Soulmates AU in which your soul is bounded to your soulmate's soul.

What does that mean exactly? That when you die, if your soulmate is still alive you can't move on. Instead your soul is stuck by your soulmate's side until they die too, so the two souls can become one in death. Depending on how strong the bond between the two is, one could see (and even interact!) with their deceased soulmate.

Now this but, you know by now, JeanMarco. With Marco waking up and the first thing he saw was Jean's terrified face while looking at the dead body- Marco's half eaten dead body. He learns it pretty quickly that he can't leave Jean's side, bound to follow his best friend around. He also learns that is possible for Jean to see and hear him during the ceremony of burning the fallen soldiers during Trost ; it lasted so little, too little for all the things Marco wanted to say. If he knew Jean was listening from the beginning, he would've started with exposing Reiner and Berthold right away. By the time he took notice that not only Jean was looking at him, but listening too, it was too late. Every other word from him was meet with silence, unheard by the living.

Isn't until the 57th expedition outside the walls that Marco learns that he can interact with Jean too, touch him. In his panic after Jean's failed attack on the Female Titan Marco didn't think and went straight to his best friend's side, touching his shoulder while looking for any injuries. Jean's eyes went straight to the place Marco's was touching, looking confused- until he followed the arm and saw Marco in front of his very own eyes. And just like everything, it lasted too little for Marco's liking. The Female Titan took hold of Reiner, crushing him in her hand, and Jean could no longer see him.

It was later, much much later than either of them would've liked, for Marco to understand how everything works. To know that he could only interact with Jean when his mind was filled with thoughts of Marco. By then Jean already began to move on, the secret of Reiner and Berthold's true selves already out. So Marco could only watch, unable to be there for his other half- for Jean.

And it was when they saw the ocean for the first time that Marco understood why he was truly stuck by Jean's side. When he saw his best friend having fun with the others and realized just how much he loves him. When he realizes that all he truly wants is to be by Jean's side, the way they promised each other to do during their training days.

Y’know for that good ol’ classic soulmate AU where the last words of your soulmate are transcribed on your body:

Jean would have “we haven’t even had a chance to talk this through,” and I think about that a lot.

The truth is, Jean has two theories.

First, he suspects his soulmate could be murdered during an argument. He hates that line of thinking, so he doesn’t overthink it. There’s no way he would ever hurt Marco during a fight, so he doesn’t trust that theory.

He unconsciously never ends a conversation first, lets Marco speak about whatever he wants for as long as he wants, just in case. Because another tiny, dark piece of him worries that maybe one day something will happen, they’ll argue, yes, but he’ll leave during an argument, and Marco’s last words will be to him. About him leaving.

When Trost happens, he’s relieved, because there’s no way Marco’s last words will be about ‘talking it through’ with a titan, right? So, he’s going to be fine. Marco’s the seventh best soldier of the 104th. He’s a nerd, he knows titan’s don’t speak or think, so there’s no way his last words will be pleas to a titan.

Then Trost really happens.

And Jean is left wondering if maybe Marco had been so desperate that he’d try to talk to a titan in his final moments.

Then he rationalises it. Thinks of Armin’s theory about the armoured and the colossal…

When the female titan appears, both Erwin and Armin are certain that the shifter has to be a soldier, a cadet, even.

And the little words on Jean’s skin the ones that taunt him at night start to make more sense. And he’s furious.

(No, we wont be talking about the possibility that Jean didn’t know Marco was his soulmate until he asks Reiner and Annie what his final words were at the campfire. No I refuse.)

Hello everyone and welcome! I'm like many right now losing their jobs due to Covid 19. I have a small amount in savings, but not quite enough, and I'm not sure when unemployment is going to start. So, in the meantime, I'm going to be opening up fanfic commissions. I realize it's tough for everyone, so if you can't commission me or donate to my Kofi, a reblog would be helpful!

Once I've received your first half of the payment,I will begin writing. I'll keep you updated, and if you request, I can send you snippets or the rough draft. I'll let you know once the fic is completed and beta read. The second half of the payment will be due, then I will email you your fic.

Imagine a soulmate au where whenever your soulmate listens to music, you can hear it too and the only way you can find them is when the music they’re listening to gets louder the closer you are to them.

Imagine a soulmate au where you can taste the things that they are eating or drinking and the only way you can find them is to find the places that serve that same kind of food or drink they’re eating/drinking.

Imagine a soulmate au where the heart in your chest is your soulmate’s and you can feel whatever they’re currently feeling and the only way you can find them is when it stops beating. Kind of like taking the “When I first met you, I swear I could feel my heart stop beating” literally.

Imagine a soulmate au where your level of talent at a hobby determines on how close you are to your soulmate.

Imagine a soulmate au where your dreams are a mixture of your soulmate’s past and present memories and the only way you know that you’ve met them is when you see yourself.

Imagine a soulmate au where everyone is given a book at birth with no pages in it and the only way the pages begin to magically appear is when they are finally born. Each chapter is linked to your soulmate’s age and the pages within that chapter represent a day of their life with a small collection of things that they have said throughout the day. The only way you will know that you’ve met your soulmate is when the pages stop appearing and the last thing that was said on the last page is actually the first word or sentence that they said to you.

Imagine a soulmate au where you’re given a necklace that changes to the colors of what they’re currently feeling and the temperature is linked to how close you are to them. For example, nothing being very far away, cold being closer, and warm being they’re right in front of you. But, whenever they take the necklace off of them, the connection is lost and you won’t know what they’re feeling or if you’ve even met each other.

Today on "Another JeanMarco Soulmate AU absolutely no one asked for" I present to you -

Soulmate AU in which you stop seeing colors when your soulmate dies, the only exception being your soulmate. Now cue to Jean who just found Marco's, his best friend's, body. And you know, there's the shock of finding out Marco's dead. The pain and confusion and guilt. But there's also the revelation, because despite everything he can still see Marco like nothing took place at all- yes, half of his face is missing and his body is straight up lifeless, but Jean can still make out the color of his eye ; see that light shade of brown perfectly, remember all the times he has found himself looking at them while listening to Marco talk. He can still make out the colors of his uniform, see the same shade of black his hair has always had, practically see. Despite being dead, Marco was the only piece of color left in his life.

And there's denial for a moment because there's no way Marco was his soulmate. But that goes away fast, getting replaced by guilt. By the fact that he hasn't been there to save him, that Marco has to die all alone without anyone being there for him.

And that was worse than the simple fact that he could no longer see colors ; because Marco was there when Jean needed him, but he failed to do the same. And not only he lost his best friend that day, but his other half too.

#Anyway this fucker doesn't tell anyone about the whole soulmate thing. Not of shame of anything but because he's mourning man and also is no #One's business. Anyway the first one to find out is Armin because he notices and ever since he makes sure to mention colors as often as he #can. Like 'These flowers are a nice shade of red' or 'Green suits you well Jean! You should wear this shirt' stuff like that #Jean does appreciates it once he gets over his ego and pain and lets other people get closer to him #Funny enough Jean is the only one in that situation loool. Well I don't know about Reiner and Historia is getting there soon enough but #everyone else??? Colors everywhere man #Is both funny and sad #'Since when..?' Jean expected that question yet he wasn't truly ready to answer it. Deep down he knew he was never going to be ready for it #'Trost' his voice stains sightly while naming the city. His own city. The place he grew up in all his life. The others say nothing else #after that confession. They were all aware many has died during Trost. It wasn't that far fetched for Jean's soulmate to be some civilian #lost during the evacuations or something. But then Connie's eyes widen ever so sightly the realization sitting in. He doesn't even register #when he says 'It was Marco right?' and regrets it immediately. Jean's painful face is all the answer they needed #Also Historia ready the letter and the world losing colors while she's doing that??? Her tearing up a little but not letting herself cry #until she gets alone???? Her going to Jean once that happens and them comforting each other????? #They starts seeing colors again once Eren dies. HOW OFTEN DO YOU WRITE?

A few times a week, usually. I get burnt out pretty quickly and I still prefer consuming stories to creating them, so I tend to work in bursts. Sometimes just a few hours, sometimes a couple of days in a row, where I crank out a few thousand words or more and then do nothing for a few days up to a week or two, sometimes. 

DO YOU HAVE A ROUTINE FOR WRITING?

Not really, it’s pretty dependent on the child I live with. She likes attention - as most kids do - so I can pretty much only work while she’s sleeping. So if I have the energy for writing I squeeze it in during her naps or at night once she’s in bed. 

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE KINKS/TROPES/PAIRING?

Oh I think in general I don’t like the style I write in. Like, okay, that piece of advice that floats around all the time says “write the story you want to read.” The problem is that the style of writing I most like to read is not one I emulate or pull off well. So, y’know, I go back to read most of my stuff and don’t like it as much as I wish I did because it never comes out the way I hope it will. 

NOW SOMETHING YOU DO LIKE (ABOUT YOUR WRITING)?

Descriptions. I like that I can describe settings and sensations fairly well (at least I hope so), that maybe I can get the beautiful images and scenery in my head on paper in such a way that the readers can see it too.
