Starting my first job at the same community hospital that changed my heart 10 years ago. Before my Great Grandma Lydia had passed I hadn’t seen or been to a hospital since I was a baby. In homage to her I interned for the same hospital during undergrad and here is where I will embark on my journey as a new grad nurse. My Grandma Lydia is the epitome of free spirit and unconditional love. She was always the best energy in the room and loved to make everyone laugh and feel good about themselves. She always made the best Halloween costumes and did the best turkey impressions. A journey of 1000 submissions begins with submitting your ego. Forget the mistake and remember the lesson. Just don’t quit💥 . . . . Brazilian jiu-jitsu is teaching me a lot about patience and mind-body awareness. I took my first class earlier this year @millenniamma and instantly regretted not starting sooner. This martial art teaches a smaller person how to defend against stronger and bigger opponents using proper body leverage and technique. BJJ is all about position and strategy and thats what makes it so powerful and effective . . . . I recommend learning BJJ or any form of self-defence. No matter your age or skill level it is never too late to start. As a woman, training has taught me to love my body and what it can do for me. Sometimes I leave class laughing and in awe after I have spent a couple hours rolling on the floor in burning sweaty tears and smeared mascara after using every part of my body to protect and defend myself. It’s a learning and humbling experience EVERY TIME.
