Interregum: writer tales

My two projects are vastly different. These are different styles. A deeply personal introspection on the world outside and the other one is exploring the world of the characters which aren't necessarily myself (although somewhat myself of course).

I have written a bit and yesterday i had to give myself the strength to look at the things that I have already written and published. Even as a blog, I still get scared about what I am going to put to my goblin persona. i had them sitting in my scrivener and I wasn't even sure that they were good enough. And they have to be good enough to update because there isn't anything else that is compelling it except the strange impetus of missing out on a couple of months while I had a break.

So if anyone reads and thinks that they have been creating stuff and it hasn't felt strong enough to publish or even that it needs more work please know that even though I have hit my my modest goal of getting better at writing I am still looking at my work and I am still having concerns about the validity of publishing it.

And I am comforted by my conversations with one of my friends that have the same issue with writers block because this person is one of the smartest and most skilled writers that I know and he can't even open a book or listen to audiobook or even write due to burnout. And that is a sobering thought. That our output doesn't have anything to do with our blocks in our brain. That person is still the smartest and most skilled writer even in their blocked state. And that is the trust you have to have in yourself.

It doesn't hurt to take a pause when the need calls for it. . . .I've experienced feeling the pressure of always having something to put out, even during my writing days back in fanfiction.net and Wattpad, and I felt that the feeling has translated into my habits as an illustrator. I suppose it comes with the fear of losing relevance with your audience, but the cost comes with shoddy quality that you I you could've avoided if I took the time to pause. . . .You don't always have to put out something new. Sometimes people just want to see the human side of you, the side that makes poor writing/artwork. The one that makes mistakes. I find that people relate to you better, and makes them feel that they can accomplish something worthwhile. . . .What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments 🥰 . . . Some Progress...

Got home, today, and decided that I needed to write something. Currently sitting on an added

This is more progress than I've made in a very long time, and I couldn't be more pleased about it.

Going to start trying a new way of doing things. I've always tried to be a chronological writer - what happens first? What happens next?

But I'm also the person that gets super hyped about specific scenes. So, I think I'm going to just start writing what I feel like in that moment. Connect the dots, later.

There are too many bullshit poems

I could write, swirling around in a

purgatory of contemplation ,

But it’s the same lines, same stale

sentiment , how many times can I write about your eyes? Or the stars? Or slow

moving time?

or the fucking searing red angst flowing

under my skin,

I have highways for veins , transient

blues of blood that can’t breathe

I could write about my drumming pulse

again , write a trite line about a broken

heart,

pen my personifications of a familiar

anxiety,

I could pick you apart,

talk about your words like mechanical

clockwork,

But none of it would suffice;

it’s all filler , simmering beneath scalp

and skull

I’m so much more than an errant

ink blot, of porous paper and greedy pen

but even when that ache becomes dull

I find myself here, thirsty to begin.
