Afterwards || MGK scenario
¬Colson meets a fan backstage. Pairing->f!reader x colson baker Word count-> 2.0k cw. fluff, some deep convo, fan service, mentions of suicide, swearing.
Tumblr media
The noise was unreal. You still couldn't belive you finally made it to kells' concert. It had been an odissey to get enough money to afford the plane and concert tickets, at some points you even wondered if it was worth it. However being here made you have no doubt--It was absolutely worth it.
"Thank you beautiful people for coming today," he practically yelled into the mic, his bright pink hair dripping drops of sweat."I'm afraid this will be the last song of the night."
The crowd sobbed loudly, but the sad atmosphere was quickly replaced with the festival of cords that was the beginning of WWIII. To you it felt like Colson was flying around, his instense energy being contagious to every single fan that was singing along the extravagant lyrics. Everyone was jumping and laughing like one big, jolly being.
Eventually the song was over, and everyone was ready to go back home, but Kells was thinking otherwise.
"Before y'all go back home, the crew and I have one more thing." you looked around just to see excited faces."We've decided to gift a V.I.P meet n' greet behind the scenes to three random people;"
He stepped aside and signaled to the big screens around him, which started showing pink explosions and sparkling silver and black dashes. Then, a series of numbers started to appear—it was ticket numbers.
Your heart was pounding fast, and you could feel the adrenaline pouring through your entire self. You knew it was beyond highly unlikely your number would appear on that screen, yet you couldn’t help but hope…
The first couple of numbers had already been announced, meaning there was only one left. One opportunity to meet Colson left. You knew it wasn’t gonna be you, but even being aware of it didn’t prepare you for the disappointment of realizing the third and final ticket number belonged to the person right next to you. The screen showed the number 118, while your number was 117.
You scowled silently. What a drag. At least i got to enjoy myself for a few hours was all you could say to yourself to make you feel better. You looked to your right, expecting to see the lady excited out of her mind, but she looked quite neutral. Thinking it was odd, you continued gathering your stuff to go back home.
“Excuse me.” You felt a slight pat on your shoulder along with the sound of a voice getting lost in the background noise. You turned around. “I can’t really attend the backstage thingie, I promised the sitter I’d be back home early. Would you like to go instead?”
To say you couldn’t believe your ears would be an understatement. “Sorry?” You said in shock. The lady looking back at you seemed to be in her late 30s, short brown hair and kind eyes. She giggled.
“I realize it’s weird, but I really can’t stay any longer. If you can’t accept it there’s no problem, I’ll just ask someone else.”
But before she finished the sentence you interrupted with frantic nodding. “I’ll take it! It was just so unexpected! Are you really sure?”
“I’m really sure I can’t afford a different sitter right now,” she smiled honestly. “So yea.”
She offered you her ticket and you took it, hesitant. And there it was, the winning ticket—or one of them anyway—in your hands. You felt on top of the world.
“You have no idea how much this means to me, thank you so much.” You said while smiling as well, and she just brushed it off.
“Never meet your idols is something I’ve always firmly believed anyways. Have a good time!” After saying that she quickly left.
It took you a while to get it together. The whole situation felt crazy to say the least. You just knew your friends were gonna be so jealous (in a nice way) and eager to hear the whole thing. They simply were not gonna believe this!
You made your way to the backstage entrance, where a bodyguard and some other staff members were to make sure everything went smoothly. The other two people in front of you, who you assumed were the other winners, seemed to be really excited as well.
One of the staff members explained that each of us would have approximately ten minutes with Colson, in the order the winners were announced. They also gave you some merch, which you naturally loved. You immediately put on a little rubber band around your wrist that came in the carefully organized package.
After some time, it was finally your turn. You were so excited the waiting felt like a blink. The bodyguard walked you through a hallway with a bunch of doors on either side, until finally you reached one that had a piece of paper sticked to it. “MACHINE GUN KELLY”
Your heart immediately skipped a bit, you couldn’t believe you were actually going to meet MGK. Machine Gun Kelly. Colson Freaking Baker. You inhaled some air hoping it would calm you down—of course it didn’t—and the bodyguard opened the door.
There he was. A smoky blunt on one hand and his phone on the other. He wasn’t really sweaty anymore, and his hair was a mess yet his face looked so calm. His see-through shirt revealed his contoured torso full of tattoos. You knew he was tall but seeing him in person for the very first time... he seemed taller than anyone could ever be. Just the arch of his nose and piercing eyes made you feel like oxygen wasn’t so necessary anymore-
“You don’t have to stand all the way there,” his raspy voice took you out of the trance in a heartbeat, which made you a little shy due to your awkward demeanor. “C’mere”
Once again hesitantly you walked a little closer to him, who was no longer leaning against the wall nor unaware of your presence. Colson was standing up—god he got even taller-- and looking at you in a curious manner. “What’s your name?”
You whispered the answer, unable to look into his eyes for longer periods of time than twenty seconds each. He giggled, amused.
“You’re not very talkative, are you?” Now it was your turn to giggle. For some reason his unpreoccupied remark eased you into the moment. “Sorry,” you sighed “college didn’t teach me anything on how to talk to someone like you.”
He walked closer to you and sat in a nearby chair. “Woah, someone like me? And here I thought we're getting along.”
You laughed out loud again and he smiled in return and inhaled the blunt resting between his fingers. Now you were starting to feel actually comfortable.
“I didn’t mean it like that!” You hugged yourself while walking a little closer as well. “I meant someone so famous and admirable. We’re just very different.”
He appeared to think about it for a second and then signaled to a chair close to his with his almost fully smoked blunt, indicating you should sit down.
“I don’t think we’re that different, you and I.” He stated firmly, looking right into your eyes. You could feel your ears burning a bit, but naturally decided to just ignore it.
“We are very, very different…” you began right after you sat on the chair but stopped mid-sentence because you weren’t sure about how to adress him, which he somehow seemed to notice.
“Call me whatever, I literally don’t care.” Usually that sentence would’ve sounded harsh due to its very nature, but coming out of his mouth it didn’t make you feel any of those things. He meant it, he didn’t seem to mind at all.
“Is Colson alright?” He nodded while inhaling the last puff out of his blunt. "ye's fine."
You could feel once again the air filling up with awkwardness, but you weren't gonna let it. It's not every day you get to have a one-on-one conversation with THE Machine Gun Kelly.
"Tell me something about you."You spat before you could think twice about it. He frowned, unsure of what you meant."Tell me something you'd like me to know about you. Something I shouldn't know, or something you've never said to anyone. Tell me something about you." You stared right into his cerulean gaze."Anything."
He laughed outloud, strong peals of laughter filling the room. You wondered how come this was better than all the songs he performed at the concert--the sound of his laugh."What's so funny?"
"You were so shy like a second ago and now you're asking shit like that." He pointed, still slightly smiling. "Why do you want to know?"
"Because I do." You quickly replied, simply. "It's not every day a girl gets to be face to face with the one and only MGK."
Colson's smile became a mere smirk. You could tell he was thinking what could he possibly tell you.
"I make music for myself" he spat suddenly ", not for the fans. For me. The fact that they---you like it is just a plus. It's what helps me sleep at nights."
When you asked him to give you something you certainly weren’t expecting something half as deep as that.
"I guess we never really think you celebrities have demons as bad as that... not for real, anyway. Thanks for sharing that with me, you obviously didn't have to."
"Well, there's not much of a point. Not like we'll be meeting again." As he said this, the realization came down to you. You were not meeting again. You felt your heart irrationally sink.
"Still I appreciate i-" his raspy voice interrupted you before she could finish the sentence.
"Your turn."
"Sorry?"
"Your turn. Tell me some spicy shit about you, something not many people know."
Your mind went blank. Something about you no one knows? You were a rather private person so there were a bunch of things people didn't know, but which to pick? He shared a deep one so it was only fair and right for you to do the same.
"I love when it rains at night." His square-ish smile welcomed the statement.
"Dude, how is that deep?" You breathed in as you took long blinking.
"I was going to kill myself. It was like midnight or something, I had the pills ready and I was lying on my bedroom floor. There's a big skylight on the ceiling, you know? I was about to take them when suddenly it started raining." He wasn't really smiling anymore."And that made me smile. I like night time, and I like it when it rains, so together it's like... I don't know. I love it. And I realized if i did it, i was not going to be able to see the nightsky while it's raining, hear the drops of rain against the buildings and the ground. Nor would I smile again.”
"Now that is deep." He walked towards a metalic table and poured two glasses of what seemed to be gin. He then walked toward you and offered you one."I guess we’re not so different after all… Cheers to that."
You took it while smiling, mumbling "cheers to that, indeed" as your glasses clinked.
"Why did you tell me that?" He asked after taking a few sips. You shrugged and took another sip, looking up into his blue irises and feeling yourself getting lost in them.
"You said so yourself, it's not like we'll ever meet again. Might as well do some trauma dumping." You both laughed at the joke---self-deprecating humor is something you could instantly say you had in common.
"I like you, y/n. We might actually have to meet again." Your heart skipped a bit as he said that. Had you heard right? You somehow managed to keep your cool.
"Why? You just said we were never meeting again." You sighed. "I hope it's not pitty because of what I just told you."
"It ain't. You just peaked my interest. No one'd managed to do that for a while." He stared right into your eyes as he said that. Made you shiver.
"So we meet and what?" You asked, your heart running inside your chest.
"And we have a drink, what the fuck else?"
"Isn't there some rule that forbids you from doing shit like that, anyway?"You asked, genuinely curious.
"Ain't rules meant to be broken?" He answered and smirked before walking to the table once again and refilling his glass. He looked at you and softly swung the bottle in your direction, silently offering, but you shook your nead no since you hadn't finished the previous serving. "So what do you say? Tomorrow midnight at your favorite club?"

y'all know how the media is spouting all kinds of garbage about palestine?
jsyk they have done the same damn thing with covid. covid is not like a casual cold or the flu. covid destroys your vascular system. covid fucks up your body's immune system. if you are wondering why you get sick so easily now, that is very likely why. your chance of becoming chronically ill increases with each infection you have, and up to 60% of cases are asymptomatic. they are lying about shit because the only thing that matters in the US is keeping the wheels of capitalism going and making the rich richer. remember at the beginning when Dan Patrick said we should sacrifice grandma for the economy?
he said the quiet bit out loud. vulnerable people have to rely on others to keep us safe, because the government does not give a single fuck. thousands of people are still dying of covid and many more are becoming disabled.
I haven't gone anywhere other than doctor's appointments and the grocery store for years now, as I am too sick to work and it is too risky. high risk people now cannot see their medical providers or even go to the hospital without putting ourselves at risk because no one masks even though covid is a highly contagious airborne virus.
I'm begging y'all to wear N95 masks or better (r/masks4all and r/zerocovidcommunity are helpful resources) and protect yourselves and the people around you- especially if you are showing up to a protest, crowds are extremely risky for covid transmission.
Please show solidarity by masking. Please give a fuck about your fellow humans. The difference between masking and not can mean saving a life or preventing permanent disability.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Love Day came upon us again, and it was so nice to have someone to celebrate with. Someone to celebrate, period. Sophia and I rarely did things traditionally, and I continued that trend by asking her out on a breakfast date. I suggested Vivianna's because it was the first place that came to mind, and I really liked their food. But Sophia was in goofball mode and said I wanted to see my girlfriend. I didn't like her saying that, but I loved seeing her in high spirits in those days, so I let it ride. When we got there, the host seated us at the same table from last time, and that sent her even more.
"It's a sign, Luca! If she's our server again, it's means you were meant to be."
I shook my head at her.
"You are way too high on life right now."
Tumblr media
She gasped, still giggling at her silly joke.
"Luca! She's here! I think she's coming this way!"
I was still shaking my head when Yasmine walked up.
"Happy Love Day," she said drily. "Y'all don't have restaurants in Oasis Springs?"
"Of course we do," Sophia said before I had a chance to even think of a response. "But we love this one."
"Hmph. You must really love this food. I wouldn't unfriend someone and still show up at their job. Are you ready to order?"
Tumblr media
Sophia looked at me in surprise but also trying to hide more giggles.
"Uhh...yeah, we're ready," I said, unsure if I should even respond to the first part.
When I finally looked at her, I saw her face matched her dry tone. Generally, she wasn't the cheeriest sim, but something was off. Granted, I was probably the last sim she wanted to see, but she should have been over that. Something else had to be going on, and I asked if she was okay.
"What do you care? I can't do this right now. I'll send someone else."
Tumblr media
She hurried away into the kitchen, leaving us utterly confused.
"What in the world was that?" Sophia asked. "And you unfriended her?"
"Yeah! She's been sending me mean messages ever since-"
"You broke up?"
"Would you stop with that?? She wasn't my girlfriend!"
I couldn't understand why she found this situation so amusing. It annoyed me, but her laughter was so contagious. I couldn't help but laugh, too.
Tumblr media
"Did she look different to you?" I asked.
"Sure did. I think she's pregnant."
"Pregnant? Yasmine? No way."
"She's definitely pregnant, babe."
"How do you know? She's not showing."
"Women know these things!"
"Hmph. Some sims don't need to be parents," I said under my breath. At least I thought I did.
"Luca!"
"What? It's true. She doesn't want kids right now. And she's mean...self-absorbed... Can you imagine her raising children?"
"I mean...I don't disagree, but... It's still not a nice thing to say. Maybe taking care of someone else will be good for her."
Nice or not, I meant every word. It was hard not to get upset about it. Sims all around us kept popping up pregnant unexpectedly while Sophia and I woohoo'd each other's brains out to no avail. WE want a baby! Why won't it happen for us? It wasn't fair. But I didn't want to ruin our date with my petty, jealous thoughts. That rant would have to remain in my head.
"Anyway... You excited about moving tomorrow?"
"You know it! I can hardly believe it."
"Yeah, seriously. I've been thinking about that house for so long... I have to keep reminding myself this is real life."
Tumblr media
My Social Bunny chime went off, so I checked to see who sent me a message.
"Oh...it's Maira."
"Why do you say it like that?"
"Like what?"
"Like you're surprised your friend is messaging you."
"I'm not surprised. It's just...I don't know. Every time I hear from her, I feel bad."
"How come?"
"Because I'm such a bad friend to her."
Sophia's lip quivered.
"I highly doubt that."
"It's true though! I never call her. She's always the one reaching out. Even back in the day it was like that. When I was open to dating her-well, she says we did date, but whatever. I got mixed signals, so I kinda stopped putting energy into our friendship. Then I met Yasmine-"
"While you were talking to me," she said sarcastically.
Tumblr media
Like a light switch flicking on, I understood why she continued to joke about me and Yasmine. She still felt some kind of way about realizing she wasn't the only one I was talking to, and this was her brand of petty behavior. I shook my head because I knew she would never let that go, and the jokes were a permanent part of our marriage.
"Yes, I was talking to you. I met Yasmine and Chi Chi-"
"I thought you didn't date her."
"I didn't. She came to my classes a lot and invited me to her house a few times."
She eyed me suspiciously, but I continued my story.
"Dating, having female friends, and all of that was new to me. I didn't know how to say no to her. I couldn't say no to her; you know how she is. And I was talking to you on top of dealing with my own issues... It was a crazy time, and I didn't know how to handle it all, so I ended up neglecting Maira. I feel bad because it wasn't like that in the beginning."
Tumblr media
"You didn't have any distractions then."
"Yeah...that's true."
"Do you think it's time to let her go? Everyone's not meant to be in your life forever."
"I know. That might be part of the issue. I want to be a good friend while being respectful to you, but I honestly don't know how she fits into my life anymore. But severing the relationship? I don't think I want to do that. At least not yet."
"Okay." She turned back to her food and took a few bites before a very obvious idea let up her face. "Since we're moving now, we should do a combo celebration! We can turn my birthday party into a housewarming party! Invite her to that."
"Oooh good thinking! You know I married you for your brains."
"Ah ha! The truth comes out."

I have drawn this Cajun cretin four times now since I first saw the Lackadaisy Pilot back in like, late March/early April. Out of all the characters that could have been my favorite, it's the Crazy Creole Cat Lady who looks like a mix of 1930s Dracula, and 1980s Michael Jackson! Sporting a BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) and a laugh like a bad cold: gets me weak in the knees, and is HIGHLY contagious!
You know what, though? I'm at least enjoying it. The Lackadaisy fandom is filled with very talented, and very charismatic people. So there's not much to complain about. I just hope y'all enjoy the art that I make, and y'all can put up with my hyperfixations.

Warning: This fic contains language, blood, gore, violence, fighting, fatal injuries and major spoilers for the 2012 series. If any of this makes you uncomfortable I highly encourage y'all to check out my other works.
Spring. It was the sign of new beginnings, a sign of rebirth and growth with its blooming flowers and trees and warm gentle breezes. Spring was the type of season that Karai adored especially since this current spring marked the first anniversary of her little brother's arrival into her and her father's lives. The six year old girl rushed out of her bed, buzzing with excitement as she rushed around to get herself ready and dressed. Running her brush through her straight black locks, Karai took a look at herself in the mirror taking in her outfit. The plain maroon red shirt and plain black pants and old shoes worked well with what her plans entailed for her and her brother. Giving a little smile towards the mirror her light amber eyes sparkled back at her in excitement before she finally rushed out of her bedroom to go to the one next door.
Not hesitating to let herself into the room Karai rushed towards the bed that sat near the wall practically jumping onto it waking the sleeping five year old boy within it. Big dark blue eyes blinked awake startled as he pushed himself up in his bed meeting the excited, mischievous smile of his older sister. The boy gave her a confused look, his three fingered hands forming sleepy words.
'What's wrong? Is everything okay?'
He signed, the child or rather turtle toddler asked. Karai just gave him a bigger smile in response.
"Everything's fine Leo! But you have to get up there's something important I have to show you!"
She said shaking her little brother some more. Leo gave her another look before finally getting out of bed, more awake now due to Karai's contagious energy. Once her little brother was ready and awake and dressed, Karai grabbed Leo's hand and dragged him out of his room, running down the corridors of the large Japanese home, passing a few workers along the way. Leo squeezed her hand in a nervous way, uneasy with all the people they passed. Karai squeezed his hand back as she continued on towards her destination. The kitchen was soon within sight and the Japanese girl pulled her little brother through it, the two of them being greeted by the scent of breakfast. An older woman had just finished setting the second plate down when Karai called out to her.
"Miss. Lotus! Is breakfast ready?? Me and Leo are starving!!!"
Karai chirped making the older woman look up at the duo and smile a soft smile.
"You two are just in time, it was just finished Mistress Karai. I figured that you and Master Leonardo would be hungry, also I've prepared that special request you'd asked for the other day. It's ready to go when you're both finished."
Lotus replied with a small chuckle, earning a sparkling smile from Karai and a confused look from Leo. Saying a small thank you to the older Japanese woman, the young six and five year olds sat down at the table and began to eat. The whole time they ate Leo would sign questions at his older sister, wondering what this special request was and what Karai had planned. All that he'd receive from her was a mischievous smile and a be patient you'll see. Once they were done with breakfast, Leo was once again being dragged along by his older sister. Karai grabbed a small basket from Lotus before the duo left the kitchen with Karai calling out a goodbye and before Leo knew it they were bursting out of the side door of the house and rushing down the countryside hills away from home.
It was about an hour of running into the Japanese countryside, passing by trees, bugs and wildlife when Karai had suddenly stopped making Leo nearly run into her back. Bright amber hues met dark blue ones as Karai spoke.
"Cover your eyes! You can't see it till I say you can!"
Karai said somewhat demanding the turtle. Leo gave her an unsure look his hands signing in response.
'But what if I trip and fall? Onee-chan I don't want to-'
He'd tried to protest only to be stopped by his sister who grabbed his hands and gave him a serious look.
"Leo do you trust me?"
Karai asked startling the younger. Leo didn't even hesitate to nod at her letting her know that he did.
"Then please......close your eyes. I won't let anything happen to you. I promise."
She pleaded. Leo stared at her for a moment before finally slipping his eyes shut, giving Karai complete control over his movements. His older sister was gentle as she guided him forward, letting him know when something was in his way and helping him around it. After a few minutes of doing this small dance Karai finally stopped them, giving his hands another reassuring squeeze.
"Okay Leo.......open them."
The six year olds voice softly gave him the okay. The five year old slowly opened his eyes blinking them against the sunshine before focusing on what was before him. Dark blue eyes widened in childish wonder and awe as they made contact with a large sakura tree. The tree branches were filled with beautiful pink and red cherry blossoms, their sweet scent filling his nose and filling him with a sense of calm. Leo turned to look over at his sister, noticing her slightly awkward and almost shy shimmying.
"I've been wanting to show this for a year now, since you couldn't see them last year. It's a tradition that I do every spring, and I wanted you to be apart of it too. So.......happy one year siblingversary."
The older child finished off her face turning pink in how sentimental she'd sounded. But she'd wanted to make their first anniversary as brother and sister memorable. She wanted to make him see something beautiful and hopeful so he could truly start to let go of his past from a year ago. For a year since last spring when Karai had found him unconscious in the riverbank by her village, Leo had always looked spooked and uneasy never saying a word to anyone and silently following her wherever she went. Karai may not completely understand why Leo was so scared but she knew enough to know that he needed comfort and reassurance in his new life with the Oroku family. Karai refused to look at him too embarrassed to, getting a bit uneasy with his silence. After fighting with herself the girl finally turned her attention towards her brother again and nearly recoiled in shock.
Leo was crying.
Tears, silent and fat rolled out of his watery blue hues and down his chubby green cheeks, his gaze boring straight into her. Karai felt her heart sink and she began to panic. This wasn't what she wanted, she didn't want to make Leo cry, she wanted to make him smile, not breakdown.
"Oh-! Leo are you okay-!?! I'm so sorry I didn't mean to make you cry-"
The six year old began to say desperately trying to fix it when the five year old lunged at her, wrapping his arms tightly around her as he cried quietly. Karai froze before wrapping her arms around him as well, rubbing his shell in soothing circles to try and calm him down. The eldest child was so scrambled by all of this that she nearly missed something very important. However her training that she'd started a year ago had made her ears sharper and what she heard made her heart jump.
It was a voice.
A voice soft and full of tears whispering quietly into her neck, smooth and childish and small and filled with a touched gratitude.
"Thank you.....thank you Onee-chan I love it thank you so much...."
Leo repeated softly over and over again as he hugged her tightly. Karai meanwhile was on cloud nine, giddy happiness filling her very being because her little brother after a year of silence had finally spoken to her and that was more than she could have ever asked for in a million years. She squeezed him back tightly, pressing a small kiss to the top of his head.
"You're welcome little brother. I'm happy that you like my surprise.....now! Let's get set up and get lunch together! We've got a long day of playing ahead of us!"
Karai said her panic all but gone as she pulled away from Leo and with his hand in hers pulled him towards the sakura tree. The two spent the rest of the day playing beneath its branches, the sounds of their laughter filling the gentle spring breeze along with the delicate pink petals. Soon the day came to its end and Leo began to grow tired. Karai picked him up onto her back and began to make their long trip home, knowing that their father would be home when they got there. Leo slept against Karai's back, his body light and warm as she carried him. Turning her light amber hues onto the sleeping turtle Karai felt a feeling of protectiveness fill her being.
'Don't you worry Leo, you won't ever have to be alone again. Onee-chan will stay with you and keep you safe. I promise.'
The Japanese girl swore as they drew further away from the sakura tree and made their way home.
~~~~~
'Please, please don't do this to me God damnit Leo-!'
A sixteen year old Karai pleaded mentally as she dragged her brother's broken and unconscious body from the New York rivers. The harsh winter chill dug into her bones, making her feel as if she'd been stabbed several times as she and Leo finally got out of the freezing and merciless waters. The teenager's lungs were on fire and everything hurt yet Karai forced herself to keep going. Wrapping an arm around Leo's waist, with a bit of difficulty she managed to get him onto her back, being careful of the busted knee and broken shell. With raspy breathes and gritted teeth Karai began to carry her little brother away from the water, fighting against the harsh winter weather as she disappeared into the snow and winds, her only mission to get away from their father as fast as possible.
'No not our father, he was never our father. He's a murderer, a lunatic who's lied to himself and to us! To think that I ever loved him-!'
The thought vicious and betrayed hissed in her head as she continued to carry on, noting how cold Leo was getting. Karai cursed, a sense of dread filling her. She needed to get them out of the cold, if she didn't get them, him out of the freezing temperatures he'd......Leo would......
'No, don't think about it. Focus Oroku Karai. You can't lose your head yet. Not now.'
She told herself forcing herself to focus on her current task. She had a mission to complete and she was going to see it through even if it killed her. Karai had no idea how long she walked through the snow and harsh winds, her body soaked and freezing slowly as the snow and ice stuck onto her and Leo. The sixteen year old girl just continued onwards, blinded by her need to save Leo's life. An eternity seemed to pass when finally she'd found sanctuary in an alleyway. It was dark and damp and filled with trash, ice and snow but it blocked the winds that tore at the two siblings and that was enough for Karai. With trembling steps the ninja dragged them into the alley before she finally collapsed onto her knees, fatigue and cold finally getting to her. With a trembling, ice cold touch, Karai gently removed Leo from her back and placed him onto his uninjured side to take a look at the damage. What she saw made bile rise in her throat. Leo's throat was filled with slice marks and nicks that bleed sluggishly, his knee was twisted in an unnatural way, swollen around its kneecap and his shell.......
A crack, long and jagged went straight down his shell, the wound bleeding heavily onto it. Karai forced herself to keep her calm and she removed her sash that hung around her waist, covering the bleeding crack with the frozen and soaked maroon red fabric. Leo didn't even so much as make a sound when she'd done it, making her be filled with even more dread than before. Karai knew that despite Leo's human DNA, he was still a somewhat cold blooded reptile and to go through such a traumatic experience and then thrown into icy cold water and freezing winds was the worst thing that could ever be done. The female ninja continued her attempts on covering his wounds, her hands shaking, frozen and covered in warm blood. Due to how cold her fingers were the blood felt as if it was burning her, causing her to feel a stinging pain that she ignored. Finally wrapping Leo's cracked shell, Karai gently moved them into a trash bag pile, laying them down onto it before wrapping her arms and legs around her baby brother in a vain attempt to get him warm again when she herself was just as frozen.
Karai didn't move from her spot next to her little brother, instead keeping a close eye on him and their surroundings to the best of her ability. The oldest Oroku sibling gently ran her fingers over the youngest Oroku's frozen pale cheek. Leo remained still, his eyes closed and his breathing light, raspy and slow. His usual bright green scaly skin was a dull frozen green color, cold to the touch and covered in dry blood and snow. Karai felt her throat tighten as she really took in the condition her little brother was in, realizing that Leo's injuries were fatal.
"I should have realized.....should have known that something was up when the Shredder sent me out alone for that mission. I shouldn't have left you alone, should've insisted that you come along with me. I should've been there for you, I'm sorry.....I'm so sorry......Leo....."
Karai muttered, her voice soft and rasping from her lack of use of it. She swallowed hard as she cursed herself for not realizing sooner, for not being able to protect Leo from harm. The sixteen year old should have known that the Shredder would be furious, would be murderous for Leo's act of treason when he'd went to protect that purple turtle Donnie. The turtle who was the son of their sworn enemy, the Hamato clan. She should have been suspicious when the Shredder had sent her on a solo mission, he never did things like that. It was always her and Leo who went together, it was always the two of them and rarely were they ever separated for things like this. Yet she hadn't questioned it and had went alone, unknowingly leaving Leo to be gone at by their master like a pig to the slaughter.
'If I hadn't come back at the time I did.....if I'd come back any later.....'
The thought whispered haunting her to her very core as she recalled searching for the Shredder only to see him holding Leo's broken and bleeding body over the New York bridge before tossing him over the side of it. The sounds of her little brother's body, limp and unconscious hitting the waters with an echoing splash. She hadn't hesitated when she'd screamed Leo's name, jumping over the side herself to get to him, effectively committing her own act of treason against the Shredder by doing so. But at the time as well as now Karai knew that she would do it again and again, because no matter how much she loved their father, Leo her baby brother, her best friend would always come first. Karai gripped Leo's body tighter, her frame shaking from cold and barely held back tears as she felt the frozen body in her arms. The body of her little brother that only grew colder and stiffer with each passing minute.
'I'm gonna lose him. I'm gonna lose my little brother and it's all my fault.'
Karai thought as she clung to him, her own body now slowly down in its trembling tremors. The female ninja was beginning to realize that she couldn't feel her fingers and toes and her body had started to feel numb. It didn't take a rocket scientist to put together that she was starting to follow Leo in this cold, deathly slumbering world of numbness and stillness. Leo's body was now deathly still, his bleeding wounds having nearly stopped and covered in a thin layer of frost and snow. He was dying, her little brother was dying and there was nothing Karai could do about it and that broke her in a way she'd never been broken before.
"Don't go Leo......don't go where I can't follow. Please don't leave me alone, Leo you can't die please.....!"
Karai began to speak up again, her voice thick as she desperately pleaded with the frozen and broken frame in her arms.
"You can't die yet......! What about Shini?? She's gonna be devastated if you leave!! And what about your dreams??!! The dreams of becoming a teacher and teaching others the ways of ninjutsu?!?!"
The older teen rambled her body becoming more aware despite the cold as she grew more and more upset.
"You promised me that you'd stay by my side-!! We made a pact to always stick together!! Leo don't die on me please God fucking damnit please I'm begging you, little brother please just......just stay here with me.....please I still need you here......."
Karai begged her battle with her tears lost as they flew down her pale frozen cheeks. She knew that what she was asking was hopeless and pointless, knew that asking him not to die was something he could just make happen. Not when his wounds and the harsh unforgiving elements were against him. Yet she couldn't stop herself, couldn't stop the devastation and heartbreaking grief that was consuming her. Burying her face into his chest she listened to the slow, sluggishly heartbeat behind the chest plate, dreading the moment when it finally stopped beating for good. Silent sobs shook her and she cursed herself for crying. Karai wasn't a crier, having been told her whole life that crying was a sign of weakness. But she couldn't stop the tears that flowed from her amber eyes and onto her pale cheeks. Not when she was going to be alone. As Karai broke down the sudden sounds of boots crunching on the snow made her freeze.
They'd been found.
The eldest Oroku child didn't know how she managed to move her frozen body, didn't know how she managed to grip her sword with her blueish, frozen fingers, didn't know how she managed to get her limbs covered in damp water and frost to move as quickly as she did but she did it. The sounds of her sword unsheathing sounded in the fringed air the person who had stepped into the alleyway letting out a startled shout at barely missing being cut.
"Stay the hell away from us! Don't you dare come anywhere near-!"
The Japanese teen snarled ready to fight to the death, her own condition be damned when a familiar voice called out her name.
"Karai?!? What are you doing here?!?! Just what are you planning-oh.....oh my God...Leo?!?! What the hell happened to him-oh shit Karai-!!!"
The voice, feminine and familiar had shot out questions, once suspicious and heated now full of horror and concern and panic. Karai's body had begun to collapse again, the world spinning around her as she was grabbed by the familiar stranger to keep her from hitting her head off the concrete. Karai fought to remain focused but her body was officially quitting on her. Her vision blurred, full of snowflakes and freezing tears. The feminine voice was talking sounding rushed and panicked.
"I need you here immediately-! Karai and Leo they're-! I know that they're of the Foot clan but I can't just leave them out here to freeze too death-!! Please Dee you gotta-!!! Oh shit Karai stay awake, Karai?!? KARAI?!?!! DEE WE NEED HELP NOW-"
The voice called out sounding muffled and unclear, like it was talking underwater. But Karai paid no mind to it instead instinctively reaching out back towards Leo's unconscious frame, her fingers brushing against his own weakly as she gripped them, struggling against the person holding her. Once his hand was in hers Karai went limp, relief and acceptance filling her.
'If we don't make it Leo.......perhaps the gods will be merciful and let us be reborn again as siblings. Just wait for me okay? You won't be alone......Onee-chan won't let you be alone......never again......'
The thought breathed in her mind as she finally drifted off into unconscious, content to be near her brother until the very end.
*Oroku 12 Leo and Oroku 12 Karai my beloveds. This AU has been living rent free in my head and I just had to write something for it. Karai is probably super ooc since I've never really written for her but I got the feeling that if she and Leo grew up alongside each other then she'd be fiercely protective over him. Anyways I love this AU a lot and I'm just gonna do little pieces here and there for it. Maybe one day it'll be an actual story who knows? Anyways if any y'all read this I hope you enjoyed it!!*
kinda random but. the cultural shift around wearing face masks in public (in western countries) has been so fascinating. I remember how strange I felt when I first started wearing them at the start of the pandemic and now I don’t leave the house without them.
iZombie ran from 2015 to 2019 and had a storyline in season 3 about a highly contagious respiratory virus that was spreading rapidly throughout the city (in the show, a secretive organization of zombie fascists had introduced the virus on purpose and contaminated the vaccines to create more zombies, so uh…. that aged poorly….)
and the main characters had to interview a person who they thought was infected, and it was making me crazy to watch them nervously stand back while he coughed. But it would have *NEVER* have occurred to me to wear a mask in 2017/8 either.
I think I saw something in the Leverage transcripts too that they got the whole idea for the order 23 job because the mark was carrying *hand sanitizer* with him, and that was seen as extremely strange? It’s so weird how things change.
oh, not random, i'm sure this is in relation to the masks in glass onion i was posting about last night :D
i totally get what you mean. i've not watched izombie, but there have definitely been other things that i've watched that are pre-2020 that have to do with contagious illnesses or maybe just even someone being mildly ill. and sometimes i get a very weird "oh this is too relatable because i have lived/am living through that" kinda feeling and its like "y'all need a mask on" lol but that's obviously not something i would have thought before 2020. and its not a feeling i get every time, but there are definitely times that it happens, i guess it depends on how it's depicted in what im watching.
it's pretty crazy how your habits and the way you react to things can change. i'm by no means a germaphobe, but i dont go places without my mask and i just feel normal about that at this point, you know? apparently to the point that sometimes i want characters in a show to be wearing masks even when they aren't living in a post-2020 world lol
(1/10/2022)
hi there internet. i know y'all are probably sick of me asking for help, but i have no one else
my name is aster. i am an afro-indigenous and trans multiply disabled person. at the beginning of december, i had to leave my highly active career as a gymnastics coach because i could no longer both do the job and take care of myself (i only worked part time and still was almost completely bedbound after work and on my days off). the only money i had were some funds saved towards getting a wheelchair, and i unfortunately had to use that to stay housed this month.
i have still been applying to jobs that i could reasonably do sitting down since, but now i am three days into having covid and i can not even get an inaccessible job that will make me flare until i am no longer contagious
i unfortunately have an extremely abusive family and can not safely move back in with them without constantly experiencing emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. i can not survive being retraumatized in this way yet again, so moving back in with them is not an option. and because i am very isolated i do not have any in person friends whatsoever to fall back on.
i currently have $94 to my name, with no hope of getting any other funds to live on unless i get help from yall. rent and utilities ($700 altogether) arent due until the end of january so i luckily do have a few weeks to come up with it. but i am so exhausted. im tired of living in fear. i just want to feel safe for a little bit. please help, even just by rbing. i have no one to fall back on but yall, and i am so scared. thank you
Peonies Chapter 8
It has been a while since I've posted about Grigor or The Great. Y'all I have been busy with finals and another fic on archive that has been my favorite thing to write. If you've ever watched The Terror from AMC then you'll enjoy this.
But I haven't forgot about one of my favorite fics. Never.
Other than that! Here we go after weeks of not writing.
Previous Chapter
Masterlist
Tumblr media
The idea of falling asleep after today just sounds nauseating. Seeing the horrors in front of me then coming back to my apartment for Peter wanting to kill me. Then for Grigor to storm off due to the fact that he thought I would lay with my own cousin by marriage. Yes I’m well aware that’s still a common practice amongst the Monarchs of the world but not in my book!
Turning my head to watch the flames slowly begin to die down before my eyes. The room was beginning to spiral into that infamous Russian cold. I didn’t feel like throwing another log on since part of me thinks I deserve to be in the wintry world that I have chosen to live in.
This plan for making Catherine the ruler of all Russia is becoming stale. What have we done that’s been achievable anyhow! Go to the front to feed a bunch of soldiers! You saw what happened when I alone tried to help Peter! Catherine influenced a new Patriarch yet the women of the court still find Catherine to be an annoyance. There has been absolutely no effort or somewhat change Catherine has done to make things more in her favor. God she is a child thrown into a world that she has no idea what she's doing. Although I should be guiding...but...
What good am I doing here! I feel as if I’m just now a fuck toy for Grigor to feel a womens touch since his wife is with the Emporer on a daily basis! Throwing the blanket off me to march over to the nearest vase and chuck it across the room!
A screech left my body as I cleared everything off the vanity onto the floor. I could feel the blood rushing through me for this anger to spiral out of control! This stupid country! Grabbing a book to throw it against the wall!
THIS STUPID COUNTRY!
HOW CAN ONE FUCKING BELONG TO THIS COURT!
HOW CAN ONE SINGLE HUMAN BE SUCH AN ABSOLUTE MORON! AND YES THAT HUMAN IS ME!
WHY DOESN’T HE TRUST ME!
I’M NOT HIS WIFE!
THIS STUPID GOD DAMN COUNTRY!
IT’S MAKING ME QUESTION EVERY SINGLE THREAD OF INSANITY I HAVE BECAUSE THE MAN I’M BEGINNING TO FALL FOR HAS MAJOR TRUST ISSUES! CAN’T HE SEE THAT I AM A ONE MAN ONE WOMEN SORT OF WOMAN!
YES I’M A WHORE TO A MAR….
Huh...would you look at that Chiara? All because he lit a fire under your own ass because everyone else around you stays clear of it.
I…..
I feel nothing….
Maybe the cold will make me feel something in this empty body. Grabbing the handles of the window to pull them out. They smacked against the walls for the wind to soar through my room. It flew through my hair for the first few seconds for it to stop. The cold swaddled me up but I didn’t move from the window.
I do not deserve the things I have been given in life. For I am a cold hearted bitch with almost no remorse in my actions. I could possibly kill a hundred people and proclaim it to be for the greater good. No sense of remorse or sadness.
How could Grigor want to love someone as vile as me..I am cold..evil. Someone like me doesn’t deserve the warm embrace of what love is. This lust is beginning to form into the most dangerous tool one can have in their life. For it can bring life and destroy it in a matter of seconds.
I miss his touch..the way his fingers would glide across my arm as we snuggled together on the bed. The way he kissed my forehead after a long time of making love. Him showing me his drawings and I know he’s drawing me in my sleep! It hurts to feel this sort of way! I don’t want to feel anything! This feeling is almost heart wrenching and...beautiful.
My breathing began to choke till the only warmth that was on my body was the singular tear that had escaped my eye. I’m not a crier. Though we Italians embrace our emotions and turn it into something beautiful, I think this tear is a sense of relief. If I didn’t feel anything. I wouldn’t be whimpering in front of an open window.
A gentle beat from the door echoed through my room as I didn’t even move. If Peter was sending his soldiers to kill me I get the feeling there would be no knock. Please let it be Grigor. I need to feel his touch and tell him the truth. Not all of it but at least enough that I don’t spoil my plans for Catherine.
I closed the window to hurry over to the fire and toss a log in. If it’s Grigor then he probably would prefer something a little warmer. Please him please. Grabbing my robe to put it on as I opened the door. My eyes expanded from the confusion of who was standing before me in my bed robes.
“Elizabeth?” Well if she was coming to kill me I imagine my room has some sort of secret entrance and would’ve done it in my sleep.
“I hope I didn't disturb you. I think we need to have a little chat.”
“We do?” Dear God if Peter opened his mouth about what he started and what I finished I’m going to go kill him myself!
“Yes. May I come in?” Taking a step back for the door to open. She was in her bed clothes as she noticed the mess I had made in my room.
“The work of Peter no less?” I kept my mouth shut for once waiting for her to say something more. She’s going to defend Peter as much as she can. Probably for his own father who I imagine she secretly loved. From my understanding Peter the Great was also quite promiscuous just like his mother. A family of harlots.
“I heard from Peter what happened here early today. I highly doubt that you called him a bastard since he can be quite over dramatic.” So she’s aware that he’s a sniffling bastard whose inability to rule is quite prominent.
“Not talking much tonight are you? Usually you have a comment to say if I were in here talking about Peter.”
“For once Elizabeth. I could truly give a shit about Peter and his antics. I’m not here to please him and make him happy. I’m here for Catherine and making her more comfortable with her new station.” Try not to think that we might kill her own Nephew in a good amount of time. If not by Catherine then by the military.
“You’re not angry that he was in here and wanted to kill you?” She sat down in front of the fire in the love seat for me to stand before here.
“Your nephew. My cousin by marriage is a harmless little bug in my life Elizabeth. His actions were not even worth a single drop of sweat from my brow.”
“Did the stabbing of a major General not scare you? As an outsider I thought it would have scared you horribly.”
“Not scared. More gasping which then leads to utter annoyance. I am more than capable of handling Peter when he’s in a state of anger trying to kill me. What do you even want because I would like some sort of rest.”
“Be more gentle when it comes..
“Just because his mother was a horrid woman does not excuse his actions Elizabeth! That’s saying Zeus should be considered a kind man even though he raped Leda because of his own mental state. Peter thinks of him as Zeus when in reality he is worse than Hades himself! Life is horrid Elizabeth and constantly blaming his issues on his mother is disgusting and you standing here trying to defend him holds you accountable for his actions.”
“What an interesting comparison. You are a very bright woman and that wicked tongue is able to strike anyone down.”
“I can strike down anyone with tongue and steel.” Taking in a sharp breath to walk over to a full bottle of sweet red wine.
“Would you like a glass?” Asking for her to nod. Popping off the court to grab two glasses then bringing two glasses over for us. Sitting down across from here to begin pouring her a glass. She motioned for me to stop for me to pour myself some as well.
“I apologise dear Aunt Elizabeth. I sometimes forget to catch my tongue before it falls out of my head.” We both took a long drink to the point when we were done I had to pour a little more between us.
“It’s quite alright. I’m just grateful you didn’t kill my beloved Nephew before it was too late.” Before I could answer the doors bursted open.
“Excuse me mam?” Turning to see a serf was standing by the door of my world. Did something happen to Fernanda?
“Zasha? What is it?” Elizabeth stood up from my chair to approach her.
“It’s the Emperor. He’s fallen gravely ill.” Well. That is going to solve our problems much faster than I thought it was going to happen. She wrapped herself around her robe as we began walking out of my bedroom.
“Why are you coming? I thought you despised him” She asked for me to nod but was still walking.
“We’re family by marriage. He is now my cousin whether I like it or not.” Turning the corner to see that Orlo, George...and Grigor were waiting outside the room. Splendid. I imagine his wife was ready to lay in bed yet stumbled into that mess.
“From what I’ve seen and heard it sounds bad. A lot of vomit and blood.” Orlo told us to stand next to Orlo. One of the priests that was in the room came out with the black mask on his face to then take it off before us.
“You may not enter the room. For it might be contagious till the doctor tells you differently. For he’s running a high fever, a lot of vomiting, and has been seeing strange visions. The Archbishop is there with him now. He’ll tell you more once he comes out.” Is...Is that vomit on his mask? Or...dear god. He walked past us heading down the hall towards the apartments.
“How is he?” Catherine came in with a very well detailed look of uneasiness.
“Very ill.” Elizabeth told Catherine for my eyes to drift over to Grigor. He was holding onto George but staring directly at me. Stupid man. Stupid man!
“Can we go in?” Catherine asked Orlo but I’m assuming not.
“Well everyones being kept out here.”
“In fear of contagion.” Finally looking at Grigor again for us to lock eyes for a brief instant till I turned to Catherine.
“He’s been vomiting continuously throughout the night, and he runs a high fever, and he has fits of wild delirium.”
“The Doctor and Archbishop are with him.” I told her to place my hands on her shoulder to give some comfort to this poor wife and my cousin. The door opened for a child to come out with a bowl filled with blood and vomit. Not to mention his entire body was covered head to toe in Peters upchuck...and from the smell..the back door was also used as well.
“Excuse me.” Oh the smell! Covering my nose for Grigor and I to look at one another again. He doesn’t look concerned. Is that a smile?
We all leaned into the doorway to see what was happening in there since we could only hear the sound of Peter vomiting and coughing more and more. I did the sign of the cross to hold onto my cross necklace. I don’t pray for Peter. But I pray for the Doctor inside the room that he stays safe from whatever disease has fallen upon Peter. Peter could go to hell for all I care, but I have to keep up appearances.
The Archbishop popped in the doorway for us to straighten our backs. He came out of his bedroom to close the door behind him. Grigor inched a little closer to me to the point I could sense the warmth radiating off him.
“How is he?” Grigor asked for the Archbishop to stare directly at us.
“Extremely ill. The fear is that it may be Cholera.”
“Cholera?” That’s a rough sickness. Even I wouldn’t wish that sort of death on my enemy.
“Which I suspect he will have caught from a possessed, nocturnal animal. Probably a badger.” If I ever get sick in this country I would rather just endure the ride home and die in a carriage. These doctors are not touching me with a ten foot pole!
“Where would he have come across a possessed badger?” Catherine asked thankfully. That sounds absolutely unrealistic and not how you even got Cholera. Not that I don’t know how you get Cholera but I imagine it’s not from a possessed badger.
“If it is Cholera, he will die, will he not?” Holding her a little tighter as a cue to sound a lot more concerned. You have to make it believable that you’re distraught that he might die!
“It’s a strong possibility that we must face.” Looking at Orlo who kept the same straight face he usually has.
“Oh my little man.” THE POOR BABY! I WILL WEEP WITH A BOTTLE OF WINE AND GLORIOUS MUSIC!
“The Doctor is working hard on cures. It may be something else.”
“Has he said anything? Is he talking?” Why would he be concerned if he’s talking? Grigor might as well give a shit if he truly dies or not.
“He speaks intermittently. Much of it is deranged. Said he was a wolf, and wanted to eat Swedish children for breakfast. And there was some talk of what he’d like to do to Chiara and with various ladies of the court. I’ll spare you the details.” My body ran cold for Catherine to turn and face me. The blood in my body felt as if it dried up as I wanted to vomit. Looking at Grigor as I felt so disgusted with myself.
“Before more bouts of diarrhea and vomiting.” The Archbishop went back in for Grigor to take in a deep breath.
“I will go in to see him.” Say what?
“Do not risk your life.” Elizabeth told him as he stopped in the doorway.
“I want to be there for my friend.” Bullshit! He could give an absolute shit about Peter at this point!
“I had no idea your husband was so brave, Georgina.”
“Oh yes famously so.”
“In more ways than one.” Adding into the conversation for George to turn and face me.
“Just being honest.” An angry snake she is when I add my own little comments. Settle down hypocrites.
Orlo, Catherine, and I huddled into our own group to see the expression of Catherines face change from the fake grieving widow to an excited future ruler. Must admit this is a little exciting for me as well.
“If this is Cholera, he could be dead within the day.” Orlo told us as Catherine was beginning to smile slightly but trying to control herself.
“Right. That means..”
“Yes. Yes it will be yours. You will rule Russia.” By God it’s going to actually happen.
“After all our planning..it just..”
“Falls right into your lap.” Orlo finished as the doors opened back up. The ArchBishop came out of the room to take off his mask. Remember when I said that this planning became stale? I stand corrected and I was completely wrong. This just made everything better.
“In light of this terrible situation, a meeting is being called to deal with the possible transition of power.”
“To me.” Easy Catherine. That’s a little too exciting for someone who's losing their husband.
“Indeed. It seems so. You are the next...should the worst happen.” Seems like the worst is about to happen right before them. If it’s going this quickly then I might be going home soon! Finally an end to this horrid nightmare and cesspool!
“Prepare with prayer, and the senate will be called.”
“I look forward to it.” Damn it Catherine!
“Not him dying. That is bad. And sad. And we hope for the best and a speedy recovery.” If I could slap my own face I would without making this seem like we’re excited that Peter is dying.
“God will be with us. He always is.” The Archbishop left the hall for Catherine and Orlo to talk amongst themselves. I need to talk to Grigor. I can’t stand being apart from him at nights for it is his warmth I believe that is keeping me sane. I don’t think I can tell him that I think I’m starting to love him but atleast telling him I need him is a good start.
*Grigors P.O.V.*
DIE! DIE YOU HORRIBLE HUMAN! YOU THINK YOU CAN SLEEP WITH MY OWN LOVE BECAUSE YOU’RE THE EMPEROR! DIE DIE DIE! I WILL KILL YOU AND WILL LIVE PEACEFULLY IN MY OWN LIFE!
Removing the pillow to see that he was still breathing! Bastard! Slamming the pillow back onto him to push down even further in hopes that I might finish the job! Just die! How hard is it to kill someone who's already dying! Talking about Chiara as if she’s just a common peasant!
“What are you doing!?” George yelled as I continued to push down harder and harder.
“What is right and you know it George! I have to do something!”
“Fuck!” George pulled me back as we stopped to see Peter was still breathing. Dragging me from his bed towards the middle of his room.
“I was given the choice to be a man or a child! I’ve decided to become a man for the sake of my sanity!”
“You poisoned him?”
“Arsenic. From the wall in his borscht!” Feeling the cold slap from George as she was in full rage of my actions.
“What happens to us when he’s dead? Think what Peter provides for us!”
“You...you..”
“You’re a stupid fool Grigor!” She took a deep breath to calm herself down.
“Our situation is complex. Yet also simple! We have a safe life with Peter! Luxury, security, a place in court. Who’s he gonna be replaced by? Catherine!? We’re nothing to her! What happens to us then? Not to mention Chiara is making it much more difficult to handle this situation. No thanks to you!”
“So you may have a lover but I may not!” I love Chiara and this marriage is non-existent!
“Grigor?” Peter called for me as I turned to see him barely awake and moving. Say something George! You hypocritical bitch say something!
“We’re here.” George, like a mother goose, flew to Peter's aid. Well. It’s very clear now on where my life stands now. George has made her bed and it is time for me to make my own with a Duchess who isn’t afraid to get the job done when it needs to be done.
Letting go of the pillow to march out of the room and slamming the doors shut. Taking in a few deep breaths to calm myself before scampering off to Chiara. Chiara? Where is she? Perhaps in her chambers!
It was like seeing a light at the end of the tunnel heading to her apartment! The outline of the room was glowing before my eyes. Chiara..my love. The only woman in this world that can make my knees buckle to bow at her feet. That fire is intoxicating to the point that I might die of happiness.
Slamming the door open to see Chiara was in front of the flames looking directly into them. Her head slowly turned to face me with a somber look. A bottle of wine sitting next to her looked thoroughly used. Oh my precious flame. Closing the door to sit down next to her as she went back into looking into the fire.
“I placed my blade against his neck threatening to take his life away. Why didn’t I slice it open? Tell me why I didn’t Grigor?” She asked for me to place my hand on her cheek.
“What happened before I came in?”
“He was mad that I helped Velementov at the front for strategy. He drew a sword on me and I fought back. I won and threatened him that if he were to ever draw his sword on me that I would win. I...I should’ve sliced his throat open and strung him up as if he was game to place on my wall.” I feel like I should tell her that I’m the one that poisoned him. That he is dying in his own bed because the world would be better without him! She was literally going to kill him before I even came into the room!
“Chiara. I’m the one who caused him to become ill. I poisoned him in the borscht while he was eating dinner.” Her expression was the same as before till it clicked in her mind. Her entire face went from a beautiful red to a ghostly white in a matter of seconds.
“Holy shit..” She whispered to turn her attention to the fire. Is she going to tell Catherine? Not that Catherine might care much but what if she does? Would she tell the court? No...no what have I done!
“I would ask why but that..oh my god.” Turning her head to face me as I gulped.
“If it helps, I did it for you. For us..for everyone in the court that his idiocy will go away.” Her lips were slightly open with her breathing beginning to rise.
That lovely color began returning to her cheek as she climbed on top of me and wrapped herself around me. Those entrancing lips striked against mine as my hands traveled up her back to pull her shirt. She stopped to place her index finger on my lips.
“For you committing such a horrendous act. Allow me.” Removing her finger to place a kiss on my lips, to my cheek, then right underneath my jaw line. I could see the stars from how well she was working those luscious lips. Her hand gripped my cock to start playing it through my pants. God her touch. It’s almost too delicious to even allow. My eyes rolled back for me to lay down on the rug for her kisses to start moving down my body.
I love her...I hope that she knows that I would kill an army for her without regret...
jesus christ ok do any of y'all remember my hell job at the doggy daycare last year? the one i literally reported to OSHA and tried to negotiate better working conditions and got shat on for it?
yeah so the past month has been hell for just about every dog owner in the city bc this daycare, who prioritizes profit over care and never bothered putting a cap on the amount of dogs they take in during the day (leading to an average of 100 or so dogs every day at just one location) became the epicenter of Kennel Cough. for the whole city.
even my mom's dog, who has never been to this daycare, ended up getting it bc her trainer was working with dogs who did, and she wasn't aware of the infections until it had already spread
Kennel Cough is basically the flu for dogs, and if you haven't heard what it sounds like in the first couple days then you're lucky. these dogs literally choke on the excess fluid drainage in their respiratory system. the sheer amount of coughing they go through puts so much strain on their diaphragms that they're in a lot of pain on top of everything.
and i have a good idea exactly what happened, bc my bosses did the same thing when i worked there too
if you run a doggy daycare, you should not accept a dog exhibiting symptoms of Kennel Cough. it's highly contagious, and of course the dogs aren't aware of that so they will continue to interact with other dogs.
but no, even when the owner tells them "yeah my dog has kennel cough but i can't leave them at home" the daycare just. kept accepting them. we'd then have to lock them up in the basement and disinfect everything when we take them to potty. if that extra care was taken, and things were thoroughly cleaned and the dog was kept far away from the rest of the pack, it could be manageable.
but the owners never hired enough staff to ensure all normal duties were done safely, so i would imagine that the employees got sloppy. they weren't able to keep an ear out for potential coughing in the yard. they may not have had the time or focus to deep clean/disinfect everything the infected dog came into contact with.
so it spread. it got into all three locations in the city, and the dogs would take it home with them and spread it elsewhere. they were taken to the vets, spread it in the clinics.
i went to pick up meds for my dogs cough, and the clinic i went to was just overrun. the vet i spoke to, exhausted and annoyed, explained what happened, and all she had to say was "Hounds Lounge" for me to understand.
this fucking nightmare daycare caused a goddamn epidemic and idk what laws are in place for this but i hope they get the shit sued out of them
Can you please do a modern Rowaelin au where Rowan is a tattoo artist and Aelin makes a weird request or something? I love your writing btw. 💜
note: i actually like this one a lot for some reason. hope y'all like it too! if you'd like to check out my other fics, here's the masterlist.
Tattoo Artist AU
Rowan knew he shouldn't be awake and working so late, knew he'd regret it in the morning but he couldn't bring himself to leave. It was almost an hour past midnight and he wanted to make full use of the peace and quiet to finish some of his sketches. That was why he groaned when a knock on the door interrupted his work.
Rowan sighed, shouting, "Come on in. The door's unlocked."
She came stumbling in, blonde hair spilled over her face and red lips curled upwards in a grin. The scandalous little black dress she wore rode up higher as she walked inside bare-footed and utterly drunk. She looked so beautiful, it struck him stupid.
Aelin waved at him. "Mr. Whitethorn!"
"Aelin—Miss Galathynius? You're here?" Rowan could hardly contain his surprise.
He knew Aelin Galathynius, had worked for her father as a private bodyguard before he had started dating Lyria who had convinced him to leave the job and the danger that came with it. He had never run into much but the girl had an awful habit of creating trouble wherever she went.
Aelin grinned wider now, stepping further inside. Part of him wanted her to leave so he could continue with his sketch. The other, more ridiculous part of him wanted her to stay a while, talk and catch up. Both parts were however highly aware that she was drunk and he needed to call her cousin.
"Please make yourself comfortable. Can I help you with something?" Rowan asked, waving towards one of the seats.
Aelin hopped on the worktable instead and sat cross legged, drawing all attention towards her smooth, bare legs. "I would like to get a tattooooo!"
"A tattoo?" He was a hundred percent sure her father would die of heart attack if he knew his daughter wanted a tattoo.
Aelin nodded, looking pleased with herself even as her eyelids grew heavier. Rowan took the moment to shoot Aedion a quick text. Hi, this is Rowan. Your cousin is in my studio, drunk as hell and I am about to close shop for the night. What do I do??? Aedion was one of the few people from his old job who he was still in contact with and he had never been more glad of it.
Aedion's reply came a quick few seconds later. I'll be right there, wait for me! Rowan sighed. He was stuck with the blonde troublemaker for now.
She was skimming through the sketchbook on the table in front of her, a big smile on her face. It was one of those contagious smiles that made his own lips twitch and nothing but sheer force of will kept his features from softening.
Aelin looked up from one of the sketches. "I want a tattoo."
"I know," he said.
"Then give me one?"
Rowan said, "That's not how it works. We don't tattoo drunk clients."
She pouted, widened eyes directed towards him. "I am not drunk."
He knew that look, had seen her use that innocent pleading look to evade her guards a million times before. Rowan pointed towards her feet. "Right. Where are your heels then?"
She shrugged. "I threw them at Aedion."
"You what?"
Another shrug. "He pissed me off. But I really do want a tattoo!" The sound that came out of her mouth wasn't human.
She tucked her golden hair back, turquoise eyes trained on him. He had never been close enough to her but now that he was, he could see the ring of gold outlining the turquoise. He had never seen prettier eyes.
Rowan feigned surrender. "Fine, I'll give you a tattoo. What kind do you want?"
She gave herself that self-satisfied smile she only had when she finally accomplished something she wanted to. Then she paused, thinking. "Hmm, I think swords are pretty neat and maybe even a fire? Too cliche—Wait, I know!"
"What?" he said, then took a huge gulp from his water bottle.
Aelin had a wicked, unabashed grin on her face but he had no time to brace himself when she said, "I want you to tattoo your name on my butt."
Rowan choked. "Wha—I won't—No!"
"Not even if I say please?"
"Not even then."
"But what if—"
"No."
"You won't—"
"No."
"I could—"
"Not at all."
Aelin leaned in close enough that he could smell the alcohol in her breath. "You're sure there's nothing I can do to convince you otherwise?" Gods, she was killing him, testing his resolve.
Rowan cleared his throat. "You can't convince me otherwise."
"Please?" she whined.
A car honked outside. Rowan's phone buzzed with a new text message from Aedion. I'm here. Bring her outside? Rowan could have cried in relief. "Aedion is here, come on."
Aelin jerked back. "Not until you accept my request. I will not move!"
The moment she was gone, Rowan was going to need some alcohol himself. "Fine, I'll make you a deal. You come back tomorrow and if you still want me to tattoo my name on your butt, I'll do it. Sounds good, Aelin?"
She nodded, finally hopping off the table and stumbled. Rowan grabbed her in his arms, keeping her upright as he brought her outside, Aelin half leaning over him. Aedion took her from him the moment she was out and Aelin grumbled a good number of curses when she saw the scowl on his face but she kept grinning at Rowan.
Aedion looked back towards her, then towards him. "Thanks and sorry, man. She can be a bit handful."
"I had fun." He meant it. "She is great."
"I know I am!" Her high pitched voice carried over to them.
Aedion chuckled, closing her car door before he got inside. Aelin was still waving at him when Aedion drove off, a bright grin on her face. When he got inside, Rowan was surprised to find a note with her number scrawled on it. If you're not going to give me a tattoo of your name, at least send me a text. He didn't know when she left it there, hadn't noticed a piece of paper or a pen in her hand the whole time.
Rowan couldn't keep the smile off his face for the rest of the night.
When y'all say shit like "I don't think this coronavirus is that bad. It already stopped in Italy. So, I think there's something else happening" You don't sound half as smart as you think you do.
Italy spent 3 months under complete lockdown, as of today it has almost 34,000 confirmed COVID-19 deaths. Their healthcare system was overrun.
You know what this something else that's happening is? This is a new pathogen. It means that tgere are no antibodies for it present in the population, and it is a highly contagious one.
Y'all really need to stop with that smart brain of yours.
“The Prince Diaries” Todoroki x Reader
Summary: This idea is based on the mattress sliding scene in the movie The Princess Diaries 2!!! You are the daughter of a small kingdom invited to Prince Shouto’s coronation where he will choose a future bride! Not wanting to be there, you try to eliminate yourself first, however, will things go as planned?
Words: 4,217
Warnings: A minor mention of death. Todoroki has long hair. This could possibly be a TodoDeku x Reader if you want…you decide.
Author’s Note: I’m very sorry this took so long!; This semester is ending and I have papers to write! Y'ALL I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS COMING I PROMISE I’M SO EXCITED MY IDEA LIST IS GROWING!!!! If ya’ll haven’t seen The Princess Diaries…you need too.
You huff, crossing your arms over your chest as you watch all the other candidates flaunt their expensive clothing and jewelry trying to catch the princes’ attention. Glancing up, you eye the prince as he crosses his legs on his throne, boredom clear on his face. You didn’t even want to be here anyway, but it wasn’t like you had a choice either.
You were the daughter from a small kingdom in the mountains. Small meaning it's not the most advanced in society and every day your land is being threatened to be overruled. One day, the scroll carrier had arrived at the castle your family resided in, and handed your father an invitation to the princes’ coronation where he will also be choosing a potential future queen. When you heard, you didn’t feel flattered because you knew King Enji had sent them out to all kingdoms who had a daughter in line for the throne. And probably this was his way of getting more land.
The Todoroki’s Kingdom was ruled by King Enji after the death of Queen Rei, who fell ill from a contagious disease. Rumors circled the land regarding her death because she was the one who originally ruled the kingdom. Some assumed King Enji poisoned her and just wanted the power that came with the monarchy, others mourned the family as a whole. This situation was a highly debated concept that is still unclear to the public.
When you heard about the scroll, you laughed it off while looking at your parents for agreement. Seeing their serious expression, you grew uneasy and your laughter died down into a dry cough. Your parents saw this as an opportunity to combine the land, peacefully, and in the end, your parents were the ones who thought it would be a good idea for the kingdom and not your feelings. You could at least amuse them. Hell, I’ll amuse myself. You can’t force me to do something like this.
Your mother had insisted you wear your best attire for the occasion before sending you on your way with the best horse and carriage your kingdom had to offer. Little did your parents know about the plans you had up your sleeve. Before you left, you grabbed a pair of comfy attire you would wear around the castle when not seen in the public eye and stashed it in the hidden compartment in the carriage. If Prince Todoroki was going to pick someone, might as well eliminate yourself first.
The Todoroki’s castle had left a major impression on you. Their castle was a white and gray pristine marble that was surrounded by a beautiful floral garden, the bright colors were striking against the marble. Coming from your own kingdom, you felt out of place and intimidated. Also, seeing all the other females around you, you could tell they all came from a high-class society. Whatever. I’m here to eliminate myself first anyway. Sorry mom and dad but there’s no way this is going to happen. You were from a small kingdom anyway, why would a prince want you?
Upon entering the castle and seeing all the other girls, you were informed of the sleeping arrangments and how every girl will have their own room. Each room also came with an appointed servant from the castle who is supposed to help with any needs you may have. Those poor people…I hope they are being treated with the respect they deserve. You were extra polite to the wonderful servant, named Midoriya, who was assigned to you and you kindly told him you were okay for the time being. You also declined his offer to help get ready for the introductions; you were already wearing a dress. And because I’m not planning to stay.
That’s how you got to this point. You look around again to your surroundings and noticed the smooth marble ramp between the white and gold curved staircase before looking back up at the prince. He is pretty handsome. You lean back against a pillar and give him a once over. His uniquely split white and red hair was elegantly braided around the sides of his head in a half up-half down style. A few strands had fallen and framed his porcelain face, which was held in the palm of his hand as he leaned on the arm-rest, his heterochromatic apathetic eyes narrowed with annoyance. He was dressed to the heavens with the navy blue and white colors of the kingdom, a gold embroidered family crest resting over his heart. Last but not least, the pure white boots that were perfectly displayed as the prince crossed his legs.
“Attention!” A guard with the kingdom’s cavalry uniform appeared at the top of the ramp. Once all the girls quieted down, the guard glanced off to the side and bowed before walking away. Out came King Enji who stood firm and noble, his aurora demanding authority. King Enji walked to the spot where the guard previous stood and glanced down at us, giving everyone a once over. Shuddering involuntarily, you think twice about the comfy clothes you brought, happy you didn’t put them on yet. You wanted to get eliminated, but not by the King himself.
“Welcome to the Todoroki Kingdom! Thank you for your attendance to my son’s coronation. Prince Shouto will be the one that is deciding his future,” King Enji gives Shouto a pointed look that doesn’t go unnoticed, “and a future queen.” You hear some girls squeal in excitement. “Let us begin the introductions!” King Enji states before sitting in the chair beside his son.
“Stand in a line and step forward when introducing yourself.” The guard from before reappears on the bottom floor, where you all stood, to help arrange the girls. Well, it looks like I’m last in line. I need to get out of here. You stifle a yawn as you hear the first girl step up and state her name and where she's from. Tuning her out, you take a glance behind you and notice the curtain slightly ajar. Oh, thank heavens I don’t have to listen to this. Taking another glance to see who was up next, you notice the other girls and King Enji rapt with attention. The guard was standing on the other end of the line, following the girls down as they introduce themselves.
Biting back a smirk you slowly edge back out of the line until you were in the shadows of the curtains. The girl next to you didn’t even turn to see if anyone was beside her. You send a quick thanks to your privilege of not having the clothing and jewelry to stand-out. Reaching the curtain, you pull it back slightly to not let excess light in and exit the elegant room finding yourself in an equally elegant hallway. Okay, now how do I get back to my room?
During your escape, you fail to notice a pair of curious heterochromatic eyes watching your every move.
~*~*~*~*
While wandering your halls, you stumble into the servant who was originally assigned to you. “Oh! Hi, Princess (y/n)! How did the introductions go?” The green haired boy asked. You stutter and let out a shy laugh. “Hey uh, Midoriya. They are going great! Actually, can you help me back to my room? I was going to change for the party.” After the introductions were complete, it was mandatory for each candidate to attend a party to socialize with the prince.
“Sure, Princess (y/n)! Right this way!” You follow the chatty servant through the beautifully decorated halls and admire the architectural structure of the castle. It must have been nice growing up here. I wonder if there are any secret rooms! Midoriya leads you up a staircase stopping at the first door on the right. “Here you are! Would you like me to wait to escort you back?” Oh shit. You were too bust lost in your thoughts to memorize the path you took. He’s going to have to see me in my clothes. You didn’t know much about this servant so you had no idea if he would go straight to King Enji. After your small mental debate, you decide to take that chance.
“Yes, Midoriya. I would like that.” Here we go.
Midoriya happily agreed to wait for you outside your room and encouraged you to take as much time as you need to change. Walking over to the bed where your items from the carriage were placed, you grab your light cotton shorts and oversized shirt from the neat pile it was folded in. You sigh in relief as you undo the bindings on the dress you have on now, instantly feeling less restrained. Quickly, you peel off your dress and change, the soft material brushing against your body. Going over to the mirror, you glance at the dramatic up-do your friend did for you back home and you shook your head. Pulling out a few pins was all it took for your (h/c) hair to be released from its tight hold against your scalp. Shaking your hair loose, you run your fingers through the strands and grab a ribbon that was laying on the dresser to tie your hair back up in a messy bun and pull some strands down to frame your face.
I don’t look like royalty but I sure do look hot. You walk back over to the door and take a deep breath awaiting your fate with Midoriya. Gripping the door handle, you turn it slightly and open the door quickly, startling the boy who was standing directly in front of your door, guarding it. He turns around and he freezes when he sees you. Oh no.
“You look amazing Princess (y/n)! How did you know it was a pajama party?! Did they announce it after the introductions? Well, they would have to so the girls know to change…” What? Stunned, you watch as Midoriya mutter questions under his breath. There’s a theme? A…pajama party? "Well…I sure hope Prince Sho- I mean Todoroki considers you…you’re really beautiful and kind.“ Midoriya scratches the back of his head and blushes while averting your gaze. This is the sweetest human being I’ve ever met. Feeling your heart clench with happiness, you wipe the corners of your eyes.
"I-I’m s-s-sorry Princess (y/n)! Don’t c-cry!” Midoriya fails his hands around, panicking. Letting out a loud laugh you grab onto his arm and hug it to your chest. “I hope you know we are friends now. Also, I’m very flattered you think I’m kind, but it hurts my heart to think about how you were treated before.” You look up at Midoriya and see his expression turn somber before cheering up again. “Yeah! Ok, Princess (y/n)! Friends!" A smile as bright as the sun blinded your vision.
"Just call me (y/n).” You huff, hating the formality of it all. “I can’t do that! I’ll get in trouble!” Midoriya tries to defend himself as you begin to tug him back towards the staircase. “No, you won’t. I won’t let you get in trouble.” You pat his arm reassuringly as Midoriya adjusts his stance so you are properly hanging onto his arm before he leads you two down the stairs. “Midoriya, can you tell me a bit about this castle?” You ask before he can come up with another excuse. His attention is finally diverted to something else as you happily and intently listen to Midoriya talk as he leads you back to the curtained room from before.
~*~*~*~*
“Oh! So you grew up with Prince Todoroki?” You ask Midoriya as you reach the curtain you snuck out of before. He nods in response and pauses outside the curtain where you can hear the flirty chatter and giggles emitting from inside. “We’re here!” He announces dropping the topic completely. I want to know more about his childhood with Prince Todoroki. Pouting, you take your arm out from Midoriya’s as he pulls back the curtain letting you two inside.
Gasping, you look around as the room was redecorated with silk pillows and embroidered blankets with small tables adorned with cute tea cakes. Upon your inspection, you also notice King Enji gone, along with the guard. "Did the girls even change?“ You hear Midoriya mutter, snapping your attention to the cluster of girls surrounding Prince Todoroki. The Prince was currently kneeling at one of the tables on the floor and slowly sipping on some tea, irritation clear on his face. The girls may have not changed, but the prince changed into some pajama’s that still screamed royalty and expensive.
"He looks like he’s in pain.” You point out, walking over to some of the sweets laid out. Sucks to be a bachelor…I wonder if he even wanted this coronation to happen. Picking up a beautifully decorated strawberry cupcake, your mouth waters as you take a bite of the treat. Oh, sweet heaven above what the hell is this delicacy? You didn’t even know you let out a moan until a woman came up to you in a rush. “Is everything okay, Princess?” Confused, you look at her worried figure. Swallowing, you lick your fingers and give her a genuine smile. “It’s absolutely delicious! Give my compliments to the chef!”
The woman looks at you in shock before nodding frantically and scurrying off. Turning towards Midoriya, who was looking at you in awe, you place your hands on your hips. “Is no one here treated how they deserve to be treated?” At this point, you were starting to get concerned about this kingdom’s well-being. “If it’s not Prince Shouto, then the kindness is hard to come by,” Midoriya speaks softly, looking down at the ground.
Appalled, you dust off your hands from any crumbs and grab Midoriya’s hand. “Let’s have some fun!” Deciding to change the topic again, you pull him to the pile of pillows on the floor before dropping his hand to inspect them. This could work. You eye the ramp from before that was between the curved staircases. "I don’t think I can accompany you right now. You are supposed to be talking to the Prince.“
Rolling your eyes at his excuses again, you pick up a pillow. "Lighten up Midoriya. Besides, the Prince is busy right now.” Midoriya looks back over at his friend and he sighs, knowing he couldn’t intervene and save him. Without paying attention to the sympathetic looks Midoriya was shooting the Prince, you find two pillows similar in size that you and Midoriya could sit on.
“Perfect! Okay, follow me Midoriya!” You throw one pillow at him and walk towards the staircase, beginning your ascent. You hear Midoriya stumble behind you as he tries to talk you out of this. “What are we even doing (y/n)?!” Midoriya whisper-yells when you two reach the top of the stairs. Walking over to where the ramp started, you turn to look at him. “Come here and I’ll show you!” Waving him over, you place your pillow down and point at it. “Sit.” You kindly order him with a mischievous smile plastered on your face. Your heart breaks slightly as Midoriya sits down obediently on the pillow, looking up at you like a lost puppy. I will never forgive whoever hurt this boy’s heart. He is too pure.
Sitting down on the pillow Midoriya dropped, you look back at his confused facial expression. “What are we-AAAHHHH!!!!” Without a warning, you push Midoriya forward watching him slide down the ramp at a fast pace. Once he hit the bottom, he kept sliding until you watch as he dives off dramatically before he could slide through the curtains. Excitement bubbling up in your chest, you edge yourself forward and take a deep breath before pushing yourself off. Boisterous laughter left your mouth as you felt butterflies erupt in your stomach, wind brushing past you as you picked up speed. Once you hit the bottom, you roll off as well, your laughter not dying down.
Glancing over at Midoriya, you see him holding a hand to his chest, taking deep breaths. For some reason, this made you laugh harder as you clutch your stomach, tears pricking the corners of your eyes. Pretty soon, you feel someone nudge your side and you weakly swat their hand away, trying to pull yourself in a sitting position. With your stomach starting to ache, you start to calm down with a natural high coming over you. When you finally gather yourself and look around for Midoriya to ask if he wants to do it again, you see him kneeling next to you, his head lowered.
Tilting your head confused, you reach out a hand grabbing his clenched fist on his thigh. “Hey Midoriya, are you-” Someone clearing their throat has you snapping your head to look in front of you. Before you stood Prince Todoroki, with his arms crossed over his chest with an unreadable expression on his face. Well…at least he doesn’t look irritated anymore? Wait. This is my chance to leave!
Standing up in a not so graceful manner, you lightly dust off your clothes, gathering yourself. Clearing your throat as well, you cross your arms over your chest staring back at the prince. You hear a few gasps behind him and you peek over his shoulder to see some girls staring at you in shock, some in disgust, and some in awe. Returning your gaze back to the prince, you step in front of Midoriya protectively. I don’t care if he said Prince Todoroki is the only one who is kind. I still don’t know him and I promised Midoriya I wouldn’t get him in trouble.
“He didn’t do anything wrong. It was my idea.” You spoke up first and froze when you saw a twitch of a smirk at the corner of the Prince’s lips. “Stand up Midoriya.” Was all the Prince said, still looking at you. You felt movement behind you but you refuse to look away from the beautiful heterochromatic eyes that held your gaze.
Out of the corner of your eye, you see Midoriya come to stand next to you, still looking at the ground. “I don’t think you introduced yourself.” Prince Todoroki said, eyeing you up and down. “Nice clothes. Looks comfy.” He adds briefly, an interested and curious look crossing his features. Huh?
Clearing your thoughts, you push his comment to the side. I gotta get out of here. "Nope. I didn’t introduce myself.“ You admit, hearing some gasps and whispers erupt from behind the Prince. You also hear a gulp next to you and you so badly want to explain to Midoriya what you were doing.
"I know. I saw you sneak out.” Prince Todoroki admits as the smirk on his face grows a little more. Your eyes widen in shock, but you keep your mouth shut as the Prince begins to walk around your figure. “You know…I almost had a guard sent after you. I thought that you were a spy.” He admits, coming to a stop again in front of you.
You let out a snort. “The only thing I spy is a lame party.” Looking behind the Prince’s shoulder, you stare pointedly at the girls before looking back at his face. This time, a full smirk appears on his face. You feel your breath get knocked out from your lungs as you watch his normally poker-faced expression become readable. Amusement, mischievousness, and fondness were all features displayed on his face that made your heart swoon. I mean…I guess I can stay for a little longer…
Meanwhile, Midoriya was next to you looking back and forth between you and Prince Todoroki in shock. At this point, he can guess he’s not in trouble and what surprised him more was your ability to get a reaction out of the Prince. Midoriya was very happy he got assigned to you and is glad you wanted him as your friend because he hasn’t even known you long yet he felt like you’ve always been friends with him and Shouto.
You watch as Prince Todoroki bend down and pick up the pillow you used to slide down. “That’s not how it’s done.” Was all he said before he walked over to the stairs. “No way.” You muttered, a genuine smile making its way to your face. I like where this is going. I didn’t know the Prince knew how to have fun. Turning to an equally baffled Midoriya, you pick up his pillow and grab his arm to chase after Prince Todoroki.
Stopping at the bottom of the stairs, you watch as he finishes his ascent and line himself up at the top of the ramp. Prince Todoroki drops the pillow and instead of sitting on it, you watch in fascination as he steps on it, one foot leaning over the edge of the pillow, and the other still on the ground. Midoriya throws his hands up to cover his eyes, though he still slightly peeked through.
Prince Todoroki bends his knees and pushes off with the foot that was on the ground, placing it behind the other, balancing himself. You brace yourself, adrenaline filling your veins as you watch the Prince glide down the ramp in a graceful manner. The world seems to move in slow motion as you watch his long hair whip behind him and he rode the ramp down, a wide grin of excitement on his face. Once he hit the bottom, he pressed his weight down on the foot behind him and hopped off, turning around to face you before bowing.
You cheer and laugh, clapping in the process. Seeing your ecstatic expression, Prince Todoroki smiles and walks toward you again. “You get a ten from me!” You tell him, your eyes sparkling with joy. From behind the Prince, you see the group of girls eagerly grab a pillow and make their way up the stairs, wanting to try the slide as well.
“Could I get your name instead?” Prince Todoroki asks hopefully, his interest peaked. “Yeah, I guess you deserve it," You let out a small laugh. ”(Y/n). From the (L/n) Kingdom.“ You curtsey and roll your eyes at your own childishness.
”(Y/n)…“ Prince Todoroki echoes. A girl comes up and grabs Midoriya’s hand who was still standing around. "Come on!” She says, pulling him up the stairs. You giggle, watching him struggle to keep up. “He’s my best friend now.” You state to Prince Todoroki seriously.
“Looks like I’m your competition then.” He argues back, a challenge clear on his face. This is fun. “So be it. I’m not going easy on you though.” You warn, pointing at him. He chuckles softly and shakes his head and your heart skips a beat.
“So, (y/n),” Todoroki starts, “first impressions really are something and let me say, I am not disappointed.” You blush, watching his face turn serious and approving. His eyes slowly travel down your figure this time in a different way that made you feel exposed and flustered. “I want you.” His deep voice whispered.
You feel your heart rate speed up as your face becomes red, heat radiating off of it. “You can’t just say that!” You accuse him, placing your hands on your cheeks, in an attempt to cool them down. Prince Todoroki looks confused. “It’s my coronation, right? I pick you.”
Letting out a breath of air you give him an embarrassed look. Does he not know what he just said? “Don’t say it like that!” You cross your arms over your chest and watch as he gets even more confused. “What do you mean?” Are you kidding me? He’s not innocent…is he?
“Nevermind! Yes, okay I accept.” You turn and grab two abandoned pillows on the ground and hand Prince Todoroki one. “Here, let’s race.” You turn and start walking up the stairs to calm your racing heart.
Behind you, the innocent face the prince held morphed into a secretive smirk, fully aware of what he was doing. For the first time in a long time, he felt a happiness and freedom that hasn’t been around since his mother passed. Watching your figure in front of him, he couldn’t wait to learn more about you and what else made you laugh without a care in the world. Or what else he could say to make you flustered.
Your plan to get eliminated turned out completely opposite from what you imagined, but your future looked bright with the potential for eternal happiness and excitement. Glancing up, you see Midoriya waiting for you two at the top with a smile on his face. Reaching the top, you smile back and turn to smile at Prince Todoroki.
“Let’s race!” You call out, running towards the ramp. “You picked her, didn’t you.” Midoriya looked at his friend knowingly. Todoroki smiled and nodded, turning towards him. Midoriya grinned and nodded back in agreement. “She’s special.”
“Come on slow-pokes! Or are you scared you’re going to lose?!” You call out from your seated position on the pillow. Prince Todoroki and Midoriya look at each other quickly before making their way towards you. You weren’t sure what the future had in store for you, but you were excited to find out.
Kay mini thing y'all can ignore
So my depression kinda had a huge spike earlier apparently and like,, it really freaked me out and thoroughly drained me
And even though I had a FANTASTIC day I still felt like total shit until I got home
Discovered a way to help myself! It might seem like a no-brainer but like, I really hadn't thought to do these two things before
1. Word Vomit. Basically just get all my thoughts down. Whatever came to mind, I type. Don't care about editing or whatever. It made me feel a bit better, and I ended up doing like around 2 pages. I was surprised by that.
But it still didn't help completely so
2. Drew Lynch. If you don't recognize his name, I HIGHLY suggest checking him out. He's a comedian, and I swear my mood improved so damn much just binging some of his videos on YouTube. It was and still is great. His laugh is contagious, and like,,,, yeah. If you're feeling down and you've made it this far into my rant thingy, check him out, or any other comedian for that matter. Drew was just the one that popped up in my feed and I fell down a rabbit hole of his videos
ANYWAY
Most stories will probably be put on hold until winter break, cause finals and projects, but still kinda unsure about this. I know prompts are taking awhile,, I just need to find motivation to write them. Hopefully that'll come over the break!
Have a fantastic morning/noon/night everyone!
