Something about this interaction between Harry & Janeway - specifically Janeway but it's notable that Harry's the one listening because I think, say, Chakotay or B'Elanna might push back against the idolization of this 'it was different back in those days' way of thinking.
#Get the Tranq she's 'Good Old Boys'-ing!#never beating the Starfleet stooge accusations#which I think should have been brought up more between her and Chakotay#instead of just making Chakotay like Starfleet again so they can be together#the Tuvok/Chakotay/Janeway command trio should have been like#Janeway: I love Starfleet in an uncomplicated way and though it's painful sometimes I believe following code is the only way to proceed#Tuvok: I agree with the captain and this makes her believe in her decisions more - though I would attempt to obey her commands even if they#weren't regulation.#<- Janeway doesn't want to examine this#Chakotay: I hate Starfleet because of very valid reasons and I don't think following orders and codes from superiors is the best thing#in every situation. I want everyone here to examine their biases which cannot necessarily be done if biases are written into the#codes. We aren't in Starfleet space. We might have to adapt.#but it's nowhere near that nuanced bc you know. Starfleet Good. Starfleet Good. Starfleet Good. Maquis Bad. Maquis Bad. Maquis Bad.#Or you know: 'Maquis doing this the WROOONG way...violence isn't the answer :(' maybe violence is the answer sometimes.#when it's the only language the people in power understand.#maybe 'let's talk about this' is an insidious military tactic sometimes actually#Also Harry immediately going from 'They falsified logs?' to 'I always wondered it'd be like back then...~'#He and Janeway................Him and Janeway are!!! AGH#People think Harry's way too timid. They think this because he's asian and an ensign so they make him timid & obedient#But he's very willing to break or bend the rules - he's willing to fight he likes action and adventure and he's very similar to Janeway#where they'll both die and go to hell and come back just to save their crew - their friends - their family

yow! Here's the Official in-depth look at all the turtles by Nickelodeon themselves.
more descriptions below ;
Leo
Leo is your classic oldest sibling. He’s a little bit bossy, but he firmly believes he has everyone’s best interest at heart! As the oldest, Leo considers himself the leader of the brothers. He loves his family more than anything, and is willing to go to great lengths to protect them. Leo is deeply devoted to Splinter’s teachings, and encourages his brothers to follow all of Splinter’s rules to a T. Leo can be a bit more serious than the rest of his brothers, which sometimes (believe it or not) annoys Raph, Mikey and Donnie. But at the end of the day, he loves to joke around with the crew too - especially if they don’t break any rules in the process!
When Leo meets April O’Neil, things change in a big way. Before meeting April, Leo was content to live in the shadows and stick to the rules that Splinter laid out for him and his brothers, the most important being avoiding humans at all costs. But after meeting April, Leo is willing to bend those rules - especially if it means spending more time with her.
FAST FACTS ABOUT LEO:
Leo (aka Leonardo) is the oldest of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Leo is played by Nicolas Cantu in the Mutant Mayhem movie.
Leo in Love? Pssst, can you keep a secret?! Leo has a HUGE crush on April O’Neil, the Turtles’ human friend! April is voiced by Ayo Edebiri.
Namesake: Leonardo Davinci! Davinci was a true Renaissance man, and a highly skilled painter, inventor, sculptor, and more. He’s best known for painting the world-famous Mona Lisa.
Weapon of Choice: Katanas. Leo is a highly skilled swordsman!
Ninja Turtle Color: Blue. Each of the brothers have a different color mask, so it’s a great way to tell them apart if you get confused!
Most Likely To: be the brother making the plan! Leo is great at strategy and always thinking ten steps ahead.
Describe Leo in three words: Disciplined, Hardworking, and Respectful.
Raph
Meet Raph, aka Raphael! He’s always ready for a fight, and ALWAYS ready to lay it all on the line for his brothers. Raph never shies away from his enemies, and is definitely an act first, think later kinda Turtle. He’s a bit of a hot head - you could say he’s always seeing red (and not just because of his red eye mask!) Generally speaking, Raph is one tough turtle - but he’s got a soft spot in his shell for his beloved bros.
Raph may be the best fighter of the bunch. He’s got some serious ninja skills, but doesn’t have a whole lot of stealth going on. Raph is also a true master of the sai… let’s just say you wouldn’t want to find yourself in a fight with this guy.
FAST FACTS ABOUT RAPH:
Raph (aka Raphael) is the second oldest of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Raph is played by Brady Noon in the Mutant Mayhem movie.
Namesake: Raph is named after Raphael, a 16th-century Italian painter. Kinda weird fun fact? The painter Raphael had serious Renaissance era beef with the painter Michaelangelo, who Raph’s brother Mikey is named after!
Weapon of Choice: Sai, or special Ninja weapons that are like swords you wear as gloves! He’s also in general, a very good fighter (with or without his Sai).
Ninja Turtle Color: Red! Each brother has their own color mask.
Most Likely To: Act first, think later! Raph is known to be a little bit of a hot-head, and often dives headfirst into action without making a plan. This, believe it or not, drives Leo NUTS!
Describe Raph in three words: Passionate, Tough, Protective.
Donnie
Donatello, aka Donnie, is your classic middle child. He may be younger than Leo and Raph, but everyone knows he’s got the smarts. Donnie is brilliant with a super-sharp wit, and can be a bit sarcastic. He’s a true asset to the Turtle team, thanks to his ability to always see a few steps ahead of everyone else. Leo may be the man with the plan, but Donnie is the man pointing out the holes in the plan - whether or not his brothers want to hear them.
Donnie's weapon of choice is a bo staff, which he can twirl and bash around with serious skill. He’s got a razor-sharp ability to analyze his opponents and know what their next move might be - something that comes in handy in the heat of a big battle!
When Donnie isn’t helping his brothers save the day, he likes to unwind with the finer things in life: video games, anime, and of course, K-Pop!
FAST FACTS ABOUT DONNIE
Donnie (aka Donatello) is the second youngest of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That makes Leo and Raph his older brothers, and Mikey the youngest.
Don is voiced by Micah Abbey in the Mutant Mayhem movie.
Namesake: Donnie is named after Donatello, a 15th century Italian sculptor best known for his ability to make his sculptures look insanely realistic! Donatello the sculptor is widely regarded as a genius, which fits Donnie well, since he’s sorta the brains of the brotherly operation.
Weapon of Choice: Bo Staff. You do not want to be stuck battling Donnie when he has a staff, hockey stick, giant pencil, or anything else remotely staff shaped.
Ninja Turtle Color: Purple! It compliments his shell, don’t you think?
Most Likely To: Have a favorite K-pop star.
Describe Donatello in three words: Brilliant, Inventive, Awkward.
Mikey
Mikey, aka Michelangelo, is the youngest and by far the funniest of the four brothers (his words, not ours.) Mikey is kinda the wild card of the bunch, and would almost always rather hang out and have a good time than train. He deeply respects Splinter’s teachings and his rules about humans, but Mikey can’t shake the feeling that humans would probably be more accepting of him and his brothers than his father expects.
While Mikey is an absolute legend when it comes to battling with the nunchaku, his true happy place is posting up with a large pizza and a super funny stand-up comedy special, not a ninja brawl. All he really wants to do is make people happy, so if he has to kick some mutant butt with his brothers along the way, so be it!
FAST FACTS ABOUT MIKEY
Mikey (aka Michelangelo) is the youngest brother out of all four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, aka the baby! But don’t tell him we said that.
Mikey is voiced by Shamon Brown Jr. in the Mutant Mayhem movie.
Ninja Turtle Color: Orange! As in, ORANGE you glad Mikey is here to save the day?
Most Likely To: Order a pizza to battle. What? Like he’s not gonna be hungry after fighting off bad guys and protecting life as we know it?
Namesake: Mikey is named after Michelangelo, one of the most famous Renaissance artists of all time! Michelangelo was a sculptor, painter, architect, and poet known best for iconic works of art like the David, the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling, and more.
Weapon of Choice: Nunchaku and a winning sense of humor.
Describe Mikey in Three Words: Ordering. A. Pizza.

I started thinking of that Alpha!Dream and Alpha!Calliope bitching Hob prompt from a while ago. This one: https://gabessquishytum.tumblr.com/post/735255882065199104/more-immortal-throuple-omegaverse-3-hob-during
It had been a year since Dream and Calliope had claimed Hob and made him an omega. Much had changed in that time, it took months more for his body to make the full change from alpha to omega, for him to learn and adapt to new instincts, to reassure his friends and allies he was safe, and, most annoyingly, to learn the rules and etiquette surrounding his new station. He had made his tutors despair once he’d learned everything he needed. It was more fun for him when when a noble knew he was deliberately snubbing them.
His body had changed so much. He had put on more weight and now had a healthy layer of fat over his muscles. He looked softer in the face, shoulders, and thighs. His tummy gently sloped over his belt and his chest was more padded. He could still break a man with his hands, but he had learned people seemed to underestimate him now that he was an omega.
He had yet to return either of his mating marks. He wanted to make Dream and Calliope work for it. He didn't mind having been claimed, nor becoming an omega, but he wanted to be romanced. Instinct had proven they fit together, now they had to win his heart. He had expectations of a proper courtship.
Dream and Calliope were determined to woo him by the time Hob's heats stabilized and it was safe to have children. There were a few missteps, in the beginning: pretty and useless trinkets, soft and delicate clothes, though Hob did take an especially gauzy outfit or two for future sexy times. They figured things out eventually. Hob had great fun flirting with his alphas and scandalizing the nobility during the process. They had better get used to it, and him. He was only willing to bend so far. Truly, it didn't take long for Hob to fall in love, not with the way his alphas tried so hard to win his heart and respected his agency, not when they would take turns outside his chamber door to comfort and ease him through his heats.
When he finally accepted their suit, Dream and Calliope were overcome with emotion. They didn't…they thought they have to work harder and longer, maybe up to or even beyond his first stable heat cycle. Hob had every right to be angry with them. It was hard to fight off one alpha in rut, much less two. He had had very little choice in the matter. Hob immediately put their fears to rest.
In the week leading up to his heat Hob spent very little time with his chosen alphas. Instead, he wandered the castle and palace grounds, trailing the sweet, heady scent of pre-heat. It clung, thick and pungent, to those Hob called friend. It was driving Dream and Calliope crazy. They were getting very little work done, following that delicious scent whenever it crossed their path. If they were lucky it would lead to Hob, wherein they would be showered with kisses and coaxed into a cuddle, more often than not they would find a soldier, servant, or, on occasion, the odd noble Hob had befriended.
The last two days before his heat Hob rarely left his rooms. He had to make sure his nest was perfect for his alphas. He had taken their favorite and most comfortable clothes to weave into the nest. The bottom was padded with the covers of their shared bed. Pillows were tucked and stashed, building out the edges. He fiddled and fluffed until satisfied.
On the day his heat finally hit, Hob had just enough presence of mind to garb himself in his favorite silk lingerie and drape himself in the best of his courting jewelry. Before he left his room he grabbed a diaphanous robe that complemented his outfit.
Dream was pacing the parlor of their private suite, while Calliope sat white-knuckled on the sofa. The castle had been emptied, outside the few servants needed to keep them fed and watered. The thought of others, competition, near Hob was enough to send them into a near frenzy, only the faint sounds emerging from his room kept them from scouring the grounds for intruders. As Dream passed behind Calliope the door to Hob's room opened. When he stepped out Calliope’s breath caught in her throat and Dream had to anchor himself lest he lose control. This was it, they were finally going to be claimed by their omega.
His scent billowed out from the room, a teasing delight for the senses. Hob was beautiful, incandescent. A robe teased the edges of his body, belted at the waist. His lingerie, where visible, concealed as much as it revealed. Along his arms glinted golden bangles and bracelets. Delicate strands of jewels encircled his neck. Dream's ruby in pride of place. Gilded chains sparkled in the light where they were braided into his dark hair. He was a summer afternoon, sharp vanilla and juicy oranges, heat heavy on the tongue.
He padded into the room on bare feet, headed for his alphas. He pulled Calliope to her feet, pulled her hands to his faced and dropped a kiss on the backs of both before scenting along her dainty wrists. “My queen, will you join me?”
She growled, low and wanting, and dug her fingers into his hair, pulling him down for a searing kiss. “Yes, of course, sweeting,” she breathed against his lips.
Hob laughed. “Only for the two of you.”
He moved her hands to his waist so he could reach for Dream and draw him close. His arms went around Dream's shoulders as he dragged his nose along the other man's scent gland. Dream whined, high in his throat. His hands landing on Hob's hips to pull him closer still. “And you, my king? Will you let me make you mine?”
“Yes, my treasure,” he rasped. “We will be yours as you are ours.”
Hob sighed, pleased, and led them to his, their, nest. He crawled in first, positioned himself in the middle as artfully as he could manage. “I expect to be with child by heats end, and will be most disappointed if you fail.”
His alpha’s moaned and scrambled after him.
It got much longer that anticipated, but I had fun with it.
—🏵
Super duper very much incredibly obsessed with this!!!! Especially how youve written it and all the lush descriptions!!! Am also absolutely love this whole au concept in general tbh. The role reversal of Hob being bitched and then Dream and Calliope submitting to him utterly... the power dynamics make me drool.
And I'm soooo into the process of the body shifting from alpha to omega. Can you imagine Calliope and Dream watching and trying to hold themselves back as they watch their omega coming into himself? The changing distribution of his weight, the way he slowly outgrows clothes designed for alpha body types, the way they catch him admiring his naked body in the mirror almost every day. Calliope has bitten her fingernails down so badly because she needs to do something to stop herself from going right over and burying her face in Hob’s soft belly. The belly that might soon carry their child.....
Hob slowly begins to realise that despite the unfortunate circumstances of his changing from alpha to omega... he would have chosen this. This is who he was meant to be. And Dream and Calliope are meant to be his alphas. He is proud to be theirs, proud to build a nest for them, proud to present his dripping heat-slick hole for the very first time. He is so excited to get pregnant by his alphas, he can barely manage to keep up the dominance in his voice as he commands them to fuck him full of heirs.
They didn't find their omega in the easy way, but they did absolutely find the right one. Dream and Calliope look forward to long lives filled with love. And the snarkiest omega in the land. He was quite literally made for them.

Paris and the World under The Supreme’s Rule Headcannons
Back during WW2, when Marianne suggested to Wang Fu they should use the Miraculous, she of course meant using them to fight. Wang Fu decided to use them to make a wish;
World Peace.
The price?
World freedom.
So there are SOME good things… No war in Vietnam, no war in Isreal, and good news Americans; 9/11 never happened and school shootings do not exist because it is impossible for anyone to get a gun, not even hunters!
On the downside, no guns for hunting means wildlife conservation is a thing of the past. Animal overpopulation in addition to human deforestation has led to a significant decrease in food sources for wildlife, many of which have gone extinct due to starvation. Another plus side is there are no “slap on the wrist” punishments for criminals who assault women and children. Death penalty is a very effective way to prevent recurring crimes.
Prisons are also no longer a multi-million dollar drain on tax-paying citizens; no free room and board for criminals. They all have to work in labor camps to earn every morsel of food and live in 15 square foot cells.
(Marinette’s Grandmother is currently serving time in a labor camp)
There aren’t really much in the way of trials either… You are arrested for a crime, presented with the facts/evidence, then sentenced.
There are no homeless wandering streets, begging for hand-outs. There are special labor camps for the impoverished where they are assigned tasks that meet their physical and mental abilities, snd are paid enough to afford them cheap living quarters, approximately 130 square feet in size, and the most basic of food stuffs and hygiene products to keep them alive. No, they cannot refuse.
Remember, the Supreme knows best.
Project Oxygen is a go- several small parks have been “re-habilitated” into giant filters and fresh air is beginning to be sold in fancy plastic bottles thanks to Bertrand King. He’s been trying for a while to convince Gabriel that Adrien should do commercials for Project Oxygen, as it would be great for the boy’s career…. But Gabriel always comes up with an excuse to get out of it. The latest being that it wouldn’t match with Adrien’s new look.
Audrey Bourgeois ADORES Adrien’s new look! It’s so much more bold and edgy! Also, the latest fashion trend is not glitter, it’s metal studs- industry and progress in a sleek, metallic form.
Audrey is home more often than Andre, who could be gone for months at a time working on one of his movies. But of course he still handles important paperwork and does video calls to check on hotel and sends lots of very expensive gifts to his little Princess.
Chloe is even more abusive and demanding of Sabrina, and poor Sabrina puts up with it for her father’s sake-
There has been a lot of vandalism lately (thanks to Shadybug and ClawNoir) and talk that Enforcers just aren’t as effective at keeping the order as they used to be. Word is that tech Giant Tsurugi is in the process of designing new automatons that will be more efficient (and less costly) than human Enforcers. Who knows? There may even be a surge of Enforcer lay-offs if the project becomes successful. Chloe has hinted that she MIGHT be willing to put in a good word with Daddy, should Mr. Raincomprix be one of the many Enforcers who finds himself out of a job. The Hotel could always use more security guards/bouncers. But since Daddy ONLY hires the most DEDICATED employees… Well, how can Chloe possibly make a recommendation if she’s not sure Sabrina’s dad would REALLY give it his all? So Sabrina bends over backwards until she breaks and then some to keep Chloe happy.
Officer Raincomprix is also uneasy about talks of future layoffs, and as such, has become harsh in Enforcing law and order. No little wrong doing goes unnoticed or forgiven. No leniency. (Think Roger-cop without the Akuma).
Rose is not that perky. Under the Supreme, there is no socialist nonsense like Universal Healthcare, so medicines, doctor visits, prescriptions, hospitals… it’s all crazy expensive just like in the USA. This means, in order for Rose to be able to attend a private school like Francois Dupont; her parents work a LOT of overtime and pinch pennies whenever they can. So it’s very lonely at home and in this universe, Rose has not (yet) met Juleka (as stated in previous headcannon). Instead of Unicorns, Rose’s favorite animal is the Caladrius, (a mythological bird that can heal any illness). Though unicorns and kittens are still in her top five favs.
Rose doesn’t see the word through rose-colored glasses. She can’t see the silver-lining in ever raincloud… Instead, she tries to make it herself; if there is no positive, she will just have to invent one! It’s more work, and exhausting, but she HAS to, otherwise she’d drown in depression. Rose’s illness is kept a secret, not because she fears people will treat her with pity, but that she fears people will look down on her; like she’s a burden on her parents, like it’s annoying to have to put up with her weakness.
(I’ve actually been sick myself, since xmas day in fact- perhaps as punishment from the universe for making ClawNoir cataclysm Santa Claus)
Penny is Bob Roth’s personal servant- er, I mean, assistant… which means she’s also gopher for XY. (There is no woman in Paris more miserable than Penny).
Jean-Pierre Monlataing is still an Art teacher at Francois Dupont… and he teaches traditional art styles. Helping students practice time-honored techniques through repetition and standardization. Graffiti is not art, so no spray-paint cans in his classroom! Alix Kubdel is his most troubled student. Marinette does not attend art club. Nathaniel shows great talent for portraits.
Jalil strives to be better than his father; he admire Nathalie Sancoeur and hopes to rise to her position of Director of the Louvre someday.
Directors of Museums are prestigious positions you have to work hard your whole life to even be considered for, as The Supreme appoints them. As far as the public knows, this is for the sake of preserving history as well as ensuring that dangerous ideas from the past do not repeat themselves and inspire anarchy in young, impressionable minds.
The reality is that they are searching for clues to missing Miraculous.
The Supreme has already taken steps to ensure the Prodigious will never pose a threat to his power (Temple and access to cave have been destroyed and the bracelet has been confiscated and placed in a secure location).
But there are still most likely Miraculous scattered across the earth. Gems that, if fallen into the “wrong hands” could disrupt the peace and order that the Supreme has worked hard to maintain.
Marianne intends to find these Miraculous first… if only she had the help of someone younger and more physically up to the challenge.
When Gabriel/Betterfly/Hesperia forms “The Resistance” and Marianne is introduced to their ranks, this is exactly the plan she suggests in order to take down The Supreme and give power back to all the people.
She only has a few clues on where to start searching though.
…Fun fact, if you were to unify the Ladybug miraculous of creation with the Eagle miraculous of freedom, you would get Ladybird- determined to create a new, free world.

So because I’ve ended up with so many ATLA AUs/fic ideas (more than I’ll probably ever reasonably be able to write) I’m just gonna go ahead and drop some of them here for anyone who might be interested in using the ideas. What’s listed below isn’t all of my AU ideas, just some of the ones that I like but don’t know if I’ll ever get to actually writing. I’ll probably end up making more of these fic idea/writing prompts as I end up coming up with more lol
Living Shrine AU: From an early age Zuko is trained in a secretive sect of Fire Nation Spiritualists that serve the Fire Lord. The Spiritualists gain powers/abilities through binding themselves to willing Spirits in exchange for worship and servitude.
Instead of binding himself to a minor spirit like he’s supposed to, Zuko ends up forming a bond with the Blue Spirit. When the Agni Kai happens, the Blue Spirit goes on a rampage, nearly kills Ozai and scares the shit out of everyone in attendance, resulting in Zuko having to go on the run at 13.
Lone Dragon and (Air Bison) Cub AU: An AU that starts with Zuko leaving Iroh behind in Zuko Alone where instead of the Earth Kingdom town, Zuko stumbles upon a small group of strange refugees seeking a new life. After spending some time with them Zuko realizes that they’re actually some of the last living Air Nomads in the world.
One thing leads to another and Zuko helps them find a safe place to stay (trading his ability to Fire Bend to a Spirit in order to make sure), only for one of the Air Nomads - one of the small handful of Air Benders in the group - to ask him to help them hunt the Avatar down so they can become an Air Bending Master themself.
Which means Zuko is, once again, hunting Aang, only this time so he can yeet another Air Bender at him and then die in a ditch (Zuko is both very dramatic and making a little bit more of an emotional/mental wreck than normal in this AU). Everyone is very confused by the whole thing.
Prison Prince AU: In which Zuko, still very injured and not at all recovered from the Agni Kai and not even officially banished yet, storms the docks when the 41st Division is to be deployed, very publicly screams at several generals about how he refuses to let them sacrifice his people for no good reason, maybe causes a riot and ends up in Boiling Rock at age 13.
Instead of being murdered immediately like Ozai expects, Zuko ends up flourishing. The prisoners love him. The guards love him. Everyone is desperate to keep him safe and teach him anything and everything they can to keep him alive, unintentionally turning him into a nightmare of a skill monkey.
By the time Zuko is 16 he’s broken out of (and into, and out of again) every prison in the Fire Nation and half of the ones in the Earth Kingdom to boot, doing whatever he can to help his people wherever he ends up along the way.
Now if someone could explain to him this whole new fashion fad where people keep smearing red paint over their left eyes that’d be great. Maybe he’ll ask that Water Tribe kid what the deal is after they get done breaking all these people out of Boiling Rock (again, he’s really ruining this place’s reputation.)
Azula says “Fuck the Fire Lord” AU: After taking Ba Sing Se, instead of getting Zuko to help her attack Aang (and the Gaang at large) Azula instead convinces Zuko to stay with her and help her rule over Ba Sing Se/use the resources the city offers in order to fight against Ozai.
Things get confusing for the war after that, and even more so when Zuko decides he doesn’t want to just hide behind Ba Sing Se’s walls and sneaks out to hunt down Aang (again) and teach him Fire Bending. He may have forgotten to tell Azula of his plan. Azula may, due to some faulty information, believe that her brother has been kidnapped by the Avatar to force her hand into helping fight the Fire Nation. Things get a bit chaotic.

I want to talk about this scene. The banquet of the Jins, some time after the Sun Shot campaign.
The Wens have been defeated, the Cultivating world is picking up its pieces. The Jins are trying to set themselves up as the head of the cultivating world. They have the power and the wealth, and they're also using underground means to get their hands on demonic Cultivation so they're basically establishing themselves as the new Wens.
During the banquet, Jin Zixun comes over to the twin Jades of Lan, and offers them a cup of alcohol. Every cultivator who has trained in Gusu (which is basically everyone) is well aware that the Lans do not drink. They. Know. This. Jin Zixun strolls over to precisely where they are seated and asks them to drink in public.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jin Guangyao tries to mediate the issue, letting Jin Zixun know that his demands are absurd, but then Jin Zixun retorts that they've formed an alliance with the Lans which is true. The Lans were heavily damaged during the war, along with the Jiangs. Their strong connection with the Jins is helping them scale through rebuilding. To do anything to fracture that friendship would put the Lan clan in an unfortunate position. Yet what Zixun is asking of them is just plain wrong. It's almost bullying. Drinking is not only against their rules but they can't handle alcohol.
Tumblr media
I like this little moment when Zixun says it's an ultimatum and Lan Xichen turns to Wangji for a second. Wangji's eyes like "Brother, don't you dare touch that filthy cup." XD.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, let's talk about everyone else during this scene because this is a very public confrontation and all their 'friends' are there. Everyone is very present and this is what they are doing. They are, to put it in a nice way, amused. They are amused by how hard the twin Jades are having it.
I mean, I get it, they are not trying to be jerks on purpose and probably assume that the Jades are making a mountain out of a molehill. After all, it's just one cup of alcohol and they themselves can stomach plenty. Except that it IS a very big deal. They can't drink and they can't hold their liquor. One cup is way too much for them. Even if they didn't know this, anyone should know that forcing people to drink in social situations is wrong! (But who am I kidding, plenty of nondrinkers still get pressured into drinking even in today's world).
Tumblr media
I'm also going to point out that Jin Guangyao is somehow the only one truly begging for Lan Xichen's sake. He's visibly distressed. Nie Mingjue is visibly distressed as well but he's doing nothing.
Tumblr media
So, true to his peacekeeper people-pleaaser nature, Lan Xichen bends his morals to accept the cup. He figures he can handle one cup, its what a good clan leader should do right? There's no need to make a fuss about something like this. If this small gesture will help the clan then why shouldn't I make this small sacrifice (sacrificed so much of life already so why not one more).
Tumblr media
Now, Lan Wangji is mad. He wasn't pissed before, he could ignore their barbaric behaviour, but now it's personal. We can all tell by Lan Wangji's reaction that he's a little disappointed that Lan Xichen was forced to succumb to peer pressure. He's a little upset with his brother but he's more upset with the fact that it's okay to sit and watch this happen. No one is going to fight for them. If the world wills them to drink they just drink whether or not they want to. So now he's thinking "I'm not going to stand for that."
Tumblr media
This small moment where Lan Xichen shakes his head clearly telling Jin Guangyao not to worry about him. 🥺
Tumblr media
Jin Zixun dares to bring that disgusting cup his way and Lan Wangji gives him the look. This exact look says everything. It says "I'm not taking that cup." It's his own little way of fighting for justice. Jin Zixun's hands will break before his fingers so much as graze that cup he's holding.
Tumblr media
We see Lan Xichen panic a little cause he knows his brother better than anyone and Wangji has got his stubborn face on. He is not touching that cup. He's stuck in a very awkward position because he could take the other cup for his brother, but just because he survived one cup doesn't mean hell survive two. To make things worse, one cup is exactly Lan Wangji's limit, and once again, no one is moving to help them.......
Tumblr media
......until (●♡∀♡).
Tumblr media
The look of love on Lan Zhan's face.
Tumblr media
Wei Wuxian really waltzed in there already ready to start some shit, just to find the Cultivating world picking on his boyfriend and his brother-in-law. No way he was having that.

How would WMLP M’Gann and Dick react to being called brainwashed? How would Kaldur, Conner and Artemis react to being accused of being brainwashed?
Maaaaaaaaaan. That would be a loaded accusation.
I mean I suppose it's depend on who is saying it. Like they all kind of have certain people who could say it to them and get away with it.
For the most part Artemis would be blatantly angry about it. As far as she's concerned she's perfectly reasonable and moral and everyone else is wrong. The best someone could say is that she is now much more willing to do things largely regarded as 'bad' and that she's actively living with Jade. Like she isn't necessarily brain washed in any capacity but she's very willing to break and bend rules for her cause, because she thinks it's justified.
M'gaan would meet the accusation with like. Vague annoyance. Because like duh. Bee literally had her telepathy turned against her. Like she would acknowledge that she has been brainwashed in the sense that Bee has physically done that. But she'd also be pissed because what the hell is she supposed to do about it? Cry? She's better off just making the best of her situation. What she doesn't realise is that's literally brainwashing talking, she's not subverting it.
Conner would be a bit insulted because like. He's still him. He actively hates everything about this situation he just kinda has no choice in the matter. Conner actively thinks that he got the best possible treatment out of the six of them. He hasn't been brainwashed, he's the equivalent of a dog with a shock collar.
Kaldur would just kind of shrivel up and die inside about it. He doesn't want any of this and he is so mad at himself for letting this all have such a big effect on him. As far as he's concerned he isn't actually facing any real hardship, he's just not allowed to do things. He thinks his reaction to everything is wildly disproportionate. Which is because of the brainwashing.
Dick would start throwing fists. No that's probably a bit of an exaggeration. But he would not be happy about it and he would be ready to fight about it. Because anyone calling him brainwashed is coming from the perspective of 'you used to be better and now someone has ruined you and if you just let us help you we could fix you, it's not you're fault you poor baby here let the adults handle it's which sets off most of his triggers. Because of the brainwashing. Y'know how it is.

So! I have just watched the premiere for the Percy Jackson TV show and I am already in love. Let's start off simple.
(Am putting the read more for spoilers for those of you who have not watched yet)
There has been a lot of discourse over Leah Jeffries being Annabeth Chase because she didn't match the audiences vision of her. Yes, the book version was blonde with gray eyes. But I am more than happy to sacrifice looks to get Annabeth. Let's face it, the movies were a giant flop and an even greater disappointment. Annabeth was not Annabeth. Her actress just didn't pull her personality forwards. They shared a name and (in one movie) a hair color, but she did not have the dry wit and sarcasm nor the leadership and sheer defiance Annabeth has been known for since day one. Lovely Lady Leah brought Annabeth's character to life, and she did it well. I don't think I'll ever be able to have a different cinematic Annabeth. It'll always be her I see.
Annabeth was not the only one to change appearance. Percy (Walker Scobell) had lighter hair than he did in the novels, a blond-ish brown instead of black. Luke (Charles Bushnell) is not a white guy with blond hair and a scar over his eye- but he brought Luke's character to life. Many forget that yes, while Luke chose to fight on the wrong side of the war and did bad things, he was not a bad person. He stepped up for Percy when no one else did, made him feel welcome at the camp even when Annabeth stalked him and fought with him and his friendship with Grover was strained. Luke was the reason Percy claimed Camp Half-Blood as home, and Charles displayed that well in his acting.
Walker Scobell, Percy himself, did a wonderful job with Percy's character. The self-blame, wondering what was wrong with him, the grief stricken 12 year old boy, and even the anger towards his father and need to be accepted, he pulled it all off magnificently. The scenes were very touching, and I felt my heart break when he was told to burn the food he wanted to eat most to gain the gods' ears and, instead of talking to his father, he spoke to his mother. I was literally in tears. (Am also almost positive that Rick stuck him on a rock and told him to be a bored preteen. I saw that fortnite dance.)
Aryan Simhadri, sweet Grover, also did a great job with his character. Grover's nervousness, his want to help Percy, his desperation to keep him safe and looking traumatized before we're told his backstory... Absolutely wonderful. He did a wonderous job at showcasing Grover in his entirety- the dedication to friends despite his fear and his desire to protect them. He's willing to bend the rules to make sure Percy has what he needs and justifies it as helping Mr. D and Chiron convince Percy to accept the quest (no sneaking out this time!)
Now! Into the meat of the story- I, for one, think that this was put together very well. There are some differences, some of them threw me for a moment, not going to lie, because my brain was looking for how the events went in the book. There are some differences, but nothing exceedingly major. Nothing like, oh, I don't know, telling Percy the prophecy his second year at camp and bringing back Kronos with the first attempt, (Can anyone tell I'm still salty?) The fight with Mrs. Dodds was a touch different, Sally and Percy interacting with Gabe before leaving was a touch different, and Percy's claiming are all examples that, for whatever reason, are at the forefront of my mind. Mostly minor things, like Sally doing a seven layer bean dip in the books and threatening to eat Gabe's sandwich in the show. A minor difference that has no overall change, just something that, for whatever reason, my own ADHD brain latched on to. But there are also similarities. I noticed that the episode names correspond with chapter names and the opening of the premier was exactly what Percy said to kick off the Lightning Thief.
Sally was still an amazing mother. Annabeth was still stern and cold. Luke was warm and welcoming. Clarisse was mean and ready to shove Percy's head in a toilet- and she had her spear! The characters were diverse- which is something that Rick has aimed for with his characters from the begining- and none of them were flat or seemed like they were acting. It was lovely.
Now! Camp itself! The design was wonderful. It's big, the cabins have Grecian designs, there are different training fields, the Hermes Cabin is overcrowded, Dionysus is an asshole, Dryads are in the woods, and we even see people picking strawberries in the background at one point. A lot of subtle things that add up and really make this Camp Half-Blood.
All in all, I definitely recommend this to people. I myself will be continuing to watch it so I can see my babies come to life (I know it's going to take years but I can't wait to meet Nico) and I am rooting for these people. The set designers, the actors, the moral supporters, the producers, and, of course, Uncle Rick himself have done a phenomenal job with finally bringing life to these books. They aren't just the same names and locations while being a completely different story- this is Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

How about BrokenTiger hypokits? Not a personal ship but I'm fascinated by it in concept
Tumblr media
You even get two different stories for the price of one. Unlike most things I do, these two are mutually exclusive.
Thistlerush and Wolfhowl.
These two kits were born after Brokentail and Tigerclaw had met up once to discuss how they'd take over their respective clans, with possibility of assisting the other (aka take over their clan asap).
The two kits were very unwelcome in Tigerclaw's plans, but Brokentail wanted more cats in its clan to be more powerful (and even have some heirs!) So it took the two.
Thistlerush (she/it) is very angry very quickly. That's a shield she made at a very young age to deal with the (mild) judgment from the clan and especially Brokentail's harshness, but now it’s the only thing she has. It resents the Clan for being so mean and only looks up to Brokentail as the cat that will change ShadowClan and then the other clans for the better. World domination is a good thing for it because then why would cats from "different" clans fight if they're led by the same strong cat. It is very stuck in its mindset of changing the clans to make them better by killing everyone who doesn't want to cooperate and annexing all the clans under the banner of ShadowClan. When Brokenstar made her steal kits, it was for the betterment of the lives of these kits, when Brokey made them train early it was to defend ShadowClan from the barbaric clans, when it tasked her with killing cats it was because they were treasonous. Any disloyal cat needed to be punished. The end goal of bettering the clans was the one thing important to her. It’s very willing to bend the rules to attain its goals and will get its paws bloody when needed.
Wolfhowl (they/them) is quiet and withdrawn. They overthink a lot and definitely have kitty autism. They're always having doubts about the actions of Broken and Thistle because they break the rules a whole lot, and the rules and the status quo are very important to them yano. They want the Clans to be like they’ve always been. See how long they’ve lived like this, why would the Clans need to change? They often chicken out of doing deeds that could break the code in any way, like, stealing prey? no way. killing another cat? hope you have a good reason for that. They still do have issues with wanting to make Brokenstar proud of them, so they do anything it tells them to do, but Brokey still had doubts about their true loyalty.
When they got banished they were hurt because obviously they were going to be punished, they killed Raggedstar (this was after at least three called off attempts because Wolf cowarded out, but eventually Broken snapped and told Wolf to do it themselves or go die, Wolf actually killed Raggenstar themselves after that verbal (and physical) lashing) but having their parent do it was painful to watch. When Tigerclaw got into contact with them during their exile they were desperate for some positive attention and they discovered they had another dad that was ready to pay attention to them. They were thrilled and they were the one that got rogues ready for Tiger's plan to attack ThunderClan in an attempt to kill Bluestar. What they didn't expect though was that Tiger would also get Brokenstar's followers on the coup and thus they'd be reunited with Thistlerush.
when Brokenstar was ousted Thistlerush obviously followed it. It was the cat that would change the clans. The beacon of light in this dark world, she was going to stay loyal to it until the bitter end. And bitter it was as she saw Broken be captured by ThunderClan and couldn't help it escape. At least until Tigerclaw asked her and the rest of Broken's followers to assist him in a coup. Tiger assured Thistle that not only would Tiger help to save Broken and reinstate it as ShadowClan's true leader, but he would help it in its plans for the betterment of the Clans. It believed him and now it was time to fight ThunderClan. There it got reunited with its sibling! And she also saw a couple of kits unattended and whilst the rest of the group had to flee, it grabbed the two kits. They'd grow up in a better place, or at least they'd be good bargaining chips.
Wolfhowl found Thistlerush with the two little kits. They were very surprised by that, but tried to comfort the kits while Thistle explained what had happened. Wolf learnt Thistle doesn’t know about Tigerclaw, but honestly kinda feared telling her. The two stayed with the rest of Tiger’s group while Wolf tried to calm the kits. They were quite surprised by how much one of the kits looked like Tigerclaw and suspected that maybe they were his kits.
When the cats finally found Tigerclaw again he was in a bad shape. Wolf fretted over him too as they tried to keep the two little kits safe. WHen Tigerclaw saw he kits he wanted to know who had brought them here. Thistle said she did and Tiger praised her for doing so. When Tiger was somewhat moderately in a better shape (thanks kind rogue with medicinal knowledge Wolf had found), he gave his followers a rallying speech to motivate them to keep on going. He had seen that Brokenstar had been killed, but he vowed to continue its plan to bring all the clans together for himself to let them live in an age of peace and stability.
First things first all the cats needed to become stronger and then they would try to find a way to continue their plan further. Wolf wasn’t very sure about how being outcasts after having attempted a coup was a good thing because it’s breaking so many rules from the code, but they were definitely not going to say anything out loud. They simply tried to care for Bramblekit and Tawnykit as best they could. Thistle on the other hand was very hyped about everything. Tigerclaw seemed like a cat that had even more ambition to fulfill these plans. It was still very loyal to Brokenstar and was terribly saddened by its death, but Tiger had ambition, Tiger had power, Tiger had a drive and cunning to do what was needed. Tiger was actually going to get the Clans to that dreamed place where all the cats would be loyal to each other.
The first thing on the to-do list was to get back in the clans, because outsiders stinky, they have to be within the clans and make them better. Luckily ShadowClan was having troubles with the carrion sickness and Tiger could use his followers to gain their good graces, even using the ex-shadowclan ones as cats that wanted to repent for their misdeeds. ShadowClan slowly began to trust Tiger and his crew until the one fateful night where Nightstar died. ShadowClan was in a mess, but a sign made everything clear. One claw cast a shadow that combined with the branches of a tree made the ground look like a tiger’s pelt. Tigerclaw was named the next ShadowClan leader and made Thistlerush deputy. A few cats were a bit curious as to why Thistle walked a bit awkwardly for a while, but they didn’t dare to question it. Wolfhowl was definitely worried, but couldn’t ask anything as Thistle was too busy being with Tiger all the time. They were there too, alongside Bramble and Tawny, who had been made apprentices once they had reached six moons of age, but neither of these three really had anything to say.
When Tigerstar was comfortably settled in ShadowClan, having dealt with any opposition to his leadership he turned his eyes to RiverClan. Their new leader, Leopardstar, was someone that Tigerstar knew would be interested in having more power. Wolf and Thistle weren’t good diplomats so obviously Tiger got Leopard on his side himself. He was right though that she was a cunning and power-hungry cat and he got her very easily on his side. RiverClan and ShadowClan combined, TigerClan got formed. Tiger kept a few cats in River to keep things in check and it was Wolfhowl pretty often, obviously they didn’t go alone, but they were sent to River the most compared to all the other cats. Those other cats (esp Jaggedtooth and the likes) were often at least mildly bullying RiverClan cats and it was expected that Wolf would do the same. Wolf kinda did, but never liked it, they never liked any of this and kept feeling guilty for still keeping on following Tiger, but coward as they are, they never did anything too big to rebel.
After RiverClan Tigerstar had even bigger plans: get WindClan on his side. A conquest like Brokenstar did would Not be good pr, but Tigerstar is a very smooth talker. He came to visit WindClan a few times and did his best to convince Tallstar that working together would be for the best. WindClan was dealing with a mild prey crisis due to a huge lack of rabbits on the moorlands. (did the visits from ShadowClan have anything to do with it? we may never know). Tiger offered to help Wind with prey and he used this as an example, this cooperation and care, of how things could be if the clans were all under the same banner. After a moon and a bit of trying very hard, some quicktime fox events that were very unexpected and a lot of prey donated, Tallstar eventually relented. Now TigerClan had three clans under its banner.
Now to make TigerClan great all traitors must be taken care of. The Halfclan cats, outsiders, and cats that have too close ties to ThunderClan were separated from the rest. At first they were just treated poorly, but after the event of Mistyfoot and Stonefur being outed as Halfclans themselves (Tiger got both River and Wind to his side before Bluestar’s death in this AU), he decides it’s too much. He tasks Thistlerush with herding all the traitors together and forcing them in a prison where they would never see the light of day again, unless it’s to die. Mistyfoot, her kits, Stonefur, Graystripe’s kits, Onewhisker, Deerfoot, and little Gorsepaw were taken prisoner. Thistlerush has the job of beating anyone who says bad things and make sure they regret being disloyal to TigerClan. She even threatened Wolfhowl once. This was still forgivable for them, but when they saw how Thistle hurt Tawnypaw when she sneakily tried to bring food to the prisoners they were done.
Wolf couldn’t save the prisoners or even get other cats out without causing trouble, but they didn’t have any connections left, so them leaving wouldn’t negatively affect any other cat. They needed to stop this, they Had to DO something. They left the River camp one cloudy night. Most cats would be asleep or busy somewhere else than on the little path they had found. It led to the barn close to RiverClan’s territory, and from there they headed to ThunderClan. It was a long trek and they weren’t even welcome, being an ex-ShadowClan exile that worked with Tigerstar and all that. They still tried their best to convince Firestar to help. Firestar didn’t really trust them.
Wolfhowl got the idea of helping the prisoners escape as a way to prove they weren’t on the side of Tigerstar. Wolfhowl offered to go alone first, but Graystripe wanted to come too and Firestar relented and came with them aswell. On the way they picked up Ravenpaw and now it was time for an escape mission. The four cats infiltrated the River camp, that was where the prisoners were kept. Wolf had barely left the day prior and Tiger was still angry and decided it was the fault of the traitors. He commanded Stonefur, Featherpaw and Stormpaw to be brought, Tiger told Stone to kill the apprentices, but he refused to. This time he didn’t command Darkstripe to kill Stonefur, he immediately had Thistlerush doing it. She leapt for him with rage unmatched by any other cat, but Stonefur was smarter and faster, even in the bad state he was in and avoided her claws very nimbly. She attacked again, but Stonefur riposted. As it landed on the ground, Tigerstar’s followers jeered at its weakness and Tigerstar himself commented on how it could get bested by a weakened halfclan. This made Thistlerush Enraged and she lunged for Stonefur again. This time she was faster and grabbed Stonefur. Its teeth sunk deep in his throat and it shook him around like prey while he desperately tried to fight back. As Stonefur finally stopped fighting back, it dropped him. Featherpaw and Stormpaw were brought back to their prison and that was the moment to get them out!
Ravenpaw got the guard to go away (by like in canon pretending to be a clancat that said Tiger wanted to see the guard). Then Wolfhowl, Firestar and Graystripe entered the prison. They found all the cats there. Gorsepaw had a bad wound on his face, but for the rest they were all just starved and dirty. They all left the prison. They managed to nearly leave the territory when TigerClanners found out about the prisoners. Wolfhowl was carrying Gorsepaw and Reedpaw, so they couldn’t help in the fight, but Deerfoot, Graystripe and Onewhisker, who were in the back, began fighting with the TigerClan cats. Graystripe got out in a blaze of glory, mauling at least two very loyal warriors before being taken down. Onewhisker and Deerfoot told the rest to run.
None of the cats wanted to, Firestar was devastated to have lost Graystripe and Wolfhowl didn’t want to abandon anyone, but they had no choice if they wanted anyone to survive this mess. Luckily a patrol of ThunderClan cats intervened to finish the brawl, but all three cats were dead. Four courageous cats had been lost that day and while they couldn’t bury Stonefur, they’d honor him alongside the other cats that had given their lives to save the prisoners. All the surviving cats were brought to thunderClan to rest up. Firestar definitely trusted Wolfhowl after this, but all the cats were mourning.
Then it was time for the final battle. All the cats grouped at fourtrees to end this once and for all. The fight began and it was a huge mess. ThunderClan was at a huge disadvantage, but many cats from TigerClan did not want to fight that hard. Wolfhowl tried to convince cats not to fight anymore, and it did work a bit. Bramblepaw and Tawnypaw especially listened to them and fled to ThunderClan camp to be safe. The fight didn’t stop there though and ThunderClan was beginning to be at a serious disadvantage. Many cats had already fled and a good few were dead, but then Tigerstar stood in front of Firestar. Tiger was taunting the ThunderClan leader, but Fire did his best to draw everyone’s attention to their standoff as Fire meticulously explained all the crimes and horrible actions Tiger had done (everything that he does in canon from Redtail to the execution of Stonefur also happened here). Tigerstar became enraged and tried to attack Firestar as he had arrived to Bluestar’s death and the dogs, but Sandstorm and Mistyfoot stopped him. They pinned Tiger to the ground and let Fire finish before somehow killing Tiger 9 times. (when you don’t have Scourge it’s not that easy, huh)
Most cats were horrified at the discovery. They truly believed Tiger was trying to lead them all to safety and stability, but it was all just his dreams of personal grandeur. Most cats abandoned TigerClan after this and joined with the forces of ThunderClan. The final battle was Thistle and the last followers (that were nearly exclusively clancats that agreed with the ideal of one powerful clan, the others be damned, not the peaceful and perfect all the clans live in harmony thing) versus Thunder and co. It was a massacre, so many intrafamilial conflicts happened. The biggest one was Wolfhowl.
Wolfhowl saw everything Thistlerush was doing and was tired. They confronted Thistle, but she still wouldn’t budge. It even attacked them and a vicious fight began. Wolf is slightly bigger than Thistle, but Thistle is a ferocious fighter that has spent so much time honing its skills. They kept exchanging blows until Thistlerush dropped. Wolf stared at the body of their sibling and wondered where things went wrong before falling too.
The battle was done after that, the Clans had to understand how destructive this feud had been. Bramblepaw and Tawnypaw went to mourn their dead sibling. Firestar rallied all the surviving cats together. They’d have to build the clans back up, but this time things would be different.
The Beast.
Very few cats have been able to see this being in the dark forest and come back alive to tell about it. It is as tall as a Monster and looks at you with its big eyes that emit some kind of light, but which color it is, is hard to determine. Most cats that see it stop moving from fear and that's when it gets you. It opens its gaping maw filled with innumerable teeth or stings you with its poisonous tail. It seems to always be hungry and will devour anything unlucky enough to meet its path. It is rumored that this beast is the embodiment of the wrath of two violent outcasts of the stars. It seems to want to eat those same stars because of that
Be wary of weird sounds in the foggy forest, it might be on the hunt for more souls to feast on.

Hello! I would like to say that I really, really liked your post where you imagined the relationships of all the .exes. These relationships were so... true! You really got into the character of each of the hedgehogs, and that's really great!
I'm assuming Majin is one of your favourites, and the way you've imagined him just blows my mind. If it is possible, could you please write some headcanons or drabble (as you wish) of Majin and Xenophanes' relationship to the reader? Very often these two are shown in fandom as enemies, and you are no exception, and I really enjoyed this trope! Well, I imagine the reader somehow miraculously managed to escape from Xenophanes and accidentally find Majin. The reader is tired of Xenophanes' constant torture and abuse and they pour out their problems to Majin, asking him to save them from their tormentor. Majin may not be an angel in the flesh, but he tries to console the reader, for he himself detests Xenophanes.
Soon Xenophanes manages to find both the reader and Majin after all. He is very, very angry: he furiously demands the return of his toy, he is ready to engage in a fierce fight. Majin, on the other hand, is ready to accept the challenge: it's a good chance for him to have some more fun and show his strength, all the more so if he can do anything to help the reader in this way.
To be honest, unfortunately, I haven't decided on an ending, but you can stop at the beginning of the skirmish and leave an open ending (the reader themselves will decide who wins), or you can take it further in your own way. As you wish!
Thank you in advance if you decide to take up this request. Have a good day/evening/night! ;)
Oh absolutely yes I can do this >:) I've had a good few days to think about this and I think I've finally got something good all cooked up! This one's gonna be open-ended, just because of how long this is 😅 but!!! That also leaves opportunity for some other neat prompts if someone wants to see this continued :)
This is VERY long by the way, so it'll all be under here ↓!
Now, to start us all off, let's see how both Xenophanes and Majin feel about you in this scenario;
• Xenophanes sees you as a personal toy, a most prized plaything. You're a soul he had yet to tire of, even after countless rituals of the most grueling and bloodchilling torture that no person should go through. So for you to come out of these carefully crafted games of cat-and-mouse the same, with your psyche intact...he just wanted to break it. He wanted to break you, and leave you at his feet grovelling and begging for mercy, any kind that he would be willing to spare you. The idea of someone so strong-willed finally bending and cracking beneath his rule made him burn hot; it sent him into some kind of hungry, mad frenzy. Like a dog who cannot reach its prey because there was a fence inhibiting its path, he was for the moment trapped in his own game, raking his claws along this metaphorical barrier in his attempts to reap your soul and make it his. He wants nothing more than that, and won't stop until he gets what he wants.
• Now Majin on the other hand, he's something of a savior. To you, at least. It seemed he just whisked you away from this cage of torment you'd been forced to suffer through for countless ages, into a quiet place that was so...different from what you'd grown accustomed to. He saw you as an acquaintance, and perhaps a friend once you have recovered from injuries you'd received while still under Xenophanes' claws. Majin would service you in any way that he could, simply because he could carry out just about any desire you so pleased if you simply asked him to. His strength — terrifyingly strong, and even still intimidating to you — was nothing more than a shield for you to fall back on, in the case that Xenophanes were to come and take back his precious toy. You may hate the crystalline demon, but nothing makes Majin's blood boil more than the face of, well, another demon (especially in his realm.) To him, Xenophanes was the antithesis of himself; black hatred, that rotted and killed and tortured the innocent, took almost erotic delight in the capture of those he'd locked his soulless eyes upon. And that was simply part of the reason why he protected you so fiercely.
So now, with enough time past, you'd settled in almost comfortably. Of course the threat of Xenophanes was never truly gone; he could arise with blackened claws at any moment and tear your heart out with his bare teeth. But he hadn't. And the almost tranquil environment that Majin called his own had remained undisturbed since he brought you in. His company was enjoyable, and never tiresome; something critical to you whilst you amply recovered from the array of lacerations and other physical traumas you'd gotten. Majin was — for lack of better words — like an angel come to save you. You simply couldn't be more grateful for his rash appearance, and daring maneuver to steal you away.
Steal he did.
Because Xenophanes was still seething over the loss of you. He had not — and would not — cease his incessant search for the doll he'd yet to break until he found them and stamped them into porcelain shards beneath his heel. And be damned, for he swore that he would find you. That the longer you evaded him, the worse your punishment would be. The very thought got a rise out of his quills, their crystallized tips creating an awful rattling sound when struck together.
He just had to find the right spot to find you. And then he would track you, leave trademark and telltale signs that he was in your vicinity. He wanted you scared for when he would leap and gnash his fangs against your flesh. The fear that he'd have accumulated would be simply marvelous when he bled you dry.
It seemed, by some dark miracle, that his hunt had gone one step closer in finding you. There was a peculiar tinge to the air; not quite an odor, nor a breeze, but a feeling. A disturbance in the order of the surroundings. This demon's head lifted, scoping everything out as far as the eye could see, his ears training on every sound that drifted through the quiet grove he'd found himself in. It was his assumption that some kind of thick cover you would hide within, since it would mask your presence from him (that is, until he'd catch on to the residues of your scent. And how that would give him a perfect little trail to follow and torment you with while he drew closer.)
He just had to wait; there was a feeling in his black gut that there was going to be an opening for his pursuit of you somewhere around there shortly.
Quite literally, an opening for him. Like there was a little circular tear in the air, the surrounding brush got instantly, eerily quiet. Like a predator hiding itself from its prey, Xenophanes crouched down with only his eyes gleaming through gaps of ferny leaves, watching coldly. There were voices — two, that he could distinctly make out. One sickeningly airy, untroubled. Making promises to someone else. And the other...it took him a moment; after all, it was rare for him to hear your voice when it wasn't crying from pain or shrieking with fear. Yet hearing you so close, it made his fur stand on end, and his muzzle pull back in anticipation. He could not wait to get his claws back on you. Despite his craving desire to leap in now, he knew that like any skilled predator, the most successes came to the ones with the most patience and stealth.
Out of that hole in the world stepped a hedgehog diminutive in scale compared to himself. Bearing a mask of joy, Xenophanes' stomach churned at the sight of it. He despised the carelessness that this figure exuded, yet what he despised more was that they seemed to be someone under wraps with you. Hiding you from him.
For one whose stature was as large as Xenophanes, it should be hard to make fast maneuvers with minimal sound. Yet he was essentially silent as he broke his cover behind that other hedgehog's back, and clawed his way into the other side of this ring wormhole just as it began to rapidly close.
Before you was the tyrannical form that would always be ingrained into your head. Teeth bared, claws flexed, and his eyes trained directly onto you. They coldly watched you, his muzzle turning up into a fang-filled and grim, snarling smile. The smile of death, that brought no sweet kiss along with it.
"Found you." He rumbled deeply, his terrible voice making your body tremor. You jumped back with a start, tripping over your feet and falling flat on your back, hot sparks of pain flaring up your elbows that caught the weight of your fall. Finally, he had you once more. You would become his again.
His towering figure lurched forward towards you, bringing you ever so closer to those dagger-fangs that he planned on shredding you apart with. The dead glint in his eyes sparkled menacingly as he took a step forward, grim and gruesome ecstasy raising his quills as he already began to look forward to this final chase. Oh, you thought you'd gotten your freedom? So sorry, dear. It all lead back to him eventually. His claws would wrap around you and claw your belly again soon.
Scrambling upright onto your feet again, you silently made a break for the twisting treeline nearby. You just needed to hide until Majin came back — it had to be soon, right? If he could notice ants that had wandered in mere moments after their arrival, surely Xenophanes would be like a red alert. Or was it only when he was within his own realm that he knew what was inside? You were not one to pray, nor believe in divine intervention. But you really, really needed that angel of yours to come back soon. Because the devil was on your trail, and it was only a short matter of time before he dragged you back into hell.
You dared not even to breathe even as you ran, endless racing thoughts cycling your head. Would your presence be masked? Would Xenophanes find you in these woods? You knew them, and he didn't. That had to count for something, right? Please let that stall him. It was virtually all you had.
All your running did though was spur the demon to give chase, his blood pumping strongly as he used every one of his senses to zero in on you. He was gaining on you fast — you could hear his breath growing closer and the sounds of cracking wood as he powered his way through the trees in his path. Something was roared at you but was whisked away; you couldn't make out the words even while he thundered closer to you.
His claws were nearly at your back. Just a little closer, and a swipe, and he'd have you. You'd be all his. The doll of his that he would do all that he pleased before breaking. Just get in his grasp—
With the turn around a trunk you seemed to disappear. Xenophanes swung his head this way and that, his eyes burning with the fury and hatred of something that wasn't anymore like a cruel child upon its toys. This was the rage of a god that had lost its chance for power. Slashing deep gouges into the bark of any sickening blue tree that was in sight, he knocked them over with ease, snarling and hissing in contempt. He could NOT have lost you again. He was so close to getting what he wanted and he lost it. Again!
Your angel had come back. A hand clasped over your mouth, the soft brush of another wiping away your scared tears. Oh, how your heart beat like a terrified bird in a cage... If only Majin had come back sooner before you'd gotten so scared. The both of you watched silently as Xenophanes continued to destroy all wood that he saw. He could see neither of you, but you witnessed every bit of carnage and destruction he caused. Such was the way of the god's woods. They could become as confusing or as linear as he wanted them to be.
"He can't hear us." Majin softly whispered to you, nearly drowned out by the incessant howling roar of the crystal trespasser. It was revoltingly loud to the masked hedgehog. His grasp on you loosened as he made a motion for you to stay quiet, while he stepped forward. "Just stay here."
He seemed to read your mind, because he added on; "I won't let him get you."
You watched with fearful dismay as Majin stepped towards Xenophanes, cowering behind the tree trunks to keep yourself hidden. Powerful as your savior may be, you didn't want to risk your chances being caught a second time. A third in total.
You, you, you. That was all that burned in Xenophanes' mind while he hunted for your trail again, his teeth madly bared and clacking together in rage. He would find you again. He would tear apart that snickering fool that dared to approach him. His snarls turned to Majin, all of his fur and quills raised and puffed out menacingly.
"You," he drawled out in one long, loathesome hiss; "you stole them from me."
"Stole? From you?" The look on Majin's face was insufferable. And that he dared to laugh afterwards? It made Xenophanes seethe. "My dear friend! I believe this is all a big misunderstanding. I didn't steal anything from you!" He gave the much taller demon a mocking courteous bow, as if to prove his submission or innocence. "Rather, I simply came to help someone who was in need."
How long that this act could be kept up, he wasn't sure. Every moment that this trespasser was in his wood, the more silently angry he got. The more he hated this pitiful demon that paraded around as a god. He didn't know the first thing about being even close to one.
"They were in no need. They were mine, and mine only." Xenophanes' muzzle upturned as he bared now not only his fangs, but his gums as well. His patience was running thin, and now would be only a matter of time until he sank his teeth into the chest of this antagonizing jester and ripped the heart of him out. Perhaps he would eat it right above his corpse as well. "Give me back their soul, and I will take my leave."
"But leave you walking the earth after you tore apart one of the only things of my world?" The miniscule blue figure sneered, two thin pinpricks of light staring up at his enemy. "I don't take kindly to those who ravage my domain, dear Xenophanes." The name was like acid on his tongue, burning and sour and dripping with poison. The trees closed in around the two of them, their branches reaching down and forming makeshift shackles around the purple hedgehog. Around his wrists, his throat, his muzzle. He was effectively silenced with nothing more than wood, and forced to either hiss or listen.
"Don't give me that!" In response to the incessant hissing, Majin struck the middle of Xenophanes' nose with his palm. His eyes burned almost as bright with hatred as the demon he'd chained, the two of them both tense and bristled. "You have two options. The first, is you leave. A thousand paces away I have your ticket out opened for you." Suddenly his voice darkened, and he gripped Xenophanes by the chin none too kindly. "But if you remain longer than ten minutes, or go to find that human—"
One of his hands grabbed onto one of the more sizable quills that adorned Xenophanes' head. In one swift motion, Majin ripped it from its root, the spine he'd so unceremoniously harvested glowing bright pink in his palm. "Then you will die here, alone, and you will not be spared a death that would be considered a mercy until I am through with you." He kicked the tyrant onto his back, and ground his heel right into his chest. Staring hatefully down at him, Majin quietly hissed. "Do you understand?"
There was no response other than a vile glare back. Without any premonition, Majin dug his heel further into Xenophanes' chest, his voice rising in tone. "I said, Xenophanes; do you understand?"
To be brought down was something considered a disgrace, something that only his victims should do. And to submit to the will of something stronger was simply the fate of the world. Xenophanes had believed himself to be the apex predator, so for him to bow his head in acknowledgement and nod...if he could feel shame, his ears would be burning hot with it right now.
"Good, then!" The pressure lifted from his breast, and he was hoisted back onto his feet by the same branches that had restrained him. "If you leave before your time is up, the moment you step outside those shackles will wither away and die. My promise."
The air got suddenly several degrees colder, and the pitch darkness seemed to get even darker. Even the trees grew less visible, while Majin laughed to himself beside the newly shamed demon. His smile grew wider, while he gazed off in the direction of Xenophanes' timed chance for escape. No longer did his eyes burn with hate.
It was the euphoric anticipation of a much larger beast closing in on its prey, for nothing other than a life-or-death game that it took so much joy in.
"Start running."

Hoffman Headcanon Backstory
I've been working on trying to figure out the timeline for stuff with Hoffman since I've been wanting to work on fics with him, so I give you all my rough backstory for him! This is more for me to keep track of things than anything tho. Note that I'm first naming him here because it feels weird to describe all of this just using his last name
Warning, this discusses abuse, neglect, cheating, alcoholism, and death. Divider is by saradika
Tumblr media
Mark’s parents’ relationship started falling apart when he was eight. Both of them cheated on each other and would often fight. This got to the point where they’d often be out of the house, leaving Mark largely to figure out how to take care of himself, especially when his dad started drinking
Mark’s dad hit his mom during one particularly bad argument, and she ended up leaving and taking Mark with her
Mark’s parents divorced when he was thirteen. His mom had sole custody of him and he had no contact with his dad following this. His mom continued to do very little to actually parent him, leaving him to largely take care of himself as she dated a number of different men
His mom got remarried when he was about 16, and had a daughter with her new husband when Mark was 17. This is his younger sister, Angelina
Mark was very close with Angelina from the start, with him wanting her to have a better childhood than he did. He ended up stepping up and helping to raise her, with her parents not doing much to care for her
He went to community college and got an associate’s degree before going on to get police training. The idea was that he would be able to step in for situations like Angelina’s and his, helping where they hadn’t been helped
He was in pretty good standing as a cop, though a lot of people saw him as being very by-the-book. He would still end up willing to bend or break the rules in situations where he felt something was unfair, though
As Angelina got older, Mark pretty much cut off all contact with his mom, and Angelina would often stay with him during her breaks rather than go home to her parents
Angelina ended up starting to date a man named Seth after graduating college, with him being controlling and abusive
5 years before the movies take place, Seth was arrested for drug dealing and quickly got off on probation. About a week after that, he and Angelina had an argument when she wanted to go to a going away party for one of her coworkers, and this led to him killing her
Seth was arrested following this, being sentenced to life in prison
Mark was destroyed by the death of Angelina, with her being the only family that he had. He ended up turning to alcohol as a way to try to cope with the pain of losing her, often binge drinking and becoming much more apathetic and moody
Right before the movies started, Seth was released on a technicality. When Mark heard about this, he was furious. Being part of the task force investigating Jigsaw, he ended up kidnapping Seth a month after his release and putting him in a trap, framing this as Jigsaw’s work when the trap was inescapable
Shortly after this, he was found by John, who ended up blackmailing Mark into being his apprentice, with Mark then helping out with the various murders throughout the movies as is shown through the first through 6th ones (I’m mentally revising 3D. We’ll figure that out later tho)

romance & relationship headcanons!
13. what traits does your muse value in a romantic partner?
Kindness, being good with kids or animals, being willing to break the rules with him every once in a while. Good sense of humour and an ability to keep up with him in a fight are a good bonus though not a necessity.
14. what traits does your muse want to avoid when it comes to choosing a romantic partner?
He doesn't have a lot of hard lines in that area... Cruel people and people who are willing to hurt those he loves are only things he would find completely unacceptable. Other than that, he generally isn't interested in people who are too stuck up and/or unwilling to bend the rules even a little bit. And famechasers, of course.
16. what is/are your muse's love language(s)?
He's a very touch-oriented person, so generally he shows love through physical touches, but he's also prone to praising people he loves. And he can show love through doing things for others such as protecting them from being kidnapped or killed or whatever.
In terms of how to show love to him, again physical touch is a very good way to go about it. Complimenting him will also work. Also feed him. He really appreciates that.

odd numbers for kenzo and kazim?
weird numbers
What memory would your OC rather just forget?
A lot of stuff but maybe how he left his husband and the Citadel. Embarrassing
Masyaf times, stuff he's done when he was younger and very edgy
What is your OC's fatal flaw? Are they aware of this flaw?
He's very aware of his flaws, mainly his memory and personality issues, he knows he can be kinda easily manipulated with things he likes but they haven't killed him yet so why bother
He considers a lack of eye his biggest flaw, he compensates by protecting his left side more
How far is your OC willing to go to get what they want?
He would bend the rules but not risk outright breaking it. Or at least overtly
Very far, will abuse his leadership role/being related to a high-ranking officer
What's one way your OC has changed since you first came up with them?
He became sadder and less of an asshole
He's lost plenty of edge in 10 years but he's honestly shockingly similar to what he was before
Do you have a specific lyric or quote which you associate with your OC?
I don't think I have anything for Kenzo
(damn the guilt, my past is dead) / and i wait for the night / shadows protect my angel in white / time to eject these vain parasites / cast out reject the plague in all your hearts ALSO back in black / i hit the sack / i've been too long, i'm glad to be back / yes, i'm let loose from the noose / that's kept me hanging about
What is your OC's weapon of choice? Have they ever actually used it?
Fists, knife, pistol for real emergencies, experienced with all of them
Has a sword he had his best friend sweet cheese rotten soldier steal back for him, also wields a thin little knife like the assassin wristblade, but he just doesn't have it on his wrist he holds it normally
If you met your OC, would the two of you get along?
They're both large intimidating men I don't care for spending time with those. At least they wouldn't try to talk to me either
Does your OC have a faceclaim? If so, who?
Nope, I have like two and a half faceclaims in total of all of them
What is the worst thing you have put your OC through story-wise?
I dropped a building on him and broke his leg and spine, yes I dropped a building on him and broke his head but at least he didn't feel the pain from that. Unlike the leg and back
I killed his daughter and his captain/other half
How does your OC behave when enraged?
Weapons come out, either knife or a nearby bottle he breaks to make it a weapon, snarling, yelling
Cold, knives out someone will die
Does your OC have any illnesses or disorders? How do they handle it?
Addiction, depression, PTSD that is kinda comorbid with anxiety, also deals with chronic pain on the daily. Has prescription painkillers but self-medicates with alcohol. Takes uppers like cocaine to pull himself out of depression slumps
He has PTSD and dealt with deep depression after the whole thing of getting maimed and almost killed, easily slips into those moods. Handles it by taking walks, spending time with friends and family and talking through it with the wife
What emotion is the hardest for your OC to process? How about express?
Doesn't know what to do when scared, goes into fight mode immediately. Gets completely discombobulated if it turns into a panic attack which only makes it worse. Has a hard time expressing love of any kind.
Grief easily turns into anger, also has a hard time expressing sadness without it coming out as him being mad
What is your favorite thing about your OC?
He's a lovable sad bastard archetype, I am predictable. Also his weird fucked up but so incredibly loving relationship but not relationship with Ipes
He's so olldddd but also he's just a good guy?? He loves his parents and brother and his best friend and his wife and kids most of all and is a well-rounded little dude

Hi! gw2 ask game numbers 1, 7, 8, 14 for Tonold!
1 - Your character is now the leader of their species, whatever that looks like for them (Arcane Councilmember, Imperator, Royalty, etc). How do they govern and what sorts of changes would they make if any?
That is going to be a hell of a title. "Blood Imperator Cubguider" ahaha.
Considering Tonold is very by the books, he probably wouldn't really change too much. Though he'd certainly be a lot less 'ambitious' than Ruinbringer.
7 - Do they have any skills or abilities that their class wouldn't normally have/just go about their class differently in some kind of way?
Tonold in my headcanon is sort of a meld of Thief, base Elementalist and Weaver. He's an extremely deft fighter who prefers to use sword and offhand dagger, fighting similarly to a Thief/Weaver cross. But he also imbues his weapons with elements, he doesn't use the dagger as a 'focus' for example, he stabs and slashes with it while it's elementally imbued. Also he can't dual-attune like a Weaver, he only has single attunements. He also uses a staff now and again, but prefers the close combat.
8 - How willing are they to bend/break the rules for their cause (be it selfless or otherwise)?
Tonold is a very by the books man, he has to be, he's trusted with the care of cubs as a primus. He can't risk losing that, he also teaches cubs to follow rules at that too. So simply, he is never one to try bend or break rules.
14 - Biggest misconception about them?
Tonold looks outwardly a very cheery and jolly old charr, he always keeps this up when around people, especially the cubs he looks after. Truthfully though he has a lot of loss locked inside him that he refuses to let anyone know about. He raised three warbands, disregarding the fourth currently under his care. And out of all those cubs only two(three) are still alive, Dinky and Nastazya. (+ Flavia, a gladium who left the legions)
The first warband was killed by humans, the second warband half were killed in Kralkatorrik's Branding, one got turned undead later. (Howl) The third warband joined Dominion and died in combat. And he constantly has guilt on whether he raised them right, if he should have even been a primus.

This thought has been on my mind for ages. Do you think William and Ciel would get along if they met?
Hmmm. That is an interesting query. I feel the best answer I can give is...maybe. You see, on the one hand, Ciel and William actually have a few things in common. Both are master strategists, with keen deductive minds. Both will resort to bending or outright breaking the rules of society and the law in order to achieve their ends. And while each holds certain structures of society in contempt, both are also satisified with living in luxury themselves, and put on all the airs that proper young gentlemen of their standing would be expected to have. Both are also totally willing to sacrifice their souls - quite literally, in Ciel's case - to see that wrongdoers are punished. HOWEVER, the big difference is what they are each fighting for, and how each achieves it. Ciel is a vengeance-seeker; a wrathful individual who can, at times, show his own hypocrisy. Not everybody he victimizes would be someone I think William would approve of, and not all the methods he uses would line up with Liam's. Also, their personalities are quite different: Ciel is a spoiled brat, when you get down to it. He takes a lot of things for granted, and that's part of his character: he's a very selfish person who, despite his mental gifts, often acts out of irrational emotion. He keeps a stiff upper lip in his own way, but he's very petulant and very bossy. He uses his standing for his OWN advantage, not so much for the sake of the rest of the world. William is someone who has come from a low-born place in life and APPRECIATES the comforts and advantages he has, using them to try and make the world a better place. He does not seek revenge, does not feel he is superior to anyone else (at least, not in the way Ciel seems to), and is much more careful with whom he targets and victimizes in his plots. Virtually everything William does is in the pursuit of either furthering his schemes to change the government, or to help other people. Ciel's personal plans are more geared towards either filling his pockets and bank accounts, or getting revenge on those who wronged him. Yes, Moriarty likes a good cup of tea and wears fine clothes, but these are things he will not mind giving up if it betters the universe around him, and he is perfectly capable of taking care of himself. Ciel can't even dress himself, much of the time. In short, William James Moriarty utterly despises the class system and the injustices it causes. Ciel Phantomhive is someone who is a product of that class system. As a result, it's difficult to say what William would think of Ciel: on the one hand, he might see him as someone with whom he shares some common ground, despite the boy's faults. On the other hand, it's entirely possible he would see him as "part of the problem." Ciel, meanwhile, probably wouldn't think much of William, at least at first, but he'd probably deduce that the good professor is not all he seems to be. That's not necessarily a good thing. I feel like, if these two characters met (and I don't know how that would work, considering the ways their respective franchises play out; each has their own separate take on Jack the Ripper, for example), the result would essentially be a "fragile alliance" type of deal. Whatever problems brought these two into contact, they would work together to fix them...but they wouldn't necessarily LIKE each other.

Onni Onni Onni Onni Onni 💖
(this is your ask about Onni I want to hear your thoughts on the lad)
I came to my laptop on my free evening to write and edit fic, but alas, that was when ao3 was down, so I’ll dished this out instead!
This is a little break from the hard-and-heavy Onni content. I’ve got six more Onni asks to work through, so we’ll get back to our analysis shortly.
This is my Onni playlist as it currently stands (I have a playlist for each character that I dump songs with particularly strong vibes in.) I’ll also throw some analysis in :) (as usual, it’s a lot of Sleeping at Last)
Playlist link, then highlight lyrics and description under the cut:
Onni Hotakainen
Wilderness (Sleeping at Last)
dear wilderness, be at your best / her armor is thin as the fabric of her dress / I know the rules: the weaker trees bend / but make her immune / when your temper storms in
This song is Onni’s love letter to Tuuri. He does love her so, so much. Onni knows the world is cruel, he knows that very well. And he also knows he can’t stop Tuuri from running off into dangerous situations. This, combined with Onni’s spirituality... He’s asking. He’s asking the wilderness to go against its instinct, its character.
Bright & Early (Sleeping at Last)
in the end I’m told / it taught me everything I know / that the wreckage left behind / will somehow make me grow / but why couldn’t I have been safe from the start / soundly asleep
Onni wants to grow up. He wants to grow up so bad. But he’s still hurting, and he just doesn’t know how to cope with the hurt. It’s been one thing after another, and in the times of his life where it hasn’t... he’s been fighting for it. Fighting for safety. To feel okay, to look okay, maybe to be okay. All he knows is the pain, and oftentimes the sheer change of healing seems like too much.
South (Sleeping at Last)
if truth is north / then I am true south / I can’t figure it out, god knows I’ve tried / always looking up / ‘til my eyes give up / that’s how I lost touch of who I am / and who I was
Onni’s constant theme is doubt and fear—and reasonably so! He was already predisposed towards anxiety and self-doubt; living in a horrific, post-apocalyptic world didn’t help that. Onni is always looking for solid ground, something to rely on, something outside of himself that’s as dependable as he is. And the world always comes up short. That’s a source of his perfectionism. “We’re not allowed to make mistakes, not under any circumstances!”
Asleep (Sleeping at Last)
if I could choose / watercolor lucid dreams / I’ll paint a future / that I can redeem / for just one precious third of my life / I’m not hypnotized / by the glow of a screen / or the darkness I’ve seen
This is Sleeping at Last’s newest song and I adore it for Onni. It points, tentatively, towards his future. So much of Onni’s life has been lived in rigid, vigilant fear of what lies ahead. The future is as dangerous as the past, and I think the idea that Onni has any real impact on his future is a novel one to him. It’s idealism. However, deep down, I also think Onni believes it; he believes he has a future he can redeem, he just doesn’t know how to go about attaining that.
Boreas (The Oh Hellos)
maybe then my breath could embody / a wildfire starting / I’d sweep up the forest floor / and my body breathe life into the corners / be a darker soil
Boreas is a song where it’s really hard to narrow it down to one verse to highlight. This song was the inspiration for my fic Kindling, Smoke, and Fire. It points to Onni’s unwilling stagnation and also his suicidality. He’s willing to throw it all away if he can just prove to himself that he loves Lalli and Tuuri. All that matters is being that little bit of warmth, because that’s all he thinks he can give.
Fear (Sleeping at Last)
instrumental
What more can I say? I always come back to fear with Onni, and this song so beautifully captures all the textures of it—the exhaustion, the terror, the hope.
Six (Sleeping at Last)
what would it feel like / to put this baggage down? / if I’m being honest / I’m not sure I know how / I want to take shelter but I’m ready, ready to fight
Way back when, I did quick enneagram typings for the main cast and Onni is definitely a six. (If you want I’ve got a whole thing about the Hotakainen enneagrams and how they all responded to the outbreak in different but connected ways.) What I love about Sleeping at Last’s enneagram series is that each song points to the growth of that type. Onni’s strength is his consistency and desire to protect. He’s afraid, yes, but his love really is so much bigger than his fear.
Daughter (Sleeping at Last)
if only you knew / the sunlight shines a little brighter / the weight of the world’s a little lighter / the stars lean in a little closer / all because of you
This song has a similar vibe to Dear Wilderness, but I think this one more broadly applies to both Tuuri and Lalli. Onni can be stifling at times, but he wants Tuuri and Lalli to be at their best. And, quite honestly, in happier and healthier circumstances, I think this song would more clearly represent their relationship. This is Onni at his best—cheering on the people he loves, trusting in their strength, and providing a refuge when they need it.
East (Sleeping at Last)
now I bear little resemblance to the king I once was / I bear little resemblance to the king I could become / maybe paper is paper, maybe kids will be kids / lord, I wanna remember how to feel like I did
It’s easy to forget that Onni is an extremely powerful mage. We don’t know the full extent of his power, but he is good at what he does. But I wonder how much his fear and trauma have forced attention away from his skills and potential. Not only that, but this song points to the happiness Onni once knew—it’s there, and he’s been told it’s attainable, but how does he find it?
Uneven Odds (Sleeping at Last)
I once knew your father well / he fought tears as he spoke of your mother’s health / I guess a part of him just couldn’t return / forgiveness is a lesson he cursed you to learn
This song hits two notes: this is Onni speaking to Tuuri and Lalli, but it’s also the words Onni needs to hear. He doesn’t understand. He doesn’t know where the light is. He hopes to understand one day, and wishes someone would (and could) teach him.
this is me trying (Taylor Swift)
they told me all of my cages were mental / so I got wasted like all my potential / and my words shoot to kill when I’m mad / I have a lot of regrets about that
This song points to Onni’s sharpness as well as his despondence. This song is written for a specific relationship, but it reflects Onni’s general attitude fairly well—he’s tired, he’s worn down, and trying so hard to not be bitter. He's self-aware just enough to know that he's spiraling, but he's also powerless to stop it.
Empty Page (The Crane Wives)
I am an empty page / a muddled shade of paint / I am a light that’s burning out / I am a light that’s burning out
Onni is easily swayed by the world around him. He’s stubborn, yes, but more so he’s reactionary and sharp. And, as with everything else, that reaction comes out of fear, and that reaction only creates defenses—it doesn’t fill the emptiness he feels inside.
The Foundations of Decay (My Chemical Romance)
see the man who stands upon the hill / he dreams of all the battles won / but fate had left its scars upon his face / with all the damage they had done
Another more recent arrival! This song also slid straight into this playlist as soon as I listened to it. This song also points to Onni's suicidality. Onni's been worn down. He's been worn down by the years and the trauma and the grief, and, most times, he just doesn't know how to carry on. He's gone through so much and worked so hard, but now? Was it worth it? What has he gained?
