Wei Wuxian grabbed the nearest weapon from the wall as he shoved some shoes on quickly, not wanting whatever was tussling the chickens to get away with hurting them or even worse before he could get outside.

He hated having to get up in the middle of the night if an animal came and attacked the livestock, but Lan Wangji was doing it every time and he was still so sore after putting up a new rain water collection system, so he wanted to let the other rest more since he himself did much less.

He felt like he should probably take something a bit better, like a bow and arrow, but he was fairly confident in fending anything off as long as it wasn’t a typical wild dog, which he would definitely shout for Lan Wangji to come help him with, as brave as he wanted to be.

He greatly underestimated what was out there, however.

“Hey!” Wei Wuxian shouted aggressively as he ran out of the house, sickle in hand. He had to present himself as aggressive, otherwise it’d be hard to scare off whatever was in the-... the…

Wei Wuxian completely froze up, face pale and eyes wide on the dark, hunched over figure in the chicken coop. He could hear the sickening crunch of bones, the tearing and snap of flesh as those sharp teeth and claws broke through skin and feathers to feast.

The beast inhaled deeply as it lifted its head, red dribbling off its jaw in sickeningly slow, syrup-like drips…and turned its head directly to the frozen Wei Wuxian, who was so afraid he dropped his sickle with a quiet clang.

Lan Wangji was alert already because of the noise and Wei Wuxian’s shouting, but he sat upright immediately when everything went virtually quiet other than the subtle clucking of scared chickens. His heart dropped however when he heard his husband scream, and not just any scream, but one that he made when he was genuinely terrified. Usually, this just meant a dog or coyote, but something seemed much more urgent and terrified with the nature of it.

“Wei Ying?!” Lan Wangji jumped out of bed, rushing out without even grabbing his shoes.

Wei Wuxian was pinned to the ground by a massive black werewolf, and he had dropped his sickle many feet away.

Lan Wangji didn’t have time to think. He rushed forward, grabbing the sickle from the ground roughly and dashed towards his husband and the wolf. In seconds, in what felt like an eternity, Lan Wangji took such a tight hold of the fur of the werewolfs head and cut it’s head off in one urgent, messy motion.

Wangji threw the head away and wiped the blood off his face so he could see, and leaned down to check his husband over. “Wei Ying! Wei Ying, are you alright?” He took his trembling husband into his arms, dropped the sickle, and rushed inside.

Wei Wuxian was bitten. Lan Wangji cleaned the wound immediately, drained the bite area, and applied medicine, but…

“There’s…a chance we didn’t do enough.” Lan Wangji tightened the wrappings, brow furrowing. “I’m sorry…”

“L-lan Zhan…I…you did what you could. I’m…I’m glad it was me, not you.” Wei Wuxian leaned into his husband’s weight, feeling the other bring his head in to rest upon his shoulder.

“Wei Ying…” Lan Wangji didn’t agree, but what were they to do? They’d not seen one of the creatures before, and it was quite the shock for both, however…he couldn’t imagine how stressful it could become for Wei Wuxian.

Wei Wuxian shook his head and leaned it into the other’s, closing his eyes. “We’ll know if…If something happens by dawn, right? So…I just have to stay awake until dawn. We’ll know for sure.”

Lan Wangji pursed his lips and leaned against his husband’s hair, closing his eyes tight. “Mn…will be here for Wei Ying.”

Wei Wuxian actually made it through most of the night, so by the time early morning was set to arrive, he was feeling pretty hopeful.

“Lan Zhan, see? I’m strong. Everything will be completely fine.”

Lan Wangji gently pet the other’s hair back, eyes low in worry. “There is still time left. Don’t move too much.” The bite of a werewolf worked by poisoning through moonlight. If they moved too much now, there was a chance he wouldn’t make it through the morning without his body entirely changing.

“Of course, I won’t move…” Wei Wuxian frowned and scratched slightly at his arm, where the bite lay near. “I…It feels uncomfortable.”

Lan Wangji gently pulled the other’s hands away. “I’ll look. But stay still.”

He wished though that he hadn’t, when the bandages fell away.

Lan Wangji tensed, staring at the still bleeding wound with hiked shoulders. The skin around the area was colored somewhat with blackened lesions, and hair seemed to be sprouting from the area in small tufts. “W-Wei Ying…” He swallowed tightly, “It’s…” What they hoped wouldn’t happen.

Wei Wuxian was hardly listening, whimpering quietly as pain seemed to periodically ripple from the open lesion. “Lan Zhan…it’s…ngh!” He grits his teeth and curls up reflexively, trembling in his husbands arms. He fought the feeling, but how could you fight something that was already in your system? And he was losing the battle. He knew it, but he fought anyway.

Lan Wangji grimaced as he listened to his husband cry in pain, the snaps of his bone rearranging under his fingers and muscle spasms that followed. “I’m here. I’m here Wei Ying…”

His husband was no longer a small trembling body in his arms as time passed. He became full and soft, but with claws and teeth and hard angles.

His husband whimpered, and it wasn’t the sound of a human.

The sound made his husband bark and cry in fear, which only made him even more afraid. Lan Wangji covered his ears and buried his face in the fur atop his head, humming quietly to his husband in an effort to calm him.

His husband was no longer human. He didn’t get to him in time.

“It’ll be okay…” He tried to comfort him, but until Dawn broke and his husband’s skin was once more against him, he was terrified.

Wei Wuxian was so tired and weak as the sun filtered through the room, finally able to calm down now that the sound of his own voice wasn’t what he was most scared of.

“Everything will be okay.” Lan Wangji whispered into his hair, gently petting down his husband’s spine one stroke after another.

“Everything will be okay…”

They had been through so much together, and this would be…quite the challenge, especially for Wei Wuxian…but they had each other. He held the man tight, the tremble fading away into exhausted sleep.

They would always have each other.

They will figure out what to do.

“It will be okay.” He whispered, with a gentle kiss to his husband’s temple.

“It will be okay.”

This is something i'll casually update, i'm not sure how much i'm going to do of it but i of course got hooked on my joke idea of "wwx as a werewolf who is afraid of himself" and so, here's the origin of how he became one.

The setting is for now in ancient china but LWJ is a farmer (they still know how to fight tho, how much idk? cuz werewolves kinda throw a wrench in the mix of things. i need to design them before i feel like a decision is really made).

but anyway i'll post the other thing i prepared after i get some sleep i'm exhausted ; w ; i'm still recovering but i wanted to get this one up during the weekend at least as i said i would. remember, GOM isn't uploading this week; but i will be posting two things i already wrote to compensate for it. I have a Clash of Immortals bonus chapter (yes a whole chapter) set in the future where they're already established i'd like to finish the sketch for so i can post it next. i just gotta sleep though for a bit i'm so tired- the one that's coming is rated explicit i'd say so make sure you have mature posts set to "show/blur" and not "hide."

the sketch i did is more like a cover art and more metaphorical i believe than a literal scenario! i'm having trouble thinking but if you've read this far you know those things didn't happen here XD i wanted to sketch something with a lot of symbolism.

Hotel Heart by Laughsalot3412 (and its sequel Safe as Houses): not quite romance but not NOT romance ot3 leverage psychics au where eliot is a hitman who used to be under the control of a horrible empath who left him with major mental scars and huge trust issues. he reluctantly ends up protecting another empath (hardison) and thief (parker) and sloooowly starts to work through the aforementioned trauma while they take down the aforementioned evil empath together. excellent series with excellent pangy plot. also i knew nothing about leverage when i first read it and it’s what got me to watch the show.

Hold my Eyes to the Sky by myrmidryad: an enjoltaire/les mis longfic set in a 1970s(?) wizarding au in which grantaire is a very sad and lonely werewolf and the idealistic activist he’s hopelessly in love with just got himself turned as well, and grantaire has to help him navigate the changes while dealing with his own self-worth issues and tragic backstory. you want whump? look no further.

Occultation by Geese_in_flight & pineapplesquid: a novel-length au of the book Winter’s Orbit, in which the main difference is that kiem, not jainan, is the one dealing with a previous, horrible arranged marriage. somehow this simple switch brings so much fresh potential to the characters (i loved seeing how this played into kiem’s self-worth issues, and also loved this exploration of what jainan’s character would be like if he had been able to flourish the last few years), with a whole new set of pangs. i recommend both the book and the fic!

爱不释手; never let me go by yiqie: a post-cql wangxian getting together fic with the classic amounts of yiqie pain & pining & h/c & devastatingly beautiful writing about the devastatingly beautiful experience of being in love. also blood. honestly most fics by yiqie probably fulfill this request (are you into vashwood, perhaps?)

Morning, keep the streets empty for me by feyburner: a wangxian modern au oneshot with self-sacrificing wei ying getting into trouble and landing himself in the hospital while pining very very hard for his cultivation partner. i’m reccing this one out of all feyburner fics because it has the obvious physical hurt but fey is so good at weaving pangs into fic that tbh there’s emotional whump to be found in most of them. also, god-tier writing in general.

the kite string and the anchor rope by fleurdeliser: a wangxian canon-divergence au that falls into the sickfic whump subgenre. the pangs! wangxian’s love for each other and for a-yuan and the way wwx’s desperation and powerlessness in the face of a sick child (and his own illness) clash with how the world perceives him at the time is so 🤌🤌. this is saved in my h/c favs folder for a reason.

The Long Way Home by itsnatalie: extremely whumpy batfam tim & jason fic, which i’ve definitely rec’d here before but if i’m reccing whumpy longfics it HAS to be on the list. good god this fic is a masterpiece, both for the angst and for the absolute beautiful worldbuilding/navigation of its horror tropes.

and since you like bbts, i’ll also self-rec a few of my older fics! i think you’d probably enjoy this river runs to you, a wangxian/mdzs modern cultivation longfic feat. (sort of) identity shenanigans, angsty backstories, self-worth issues, and the main character getting all manner of hurt. also: you’re the trouble that i always find, a wenzhou/shl dreamsharing/amnesia/sort-of-timeloop fic in which the main character is supposed to dream about killing his love interest but said love interest keeps dreamcrashing to change the plot.

this reclist could’ve been dozens of fics long tbh. i live for The Pangs which usually go hand in hand with good whump, and seek those fics out whenever possible, so as always this is a super incomplete reclist! also i welcome any and all recs in return.

“oh, but trensu,” you say, “that can’t possibly work because WWX is deathly afraid of dogs!!”

WRONG, MY FRIEND. WWX being deathly afraid of dogs is exactly why it should happen!! Hear me out, hear me out!

The Lan clan is a werewolf pack. Yes, yes they are. That’s why they have all those rules, see? Self-regulation is key to their survival. It keeps them under the radar from people who hunt werewolves. Out-human the humans and no one will ever suspect you turn into a beast three nights out of the month. The thousands of rules are precisely why the Lan clan is such a long-lived and prosperous pack. (The Nie clan are also werewolves but they take the opposite approach and fully embrace the wolfiness).

Now, being fantastical creatures,the clans are pretty tied to their lands. But in this modern day and age, it’s important for them to learn how to blend in with the humans lest they be hunted to extinction. So the young’uns come down from the mountains and are sent to university to learn the ways of the humans.

University is where LWJ meets his soulmate, the love of his life, the moon in his sky. WWX is by far the most beautiful person he’s ever seen and he smells so good all the time, LWJ just wants to roll around in his scent (but that’s weird, right? humans don’t do that probably). It’s so distracting that LWJ is basically nonverbal around him.

It’s rare that a werewolf’s soulmate turns out to be human but it’s not unprecedented. So after meeting WWX (and seeing him smile, oh moon above, that smile with the cutest little beauty mark tucked just under his lower lip that LWJ wants to bite) LWJ immediately starts petitioning the pack leader to grant him permission to reveal the existence of werewolves to WWX so he can then ask WWX to be his life-mate and hopefully also get turned into a werewolf if WWX is willing.

It takes AGES because Lan Qiren is not an easy man to convince. But that’s okay because it gives LWJ time to get to know WWX. Not that LWJ does much, tbh. WWX is the one who decides he and LWJ need to be friends and latches on to him immediately. (They’re gonna be the best of friends, WWX can tell. LWJ is serious and quiet and so fun to tease!). They study together and go on walks together and go out to eat together. And every time they’re together, LWJ allows WWX easy physical affections because omg, it’s almost like WWX is scent-marking him and LWJ wants to be swimming in WWX’s scent. It also allows him to discreetly scent-mark WWX in return on the off chance that any other werewolf in the vicinity thinks to take an interest in him (he’s already side-eyed NHS who has since found a way to dodge WWX’s affectionate touches because he values his life).

Eventually LQR agrees to let LWJ tell WWX the family secret. LWJ is inwardly ecstatic. He’s all ready to tell WWX this important part of him. He’s planning to tell him during one of their walks in the park because WWX is always so carefree and happy when out in the sun and he loves the way the sun brings out the warm tones in WWX’s beautiful brown eyes (which he has to look up ever so slightly to meet bc WWX is enticingly taller than him by just a bit). They have a favorite spot in the park and LWJ has brought one of WWX’s favorite spicy snacks and a drink. It’s going to be perfect. WWX is so intelligent and creative and kind, LWJ is sure that even if for some horrible awful reason WWX does not return his affections, WWX would never hurt him or his family because of their wolf blood and he’s certain WWX would take their secret to the grave.

But just as they’re about to reach their favorite spot, WWX freezes at his side. LWJ can hear WWX’s heart stutter in his chest before it starts pounding at an alarmingly fast pace. WWX suddenly has an iron grip on him and he gasps.

“D-Dog. DOG! Lan Zhan, help me!!”

WWX ducks behind him, curls down so he’s fully hidden behind LWJ despite the height difference, and his gripping the back of LWJ’s shirt so tightly, LWJ is surprised it hasn’t torn the fabric. WWX is quaking, breaths coming in short gasps, and LWJ has never in his life seen anyone so afraid. His gaze lands on a friendly medium-sized dog prancing their way as it’s owner tries to grab it to put it back on its leash. With a sinking heart, he flashes his gold wolf eyes at the dog and mutters a solemn “shoo.” The dog whimpers and flees quickly.

“You’re safe, Wei Ying. The dog is gone.”

The grip on his shirt loosens and WWX’s arms wrap around him from behind as WWX looks over his shoulder.

“Lan Zhan, you’re my hero! Dogs are the worst. They’re so scary, with their sharp teeth and terrible barks!” WWX babbles in his ear, arms still clenched tight around him. Nervously, still coming down from the adrenaline rush, he adds. “Thanks for scaring it away. And not making fun of me. I know it’s silly but I can’t help it, sorry!! I’ve tried because Jiang Cheng loves dogs but I can’t seem to--”

“No need,” LWJ mumbles.

“What?”

“No need to apologize,” LWJ says more firmly, even as his heart slowly starts to frost over. “It is fine.”

WWX’s face is so close to his, chin tucked into his shoulder from behind the way it is, that LWJ can feel the beaming smile spread across his face as WWX finally relaxes against him.

“Thanks Lan Zhan, You’re the greatest!” he gives LWJ a little squeeze and LWJ tries to convince himself that that was why his breath catches in his chest and not because his heart is breaking. “Anyway, what was it you were saying before that hell-creature attacked us?”

LWJ gives a stiff shake of his head, and clenches his hands so he doesn’t pull WWX back as he finally disentangles himself from LWJ.

“Nothing. Nothing important.” LWJ says, voice rough from the sudden emotion lodged in his throat. Everything hurts. WWX gives him an odd look but doesn’t question him. Instead he starts happily rambling in the way that always does.

LWJ listens, greedily takes in the sound of his voice, the scent of his skin, from a distance. Because he can never get any closer. LWJ has given his heart away and he will never get it back because werewolves only give their heart away once.

Wei Ying, the love of his life, the moon in his sky, is deathly afraid of canines. He will never know LWJ and he will never love LWJ.

(Later that night, LXC will go into his bedroom to find a white wolf curled under his bed, whining and whimpering as if fatally wounded. “Oh, Wangji,” he will say with sorrow. The only other time his little brother wore his fur outside of the moon cycle was when their mother died. “Wangji, I am so sorry.” LXC puts on his fur, and gently nudges his snout against his brother’s and hurts with him, because his little brother had finally found his moon and his moon does not want him.)

I’m thinking about calling my Wangxian Werewolf AU Winding Moonrise because this is 100% going to be a long trip. Aye or nay? Heads up, I just write and post this. If there’s interest, I’ll do light proofreading pass for the previous ones and post them to my dreamwidth. Anyway here we go:

Wei Wuxian circles Lan Wangji’s room. It took him a hot minute to realize that was what it was. In his defense, the prim and proper Lan family would have guest rooms so pristine they look like high-class hotel rooms.

A bed takes up far side of the wall, sitting below a window. A few steps away is a low table. Along with the shelves that lean on two thirds of the walls with calligraphy hanging above them, the room looks exactly what you would expect from a man who looks like polished jade.

Wei Wuxian glances at the door. Tiptoeing, he opens a book, checking to see if the sleeves match the interiors. He skims long lines from books on proper instrument care, ancient poetry, or classics Wei Wuxian always fell asleep reading when his teachers assigned them.

Chuckling, he thinks, He’s still so stiff.

A tiny of fraction of him savors how nice that is. That Lan Wangji can always be trusted to always remain a gentleman in the trust sense of the world even if he’s so uptight his expression reminds Wei Wuxian of a stoic widow in mourning.

He flicks another page with a sigh. His finger traces along the page. The grainy texture of paper fades.

He freezes, smiling. He picks up a tidy candy wrapper folded into a turtle. How delightful and surprising. He never expects Lan Wangji to do something as scandalous as use a candy wrapper as a bookmark.

A shout knocks the calm out of him. He runs. His steps echo in the silence. Sliding down the polished floors, he skates to a stop.

He stops in front of a pile of teens, more like a heap of them. Each one pushes up against Lan Sizhui as if they need to touch him immediately. One of the six climbs Sizhui, forcing the mild-mannered seventeen year old to carry him.

Sizhui smiles, helplessly. He offers a helping hand. He opens his arm out for his other cousins. Whether or not he understands their need to scent him the attention is nice. All the concern they offer him when usually he’s the one coaxing them.

“No running,” a teen gasps, staring at Wei Wuxian wide-eyed.

The others take notice of Wei Wuxian. Their chatter dies. They freeze like a deer in headlights.

Only the one on Sizhui’s back remains boisterous, Jingyi rubs his cheek on his best friend. His nose twitches at how faintly Sizhui smells of pack, of home. He whines that he can never take his eye off Sizhui again.

The others separate, eying Wei Wuxian. One tugs Jingyi and mouths a warning.

Lan Sizhui blinks at parting wave. “Mister Wei. Sorry. We were noisy, weren’t we?”

“You call that noisy?” He laughs, thinking of all the times he’s screamed across the Jiang residence for Jiang Cheng.

“You saved Sizhui?” Jingyi asks, hanging like a monkey.

He nods.

“Cool. I’m Lan Jingyi, the one usually in charge of keeping Sizhui out of trouble,” he chatters a kilometer a second.

At that, Lan Liqin protests, “Zhui-ge always keeps you out of trouble.”

The others shake their heads in unison.

Ignoring it, Jingyi continues, “You’re a hunter right? Have you killed people before? Do all hunters smell like death? How did you beat the vampires? Did you ki—”

“Lan Jingyi,” Wangji warns. “30—”

“30 times all the rules?” he wails.

Shaking his head, he finishes, “300 lines.”

“Oh.” He releases Sizhui. Landing, he rubs his neck and bows to Lan Wangji with the rest of his cousins. He thanks the heavens it wasn’t Lan Qiren who caught him. Copying the four thousand principles that guide their pack once would be a kindness in his grand-uncle’s book.

But his mouth always gets the better of him. He adds, “It’s not an insult! You kind of smell like an altar.”

Lan Wangji inhales. Less of the utter relief of finding his moon alive in his veins, he notes the difference Jingyi mentions with concern. The hint of incense and burnt paper infuses Wei Wuxian’s naturally cool, salt water scent. What happened in the last thirteen years to stain him with ash?

Sizhui straightforwardly covers Jingyi’s face. He apologizes, nudging Jingyi behind him and away from Lan Wangji.

“Oh.” Wei Wuxian tilts his head, wondering what to do with that information. He’s never wondered how he smelled to supernats before. He asks, “Lan Zhan what do I smell like?”

It’s a passing curiosity. Why would Lan Wangji actually answer?

“Like.” He pauses. Words escape him. How can you capture the essence of an lake’s breeze warming your skin, a splash of water that revitalizes you, or a hint of something unexplainable that fills you with emotions you haven’t been able to name in the last decade and a half? Love barely begins to cover it. He settles, “Like Lotus Pier.”

“Oh.” He grins, inching closer. “Lan Zhan? Every time I invited you, who rejected me? So how do you know what Lotus Pier smells like?”

Pointing his finger, he says, “It’s as a nice I described it right?”

“Mnn.” He averts his gaze. There’s too much of his moon in front of him. He yearns to drink in the easy affection Wei Wuxian gives, but he can’t.

Not when he has no right to hold on to it. Not when all he wants to do is soak in the warmth of his moon`s light. Not when all he wants to do is see if he can taste the sea on Wei Wuxian’s skin.

He bites his cheek. “Dinner will be at five.”

Wei Wuxian tries, he does his best not to judge, but the Lan family meal leave his taste buds yearning for salt and spice and flavor. Most would call the spread of vegetarian dishes, lightly seasoned meat, and clear soup refreshing and light but for his tastes shaped by Yunmeng and Lotus Pier it is truly an ascetic meal. He wants pepper to numb his tongue. For a bite to delight him with lemon and salt and a dozen other flavors that mingle with the sweetness of fish.

He swallows a sigh. He can endure one night to bask in the glow of a family.

Lan Qiren ignores him, yes, but Xichen offers light, considerate smiles. They do not speak, but they show their familiarity in other ways. When Lan Qiren isn’t looking the children shuffle dishes. Jingyi hands his sprouts to Liqin who pushes over his coriander. Only Sizhui cleans his plate like the good and proper teen he is, taking on the bits and pieces of his cousins’ plates without complaint. The elders avert their gaze but laugh in their hearts at the shenanigans.

Peeking at Lan Wangji’s handsome profile, he thinks, Lan Zhan, you’re so good. Thank you.

This isn’t the Jiang residence, but Lan’s home has its pros. Now he knows that behind their clean, immortal like calm they are a fussy family like any other. The Lans have their own an uptight elder and mischievous children just in a different tone.

Thank you, he praises again, enjoying the aura of kinship.

This isn’t Lotus Pier, but he feels transported back over a decade. The feeling of comradery, of kinship, of care warms him to his bones. He didn’t know he needed this.

Wangxian: where Lan Wangji is a werewolf.

asdfghjkl BUT YES.

Lan Wangji was adorable in his wolf form and Wei Wuxian was fully convinced that he didn’t even know it. The moon was full and bright in the darkness of the sky and the hour was well past midnight. Both of them should have been in bed, beneath the warm sheets that protected them from the cold that winter brought with it.

But Lan Wangji was getting antsy and Wei Wuxian wasn’t going to sit back while his husband suffered because of two rules. Those rules being that everyone must be in bed by nine and leaving the Cloud Recesses was prohibited. There wasn’t enough space here for a full grown wolf to run around in so Wei Wuxian managed to coax Lan Wangji to follow him over the wall.

It had been surprisingly easy then again Wei Wuxian brought out the recklessness in Lan Wangji and the urge to transform must have hit Lan Wangji quite strongly. It didn’t take them long to arrive in the large clearing that they had grown fond of calling their own and Wei Wuxian watched with amazed eyes as Lan Wangji transformed before his very eyes.

He made a beautiful wolf with fur that shone in the moonlight, inky black and soft to the touch. Just like Lan Wangji’s hair was when Wei Wuxian ran his fingers through the long strands. His eyes remained golden and piercing while his form was huge as it dominated whatever space it was in. He was still stoic and still calculating but allowed himself the freedom of running around, sniffing at the trees and scenting the area so other animals knew that it was his.

Then those eyes fell onto Wei Wuxian who stared back at him in amusement. He didn’t anything and stifled a laugh as Lan Wangji’s tail began to wag at the sight of him. He didn’t move when his wolf of a husband approached him and went to his knees so Lan Wangji could nuzzle against him, going straight for his neck.

“Possessive even as your wolf, huh?” Wei Wuxian teased and yelped when Lan Wangji shamelessly licked a stripe up his neck. “Lan Zhan!” That earned him a pleased rumble before he was nuzzled once again and Wei Wuxian sighed.

“Such an animal.” He murmured though his words lacked insult and were warm instead to match the smile that curved his lips. He wrapped his arms around Lan Wangji and soon the two of them were curled up together, the heat radiating from Lan Wangji’s body protecting them from the cold.

It got later and later and Wei Wuxian’s eyes grew heavy, the stars blurring in his vision as sleep called to him. They’d get in trouble if they returned in the morning but that didn’t seem so bad as Wei Wuxian pushed himself deeper into Lan Wangji’s warmth.

And Lan Wangji didn’t seem to mind himself as his snout rested upon Wei Wuxian’s head, another pleased rumble echoing deep in his chest.

Two days later, Wei Wuxian arrives in Cloud Recesses.

10 + 1 Wangxian Recs - Theme Myhical Creatures/Shapeshifters

I am currently mostly in MDZS (Mo Dao Zu Shi/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation) fandom. And fully and wholeheartily shipping Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian. And since I have collected 2000+ Wangxian bookmarks on AO3 I thought it was high time to pick out some of my favourite fics to Recommend. But since it is hard to pic just a few I decided to separate them into themes.

This theme is fics where either/both of Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are some kind of animal or mythical creature shapeshifter/hybrid. Most common is Fox Wei Wuxian and Dragon Lan Wangji.
