Okay compiling my most critical opinions on the pjo show so far (episodes 1 & 2)

The Gods' Conflict, Foreshadowing, & Big Three Kids

The show has seemingly dropped a lot of the foreshadowing and threat regarding the gods impending war over the theft of the lightning bolt. In the book, Percy remarks about how the weather's been inexplicably weird and extreme. When he gets to camp everyone is on pins and needles about something and they don't want to talk about it but its still very present. By the time he's claimed as a son of Poseidon and everyone's like "oh fuck" and then Chiron finally explains to Percy that the gods think he's the lightning thief, everything clicks into place for the reader. It all makes sense why everything seems so wrong... because things are wrong. Meanwhile in the show, that doesn't carry through as much, so the reveal of the conflict between the gods and why that's a big deal falls flat in comparison imo.

They dropped/stalled the foreshadowing of the fates and the cutting of the string. They could very well include this in future episodes, and probably will, but I think the timing of it - Percy seeing this before he even knew he was a demigod - again carries some hefty significance and helped set the foreboding tone of things being wrong even from the beginning.

They did drop Zeus's attack on Percy in the minotaur battle completely, which does disappoint me. In the book, its lightning that blasts the car off the road. In the show, Sally seemingly loses control of the car. That change is pretty significant, because it's again losing the power of RR's foreshadowing in the book. The attack on Percy outside the camp borders was a duel attack from Zeus and Hades.

Finally, I don't like the changes they made to Percy's claiming scene, namely, the reaction from the rest of CHB. Percy being a son of Poseidon is a huge deal. When Percy's claimed, the attitude is very much begrudging reverence paired with genuine fear of what it means and what he represents. In the book, Percy is claimed. People gasp. Everyone kneels. Annabeth says, "This is really not good." In the show, Percy is claimed. People... stand there? Annabeth smiles - she's going to get her quest. The only person who has the most outright negative reaction is Luke. I won't go so far to say this is out of character for Annabeth, but it is focusing on an entirely different aspect of her character in the moment, and what the audience gets from Percy's claiming scene here, the tone, is now different from the book. Basically, the reverence and fear don't really carry across to the show, which I think is important.

The phrase "forbidden child" slaps tho.

2. Gabe's Characterization, Sally's Characterization, & Why the Changes do Make a Difference

I'm going to say this with great care: The show has absolutely depicted an abusive relationship between Sally and Gabe. The show has shown Sally to be a strong woman who would do anything for her child. The show has shown Gabe to be a controlling, toxic man.

What they have depicted in the show does not read like the characters and dynamic in the books.

Book Gabe is a violent, menacing drunk. He is so disgusting and vile that monsters avoid him. This is overwhelmingly apparent from the second Percy gets home in the book, even before he is aware of the physical abuse Sally has been facing. Percy has already been dealing with physical abuse from him, amongst other things (edit to be more specific: this is including verbal, emotional, & financial abuse). I've already spoke to it here, in-depth, so I'll try to keep it short but all of this has not been translated accurately to the screen. (Is this to say that a person must be overtly abusive to be abusive? No. But does this character on-screen feel like Smelly Gabe? No.) These things have shaped Percy (and Sally) in very specific ways. As others have mentioned: Percy cannot stand alcohol. He meets Dionysus and is reminded of his step-father. He gets to Tartarus and the air reminds him of Gabe.... The character on screen, while abusive, does not share this presence at all, and that makes a difference.

Edit: To emphasize once more, I am not saying that the show has not depicted a realistic portrayal of abuse. It has (verbal, emotional, & financial so far). It has also distinctly changed the tone and Gabe's presence from the book, to the extent that it no longer feels like the same character and that does have a rippling effect on the dynamics he shares with both Sally and Percy.

3. The Lack of Annabeth

Annabeth in the show is just like... really not as present as she is in the book so far, and I'm just kinda like, why lol?

Annabeth in the books is already way more involved in Percy's life. She was in the infirmary feeding Percy ambrosia after the attack (ulterior quest motives lol), she's the one who lead Percy around camp and re-explained godly parentage to him - and its a moment where she's very sincere with him, and even trying to help him! Instead these moments are given to Chiron and Luke, which I do get the merit of, but still, these were her moments!

Annabeth in the books had already surmised that the gods were fighting, something was stolen, and the something bad was going to happen, all before Percy had even been claimed. And she shared that with him! Again, the loss of foreshadowing and little bonding moments has me :(

I'm a little worried how they're going to deal with her crush on Luke because its pretty central to her character in the books! It helps Luke to manipulate her and also keeps her from admitting he's done something wrong. Also, it was very sweet and funny reading her get flustered - It drove home the point that she was just a kid with a crush that she didn't know how to handle. But in the show Luke spoke to her and I was expecting there to be some sort of reaction to it and there just... wasn't? (This is not something I'm laying at Leah's feet btw! Only the writers/directors!) We're only two episodes in tho so maybe we'll see it some more moving forward.

4. The Minotaur Battle

Again, I've already spoken about this in depth here but !!

The lack of Zeus's lightning strike, them all coming to a standstill and just chatting instead of running for their lives, Grover being awake and just sort of off to the side watching the fight, Sally being like "Promise Me Grover Swear it"... it all just doesn't ring right to me

I wanted more panic, more terror, more urgency. Higher stakes. I wanted Grover unconscious, I wanted to see Percy drag him into camp, and I wanted to see more of Percy's grief alongside his rage. Like the book did.

The pacing in the show here, and just overall, is weird

5. Other Stuff

Mrs. Dodds fight kind of fell flat too. It was honestly too sudden and Percy killing her in the show seemed even more accidental than in the book lol. Like, accidental impalement vs intentional swing of the sword.

They really had show Grover throw Percy to the wolves and not just gaslight him, but low-key have a part in getting him expelled? Not sure how I feel about it tbh.

More New York. I wish we had gotten the part of Percy taking the bus home with Grover included cause like? Him ditching Grover was funny, but it would have been the perfect opportunity to show Percy traveling through New York and establish it has his home. Shots of him looking at the city, walking the streets, interacting with people near his building.. yeah.

More Montauk too tbh. Like more shots of him and Sally on the beach rather than just the cabin.

Nectar and Ambrosia! Unless I missed it, which I might have, why have we still not gotten an onscreen depiction of it yet lmao.

what's the most fucked up thing/AU/whatever you made? I wanna desensitize myself to your work before diving in.

Starting out with saying I wouldn't condone any of the bad shit within my stories, often times these are just what ifs I find interesting to look into. I wouldn't look at an actual murderer irl and go "Awesome" but I'll joke around with my villain Mikey like "He hasn't done a thing wrong heart emoji" when he has actively killed and enjoyed the murder of multiple people.

A lot of my aus are more toned down from my regular more personal works, solely because I can't help but go a bit easier on the turtles since they are a comfort for me and I wouldn't find my more personal topics appropriate for the turtles.

Overall, I'd say body horror, disease, self harm, suicide, murder, and mental/physical abuse/child abuse/neglect is something to look out for in a lot of my works, along with gore and injury in general. I also have a tendency to write cannibalism (an interesting motif to me, I would not condone it irl, obviously) and/or autocannibalism (to cope with personal issues I am not comfortable elaborating on, it's some Mental health stuff.) Overall I like putting the turtles through it, lmao.

I will never directly delve into the topic of sex within my works (as in you'll never see me write any of them doing such acts), but I have a handful of somewhat older Leo's who specifically deal with unhealthy romance, one of these is within my magical boys au where all four experience some level of inappropriateness due to their fame, not once is this a good thing, and this is meant to be a bad thing within the story. The other has a Leo who dates around a lot but always falls short due to his anxieties and commitment issues. He never goes through with it, though he likes to joke about more sexual topics. (He's crude.)

The magical boys au, priorly mentioned, contains underage drinking and smoking, mental health issues, self-harm, and the boys being mistreated and abused within their own workplace, one way or another.

One of my oneshots currently has a younger child get murdered in it, though I've deliberately made the death surrounding it not as detailed, as even if younger children die in my stories it makes me uncomfortable to focus on it the same I would other characters, unless it's an injury a child survives, then it's a 50/50. This is a situation that is conflicting for the main character, but is done out of survival's sake. (In his eyes.)

Viral.Donnie has evolved into a character that focuses on addiction later on, and I do tend to give the turtles addictions depending on the story.

Million Dollar Box/Villain Mikey has hallucinations, vivid, probably not 100% accurate, but these are not his real brothers. Story wise, they are a way to delve into his mental state and look at his conflicting feelings about his family.

Villain Raph is less developed, but he actively is mentally (and physically) abusive to his brothers in his own way.

A lot of the time, my writing style mixes with the thoughts and personality of the main focus, and a lot of these times, the characters are not rational nor moral. Untrustworthy narrators are fun.

You will see I don't like actively splitting up the turtles entirely very much. Normally, I'd be able to do it easily, but I have a soft spot for them. Hell, Viral Donnie, Villain Raph, and Million Dollar Box Mikey's follow-up story gives them a family after losing theirs. Most of the time, if one turtle falls, I take the others, or at least one others with them. For fun.

I try to not go for just shock value, even if I like describing the horrors I like having a reasoning, whether it be some insane deeper meaning I made up, it fitting a character/their personality, or just being interesting for me. I do my best to tag all potentially triggering topics within my works, but I may slip up at times. Apologies for that.

Horror is my main fixation overall outside of TMNT, and I like various types of it. The Nonsense Apocalypse AU is supposed to be a mixture of slice of life and horror, resulting in a world that just doesn't make sense, with some more... serious aspects on top.

I hope this helps, I kinda went on a ramble, but I didn't want too much confusion since most of my actual aus aren't fully out yet in any way.

My thoughts on the 1.2 event so far

I have finished the first available story part to the event and I certainly have some thoughts! It's my first time doing this so I hope I tag/cut everything off properly for people who don't want spoilers; this contains spoilers about the entire first part so wouldn't want anyone to have their experience ruined. With that said...

The overall story: I thought this event was much more enjoyable personally than the Melania and ESPECIALLY the Pickles part. I liked Melania, but the second part was a slog to go through and Diggers frankly irritated me to no end.

As far as story went, I thought this event was much more interesting, and it subverted my expectations several times; I thought the middle/last part was the strongest, though, as far as both story (the filler characters leave relatively quickly) and character development. The early part was nice to set up the mystery and I liked the clue collecting part, though I did wish that it didn't all come down to hallucinogens. Would've been fun to have a bit more tension around the butcher/bride parts.

The later half/end part with the reveal of the true "villain" was quite cool imo; while I started suspecting Anne as soon as she asked Vertin about her wish as it panned on her hands, I'll admit... I didn't connect the dot about Changeling/Jessica lmao. That part that focused on her, together with Blonney, was the best.

The only real gripe I have with the story is the ending; it felt quite a bit rushed imo. I feel like R1999 is very good at setting up story threads and following up on them, but the endings just feel a bit deflated. I thought the same about chap 4, btw, which is also why I wanted to write some more material for it.

Vertin actually cutting to the problem at the roots was quite refreshing too - the "don't leave me" villain stories usually end up with the villain all alone, and her reaching out with facts and logic to convince her was very nice. Loved that part.

The characters: This time around, the characters felt much more fun to follow. Blonney was definitely my favorite character together with Jessica, and the idea of discarding the human characters relatively quickly to advance Blonney's conflict was probably the right choice. I felt like they didn't add anything to the story.

Horropedia's the one that left me the most indifferent, though he wasn't insufferable at all and actually stole a chuckle or two from me. I just think he was the weakest among the arcanist cast.

Tooth Fairy was great; my initial assumption was that she was a really creepy character because of her first story (keeping the bloody tooth of a child you ran over - and assumedly killed before the second part disproved that? Seriously? That and the whole "eating tooth fairies" stuff really unsettled me lol), and while she's definitely not and just a little deadpan, I still think the fact that she eats and makes other people eat living things is enough to warrant at least a raised eyebrow from me. Still, as a character, definitely enjoyed her and her role in the story.

Jessica and Blonney's stories interconnected quite a lot, and I love how it was actually Jessica that began Blonney's arc by convincing her to come out of her shell and giving her the courage to be who she really wanted to be. Blonney was great, really enjoyed her, and Jessica fulfilled her role very well imo.

Btw, props to her English voice actress; some of the lines in her boss fight and after were heartbreaking to hear. Thankfully Jesus Chri- I mean Vertin redeemed her in the end by coming at her from the right perspective, since no one else, not even Blonney, seemed to understand just how much she was upset and confused.

Final thoughts: This event was much more enjoyable story wise; I really liked most of the cast and even the characters that I didn't vibe fully with at least weren't insufferable or even bad. Plus, thankfully no one lost braincells just because they were in a horror type plot. Cool event, cool characters, and nice gameplay as well, enjoying the ice puzzle type minigame and the fights. Shame for the rushed ending but oh well, the final postcard was very wholesome.

If you could indulge me in this little rewrite of Blake's V4-5 arc? What if after Beacon fell Ironwood sent Cordovin to occupy Menagerie to sus out any in-hidding WF, catalysing his paranoia for later volumes and depicting Cordo as an actual scary person. Ghira wants to keep the peace but Blake becomes restless as tensions between Atlas soldiers and the locals grow, and the arc accumulates with a more courageous Blake taking down Cordovin's mech with Sun and Ilia's help.

Tumblr's editor crashed just as I finished typing this and I am willing myself to write it all again from scratch, lmao. This site needs an auto recovery option.

Well this is an AU. I say AU and not rewrite because by definition, it's not following the same plot or the same rules as RWBY, and doesn't pretend to (which makes it even funnier when people complain about it being something it's not pretending to be). Calling it a rewrite implies a strict adherence to canon, which this doesn't have.

But still, I'll add the rewrite tag to this and other future posts simply because a lot of the kind of thing I'm writing overlaps with rewrites and their general philosophy when handling canon.

When you're writing something like this, you're basically asking a question and answering it. Each question shifts the story's divergence from canon by a degree, and when you start moving, the deviation will be enough that even if it travels in a straight line from there, it will never be the same as canon events.

For example, say I ask the question: "What if Team RWBY spent a longer time in Beacon?"

From this, I know that I have to delay the Fall of Beacon, or change its circumstances entirely. What would change about the Fall if Ruby was in her second, third or even last year at Beacon? Would Pyrrha still die if we spend more time exploring her as a character? Where would Cinder be during all this time?

By asking one simple question about RWBY's world, ten other smaller ones pop up that you need to answer, but then you find out those questions lead to entire character arcs, and creating timelines, and making sure the Kingdoms make sense, and now you're reconstructing an entire universe from scratch and hating yourself. /s

So back to your query. I can't answer this meaningfully because if it were up to me, I'd likely just… not have Cordovin at all. Or even Ghira for that matter. Let's look into why.

First, Cordovin. I have to ask myself first, "What does Cordovin contribute to RWBY's story?" Like really? We have to go backwards, from "How do I fit this character in" all the way back to "Do I even need this character?" What is Cordovin's actual role in the story? She's a minor villain - a comical, incompetent one at that - whose only purpose is to be a one-off obstacle in Team RWBY's airship-stealing plan. A plan that was already poorly conceived from the start when better, more sound plans existed but were unexplored by the plot.

So that's multiple strikes against Cordovin. Her impact on the story is low; she has no important relationships with any characters; and her existence is tied to a weak plot point which actually detracts from the story. If she adds little, then the story loses little from removing her, too. We know RWBY has a cast bloat problem, and if someone wants to earnestly solve that problem, that means they have to combine characters or even remove them entirely if the benefit they bring to the story far outweighs the effort to put them in.

The same principle applies to Ghira. This is part of a longer post I wish to write about Blake after this, but how important is Ghira, and by extension Kali, to RWBY's story? How much do they add or take away? Now, depending on your story and preferences, they would indeed be very important. But not to my story, at least not as they are now. And it's not exactly an easy decision to make either - it takes a lot of thought and deliberation, weighing multiple pros and cons against each other.

The fact that compared to Cordovin, Ghira and Kali are more well-liked in the fandom should, ideally, not affect your decision or desire to have a clean house to work from. Put yourself in CRWBY's shoes: when they made these characters, they aren't thinking about if fans will like them or not, they just put them in. I would say they were thinking about how these additional characters would benefit the story they're trying to write, but that implies... thought.

Season 1, Episode 12: Bad Birthday Party

Turns out watching cartoons for hours on end that adds to your isolation isn't good for your mental health, I'm back now though, so hopefully I can get through two episodes today

Oh a legitimate slavery episode, and it's about Zarkon's birthday I think I remember this episode a bit just from the characters I'm seeing

Apparently the prince of the planet is related to Zarkon, I guess that makes sense with Lotor also not looking anything like his dad minus the skin tone There's also a Zarkon statue which I thought was a watch tower but alright, his narcissism knows no bounds

Did they stop trying to make the doomite soldiers into robots for censorship, this one dude feels too much like a person with how he's trying to hog the credit for being a slave driver

Oh smart kid, I didn't catch his name, but he stole a ship from a nearby landing strip while the guards were busy preparing for Zarkon's visit I wonder how they know about Voltron through, maybe one of the guards was careless and told them about him

He crashed in the castle moat, still alive somehow but good for him, he made it The team found his ass floating in the water, again I'm not sure how he got out, but yea ok I'll accept that

Once again are these soldiers robots or people because this guy is acting too smart for his characterization because he's blackmailing the prince so Zarkon doesn't find out they fucked up

Lance knows cultures from other planets apparently, he was spot on from where the kid was from

I think Jai is his name? Anyway the team is debating on helping him because Arus would be defenseless, but Jai limped to the control room to yell at the team for having to even think about it Which worked because now they're on their way lol

Why did Lance suddenly try to punch Keith LMAO, maybe I'll see that reused in a later episode because I swear it happened under different circumstances

Did they try a new preamble for forming Voltron, that did not sound good at all It's nice to see that they form the big guy before any robeast though, they're getting smarter lol

Oooh double robeasts today, their name is Twin Devil Robeasts Beyel and Zebub I laughed when I saw the name, I'm a sucker for puns lol

I forget that both the blue and yellow lions can still move around and use their jaws as support when fighting as Voltron Allura and Hunk just fucking bit the robeasts to throw them off their rhythm

The fight was fun this time around, they tagged teamed the fuck out of Voltron but were eventually taken down together from above lol

Nimon (the planet) is free now but iirc we'll see them again later, also this episode gives me more fodder to throw at Coran when we get to the episode I both hate and love the most

The closing statement from Keith makes me MAD, you'll know why but hhh

I hope you don’t mind me asking but how do you come up with personalities and details for each one of your OCs? I am struggling with my non main OCs (you can answer me in a dm if you prefer)

HIII i don't mind at all, no worries!! you all know i love talking. especially about ocs but just in general too LMFAO

so usually when i create a new oc i already have some ideas for them about how i want to use them in the story or what i want them to be like. this is either based on the role they'll have (with my cyberpunk ocs i tend to decide this with their occupation or if they're family of an existing oc or not) or who i'll end up pairing them with (either just platonically or romantically). i like to keep relationship dynamics in mind when deciding on personality, so that's an approach you could try to use! look at how personalities fit together, or how they can conflict, and how that influences the story and the characters involved :D especially if one personality in this dynamic is already established (because of it being an existing character) it can make things easier!

what i've also been doing for my more recent ocs is some personality tests, i usually use this one, this one and this one and they give me a good general overview of what they're like and i use that as foundation for the rest of their personality :D

what also helps is doing ask games here on tumblr, there's plenty to find in the tags but for easy access i have a lot of them here on my blog :) AND!!!! i also made a big question generator at some point which is still up!! you can find it here and the post about it here if you want to support me <3

another really fun way to develop ocs is to put those mfs in a situation LMAO whether that is an actual scene from the source material or something you came up with yourself, it sometimes really helps to imagine them in that specific scenario and see how they would handle it and what they would do!

backstories tend to come to me in a later stage when i already know a bit more about how an oc is personality-wise. i tend to give a lot of them tragic backstories but also it's really not all that necessary, sometimes it's also very interesting if a character is now very fucked up but then they just had a very normal past; leaves you wondering what went wrong along the way and that can also spark new thoughts for MORE character development >:)

i don't always give ocs a family because that's just so many new ocs added to the BCB (bones cinematic blorboverse) but i've been doing it a lot more recently for my cyberpunk ocs because. i will say. it is a LOT of fun to do LMAO and as i said before, that gives you a lot of opportunity to build your character more!

to give an example for that, vitali's personality can be explained by just who he is now, his status as a fixer and his dynamics with the people around him. but if you look at his family and his past relationship with matvey and nadya (and daniil and roksana too actually) some of his traits suddenly make a LOT more sense and it adds some depth to him which he wouldn't have had without a family. so yeah that's something you can also give a try!

i think the most important thing in it all is to have fun and to not be afraid to retcon information!! both cassidy and aubrey (my latest blorbo) were supposed to be evil corpos and now they're both just some guy and they've become so special to me in such a short period of time, but to get to this point i had to keep tweaking their personalities and there's nothing wrong with that!! in fact it's a lot of fun to see where you started and compare it to where you are now with an oc :)

so yeas that's my thoughts on it all, i hope any of this is helpful to you and also if people have more tips or ideas feel free to leave them in the replies!!

WRITING PROMPTS (FAIR GAME)

I have so many writing prompts just kinda sitting around that I'm probably never going to get to.

SO

I've decided I'm going to post them on here and let ya'll have your way with them. (I'll add to this post on the bottom the links of all the prompts I post—which might be the ship or just a number or something. I cant decide yet.)

INSIGHT: They range from anime (Haikyuu and Bungou Stray Dogs, and Attack On Titan being the main ones) to Harry Potter and The Maze Runner to even Good Omens. Some are also original stories.

The fandom ones (which is most) are shipfics and more likely than not OOC, so if you don't like it: kindly move along.

But, as previously stated, I know I'm probably never going to use them or get around to them, so I thought I'd help out my fellow fanfic community (and even if I do, it's not going to be the same as someone else's story more likely than not so I dont see any harm 🤷‍♂️ plus, sharing is caring right? Lmao). I might also post them on AO3 too. I'm debating.

I have, like, whole stories kinda (= being halfway/barely) planned out and some that are just like, pieces of a story or like a paragraph of something, so those are the kinds of prompts I got. Was taught about the atom bombs in middle school in grave detail with bits of brainwashing and then never learned about it that intensely until now and uhhh just wanted to share some thoughts. (I'm actually trying to cope right now and I feel like blabbering lmao) Trigger for general discussion of the bombs, personal fears and feelings, and mentions of Nazis. Please tell me if I should add more/different tags.

I was very thoroughly brainwashed about WW2 when I was in middle school. No doubt. Full blown "it was a necessary evil" and "Americans are the heros" and "the greatest generation" all taught by an asshole boomer (no literally) who forced me to watch reconstructions of people being vaporized by the bombs (I asked to not participate and he refused).

I genuinely look back on that similarly to how my mom looks back on the similarly brutal education she got. It was traumatizing. After that I just blanked it all out of my mind for years. I got to it in high school but didn't pay much attention and the curriculum didn't go in depth as to not be opinionated or traumatize anyone being forced to read about it against their will.

I've been learning about it again over the last few days out of curiosity, prime timing with a WW2 movie being released, and because I could feel some kind of weird wound in my psyche about those bombs that I wanted to explore.

Something new that has happened is that I'm beginning to comprehend that WW2 actually happened. I was told about it when I was a fucking child as to lessen the impact of how crazy it was. To make it impossible for me to fully process and question it. To make the event sound normal. Later I knew of the horrors of the Nazis, especially cuz some idiots currently decided to bring it up into politics again. I'm not sure if I'll ever fully process any of that honestly. I learned a lot about it in high school, but nothing too crazy.

That bombing tho, and the entire situation of the US relationship with Japan... it's hard to think about. I think it's hard because of that brainwashing. Even if I say I don't like America or whatever, I have to admit that there are some patterns in there that will always need weeding simply due to my education. Ableism, racism, harmful nationalism, disconnect from other countries, all of that doesn't fix itself when you yell "fuck america".

I was initially taught with the American pride ideas. We had no choice, the Japanese were evil savages, and America is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Woo pride for our troops or whatever. I grew up and realized it was all bullshit but I had a sort of... apologist perspective on the horrors. Those people were brainwashed. Those marines thought they were doing the right thing. Those poor Americans just wanted the war to end. They didn't know what that bomb did.

But I only thought that because that's the America I choose to see in the present day. I still talk respectfully to veterans simply because I pity them, and many realized they were duped by the Iraq war propaganda. I give them respect because they didn't deserve to experience that, nor did they want to. I also generally think of Americans as ignorant. They only think these wars are justified because they've been led astray by assholes at the top who want more money. Were all just a bunch of roaches at the bottom of a barrel being swayed by the tides of our upbringing.

This was not how it was in WW2. People were victims of propaganda, but many were truly evil. I liked to imagine people felt shock and fear after the first test, but no. People cheered. People were given medals after dropping the bomb. They had the mushroom cloud and news coverage play on TV and people said "we should bomb them again". They saw survivors years after the event and laughed at their deformities. Americans whined and bitched about the war effort, then took full credit for being good humanitarians after we won. Japanese Americans were treated like less than animals.

The Nazis were just... that shit is enough to give you nightmares for sure. But that evil feels far away. It feels like it's fueled by mythical monsters and misinformed people. Maybe the bombs are only shaking me so bad because it's close to home, but hearing about those bombings makes me feel... haunted. The power of the sun, creation itself, was released and it birthed a thousand demons that still stalk every person even remotely affected. Generations down, it feels like the spirit of some lost soul is looking for someone to blame. As an American, it feels like it must be me. The fact that I knew so many kids in high school who chose the WW2 special courses that unpack those horrors and many still came out as white nationalists reminds me that WW2 wasn't even 100 years ago. The mindset that unleashed the most atrocious horrors upon the earth isn't long dead like I was taught it was. Nor is it in some far off land. I am indeed superstitious, and it makes me afraid of demons disguised as people. When they said learning about this stuff is enough to make you feel like half of a human for an afternoon, they weren't kidding.

I saw the bloomtober prompts but i cant draw so i just want to ramble and brainstorm for the 4th day prompt, bloomsona cause i never gave it much thought before lol

When I played BP I just made my user arya.ri cause arya/aria (not my irl name) is what i use for my self insert MC in all games but its also my pseudonym for all my fandom focused socmeds. It did not occur to me that i couldve been kicked out the moment i joined the server because of that lmao

So, MC real name: Aria. Server username: bluebunni (my old cringey twt @). The server calls her Bunny or Bun.

Age: 25, birthday is march 22nd.

Height: 5'4 / 163.5 cm (the .5 is very important, do not argue with her)

Appearance: tan skin, chubby round face, almond shaped dark brown eyes, long black wavy hair down to her chest, curvy figure and slight chubby. (Maybe I'll make a picrew ref later)

Despite being pretty young among the adult members she's basically Quest 2.0. Gives off very strong mom friend energy and naturally ends up helping Quest "herd" the server. First time joining the server she was very polite and sweet to everyone, pretty similar to quest but she's good at matching everyone's energy. You will only see her aggressively throw swear words when she's talking with xyx and Toasty. She adores june and two2 and considers them like her younger siblings. In general the server loves her caretaker like personality but eventually they could see that she puts other people too much sometimes and almost always never let anyone else be concerned about her for a change Basically shes emotionally unavailable and is too afraid to let herself get attached or commit to a relationship/friendship because she naturally assumes everyone will leave her eventually

Bur after some time and a lot of heart to heart conversations she does eventually let herself be more vulnerable and honest with her feelings. Everyone is incredibly proud of her.

what is Universe 1 and Universe 2

two separate worlds/stories!!! Universe 1 is the main one, which I've been working on since I was like 14. Inspired by some posts in the tag. Was there ever a moment where it actually hit how fucked up some of the shit that's happened to u was

There's been quite a few, it's definitely more of a process than just one "oh fuck" moment. This is probs gonna get long so I'll just give you some of the biggies so far (I'm fully expecting them to keep happening rip)

1. The first anniversary of Jennas coronation. Milo thought a fun thing to add to the celebration would be some fireworks he'd found travelling somewhere. at the time none of us had seen them before so from his description we just thought they were cool lights in the sky. When it turned out they sounded exactly like gunshots it got less cool very quickly. Jen and Marcia had a bit of a scare and jumped but could work through it to watch them. I ended up panicking so much that I accidentally Transported myself back to the wizard tower and barricaded myself into my room because as far as I was concerned I was being shot at. Finally calmed down (mostly) the next day and had a very definite realisation that being shot at shouldn't be a normal part of anyones life let alone a child's. Ended up staying with Marwick for a couple of days because everyone else was very understanding but they didn't really get that it wasn't just bad memories of one event but constant repeated exposure to it. Spent a good while after that in fight or flight mode which I think was made worse by the previous year being pretty calm and uneventful so it was a Big step backwards.

2. William being born. Not much to say about this one. He was born, I realised how small children are and then realised that if anybody tried putting him through what I went through I think I'd kill them. Big step towards accepting that everything was fucked up rather than me just being bad at dealing with it

3. Rose's first time dealing with someone dying in the Sick Bay. There was an elderly wizard that passed in the sick bay a few years ago. It was about as good as dying can get - it was peaceful, painless, and her family were there with her as it wasn't unexpected. Rose had to help deal with the body afterwards and she later came to me half upset, half freaking the fuck out. I could understand why she was upset but didn't get why she was so freaked out by seeing a body (particularly one with no injuries or anything). I straight up said to her "I don't understand, surely it's not your first time seeing a dead person?" and I was very promptly informed that it was in fact her first time and that most 16 year olds have never seen a body. We then ended up freaking out for each other, me because oh my god she'd never seen a body before is she okay and her because oh my god how many bodies has he seen is he okay. I think we understood each other a lot more after that which maybe wasn't a good thing lmao

4. Turning 18. Way back in the young army me and marwick made a deal that if we both made it to 18 alive we'd take the day off (which you were allowed to do in the actual Army) and buy a big cake and eat it all to ourselves. Actually turning 18 really got to me because a) I made it to 18 when I never really expected to, b) we were children fully expecting to die so young and we thought that was normal, and c) its so sad that the most radical, exciting, out there dream we could think of at 8ish years old was a day off and eating some cake. We both realised how fucked up that was, young army wise as well as everything that happened after to stop us thinking we'd live that long. We kept the deal though - i bought a 3 tier wedding cake which was too big to move easily so we just sat in the alley next to the shop to eat it. Sobbing into that piece of cake was a big moment of letting go. Of all the stuff I've talked about here, this was the only one that was truly cathartic.

#theres so much else to go along with this but these are the big ones #had a nightmare dealing with finishing my apprenticeship #first time in my life i didnt have my next step planned out for me #beyond becoming EOW at some point #and i really couldnt cope with that well #fucked up that beyond the holidays marcia made me take I'd never had any time Not working #also i once got invited to a costume party where you had to go dressed as what you wanted to be when you grew up #that messed me up because i never even thought about it before becoming marcias apprentice #people had dreams? weird #and even with all this its mostly just me realising that the YA was fucked up #feel like i havent even started processing the simon stuff and the marcellus kidnapping stuff and the queste and the syren and rimg wizards #spent so long after the two faced ring was destroyed just relieved that it was all finished #before stuff like this started happening and i actually had to deal with it for the first time #and im not in survival mode anymore so i cant just power through #definitely gets worse before it gets better #but im learning to cope #im not having panic attacks and flashbacks at seemingly random things and nightmares every day now which is something i guess #thanks for the ask btw it was therapeutic to get it all out #sorry its so long
