kenma
you've been friends with kenma and kuroo ever since you were a child but you're more close with kenma due to his chill personality.
but that doesn't mean that you're less chaotic
kenma honestly questions himself as to why he's best friends with you
but you're a bit more tolerable than kuroo he guesses.
"say, if i hypothetically and accidentally broke your swi— kenma, you're gonna kill me with your stare." you laugh nervously.
"give it to me." you removed your hand behind your back and gave him his switch with a pout.
"are you mad at me?" you asked, rubbing your nape. awkwardly.
kenma sighed loudly, "yeah."
"oh" your shoulders dropped.
"but it's fine since i already bought a new one. i'm mad because i was planning to give you this one but i guess we have to make someone check it out if it's still repairable." he replied and your eyes lit up in excitement.
"really?"
"yeah."
"but i don't have the money for it."
"we'll make kuroo pay." he shrugged and you tilted your head in confusion.
"eh? do you really think he would agree to that?"
"i don't know. maybe. just do all his work or compliment him everyday, that might work."
"are you two planning on how to murder me?" kuroo appears out of nowhere, ruffling kenma's and your hair.
"yes." the setter and you answered in unison.
people also wonder how you can keep up with kenma but you're honestly one of the people that can see through him and could tell whether something is bothering him.
and he never hesitated to show you what he really feels. if he's mad then you'd let him vent and let out all his frustrations.
and there were times as well where he just wanted to be away from anyone so you gave him space.
but because he finds you tolerable, he begged you to not distance yourself from him.
now, in terms of YOU being sad, we all know he's not the greatest when it comes to comforting people but he would always find a way to cheer you up like offering you to play games with him.
he would even let you do the interior design of his house in minecraft as long as he can see you're enjoying.
just like what others do, he would typically protect you from mobs while you pick up flowers.
but most of the time, you would have a competition on which person could kill as many mobs as they can.
you also would do stupid challenges that you see on youtube.
and late night walks with him are the best since you never had to worry about bothering him when he rarely sleeps early.
let me rephrase that real quick, it's mostly you walking around while kenma sits on a bench,,, still playing.
but he would occasionally look for you to make sure you weren't lost or kidnapped.
you would eventually get tired so you just... lay on the grass and roll around.
kenma puts down his switch, "what are you doing, y/n?"
"i'm bored. you're not even paying attention." you whispered the last part but he still caught it.
"alright, sorry. stand up now. let's go to the convenience store and crash at kuroo's house." he offered and you immediately agreed.
because the two of you never failed to be in the same class every year, your classmates would be confused since you two would verbally fight and give each other a silent treatment and then one second later, you would give him food and he tries to help you beat the level you're currently on with the game you're playing.
and in the timeskip, the three of you have stable jobs like, rich rich rich very rich.
"at this point, we can be your sugar daddies." kuroo jokes but you paid no attention to him as you were still busy processing with what kenma gave you as a present.
literally everything you need for streaming— heck, you're not even sure if you would use all of them.
but kenma still wanted to drag you along with him to do things that he loves
not that you'd complain about it anyway.
"you're helping me set everything up." you finally recovered from your state of shock and pulled kenma up from your couch.
Tumblr media
akaashi
and the best 'best friend' award goes to akaashi keiji!
look, just because he's a laid-back person, doesn't mean he's unaware of how to push your buttons.
he would subtly annoy you. so subtle that not everyone could notice that you wanted to murder him on the spot.
"akaashi keiji, i will seriously ki—"
"it's settled then! y/n, please come to my office now." the teacher spoke, making you groan in frustration before standing up but you made sure to purposely step on his foot and he silently winced in pain.
the chat with the teacher didn't take long and when you exited the office, you saw your best friend standing outside, waiting for you with a barely noticeable smirk.
yeah, we might have to take back his award.
you rolled your eyes and walked past him but he grabbed your bag and pulled you back.
"sorry, do i know you?" you scoffed.
"look, i'm sorry. i already told you that you shouldn't sleep in class." he reminded, implying that him dragging you into doing something was a sort of consequence from sleeping in class.
"i know! but you decided to be annoying again and volunteered that i would help with some activity." you complained. he still hasn't let go of your bag but you continued walking which may or may not made it look like you were his pet.
akaashi knows you're not actually mad at him and so he didn't have to bother to apologize again.
"if it makes you feel better, i volunteered first before you. at least we're now both busy."
you didn't respond and continued walking, "where are you going?" he asks.
"home."
"no."
"no?"
"i have practice," he said.
"what does that have to do with me?!" you wailed.
"nothing." you facepalmed and let him pull you to the gym.
the first time you met was during middle school. you were crying because you lost a competition and unfortunately for you, akaashi was the one who won.
he tried comforting you but you pushed him away.
akaashi was persistent though. he didn't want you to stay mad at him and so he bothered you everyday until you finally started to warm up to him.
you sighed for the ninth time. deciding to make a paper plane and throw it to akaashi's way.
it fortunately hit his forehead and he 'tsk-ed' at your action but he continued reading the book anyway.
you reached for the plane, crumpling it until it's round.
"i thought you were gonna teach me?" you question and threw the paper at him, again but lucky for him, he caught it.
he pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration, "how am i supposed to teach you if you keep throwing things at me?"
you see, you're smart but there are certain subjects that you really hate and you coincidentally got sick during a discussion and now you and akaashi are currently studying in the library.
he knows he could have just lent you his notes and you can just take a photo of it but he wouldn't let you do that because his reasoning was, "you'll learn better if you write it down." you've complained to him about it many times and he'll eventually get tired and not give you anything so now you've learned your lesson,
don't annoy keiji.
but sometimes, he's kind enough to cover for you when you're asleep during class and would lie to the teachers by saying you're sick.
which rarely happens since he doesn't always tolerate you so being friends with him feels like having a parent watch you all the time.
"maybe if i befriended konoha then i'm already done with this." you huffed.
"he doesn't have the patience to deal with you, y/n." you let out an offended gasp before throwing your pencil case at him.
honestly speaking, the two of you get along really well. you're more talkative and he tends to listen to your rants a lot.
and of course, he would also share to you how his day went and how he found a new way to get bokuto out of his emo mode.
hanging out with him outside of school can be chaotic at times.
especially if you decide to go to the arcade because expect him to tease you a lot when you couldn't get the prize you wanted.
he would help you though:)
and since you two are a popular duo, you would often get a lot of confessions from boys and akaashi would ramble about how it's a waste of time and that you should focus on your studies.
but he would also reassure you that he'll support you no matter what decision you make.
in conclusion, he's a bit confusing and indecisive but he just wants the best for you but then he would also start thinking that he's being controlling of your own life.
akaashi also can't keep his cool sometimes,
"i can't believe they cheated on me." you hugged your legs closer to your chest as you sob.
his practice was already over but he insisted that the two of you stay at the gym so that you could talk to him about your problems.
"they’re an asshole, y/n." he replied.
usually, he would rub circles on your back when you're crying but this time, he stayed still on his seat so you glanced at him and frowned.
"you weren't even paying attention," you said.
"i was," he stopped typing on his phone to look at you.
"i was just searching up ways how to murder someone without getting caught." he joked and you chuckled.
"just kidding. i was ordering your favorite food. now stand up and wipe your tears. don't let that asshole see you vulnerable. show him that you don't even need him in the first place because you don't need anyone, 'kay?" he pulled you up and nodded at his advice.
"except for me, of course. how else would you be alive if it weren't for me?"
"i have my own parents." you rolled your eyes playfully.
"they don't love you— they prefer me." he teased once again. earning a punch from you.
Tumblr media
suga
aDMIT IT, SUGA IS SO FUN TO BE WITH.
like sureeee he would help you most of the time
but he's also the same person that would get you in trouble.
"vice principal, i am so sorry! i didn't mean to knock off your wig! please don't suspend me—"
"it's fine, l/n. just go and don't tell anyone." the old man sighed.
you bowed and left, running to where suga was standing.
you saw your friend biting his lower lip to stifle a laugh.
you glared at him but you couldn't help but to cackle at what happened and now you two are being noisy in the hallway that made others look at you weirdly.
"i told you, he's bald!" he exclaimed and your laugh couldn't get any louder until you start coughing from the lack of oxygen.
"oH MY GOD— DON'T DIE ON ME Y/N," he said dramatically before offering you a bottle of water.
"you're so dramatic, please shut up." you rolled your eyes after drinking.
you and suga have been arguing for a week about how he witnessed himself how the vice principal's wig flew off and it was too good to be true so you didn't believe him.
not until your beloved best friend pushed you to the vp's direction accidentally.
you were taller than the old man so when you bumped into him, you wanted to grab onto something for support but instead, you knocked off his hairpiece.
and suga ran away instead of helping you.
we love a supportive friend.
"well at least he was kind enough to not give you a punishment." suga shrugged and you just nodded your head in agreement.
when you transferred to karasuno during second year, you luckily met suga when you asked for directions.
you two were in the same class so he accompanied you the whole day.
he was very talkative and you loved hearing him talk about volleyball.
at first, you admired him for how approachable and kind he is
but now you just want to kick him.
"i said he wasn't my crush!" you convinced him but suga ony hummed in response.
"but you were staring at him with heart eyes." he quirked a brow.
"i wasn't!"
"you were!"
"i wasn't!"
"you we—"
"suga and y/n, that's enough." daichi sighed. pushing the two of you apart from each other.
"daichi! your vice captain is being annoying again."
"daichi, did you know that y/n has a crush on y—" his words were cut off when you covered his mouth with your hand and he had no choice but to bite your palm and you backed away in disgust.
"i don't like you anymore." you huffed and he just ruffled your hair.
"ah really now?" he smiled but you knew that behind that smile was an evil intention.
"nevermind." you muttered. not trusting your own friend.
oh and your parents adore suga.
like, they know you have other friends as well but suga is the only person they trust to be with you all the time.
and honestly, you agree with them. no words or numbers could describe how much you trust the setter.
despite his naughty and chaotic attitude, he always takes care of you.
kind of like akaashi but he's a bit more loose.
he's very good at giving you advice.
he's also the type of friend that sulks when you miss a game.
like, he would literally ignore you.
and now you're struggling how to make him forgive you.
"kōshi, enough. you've been ignoring me for a week! it was just one game, come on." you persuaded, poking his side but he didn't budge and continued writing down notes.
"i'm sorry for missing your game. i swear, it was an accident! i would never miss your next match again!"
he shifted in his seat and your eyes were filled with hope.
he looks at you with a slight hint of disappointment, "even if i'm not a regular anymore?" the question caught you off guard.
"what do you mean?" he remained quiet and you took that as a sign that he didn't wanna talk and so you impatiently waited for classes to be over.
as soon as you were dismissed, you pulled him out of the classroom to take him to your favorite spot just near the gym.
"i don't like how you're doubting my ability to support you. it doesn't matter what you do— heck, you could even commit a crime and i might bail you out of jail." you uttered. finally breaking the silence that engulfed the two of you the past few minutes.
you struggle with expressing how you feel sometimes and being able to decipher your analogies is one of suga's skills.
"your comforting skill is top tier." he replied.
you know how he would playfully hit his teammates? he'd do the same to you but he would only give you head pats, not wanting to hurt you physically.
and you unexpectedly just learned how to love it.
it somehow inspires you to work harder since he only gives you head pats when you achieve something and it's his way of congratulating you!
he also likes to drag you along with him. he wants to watch a movie? he would buy an extra ticket just for you!
but sometimes, he would whine about being broke when he's with you🤡
would also be ready to make a presentation as to why you are his platonic soulmate.
please just agree with him so he won't be sad</3
last but not the least, gossiping.
literally, the two of you will not call it a day if you haven't talked about any issues at all.
so even if you were sleepy, he would call or text you in the middle of the night and be like, 'tea time?'
Tumblr media
aaahh imagine how shock i was when i saw that this was about 2k words overall AHAHA. i know that akaashi's part seems a bit off but honestly i just imagine him being a bit mischevious and more open to people he's genuinely close with so yeah! i had so much fun writing but i feel bad becaue it was so long- anyway, thank you for reading!<3

“I GUESS I’M JUST A PLAY DATE TO YOU.”
previous ❀ next ❀ series masterlist
𝟏𝟑. y/n shouldn’t be allowed to drink
𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬: kicked out of her home with no place to go, y/n is forced to move into her family friend’s home, who coincidentally is also the family of tsukishima kei, the boy who denied her confession.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kei knew he was shit at apologies.
His entire life, he never bothered to apologize. Sure, there were instances when he was a kid where his mother would scold him for playing too roughly with his brother and he would have to stubbornly mutter an, “I’m sorry.” Or sometimes he’d give a quick, “sorry” to Yamaguchi when he was being particularly snarky that day. But none of those were real apologies, none that would help him now. They couldn’t prepare him for when you walked through the door.
He heard the front door open from his bedroom, instantly knowing it was you from your soft footsteps. He had been sitting in his room, trying to think of what to say, but how do you apologize to someone who you unjustifiably called an attention whore who had daddy issues? (Kei cringed at the memory, realizing how much of a jackass he sounded.)
His hand hesitated when it reached the doorknob to walk out to you, what would he even say? He couldn’t even text you a proper apology (he’s pretty sure you blocked him anyway). Swallowing down his uncertainty, he turned the doorknob.
You had just reached the top of the stairs when he opened the door, your face instantly curling with irritation. Before he could even open his mouth, you marched to your room, and slammed the door shut.
“Y/N, wait!” He called, running over to your room.
He went to open your door, instantly throwing out his ‘no entering each other’s rooms’ policy, only to find it already locked.
“Y/N, open the door please-”
Your door flew open, your expression eerily bright.
“Oh? Are you here to call me an attention whore again?” You chirped. “Maybe you can grade my daddy issues!”
“Y/N, I’m sorry, you didn’t deserve that, I was just being a jackass-”
“Y’know, Kei? That seems to happen alot with you…” You hummed in fake thought, “have you ever considered, maybe you just actually are a jackass?”
“Y/N-”
“Kids! Akiteru’s home! Come downstairs!” His mother called from the kitchen.
“Go fuck yourself, Kei,” you snapped, before heading downstairs.
That couldn’t have gone any worse.
Tumblr media
At dinner, nobody could have guessed you were angry at all. You wore a cheerful smile, getting along with everybody with your animated conversation, well, besides him. You had ignored him all dinner, barely even sparing him a glance.
“Oh, I have something!” His brother said, before running into the kitchen. He came back and presented a bottle of sake. “I thought I would bring something home.”
“Akiteru, just because you’re the drinking age now doesn’t mean you can drink at dinner,” his mother sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
“Oh, just let him pour us a glass, this is a special dinner since we barely see him anymore,” his father said.
“Pour the kids a glass too while you’re at it. Hayami, if you’re okay with Y/N drinking, that is,” he added.
“A small glass won’t hurt, we’re in the house anyway,” Hayami shrugged.
Akiteru fetched some glasses from the kitchen, pouring out small amounts and passing them along the table. He took a sip, ignoring the burn in his throat as he swallowed it down.
You took a small sip before coughing, patting your chest as you retched.
“Don’t tell me I raised a lightweight,” Hayami joked, poking your side. You fumed as she giggled.
The rest of dinner passed by the same, you continued to ignore him, making him lose hope you’d ever forgive him. As time went, he took notice how your cheeks started to flush, your swaying in your seat, and your higher pitched voice. You weren’t actually a lightweight, were you?
“So Y/N, how’s Kei at school? I wanna hear all about it,” Akiteru teased. Kei shot him a glare which Akiteru stuck his tongue out at.
“Kei is actually an asshole,” you slurred. “He’s rude, condescending, and I’m not sure why I ever liked him.”
The table stilled.
Oh no.
Hayami choked on her drink, his mother gasped, his father awkwardly sipped from his glass, and Akiteru’s eyes nearly bugged out of his head. Kei never wanted somebody to put him out of his misery more than he did now. Kei prayed to every god there was that this wasn’t actually happening, but there was a good chance this was karma, and God was actually laughing at him instead.
“Y/N!” Akane gasped, “you like Kei?” His mother was too meddling for her own good.
“Liked,” you clarified, “up until I confessed and he decided to grade my letter instead, in case you didn’t know, I failed with a D-!”
“Kei! I raised you better than this!” His mother hissed before turning back to you, “when was this?”
“The day we moved in. Imagine my surprise when I found out that day I was gonna move in with the guy who rejected me!” You dramatically whined.
Kei debated if he could stab himself with his pair of chopsticks.
“You graded her letter?” Akiteru replied, “What kind of asshole does that?”
“Thank you!” you sang, “y’know, I think you’re my favorite Tsukishima brother.”
“So Kei, why’d you grade her letter, huh?” Akiteru asked, turning the attention to him.
“I- Uh- Well I didn’t know her…”
“You could’ve just said no,” Akiteru deadpanned.
“He did it because he’s a jerk!” You exclaimed, your face in a pout.
“I know it had a few grammar mistakes and all but it’s the thought that counts!” You whined, tears starting to bubble in your eyes.
Not only were you drunk, you were a crying drunk.
“I think Y/N is done for tonight,” his mother chimed, “Kei, could you take her to her room and make sure she gets to bed?”
His shot Hayami a mischievous grin that Hayami grimaced to (and one that he nor Y/N picked up on).
Kei wanted to decline, but with the way everyone was staring at him, he decided it’d just be better to agree and get it over with.
“Alright,” he sighed, making his way over to your swaying form. He tried to throw your arm over his shoulder, but you wiggled free.
“I’m not going anywhere with you!” You protested.
“Y/N, could you please just-”
“No!” You barked.
He tried again, to no avail.
“Okay, you know what?” He muttered, growing irritated. In one fell swoop, he picked you up bridal style.
“Let me down!” You whined.
“When we get to your room, I will.”
You glared at him, but stopped trying to fight your way free. He exhaled in relief, and made his way to the staircase.
When you two were out of earshot, his mother leaned over to Hayami.
“I was thinking of a spring wedding,” she whispered.
“Akane!”
Making your way to your room was quiet since you decided to stop fighting, you even wrapped your arms around his neck to avoid falling.
“You’re a real jerk,” you mumbled, your face buried in his neck, not brave enough to meet his eyes.
“I know,” he replied, nudging open your door.
He made sure to carefully place you down into your bed, as you already began to curl up.
“Cold,” you muttered.
“What? Do you want me to tuck you in too?” He quipped sarcastically. “Was carrying you to bed not enough?”
“Hmph!”
“Fine, fine, brat,” he replied, pulling your covers over you as you pulled it up to hide your face.
Poking your eyes up from the covers, “are you really sorry?”
“I am,” he muttered, “you didn’t deserve that, and I’m sorry I said what I did today, I really am.”
You yawned, “I believe you.”
“Wait, you do?”
You had already closed your eyes though, beginning to drift off.
He chuckled, of course you would fall asleep before he could ask more.
He made his way out to the door, turning back to you.
“Goodnight, Y/N.”

hi for the matchups ?
my pronouns are she/they and i would like a male haikyuu matchup please !!
my personality mainly revolves around music, i play piano and my spotify is my love. i’m a queer woc entp 8w7 and i’m a pisces sun, aries moon, and libra rising (and aries venus) i also skate and i love traveling and going to cities. i’m an ambivert but because most of my friends are more introverted i tend to act more extroverted in situations. i act mean but i really am mostly indifferent to people. i love food, music, color theory, and watching anime - my favorites are soul eater, given, and jjk. my favorite artists are tyler the creator, childish gambino, gorillaz, the 1975, tv girl, sza, frank ocean, boy pablo, rex oc.
i would like someone understanding in a relationship. i’m not great with addressing my feelings and talking abt them and i think i would need someone to help me open up. i cant deal with liars and i need someone communicative.
i would need someone to be able to give me space. i wouldn’t mind a clingy s/o but i really like being alone and just by myself so i would need that space.
my ideal date would probably be stargazing and talking late at night after a confidence store run <33 thanks !! <33
hi!! thank you for being so patient with me (TT) i’ve been horribly busy the last few weeks;; anyway! i hope you enjoy your matchup 🤧
I’d match you up with: Tetsuro Kuroo !
- I actually was very, very torn between Kuroo and Kenma but ultimately I think you’d do very well with someone like Tetsu!
- He really appreciates your ambivert nature since he’s personally kind of like that too though often leaning into extroversion.
- Kuroo seems like the type of guy who likes to travel a lot, he likes getting to know and explore the world and different cities, so being with him would probably involve traveling around (both due to his liking to the activity and job) and tagging along. He probably also has a list of places he wants to travel to really bad, so it’s likely he’d like to take a month or two off for the two of you to travel around.
- I feel like your tastes in music would be similar
too! He strikes me as someone who enjoys the same artists and would probably ask you to recommend him some music from time to time.
- He might ask you to teach him to skate sometimes but he’s kind of lanky and might trip and fall a lot (poor boy), he’ll insist on learning though!
- He doesn’t mind your indifference towards people, he’s friends with Kenma - he’s very aware not everyone is like Bokuto or him - if anything I can seem almost admiring it since for some time, I feel like he probably really cared about others opinions on him.
- Now, Kuroo is such a sweetheart, if you ever said you needed space he wouldn’t think twice before giving you some. He’s actually very good at talking to people and connecting with them, so you wouldn’t have much of a problem opening up - even if you did, Tetsu would wait as long as you needed to. Communication is super important to him, I think you’d both have a very easy time talking and understanding each other.
- You and Kuroo would seriously be such a power couple.
- MBTI wise; you two share the same personality type ENTP, that coincidentally makes a very good couple! ENTP’s are known to value their morals deeply and tend to look for common grounds often, which means arguments are rare between both of you, though they may get heated - overall, communication between you two is very important and it flows pretty well.
- Astrology; (Pisces + Scorpio sun), (Aries + Taurus moon), (Aries + Scorpio venus)! Both of your sun’s are super compatible, both of you tend to be more sensitive to emotions and aware of each other’s feelings, which translates to a very open and healthy relationship. While your moon’s might have a bit of a conflict, Taurus tends to like routines while Aries enjoys mixing things up, with enough dedication put into it though Taurus + Aries moon couples are very creative and can learn to love and accept each other. Both of your Venus are very, very passionate so the relationship will also be, fights may be scary but your sun signs definitely balance this aspect out,
- Even your enneagram types are super compatible, seriously, I think you and Kuroo would be an IT couple!
Runner ups: Kita, Iwaizumi, and Kenma!

Five loving ways
Tumblr media
five ways oikawa shows he likes you (one of them is from you)
featuring oikawa tooru from haikyuu aoba johsai volleyball team <3
fem!reader
warnings: none other than just fluff and fluff and some curse words.
word count: 1,5k+
And let’s pretend the two schools mentioned in this is in the same prefecture okay-
I hope you enjoy this, cause oikawa deserves all the love and appreciation he gets <3
dedicated to my dear friend @zadaye <3
When you had first met Oikawa, it was at the school his favorite nephew goes to, which coincidentally your little sister also does. There is a another coincidence: they’re in the same class!
When you met, your little sister apparently had pushed his nephew to the ground for being mean to her meanwhile his nephew says something else. As her big sister, you immediately stood by her side and defending her.
As you were trying your best to scold his nephew gently as possible, his brother that you assumed first appeared yelling as a child telling you what the hell you’re doing. As you got kinda offended but held your temper you gently explained the situation to which Oikawa sighs at his nephew.
“You were mean to a girl?” He asks his nephew to which his nephew looks up at him with puppy eyes. “He’s a devil incarnate.” Your little sister mutters to you. “When he does that, he’s not being honest.” Your sister adds.
“What’s makes you so sure about that?!” His nephew yells rushing up to your sister. Having slow reflexes, he had pushed your sister to the ground to which you and his brother immediately butted in and stopped them from fighting.
“If someone is devil incarnate it’s my brother here.” The little boy says to which you tried to hold in your laugh for especially when you saw his brothers reaction. He went blank. Like totally blank. Your sister laughs as loudly as she could then she pulled you away to go home.
Encountering his brother, whose name was Oikawa and not actually his brother, blossomed into a friendship and perhaps something more.
1.
Because of you and Oikawa now being friends, your little sister and his nephew Takeru are now often hanging out together and playing. Now it was at your house. You told the kids you’re going to take a shower so they’re gonna be alone for a while.
“My brother is coming too.” Takeru says as you nod. “Then that’s great.”
You finished taking a shower, walked into your room. You were about to take off the towel off your body when the door to your room suddenly opened. Oikawa bursts in and you scream.
“What the fu-GET OUT!” You scream at him as he screams because you’re screaming. “Oh my god I didn’t know you were naked!” He cries out as he immediately walks out and closes the door.
“Why were you coming in anyway?” You ask him. “I was about to give you a body lotion, you always forget to bring it to your room.” You immediately smile at that and your heart warms at his thoughtful thinking. “Thank you.” You mutter as you open the door a little only for your hand to come out and take the lotion from his hand. “No problem!” Oikawa says in a singing way.
2.
You and Oikawa did not study at the same school. While he is studying at Seijoh, you’re studying at Shiratorizawa.
“What is Wakatoshi doing now?” Oikawa asks. You shrug. “I don’t know.” Oikawa had waited for you at the school gates. No matter how much he detest that school, he still comes to pick you up or give you company home as you live pretty close to each other.
“How is he?” He asks again. “I don’t know.” You shrug once again.
“Have he been practicing a lot?” He asks again for the third time. “Oikawa, I don’t know. I’m not interested in what he does!” You say in a annoyed voice. “Why not?” He asks for the fourth time.
“Why should I be interested?” You ask him Oikawa shrugs. “Never asked.” He mutters. “Yes you did, now tell me why I should be interested in Wakatoshi.” You stop walking as you face him.
Oikawa was about to speak up when a another familiar deep voice buts in.
“Is something going on here?” Both of you turn to face the person and it’s Wakatoshi himself.
“No, why?” Oikawa turns stern as he stands in front of you in a protective manner which makes you wanna giggle a bit.
“It looked like you were about to attack my classmate.” Wakatoshi bluntly says. Oikawa scoffs and you slightly laugh a bit. Then realization hit Oikawa.
“Wakatoshi is your classmate?!” Oikawa slightly raises his voice in surprise at you. You nod. “Yeah he is.”
“Yeah I am and nice to meet you here outside of the school you should’ve come to.” Wakatoshi nods at the both you then jogs away. Oikawa looks at him with a mad face before turning to you.
“You never told me that he is your classmate.” Oikawa says as you both start to walk again.
“I didn’t want to because I know how easy you rile up at the mere thought of him or his name.” You say. Oikawa puts his arm around your shoulder.
“Ain’t you a great best friend.” Oikawa says.
“Don’t say that to me when you say that to Iwa-chan all the time.” You roll your eyes playfully as Oikawa laughs.
3.
You were now hanging out with Oikawa and Iwaizumi. After a bit of strolling down town, you guys decided to go have a small break with coffee and cake at some nearby cafe.
While ordering your things, Iwaizumi and Oikawa decided to find a seat and found one table beside the window.
“Iwa-chan, don’t sit there.” Oikawa says pointing at the seat beside the window. Iwaizumi looks like his temper is up high. “And why should I not that do that?” He says. Oikawa mentions your name. “She usually sits there as she hears better if she faces us that way.” Oikawa answers. Iwaizumi nods his head and sits down beside Oikawa instead of the seat opposite him.
You finally ordered your stuff and brought the boys their stuff together with yours.
“Cake!” You squeal a little, not to loud that you’re considered screaming. “Yes!” Iwaizumi says as he takes his plate with the cake he ordered. “Thank you!” He says while smiling at you and eats his cake. Oikawa snickers at his action and you just giggle while sitting down.
“Thank you for the cake. You’re the best for bringing it over for us.” Oikawa smiles at you as you just move you hand in a it’s-no-problem-way.
4.
You were gonna play paintball with Oikawa and some friend of his and yours. You had your gear and everything ready. You were about to pull your hair up in a tail when you realized you don’t have any hair tie with you.
You were about to go without it when someone had pulled you back by grabbing onto your shoulders.
“I always have some spare with me when I am with you. You always forget.” Oikawa says clicking his tongue in disbelief a little while running his hand through your hair. Your heart warms at what he did and you just nod.
“Thank you.” You say, smiling even though he can’t see it. “Anything.” He says while tying your hair and tugs it a bit tighter so it sits.
“Done! I braided a little too.” He tells you while grinning at you. “That’s kind of you.” You grin as you give him a fast hug and walk away feeling a bit shy.
Oikawa felt his heart run a marathon and he puts his hand on his chest and blushes a little. “Dude stop, that looks so weird.” Iwaizumi says. “Leave me alone, Iwa-chan!” Oikawa whines out. “Keep dreaming, cringykawa.” Iwaizumi laughs as he walks away.
5.
You had a sleepover at Oikawa’s. His parents were out somewhere else so he was home alone so he decided to pull a sleep over. He invited his friends which consisted of Matsukawa, Hanamaki and Iwaizumi. Meanwhile you invited over your only friend from school. You all knew each other anyways so there was no awkward silence.
A whole day consisting of fun and laughter it was time to sleep so you all slept on mattresses in the living room.
Oikawa saw you sleep soundly yet you still shivered. He remembers you telling him that you sleep with two blankets as it’s easier for you to get cold. As he was the one laying down beside you (your friend on the other side), he was about to give you his blanket when he remembered that he won’t have a blanket himself so he shared instead. Immediately he felt the warmth radiating from your body and he smiles to himself. Even though I look like I’m being selfish for not giving her the whole blanket, I wasn’t being selfish. I was being thoughtful of both of us. Oikawa thinks to himself.
Oikawa feels you stirring in your sleep a bit so he faces you and then you open your eyes and didn’t expect to get surprised with a close up of Oikawa himself.
“Shit!” You almost screamed and Oikawa giggles at you. The distance between you two weren’t that long, it was close that if he just moved his head forward, his face would meet with yours. “You were getting cold so I shared my blanket.” Oikawa whispers to you. Your heart skips a beat at the thought of him sharing his blanket and being thoughtful. You felt hot inside and since he was your best friend, everything pretty much felt normal with him. So you held onto his hand that was under the blanket, intertwined your hands and you look up at Oikawa.
“Thank you.” You whisper back. Oikawa felt himself blushing and since he was loss of words he just nodded. “You could’ve taken the blanket yourself but you decided to share it with me, that’s really adorable of you.” You giggle.
“If it was anyone else you would not have done that, probably not to your closest frie-“ you felt a pair of lips on yours. Stunned as you were, you were still in a shocked state when Oikawa pulls away.
“I did so because I like you very much.” He pulls himself closer to you and you nose touches his chin as you look up and Oikawa himself was also looking up as he felt a tad bit embarrassed and shy. “Not like a friend but I like you to the point that I wanna date you, hold your hand and be your boyfriend.” Oikawa whispers. He pulls his head down to gently lay his forehead on yours. You felt his hand on your waist.
So you pull your yourself closer to his face and plaster your lips on his which Oikawa gladly responds back to. He held your waist a bit closer this time and you cup his jaw with your hands. You pull away and leave a chaste kiss on his lips which Oikawa grins to. He himself leaves one kiss on your lips making you giggle, which leads him to playfully kiss your jaw and nose and cheeks. You try not to giggle so much to wake the others.
“Shhh” Oikawa shushes you with his index finger while grinning at you. “They can hear us.” He whispers.
“I heard that, you trash, now go sleep you motherfu*ckers.” Iwaizumi grunts which didn’t stop you or Oikawa from laughing quietly as possible while covering your mouth.
I think I just made Oikawa way softer than he actually is lmao but he is a softie okay :( <33 hope you enjoyed this, have a great day/night! Be safe and take care <3

having a full on existential crisis over an episode of anime i watched tonight
it all started with big time rush
in 2009 a sitcom called big time rush aired for the first time on nickelodeon; it was about a group of four teenaged boys from minnesota who move to hollywood under a famous producer to become his next big boy band sensation. a simple premise, launched into unprecedented success, resulting in four seasons of musical shenanigans, three full music albums, and three big concert tours, including international shows. the band, both fictional and real life, featured four attractive young men by the names of kendall, james, carlos, and logan. they quickly gained a fan base of mostly teenage girls, which resulted in online spaces created for the purpose of sharing their passion, and as is common in such online communities, this certainly involved fanfiction- lots of it.
enter me, a teen in high school who loved to write fanfiction. my big time journey began the day my younger sister decided to put on the show big time rush in the living room, where i sat at the family computer typing away. the noise caught my attention, and i got sucked into the episode. there was a boy wearing a dress on the screen. i became interested.
i watched more of the show. i typed its name into the search bar on the website fanfiction dot net. i had a friend at school who shared my interest in fanfiction, particularly of the slash variety. i introduced her to this new show i had been watching. she shared a fanfic she had enjoyed immensely with me. we dragged each other into the world of big time rush fanfiction reading and writing.
it took over my life; i lived and breathed big time rush. i began posting my own stories to fanfiction dot net. i received positive feedback; i met people. i made friends- two people in particular who became very close friends. we communicated through ffn’s private messaging system, then through email. we talked every day, we wrote stories for and with each other, we exchanged phone numbers. it was one of these friends who introduced me to the website called tumblr, where fellow fans of our beloved big time rush gathered and talked about it- a community.
it was a slow start- this website was new and unfamiliar to me- but eventually i got the hang of things and settled into my niche. i had fun, gained followers, met even more people. tumblr was a place not only for sharing one singular interest, but for accumulating all of your various interests and celebrating them in one place. it was through this aspect that i first learned of the up and coming band known as one direction.
they had released their first smash hit single and everyone was talking about it. i was wary, far too loyal to my beloved big time rush- but eventually i started to feel left out and in an effort to feel included, i decided to take the plunge and see what this “1d” was all about. it was intimidating, though- there was so much information, and no apparent beginner’s guide to tell me where to start. this drove me to making a post calling for a “one direction buddy” to take this role, to introduce me to all the most important aspects of this band. and my call was answered.
enter my wonderful friend cam, a follower of mine at the time. they were into both big time rush and one direction and were eager to provide me with all the information needed to get into 1d. while ultimately this venture didn’t amount to anything, as i lost interest in becoming a fan, my friendship with cam persisted and we grew very close. even as time went on and big time rush faded into the background to be replaced with newer, fresher interests, and our paths as fellow fandom members split, we kept in contact and remained friends. years and years of fandoms, years and years of friendship.
in the midst of the tenth year, cam developed a new interest, in a sport called ice hockey. as is tradition, they shared their passion with me, showing me their favorite team, highlighting their favorite members. we watched a game together. personally, i’ve never been one for sports, but i am quite into anime, which consists of many genres, including the “sports” genre. one in particular that i’ve enjoyed immensely in the past is the volleyball anime, haikyuu!!. this anime devotes a lot of time to explaining and depicting the sport in a way that makes it easy for any viewer to understand the rules and inner workings of volleyball. it’s exciting. it’s the first time i’ve ever even adjacently been invested in a sport. one could even call it a gateway into the world of sports.
all this to say, when i watched that game of ice hockey with cam, the same parts of my brain that loved haikyuu!! lit up and in a classic display of my specific brand of interest, i found myself yearning for the epic highs and lows of ice hockey, but in an animated format. an animated format originating in japan. a japanese animation. an anime. my curiosity burned a hole in my brain that resulted in a combination of the google search bar and the words, “hockey anime”.
to my disappointment, i found nothing- at least, not to the degree i was hoping. there is an upcoming anime, slated to air in the fall 2021 anime season, about a group of girls who form an ice hockey team together- as it is an original project rather than an adaptation, it remains to be seen whether the anime will fall into the category of “sports anime,” or if indeed it will lean much more closely to the “moe” genre. the latter is not what i had in mind during that particular search.
adding the anime called “pride of orange” to my “plan to watch” list on myanimelist dot com, i moved onto the next result: an article about an early 2010’s anime i had never heard of before. while not about the sport i was looking for, it featured a character whose signature weapon was a field hockey stick. it wasn’t even the right sport. it was a weak, insignificant link, but all was not lost.
i happen to have an affinity for watching anime i happen upon completely by random and know little to nothing about; i found the movie “anthem of the heart” purely coincidentally, when i searched the name “jun” as part of some research for one of my original characters and discovered that it was the main character of said movie, which i then watched and ended up enjoying quite a lot. another time, when i was at best buy one day i happened upon a dvd on their dedicated anime shelf for a movie called “hana and alice”, which i had never heard of before. i liked the box art, so i took a picture of it to remember the title and watched it on my own later that week; it became one of my favorite movies.
with these and other similar experiences in mind, i saved the anime in my “plan to watch” list, and, later that same week, began my watch of “sket dance.”
it’s a school comedy anime, one of my favorite genres, so it’s no surprise that after overcoming the initial skepticism i carry into every new show i watch it quickly became my new fixation. not an obsession, but something i was pleasantly surprised to find consistently enjoyable. the characters are fun, the humor is tight and fresh, and the stories are unexpectedly touching at the right moments. everything i like to see.
which brings us to tonight. the culmination of this ten plus year string of events and occurrences. getting into big time rush. joining tumblr. meeting cam. watching anime. searching for hockey anime.
i put down my apple(TM) pencil. i set my ipad aside. i downsized the ebook window i’d been referencing. i stretched; i was hungry and tired. i’d been rereading passages of various animorphs books all day. i needed a break. i needed to sit back with some food and an episode of my latest comfort watch, sket dance. it’d be nice to set the dramatic, tragic world of animorphs aside for something lighthearted and fun in its place.
well.
i sat down with my bowl of strawberries and played the episode. it finished. i watched another. this one broke the formula a bit, played with the art style. i was into it. the preview for the next episode was mysteriously blank, and short, stating only the title. it was intriguing. i’m down for the show to get a bit more serious for an episode, i thought. i’m down for some potential backstory for one of the main three. i’m ready.
i was not ready.
bruh.
b r u h .
next two episodes proceeded to take me out back and beat me to within an inch of my life, slowly at first and then all at once. barely made it out alive. questioning everything. how can a show, so silly and goofy, do that, to me. how could i let my guard down like that. how could i be so tricked, and deceived, and blindsided like this. i don’t know who to trust. i don’t know if i can trust again. whiplash so damaging, permanent. i thought i wanted answers. i thought i wanted to know backstory. i didn’t want this. i never wanted this. emptiness
how did it come to this, these twelve years of my life. had i known back then, would i have posted that fanfiction? would i have joined tumblr? would i have sook out a “one direction buddy”? a hollow husk of a person, i am left with only my thoughts to ponder this small history of mine. the things i could have done differently. the things others could have done differently. all these butterfly effect moments, adding up to what? culminating in what? it’s 2:26 am and i’m writing an essay on how shook i am over that episode instead of going to sleep. but i can’t just say nothing, you know? i need to put something out there, reach deep enough within myself to find the thing that’s still there, broken and huddled and tiny as it is. i need to feel some semblance of the self again. the me from before i watched this episode. the innocent version of myself, blissful in ignorance. it’s too late now.
that episode…………..was fucked up. that was seriously fucked up. im not okay bro they really just came in left field and slapped that in my face expecting me to get up and walk away just fine afterwards like No that isn’t how this Works y’all need to bundle some therapy sessions with ur episodes pullin that shit come ON
exhaustion is taking over the shock, i am simply tired now. i will fall asleep and when i wake up sket dance will be a happy fun show again with NO fucked up backstories ever Or Else. i’m fucking serious right now i’m gonna count to 3 and that shit better be retconned when i turn around,
screams
thank you

volleyball player! skz
currently watching: haikyuu!! season 2
note: my posts recently have sucked ass, so i’m trying to make up for that by writing some longer and better imagines! i am currently revising some of my imagines so if they seem different since when you first read them that’s why :) as always, send requests!
bang chan
okay so obviously he’s captain
and he has no clue why
he’s not the best player on the team
BUT everyone looks up to him
and he’s a great leader
he plays back row
he gets hot and rolls his sleeves up to show his arms ;)
when the team doesn’t win he still treats them to a meal because they ALWAYS try their hardest
gets really scary when mad but most of the time he’s chill
sometimes he’s too nice just because he hates yelling especially when it comes to his teammates
honestly one of the best captains ever
lee minho
also a manager!
he only joined because he saw jisung was joining!
doesn’t really mind though because everyone’s hot!
he’s really chill and doesn’t know half the things that are going on
all he knows is that during warm ups and practices he gets the balls that fly across the gym
in all honesty he really wants to play with everyone but he’s too afraid to ask especially because they might make fun of him
when he finally gets the courage to ask he only asks chan for help
so they have secret lessons after practice for an hour
eventually everyone finds out but they pretend they don’t know anything because they’re lowkey shipping them together they’re glad minho wants to learn for the team
seo changbin
okay
i know this boy’s a libero
you know this boy’s a libero
BUT IT’S NOT BECAUSE HE’S SHORT!!!
he is very muscular and he’s so good at receiving the ball
even when the strongest balls are hurled at him his body barely moves
everyone makes fun of his height
he does like hitting but he knows he’s not going to help the team by being a hitter so he stays as a libero
he thinks he’s lucky because the libero uniform looks way better on him than the regular uniforms do
so it’s a win win situation
hwang hyunjin
we all know this boy is pretty tall compared to the rest of skz
so he’d be middle blocker (probably the only player that is their position because of his height)
his hits are so hard that the opposing team can’t process what’s going on
he looked so intimidating that everyone was scared to talk to him when he first joined the team
he’s pretty well known to other teams in the country
most teams that play against them talk about how scary hyunjin looks but after the game hyunjin apologizes to anyone he’s hurt or scared and everyone’s thrown off by how kind he is
works himself really hard because he doesn’t just wanna be known for his looks
han jisung
used to play as setter BUT now is an opposite hitter!!!
he’s actually really serious when playing volleyball compared to his energetic personality
he’s like a whole new person
other players are also thrown off by the way jisung plays because he seems to be very playful before the game
he doesn’t look too intimidating but then he plays and everyone get scared
many teams are scared of team skz
he’s been playing for a little while so he’s always trying to help his teammates when they’re struggling
most of the team looks up to jisung almost as much as woojin and chan
lee felix
the ace! right side hitter!
he’s still somewhat of a beginner but he has a natural talent for volleyball
when he first joined the team everyone was like “are you sure you’ve never played before?”
he’s so energetic when playing and sooo loud
he treated everyone like family from the beginning
gets really annoying when a game’s about to start because of all the anxiousness
his neighbor is coincidentally changbin so they walk to school and walk from school together
his favorite thing isn’t winning but it’s seeing all the special moves the other teams have so he can learn them and eventually use them against other teams
kim seungmin
setter
i feel like seungmin just goes with the flow and is really chiil when playing volleyball
the team really has to push him to be aggressive
when he finally comes around and wants to beat the other team he’s such a good player
he adapts to the opposite team’s playing strategy really quickly and uses this to his advantage by throwing off the other team
he’s somewhat lonely (being the team’s only setter) but jisung helps him a lot during practice
he gets really happy when he wins a point (setter dump) and the team’s so happy for him
he also adapts to his team’s players really well so everything flows smoothly on the court
yang jeongin
he’s played different positions before so his position changes depending on who they need where
but mainly he’s a back row player (switches out with libero)
he’s played since he was little so it’s weird being the youngest on the team and older players asking him for help
he hates when people other than him mess with his team
he transferred schools quite often so he knows and played for a lot of the teams they play against
one time he forgot what team he was playing for and went on the opposing team’s court
although he misses playing for other teams he wouldn’t want to go back because he’s learned so much from this team

“Mr. and Mr. Refreshing”
Part of the HQ rarepair bang put on by @hqrarepairbang !
I had the pleasure of working with @starlity! their art is super duper cute and fits the story so well here it is!
If you want to read it on ao3, you can find it here !
Fandom: Haikyuu
Paring: Nishinoya x Sugawara
Rating: general audiences
Warnings: There a teensy bit of swearing I think? And a couple kisses :]
Length: 5.8k
Notes: Suga is in college and Noya is a senior is highschool, but they were dating in highschool dw
Summary: Finally given a day off from college and volleyball, Sugawara takes the much-needed chance to tidy up his dorm. The problem is, it was also the perfect chance to talk to Nishinoya, his boyfriend. Their schedules rarely matched up, but Suga really wanted to clean up his living space. Unfortunately, cleaning takes a while when you're reminded of your high school days with everything you pick up.
“Okay babe, I’ll be sure to call you once I’m done,” The silver-haired man said, phone pressed to his ear with his shoulder as he pushed his bedroom door open. He set down the bin he brought in on his bed, sighing with relief as the weight of the cleaning supplies he brought was out of his arms. The guy on the other end of the phone made a joke, instantly making Sugawara laugh. “Ah, no. It’ll only take an hour, I swear.” He looked over his mess of a dorm again and frowned. “Maybe two.”
Sugawara sat on his bed next to the cleaning supplies. “Alright babe, I will. It won’t be that long I promise! I love you too, okay? I’ll call you later. Bye, Noya.” He smiled softly, wishing that he didn’t have to spend the afternoon away from his boyfriend. It always was a struggle trying to hang up with him, and usually he didn’t mind staying on the phone for extra time. He really did need to clean his dorm, though- it was beyond a mess. College had begun to blind him from the state of the room, since whenever he was in there he was too focused on his studies or sleeping. It didn’t help that he didn’t have many reasons to clean it anyways, since he didn’t throw parties there or have friends over much. So over time things piled up and he never got around to tidying, which is why he was devoting this Sunday to it.
In Koushi’s opinion, cleaning wasn’t hard- or at least, picking things up was easy enough. No, it wasn’t the picking things up part that was hard, it was putting them away. Whenever you pick up one thing, it brings an onslaught of memories and emotions that make it impossible to part with the thing. So you set it aside and tell yourself that you’ll find a home for it later. This process continues until you have nothing left to pick up and have an infinite amount of piles. At that point you realize you’re exactly where you started. Sugawara was no stranger to this process.
He figured it would be easiest to start with the obvious waste: cans of soda, various wrappers, papers from his classes he finished with long ago (the papers, not the classes), unfinished food that his roommate probably left; the typical garbage. It was thrown away in no time, which only ended up making his dorm look a little better.
Suga looked at his phone which was resting on his bed, almost buried in his blankets. Noya’s probably missing him right now, hoping for him to finish early and call him. It was rare for both of them to not have classes, but for neither of them to have volleyball either? The opportunity was golden, and Suga felt bad that he had to deny his boyfriend his time. A flash of inspiration went off in his head and gave him an idea: the faster he cleaned, the quicker he could call Nishinoya.
With newfound motivation, Sugawara brushed his bangs out of his eyes and got to work.
The next step for him was sorting through the clothes he had on the floor. Not all of it was necessarily too dirty to wear, and some of it might even be his roommate's, so it seemed like an obvious choice. Besides, who could get sentimental about a shirt? Most of his were plain white anyways.
His theory proved to be true as he threw the clothing into piles- piles made everything easier in the end, and what he needs most is efficiency- most of the items he picked up belonged to his roommate, and what was his appeared to be fine. Some of the shirts he used for practice could use a wash, but some of them were still folded, perfectly fine save for a bit of dust. There was just one last t-shirt, stashed under the dorm bed. He grabbed it, and-
As soon as he saw the kanji, he remembered where it was from.
-one year earlier, mid-june-
“What do you mean you don’t like it? I think they're- oh, Suga-san!” As soon as Sugawara walked into the club room, Nishinoya’s attention turned away from the scowling Tsukkishima and onto him. Almost all of the team was in the room aside from the third years, who had just gotten out of a meeting about their final year at school. Nishinoya was rummaging through a large cardboard box, sifting through what looked like white cloths until he found the right one.
“What’s in there?” Just after Suga asked, Nishinoya jumped over the usual clutter of the club room, landing in front of Suga. He unraveled the cloth to show that it was actually a t-shirt, white save for the phrase ‘live like a beast’ written on it in a wild font.
“My favorite t-shirt store was having a sale, so I got them for the whole team!” He threw the shirt into Suga’s arms, grinning with excitement. “Aren’t I the best?”
Suga looked at the rest of the team, who also held similar shirts. They all seemed to have different phrases though, judging by the few who were actually wearing them. The shirt itself was kind of weird, but it was a nice enough gesture, so Suga put on a smile. “Thank you, Noya.”
The boy didn’t move, resting his hands on his hips, his face painted with his typical smirk. Eventually, he said, “Aren’t you gonna put it on? I’d love to see one of my seniors wearing my gift for them!”
Oh, right. How could Suga have been so rude? He slipped the shirt over his arms and head, surprised at how comfortable it was.
“Perfect!” Nishinoya yelled. “Y’know, you look kind of ruggedly handsome in that, Suga-senpai. All the guys’ll look up to you as a cool, wild, handsome guy.” He put his hand on Suga’s shoulder in assurance. Suga couldn’t help but blush at the compliment, feeling his ears redden. He didn’t usually get called handsome, especially not by his teammates, so it was different than usual to hear it from Noya like that.
“Ah, well thank you Noya.” He bashfully replied. Noya said something back and smiled, but Sugawara couldn’t hear it. He was too busy fixated on his rapidly beating heart and reddened ears to notice anything else.
That was when he realized he might have feelings for his underclassman.
-one week later, late-june-
It was a hot summer practice, and everyone was protesting while Daichi explained that while all the running may be painful now, it would pay off later when they stood on the court as a winner. Suga chuckled, watching the underclassmen groan at Daichi’s argument. These kinds of grueling summer practices were normal for the team, and although he didn’t want to run again either, he knew better than to defy the team captain.
“Let’s just get it over with.” Tsukkishima commented sharply, wiping sweat off his forehead.
Daichi beamed. “Exactly! So, Tsukkishima, would you like to be the first to start up the hill?”
“Thanks, but that won’t be happening.” The blond scoffed. He looked around at the team and crossed his arms. “Hey, aren’t we missing a shortie?”
That question annoyed Hinata, who jumped and yelled, “I’m right here! Jeez, can’t you see me?”  His jumping made it almost impossible not to see him, even Tsukkishima grumbling something along the lines of ‘I wasn’t talking about you’ in response.
“No, he’s right.” Asahi trembled, sounding almost zombie-like with his dead tone. Everyone looked at him, shocked to see his face was just as morbid as he sounded. He returned to normal after seeing everyone’s terrified faces. “Ah, sorry! I meant to say.. Nishanoya’s missing.”
Suga looked around. Nishinoya always went to practice, so he was sure he would be there- but there was no sight of him within the team. It seemed like everyone had the same thought as him and looked around at the same time, trying to spot the energetic libero.
Coincidentally, it was at that moment that the gym door slammed open, revealing Nishinoya who sprinted to catch up with the group. He was sweaty from running yet his smile shone as bright as ever. When he reached the team, Suga realized why he was late.
“Haha, sorry for showing up late, everyone! The t-shirt printing place was really backed up by some tennis team, but I got out of there as fast as I could!” He gestured to the shirt he was wearing, one identical to the one Suga received no less than a week before. “I wanted to look handsome like Koushi-kun so I got a t-shirt that matches his! Aren’t I handsome now?” The way he said the words so casually as if he didn’t set Suga’s heart on fire- Suga couldn’t help but blush.
Hinata was the one to respond first. “Ah, you look so cool, Noya-senpai!”
“Thanks!” Noya beamed, doing different poses to further show off the shirt. Suga could only smile, his head too full of thoughts to let him do anything else. He had so many questions. Did he make his attraction too obvious? Was Nishinoya just making fun of him? … Or could he feel the same?
Before long, Daichi interrupted. “I’m glad to see you here, Noya. But since you’re late, you’ll have to do three extra laps up the hill. Everyone, let’s go!”
The team proceeded to groan in anguish.
-present-
As the memories came back, Suga found himself wanting to answer his past self’s questions. He knew how long he spent wondering if he was crazy for thinking that Nishinoya had similar feelings, and he wished he could’ve known sooner. Still, he looked back on those summer days with a smile. There was something though about the flutters he got in his heart every time he thought about Nishinoya that he wouldn’t give up. Thinking about his boyfriend reminded him of his goal- to actually clean his room.
There was a pile of miscellaneous items stacked on a chair by Koushi’s bed, which began to feel out of place the more he cleaned, making it the perfect target. As he moved the many things off the chair, he found things he forgot he even had. Letters from his parents, vouchers that expired months ago, even a book he borrowed from the library when he first started at his school.
Before he could finish removing everything from the pile, Suga heard a chime from his phone. Normally he wasn’t the type to instantly check notifications, especially when he was in the middle of an important task, but something in him made him get up off the floor and search through his sheets for his phone. When he found it and entered in his passcode, he saw that the text was from none other than his boyfriend himself. He didn’t hesitate to open the message.
From: 💕Noya💕
Hey r u almost done?? I miss you already 😝
Oops wrong emoji 😩
^ thats me missin u btw
Suga smiled. Of course he would text already. He couldn’t completely blame Noya though; he wanted to talk to him just as much, if not more. The least he could do was respond.
Ah, so sorry! I’ll be done soon.
Please don’t get too lonely without me 😊
Sent
With the text sent, Suga returned to the chair. It was definitely improved upon, but there was still much work to be done. He started sorting through the objects again, not even noticing the progress he was making until there was only one thing left- a water bottle.
And that water bottle brought him back in time again once he recognized the logo printed on it.
-About one year earlier, late July-
After so much hard work and fine-tuning of skills, the training camp was finally over. Although Suga himself didn’t play much in matches, he still worked hard to train, and just standing on the bench during games made him adrenaline spike. The practices were more grueling than ever, and somehow Suga always worked up a sweat even when he wasn’t training. With all the emotional issues too, the week of the training camp felt like an eternity. He was glad for it to be over.
“Hey Suga-san, wanna come practice with us?” The invitation came from Tanaka, who was standing behind where Suga stood. Suga turned to face him and saw Asahi and Noya standing just behind Tanaka, both looking more energized than usual despite all the matches they played in. Tanaka grinned, probably expecting him to accept the offer.
Even though he was exhausted, something inside Koushi told him to go with them, telling himself that he could work hard to perfect one of his skills- any of them- then he could have a chance to play in the inter-high matches. So he mustered up all his strength and put on a smile. “Of course!”
Tanaka pumped his fist in the air and yelled, “Alright alright!” He quickly put his hands in the edge of his waistband to keep up his delinquent rep, and as stupid as he looked Suga was glad to see him acting normal after everything the week had brought upon them.
“We might want to find a court before they all get taken, just saying.” Suga suggested, looking at the crowd of players leaving the gym as a result of all the team’s finishing their matches. After he said that, he felt a hand on his shoulder- which upon a quick glance he figured out belonged to Nishinoya.
“He’s right you know.” he said. “You all should listen to Suga-san more often!”
If the sensation of Noya’s touch and cute words weren’t already enough to send Koushi’s heart into a crescendo, what Tanaka said next surely was: “Ah, Noya, you listen to him all the time, dontcha?” And just as quickly as he put his hand on Suga’s shoulder, it was gone again, now being used to slap Tanaka’s face. Him and Noya went at each other like restless puppies, grabbing at each other’s collars and pulling each other’s ears. The fight didn’t go on for long though, as Asahi was quick to pull them apart.
“Guys can you stop fighting please? We’d better hurry up like Suga said.”
The two rowdy boys bowed and grumbled their apologies before the four of them went in search of an empty gym. It seemed like they were already too late, but there was one gym at the furthest end of the building that was empty.
“This gym belongs to Karasuno!” Nishinoya and Tanaka yelled in synchronization as they tossed their belongings on the floor. Both Asahi and Suga chuckled at their cheer while setting their own things down.
Suga turned to Asahi. “Are you gonna work on your Ace spike?”
“I want to,” Asahi replied before looking at the second years. “Can we please start now?” Although his request was asked softly, it still managed to hype the second years up even more as they ran over to the third years instantly.
“Ooh ooh, can I do my cool jump-set thing?” Nishinoya beamed. Koushi wanted to see his set up close himself after seeing it used in the matches, which reminded himself that it was a good idea to join the mini-practice.
“You might be better than me soon, Noya.” Suga chuckled, only half-joking although the junior laughed anyways.
“You’re such a jokester! There’s no way I could get better than you at setting even if I practiced for hours on end.”
Cue Suga blushing.
“Hey, let’s get to it already!! I wanna hit!” Tanaka yelled from the other side of the net, clearly itching to spike. Asahi looked at him then turned back to Suga.
“Why don’t we do two groups? One setter and one spiker on each side, then we can switch-” Before the other senior could finish his proposition, Suga burst out in laughter. Both Asahi and Noya looked confused at the sudden outburst while Suga tried to calm himself in order to elaborate.
“Ah, Asahi-san, how bold of you to assume I’m setting. I wanna hit today, too.”
Tanaka grinned at his change of position. “All right! Then let’s get into a line an’ get to it!”
“Alright!”
-one hour later-
As the night began to cool, the four boys ended their training sore and exhausted after so much spiking and setting. Asahi left first, yawning as he walked out of the gym half-asleep. Tanaka followed a few minutes later, saying that he was sick of hitting his spikes so perfectly, which left Suga and Noya on their own. Ulike normal, Noya was in a sour mood, sulking as he picked up the volleyballs that littered the court. Suga tried to start a conversation to cheer him up.
“Your sets were really cool today, Noya. I meant it when I said-”
“I’m sorry about what Tanaka said earlier.” Nishinoya bluntly stated.
Suga tried to think back to figure out what he meant. Nothing came to mind. “What did he say? Are you alright?”
“Oh so you forgot already. Don’t worry, I’m totally fine.” He laughed in relief. Suga didn’t buy it though, since Noya never acted that way.
“If you need to talk to me, you can, y’know.”
Nishinoya stood in thought for a minute, and Suga swore he had never seen the libero so still before. It was almost like he was too busy thinking to do anything else. Suga didn’t have time to truly take in his peaceful form before Noya snapped out of his trance and took ahold of Suga’s wrist. He brought the confused setter into the mini storage closet located in the back of the gym, clearing his throat once they were both in the closet.
“Suga- no, Koushi- I’m sorry I’ve been acting weird these past couple weeks.. It’s just hard keeping a secret, y’know?” Nishinoya had a whole different tone to him than he did before, vulnerable as he spoke of his secret. Suga couldn’t do anything but listen. Noya continued. “I know it’s gonna come outta nowhere, but I really want to tell you.”
Koushi’s heart was racing, and he was glad the closet was dark enough to mask his blush. Something about the intimate situation set his heart on fire. “You can tell me.” He whispered.
“I..” He stepped closer to Koushi. “I really like you. More than I like volleyball, or our school’s uniform, or even more than soda-flavored popsicles. That’s how you know I’m serious.” His giggle at the end made Koushi realize that this was what he had wanted for weeks, and for the first time since Noya grabbed his arm he knew exactly how to respond.
“That’s how I feel too. All this time I thought I was crazy for thinking that you might feel the same, but… I’m glad.” He smiled and exhaled, feeling all his doubt melt off his shoulders.
Noya took Koushi’s hand in his own. “Can I..?”
“What? Kiss me?”
“Yeah.”
“Of course.”
And in that moment, when their lips met, Koushi felt truly happy. All his insecurities about his attraction, or the fact that he was graduating soon left his mind completely, now his only thoughts were of how electrifying it felt to finally be able to kiss Nishinoya Yuu. However, as Shakespeare said, ‘parting is such sweet sorrow’ and the same was true as Noya pulled away silently.
“Does this mean we’re..” Suga started to ask.
“I don’t- I dunno. But I really gotta go, Ryu’ll be worried if I stay too long.”
And just like that, with Nishinoya dashing out of the closet, the best moments of Suga’s life ended. He stood in the dark for a moment, lingering in the shock-like feeling that resided in his core. He so badly wanted to chase after his junior, to kiss him again, to hear him say that he loved him while the feeling was still fresh in his mind, but he didn’t move until he couldn’t hear Noya’s footsteps anymore.
He decided to leave soon after. He picked up the last of his things and prepared to turn off the gym lights when he saw a neon orange water bottle sitting by the wall. He didn’t want to leave it there, since that would be littering, so he went over to pick it up. The bottle was mostly-empty, but the water inside was still cool so he quickly figured out it was Noya’s. He put the bottle in his bag and left for the room where the team was sleeping.
-present-
As he held the bottle in his hand and he remembered that night, he too remembered the next day when he tried to return the bottle, but Nishinoya refused and let him keep it. He never used it, but still took it with him to college thinking he might get use out of it there. Guess it never saw anything but this chair, huh? He thought, putting the bottle down to continue with his task.
Putting away all the things from the chair pile was a breeze. Most of it was either garbage or recyclable anyways, and the rest was relocated immediately. He looked at his side of the dorm with pride since everything one would see upon entering was organized. The last thing he wanted to do was organize his bedside table drawers. He never really looked in them, just threw stuff in or went through it if he was looking for something. But since he already had the time to go through it, he thought he might as well take the opportunity to clean that as well.
When he opened the drawer he was instantly reminded of all the junk he stashed in there. Pencils, old batteries, sticky notes he wrote to himself but forgot to throw away, he couldn’t even see all of it. This drawer was the last thing keeping him from his lover though, so he was determined to finish the task. The pencils went in the stationary cup he kept on his desk, the batteries and sticky notes thrown out, there were only a few things left that he could see. He tried to pull the drawer out more but there was something stopping him- something was stuck.
One tug of the stuck item was enough to knock it out of place and into Koushi’s hand. Before he even saw it he had a feeling he recognized the silicone, and when he pulled his hand out of the drawer his guess was confirmed. It was the bracelet from his first date.
-months earlier, mid-August-
“Next please.” The woman working the ticket booth said as the previous park-goers
entered through the gates. Nishinoya nudged Suga then they stepped up to the booth.
“Ah, sorry. Two one-day passes please.” Suga said, bowing for not realizing it was their turn.
The lady looked at the two of them briefly. “One adult pass and one child pass then?” And before Nishinoya could unleash his rage, Suga quickly stepped in.
“No, ma’am. Two adult passes.”
“Alright sir, sorry for the mistake. Two adult passes.. that’ll be 16 thousand yen.” The woman put the numbers into her computer as she waited for the money. Suga passed the appropriate amount to her, then she printed the receipt and in return gave the two boys a silicone bracelet that validated their passes. Once they had their bracelets on, they went through the gates and into the park.
“I’m so excited, I’ve never been here before!” Nishinoya raved once they were past the gates. “This is one hell of a first date, huh?”
“Haha, it sure is.” Suag replied, wiping the sweat from his brow. The late summer heat beamed onto everything, already making Sugawara fatigued- although he couldn’t tell if his hands turning clammy was because of the heat or because his nerves felt like they were exploding. He took the map out of his shorts pocket and looked at it. “What should we do first?”
“This place is known for that ride called ‘Poseidon's Revenge’ right? Let’s go on that!” Noya stood beside Suga as he looked over the map. Suga saw ‘Poseidon's Revenge’ and just from the little picture on the map he could tell it was right up Noya’s alley. However, he wasn’t sure if that was the first thing he wanted to experience at the park.
“Are you sure? Shouldn’t we work our way up to the more scary ones?”
Nishinoya laughed, making Suga’s heart flutter. “It’ll be fine! Ryu told me all about it, and he said we should go on it together.”
“Well, if Tanaka says we should, then what are we waiting for?”
“Exactly! C’mon!”
And just like that, Nishinoya started running in the direction of the ride, leaving Suga to chase after him.
-roughly an hour later-
After endless minutes of waiting in line, Suga and Noya were finally strapped into the ride and were preparing to take off. Even more than when he first saw the ride, Suga’s nerves were skyrocketing. He was never a fan of fast rides, especially not ones of such high speed and height as the one he was currently on. His boyfriend could sense that he was nervous, and held his hand to try and soothe him.
“Hey,” he shouted although the ride was so loud he wasn’t sure if Suga could hear him,” this’ll be fun okay? And after it’s over we can kiss with our adrenaline surging. I won’t let go, just letting you know!”
Just half a moment after he finished his speech the ride jetted into action, sending the pair (as well as everyone else on the ride) zooming through the course at a speed barely imaginable. As the ride dipped swiftly near the ground, both boys could hear screaming, though neither could tell which one of them it came from. Several loops left both of them feeling weightless, and it was over just as soon as it started. The ride came to a stop, and just as Nishinoya predicted, Suga felt his adrenaline reaching a peak.
When the restraints lifted and freed the couple, Nishinoya instantly jumped out of the ride, the stars in his eyes shining with excitement. Suga followed, but when he stepped onto the platform his knees buckled and he collapsed. Noya let out a hand when he noticed, but before Suga could fully get back to his feet he snuck a brief kiss onto his lips.
“That was awesome, right?” Noya asked once Suga regained his senses.
“What, that kiss or the ride?” Suga joked in response, styling his hair with his fingers. “Because both were good.”
They went back to the ground, still buzzing from the ride. Nishinoya took the map and looked it over a second time. “So now what’re we going on?”
-a few hours later-
As the day turned into evening and the sun started to set, Suga was exhausted. The day was packed with dozens of rides, games and treats from every food stand within the park and so much walking that he didn’t think he would ever need to run laps before practice again. He wasn’t the only one who was tired, as Nishinoya also had less energy than normal. There was an announcement a few minutes before saying the park would be closing soon, but the couple wanted to spend every last minute of their first date together. They were sitting on a bench by the park entrance, with their arms wrapped around the other’s shoulder.
“What was your favorite part of today?” Suga asked, taking a bit of the ice cream he had in his free hand.
“I can’t choose.” Nishinoya replied somewhat sleepily. He was resting his head on Suga’s shoulder, his eyes fluttering closed every so often.
Suga chuckled. “Me either. Honestly, I just liked spending time with you.”
“Aww, quit being sentimental!”
“How could I? I love you too much.”
“Koushi!”
“Yes?”
“I love you too.”
-present-
While the memory might have been cloudy before, he recalled that day in perfect vividness as he held the bracelet in his hand. He thought it was funny, how just a small ring of silicone could contain such wonderful memories. He pulled the bracelet over his hand and smiled. Just thinking about the wonderful moments he got to spend with Nishinoya made his heart beat faster. He couldn’t wait to talk to him again.
Wait, he realized, I can talk to him now. The dorm’s all clean!
He leapt onto his best and scrambled for his phone with the speed of a lovestruck idiot, almost shouting for joy when he found it. No sooner did he turn it on to find that Noya had messaged him more after he last texted back.

When Suga opened the file, the last thing he expected to see was the selfie he hardly remembered taking. Seeing himself and the other third years in their graduation outfits almost brought tears to his eyes, and he looked like he was about to cry in the photo as well. Despite the abundance of misty-eyed seniors in the picture, Noya still smiled pridefully at the bottom, part of his chin cut off since he wanted to fit the third years in fully. Everything about the photo made his heart ache, remembering his last day at Karasuno.
- a few months earlier, late-march-
The third years left the ceremony with more emotions than they could ever name, a mixture of relief, sadness, stress and joy filling their thoughts. Of course, they were all proud of their achievements in high school but they never could’ve prepared for the bittersweet day that graduation was. Even Kiyoko matched the mood in the air between them. They all wanted to cry, but held it in as they joined their teammates for one last group goodbye.
Many of their teammates were failing to hold back their emotions, especially the second years who had known them the longest. Suga wanted to laugh as Tanaka contorted his face to pretend he wasn’t crying. The first years, too, were emotional- Hinata for example was sobbing and wiping the snot from his nose with his sleeve.
“I’m gonna miss you guys so much!” Hinata bawled when the third years reached the group.
Suga chuckled at his level of emotion. “You’ll see us again. We’ll come to practices to make sure you guys are all behaving and stuff, right Daichi?”
“Of course!” Daichi yelled in response. He was the closest of all of them to breaking down, and seeing his underclassmen so choked up didn’t make it any easier.
“Who knows, I might accidentally show up ready to run laps next week.” Asahi admitted.
“We’ll make sure to make you proud, senpais.” Kageyama promised, a light in his eyes that was rare to see outside of matches. Suga smiled, knowing even Kageyama was going to miss them.
“Hey, can I take a picture with you four?” Nishinoya asked cheerfully, holding up a polaroid-style camera. Somehow, despite his tendency to be over-emotional at any given time, he was perfectly held together now. None of the third years could deny him, and got together as they had for photos for parents before.
“Please don’t make me look too tall.” Asahi pleaded as Nishinoya set his camera up.
“Don’t worry Asahi-san, it’ll turn out great! Now come on, everyone smile!”
Maybe it was Nishinoya’s enthusiasm, maybe it was their feelings catching up with them, maybe it was smiling in front of the team for the last time as highschoolers, but the second the camera flashed the four third years finally released their tears. Something just felt so right about spending their last moments at Karasuno with the team they loved that they couldn’t help but tear up. Seeing the third years start to cry made the rest of the team follow.
- a couple hours later-
“I’ll text you every single day, I promise.”
“Yuu-chan, that’s a little unnecessary..”
“Oh, is Yuu-chan my new nickname? I love it!”
“Sorry, just a slip of the tongue. I can call you that if you want though.”
“I don’t care what you call me, as long as you don’t forget me once you get to college.”
“I won’t forget you, Noya.”
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
After the graduation ceremony, Noya took the chance to walk Suga home, wanting to say goodbye on his own. It was mostly quiet between them, with only occasional conversations. They both had so much they wanted to say, but didn’t know what else to say but make promises.
Soon enough they were standing outside of Suga’s house.
“It looks like we’re here.” Suga stated, staring at the house that he couldn’t bear to enter. He knew that once he walked into his home, his high school life would be officially over. At least he had his boyfriend by his side to ease the sentimentality he felt.
“Yeah.” Nishinoya replied. “Kiss before you go?”
“Of course” Suga laughed. Then, as requested, he bent down to pull Noya into a kiss. This kiss was different than any they had before, as if they were telling each other all their feelings without any words. Not much later, Suga pulled away to go home, he felt like his life was complete. It was a perfect goodbye.
-present-
It was hard not to tear up after seeing the photo again. Even though in reality it was only a couple months ago for him, it still felt like an eternity since that night when Nishinoya walked him home. He wished that he could go back to those moments and spend one more day as a highschooler, one who didn’t have to schedule when he could talk to his boyfriend. Then he realized that he had the perfect opportunity to call him now, and he had better call him soon while there was still light in the day.
When he pressed the call button, he hoped he wouldn’t have to wait long for Noya to pick up, since he didn’t want to spend any more time waiting if he didn’t have to. Luckily, he didn’t have to wait long.
“Finally! You have no idea how awful it’s been waiting allll day to talk to you.”
“You too, Yuu-chan. I saw that picture you sent me by the way. It was nice going back to that moment- although I’ve a lot of that today..”
“Really? Tell me all about it, and everything else that’s happened to you since we last called. Oh, and you wouldn’t believe what’s been going on at Karasuno these days!”
“I’m so glad we finally get to do this.”

#6: a little jiggle won't hurt, right? (it will)
Some days ago, my sisters and I decided to take some time away from studying to watch anime. Particularly, we watched Hunter X Hunter, which my sister Abby started watching by herself, then our oldest sister started watching from the sidelines, and I ended up watching it because Abby watched it on the TV one day and I got pulled in. This anime’s genre is shōnen; aimed for teenage boys as its viewers and is usually a story of adventure. Coincidentally (but not really), it’s Abby’s favorite genre. Many popular anime are of this genre: Naruto, My Hero Academia, One Piece, Haikyuu, you name it–it’s probably a shōnen anime. Out of the three of us, it’s probably Abby that watches anime the most, not only because she’s pulled us into watching whatever current series she’s watching, but also because Ate and I are picky.
And I don’t mean that as a compliment for us, nor is it an insinuation that Abby doesn’t have standards to reach before starting a show. I told them once: “Sa ating lahat, si Abby siguro pinaka-adventurous, no?”, no one objected. Although, if I do think about it now, it’s because the genre we like is seinen (aimed towards older men audiences), which is animated significantly less than shōnen. However, that’s probably not the reason why we are picky, and why Abby seems to venture into anime the most, out of the three of us.
There was a scene in Hunter X Hunter: a woman was arguing with Killua, the show’s deuteragonist. They volley back and forth with quips, then suddenly, she huffs and crosses her arms across her chest, her breasts proceeding to bounce everytime she finishes her sentences. Physics, am I right? Yet, instead of being horrified, Ate exasperatedly points out what everybody was thinking, “Oh, come on!”
Our reaction is a far cry from the appropriate response. Who wouldn’t be horrified when a woman’s body is exaggerated to do… what exactly? For what? And for whom? But our reaction isn’t uncommon among avid anime watchers, because scenes such as these are common already. In another anime– Food Wars! Shokugeki no Sama– women are shown in suggestive, nearly nude poses whenever they eat good food. While it’s genre of Ecchi (a genre of playful sexual imagery) is problematic on its own and anime is usually presented exaggeratedly, it’s these types of elements that makes it uncomfortable for women to watch anime in the first place.
Tumblr media
(Ikumi Mito of Food Wars, um, are you for real?!)
My eldest sister watched a video essay on this topic, and a detail stuck a chord within her. In the video, the YouTuber said that whenever a new anime pops up, even if it looks interesting and promising, or perhaps it is highly-acclaimed and well-loved by fans, she often waits for other women that she trusts to watch it before her. That way, if she does not recommend it, it means she will not have wasted time watching an anime that panders to the male gaze, and alienates the women who watch the show.
That is exactly what we do. Our sister, Abby, is likely to take the fall, is likely to see situations of over-sexualized, weakened, plot device women. She gets to choose whether she recommends it to us or not. Thinking back on it, it’s nearly impossible to see a show that represents women decently at least, but Abby recommends some pretty bomb shows. So many shows have been dropped for the sole reason that the depiction of women in anime strikes too close to the large power imbalance in the patriarchal system we have today, and because these portrayals of women in the masculine point of view is one that we do not believe in.

Life Lessons from Sports Anime #selfthought
Tumblr media
Watching animes is my newly established hobby. I wasn’t into animes at first, though I have a bit of knowledge at the very least. At first, anime was just a source of my entertainment. But now, it became the source of my studies. If you’re wondering why, that’s because I’m majoring in Japanese Literature in college.
My first anime? Ouran High School Host Club. I just loved the romance and comedic bits. Although it’s slightly cringey, it was a good ol’ classic. Since then, I started to explore deeper into the anime universe. I stumbled upon a few titles that caught my attention. Coincidentally, all of these titles has the same genre. Sports, Shounen, School Life… To sum up, Boys Youth.
These youthful animes gave a huge impact for me to the point that I could refer it as ‘Life Lesson’. I got to experience a whole new definition of friendship, rivalry, and determination. With those three components being the ultimate secret ingredients for every shounen, especially sports anime, I doubt anyone wouldn’t get a lesson from it. Quoting from a seiyuu, Suzumura Kenichi, when he was attending an event for a sports anime he’s playing in :
“I definitely think that Sports Anime is a way of character-development.”
I couldn’t agree more on that.
Why so?
I’ve knew quite a number of sports anime. But I came to dedicate myself to three of them. All of them taught me a lot of lessons in life through their words and actions. Some of the dialogues between the characters have a deep meaning if you dig more into it and process it in a positive way. Here are two of my favorite quotes.
‘The one who can beat me, is me.’ Aomine Daiki, Kuroko’s Basketball.
'With me doing my absolute best and you doing your absolute best, that’s how we will beat Seijou.’ - Sugawara Koushi, Haikyuu!!
The first quote might sound a bit cocky. Judging by the character himself, he was known to be quite a show-off. Well, that is, after what happened in the past because he was just too good of a player. In the beginning, I had the same thought with that saying being too self-centered and arrogant. But then I realized that the saying was actually relatable if we apply it in our daily life.
Aomine’s sayings expresses his determination to push off his limits. And when he pushed a step ahead, he keeps pushing. In daily life, it would be best to say that his words are referring to us to beat our own ego. Simple things like 'I’m going to wake up at 5 a.m tomorrow and get productive!’ are nice examples on the application of Aomine’s words. Pushing yourself through your own limits, means you’ve beaten the old you and became brand new.
Aomine’s words made an impact on me to be more discipline in life. On the contrary, if Aomine’s words gave me an impact of discipline, then Sugawara’s words made me realize about how important it is to know about our limits and sharing our burden with a fellow friend to achieve something in common.
'With me doing my absolute best…’ It means, if I can do whatever I can do with all my might.
'And you doing your absolute best’ It means, and you doing whatever you can do with all your might.
'That’s how we’ll beat Seijou.’ That’s how we’ll make these things work out.
We are faced with several hardships and struggles sometimes. Whether it’s about school, personal life, family issues, etc. In those times, one of the options is to have someone to talk about it. We have our limits in holding in what we really want to speak up about. And that is when a presence of a special someone will be the most heroic moment on the victim’s life. Talking and sharing burdens are a way to build up trust towards each other. And when the burden is shared, each party will find a way to work it out.
Sugawara, being one of my favorite characters, is one of the most impactful character on me. His bitterness when he wasn’t picked as the starting setter may gave him the thought of jealousy. But he chose to not let his ego get him and just go with the flow of the team. And eventually, he got the chance to show his true ability on the court.
So many life lessons that I learned from sports anime. This was just 2 among 100. :) To me…
Sports anime is definitely a way of character development.

My 10 Fave Babes of All Time
Tagged by @faecakes. Thanks! (I loved your selection btw~).
I think I did this one a while ago but I took the chance to make this my first drawings of the year :pp to start warming up again ww. These are in no particular order.
1. Horokeu Usui (HoroHoro) / Shaman King.
Horo was probably my first masive 2D crush. I obsessed over him like a psycho lol. I learned every single little thing about him (and I mean trivial stuff like... the exact numbre of frame, page and volume for his first appearance xd), the meaning of his name, the name of his techniques (which were in Ainu). Oh, and also, SEIYUUS! Horo started my obsession with making seiyuu connections x) (I was never really fan of Ueda Yuuji, tho). And I really admired Horo... I felt he was like my soulmate, my perfect husbando. So, based on priority right, he should be like my #1 bae :')

2. Hinata Hideki / Angel Beats!  &  Kuga Aki  / Kamisama Dolls.
I'm putting them together because they're both special characters to me for the same reason: I knew Kimura Ryouhei because of them, and I loved him from the very beginning. Coincidentally, I started watching Angel Beats and Kamisama Dolls at the same time, and the contrast between these two characters, voiced by the same seiyuu, made me fall in love completely. They're both so different. Hinata is a bright, loyal, energetic boy while Aki is this manipulative, rude, meticulous, violent guy (though he's also super calm and indifferent about certain things). Hinata had me loving his voice changes whenever he was put into ridiculous and funny situations while Aki got me melting becasue of his manic laugh. I love Hinata & Aki both as characters, not just because of Kimura, but they're the perfect examples of why KimuRyou is my fav seiyuu <3 <3

3. Kise Ryouta / Kuroko no Basket.
Oh boy..... my love for this man burns like a thousand suns bursting, ISTG. He's too pure too good to pretty too shiny too precious for this world. Ok, I admit... Kimura Ryouhei is partly at fault here lol. Kise actually reminded me a lot of Hinata and I liked him from the start too, but soon I started loving every single little thing about him. He's introduced a little as an arrogant dude but soon enough comes to change after his loss against Seirin (I loved it when he cried sddsffg). He's like the cheerful, carefree member of the group, but he also shows so much determination, strength, and even selfishness. But I really think he's the most admirable of the Generation of Miracles. And he's so pretty I wanna cry everytime I see him, sob.

4. Judal / Magi.
Yes, the Kimura Ryouhei syndrome continues... but I swear it's coincidence(?). Judal caught my eye since I saw him in the opening (that sequence when he's falling, grabs a white rukh and turns it black it's mesmerizing), but when he was finally introduced in the show, I WAS DOOMED FOREVER. Goddamn, I loved his personality. Even if he's a little bit of a psycho, I loved his childish arrogant attitude. He's like my twisted son ♥ Except... not really a son, because... he makes me feel things 6//6 (???). Aahaahgsdjhk yes yes ok, I love his design, really, L O V E   I T ♥ ♥.  His long braid, those beautiful ringed eyes, the makeup on them, the necklace and bracelets, that crop top, those abs, DAT WAISTLINE  aksjdhjkashdkjhgasgasd ⁄(⁄ ⁄ ⁄ Д ⁄ ⁄ ⁄)⁄ He needs his own manga, there's just never enough Judal in my life.

5. Nozaki Umetarou / Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.
I've said this before, but it me. Nozaki is me, I am Nozaki (except I'm not tall and handsome lol). Looks cold, mostly serious, suuupr dense in some subjects (specially about love and romance), zero experience in love... but somehow still makes love stories! His shoujo manga is terrible haha but he's surprisingly popular as mangaka in spite of that x) I bet if I were to draw a manga it would be as ridiculous as his (or if my comics serve as an example... well, there ww). He has this stoic aspect, but he makes the most idiotic faces when he gets excited too~  I think Nozaki is more socially skilled than me but we're both awkward anymway(?) xD. He's my spirit animal ♥
Tumblr media
6. Netherlands & Finland / Hetalia.
Ah, my time in the Hetalia fandom... feels so distant :') Italy was my fav at first but then I started roleplaying Fin (the first chara I ever roleplayed) and my love for him kept growing from there. He was just too adorbs <3 I got to know a lot of super nice people, both on the internet and irl, because of him. Also, back then I listened to lot of metal music, and I always pictured Fin as a secret metalhead xD And then Netherlands... I don't remember exactly how I started liking him, I remember they released the chara design, stuff happened, and then there I was cosplaying the dude. Hahaha ah, even though I loved Fin, I couldn't identify with him cause he's super cute,  happy and lovable; but Netherlands was more like me~ Stoic, cold, tsundere. Over time, Netherlands became my favorite over Fin, but they're both special.

7. Furukawa Nagisa / CLANNAD.
My precious child. The purest girl ever created. A National treasure, istg. She's not the type of female characters that I usually like, but somehow she got me from the start. She's too adorable, sweet, innocent and good. She's just too good!!!!!!! She's always caring for others, always supportive of her friends, and tries her best even though she's phisically weak and lacks confidence. She's so strong and admirable, she makes my heart melt. CLANNAD made me cry rivers and hit me hard when... well, when After Story happened. She's the type of character that I want to protect from all evil. I also LOVED Nakahara Mai's performance as Nagisa, btw. I kept watching her scenes over and over just to listen to the cutest voice akjshd <3 I really love this child ;//;
Tumblr media
8. Licht Jekylland Todoroki & Lawless / Servamp.
Well, as you would expect x) It's probably obvious that I love them both so hard. And I want to clear up for the records that it's not just because I love them together, or the homo hints flying all over the place between them. I love them both as separated characters. I really admire Licht. His resolution, his unbreakable spirit, his attitude, the hard worker he is, his strength, his pure innocence about the things he loves, his vision, his badassness, his frankness, his creativity...  He's a gem, the type of person I could never be :')  ALSO, HE'S HOT AF. Lawless is so beautiful. He deserves the universe. I feel him more in a spirital way. How he lost faith in everything, how meaningless lives seemed to him, the vicious cycle he was in. But the fact he's able to change that (with Licht's help) is truly touching and praiseworthy. He made a deep impression in me. Ah, and of course, his flamboyant personality! He's such a dork ahah xD I love his nerdy side, his energy, even his bragging. And the fact that he can literally go from hotdamn vampire to cute hedgy in no time is amazing xD ♥ Also, his voice.... yeah, you know this by this point, but the fact he's voiced by Kimura Ryouhei makes him even more perfect than he already was (everytime I listen to the Drama CDs, I literally have to go back and listen to his lines again because kjahsdjkg perfection in my ears). So yeah, I love my boys ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Tumblr media
9. Morgiana / Magi.
Ah, Morgiana ♥ ♥ The ultimate example of the type of female character that I like. She's strong, kind, determined, tough, has a strong sense of justce, needs no one to do shit for her, BUT she's not arrogant, aggresive or extravagant herself. She's quite, starightforward and helpful. But she's also soooo adorable and cute!! The way she puffs up her cheeks when she's mad, her smile, the little tears on her eyes when he was encouraged by Hakuryuu, her happy face, the way she dances around wearing that exotic outfit... man she is gorgeous, she's amazing, she's a goddess. And dem kicks, THE KIIICCCKKKS, god she's a BADASS. She seriously became like a prototype of my perfect gurl. No kidding, after her, everytime there's a badass fem chara that I like, I call her "a Morgiana". And I know she's probs being "controlled" by Sinbad in the manga right now, but I cried when she said she has come to love herself because of all the time she's been with Alibaba. I'M SO PROUD OF HER <//333
Tumblr media
10. Special mention to: EVERY KIMURA RYOUHEI CHARACTER.
Agh, I just.... it's amazing how without a miss, characters voiced by Kimura always become my favourite. I always love them, for one reason or another. I mean, I have other seiyuus I love too (Kaji Yuki, Nakamura Yuuichi, Ishikawa Kaito, Sugita Tomokazu, Kamiyan....), but I don't always like their characters. But with Kimura, I ALWAYS do. I don't know all of his roles, obviously, but here's some that I absolutely love:
Takakura Shouma [Mawaru Penguindrum]  |  Yagami Riku [Prince of Stride]   Nishimi Kaoru [Sakamichi no Apollon]  |  Atou Touji [Tokyo Ravens]  |  Hauser [Nanatsu no Taizai]  |  Izuminokami Kanesada [Touken Ranbu]  |  Wakamatsu Hirotaka [Nozaki-kun]  |  Fujimoto Takatora [Aoharu Kikanjuu]  |  Kimata Hayato [Meganebu]  |  L-elf [Valvrave]  |  Furuya Chihiro [Sankarea]  |  Bokuto Koutaro [Haikyuu]  |  Shimotsuki Shun [Tsukiuta], etc....
- Special mention 2: Jorah Mormont, Eddard Stark, Jon Snow. Because I love GoT, and these are my favs, but I can't draw real people ww.
I’m tagging @pastenaga, @stars-glow-for-you, @adeslowmoqueen, @rhomilch & @reimeijennoir~ Feel free to do it if you want uvu/ Don’t worry guys, you don’t have to draw the charas to do this www Actually, you don’t have to write anything about them either lol my hand slipped(?)
