When Sebastian Stan/Bucky Barnes fans are like Sam Wilson should just give the shield to Bucky if he don't want it.

But I'm like... look at Bucky Barnes in Infinity Wars.

This man whole body language screams I need help and I have given up. He has lived most his life as a human weapon to be pointed at an invisible enemy.

If you really cared about Bucky Barnes as a person, you would see why Steve did not give this man the Shield. Maybe in one of the timelines Bucky did get the Shield. But MCU Bucky ain't ready. He needs therapy for being a Prisoner of War for so long and help with his Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.

Clearly, I was one of the few that saw this man struggling to right his wrongs and not be the asset people like John Walker, Zemo, and all of Madripoor thought him to be. I mean I could only imagine how horrifying it was that he could easily get in the mindset of the Winter Soldier for Zemo so they could find the Power Broker. Honestly, if it wasn’t for Sam Wilson checking him constantly and reminding him that he is no longer the Winter Soldier, Bucky could have really killed somebody. It’s like his body isn’t his own and even the arm he gained from the Wakandians could be easily taken away with the right moves.

Sebastian Stan beautifully shows Bucky trying to live in a world without his best friend Steve Roger. I know I said Steve came back for Bucky, even as old man Steve, because ‘End of the Line’. But Bucky is in a vulnerable position right now where he shouldn’t have been left alone. Grown man or not, he is fighting demons of Hydra's making and he quickly bonds with his pseudo enemy Sam Wilson so quickly because he was the only person who reached out to him and seemed to give a damn about him.

Bucky is trying to make amends for the wrongs he has no control over. The fact that he adamantly insists that Sam take the shield, even saying on one or more occasions they should steal it should say something. That shield is the only family he has left. The only remaining part of old Steve that he knows now that Steve left him for the most part to have a life with Peggy Carter.

Even if Steve is retired, they are worlds apart as far as life experiences and similarities go. They can't hang out how they used to. Bucky is probably happy for Steve getting his happy ending; but where is Bucky’s? His family is probably dead. The world thinks his best friend is dead and gone and it is clear Bucky is grieving over the lost of the Steve he remembers. He barely was able to grieve over the lost of pre-serum Steve who he played big brother to always bailing Steve out of trouble. He was shocked when Peggy got all dolled up and blew Bucky off for post-serum Steve and now Steve is old. He's old and he is not the same Stevie anymore.

Another reason he connected with Sam is because Sam shares that same grief with Bucky. They were both Steve's best friends and knew the real Steve that the media thinks they know about him. They risk their lives for that man. Was willing to follow him to hell if they had to and he just left them both behind. He's not gone, but they don't k now this stranger that has taken Steve's place. Only their small group knows that Steve is alive and they are both offended by imitation Captain America trying to replicate their best friend and use them as props like they aren't people.

Bucky wants to believe in the words Steve said that he is better than what Hydra made him to be when they were running away in that plane from the airport. He wants to believe so hard, that he is willing to come out of hibernation to fuss at Sam. He is angry with Sam because if Steve was wrong about Sam and the shield than he was wrong about Bucky.

Bucky needs to know that he is redeemable. He needs someone to reassure and care about him. Who makes him feel normal and let's him come to them about his problems. Someone who opens their house to him and defends him even when he isn't in the room to hear it. Someone who can make him smile, laugh, get angry, scared, happy over and not let it be forced cause they already seen his ugly. Someone that knew what he did and what he is capable of doing if left unchecked.

Someone like Sam Wilson who would open his home to a fugitive Steve Roger's. Or would dive under a truck to save Bucky after teasing him about being beaten by a girl.

Bucky couldn't be real with the friends he made in New York in the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier because he killed Yori Nakajima's son and couldn't tell him until the very end.

He couldn't enjoy his blind date with Leah, the server at the restaurant they went to because he's not the same person. He's not the lady killer he was back before he joined the army. His smiles are forced and his speeches are stunted cause Bucky needs to find for himself who Bucky is now that he is free.

He cried openly to Ayo when he realized he had his on autonomy. So he should have time to enjoy it and not be burdened by being Captain America. He fought against most of the remaining Avengers and the only one who still gives a damn about Bucky despite pretending otherwise is Sam.

Bucky seems comfortable fighting at Sam Wilson's side because he sees the merit in what Steve Roger's saw in Sam. Bucky would not have allowed Sam to have the Shield if he thought he would abuse the symbol of what it meant to both Steve and Bucky. He clearly wanted Sam to have it and grimaced at just returning the Shield to John Walker.

If Bucky wanted the Shield so bad he would have take it. He could have stolen from the Smithsonian just as easily as Steve stole his old Captain America costume. He could have taken it easily when him, Sam and John fought it out.

But he didn't because he is not ready to be burden. If you actually cared about Bucky you would appreciate Bucky is trying to get better mentally and is slowly doing so under his partner, Sam Wilson's presence. He feels at home with the Wilson's... at home with Sam.

It is one of the reason why I like SamBucky... because Sam keeps it real and will always look out for the happiness of others. Even when they thought they weren't partners, Sam has quietly been by Bucky's side, teasing and helping him find his new normal as he himself deals withthe trials of being the new Captain America.

stop. i literally don't care.

i don't care about the plot holes. this movie literally transcends my need for logic or anything.

"they deserved-"

everyone got what they felt like they needed/deserved. the only thing is that nat needed a funeral on screen which wasn't given to us.

but this movie meant something more than normal to me and sure they may be multiple plot holes but I don't care. no rant can deter me from the fact that it was a beautiful movie and the end of an era.

Ok, is no one gonna talk about the big flaw at the old man Steve at the end of Avengers: Endgame?

One: Can Steve really age? Would the super soldier serum even allow that?

Two: WHAT THE FUCK WAS UP ABOUT HAVING HIM RETURN TO PEGGY AFTER SO MANY YEARS TO MOVE ON. ALSO I BELIEVE FIRMLY THAT STEVE DID NOT SPEND HIS ENTIRE TRILOGY SAVING BUCKY TO GO BACK TO PEGGY. I love Peggy so much and just makes me mad that she was only the love interest in Steve’s story and not the true badass that she was.

Three (and this is my biggest issue): When the big brain boys are discussing how time travel works they say that you can go back in time but it won’t change their time because I think the time their traveling to is a different universe. Therefore, Steve would’ve went back in time in a different universe where he and Peggy are together for the rest of their lives and he couldn’t have ended up at that bench in the same universe as he left.

Boom.

I have thought about this way too much.

Don’t worry, this is not a spoiler! I have not yet seen the film at the time of posting this!

Here’s another Endgame speculation painting, to be paired with my last one of Steve. This time the victim is Tony. After I’d thought of the previous scenario with Steve, I had the idea of Thanos also using the reality stone on Tony. Perhaps after Thanos shrinks down Steve to his original preserum form, Tony tries to come to his aid, but is stopped mid repulsor blast by the reality stone. He falls to the ground as his armor disintegrates around him. He tries to stand, but finds himself held back to the ground. He looks down to discover he’s tethered by the weight of a car battery wired to the original electromagnet from the first Iron Man film. He, like Steve, with either have to get really creative real fast, or watch helplessly while Thanos takes on the rest of the team (which, as established by age of ultron, is perhaps Tony’s worst fear.) I suppose my goal in all of this was to create something that would be more devastating than the defeat in infinity war- because if the avengers couldn’t beat Thanos with two teams, the entire force of Earth’s most advanced nation, and their full power range, what can they do when they’re stripped back to their basest parts?
