Chapter 13: Cloudy Skies

A/N: I love these four so much. This is a bit of a day or week in their life.... More plot coming in the next chapter.

The front door slams shut. You huff and stomp your way further into the apartment leaving three confused alphas in your wake. They can feel the mixed emotions through the bond but you don’t seem to be in a talking mood. Loud music comes from the ensuite bathroom in the shared bedroom so the boys know you’re going to be in there a while.

“I’ll text Jonah and Ricky to see if something happened.” Sam mutters as he pulls his phone out of his pocket.

“I’ll go check up on her.”

“And I can start dinner. I’ll make her favorite.” Bucky offers before all three of them split up to do as they said.

Sam and Bucky watch as Steve heads toward the shared bedroom. The ache in their chest doesn’t seem to lighten up though and they worried that someone might have hurt you.

“Ricky and Jonah said that work was really busy. Maybe she’s just overwhelmed.”

“Hmm, maybe.”

“Come on, let’s get dinner started.” Sam says as he moves towards the kitchen.

A few minutes later Steve joins them with a defeated look on his face.

“She just said she needed some alone time.”

“Well work has been busy for her.”

“Ok, so then let’s just try and give her a relaxing evening.” Steve says. Bucky and Sam nod their heads in agreement.

Eventually you come out of the bathroom dressed in their coziest clothes. Instead of sitting at the dinner table the boys had brought dinner to the living room. You gave them a little thank you and wrapped yourself up in a blanket before getting comfortable in Sam’s lap. They give each other concerned looks but still try to give you a nice night. You end up eating a little while watching an episode of your favorite comfort show and falling asleep before it’s over.

The same thing happens for the following two days.

Bucky, Sam and Steve get out of the car in front of your job. They’re determined to figure out what exactly is going on at work so that they can better help you at home. If they find out that someone is making your life difficult they’ll deal with whoever it is too.

“You three, come over here.” Mrs. Levy calls them over from her place at a bench. She has her signature scowl in place as she watches all three men head in her direction.

“Mrs. Levy.” Steve says with a small nod.

“You must be Sam.” She looks straight at him.

“Yes ma’am.”

“Hhmm, I would have preferred to meet you before you sunk your teeth into Y/N’s neck but oh well. I’ll still give you the same talk I gave these two.” She motions towards Steve and Bucky as if they weren’t super soldiers that could handle anything thrown at them. “You better not hurt her, you hear me. And neither of you better get all controlling alpha on her either. You know she’s a tough cookie but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have people that care about her.”

“I would never dream of it. It’s actually why we’re here. Y/N’s come home upset and we’re trying to figure out why so that we can help her.”

“Yeah, the end of the summer programs tend to get overwhelming for everyone. I bet it can’t be easy for her when she’s also dealing with being a new omega and being bonded recently. Just make sure she has her favorite things for her nest.”

It was like a lightbulb went on at the same time for all three of them. They felt dumb not realizing what it was you needed until now.

“We absolutely will. Thank you Mrs. Levy. Now if you’ll excuse us we would like to take Y/N out to lunch.” Bucky says.

“Remember what I said. You take care of her.”

“Yes ma’am.” All three of them say in unison before going inside and taking you out for lunch.

“Surprise.” Steve says as he pulls his hands away from your eyes. He had ambushed you at the door and covered your eyes until he took you further into the apartment.

You blink slowly a few times as you look at what you’re being shown.

“An empty room?”

“Your empty room.” Bucky says as he stands to your left leaving Sam to stand to your right.

“Ok?”

“Well it’s yours.”

“Thank you?” You turn to look at them, still confused. “Did you want me to clean it or something?”

“What? No. It’s for you to do what you like. It’s the room you had your first heat with us in so we thought you might like to make it yours.”

“Isn’t this your personal room Steve?” You say as you walk in and take a look around.

“I took my things and I’m going to redo the study since I’m usually in there the most. We just wanted to give you a space that was just for you. You can do whatever you want with it and we can’t come in unless you ask us to. Or if there is an emergency.”

“Really?” Your eyes seemed brighter immediately and they now know how dumb they had been for not realizing sooner. What you had needed was an alpha free space. Somewhere you could relax without the overwhelming presence of anyone. Most omegas had a room like this.

“Yup. And even more importantly we’re going to take you shopping tomorrow so that you can get anything and everything you want for your room.”

“You’re kidding.”

“We wouldn’t joke about this, sweetheart. We want you to be happy and comfortable, this is your home too. ”

You launch yourself into Steve’s arms and bury your face into his chest as you thank him, then repeat the same actions for Sam and Bucky.

“This is perfect, I can close out my lease at the apartment and just finish bringing my stuff over.” You murmur as you turn back to the room and start making plans. First you call Jules and Wanda and they agree to meet you in about an hour to help you plan what you should do with the room and what you’ll need.

“What about a bed?” Bucky asked as you walked through the store focused on omegas and their needs.

“It’s on my list and they have one here I want to check out. It’s circular. Just imagine all of these pillows and blankets on it. I’m going to make it so comfortable.”

Bucky smiles as you walk ahead with the cart that’s already half full of pillows and blankets. He tracks your movement through the store as you stop by Steve who shows you something he had been holding. You scrunch your nose but shake your head and then kiss his cheek so that he doesn’t feel bad. Next you make your way over to Sam who holds up a diffuser. You nod and Sam places the item in the cart.

The three alphas are more than happy to follow you around the store like love sick puppies. Grabbing everything you point at. When you get to the register they don’t even let you think about paying for a single item, they handle everything. The car ride back to the tower is filled with ideas and requests for help with putting everything together. You’re seated up front while Steve drives and Bucky sits in the back with Sam. You miss the way their eyes light up as you pull up another inspiration picture on Pinterest. How their smiles are soft as they agree to do whatever it is you ask of them. The fondness and love within the bond that connects the four of you as mates soothes your soul.

After a few days of painting and moving and organizing your room, your nest is finished. It’s perfect in every way and it looks better than you had imagined. There are various shelves for all of your current and future books. The bed is a pile of soft and delicate pillows and blankets arranged in a way that provides the most comfort. It also helps that you took some of your alphas’ shirts and hid them in there. You also have a reading nook against the floor to ceiling window.

Seeing everything in its place exactly how you wanted it to be and knowing that it’s all yours causes some emotions to come bubbling up. It was so sudden it almost knocked you off your feet as you began to cry silently. Just as suddenly as the wave of emotion hits you, your alphas are at the door to your room. The feeling is too much for them to handle and they open the door but don’t come in. They don’t have to since you rush towards them and bury your face in someone’s chest.

“Are you ok?” Bucky asks as he runs a hand up and down your back in an effort to soothe you.

“I’m sorry.” You say between sniffles. “It’s just so much.”

“What’s so much sunshine?”

You just motion back to the room that’s filled with the things they’ve bought you and some of the things from your apartment.

“Do you not like it?” Steve asks cautiously as you move to wrap your arms around him next.

“I love it, it’s just no one’s ever given me so much. It’s always been me looking out for myself. I mean Jonah and Ricky have been there since day one but no one has ever done this for me. Nobody has ever cared this much.”

You don’t need to say who you were referring to. It’s always been obvious to them that you’ve never had a constant protector in your life. Now there are three.

“I know this is still all new to you and you’re still figuring yourself out but we hope one day you see that we’d give you the world if that’s what you wanted.” Sam says as he comforts you.

“I know that. It’s just difficult to accept sometimes. I was made to feel like I didn’t deserve anything.”

Sam places his hands on your cheeks and tilts your head back. He leans down and kisses you softly.

“You deserve everything. Not just the things in your room but all the love and care and attention.”

“And we’re going to give you all of that and more.” Bucky adds. “You’re just going to have to get used to it, Moonbeam.”

It had been a few days since your nest had been finished, the words your alphas had said played over and over. They were willing to give you everything you wanted but still there were times when it was difficult to ask for something. Your first instinct was to not say or ask for anything but you had to be open to change. You found your alphas hanging out in the living room.

You clear your throat to get their attention. When their eyes are on you, you give them a small smile.

“So, every year at work they have an end of the summer party. Well it’s like a party and a fundraiser event at the same time to try and raise money for events that will happen during fall and winter. It’s next Friday.” You inform them. “I mean I understand if you have missions but if you don’t I’d like you to go with me.”

“You wanna show us off, sweetheart?”

“Maybe.” You smile as you move to sit on Steve’s lap. “So?”

Steve looks over at Sam and Bucky who nod.

“Of course we’ll go.”

“This is going to be great.” You kiss Steve’s cheek and get up. “Jonah told me he was going to ask Wanda to go with him. Now I’m gonna go and figure out our outfits.”

Word quickly got to Tony about your job’s small fundraiser and he reached out to your boss Mr. Burke to make the most of the event. He seemed impressed that you knew Iron man and you realized that he had no idea how many times your mates and Avengers came by the lobby of the community center.

Friday night had rolled around and you had your arm hooked around Bucky’s. The ballroom of the hotel Tony had chosen was decorated in such a beautiful and elegant manner that it had your jaw on the floor. It was definitely far nicer than any end of the summer party your boss had tried to put together. Then again most of the guests were very wealthy people and before you even arrived at the venue your boss’ secretary had messaged you that the community center had surpassed the donations goal. It was great news because that meant that more programs could be held during the fall and winter months and more families could be helped too.

“This is amazing.” Your eyes travel from the people to the venue.

“You should see what Tony can do with more prep time.”

“Mr. Burke would lose his mind if Tony had more time.” You lean into Bucky as you talk.

“I think he’s losing it at this very moment.” He nods toward the direction of your boss who is shaking hands with the Mayor.

Mr. Burke nods and smiles and has no problem talking the Mayor’s ear off, poor sap. It makes you smile though, the community center does a lot of good work and it deserves to be recognized. Bucky leads you to the bar where Ricky, Jules and Jonah are ordering drinks.

“Jules you look amazing.”

“So do you.” She says as she gives you a quick hug.

Wanda soon joins you and everyone begins to have a small conversation. Then Sam and Steve join. It was just the beginning of the evening but you knew this would be the best party the center has ever had.

Your alphas take turns dancing with you. First Sam then Steve and now Bucky. He swayed with you. A dopey grin on his face as you stared into each other's eyes. You hum along to the song but Bucky is so into it. He sings along happily but only loud enough for you to hear.

“Just the two- four of us. We can make it if we try.” Bucky mumbles with a chuckle. “Just the four of us. You and I…and Sam and Steve.”

You laugh as Bucky dips you and pulls you back up. The song ends as you pull Bucky in for a kiss. Then he escorts you off of the dance floor. You lean into Steve once you reach him. Steve along with Tony and Nat are having a conversation with Richard and Jules.

“You ok, sweetheart?” Steve whispers into your ear.

“Yeah.” you look up at him and smile. “I’m more than ok. Are you?”

“Just a bit tired but I’m good.”

“We should get out of here then.”

“No, I don’t mind staying a bit longer.”

You smile and look around and shake your head. “We should go anyway.” You nod toward the hallway where the bathrooms are. Sam is pulling Bucky by his tie into the darkened hallway as they kiss. Steve rolls his eyes but takes your hand and leads you down the same hallway.

“Let's go get them and leave before they get banned from this place forever.”

You giggle as you follow Steve through the crowd. Following Sam and Bucky’s intertwined scent is easy enough and soon Steve stops around the corner of where Sam has Bucky pushed up against a wall as they make out. Steve brings you to stand in front of him and you both lean forward and watch as Bucky and Sam get handsy with each other.

“Don’t they look so good together, sweetheart?” Steve whispers in your ear. It sends a shiver down your spine as you nod. “They can’t keep their hands off each other. What do you think they would do if they saw us watching them like this?”

Steve’s hands sit on your hips as he pulls you back against him. He kisses you from your shoulder to his mark on your neck. His hands slowly bunching up the skirt of your dress and then disappearing into your panties. Your eyes flutter closed as you whimper at the contact of Steve’s finger on your clit. When you open them again you meet the darkened eyes of Bucky as he watches you and Steve. He murmurs something and soon Sam looks in your direction.

As quickly as he started, Steve stops. You whine at the loss but he’s moving again and taking you with him. Sam and Bucky are right behind you. Soon enough the four of you are in a conference room. Steve pulls you up onto the table but it’s Sam that kisses you until you’re breathless. Bucky focuses on undressing you and giving attention to your breast. Behind him Steve and Sam are sharing a kiss of their own. It always turns you on to see your mates together like that. It didn’t help that they knew this and loved to put on a show for you.

The mixed scents of the four of you is intoxicating as it fills the room. Steve slots himself between your legs and pulls you closer. Next to you Sam and Bucky were already semi undressed. It wasn’t uncommon for the four of you to get wrapped up in each other. Just four people chasing pleasure and a connection deeper than physical.

It was total bliss as Steve thrusts into you and Bucky kept your moans and his quiet with a kiss. Sam groaned from behind Bucky, his forehead resting against Bucky’s back as he rolled his hips. Soon enough you tense as your orgasm washes over you. Steve follows shortly after with a few stuttered thrusts. He leans forward and captures your lips with his.

“You were so good for me.” He mutters against your lips.

“We should go before someone finds us.”

“You must be joking.” You say as you look at Bucky, still breathless. “My legs are jelly.”

“Yeah, Steve tends to do that.” Sam chuckles as he starts to get redressed and then helps Bucky.

With a groan you sit back up but you wouldn’t change the delicious ache you feel between your legs. Steve helps you fix your dress up. With lasting touches and giggles the four of you sneak back out to the party. Sam pulls you back onto the dance floor.

“I can’t wait to get you home ‘mega.” Sam whispers against your ear.

“Mmm, maybe we should leave.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah, I don’t think it would take a lot to convince Steve and Bucky.” You reply and you both look over to them and they’re all over each other.

“Let’s go get them.”

You take Sam’s hand and you make your way through the crowd. When you get to the other two alphas you tell them how you would really like to go home and they all but sprint to the front doors. Hand in hand with Sam you follow them. You were more than ready to spend the rest of the night in a tangled mess with your filthy alphas.

A/N: so something that I always see in stucky x Sam series is that Bucky and Steve’s trauma is always addressed or mentioned but we never really see that for Sam. We’re going to take a look at that a bit here and the little ways stucky x reader help Sam!

“Focus.”

“I am focusing.” You shoot back at Bucky.

You really weren’t. Not when he was standing in front of you with no shirt on, some slutty shorts and sweaty. You couldn’t help but watch the way his abs, chest and arm flexed as he moved.

“Yeah, my eyes are up here, darling.”

You rolled your eyes before looking up at him. A mischievous glint in your eye and smile to match.

“I’m paying attention now, alpha.” You call him by his destination which always gets him riled up.

“Behave omega. You have to be able to defend yourself. I know Steve gave you a lesson or two but I want to make sure you can really protect yourself if we’re not around.” He was serious but there was also a bit of pleading in his voice.

“Ok, I’m sorry. You’re right.”

“Now, if you do a good job you’ll get a reward.”

“What am I 5?” You quip.

Bucky walked up to you, crowding your space. His face was unreadable and then he leaned down and whispered all the filthy things he’d do to you if you got the next move right.

“Oh.” You felt heat rush to your face and slick ruin your underwear. “Ok.”

Bucky smirked before he stepped back.

“Alright, let’s do this.”

He moved towards you, faster than you anticipated but you ducked under his arm and then kicked his ribs.

“Good. Next time, hit harder.”

“But I don’t want to hurt you.”

Bucky chuckled. “You won’t be able to hurt me, darling.”

“Fine. I’ll hit you harder.”

Bucky lunged forward even quicker than last time. Again you ducked under his arms and put some real force behind your kick. He stumbled and sucked in air sharply.

“Ok, maybe you can hurt me. That was a damn good kick.” He says proudly.

“I’ve been working on my kicks with Sam.”

“You know what this means right?”

“What?”

“It’s time you get your reward.” Bucky says as he walks to you and then tosses you over his shoulder. You can only laugh as he carries you out of the gym.

Since your heat and their ruts the four of you have been insatiable and inseparable. You loved to be on your knees for Sam. In between his thick thighs and bringing him pleasure with your mouth. He was breathtakingly beautiful as he moaned your name. Bucky loved to eat you out anywhere he seemed fit. He’d lay you down on the table and have you legs over his shoulders. It didn’t surprise your other mates anymore, they just joined in. If it wasn’t at the table, Bucky would pull you into whichever room was the closest and he’d have his way with you there. Steve loved to bend you over any surface and take you. If it wasn’t that he was pinning you against the wall, your legs wrapped around his waist as he pounded into you. It didn’t matter where or when, they had to have you and you didn’t mind one bit. The others in the tower did and they limited your access to certain floors to avoid any accidental discoveries of you and your alphas in compromising positions.

You didn’t care though. The whole situation made you realize how much they had been holding back just because you were there. Now though it didn’t matter you were happy and so were they.

Things couldn’t be better.

“So How are things going with you?” You asked Bruce as he handed you a pillow.

“Everything’s fine.”

“Just fine?”

“Yeah, work keeps me busy. We’ve been able to add a lot more information to the people with no designation thanks to you.”

“A certain alpha is trying to court him.” Wanda adds from her side of the living room.

“Oh, who’s courting you?”

“Natasha. But Bruce here is being stubborn.”

“But she’s so hot.” Jules says as she lays down a blanket. “If I weren’t with Ricky, I’d totally let her court me.” She giggles.

“Same.”

“Me too.”

You and Wanda say at the same time.

“Male omegas are just more hard headed when it comes to courtships with a female alpha. They’ve been told all their life that men should only be alphas and women should only be omegas. It’s bullshit.” Jules ranted as you continued to turn the living room into a giant nest. One that would fit the whole team plus a guest or two.

“I say you take it slow and see where it goes.”

“Hulk likes Nat, she’s the only one that can calm him down.”

“Really?” You turn to look at Wanda.

“Yeah, she even has this cute little lullaby she sings for him.”

“Ok that’s enough about me. Jules is right. Being a male omega isn’t easy, it didn’t help that my father was absolutely disappointed and disgusted when I presented.” Bruce admits.

“Oh, Brucey!”

“I think this calls for a group hug.” Jules announces.

The three of you are on Bruce before he can protest. All he can do is stand there in a pile of blankets and pillows and accept the affection. After a few seconds though he’s preening under the attention.

“We’ve got your back now Bruce.”

“Yeah, I mean I like to think I helped Y/N a lot with omega related things so maybe I can help you.” Jules says as you all pull back.

“By help she means going shopping. So sign me up.”

“There is that new store opening up soon that has omega only products. We could check it out.” Wanda suggests.

“That’s a great idea. What do you say?” Jules looked over at Bruce. He gives her a halfhearted smile.

“Sure, we can start with that.”

“It’s going to be great.”

The team eventually got back from their mission. They all went to their separate apartments and showered and changed before going into a debriefing. When they were finally done everyone ventured into the living room which was now made into a huge nest. Dinner, which was made by Wanda and Jonah, was ready to serve and you had been in charge of dessert.

“What is going on here?” Tony sauntered in looking in between the living room and dining room. “Are those my blankets?” He said when he noticed a very luxurious set in the corner of the living room.

“Maybe. We ran out of them and we wanted to surprise you guys with a movie night.”

“But it’s my blanket.”

“And it’s your corner. So only you’ll use it. Besides, Pepper gave us permission.” You say as you move to welcome your alphas back.

“I used to like you.” Tony shoots over his shoulder.

“And now you love me.” You shoot back.

“Hi, Sweetheart. I see you were causing havoc while we were out.”

“I am not.” You give Steve a kiss before moving to greet Bucky and Sam. “We wanted to do something with everyone together but knew you’d be tired. You’re welcome.” You sass as you wrap your arms around Sam who seemed a bit distracted.

He took a deep breath and looked down at you. His brows furrowed in confusion as he took you in.

“Are those our clothes?”

“Yeah, Wanda used magic so they would fit me the way I like.” You smile up at him. “Don’t worry they will still fit you too.”

He smiled at that. “I like you in our clothes.”

You smiled up at him before leading him to the dining room. At the table Sam pulled you into his lap as everyone sat together and talked amongst themselves.

“Are you ok, baby?” You asked in a hushed tone.

“Yeah. I'm fine. Why?”

“I can’t feel you.” You murmur as you rub your chest.

“I’m sorry, just give me some time. It was a hard mission.”

“Oh, I’m sorry.” You say before kissing his temple. “What can I do to help?”

“You’re already doing it.”

You smile at him before turning your attention back to the table. Everyone is having their own little conversations or talking over each other. Steve and Bucky are beside you, leaning into each other and stealing kisses. The scene before you is sweet and you can’t help but think about what it would have been like to have this as a child.

After dinner everyone moves to the living room and nest that was created in order to enjoy a movie night. The desserts you had made were sitting on the coffee table as well as other snacks for later on. It doesn’t take long for everyone to find a spot to get comfortable in.

Ricky and Jules cuddle on an armchair. Wanda and Jonah take the one next to them with Pietro sitting close by in order to keep an eye on them. Surprisingly Bruce and Nat also cuddle up on one side of the couch while Tony and Pepper take the other end. That leaves Clint sitting off on a beanbag chair by the couch. While you and the boys take up the other couch. Steve pulls you into his lap while Bucky cuddles up next to Sam. You can see Bucky, peppering kisses and scenting Sam as the movie starts to play. Slowly you begin to feel your bond with Sam opening up again and it feels like you can finally breathe.

Dinner was a success and so was the giant nest. So much so that Tony had commented about taking one of the other living rooms in the tower and turning it into a permanent nest. He pointed at you and asked you to be in charge of the project which you accepted.

In the elevator Steve had pulled Sam into his arms while you had wrapped your arms around Bucky. You pressed your cheek against his chest as the elevator ascended toward its destination. Once you were all in the apartment Steve and Bucky headed to your shared room to get ready for bed but Sam headed to his own room. It broke your heart to see him so disconnected so you followed him just to make sure he was alright.

You respected his space even though the door was open, you didn’t just walk into his room. Instead you leaned against the doorframe and watched as he sat on the edge of his bed.

“You don’t have to worry about me, sunshine. I’ll be ok, just need to unwind.” He tells you.

“I know. Is it ok if I stay anyway or do you prefer to be alone?”

It took him a moment but eventually asked you to stay. You walked over to him and stood in between his legs, placing your hands on his shoulders.

“What can I do to help? I hate seeing you like this.”

“I don’t know.” Sam shakes his head.

“What is making you feel like this? Did something happen on the mission?”

His beautiful brown eyes that were usually bright and happy are now filled with worry and sorrow. “I don't want to bother you with it.”

“You’re not bothering me. I want to help. You’re always there to help us, making us feel better when Steve, Bucky or I have a nightmare. Let me do the same for you.”

Sam took a deep breath and then nodded.

“During the mission there was a few minutes no one could contact Steve and Bucky. I had my eyes on them and then they were gone. I was trying to keep my calm for those few minutes but I thought they were gone.” Sam sniffles. “It brought back memories of when I had to watch my best friend die.”

“Oh baby.” You pull him in so that his head is resting against your chest. “I didn’t know about your best friend, I’m so sorry.”

“It’s ok. It’s been a while since it happened. I felt helpless in the field again and I never want to feel like that. It’s my job to have their backs and I failed.”

“You didn’t fail.” Steve said from the door. Bucky stood behind him, worry evident in his gaze. “Can we come in?”

Sam nods and Steve and Bucky sit on either side of him.

“Baby, why didn’t you tell us?”

“I just didn’t want to bother you. I’ll be fine.”

“We know,” Bucky says as he wraps an arm around Sam’s back. “But you don’t have to do it alone. You’re always there for us and we want to be there for you. And before you say anything, it doesn’t matter what any of us went through. Our trauma isn’t worse than yours. You deserve the same support you give us.”

“If you want to be alone we understand and we’ll give you your space. But we are more than willing to sit with you, talk or not talk about it. It’s whatever you need, baby.”

“I’d prefer if you stayed.”

You smile down at him before kissing his forehead.

“Now that’s my job.” Sam says.

“Everyone deserves forehead kisses.”

Sam pulls you into his lap and you yelp as he then stands up. You have no option but to hold onto him.

“Let’s get some rest, I’m exhausted.” He says as Steve and Bucky follow him out and into the shared room.

In bed you, Bucky and Steve doted on Sam. Giving him all the love and affection he could ever need and letting him know he was not alone. Never again would any of you have to deal with any of your past trauma alone.

“Steve! BROTHER! Open the door,” you flinch as it seems that Bucky wants to tear the door down with his bare hands. “If you hurt her, you’ll regret it. She’s your true mate.”

“Bucky, stop this immediately or you’ll end up in the dungeon. I swear if you threaten my claim, you are no longer my brother,” Steve warns.

There is a commotion behind the door, and then silence.

“He-he means well, my king,” whimpering in fear you look up at Steve. “Please don’t punish him. He pities me. Please.”

“You’ve got a soft spot for my brother,” he grits his teeth. “How far did he go? Did he touch you?”

“What? He wouldn’t…no. Your brother is a good man. All this time he tried to help me, my king. I swear on my father’s grave,” you sniffle. “Please…”

“A good man,” he huffs. “Unlike me?” The king questions. He waits for you to protest but you press your lips into a thin line. “I wasn’t always like this. Hard. Cold. Careless.”

“I don’t know you, my king,” you drop your gaze. “You’re a king. You have all the right to treat me like…this.”

“Look at me,” it’s an alpha command and your head immediately snaps upward. “I promised to keep you safe, and I will. No one will ever hurt you again or break your heart.”

“It’s too late for that.”

Steve swallows thickly as you start trembling. “Why’s that?”

“My family is gone,” you whimper. “And the only boy I ever loved forgot about me.” You give him a sad smile. “Promises are meant to be broken, my king. I don’t know if yours are meant to be kept.”

“My love,” your eyes round as he steps closer to cup your cheek with his right hand. “I never forgot about you. And I never wanted to break my promises. My father has forbidden me to come back to you. One day, he said you died in the fire with your family.”

“I-I don’t understand,” you press your hands weakly against his chest. “What is the meaning of your words, your highness.”

“Do you remember the horseshoe? I gave it to you,” he speaks as softly as he can. It’s hard to control his emotions after he got to know about Peggy’s betrayal.

“Horseshoe.”

Your heart wildly beats in your chest. This can’t be. No.

“You still have it.”

“A boy named Grant gave it to me, my king. I would remember being friends with a king.”

“A crown prince, my love,” he whispers lowly. Steve leans closer to sniff at your neck. “My name is Steven Grant Rogers. King of Brooklyn. My father wanted me to hide that I am the crown prince back then. So, I used my middle name.”

“No—no,” you cry. “My friend was a good person. He would’ve never treated people like you do. Grant was kind and so nice. He gave me my first kiss…my only kiss.”

“I never forgot about our kiss,” Steve tries to bring you into his arms but you fight him. A king can take whatever he wants, but you won’t give in without a fight. Your innocence is all you’ve got left.

“You’re not him,” he wins. You end up in his arms, your face pressed into his chest. You are forced to scent the king and feel his warmth. “You can’t be him. He would’ve saved me. Grant will come for me one day. I know it.”

You stop wiggling and lift your head. “What kind of flower?”

He smiles now as you place your hands flat against his chest. “I’ll tell you if you stop fighting me.”

“I-“ you nod, but cautiously watch Steve. He lets go of you to walk toward his bed. He kneels to look under the bed and gets a small golden chest out. “What’s this?”

“My treasure,” he places the chest onto the bed and opens it. “Look,” Steve gets a small book out. He opens the book to show you a pressed flower, hidden in the middle of the book. “It’s a daisy.”

You wrap your arms around yourself. This can’t be. No. The king cannot be the boy you loved for so long.

“No. What happened to you? How can you be like this?”

“I lost everything when my father told me you died in that fire,” he carefully closes the book again. “Peggy became my queen, even though, I only ever wanted you to become mine.”

“She died,” you softly say. “I heard it from Bucky. He said something along the lines when I took care of her horse.”

“It’s not her horse,” he grits out. “She said it’s hers, but it wasn’t,” Steve says. “I asked my father to get it from your father before all of this happened. I wanted to gift it to you. She took it away from you. Peggy stole your place by my side with lies and her treacherous words.”

“It never was my place,” you step toward the door. “Even if you are Grant, you are not the man I had hoped you’ll become.” You sniff. “My king, you know that a maid cannot take a queen’s place. You and that woman were meant to be. Not us.”

“Please don’t say this,” he begs. His eyes fill with tears as you reach for the doorknob. “We were always meant to be, omega. No one can stop an alpha from claiming his true mate. You’re mine, and I’m yours.”

“Not hours ago, you wanted me gone.”

He flinches as something hits the door from the other side. You shriek and fall to your knees to crawl away. “Y/N.”

Steve runs toward you. He goes down on his knees to wrap his body around your trembling form.

“STEVE!” the door finally bursts open, and a very angry Bucky, followed by Samuel storms into the room. “Where? What did you do?”

“Nothing,” Steve mutters. “You just destroyed my door.”

“I thought…I mean,” Bucky huffs as you cling to his brother’s body. You hide your face in his chest, crying as you are scared to hell and back. “You didn’t hurt her.”

“Of course not,” Steve bites back. “I told you to read Peggy’s diary and leave us alone. I need to talk to Y/N and explain a few more things.”

“Did you already tell her?” the brunette lifts a brow as his brother sighs deeply. “I guess things didn’t go well?”

“She doesn’t believe me, Bucky. I got the flower and all,” the king whispers. “What else can I do to make her believe that I’m Grant, the boy who fell in love with her so many years ago?”

“Steve let’s be honest. You treated her like the worst since you met her for the first time,” Bucky tries to make his brother see that you won’t be able to forgive the king so easily. “I told you that she’s special.”

“I know,” Steve gently rocks you in his arms. “You must read the diary, Bucky. I need to talk about it with someone. Peggy betrayed me, brother.”

“I asked Lord Barton and Samuel to find out more about Rumlow, and the knights attacking Y/N’s family that night.”

“Good. I want him in the dungeon. He’ll pay for what he did,” Steve runs one hand up and down your back. “Can you leave me alone with Y/N for a little longer? Maybe find someone to take care of the door.”

“Steve, I think you should leave Y/N alone for a while. It’s a lot to take in,” you lift your head to look at the kind brunette. “She can sleep in one of the spare chambers next to yours.”

“No,” you whine as Steve wraps his arms tighter around your body. “She must stay here. We don’t know if one of Peggy’s allies will go after her. No one can take her away from me ever again.”

“Brother you need to calm down. You’re scaring her. It’s no good to let your alpha take over at the moment,” Bucky tries again. “I want you to tell me what this is all about. Rumlow. Peggy. The fire.”

“You need to read the diary, Bucky. We will talk after you read it,” Steve nuzzles his nose in your hair to inhale your scent deeply. “She’s still scared.”

“Of you.”

“No! She’s not scared of me,” the king talks back as you start to squirm in his hold again. “She cannot be scared of me. I finally found her again after believing I lost her five years ago.”

Bucky reluctantly leaves the room to find someone to take care of the door and read the diary. “Steve, be gentle. Y/N is a blooming flower, don’t pick her too soon.”

“I’ll wed her first,” Steve mutters under his breath. “She’s going to be a queen and I’ll treat her like one. I won’t steal her innocence without making her, my wife.”

Bucky clears his throat at Steve’s words. “That’s not what I meant, Steve. I wanted you to be careful and not yell at her again.”

“Oh Steven,” Bucky closes the diary. He wipes a single tear off his cheek. “How could she do this to you and Y/N? I knew she was a treacherous snake, but this is unforgivable.”

He sighs deeply. What else can he do? One moment his brother wants to chase you away, and the next he’s talking about marriage and making you his queen.

“I will make sure you’ll not hurt Y/N. If your heart’s not in this, I’ll bring her away from here…”

“I want to go,” you press the bundle with your belongings to your chest. “I don’t belong here, my king. Please let me go.”

“Y/N, I know you don’t believe me, but I’m Grant,” he carefully approaches you. “How can I convince you?”

“You can’t be him,” stubbornly shaking your head you step back as Steve gets closer. “How could you change so much?”

“I lost you and my father forced me to marry Peggy. She died during childbirth,” he shrugs. “Peggy was all I had left after my father passed away. I was suddenly a king, and she was my salvation. Or so I thought.”

You remain silent and look away.

“She died, and my son didn’t live longer than a few days. I felt like the world betrayed me and turned my back on my people, even my brother,” Steve sniffs. “Peggy’s death opened old wounds. Wounds that never healed.”

“You can’t be him,” you repeat.

“Maybe you’re right. I’m not the Grant you used to know,” he takes another step toward you. “But there is still the young man falling in love with you inside of me. Can you help me find him again?”

“I’m only a maid, my king,” you glance at Steve. Your heart aches at the sadness in his eyes. He’s barely a shell of the young man you used to know. “How could I help you?”

Bucky smirked, his eyes completely dark and full of lust. His hand letting go of yours and traveling down your body until they’re at your hips. He pulled away from you, sitting up on his haunches and pulling you with him. Bucky snaps his hips once, testing out if that’s really what you want. “You need to drink some water.” He muttered a few minutes later. You pulled back to see he had a water bottle close by as well as some snacks. “Gotta keep your energy up, darling.” He said when he followed your eyes.

“I don’t want to eat.”

“Yeah.” You teased right back and he laughed. It was still a new and strange sensation, feeling his happiness through the bond. Along with that feeling Sam’s curiosity piqued.

“Just a few bites of something darling. Let me take care of you.”

The rest of the time with Bucky was spent cuddling and napping. You weren’t sure what time it actually was but you didn’t care as you were lulled to sleep with the coolness of Bucky’s left hand on your forehead.

The door opens slowly to reveal Steve. He was shirtless and was wearing sweats that hung low on his hips. The sight was mouth watering. He had a smirk on his face and a dark, lust blown look in his eye.

“Just you.” You whispered.

Although Steve is radiating the confidence that comes with being the head of the pack, both the team and personal, he’s gentle as he gets into the nest. He still understands how vulnerable you are at the moment. Steve hovers over you as he crashes his lips against yours. This kiss is more dominant and all consuming than any you’d shared before. “No, I just- I don’t know how to explain it. It just feels like a lot.” You said as you moved into Steve’s lap looking for comfort.

The three alphas look at each other, concerned that maybe they moved too fast. The last thing they wanted was to make you feel forced or trapped in a relationship.

“I’ve been so alone for most of my life. But now I have you, all of you. What if I’m not go-“

“Don’t even think about it.” Bucky cut you off. “We’ve talked about this darling. On our date remember.” He was sitting beside Steve so that you could see him. “Feeling like we don’t belong but we do, you do. That feeling right now, I know it. “You did?”

“Yeah I did. It took me a while to figure out what that overwhelming feeling that sits right,” he leans forward and touches your chest. “There. It’s the bond and more importantly what you’re feeling is love. It’s the love we have for you.”

“You love me?”

“Sweetheart of course we do.”

“We love you so much.”

“Absolutely.”

They all said at the same time.

“I- I love you too. All of you.” You admitted.

That feeling in your chest warmed you from the inside out. Steve tipped your head back and kissed you softly.

“You have us and we never want you to doubt your place in our pack.” Sam adds. “I don’t think you’ve realized it but you’ve got us wrapped around your finger, sunshine.”

The following few days were a blur. Sam, Bucky and Steve’s rut started a few hours after your heat. The four of you were a tangled mess of limbs within the confines of your nest. They took care of you and you returned the favor.

It was overwhelming and scary, comforting and safe. The more you settled into the bond the more at home you felt. Never again would you be alone. You had your pack to make you feel safe and loved and cherished.

In those first few days understanding the bond and the connection with all three alphas was confusing. But then it clicked. You realized you were more than true mates, your souls were connected too.

The king is obsessed with you. Even more than before.

Since Sharon tried to kill you, Steve didn’t let you out of sight for too long. Even when you weren’t allowed to leave his bedroom. For days he’s the only person you saw, and you get the feeling he won’t allow people to visit you anytime soon.

Steve is scared to the bone. He cried in your lap when everyone left you alone. The usually strong-minded alpha lost control and showed you his vulnerable side.

“I feared I’ll lose you again,” Steve whimpers in your neck.

At the moment he’s curled around your body and holds you close to his chest. His alpha took over and he gives in to his instinct.

Protect. Scent. Nest.

“I’m here with you, my king,” you softly say. You need to calm the pumped-up alpha. If not, he’ll never let you leave the room again. “I’m safe with you.”

“Bucky saved you,” he grits his teeth. Steve hates that his brother was the one saving you. You know Bucky must’ve seen the shard in your hand before Steve even got the chance, but Steve blames himself for not saving you. “It was my duty.”

“He’s your brother, and my friend,” he hums, but holds you even tighter. “Bucky saved me because of you.” – at least that’s what you try to tell yourself.

There was something in his eyes after you hugged him. Something that you didn’t see before. Bucky’s scent changed the moment you whispered alpha in his ear and he purred low in his throat.

The word just slipped past your lips, and now, you fear that you woke something in the alpha that you cannot take back.

“Bucky is a good brother and a good man,” Steve nuzzles you. “He’s going to be a good brother-in-law. I’ll make sure he finds his luck too.”

“His luck,” you close your eyes and bask in Steve’s scent.

It’s hard to think straight close to your true mate. It’s so much easier to just give in to what your omega is yearning for.

You let go of all of your doubts, fears, and the nagging feeling Bucky wanted to tell you something before you let go of him.

“Do you want me to get more knights to guard the door?” he asks. “I want you to feel safe, my love. You will tell me if you don’t feel safe, right? Please.”

“I’m safe here,” you turn in his embrace to bury your face in his chest. “I feel safe too, Steve. Can we forget about them for a while? I just want to forget about Peggy and Sharon.”

“We can forget about it. I promise. None of them will ever hurt you again. I made sure of it. The sorcerer supreme made sure of it…”

“She was a tough little bitch, huh?” Rumlow watches the sorcerer walk inside his cell. “I swear, I don’t know anything about Sharon’s plans. I only know what Peggy told me. Please…”

“I know, my sweet and well-behaved boy,” Stephen smirks darkly. “What a downfall for the Carters.” The sorcerer gently pats Rumlow’s head. “For you too. I saw your future, my son. You could’ve been so much more.”

“I could have been so much more…” the fallen knight whimpers as Stephen cups his face roughly. “I should have been so much more.”

“You had one chance and didn’t take it. Your fate is sealed,” the sorcerer drops his hand from his prisoner’s face. “I cannot shelter your life. The executioner is on his way.”

“I accepted my fate, my Lord,” Rumlow whispers. “I brought this upon myself. All I ever did was hurting people. With my end, my sins will get vanished too.”

“I will pray for you, my good boy,” Stephen pats Rumlow’s head again. “I will ask him to do it fast…”

“Bucky, what has gotten into you,” Natalia watches the alpha throw a chair against the wall. “JAMES!”

“She called me alpha!” he sniffs.

“Who?” she softly asks. “Bucky, what happened?”

“After I saved her, Y/N hugged me,” he whispers. “She sniffed at my neck and called me alpha. I guess it was just a slip of tongue. Maybe she wanted to say it to Steve and—”

“I see,” the redhead nods thoughtfully. “Maybe she feels the same, James. If there is only the slightest chance Y/N loves you too, you cannot let her slip through your fingers. You must tell her and Steve how you feel.”

“I can’t,” he whines low in his throat. “I told you, this will ruin everything for my brother, Y/N, and the kingdom. You can’t ask me to be selfish in this.”

“I don’t ask you to be selfish, James,” Natalia shrugs. “I want you to get what you deserve. I’m your friend, you know. Even if we weren’t meant for each other, I feel a connection. I don’t want to see you in pain…”

“Natalia, I’m not in pain,” Bucky puffs his chest. He tries to hide that he dreams of you whispering alpha in his ear. “I will get over her.”

“James…”

“I got over you too, right?” he gives Natalia a cracked smile. “Don’t give me those eyes. We both know the kingdom will go to hell if I run away with Y/N.”

“So…you thought about running away with that sweet omega,” she presses on. “How do you want to do it?”

“Natalia!”

“Come on, it’s only you and me here, James. You can tell me about your plans…”

“Off with her head,” Stephen chuckles darkly. “Aw, my dear Lady Sharon.” He enjoys the fear on Sharon’s face. “What? Don’t you like my sense of humor? I guess you are more into hurting innocent girls.”

“I did nothing wrong,” she spits on the ground. Sharon is stubborn and strong; Stephen gives her that. “The king deserves a woman of royal blood by his side, not some maid growing up in dirt and sin. She cannot become queen.”

“I think you are mistaken,” the sorcerer harshly grab Sharon’s face. “You forfeited your life for a dream you’ll never reach. Even if you would’ve succeeded, he’ll never love you.”

He stares down at the shaking woman. “Now, did you learn your lesson or do we want to start anew? I got this nice potion making you feel like your body is on fire. Do we want to try it?”

“I suggest you tell him everything he wants to hear, Lady,” Rumlow grunts. “It’s easier and less painful.”

“Coward,” she spats.

“That I am,” he laughs now. “But at least my pain is over, Lady. Yours just began…”

“It’s been a long time, sorcerer,” the healer watches Stephen put his potions back inside his bag. “I assume your task is done?”

“Healer Banner,” the sorcerer bows. “A pleasure to meet you again, my old friend. How long has it been?”

“Six years since you decided to turn toward the darker side of our…profession,” Bruce sneers at the sorcerer. “Did she tell you everything you wanted to know?”

“I must talk to the king,” Stephen dips his head to glance at Sharon who is cowering in a corner of her cell. She dares not to look at the sorcerer. “She’s all yours. But be aware, she will try to kill you. Lady Sharon will try to lure you into false safety.”

“I’m not a fool,” the healer bites back. “I’m not wearing weapons and, I brought two knights with me.”

Lord Wilson nods at Stephen. “Your prisoner is in capable hands now. Thank you, sorcerer supreme.”

“Very well,” Stephen takes his bag and turns to leave. “I’ll take my leave…”

“Grant, my love,” you grab Steve’s hand to drag him toward the door. “Let’s leave the room. We are here for over a week.”

“I can’t…Y/N,” the king hesitates. “I need to…wait.”

He takes your hand to press it to his heart. “What is it, my king?”

“Sharon is gone, the man killing your family too,” Steven licks his lips. “I know this is the wrong moment to ask you but, do you…”

“Grant,” you cup his face and look up at Steve, “what do you want to tell me, my king?”

“I-I I want to wake up and see your face every morning. If you give me the honor to become my wife and omega, I will know that I'm right where fate wants me to be. Where I want to be. All I want to do for the rest of my life is loving you.”

“Steve, I don’t want to become queen,” you stand on tiptoes to brush your lips over his. “But I want to become yours…”

Stephen Strange left in the morning; leaving a bitter taste on the king’s tongue.

You never know on which’s side the sorcerer stands. So far, he never betrayed the king, but Steve doesn’t trust the man with cold eyes.

“Is he finally gone?” Bucky asks. “Strange gives me the creeps.”

“He told me everything about Sharon, Peggy and King Howard. There is no secret uncovered. At least not theirs,” Steve looks at his brother. “Strange said he saw the future.”

“He did,” Bucky swallows thickly. “What did he say?”

“The sorcerer said he couldn’t see our future clearly,” the king says. “But he told me that Y/N is the key to our future. She must be protected at all costs…”
