Sometimes I wonder why people are so quick to think autistic ppl are evil soul sucking demon aliens or whatever
Then I look at WH theories (clearly made by neurotypical teenagers) and it’s like. “OMG WALLY DARLING EVIL SATAN WORSHIPPER CONFIRMED” and the linked audio is just either obvious symptoms of autism or him panicking
Like I really find it hard to believe Clown would follow such a cliché ending to children’s mascot horror by making (mascot) be super dangerous evil evil bad guy 3000. Especially after the sheer amount of love and precision they put into all of it. I don’t think it would be satisfying if Wally was just Super Manipulator Murder & Posses Man

I am just adding on to the raging bone fire that is the Welcome Home AUs, but I don't give a fuck.
Introducing Eldritch!Wally au!
Basically Home was an Eldritch trapped in the show and was fading away. Before it fully could, it gave the last of its power to Wally, thus turning him into an Eldritch. With his new powers, he immortalized the neighborhood so that it will still be there even when the show gets off the air.
Wally also tends to got to the outside world to make deals to increase and maintain his power. And he has three main forms. First is his original 12 apple tall puppet form. The second is his full Eldritch form, which he rarely uses because it either drives the people who see it mad or kills them once they've laid eyes on it. The third is what he mainly uses to make deals and communicate with the outside world.
This form is at least 7"8, he still has his blue pompadour and yellow skin, but there are twisted blood red antlers growing out of his head that has black tips. His sclera is completely black. His left eye only has lines that resembles Home's windows and his right is outlined by white to make it easier to tell it apart from the black sclera. It even has a swirl just like the one from underneath Home on the Welcome Home website. He has black/red wings that have multiple eyes that are a bright red, blue, yellow, and green. He has four extra black/red arms that are more like gauntlets and armour. Each segment is outlined in red, this also includes each finger joint and his claws. On the palm of each extra hand is this weird rose/eye symbol that is also red. He even has a black tail outlined in red.
His wardrobe also changes.
He now wears a black suit with coattails. The suit will fade into a blood red color when nearing the coattails and his feet. He wears black dress shoes that are outlined in red. The inside of his suit jacket is white with black lining, as it is pinned to either side of his chest to make an opening, despite the rest of it being closed. Underneath the suit is a black shirt. However, what's visible has white lines that also resembles Home's windows. On his two original hands are black gloves, which on the back has the same rose/eye symbol on the palms of his four extra hands.
Each extra feature glitches out and the wings don't look fully attached to his back either. He also has teeth with fangs and he can make every one of them sharp at will. He still eats with his eyes though.
And yes, he's a yandere. And once an Eldritch has someone that they obsess about, they would stop at nothing until they're theirs. And once they have them, they will never let go. Eldritch's are also really possessive, always marking what's theirs with their special sigil.

Welcome Home Fae AU Quick Concept
Mainly posting this so I don't forget it tomorrow. You can give feedback if you want! It is always appreciated! I researched as much as I could, but I am still not entirely sure if all fae live in the fairy realm (it probably depends on which country's version of fae folklore), but for the sake of this AU, all fae will reside in the fairy realm. I just couldn't find a lot of info on that specific topic, lol.
OKAY. So like... the Neighborhood is actually a place inside of the Fairy Realm and humans can only enter by stepping inside of a specific fairy ring. Since it is so difficult to find a fairy ring, much less find the exact one to enter the Neighborhood, it is very rare for a human to visit the Neighborhood. Usually, only other fair folk visit. The only human resident of the Neighborhood is Eddie, who forgot everything about his life outside of the Fairy Realm due to being trapped for so long.
The circular positions of the houses in the Neighborhood each match a mushroom or group of mushrooms in the fairy ring that allows access to their portion of the Fairy Realm. The size of the building determines how many mushrooms of that pattern will be the same and the colors of the building slightly match the colors of the mushroom that represents it.
Wally acts a bit like the community leader of the Neighborhood, making sure everyone does their assigned tasks and is in charge of events such as festivals, celebrations, and the likes. Home acts a bit like a living portal to the human realm, as well as a way to spy on the going ons in the human village nearby their fairy ring.
Most of the neighbors will try to get humans to eat food that they make. They will go as far as to hold little festivals whenever a human enters their world. Eating any food they offer you, however, will forever bind you to the Fairy Realm. This is exactly how Eddie got trapped in the Neighborhood. Due to most modes of transportation between communities in the Fairy World being too difficult or downright impossible for humans, it will inadvertently trap you in the Neighborhood, as well.
Main thing I have to do first is figure out which type of fair folk/fae everybody (except for Eddie, since.. well... he's human) shall be. Gotta research them to be sure I feel like they fit the characters as best as possible with the information we currently have on the Welcome Home characters.

there are a lot of relationships that are interesting to explore in Welcome Home like Wally and Home, and Frank and Eddie, but by far the most important is Wally and You. And I don't mean you, I mean the collective 'You' (because there is a difference).
so here's my big theory about why You matters and how You can lead to Wally changing his perception on Home:
also: I am posting this right before the update so if anything changes or stuff is added to go along with this I'll add on to it later.
first, this post heavily stems from @/carnivalcarrion's post about Wally and Barnaby's friendship but TL;DR because Barnaby and Wally were made to be friends, Barnaby doesn't have a purpose beyond that, which could put a strain on their "friendship."
anyways, I think a similar point could be made about Wally and You. this has to be the most important relationship in the story since it is implied through the clues on the Website that Wally is trying to communicate with us. it's obvious we have a role in the story as the viewers but I think You is actually a character. the most damning piece of evidence is the hidden page that looks like this:
Tumblr media
You are given a bio just like the rest of the neighbors are. that is because You are a part of Welcome Home, especially to Wally who is aware of your existence and talked directly to You during episodes of the show. You are the tenth neighbor to him and thus a character.
plus, there are multiple instances of Wally talking directly to you like "I know you're there," "I can't see you," etc. and as shown above, the only information we know about You is Wally is their best friend. the wording of this is essential. it's not "Wally and You are best friends" or "Your best friend is Wally," it is "Wally is your best friend." it's very one-sided seeming.
but You isn't actually you in the sense you might think. You is a character based on the collective audience--I think of both of the Website and the past audience of the Welcome Home show--and that's the you "Wally knows" ...and Clown has worded it like this multiple times, here, here, and here!
so, Wally doesn't know specific people, not from the audience viewing the Website and the project as a whole now, and assumedly not from the viewers that used to watch the Welcome Home show during its airing. he has a knowledge of a collective audience with only one purpose: he is their best friend, much like how Barnaby was made to be his best friend as well.
I find this post the most important when talking about You, though. Clown answers the question "what would happen if someone stumbled into or got lost and ended up in the Welcome Home neighborhood?" with "You! If they arrived? They’d feel right at Home!" there isn't any confusion or worry, You would feel right at Home, almost like you belong there. (and, I find it funny that Clown labels this random 'someone' as You, even though the question-asker wasn't talking about anyone specific.)
but You isn't a puppet that was made with the sole purpose of being Wally's friend, You is just a collective of people, humans that have lives outside of consuming Welcome Home (in whatever sense that is). but what if Wally doesn't see it that way? I don't think Wally is egotistical in the slightest but his knowledge is very limited, especially about the world outside of Home. from his point of view, Home is everything and thus You are just an extension of Home and they belong in Home, possibly to serve Home the same way he and his neighbors (unknowingly) do.
I think Wally's viewpoint of the world is very cold in this sense. everything is the way that it is because it is supposed to be. assuming he is the only sentient of the puppets (besides Home), he sees his friendships as existing because they are supposed to, people existing to serve their singular purpose, and all of it surrounds him, Home, and the Welcome Home show. this can be quite metaphorical when you take into account that he's a puppet so it only makes sense to live for a specific purpose, having someone pull your strings for you and serving them, and have very little capacity to care about much else.
except something has to resist those ideas because it is a story and there must be conflict. this has already probably taken form with the cancellation of the show which likely broke Wally's ability to communicate with You until the Website. I imagine there will be something else that puts a strain on Wally's relationship with You that puts into perspective for him how You weren't made to serve Home as a puppet for it like he was, or that Wally isn't your best friend, in the way that he says he is.
Clown has said before that Welcome Home is a story about what it's "like to live in a decaying Home" and perhaps this will lead to Wally realizing there is purpose and life outside of Home. I think this could manifest itself in several ways through the story but with Wally and You's relationship being the most important, there will hopefully be a bigger plotpoint surrounding Wally, his ideation of what You are, and what You really are to him and Home.

hi! i loved your future au comic and the way you've caracterized maurice talking about how nice/weird it is being a teacher of knd operatives. do you have any headcanons about how maurice or other members of the sector v think themselves as adult and their relationship to adulthood and childhood? how to contribute to kids liberation as adults
Hello!! I think about this a lot, and yet also not enough.
The comic you're referring to brought up another example. Rachel becomes a defense lawyer who specializes in taking KND related cases, basically acting as the legal protector of KND operatives. Fanny meanwhile is a prosecutor who targets evil adults. Because we love defense lawyer/prosecutor relationships.
In general, I think it's common for adult operatives to align their careers with kid liberation. Like, it's not required and it's not the only way adult operatives can aid with kid liberation but it happens a lot.
Abby is another example of this. She's a social worker who advocates for kids in difficult situations.
Even Wally has a kid-aligned career as a pediatrician. He can use his platform to advocate for kids as well, in various ways. One of those ways is just using his leverage as a doctor against the parents of his patients. He's not allowed to have the final say in what the parents decide, but he does what he can. A real life problem with children's healthcare is that parents consent stands in for the child's consent. So the kid doesn't get a say in their own healthcare, only their parents do.
Kuki can also do kid liberation work as the Rainbow Monkey CEO. Sometimes careers that don't obviously overlap with kid liberation absolutely do.
Having people who are willing to fight for youth autonomy in any industry is a huge deal. Education, healthcare and law are probably the big ones that come to mind, but there are very few jobs that can't involve it.
What adult operatives do for the cause is really just the exact same stuff that we can all do in real life. Speak up when you see injustice and try to fight for something better.
But like I said, it's not all tied into careers. For example, Nigel never has a job. He's pretty much unemployable due to his inability to separate his politics from his professionalism, and also because of his debilitating paranoia and OCD. But even if those weren't factors, he was in prison for a huge chunk of his young adult life, and if you have a criminal record it's near impossible to get work (a very real and very evil problem). Hes released from prison as a disabled 30-something year old former convict with no professional experience at all. He's pretty much inevitably going to become a stay at home Dad.
But he can still do a A LOT advocating in his local community and for the children in his life. not only is a menace in PTA meetings, but he's got a lot of free time on his hands to get out and make a fuss. Also, and this is very specific to Nigel, his family still lives in the same house, which is conveniently attached to the treehouse. So he DIRECTLY works with the active KND operatives who use that treehouse. He can help them in varying ways, from making them cookies to keep their energy up, to feigning ignorance when evil adults show up at his front door and shooing them away.
I haven't mentioned Hoagie yet, and that's because she's the most likely to get absorbed into the things that immediately interest her and not think about much outside of that. It's the autism. Their career is like this. Hoagie works a LOT, just because she loves what she does. But she still advocates for kids when the opportunity presents itself, particularly her own kids.
In the comic I drew, Angeline mentions that the KND doesn't need adult programmers, because there are already plenty of very talented KND operatives that are programmers. However, people like Angeline can work to make space for those KND programmers and watch their backs. Hoagie can do this too in the world of academia and hard research. While there arent any kids in university, they can still help KND nerds get access to resources and stuff like that. Lots of scientific papers are behind paywalls. Hoagie can help kids get around those paywalls.
I remember talking to Mottle about Hoagie running workshops for kids, and Abby shifting to a more chill career that's somewhat similar. Just teaching kids cool stuff.
I sort of breezed past Kukis involvement so I'm gonna go back to that- As the Rainbow Monkeys CEO, she pushes for inclusivity in product design. The RM corporation now has better sizing for their children's clothing line, they have pride merch, gender affirming products, and children's books with positive messages. Evil adults complain about the company being "woke" now. She also makes huge donations to children's charities and fundraises even more money through her products.
I have a specific headcanon about Kuki and Wally doing a collaboration where the Rainbow Monkey corp has a partnership with local children's hospitals. There's a line of RM scrubs and stuff too. But that probably already existed.
And to elaborate on Abby's role, while I think it's mostly obvious, I did want to restate my headcanon that she takes over the DCFDTL 's case. I headcanon that those kids can't age, so when Abby is an adult, they're still 10, and they're stuck in the foster care system with a very high-profile, legally complicated case.
I think...that's plenty of info for now. Thanks for the question!

Mini Theory on Welcome Home ( sorry if this has been done before I just don’t see very many people talking about Eddie and his mysteries)
We know that the restoration team gets letters in colourful envelopes The only place we see colourful envelopes is with Eddie, so how are they getting letters in the first place? is Eddie the one mailing to the restoration group? One big question that I haven’t seen many people talking about is who is wanting to restore “welcome Home” well who else but the characters of the show, now I have seen some people saying that it’s the creators of the show that are sending the letters but what if that’s not true, what if it’s the puppets themselves that want to restore the show. How would the puppets be doing that you might ask well the answer might be Eddie. The other puppets could have been using Eddie to deliver mail to the restoration team, we know thanks to the guestbook that Wally can communicate to us through the messages we send, and we know that Eddie is responsible for sending out our messages to the other puppets so why wouldn’t the puppets be able to send letters to us and the restoration team. I think that Wally thought Eddie is trying to communicate to the restoration team, it’s known that wally knows that we’re watching him but he can’t see us , but what if Eddie can.
In Eddie’s description it’s said that no one knows where Eddie is actually from and that he leaves the neighbourhood often but we don’t know where he goes. It think that Eddie might have some part to play into the restoration process of “Welcome Home” acting like a bridge between our world and the world of “Welcome Home”. I think Eddie might be a character that can freely move between worlds, the fact that Eddie isn’t originally from the neighbourhood and the fact that he always dodged the question of where he’s from and where he goes may be a hint that Eddie isn’t part of the “Welcome home” world but rather someone else from outside of their world. The reason why Eddie avoids being asked about where he comes from is because he’s not from the same world as the rest of the puppets he could be from our world instead.
This is where my thoughts and theories end for now due to limited information available. But I think I might be on to something, like I said at the top of this post I don’t see very many people talking about Eddie and his many mysteries so I hope I found something worth mentioning.
Small add on to the theory that I noticed after originally posting it . Wally and Eddie have a lot of similarities to each other that all the other puppets don’t have to my knowledge. Their designs are very similar they both have the same style of eyes a slightly closed eye with fancier eyelids than the rest. They also have different noses Eddie’s nose is very different to the rest very boxy, almost all the other puppets have rounded noses. And are the most human like characters as characters like howdy, Frank and Julie don’t look as humanoid as these two. Both of them have a connection with arts and crafts.Wally is the only puppet that doesn’t have a nose. It’s weird to me that their the only ones with odd faces. Eddie and Wally are the only characters that communicate directly to us using the guestbook.

Welcome Home Wally theory
Tumblr media
Back again with a vengeance!
I return with the release of the new website update and to talk about a theory that has probably been floating around for a while but I think is neat to bring up. Bear with me this may be a bit long and won’t cover anything but hey could be fun.
Spoilers for the website update!
Something that stood out to me for this update was, of course, what was happening to Wally. I think a big part of this update was giving us more context for the show and characters. What was the show like and what was the relationship between all the characters?
Then there was all the stuff revolving around Wally which is quite illuminating. We still don’t know what happened exactly but we are getting peaks behind the curtain. So what is up with Wally? We still can’t be one hundred percent sure but there is one thing we can figure out.
The bug videos of Wally. These videos are, at face value, pretty straight forward. We see Wally disassociating and going into a bit of a subspace. He is aware of his surroundings but he is more of an audience member than an active participant.
I am not going to act like I am an expert on this but a lot of people have pointed out this along with Wally’s other mannerisms, pointing to him being on the spectrum. Possibly Autism but again I am no expert, others can verify yes or no on that point. This I do agree with. I do think Wally is on the spectrum. That being said, I do think there is a force out there that is infecting and taking control of the show and characters to an extent.
I was thinking about these videos when I suddenly realized they reminded me of something. Specifically they reminded me of Lovecraft’s call of cthulhu. Hear me out. In Call of Cthulhu, the main character interviews a variety of people and comes to a conclusion regarding one group. Those who were creatively driven, the story specifically calling out artists, were falling asleep and dreaming about horrors beyond their comprehension.
How does this connect to welcome home and Wally? Well in lovecraft’s story, artists were a big part, they would fall asleep, receive visions and knowledge they shouldn’t about creatures that could end them without a thought and then would paint these horrors. They would do this almost against their will and were driven mad because of it.
It sounds a little familiar right? I think what is happening to Wally is similar to the story. Not exact but it does have some parallels. Wally is an artist who receives knowledge about a world outside of his own. A world inhabited by creatures (aka us) that could end him and everything he knows without a single thought. There is of course one big difference between this story and the cthulhu one.
Wally can’t dream. He can’t sleep, he is a puppet. Night doesn’t exist in welcome home and we are not even sure if the other puppets sleep or just go into a dormant state until the next episode. I think this is the reason why Wally’s dissociation is getting worse. He receives knowledge outside of his world and his mind having no way to protect him just goes into this state of disconnect. He is able to reconnect to his world when one of the others calls his name but until then he is stuck in this subspace.
When Wally enters this state, it’s the closest he can get to ‘sleeping’. When that happens, it’s possible that something is reaching out to him and trying to communicate but Wally can’t answer. It’s also possible that whatever it is contacting Wally is seeing using Wally’s eyes. In other words, we are seeing from Wally’s pov but it’s not just Wally’s pov.
Of course that is all speculation. I do think there is an outside force, (all the black substance in the staff only section) and it is responsible for some of Wally’s mannerisms. But I don’t think it’s taking control of Wally the entire time, it might not even be taking control of him completely and is instead making his already existing conditions worse.
The last bug video we see is the one where Barnaby is talking to Home and it reveals that all of Wally’s dissociation episodes happened in one day. This means Wally is going into this subspace an alarming amount of times. Again I am no expert but I don’t think that is very healthy.
This is not to take away what Wally is however. I do think he is on the spectrum and I do think his monotone, not understanding figures of speech, his sometimes awkward social skills, is all natural. That is just who Wally is and there is nothing wrong with that. The problem comes when he is being forced into this space from something outside of his control. When he is forced to face a reality that he shouldn’t have to. A reality that makes him question everything around him and causes him to shut down for certain periods of time.
Of course this is all speculation about what happened during the show’s run but if this theory is even remotely true then it makes the present events all the more interesting. You see in Call of Cthulhu the characters are ultimately doomed to failure, they can’t fight against these creatures beyond their understanding. You either join them like the story of innsmouth or you perish or you go insane.
However in the present timeline Wally has seemingly flipped the script. He was once the one receiving dark knowledge against his will but now he is the one giving the knowledge. He is the one who is in part responsible for what is happening to the restoration team. He knows things that we don’t and he is even entering people’s dreams in an attempt to impart this knowledge.
This doesn’t make Wally evil or anything. I believe he isn’t doing this to drive others insane. He is doing it out of desperation. He wants us to understand what happened to him and his show. He is just as much of a victim as anyone else is in this situation, he was just the unfortunate first one. He was the artist cursed with visions (he has more eyes now) and knowledge that would lead to his world ending. He was also on the spectrum during a time where an understanding of what that is was limited or non existing.
He isn’t creepy or evil. He is simply a victim of some force beyond his control that he didn’t even know existed. A force that is most likely still around.
Summary: Wally is most likely autistic or at least on the spectrum. A force outside of his control is trying to impart knowledge on him, forcing him to disassociate several times a day until he is snapped out of it by someone calling his name. Something could also be possibly controlling him and making his autistic traits worse or more noticeable to others around him. In the present timeline he has flipped the script and is now trying to communicate with someone in order to make them understand what he went through during the show.
Alright. Does this theory explain everything? No I don’t think it does. There is also a chance that all the love craft connections are coincidence but I think it is interesting to bring up. I also didn’t want to dismiss Wally’s potential autism (I say potential because I am not an authority and thus can’t say if it is autism for sure) and his normal traits and behavior.
Wally being monotone and not understanding certain concepts doesn’t automatically indict anything sinister after all. I instead believe that these traits are just being emphasized during certain scenes but in a way to show that something is happening to Wally. It’s important to be respectful and to watch how we are talking about Wally after all. If I have said anything disrespectful please let me know and I will take down and edit this post.
Hope I at least got my point across and this is food for thought.

Batfamily x Batsis Story
Word Count: 2.1K Warnings: Explicit Language, Angst
Author’s Note: Anyone order a part seven? Cause I got a part seven for y'all. Enjoy! -Thorne
**********************************************************************
Ever since the meeting that night, she’d gotten more letters from her family than she’d ever received in twenty-one years. Not that she decided to read them. The first line from Dick’s letter was, ”I never wanted you to leave because of me. If only I’d known…”. She couldn’t keep reading, and she wasn’t sure if it were from guilt, sadness, or anger, but there was something there that she didn’t want to face.
It didn’t stop there though. They kept coming even if she tacked a return to sender on it and sent it back. She’d even labeled one and written, ”Stop writing me.” but that didn’t stop them. Wally texted her every other night on top of the letters and she wanted to strangle him through the phone.
She knew though, that if she could keep holding out for three more months, she’d be home free. Wherever home was at this point. Every city she kept thinking about had some type of vigilante and there was nothing that didn’t; eventually she decided on Coast City. Somewhere warm and sunny, and as far from Gotham and Central as possible.
Of course that little voice in the back of her head just kept telling her to talk to them, but she was going to be as stubborn against it as possible—but time was dwindling, and so was her resolve.
***
“Ophelia, have you seen the extra bag of espresso beans? I can’t remember where you put them the other week.” She waited for a response. “Ophelia?” she turned and frowned. “Why did I accept the manager’s position when I can’t even round up my workers?”
She walked out of the storage and wiped her hands on the rag at her waist. “Ophelia?” A giggle sounded at the counter and when she walked out, her eyes went wide at the sight.
Jason was leaning against the counter with that smile he used to use on the models at the galas. He smiled at Ophelia. “Tell me, what do you make better, the cappuccinos or lattes?”
“Well, I make a —”
“She makes a mean ‘get in the back and find my espresso beans’,” she grunted and both of them jumped.
“Melisandre!” Ophelia stuttered, pale cheeks flushing pink. “I thought you were in the back.”
“I was. Think you can go find the coffee beans you put away?” She shot Ophelia a stare that screamed ‘scram’ and the girl nodded, hurrying to the storage room.
“Aww, why’d you run the cutie off, Melisandre?” Jason queried. “I was going to ask her out on—”
“Can I talk to you?” she interrupted, voice barely containing her seething rage. “Outside.”
Jason shrugged and shoved his hands in his jean pockets. “Sure, but be careful, people might get suspicious.”
She grunted and walked outside, listening to him follow and when the door shut, she turned around and hissed, “What the fuck are you doing here?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I was just getting coffee.”
“Oh, don’t play dumb with me, Jason. We both know that’s a load of bullshit.”
His eyes narrowed and he noted, “You’ve really gotten comfortable using foul language. You know that, (Y/N)?”
She glared at him. “What. Do. You. Want.”
“You won’t answer our letters,” he shrugged. “Didn’t have a lot of options to talk.”
“And showing up at my job is the better option?” she griped.
“It was that or your house, (Y/N). Take your pick but you can’t have both.”
“Well, maybe my silence is supposed to be the answer to those letters. Did you think about that?”
“I did,” he nodded. “But after the third letter being rejected, I decided to go big or go home.”
(Y/N) growled. “Go home.”
Jason smirked. “No.”
“I’m not fucking joking here, Jason. I don’t want you coming here. Ever.”
“Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn,” he retorted then stepped forward and grabbed her wrist. “You don’t wanna talk willingly, fine. I’ll make you talk to me. And if I have to show up here every day, I will.”
“No, you won’t.”
Jason cocked a brow and tightened his grip. “You wanna bet? Because I’m not Dick and I’m sure as hell not Bruce. I don’t have a day job to get to.” He smirked. “I can do this all day.”
(Y/N) bit the inside of her cheek and thought for a moment then sighed and yanked her arm away. “Fine. Come to my apartment after five. We’ll talk there.”
“Thank—”
“Don’t thank me yet,” she interrupted coldly. “I’m agreeing for one meeting and then you fuck off back to Gotham City and leave me the hell alone for good.” She spun on her heel and started back for the door when his voice reached her, tired and pained.
“Do you really hate all of us? Do you really hate us like you make yourself think you do?”
(Y/N)’s feet felt like lead and she stopped, gazing at the glass door. “I don’t know, Jason.”
“Then let me help.”
“You can find the apartment on your own. I know you’re good at looking for homes.” She slipped in the café door, leaving him standing there shocked and hurt.
***
Sure enough, a minute after five o’clock, her doorbell rang and she called, “It’s open.” The door opened and shut, and she looked up from the little kitchenette, watching the way Jason walked into her apartment, gazing around the empty living room.
“Shit, do you live in a home or a prison cell?”
(Y/N) grunted. “Nice quip. Come up with that by yourself?”
He wandered into the kitchen, leaning back against the counter as she prepared dinner. “What’re you making?”
“Chicken marsala,” she replied. “You’re here to talk. Start talking.”
“Are you going to be a bitch like you were the other night or can I ask about life in Central the last three years?” she shot him a glare, warning him, but he paid it no mind. “You going to school?”
(Y/N) nodded. “I go to Central City Community College. Take classes all week at different times.”
“What are you studying?” he asked.
“For now, general studies, but I’m minoring in political science.”
“Planning on a four year after you graduate?”
She shrugged. “Maybe. Maybe not.” Her hands stalled for a moment. “I don’t have the money for a big school to get a bachelors.” Shaking her head, she chopped up the vegetables. “Figure if I can get a job in the area, I can scrounge up enough to start the process though.”
“Might take years,” Jason noted, and she nodded.
“Yeah, hard work usually does.” (Y/N) glanced at him. “What’s Cassandra like?”
He blinked, evidently not expecting that, though he recovered and smiled. “She’s great honestly. Kicks ass better than anyone I know.”
“Even Batman?”
Jason huffed a laugh. “I’m sure she could wipe the floor with each of us if she decided to not hold back. Her mom’s Lady Shiva and her dad’s David Cain.”
“I don’t know who they are but I’m assuming from the tone that they’re not exactly the best parents in the world.”
“No…they’re not.” He agreed. “David didn’t teach Cass how to speak so she’s been mute all her life.”
“I’ve heard the few interviews she’s given,” (Y/N) replied. “She’s very eloquent when she does.”
“Shakespeare’s influence. And probably Emily Dickinson.” He smiled. “I leave her a lot of books to read so I can be her favorite.”
She snorted. “Yeah, that sounds like you.” Sliding the cast iron skillet into the oven, she sat at the crappy metal dining table, Jason taking the seat on the other side. (Y/N) scratched at the table. “Does Bruce like her?” she questioned lowly, and he nodded.
“Loves her like she’s his own.” He her with cautious eyes. “Just like he loves you.” Jason watched the emotion flash across her face, quick as lighting, a deep sorrow, then she was humming.
“Well, that’s good then.” She cleared her throat and looked at the clock. “How’ve you been? I hear a lot about Outlaws.”
Jason chuckled. “Yeah, that’s my band of renegades. Me, Roy Harper, and Koriand’r.”
“Remind me, those were Speedy and Starfire, right?”
He snorted. “Arsenal and Starfire. But yeah, close enough.”
(Y/N) got up and pulled two glasses from the cabinet before going to the refrigerator and getting the lemonade. She poured them both glasses and sat back down. “How’d you manage to wrangle two of the Titans into your posse?”
“Kori willingly tagged along, and Roy won’t leave me alone,” he griped, sipping his lemonade.
“Mmm…and how does Dick feel about you stealing two of his exes?”
Jason choked on his drink, spilling it on the table and down his chin. “That’s not—” he coughed. “That’s not what that is.”
“Uh huh, sure it’s not.”
“It isn’t,” he glowered.
“Riiiiiiight,” she drawled out with a grin, then took a sip and set her glass back down. “Figured you’d get Cass along with you. she seems like she’d be fit for Outlaws.”
He shook his head. “Nah, she’d be better off with Tim and his Young Justice weirdos.”
“She non-lethal?”
“Mhm.”
They dwindled into silence until the timer went off on the oven and she pulled the skillet out and set two plates on the table. “You’re gonna feed me?” he asked as she handed him a fork.
(Y/N) scoffed. “Duh. I’m a bitch, but I’m a bitch with manners.” She smiled sweetly. “But you have to leave afterwards.”
“Mmm…can I crash on your couch?”
“No.”
“Please?”
“No.”
He shrugged. “Figured I’d try anyways.”
They ate in silence, occasionally speaking about their lives the last three years, and when the food was all gone and the lemonade drunk, he sighed and reclined in the chair.
“What?” (Y/N) questioned and he shrugged.
“Dunno…I’d like to do this again soon.” His teal eyes found hers. “It’s been too long since we were together.”
“Tread carefully,” she murmured, looking at the wall and he sighed.
“Sis, talk to me,” he begged. “Even if it’s just to tell me how much you hate me, just talk to me.” She didn’t respond and he sighed again, standing from the table. “Thanks for dinner.”
“…I hate that you all put Gotham and every civilian before our family.” Jason stopped dead in his tracks and turned, gazing at her, though she didn’t tear her eyes from the wall. “I hate that the only time I felt like anyone paid any attention to me was when we were at galas and even then, the attention was just for show. It didn’t matter because all anyone wanted to do was get the hell out of the manor and go on patrol. It didn’t matter because I wasn’t like any of you. I wasn’t a part of the real family.”
Tears gathered in her eyes. “I hate that I spent more nights sitting in a dark and silent manor than spending them with my family. I hate that I never had a normal family growing up where we’d go for ice-cream after school and attend school performances. I hate that I got stuck with a bunch of siblings hellbent on giving every piece of themselves to the world and they couldn’t take one night off to have a family night to save their lives. To at least pretend to be normal.”
(Y/N) finally took her eyes from the wall and he felt his heart tighten as the tears slipped down her cheeks and she breathed, “I hate that I was born Bruce Wayne’s biological daughter and I’d give anything and everything I have to be someone else’s daughter and sister.”
Jason’s mouth felt dry, and he didn’t have single thing to say to her and she whispered, “Is that what you wanted to hear, Jason?” she blinked. “Because that’s what I feel every morning I wake up.”
“I’m sorry,” he murmured, and she cleared her throat, wiping her cheeks.
“Yeah well, I’m three years passed sorry.” (Y/N) nodded to the front door. “You should leave now.”
Jason nodded but his feet didn’t move. For a moment, he couldn’t move them, then he sucked in a breath and started edging back to the door. When he neared the door, he pulled it open and paused, looking back at her. “(Y/N)?” she didn’t answer but he said it anyway. “I love you. More than you’ve ever known.” He sighed and stepped out, closing it behind him.
(Y/N) buried her face in her hands and sobbed alone at the dinner table.

5 Contemporary Book Recommendations with WLW relationships!
As promised, this is my list of 5 book recs with FF centered relationships! They’re in no particular order and I hope it’ll motivate you to read some good queer works of art!
1. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid Link to book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/32620332-the-seven-husbands-of-evelyn-hugo
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. When she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one in the journalism community is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now? Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband, David, has left her, and her career has stagnated. Regardless of why Evelyn has chosen her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career. Summoned to Evelyn’s Upper East Side apartment, Monique listens as Evelyn unfurls her story: from making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the late 80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way. As Evelyn’s life unfolds—revealing a ruthless ambition, an unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love—Monique begins to feel a very a real connection to the actress. But as Evelyn’s story catches up with the present, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways. --> I read this a few months ago and I remembered myself just putting my Kindle down onto the bed and looked into my imaginary camera man’s face thinking about the ending. I loved everything about this book, the friendship, the romance and the style of writing tied them up nicely. Also, apparently there’s going to be a TV series coming soon in the future so yes I’m 110% confident I’ll be crying with a bag of chips at the end too ;’) Seriously though, do yourself a favor and read this! 2. The Falling in Love Montage by Ciara Smyth Link to book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53066661-the-falling-in-love-montage
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Saoirse doesn’t believe in love at first sight or happy endings. If they were real, her mother would still be able to remember her name and not in a care home with early onset dementia. A condition that Saoirse may one day turn out to have inherited. So she’s not looking for a relationship. She doesn’t see the point in igniting any romantic sparks if she’s bound to burn out. But after a chance encounter at an end-of-term house party, Saoirse is about to break her own rules. For a girl with one blue freckle, an irresistible sense of mischief, and a passion for rom-coms. Unbothered by Saoirse’s no-relationships rulebook, Ruby proposes a loophole: They don’t need true love to have one summer of fun, complete with every cliché, rom-com montage-worthy date they can dream up—and a binding agreement to end their romance come fall. It would be the perfect plan, if they weren’t forgetting one thing about the Falling in Love Montage: when it’s over, the characters actually fall in love… for real. --> The Falling in Love Montage is one of favorite FF books because I couldn’t not relate myself with the main character, Saoirse. I loved her humor throughout the book. She came off a little strong at first and it did seem like she was annoying but there’s a reason why she’s so sarcastic and cynical and I loved that the book wasn’t all 100% about the romance (although that is one of the best parts of it). I binged this within two days and I was fairly satisfied at the end and I can’t not recommend this enough for those who want to read a happy queer romance book! ALSO I LOVE THE COVER SO MUCH 3. The Weight of the Stars by K. Ancrum Link to book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36952571-the-weight-of-the-stars
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Ryann Bird dreams of traveling across the stars. But a career in space isn’t an option for a girl who lives in a trailer park on the wrong side of town. So Ryann becomes her circumstances and settles for acting out and skipping school to hang out with her delinquent friends. One day she meets Alexandria: a furious loner who spurns Ryann’s offer of friendship. After a horrific accident leaves Alexandria with a broken arm, the two misfits are brought together despite themselves—and Ryann learns her secret: Alexandria’s mother is an astronaut who volunteered for a one-way trip to the edge of the solar system. Every night without fail, Alexandria waits to catch radio signals from her mother. And its up to Ryann to lift her onto the roof day after day until the silence between them grows into friendship, and eventually something more . . . In K. Ancrum’s signature poetic style, this slow-burn romance will have you savoring every page. --> The Weight of The Stars is mostly a quiet read, and when they say slow-burn, they really mean it. I loved this one a lot even thought it’s mostly a character-driven type of book. This is sort of an enemies-to-lovers type of book, though it went fairly quickly from enemies to friends. This book feels like something you should read slowly, just to savor it all and process everything on the pages.  4. Her Name in The Sky by Kelly Quindlen Link to book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20886492-her-name-in-the-sky
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Hannah wants to spend her senior year of high school going to football games and Mardi Gras parties with her tight-knit group of friends. The last thing she wants is to fall in love with a girl--especially when that girl is her best friend, Baker. Hannah knows she should like Wally, the kind, earnest boy who asks her to prom. She should cheer on her friend Clay when he asks Baker to be his girlfriend. She should follow the rules of her conservative Louisiana community--the rules that have been ingrained in her since she was a child. But Hannah longs to be with Baker, who cooks macaroni and cheese with Hannah late at night, who believes in the magic of books as much as Hannah does, and who challenges Hannah to be the best version of herself. And Baker might want to be with Hannah, too--if both girls can embrace that world-shaking, yet wondrous, possibility.  --> Her Name in The Sky is a beautiful coming age story between two girls in a conservative town. I did find this one slightly harder to read because I usually stray away from books like these but I think it’s good to pick something up like this from time to time. Don’t be scared away though because this has a good and happy ending to it. 5. Something to Talk About by Meryl Wilsner Link to book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/52915426-something-to-talk-about
Tumblr media
Synopsis: A showrunner and her assistant give the world something to talk about when they accidentally fuel a ridiculous rumor in this debut romance. Hollywood powerhouse Jo is photographed making her assistant Emma laugh on the red carpet, and just like that, the tabloids declare them a couple. The so-called scandal couldn't come at a worse time--threatening Emma's promotion and Jo's new movie. As the gossip spreads, it starts to affect all areas of their lives. Paparazzi are following them outside the office, coworkers are treating them differently, and a "source" is feeding information to the media. But their only comment is "no comment". With the launch of Jo's film project fast approaching, the two women begin to spend even more time together, getting along famously. Emma seems to have a sixth sense for knowing what Jo needs. And Jo, known for being aloof and outwardly cold, opens up to Emma in a way neither of them expects. They begin to realize the rumor might not be so off base after all...but is acting on the spark between them worth fanning the gossip flames? --> Another queer rom-com heading your way with this final rec! This was a fun and cute read about the romance between Jo, who is a Chinese Hollywood star and her assistant, Emma. I read this in a book slump and I loved it, its sort of a fake-dating trope like book and I’ve never read something like this outside of fanfiction so it was an enjoyable experience all the way! Also, when the author described Jo at one of the red carpets with her dress with pockets, my mind automatically imagined Gemma Chan from Crazy Rich Asians as her.

Alfred Nathaniel Hallam III Headcanons!!!
YES his name is Alfred Nathaniel Hallam yes he is a third no I do not take criticism
Childhood:
- Alfie got pneumonia as an infant. It messed up his lungs A Lot and affected his immune system and stuff as well so as a child he was constantly sick.
- He was in and out of hospital a lot and had a few surgeries so he was always on bed rest and isolated to everyone until he was about four years old.
- All of his medical issues caused his mum, Elizabeth Hallam, to dote on him a lot and suffocate him a bit. His father, Alfred Hallam II was the opposite and became pretty detached from being a father figure to Alfie.
- At a very young age, Alfred was introduced to stories since he couldn’t go anywhere. He was constantly reading in bed and learning often. Also his father made him study German just for funsies.
- His grandfather Wally, or Alfred Hallam I, introduced Alfred to Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland when he was three. Wally re-enacted the story to him in hospital a lot, and it inspired Alfred to fall in love with the story and take on the characters as his own. Wally got him his own copy after an especially difficult surgery, as well as a stuffed rabbit called Baby because he’s a three year old and it’s his little baby bunny :-) (he still ends up traveling with it as an adult and can’t leave without him).
- Around that time, his parents had his little brother, Elias (named after their mum) to be a backup plan or new start because they didn’t think Alfred would be much worth to them in the future. Yes they are shitty I know :/
- His parents have very very very high expectations for him because he’s now the older brother who has to do everything and he’s not their spoiled sick baby boy. They let Eli be a little shit and do anything he wants (like any little sibling but multiplied by like 10) while Alfie was expected to be the perfect child who dressed, acted, looked, and spoke the way they wanted.
- Alfie and his parents are very posh sounding because they live in Bromley, but he has a slight northern twang because of his grandfather. His parents hate it.
- When he’s four years old, after a long period of bedrest, Alfred is allowed to play alone outside, and he meets Alice. They refer to that day as their Golden Afternoon because it was the day they became the best of friends, and Alfred introduced Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland to her. (At first Alice was probably like Who are you and what are you doing in my backyard and Alfred is just SO EXCITED to introduce his favorite storybook in his entire existence so she budges and let’s him share his world with her)
- Alfie is a huge bookworm and while he adores learning and reading, his infatuation for learning mathematics (mostly so he could impress his father and maybe he would love him more if he knew “Big Kid Things” yes I know 🥺🥺🥺) manifested into an obsession with time, as well as the fear of being late or running out of time. He was surrounded by the idea of death from a young age and it influenced the way he thought about himself and what might happen to him if he didn’t listen to his parents. Their pressure brought out his anxiety disorder and depression at a very young age and it sticks with him throughout the rest of his life. His escape from all that death and sadness was Alice’s Adventures because he could always reset the clock at the end of the book and start again.
- When he’s five, Alfie spends some of his rich kid allowance on a copy of Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland for Alice, and in return she buys him a pocket watch a few years later. He adores it and never ever takes it off even as an adult.
- Alfred avoids his own home a lot and spends time with Alice in their conjoined backyard, playing pretend and acting out their story together. Sometimes, they spent the days inside her house (Mama Hallam is good friends with the Spencer parents, so she doesn’t mind them watching Alfie) and Alfred is well acquainted with Mr. and Mrs. Spencer enough where he considers them paternal figures...sort of. (Mr. Spencer is lowkey highkey Alfred’s bisexual awakening, and he’s one of Alfred’s first crushes; it doesn’t help that his own father constantly criticizes him and his interests or is absent from his life doing slimy rich man things. Daddy issues.)
- Mr. Spencer is a book lover (possibly librarian? Also sometimes professor :-)) and so he’s constantly discussing stories with Alfred and Alice on an intellectual level fit for the both of them. Most adults treat them like small children, so Alfred loves the attention.
- When Mr. Spencer dies in their early teenagehood, Alice and Alfred get incredibly attached to their storybook, and they find more comfort in it than ever. His death launched Alfred’s struggles with eating and sleeping, as well.
- This is one of the harder periods of time for Alfred, as he and Alice didn’t have any friends aside from each other. They’re incredibly codependent on one another.
- Mamie Van Eysen flirts with Alfred a lot during this time, but only as a joke. Either that, or she makes fun of his body and his personality—both in front of Alice, to make Alfred uncomfortable and Alice jealous. Other students bully him and Alice often.
- A lot of Alfie’s self image issues stem from this time, and his anxiety and depression worsen.
- When Alice’s mum dies when they’re fifteen, the pair runs away together. Alice almost gets assaulted, and Alfred wants to protect her. He gets into a giant fistfight with the older man. It’s bad enough to the point where the man is arrested and Alfred is hospitalized; it’s the hardest period he’s ever spent in hospital, even after all of his childhood issues. The police bring Alice and Alfred home and Alfred is banned from visiting Alice for a while. They communicate by speaking through the windows straight across from one another, or holding up signs from the window seats. While Alfred is healing, Mama Hallam is extra overbearing and critical to the point of being toxic and unhealthy for Alfred. His brother gets really mean around this time, too, as he doesn’t get the attention he once had. His and Alfred’s relationship get really rocky, and it’s never really mended in the future.
- The day Alice and Alfred can officially reunite, they never separate and they’re stuck at the hip from this point forward.
- When Alfred isn’t hanging out with Alice, he is at his grandfather’s hat shop, helping him stock or sell products. He puts his money towards a secret emergency fund in case he runs away again—this time without Alice. Alfred can never get past the front door, though.
University:
- When they reach uni, Alfie majors in mathematics and education, and minors in literature and statistics. He finds joy and love in his studies again, even if school itself affects his mental health.
- Alfred doesn’t want to be dependent on his parents, so he gets a job at a coffee shop and writes essays on the side for money. His caffeine addiction is dangerous at this point, and he often finds himself not eating or sleeping until it’s physically impossible not to take care of himself.
- Alfred puts all of his money towards renting an apartment with none other than Miss Tabatha Dedwin!!
- He and Tabbie are flatmates. Since Tabbie is best friends with Dodgy Dawkins, he meets him, as well. They’re friends for good after that, and that’s when Alfred starts to wind down, smoking with them, as well as his Alice.
Adulthood:
- After university, Alfred gets official treatment and is able to change his eating habits and caffeine addiction.
- Alfred learns about emotional support animals and gets a Giant Flemish Rabbit named Ollie to be his support animal. He’s giant and blue-eyed and looks like the spitting image of Alfred’s beloved White Rabbit. He’s a cutie.
- Alfred also did a little bit of gardening when he was getting treatment, and once he’s home he gets all sorts of plants and becomes a Plant Dad (with lots of research, of course!)
- In his mid twenties, Alfred finishes his extra schooling and becomes a primary school teacher. He blossoms into a happy, mostly healthy bisexual man with lots of plants and a sweet pet bunny and he wears funky disastrous outfits and has an amazing support system!!! (Alice, Wally, Tabs, and Dodgy :-) also Wally’s lover Denny the carpenter who comes out to Alfred when he’s an adult. He’s super shook but he gets even closer to Wally because they’re more similar than he believed)
- When he’s prob like 30 he goes to more school and becomes a university professor in the end of his years! Depending on who he ends up with he possibly has a few kids and a bunny and life is good!!! He’s teaching and learning constantly and it’s the life he’s always wanted even if his parents never accept his Christmas cards and his brother doesn’t answer his calls. He’s happier than he’s ever been.
- Also don’t tell Sage but when Alfie’s older his health problems catch up to him and he dies a relatively young death due to complications with his lungs :-( rip to my main man Alf
Little Headcanons:
- Alfie is the Biggest animal person besides maybe Tabbie. The ONLY exception is geese because one time he tried to feed a goose was brutally attacked by a goose and is afraid of them. He prob does birdwatching in his free time too
- Alfred’s fashion is HORRENDOUS @dodgefred and I made it up forever ago that he was a fashion disaster and ofc Colton’s costume...moving on. The reasoning for his fashion is he just picks pieces that make him happy that day and he sticks with it it doesn’t matter if he matches he’s just vibing.
- He reads his kids bedtime stories and he’s so devoted to being the father his own dad never ever was - When he becomes a professor it’s probably to teach Calculus and while his class makes people cry Very Often Alfie as a teacher himself is very very empathetic and comforting and yeah math is a bitch but he’ll take time out of his lunch breaks and extends his office hours way past the set time to help a student!!! He’s such a comfort to LGBT+ students and he probably has a few he discusses gay discourse in literature with (Tabbie absolutely introduced him to lesbian literature also also this isn’t a Tabs post but she stans Shakespeare :-)). Professor Alfie is the weird quirky prof. who stresses you out sometimes but also he goes on long tangents about his interests and how much he loves his significant other or children or baby bunny child Ollie!! He has so many plants and books in his classroom too it’s a Lot.
- Wayyyyy into theatre but he didn’t pursue acting onstage because his dad is homophobic :/ but he was in charge of lighting in school productions and fell in love with the stage
- He helps his friends study by acting out their textbooks for them and they always always ace their tests
- MUG COLLECTOR!!! He has so many mugs it’s not even funny his entire cupboard is taken over by them honestly
- Virgin who can’t drive
- Such a cursed and baseless hc I’m So Sorry but his first crush was the tomato from Veggie Tales
- Going off the last point he grew up in a Catholic household and he had one of those mums who was like you are Not allowed to watch tv unless it’s like. Veggie Tales or the Little Einsteins
- Alfie plays piano!!!! Also he did ballet when he was younger but he left because it was super bad for his mental and physical wellbeing and is convinced he’s a bad dancer because of his poor experience with the art
- Alice calls Alfred her Bunnie and he calls her My Alice/Allie/Allie Cakes
The end :-)

*Batfam fic-recs
*Some are Tim Drake Centric
**Some links are not working in mobile (and ONLY mobile) for some reason? And some titles that were bolded in the original post are ALSO not displaying on mobile correctly. Idk what to do about that, but you can still look up the fic, I guess.
The Bat’s Crest - livierambles
Note: I will always keep recommending this fic. It’s epic, thrilling, and hilarious and sometimes angsty. Also, everyone is confused, including the ones doing the confusing. Maybe especially the ones doing the confusing. Also, some Tim and Damian bonding, which is always nice.
Summary: Tragedy strikes the hero community when Bruce Wayne commits a crime so heinous even the best start asking for blood. However, as the heroes try to recover from the hit and carry out justice for their friends, a random assortment of people start acting oddly, including the current Speedy Tim Drake, a child hostage in Gotham, and a young man from an unremarkable circus amongst others. All of them seem intent on saving Bruce Wayne from the grasp of the Justice League for no apparent reason, going as far as betraying their previous allegiances.
Unknown to the Justice League, these people are equally confused. Clearly they're stuck in another dimension, but how do they get back? How did they even get here? Who else is stuck in this world? And how long will Tim's patience last? Back home, the Bat was a planetary symbol that struck fear in the hearts of criminals. In this new world, it has no meaning, save for the handful of stranded souls.
In the Shadows - Kieron_ODuibhir
(shortened) Summary:
“I’m not like you.”
The cowl still looked like something he was wearing, but Clark knew it was not. It flexed like skin when Batman narrowed his blank white eyes and said, “I can see you know that.”
Chirp - AmariT
Summary: Every piece of the signal Tim unlocked revealed more locks, and by the time he broke through the last one, he was already mentally rehearsing his many upcoming talk show appearances. 'Yes,' he told the interviewer, 'it was difficult for me, a ten-year-old genius, to break open the worldwide alien conspiracy. That's why it took a whole hour.'
When the crackling audio started, he expected some weird alien language. Maybe squawks and high-pitched squeals mixed with musical woofs. Maybe they wouldn't talk at all, and images would beam directly into his mind. Maybe they'd talk in practiced English with a Midwestern drawl like their other resident alien.
Instead he heard a low, guttural voice growling out of his computer speakers. "Robin," it said. "Are you in position?"
A Better Cage - Mangaluva
Note: I was absolutely DELIGHTED to see a Young Justice Crossover with the Justice Lords (Earth-50) from the animated Justice League series, which is near and dear to my heart. I admit I haven’t really had much time to hunker down and read this, but even skimming, it’s an intriguing piece of work. Also, Justice Lords.
Summary: Wally's grateful to have woken up at all, really. He just doesn't know what to make of the world he's woken up in. At least they want to find a way to his world as much as he does, if not exactly for the same reasons...
Common People - AmariT
Note: The Bat boys are all Bruce’s blood sons, but it still feels very much like a found family. I haven’t really read everything in this series, but I feel the author has an amazing grip on all the characters. Lovely and heartwarming.
Summary: His whole life, Jason’s mom had told him his dad was Bruce Wayne, but he’d never been dumb enough to actually believe it. They lived in a rundown, one-room apartment in the worst part of town, and in every single picture he’d ever seen of that rich bastard he was wearing a suit or sipping champagne worth more than everything they’d ever owned.
But if he wasn’t Bruce Wayne’s kid, then what the hell was he doing sitting outside the man’s office in Wayne Towers?
Red Robin and the Hood - momoejaku
Note: Haven’t read this in a while, but it made an impression. Though it’s a fic set during the Red Robin arc, it very much is about both Tim and Jason. Plus, it fleshes out the Pru and Z a bit more, too.
Summary: Bruce Wayne is dead. Superman brought back his body, and the family mourned him, holding a quiet funeral in secret so that the legacy of Batman could live on. But not everyone has been able to put him to rest.
Reeling from the loss of Bruce, his identity as Robin and his trust in his family, Tim Drake sets out on a personal quest that will take him across the world to prove what he knows in his heart: that Bruce Wayne is alive.
Though intending to make his way alone, Tim reluctantly accepts help from his predecessor, Jason Todd, who knows from personal experience that death is not always as final as it seems.
Together, they are Red Robin and the Hood.
Liminal Spaces - Calamityjim
Note: Skimmed this only since I’ve been busy, BUT it does look well-written, and I’m always a sucker for alternate dimension/dimension travel intervention-type of fix-its. It’s a very specific trope.
Summary:
Bruce's habit of collecting strays is not limited by dimension.
Or
When Young Justice Batman comes across an angsty, seemingly abandoned by his Batman Tim Drake, he decides to step up to the plate and parent the crap out of him.
Little Bird’s Vengeance - KatHarkness-Katara
Note: Crossover with Avengers. Awesome fic with Tim and Jason and some Outsider POV (via the Avengers) of these dimensional stragglers. I think Tim’s team shows up in the later chapters, too. If you’re reading on mobile, it’s still very much worth reading despite FF.net’s horrible format and abundance of advertisements in the mobile version.
Summary: Why is life never simple? Red Robin's ended up worlds away from home once again, and now what's he to do? What do the Avengers want from him; do SHIELD have another agenda; and is there any way back? Pre-New 52. No slash. Rated for inevitable language/violent themes.
A Displaced Red Robin - dragonprincess1988
Note: Worth reading despite FF.net’s horrible format and abundance of advertisements in the mobile version. Well-written fic! EMOTIONS! I love them. Younger Dick Grayson is adorable, Tim is a competent fixer-upper for other people but not so much himself. He’s kind of angsty and making YJ Dick want to keep him (and YJ Bruce, too, if you read between the lines). On the plus side, seems like he’s making good friends with Young Justice Roy. This fic was written before certain episodes of YJ came out, though, and the fic reflects/will continue to reflect that. Still, I give it five stars.
Author’s Summary: Tim gets transported to the cartoon Young Justice world, and he's not sure he knows how to deal with it. Attention: If you want to know about Artemis or people from Tim's world the final note on my profile is for you. Also, a special thank you to angel-gidget over at Tumblr, who made the wonderful cover art for this story.
The Till-then From the Ever Since - Keiron O_Duibhir
Note: Fandom classic. Definitely a must-read for Batfam fans, in my humble opinion.
Summary: It began, or seemed to begin, with Jason.
Usually that would have meant something in the order of fire and explosion and probably at least one gunshot wound, but for once (as Tim said, sourly), it wasn't actually Jason's fault.
The Wayne Family Ghost - pupeez4eva
Note: Please read this. Especially if you’re sad or anxious or just have time. I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s my go-to cheer-up fic. Absolutely hysterical.
Summary: In which Bruce realizes that having a legally dead son, who regularly hangs around the family, might be slightly problematic.
Bloodline - chibi_nightowl
Note: Complicated family dynamics, this time centering around Tim, Selina, Bruce and, surprisingly, Damian. Jason and Dick make an appearance as supportive big bros, too. It works. Take a read, it isn’t that long.
Summary:
“Mr. Drake, I can’t think of a better way to say this, so I’ll just be blunt. This file is for your first adoption. By the Drakes.”
Tim blinked. “My what?”
“You were adopted as a newborn by Jack and Janet Drake.”
“Excuse me, but what the fuck are you talking about?”
Talon!Tim AU Series by keeptogethernow
Note: Found family, from a different angle. Cool fic and well-written.
Summary of Tso’ape Mumbichi, first in the series: Ten years ago, two people made a deal with the devil--unlimited funds in exchange for their child. And now it's time to pay up. But there's no way to ensure that the child will cooperate.
Shutterbug Series by goldkirk
Note: Exactly what it says on the tin! Found family.
Summary:
Tim Drake is thirteen, runs the famous BatWatch blog that has spiraled hilariously out of control, has absentee parents that suit his purposes just fine, is training himself to run the streets at night, and is doing absolutely peachy, thank you.
Alfred and Jason disagree, and get Dick and Bruce involved in figuring out their weird next door neighbor kid’s life. Everything goes uphill from there.
Thursday’s Child - anthalogia
Note: Well-written and has found family and Tiny!Tim? Automatic win.
Summary:
He’s not the first child with nowhere else to go that Bruce Wayne has taken in. Dick Grayson was the first and the most high-profile – because no one would have thought Bruce Wayne was interested in ever raising a child, let alone the orphaned son of circus performers – but Jason was maybe just as much of a shock to society for being a street kid who came out of seemingly nowhere. Tim Drake is ordinary by comparison – his parents died in a plane accident. He can’t think of anything very special about him except that he met Bruce a few times when his parents hosted parties to keep in touch with Gotham society.
Or, tiny Tim Drake is adopted by the Waynes a little earlier than scheduled.
We’re Not Driving (How did we get here?) - TimTheToaster
Note: Short and sweet, a little angsty, and then very sweet.
Summary:
Tim stared at his phone, as if that would change what was on the screen.
Dick Grayson @FlyingDGrayson
It took some doing, and in some cases a little blackmail, but we've finally got the whole family together for a movie night! #WayneManor #movienight #familytime #schedulingisanightmare

Take It Back Now Y’all - TimTheToaster
Note: And Tiny!Jason has made his appearance. Also, Tim, I am begging you to please take care of yourself—ah, Bruce has made his appearance. Interesting. Also, I gotta say this author is good.
Summary:
There was absolutely no way this sunshine was from Gotham in April.
Not possible.
Which meant, Tim was no longer in Gotham, in April.
(In which Tim finds himself in the past, and tries to do the right thing. It's more complicated than he'd like.)
Takes a Little Time, Takes a Lotta Twine (To Get Us Back Together) - TimTheToaster
Note: Emotional Hurt/Comfort, beginning of reconciliation, and brotherhood. A satisfying, cathartic moment during the Red Robin arc to soothe your heart.
Summary:
Tim was in Gotham.
Tim had pretty specifically been avoiding thinking about Dick as much as possible for the last few weeks.
For the last year, really. No need to open that can of carnivorous worms.
Dick had other plans.
Everybody’s Heard (Bird is the Word) - TimTheToaster
Red Robin Era ANGST, but like, deliciously well-written. Also, protective Dad Bruce is always epic. Light bashing of Green Arrow and BC, though. But considering the situation (in this fic), kind of warranted.
Summary:
5 times Batman heard other heroes talking about his wayward brother,
And 1 time they were talking about his son.
A Choice to Make - scorbusfics
Note: fresh and interesting premise! Cool world building, too.
Summary: They have to choose. Dick and Bruce have to choose one person each to save, and one to disappear through the door.
“Send one of us,” Dick says fiercely, not for the first time. His face is dark and angry and desperate, eyes flicking from brother to brother. “Send one of us instead. I won’t choose.”
“Neither will I,” Bruce says.
But Tim knows.
Secret Places - RenaRoo
It’s ANGST, but the author knows how to use it well. Also, Jason’s line at the end killed me. Damn.
Summary: Tim Drake goes missing. The search to find him begins.

Is there anything dumber than a reverse-age AU? No, seriously, Dick is the paragon because he was the first Robin and antedated Speedy, Aqualad and Aquagirl, and Kid Flash. And you can go down the list. Tim has to follow Jason because Jason would be different without the death trauma: Tim himself had a bit of a complex about not "deserving" the mantle Dick created and Jason sanctified. Then we get to Damian, who is young enough to be Dick's son.
Like, I’m not trying to shit on people who just like reverse age AUs for the fluffy aspects a lot of them tend to have, to be fair. Some people are just looking for fluff, and I get that. Those AUs don’t appeal to me for many reasons I’ve already gotten into in depth, but on a surface level I mean, its not really a big deal to switch things up sometimes for the hell of it. But in any kind of in-depth examination of that premise, I feel there’s a whole lot of missed opportunity left to explore in that....with that being I guess the thing that nags at me most?
I mean....I would be genuinely interested in reading a reverse age AU that actually acted as kind of a....”It’s A Wonderful Life” examination of what happens if Dick isn’t the first Batkid, but the youngest. I think it can still be plausible for Tim, Jason, Cass and Dick to all end up adopted even if Damian is the oldest.....but the one thing I’ve never seen any reverse age AU examine is the part I’d reeeeeeaally be interested in, like you alluded to with the other original sidekicks....
And that’s the element that’s really missing from reverse age AUs for me, personally.....acknowledgment of Dick’s impact not just on his family’s formation....but the DC universe as a whole. Dick wasn’t just the first Robin. He was the first child hero, period. He was what started the whole movement, not just within his own family, but outside of it as well. Without his example, would Donna and Garth have left their homes to become heroes for the surface world/Man’s world? Would Wally have even tried replicating Barry’s experiment, thinking that it was even possible for a kid like him to be a hero? If Bruce’s first child and protégé was his biological son, would Oliver have thought to take Roy in as his ward instead of just making sure he ended up with a good home?
Look, I love Damian. But Damian is not Dick, and it doesn’t really track that their positions could be switched and wind up with nothing else being all that majorly different......I guess the thing about reverse age AUs that makes them really just not my cup of tea is like....to me, it seems like they should result in HUGE ripple effects and alteration to the Batfamily and the DC Earth as a whole....and those ripple effects imo ARE the story, ARE the things really begging to be explored by that premise to me.....but its not really what I think most readers and writers of those stories are looking for, hence the disconnect for me.
Like....as I said, I do like Damian, but for who he is. And who he is, is just....not the bright, shining example who captures the imagination and inspires other people the way Dick inspires people. And that’s okay! Because its not a knock against anyone else to not be that, its just who they are.....and who they are isn’t Dick Grayson. Everything about Dick Grayson specifically, is what led to the trend of child heroes both on a meta level and an in universe level. Nothing about that is accidental.....those only appeared in more and more comics because Dick Grayson, the original Robin, captured the imagination of readers and appealed to them and made them want to see MORE child heroes.....just like the sight of a young child in bright colors and cracking puns even as he kept pace with one of the most dark and infamous heroes of the DC Earth captured the imagination of other young people like Dick and with talents and powers of their own and made them sit up and say hey, maybe that could be me too....if someone my age can be BATMAN’S partner, why couldn’t I be Wonder Woman’s/Green Arrow’s/Aquaman’s/The Flash’s?
And I just don’t really see Damian having that effect on peers, you know? Because Damian is like his father in temperament and preferences, whereas Dick was deliberately a contrast by his own choices. Damian wanted to BE like Bruce growing up hearing his father’s legend....and then he wanted to be more like Dick, when he realized Dick’s own strengths and attributes, IMO.....but as the first child, without Dick’s example? Damian would be more inclined to be a mini-Batman, calling himself something like Batboy and molding himself in his father’s image......which means keeping to the shadows. Being more myth than in-your-face-indisputable-fact like Dick was as Robin. And Bruce would have been more inclined to see this as a good thing, and keep Damian as much beside him in the shadows as possible, unlike Dick who just wasn’t suited to that and wasn’t interested in trying to be that.
So I think that a huge potential ripple is right there from the start....like maybe there would be other Batkids and protégés for Bruce after Damian, but would there be other teen heroes? Would there at least maybe have been a delayed start to the other teen heroes, not inspired by Damian directly but more just parallel evolutions who took a little more time to find the inspiration and opportunities to impress themselves upon their mentors? Would even Gothamites know for sure that Batman even had a partner, or partners plural, or would they be more rumor than symbol, like Dick was as Robin, and the other Robins were inspired to be when following HIS example, rather than BRUCE’S example?
That’s what I would really love to see from the reverse age AU premise, personally. And why the ones that exist just don’t really draw me in - they all seem to by premise alone just kinda devalue Dick’s effect on his surroundings as well as just his character as a whole.....there’s the impression that it doesn’t really matter if Dick came first, that anyone could have had the same effects and results that he did, when like.....that’s just not true, IMO. And it is kinda an inherent knock against his character because it sort of runs with the idea that Dick’s no big deal, that his precedent is no big deal, that he wasn’t necessary, for the DC Earth to be the one we all are drawn to today, and that’s just....I don’t see it.
I mean, so much of that is what draws me to his character, personally....the fact that he IS so much bigger than just himself, that his actions and choices have such far-reaching implications. Dick Grayson IS the ripple effects that he’s caused from day one of his creation.....and ignoring that, acting like that’s no big deal and like it could just as easily have been any other character when to my mind it wouldn’t have been any other character because no other character has made the choices he has, specifically, for the reasons he has, specifically.....like, I think that has a lot to do with a lot of the almost implicit or absent-minded....not even contempt, but just....non-interest in his character, that many fans of other Robins have.
Like, what if Dick wasn’t the first - that’s the basic premise of these particular AUs. But the conclusion almost all of them result in is....nothing else would really be all that different. And that’s just not that far away from saying that Dick’s character is largely irrelevant and inconsequential....when to my mind, obviously, nothing is further than the truth. Yeah, what if Dick wasn’t the first? Honestly, truly asked and examined.....what would be different? Not just about his family but the whole DC Earth?
Because I think the differences would be enormous.
LOL, this is the 80th anniversary of this character’s creation. A character who has consistently been one of the highest profile, most visible characters in the entire DC universe for pretty much all of those 80 years, in one way or another. Who has only spent part of one issue dead, in all of that time. And in none of that time retired, or absent, or not in some way still at the center of the cape community.
How do you pretend that a character with that much history, that much presence.....has no real distinct impact on everything he’s connected to? That he could be plucked out of that tapestry and easily and seamlessly switched with a character who is noted for being the night to his day, just as Dick originally was the day to Bruce’s night? It just doesn’t make sense, IMO.

Uh. Sorry if it seems weird to ask but have you considered what would happen if Audrey 2 , from little shop of horrors has been put into the neighborhood in welcome home. I don't know if you have heard of it but I wanted to ask in case you did.
Of course! I love crossovers. Now, I haven't necessarily seen Little Shop of Horrors, but I did recognize the name from the dentist's song that I listened to. I also know a little about Audrey 2, who is the plant, I believe. So, I decided to do a bit of research for this, because from what I knew, I thought this would be interesting! Sorry if it isn't really entirely accurate or if some things feel out of character. As I said, I haven't seen it entirely myself, instead only seeing clips. (I did listen and watch Mean Green Mother and I now know I have to watch it at some point omg.)
Audrey 2 from Little Shop of Horrors in the Neighborhood from Welcome Home:
TW: Swearing, Manipulation
🪴So, the Mean Green Mother from Outer Space somehow found itself in a land full of puppets... Very kind puppets... Who, by the way, seem VERY gullible due to being from a kid's show... It can work with this.
🪴It needs to get back to the world of humans, somehow, so it will gladly sweet talk and manipulate the neighbors into helping. It can't eat puppets, as they aren't human. It would probably say something about missing its home to make them feel bad for it. It would work on everyone except for Frank.
🪴Why wouldn't it work on Frank? Well, the way the language of his fellow neighbors changes is the main reason. Mostly Wally's, due to Wally spending the most time with Audrey 2. Due to Frank owning a lot of random books, he has some on different sayings, dialects, and other things to do with language. It seems like Audrey 2 has decided to cause havoc in the little community on its way out.
🪴One day, Frank saw Wally and Julie standing outside. Wally was holding a baseball bat, and right as Frank was walking by, he heard him tell Julie "I'm gonna bust your balls!" in the most joyful, and excited way. Needless to say, Frank choked on the air and had to go check to make sure nothing bad was happening. Wally looked extremely confused as Frank chastised him, pointing to Julie and saying "We are playing baseball. "Busting your balls" means hitting baseballs, kickballs, and other types of sports balls, right?" Soon enough, despite Frank trying to tell everyone what it really means, everybody in town is using "I'm gonna bust your balls" while playing sports.
🪴Another example is when Frank saw Wally comforting a sad Poppy over a burnt cake. Everyone had gathered to help her bake it, including Audrey 2. When Wally said "You don't mean shit!" in response to Poppy telling everyone how bad she felt for messing up the cake, Audrey 2 laughed so freaking hard. Wally, and everyone besides Frank, thinks it means something like "Shit means that you suck. Saying somebody doesn't mean shit means that they don't suck."
🪴Frank would probably put the two and two together. This foul language has only started after Audrey 2 came around and Audrey 2 already seems a bit rude at times. It always wants to do things its own way, or no way. It is more bossy than Sally when it comes to plays, likes to trip Eddie on his way to deliver mail, and it sometimes trashes Howdy's Store! Frank would be the main one working to get Audrey 2 back to wherever it came from, succeeding very quickly through sheer willpower, alone.
🪴Needless to say, the neighborhood was never the same after that plant arrived.

The Day It Happened
I regret nothing! Enjoy!
It’s early afternoon when they get the call. Irey knows from the way Damian tenses that it’s time for Impulse and Robin. A studio apartment required a bit of special maneuvering when it came to hiding their uniforms, but they’re nothing if not resourceful. Her uniform’s familiar feel makes suiting up easier, even if the middle is a bit tighter than normal. She can’t help but steal a look at her boyfriend as he pulls on his tunic. The scars crisscrossing along his spine always send a painful ache into her heart. But now’s not the time for that.
She ties one of her boots, going to that special part of her brain before a mission. They’ve done this hundreds of times before. But Damian’s never knelt in front of her, tying her other boot for her. His incredible memory allows him to tie her laces the exact way she does. She frowns at the tight lines around his mouth. He’s too young to have such deep lines.
Her ungloved hands are so, so soft as she cups his cheeks, making him look at her. His stubble scratches her, which makes her smile a bit. “You need to shave after the fight.”
“You didn’t complain about it last night.” Damian’s tease eases her worry a bit.
“Well, Mr. Wayne, I was preoccupied with more important things.” She presses a loving kiss to his mouth. The familiar taste of tea and honey calms her more than anything else ever could. Damian pulls away from her first.
         “I love you, nuri.”
         “I love you too, Dames.”
“If we make it through this—”
         “When.” She corrects.
“When we make it through this, I want to talk to about our future. About moving forward…together.”
Irey won’t deny the flutter of hope that her heart gives. She kisses him again, “I’d like that. Now, let’s go save the world.”
--
Once the battle’s in full swing, there’s no way to tell who’s winning. Nightstar and Green Lantern fly through the air, providing support to their friends on the ground. Nightstar’s bright purple starbolts vaporize the monsters easily. Green Lantern uses her ring to keep them in a contained area. Little Red Hood’s perched on a building, firing arrow after trick arrow into the insanity, letting her team know where the worse parts are. Superboy slams his fist into a monster’s leathery chest while a mutated Abuse chucks another through a wall. Velocity’s a blur, running through the crowd and disabling them however he can. Impulse and Robin have separated from the group, trying to find Heretic. Robin pulls her back as a monster crashes into the wall beside them. He takes it out with one swift strike of his katana.
“Fifty meters forward then hang a left.” Robin tells her. She nods, already moving forward. He catches her arm and pulls her to his chest. Impulse’s quick to return his burning kiss. Call it adrenaline or fear, but she just knows something’s going wrong.  Her boyfriend pulls back, eyes hidden behind that domino mask, “I love you, Irey.”
“I love you, too, Damian.” She kisses him again before they move forward. Impulse goes ahead of him to scout. He’s just entering the room as she hits the wall across the room.  She crumples to the ground.
“IMPULSE!” He checks her. She’s breathing and her pulse strong.
“Thought she could stop me. Tell me, brother, what do you see in the little whore?” Robin grits his teeth at the clone’s insult. After making sure she’s ok, he straightens up.
“It’s more of what she brings out in me.” He charges Heretic. They exchange quick blows. The Teen Wonder matches the speed of the strikes, but barely the fercocity of them.
“Tell me. What does it feel like to lose so much potential for such a pathetic reason?”
“Fuck you!” Robin snarls. Something goes wrong. As he brings his katana down, Heretic’s sword drives through his chest. Breath catches in his throat as he blinks. Shit. Shit. Shit.
“Pathetic.” The clone tosses Robin to the side. Doesn’t even bother to see where he lands, Heretic presses a button on his uniform. “Fall back. Our work here is done.”
The heroes outside have no idea why the creatures pull back. Only that they do. They regroup on the ground, covered in blood, guts, sweat, and grime.
“Everyone ok?” Little Red Hood asks, holding her wrist.
“As good as we can be.” Nightstar grunts, holding her bloody side. Nasty throw into a wall, but it shouldn’t scare. “Where’s Impulse and Robin?”
“I saw them go in there early.” Abuse points to the building. “I think Rob said something about Heretic?”
Velcoty presses on his earpiece, “Impulse? This is Velocity and the team. What’s your 20?”
         Silence.
“Impulse? Do you copy?” Still no response from his sister. “Impulse? Sissy?”
“Something’s wrong.” Milagro’s words send fresh fear into their hearts.
The team gets to the top of the building as soon as they can. Maybe their leaders will be fine. Heretic got scared and ran off. That has to be what happened, right?
         Right?
“IREY!” Jai runs to his sister’s unconscious form. Long red hair falls from her ponytail, painful bruises forming along her jaw. Mar’i kneels down and fells for Irey’s pulse. “Mar’i, tell me—”
“She’s alive. Strong pulse and her breathing seems ok. Where’s Damian?”
Jai stays with his sister as the group moves a bit farther into the building. They barely go fifty feet when Mar’i screams. Damian’s body stares at them. Jade green eyes glossed over, tanned skin unnaturally pale. They don’t bother to check for a pulse. The gaping hole in his chest answers that question for them. Jon’s barely able to catch Mar’i as she collapses, still screaming, barely able to see through his blurry eyes. Colin falls to his knees, staring at his friend with tears streaming down his face. Milagro doubles over, vomiting.
“Omega?” Oracle’s voice in their ear coms doesn’t soothe them like they normally do. “Omega, do you copy?”
“Little Red Hood here, Oracle.” Lian answers.
“Is everyone ok? Some of your trackers are off-line.”
Lian looks at the body before her. Her voice cracks, “No. No we’re not. We need a medic for Impulse…and a body bag.”
“Little Red, Who’s down?” The 19-year-old struggles to find her voice. “Lian?”
“Robin. We need the bag for Robin.”
--
None of the young heroes can find it in themselves to leave. The League’s there in less than 20 minutes. It’s a painful sight. Nightstar cries into Nightwing’s chest as Robin’s carried away. Abuse and Superboy watch their best friend leave, silent tears cutting paths through the dirt on their faces. Green Lantern and Little Red Hood barely keep themselves together as they fill in their superiors. Velocity and Flash go with Impulse to the hospital.
Linda Park-West meets her son and husband at the hospital. The doctors, having worked with the hero community before, get Irey to a private room before removing her uniform. The bruises from earlier are already fading from her body as they work.
“When do you think she’ll wake up?” Linda asks her husband, holding her daughter’s hand,
“I’m not sure, babe. I’m not sure.” Wally looks at his son, who’s refused to leave Irey’s side. “Buddy. You need to go get checked out.”
“I’m fine, Dad.” Jai’s body is tight as he stares at his sister.
         “Jai—”
“Mom, please.” Jai’s voice breaks. Wally puts a hand on his son’s shoulder but doesn’t say anything. Linda reaches over, caressing Jai’s cheek. They know him well enough to leave it alone.
         “Love you, sweet boy.”
“Love you too, Mom.” The family doesn’t talk for a while, letting the steady beeping of Irey’s heart monitor fill the room. Irey’s breathing doesn’t change. Jai and Wally wonder how she’s going to feel when she wakes up.
“Dr. and Mrs. West?” A young woman comes into the room. “I’m Dr. Sarah White. I’ll be your daughter’s physician.”
“Nice to meet you. This our son, Jai.” His parents shake hands with the doctor. Jai nods at the doctors, still not moving his body. “Is Irey ok?”
“So far, all the tests are showing that she’s ok. We’re going to monitor her over night to make sure she and the baby—”
         “The what?” Linda interrupts.
“The baby. Didn’t you know she’s pregnant?”          “No. She didn’t mention it to us.” Wally looks at Jai.
“Dad, do you think Irey would have gone into the field if she knew?” Jai looks down. Irey had been eating a bit more, but that didn’t mean anything. They’ve always eaten what they want, when they want, and as much as they want. Overactive metabolism for the win. There weren’t any other signs. This can’t be happening.
“Is there anyway to tell how far along she is? I mean. She’s a speedster, is there a chance—”
“We can do a full work up on her. Nothing invasive or unnecessary.”
After discussing all possible options, his parents make him go back to the tower after Dr. White’s visit. He doesn’t want to leave his sister, but it’s not up for discussion based on his mother’s tone.
The tower’s silent when he gets back. Not surprising. Mar’i’s probably with her family at the Manor. Jon’s open door shows empty drawers and an unmade bed. Angry music blasts from Colin’s room. He finds a note with Milagro’s neat handwriting on it, telling them she’s going to Oa for a few days. He locks the doors before heading to Star City. Lian’s at home, thankfully, sitting on their bed, face buried in her hands.
“Hey, baby.” Jai sits next to her and stares at the wall in front of him. Lian lifts her head, staring at the wall with him. They don’t talk for a few minutes, neither really sure what to say.
“The whole team’s out of the field until further notice.” Lian says dryly.
“Sounds about right. I’m guessing we all have to meet with Dinah before we’re cleared?” He asks.
         “Yep. How’s Irey?”
         “Still unconscious…She’s pregnant.”
“W-What?” Lian looks at him. He nods, tears finally filling his eyes.
“Yeah. She’s pregnant. And Damian’s dead.” That breaks them. They hold each other as they cry. Even though the tears will do nothing to stop the pain.

Fantasy Au - Birdflash
Okay so Talon-Grayson posted the fantasy au of dick (witch) and Wally (phoenix) and like it, so I decided writting a little shot that ended way to big. It was originally based on this Post and the original AU idea is from mandalababble.
Plot: Dick getting in trouble and is going to be burned alive by the villagers
Rating: All ages.
Word acount: 1447 words.
Killing the witch
“He is the witch boy”
“Quick take him.”
I kept running trying to find a way out, but I knew it was too late. I just heard the people shouting for me to come back. I could see just the torches and knives the people were holding, and for my luck they had tricked me into running to the town hall. There was a way out wasn’t it, it had to be one. No, there wasn’t.
I stumble upon the place a priest came out that was following the judge of the town. Maybe I could still gather some time, it would grant an escape. As the judge started approaching and the priest was praying people stopped talking and stared the scene. He stopped some meters away from me. “My people are in distress since they claim you have doing witchcraft; do you know what they are talking about peasant.”
“I do not sir, I was minding my business when they started chasing me. I run or what could I have done against your men?” I know this was already losing, but the second I got to escape, this would be just a bad dream. “So you will not mind getting into a court, just to secure the facts. – The judge said in a coldhearted tone. – Take him, do not feel attacked is just a security measure.”
After that I got scoured into the town council while the people just kept staring at me. As the judge turned around he called some people six normal villagers who also enter the council. Once there I kneeled before them the six rounded the place and only guards and the priest entered, everyone took place, and the court begun. “Grayson, is that your name?”
“Yes sir.”
“These six folks have affirmed they saw you performing witchcraft outside the town, is there anything you can declare before listening to them.”
“I was not doing anything like that else I was practicing my trade, - Well and my trade is being a magic, but no. – I come as a priest trying to spread the old knowledge, those are ignorant afraid of the true power of Christ.”
Did he believe that.
“Our first testimony, Jerome what did you witness?”
One of the idiots there started talking, “Well I was searching for a rabbit to kill when I passed and saw him playing with a blue fire.”
“Yeah, also he chanted by reading a satanic book. It was on his cloak.” Please no
“Grayson can you give me the cloak, it just for the revision.” Please no, I cannot, but if I refuse they will not believe and this can get worse, I took it out and gave it to one guard, as soon in the hands of the judge he started searching for anything on it. He found by spell book, this is not going well for me. He started skimming it and his white face turned even more pale, was that possible. In horror all the audience gasped, even an old woman started sobbing. “You said you came from god’s path, this is a book handwritten by the devil, you have lied here.”
Of course.
“You don’t understand sir this are the commands of Isus Hristos, I am a firmly follower that knows the truly way to get too him is to pray in the ancient language of the religion. What you are holding is not a bible but it is all the devotions we have to realize to be a disciple of his mind.”
Everyone started muttering but the judge quickly recovered. “So you are saying you speak Romanian only to communicate with god.”
“More than that sir, Romania is my home, since I was a young child I have Isus and open my heart with to him. Not so long ago my studies as a priest were finally over and decide to go outside to the world to teach gods steps. I always leave on fear that one day you will contempt me for this and I was right.”
I had to stay with my head down for the insult I just gave, but anyways everyone seemed to be buying my lies and soon I would be out of this, only is matter of time. The people were so tense and some even crying. I saw the priest run out of the court now without this would be more easily to finish. I was feeling tired and started losing the track of time.
It was until the priest came back but now he companied with an older woman. “Sir, this is the mother Talia, - The priest announced. – She is the last one known in this town that also can speak the Romanian dialect.” Please no. The judge lends her my book. I am now dead.
“Ohhh father please forgive this people. Please just punish the sinner… Please just punish the sinner… Please just punish the sinner…” She kept respiting those words it was until they calmed her down she started talking. Everyone was impatient, yes I was too. “That book was created by Lucifer and his demons, everyone who read even one passage now is cursed. But maybe our father can save us.
Please no. I do not want to die, please no. Let me go.
“It has been declared, you are guilty. – The judge stated the testimonies gave a cold look, and nodded together. – You have practice witchcraft, cursed nine innocent humans, and lied in the court. The witch-demon will be punished.”
“PLEASE NO!!! LET ME GO!!! THAT IS NOT TRUE!!! LET ME GO!!!”
This cannot end like this; I need to go. I cannot die, please, I do not want to die. I could just keep screaming, I need to scape but how, how… Please help, I cannot die. I felt my voice cracking. Let me go. Please. Let me go.
The next thing I knew was getting knocked by a guard, I could not even have heard the sentence, but I know how witches are punished.
When I woke up, realized I was moored into a pole, I was right, they were going to burn me. Logs of wood were being put by my feet and people were just gathered screaming. That was all I was going to die here, all because I was bored and wanted to play a little bit. I couldn’t cast a spell they put cloth in my mouthed that stopped me from talking.
“Today we are getting revenge on the demon who lived within us, he has tried to kill us, he even cursed the ones who brought it to justice. - While he was talking I had to do something. Quick. I didn’t have my cloak so I couldn’t tele transport. I cannot escape. - But now we will see it a demon can stand the fire from hell.” As soon as the judge ended this he threw his torch into the logs and it started setting on fire. I tried my last resource and tried screaming trough the rag a simple spell
Cof asrepsid
The flames attacked some villagers, hopefully they would live it would not shut them down but give me at least more time. If I got to scape nobody will see because they might be backing off. By now everyone had escaped away from the fire, I could not see anyone near, this was my opportunity but did it matter I would not be able to escape.
“Remember Richard, never try to play near normal people.”
“Why? Mommy.”
“They are too afraid from us. If they find you they will hurt, you. Promise?”
“Promise.”
“I am sorry mom…” That was it I already felt my lungs filled with the smoked. Not even a change to breath. The fire was going to kill me slowly and quick at the same time. Witch was good and bad. I did not even want to think about anything, I will just have asked why did I show them my ability. I did not hurt them why I deserved this.
Then when I gave my last glance to the world I saw an angel. One made of fire, with beautiful wings and a hair with the fierce fire. My time was to go, I felt a warm touch when he laid a hand on me and gave me a smile. That was when I wondered, if angels were real or it was the oxygen going away from me.
I lost the track of what happened but the angel took me away from the furious flames before I could give my last breath. Maybe now I was safe.
Thank you very much for reading this, I know i should improve my writting but I wanted to contribute the thing.
THANK YOU

Infinity, Chapter 2: Eternal
An AU where the 13 studio characters are immortal. In this chapter, Henry finds a way out of the timeloop, and Sammy Lawrence and Thomas Connor must enter the sketch dimmension to rescue the ink creatures!
---
After what felt to Henry like at least 24 hours, he dragged himself into the chamber to fight the ink demon, and realized just how stupid his plan was. Sure, sit there and wait, make sure Joey won’t be awake when I complete the loop. Well, now I have to fight the ink demon and I can barely keep my eyes open. This would be painful.
Henry played the tape in the throne room, as he had a million times before. The ink demon appeared before Henry and did its slow transformation. While he busied himself with that, Henry put in the end tape. “Wow, why did I never do that befo-”
-Henry was smacked through the wall and landed on his stomach, leaving him in the halls to begin the same runaround as always. Even having done this hundreds of times before, Henry was wracked with adrenaline as he obeyed his muscle memory to stick close to the walls, hide in nooks the demon couldn’t get to. He made no wrong turns in activating the switches. Next was getting the ink demon to run into the ink tubes, which posed no problem either. However, as Henry ran back to the throne room, Bendy grabbed onto Henry’s leg, lifted him towards his mouth, and sniffed at him at a bear. Henry knew he couldn’t die, but my God would this be unpleasant. Bendy decided that Henry was edible, crunched him up a little, and swallowed him.
The ink demon had no organs. He was just one inky mass inside. The ink demon settled down for a nap. Henry's lungs felt crushed, and the ink was entering the gashes left by the demon's teeth, but it wasn't getting worse. After a few minutes, Henry realized that if he didn’t do something, this would be his eternal state. And so, he pushed his arms through the thick ink and situated them where the ink demon’s arms were, so that he was almost wearing the beast like a puppet. With an immense amount of effort, Henry was able to get the beast to rise and turn back around the throne room. The beast growled and Henry felt vibrations all around him. It was fighting him, trying to move its ink in the opposite direction. Henry persisted. One lumbering arm-step, then another. The beast continued to whine and yowl. With no other way of knowing how close he was, Henry took that as a good sign. In the end, that flash of light came.
Now in Joey Drew’s apartment, Henry fell to his knees. The giant, ink-filled tooth-marks all over his body throbbed. But he’d done it. Right? Sure to be absolutely silent, Henry looked in the kitchen, and then checked Joey’s drawing desk to find that Joey had fallen asleep overtop of it. He found a phone and tapped in 911.
“Hello, this is 911, what is your emergency?”
“Hello. This is hard to explain, but my name is Henry Stein, and I am being held hostage at the residence of Joey Drew. Please send help. Please investigate the ink machine- the strange machine in his garage. He’ll try and make it look like everything’s normal, but- Please. Believe me.”
“We’ll be right over.”
Henry hung up and slumped to the floor, crying. Out of physical pain, relief, or worry that his gambit wouldn’t pay off he wasn’t sure. The portal to the sketch dimension was right near him, and he knew that his injuries were repaired at the beginning of each loop. But if he went in there, the dispatchers would have a harder time finding him. Henry mulled over where he should wait.
“What have you done?!” Joey roared, snapping Henry out of his thoughts. “Henry, go visit the old studio. There’s something I need to show you.” Joey had said it a million times before, but never so harshly. Like every time before, Henry got up, quite painstakingly this time, and entered the studio. The second the door closed, his injuries were gone as though they were never there.
Should I do another loop in case no help is on the way, or should wait here by the entrance so I'll be easier to find? Either way, it was future Henry’s problem. He found a desk to collapse on and quickly fell asleep.
---
It was four in the morning on August 12th, 1967 when Sammy received the last phone call he’d ever expected to.
“Hello?”
“Hello. This is the New York City police department. Is this Sammy Lawrence?”
Sammy’s eyes shot open in surprise. “Yes.”
“You need to come to New York City as soon as possible. This is not optional- we have heard from multiple people that you have information on the ink machine and the activities of Joey Drew. You aren’t in trouble yet, but if you refuse to comply, we will be forced to get national services involved. This is a matter life or death. Understood?” The policeman’s voice was friendly enough, but Sammy wasn’t foolish enough to think that his compliance would be all it took to keep him out of trouble. But what could he do?
“I’ll book a flight immediately,” Sammy said.
When he showed up at the police department, a number of other people out of uniform were there- Susie Campbell, Allison Pendle, Jack Fain, Norman Polk, and a few he didn’t recognize. One- Bertrum Piedmont- Sammy only recognized as one of the people that he and Joey had tried to murder back in the day. They all looked as young as ever.
“So, let me get this straight,” a tall, broad policeman said in a commanding voice, facing the group, and thus away from Sammy. “You each have the same story. You were knocked out somehow by Joey Drew, some of you when a man named Sammy Lawrence was around as well, and then you woke up outside the studio with large cuts on your throats. You all gave that description over the phone, without having had any opportunity to communicate on the matter. And you, Ms. Campbell, have the same story, but with a twist: you agreed to it. Is that all correct?” There was general agreement. The policeman turned to Sammy, looking almost apologetic.
“Mr. Lawrence, you see the situation we have here. And it will have to be dealt with in time. But for right now, you and Mr. Connor have been called by the S. W. A. T. to advise them on how to extract the, uh, people from super-dimensional thing in Mr. Drew’s kitchen. Best of luck. You’ll need it.”
An hour later, Sammy and Thomas were in the studio. Sammy had proposed this. He felt that this was the only way to keep the authorities from finding out about his murders. They’d been allowed to take some of the S. W. A. T. team’s equipment in with them, at least. Sammy had been given some instruction on how to wield the handgun that now hung at his belt, though he was hoping to rely solely on his knife. Thomas, on the other hand, looked much more comfortable with the massive gun he was holding.
“That gun is accurate, right?” Sammy asked, “if I run into a combat situation with my knife, you won’t hit me accidentally?”
“Combat?” Thomas snapped, “You said that the ink creatures would never hurt their creators. I thought there wasn’t going to be any combat!”
Sammy took in a deep breath. “That was a lie.”
Thomas was utterly shocked. “Then what the hell are we doing in here when we could’ve sent armed professionals?!”
“I didn’t want them to know about what I’ve done. Two days ago, that was all in the past, Thomas. I’d almost forgotten about it. I don’t want to have to live my life thinking about how I helped cause this. I just want to fix it so it’s over.”
“You want to forget you were a part of this, huh? Well join the club. The thing is, knowing about yourself can help keep you in line. Y’know, Allison used to talk about how her parents would have never approved of us because I’m not Presbyterian. Y’know what I did the second GENT sent me to my next client? Became a Presbyterian. Rules are good, Sammy. Rules can keep you in line. And forgiveness is also good, if you deserve it. You religious?”
“A little,” Sammy answered as they finally reached the staircase down. After hack-and-slashing their way through a horde of searchers, Sammy attempted to lead the way to Wally’s sanctuary. The studio’s layout had other ideas for them- Sammy could have sworn that the place was rearranged like a jigsaw puzzle with the pieces switched around. At last, they arrived. Sammy knocked on the door, and moments later it cracked open. Sammy had time to vaguely make out a peeking green eye before Henry threw the door open.
“People!” Henry exclaimed. “Oh my God, finally. Are you here to rescue me? Wait- Sammy…?”
Sammy nodded. “That’s right. We’re here to rescue you.”
Henry tackled Sammy with a hug. “Thank you!”
“We’re here for any ink creatures it would be safe to extract as well. Do you know where any of them are?”
“Well, I definitely know where one is.” Henry turned back into the safehouse and called Boris’ name. Boris came over like a dog who'd been asked to come. Henry gave him a little pat on the head, which he leaned into, smiling. That was how Henry knew that Boris was dominant- when Buddy was dominant, he reacted more adversely to being pet like a dog. "This is Boris. Sammy, you know how these things are made, don't you?"
"We both do," Thomas answered, ashamed. "Who's his soul?"
"A boy named Daniel Lewek. He doesn't remember it very often, but he wrote out his story while he was dominant. We should bring that out, too," Henry headed back in to grab the book. Meanwhile, Boris offered his hand to Sammy and Thomas.
"You in there, Daniel?" Thomas asked. Boris looked confused. "No? That's okay. We'll find a way to get you out again. You'll see."
Once the group was back together, they headed for the exit. Henry came into the apartment through the closet door, saw it filled with military personnel, and fell down onto his hands and knees. "I'm gonna live. I'm gonna go home, and see my family again, and everything. Oh." Henry suddenly realized that he was forgetting one creature: Boris. "And Boris can come with me. Henry pet Boris again, and he liked it. "You're gonna love the real world."
"Henry," Thomas interjected, "I'm not sure that's a good idea. You said you have a family, didn't you? Well, you already disappeared for almost four years, so I really don't think you should shock them more by bringing home something that doesn't even belong in this world. I have no family and even knew Buddy a little. I'll take him."
"After we get the other ink creatures, right?" Sammy said.
"Of course," Thomas replied, and they set to talking.
Henry was silent for a moment, reflective. “I can take Boris after Linda dies. I'm not going to die. Neither are you, Sammy. Or Joey. We're immortal. How do we figure out who else there is? Who are immortal, I mean."
Sammy and Thomas stared at him. "Well, the others at the police station are a good start at least," Sammy said. "That must have been why they didn't die when Joey and I were trying to sacrifice them." Sammy turned back to Thomas. "Anyhow. You can definitely have Boris, but I want to adopt one of these ink creatures, too. I feel responsible."
"Oh, no you aren't," one of the police in the room interjected, "You just upgraded your seven felony assault charges to seven attempted murders. The second you've rescued all the sentient beings from that hell dimension, you're going into a holding cell. I can hope you can assuage your guilt from in there."
Henry gave his old friend a pained look. "Sorry about this, Sammy."
Sammy sighed. "Well, all will pass, right? Since we're eternal. At least, let me answer questions on how the machine works. Maybe we can make separate bodies for the human halves and the cartoon halves."
“I’m out of the loop and don’t know what you’re talking about,” the policeman said, “and anyhow, it’s not for me to decide. But that might be doable. We’ll have to see.”
