Nishimura Riki was many things, but an unhelpful jerk was not one of them. Those close to him knew that he could never ignore a person in need. Every time he was asked for help, he would do just about anything in his power to do just that. It was near impossible for him to say no, and the situation he suddenly found himself in was no exception.
“Please?”
Song Yura’s clasped hands were resting under her chin prettily, her pleading eyes shining brilliantly like she was holding back tears. Riki’s expression softened because like most guys in his school, he couldn’t bear to say no to one of the prettiest girls he had ever seen. And while he didn’t immediately agree to her request, it didn’t mean that he wasn’t being swayed.
Okay, so the favor she needed was borderline unreasonable and downright toxic, but a large part of Riki didn’t care because it directly involved messing with Lee Heeseung.
“Can’t you just tell that idiot how you feel?” Riki’s tone was slightly rough. “Using me to make him jealous isn’t going to make him want you.”
Yura scowled at him. “How do you know? Jealousy is a powerful emotion.”
Riki’s jaw ticked. He knew that her stupid plan had a 95% chance of failing because anyone with eyes could tell that Heeseung was down bad for you. And as much as it killed him to witness it, he was pretty sure the feeling was mutual.
“Whatever you say.” Riki scoffed. “I still think this is a terrible idea.”
His friend only blinked at him before a victorious smirk slowly spread on her lips. She didn’t hear a no. “But you’ll help me, right?”
Riki’s tongue poked the corner of his lips, narrowed eyes glaring at the shorter girl with resignation. Maybe he would come to regret his decision, but if he could help his friend while getting that jerk away from you, then so be it.
“Yeah. I will.”
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ ⋆✦⋆ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
Sunghoon was usually not one to pay attention to rumors, but even he couldn’t avoid hearing that Nishimura Riki and Song Yura were talking. It’s not a rumor that particularly interested him since he didn’t really care about his cousin’s love life. However, it did break his heart for you. In spite of what you wanted him to believe, he knew you never really got over your crush on Riki.
That’s why he disregards reason and goes out to look for you when he heard some of his classmates talking about the new hot couple of the school. Maybe it was foolish of him to do so because he was the one to walk away from you in the first place, yet he couldn’t care about any of that. He just needed to be there should you be in need of comfort.
Except when he made it outside and saw you just a few feet away from the school’s entrance, he belatedly realized that you had already found a source of comfort in the form of Lee Heeseung.
The sight made Sunghoon feel sick. You seemed oblivious to the way the taller boy was staring at you with a stupid look on his face. It made his stomach turn with bitter jealousy. From the looks of it, he could tell that your involvement with Heeseung went beyond a simple friendship. It killed him to see just how brightly you smiled at Lee Heeseung. You claimed to not have any feelings for him, but maybe you were just in denial.
And now, Sunghoon could only watch with a crestfallen face as Heeseung handed you a cute little box. Your eyes lit up brightly to the point that it looked like they were nearly sparkling. It killed him to see how prettily you smiled when you opened the box and pulled out a star necklace.
Heeseung smiled softly. “Do you like it?”
“It’s so pretty.” You couldn’t keep the excitement out of your voice.
You gently place the necklace back in its box before throwing your arms around your friend. When he said he’d get you a prize for finally beating him in a match, you thought he was just going to treat you to a meal or something. “Thanks, Hee.”
Sunghoon refused to watch any further, turning on his heel and walking away from the sight that made him feel like someone punched him in the gut. Right then he decided that he was going to get to the bottom of your relationship with Lee Heeseung even if it was the last thing he did.
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ ⋆✦⋆ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
You were going to kill Minji.
When you told her she could invite people to join you for karaoke, you didn’t think she would be stupid enough to invite Jungwon. It’s not like you had anything against him, but anywhere he went, your brother and Riki followed. This wouldn’t have been such a big problem had you not been avoiding Riki and if you hadn’t invited Heeseung to come along with you.
And to make matters worse, Heeseung brought along his friends which included resident puppy boy, Jake Sim. Much like Jungwon, you had nothing against Jake, but he happened to bring along your insufferable ex and his lovely cousin who he was apparently very close to.
“Should we get something to eat first?” Danielle wondered, trying to ease the obvious tension and discomfort that surrounded the group.
“There’s a chicken restaurant by the karaoke place.” Sunoo said cheerfully. “Let’s go there.”
A chorus of agreements paired with Jay and Jake’s enthusiastic cheers broke some of the lingering animosity, but not completely. As everyone walked in the direction of the restaurant, you quickly pulled Heeseung aside. Your eyes were wide with anger, and it wasn’t just because of the fact that Sunghoon kept staring at you.
“What the fuck, Heeseung?” You hissed, slapping your friend’s arm. “Why would you let Jake bring him?”
“Why did you let Minji bring Nishimura?” Heeseung countered, feeling like he was about to pop a vein.
“I didn’t know she invited them! I don’t want to see him with Yura any more than you do.”
It wasn’t like they were making out in front of you or anything, but they were giggling and whispering to each other like they were in their own little world. Also, Riki had casually slung one of his long arms across Yura’s shoulders, keeping her close to him as they walked. Just seeing them all hugged up was enough for you to consider ending your night early.
“I’m sorry.” Heeseung sighed, knowing that now you were not only forced to see your crush with someone else, but also forced to tolerate your idiot of an ex. “You think they’ll notice if we leave?”
Hearing you laugh was a relief. Maybe the night could be salvaged after all.
“I told you your plan wouldn’t work.” Riki whispered through gritted teeth. “Your little boyfriend could care less that you’re here.”
Yura pouted, chancing a glance back to where she could hear the sound of a cute laugh. It was true. Heeseung was so engrossed with watching you giggle that he didn’t seem to notice how close her and Riki had gotten. Not that she could blame him. You were especially pretty when you laughed.
With a huff, Yura looked straight ahead. “Whatever. The night isn’t over yet.”
Riki looked back. His eyes landed on a sullen Sunghoon who hadn’t taken his eyes off of you since he and Yura arrived. It’s not like Riki felt bad for him or anything. He saw firsthand how devastating your breakup with him had been. However, in that moment Riki almost felt like he understood exactly how Sunghoon was feeling.
Seeing you laugh happily with Lee Heeseung made Riki physically sick. Especially after you sent him a text asking him to just let it go this once since you technically couldn’t avoid Heeseung at this point. It made him more upset than he thought was possible.
Dinner went by in a forgettable blur which you were grateful for. So far, you and Heeseung had done a decent job at hiding how devastating it was to see Yura and Riki together. It wasn’t until the group was going into the karaoke place that your night started to sour.
“Y/N.” Sunghoon’s voice was soft as he gently pulled on the sleeve of your jacket. “Can we talk?”
Unfortunately, Heeseung was the first one inside since he was eager to out-sing everyone which meant you would have to deal with Sunghoon alone. You let the group go ahead, giving Danielle and Minji a small nod so they wouldn’t feel bad about leaving you alone.
A frown lined your lips as you faced Sunghoon. “What do you want?”
Your voice was cold and distant, and Sunghoon felt himself deflate. “I want us to go back to the way we used to be. Before… everything, we used to be friends. Now, you can barely even look at me, and I hate it.”
His unreasonable request made you scoff. You’re not sure why he thought you two could ever be friends or anything close to that again. There was a building tightness in your throat as you tried not to unleash all of your stifled emotions.
“That’s not going to happen. I got over what happened between us, but that doesn’t mean I want you around.”
“Why?” Sunghoon demanded. “Because of Heeseung?”
He was overstepping, but you somehow managed to keep your emotions in check long enough to answer him. “So what if it is?”
“Does he know how you feel about Riki?” It was a low blow, but Sunghoon was too upset to take his words back.
Your icy gaze got colder, and it was taking everything in you not to hit Sunghoon like you wanted. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Now it was Sunghoon who scoffed. “Yeah, right. You’ve always liked him. Even when we were together, you had feelings for him. Don’t think I didn’t notice.”
You swallowed thickly. While his words were not untrue, Sunghoon didn’t realize he was the only guy who had ever moved your heart to the point where you started to forget about Riki. Not that it mattered anymore.
“What do you care who I do or don’t like? Just mind your own business.”
“I may not be friends with Heeseung anymore, but he doesn’t deserve only half of your heart.” Sunghoon’s voice trembled, and he knew that once everything was said and done he was going to regret his harsh words. But right now he could only vent his sadness and anger on you even though you didn’t deserve it. “It’s not right for you to make him your back burner just because Riki doesn’t like you.”
The second he spoke those harsh words, he regretted it. Your face crumbled, steely gaze twisting into one of hurt and shock. The sight alone made Sunghoon feel like someone struck him in the chest. “Y/N, I—”
“You don’t know anything.” You told him through gritted teeth, barely holding back angry tears. “Not that it’s any of your business, but Heeseung and I aren’t like that.”
Sunghoon grew indignant again. “Oh yeah? Then why did he give you that necklace you’re wearing?”
You were at a breaking point, but you weren’t willing to let him of all people see you at your worst. So you didn’t answer, but your silence didn’t deter him.
“That’s what I thought.” Sunghoon frowned, not liking the turn the conversation took. “You have to be honest with him so he doesn’t get hurt—”
“Why do you care so much about us, anyway?” You snapped, sick of him acting like he knew what was going on. “Stop acting like you’re doing this because of Heeseung when all you care about is hurting me.”
Us? The word had Sunghoon clenching his jaw. Had he been right all along? Did you and Heeseung have something more than just a simple friendship? “I don’t want to hurt you. Believe it or not, that’s something I never wanted to do.”
You let out a breath that sounded like a mixture of a scoff and a laugh, knowing you had to get ahold of yourself before going inside. But the hurtful emotions wouldn’t stop growing. They only got worse with each passing moment. “That’s funny because that’s all you do, Sunghoon.”
“Y/N.”
You looked back to see Riki glaring at Sunghoon. At that moment you felt your heart drop into your stomach. How long had he been listening? Riki’s angry stare didn’t falter even as he walked over to where you were. He grabbed your wrist and pulled you away from your ex.
“Come on.” Riki finally took his glaring eyes off of Sunghoon, only to look at you softly. “The others are waiting.”
Normally, you would avoid being dragged anywhere by your crush, but Riki’s appearance came like a blessing to you. The last thing you wanted was to spend another minute with the boy who only insisted on adding to your misery. So you followed him, hoping with all your might that he didn’t know about your feelings for him.
Sunghoon watched with a raised eyebrow as Riki guided you away from him. Interesting. He had doubted that the thing with his cousin and Riki was real, and by the looks of it, he was right. The gag of it all was that your little unrequited crush didn’t seem to be so unrequited after all.
“Did you hear everything?” You wondered quietly as Riki guided you to the room everyone was in.
He looked over at you, frowning when he saw how embarrassed you looked. In all honesty, he’d only heard the last part where you said all Sunghoon did was hurt you. But since it seemed like you were completely mortified, he decided to lie a little. “No. I just know you didn’t want to be out there with him so I came and got you.”
You visibly relaxed. “Thanks, Riki.”
It was easier than expected to pretend like you hadn’t just been through the emotional ringer. The rest of the night proceeded without any further incident, and you thought it would end smoothly with you putting it behind you. As always, you weren’t so fortunate.
You went outside to see Heeseung staring at the street, or rather, the two people by it. Riki and Yura were standing closely, talking and laughing like they had been doing all night. His gaze became colder the longer he looked at them. If jealousy could be personified, you imagined that it would look something like Heeseung did at the moment.
“Don’t be a masochist.” You tried to keep your tone light, but it sounded resigned and miserable. “Giving them the evil eye won’t change anything.”
Heeseung let out a sigh as he followed you into the street, doing his best to keep his eyes off of his crush and the guy he hated more than anyone.
“Are you guys leaving?”
Yura’s friendly question was tempting to ignore, but you couldn’t. After all, she couldn’t be blamed for Riki’s lack of attraction toward you.
“Yeah.” You gave her what you hoped looked like a genuine smile. “See you guys later.”
With that, you and Heeseung left the pair behind, not realizing that you dropped the necklace your friend had given you.
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ ⋆✦ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
Just because you were avoiding Riki, it didn’t mean you were extending that same treatment to his family. Over the years, you had grown close to his little sister. You were really fond of her, and since her birthday was coming up, you decided to go to the mall to pick out her present. It was supposed to be a quick thing, but that all changed when you ran into Heeseung.
The unexpected run in wasn’t unpleasant since he was your friend after all, but there was something off about his demeanor. His expression wasn’t as cheerful, and you could see that there was this muted anger in his expression that wouldn’t go away. You decided not to comment on it since he clearly didn’t want to walk about what was bothering him.
Everything took a turn for the worse when Heeseung asked you to follow him. There was a moment where you thought following your perturbed friend would only lead to trouble, but it was fleeting. He was probably ready to leave and so were you since she hadn’t found the shoes Riki’s sister mentioned that she wanted. Even as you two ended up where the elevators were, you didn’t think anything was out of the ordinary.
Until he guided you toward the shutting elevator, that is.
Heeseung surprised you by sticking his hand out to prevent it from closing. You could only stare with wide eyes, unable to understand why he felt the need to act so irrationally when there were plenty of other elevators you could take. Your shocked confusion didn’t last long. The doors opened fully to reveal none other than Riki and Song Yura.
They seemed as surprised as you felt.
The entire situation would’ve been comedic had it not been for the animosity that was quickly closing in. You spent half a second contemplating on running in the opposite direction until something caught your attention. Your gaze settled on the cute little shopping bag in Riki’s grasp. It was a bag from his sister’s favorite clothing store. Your heart jerked painfully when you realized what was going on.
Ever since you got close to Riki, he had enlisted your help to buy his sisters (his younger one in particular) the perfect gifts. It was practically a tradition at this point. Seeing that he had asked for Yura’s help instead of yours felt like the equivalent of someone punching you in the chest.
You didn’t get any time to focus on your hurt feelings because from the looks that were exchanged between the two boys, you knew that you had just been dropped in the middle of a crossfire.
Heeseung grabbed you and pulled you inside the elevator without any hesitation. You gave him an incredulous glare. It was obvious that he had some poorly-crafted plan to wedge himself between Riki and Yura, but you didn’t understand why he felt the need to involve you. At this point, all you wanted to do was run back home and have a good cry.
“Hey!” Riki’s death stare was piercing he looked at Heeseung. “What the hell do you think you're doing?”
“What about you?” Heeseung countered. “What are you doing?”
During this brief exchange, you made eye contact with Yura. Her eyes drifted down to where Heeseung was still holding onto your wrist. The disillusion on her face probably resembled the look on your own face. Although, you were too busy trying to process the crazy turn of events to make sense of Yura’s disappointed expression.
“Hee.” You whispered the plea while attempting to free yourself from his hold. “Let’s get off.”
Using all your strength, you managed to get to the edge of the elevator (right between the doors), but Heeseung’s iron-like grip prevented you from leaving. Riki pressed one of the buttons to keep the door from closing without taking his glaring eyes off of Heeseung. By now, your heartbeat seemed to be ringing in your ears as the two boys kept exchanging words you couldn’t make out. You were vaguely aware that they kept pushing the buttons sporadically, but only came back to reality when the door jammed and nearly crushed you.
With a startled yelp, you were pulled back into the elevator by Heeseung—who was now questioning Yura on what she was doing shopping with Riki. The words spoken still sounded muffled and indistinguishable.
You could feel your heartbeat skip a beat when the elevator came to a sluggish stop. Immediately, you became aware of the fact that you were now trapped. No. No no no no no, no. Not here. Not now. Trying to stop yourself from panicking was futile. Your hands began to clam up and you could feel your chest tighten with anxiety. The tremors always started out faint, but it never took long for them to worsen. The shortness of breath always followed, and you only hoped the others wouldn’t notice.
Shutting your eyes never helped, but you did it every time. The back of your eyelids were painted with horrible thoughts of being trapped in a confined space. You had been working through your phobia slowly, and you naively thought that you had finally made some real progress. None of that seemed to be true now that you could feel yourself trembling like a leaf.
“Y/N! Kim Y/N!”
Your eyes flew open. At some point, you had lost the feeling in your legs and fallen to the floor. Riki was crouched down in front of you, eyes full of panic and worry. His hands gently cradled your face as he delicately wiped the tears you didn’t realize were falling from your eyes. “Y/N, look at me. It’s okay. Breathe. Just breathe.”
Sunoo had told Riki all about his twin’s claustrophobia. He was vague when he said it was because of something traumatic that had happened to you as a child, but he mentioned that you would get horrible panic attacks because of it. That’s why you didn’t like taking taxis or even buses. Riki couldn’t stand seeing the horrified look on your face. The sheer terror in your eyes killed him.
“Wh-What’s wrong with her?” Yura asked, feeling her own heart start to race.
“She’s having a panic attack.” Heeseung said, the raw emotion in his voice peeking through. He didn’t try to hide the horror on his face. This was all his fault.
“R-Riki.” You wheezed out. “I-I can’t– I can’t bre—”
You couldn’t even finish your sentence, the tightness in your chest hindering you from going on. Everything seemed to be closing in, and you didn’t know what to do. All you wanted was your brother.
“You can do it.” Riki reassured you. “It’s going to be okay. Count with me.”
And you did. Slowly and feebly, but you did it. Your breathing was nearly back to normal when the doors of the elevator were pulled open. The four of you looked up at the point of escape, wanting nothing more than to get out. With all your rational thoughts pushed to the side, you recoiled from Riki’s touch.
“Y/N—!”
You ignored Riki’s heartbroken voice and quickly scrambled out of the elevator, feeling more mortified than ever.
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ ⋆✦⋆ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
Riki stood outside of your house, awkwardly shifting on his feet. In all the years he had been friends with you and Sunoo, he never hesitated to knock on your door (even when he came by unannounced). But this was time different. After the way you ran off at the mall, he wasn’t so sure that you wanted to see him.
Even so, he needed to know that you were okay.
Just as he walked up your driveway, the front door opened. Riki’s eyes narrowed instinctively when he saw a familiar face come through the door. “What are you doing here?”
Heeseung blinked once, clearly irritated. “I came to make sure Y/N is okay.”
Riki clenched his jaw. He had no right to be as angry as he was since seeing the boy you liked would no doubt make you feel better, but he couldn’t stand Lee Heeseung assuming a role that wasn’t meant for him.
“That’s funny considering you’re the reason she wasn’t fine.” Riki spat, not caring that he sounded harsh.
Heeseung was very conscious that he was (partially) at fault, but he didn’t need to hear that from Nishimura Riki of all people. “You’re one to talk. Aren’t you too busy with Song Yura to care about what’s going on with Y/N?”
It’s weird that he brought up Yura, and it was even more strange that he was bringing up the fact that you two haven’t been as close lately. Now he knows for sure Heeseung was the reason you seemed to want nothing to do with him anymore. But he still couldn’t figure out how Yura played a part in all this. Had her crazy plan actually worked?
“What happens between Yura and I has nothing to do with Y/N.” Riki’s steely gaze slowly morphed into an amused one. “And it has nothing to do with you either.”
Based on the way Heeseung’s face scrunched up in anger, Riki could tell there was definitely something there. It made his stomach turn with disgust because how could he be stringing you along while also feeling something for Yura?
“You can keep following Yura like a lost puppy, but don’t bring Y/N into it. I won’t let you mess with her feelings."
Heeseung raised his eyebrow with a loud scoff. “I’m not the one who’s messing with her feelings.”
His brazen attitude made Riki explode just a tiny bit. “Don’t act fucking stupid. I can tell you like Yura, so why the hell do you keep hanging around Y/N and acting like you like her?”
“The only one who’s acting that way is you.”
Heeseung words were biting, and for the first time in a long time, Riki was at a loss for words. The statement itself was so absurd that he nearly choked on his own spit after hearing that moron say those words. Riki wanted to tell him that the only thing he was acting like was a good friend. For some reason the words couldn’t come out.
“I know where I stand with my feelings.” Heeseung said in a way that sounded like he was accusing his former friend of something. “Do you?”
Riki didn’t say anything even when Heeseung walked away from him. Those asinine words were bouncing back and forth in his mind until he really digested them and the implications they came with. His heart was pounding as he stared at the Kim household. Could that idiot be right? Was it possible that these protective feelings stemmed from something more intense that he wasn’t ready to acknowledge?
No. It was impossible. There was no way he would ever betray his best friend by liking his sister.
Although, the longer he thought about it, the bigger the discomfort in his chest grew.

nobody asked, so here's my take on Nina and Maggie's storyline.
in general, i can grumble about how I'd wish their personalities outside the budding relationship arc were handled better; yet I have to admit the ending's impressive. Neil wrote an entire wlw sideplot to showcase the problems of the main couple through their respective counterparts. it sits well with how Aziraphale and Crowley treat humans sometimes. there's a bonus of haha, gotcha, you fell for the character's façade that was meant to be dismantled by the viewer, in the way you automatically assume Nina equals Crowley and Maggie = Aziraphale. it's also fun to figure out why they are the opposite. maybe not enough to sustain the need for watching fully fleshed-out people on the screen, but still a bonus.
the thing is— you're ready to leave, a bit disappointed when Neil takes your head, turns it gently around and says "watch now". at the last possible minute, he invites the precious cardboard cutouts of our ineffable duo to sit on the couch — the special therapy lesbian friend couch — and he lets the toxic relationship survivor say, out loud, "actually, we didn't enjoy being the narrative mirror to your forbidden gay romance :/". you don't even get a second to wheeze what before the soft one chimes in with, "right, especially since it didn't work, because you still haven't confessed your feelings :// get loved idiot."
it doesn't fix the lack of substance, but I'm just saying. show me a TV show writer so self-aware his script choices aren't too fair to the L and B in the LGBTQ community, who decides to apologize by... making out sloppy style with the fourth wall??? i'll wait.

Chapter 18
Wishing upon a shooting star
Now and Forever
Time was a funny concept.
After the incident with Vision and Agatha, the world continued its slow travelled into a new year and the normality of life. But for you and your family, it became a painfully slow process in which you had to face many decisions and harsh realities. In the last couple of days, you had tried to make everything work, you made sure not only America but Wanda and the twins had the support they needed to continue on, while also dealing with the legal affairs involving Vision.
Everything had been a part of your life and how you were building up from scratch what had been put in jeopardy in a matter of hours.
Still, you and Wanda endure, and you couldn’t help but fell more in love with the woman that had been picking up her pieces while being everything you and her children needed. You massaged your neck tiredly, the house was completely alone and Wanda and the twins were still out somewhere with Natasha and Maria.
At least that was what she had said to you when you asked for her companionship to your appointment with the doctor. It had been a strange day, a very lonely day in which you had been left alone with your thoughts and emotions.
You whistled glancing around your living room before directing your attention to the stairs, America had long gone somewhere with Kate and you regretted not having agreed to her and her idea of joining you at the hospital. With a heavy sigh, and some tiredness you made your way upstairs ready to take a shower.
Of course, noting could had prepared you for what you found there.
The room was completely empty.
You stepped forward until your eyes fell upon the clothes that had been neatly organized on your bed. Right on top of your favourite trousers there was a single note with your name on it, you recognized America’s messy handwriting and you couldn’t help but smile at the words she had left written on the piece of paper.
Today is finally the day!
Wanda has been planning this for a very long time, and since I am very amazing sister, and sister-in-law, I decided to give her a hand.
I choose your favourite clothes and left everything ready for you to get dress and ready for your date with Wanda. You and her both deserve this time, and I think it would be the perfect time to just be yourself and talk about everything but what had happened lately. Please, be happy. I will take the twins to Kate’s place and you two will have the rest of the afternoon and the night for yourselves. Please, just write to me and make sure you enjoy the date.
Love, the best sister in the world (me)
Your smile only grew knowing in the last couple of days America had been completely secretive though always offering hints of how much you were going to love the surprised. Wanda had been holding her secrets just as tightly, and by the time Friday finally arrived you were really dying to know what Wanda had prepared.
“Very well, one hour before Wanda is here,” you mumbled to yourself letting your eyes wandered around to check your clothes. With a wince, you left your backpack and the jacket on a chair and went to the bathroom.
You couldn’t help but gasped at the sheer pain you felt running through your arm, leaving the sling to the side and helping yourself out of your clothes. Your reflection blinked back at you, the wound on your left arm was still red, and fresh, pulsating from time to time reminding you not only of the cold winter days, but of what had almost happened two weeks ago.
With a frown, and a shake of your head you turned around getting the bath ready.
Today was about you and Wanda and whatever it was she had prepared for you, there was no time to think anything sad or regretful. With a smile on your face, you put on some music and decided to get ready for the woman that had already captured your heart.
A deep void of anticipation settled on your lower abdomen and you could hardly wait to see Wanda again.
You glanced at your reflection with a critical eye.
America had put together the suit your dad had chosen for your first official meeting in the company. Your lips curled lightly, it had been a while since you last used those Chino pants, or that blazer, but it was your favourite one because of how it made you look. How it made you feel. You smiled fixing your left arm to rest comfortably on your midsection, the blazer and pants tailored fit complementing your body form with the dark colours you favoured so much.
You found your eyes in your reflection, your body tingling with anticipation and a void expanding on your abdomen. Your heart shrank with emotion, when you recalled Wanda's eyes on you, her smile and the sweet timbre of her voice. If you were to be honest you didn't know when you felt for her, when you lowered your guard and allowed this woman and her children to take home in your heart. You just knew that one day, her smile took your breath away and her eyes on you made your heart fluttered with want.
The mobile on your bed vibrated several times, you furrowed your brows grabbing the phone while reading the message. You smirked, you turned around and went directly to the first floor making sure you had your wallet and keys on you. The moment you opened the door your throat went dry,
She stood by your door wearing a single, dark blue dress pressed around her horse but loose around the waist. There was a black coat on her, with her hair straightened up and light make-up glistening on her face. She smiled shyly at you, her eyes taking in your frame before they settled in your eyes, her cheeks wore a dust of red you were familiar with.
“Hey.” She greeted tentatively dipping her head while looking away for a moment.
You shook your head, blinking a couple of times before stepping forward.
“Hey.”
Wanda leaned back, her tongue playing with her lips with her hands closing tightly around the purse she had borrowed.
“You look beautiful.” You finally stuttered out, your face warming up when those green eyes fell on you once more.
Wanda put a strand of hair behind her ear, her smile softening leaning into the touch of your hand on her arm.
“You look good, too.” She replied and you were quite relieved you were not the only one incapable of speaking properly at the moment.
“Only good?” You asked teasingly, Wanda opened her eyes, shaking her head.
“You look amazing.” She finally stated, rolling her eyes when you just chuckled.
“Amazing, eh?”
“You always look good,” Wanda lifted her hand and put it on top of yours, “are you ready?”
You stepped out of your house closing the door behind you, you grabbed her hand placing a kiss on her knuckles with a single winked that made Wanda falter for a moment.
“I'm all ready for you, Princess. I'm also very excited to know where you are taking me, and what you have planned for today.”
You couldn't hide the excitement in your voice, you bounced on your feet while Wanda merely shook her head pointing to the car.
“It's still a surprise and as such, you are going to be asked to wear a blindfold.”
You cocked a brow at her, your lips curling playfully.
“Kinky.” You chuckled when Wanda slapped you playfully on the back, she rolled her eyes but you could tell she was blushing profusely.
“Come on, we have reservations.”
Wanda started walking down the lane but stopped when your hand closed around her forearm. She turned confused, her eyes finding yours and the seriousness of your expression made her turn completely to face you.
“We cannot go like this, you know?” You shook your head, but Wanda merely creased her brows tilting her head.
Whatever question she had, or whatever she was going to say was soon cut by your lips finding hers in a slow, tentative kiss. Her breath caught in her throat, and you just loved the way she tilted her head placing her hands on your forearms giving into the kiss while opening her mouth with her tongue teasingly playing with yours. You smiled into the kiss, sowing down until your forehead was resting against hers. Both breathing hard, flustered with lips swollen from the kissing.
“Are you…are you happy now?” Wanda asked and her voice, while still recovering, suddenly was huskier than ever.
You nodded, placing a sweet peck on her cheek, stepping back before you couldn't contain yourself.
“Yep, now we can go.”
____________________________
The ride to your destination was a silent event.
The silence was filled with music and conversation about your doctor’s recommendations for the physical therapy and Wanda’s care of her throat. You had leaned back against the eat, with a smile playing on your lips while you gave the woman sitting beside you a trust you rarely placed in anybody else.
When the car finally stopped, your stomach was squirming deliciously and your heart was jumping with anticipation of what was going to happen. You waited until a warm hand placed itself on your leg, your body tense leaning in to follow the voice of Wanda.
“I thought very hard on this, you know?” Wanda was speaking softly, with her voice filled with memory and something you couldn’t quite name, “I’ve been going through so many changes, and when I was finally getting to know myself I met you.”
You cracked a smile leaning your head without being able to see but sensing Wanda’s eyes on you.
“That was one hell of a first good impression?”
Wanda snorted, her hand clenched tenderly around your knee.
“No, I hated you.” This time around you could tell she was not joking, but her voice merely softened. “I hated what you made me feel, I felt vulnerable but at the same time there was this horde of butterflies on my stomach and my chest was always tight and throbbing…it was infuriating. It was confusing.”
You lifted your right hand; your movements were slow and tentative waiting to see if Wanda would stop your advances but she never did so. By the time you took off the blindfold, you could see the face of the other woman looking right outside the parking lot of a big, black building. Wanda let out a breathy sigh, it came right from her chest and by the time her green eyes found yours your heart skipped a beat.
“I wasn’t sure as to what I was experimenting until…” Wanda shrugged, “until I told Hope, then everything make sense.”
“Was it the first time you…” your question caught in your throat, there were many things you wanted to ask, furrowing your brows you realised there were certain details about Wanda you had yet to see, you had yet to know.
Fixing your position on the seat, this time around it was you the one facing her while the building stood like a shadow in front of you.
“Was it the first time a woman flirt with you?” You asked tentatively, Wanda nodded tilting her head until she was locking her eyes with you.
“It was the first time I actually admit to liking a woman, Y/N.” Wanda then softened her features, her hand seeking yours, “today I want to make it special, I want for you to know and to feel just how much you mean to me. I…I may be slow with words, but I don’t want you to think I am not experiencing the same emotions as you do.”
Your lips broke into a half smile, you leaned forward until your lips were on her ear. Wanda shivered her eyes fluttering close as you spoke.
“I love you.” It was a simple whisper, three words you had gotten used to tell the other woman with every single ounce of honestly you could show her.
“I know.” Wanda replied back turning her face until your lips and hers were brushing against one another, you snorted shaking your head.
“Very well, Han Solo, where are we?”
Wanda furrowed her brows scrunching up her nose the very same way the twins usually did when confused. You chuckled tucking her locks behind her ear.
“What did you call me?” She asked tentatively leaning back, you raised a single brow.
“You know? Han Solo? Star Wars? Princess Leia?”
Wanda shrugged shaking her head, her eyes twinkling in silent laughter at the face of pure mock disbelief you were wearing at the moment. It was as if you were genuinely offended by her lack of knowledge for what you were saying.
“God, as soon as this is over you and I are going home to see the movies, the original ones before I settled on letting you see the full saga.” You commented opening the door of the car.
Wanda followed your actions, but just before the both of you left the warmness of the car she decided to speak.
“Funny, I thought that after we left this place you and I could be doing something totally different once we were home. I was dying to know what else you could do with that mouth of yours.”
The young woman smirked closing the car door behind her and walking down the parking lot, her cheeks were a witness of her embarrassment but her heart fluttered happily when she heard your cursed and gasp. The door closing with a loud thud, while your footsteps hurried up behind her.
The night promise to be fun.
The main entranced had been decorated with silvery banners announcing the newest show, the doors were closed and a single sign to the left showed the place had been closed hours ago. You furrowed your brows; it was until the both of you had been standing closed to it that you realized you were in the Natural Museum and the Stark Planetarium. The place was huge and it had been built just outside the city to make it possible for the observatory to get easiest access to a clear sky.  Your eyes lighted up leaning in to observed inside the glassed doors, Wanda stood by your side writing something on her phone while waiting patiently with you.
“How did you know?” You asked leaning back, Wanda shifted her weight from one feet to the other facing you with a soft smile.
“I did pay attention when you helped the twins with their homework, and I did my investigation to make sure I wouldn’t get this wrong.” Wanda stepped closer to you positioning herself on your right side so she could grab your hand in hers. “I want this date to be special.”
“Being with you is what makes this date special.” You pecked her cheek, and Wanda just shook her head.
“You’re such a sweet talker.”
“Nah, I’m just saying the truth.”
Soon the doors were opened and a single guard opened the doors, he smiled at the both of you while passing a set of keys to Wanda giving her silent instructions as to where they should go and which parts were off limits for the both of you. You observed as the young woman listened carefully, she took the map the man was giving her while also pointing to something on the tablet he was holding. Your heart skipped a beat thinking of all the things she had done, if only to get you to where you two were at the moment ready to enjoy the strangest date you had ever been to.
“Very well, we’re not allow to disturb the rest of the exhibitions so let’s see, I think it’s down here.”
“Lead the way, my lady, I am but a humble peasant at your mercy.”
Wanda chuckled grabbing your hand dragging you through the corridors, it was only the both of you and the sound of your footsteps disturbed the silent scene spreading before your eyes. You had been in that place several times through your youth and adulthood; it was one of your favourite places in the whole world and you had a sneaking suspicion this part of the date had been America’s contribution.
“No way…” you whispered this time around walking faster until it was you the one dragging Wanda behind you, your smile grew just as you turned around and found the planetarium had been fixed in such a way that right in the middle of the ground there was a single table with two chairs.
You had been there when your father was helping around on the renovations, at that time you were but eight years old, but the idea behind these new arrangements was to make camping-like scenario for some of the youngest people that would fill the place in the future. The idea was to make of this dome of the most accurate and real in the whole country.
Let’s make it feel as if they were actually outside, watching the stars above their heads on a nice, summer night.
Your face broke into a nostalgic smile as the words of your father filled your mind.
Wanda took a deep breath her hand squeezing yours tenderly, her heart beating fast just as you let go while strolling around the place. The planetarium was located on the west wing of the building, it was the biggest in the east coast and it usually held some of the most important films about astronomy and history in the whole country. The projection dome was done with neutral colours with a LED system that came along with the latest technology for audio and special effects. It had been a couple of years since you last were inside the Domo and finding yourself in the midst of such a place only brough a bubble of happiness that spread all through your senses.
Everything was already set up, and the lights that were lighting up the place were just centred on the single table with two chairs right in the middle of the room. Instead of the normal chairs that were placed around the theatre, you found yourself looking at a scene that never thought possible and you knew right there and there of all the effort that Wanda had taken that very first time to give you the perfect date.
“Do you…do you like it?” Wanda finally broke the silence approaching you with a tentative stare in her eyes, she approached the table signalling the cutlery with the table, the glasses of wine and the single bottle resting on a small side table inside a bucket filled with ice.
You turned to the woman standing beside you, it was quite incredible that even after all she had done there was still some trepidation in her features, the nervous picking of her fingers while she tried to offer explanations of how everything came to be. Of the careful planning she did to make sure everything would be ready, that everything would be there on time.
You stopped her tirade just as she was about to tell you she chose as the main course had been lasagne accompanied by a white wine.
Wanda got her words tangled in her throat, her lips trembling lightly until she lifted her arms to return your hug. For the very first time, after what happened in New Year and the process of recovery you and Wanda allowed the comfort of a single hug.
“This is amazing.” You whispered making sure she could feel everything you were experimenting at the moment.
Wanda closed her eyes, taking in the sweet aroma of your perfume and surrendering to the warm of your body. You leaned back, brushing your fingers on her hair while taking in the marks on her eyes and the tentativeness behind her stare.
“Nobody had done this before, you know?”
“Really?” Wanda asked right away, you shook your head. Wanda pursed her lips stepping back a little.
“You don’t have to say that, you know?”
You furrowed your brows seeking her eyes with yours until she couldn’t look away from you.
“I mean it, Wands. I’ve been in many dates some of them were unique in the way the presented themselves, but…well, this…” You lifted your eyes to the dome stretching your arms while twirling around, “having someone worry enough to make something I like? Not many did, and not in the way I was expecting.”
“Well, I just thought…” Wanda turned around when the gates of the theatre opened and there came a couple of waitresses bringing over the food.
You grabbed Wanda’s hand leaning in to place a single kiss on her knuckles, the young woman rolled her eyes at your gesture but took it for what it was.
“Let’s eat, and discuss this, my lady.”
“Let me help you out.” Wanda replied walking fast to the closest chair pulling it out waiting for you to sit.
You grinned taking the chair while Wanda too the one right in front of you, the two young men worked was placing the plates filled with food while also serving the wine and leaving two glasses of water as well.
Everything was perfect, the smell of the fresh lasagne filled your nostrils and it was quite evident you couldn’t shake the smile adorning your features. Wanda puffed out her chest, a sense of pride overcame her knowing she had made it possible for you to not lose your smile or relaxed posture.
“This is delicious,” you moaned while tasting the food, Wanda blushed glancing at the food while nodding in agreement. “God you bought it in Olympia, didn’t you?”
“Yep, Ajak was very kind to offer the services of the waitress and the food and actually all the things you see here.”
“You really outdo yourself with the date, Wanda.”
Wanda lifted her face taking in your frame, she smiled going back to her food.
“I really wanted to make this special for you.” Wanda grabbed her wine frowning her brows for a moment, “I never thought I could be this special with anyone, let out feel like this for someone else.”
You focused on the food, but soon you noticed the sweet melody of a familiar song playing in the speakers inside the dome. Your eyes lighted up turning to Wanda who was offering a tiny smile, she really had thought about everything.
“Very well, what’s your ideal date?” You asked all of a sudden, Wanda was taken aback for a moment blinking at the randomness of the question.
“My ideal date?”
“Yep, you just said you couldn’t imagine being this special, but you are special, Wanda. Perhaps, you were never given the chance, but I know you must have something inside your head that cold be define as the perfect one.”
Wanda chewed on her lower lip, narrowing her eyes for a moment before leaning in.
“I have always thought that a walked down a beautiful part, or forest leading to a lake is an ideal date.” She stated thoughtfully, “mom used to take Pietro and me to this beautiful forest near the city back home, she always told us the stories of her youth, and I always thought that would be the perfect place to have a date or a marriage proposal.”
You nodded pursing your lips impressed, Wanda then turned to you her eyes gleaming strangely.
“How about yours?”
You opened your eyes blinking a couple of times before leaning over, “I have to say, this one? It’s at the top five of my favourite dates ever.”
Wanda made a face of disbelief but you stopped her with a gesture of your hand, you drank some wine shaking your head.
“I mean it.” You declared strongly, “I love history, and I love everything that has to do with museums and books, if you want to win my heart, this is the perfect spot to start over. But I would say the perfect date would be on Prague’s Strahov library. Now, that would be quite the adventure.”
The conversation soon flew the same way it did before the incident, you caught Wanda giving in while leaving the stress on her shoulders ease out and her expression relaxed while the conversation grew around the topics she handled well. You never lied to her, while you had your share amount of dates usually they involved other type of activities that, why you liked them at a time, they hardly related with one of your passions.
Laughter filled the planetarium; the acoustics of the place made it easy for the sound to be enhanced. The conversation grew around different topics, and soon whatever happened in the past, whatever physical wounds the both of you carried still were forgotten.
And it was in that moment you remembered why you fell in love with Wanda.
“Thank you, this was delicious.” You glanced at the waitress smiling gently at her, the young woman flushed returning the smile until she caught the glare coming from Wanda.
“I will bring the desert.” The young woman picked up the last of the dishes and hurried out of the place.
You cocked a brow at Wanda who had not stopped following the other woman with her glare, when she returned her attention to you it was only to find your amused smile adorning your features.
“Jealous much?” You chuckled when Wanda clicked her tongue looking away.
“Should I be?”
This time around you did laugh at the absurdity of the comment, Wanda rolled her eyes sending you a withering stare before huffing and crossing her arms. You waited until the dessert had been served and another bottle of wine was brought, this time around the rest of the lights went out and there was only a single one left to create a foggy atmosphere around the centre of the room.
“I think you are adorable when jealous.” You stood up serving the wine, you knew Wanda was following you with her eyes but for now you focused your attention to the task at hand. “I still remember that time in which you saw me and Carol, there is something utterly cute about it.”
“I’m not jealous, and I don’t think being jealous counts as adorable. Or cute.”
You clicked your tongue shaking your head, the glass was soon filled with the red beverage on the bottle. You passed the glass to Wanda who received it, the glint in her eyes told you she was enjoying the changed in the topic. Or perhaps, what she was enjoying was your attention. You nodded to her mobile taking your glass in your hands.
“They give you control of the room, didn’t they?”
Wanda pursed her lips glancing at her phone while nodding.
“Mr. Stark taught me the basics, and how to make sure that everything was perfect for the show.” Wanda mumbled, she gasped when you grabbed the phone seeking the app where Wanda was trying to handle the dome.
“You took my playlist, didn’t you?” This time around there was a hint of affection tainting your voice, Wanda nodded as if it was obvious.
“I wanted this to be about you.” She mumbled well aware that your eyes were now on her.
“Let’s make this about you and me, then.” You ran your thumb around the playlist until you found the song you were looking for. Your mouth broke into a smirk, and the sudden glint of mischief that appeared in your eyes made Wanda winced.
“What are you thinking?”
You left your glass of wine, stretching your hand to Wanda who took it without thinking it twice.
“Dance with me, my love.”
Wanda looked away with a tiny smile on her lips, her cheeks burning up while she started shivering under your hold. You stepped closer waiting for the song to start, your body moulding perfectly against Wanda’s one.
“I trust you know how to dance, Wands?”
“I…I know the basics.” She replied locking her eyes with you.
“Then, let me stir you around the curves.” You winked at her, loving the sound of her laughter.
The sound of the trumpet was the first thing that came into the speakers, and soon the music formed around the voice of Elle Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. Wanda snickered gasping when you twirled her around before pressing her body to yours, the dance started slowly with you just swinging around.
“Why that song?” Wanda finally asked, you shrugged with memory written in your eyes.
“Mom used to listen to it, America’s mom.” You clarified, “her mother used Elle to perfect her English when they first came here.”
Wanda nodded leaning closer, her arms sneaking around the nape of your neck. You wiggled your eyebrows bringing another chuckled from the young woman.
“And she taught you how to dance?”
“Yep.”
“Mom used to teach us as well,” Wanda rested her forehead against yours, “ours was more classical, but still it was nice. She was a little obsess of making me be a debutant, and Pietro a escort in the traditional sense.”
Wanda furrowed her brows at the memory, but whatever memory came with it soon was forgotten and replaced with a content smile.
“It was actually nice, and I enjoyed it greatly.”
“I would love to dance something classical, any song in mind?” You asked tentatively, Wanda opened her eyes a little taken aback by your inquiry.
“You want to? Really?”
“Yeah, I do.”
Wanda tilted her head thinking for a moment until the song finished and the both of you stood in the middle of the room just looking at one another. The young woman leaned in kissing you tentatively, when she parted from you your heart was already trembling under the sheer passion she shared through the kiss.
“No, perhaps later, right now I want to keep spoiling you.”
Not sooner had she said this, Wanda turned around making her way to the futons resting on the floor. She fixed them with care, full aware of your curious eyes on her; woman made sure to take her jacket off of her and fix everything so the both of you could rest comfortably on the floor.
“What else did you plan?” You finally asked approaching her with the same amount of curiosity, Wanda was smiling shrugging lightly.
“You’ll see, don’t be impatient.” Wanda hesitated for a moment before turning to you, “do you mind serving the wine and bring it over?”
“Not at all.” With one last glance you turned to the table ready to serve the wine when all of a sudden the lights went out.
You froze on the spot, lifting your head to see if perhaps it had been a malfunction in the system or there was something else involved. Soon, you could feel the breeze touching your heated face, the small resounding of drums that went increasing until music of ancient design filled the room and a single dot of white appeared on the far edge of the screen crossing the dome above your head like a shooting star.
You gasped turning around to see Wanda smiling at you, she had dismissed her heels and her coat approaching you while the music transformed into a soothing melody. She locked her eyes with yours, and while you couldn’t see it, you could feel her trembling hands on your blazer helping you out of it while fixing the posture of your sling.
No words were needed it when those fingers worked around the bottoms of your shirt and then she took you to the futons she had fixed on the ground. With a stretch out hand, you allowed her to direct you to the ground almost chocking on your spit when she knelt in front of you taking your shoes off of you.
“Wanda…” You couldn’t keep the silence, but your voice sounded strangled almost fearful to break the spell the both of you seemed to be in.
“This is about you.” She replied simply, crawling to you her lips found yours in the sweetest of kisses the both of you had shared so far.
You found yourself on your back, those lips dancing with yours in a silent invitation. Your heart was beating hard, you were sure the sound of the drums had long ago been replaced by the sound of your heart. Your put your open hand on the back of Wanda’s neck putting her closer until you were on your back and she was almost on top of you.
“I love you.” Wanda all but whisper in your ear, her face almost hidden in the crook of your neck while her warm breath caressed the skin behind your ear.
There was a moment of silence, your heart finally stopped while you registered those words coming from her. You never expected Wanda to say those three words any time soon, you understood the kind of pressure she had been in, and the life she had been living before meeting you. Hell, the amount of time the both of you had known each other wouldn’t give you both enough time to say such a deep declaration, yet you couldn’t deny what you had been feeling for the woman hovering above you at the moment.
Your eyes found those emerald ones, the affection she had always shown you was there gleaming with hope. She waited with her lips swollen, and a dust of pink on her cheeks; Wanda leaned in her nose playing with yours while her eyes closed to engrave the moment in her mind.
“I love you.” She said it again, this time around louder, stronger and you knew she meant it. Every single word.
Your eyes flickered soon to the screen above your head, this time around everything changed and it was as if the both of you were right outside. The night sky was gleaming above your head, with a million started twinkling merrily at you, the start gliding slowly until the movement of the starts start speeding up and soon everything changed and the first constellations came upon the screen.
Wanda could see the stars reflecting in your eyes, she was very careful with her weight always favouring your right side. Her lips curled into a smile when your face lit up with glee at the sight above your head; she remembered the first time she asked for help. America and Hope had been so sure about their proposal that Wanda couldn’t say no, but she opted to add some of the things she had learned from you in those conversations in the middle of the night.
“I love you, too.” You finally replied back, this time around those eyes were filled with affection and completely focused on Wanda.
The young woman dipped her head turning on her side until she was resting right beside you, her hand sneaking comfortably around your midsection.
“I’m sorry it took me this long to say it,” Wanda started but before you could reply she shot you a quick glance shaking her head, “you had been my saviour in so many ways. You can imagine where I was when I first met you.”
“I was a bitch on that meeting.” You recalled, but Wanda merely chuckled nodding.
“You were and I hated you for that.” Wanda turned to you never losing her smile or the affection in her voice, “and then I got to know you and I was…confused. You were making me feel so much, in so little time, and I was afraid.”
Wanda snuggled closer to you, “I’m not afraid anymore, and after thinking about it I realized I love you. As in, I’m in love with you, Y/N, and I don’t think I can stop my heart right now…”
“Why would you stop it?” You inquired turning on your side, wincing when you put some stressed on your left arm.
“I don’t know, what if…”
You leaned in kissing Wanda before she could finish her sentence, Wanda giggled welcoming the kiss before making sure you were back on your back instead of putting some unnecessary stress on your arm.
“Don’t think about the what ifs, Wanda.” You nodded to the sky above your heads, the music had changed into winds and cords, and the story of the first constellations came to be right in front of your eyes.
“I know it is too soon, still. That there is a lot to work on, but if you allowed it…I will be by your side until the last start in the sky had been consume by time.”
Wanda leaned closer to you, her face hidden once more by your neck though this time around you could feel her lips on your neck.
“How do you do it? How can you say such things and make me tremble until there is nothing else but you?”
“It’s a gift.” You chuckled when Wanda lifted her face rolling her eyes.
“I want to be with you, for as long as you want me, Y/N.”
“Then, let’s be together.” You sneaked your arm around her putting her on top of you, “let’s be a family and see where it goes.”
“I love you, and I just wanted to make sure you knew it.” Wanda insisted, you nodded pecking her nose.
“I know.”
“I wanted to make of this night something special,” Wanda said her hand lifting to cup your face and soon her fingers started dancing down your jaw to your neck to the open shirt. For you it was soon evident what she meant, and while she tried to look confident in what she was doing you could see the flash of uncertainty in her eyes.
Her hand was trembling, whatever expertise she had tried to show soon vanished when you realized she was getting closer to your chest.
“You don’t have to…you know?” You could see the glint of hesitation in her green eyes, Wanda clenched them closed in frustration. “Hey, Wands…look at me.”
It took a moment, but then she lifted her eyes and soon she was looking right at you.
“I don’t need sex to know I love you and that my heart is already yours, Wands. And I don’t need you to prove it to me; Wands whenever you are ready I’ll be here more than happy to make you scream in passion.”
Wanda gasped this time around her blush grew from her chest all the way to her cheeks, she tried to look away from you but you made it impossible for her to do so. Your wounded arm finding her face in a single caress.
“How can you be so understanding? God, I just…” Wanda leaned against your touch, “I feel foolish.”
“Never, Love, I just know… and I’m not in any hurry, whenever you are ready, I’ll be ready as well.”
Wanda sighed and whatever tension had been building around her left her body, this time around, when she kissed you she did it with the promise of the future. She laid down by your side, and soon she focused her stare on the stars above your head.
“I love it, this moment just you and me…”
“I thought we need it, you have been amazing with the twins but…” Wanda trailed off shrugging, “I think we were also needing this time to know one another. To actually share in an alone time.”
You smiled nodding your agreement, her hand found yours and soon your fingers intertwined with hers. The stars danced above your heads, and soon your voice joined the music and the different scenes playing with the constellations. You filled in the gaps with the stories you recognized, with Wanda asking questions or helping in the narration until soon you two were talking about mythology and reality.
“I wish this night would never end,” Wanda whispered glancing at the projection of the stars above her head, the show was about to end and she couldn’t help but voice what she had been experimenting in her heart.
“It doesn’t have to be over.” You replied turning to Wanda, the other woman furrowed her brows and you pressed your lips together turning on your side so you were facing her.
“Someday, right?” Wanda replied locking her eyes with yours.
“Someday.”
She smiled snuggling closer to you, “for now I wouldn’t say no to you sleeping with me, I mean without…I…”
You snickered placing a kiss on her forehead, “I know.”
“Did you imagine this will end like this?” Wanda finally asked, her eyes focusing on the sky above her head.
“No, I imagine it will start like this.” You glanced at the same stars, the same shooting star you saw at the beginning gleaming in the distance ready to travel through the sky.
“What do you mean?” Wanda scrunched up her nose, you placed a single kiss on her forehead nodding to the sky.
“I imagine this is how my relationship with you will start, and that after today we just ready to face the new challenges this relationship may bring.” You shrugged glancing down at Wanda, “I’ve been in love before, but…with you? It feels right, as if I was waiting for you.”
Wanda opened her eyes lightly before her expression softened.
“I realised that when…when you stood by my side regardless of my past.” Wanda rested her head on your shoulder, “I think this is the first time I have been in love and, I want you to be the only one.”
“well, love, you have a shooting star to make your wishes a reality.” You pointed to the screen and soon the shooting star crossed the dome and the show was over.
“what did you wish for?” Wanda inquired turning to you, you winked at her nuzzling her nose with yours.
“It’s a secret.”
“That’s not fair! You know what I ask for!”
“I do?” You furrowed your brows, Wanda nodded looking away for a moment before locking her eyes with yours.
“I wish for you to be my one and only love.”
You were shocked for a moment, but soon you answered to such words by kissing Wanda softly.
“And you?” Wanda finally said once you parted from the kiss.
“Me? Well, love, you will have to wait.” You smirked when Wanda seemed indignant at your declaration.
“Oh, come on!”
You pocked her nose, leaning in to kiss her pouting face away.
“Nu-uh, Princess, patience is a virtue, and I know you will know what I wish for with time.”
Wanda groaned in mock frustration, she was about to stand up but her hand grabbed her phone and soon a new projection started in the dome. You raised a single eyebrow when Wanda pinned you to the futon, her lips curling into a mischievous smile.
“Well, then, meanwhile I will just do the second part of my wish.”
“Second part?” Wanda nodded leaning in.
“Yep, I wish to kiss you, and show you how much I love you, how much I thank the skies for having me given the opportunity of meeting you.” Wanda then leaned closer to your face, “I wish to kiss you until the story above our heads is no more and the only option you have is to take me home and spend the night with me.”
“Then, my lady, allow me to make those wishes a reality.”
Their laughter soon filled the dome, and it came accompanied by a sudden gasp and the sound of kissing and playful banter.
Wanda never imagined that her decision to leave Vision would end up with her finding herself, while in the process getting a job and making new friends. Not even in her wildest dreams did Wanda imagine that she would come across someone like you that, for the very first moment create a lasting impression on her to the point Wanda decided to explore the relationship.
Her past had finally stayed in the past, with Vision in jail and her getting the full custody of her children, Wanda now was sure she could secure her future while at the same time seek out the peace and happiness she so desperately needed. Now, with you kissing her slowly while sharing a moment of pure, and unrestrained happiness, Wanda knew that every single decision she had taken had led her to that moment, it had led her to you.
And she didn’t regret it.
With you, Wanda understood that she didn’t need to lie to herself, that she didn’t need to hide or to run. With you, Wanda discovered she could be herself and finally give in.
To be loved, and to love.
That was all that matter.
**********
Three years later
Morning had arrived with a bright sun, and no clouds in the sky.
You served the coffee while glancing out the window, the sound of running footsteps brought a smile to your face knowing that the holidays were the perfect opportunity for the twins to break havoc. No sooner had you thought this, Billy and Tommy came through the door wearing the baggy pants and the t-shirt they had chosen to wear that day.
“Morning, Y/N!” Billy came to you wrapping his arms on your midsection before going to the fridge, Tommy chuckled sitting down on the stool waiting until Billy brought two glasses and set the orange juice on the table.
“You guys have a lot of energy for a Monday morning.” You hummed when they shook their heads innocently.
“Nu-uh, just…America told us she would take us to the lake.” Tommy said shrugging.
“And, we haven’t said anything about…you know.” Billy mumbled looking around the room before settling his eyes on you, “so we thought you would be happy to know we will be out of your hair today!”
You chuckled ruffling his hair affectionately, setting your coffee on the table while serving the orange juice to the boys.
They had grown a great deal and now at seven they were far smarter than you or even Wanda gave them credit for. Three years ago, you never thought possible to fall in love again, nor did you thought whatever started as a tentative relationship would end up being the best that happened to you. You glanced at the boys that started talking animatedly while mentioning the different places America and Kate were supposed to taken them to, you smiled knowing your sister adored them and was about ready to do whatever they wanted as long as she got to spend some time to them.
You sighed leaning against the counter taking a long sip from the coffee, in the last years a lot of things had changed in your life. America had finally found her passion, she had decided to pursue a career in international affairs and her path led her directly into one of the most important universities in Europe, which ended up with Kate studying a couple of miles away from her. Whatever had started as a school crush, it had developed into a serious relationship that both of them had dealt with maturity.
You had finally gotten the time you needed to organise the business, and while your presence was always required when important matters arise, you had taken it upon yourself to be in charge of the development section of the company. It was easier, and it gave you the time you needed to spend with Wanda and the children.
The sound of childish argument brough a smile into your face, soon you caught the well-known voice of your girlfriend and your heat melt right away when Wanda appeared behind the hall wearing a familiar frown while placing her hands on her hips.
“Okay, you two, stop this argument right now or there won’t be any outing with America.”
“Yes, mum!” The twins said at the same time focusing on their beverages.
You locked your eyes with Wanda, your lips curling into a smile while the woman softened completely making her way to where you were standing casually. She leaned in pecking your lips while stealing your mug.
“Morning.” You whispered wrapping your arm around her hips, she giggled leaning forward before accepting a deeper kiss.
“Ugh, mom!”
“Y/N!”
You finished the kiss turning to them, “I will hold you to this moment when you guys bring over your partners home and decided to kiss them in front of us.”
“No!”
“Never!”
“I would never be this corny!”
“Never!”
You chuckled rolling your eyes, Wanda leaned in kissing you one more time before going to the coffee maker and serving another cup of coffee. You glanced at your watch knowing America would be there any moment now, your heart beating a tad bit faster while the heavy void you had felt on your lower abdomen increased and your chest tightened at what you had planned for the day.
Tommy and Billy glanced at one another before placing their hands on their mouth and snickering, you mock glared at them and the sudden exchanged didn’t go amiss to Wanda. The young woman narrowed her eyes standing right beside you.
“Okay, what is it?” She asked, and her suspicions only grew when the three of you answered at the same time.
“Nothing!”
You glanced at the twins, the three of you started laughing while Wanda softened her features. Even if she got curious, and a little wary, she couldn’t help but love these moments in which you and the twins would behave like a family. Once she had given in, you became the light of her life, your smile and your occurrences were always a source of amusement and tenderness, and the twins had come to love you in ways Wanda thought would be difficult to do so. They accept you faster than what she thought, and ever since that day after the planetarium you and her had been together in the good, the bad, the ugly and the pretty.
“You guys…” Wanda started but whatever she was going to say was cut short by a knock on the door.
“Save by the bell, guys! That must be America, love.” You gave Wanda a quick peck on her lips before running towards the door, once more the twins looked at one another before holding back their snickers.
“Okay, what is it?”
“Nu-uh, mom, it’s a secret!” Tommy said emptying the glass in a single sip.
“We promised not to say anything, mom.” Billy continued shrugging before approaching Wanda and offering her a hug, “but I love you!”
Wanda narrowed her eyes hugging Billy back, “I love you too, both of you.”
“Hey!! Where are my favourite guys in the whole world?!”
America stretched her arms to welcome Billy and Tommy, Kate rolled her eyes moving past them with a smile to greet Wanda. Wanda chuckled when their attention turned to Kate, America approached her wrapping her arms around the young woman.
“Ugh, I missed you so much, Wands! How’s everything? My sister still giving you trouble?”
“Hey! I never gave her any trouble, did I?” You pouted standing beside Wanda, the other woman shook her head putting you closer to her.
“Never, my love, you are a well-behaved girlfriend whenever you and the twins are not playing to break havoc.” Wanda pecked your lips turning to America. “Everything is perfect, but I have a feeling my girlfriend and my sons are planning something I should know about.”
This times around America opened her eyes with her mouth hanging opened, Kate gasped and the twins put their hands on their mouths. You snorted rolling your eyes, with this level of secrecy it was a surprised Wanda had not really discovered what you had planned for her that day.
“No, I mean there is no…Oh, look at the time, guys are you ready?” Kate babbled looking around while trying to evade any interaction with Wanda who had her eyes on her.
America snorted softening her stare while her girlfriend took the twins to their room, she then turned to Wanda who had a single eyebrow lifted waiting for an explanation she would not receive. At least, not from America.
“Don’t look at me, I’m just a passerby ready to take the twins on an adventure of a lifetime.” She said lifting her arms, Wanda snorted turning to you.
“You know, sooner or later I will find out your secrets?”
“I’m counting on it, Wands.” You whispered leaning in to kiss her, “now, how about you go and take a bath and I help America around.”
Wanda nodded dreamily, she gave you a quick smile before turning to America and giving the young woman another hug.
“It is good to see you again, America, see you tonight at dinner, right?”
“Yeo, we will be there!” America glanced at Wanda walking away, she waited until she was pretty sure Wanda had left before turning to you. “Well?”
“Well? You’re the one who should tell me if everything is ready!” You whispered harshly at your sister glancing down the corridor before settling your eyes on America.
The young woman rolled her eyes, but her lips played a familiar smile while she tapped something on her phone. Soon you were giving a fine idea of what she had prepared with the help of Kate and your friends; it had been hard at first to get what you needed to make of that day special. Your face lit up completely, and America could see the ghost of a smile on your lips while your eyes scanned the images she had store on her phone.
When you first shared with America your intentions, the young woman had been excited. In the last couple of years, she had seen the love between you and Wanda grow in something completely different. It was not the same relationship you shared with Shuri, and certainly it wasn’t the same type of relationship Wanda had shared with Jarvis. The both of you had been the best that could happen to the other, Wanda had learnt to love and be love, to trust in herself while also trust in the affection others held for her. You learnt to let go and to actually trust in the person beside you, you got to see how Wanda was ready to be a part of your life without losing her own little universe with the twins.
It had been a rocky path, there were fights, and sometimes it was quite difficult to fight against the demons of the past. But, America knew, if it hadn’t been because of the deep love you two felt for one another, the relationship would have been over years ago.
“I think she will love it, and I’m just…” America trailed off before offering you a quick hug, “I think this is amazing.”
You sighed putting your hand inside your pocket, the squared box resting inside your pocket.
“Thank you, this looks amazing.” You glanced at the hall before turning to America, “at what time you think we can go over there?”
“Mmm, I would say the best would be around 4pm, we will be there waiting for you so…” America waved her hands excited, “God, I can’t hardly wait, please tell me if anything happens.”
“I will, Kiddo, thank you.” You wrapped your arms around her, “I really missed you.”
“I missed you too.” America chuckled when she caught the excited chatter of the twins and Kate coming over, “now, I will take them off of your plate for a while, we will have time to get up to date, for now, go!”
“Yes, ma’am.”
You watched as they left in the midst of laughter and light conversation, your hand sneaking inside your pocket putting out the black box you had bought a long time ago. Your heart skipped a beat, your hand clenching tightly around it ready to give the next step in your relationship with Wanda. Your lips broke into a tender smile, the memories of the last three years filling up your mind with determination and love.
“Y/N?”
You put the box away turning to see Wanda approaching you slowly, the swinging of her hips and that flirty smile she wore made your mouth go dry and your lower abdomen tingled with anticipation.
“Yes?” You asked, Wanda came to you chewing on her lower lip playfully.
“Since the kids are gone, and you and I are alone, I thought…we could shower together, don’t you think?” This was said in a low, husky tone, her lips wrapping around your earlobe while her hands sneaked inside your shirt.
“I think…you have a wicked mind, Wands.” You replied, but before Wanda could do or said anything else you took her in your arms crashing your lips to hers.
Needless to say, you and she left the home later than what you should, but the both of you had satiated the thirst you had for one another.  Love evident in your faces, as you walked around the city hand by hand.

The country of Sokovia was a beautiful land with a rich past and a colourful landscape.
Wanda had been excited when you announced the trip, not really believing you were going to comply with her wishes until you present her with the four plane tickets. By the time you four had arrived at the city of Novi Grad, Wanda had been completely excited telling you and her children all about her hometown. She spoke of the difficult times they had lived, and the wonderful things the new government had done to fix the mistakes of the past.
Billy and Tommy had been avid listeners, and they had started talking to Wanda and to you in sokovian while Wanda was just completely happy with the development on their vacations. You had been just happy to see her smile, to see the excitement in her eyes when she pointed to all the places she remembered.
“I still can believe you brought me here.” Wanda said sitting down on the table right outside a beautiful balcony looking at the far away mountains covering half of the city.
“Why not?” You replied taking the menu with a smile, “if anything, I should be sorry for taking so long, but you know? Life has been getting in the way, and I wanted for you to have time to enjoy this place.”
Wanda didn’t know how you did it, the way you were always giving it your all to make her happy. She leaned forward placing her hand on top of yours.
“This is perfect, and it’s the perfect time.”
You smiled back at her, looking at the menu while glancing at the watch on your wrist. You were getting restless as the time for the main event approached; Wanda was looking at her menu pursing her lips before returning her attention to you.
“Can I order something for you? There is something in here I want you to try out…” She trailed off glancing away for a moment, a shadow crossing her eyes, “it is something mom used to cook for me and Pietro and I just…”
“I would love to, Wands. Go ahead, you’re the expert so we will do as you said.” You replied closing the menu, you waited until the food had been ordered before leaning forward playing with Wanda’s fingers.
“You know? Now that you mentioned this about the food, I remember the story you told me once.”
“Which one?” Wanda furrowed her brows blinking away while trying to remember.
“The one about the forest, is around here, isn’t it?”
The way her eyes opened wide, and her whole face lit up made your heart skipped a beat. You couldn’t take your eyes off of her as she turned around trying to point out the direction in which the forest was located.
“Yes! Oh, I can believe you remember…”
“I remembered everything you tell me, love.” You replied, and it was the tone of voice you used what made Wanda turned to you with narrowed eyes, you softened your features offering a reassuring smile to her.
“I always make the effort to have it in my mind so I can make sure to bring happiness to you, to see the very same expression you are wearing at the moment.”
Wanda turned her head away, her cheeks burning bright red while she smiled tenderly at your words. Even after all this time you still got to make her feel so self-conscious of the love you profess to her.
“I love you for that.” Wanda finally said, and you smiled back at her winking.
“Well, what about you and I go over there after lunch? I’m pretty sure at this time of the year must be quite the sight.”
“You mean it?” Wanda exclaimed excitedly, you nodded and soon thank the heavens you were sitting down for the kiss she gave you made your knees trembled and your whole body tingled with anticipation.
******
The afternoon was falling slowly, the wind was cold so the burning sun above your heads was not as strong as it could have been in a dry weather.
You and Wanda walked down the city, your hand joined in a single embrace while conversation flew with easiness. The topics varied from school, to your work, to the recent happenings of the world, to the twins and America; soon you two found yourselves talking about movies and books, the places you would like to visit or the worlds you would like to be in.
Life with Wanda was never bored, and every single time you discovered something new about her that made you fall in love with her even more.
Her excitement at being in her country was something you would cherish forever.
She dragged you down the streets, and then down the pebbled road leading to the forest. The place had changed since she was last there, it was now a national park that had been taken care off with the strictest rules and cares a country could provide to such a beautiful setting.
You took a deep breath when the road spread before your eyes, your eyes lifted to the signs, most of them pointing to different sections of the forest. Your eyes finally fell on the word Lake, and you lifted your hand to point it out to your girlfriend.
“There, lake, can we go there?”
“Yes, of course!”
You chuckled when she just grabbed your hand again, she twirled around wrapping her arms around your neck leaning in to kiss you slowly.
“Have a told you how much I love you?” She asked playfully, you placed your hands on her waist helping her walked backwards while you advanced down the road with her in your arms.
“Mmhm, not recently, no. I think I need a reminder.”
Wanda giggled leaning in, her kisses were soft and tentative, “I love you, Y/N, every time I think this is not possible, I fall in love with you even more and I just…”
Your heart shrank at her confession, putting her to you with your lips moulding against hers you poured all the love you felt for her.
“I love you to, Wands.”
Wanda sighed standing by your side lifting her face to the trees above her, her eyes gleaming happily just as the both of you advanced towards the lake. The forest was located it twenty minutes away from the city, and the entrance had been built around a public parking lot where people could acquire all the necessary materials for camping or a nice picnic. Some of the different paths had been fixed to give easy access to the people that visit the place, but the road leading to the lake had been left untouched with the nature almost claiming it back.
You were admiring the huge trees surrounding the area, the sound of the birds and other animals running around to hide away from the humans. You lifted your stare to see the blue sky above your head, and the cold breeze touching your heated skin. Everything was quiet and peaceful, only the sound of your footsteps seemed to interrupt the sounds of the nature.
Your eyes lifted squinting them when you spot the opening right ahead of you, your lips curling slightly when you finally spotted something else. You had arrived to the lake, with a quick gesture you stood before Wanda stopping her advanced towards her destination.
“What is it?” Just like she did early in the morning, she narrowed her eyes with a glint of suspicion gleaming in them. You shifted your weigh from one foot to the other, your hand scratching the back of your neck while your eyes danced around instead of facing Wanda.
You stood before her, your hand sneaking inside your pocket until you brough forth a single blindfold. She cocked a brow, half-amused, half-expectant at what you had planned.
“I may or may not have planned something for you.” You said tentatively, Wanda snorted but all you could see in her face was love and amusement.
“Figures, and I bet Billy, Tommy, America and Kate are in it?” She already knew the answer, but there was something else she couldn’t pinpoint to.
“Yep.” You admitted lifting your hand, “there is something… I mean, it is a surprised.”
“And I have to wear the blindfold.” Wanda grabbed the piece of clothing, never losing her smile, she winked at you, “kinky, perhaps later on we can use it for other…kind of surprised?”
You laughed out loud shaking your head while helping the brunette put on the blindfold.
“I love how your wicked mind works, Mrs. Maximoff.”
“Well, I love it when you play along, Mrs. Y/L/N.”
You let out a deep breath, the sun was still high in the sky and now Wanda stood before you blindfolded. Her hand found yours, squeezing comfortingly with that beautiful smile you had come to love and crave.
“Are you okay?” She finally asked, you swallowed down your doubts nodding before you remembered she couldn’t see you.
“I am.” Then, as an afterthought, “I’m just nervous.”
Wanda brought your hand to her lips, never losing her smile.
“Whatever it is you prepared for me, I know I would love it and…Y/N…there is no one else I would love to be with right now, you are the love of my life.”
You chuckled loving the tenderness Wanda used when talking to you, the fact she had come to know your insecurities and was always ready to reassure you of her love and your worth.
“And you are mine, Wands, now let’s go…”
You grabbed her hand and without wasting any more time you led her down the road towards the lake.
The lake was a great extension of water that spread out before a small beach surrounded by the forest. It was filled with grass, trees and bushes, with a crystalline water that was reflecting the light of the sun and the colour of the sky at the moment. This part of the forest was usually used for light lunches, and some swimming but at this time of the year the place was emptied and you had taken advantage of your money to get this small spot for you and your family for a couple of hours.
There was a single bench that had been decorated with red and pink, there were some balloons with a bucket filled with ice and wine. You helped your girlfriend so she could sit on the bench, all around her there was nothing more than flowers, blue lilies and orchids, the full scene had been planned out and built with the help of America and Kate that had just come from their hiding place with the twins.
You smiled at them putting a finger to your lips, standing before Wanda you pulled your mobile out of your pocket and let a single song filled the silence around the both of you.
“Oh, that’s…” Wanda trailed off when she recognized the trumpets and the melodic voice of Elle Fitzgerald. “Y/N…”
Your name sound beautifully on her lips, you took a deep breath looking around the place knowing you had chosen right. The lake was gleaming to your right, while the forest stood to your left, the mountains wearing a white bald head projected a protective shadow on the valley. This was what Wanda had always desired, what she had harboured in her heart when she still believed in love.
“Y/N…” She repeated your name, this time around with a hint of apprehension in her voice.
You knelt before her, your left knee touching the ground while your right knee bend to hold your elbow up your hand opening the box you had been carrying with you for over a year.
“You can take the blindfold off, Wanda.” You finally said, and your voice trembled with the sheer emotion you were experimenting at the moment.
Wanda took her blindfold, soon her breath caught in her throat and whatever sight she had before her became a blurred of colours and familiar images. Right in front of her was the lake and the forest of her childhood, the very same she had visited in her mind and memory after leaving Sokovia behind. Her green eyes flickered around until they found your eyes, and soon they fell upon the box in your hand and the silver ring resting in there.
The music was still playing around the both of you, and Wanda wanted to see if there was someone else or if the both of you were alone. But she was incapable of looking everywhere but at you.
Your lips trembled, your hand trying to hold still as you cleared your throat lifting your chin to face her with determination and love.
“Wanda Maximoff, I have brought you here because I love you.” You stated taking a deep breath making sure you never wavered in your intentions. “I realized a long time ago I can’t even think of the possibility of not having you by my side, of not living and growing old with you.”
Wanda sat frozen on the bench, her heart hammering hard against her chest while her stomach drop and her body tingled all over until a heavy pressured settled on her chest.
“I have loved you from the moment I met you, I just didn’t know it yet.” You chuckled shaking your head, “and I would love to make you happy, to love you, to cherish you, and to be your friend, your partner if you allow me…so, today in this place and with my heart on my hands, I want to ask you…”
“Yes…” Wanda whispered, you furrowed your brows shaking your head.
“No, wait, I need to ask…”
“Marry me?” Wanda asked, her voice trembling and her lips breaking into a content smile, you frowned though your eyes gleamed with amusement.
“No, you marry me, please?”
Wanda threw herself at you, her arms wrapped tightly around you while you fell to the ground hugging her back. She was sobbing, her voice a mere whispered in your ear.
“Yes, yes, I will…Yes, I marry you.”
You laughed turning your head and kissing her deeply.
“Then, yes, I marry you too, Wands.”
America and Kate both rolled their eyes, but the twins were squealing excitedly no longer able to hold themselves the run towards you and Wanda joining in the embrace.
Wanda turned to them surprised, returning their hug while turning to you and stretching her left hand where you placed the ring on her finger. Your smile was huge, and it was matching hers with the twins hugging both of you while talking excitedly.
“That means I can call you mom now?!” Tommy finally asked with you almost choking on your spit.
Wanda rolled her eyes fixing his hair before lifting her eyes to glance at you.
“Only if she wants to, Tommy.”
“You want to, don’t you, Y/N?” Tommy asked pouting, you ruffled his hair putting him to you.
“Only if I get to call you Tommy bear!”
Laughter soon filled the lake, with everyone enjoying the rest of the afternoon while you alongside with Kate, America and Wanda toast to the engagement.
“I can believe you…” Wanda closed the distance tilting her head to taste your lips with hers, you smile into the kiss with your hands placing themselves on her hips.
“You remember…” She said softly, in between kisses.
“I never forgot, Wands. With you, everything is easier, you know? I love you, and I just…I want to make you happy.”
“You make me happy already.” She replied leaning into your embrace, “but I will be complete the moment I can call you my wife.”
You smiled placing a single kiss on her forehead.
“I will be complete the moment I can call you wife as well.”
Wanda turned in your arms, her eyes following her children while they talked and played along with America and Kate. You placed your chin on her shoulder, watching the same scene with a soft smile adorning your features. The young woman lifted her hand to see the ring you had placed moments ago, a green stone that matched her eyes and white gold recovering the ring.
Her life was finally hers, and her happiness was finally something she knew she deserved and that was right there for her to live it. Wanda never imagined the moment she made the decision of leaving Vision her life would change so drastically, she never even played with the idea of falling in love again or finding someone ready to be patient with her past and fall in love with her.
Wanda never entertained the idea of anyone wanting to marry someone like her, damage and with two kids that were still growing up. Then, she met you. And she couldn’t imagine being without you by her side.
With you, she learnt to love again, to trust and to give herself without fear.
“Tonight, America and Kate are taking the twins to a festival and then back to their Air BnB so…we have the house for ourselves, to celebrate.” You whispered playfully, Wanda leaned back placing her hands on yours.
She tilted her head with her lips teasing yours.
“Then, let’s celebrate with them first, before I show you my appreciation for all the wonderful things you do for me.”
“It’s a deal, Love.”
“Y/N.” She called your name with a serious tone, you turned to her welcoming her kiss before smiling goofily at her.
“What was that for?”
“I love you.” She said simply, you softened squeezing her hand comfortingly.
“I love you, now and forever.”
And, of that, Wanda didn’t have any doubt for she too love you now and forever, until the end of time.

Ectoberhaunt 2023. Day 17. Blood and Flesh.
CW: TW! Recurrent pregnancy loss. TW!Abortion. TW!Bleeding
Maddie: Jack, we need to talk. I know this is gonna sound crazy but I think Phantom, the ghost boy, is actually our son. And I’m sure Danny and Jazz know about it too.
What if we bring down on the Fentons the knowledge that they have ghost children without revealing Phantom’s identity?
Text+Chat+Memes=Prompt:
Of course Maddie wanted to have children. But…Not in college. She felt it was too soon. The lack of stable earnings and time were not conditions for growing a new person. She had nothing to give this potential child. Maddie did not hesitate long before deciding to have an abortion.
And for years, neither Jack nor Maddie have thought about this unplanned pregnancy.
Ectoplasm is toxic, obviously. But since ectology was only recently recognized by the scientific community, no one has ever fully analysed the effects of ectoplasm on the body.
When Maddie and Jack had the misfortune to become one of those couples experiencing recurrent pregnancy loss, they immediately suspected that the ectoplasm in their lab contributed to their reproductive difficulty. Put simply, death didn’t go with life.
They may not always have followed the lab’s safety rules perfectly, but is that why one of their first works will be exposing a teratogenic effect of ectoplasm? What if they’ve lost their only chance to be biological parents?
What a cruel price to pay for the work of life. Jack and Maddie so dreamed of their little happiness. Do they have to forget about it?
No, the Fentons don’t give up that easily!
They may have to spend a few years doing only theoretical work, but they’ll try again.
~~~~~
Ectoplasm is toxic. Tests, hopes…and a few miscarriages too.
Jazz was a miracle. Fenton family literally didn’t get out of hospitals to look after her health.
Danny was an even bigger miracle, because they didn’t have any hope of having a second child. Maddie and Jack didn’t even plan this pregnancy. Danny was born premature, with signs of hypoxia... but alive. His potential twin was not so lucky. Single intrauterine fetal death (sIUFD).
Right. Death still followed them. Of course, parents didn’t tell Jazz and Danny that they might have had another brother. It was their grief. Children had no reason to know about it.
~~~~~
"You filthy ghost!" Maddie stopped to rest after a chase for elder Phantom.
"Exhausted?" Dan was flying at a safe distance from her. "Maybe it’s time to retire, Maddie? A little exercise never stopped you before." The ghost was clearly making fun of her.
"Not going to happen, I’ll do it until I die if Amity Park need it. And my son will be here to stop you instead of me after me or Jack."
The smile on Ghost’s face faded immediately. "I hope he die first." The ghost whispered in a hoarse voice."It's best for everyone."
"What did you say?" Maddie rose up in anger, pointing her weapon at it.
"Has any thought crossed your mind about what happens to your children if anything happens to you? Go out every day and yell like idiots, attracting all the ghosts around." An ectoblast is blowing right up against her temple and crashing into the wall. The ghost frowned and turned away. "Did you ever think that Danny wouldn’t want to live without you? Did you think that he would be hurt if he had to lose you? No! Is it always about your stupid desires and ambitions, Mom."
For a moment Maddie thought he it was looking at her like it had seen a ghost, which was obviously just ridiculous. Maddie wanted to laugh about it, but somehow she couldn’t. Why would the ghost trying to fake human emotion care to hide the tears that gather in the corners of its eyes?
Maddie tried to get it out of her head. Anyway, it’s not that important. Phantoms have always been atypical. She’ll come home, take a warm shower, and tell Danny how much she loves him.
~~~~~
Maddie: My son is a strong boy and Dan: He’s weak! He’s a freak! He can’t handle it, Mom!
Maddie had long pondered this theory since the day Jack admitted that Phantom had misspoke during the fight and called him his father but she had never experienced it before. Or maybe she wasn’t paying attention.
Maddie: Hey, Phantom, just a question, how old are you? Dan: Why are you changing the subject? Twenty-four, twenty-five… Hell, I don’t remember. Stopped counting after 17, nobody cares anyway. And her first months dating Jack were 24 years ago. Right. The eyebrows, the shape of eyes and the height is all from Jack. The waist and the side eye from her. Theoretically. Still need more proof.
~~~~~~
Dan: Is this all your frail human form can do?
Maddie walked past the Casper High playground when she saw a ghost flying around. It was one of the new ones. The Phantom’s full-grown specimen. More dangerous. And totally unpredictable. Maddie squeezed the gun harder. Her theories are just theories and she can’t have such a dangerous spirit near the school, near her children.
Danny: Shut up and give me my bottle of water, asshole.
This voice. Maddie stopped in shock. What’s her boy doing so close to a ghost? He’s always so terrified of them.
Dan: No pull-ups, no water. You need muscles. Without them you’re gonna look like a worm if you’re gonna grow up to be taller than Jack as I am.
Danny: Just so you know, you’re a terrible big brother and I hate you.
Dan: Well, that just means I’m doing a good job.
Danny: When Mom asks who destroyed the furniture in Vlad’s house I’m pointing at you. A little run around town will be good for you. And as they say, Older siblings are like your parents' personal science fair. They're a bunch of experiments.
Dan: ...Just so you know, it sounded completely insane. Terrible. Good job, but don’t go near Dani with those jokes. Jazz will kill us both for setting a bad example. Danny: Bad example? Since when has a good sense of humor become a bad example? Dan: Shut up. Drink water and go to the shower. Jazz is gonna kick my ass if you die of overheating.
Danny: Huh, afraid of one know-it-all? When dad chased you with a bazooka, you didn’t seem scared.
Dan: Сome on, dad has a lot of strengths, yeah, but the ability to aim isn't one of them. And not
Dani: driving a car?
Danny: Right. Wait, how long have you been eavesdropping? Dani: Long enough to blackmail you both. Сomputer’s mine for the rest of the week. Dan and Danny: Shit.
~~~~~
The Invisobill. or Phantom. Ha. Danny Fenton…Danny Phantom. Weston boy said crazy things. Yeah. But what if he was only partially wrong? Everything except the color of its eyes and hair is so much like Danny's. If this were typical manipulation from a ghost hoping to shake the desire of ghost hunters to chase a creature similar to their child, he would have had to give it up months ago. But phantom did not change his disguise. This is his true form. What about ghost girl and older ghost? They are also so young.
Maddie could not sleep. In her head struggled scientist and woman weighed down by feelings of guilt and shame. She was tormented by philosophical problems and religious issues. No, Maddie, not even a neural tube is formed at that time. It was just a collection of cells. It’s not a person. It doesn’t feel pain. And ghosts do not too. Right? Is it even acceptable to compare such things? Is it possible that a ghost is not the remnant of negative human emotions and memories? What is responsible for its formation then? What is the purpose of such a ghost? And more importantly, how long have these ghosts been near and they did not notice? Has the portal become a source of energy necessary for their existence in the physical plane? Or is it only they who have not seen them?
So painful. It’s so unpleasant to think about what monsters they look like to their dear Danny and Jazz. Ghosts or not, she threatened creatures who might have been part of their family in front of her babies. God, naive teens must think that three Phantoms are their siblings or something. Of course! That explains the disappearance of fenton thermos and the way the Phantoms sneak into the portal and Danny’s always somewhere in trouble and…Oh my God, they could be in so much danger! How long has this been going on? No, the real question is..Hm, if this is going on for so long, why haven’t the ghosts done anything…evil? If their nature is in the destruction then why didn’t anything happen? Jack and she would never have missed something that would hurt their children.
~~~~~~
The fight between the Skulker and Invisobill was particularly fierce this time. Maddie was unlucky to be in one of the damaged buildings. But who is she if not a scientist? She will find a way to benefit in such a situation.
Unnecessary risk, completely unprofessional. But… The debris of the wall does not lie on her very tightly and the weapon still with Maddie. Yeah. She has to test her theory. She has to. She can get up and leave if she needs to. Right? A little dizziness never killed anyone. She just feels cold and sounds are strange. Maddie: Help. Help! Someone! M-Maddie? An insecure voice with an echo sounds. Yes, it's near. Maddie: Help! I can’t.. I can’t get up. T-Hard to breathe. Danny: Mum! Mama, hold on, I’m coming.
Phantom checks her pupillary reflex. Who taught him that? Jazz? The touch of his hand, so cold and shaky. Now Maddie really doesn't feel so good. It’s good that the ghost is her boy. She doesn’t have to worry about anything happening to people around. Neither he nor Danny know how to lie. She can breathe. Just cover her eyes for a moment and… Just a few seconds. Phantom:Jazz, Jazz! Call an ambulance. I don’t know what to do. I..I can’t just make mum intangible. What if she has a crush syndrome and I make it worse or… Her boy. Why is Danny so scared? Danny: Tucker, she is bleeding and she’s not responding to me and… Sshh, my little star, is all right. Mom just needs to lie down and rest a little.
~~~~~~
Maddie could not believe that she had actually passed out. But the time spent in the hospital gave her enough time to think about everything.
Maddie: Jack, we need to talk. I know this is gonna sound crazy but I think Phantom, the ghost boy, is actually our son. And I’m sure Danny and Jazz know about it too.
Jack: Honey, are you sure we don’t need to double-check if you have a concussion?
~~~~~~
Maddie and Jack decide to watch surveillance videos for the first time. After all, it concerns the safety of their children, they have the right to know what happens in the house in their absence. Especially when the ghosts are nearby. Children *live in their own sitcom*:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They have seen enough. Maddie decides to check chats on Jazz’s phone. It’s for their safety, only. She’s a good mother but what if the ghosts are up to something?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The chat was so..Teenage? And Chaotic. Normal? No, definitely not. How many times have they punished Danny unfairly? Did Jazz learn to lie and they didn’t even notice? And what the hell, why were they joking about dissection. It’s just awful. They need to talk immediately. No, it will look suspicious. They need to try to make contact with ghosts. And then they’ll all be grounded. All five.
Oh, and she thought two kids were a lot of work. How are they gonna handle three more with the bizarre biology ectology? Do they have hobbies, interests? They are definitely more complicated than theblob-ghosts. Was she wrong? Do they have emotions, a need for socialization? Can she trust her emotions in this matter?
~~~~Bonus~~~~
"What the hell happened to freak’s neck?!"
Danny: Um, excuse me, ma'am, he’s been doing Hatha yoga in India for years. Practice opens up amazing flexibility in the joints! Right, brother?
Dan: Fuck off.
Ma'am: Don’t take me for an idiot! What about his skin color then? Jack: You have something against my son’s tan? Dan: I told you going shopping with me was a bad idea. Dani: If you didn’t scare everyone around, it wouldn’t be so bad.
Dan:...I didn’t even try to do it this time. Why is she meddling?!
~~~Bonus~~~~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dan: Why am I only third? Dani: Because I have successfully stabbed Danny in the back when he did not expect it. With you he is always waiting for a trick. This makes me much more successful than you :)

Blackwater X
Raiting: 18+
Warnings: Drama, trust behaviour.
A/N: and that’s how you turn love into a toxic relationship...
Tumblr media
He had her for breakfast. In the bed, ending up waking her already with a broken voice and shortness of breath. And he'd had her for breakfast again on the kitchen counter, breaking the plate he'd eaten from and a couple of glasses. But he would have gladly had his third breakfast of the day at that moment, against one of the trees, in the SUV, even standing against the fence of the refreshment ticket area, not giving a damn about whoever was around, showing them what they would never have, why they were not like him, like them.
- What a nice view - he noted with a grin, gazing the perfect curve of her glorious ass, tight in that white skirt that wrapped her up to her ankles, the same ankles that that morning she had crossed behind his head, while he was eating her alive.
Y/N turned to face him, same smile, drumming her fingers on the fence, her hair flowing over her shoulder only partially covered by the top that left a strip of caramel skin in full view just below her breasts.
Her. Just for him.
- True – she agreed, letting out a laugh when Roman put his hands on her hips to pull her against him – did you ever come here as a kid? – she asked curiously, looking away again, to put her attention to the lake where they had stopped.
It was one of the largest in that area, just outside one of the cities near the bay area and now it was a kind of park for people, a point of reference. There were kidz running everywhere, some couples with no great prospects, even a group of old people arguing animatedly over who knows what game under the huts on the other side of the bank. If he remembered correctly Heyman had advised him to approve the works for the coffee shop and the nearby store, he received dues every year, but he received them from basically the entire state, he had lost count. But he remembered that place, because years ago it wasn't like that, not even close to it.
- A few times, was outside the pack land. It was a swamp down there, with alligators swimming around and outside wasn't any better… we didn't have a good reputation at the time – he said, seeing Y/N looking at him seriously, before gently rubbing her head against his shoulder to comfort him in silence.
That part of the county far from the mouth of the river had been marshy for decades. Mud and private land as far as the eye can see, with a few useless towns in the hands of alphas that weren't worth even one of his legs. No one had ever seen potential there, especially since it bordered the edge of what was once territory that his dad and uncle had hard-won for their family. They traded, lived as a pack and for decades people had called them savages, deciding to have as few contacts as possible, investing elsewhere and forcing them to make absurd trips to earn something with shameful deals.
His family had honor, they had always refused to compromise and Roman had grown up with impossible rules, seeing his father disappear for months to ensure everyone a poor future, while his mama and uncles kept things in check. He had dealt with all the idiots and their dumbass families who had called savages after him, but he couldn't remember their faces, they had never been worth it. But he remembered the beatings that him and his cousins had taken sometimes for crossing the border when they were kidz. And he had given them back with interest.
Now no one called his family savages. No one dared even say a word from the reserve to the next state if they crossed their path. And where those little dogs had left trash for years, he had built everything, showing them that he was better, that his family was better and that they even had to thank for the air they breathed. Now everything around him was his and one day it would go to his sons and they too would do whatever they wanted.
- Have you ever swam with them? Alligators I mean - Y/N distracted him, pulling him out of his mind with a harmless movement of her hips that made him lower his head to look at her.
- I tried to avoid it - he laughed, recognizing an all too curious look on her face and her tentative to improve his mood.
- But did it happen?
- That's not a question you should asking me sneaky lil - he pinched her and the bratty face she showed him forced Roman to wedge her against the fence to press his body against hers.
What wouldn't he-
- My Tribal Chief - Heyman called and Ro stopped looking at Y/N, who just as silently, seemed as unhappy about the interruption as he was, even if he knew the reason for that face.
Her and the Wiseman didn't get along, they tolerated each other, to be honest it was a miracle that he still hadn't seen her cut off his head mercilessly. Especially since Paul had perfect timing for the wrong moments.
- I'm sorry to interrupt you, but here... that agreement that had to be signed today, things has become a lil complicated now - Paul insisted, mistaking the silence of both on them for a go-ahead.
- What's complicated? They can't write their names? – he asked annoyed, seeing Y/N suddenly turn around when Paul started laughing at the joke.
He hadn't meant to be funny, but she definitely was with that face. He was torn as to whether she was shocked or disgusted, but whatevere it was, he liked it. She was adorable, always narrowing her eyes as if she had to force herself to see better when there was nothing to see.
- My Tribal Chief, it's funny, you’re so funny. I got a call, though… it was one of the other side's lawyers, a kid I had kicked out of a Dumbo studio years ago, he wasn't even qualified to be an assistant, but apparently they've been doing charity work lately. He reminded me who he was at our first meeting and I reminded him what happened, so he must have thought to be smarter this time and do his job well
- Wise man - Roman called him back, instantly stopping the river of words that he was emptying on them, because Paul Heyman who started talking in bursts would have been too much for anyone.
- Yes, going straight to the point... there are other parties involved. They are… I quote, thinking about it.
Y/N still under his arm bent her head almost imperceptibly at that news, but Roman found himself just as quickly finally turning to his special counselor, frowning. Had he really interrupted him for that bullshit? What was that supposed to be, a joke? Now they allowed themselves to bother him and joke about business?
- There's no one except me, there’s only my family here. There's only me – he growled not at all amused, but before his mood could even cross the limit, probably making Paul cry, Y/N leaned on his arm, her ponytail full of waves swinging behind her shoulder.
-It wouldn't be a bad idea, however, going there, just for checking things - she reflected, giving a cold look to Paul who had breathed a sigh of relief.
Show up? Should he bother himself and go to them? That wasn't how it worked, he was the alpha, the head of the table, they weren't the ones dictating the rules.
- I don't have to go. It's not my place, they come to me and if they want to talk to someone, they can talk to him.
- Yes, but it would be a way to remind everyone how things are, that he's not the one running your family's business. And I already had plans for the day, remember? You have nothing to do, keep yourself busy doing something useful - she tried to reason with him and although she was right, Roman ended up turning up his nose at the idea of getting into the suv again and what's more without her.
Plans, she had plans. He knows, she'd told him during the boring breakfast and she'd been firm, but those plans didn't sit well with him.
- Naomi can wait – he muttered annoyed, making her raise an eyebrow.
- No. I'll go to her, you to take those business done or whatever should happen - she cut short, without even negotiating and Roman moved his gaze to an empty spot in the park, swallowing the bitterness that had risen in his mouth .
He didn't like knowing her in town with Naomi, he didn't like the idea of splitting up and he didn't like not knowing what might have happened since Solo had to stay with him and the twins were still around trying to undo the damage they had caused a month earlier. The instinct to stay close to her made him nervous, there were too many people in town, too many places to disappear, but he had promised to give her space now that things had changed, he said he would trust her...
He felt her tug at his neck, her face leaning softly against his, her lips leaving a quick kiss on his beard and then rubbing against his ear, sending a rush of heat into him.
- I'll be with her, I promise. No runs. Be good and I’ll be good for you too - she whispered, moving to look him straight into his eyes.
She was a blessing and his fuckin endgame.
***
Y/N was so happy to hug her again and it was a strange feeling, without a definite purpose, the simple excitement of a rekindling a bond. Since she'd crossed the border and settled there, so much had changed, but what continued to amaze her most of all were the bonds she was building. She had kept everyone at arm's length her whole life and now she had someone to come back to, someone to tolerate, people to miss. Everything had changed so quickly and so radically that she always felt like she was dealing with her first times.
- Don’t do it again! It's so strange… I missed you – she admitted, frowning and immediately prompting Naomi to break their hug to glare at her.
- Is it weird if you miss me?! Yo what?!
- I'm not used to missing someone... but now that we’re talkin’ I'm having second thoughts.
Sitting back down and taking the drink and jerking back, pretending to be offended, she watched Naomi pout to look her up and down knowingly.
- You kept yourself busy though – she teased her and Y/N nodded with an exasperated smile.
They had last spent time together the day before that night, and things were different back then. They hadn't been able to talk while she was at her parents' house, every time Y/N tried to call she didn't answer and she had hardly heard from her after the twins had left to take care of who knows what business for the family. Roman had been almost her only company for over a month and well, that said a lot about how much things had changed between them.
It was strange to talk about that, too, now that she thought about it. Another absolute first time.
- You know… I think Paul is jealous, but I get it, it's difficult to see your ex with someone else, especially if the other one is me - she joked seriously and Naomi nodded even more seriously.
- The way he looks yo mate… mmh, it’s weird.
- Don't get me started! - she smiled, trying to chase the image from her mind -But... it's going well. He takes care of me, he treats me like he should, no problems, no dramas. Sounds boring – she mused jokingly, her fingers twirling the straw inside her glass.
Y/N for one would not have bet a dollar on her and Roman together and instead they ran as if they had done nothing else before. From one moment to the next everything had been perfect and it felt so strange, because she knew she had put him in a corner with her attitude and that she was still impossible sometimes even today, but Roman hadn't backed down. He respected her, made her ask for nothing more, he had learned to control himself - not completely, but Y/N acknoledged his efforts -, he didn't miss one time and even spoiled her. On his initiative, he had also decided to make dates, to really get to know each other beyond the idea of destined mates and make up for the years they had spent apart. They had done it for an entire month, every day, but he kept to organize dates anyway to spend quality time together. It was as if everything she had avoided and pushed away, every doubt, every fear, had been shut out by him.
- Don't make that face. Don't even try! It was terrible just looking at you before, you always looked broken and I can't buy the story of you all bored and sitting at home with those marks on you – Naomi pointed out and Y/N didn't even bother to figure out where she was pointing, giving in to a laugh.
Leaving marks on her was the compromise in order not to get bitten on her weak spot, she had to grant it to him and she didn't mind in reality. He was good at those things, she acknowledged it.
- Well, its not so bad
- Wha-what? Not so bad? Now its not so bad! And you didn't want hear talking about it before!
- It has its positive sides, are you happy?
- Yes, yes
- Good!
- Good for you. Honestly when there was that story about your presentation with the elders and the trial I was worried, it didn't sound good and I didn't want it to end badly… I'm happy to see you like this – Naomi admitted, drinking a sip of her drink, but Y/N remained stunned shot.
- What? – What she was talking about? Trial, presentation? Was something she didn't get?
She watched her set down her nearly empty glass, hands raised in a silent apology at the confusion she read on her face.
- You two are true mates and the whole family was involved, I know, but even Jimmy's dad didn't see our bond well at the beginning, I know what it feels like. We both got out though! And now that Jimmy and Jey are back here, maybe we can start over? Roman will be fine with it, right? He doesn’t want problem? – she asked, her tone serious for that last question and Y/N nodded without even knowing what, so as not to remain speechless or make that moment between them one to forget.
Mate's good with us.
Her she-wolf's voice rumbled in her head as soon as a glimmer of doubt made its way into the confusion of her thoughts, but Y/N ignored her, impassive, waiting for her to silence again as she had been doing for a month now.
- Yes, yes sure. I'll talk to him – she promised, feeling Naomi take her hand to reassure her.
- Everything works out, that's how it goes when you have a big family and now you're in it too! You will get used to it! - her smile made her chest tingle, her hand tightening around hers in return.
The ringing of a phone stopped her before she could say anything and Naomi was quick to rummage through her purse to retrieve it, standing up as her eyes caught who was calling.
- Wait it's chicken nugget, they were already back.
- It's ok. I'll finish my drink – Y/N released her, mentally thanking for that moment of pause, while Naomi walked away from their table.
- Take another one for me too, I’ll be back, hey babe!
Silently Y/N saw her glow just talking to him and for a long moment she froze, watching her move past the venue, her attention fully turned to her mate, the one she had chosen for her.
She hadn't chosen Roman as Naomi with Jimmy or her parents, but she had chosen to give Roman and their bond a chance. She had chosen to build something, to move on, to open up and it had all gone so well since then that Y/N didn't know what to feel now. Part of her wanted to go back to being angry, but had to?
They had talked about what had happened that day. He had said that he had been cornered for some reasons, that he was mad for all the pressure his family was putting on him, the responsibilities and by what she understood from Naomi's speech, he had not lied. Not completely. He hadn't told her she was the reason for that pressure, but maybe he hadn't because she wasn't the only reason. Now Y/N knew what he faced every day, he told her about the plans, he showed her what he had worked hard to achieve, Y/N had listened to him talk about what his family had gone through in the past, what he had gone through and how those efforts had changed everything. Maybe her presence had been an extra pressure to add to the load and his family had worried about how he was reacting, she hadn't made things easy for him anyway… but she was his mate, she was nobody to them, Y/N didn't even know them. If she wasn't the only one who caused that trial, court or whatever happened, why would he hide it? Now that she thought about it, when she'd just arrived, Solo'd said something about her and how Ro'd ordered anyone to not talk about her to the elders.
Looking away from the street, she thrown down her drink, raising a hand to order another round without even thinking. She felt her muscles tense again and that feeling of tension that she thought had left her once and for all… she didn’t like it.
***
Her scent had guided him through the forest to the river dock, replacing the chaos of his day with the beating of her heart, her breathing slow, a little heavy. He would have preferred to find her at home, to know her safe in a place that was only theirs now, but he had to give her some freedom, he knew that and up to that moment she had never gone beyond the reserve without him. It wasn't a good time, things had suddenly added up that not even the Wiseman had taken into consideration, but Y/N loved to run and as long as the situation didn't get more complicated and she remained safe, it was a whim he could give her.
Roman found her sitting at one of the only two tables they had set up next to the river. There was a nice view from there, the river curved in a larger area between the slopes from which you could see part of its course, the water there always had the color from which it got its name. When his house was finished, years before, he had bought a small boat to move along that stretch of the river, he had arranged some tables, a housing for the bonfire, but no one had ever used any of it over the years, things had changed quickly. Now Roman had a big barbecue in the backyard that only his cousins had used, a yacht at the docks downtown that he'd only signed a few deals on. Perhaps, however, things would have changed again, as had happened in those months, perhaps Y/N would have liked it.
He sat next to her on her bench, immediately wrapping his arms around her hips and burying his face in her neck, to inhale her scent.
- We haven't been separated for days, you know? – Y/N sighed in resignation, feeling him leave a streak of kisses up to her temple.
- It was enough.
It had been. Having that meeting without any warning, having to deal with certain issues again, like it was not clear enough out there who was in control, staying away from her. He had gotten used to having her close all the time, in that month they had hardly ever moved away from each other and even half a day at that point seemed too much to Roman. She calmed him down. More or less.
-You're so dramatic... how it went? – he heard her ask, as his hands worked their way under her top, touching as much of her as they could, pulling her closer and closer until she was wedged between his legs.
- They'll sign - he stammered, his face still buried in her neck, heat building.
Her presence, touching her, managed to close every external door in his head, as if his wolf ceased to sense anything other than her. Nothing mattered beyond the curve of her back, her fingers lazily scratching his thights or the back of his neck, that scent he couldn't living without anymore.
- What were the agreements for? – he heard her ask softly, his kisses becoming more needy.
- Let's not talk about it... it doesn't matter now...
Those stuff had value outside, not when she was with him, when no one could disturb them and he was able to give a boundary to the rest. In those moments all he cared about was having her as close as possible, his breathing slowly replicating hers, her pulse rumbling in his ears, his bones turning liquid as the blood boiled. It was something he would never tire of having and seeking, like an addiction he fought to get worse.
He growled against her skin, biting lightly into her shoulder, feeling Y/N gasp as he licked at the spot she still refused to give him and he fought hard to avoid. He released one hand from her top, moving up along her throat, placing the other on her soft hip to keep her pressed against him, his boner starting to wake up on his pants.
- I don't want to mind your business - Y/N said, her head bending - I was thinking, however, that I'll have to do something now that I'm here, so maybe I could help in some way... - hands that kept stroking him slowly, too slowly - I've never done this before, but there will be something I can do. If Paul can do it, I’ll be great, right? – and Roman froze, what was that story?
She was always attentive when he showed her something and she had been even in the weeks when things still didn't work out between them, but she had never seemed interested to the point of wanting to help. And besides, she didn't even have to do it, he was the one to provide for everyone, especially her.
- You don't have to do anything, there's no need. You have everything and if something isn't enough, say it, I'll take care of it – he assured, stroking her chin and watching her shrug.
If she needed anything, whatever, she just needed to tell him. He wouldn't deny her anything and there was nothing he couldn't give her.
- I want to help you. Do my part, so maybe we don't get another trial popping up for me that I don't know anything about - she said as if they were talking about the weather, and Roman stopped the instant the word left her mouth.
Speechless, he watched her impassively return his gaze, her hands still in their place, her body that showed no sign of moving and that he was only now aware, hadn't moved to reciprocate his attentions.
Where did that trial story come from? She shouldn't have known anything about it, he hadn't told her, he had kept her away from that story, how was it possible that she knew anything about it? She spoke little or nothing to Paul, they weren't compatible and Solo… Solo hardly ever opened his mouth with anyone, was impossible. She couldn't have found out by walking around town for half a day, people were talking about her family's business, but that was a confidential matter that very few knew about.
That last thought hit him full force and without even controlling himself, he pursed his lips angrily, brow furrowing, nervousness mounting. Very few knew about that story and the only person she had spent the day with as far as he knew, the only one he had sensed a trace of on her was his cousin's wife and that was definitely none of her business.
- Naomi said that to you? Now she talks about me when ain’t around? That story ain’t even her husband business, she has no right- he growled, going from nothing to exploding in less than a second and Y/N turned to face him just as quickly.
- It's about me though – she noted seriously and Roman wrinkled his nose, moving his gaze elsewhere in an attempt to uselessly control his anger.
They shouldn't have had that conversation, should never have had it. He still did everything after a month to avoid it and half a day away from him was enough to get there. He was furious, so angry that he felt his wolf growl in his ears to get out. Because yes, it was about her and he didn't want her to worry, he didn't want wrong thoughts in her mind.
That's not good for our mate. Stop it.
- She wasn't talking about it, it's not her or Jimmy's fault, she just mentioned it… she assumed that I knew and wanted to give me her support, but I had no idea what the hell this trial was about, because you didn't tell me anything - she said slow and Roman looked back, breathing short, muscles tense.
- Because there was no need, I'm the one to provide for others, for you. Im the giver, I'll solve it, I-
- That's enough, hear me out now- the tone in which she shushed him wasn't the kind of tone an omega would use, not with an alpha, not with anyone else. No one shushed him.
But she was his omega, she was his mate and however badly he might have reacted, his wolf couldn't help but stop himself and certainly, feeling her hands caressing him helped. Overwhelmed, he looked down, following the movement of her fingers tracing the tattoo on his arm, her tatau, her thumb rubbing the back of his fist clenched around nothing. He heard her take a deep breath and lifted his brown eyes again, anger slipping away from him as she returned his gaze with a different expression.
- I like this thing between us - she confessed and Roman clearly perceived the weight of those words, like a boulder on his back - At first it didn't go like this, but now I realize that I needed it... I like it. I like that you want to take care of me, that you are always there trying to gimme everything and that everything around me is perfect, but if something is wrong… we should talk about it, you need to tell me what’s going on. You always say that I'm your mate, I shouldn't be your mate only on certain occasions.
Since the night after the trial, things had changed between them in many ways. In ways that even he hadn't planned on and that had spiraled out of his control. Y/N had become fundamental. The stories told so much about mates, but not even the most unrealistic of those stories could have prepared him for what she had become in his life. It wasn't about attraction, complicity or who knows what else, he needed her like the air he breathed and knowing that it was the same for her now, it went to his head. Because he wasn't going to lose everything, to see that doubt, that look on her face after what he'd worked hard to achieve. He made a promise to make her happy, he had given her everything, everything she had never had and he didn't tolerate that some stupid rumor, a useless doubt born of someone who knew nothing about it, undermined what he had built for them. Roman didn't allow it, he couldn't bear it, no.
- We shouldn't even have this talk, it's not like that, it's a stupid drama, it comes from outside, it's not between us. We're fine, there's not a single problem between us - he tried to reason with her, hand now rubbing his beard.
They were fine, they were finally fine. They woke up every morning together, they talked, they spent hours doing anything to spend time with each other, they started talking through bonding during runs, they fucked every freakin day without getting tired, she laughed even. She was happy, she had even admitted it and Roman had found what he had always lacked, they were fine! There was no need to talk about that story! They didn't have any problems to discuss or solve, they were perfect, dramas came from outside. It was others’s fault.
Its them again.
- Ro a month ago you weren't good at all, I was there, I saw you. And now I find out it was because of me? - his head moved quickly before she'd even finished speaking.
- Nah, nah. It wasn't you, it was a problem that came from outside, like this one and I solved it anyway. It's okay now, you're fine, we're fine. I take care of everything as I always have and as I will continue to do. You don't have to think about it – he reassured her, hands moving up to hers, stroking her cheek, holding her shoulders.
That trial had come upon him for no reason, because of those who still doubted despite all he had done in those years, guaranteeing everyone better lives that they had not managed to achieve on their own for decades. It had been a low blow, thrown at her because she was now his weak point, but he'd gotten out of it anyway. He had gone out with her. Because whatever obstacle life put in front of him, he found a way to overcome it, it was in his nature and it was also in his nature to go further. Just like he was doing with her. They had gotten off to a bad start, but now they had a bond that no one out there could replicate and so it should continue to be.
- I just want you to tell me if something is wrong, I want to do my part if it's important and not find myself in situations like this like some shit that ends up in someone's foot during a fight-
- If I’ll ever need you by my side, I'll tell you. But don't think about it now. It's stupid, I'll take care of it.
It was his job, it was his role, and he was in control. She just had to stop worrying. It wasn't what he had in mind for her, not what he had planned, it wasn't what he wanted for her.
- Care of what? – he heard her ask in exasperation and he tightened his grip on her shoulders, resting his forehead on hers, inhaling her scent.
- Nothing, cause whatever they said to you its not true. Everything is fine. We're fine.
- Ro…- Y/N called him, his eyes fixed on hers and Roman nodded, his hand caressing the back of her neck with love and devotion, sinking into her soft hair.
- You have my word – he promised seriously and for a long moment, Y/N didn't move looking at him and deciding what to do.
He saw in her eyes the same expression that had haunted him for weeks, that judgment that had kept him in the balance, that had driven his wolf to try anything to win her approval. As if she was looking inside him for an answer and Roman remained silent to return her gaze, his fingers unable to stop moving along her skin, caressing her as he had done every night for the past month to help her fall asleep more quickly and give up completely into his arms. Who knows how long seemed to pass, his mood began to mount again, his patience to run out, but just as she had begun that speech, Roman saw her leave it with a heavy breath and a nod of her head, quick not so sure, to hide herself anyway in his neck and allow him to squeeze her again.
- I'm a man of my word - he reminded her, kissing her hair and feeling her hands tightening on his white shirt, behind his back, as if she were clinging to him.
- I know

My experience with the worst most toxic parts of the IWTV fandom
Okay, there are going to be details here that are changed or admitted for obvious mostly safety reasons. And I personally don't care if you think I'm lying, but it was still a scary experience and I do think there are people in the fandom that need to be aware this crap goes on all over fictional characters. So warning they're going to be mentions of threats a violence, doxing, harassment, the works, It was bad.
Okay a few months ago. I kicked the hornets nest when it comes to the worst part of the interview with the vampire fandom. I had engaged in some fan discourse. Made a couple of posts. A lot of it had to do with defending the added diversity with the casting of Assad and Jacob. Theorizing about possible characters in the future that can be race swapped how it could be a good thing and how it could be historically possible. You get the idea. I love what the show is done with all the race swapping it has added so much to the story.
And then all the sudden I woke up to my inbox being full of over 100 anonymous ask that ranged from the average calling me evil racist. I didn't know the books. How dare I it was ruining the story. I should kill myself. The usual online internet harassment. It was horrible. And they kept on coming and would not stop until I shut off anonymous ask. And they will remain off because of this but again I had well over 100 messages to go through. And it took me well over a week to go through them but when I got to like the last I think 10 one of them stuck out. Not because it was particularly bad because apparently I pissed off the Armand people who don't realize how creepy it is and kind of comes off as pro pedophilia when all of you insist that he has to be 17 much less the racist issues. There's a reason it took me over a week to go through all the messages they made my skin crawl. But this particular message scared the crap out of me it was a death threat with my home address. Someone cared so much about a fictional character. They tracked down my address and threaten to kill me. So guess who immediately started screenshotting the rest of the messages. And had to make a police report. Do you know what it's like having to explain to cops? Yes, I got a death threat with my address over a fictional gay vampire. No, getting death threats over Tumblr is not new to me unfortunately, but my address was new and that I want documented. So being harassed by a couple racist book purists turned into a police report and me buying security cameras. Thank you Tumblr. I nearly deleted the app.
I don't even know if I want to finish the Vampire Chronicles books now because of you idiots you took it way too far. And the worst part is I'm white. I can only imagine what you idiots are doing to the fans of color. Again someone tracked down my address to threaten to kill me. But again it's documented. I filed a police report and if any of you idiots try something I got cameras now.
And for all those who are going to be demanding proof well I thought about sharing a redacted screenshot or maybe a redacted version of the police report. But I decided I would ask the cops what they thought just to be safe. I'm glad I did because they advised me not to do that and they explained to me there is technology out there that if someone really wanted to they can remove that redacting. And I already have one crazy person that knows my address and is threatening to kill me so I don't want another one. So everyone is just going to have to take my word for it. However the cops were all for me sharing my story because of the rise of things like swatting. A in a nearby police department had to deal with a middle schooler (so a 11 to 13-year-old) who made a bomb threat at their school because they didn't want to take a test. So, they think this would be good for people to hear because what you do on the internet does have real life consequences.
So remember people the internet is real life. These things have real life consequences. And I'm pretty sure these people thought it was a joke. But now I have to worry about things like someone breaking into my house killing me or swatting. Which is something I didn't even think of until the cops brought it up. And it does affect my real life. I'm looking to move and hopefully we'll be out of my house soon. So, thank you, Internet stranger
So to sum it all up. The fandom needs to take a bunch of chill pills and calm down. Because we are literally harassing, bullying and threatening people out of the fandom. Again, I thought about leaving Tumblr due to this experience and now I'm having to move. Thank you. Interview with the vampire fandom please do better.

It's So Hard To Watch (Everything I Want) - reality tv star!Rafe Cameron x Reader
I Feel You Underneath My Tongue (Next To Every Word That I Should Have Said): Part 1, Part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: You and Rafe had a long history together. The love that you shared wasn’t something that you’d ever questioned–not even when you guys were on a break from your relationship. But, suddenly he’s ghosting you. And the next thing you know? You’re getting a call from an MTV producer saying your ex Rafe is a contestant on Are You The One? and they need to come in for the ex’s episode of the show. And well, you couldn’t say no, could you?
CW/TWs: angst, female reader implied, cursing, toxic relationships afoot, a brief description of physical violence, implied previous physical violence, verbal harassment/abuse, not the most edited/reviewed
Words: 8.4k+
Note: Yes I used pretty boy blonde-era Drew for my header what about it!! And also? I used Jeff Probst because I thought it would be funny OBVIOUSLY he’d never host a reality tv dating show goodbye. So I started writing this a long time ago, forgot about it, and just revisited it to finish ‘er up. Now that said, uhhhhh I think I mayyyyy do a part 2 where Rafe gets back home because this is uhhhhh depressing and I Need closure. But! We’ll see!
Tumblr media
Rafe Cameron had never been one you’d see going on a fucking reality TV show. No. Not at all, in fact. You had known him for the majority of his life. You’d dated the idiot for three years too. After the breakup, you went no contact for your own sake—he was impossible to be around and not fall back into his arms, no matter how much you hated it. Rafe hated it more, though. He tried desperately in the nearly year and a half since your break-up to get back together. You watched as he genuinely worked on changing himself and improving.
But then, suddenly, four months earlier he’d gone radio silent. You’d be the worst kind of liar if you said that it hadn’t hurt you. The abrupt cut-off had made you realize just how close you’d been to taking him back. Apparently, that wasn’t in the cards, though. Apparently, he was entirely over you. No matter how much you utterly fucking hated that. No matter how much it fucking destroyed you after those first two weeks of realizing that he wasn’t going to be coming back.
It got even weirder, though when a fucking MTV producer reached out to you. We’re with MTV’s Are You The One? they’d explained. You’re the ex of one of our contestants Rafe Cameron. Literally what? Would you be interested in getting a trip to Hawaii and being part of the experience? And again, unendingly now, what the actual fuck had Rafe gotten himself into? And why the fuck was he trying to have you be dragged into it?
All of the emotions that flooded you when that phone call started were…violent to say the least. And you were sad too. Part of you had hoped that Rafe would get the fuck over himself and call you again. Part of you hoped that you would’ve been able to give it another shot. But no. Apparently, he’d decided it’d be much more fun to just, you know, go on a stupid dating show with MTV and find his alleged perfect match. It made you sick to your stomach.
Are You the One was a show that felt like it was ripped from your worst nightmares. At least if Rafe was a contestant on it with someone else. The show had a dating algorithm that helps quantify compatibility for twenty-two people. It uses, according to the producer, in-depth interviews, some questionnaires, and then compatibility tests too. So, in the end, the contestants are set with their ideal match. With “their one” apparently. So, the unaware participants have to then get to know each other and undergo tests all while living with all of each other. And if, in the end, all eleven couples were able to figure out who they were after all eight weeks were up then they’d walk away with one million dollars and, potentially, the future love of their life.
The thought of Rafe meeting…
Naturally, you accepted the producer’s offer.
Topper, one of your best friends, even now–even after everything, told you how stupid of an idea it was to agree.
Even so, he booked his own tickets to come to Hawaii with you.
And that was how you found yourself at an insanely gorgeous resort in Oahu a month later with little to no information on what was actually going on or what would be expected of you. The only consolation was that you were far from the only ex here. It looked like every contestant had one person here for them. You were, however, one of the only… normal-seeming ones. Not for the first time since landing you cursed yourself for going along with this stupidity. Sure they wouldn’t really have another ex to call for Rafe that was actually an ex but that was their problem, not yours. Besides, if there’s one thing MTV can do it’s lie about their reality television shows. Even so, waiting in their stupid green room area altogether for whatever stupid instructions were to come next felt…well, stupid.
You heard your name called over your shoulder and you turned your head. “Hey, pretty girl. Now who is your ex again?” asked an extremely tall, well-built, and objectively gorgeous man next to you. He was grinning at you, the look in his eyes displaying an all-too-familiar attraction. But, if there was one thing you weren’t going to be doing? Fucking any of these weirdos. But, a little flirting couldn’t help. “Was it…was it Ryan?”
“So close. Rafe,” you corrected, giving him a half-smile. “It’s Alex, right? And your ex was Thalia?” He nodded. You hummed, shrugging. They’d shown you the audition videos they’d been given and Thalia seemed…interesting. “She looked super beautiful.”
“Yeah, beautiful and an absolute fucking nutcase,” he said seriously, even as he grinned. “She was always doing some dumb shit. Trying to accuse me of cheating on her when I was at work. Trying to fuck my brother when I told her that we were done.”
You let out a low whistle. “Damn, so you got a score to settle then,” you mused, leaning back in the chair to look at him. “I can respect that. I’m sure the producers love it.”
He nodded. “Oh they do,” he confirmed. He nudged your shoulder playfully and then winked. “Sorry, but I might be dragging your man down because of it. Word on the street is they’ve been paired up the past two weeks or something.” Your heart squeezed in a sad pain and you dutifully ignored it. “Don’t trip though, I’m gonna set him straight on what’s up with Thalia.”
“I don’t care,” you immediately replied, voice sharp and entirely unconvincing.
He barked out a laugh. “Yeah, sure,” he agreed, rolling his eyes. “You’ve been sitting here alone in your own little world instead of talking to all of us so I got a feeling you’re a little wrapped up in all this. And in him.” You shook your head in denial, rolling your eyes at the very true accusation. He chuckled again and this time you raised an eyebrow at him. “So what? Did y’all like break up a week before he came on or whatever?”
Clenching your jaw, you reminded yourself that this was just a stranger making conversation. There was no need to blow up on him. That was Rafe’s thing, not yours. “We broke up like a year and a half ago,” you said plainly.
“After how long?” he asked curiously.
“We’ve known each other since we were kids. We started on and off hooking up in…like high school—which our friends hated, of course. We went to separate colleges, but like…we just couldn’t stay away from each other. And by the time my senior year of college came? We were visiting each other practically every other weekend. Our friends had to inform us we’d been dating for like two years already at that point,” you said, shrugging. “But after he officially asked me and we made it exclusive…official…whatever? We were together for a little over three years.”
His nose wrinkled. “And y’all still run in the same circles and all that?” he asked, a sympathetic grimace on his face. You nodded. This time, he let out a low whistle. “Yeah, that’s fucked. Known each other your whole damn lives and he still couldn’t post up for you. That’s crazy. You’re way too beautiful to be treated like that.”
“I know,” you said dryly.
“Nah, sorry, sorry,” he said, winking. “I don’t mean it, like, to flirt with you. Promise.” You raised an eyebrow and he laughed. “Okay, only a little.” He sobered up, rubbing his hands together. “Still. Must be hard. Can’t even have that separation.”
You hummed. “No, we did. After the break up for like a month I didn’t talk to him. Avoided all our mutual friends, the whole bit. But then I remembered how much I fucking loved him regardless of our relationship. The…the issues that we had were…I didn’t leave him because I didn’t love him. I left him because I couldn’t keep enabling him. Remembered I didn’t want to lose that. So, like…I started to talk to him again. He was making genuine…good steps toward being a better man. One that he claimed would be worthy of me or whatever. But then five months ago or so he just…stopped talking altogether. Wouldn’t answer a phone call, text…nothing. So I just…took the hint. Next thing I knew I was getting a call from a fucking MTV producer. And now here I am. Talking to you.”
“You want him back?” the guy asked curiously. You glared half-heartedly at him. “No, no. I’m just asking because I fully plan to hook up with Thalia tonight, I ain’t gonna lie to you. So I’m just saying that door’s gonna be open.”
“All I want from him is to know why he went on a dating show and dragged me into it,” you corrected. He smirked at your side and you held up a hand in warning. “Don’t you say a damn word. What was I gonna do? Say no to a free Hawaiian vacation? Fuck that. I’m gonna stay here and enjoy myself.”
“Then go home to eat a metric ton of ice cream and cry, right?” he asked casually.
“Fucking Christ, dude we just met!” you said. “Why you dragging me like I’m the one dating your ex?”
He laughed. “Oh, no, baby girl, I’m gonna be dragging your ex. You? I’m just teasing,” he said.
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes. “I mean, hey, feel free,” you said, inclining your head.
That seemed to end the conversation between you both. Just in time, it seemed because a producer then came and started herding the group around like cattle. Each of the exes was briefly obsessed over by assistants who made sure our outfits—ones they chose, of course—hair and makeup were all perfect. Only when everyone was set were you approached by another production assistant.
“Alright listen up!” the stern-looking young woman called. “We’re going to be sending you out in pairs. So whoever your ex is matched with currently is who you’re going to be going out with. We’re sending you out and leaving a minute gap between to get the reactions of the contestants. The plan is to send you out in order from the newest matches to the longest matches.” She glanced down at the clipboard in her hands. “So first we have the newest match Amelia and Jacques, so…Jordan and…also Jordan line up.”
You watched as male Jordan and female Jordan stood next to each other. On and on it went. Ten couples called before you. You felt your hand trembling at your side with unexpressed emotion and you drummed at your thigh in an attempt to stop it. Ten couples called before you.
“I told you they were together, gorgeous, didn’t I?” Alex whispered in your ear as you stood side to side.
“Last couple, and the longest…Rafe and Thalia,” she said. The words stung and settled in your stomach like lead. Your feet moved you into the line at the end before she’d even finished saying yours and Alex’s name. Alex stood next to you, his hand brushing the small of your back, bringing you back down to the moment, snapping out of the distraction. “Alright. From the top. First two, my Jordans, you’re out in two minutes. I’ll be right back to get you.”
“How you feeling hearing that?” Alex whispered to you. “It’s been six weeks in that fucking house and they’ve been together like all of it. I’m fucking pissed.”
“I don’t know why I came here,” you admitted after a moment.
He barked out a laugh. “Well, too late to back out now,” he said dryly.
“Yeah,” you whispered. You folded your arms across your chest watching as the first group was taken out then the next then the next then the next. Abruptly after the last before you were taken out, you looked to Alex. “Do I look okay?
“What?” he asked, surprised.
“Do I look okay? I can’t walk out there if I don’t look okay,” you replied anxiously, wringing your hands in front of you.
He looked you up and down grinning. “You look super fucking hot. Don’t worry about that,” he said easily, slinging his arm around your shoulder, jostling you gently as if you were lifelong friends and hadn’t met two hours earlier. “Now buck up, gorgeous. We gotta get our game faces on. We gotta go.”
As if summoned by his word, the production assistant came back for you two gesturing you two out into the fray. You kept your face carefully neutral, noting Alex doing the same at your side. You exited, eyes doing anything but looking in the direction of the contestants. You moved onto the pedestal where the other exes were, Alex’s hand touching your lower back as you both moved up. You gave him a half-smile, recognizing the reflexive protective gesture. You could feel burning stares on you and you hated it. Evidently, someone didn’t like that.
Eventually, having no other choice, you turned your eyes towards the contestants. The first place your eyes fell was on a taller woman, with perfectly tanned skin, gorgeous dark hair that practically hung to her ass, and—speaking of her ass, boy did she have a good one. Thalia. You could tell because your eyes drifting just to her side was your Rafe. No. Just Rafe. Her Rafe, actually. He looked relatively at ease by his posture. But, both of them were glaring at you and Alex.
“So,” came the voice of the host. “All of the exes are here.”
MTV had managed to bag Jeff Probst of all fucking people. Appropriate, you supposed considering that the show was modeled after Survivor in that there are competitions and voting involved. Much lower stakes all around, physically at least. Everyone nodded at Jeff’s words and you couldn’t help but try to pretend you were on the Survivor jury instead of standing here in this objectively awful situation. There was a low murmur from the contestants’ side. But, on the opposite platform, everyone was silent.
“Wow…pretty silent here,” Jeff commented. “Especially considering I know how loud all of you can be on days like this.” He looked pointedly over at the contestants. “So…how are we feeling? What’s it like seeing your exes standing here looking at you as you stand next to who you hope to be your perfect match?” He made a point of looking over at us and then back to the contestants. “Thalia, why don’t you tell us how you’re doing with all this.”
The girl next to Rafe took a dramatically deep, shaky breath. You watched as Rafe’s hand moved to her back, rubbing it soothingly. He looked down at her, a soft sort of look in his eyes and you felt nauseous in a way that you didn’t expect. You carefully steadied your breathing and focused your gaze just past them. She took a moment, turning towards Rafe and murmuring something that you were sure the mic packs on them could pick up even though you couldn’t hear it. You watched as Rafe replied quietly and then pressed a quick kiss to the side of her head.
It spiked your fucking blood pressure.
“Thalia,” Jeff prompted.
“Sorry, Jeff,” she said, a sugary sweet voice watery and wavering. “It’s just…it’s hard. To see him. And to see her too, honestly. I mean…I mean knowing what he did to me. Knowing what she did to Rafe. Hell, knowing what everyone else’s exes were like too…this just…it’s awful, honestly. We’re here to try and move forward and still somehow it feels like all we’re doing is sliding back.” She fanned at her eyes.
“You seem really upset,” Jeff said, nodding. “How does it…how is it that the mere presence of your exes could cause this much stress for you? Do you not have confidence in your relationships? Do you think this is going to cause problems…have the cracks started to show?”
“Fuck no!” Thalia snapped. “I just don’t want to even see this bitch. I don’t want to see her even fucking breathe in Rafe’s direction. I don’t want her ass to even speak on him. I know that the way she treated him and it doesn’t matter how fucking pretty she is on the outside I know what an ugly, horrible, frigid ass bitch she is on this inside! I don’t need that fucking energy around and Rafe sure as shit doesn’t! It’s not my fault she fumbled and lost him! He’s a fucking catch and I’m not gonna act like I’m not glad about it. He’s my man now and she’s just gonna have to deal with it. That’s it. The end. I don’t fucking care! I don’t want to see her stupid ass face.” She scoffed. “And you know me, Jeff. I’ll fucking beat someone’s ass if they fuck with the people I love.”
You didn’t particularly care about the girl’s words. You didn’t know her. She was an attention-starved brat…or rat if you were going to give in to the more malicious thoughts in your mind. She wanted to be famous…as famous as you could get from trashy reality TV, at least. Her words didn’t matter. Rafe’s reaction certainly did though. He just clenched his jaw and looked up towards the sky and then cast his eyes down. Still, his hand stayed on her back, rubbing it soothingly. That boiled your blood, admittedly. And, it seemed that the girl’s words actually pissed off Alex more.
“Watch your fucking mouth, Thalia. God, you don’t even know her,” he said snappily.
“Oh, and you do? You don’t fucking know her or the shit she’s done. Don’t even talk to me,” she snapped back in reply.
“Just like how these people don’t know all the shit that you’ve done!” he replied. He turned his eyes to Rafe. “And you? This girl? Who you claimed to love for years and years and years and have known like your whole life, what? You’re cool with some girl you met a month ago talking like that? The fuck is wrong with you, bro?”
“Don’t fucking call me bro,” Rafe said, a lazy, hard-edged smirk on his mouth and a glint in his eyes that displayed the carefully concealed rage just beneath the surface. “And you need to watch your fucking mouth coming in here talking like that to anybody.”
“Yeah, okay,” Alex scoffed, rolling his eyes.
Jeff cleared his throat. “Emotions are already running high,” he noted. He said your name, turning all eyes towards you. “You haven’t even said a word and yet you’ve been the center of attention since you came out here. So, what’s all this like for you?”
You hated the feeling of the lights and the eyes all on you. It made you want to twitch. Instead, you kept your face in a mask and shrugged. “Don’t particularly care,” you said blandly.
“Yeah because you’re an emotionless robotic bitch,” Thalia near-yelled.
“Thalia. Let’s let her talk,” Jeff said, his words a suggestion but tone a command. He turned back towards you, gesturing at you with his hand. “Please, go on. Tell us why you decided to come if you knew something like this might happen.”
You gave Jeff a saccharine smile. “Always wanted to visit Oahu,” you said, biting back the sarcasm that threatened to overcome you. The other exes laughed in amusement and agreement at the sentiment but sobered up when Jeff called us back to order.
“Nothing else? It didn’t have anything to do with a desire for closure? To feel like you had to warn someone else about Rafe? To see how you’d measure up to this potential new perfect match he has? These are just some of the reasons that exes on past seasons have given for their appearances,” Jeff pointed out.
“Nah, definitely not for closure…I don’t think this place is where you’d get something like that. You’d kind of be an idiot to try with some people, I’m sure,” you said. Then, you shrugged. “And I have no desire to warn other people about Rafe. Everyone’s got their own red flags and no one listens to advice anyways so there’s absolutely no point.” You hummed, lips twitching up for a moment then flattening out. “And yeah, I don’t care about whatever potential little…perfect match or whatever there is. I don’t compare myself to other people, even when they apparently desperately want me to. So…yeah, Jeff. It really just is the trip to Oahu. And hey? Who else were they gonna call for Rafe?”
Lies. Lies. Lies. Lies.
It was so much more than that.
You’d die before admitting it.
“Interesting,” he said. “And, not to make things uncomfortable. But let’s address the elephant in the room. You’ve looked at Rafe maybe twice since you came in here. What’s it like to be with him in a situation like this? What’s it like to have Alex next to you defend you from his own ex’s words all while Rafe doesn’t say anything?”
You let out a short laugh. “Yeah, I don’t usually stare at people, so I certainly don’t feel any sort of need to do so now. And I’m not particularly…surprised by him not defending me. It’s never been his style,” you said simply. You saw him tense slightly and roll his eyes but you ignored him wholly. You glanced over to Alex. “It was nice of Alex to defend me, I guess.” Thalia scoffed and you resisted the urge to launch yourself at her and punch her. You were better than that. You weren’t going to be the asshole here. It was going to be clear that it was her. You were determined. “But I’m a big girl. I can fight my own battles.”
Jeff nodded. “Well, you haven’t reacted to what most people here would consider a fight being brought directly in front of you. Thalia has made it extremely clear how she feels about you. She’s also made it extremely clear what the people in this house apparently think about your past relationship with Rafe. What do you say to all of that? Is that not worth fighting for?”
“That isn’t a fight,” you dismissed. “That’s people who don’t know me or the person that they’re getting…some form of information from. I don’t care how much trauma dumping you do in six weeks. You’re not gonna have a clue who you’re dealing with. I promise you that. So I don’t care what she’s saying at all—I’m never gonna have to see her again after this. I have people who care about me at home. I have people who know me. These people?” You look at all the participants and shrug. “No offense. I’m sure you’re all great in the real world. But you mean absolutely nothing to me. Your opinions mean less than nothing to me. Your opinions about me? Nothing. Your opinions about the relationship that I had with Rafe? Nothing.” You looked back to Jeff. “You want me to be honest, Jeff? I don’t think that the ‘fight’ being brought to me or whatever you wanna say is even worth this conversation.”
Jeff smiled and nodded at you. “One of the most mature responses that you could have in the face of someone being so openly hostile to you a minute after you even come out here,” he said. He looked over at Alex then. “And you, Alex? Do you feel the same?”
“Absolutely, Jeff,” he said, nodding. “I don’t know these people and I don’t care. They’re not why I’m here. But nah, unlike her I am gonna tell the facts of how Thalia is. Because I’m not cool with her walking around here acting like she’s a victim when she knows damn well she isn’t one.” He scoffed. “And knowing that she’s potentially a match with her ex or whatever? I’m sure she feels at least a little the same.”
“What do you mean by that?” Jeff coaxed.
Alex shook his head. “Just saying, Jeff,” he said vaguely. “I’m not gonna get into it yet. That’s for me and them to talk about later.” The nebulous reference clearly being either Rafe or Thalia…maybe even you. You truly didn’t care about that.
“Fair enough,” Jeff said. He clapped his hands together and turned his body towards the participants. “Now, Rafe…you’ve been very quiet so far today since you found out what was going on tonight. What’s going on in your mind?”
Rafe was silent for a moment. You watched as Thalia turned her body towards him placing her hand possessively on his stomach, stroking it as if trying to be soothing and missing the mark entirely. He didn’t spare her a glance. You could tell he was overwhelmed to some level and his brain was shutting down, only letting him focus on one thing at a time. You could see it in the slightly dazed expression and the pinched turn of his eyes.
“I don’t know Jeff. It’s always hard to see people who meant the world to you and then just…didn’t anymore,” Rafe said vaguely. You actively had to remind yourself to keep breathing evenly so your breath wouldn’t hitch in your throat at his words. “I mean, like, for all of us. These are people who were important in our lives somehow. They’re representations of problems we have in dating. All that. So yeah, it’s like seeing…I don’t know…your mistakes personified for a lot of us.”
You couldn’t help but recoil at that slightly, taking a half-step back like you took a physical blow. The words seemed to register with the rest of the crowd. Murmuring happened on both sides, some of disapproval of his words, some of approval of what he’d said. You took a deep breath, making your face neutral when you felt a girl next to you wrap her arm around your waist. You took the opportunity to use it to ground yourself, wrapping your hand around hers in turn. As much as you hated that you needed it, the support was appreciated.
“Wow,” Jeff said. He glanced at you, saying your name, and then back to Rafe. “Do you think she’s a mistake, Rafe?”
“She taught me a lot about myself,” Rafe said. “And I’ll always appreciate that. But not all relationships are supposed to last. Some of them are just to help us learn more about what we want in a relationship and nothing else.”
“You didn’t answer the question,” Jeff prodded. “Do you categorize your relationship with her as a mistake?”
Rafe looked at you and you met his eye head-on, refusing to be impacted.
You could tell what the answer was going to be before he even opened his mouth.
“Yes,” he said steadily. Immediately, he looked away.
You felt like someone had reached into your chest and tore your heart out. You were suddenly glad that your hand was wound around the girl so no one would see how you were shaking. Your face you could control. Even your tears. But your hands? No. All you wanted now was to go back to your room and call Topper and tell him that you were going to crash with him in Kona sooner than you planned. Crying to your best friend for comfort was the only thing that would even potentially work. But that would have to wait until the night was over. You would be strong until then. You had to.
The muttering amongst the groups on either side grew louder once again. You kept your brain fuzzy and uninvolved, not letting yourself sink into the sticky discomfort of your feelings that would swallow you and encase you in pain like a fly in fucking amber. You couldn’t do this. Not right now.
“And how does that feel?” Jeff said, the question directed at you. “Hearing Rafe call your relationship a mistake? What’s that like for you? Do you feel it’s a fair representation of the relationship you had with him?”
You paused for a moment, looking towards the ground and then back up, a fake smile turning your lips upward. “Well, I’ve known Rafe more or less my whole life. He had a real temper on him when we were younger. So, it’s nowhere near the worst thing that Rafe has called me,” you said. “And besides, he can call me whatever he wants. It’s his right—we live in a free country, right? Whatever. I’m sure that there are things that I’d call him too if I thought it’d make me feel better.”
“And what are those?” Jeff asked, eager to hear some rebuttal from you, clearly.
“Nah. I’m not doing that,” you dismissed. “I feel no need to say that shit. It’s useless.”
Drug addict. Cokehead. Alcoholic. Asshole. Entitled. Liar. Petty. Mean. Fucking mistake. Those were just a few of the descriptors that came to mind.
“Alright. Let’s move on then,” Jeff said, neatly moving the conversation away from you, looking at the girl who had pulled you to her side in a show of support and was still. “Valeria, I see you here with your arm wrapped around her. Supporting her when you met her less than a few hours ago, really. In a show of support that, sometimes, we don’t even see from our own contestants. You hear her ex-boyfriend say something you deem hurtful and you immediately step in to be kind to her. That’s something that I doubt just anyone would do. Clearly, you’re a person who cares deeply about others. What’s it like to see Patrick, a man you loved, in a situation like this where he’s putting love and attention into others?”
“Well, Jeff. I just think it’s a shitty thing to do. You don’t talk about people you loved like that. Not if you really loved them. Because if you and your new girl or whatever are gonna gang up on her that’s fucked. So I’m gonna step in. As for Pat? He’s always been a very…free-spirited person with his affections. That was never gonna change. So…I sincerely hope he can find some form of happiness,” the girl said easily, the words falling off her tongue while she continued rubbing your back.
The conversation portion with the whole cohort of participants felt fucking endless considering you knew it would take up less than ten minutes of an episode. But, eventually, it mercifully was coming to an end. You could tell Jeff was winding it down, wrapping it up, and ready to move on. But, then he hit you with a curve ball.
“Now, for the true purpose of today: communication. You’ve all matched up for this week. You and your potential match are going to sit and spend two hours with your exes. You’re all going to have a conversation getting to know each other,” Jeff said. “Spend some time actually getting to know each other. Talk about the problems that you had in your failed relationships. Talk about the things that worked. The things that you admired.” He gestured towards Rafe. “Or the things that you feel made the relationship a mistake. This is going to be a game changer in terms of figuring out if you’re a perfect match or not. We only have two couples that you haven’t locked in yet. Just two couples you assume are perfect matches, and even them we don’t know. So? Pay attention. This could be one of the last obstacles between you and one million dollars. After that? You’ll spend an hour talking to your ex. Alone. Try to have a meaningful conversation. Then? You’re going to spend the night, all of you, all of your exes, partying poolside. Take the time then to talk to other exes of people who might otherwise be your perfect match. Make it a good night.”
Your blood felt like it had turned to ice in your veins. You had to spend an hour talking to her and to him. Well, at least you’d have Alex with you, you supposed. But, it still was terrible. This felt, frankly, like a heinous punishment that you didn’t deserve. You forced yourself to appear unmoved.
“I know we’re all excited,” Jeff said. He clapped his hands. “So let’s do this. Let’s split you all up.”
The director called cut then, and the atmosphere changed. Only slightly. The participants all relaxed marginally, posture loosening. But, the exes all remained tense. Valeria rubbed your shoulders next to you. “You okay?” she asked. “That was shitty to say.”
“I’m good,” you said, nodding. You gave her a weak smile. “Thank you though. It was super nice of you. I appreciate it.”
She nodded. “I meant what I said. No one deserves that,” she said. “Good luck with your conversations. They both seem real fucking peachy keen to be around.”
You bit back a laugh but Alex, evidently listening, didn’t bother. He laughed openly. “Yeah. Definitely gonna be a fun few hours for us for sure,” he agreed. He winked at you then. “Promise I’ll try to not fight your boy, gorgeous. But if he runs his mouth like that, I’m gonna shut him up.” He playfully tapped your chin, tilting your head up for a second. “And do shut Thalia’s shit down. She has no right to be talking. And I know she’ll just be running her fucking mouth.” You nodded jerkily, not wanting to even comment on it.
Eventually, you were all ripped apart. You were given a brief rundown of the hour and how long you’d actually have cameras on you, where they’d be, hard conversational limits, and everything in between. They set it up so that you’d be in a room with only cameras set up, not operated by cameramen. It would just be you four. God fucking help you all.
“It’s gonna be fine,” Alex said, trying to offer some form of comfort, his hands folded across his chest as he sat back on one of the couches. Rafe and Thalia were about to be brought in and you both were stressed in different ways. And all you could think about was the cameras set up around the room, recording every last piece of this.
You simply nodded, unable to speak. You felt in your bones that this was going to be absolutely fucking awful. But you’d play nice. You’d pretend you didn’t want to scream. You were surprised, however, when Thalia and Rafe entered the room. Thalia walked in, with a smile on her face, and plopped down on the couch across from Alex and you, throwing her feet up with ease. Rafe followed behind, sitting next to her, letting her practically lay over him.
It was gonna be a long fucking two hours.
An even longer night after that.
Fuck, this was a mistake.
“What the fuck are you two doing here?” she demanded.
You didn’t even flinch at her harsh tone. You were working extraordinarily hard to not react with malice to her stupid words or her earlier actions. It was honestly hard. The silence on your part seemed to only serve to anger her more. You didn’t react to her anger and instead stared blankly at her. Alex, next to you, clenched and released his jaw, openly rolling his eyes at her.
“You really don’t get what’s going on here, do you?” she asked rudely. Still, you offered no response and she shook her head disdainfully at you and Alex. “I really don’t care what you and Rafe are or what you do today. You don’t mean shit to me. And at the end of the day? I know where his priorities are now. One day wouldn’t change that.” You tilted your head, still looking at her as if watching paint dry. “You’re not gonna fuck up a million dollars for the people in this house.”
Unable to help it, Alex barked out a laugh. “Fuck, they get Jeff in as a host and suddenly you think this shit actually is Survivor, huh? Fucking crazy,” he said, rolling his eyes. “None of the exes give a fuck about the people you’re with. Or your stupid ass game or any of you, actually.”
Thalia smirked at that. Your hands twitched with the urge to strike her, but you stifled it. “Oh, I definitely believe that,” she cooed, mocking.
“Thals,” Rafe said, sounding tired.
“Baby,” she said immediately, voice fake and innocent. You wanted to scream. Rafe said nothing further. Thalia set her eyes on you then. Her eyes were hard and calculating. “You especially. No one wants you here.”
You leaned back, folding your legs in front of yourself. You crossed your arms and drummed your fingers against your arm. “In what world do you think that I care what you want?” you asked dryly.
Thalia scoffed. “You’re such a cold, heartless, inconsiderate bitch,” she spat.
“Wow, those words mean so much from someone who doesn’t know me at all,” you said, rolling your eyes. “Aren’t you supposed to be filling some stupid little challenge now so you can try to get a million dollars for everyone in this house who probably doesn’t need it?”
“You’re just mad that you,” she tried.
“That’s where I’ll stop you,” you drawled, leaning sharply forward. “Shut the fuck up. You sure run your mouth a lot for someone who I am sure is just desperate to be painted as a victim when the editors go through and make their little arts and crafts project with their footage. And that’s all fine and well and good. Really, sweetie, oh I’ll be rooting for you. I will. But, here’s the thing. My emotions? My life? All that? Not for fucking you. And not for a fucking camera.” You gave her a cold smirk, leaning back again. “Far be it from me to make your boyfriend’s mistake worse, right? So you keep your fucking hands to yourself and you stop running your mouth like you’re hard and we won’t have a fucking problem tonight. Then? We never have to see each other again.”
“This is so fucked,” Alex said. He cleared his throat, eyes leveling on Rafe, interrupting the conversation between you and Thalia. “So, you a cheater too just like her, bro? Or are you just gonna be the next guy she tosses aside?”
Rafe’s jaw clenched. “Don’t fucking talk to me,” he warned.
Alex cut his eyes over to you. “See that’s why I said I’d drag your fucking ex, gorgeous. Because this guy? Something ‘bout his face just…pisses me the fuck off.”
“Don’t you fucking dare,” Thalia snapped.
“Thalia,” Rafe said, voice sharp. “Don’t make this harder.”
“Oh?” Thalia demanded, rounding on him. “Is this hard for you?” She was sneering at him now in a way that set your teeth on edge. Something about the way she spoke to him reminded you of Rafe’s dad. And suddenly this match made you feel physically ill in a completely different way than it had before. You looked away, hand clenching around your knees. “Well, I’m just so sorry about that, Rafe. How dare I have emotions! I really must be the issue, huh!”
You glanced over at Alex. “She talk to you like that a lot?” you asked him bluntly.
“She don’t know how to talk without being a bitch,” Alex said icily. “And evidently that hasn’t changed.” You bit your tongue to keep from saying well then neither has Rafe’s self-esteem or trauma responses. Alex snapped his head back over to the other pair. “Hey, good to know you haven’t learned how to talk to someone else if you’re so highly evolved Thalia.”
That, for whatever reason, seemed to set off the volatile girl more than she already had been. She looked about ready to launch herself at Alex. Seeming to recognize this, Rafe grabbed her arm gently as if to refocus her. It was something that he’d done to you a fair few times when you’d been together and someone had done something particularly aggravating and you needed to calm down. This proved to be a…bad move. Thalia did indeed refocus. All of her rage onto Rafe, that is. The second that you saw her slap him, though? It was your turn to see white.
You weren’t fully connected to your body as you moved, reacting to the sight. You were on your feet, physically dragging her by her stupidly long hair off of Rafe and throwing her away from him. She seemed stunned that you’d done that. She then seemed pissed you’d done that. So, naturally, her stupid self tried to rush you. Again, you pushed her back, getting closer and closer to being willing to actually hurt her.
“You wanna fucking run that again, princess?” you demanded icily. “Try to hit me, bitch. I’ll fucking hit back I promise you that.” You got closer, glowering at her, practically eye to eye. “You been fucking throwing hands at him? I know that wasn’t the first fucking time? You get off on this shit?” It had been easy to spot the punch she tried to throw. It was even easier still to deflect the punch shoving her far harder. “Try that again and I’m gonna fucking lay your ass out so help me fucking God.”
“Thalia.”
This time the word came from Alex. The word was flat and unimpressed. A quick glance over at him showed a largely disappointed look on his face. And somehow, seeing that seemed to be enough to force Thalia to get a fucking grip. She stopped, slumping back and sulked, walking over to sit down next to Alex. You watched, genuinely disgusted, as she laid her head against Alex’s shoulder and he let her. And when she burst into ugly, blubbering tears you weren’t surprised, but you were angry.
You clenched and unclenched your first three times trying to will yourself to relax some. But, nothing was working. You took a deep breath once…another…another…and another ten times still before you were able to look over at Rafe. He sat there, face pale and eyes cast down. You moved on auto-pilot, the kind of thing that used to be second nature and innate but now felt more…disjointed…forced. You laid your hand softly on his wrist so he’d notice it before moving your hand up to his shoulder. You squeezed it in a pattern of three and his head slowly moved up. He looked at you, dazed and you didn’t know if you were more angry or sad for him, really.
“Stand up,” you said quietly. He looked confused. You clarified. “You’re not staying in this room with that fucking lunatic. And Rafe…I swear to God don’t fucking argue with me on that. You’re lucky I didn’t break her fucking nose. Let’s go.”
Seemingly in a daze, he rose. You cast a look over towards Alex as Rafe followed like a shadow over to the door. You glared at the other man and he gave a half-hearted frown of apology as if he’d expected something like this to happen. That didn’t make anything better. So, you simply shook your head and turned again. You yanked the door open and let Rafe walk out first, face still drawn. You shut the door quietly behind yourself and laid your hand gently on his bicep before gesturing him down the hall. We found not a producer or even an assistant first but instead, Jeff fucking Probst who looked startled to see us.
“You’re supposed to be,” he began.
“I’m supposed to be beating a bitch’s ass for putting her fucking hands on him like some little—” you cut yourself off. You cleared your throat. “Sorry. Forgive me. Thalia fucking hit him. Doesn’t seem like it’s the first time. So if I were you? I’d go ahead and get her the fuck out of here before I call my dad who works in entertainment law and let him tear this piss-poor production apart. And feel free to tell production I said that.”
Jeff winced. “I understand,” he said. He looked at Rafe. “I’m…I’m terribly sorry that happened. That hasn’t happened before as far as I’ve been told. There are mental health staff in the bungalow attached to the house. Go there. I’ll explain everything. Some people will stop by to talk later though, I’m sure.”
“Good,” you replied sharply in place of Rafe who still wasn’t speaking.
Following Jeff’s advice, you shepherded Rafe towards that bungalow where a kind woman gestured you two in before leaving to go get some…paperwork? Who the fuck knew? Who the fuck cared? You looked over at Rafe who was still silent, face pinched. It wasn’t hard to see his leg slightly shaking and the jittering of his hands.
“I hate knowing that wasn’t the first time and that you’d deny it to protect her,” you said bitterly. “Rafe you don’t know her. And you deserve better than that. Just like you always have.”
“I don’t,” he said, his voice coming out short and quiet. “I don’t deserve anything good.”
You pursed your lips and shook your head. “Thought we’d moved past the self-deprecating bullshit,” you commented. “My mistake.” You sighed. “Rafe…your family and friends all love you still. Even now. So don’t waste…your heart on shit like this. Fuck this show. You can afford to break whatever contract you had. Hell, my dad could find a loophole and sue for you I guarantee it. But you…you can’t stay here. You…you deserve good things. And that? That…person...who they’re trying to call your perfect match?” He stayed silent. “You got matched with her because fundamentally you still find yourself in the same place that your dad wanted you to be. You think that you owe everything to everyone else and don’t want to take responsibility or…ownership over anything. For fuck’s sake, Rafe. Do you really want her to be your spokesperson? You want anyone like her to be your spokesperson?” You shook your head vehemently. “You are so much better than that. I don’t…I don’t know if you can see it. I don’t care if you can see it. But it’s true. You threw away a year of sobriety and years of building real self-confidence and not your fake bravado bullshit for this?”
“No you don’t understand,” Rafe said. “I am sober. And I didn’t want–”
The door to the bungalow opened and the woman bustled in, hands absolutely full of stuff. You rose to your feet before the woman even had to open her mouth to tell you to leave. “Cast only,” she said anyway, uselessly.
“Yeah, right,” you said dryly.
“Wait…where are you going?” Rafe asked, face breaking open into vulnerability for a moment.
“Home,” you said shortly. “Worst vacation…ever.” He looked hopelessly confused at that news. “You should call my dad, Rafe. Like now. You are not supposed to go through this shit alone. You know he’ll help you. You have his number.”
“I can’t…they…I don’t have my phone,” Rafe muttered, looking away from you.
Your eyes darkened. “Fuck’s sake these people,” you muttered. You took your phone from your pocket and called your dad before the woman across you could say a word. You gave your dad a curt explanation and he said he’d be in Hawaii in ten hours before briefly chewing you out for not saying where you were going beforehand.
“You can’t leave,” the woman said. “We need to—”
“Don’t care, didn’t ask, go through my fucking lawyer,” you said sharply, handing her your father’s business card. You glanced at Rafe. “He’ll be here in ten hours. Most likely super pissed. So…he’ll raise hell for you.”
“Are you…” Rafe trailed off. You raised an eyebrow. “Will you…stay?”
Your heart shattered and healed and shattered again in an ugly, impossible sort of way. “I…” you tried, trailing off immediately. “You…” Still no luck. Eventually, you were able to settle on, “I need to leave. I need to go home. I…I can’t fucking be here. I can’t see…this. I can’t hear…whatever you’re gonna tell my dad. I can’t see whatever footage he’s gonna have them dredge up. I need to go. Home.” You looked at him, letting out a shaky breath. “And you should consider doing the same thing. As soon as humanly possible.”
Your name spilled from his lips and it sounded so right and so wrong in that moment. “I…I’m…” he tried, voice breaking.
“No,” you denied, giving him a bitter smile. “Don’t. I don’t…I don’t want to hear it, Rafe. I really don’t. I wasn’t going to see someone hurt you. I never have. I never will. But facts are facts right?” His face fell, knowing what you meant. “And I’m a mistake. Let’s not drag it out any longer, right?” You shook your head. “Good luck, Rafe. I…wish nothing but the best for you.”
“I didn’t…” Rafe tried. “I can explain.”
“No,” you denied, holding a hand up. “I can’t do this. Not here. Not now. I’m…done with this. With all of this. Truly.” You let out a devastated-sounding, sad sort of sigh and offered an obviously fake tiny smile. “Just let me know when my dad gets here—you know he’ll forget to.” He went to speak and you held up a hand. “He’ll get your phone back if these psychos don’t give it to you by then.”
“I will,” he said immediately in reply, a sad, almost puppy-dog-like look in his eyes.
You sighed, biting back the urge to cry or scream…or anything else really. “You know what? Never mind. Call Topper. I…just…just let him know. He’ll tell me,” you said, voice going numb.
“Wait,” Rafe said, his voice shaky. “I…I want to tell you.”
“Rafe…please,” you said, giving him your best pleading look and more than willing to beg him if it meant he’d give you a break.
“I…okay. I…I’m sorry,” he said, frowning, looking genuinely remorseful.
As you started to leave, rage somehow carrying you as the influx of adrenaline faded, your name fell from Rafe’s mouth once more. You turned your head to look at him, silent and waiting. It took a few moments for him to crack. The time lingered, settling into crevices of yourself that long seemed gone—abandoned and disappeared with Rafe’s own missing presence. Yes, this was too hard already and the situation had just made it impossible.
“Get home safe,” he said, his voice breaking.
You let out a bitter laugh turning back around and heading out, refusing to turn your head. You knew that if you were to look back you’d cave immediately. And you couldn’t do that.
“You too, Rafe,” you offered blandly.

LOOK IT"S THE GUY!!!
Tumblr media
still from summer breeze/solar system au btw...
some notes under cut about the au! not a summary, you can ask if you want one or look for the Basil one haha
Aubrey still got mad at Basil for the photo album. She still snatched it and ran away after calling him a creep. However!! She bumped into Kel, and due to them sticking with each other in this AU, she told him what happened in tears and showed him the blacked out photos. Kel managed to calm him down and they eventually go talk to Basil together. Aubrey (and Basil, even though Aubrey insists he shouldn't) apologises.
No, he did not tell them it wasn't him who blacked out the photos. He did, though, a little after they made up again after the revelation of the Truth.
They clean the photos together!!
All of them consistently knocked on Sunny's door often. However, it was either that his mom was trying another doctor for him, or he was asleep, or he didn't want to come out, or nobody answered, etc. etc.
Kel's a lot more well-adjusted in this au. Not (as much?) toxic positivity. Aubrey and Basil help him let out a lot of more difficult emotions.
Aubrey and Kel both struggle to verbalise feelings (what? i'm not projecting psh.) but Basil helps a lot. They're surprisingly good at decoding Feelings™
I HC canon Aubrey forgave Sunny and Basil a lot more easily/faster because of the similar incident with the lake and Basil, but hated how they kept it a secret. In this AU she definitely needed some more time to untangle everything that just resurfaced that came along with the truth.
Kel got angry (like I hc in canon lol). During the period of adjustment to the Truth he and Aubrey hung out/talk a lot. They Struggled™ because Basil wasn't there to comb through the knots of their complicated feelings for once.
i WILL think more about Hero i promise. i promise promise. i love hero.
After the bombshell (the Truth) got dropped there was this bit where they all deteriorated mentally again. It's like Mari died again.
And...well, Aubrey hated it (an understatement). He reached out to Basil, determined to not back out of the promise they all made together ("We're always gonna stick together").
Eventually they start hanging out again. It takes more than a couple months for things to somewhat get back to normal
It takes a couple months more for these idiots to realise their feelings for each other. I think Aubrey was the first one to realise. Too bad she's in denial. Kel takes wayy too long to realise. Basil is caught in the middle, too shy and apprehensive (despite them saying they forgive him, he was still worried and hated making the first move) to do anything.
Kel and Aubrey confessed at the same time because of course they did
Basil cried a lot
After they get themselves (relatively) sorted out they decide to tackle Sunny
They crash through the window to physically force him outside. Of course they do.
OH did I mention although nothing's official, Aubrey sleeps over at Basil's or Kel's nearly everyday. None of them mind and Kel's parents are just happy to see him hanging out with his friends + looking generally happier again

~~~~~
"This is highly inappropriate," you heard Dr. Kim arguing as you tried to wrap your head around what the concierge had just said. "What about the rooms for my colleague and their student?"
"Unfortunately the university already canceled their reservation," the receptionist replied apologetically after clicking through the computer. "It looks like when their rooms were canceled, they accidentally included a third. We can have a cot put into your room, but otherwise we are completely booked for the conference, along with most of the hotels in the area."
Sharing a room? With your beautiful professor? Who you had kissed and still couldn't stop thinking about despite all common sense telling you to stop? What even was your life right now?
Your chest twisted guiltily as you caught the frown on Dr. Kim's face, killing any of your budding excitement. How could you feel that way when you had already put him in an uncomfortable position? And it would probably look strange or suspect for him if word got out that he shared a room with a female student, no matter how necessary the circumstances.
"Professor," you began, feeling your face warm when he turned to look at you. "I'm fine with whatever you decide. If this is the only option then I promise I'll do my best not to bother you."
Dr. Kim stared at you with an indecipherable expression on his face, his normally friendly gaze so intense you began to twist at your shirt. Did he really despise the idea that much?
"Let me make a few calls first," he finally replied, pulling his phone out and walking a short way away, leaving you standing awkwardly with your carry-on. God, you had really fucked up when you had kissed him. Why did you have to be such an idiot? He obviously didn't believe you wouldn't do something, he was just too kind to tell you to your face.
Feeling morose, you moved out of the way so others could check in, and settled yourself on a couch in view of your professor.
"Can I take your bag, miss?"
You started when a bellboy appeared by your side, a smile on his face as he held his hand out questioningly.
"Oh – thank you, but not quite yet," you answered apologetically, smiling back at him. "We're trying to figure out a mix-up with reservations, we were supposed to have separate rooms."
You meant it as an explanation because you didn't want your professor to look like some opportunistic predator, but for some reason the bellboy's smile brightened.
"It happens sometimes," he agreed, giving you a commiserating look that made you feel a little better about the awkward situation. "Is this your first time in the area?"
"Yeah, me and my professor are here for the conference," you replied, relieved he didn't seem to think anything odd about the situation. He didn't look that much older than you, and you wished the other student was here so you would have had someone else your age to talk to. It really sucked that she had won and couldn't even make it. "There were supposed to be a couple others, but they got sick."
"Well, if you get tired of hanging out with a bunch of old brainiacs I wouldn't mind showing you around."
The offer took you by surprise, and you felt a moment of panic. Was he being friendly or was he hitting on you? Why were you even full of yourself enough to believe he was hitting on you?
"Um, that might be nice," you began cautiously, at a complete loss for what to say. He was kind of cute, and maybe it would be better to spend time away to lower the probability of making an idiot out of yourself again. But he was a total stranger whose name you didn't even know. And what would Dr. Kim think if you left the hotel just to hang out with some random guy after the whole Taehyung thing?
"I believe that couple needs help with their luggage."
You looked up to see that your professor had joined you, and was looking at the bellboy with narrowed eyes and something very near a glare.
"Of course, sir," the bellboy nodded politely before turning back to you. "I'll be working here til four if you end up having time."
With a grin that was now definitely flirtatious, he turned to go back to work, leaving you with your frowning professor. You felt yourself wilting at the disapproval emanating from his form, until he turned to you and his face softened.
"Is everything alright?"
What did that mean? The bellboy hadn't really been bothering you, necessarily. Or was he talking about the rooming situation? Was he concerned that you would neglect the conference to go gallivanting with some stranger? Perhaps he really did just think you were a flighty party girl.
No, he knew you took your work and responsibilities seriously. Hadn't he praised you enough, even offered for you to continue working with him despite all of your embarrassing missteps?
"Um, yes, why wouldn't it be?" you asked tentatively, peeking up to see that Dr. Kim's smile had tightened at your words. Was he annoyed that you might spend time with the nameless bellboy? Or were you just projecting something you wished was the case?
"The keynote speech starts early tomorrow, and the student talks are right after," he finally replied. "I wouldn't suggest staying up too late tonight."
So he did think you might go off with the bellboy. And he wasn't bothered by that, but because he thought it might affect your presentation. Great. Just great.
"Thanks, professor," you said with a sigh, hoping you could somehow change however he saw you to a responsible adult. "I didn't particularly want to spend time with a stranger but I didn't want to be rude."
"Always so considerate," he teased, his face relaxing. To your relief, he smiled at you and held out a hand to help you up. "You're allowed to be selfish too, you know."
You took it, despite not needing the aid. His skin was warm against yours, and he tugged a little harder than you expected, bringing you close. His dark eyes gazed down at you and you stared back, completely bewitched.
"Am I?" you asked a little breathlessly before you could stop yourself, drawn to him as if invisible tendrils were binding your heart onwards. His eyes widened in surprise, and you suddenly came to your senses, letting go and turning to adjust the zipper on your carry-on. "Er, so were you able to figure something out?"
You internally cringed at your obvious behavior and terrible subject change, too embarrassed to look back at Dr. Kim. Why did you keep doing this?
"Unfortunately there aren't any other options," was the unexpected reply. "I hate to ask this of you, but…"
He trailed off and you turned back to look at him in surprise. Dr. Kim was still open to the idea? Even after you had just – whatever you had just done? And he was acting as if it was an imposition on you, letting the two of you pretend you weren't constantly embarrassing yourself. He really was too good to you.
~~~~~
The hotel room was at least decently sized and would fit the promised cot easily, though Seokjin wasn't sure how he would be able to sleep knowing you were right there, so near and yet out of his reach. But the sight of the obnoxious bellboy making eyes at you had him hanging up the phone and striding towards you before anyone even picked up.
And despite your assurances to the contrary, over your shoulder he had seen the bellboy glance your way. He didn't trust the boy not to show up to your room unannounced if he managed to find some alternate accommodation, and well – if sharing meant he'd be able to keep a better eye on you then perhaps that was the best option anyway. Besides, it was already late enough that finding a new place would have taken too long for a decent night's rest.
It would be fine. He was an adult, not some hormonal college kid who couldn't keep it in his pants. He had enough self-control not to take advantage of a student. No matter how captivating you happened to be, or how much you consumed his thoughts.
"Professor, I'm done in the bathroom."
Your quiet voice broke through his inner musings and he looked up, only to wish he hadn't. You were wearing an oversized t-shirt that almost hung off your shoulder, revealing a tempting amount of collarbone. Your bare legs taunted him, and Seokjin wondered whether you were wearing shorts under your shirt.
You had also washed your face, looking so soft and sweet he felt his own ears heating up as he drank you in.
"Thanks, [y/n]. I might shower, so feel free to turn off the lights as long as you keep one of them on so I don't embarrass myself by running into anything."
Seokjin swallowed hard, unable to miss the way your eyes had widened when he said the word shower. Your gaze darted to the bathroom, then back to him with an expression that was slightly hazier than before.
He knew you were still attracted to him. It was obvious in the way your breath quickened when he gave into temptation and let himself touch you with seemingly innocuous gestures, in the way your eyes always sought him out first in a room.
He knew he was to blame. Jin was supposed to know better, to be better, but every time you smiled he found it difficult to care.
Now here the two of you were, alone in a hotel room, protected only by the fraying strands of his self control. He couldn't stop himself from wondering what thoughts were swirling behind those pretty eyes of yours. Were you picturing what it might be like for you to join him?
His pants tightened at the thought of you bare and wet with water rolling down your soft skin, and he suppressed a groan as he tore his eyes away from you and gathered his things. Well fuck, now he really needed a long shower.
Seokjin let himself stand under a blast of cool water, willing himself to calm down and stop thinking of you. Unfortunately his traitorous brain had other plans, tormenting him with the hint of collarbone you had shown, your pretty lips, and the way your eyes had darkened at the thought of him in the shower.
"Fuck," he groaned quietly, wrapping his hand around his hard length as he gave in. Had he locked the door? Did it even matter? What if you came in, clothes already off to slip into the shower with him?
You would probably look uncertain, embarrassed by your boldness, and he would kiss the hesitation off your face until you were soft and yielding in his embrace. You would let out that little sigh he couldn't erase from his mind and wrap your arms around his shoulders while the water ran over the two of you, washing away any evidence of his sins.
What other sounds could he coax out of you? Jin let out a little groan as he pumped harder, haunted by the enticing whimpers and moans he pictured leaving your lips while he explored everything your body had to offer.
And you were such a good girl. You might sink to your knees before him, looking up at him with wide eyes for permission before wrapping your pretty, perfect lips around his cock.
You would struggle with his size, eyes watering as you tried to take him deeper despite gagging on his length. But you would persevere, staring up with him with glassy, determined eyes as you swallowed around him.
"Fuck, fuck," he cursed softly through gritted teeth, feeling his balls begin to tighten. He sped up his pace, hips thrusting into his grip as images of you, perfect and pliant, flooded his mind. "Shit, [y/n]."
As soon as your name left his lips and he came hard, groaning as ropes of thick, white cum swirled down the drain. Along with his pride and dignity. He shuddered in pleasure, panting as he let go of his softening member, and closed his eyes as guilt began to set in.
In the clarity of his release, he let the cool water wash over his burning skin as he stood, dumbfounded and unsure of what to do next. How could he go out there and face you after this? Could he even look you in the eye, knowing that this had really been only the tip of the iceberg of the depraved things he wanted to do to you?
There was a knock on the door and he jumped, heart pounding. You wouldn't… would you? His cock gave a traitorous twitch.
"Professor," you called through the closed door. "I'm going to bed. I'll leave the reading light on for you."
"Okay, good night, [y/n]," he called back, surprised by the steadiness of his voice. At least he wouldn't have to face you until tomorrow morning.
When he finally left the bathroom, already wearing his pajamas, you were nestled under the covers of the cot and fast asleep. He gave a fond, exasperated sigh - the two of you had argued long and hard over who would get the bed, and he assumed he had won. He smiled at your sleeping face, your mouth a little open, almost forgetting his earlier shame in the surge of fondness that filled his chest.
"Sneaky," he murmured appreciatively before moving to the large queen-sized bed and pulling back the covers. He paused, then padded quietly back to your sleeping figure and pulled off your covers gently before his breath hitched. Your shirt had ridden up past your hips, exposing your bellybutton and a mouth-watering expanse of bare skin. You were in fact wearing shorts, not that it made much of a difference considering how tiny they were, and Jin swallowed hard as his eyes roved over your defenseless form. You were so beautiful it hurt, and before he could stop himself he was brushing a stray lock of hair out of your face.
A sleepy little grumble made him freeze, but when you made no other motion or noise he relaxed. As gently as he could, he slid his arms beneath you to pick you up, and you instinctively snuggled into his chest, making his heart jolt.
Your body nestled perfectly against his, and he couldn't resist brushing his nose against your hair to take in the scent of your shampoo. Then he forced himself to deposit you onto the queen bed, resisting the urge to crawl in next to you, and tucked the covers firmly around your sleeping figure.
When he finally burrowed into the sheets of the cramped cot, he stared up at the ceiling, mind racing. The pillow smelled like you, and he breathed in, feeling your scent wrap its sweet tendrils around his heart.
He was so fucked.
~~~~~
You awoke to the sound of two alarms ringing, feeling comfortable. Too comfortable.
Your suspicions were confirmed when you sat up and realized you were in the queen bed. Chagrin warred with embarrassment when you realized he must have carried you into bed, and you felt warmth flood your body at the thought of your professor's arms around you.
Part of you wailed that you had slept through it. Another part of you was relieved, because you weren't sure if your heart could have taken it if you were awake.
You looked over to the cot to see Dr. Kim sprawled out on it, mouth hanging open as his feet almost dangled off the edge, and had to suppress a giggle. He looked almost comical in the cramped space, and he seemed to be wearing a matching pajama set with cute llamas dotting the fabric.
It was disarming to see him looking so silly and casual, a far cry from the polished professor you were used to. You had always seen him as perfect and put together, far out of your league and impossible to reach. But like this he looked so young, and for a moment you let yourself dream.
Still, you weren't going to let him get away with it no matter how cute he looked.
Nodding to yourself, you pushed out of bed and marched over to your professor, reaching forward to gently shake his broad shoulder. He grumbled cutely, a furrow appearing in his brow as he tried to turn away from you.
"Professor," you whisper-shouted, shaking him more insistently as you tried not to laugh. To your surprise, his hand snaked to grab your wrist; he pulled, and you toppled on top of him with a surprised squeak. Strong arms wrapped around you and you instinctively melted into his chest, letting his warmth fill your senses.
Then you realized what you were doing, taking advantage of your professor's sleepy state to get what you wanted, and shame flooded you. You pushed against his chest to get up, but his hold only tightened.
"Professor!" you said more loudly, wondering how the hell you were going to explain this. His eyes began to drift open, and when they met yours his lips curved into a drowsy smile. Your heart hammered in your chest at the thought that he was happy to wake up to you.
But then lucidity crept into his gaze, his eyes widened and his arms loosened. Feeling your stomach sink, you scrambled off of him and took several steps backwards, as if that could somehow erase his memory.
"[Y/n]?" he asked, looking confused and still a little sleepy. Your heart plummeted as you wondered if Dr. Kim had thought you were someone else – someone he wanted to wake up to. Of course he probably had someone.
"I'm so sorry!" you stammered, looking at your feet as shame warred with disappointment. "I was trying to wake you up, and you pulled me in your sleep, and I lost my balance, and…"
You realized you were babbling, and shut up as Dr. Kim stared at you with an unreadable expression. Did he believe you? God, he probably thought you were a perv who couldn't keep from throwing herself at him. And after you had promised him not to do anything, too.
"I've been told I get clingy when I sleep," he finally responded with a chuckle, relaxing. Your relief was marred by the bitter taste of jealousy. You envied the lucky person who had that firsthand experience. Then you forced the thought out of your head, knowing it was none of your business, and remembered what you had meant to do in the first place.
"I can't believe you switched us," you complained, crossing your arms and glaring at him as menacingly as you could. His full lips began to twitch into a smirk that made you forget your annoyance, and possibly your name.
"And I can't believe you disobeyed your professor like that," he teased, eyes twinkling as he pushed back his covers and got up. It was a matching set, and it was unbearably cute that your older, beautiful professor was wearing it. The top couple buttons were undone, and you cast about in your head for any reply while you tried not to ogle the toned chest peeking out at you.
"Well at your age you should think more about your back," you shot back before you could stop yourself. His eyebrows shot up at your snark, and he stepped a little closer to you.
"Calling me an old man?" he asked, tone still amused, though something else you couldn't identify gleamed in his eyes. You wanted to step backwards, but something kept you rooted to the spot, as if vines had sprouted up from the ground and locked you into place.
"U-um, I just meant older," you stuttered meekly, your brief flare of defiance fading with each step he took towards you. You stared at your feet as he came closer, until fingers dipped below your chin to tilt your face up to meet his.
"Hmm, so that should mean I know better, shouldn't it?"
Dr. Kim's voice was still husky from sleep, and something in his eyes sent heat rushing through you as you stared at him like a deer in the headlights. The way he said it made you wonder if he was talking about something else, and you gave an involuntary shiver you hoped he didn't notice.
You licked suddenly dry lips as your pulse quickened, but before your mind could get too carried away, he stepped backwards and walked past you to the bathroom.
"I'm going to take a quick shower," he called over his shoulder. "But I shouldn't be long."
You blinked as the door closed behind him, taking the time to let your racing heart settle to a pace akin to normal. Hadn't he just showered last night? He really liked to be clean, apparently.
You tried not to dwell on the fact that he was naked just a few feet away from you, divided by only a wall and a door. It had been hard enough last night, and now you had that dark glint in his eye filling your head, the underlying croon in his voice, and the memory of his arms wrapped around your body.
A part of you knew that he was perhaps a bit touchier than a professor should be. But the idea that your handsome, brilliant, and kind professor paid you special attention made your chest feel warm. Perhaps nothing could ever happen, but you wished you could somehow bottle up the way he made you feel in moments like these. Maybe then you wouldn't so pathetically hope for more.
With a sigh, you went to the closet to pull out the clothes you hung there the night before. You had already decided on what to wear for the three days of the conference. The pathetic, hopeful part of your brain hoped the professional clothing would make you seem more like a woman to Dr. Kim, someone worthy of his attention. You had agonized over what to bring for an embarrassingly long period of time. It was foolish – selfish – of you to want more when that would be nothing but catastrophic for him, when he had already told you it was impossible, but your heart refused to heed your advice.
You doffed your pajamas and pulled on your well-fitting pants, admiring how perky it made your butt look in the mirror. Remembering your underthings were in your suitcase, you hurried over to grab a bra, sliding your arms through the straps and fiddling it as you walked back to the closet. Your fingers fumbled over the hooks as you struggled to clasp them, and then the bathroom door opened and you froze, staring at a wide eyed, shirtless Dr. Kim.
"I-I forgot to bring in my clothes," he stuttered, sounding like something was strangling him. You couldn't stop yourself from ogling at his gloriously toned chest and abs, or the way his towel was slung low around his hips, revealing hip bones that made your mouth water. Was it normal for academics to be so – so fit?
You were so distracted by his naked chest that you didn't notice the way he was similarly captivated. His own eyes roamed the bare skin of your shoulders, your stomach, and the way your bra was hanging teasingly off of your breasts.
Suddenly you came to your senses and whirled around at the same exact time he did.
"Tell me when I can turn around," you heard him say in that same choked tone, and you wondered if he could hear the way your heart was pounding from across the room. Your fingers didn't want to cooperate, but you were finally able to hook your bra and you almost flew into the blouse you had chosen to wear. Despite your clumsiness you were able to button it up relatively quickly, and finally you turned back around, pulse picking back up as you took a moment to appreciate the way Dr. Kim's broad shoulders tapered into a slim waist. Of course his back was also perfect.
"You're good," you said softly, tearing your gaze away to fiddle with the bottom button of your shirt, too embarrassed to look your professor in the eye. You heard him take quick steps toward the closet where his own clothes were hung up and flushed, belatedly wondering if you should have moved out of the way. You shuffled to the side as you felt warmth and the smell of soap wash over you, and his arm brushed your shoulder as he reached to pluck his own clothes off the hanger.
"Sorry about that," he whispered into your ear, his breath hot against your skin. You let out a squeaky noise of response, eyes fixed on your feet as you tried to ignore how close he was standing. Then his body heat vanished and he retreated to the bathroom, door clicking firmly shut behind him.
Feeling lightheaded, you moved to fall face-first onto the bed with a muffled thump. You were not going to survive this conference.
~~~~~
Three days. Seokjin just needed to hold out for three days, and he could go back to sleeping alone without being blessed and cursed by your constant proximity. He took a deep breath before releasing it in a slow exhale as he did his tie in the bathroom mirror, wondering how exactly you would inadvertently tempt him next.
His morning jerk off session had been in vain, and all he could think of was your bare skin and the little noise you had made when he had leaned in close. You had no idea what you were doing to him, a pretty, innocent little lamb walking willingly into his clutches.
It made him want to protect you, cradle you in his arms against anything that might hurt you. It made him want to bend you over the bed and ruin you for anyone who wasn't him.
"I'm ready, Professor," you called as you stepped out of the bathroom, hair and make up done, blouse tucked into your slacks, wearing heels that drew his eyes to the curve of your backside. You still couldn't meet his eyes, which allowed him to drink you in without fear of being caught. Still, this wouldn't do. As endearing as it was, he didn't want you to be embarrassed forever, or for others at the conference to sense something might be amiss.
"[Y/n]."
At his tone, you forced yourself to look up, and he gave you a reassuring smile even as he admired the way your lipstick emphasized the pout of your lips. You looked so lovely, professional and subtly sexy with an outfit that emphasized your figure without announcing it. If it weren't for your doe-eyes and flushed cheeks, you could have passed as one of his colleagues, albeit with a younger face.
"Come here."
Jin sat on the queen sized bed and patted the spot beside him. You obeyed without hesitation despite your apprehension, and he smiled.
"I-I'm really sorry about earlier," you stammered, eyes fixed on your hands, which were in your lap. "I wasn't trying to - I thought you were going to take longer."
"I should have warned you, too," he replied, hesitating just slightly before he gave in and rested his hand on your shoulder. He knew he shouldn't keep doing this, keep entering your personal space or touching you, but he couldn't help himself. You were like a drug he couldn't get enough of. "Let's just pretend nothing happened, and be more careful in the future, okay?"
Your muscles relaxed at his words and you finally turned your head to peek up with him, a tentative smile touching your lips. "Okay," you agreed, looking so sweet he had to restrain himself from doing something that would make his earlier words useless.
"Good girl," he responded, and the way you shivered at his praise made him wonder just what else you liked to be called. He was playing a dangerous game, but you were impossible to resist. "Now let's get some breakfast. I'm starving."
~~~~~
"In short, phyto and zooplankton populations appear to be in a dangerously fast decline in the world's oceans," you explained, flicking your presentation to its final slide. You cast your gaze over the audience to lock eyes with Dr. Kim, who was grinning with undeniable pride on his face. Your chest fluttered, and you continued your presentation with renewed confidence.
"With their position as the basis of the food chain for marine life everywhere, it will likely lead to even more disastrous results than are already being witnessed. Fishing villages have been reporting worse catches year after year, and fishing trawlers are crossing over international lines to reach their quotas, which will have both economic and political ramifications."
Another handsome man was nodding along with your words, cheeks dimpling into an approving smile, and you felt another surge of delight that your work was being so well-received.
"Unless policies are put into place to protect these fragile ecosystems, these shortages will only grow worse. We need to urge stronger guidelines and restrictions on waste disposal and climate change, otherwise the damage we are causing to these ecosystems may be irrevocable."
You clicked your presentation shut, feeling your cheeks heat up at the applause as the lights in the room turned back on.
"Thank you for such an enlightening report," said the mediator, smiling at you and then looking out at the row of seats. "We will now commence the five-minute Q&A, does anyone have any questions?"
A few hands popped into the air, including that of the handsome, dimpled man. Your chest thumped as you nervously prayed that you would be able to answer everything adequately, and you met Dr. Kim's eyes again for reassurance. He made a goofy face as he gave you a thumbs up, and you felt your nerves settle. The mediator gestured towards Dr. Dimples, and he stood as someone passed him a microphone.
"That was a lovely presentation, Miss [L/n]," he began in a pleasant baritone, eyes crinkling into a warm smile. You felt your face flush despite yourself, and distractedly wondered if you had a thing for older men. "The ocean is vast, and often some findings can be exclusive to a specific area. How has this been accounted for in your research?"
"Great question," you began brightly, relaxing as you realized this was something you could answer quite easily. You smiled at the man as you continued. "You are correct, hard numbers did vary amongst different samples, but…"
You were able to answer every other inquiry just as easily, and you felt your confidence build with each response. What you didn't notice was the way Dr. Kim's smile had faded, and the way his jaw clenched every time you smiled at someone who wasn't him.
~~~~~
"Wonderful job, [y/n]," murmured Dr. Kim quietly when you took your seat next to him.
You felt your body heat up at his praise, and you couldn't help but beam at him. Your cheeks hurt from smiling so much, but you couldn't help it, high off adrenaline and triumph and your professor's approval. He gave a quiet chuckle at the way you were practically vibrating next to him, setting a warm hand on your knee to settle you down before the next presentation.
You tried not to read too much into it, especially since his touch vanished as quickly as it arrived, but it was impossible. Instead of paying attention, you spent the entirety of the next talk hyper-aware of his presence beside you, daydreaming about what it might have felt like if he had kept his hand there.
Would it have stayed innocently in place for the entire presentation? Maybe his fingers would have drawn absent-minded patterns against your stockinged skin as he listened to the lecturer, clueless to the effect he was having on you. Or perhaps he would have dragged those digits teasingly up your thigh, to rest just shy of where you wanted him most.
With a start, you realized the lights had flicked back on and everyone around you was applauding. Holy shit, had you just spent an entire twenty minute presentation daydreaming about your professor's hand not even actually touching you? You shifted in your seat uncomfortably to ease the ache between your legs, realizing your underwear had grown uncomfortably damp.
"Are you alright?"
Hearing Dr. Kim's husky voice, breath hot against your ear, was certainly not helping the state of your body. You squirmed again, too embarrassed to meet his eyes, and thus unable to see the way they flashed darker when he saw your thighs clench.
"J-just a little tired," you mumbled, looking anywhere but at your beautiful, concerned professor. You had literally just promised him earlier that you wouldn't be weird, and here you were fantasizing right next to him. You were the worst.
"It does get a little tiring to sit through talk after talk," he whispered conspiratorially, voice laced with humor. "Did you know that once I fell asleep and woke myself up by snoring during a lecture?"
You giggled in spite of yourself, picturing a cute Dr. Kim with his mouth open, a hint of drool at the corner of those plump lips.
"Are you sure you should be telling me that?" you asked with a grin, finally able to look straight at him and immediately regretting it when his smile pierced your heart. "You're a bad influence, professor."
Something in his eyes shifted at your words, and though his smile didn't change you suddenly felt exposed under his gaze as he responded.
"You have no idea."
~~~~~
Objectively, the conference was going incredibly well. You had absolutely killed your presentation, and Seokjin was currently watching from afar with a glass of wine as you mingled with the other conference-goers. While he had been with you initially, introducing you to a few colleagues here and there, he had backed off to let you handle things on your own. It was important for you to network, and having him hovering over you as if you couldn't speak for yourself would do you no favors.
Even if he absolutely hated it.
He took a long sip of the burgundy liquid, letting it slide down his throat as he watched Namjoon fucking Kim, marine biologist and wunderkind, introduce himself. Seokjin tried not to read into the excited way you answered whatever question he had posed, or the way you flushed when the man aimed his deadly dimples in your direction. He had no right to feel this way, no claim to your smiles or laughter or – why the fuck was he touching you?
"Dr. Kim!"
The surprised cry brought him back to reality, and he realized that his hand was wet with a mixture of wine and blood. There was glass stabbing into his palm and yet he could barely feel it over the rage eating at his chest.
"Oops," he said with a forced chuckle as one of the caterers rushed towards him with a cloth napkin. "I guess I don't know my own strength."
His colleague relaxed slightly at his nonchalance, giving an awkward snort as he took a sip of his own glass.
"I swear, you take absent-minded academic to a whole new level," he teased. Anything further was interrupted when you arrived, somehow beating the caterer.
"Professor!" you exclaimed, looking worried and frantic as you grabbed his hand, uncaring of the glass around your feet. Seokjin glanced at where you had come from, and saw Namjoon Kim staring after you looking more than a little disappointed. Another surge of irritation ran through him. Didn't he know you were way too young for him?
"Do you have a first-aid kit?" you asked the employee who had finally arrived, grabbing the napkin from him without asking and holding it gently beneath Jin's bleeding hand. The roaring in his chest faded to a muted buzz at the tender way you were touching him, careful not to dislodge any of the glass piercing his skin.
"Not here," squeaked the employee, staring wide-eyed at the red dripping to the floor and looking a little green around the edges. "Each room has one though."
"Let's go," you ordered, looking Seokjin straight into the eyes with an adorably determined expression. He couldn't help but humor you, and gave a nod to his colleague before letting you tow him out of the conference hall and into an elevator.
"What happened?" you asked softly, still holding his hand face-up, staring wide-eyed at the lacerations on his skin. What had happened? He had just been watching you, when that man had fucking set his hand on your lower back, and –
"Professor!"
He realized that his hand had tried to clench into a fist and he forced himself to relax.
"I'm not sure," he replied, saved from further questioning when the elevator dinged and the doors swished open.
"You should be more careful," you scolded cutely, pulling him down the hall and fumbling with the keycard for your - our, hissed Jin's brain - hotel room. You dragged him into the bathroom, seating him on the covered toilet as you opened drawers until you found what you were looking for. He watched in amused interest as you pulled a first-aid kit from under the sink, utterly endeared by how you were acting like you were in charge.
You frowned when you opened it, ordered him to stay put as you left the bathroom, then returned with some dainty tweezers.
"Are those for your eyebrows?" he asked in amusement, making you scowl at the clearly lacking first-aid kit.
"Yes," you responded primly before kneeling next to him and taking his bleeding hand in a tender grip that made his heart stutter. "Now be quiet and let me concentrate."
Why did you have to be so fucking cute when you tried to be bossy? You began plucking glass from his palm, attention completely absorbed by your task, and he took the opportunity to drink you in without interruption.
You really were too beautiful for your own good, Jin mused with a mixture of admiration and despair. His eyes trailed over the scrunch of your brow, the slopes of your cheeks, and your pursed lips in a soft caress his hands itched to make a reality. He was only torn away from his silent worship when you clucked your teeth and tugged him to the sink to rinse his hand.
"I think I got everything," you said in a fretful voice that made him want to kiss the worry off your face. "How does it feel?"
"Fine," Jin assured you. He felt better than fine, honestly. The pain in his hand was nothing compared to the euphoria of your skin on his own, or the way your attention was on him and him alone.
"Okay, good," you murmured with a smile, smearing his hand with something that made him hiss. Your expression dropped in an instant, though you wasted no time grabbing a roll of bandages. You wrapped the white cloth around his palm in gentle, almost reverent hands, and peeked up at his face when you were done.
"All set," you said quietly, looking at him tentatively, your hands still holding his in a soft, warm grip. Jin swallowed as he gazed back, completely captivated. You were perfect, a lovely blossom just waiting to be plucked by some uncaring hand. But he couldn't.
Shouldn't.
Then you smiled, and he decided that hell was worth it if it meant that look was reserved for him and him alone, if he could keep you from those who wouldn't treasure you the way you deserved. Especially undeserving predators like Namjoon Kim.
"Not quite," he heard himself say, almost as if he were underwater. You cocked your head at him, confused, and he grinned as the dark vines inside of him cut through the final strands of his self-control. "I hear kisses help speed up the healing process."
I’ve see your post about that deactivated blog and I think I get who you're referring to, because she was one of my favorite people here. Yesterday she wrote a funny post about Aziraphale being a damsel in distress and someone added to her post a take about Crowley being Aziraphale's devoted dog. She replied that she was very tired of things like that. Someone else accused her of treating Aziraphale like an idiotic teenager and told her there was no need for people like her here. Then she wrote that the last 15 minutes might not have any secret code and people started being mean to her for no reason. She asked them to stop. In her last post that I saw she said that wasn’t feeling well because of something she was told and now her blog is deactivated. I don't know if anything else happened. I hope she’s okay, because her last post was concerning. I've been following her since her first meta and she wrote some of my favorite aziracrow posts. When I asked her a question, she wrote a long answer and she was very kind. I have a multifandom blog and I will now stop posting about GO because the fandom has become toxic and it has made my love for the show fade.
Thank you for writing in!
Oh I am so done with the fucking idiots in this fandom. So done!
The past few months we’ve seen an influx of idiotic trolls who don’t know shit about the show and have problems they should take to a psychologist instead of bullying loving fans off the fandom. They really should find shows made for them instead of being toxic in a fandom that has nothing to do with what they’re insisting on.
Seriously? Someone asks to please not add such things to their posts because it clearly bothers them and they do that in spite? What’s wrong with you people.
I remember I made a funny post about my OC & Crowley/Aziraphale and someone added such extremely sexual content to it that I literally stared in disbelief and blocked them after a minute because I could not even find the words to respond to that.
It really stops you from posting more. I had so many theories and scenarios to post everyday and now I barely bother anymore.
It really has been nice here for a couple of months but now I barely scroll my dash because within a few gorgeous fan arts it’s just a shit take after shit take and that kind of insanity with how Crowley is treated. I’ve never seen a fandom so badly ignore what a show said about a character, or both actually, and then decided he needs the opposite that actually in canon would just kill him. Sickening. It makes me shudder how people think he needs to be put in a situation that would mentally ruin him and that kind of thing is everything he’s against and people dare to say he needs that. That it would be good for him that it’s affection. Fucking hell. No wonder so many people are starting to deactivate and say they’re moving on. At this point it’s to not lose their minds and to keep their mental health stable because some takes are horrifying at this point.
The amount of trolls jumping on people’s posts to ruin them only to upset them and stupid anons has increased too.
What a shame. Honestly what a shame. I can’t believe they did it to one of the best people here. I am so sad she’s gone but I understand - there is so much you can take before the show you love begins to only be associated with everything you dislike. There are some scenes I can’t even look at anymore because people fetishised everything to the extreme. And I know she was struggling with trying to keep on loving the show too.
Fuck, how fucking sad. I hope she’s doing okay 😞
watching mai hime as a young baby gay barely aware of anime was interesting (vague memories of it include-)
-> Yukino self aware tech savvy wallflower barely hiding she’s in love with her dumbass moron childhood bestie
-> Natsuki biker girl not being gay bc she’s focused on her mom’s death or whatever until she turns out to be Uber Mega Gay as in we can literally SEE IT MEASURED IN MECH SIZE
-> Nao the toxic gay who hunts dudes but loves her mom very much
-> Mikoto who decided her soulmate via food and picked an older girl thanks to ramen
-> Haruka miss homophobically gay and totally not obsessed with her female political rival while ignoring how in love her childhood bestie is with her
-> Shizuru so gay she goes evil as per usual but gets a happy ending anyway when she decides to redo high school to be with her idiot crush who didn’t pass
-> Mai assigned a boyfriend by script but her love for a girl is what saves everyone
-> Akira the singular embodiment of the twelfth night
-> Chie and Aoi, the only stability in this entire show, possibly just friends also possibly the only functional gay rep you’ll ever see in this series
-> that one teacher lady who insisted on being straight to save her work wife
-> Akane and the nun were here too I think
-> that one girl who was toxic straight so hard she sabotaged the main character's own straight romance by hinting maybe the mc didn't love her not-boyfriend so much after all, considering he died and the mc still kept her powers that are supposed to die with the people you love most (as proved with Every Other Couple)
-> I don’t remember what was going on with the pink grim reaper maid but I think it was probably gay too somehow
“Ugh, ahh, Mr. Smith”, moans, grunts, and mumbles are all that I can utter as the guvnor, Erwin Smith, pounded onto me. The speed of his thrusts and the depth of his cock had me seeing stars. “You can’t shy away from calling my name now, can you?” Mr. Smith asked. I was too lost in pleasure to even answer coherently, and Mr. Smith – No – Erwin was quick to bring me back down. He suddenly slowed his pace and once again spoke, “Do you not know how to answer when someone’s talking to you?” , “I-I’m sorry, mister- ah, Erwin”
I’m (Y/N) (L/N), I have been working for the Smith household for 5 years now. I’ve watched as my two employers, Mister and Missis Smith, fall deeply in love and fall out of it. Both became too busy with personal businesses, but still, it led the woman feeling neglected. I can’t really blame her though, hours of waiting for him at night just for him to not even remember that today is their wedding anniversary. She felt like she deserved better and so she looked for someone else. As bad as it is, its none other than her husband’s friend, Nile Dok. Erwin knew, he’s not an idiot. He knew the reason as to why his wife is out more than usual, why she goes home later than he does, and as to why she became colder to him yet more friendly with others. But Erwin can’t stop now, he’s worked hard for his company and he is not giving up now.
Yes, his wife probably needs him, but she now has someone else and she still comes back to him so its not that big of a deal. That’s before he knew who she was cheating on him with. They argued for almost an eternity that night, I could hear as vases were broken, as things were thrown, and cusses and names were exchanged. It became really toxic, but somehow, I don’t feel poisoned instead, I felt empowered.
After that night, the Smith residence has become deafeningly quiet. Some times the couple would meet at other parts of the house, they would either not acknowledge each other’s presence or argue a bit then have some wordless sex. I could sometimes hear Mr. Smith confront the missus and after that comes the sounds of moans.
The sounds were loud, loud enough for me to hear the degrading words that Mr. Smith throws at his wife. I wonder what that feels like, to be touched by him, to be held by him… The thoughts of Mr. Smith plagues me at night, I can’t help but creep my hands down and touch myself.
Today, Mr. Smith looks more stressed than usual. He hadn’t the time to even exit his home office to get something to eat. Being the responsible maid that I am, I took it upon myself to give him dinner. I knocked gently on his door and I felt excited as I heard his rumbling voice. I entered his room, it was dark, the only source of light was a little lamp placed on his desk. Mr. Smith looked tired, his eyes are heavy and a stubble was evident on his chin. He looks hot. I made my way to his desk and served him his dinner, our hands slightly touched, ah, his hands are a little rough. He thanked me and I’ve exited the room.
A little later, I was called to take his dishes. He was deep within the pile of his paperwork. “Have you enjoyed your dinner, sir?”. “I can’t say I didn’t, the steak was cooked exquisitely”, he replied with his deep voice, how attractive.
It was nearing midnight, 11:55pm to be exact. I was lying on my bed, sleep is yet to envelop me. I wonder if he's asleep. I didn’t heard the front door open earlier indicating that Mrs. Smith isn’t home yet. I decided to check on the guvnor, I exited my room and made my way to the master bedroom. I knocked on the door and received no answer. “Mr. Smith?” after a few minutes without his reply, I slowly opened the door. He’s not here.
Its not unusual for the guvnor to stay up late doing his papers, but its almost midnight. I reached his office and once again, I knocked. “Mr. Smith, are you there?” I gently spoke. There’s also no answer, it was getting suspicious and I was getting worried so I opened the door and looked around. There he is, sleeping on his desk, face down on a small pile of paper. He must’ve worked very hard to finish a lot. I walked up to him, I bent myself a little to get closer. I looked into his hair-covered eyes, his eyes are closed and his hair looks soft. He looks peaceful just like this, so alluring.
He shifted a little and finally opened his eyes. I moved backwards, alarmed. “I’m sorry mister Smith, did I wake you up?”, “No, its aright. What time is it?” he asked, his voice gruff. “It’s almost midnight sir, 11:57”.
He stood up and walked around the desk, near where I am standing. The sleepiness probably hasn’t left his system yet and he stumbled. I caught him right before he fell. Mr. Smith is a tall and muscular man, I should’ve known trying to catch him halfway through a fall would’ve brought both of us to the ground. Or did I just ignored that? We both fell, with him below me. I stared right into his eyes, they were wonderful. I could get lost in his eyes forever. I’ve never been this close to him, I’m slowly drowning in desire. I want you, Mister Smith…
I placed my face closer to his and-
“W-what are you doing, (Y/N)?” Erwin asked. “I… I want you mister Smith, please…” I pleaded with desperation. I’ve waited for this to happen for so long – way too long.
He didn’t replied, he just stared. The clock seemed to tick slowly as I waited for him to do something. If he won’t, then I will. Even if it takes force, even if it takes my life, I will.
Mr. Smith stayed still, he looks like he’s contemplating. I took the opportunity to lightly roam my fingers through his chest. He looked into my eyes whilst mine followed my finger. He let out a groan and I looked back at his face. Before I knew it, his lips are on mine. I kissed him back with vigor.
It didn’t take long for our kiss to become so heated, he asked for entrance and I gladly let him in. Our tongues danced together in a lovely tango. Erwin’s lips were so soft, it was so, so sweet. I was busy following his lead that I failed to notice his hands snaking around my waist. In a swift motion, I was beneath him.
Mr. Smith started trailing kisses down my neck. He started sucking near my clavicle which made me shiver. His lips suddenly stopped and mister Smith sat up, removing his dress shirt. I sat up right in front of him and traced my hands through his chiseled jaw. I once again kissed his lips whilst his hands found their way onto my dress’ strap. The soft, cotton fabric slid off of my body so smoothly, leaving me bare, wearing only the lacy pair of panties that I originally bought for this type of scenario.
I slowly made mister Smith lie down and then I straddled his stomach. It’s my turn to trail kisses all over his face, neck, and torso. Upon reaching his muscular but soft pectorals, I gave his right nipple a lick and placed the other one between my thumb and index finger. I took my time ravishing in the salty taste of his body before my kisses went lower. I looked him in the eye, asking for permission. He sat up and helped me remove his pants. I gulped when I saw his cock, he’s huge…
Pushing my intimidated thoughts away, I started giving his tip little licks and sucks. I tried putting the whole thing in but I can’t really help but gag. Mister Smith guided me in enveloping him, making my head bob up and down. Not soon after, he started thrusting into me. I can feel his cock deep in my throat and tears started falling from my eyes, not that I hate what he’s doing.
Not long after, he shot his load inside my mouth which I gladly swallowed, not missing a single drop. I was still catching my breath when Erwin carried me and made his way to his desk, he pushed everything to the side causing some of his papers and quills to fall onto the ground. He placed me on his desk and hurriedly removed my panties.
He rubbed my clit for a few seconds before lining himself in between my thighs. Erwin looked me in the eyes and rubbed himself near my entrance, making me whimper by the lack of a much anticipated friction.
“Mr. Smith, please,” I pleaded with glossy eyes.
“If you insist,”
With all the force he could gather, he slammed his cock into my cunt. The stretch hurt a little but it cannot be compared to the amount of pleasure that it brought. We both released a pleasured sound, a loud moan from me and a groan from him. It feels so good, to finally have this feeling of being full, the feeling of overflowing pleasure, the feeling of him inside me.
“Ugh, ahh, Mr. Smith”, moans, grunts, and mumbles are all that I can utter as the guvnor, Erwin Smith, pounded onto me. The speed of his thrusts and the depth of his cock had me seeing stars. “You can’t shy away from calling my name now, can you?” Mr. Smith asked. I was too lost in pleasure to even answer coherently, and Mr. Smith – No – Erwin was quick to bring me back down. He suddenly slowed his pace and once again spoke, “Do you not know how to answer when someone’s talking to you?” , “I-I’m sorry, mister- ah, Erwin”.
“Are you really?” Erwin asked, still thrusting in an agonizingly slow pace.
I nodded as a response.
“Use your words, slut”
“I am, I’m sorry, Erwin. Please,” I begged for him with teary eyes.
“If you asked so nicely, why wouldn’t I?” Erwin said before picking up a faster pace.
It felt so, so good. Erwin’s thick cock made me feel so full. I was nearing my orgasm when he, once again, stopped.
“Stand up”
I obliged and Erwin spun me around, making me bend over his desk. Fuck. He once again entered me and fucked me hard. I mean, HARD. It was fast, it was deep, it was mind-blowing. I can’t help but moan louder. I’m cumming…
“Erwin- Erwin- fuck I’m close,”
Erwin mumbled a string of curses before rubbing my clit vigorously which made me cum so hard my eyes rolled to the back of my head. Loud moans escaped my lips as Erwin continued to fuck me. Not long after, he came too, shooting hot loads of cum inside me.
I fell limp on his desk and so did he. But after some time, he walked towards his office bathroom to get a towel and clean us up. It was very warm. I was so light headed. After cleaning me for a bit, Erwin carried me to his office couch where we both fell asleep. This I know, would be the very start of many more nights to come…
