These are manifest indicators of a human being with immense potential.
Read. Read as much as possible. Read the big stuff, the challenging stuff, the confronting stuff, and read the fun stuff too. Visit galleries and look at paintings, watch movies, listen to music, go to concerts — be a little vampire running around the place sucking up all the art and ideas you can. Fill yourself with the beautiful stuff of the world. Have fun. Get amazed. Get astonished. Get awed on a regular basis, so that getting awed is habitual and becomes a state of being. Fully understand your enormous value in the scheme of things because the planet needs people like you, smart young creatives full of awe, who can minister to the world with positive, mischievous energy, young people who seek spiritual enrichment and who see hatred and disconnection as the corrosive forces they are. These are manifest indicators of a human being with immense potential.

Outline I like (especially for shorter works)
Note: I learned this in film class (which is why it says "defines the movie" at the top, but I've also had success using it for non-film writing. It's basically a three-act structure, but I find for non-novels it's easier to work with than Save The Cat, for example.
Another note: Unraveling The Map is rarely a whole scene in and of itself in my personal experience - I usually use it to create an opening image that leads into the Launch Point, which I make the first scene
Unraveling The Map - Do you have an opening scene that defines the movie?
The Launch Point - Where are we, and who are we with?
The First Leg - What’s a normal day look like in this world?
Change Course - What sets our characters off on their journey from normalcy?
The Foot of the Mountain - Okay, we’re going on this journey together. (choosing the direction for solving the problem)
Climbing The Side - It starts hard, but you get used to the problems as you go.
Through The Cave - Do you have a B story? Set that story off on its own now too.
Reassess the Problem - You’re at the middle. Is there another way to get it done?
Try and Fail - Things begin to fall apart, can they handle it?
The Fall - The worst thing happens, something so bad you don’t think you can get up.
The Hidden Clue - What do your characters discover about themselves/the problem that they never saw before?
Race To the Finish - They’re up and running no matter what
The Treasure Chest - Did they get what they came for?
Where We Go From Here - Show us the world in a new light, hint what’s next.

I didn’t mean to imply that I was a capital “C” Conservative, it’s more that I have a conservative temperament. I would say that, as far as I can make out, a conservative temperament has something to do with a deep understanding of the inherent value of the world, and its vulnerable and precarious nature. It is suspicious of the impulse to tear things down, dismantle things, cancel things, burn things to the ground, rather it’s more naturally inclined toward cautious, incremental change, because we need to be careful with the world. The conservative understands about loss and about grief. I’m certainly open to new things, but with an appreciation of what has gone before and a melancholy understanding that it is a lot easier to tear things down than to build them back up.

monday tuesday snippet
thank u lia @themuseoftheviolets for the tag mwahhhhh
i just looked at my ao3 and i haven’t posted ?????? anything since OCTOBER ??? i barely write these days but i am (slowly) working on a maryjames canon compliant one-shot <3
Dear Mary,
Do you remember back at school when I would always give you piggyback rides between classes? Or, rather, you’d demand them. Either way, I think maybe it fucked up my back permanently. I feel it every time I pick Harry up, and Lily always makes fun of me for it. She says I’m too young for back problems. I feel a little guilty sometimes for how comforting I find the ache, though. It makes me think of you. It’s nice having some sort of evidence of you even when you’re not here. Sometimes, when I’m alone, I pick up heavy things around the house just to feel you with me.
I love my family, you know; and I love being married. I love being a dad and I’m good at it. Maybe I still would’ve been good at it if I hadn’t been in such a rush to get there.
I’m a good husband, Mary. I think I could’ve been a better one if I hadn’t been such a fool. Did you think I was a fool? Knowing you, I’m sure you did.
Love,
James

Farewell, My Friend💔😭
(PSA: Possible spoiler warnings for The Murder of Me by the Zielo Cave. Only a couple panels, but still...)
So, on Monday night, I was at work, and I checked my phone, mostly out of habit. (I don't recommend doing this, btw, it's a good way to get you written up or worse.) And I saw that I had a YouTube notification on my lock screen. So I open my phone and pull down my drop bar to have a look. And literally saw the absolute worst news.
TMOM is over from The Zielo Cave
Now for those of you that don't know: The Murder of Me, AKA TMOM, is a Sonic the Hedgehog fan comic that first debuted I think 15 or so years ago, give or take, and as much as I would love to claim that I've been a fan since the beginning, I only discovered TMOM about a year or so ago. (I have the worst luck when it comes to finding things; I'm always late to the party 🥺)
When I discovered TMOM I was in a terrible rut. I hadn't posted anything in YEARS, and the writing I had done I kept locked away in notebooks, never to see the light of day. I had no inspiration, no motivation to tell stories. It was a horrible place to be. (-10000/10 recommendation.) Then I was scrolling through Pinterest one day, and I saw a panel of this random comic.
Tumblr media
You could probably imagine my reaction. It's so random. Then more cropped up:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My thoughts went HAYWIRE. "Why is Sonic fighting his mother? Why's he dressed like that? WHY IS HE DROWNING?? WHY ARE KNUX AND TAILS LETTING HIM DROWN??? WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING???" So I went hunting, and came across The Murder of Me by Gigi-D on DeviantArt.
I was HOOKED. The plot was so well thought out, the characterization was incredibly done, and as you can see, the art itself was BEAUTIFUL. I couldn't get enough. I flat out ignored life and read through 14 issues in one sitting. It took me all day but it was so worth it. AND THEN: I discovered the dubs on YouTube, and found that Gigi-D had decided to put together a creative team to produce the issues of The Murder of Me as episodic dubs, and I fell head over heels. The cast and editing was absolutely phenomenal, and The Murder of Me had my heart, hook, line, and sinker. What was even better was that they turned Issue 15 into an animatic episode.
Episode 15 Part 1: Purpose released on October 30th, 2022, and since then I have been anxiously awaiting the next episode by rewatching the series and all the prequels and bonus episodes I could get my mouse on. I even forced my best friend one night to binge the entire series with me, and she's not nearly as much of a Sonic fan as I am!
TMOM was more than a great watch or story for me. It was inspiration. I had an itch in my fingers that grew from writing a TMOM fanfiction that would stay hidden away into it's own complex project who's rough draft is now in production. (And could very well be released this summer if all goes well.) It was life breathed into my creativity. It was hope. For the first time in a very long time, I wanted to write. To tell a story like Gigi-D and the Zielo Cave.
And then that notification came. It was like a punch in the stomach. I was terrified and without watching it, I reacted and sent it to my best friend, wailing that once again, a story that I loved was being abandoned. That the writers were giving up. I was indignant. Screw that, I was angry and hurt.
Then I watched the video. I listened to Gigi's story, and immediately felt shamed by my own reaction. The Zielo Cave had been saying that Part Two was taking a while because of personal situations, and when Gigi revealed what had happened, that her inspiration was gone and couldn't bring herself to even sketch these characters that she loved so dearly...my heart shattered for her. While I might not really know or understand the pain of her personal situation, I do know what it is to completely lose the passion for your story. For the characters you still love, but can't bring yourself to engage with.
And while my heart of hearts aches, I know Gigi is doing the right thing. No one wants a story that it's writer is dragging their heels to share, can't bring themselves to write. God knows I've tried that, and trust me, it only hurts everyone. The writer, the fans, and the story itself. By ending TMOM here, she's protecting TMOM and its fans, and even though my heart breaks for TMOM's fate and (mostly) for her, I couldn't be more proud of her. The courage and strength it takes to walk away from such a huge part of your life in search of something more, something better?
Not only that, but honor the work and effort her team has given for Part Two and post it anyway, even though it's unfinished? To offer a written conclusion for the series for the fans that want to know what happens? I've never heard of any creator doing that, ever. All that I have seen would NEVER post any unfinished content, or unveil the unwritten plot and ending. And while I'm devastated for what that means, that TMOM is well and truly concluded and Gigi will probably NEVER return, as a fan of this series, I'm so grateful that what happens to these characters won't remain a mystery.
And to repeat what I said in the comment section of the announcement video: I pray a future that is bright and beautiful for you, and you discover what an amazing person you on this journey of healing. You're going to be magnificent because you are already an incredible person, Gigi. I can't express how important TMOM has been for me, how inspiring the story has been when I was down and unable to pursue my own creativity in my writing, and I just want to thank you for the years of dedication, passion, and love you and your team have given us through The Murder of Me. I bless all the paths you walk from this day forward, and all my love and support for you goes with you on your journeys for all the rest of your days.
The Murder of Me is over. I will always be a TMOM fan, and I will always love Gigi-D and the Zielo Cave for giving me inspiration, passion, and hope for my writing again. It's because of TMOM that The Three Sovereigns even made it to development and is now currently being written with the hope of release this summer, and The Three Sovereigns will always be a tribute to The Murder of Me and the hope this story has given me.
Thank you so much, Gigi-D, the Zielo Cave, and The Murder of Me, and fare thee well, my friend.

I've been trying to write some Heiji whump but it's getting increasingly harder with every ep.
he's been
shot many times already
almost fell off a cliff
been in flaming buildings TWICE once when shot and other when it was collapsing from i think being bombed (haven't watched it yet)
pushed off a boat in the ocean while at night (THATS terrifying)
kidnapped
has fallen off his motorcycle more than once in the movies
And I feel if I reuse any of them he'll just go "eh already happen to me cant be worse than the first time."
i don't really have anything left to write whump WITH
YOU'RE RIGHT.... this guy got shot once in canon and at least thrice in movies he's going through it. even as a reader it difficult to find angsty heiji fics that hits hard enough. canon set the bar so high 😭

tw: implied violence, blood
The concrete is rough against the henchman’s hands. He makes a naive attempt to get back up, but the blossoming pain of the hero's shoe connecting with his side is enough to keep him down. Tears are making his surroundings blurry, his voice trapped painfully in his throat.
“Look who I caught lurking in the shadows,” the hero spits coldly. “Outside. One of [Villain]’s playthings, no doubt.”
The superhero hums approvingly. “Good find. Maybe this one can actually tell us something.”
A moment of silence follows, suddenly unsure. “Are we doing it now?” the hero asks.
The superhero tilts her head thoughtfully, regarding the henchman shivering at her feet. “Would you like to?”
“No, no.” The hero lets out a flat laugh. “Just wondering.”
The superhero turns to throw them a pleased smile. “He won’t be leaving any time soon. No rush.”
The hero nods shortly, and she waves them off a little dismissively. “You’ve done a splendid job this evening, [Hero]. Take this thing to a cell, and we can discuss what we’d like to know in the morning.”
The hero wordlessly heaves the henchman off the floor, shoving him past the superhero and into the corridor beyond. His footsteps stumble irregularly, cutting through the hero’s own perfectly rhythmic step. Their united shuffling echoes dully off the walls.
The hero stops him in a seemingly random corridor, gently nudging him into the bathroom. He points his gaze down to avoid the mirrors against the sinks, but he catches a glimpse of his reflection all the same—dusty, bloody, a bruise blooming cruelly against his cheek. He never knew the hero could be so vicious. Not to him.
The hero pulls a cleaning sign out from behind one of the stalls, glancing into the corridor outside before placing it on the floor beyond the door. The henchman doesn’t even look at them when they move back towards him.
“You’re a damn good actor,” he snaps, and he can’t keep the sharpness out of his tone.
“I’m so sorry, my love,” the hero says softly. “I– I didn’t mean to do this much. Here, let me clear you up a bit.”
The henchman scowls, but he doesn’t stop the hero from running a wad of tissue under one of the taps. Their hand drifts under his chin, carefully tilting his face towards the shabby overhead lights. “You’re so beautiful,” they breathe after a moment, and the henchman scoffs.
“I’m covered in dirt and blood.”
“And yet you still shine like the only star in the sky.”
The hero gently takes the tissue to his face, their touch purposely delicate. They sit in silence for a minute, the hero diligently wiping at his skin and the henchman trying not to scrunch his face up at the earnest attention he’s getting.
“You know I didn’t want to do this,” they continue once they’re satisfied with their work. The tissue in their hand is dotted with crimson stains.
“I know. I saw the camera.”
The hero sighs as they toss the tissue into the bin behind them. “I’ll make it up to you, my love. I promise.”
The henchman nods shortly and they take his face in their hands, gentle as to not disturb the wounds they’ve caused. He really is a pretty thing—they couldn’t believe their luck when he asked them on that first date along the river. They were both in too deep by the time they realised who the other was.
“Safe to say your boss doesn’t know?”
The hero snorts amusedly, tracing a thumb idly over the freckles splayed over his face. “Safe to say yours doesn’t either?”
“[Villain] was never one for romance.” The henchman graces them with a lopsided grin, but it dies down after a moment. “I feel like this is the closest we’ve been in weeks.”
The hero’s schedule has taken up most of their days; the henchman’s has taken up most of his nights. Their shared flat is feeling lonelier and lonelier every time they have to arrive home to no one.
“I’ll fix that,” the hero says certainly. “I’ll get you out, and I’ll come home.”
The henchman gives them another wonky smile, hopeful if not a little pained, and they can’t help but kiss him. It’s soft, like he’ll fall apart, but they feel his hands on their waist all the same, pulling them into him. The hero can only hope it says everything they wish they had the time to say— I’m sorry, I’ll make it up to you, I need you, I miss you, I love you, I love you, I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you.
They pull back from him after a moment, offering him a content grin and getting one back. The way the lights dance in his eyes looks like stars. “I should probably lock you up for the crime of coming here now,” the hero points out quietly, and the henchman barks out a short laugh.
“That’s fair.” His hands move away from them, much to their disappointment. “I only came here for one reason, anyway. I’ve nothing else to do but go to jail now.”
The hero sighs, planting one last kiss on his forehead. “I’ll get you out by morning.”
“I love you,” the henchman says, and the soft smile he gives them feels like they’re staring into the beauty of the rising sun.

ICE CREAM
✧. ┊TOMA HIKAGE x GN!Reader
✧. ┊SUMMARY: Summer ice cream date with Toma.
✧. ┊CONTENT: Fluff, Toma being a silly guy.
“Ice cream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Ugh, It's super hot here...” You sighs with an exhausting tone while sitting on the bench, wiping your face with a handkerchief, as the heat from the sun keeps increasing, which gave you an urge to consume something cold.
“Yeah, I would get a heatstroke for this, I sweat a lot in this summer!” A long, blond-haired boy also complains about the hot weather while sitting on the same bench as you. He wipes his forehead with his own hand, sighs for handling too much heat under the sun.
“Same... I would pass out for this.” You groaned with an annoyed tone. The boy, Toma, looks at you and nodded. Both of you and him are just sitting there while distancing to each other, trying to think about how to enjoy the summer time properly without the extreme heat bothers you and him. Then, Toma suggests something.
“How about we could get some ice cream?” Toma asked you with a smile and enthusiast while pointing at the ice cream truck. You went intrigued and then nods at him.
“Sure, why not? That sounds like a good idea!”
Tumblr media
“Hmm, which flavor I should choose?” Toma looks at the ice cream menu. So many variants to choose that he ended up gets indecisive. You stand there annoyed with the heat, wanting him to hurry to choose which flavor that would goes well.
“Ugh, come on. It's hot already!” You yelled at him with an annoyed tone. “Hang on a little bit, I can't decide which flavour I would choose!” Toma responds to you frustratingly.
“How about this (flavour)?” Toma asked you with a smile. You went intrigued, but stares at the other flavour on the menu and points your finger at it. “I'd rather prefer this one.”
“Hmm... how about we can buy two? One for me, one for you.” Toma negotiates with you. “Eh? That sounds like a good idea!” You agreed with his statement.
Tumblr media
“So, do you like it? You're not angry anymore now?” Toma asked you gleefully with a smile, while you nodded enthusiastically.
“This ice cream tastes good! I love it!” You shouted happily to him, while your mouth has a little bit of ice cream on the cheeks.
“Hold on, I just noticed something.” Toma stares directly at your cheeks, then slowly pick something with his finger and licks it. You went confused and asked him. “What's the thing you just licked?!”
“Oh haha, it's a little pieve of ice cream that just gets stuck on your cheeks, so I have to pick it up with my finger.” Toma chuckled.
“Hm, I noticed that you also have a tiny piece of ice cream on your cheeks too.” You pointed out at Toma's mouth that also full of ice cream. Toma went surprised and quickly cleans his mouth with a tissue.
“How do you feel right now?” Toma asked you.
“I think this ice cream brings me a good mood in this very hot season." You replied to him with a smile.
“I'm so glad it makes you happy!" Toma responds cheerfully. Even in the very hot season, he will always try his best to cheer you up, no matter how annoyed you are.
“When you feel heated a lot, the best thing to solve it is to chill yourself down with some sweet treats.”

Titan, I’m just thinking.
⚠️ more toh spoilies :D
Here we have a literal child god trapped in a dinner-plate who was tricked and used for many millennia.
A child who, probably spent the hundreds of years (between the people who betrayed them) crying and screaming out into the void for SOMEBODY to hear them.
A child who constantly spoke about making friends and never being left alone again.
Only to be made to fuck off into space for some “growing up”.
How the fuck is a kid supposed to “grow up” properly without an example of what to grow into???
The Collector visiting every now and again doesn’t really make a difference either.
Titan, it just pisses me off so bad at how this kid was abused for so long with nobody to help them.
