapping him out of his trance.
“Yeah?” He cleared his throat when he heard how raspy it already was.
“I asked if you were listening.” You giggled— fucking giggled.
“Sorry… I promise I am now.” It was so hard to talk with his cock in his hand, throbbing with need.
“Why can’t you turn your camera on?” You suddenly asked, making him freeze. He never thought you’d actually confront him about it…
“I- Uh… I spilled soda all over myself and I’m still trying to clean it up, while being mostly nude… I can turn it back on if you want.” He said suggestively.
“Okay okay, sorry.” You laughed, then continued talking. “Oh- I wanted to show you what I got the other day. It reminded me of you.” You smiled and then stood up, making his jaw drop. The tank top didn’t even reach your belly button and the shorts you were wearing rested low on your hips.
When you turned around, he choked on a moan and squeezed the base of his cock, trying not to come right then and there. No wonder the shorts were so low… If you pulled them up any higher, they’d expose more than just the very bottom of your ass. You must not have heard him because you walked a few more steps to your bookcase, then started looking for the mystery object. His hand had a mind of its own and started stroking again as he watched your hips sway while you looked through different drawers and shelves.
You bent down to look through the bottom half, sticking your ass out as if you were teasing him on purpose. He cursed under his breath when he could just barely see the outline of your pussy in the skin tight shorts. When you leaned back up, the fabric was even higher up on your ass now and when you turned around to walk back to the computer, he saw that your tank top shifted as well, exposing more of your cleavage and the swell of your breasts. They jiggled as you sat back down in the chair.
“Are you sure you’re listening?” He suddenly heard through the trance he was in.
“Mhm.. just keep talking. Promise I’m listening.” He tried not to say the words through a moan.
“Okay…” You said skeptically, but continued anyway. He was enjoying the view of your tits, but he desperately wanted to see your ass again, so he bit his lip and tried to think of a way to get you out of the chair again.
He waited until you were done talking before asking, “Is that thing up there new?” Your brows furrowed and you turned around to see what he was talking about.
“The figurine thing? I guess yeah. You haven’t been over in a while.”
“Can I see it?” You smiled and agreed and he watched you stand up and turn around, only letting you take two steps before stopping you. “Wait,” You froze and turned back around, leaning down into the frame so he could see your face.
“What?” The way you were bent over exposed even more of your tits and he stifled a groan at the sight.
“Nevermind, sorry.” He chuckled, playing it off. You seemed suspicious but eventually leaned back up and turned around to continue walking. You got up on your toes and reached up, making your tank top raise even more, now showing your entire lower back. He imagined seeing that when he had you bent over instead, squirming and moaning under him until he came on the cute little dimples you have.
“I used a stool to get it up here.” You laughed, dropping your heels, making your ass bounce, and twisting around to face the computer.
“It looks like you’re almost there.”
“Really?” You turned back around and looked up, then started reaching again, making little groans of effort that had his cock throbbing.
“Try jumping.”
“Neil, do you have to see it?” You huffed, already getting tired of this. “Can’t you just wait until the next time you come over?”
“But I want to see it now.” He made sure to make his pout show in his tone since you couldn’t see his face. You let out a loud, exaggerated groan in response, but kept trying. The first time you jumped, your fingers almost brushed it. He watched in awe and cursed under his breath at the way your ass moved when you landed. Is that how it would move when he plowed into you from behind?
You jumped again, just barely touching it. When you landed, you pulled your top down, embarrassed by how much of your midriff was showing. Neil muted his computer for a moment, needing to let out the sounds while you couldn’t see that he turned his sound off.
The tip of his cock was completely red now, pulsing and twitching in his hand as he neared his orgasm. He moaned loudly when you jumped again and his hips bucked up into his hand.
“Fuuuck..” He groaned, tilting his head back, but not too far so that he could still see the screen. When you jumped again, you finally grabbed it and he turned the audio back on as you walked over. Just before sitting, you pulled your tank top down again when you noticed how much of your stomach was showing. You didn’t seem to mind that the added coverage on your stomach was at the expense of the coverage on your tits. Or you just didn’t know.
You started talking about the figurine and where you got it, and he let out little uh huh’s or grunts in response. He genuinely had no idea what you were saying, but there wasn’t even a small part of him that cared. You put it down and suddenly stretched your arms up, leaning back in the chair to stretch your back with a low moan.
He felt his balls tighten up instantly and he got to his feet, knowing exactly what he wanted to do. He rapidly fisted his cock as you leaned back up, your top even lower now. With a stifled groan, his orgasm finally crashed over him. Rope after rope of come painted the computer screen, right on your tits.
“Neil?” You asked, but he couldn’t talk, not when his body was literally shaking from the intensity of the pleasure. “Are you okay?” He started panting quietly as he stroked the last bead of come out, then released his cock.
“Yeah.” He said through a breath, flopping back down onto the chair. His cock was still twitching with the aftershocks of his orgasm, especially when he saw your come covered tits though the screen.
“Are you sure?” You were so cute when you got all concerned like this. So cute, but so dumb.
“Promise.”

He's arrogant. Oh so arrogant, and you can't fucking stand it. You watch him every morning as he strides in, past your desk at reception, white button up shirt, clear framed glasses, shaggy hair that falls over his forehead . He's certainly not a hit among the office, so maybe you're not wrong in your feelings. Though your other co-workers generally regard him as a pushover- not a self-absorbed asshole. He's good at what he does, sure. He's earned his spot, but he often brings a shadow into the rooms he walks into. A presence that you can only describe as infernal.
You don’t know much about his story. You generally pride yourself on getting to know the people you surround yourself with, but he has never let you get close enough to find out. Maybe that’s why you find him arrogant. He thinks he’s too good to speak to you for more than two sentences related to files he needs you to fax for him. What you do know about him is that he’s been at KTMJ for longer than you have been- maybe 5 years more. You can still remember the first time you met. You were fresh faced and eager. Seeking validation, in desperate need of some stability.
You extend your arm for a handshake. His hands are slightly clammy as he accepts your handshake. And though you had greeted him with your brightest smile (might as well go all in if you ever wanted to be anything other than a receptionist) he hadn't smiled back. He'd kept a rather straight face as he gave his brief introduction. "Edward."
Now you have a sense of stability. Sure, the quality of life in Gotham is subpar and you still haven't received that promotion, but you make enough to live comfortably in comparison to others in the city. You try to count your blessings.
━━━━
You had already been having a shitty day. Your landlord had informed you of an increase in rent rates by slipping an envelope under your door. Sure, it sucked to be asked to pay more for an apartment that could be deemed shitty by any normal person with a pair of eyes, but it was the lack of communication that got you. Not even the decency to call your residence and tell you with their own voice. Just a slip of paper under the door.
But you tried to bring a good attitude to the office. You hate being the one to damper the mood. You would rather leave that to him. Always him. Never smiling back at you as he walks through the door, never meeting your eyes to acknowledge your presence, nothing. And you were used to that. It would be okay, if it weren't for the stack of papers that laid on your desk when you got in. Neatly stacked with a green sticky note reading "Need copies. -Edward" scrawled in messy handwriting. You immediately feel the flames rise into your chest.
It's a quick stride from your desk to his cubicle, stack of papers tightly tucked into your fist. You slam them onto his desk as soon as you reach it, and he raises an eyebrow at you in response. "What the hell is this?" He glances at the papers and back at you. "The copier isn't working. I wrote what I needed." You sigh, annoyed at the fact that he doesn't understand.
"You couldn't have waited for me to get here and brought them to me yourself? I would really appreciate it if you would treat me like a human being every once in a while, ya know, actually acknowledge my existence." You realize how dramatic you must sound, but in all honesty you've been thinking it for years, it was only a matter of time before it came out. "I needed copies. I didn't think my acknowledgement meant that much to you." He holds his hands out in defense, feigning that he actually cared if he had hurt your feelings.
"I think you think you're smarter than everyone else here." You plant a hand on the table in front of him as you crouch to his level.
He sighs and you can see the corners of his mouth twitch. "I do. Is that so bad?"
"It makes you an asshole."
He finally faces you.
"Better to be an asshole than to be an idiot."
His voice doesn't carry any malice, yet the words feel like a slap in the face to you. It leaves you scrambling for a response, opening your mouth only to close it a second later. Until you decide to merely respond with a nervous chuckle. Sure, you thought his response showed his ego, but you had to admit. He got you. He faces you once more at the sound of your light chuckle, green eyes meeting yours completely. "I guess you're right."
You catch the corners of his mouth turning upwards.
"If it means that much to you, I will greet you next time."
━━━━
And he does. Greet you that is. You find yourself talking to him more and more. Sitting in the break room with him at lunch, looking over his shoulder at the crossword puzzle he works on at his desk and giving your best shot at an answer, relishing in the furrow of his brows as he turns to look over his shoulder at you. He's an asshole. He's arrogant. But there's something about him that's drawing you in. Sometimes you feel like a fish caught in a net. All those moments he'd brushed you off and yet you find yourself repeating the little quirks of his soft smiles in your head. You hate the term "work husband", but it seems that Edward is slowly becoming the very definition of that.
You don't speak outside of the office, but you find yourself gravitating towards him when you're stressed. You tell him about your landlord and the reason you had gotten so defensive with him. He understood.
"It's a cesspool here. None of these people actually care about people like us, not the landlords, not our coworkers, certainly not the politicians." He had said in that moment.
As October rolls around and the leaves begin to fall, you find yourself beginning to bring two coffees to work, one for you, one for him. He always shows an appreciative nod. But the moment you start to think about asking him to actually go out with you for coffee is like being the fish pulled out of the water and accepting it's inevitable fate. You were gonna let him drive you insane.
You're sure of it as you are caught up in the nerves and find yourself softly grabbing his hand to stop him outside the front doors of the office. You quickly pull your hand from his. no doubt blushed a deep red. But he just stares, waiting for you to speak. You clear your throat. "I- um- Sorry, I was just gonna see if you had plans now." And it pains you the way he doesn't speak, just continues to stare.
"There's a diner on the corner near here. I think they have decent pie."
He loosens the tension in his shoulders and looks down. "Oh. I'm actually sort of drowning in... paperwork right now." He shifts his weight from one foot to the other, clearly uncomfortable. God, you hoped you hadn't made him uncomfortable. "I'm sorry."
You quickly shake your head and let out a breathy laugh. "Oh no! It's totally fine, I probably have paperwork to finish too." You hope it hides the pang you feel in your chest. "I'll see you tomorrow." You swiftly turn and walk away before he can respond.
━━━━
But you wouldn't see Edward tomorrow. Matter of fact you wouldn't see him for the next three days after Halloween. You try not to let it bother you.
It's the beginning of a cold November, he's probably just sick or desperately needed a vacation. Or perhaps you'd seriously fucked it all up and he couldn't even stand the sight of you. You can't stop the deep sigh that comes from you as you rest your forehead in the palm of your hand. Embarrassingly, you ask Zach if he's heard from Edward. Not that you expected him to be particularly helpful. "Are you guys, like, fucking?" You are stunned and stammering your words. "Wha- No! No. I just worry about him."
"Look, I wouldn't worry about him too much, I mean the guy's basically a fucking recluse. When do you ever see him outside of here? Maybe it's good that he's somewhere besides here."
Still, there's no chance of you actually focusing on work and you find yourself aimlessly scrolling through news headlines, before one in particular catches your eye.
'Mayoral Incumbent Donald Mitchell, Jr. Murdered in his Home on Halloween Night.'
Holy shit.
━━━━
Edward is back at work after three long days, and despite your worry of his annoyance and anger, he is oddly elated.
It's the first time he approaches your desk. Leaning against it, coffee cup in hand, and flashing an awkward smile before asking, "So did I miss anything?" It leaves you a little taken aback, but it's a relief to see him approach you willingly after your last conversation.
"Um yeah, Zach was a total prick as usual- Oh! And our mayor was murdered."
He raises an eyebrow and takes a sip from the coffee cup. You feign annoyance, "No but seriously where were you? I started to wonder if that psychopath got you too."
He smiles. "Just sick. November weather and all."
━━━━
The first time you see the green mask you are in a huddle of coworkers around a computer screen.
'Police Commissioner, Pete Savage, Murdered. Killer Leaves Shocking Confession.'
"My God. What a sick freak." Zach interjects.
You can barely stand to watch. The video is hardly graphic aside from the disturbing voice of the masked man, but the implications of what happens when the video cuts off leaves your stomach turning. You walk away. Desperate for some space, but also desperate for a distraction. Edward sits straight in his office chair across the room. You hesitate slightly before striding toward his desk and leaning your weight against it. You can feel the sweat beading at your forehead as you lightly brush hair from your eyes. "Shit."
It's merely a whisper to yourself, but he turns his head to face you. For once his face shows concern towards you. Yet he still says nothing, only looks. Observant as always.
"Sorry. I needed to get out of that." You gesture towards the group of coworkers still huddled and murmuring among each other. He glanced back, before turning back towards his work. "The news?" He inquires quietly.
"Yeah. It's a little too much for me to stomach." There's a little pause as if he is hesitant to say anything before finally replying, "They were pricks. Don't you think they kind of deserved it?"
You straighten up, looking at him with shock. "I think they were still people with families." He frowns at you before you finally walk away from his desk to make your way to the restroom. You needed to get a grip.
━━━━
Edward apologizes for his insensitivity after work. You had stayed with him outside of the building long after all of your other coworkers had left. "It's fine." You refuse to look at him as he lights a cigarette and gets in a few quick puffs. You're being mean. But if you're honest the combination of his rejection and his comment earlier in the day had set you off. "And I'm sorry for last week." Only then you look up at him.
"I've had a lot going on, and it feels a little unfair to bring you into all of that."
"This feels like an excuse to let me down easy. It's okay if you just don't want to go on a date-"
The feeling of chapped lips on your own stops you mid sentence. He tastes of coffee and cigarettes and you crave more, but he pulls back quickly. His free hand remains at your cheek, holding your face in a gentle caress. "It's not an excuse. Things are just complicated for me right now." His eyes never leave your face. It's the best look you've gotten of them. Of him. His features are gentle behind shaggy hair and acetate glasses.
Something feels wrong and eerie in the back of your mind. Like seeing him this close gave you a sickening feeling of deja vu. Things were definitely complicated. The bags under his eyes were showing his exhaustion well, he had gone from elated to unwell since his return. He seems like a broken man, but he'd never let you close enough to find out why. You can't help but feel the connection, like he deserved a shot even if he didn't want it. Even if he thought he was smarter. Even if there's a side to him that could hurt you. You push down your feelings of uneasiness.
You press a chaste kiss to the corner of his lips.
"When you're ready."
━━━━
You're awake nearly all night the next weekend. Spending the entire time digging through news about the figure known as The Riddler, his possible next targets, possible identities, and most importantly all of the video footage he'd put out in the last few weeks. It's certainly not healthy. You generally steer clear of these sorts of things. Years of therapy had gotten you far and you would rather not ruin it by desensitizing yourself. But you can't help it. You find yourself going deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole until you find yourself tuning into his streams late at night.
He speaks with such a confidence in himself. As if he has all of the answers, and is just waiting to enlighten the world. His followers are even more terrifying. They'd do anything for him. You wonder how low a person must be in life to resort to this sort of behavior. But, you're not a psychiatrist. Who are you to speak on these people. These strangers.
"We are going to cleanse this cesspool of city."
You slam the laptop shut.
Sleeping isn't easy after this sort of activity. You should've known. You turn on a show you don't actually care about to give yourself some sense of security in background noise. And soon you find yourself drifting asleep. It's not great sleep. You can sense yourself tossing and turning, but you can deal with it. Everything is fuzzy until you find yourself on your back.
Paralyzed.
It's not uncommon for you to experience sleep paralysis, but you've experienced it less after your time in therapy. You try to keep your breathing steady, trying to convince yourself that whatever you see is merely a hallucination.
Shh. Shh. Just breathe.
But the figure that appears is familiar. That's what scares you the most. The green coat and mask is horrifying as it inches towards the bed, and you can't scream. you can't move away. You can only watch the blood drip from his gloved fingertips onto your floor as he stares. Tilting his head at you slightly, as he brings a hand up to his head. You can hear your heart pounding and you are practically internally begging yourself to wake up. The latches on his mask pop open and you're horrified to find that the face underneath is so familiar. A slight smirk on lips you have kissed before. Blood dripping from a hand that you've held before. You try to scream. Tears falling down your temples until he is suddenly gone and you shoot up in your bed.
You can't hold back the cry that escapes your throat. It wasn't real, he's gone, and you're safe in your room.
━━━━
Until suddenly the safety of your room begins to feel a lot less safe. You hear it. The creaking of the floorboards at night, the slight tapping against the glass of your bedroom window. The slight squeak of leather rubbing and rustling together. You're too scared to open your eyes those first few nights. You'd rather be blind and take your fate than die in paralyzing fear.
But you know it's him.
It was never unclear what was staring at you in the night. Maybe the nightmares of the leather gloves touching your skin hadn't been nightmares at all. You want so badly to be sickened. To run into your bathroom to empty your stomach out of panic and fear. Instead you feel a strange mixture of annoyance and arousal in your gut.
He thinks he's smarter than you.
You find yourself playing into his games.Attempting to one up him. To show him you aren't scared of him. That you can keep up. You begin to deliberately change in front of your window. Letting lacy fabric hit the cold floor and standing just a tad longer, stalling before covering yourself back up.
You hope he's watching when you peel off your work tights. You hope he's imagining himself on his knees tearing the delicate fabric from your form, only to be blocked by a thin pane of glass. You wanted the upper hand.
You hope he's watching as you sink two fingers into yourself, thinking about crisp, white button ups and clear framed glasses.
━━━━
The next few weeks are tense at work. You heard the news of what happened to Gil Colson at Don Mitchell's funeral. Edward would walk in everyday, and attempt to greet you, only this time it's you who is short. You have a little hope that he can't see straight through you. But you can see it in the way that he looks at you that you're an open book. Who's to say that he won't just watch, but actually kill you to keep you from talking. But deep down you both know your lips are shut tight.
So you work through the days, just ready to get home. You can hardly stand to look at him. It makes you feel like you're an accomplice. A sitting duck for a man who probably doesn't even care about you, withholding a tip to the police because deep down you really do like him. And you had hoped he liked you too until things got complicated. Now you think it would just be best if he abandoned you right where you were. But he doesn't. In fact, he suddenly has more courage than you'd ever seen from him. It's evident as he catches you by your arm and pulls you into the alleyway beside the office after work is over. It's dark and you'd be lying if you said you weren't scared, but he kisses you like nothing is wrong. Like he has no clue. Like nothing has changed.
You pull away from him, wide eyes staring back at him. "Are you okay?" He asks quietly as he brushes a hand up your arm. You can't help the break in your voice. "I know, Edward."
He just stands and stares. "What?" You take two steps back. "You're killing people." He continues to stare. He drops his hand from your arm. The silence scares you more than anything. But he simply sighs.
"I think you should go home and get some rest."
And before you can argue he walks away with a quickened pace.
━━━━
So you do. You return to your shitty apartment and try to compose yourself. What would he do now that you said that? Maybe you were wrong. Maybe you had accused him of something he genuinely didn't do. But it didn't feel wrong. You sigh as the hot water hits your back. You had hoped a shower would help you feel refreshed, but for the first time in a while, it feels like a chore. You can't enjoy it, so you rush through it. As you step into your bedroom you stop in your tracks. The window is slightly ajar, a cool draft flowing in tingles your bare legs. And then you see him. The figure in the darkness of your room. This time you're not dreaming.
He's in your room. You're paralyzed. The position you swore you'd never let yourself be put in. He's got the upper hand.
He just stands there. A part of you wishes he would attack you. Kill you. Anything just to break the still silence. You realize you're shaking. You agreed to play his game and now you're trailing his lead, allowing yourself to be beaten.
"Edward."
It comes out as a shaky whisper, but he visibly takes it in as he steps toward you to close the distance. You can see his eyes crinkle at the corners through the green mask. He's smiling. And he reaches a gloved hand to your face, cupping one cheek. You can feel the warmth radiating from his hand even through the glove. So, he is human. The Riddler has a beating heart and flowing blood. He is not a cold, lifeless monster. His stoic frame you had become so familiar with at work was gone. He catches a tear from your cheek with his thumb.
He is terrifying.
"No more through the window. I'll be gone soon."
Before you can entirely comprehend the statement and it's implications, your brain forms the word that leaves your mouth. "Gone?"
He simply smiles again, this time reaching his hands behind his head to abandon the mask he had come in with, and there he is. Cherubic features glowing under the street lamp light that flows in from your window. "I watched you live for a month. I watched you eat, sleep, undress, touch yourself. But you knew that right? Otherwise you wouldn't have put on such a show."
You attempt to struggle away from his grasp in disgust at his words but he holds you tight in front of him. "But that's alright. I'll tell you the truth because I hate liars. I liked knowing that you were doing it all for me. I wanted nothing more than to cleanse Gotham, to give them true salvation, but you put a dent into that plan. You became a distraction that I foolishly indulged." The soft light is hitting his features just right. He looks like an angel in devils' clothing. And his tight grip is right back to a gentle caress. His hand reaches the small of your back and you're sucking in a shrill breath.
His kiss is soft, inexperienced. Much like the other times you had kissed. But he is treating you like glass that might break. You think it might be the first time you've seen him relax enough to be seen as a particularly gentle being. He's ditched his looming, arrogant behavior you're so used to just to show you his utmost affection. It's the first time you have seen him like this since the first time you had kissed.
But some part of you is burning. He's not your prince charming. You know exactly what he is capable of, you've seen it. You're not glass. You're not a damsel. This is a man who has watched you undress for him through your window for weeks. This is a man who has killed. And it shouldn't bring heat into your core the way it does. Perhaps it's the thrill of the danger.
You kiss him so hard that your teeth clash. It stuns him as his hand lifts from your body momentarily before finding purchase at your hips. He's inexperienced, but the desperation coming from both of you is enough to cover it up.
The warmth and weight of his tongue in your mouth is intoxicating. The little sparks of guilt and shame that flash in your stomach are quickly subdued by his nimble fingers caressing under your nightgown and up your thighs to hook in the waistband of your panties. You can't help the pathetic moan that escaped your mouth as he slowly drags the fabric down your legs.
"I wanted to do it right. Wanted to take you to that diner, buy your food, take you home, and act like I hadn't thought about fucking you into your mattress every single night."
It's almost strange to see him on his knees. He has built himself up to be godlike. You were sure he wouldn't mind you on your knees in front of him. Absolutely worshipping him. The warmth of his tongue swiping over you has your thoughts lurching, and yes, god, he is divine.
"But it would be wrong to pretend to be someone I am not. I'm not a liar."
You can't help but tangle your fingers into his beautifully unkept hair and pull. He is ravishing you. Sinking two fingers into you until you feel the heavenly curl right into the spot that makes you whimper. "Eddie-" He swallows your moans in a desperate openmouthed kiss. His fingers are working you open, you can feel tightness build in your stomach. Like a rubber band ready to snap. But it's ripped away from you as he pulls his fingers out of you and swiftly pushes you to the bed. The sounds of his belt buckle coming undone has your heart racing faster than it already was, your stomach fluttering.
He buries himself inside of you with no hesitation, no time to adjust. It hurts and his inexperience is noticeable, but the look of bliss on his face and his slight whimpers has you ready to cum before you've even started.
You're gripping onto the back of the green leather parka, reminding yourself of who you're with. Who you're letting fuck you right now. But those green eyes bring you back to all those times he'd flash a slight smile your way in the office. He'd try to hide it but you're the only person he showed fondness towards in that hell hole of a workplace. Thinking back to the night he had kissed you has tears welling up in your eyes again. He notices.
He slows his pace momentarily, letting his short thrusts turn into long drags. A gloved hand wipes tears away once again and you meet his concerned gaze.
"Does this not make you happy?"
Your hands move to cradle his face. A move that he's certainly not used to as his thrust halt for a moment in surprise. "I am happy. But what comes after this? Am I supposed to ignore you and pretend I know nothing about you? That I feel nothing for you?" He stops his movements completely now. The room has fallen silent apart from the heavy breathing between you two.
"I have to mean nothing to you. Momentarily."
You knew the answer before you asked the question, but it hurts just as bad anyway. You don't take your eyes off his. The Riddler's facade is cracking before your eyes, you can see his eyes becoming glossy. It's almost like he's turned into a completely different person. He kisses you. Deeply, but not rough. There's so much pent up feeling behind it, you could sob even harder. But you don't and he keeps kissing you as he resumes his movements.
You're not using any protection, but you're too blissed out to care. You crave that feeling of warmth. "Eddie- I-"
His hips start to stutter as he cuts you off and buries his face in your neck. " I love you- please God- just say it back to me. Tell me you love me." You hold his face in your hands guiding his gaze to meet yours again. "Edward, I love you."
That's all it takes for him to fall apart. His whimpers and cries are like music to your ears and the feeling of warmth as he releases everything he has into you is blissful. You both have to take a second to recover, foreheads pressed together. But eventually he rolls off of you carefully and tucks himself back into his pants. The silence is deafening. You said it to push him over the edge, but was it true that you loved him? The idea of falling in love with Edward was easy in your mind, in a perfect world the idea of settling down somewhere else and waking up next to him felt good. But this wasn't a perfect world. Edward killed people, powerful people, and the chance that he'd get away without paying for it was slim.
"I'm gonna turn myself in in a couple of days."
"Okay."
"You should leave Gotham. It's not going to be safe for you here. If the cops ask you're visiting a friend in Bludhaven."
His hand grips yours as he looks at you.
"I promise if I ever get out, I'll find you."
━━━━
You do as he asked of you. Got a hotel in Bludhaven and in the next couple of nights you watched the television endlessly, waiting to see his face. The night you finally did, you cried yourself to sleep, gripping the hotel sheets as you buried your face into your pillow.
But you held yourself together and did as Edward asked.
When the man in the bat suit showed up at your hotel door a week after the flood you give your best answers.
"I'm visiting a friend, but the flood has kept me in town."
"No, I didn't know him well, we just worked together."
"I mean he was a little strange, but I never thought he would murder someone."
“I would never have expected it to be him.”
"I hope he gets the help he needs."

Pairing: Hanzo Shimada x reader, Genji Shimada x reader
Genre: fluff/slight angst? headcanons lol
Summary: how jealous are the Shimada brothers + how they react to someone flirting with you
Word count: 1k
CW: slight harassment (Genji's), naïve reader (Hanzo's), drinking, slight possessiveness, protective! genji
so this is my first ever time trying to do headcanons...definitely felt a little awkward but it was fun to try! if i ever do more in the future it will definitely be the same as this format (a few hcs and then a written scenario). this is short oops
————
Hanzo Shimada:
Hanzo is definitely the jealous type IF there was something he genuinely had to be jealous of
He’s not really the kind to get jealous/possessive over you just talking to a guy
But if someone starts flirting with you?
Its over
He gets SO annoyed for no reason
Not that he would do anything about it (except pout)
He’s spent most of his life learning to be diplomatic so he knows how to keep things to himself
Still, doesn’t mean he likes seeing some guy flirting with you
If they get touchy?
He's there in an instant to give them a silent reminder to back off
Hanzo watches you silently, dark eyes narrowed. You’re talking to an old coworker, giggling about something he had said about your old manager. There’s a bitter taste in his mouth at the sight that he couldn’t explain.
He couldn’t quite remember when he had started to feel this way—maybe it was when he shifted closer to you during the conversation? He wasn’t sure. He was sure that this man had feelings for you, though. It was clear as day by his body language.
You didn’t seem to notice, though. He sighs. That was typical. You were so friendly and loving towards the people you cared about, you had tunnel vision when it came to these things.
“That’s so funny!” You choke out between giggles, face turning pink from lack of air.
Hanzo suppresses an eye roll. The joke wasn’t even that funny. Just some stupid impression of a character he knew you liked. Not even a good impression, at that.
You shoot a look his way, giving him a big smile. Hanzo tries to return it, but even he knows it looks more like a scowl. His ears perk up when he hears what your friend says next, though.
“So, are you doing anything tomorrow?”
You tilt your head to the side, thinking for a second. “I don’t think so.”
“What if we went to dinner?”
You raise an eyebrow. That seems a little strange—just the two of you? You look over at Hanzo, who’s now scowling clear as day. Oh, you realize. Oh. He’s been flirting with you this whole time, hasn’t he? And Hanzo is clearly jealous.
“I have a boyfriend, actually,” you admit sheepishly.
Hanzo has to bite his lip to keep from smiling. Your friend apologizes, and feeling the awkward tension between the two of you now, decides it's time to leave. You wave him goodbye, waiting until he’s out of earshot to return to your beaming boyfriend.
“What are you so happy about?”
“Nothing, nothing,” but he can’t seem to hide his smile anymore.
You jab him in the ribs. “Don’t act like you weren’t jealous.”
“Jealous? That man is an idiot.”
“So if I did want to go to dinner with him…?” You tease.
“Not a chance.”
Genji Shimada:
Also the jealous type (must run in the family oops)
Definitely gets more jealous than Hanzo
Less discreet about it too
As soon as someone starts flirting with you, he’s watching like a sparrow hawk
Tries to respect your space cause he knows you can handle yourself
But will literally pout the whole time like a child
Reads lips/body language to see what’s going on
Eventually just gives in and forces himself into the conversation
Will hug you from behind or wrap his arm around you
You’re at the bar, ordering drinks for you and the boys. He was hesitant to go out tonight, but with some light convincing from you and Cassidy, he agreed. Of course, now the boys were in a heated battle of who was better at darts. No, not the game of darts. Just the theoretical topic of who would beat who.
That left you to get the next round, grateful to be away from their testosterone for a minute.
“Those all for you, honey?”
You roll your eyes at the man who had just sidled up to you. “Yeah, I’m actually a binge drinker. Hoping it’ll make this interaction more enjoyable.”
“Damn,” mischief flashes in the man's eyes. “Too bad I like them sassy.”
You hate the way his eyes scan over you, like you’re some sort of prey. You silently wish that Genji was at your side just so this asshole would leave you alone. Hell, you would even settle for Cole at this point.
The bartender gives you your drinks and you hand her a twenty. While you wait for your change, the man tries to chat you up more. You stick to giving him one worded answers, and ignore the passes he’s making at you. It’s not worth it.
Meanwhile, Cassidy had wandered off to the bathroom, leaving Genji to wonder where you were. You had said you were getting drinks, but that was at least ten minutes ago. He scans the crowd, eyes falling on you at the bar next to a tall, burly looking man.
He’s chatting you up, and you just sit there and take it. Genji shoots silent daggers his way, even though you clearly look disinterested. He wants to step in and save you, but he knows you can defend yourself. His chest tightens at the sight.
It isn’t until you try to leave and the man grabs your shoulder tight enough that you wince that Genji decides to get involved. He’s at your side instantly, ripping the man’s hand off of you.
“Back off,” he glowers at him.
The man’s eyes widen in fear at the sight of your cyborg boyfriend, and he raises his hands in defeat. You wrap your arms around Genji’s waist tightly, mumbling your thanks into the fabric of his sweatshirt.
He takes you back to the table, Cassidy still not back from his washroom trip. You wonder if he got his poncho stuck in his fly again.
“Thanks again for the save,” you sip your drink.
Genji shrugs, “I’m here to protect you.”
“How did you even know to come help me?”
“Well,” he says sheepishly, cheeks burning, “I may have been watching him.”
“You were watching us?” You laugh, “were you jealous, Gen?”
He rolls his eyes. “Me? Jealous?”
You raise an eyebrow.
“I was just looking out for you.”
You giggle, planting a quick kiss to his cheek. It’s clear that he was jealous, but you figured it wouldn’t hurt to let it slide this one time. After all, he did save you.

___________________________________________
Miguel knew he was lucky to have found you.
You had been his miracle when everything was about to get lost.
A spider woman that was also a telepath, had the ability of clairvoyance, a direct connection with the web of life and destiny.
In every universe, your other versions were blind, sick, and old.
But you were different. Healthy, young, and wise.
“Miguel, you’re the strongest spider I’ve ever seen in my visions. Don’t risk everything you’ve built because of your fears…” you had said with such care and smoothness. And that was enough for him to surrender. He apologized to Miles, begged for help from his fellow spider coworkers, and helped to get rid of the spot.
Although Miguel O’Hara tried and did his best, the damage was done. Nueva York was against him. And half of the spider society too.
He was low-key shocked and depressed. All he ever wanted was to protect as many people as he could. That was his initial thought after carrying the weight of accidentally destroying an entire universe. He wanted to do things right. He wanted a safe place for spiders.
That wasn’t the case in the present though.
Miguel spent most of his days locked in his office. Putting Jess in charge, taking a liking to Ben to be sent on missions. And ignoring the spiders who only were part of the society to help clean the mess spot. He didn’t even visit his apartment in downtown Nueva York. That way he would avoid his city. The one that he had helped, even when the citizens never thanked him.
Miguel knew May's universes. Where people loved their Spider-Man or Spider-Woman. But in Nueva York, it seemed like people were always hesitant about Miguel, well… about Spiderman 2099.
Even the needle that injected the serum Miguel needed, seemed annoying.
He sighed, admitting he was tired.
And it would get worse.
“Hey, Miguel?” Jess asked, poking her head at the entrance of his lab.
“Hmm?”
“People are fighting at the cafeteria again” he exhaled, extremely tired.
“Fuck…” he whispered before activating his mask and following his friend.
“Lyla. Tell me what happened…” the AI appeared immediately and opened a little virtual screen in front of her.
“Another disagreement over the new rules at the HQ” Jessica sighed loudly.
“I don’t get it. We’re giving them a chance to do what they think it’s correct”
That was the issue. After the incidents with The Spot, Miles, and your apparition, Miguel suggested that the spider people could choose whether to stay at the HQ or leave to only work in their respective universes.
But some people wanted to stay, only not with Miguel in charge.
And nobody had the guts to make front to him.
The cafeteria was all barks and curses when Miguel and Jess joined.
“Silence!” The woman yelled. And everyone obeyed, looking shocked and scared even through their masks.
“What happened?” Miguel asked looking down. Even when he knew the reason, he wanted to hear it.
“Nothing, boss. Just this asshole who thinks we should plot against you” said a grey Spider-Man pushing another spider, who seemed to be from a Victorian era.
“We’ve talked about this…” Miguel explained.
“Yeah? Listen, man. I’m only here because my universe always ends up with anomalies. But I don’t want to be your employee. Not after what you did…” said the Victorian spider.
“I’ve also apologized. And it’s been some time for everyone to figure out that I meant it” Nobody said anything.
“That matters? Our perspective has changed. And your apologies can’t soothe it at all”
From the upper level, Peter appeared. Balancing and landing in the middle of the conversation.
“Boy, don’t be like that. We all need each other here. Miguel is not evil, he’s done a lot for us” Miguel was not used to being defended by anyone. And he changed his behavior towards Peter after the incidents. Peter had stayed on his side even after siding with Gwen and Miles.
“Oh, you act like his boyfriend, Peter. What has this asshole done?” Miguel was about to punch Victorian Spider-Man. He was so close…
“That asshole created everything for you to save all the anomalies you claim to have in your universe. Say thank you and don’t be dick…” everyone turned their masks to see you there.
Miguel almost choked.
You were there.
New suit, new haircut, new lipstick. It was you…
“Wow! Y/n! You’re back!” Peter cheered walking to give you a big hug.
“It’s been some time..” you replied smiley.
“Who the hell are you?” The vintage spider asked.
“I’m the one who finished The Spot. And you? Charles Dickens in tights?” Peter and others laughed, surely making Victorian Spider-Man embarrassed.
When you looked again, you finally faced Miguel.
“Hello, Miguel” Your smile was enough to make him feel less worried.
“You’re back…”
“I am. I told you I’d be back” his face remains still. No articulation on any of the muscles, he just stared. And you slightly worried that he might have been not so happy to see you. Until he stepped closer.
“I’m glad you’re here” you smile. Then you face Victorian Spider-Man back.
“I’ll make sure you understand…” through the mask, the vintage spider is giving you a bad look. But you ignore it.
Miguel wonders what you meant. He wants to know everything; why you came back, why you looked happier than the first time, why your hair seemed different, why your lips looked softer. His brain was burning.
The silence dies when most of the spiders start leaving the cafeteria again.
Leaving you alone with Peter, Jess, and Ben who recently joined by the end of the argument.
“So… That was…” Jess babbles but never finishes the sentence.
“I wasn’t threatening him…” you assure her. Miguel eyed you constantly, while Peter could only smile like an idiot.
“So you meant it? How do you plan to make him understand?”
“Not sure yet, but I’ll help” They look confused at each other.
“Mind to elaborate on that?” Jess asks with crossed arms. Not that she didn’t believe you, but you appeared so randomly the first time, and now… the same.
“Hey, we should have dinner to discuss this…” Peter had thought about something, and it would doom everything, for good… and bad. Jess looked at him oblivious, and Miguel remained stoic as usual.
You, on the other hand, were surprised.
Since you were younger, you expected them to not take you seriously. But since day one, they respected you. Which never happened before.
“A dinner? That would actually be nice” Jess agreed.
“We can talk, y/n can explain why she came back and Miguel can be there too” Peter is being silly, but he has faith in his ideas.
“Right, Miguel?” You eye the man, and he only sighs before nodding.
“Awesome, then… How about tomorrow?” Leaving aside the surprise, you smile at the group of adults.
“Okay, so…Jess and I have to go somewhere else.”
“Peter, we don’t-“ Jess tried to say, but Peter shushed her.
“YES!, we need to update our gizmos” exchanging weird looks, they left, leaving you alone with Miguel.
“I’m sorry for… them” you giggle.
“It’s okay, I really like them” he nods. Miguel stares at your shiny and slightly disheveled eyes. Some glitters are scattered across your nose bridge and cheekbones. He wants to clean your face but only stares.
“Do you mind if I stay?” You ask.
“No.”
“Cool.”
“I-, I could show the lab. We have new gizmos” Your excitement is so potent, that even Miguel senses how happy you are.
“I’d like that…”
“Okay. Follow me…” his broad back faced you, and obstructed most of your view.
The HQ was still the same as before. Only that seemed… less crowded.
It saddened again the reason why you came back.
A vision.
Miguel O’Hara is accused of being a violent instigator. Many people from Nueva York demanding him to give up on being Spider-Man.
He would be in pain. A silent pain that you would make sure to free him from.
Because you didn’t owe him anything, he did in fact. But you had a feeling, a tingly feeling that made you feel warm.
“Here it is…” You would never know, that he was nervous. About having you there.
“Wow, I’m not a scientist but I know that very few people have something like this” he wants to smile. You inspect everything, with caution and some insecurity.
“You can touch…” the jars with strange contents, the machines, and tools, everything was very interesting.
Miguel wants to slap himself after analyzing what he has said. It might have sounded inappropriate. But you seem to not have minded.
Lyla suddenly appeared beside the tall man. You smiled widely after spotting her looking at some papers.
“Miguel. You left this report incomplete. And-, OH!-… Y/N! HEY!. What are you doing here?”
“Hello, Lyla. I’m here to help if I’m being honest” Her heart-shaped sunglasses now are butterflies ones. And her hair is slightly shorter. Oh, not to mention her couture coat seemed better with some jewelry around.
“Which you haven’t given details of” Miguel added, arms crossed. His arms looked bigger and you wondered how many hours he trained to keep those giant muscles.
“I’m cleaning your reputation, Miguel” you revealed.
His gesture changed, from a cheeky little chuckle to a serious face.
“My reputation?”
“Yes.” You confirm to him. Even Lyla seems surprised.
“How?” He’s unsure of what or how to feel.
“Empathy.” he laughs. You hear an actual laugh from Miguel O’Hara, even if it’s sarcastic.
“Really? Empathy? You think empathy will make people understand that I’m not a danger to them?” Lyla hurries to appear beside you, like trying to defend you from Miguel.
“When I do things I don’t even want or need to, empathy is what I feel for them” Suddenly, Miguel remembers you are a telepath. And the reason why you came to him the first time, is because you saw something.
“I’m sorry” he apologizes.
“It’s fine. Just… believe on this, please” The lab was in complete silence. Only the beeping sound of a machine draws your attention away from the man in front of you.
Miguel had no choice. He didn’t have the heart to say no to you. Besides, he was still eager to get to know you better.
“Okay.”
“Hey. Can’t you just like to erase their minds and boom? Done?” Lyla asks. You smile at her.
“I’m not powerful enough to do that. But there’s something related I can do. However, I prefer to explain in more detail with the others. Is that okay?” Miguel nods again but wonders what you meant by saying you were not powerful enough, you were literally the only spider person with telepathy and clairvoyance.
“So… See you tomorrow? At dinner?” Lyla inspects your face. She gets lost in your irises, and Lyla’s processing unit makes a statement. One that she will reveal to Miguel just after you leave.
“I guess so.” You giggle and it makes Miguel awkward. He felt some kind of comfort at hearing you laugh.
“Hey, I like your new suit,” you say pointing at his chest before waving goodbye to him and Lyla.
As soon as you disappeared through the door, Lyla squealed and went straight to Miguel giving little hops.
“OH MY GOSH! Did you see that? TELL ME YOU SAW THAT, MIGUEL”
“What are you talking about?” Miguel asked getting heavily annoyed by the AI.
“Well… y/n!. She was so sweet, and the eyes. OH MY!, THE EYES!”
“Could you stop screaming?”
“Oh c’mon, Miguel. You saw it, right?” Lyla pushed.
“What, Lyla?”
“She had heart eyes. And dude, she was definitely flirting by the end” Miguel’s blood went cold. He felt even more awkward, a strange feeling running through his arms, chest, and stomach.
He didn’t like it.
“No. You’re wrong, Lyla”
“I’m an AI, you programmed me to be straight and precise about the things I see”
shit, she was right.
“Okay, enough of this. Call Ben, there’s patrol on earth-37” he acidly said. Lyla shrugged, leaving immediately.
Miguel replayed Lyla’s words over and over.
He could never see you other than a workmate. Probably not even a friend. You were younger, you had suffered your own pain as far as he knew and you had different goals than him.
But you were so sweet, you appeared to help him and you didn’t expect anything in return. This time, you were there for him, again. And your hopes to help and succeed were something Miguel couldn’t crush, he wouldn’t even try.
He didn’t dislike you, but he didn’t believe you turned out to be his epiphany.
He was totally wrong.
The sound of glasses, faded conversations and laughs ruled the fancy restaurant.
It’s an early night, the place is full. Miguel chose the best restaurant in Nueva York. A steak and salad place with holographic trees and dim lights. The terrace is also full, but you are inside with your friends… and Miguel.
To Miguel’s dismay, the only thing he has eyes and ears for… were for you.
“And then, my parents discovered the suit. That’s when I had to tell them, it was so embarrassing. But we’re okay at least” Peter was laughing with Jess as they told him how his family discovered you were Spider Woman last Thanksgiving.
“Just because of a burnt turkey?” Peter mocked.
“Just because of a burnt turkey.” You confirm laughing.
For a second, you exchange looks with Miguel and you hurry to sip from your wine. The man noticed and felt guilty. He had been so quiet and he didn’t want you to feel like he was hating the night.
“Isn’t it funny, Miguel?” Peter asks. In his twisted mind, Peter B. Parker really thought he could play Cupid.
Both men were seated together, with you and Jess across them. And you had to be facing Miguel. He stops chewing his food and looks at Peter, but doesn’t reply.
“Do they know about the society?” Miguel didn’t care if society was not a secret anymore. A lot had changed.
You sighed, placing your hair behind your ear.
“I never confirmed it to them. But they must know, they are scientists after all” you shyly explain. He nods, paying attention to your outfit. A maroon dress that seemed elegant, salmon makeup all over your face, and some tiny glitters shined on your eyes.
“Hey, I like your lipstick.” Jess complimented tapping at her own lips.
“Thanks, it’s an old brand back at home” she nodded. And Miguel looked at your lips too. Again that salmon tone, made you look younger.
“We haven’t discussed any of the important stuff” Jess and you stopped talking before turning to look at Miguel.
“Oh, right” Once again, Miguel didn’t mean to sound so harsh. He knew your eyes usually got stuck on his turtleneck sweater to avoid his eyes.
A sudden clatter caught everyone’s attention. When you turned around, a lot of people started screaming and hurrying to run away.
Explosions end up unleashing chaos.
Immediately you and your companions stand up, and through the crystals of the wide windows of the restaurant you see the cause of all the sudden violence.
“Isn’t that…?”
“Lightning?” Miguel asks back, confirming to Jess and Peter that an old enemy is back.
You immediately assumed it was a female variation of Electro. A woman with red hair, a green and golden costume, and a mask covering her eyes.
“Female electro?” Everyone nodded to you.
Since the restaurant was now empty, everyone activated their suits.
Miguel barely had time to see the new webs you had. The first time, he met the first spider with no webs, he wondered how you operated in your earth. Now, you had created some potent glittery webs.
But he focused on Lightning.
“Missed me, love?” The woman asks as soon as Miguel threatens her for the first time in the night.
“Don’t call me that.” Miguel despised the woman. She was pretty, but annoying and horrible.
Lightning attacked Miguel and the bright lights made you turn away from the bridge Peter, Jess and you were trying to stop from collapsing.
“Go. Miguel needs you” Peter said to you, groaning as he did his best to save everyone.
“But I can’t leave you two alone”
“Just go!” Jess added too.
Doubting, you end up breaking the webs you made.
You follow the lights.
You swing across the futuristic city with desperation because you know Miguel does not possess a spider-sense.
Also, you realized a night before, how much you cared about him.
Miguel was still an enigma. You barely knew him, yet… You felt like you had some influence.
The moment you told him in the middle of the chaos to stop chasing Miles, to do the right thing. It felt special.
Like your voice had an effect that wasn’t part of the telepathy you handled.
In the present, you gasp when another lightning hits near the top of a building.
With your webs, you land. Only to see Miguel cornering the woman.
He is saying something to her.
You don’t like the image.
This electro woman was very flirty and cheeky, she was pretty and strong.
You had no right, though.
She is about to hurt Miguel but you make her hand shoot some bright electricity into the air.
Both turn to look at you.
“A telepathic spider? That’s new…” Lighting says sarcastically.
“…y/n” Miguel calls.
The red-haired woman smirks looking at Miguel.
“Looks like you have a new little girlfriend” Miguel feels angered, and she pushes her further into the wall, making her laugh.
“Oh no, I’ve been replaced” you cringe. But an uncomfortable feeling sets in your stomach.
“You’ve never been an option” Miguel eyes you, and you don’t know how to feel about the whole action.
The woman seems angered, and before she can attack him again, you make some of the lobes of her brain freeze.
She falls on her knees and covers her eyes.
Miguel looks shocked. He knows you’re doing something, but he hurries to handcuff her.
“I’m sending her to the HQ” You nod at him.
Miguel opens a portal and pushes her to the HQ.
“…y/n” he calls you once the portal closes again.
You have the feeling that he’s gonna tell you something about the woman. Like he wanted to explain who she was.
You didn’t want to hear. Even if it meant Miguel could possibly like you.
You look to your right, to the skyscrapers. You can hear some people screaming. Probably scared of the bridge that was about to fall.
Your excuse.
You don’t even look at Miguel, you swing away.
He sighs, hands on his hips.
At that moment, two statements were made.
I have no right to be jealous, but I think I like him; you thought.
I don’t like how this feels, but I think I’m falling for her.
The heels in your boots end up making everyone turn to look at you at the HQ. Some bad looks, some impressed.
However, most are bad looks.
“Good morning, y/n. How are you?” Lyla pops out of nowhere. You smile at her.
“I’m good. How is everything doing?”
“Uhm…”
“Lyla?” You ask, growing worried.
“The night Lightning attacked the people from the bridge. They demand Spider-Man 2099 to leave the city.
You gasp in horror.
“I need to see Miguel” Somehow you end up jogging towards his office.
Cautiously, you enter the dark room.
Miguel is focused on his screens. His platform is lower than usual. And his back is facing you.
“Miguel…” you greet and call him.
He doesn’t flinch. You can feel how angry he was. His shoulders were slightly hunched, the way he breathed telling you how hard he was trying to remain calm.
Because of you.
You wanted to think this ability to sense emotions wasn’t always accurate. Because the way Miguel felt indicated that he might like you.
“We’re gonna fix this…”
“How?” He abruptly turns around. You are startled by his red eyes, his talons evident. And somehow he looked even taller.
“You can’t help me, y/n. And I’m not going to get you in any trouble” your heart swells. Beyond his anger, you can see softness. Miguel looks at the edge of being pouty.
It gets confusing. Is it just a crush or are you falling in love?.
“It’s over. Lightning was an annoying recurrent figure in Nueva York, she was plotting with Sinister Six from your Earth to bring back another spot. The civilians are tired, they don’t want any spiders anymore. It’s over, y/n” You shake your head, getting close to him.
That strange feeling invades his arms, chest, and stomach. Only that it’s not strange anymore. Miguel knows the feeling only appears whenever you’re around. It’s his heart telling him that his growing in love with you.
You take his hands. And when he tries to flinch again, you stop him, squeezing his hands tighter.
“No. Listen to me. The last vision I had, was about this. I’m not leaving you alone” he wonders if the vision said something about you two being together. Then he regretted it, thinking he was being too reckless and going further. Even if they were only thoughts in his head.
“Why? Why are you doing this?” You want to say you’re falling in love with him. That you never felt so attached to anyone. That you wanted him to be okay because you cared for him despite barely knowing him.
You don’t. Not entirely…
“Call me crazy, but back home, I don’t have anyone. And after the vision of the spot and the chaos. I feel so attached to you” Ever since Gabriella, Miguel hadn’t been emotional. He blocked his feelings, but you come and say you feel closer to him.
“I know that feeling” you offer him a brief smile.
Trying to hide your disappointment. You didn’t expect him to confess his love for you. But you hoped he would say more.
Still, his talons disappeared. His red eyes returned to the usual dark and warm brown.
By the way, he’s also attached to you now.
“Lyla?” You call the AI. She appears and smiles at you.
“Yes, y/n?”
“Could you please call a press conference?” Miguel’s eyes widen.
It had been years since he was involved in a press conference. The last time he was in one, was before becoming Spider-Man. When he had a full-time job at Alchemax.
“You’ll see what I’m capable of…” he’s smitten. He’s fully attracted to you know. But he’s so afraid of losing you. He knew that when he fell for a woman, he loved hard. Literally, only death could break the love spell in him. And yet, he sweetly remembered his first love, his late wife and Gabriella.
Once again, he didn’t like the feeling.
Being Spider-Man is a responsibility. We are aware of the dangers it comes with. However, behind the masks, we are humans. And behind the mask of the Spider-Man of this city, there’s a good man. A man with a warm heart who had always thought about the people, even if it meant putting himself in second place. You blame the only person that decides to sacrifice to ensure your security. You call him a danger for fighting the danger he doesn’t plan. You say his a bad person, but I dare you to spend a year without a hero. I won’t minimize what the police department and other branches do. But you’ll need someone bigger. All of you know it’s true.
All of you are in your right to not like the Spider-Man from your city. But you have to accept making him your enemy when he’s the first one to help you, will not take you anywhere. He built a place for spiders to help and keep everyone safe. The least you can do is respect him. And thank him that we can help you. Next time, that bridge might fall, and all the people on it, they’ll collapse.
Any questions?
Jess and Lyla were hearing your speech in Miguel’s office. Lyla is smiling like a Cheshire Cat, and Jess smirks.
“Yup, she ate,” Jess said with her arms crossed.
“Look at the way she smiles at Miguel. I’m dying” Lyla fan girls over the screen that shows you and him. Flashes are evident, the NYPD logo in the back, the American flag, and the microphone cover the image.
In the footage, questions can be heard.
How many spiders work in the base our Spider-Man built? Is there a multiverse? Are you Spider-Man’s wife?
Miguel only knew one thing.
You fulfilled your promise. People apologized, but the HQ remained secret despite Nueva York knowing Miguel had founded a group at least.
“She made it” Jess added, standing beside Miguel.
“Did she say something else?” The man did not like the tone her friend opted for. Playful and nosy.
“About what?”
“ I don’t know. Y/n seems like a good girl” Lyla also added.
“Jessica” the woman knew she had to hush.
“I’m just saying. She’s linked to the web of life and destiny. What could be wrong?”
“And, she just cleared your image the society’s”
“Lyla shut up.” Miguel pleaded.
“Don’t you think so?”
“That’s exactly the problem, Jess. I don’t want to find out what could possibly go wrong” For the first time, indirectly, Miguel accepted he had feelings for you.
“Aha, Jess!. Miguel just admitted he likes y/n” Both Jess and Miguel glare at Lyla.
“Miguel. You can’t keep living like this. Believe me, it’s not gonna happen again” he knew he was closer to leaving his past behind. But your image and the feelings he had for you made him remember everything.
“I don’t know, Jess.”
Oh, he knew.
Gwen Stacy almost burned the apartment when she heard you scream. She threw a napkin to the stove, setting it on fire. But quickly throwing the burned piece to the sink.
She ran to your bedroom, only to find a nail polish glass shattered on your floor, the scarlet red making it look like blood.
The smell was intense and you were cursing.
Gwen had to laugh.
“You killed someone”
“I killed my look” you pointed at the top and skirt on your bed. Gwen arched an eyebrow.
“Who are you trying to impress?”
“Miguel. But I know I look hot in it. It’s not entirely because of him” the girl nodded.
She knew you liked Miguel.
And while the blonde had seen some changes in the grumpy man, she also knew you were experiencing different things with him.
“I can’t picture this. You having a date with him”
“It’s not a date” you state.
“Really? Fancy restaurant, HE asked you out, the outfit, and that lipstick!. You can’t trick me” you roll your eyes. But you love having her as a roomie.
Miguel approved her to live with you. With the condition to not cause any disturbance in your earth.
She followed the rules very well.
“If you’re not here in the morning, I’ll tell your parents” Gwen was trying to be serious, but you laughed, cleaning the nail polish mess with her.
“I can legally drink, Gwen. And if I don’t come home, I’m in good hands” Gwen pretends to be vomiting.
“The nail polish couldn’t make me puke, but your comment and whatever implying sure did” You can’t stop laughing.
She takes the glasses away and you can finally enter the shower.
He never learned.
Miguel was at the edge of being tipsy. That never happened.
But he offered a dinner to you.
Three weeks after the press conference, he had spent so much time with you.
In his office, in the HQ cafeteria, the rooftop of his apartment. Hours and hours of talking, eating together, even laughing.
“I’ll get the squash blossom and a tlayuda. What about you, Miguel?” You pull him out of his thoughts. He smiles at you and glances quickly at the menu.
“I want the Oaxacan fondue and the tasajo, well-cooked term” The waitress takes the order and disappears.
“We can share” he adds, making your smile grow as you nod.
He had to like you back. The things you’ve shared together. Friends don’t do that.
Miguel O’Hara didn’t make friends to begin with, this had to be love.
You had this aquamarine top full of sequins, a long denim squirt, and green shimmery heels. You wanted him to take the clothes away.
You weren’t rushing, after a whole month and a half of reuniting with him, you couldn’t deny your desires. At least they came after realizing you were in love with him.
“You look very pretty” Your cheeks turn red, and he giggles noticing it.
“Thanks. Don’t expect me to say the same, you always look gorgeous”
Shameless flirting, oh, you two had lost it.
As you eat your food, you can see his hungry eyes.
The first time you sensed he was having a lewd thought about you was some days ago. When his hands ended on your hips. You thought about it too. You wished he gripped them harder.
As the food finishes and the drinks too, your leg brushes his. Your shoulder brushes his and in a hazy moment. You kiss him, passionately.
He can’t run away. He knows he loves you. He is tipsy, and he also wants to kiss you so badly.
So he makes you happy by grabbing your hips again, harder like he didn’t know you wanted.
“Please, take me to bed” he nods between kisses. And he thinks the restaurant is dark, enough to drag the attention away.
He pays the check against your insistence of paying half of it. But Miguel makes you shut up with another deep kiss.
His lips were softer than you imagined, and his hands were bigger than you could ever thought.
And in the first alley, he opens a portal straight to his bedroom. Not even the entrance of his place.
You can’t believe what happens.
You don’t even remember when he took off your clothes and laid you in the middle of his giant bed.
“You’re so gorgeous,” you say moving your hands across his strong six-pack. His core was so tight that you think it’s impossible.
“But look at you, muñeca. I’m so lucky…” he says kissing your lower belly.
You know what’s coming. You’re desperate, eager for him to reach your wet folds with his lips and tongue.
“Oh-, ah…Miguel!” You moan arching your back, the intrusion of his tongue making feel you so desirable.
“You like it, Nena?” You nod moaning. Hands pinching your own nipples, eyes focused on the city at your right. Through the window, your eyes focused on the bright lights.
“Yes, yes. Oh-, fuck…” his tongue circled your clit, making you squirm everything the hood of it was uncovered. A lot was happening that night.
“Miguel!, Too much!”
“Too much, mami? We’re just starting…” how he dare? To be that hoot and sweet at the same time.
“No. Fuck me, please” you plead, massaging his scalp, making him even harder. His cock was at the edge of feeling painful, the head leaking more than ever.
“You think you’re ready to take me?” The sight is glorious, his hair disheveled, mouth shining thanks to you.
“I’m a big girl. Don’t stop even if I cry” he felt nasty, but he was about to have you.
“Good. Now spread those legs for me…” You slowly do it, teasing him. Miguel lost it when he saw you throb around nothing.
Maybe it was the alcohol, or the love, but even the pain was pleasure.
He ripped you open, but it only made you wetter.
He kissed your tears away. And promised to make you see stars.
Miguel was so down for you, that he accidentally said it.
“Fuck, I love you” you were so lost in the pleasure. His tip is to give your cervix the massage you ever asked for. The veins covering his cock draw patterns across your warm walls.
“Ah-, I love you too, Miguel” He almost stopped fucking you.
Miguel fought the tears as he concentrated on the pleasure.
He quickly got lost in your increasing moans. Your face of pleasure was enough.
And as if it was for the attachment you mentioned weeks ago, both of you reached the biggest orgasm.
A panting mess, but he caught you in his arms. He kissed your forehead and held you the whole night.
The first seconds of the morning, you don’t know where are you. But then, you feel a massive body beside you, Miguel.
His room is so boring. It’s grey, and most of the furniture is darker. Only some perfumes and candles stand out in bright colors.
You smile fondly. Instantly remembering the night before.
He treated you so well, and he said he loved you.
“Good morning,” you say once he starts opening his eyes.
Regret floods him.
‘Hey…’ he greets you.
He gave in, he had everything under control. But then you came with that stupid sequin top. And your perfume smelled so damn well. Then your eyes gave him that look. So he lost.
Miguel couldn’t love you. Because that meant you would suffer. One way or another, even if it was unsure.
Even when the annoying voice of Lyla replayed in his head, saying that he deserved someone like you.
“This shouldn’t have happened,” he said, hoarse voice stumbling across the room. He stands up, his naked upper body appearing in your sight.
“What?” You ask confused, panic building up. As you prepare for the worst. Failing…
“This was a mistake”
“No. Stop it…” you say sitting up, covering your chest with the sheets.
“Y/n…”
“Stop pushing me away!. All these weeks we’ve had amazing times, but you keep avoiding it. You’re not gonna lose me” you plead, touching his shoulder.
“I think it’s better to keep some distance” tears start forming. You swallow the lump.
“You said you loved me” you try, your last hope.
‘I was drunk. I don’t love you, I was just lucky to end up having you in my bed. Like I could have ended up having anyone else” you sob, he closes his eyes, swallowing his lies and trying to ignore the pain in his chest.
You were right, he was pushing you away.
“If you are so afraid of repeating your errors, you could have said it straight to my face. No need to be a fucking asshole and imply I’m a whore” you say, hurrying up to get out of the bed.
“That’s not what I meant. It’s-“
“You can lie to yourself. But not to me. Appreciate me one last time, because you’ll never see me like this again” The venom in your voice panics him.
You stare at him, naked, crying, and realizing all you did for him, meant nothing. You could feel how much he loved you. The ability to sense his emotions. But you would never force him to do anything.
“I came back to help you because I had a vision. Of you being hated, the HQ crumbling. But I would save you. And we would end up together.” It takes him aback.
As you activate your suit, his gizmo beeps. The alarm of an anomaly.
Six anomalies in your earth.
“Wait, y/n” Miguel pleads. To prevent you from fighting without notice, and to know more about your vision.
He believed in the thing you saw. Maybe your visions were even more powerful than canon.
But before he could grab your hand. You disappeared.
“Mierda…” he said, activating his suit too and heading towards the HQ.
The HQ seemed fine. As Miguel paced to learn more about the anomalies in your earth.
Only that everyone was reading some newspaper.
El mañanero is the most famous newspaper in Nueva York.
Headliner? Local Spider-Man has a Spider-Woman lover?
A picture of you and him in your suits. A picture someone likely took in disguise as you two had a patrol.
Miguel barely pays attention as he feels even more stressed.
He knows you are so strong, but he worries as there are six anomalies at the same time. Which could be attacking you at the same time.
“Lyla?” He calls her desperately.
“Yes, I know. There are a bunch of anomalies with y/n. I called you”
“Is she okay?”
“Let me check, but what are you doing here?” Miguel rolled his eyes.
“I need to locate the anomalies. And call for backup”
“Since it’s y/n. Everyone is available. They’re coming…” Suddenly, Peter, Mayday who was learning to walk now, Pavitr, Gwen, Miles, Penni, Noir, Jess, and Ben appeared.
“How the hell did the sinister six decide to attack y/n’s earth today?” Jess revealed the enemy and complained. A mission on Saturday morning, how annoying.
“Looks like Lightning finished her deal with them” Peter was the one who discovered the female electro for the first time. And he knew the woman constantly allied with them.
“What do we do?” Noir asks Miguel.
“Split into two groups. We don’t know which variants they are. And-…”
“Miguel?” Lyla interrupts. He only stares.
“I checked y/n’s suit vital signs. Slow blood pressure and high heartbeats. She’s not okay…” Miguel felt like he couldn’t breathe. And he didn’t think twice, he only repeated to the group to split, as he was the first one to leave.
Your New York was a chaos. The usual anomaly mess.
Jess, Noir, and Peter were fighting Kraven and Vulture, and Miles and Pavitr were focused on Mysterio. While near the waters, Penni and Miles were about to finish Sandman. With the help of Ben, Miguel had just finished with Doctor Octopus.
Because his head was distracted by the thought of you. He wonders how fast were you weakening. As you stated before that trying new abilities with your mind left you very tired.
He also worried that his words in the morning were making you fight worse. All those insecurities only grew as time passed and he wasn’t next to you yet.
Gwen was nowhere to be found. Until she appeared on Miguel’s gizmo.
“Miguel, I found her. Sixth Avenue, she’s fighting Electro. Hurry up!” Unbeknownst to him, Gwen had sneaked away from the fight to find you.
And to everyone’s unawareness, Gwen was highly worried about you. You were the first one to offer him a home after Miguel sent her home when all the problems with Miles started.
It was an issue once he discovered it. But you as the sweetest woman she ever met, made Miguel change his mind.
You were her role model, an older sister who stood up for her when no one did.
And now she feared losing you like she did with Peter. Now she had her dad back, but it would never take away what you did for her.
Electro had no mercy. Some of the electricity hitting you. The blonde girl balanced from a lamppost faster to reach you.
She abruptly stopped once she analyzed what you were doing. Something with your mind. Because you weren’t moving.
And like an invisible force protected you, it also weakened the villain.
As soon as Electro fell to the ground. Your web broke and you fell, unconscious.
Gwen gasped in horror, jumping to prevent you from dying.
Time seemed to pass like a flash. Gwen’s heart beat so fast that she was sweating as her hand was already positioned to catch you in the air.
Once her hands touched your body, Gwen knew she made it. She pulled you to her chest and balanced with you. Until she placed you on the grass in some secluded area of the park.
“No, no, no. Y/n…” Gwen was near the tears. She quickly searched for your pulse. And after confirming you were breathing, she felt less worried. But very stressed.
“Please. Be strong…” she said.
That’s when Miguel found you.
His mask immediately disintegrated to inspect you.
“She’s alive” Gwen soothes him. Give him some space to hold you.
“What happened?”
“She finished Electro with her mind. She must’ve passed out from the exertion. But I see she has bruises and her leg is extremely tense” the girl explained, with a broken voice.
“She’s gonna be fine, kid. I promise” Miguel knew how important you were to Gwen. He also had to be an adult and remain calm.
Even if deep down he was just as broken as Gwen after seeing your face with blood, bruises, and a weak appearance.
“Tell Miles and Penni to catch Electro” Gwen wiped her watery eyes and nodded. Giving you one last look, she shot a web and left.
“Lyla. Please scan her…” The AI appeared and applied some blue scans all over your body.
“Low oxygen levels and blood pressure, left leg is sprained, two ribs are swollen. Aside from that, she’s stable. We need to take her to the HQ” Miguel nodded, quickly turning off Lyla.
Miguel inspected you. And he smiled.
“I’ll never push you away again. Never…” he promised, carrying you in his arms before he opened a new portal.
You violently squirm once you move after opening your eyes.
Panic invades you as you don’t remember what happened.
“Hey. It’s okay…” you hear a voice. As soon you turn you see Miguel.
You’re in your bed. Distant voices can be heard.
“I don’t know what happened?” you ask, slowly sitting against the headboard. Ever the gentleman he is, Miguel pulls a bunch of pillows behind your back.
“The Sinister Six from your earth,” Miguel says. He remains looking at you, arms crossed and surprisingly he’s in normal clothes.
“Whatever you did to Electro, nearly killed him and it exhausted you. We took you to the HQ. You slept for a day and then we brought you home” You nod. A lot of questions still floating in your head.
You are mad at him, but how long?
“Do you know why they attacked?” Miguel nods.
“What Lightning from my earth said. They wanted to bring back a variant of The Spot” your stomach churns, and your cheeks heat in embarrassment.
“Are you hungry? Gwen invited everyone. I said she should let you rest. But she insisted you’d like to wake up with everyone here” he likes how you start smiling.
“She’s right.” Your hair is disheveled, lazy eyes and smile make you look adorable. Miguel wants to squeeze your cheeks and kiss you softly.
And he realizes that he had hurt you when all you wanted was to make him see the truth.
“If you let me. I’ll never push you away again, y/n” The subject change takes you by surprise.
“I felt so attached to you too. From the moment you appeared out of nowhere and changed my path,” you don’t say anything.
“Maybe I already loved you when you came back the second time. Every moment with you is comforting. You helped me, even if you didn’t owe me anything” his words are taking you on a curve. Hearing him open his heart would leave you a mess of tears.
“And that night. You appeared to that restaurant looking so fucking beautiful. You kissed me and I knew I had already won. I meant it when I said I love you.” his voice is smooth, you sense the honesty. He sits at the edge of your mattress, beside you.
“The only reason why I said those awful things was because I thought that would push you away enough to stay away from a mistake like me. And all the chaos I bring whenever I go” he explains, asking permission to hold your hand. His long fingers play with your knuckles, and it comforts him more than ever.
“You are not a mistake. You are so brave and strong. You kept going after all the horrible things that happened to you. And you dared to fall in love with me. Why would you push me away? When I know we’re meant to be together” silence fills the room. It’s only you crying in silence and Miguel in your chest.
“Can you forgive and give me another chance?” You nod, pulling him closer to kiss him.
“Yes. But you should know I want a loyal, loving, honest, and devoted partner”
“Ay, querida. Right now I only have eyes for a woman, and that’s you. And I know as long as you’re alive, my feelings will remain the same” he accepts another kiss.
“Now let me get ready to have a nice dinner with our friends” Miguel had come to accept the bunch of spiders in your place, where his friends were too. They made you happy, and they cared for him.
“You should rest” Miguel warned you as he saw you jumó out of bed.
“You had a sprained leg and two injured ribs, y/n” you shrug, taking a dress out of your closet.
“I feel amazing. And I’m just taking a shower. You can sit in the toilet and wait for me” Miguel changed his demeanor. He had time to smirk and feel cheeky about it.
“I thought you said I’ll never see you naked again” You roll your eyes.
“We can still do that” Miguel hurried to get inside the bathroom and patiently sat on the toilet. He looked like a giant among your cosmetics, shampoos, and colorful towels.
“I oppose,” he says making you laugh. With his help, he removes the bandages on your leg and helps you get inside the shower.
You like that the makeup was fast, and straight to the point. You two were compromised to work for a future together.
You were okay with it.
Penni is the first person to hug you once you enter the backyard of the apartment.
Then Margo who you hadn’t seen in weeks but Gwen moved her to hold you tightly.
“I was so worried. And I hope you don’t mind this little party. I thought you would want to be surrounded by friends and-“
“Gwen, it’s perfect. Thank you” You soothe her anxiety hugging her back.
But you start laughing when you spot Peter and Pavitr on the grill, cooking some steak and vegetables.
“Really? I was passed out and you two are grilling?”
“But it’s for you…” Peter defends himself. You laugh, a squeak of excitement filling the backyard when Noir hands you not-so-baby Mayday.
“Mayday, my big baby!” She coos and says random words.
“Baby…” she says holding her doll.
“Yeah, it’s a baby” you confirm giggling.
During the whole interaction, Miguel is behind you holding your hips. In his defense, he didn’t want you to apply much pressure with your post-injured leg.
Mayday places the baby in your lower belly, cooing.
“Baby” the little girl repeats. You blush and Miguel looks awkwardly.
“Oh…” you manage to say.
“Little girl is implying something” Jess intervenes, laughing teasingly.
“Not yet, Jess” Miguel says.
“Not yet?” Your shocked tone makes him laugh while he rubs your back.
“That’s what usually happens when you plan on marrying someone” he whispers in your ear and your cheeks could explode from how red they were.
“There’s a baby in my arms, O’Hara” Mayday seemed to preoccupied with throwing webs at the sky. However, you just wanted to mess with Miguel. You let Mayday walk around the grass, and soon Miles goes after her.
“Hopefully one in your belly soon” you almost choke.
“You’re so annoying. Who would’ve thought?” He hears your stomach churn again as soon the steak smell fills the air.
He shrugs proudly.
“What do you say then? We can disappear for a couple of months to have some time together. Would you marry me?” Neither of you knew what had possessed Miguel to be so chill and open. He meant it. He wanted to call you his wife. Put a ringer on your finger, wear your initials on his neck, and make you the mother of his children.
“Would you cut the steak in strips for me?” He couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Yes, I can do that for you, y/n”
“Then yes. I’ll marry you.” He kisses you without shame. Nobody notices though.
You take a seat on the little patio furniture and you breathe.
Everyone is happy. You look at Miguel, who’s with Peter and Pavitr on the grill, they’re talking and the others are scattered doing random things.
But you look at him. You would do anything for him, you could forgive him because he would never intentionally hurt you. You could hate everything and everyone, but him.

Drunk Words Are Sober Thoughts Pt. 2
Tumblr media
Summary: After kissing your coworker while incredibly drunk. You now have to deal with the consequences.
A/N: @thefoxfromfantasticmrfox suggested a part two to the one-shot from the other day so here it is. Sorry, this post is a little late, btw. Find part one here!
Word Count: 1.2k
Song Suggestions: Back To December (Taylor's Version) by Taylor Swift
Your morning alarm went off and you let out a groan while shutting it off. It’s New Year’s day, why is it you still had to work?
The pounding in your head did not make it any better but you managed to get to work somewhat on time but, incredibly tired. Slumping down at your desk drinking a coffee you can already sense Derek’s chair spinning around.
“Well someone had a little too much fun last night. What got into you?” He laughed to which you replied with an annoyed grunt. “Okay, okay. I get it, someone’s a little grumpy.”
“When I have enough energy I am going to smack you Derek.” You heard some footsteps behind you and turned in your seat to see Spencer walking in. He didn’t drink last night yet he still seemed more unwell then you did. You had a vague memory of him taking you home last night but he seemed strange, he barely looked at you and sat down practically ignoring everyone.
“What’d you do last night pretty boy? I didn’t see you drinking yet you look worse than Y/N here.” You cut in with a little comment before drinking some more coffee. Spencer just nodded to Derek while looking at a book. Something was off for sure. His book had been open to the same page for almost two minutes.
“Spence you okay?” You sat up a little more straight and looked at him a little more seriously. Before he could answer, Hotch motioned everyone to come get briefed for a case.
***
The case was in New York, you and Spencer were told to work on the geo-profile and talk to victims' families. What that meant was you were both crammed into a small room in a police station working together while there was uncomfortable tension between you two.
After almost two hours of him almost completely ignoring you, you decided to speak up. “Did I say something last night? I don’t remember much other than you taking me home. I feel like I did something and you won’t tell me what it is, Spence. I’m sorry if I did something.” He stayed silent for a minute then put down whatever was in his hands.
“You really don’t remember?” The emotions in his face almost seemed…disappointed. “I’m not upset with you. I got home late and couldn't sleep, that's all.” He sighed, almost like he was debating what to say. “If you want me to be honest, all you said last night was just some embarrassing things you did as a kid. I don’t even remember what you said exactly.”
“Oh, okay…” You tried to seem like you believed him. He was obviously lying but he also clearly didn’t want to talk about it. You decided it would be best to go back to working and give him space.
While also trying to figure out whatever you did last night.
***
The team had just presented the profile and finished up what you could do today which meant it was time to go back to the hotel until tomorrow.
You were much more clear-headed now and some things from last night were coming back, but none of them had anything to do with Spencer. You had been thinking about it almost the whole day and now you were honestly concerned about what you did. Spencer was one of your best friends and if you said something to ruin all of that?
Swiping your keycard to open your room something finally clicked and you were shocked.
In a moment of drunken boldness, you wrap your hands around his neck and press your lips against his. He’s shocked and stumbles back a little, not sure what to do. You can feel his arm wrap around your waist tightly. After a couple of seconds, you let go and stagger backwards, smiling. “Happy New Year’s.”
“Oh my god…” Whispering to yourself, you stood in the doorway almost frozen. Not sure what to do. Before your brain could even catch up with what you were doing, you were running down the hall to Spencer’s room. When you started knocking on the door, you panicked because you didn’t even know what you were going to say.
“What is it? Oh…Y/N.” There he stood. Your coworker and best friend. The silence was long, you didn’t know what to say or how to say it but luckily he did it for you. The expression on your face told him that you knew. “You remember, don't you?”
“Yeah, I do. I’m so sorry, Spence. I don't know what came over me and it’s not fair that I did that and you had to deal with it all today. I just…I’m sorry.” He stood there just listening before making way for you to move inside the room and shutting the door behind you. Just in case someone heard. “Can I do anything to make it up to you?”
“Did you mean it?” His question came out blunt and caught you guard.
“What?”
“Did you mean it? Did it mean something to you or were you just drunk and didn’t know any better? I need you to answer me because honestly, I need to know the truth. I’ve spent all day trying to figure out if maybe there were some actual feelings behind what you did and if you don’t tell me…then I don’t know what else to say. I know you were drunk and didn’t know any better but that still doesn’t make up for what it meant to me. I like you, a lot. But if that didn’t mean anything to you I get it. Just tell me, did it mean anything to you?” You were taken aback by his question, not sure how to answer. He must’ve thought your silence meant that you didn’t mean it and his face fell. “Oh…okay. You know what, I’m actually really tired so it’s probably best if you just left…”
“Yes.”
“Yes what?”
“It didn’t mean anything. But it means something to me now. I regret doing that because I didn’t want this to be found out like that. I’m sorry that it’s gone this way. I like you too, a lot. So yeah, it means everything to me.” The words came out desperate, like you needed to say it or else you would never forgive yourself. Because, he meant everything to you. “And I get if what I did ruined everything. I understand if you won’t forgive me because what I didn’t wasn’t fair to you. And I’m sorry I keep saying the same thing over and over-”
Your sentence was cut off by his hands cupping your face and kissing you. You froze before kissing him back. After a couple seconds he stepped back, catching his breath and moving his hands from your face. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
“Shut up.”
“Huh?”
“Just, shut up and kiss me.” Saying that he paused but then listened. Leaning down and kissing you again. The feeling of his hand around your face and your lips against his was what you needed. What you both needed. Everything from last night didn’t matter anymore.

DAYLIGHT ㅤㅤㅤ
Pairing: Leigh Shaw x female reader Summary: 'Sunflower' prequel. Read that first, if you want. You and the love of your life meet for the first time, you don't know everything that awaits you. Leigh Shaw is a tropical storm. This is also part of a request, thank you sweet anon. ㅤㅤㅤ    warnings: ansgt, mentions of death, alcoholism. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤPART I
Tumblr media
Her gaze was lost on the ceiling, perhaps for twenty minutes until the alarm went off. The dark circles under her eyes showed how much it was difficult for her to sleep lately.
Y/N sighed heavily.
ㅤㅤ
She got up from the bed and went to the bathroom to take a nice hot shower. Some melancholic eyes were reflected in the mirror, she watched the scars on her body while she undressed.
ㅤㅤ
Didn't even feel like making breakfast, she just left the apartment and walked to the nearest coffee shop. Waited patiently in line until she could chat with the barista for a moment while waited for a large latte and a delicious bagel.
She took her time finishing it, listening to some music through her headphones for half an hour until she decided to leave.
ㅤㅤ Even though the barista gave Y/N her number, it didn't matter too much. She just got back on her Iron 883 and drove to the Los Angeles Fire Department, Station 12.
Some of her coworkers greeted her, surprised and happy to see her again. Everyone except her boss, who turned to see her quite surprised.
ㅤㅤ
“What did I tell you?” The man in his sixties grunted, shaking his head as he signed some papers.
ㅤㅤ “I have to go back to work.” Y/N sighed, ready to fight for what she wanted this time. “I've already learned whatever lesson you're giving me.”
ㅤㅤ All her life she dreamed of being a firefighter, of being able to help people and being in that very place where she was standing. Years of preparation, mental and physical sacrifice, her heart belonged to that place, how could she not be there?
ㅤㅤ “You can’t do it unless-” He was going to repeat the usual but Y/N cut him off.
ㅤㅤ “Cut the crap, chief.”
ㅤㅤ “Y/N.” He scolded her, looking up. With a single look it was enough for Y/N to know that she fucked it up. She swallowed.  “I have told you many times, you have to go to the meetings or I can't let you come back.”
ㅤㅤ
“It's stupid!” Y/N raised her voice, so annoyed. “I don't need those stupid meetings, what I need is to get back to work.”
ㅤㅤ
“Y/N, I know what it's like to deal with loss. Trust me, I've worked here my whole fucking life.” ㅤㅤ
“Chief, please…” ㅤㅤ
“Tonight. Grief support group, Y/L/N. I need you SOBER and better than this. Last chance.” Her boss watched her and didn't back down even a step. She knew perfectly well that those were the rules and it was necessary.
ㅤㅤ
If she wanted to get back to her job, her life, she had to do what she had to do to earn it. Life is about one sacrifice after another, after all.
ㅤㅤ
“FUCK!” was heard in that place when Y/N left the place in a hurry, completely furious.
ㅤㅤ
Tumblr media
“So… that was what happened.” That young man explained, surrounded by the group of people.  He seemed quite sad but felt better when he noticed that everyone was listening to him, not ignoring his pain.
ㅤㅤ
“Thanks for share with us.” They all said, surprising Y/N, who awkwardly joined in.
ㅤㅤ
“I'm glad you could express that to us, James.” The moderator of the group, Janet, smiled kindly, turning to see the new person joining them today.  “Today someone joins us and it's always good to welcome you. Do you want to introduce yourself?”
ㅤㅤ
“Umh… I’m not-” Y/N stammered awkwardly, feeling all eyes on her. Her heart raced, she could feel it. The firefighter hated being the center of attention, but she had to do this if she wanted to go back to the Station.
ㅤㅤ
“My name is Y/N Y/L/N, I'm not from Los Angeles… I mean, I wasn't born here, but I live here in L.A” She cleared her throat somewhat nervously, settling in the chair. “My job asks me to do it, and- and I love my job. And it doesn't bother me, I got used to this nice place.”
ㅤㅤ
“Even if it's a bit hot.” She teased, making some laugh. “I… umh-”
ㅤㅤ
They all expected to know more, they seemed like wild animals waiting for a part of the prey. Or at least that was how she saw it.
Silence flooded the place, Y/N remained thoughtful for a moment. Her gaze was lost somewhere in the room, but she just couldn't hear or say anything.
Just relive that memory, so tragic.
ㅤㅤ
And despite the fact that she wanted to keep talking, Y/N was unable to continue. As if anguish took her by the neck, she just frowned and shook her head.
Swallowing hard, the dark-haired woman just listened to the testimonies of each person who wanted to open up and express the pain they felt.
ㅤㅤ
When she was asked again if she wanted to say something else, Y/N just shook her head slowly and remained silent. It was typical, especially for someone attending for the first time. ㅤㅤ
As soon as that meeting ended, Y/N approached the coffee table in that room so she could pour herself some nice steaming cup and run away as soon as she had the chance. Y/N didn’t want to look so desperate or they would discover the truth. She was just using this meeting to go back the job.
ㅤㅤㅤ    After having a steaming cup of coffee, she turned ready to leave but ended up colliding with a brown-haired woman with lovely but melancholy green eyes. Though thanks to her skills, didn’t spill even a single drop of coffee.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Oh, I’m sorry.” The girl apologized, muttering something a bit embarrassed but didn’t care much either. Something that caught Y/N’s attention, completely out of this world.
ㅤㅤㅤ
The woman in front of her, a downcast gaze looking at her phone, atractive and charming features.
ㅤㅤㅤ
ㅤㅤㅤ    “No, I’m sorry. I didn’t saw you…” Y/N mumbled softly, noticing how the woman tucked one of her strands of hair behind her ear.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Feeling completely stunned by the beauty. Even with a half-done bun and hoodies, she was… different. Interesting. Hot as fuck, yes, but… gorgeous. Those huge green eyes caught her attention, a somewhat adorable nose and the fact that she was shorter than her.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Hi… I’m Y/N .” Said the taller woman finally, holding out her hand so they could shake it. That gesture made the green eyed stranger smile, maybe surprised by her desire to socialize.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I’m Leigh.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Nice to meet you, Leigh.” Y/N smiled widely, nodding a bit. Something that Leigh thought was adorable. A big dork, again. “Sorry, I wanted some coffee.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“And I wanted a donut, although the ones here aren’t so good tho…” Leigh whispered, wrinkling her nose, making Y/N’s heart to start pounding faster. “You’re new here. I haven’t seen you before, welcome.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N swallowed hard again, both began to walk together towards the exit. She just nodded, giving Leigh a chance to speak again. Maybe the brunette might socialize a bit, her mother and Jules always insisted so much. Surely would later regret it later.
Or maybe not.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I understand the feeling, it’s kind of intimidating.” Leigh shrugged.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Yeah… it’s something… it makes you feel exposed.” Y/N babbled  then opened the door for Leigh to go through first. They both talked for a while until Y/N couldn’t take it anymore. “Umh… Do you promise that if I tell you something you won’t get mad?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Promise.” Leigh smiled and raised her hand, it was incredible how they barely knew each other and they got along, even being quite friendly with that stranger.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“This isn’t the AA group by any chance, is it?” Y/N bit her bottom lip to hide a guilty and somewhat regretful smile.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“No, it’s not…that’s Wednesday at 6 pm.” Leigh frowned, somewhat amused. Of course she knew because Jules attended every Wednesday.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Yeah… I realized that when everyone started talking and I… was embarrassed to leave. When I started listening to everyone talk about their losses, I felt really bad about it. I mean, I came to talk about how I couldn’t feel comfortable on birthdays or Christmas…”
She lied, again. It was so much better than having to explain, she wasn't going back to that damn meeting anyway. She would tell her boss that she did go, present evidence, and then goodbye.
ㅤㅤㅤ
And although that would surely end up annoying Leigh so bad, and she would surely get mad for feeling so exposed by telling her story to someone who wasn’t even there for it, Y/N smiled when Leigh started laughing.
ㅤㅤㅤ
It wasn’t a fake laugh, it was a pretty genuine laugh. And Y/N loved it. Y/N completely fell in love with it.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“It would be worse if you said ‘I only came here for coffee’.” Leigh joked. “Hi, I’m Y/N and I just came here for coffee and to see your sad mopey faces…” ㅤㅤㅤ    Y/N laughed somewhat surprised, glad that the brunette didn’t get mad at her.
ㅤㅤㅤ    “Maybe I do, the anguish revitalizes me and makes me younger. In fact, I am about fifty-two years old.” Y/N continued, walking together out of that building. Without even thinking about it, both were walking side by side, keeping each other company through the streets of Los Angeles. She took a sip from her cup but the coffee was cold. “This isn’t the best coffee tho, but it’s not that bad either…”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Leigh thought for a moment, the sound of cars and footsteps made her lose herself. She strangely felt comfortable with a stranger she hadn’t known more than a few minutes ago. How many times that happened in her whole life? Maybe just one.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Would you like to go to a place where both things are better? Coffee and donuts.” Leigh finally asked as she snatched the coffee out of her hand and tossed it into the nearest trash can.
ㅤㅤㅤ    Surprised at that, Y/N simply nodded and followed Leigh who seemed to know a good coffee place that was open 24 hours. ㅤㅤㅤ
Tumblr media
“So…” Y/N settled into her seat while she put two tablespoons of sugar in her coffee. “How long have you been in the group?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“A year? I think so…” Leigh wrinkled her nose. “It’s not so bad, I know it's hard to start, but then... it helps.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Does it? Well, she wasn't going to deny that it helped to be able to share the pain with people who understand that too. Although at first she refused a lot.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“They seem like a pretty nice group of people.” Y/N nodded slowly. “Why are you there?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Perhaps that question was more direct than expected, Y/N cursed herself. Silence for a moment was an answer enough.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Sorry, I was too… you know. I… I'm not used to socializing yet.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“It’s okay… I lost my husband a year ago.” Leigh set her coffee cup on the table and licked her lips. “It was quite a difficult time for me.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I’m sorry.” She sighed, seeing how Leigh just nodded, surely tired of hearing those words over and over again. 'Im sorry, sorry for your loss'. That’s exhausting. For a year, each person who crosses your path repeating how sorry they are. For what? They didn't kill Matt. He did. Or the cliff, whatever.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“I wasn't looking just for the AA meeting.”  Y/N added, opening up to someone else for the first time. “I mean, I was too. I needed to go to one, but also… I did... I did lose someone. Two.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N cleared her throat, holding that cup with her hands. “It's more complicated than it seems.”
She lowered her gaze.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I see.” Leigh muttered. She didn't know what to say, Leigh wasn't the most talkative person in the world either. But the woman seemed nice, ever since she stopped talking to Becca it had been hard to socialize. Well, it always was.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I try to fool myself and people that I don't need it. I don't need to get over that loss because I already did, I mean, that's it, they’re dead but…” The dark-haired woman narrowed her eyes. “I didn't.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Leigh tried to smile but it just seems like an awkward expression, failing completely. She just stretched out her hand to squeeze that stranger's hand and then leaned back in her seat.
The song from the radio seemed to help with the long silence.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“What’s the most weird or embarrassing song on your playlist?” Y/N finally broke the silence, an utterly bold move.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“What?” Leigh frowned without understanding, maybe a smiling a bit because of how random that was.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Come on, are you afraid that I'll laugh?” Y/N challenged her, raising an eyebrow and smiling mischievously. “What's your guilty pleasure, Leigh Shaw?” She read the name tag on the brunette's jacket.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Far from bothering her, Leigh gladly accepted the challenge.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Barbie Girl by Aqua.” Leigh smiled victoriously. “You?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I never told you that I would tell you.” She teased, drinking her latte. “The baby shark song.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Come on!”  Leigh giggled.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Spice Up Your Life by Spice Girls. Oh, I love it.” Y/N shrugged and drank some of her coffee. “What Taylor Swift era are you in if you had to pick one?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Oh, I don’t like Taylor Swift.” Leigh said trying to look disinterested but seeing Y/N's look, she just laughed. “Just kidding. Umh… I think I’m… Reputation?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Yeah, you totally look like Rep.” Y/N nodded slowly.  “If you were an animal what would you be?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I- I don’t know.” The brunette licked her lips after finishing her coffee.  “Umh… maybe a… a bird. I could fly away, that's it.” She shrugged.  “What about you?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I would be a panda.” Y/N leaned back in her seat, narrowing her eyes as if she had made the best decision of her life, trying to make her laugh. And she did it.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Cute and fat. Nice.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“And a loner, and really pissed off. Pandas look cute but they are always angry.”
"It must be the huge dark circles that don't let us see them."
ㅤㅤㅤ
And though she didn't want to admit it, Leigh seemed to be having a good time with this woman. Maybe a bit slow at first but Y/N seemed cool, and it might help if she knows someone in the grief group.
Between giggles and some weird but interesting questions, they both spent the time trying to get to know each other. And time goes by fast when you feel at ease.
Leigh told her that she was a writer, working on a book for some time but hadn't known how to continue.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N told her that she was having a 'break' from her job, as if her wounded ego wouldn't let her reveal that she wasn't allowed back unless she took a step away from alcoholism, self-hatred and pain.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Hey, Leigh… Umh… Do you know what is white, black, white, black, black and white?” Y/N narrowed her eyes, hoping Leigh would fall for it.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Mmm, no.” Leigh narrowed her eyes.  “Piano keys?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“A panda falling down the stairs.” Y/N bit her lower lip to keep from laughing at how stupid that joke sounded.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Despite the fact that that joke was pretty bad, Leigh began to laugh little by little, shaking her head. They both burst out laughing; the connection between the two of them had been instant and the warmth of the moment felt so genuine.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Finally someone was bursting her bubble in an unexpected way and it terrified her. Suddenly Leigh felt a deep pang in her chest. Her eyes filled with tears for a second, remembering the first time she met Matt.
What was she doing? What was she doing in that place?
ㅤㅤㅤ
The smile on Leigh's lips faded so quickly that it made Y/N's heart skip a beat. Did she say something wrong maybe?
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Sorry, I-I've to go.” Leigh babbled getting up from her chair and taking her jacket.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Surprised -and maybe a bit sad-, Y/N just nodded quickly.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Of course, yeah.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
She got up and stood in front of the brunette, looking into her green eyes for a moment. They didn't know what to say, just feeling that connection and having to cut it off was so… sad.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“It was nice to meet you.” Leigh smiled nervously and grabbed her bag, turning to walk towards the door.  “See you in the group next week.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“See you, Shaw.” Y/N murmured, sitting back in the chair and looking thoughtful as she looked at her empty cup. This was not what she expected, not at all.
Was she doing something wrong? Had she gone too far? She'd just made her laugh! Leigh was beautiful but she wasn't trying to… push her.
ㅤㅤㅤ
What was she going to do there anyway? Y/N took her keys and her jacket and left the café, to go back home before it was late. Maybe tomorrow would be a different day.
ㅤㅤㅤ
But when she returned home, loneliness invaded her completely. Like a dark misterious being, caught her i its cloak, drowning her in misery. That desolate apartment made Y/N’s heart slowly sink.
Y/N took a deep breath and walked to the fridge, seeing only thing she had was beer cans and some old food.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N took the beer to the sink, looking at them for a moment.
ㅤㅤㅤ
What to do? What to feel? She needed to drown all those negative feelings inside of her, and the only way to numb them was... that.
But unlike other heartbreaking nights, now there was something else on her mind. Something that aroused her interest, even if she didn't know it yet.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N took the beers and one by one poured them into the sink, letting them go. Part of her said no, leave some, at least one in case someone ever came along or something. Or drink just one and throw everything Or perhaps better drink one and throw away all the rest, one more. The last one.
ㅤㅤㅤ
She tilted her head to see the photograph on the nearest cabinet, an adorable photograph of her and two other women, hugging in front of the beach. One was redhead and the other brunette. The three of them laughed, making funny faces. ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N remembered the time Nat and Jules invited her to go to the beach that weekend, although Y/N refused saying that they should 'make it a romantic trip', they just wanted to spend time with her.
That weekend they spent one of the best days of her life, ending it with that photograph in a beautiful sunset in front of the beach.
ㅤㅤㅤ
This is what they would have wanted.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Sighing, Y/N dropped the rest of the beers and took the phone to order something to eat, other than a piece of cheese and bread. And although she didn't want to think about it, that night Y/N lay in bed thinking about that woman, and that perhaps it wouldn't be bad to visit the group again next week.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Tumblr media
“Anyone else want to share something with us?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Thomas?” Janet asked but the man just shook his head, he wasn't ready to do it. Now the gaze of Janet fell on her. Y/N settled into her seat, surely Janet noticed how she moved her leg anxiously.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Y/N? Would you like to tell us something?” Her voice was so warm that Y/N had to stop herelf from telling her to fuck off for it.
ㅤㅤㅤ It had been quite a difficult week. Y/N believed that by throw away every bottle and presenting a paper that said that she attended ONE meeting, her boss was going to accept it, but it wasn’t like that at all.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Swallowing, she just tilted her gaze. “I’m angry.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Being angry is good, it's good to allow ourselves positive but also negative feelings.” Janet nodded, and the others around her did the same. All those looks on her, just made it feel like some kind of experiment.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I’m so angry. Because I want to go back to my life, to my work and I have to be here.” She let out again, not knowing why she was saying all that. Y/N just knew that every word was escaping from her mouth and couldn't control it.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Everyone around her listened attentively, including Leigh, who was in front of her with a coffee in her hand.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Everyone looking at me like I'm a fucking guinea pig or something. Okay, wanna know? Let's see... I lost my whole life thanks to alcoholism.” Y/N frowned, thinking how far she had come. How is it that everything changed so much from one moment to the next? “And I fell into alcoholism because I lost my sister and my best friend at the same time. Also my parents treated me like shit.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Leigh, who was staring at her, felt a little sorry, understanding the woman a bit more now. Everyone there did it, in their own way, everyone suffered an irreparable loss but slowly they tried to heal.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“My sister died a short time ago. Sh- she wasn't my biological sister, but she was my sister.” Y/N sighed deeply, entering a rather complicated field. Her lip twitched. “As I said, a year ago.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Everyone listened carefully and said nothing, when someone opened up like that it was important that they feel heard.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Julia.” Y/N swallowed at the thought of her best friend, her sister. “That was her name, we called her Jules, she was wonderful. A lovely human being, she had a lovely wife too. They died… and I'm here.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
That name made Leigh look at her, having her full attention. As if fate somehow played a trick on them. ㅤㅤㅤ
“We were together since elementary school, always… She was there for me more than anyone.” You could tell that talking about it hurt deeply, Y/N swallowed and narrowed her eyes several times to keep from crying. “Even when I said that my dream was to be a firefighter, she decided to come along and support me. Although she chose to be a paramedic, so we could be together.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N felt her lips tremble and how those eyes filled with tears but she tried to stay strong because she couldn't cry in front of all those people, could she? Come on. ㅤㅤㅤ “There was a gas leak in a building... then there was a big explosion.  We were there.” Tears began to fall but she was too exhausted to wipe them away or hide them. “She and her wife Nat died… They died and I’m here.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
She hated having to be the center of attention, feeling like an 'attention whore' or something. But once she started expressing what she felt, she couldn't stop. Because she no longer had anyone to talk to.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I’m still here and I sometimes I hate it.” She sniffled. "If we were a team… why didn't they take me too?"
ㅤㅤㅤ “I spent so much time thinking that… that maybe I'm just crazy. That maybe she's not gone. She’ll come around the corner any second, smiling at me.” Y/N smiled at the memory that came to mind.  “Ma- Making fun of how I usually breathe through my mouth when I eat, she says I look like a fish out of water.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N laughed through tears.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Since that day my head has not stopped telling me that it is better to get away from everyone before they abandon me.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
She felt a soft hand resting on her shoulder and for a moment she thought about leaving, but seeing that the old lady only wanted to comfort her, Y/N just let it happen.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“And I'm mad at myself and everyone.”  Y/N looked down. “Especially my boss who won't let me go back to work and be able to save people. That’s it.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Thank you, Y/N. For your sacrifice and for sharing this with us.”  Janet said and they all repeated again, nodding.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“It is important to be able to express what we feel in order to move forward.” Janet smiled kindly. “Denial and anger are two huge steps towards acceptance.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Sighing deeply and managing to calm down, Y/N nodded and dried her tears with a tissue that the kind old lady offered her, making the woman smile a bit.
After the group finished, Y/N left the place feeling the load on her back slightly lessen. Not much, but enough to take the first step out of darkness.
ㅤㅤㅤ
She noticed how Leigh waited, sitting on the stairs. Scrolling down her phone.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Hey.” The brunette stood up when she saw her, smiling kindly.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Hey, Shaw.” Y/N stood next to her, her heart beats faster but she told herself that it was surely because she was crying before. “Did you run out of gasoline?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“No, I just took an Uber today, I didn't feel like driving.” Leigh wrinkled her nose and crossed her arms, as she began to walk with Y/N. “I'm glad you could express what you feel.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Sure.” Y/N smirked, while playing with the keys of her motorcycle.  “Crying like a child in front of a group of people I don't know isn't too bad.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“But do you feel better?” Leigh arched an eyebrow.
ㅤㅤㅤ
They stopped when Y/N reached her motorcycle and she got on it. “Yeah…”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Oh, this is yours?” Leigh pointed at the motorcycle in surprise.  “I thought it was from some bearded drunk old man who mistook this place for a biker bar.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
The brunette joked and within seconds she realized what she just said, but Y/N just bit her lower lip trying not to laugh.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Sorry, too soon for someone recovering from… alcoholism. Fuck.” Leigh had always been too direct and perhaps a little cruel at times, even if she didn't want to.
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N finally laughed at that joke, holding the helmet in her hands. “It’s okay, it wasn’t that bad. I’m not a baby.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Good then.” Leigh turned to walk away but stopped to say something else. “Y/N?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Yeah?” She looked up as she started the bike and made it roar.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“How can you want to save someone if you don't do something to save yourself?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Perhaps one of the best questions she had ever heard. Leigh raised an eyebrow and smiled victoriously.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“What are you some kind of cheap shrink or something?” Y/N growled.
ㅤㅤㅤ Leigh shrugged. “I have an advice column on a website. That must give me some kind of value to my words, right?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Y/N gave a small laugh. “Yeah, it shows.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Sighing deeply, Y/N handed the helmet to the brunette who looked at her blankly.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Come on, sunflower.” Y/N made the bike roar, but Leigh still didn't move. That nickname made her narrow her eyes, not knowing how to take it.  “I'll take you home, okay?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“I'm not going to get on that.” Leigh rolled her eyes, she was definitely not going to get on a bike with a stranger -not so stranger- and much less at night. What was she? One of those bitches from Grand Theft Auto?
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Come on! It's dark and the Ubers will take time, plus you could get any psycho here.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
Sighing in defeat, Leigh snatched the helmet from her hands in complete annoyance. Y/N helped and when she was ready, she drove through the city to the brunette's house.
It wasn't too far from her house, so that wasn't too bad.
Once they arrived, Leigh hurried to get off the motorcycle and removed her helmet, afraid someone would see her. Especially her nosy mother or sister.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Thank you.” Leigh said quickly, arranging her hair a bit.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“You are welcome.” The dark-haired woman smiled and nodded. “Not bad for a biker.”
ㅤㅤㅤ
But far from laughing, Leigh just rolled her eyes and then saw how Y/N started her motorcycle again, ready to go.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Why?” the brunette asked, making Y/N to look at her, confused.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Why what?”
ㅤㅤㅤ
“Why did you call me sunflower?” She frowned blankly. She had to know or her doubt would eat her up all week.
ㅤㅤㅤ
But this time, the one who smiled victoriously was Y/N.
ㅤㅤㅤ
“See you next week, Shaw.” She just looked straight ahead and drove away from that house, leaving Leigh behind.

A chronological analysis on Twilight and Yor - Part 22
*This is part of an ongoing post series. If you missed the Introduction/Part 1, click here*
----------
The highly thematic and well-choreographed scene of Yor slaughtering one assassin after another as fireworks dazzle the night sky, reminded me of this fascinating post by @crunchcrunchteacakes. The post theorizes about the origins of Yor's incredible strength, particularly how she uses some form of altered state of consciousness (ASC) to achieve such a powerful command over her physical abilities. This is why her expression always seems "darker," almost like she's in a trance, whenever she's fully concentrated on feats of strength, not just during assassin work, but similar tasks that require the same strength, like when she subdued the Eden cow.
Tumblr media
The post goes on to speculate that the reason she often seems ditzy or "spaced out" is because that's a way for her to disengage from her conscious mind, allowing her to channel her strength as needed. She's almost fully in her trance-like state at the beginning of the series (her "robotic" look that annoyed her coworkers). But once she joined the Forgers, taking on the role of Loid's wife and Anya's mother, the desire to concentrate on that mindset more often overrides her need to keep her strength peaked. Thoughts of Loid and Anya are now what can pull her out of her ASC, as we saw previously when she was keeping watch over the room at night, only for her "trance" to break when she thought about meeting up with them. But unfortunately, those thoughts can also be a hindrance when she's deep into a fight with a powerful opponent. This happened to a minor degree when she realized she was dragging her feet when fighting Barnaby, but as she fights the swordsman assassin, her lapse in concentration allows him to get the upper hand.
Tumblr media
The moral ambiguity I mentioned in Part 21 is highlighted further when the assassin leader tries to call a truce with Yor, saying that he'll give her a share of the bounty money. Yor requests that he give up on Olka's bounty so there won't be any further bloodshed, something I find interesting since she didn't hesitate to kill all the other assassins without any negotiating. So the fact that she's willing to let the leader go proves that she doesn't just mindlessly kill everyone on a mission (even though that's what she was instructed to do). She's also staying true to what she said before that if you point a weapon at someone, you shouldn't complain if one is pointed back at you…since the leader wasn't on the attack in this case, she was willing to hear him out.
Tumblr media
However, when she refuses his deal, he reminds her that they're all just people hired to fight on someone else's behalf, and her reason for killing – to put food on the table – is the same as all the other assassins. As Yor fights the swordsman, the thought that's holding her back this time is not only that a serious injury would mean she'd have to leave Loid and Anya, but how cruel it would be to them for her to suddenly disappear without a word. While the assassin leader continues to try and negotiate with her, she can't help but keep questioning her own reason for fighting – she doesn't want to believe it's for money, the same as theirs, so then it must be for her country…but she never thought she had some higher calling like that.
Tumblr media
All these uncertainties distract her, resulting in the swordsman being able to knock her against the side of the deck. Surprisingly, as he stands poised, ready to cut her down, all Yor can think of in her dazed state is not her assassin job that's currently being sabotaged, but her mother/wife jobs of picking up Loid's shirts from the cleaners and returning Anya's books to the library…a clear indication that, when it comes down to her final moments, the responsibilities of Yor Forger have become more of a priority than the responsibilities of Thorn Princess. As Rebecca Silverman put it in this ANN article:
"She's more than just a big sister and an assassin now; she's a mother, a wife, and a person in her own right. Yuri's grown up, but Yor has too, and it feels like this is the moment when she realizes that she has a say in her own life. And if she wants to focus on being Mrs. Forger instead of Thorn Princess? That's a choice she's allowed to make."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When she comes back to reality for a moment, wondering why there's a man pointing a sword at her, what flashes in her mind is the reason she's in this situation in the first place: Yuri. But once again, the realization that's been hitting her over and over since getting the cruise assignment comes back one last time…Yuri is indeed all grown up and does not need support from her Garden work anymore. What's extremely tragic when this fact finally sinks in is that she's ready to die then and there…she decides not to resist and just end it all now that her main reason for fighting is gone.
Tumblr media
As I've mentioned several times before, especially in Part 8, Yor dedicated her life to ensure Yuri's happiness, which resulted in her inability to consider her own worth besides being useful to others. Now that no one needs the one thing she excels at, she can't find any reason to keep going. Whether Garden brainwashed her into deeming her life meaningless without a reason for fighting, her crippling lack of self-esteem, or some combination of both, it's even more tragic that she can't even comprehend how sad certain people would be if she died. However, when it appears as though she's completely given up, upon hearing that the assassin leader is about to go after Olka, she throws one of her earrings at him to stop him.
Tumblr media
She had just decided to stop resisting upon realizing that Yuri doesn't need her work anymore, so why would she suddenly care to stop the assassin? She seems confused about it as well, as she questions herself why she's even protecting Olka. I believe at this point she's formed a genuine bond with Olka as more than just a client to protect. So, despite still being dazed, she instinctively reacted upon realizing Olka was in danger. But the true reason why she hasn't completely given up becomes clear to her when she remembers Olka's words: "I just want to live a quiet, peaceful life."

A quiet, peaceful life…this is exactly why she became Thorn Princess. Not for money or for her country, but because she wanted to ensure Yuri could live a quiet, peaceful life, the same life Olka is currently seeking. Her epiphany continues as she realizes her desire to cleanse the world of needless tragedies hasn't changed, despite none of her loved ones directly benefiting from her work anymore. Yor may be naive about many things (due to her upbringing), but she's not ignorant about the sadness that exists in the world around her. And here is where she makes her decision to keep doing her assassinating, not because she enjoys killing people, not because she needs money, and not because she feels some higher sense of duty to her country – but because the result of her work will make the world a better place...because now, she has even more people whose happiness she desires to protect.

This renewed sense of purpose gives her the strength to fight back. As she goes full assassin mode on the swordsman, she tosses aside all of her previous worries about her profession and her own personal well-being – she doesn't care if she has to keep living a dangerous life, nor if she has to leave the Forgers (both of which were things she was concerned about while on the cruise). All that matters to her now is making the world a better place for others. It's also worth mentioning that Yor's inner monologue in this scene is one of the rare times I mentioned in Part 19 where she doesn't use keigo (polite speech). That's another clear indication of what a truly emotional revelation this moment is for her.
Her new resolve is fully solidified when she remembers that Loid complimented this aspect of her personality way back when they first met. She's grown to trust him so much that she confidently states he would acknowledge and understand why she does what she does even if she can't ever tell him about it.

Interestingly, she thinks of Loid in this situation instead of Yuri, who's the original reason she became an assassin. She knows that Yuri, being her (obsessive) brother and only "true" family member left, would forgive her no matter what. This is why acknowledgement from someone else, especially someone she respects as much as Loid, is so meaningful to her. And, unbeknownst to her, her reason for being an assassin is the same reason Twilight became a spy…to make a world where those they care about can live a peaceful life, where needless tragedies can be prevented, and children won't have to cry.

can i request a horropedia x reader with the “rude to everyone but loving to their partner” trope? (reader is the rude one)🫶🏻 male reader if possible
More of the lovely Nerdy Nerd? How could i possibly say no. Thank you for your submission and it is absolutely my pleasure to serve you. (side note: could not be more on the nail for how i am irl)
Without further ado, dear readers, lets get into another dream with Horropedia.
Tumblr media
You were...rough around the edges, so to speak. Uncaring and cold towards most people.
If someone touched you, you'd snap at them. If someone came at you with an attitude, you'd match it.
Everyone associated with you was used to your foul mouth and bad mood.
Except one person, of course.
He had never understood why everyone spoke so poorly of your behavior until he witnessed first hand how "grouchy" you were with others.
"Hes not so bad." he'd try to defend you, scratching the back of his head with a sheepish smile.
"Dude he literally insulted me to my face because I bumped into him." one coworker recalls, angered by the mere memory.
It wasnt like you were trying to be mean, people just dont have spatial awareness.
They were right there.
Nothing pushed them into you.
They didn't even trip.
They just were dumb and didn't look where they were going. That's on them.
He would listen to you recall your side of the story, your tone soft and even because it was him.
"We really gotta work on your...people skills." he hums, but in complete honesty he was impressed how you were so able to stand your ground.
One day, someone decided to really push their luck. Yapping about how annoying "that weirdo, horropedia or whatever that guys name is" was.
Safe to say you were pissed, and he was in their direct vicinity too.
once you noticed that he was RIGHT THERE being spoken ill about?
"Who the fuck do you think you are?" you spat with malice, turning around so fast people would assume you were facing them the whole time.
You went off of them, until Joshua stepped in, equally shocked but also mildly amused by the expression on the culprits face.
"woah hey, no need to get angry." There was full and ardent need to get angry, they just insulted him to his face and he was just gonna take that? hell no, not on your damn watch.
He turns around and politely apologizes to the culprit, "So sorry about that, hes trying to work on his temper.."
He guides you away, still secretly impressed by your anger. Nobody really ever defended him like that, especially in front of a whole establishment full of people.
"I mean seriously can you believe them? Talking shit about you like that in front of you?" you'd start almost as soon as the culprit was out of earshot, just to keep him happy. You wouldn't have cared if they had heard you, you already spat so much profanity in their direction anyways.
"You know it happens all the time, I'm not exactly a stranger to it." which you couldn't understand. How does he tolerate such blatant disrespect, I mean sure he's a little strange and nerdy but that doesn't hurt anyone.
"Yeah but you don't deserve that, you didn't even do anything." you'd murmur, looking away. You look like a scolded dog, which he thought was adorable.
What he didn't remark on was the clear difference in how you spoke to others and how you spoke to him.
you were still frustrated, temper still on high, and yet you held back profanity and sulked instead of snapping at him.
He definitely noticed though, you were so sweet to him that it was hard not to notice.
He'll let you off for just this once, but the next time he catches you he'll have to scold you properly.
He won't admit that he's enjoying the special treatment, he's happy you care about him so much.
but maybe tone it down a little?
Only sometimes though
Tumblr media
Well, this one was very fun to write. Thank you once again, dear readers, your support and kind words mean the world. We will dream once again, come find me soon <3. signed, yours forever Moon.

if you’re still taking requests, maybe identity porn? or just mutual pining fluff!
hey anon! this is my first time trying identity porn, that's why it took me so long. also jason's undercover name is john as in john doe. it was fun trying this new trope, thank you for the experience!
--
From all the odd jobs and undercover cases that Jason had gone through - nothing compared to this one.
It was probably one of the easiest and clean jobs he had ever had though. While the pay wasn’t that good, he could enjoy some peace, the AC and at the same time, study his target. His tasks were simple; he was in charge of the music, cleaning his work area and making fun, colorful beverages that were so popular nowadays.
He wouldn’t admit it, but he honestly kind of enjoyed making lattes, smoothies and sweet-fruit drinks. Not as much as getting rid of the garbage of Gotham, of course, but for a day-job, he thought it was a pretty nice change of pace.
The clients were all types of different people. Guys in a suit coming for their boring americano, teens coming for lattes and smoothies, young adults for tea, milkshakes and more. It was interesting.
Jason even had fun the day he convinced an old stoic man to try something sweet. Men have to like bitter things, the client had said. Jason snorted, did some convincing and made up ‘scientific’ and social explanations about it before handing him a strawberry latte.
He couldn’t help but grin the moment he saw the client’s face change from deadpan to surprise and then some embarrassment for actually liking it.
It was good that he didn’t get bored when his target wasn’t around. The people were friendly and he was enjoying his time, but still, this job in particular was hard for one specific reason.
“It’s getting late.” He neatly folded a cloth and wiped the surface of the counter.
There was no response. Of course.
“If you don’t pack your things I’ll kick you out without them.”
There was still no response. Besides the music in the background, he could hear some fast typing. This was how his evenings went most of the time.
In past jobs he had dealt with drunkards, with abusive bosses, awful customers, annoying and nosy coworkers, but this? This was something he never expected to happen to him.
“Okay, that’s enough Timothy.” He could feel his heart pounding against his chest as he made his way to Tim’s table. He knew he was good at pretending nothing extraordinary was happening, but deep inside he was panicking only because he was talking to him.
Even if Tim was ignoring him right now.
“I’m gonna close soon so I need you to leave. Go home and have some real sleep.” He said resting his elbow on the table. He wasn’t into touching without consent so even if he wanted to be annoying to Tim, he didn’t dare to do such a thing. “Are you listening, monkey?”
Tim looked up at him a bit surprised but as soon as the words sunk in, he looked at his watch. “It’s already closing time?” He began to whine but almost immediately he changed his mood. “Before you kick me out– look!” With a big smile on his face, he was quick to take his phone, unlock it and shove it into Jason’s face.
“How many times have I told you to stop doing that?” He pushed the phone away and tried to focus his eyes on the screen. He already knew what he was about to see. “What’s that ugly thing?”
“John. You really have bad taste,” he frowned slightly before he’d swipe right and smile again. “There are more photos! I took them last night.” It was clear that Tim was proud of it.
“Are you … friends with that guy?” Jason didn’t look him in the eye, pretending that the idea of Tim and Red Hood being friends made him nervous. This kid had so many photos of him on his laptop and phone, it was crazy. And honestly? Jason was flattered. “He’s a menace.”
“He’s not!” Tim was quick to defend him. “I know that he carries guns and he kills people but he kills the bad ones! That terrible people won’t be coming back to keep hurting others. Most of you are fans of Batman even if the cops hate him, right? Well, Red Hood is my Batman.”
There was a small smirk on Jason’s face. He bothered Tim about this only because he liked to hear all the nice things he had to say about Red Hood. It wasn’t often that he would find someone who thought in such a positive way about him. “You’re a crazy little guy.”
“Nah, I’m just telling the truth. He’s funny too.” Since the very first time that they met, Tim didn’t hide his ‘admiration’ for Red Hood. He’d spend his evenings at the café talking about how great he was, how Red Hood had saved him once and how they would talk some nights and even let Tim take his photos.
“So you hang out at 3am with a criminal only because he’s fun?” He huffed. “Tim, you gotta meet new people. People your age and you’ll see there’s more funny, safe people out there that you can meet during the day. I’m sure this is why you spend your evenings here, consuming all that caffeine.”
For Jason it was love at first sight, but Tim? Tim was too blind with how great Red Hood was that there were days Jason would even get jealous of himself. He blamed it on his night job and how tired he could be after patrolling the city and then coming to the café without much rest.
“There’s no one at home, I would rather spend it here where I can eat and drink and then get ready for the night.” He replied as he took his time to put everything in his backpack.
“You’re not a vigilante like him, Tim. Be careful, okay?”
“Yeah, I always make sure not to get in his way.”
“So how is your little fan club going?” The day was slow and there weren't many people at the café, except for Tim who was close to the counter, and a girl in a corner, buried in books and looking like she might explode if someone dated to interrupt her.
Jason decided to change the music to something relaxing for studying.
“It’s okay. I don’t share all my photos though.” Tim wasn’t looking at him, he was still busy with his laptop. By now Jason knew that if it wasn’t him doing homework or talking to his friends, he was busy with his Red Hood fan club.
“You don’t?” He was confused. He thought that was the purpose of those photos, to share them and make it obvious who was Red Hood’s favorite.
“Mm no.” Tim looked at him and after a big pause, he decided to confess. “I don’t like sharing. I even have a couple of selfies with him, but I don’t post those. They are only for myself.”
“But you showed them to me.”
“Yes, but I didn’t send them to you, it’s different.” There was a light shrug before he’d focus back on his laptop.
“Do you print them as posters for your bedroom?”
Tim didn’t reply, only looked up at Jason.
“You do, don’t you?” He grinned. “I can’t believe you’re obsessed with that stinky guy. You’re into bad boys, huh?”
There was a cute blush that spread through Tim’s face instantly. “He’s not a bad guy.”
“Yeah, I mean I guess being a criminal and killing people is something good people do.” Jason shrugged, a smirk still on his face. “What is so cool about him? Does he even do the laundry?”
“Everything is cool about him,” Tim frowned slightly but after a moment of wondering what to do, he sighed and closed his laptop, focusing entirely on Jason.
Oh, he was getting serious.
“Look, he’s amazing. He’s someone you can talk to and has good advice, he is kind and worries about everyone. Yes, killing is bad but he’s a good person. He does this to stop innocent people from getting hurt or murdered.” He spoke as if he was pleading for Red Hood’s life. “He has a nice voice even if it’s kind of muffled under his helmet, and he makes sure I get home safe. He has this kind of humor that I actually find funny and he has big hands and his thighs are…”
“Oh wait, wait. Hold on.” Jason lifted his hands. “I don’t want to hear about your fantasies. I get it, you like him that way but are you sure he isn’t like someone who is trying to fool you? Pretend he is cool and then he shows his true colors?”
“I’m sure he isn’t pretending. He’s not a nice guy. He’s kind and a real man.” Tim said this looking him in the eye.
Maybe Jason felt something like butterflies in his stomach and something warm blossoming in his chest.
Maybe. But who knows.
“What about guys who help elderly people with chores or do their groceries shopping? What about those who help kids find their parents when they are lost and cook meals at shelters?” It wasn’t that Jason wanted Tim to stop liking Red Hood, he only wanted to have a chance too. Maybe mentioning some of the things he had done and still does would help his case.
“Good for them?” Tim arched an eyebrow.
Jason was about to complain but the bell over the door chimed, announcing a new customer arriving. When he turned to look, he saw it was his target coming in and oh, right, I’m working-working.
He looked at Tim one more time and sighed dramatically. “Okaay, okaay. I’m glad you found the one. Just make sure to get home safe after you see him.” It was a bit silly that he would like to bother him about it and then get jealous when he would hear all that admiration Tim felt for Red Hood, but it was somehow addicting.
“Sure.” He hummed happily, a light blush still on his face as he opened his laptop to start typing again.
Jason smiled, hoping that one day Tim would like him too, and not only one version of himself. Maybe one day.
