I have not gushed about this anime in a long while, so here we go!
Very pretty animation and design
Each character has a unique personality with their own struggles in life that you get to learn a little bit about
Heavy real-life topics are handled in a manner that validates the issues without making the anime as a whole feel too heavy
Friendships and bonds form as they all work hard to better their soft tennis skills
Different body types and shapes
All the kids, portrayed as bullies or not, are not portrayed as bad people and you get insight into their life, why they act how they do
There is a FtM Transgender character and a Non-binary character
This anime was cut short and might not be able to finish unless we start talking about it. People need to show that they like/love this anime enough to want a second season. This means we need conversations, we need fanart, we need fanfics, and we need to watch it over and over again on Hulu, Funimation, and/or Crunchyroll! Not illegally, because that doesn't get seen by the companies that we're trying to convince to buy another season of the show.
So let's hop to it guys. This show has been way better than an escape for me, it's been a safe place. With how many real-world topics and struggles are represented in the show, there's a good chance it could be a safe place for you as well.

Directed by Hosoda Mamoru, written together with Okudera Satoko
Japanese: サマーウォーズ
Type: Movie
Genre: Sci-fi, Adventure, Romance, Drama, Action, Comedy
Duration: 114 minutes
Aired: Aug 01, 2009
Season: Summer 2009
Studio: Madhouse
I had planned to see Summer Wars since forever, but before, I didn't have enough understanding of its plot I read in the synopsis. As what's probably already obvious, I like movies and series set during summer but I couldn't comprehend sci-fi so I kept it on hold. When I started craving summer again, I came back reading and trying to understand this again and thought "So it's like Belle?" Because I had already seen Belle way before since it was released, and just went for it. It did not disappoint. The characters were interesting, and their interactions were real, you'll see. I also liked how high-tech the world was even when they lived with flip phones. I wish we could have advanced like that. And I cried of sheer joy? And relief in the falling action. It's great.
Summary: OZ, a virtual world connected to the internet, has become extremely popular worldwide as a spot for people to engage in a large variety of activities, such as playing sports or shopping, through avatars created and customized by the user. OZ also possesses a near impenetrable security due to its strong encryption, ensuring that any personal data transmitted through the networks will be kept safe in order to protect those who use it. Because of its convenient applications, the majority of society has become highly dependent on the simulated reality, even going as far as entrusting the system with bringing back the unmanned asteroid explorer, Arawashi. Kenji Koiso is a 17-year-old math genius and part-time OZ moderator who is invited by his crush Natsuki Shinohara on a summer trip. But unbeknownst to him, this adventure requires him to act as her fiancé. Shortly after arriving at Natsuki's family's estate, which is preparing for her great-grandmother's 90th birthday, he receives a strange, coded message on his cell phone from an unknown sender who challenges him to solve it. Kenji is able to crack the code, but little does he know that his math expertise has just put Earth in great danger.

Asking the Internet for Help
So, I was going through my old stuff and I remembered that there was an anime that I liked and I forgot where did I wrote the name of on and I need help:
i was about a guy who had other 4 different personalities and since three of them were aware of that, they took part-time works or did errands around town to save up enough cash to get the original personality help, all the while the fifth personality realizes all of this and gets confused about all of this strange people apprently knowing him (of course, there is one girl for each split personality)
it was around 12 episodes long and I wanted to rewatch it again, I anybody knows please tell me

these are only some fics i have read, they're all underrated!! they make me feel giddy and they feed my bokuaka addiction.
ex revenge hot line | Lxnn word count: 63, 388
akaashi's side job is to get hired from someone who got hurt to date their ex and break their heart
↳ a little angsty at the end, but happy ending never the less. "you're not evil, just heartbroken."
say yes | kazzydolyn word count: 7, 721
5 times bokuto asks akaashi a question and 1 time akaashi has a life changing question for bokuto
↳ very cute and makes me feel single in 100 ways. 5+1 trend!!
call me koutarou | kazzydolyn word count: 2, 888
akaashi tries to break the enduring habit of calling bokuto "bokuto-san"
↳ i see this as very canon, this story is so well depicted! not ooc at all.
soft blue | groaninlynch word count: 6, 031
akaashi is unaware he lost his sketchbook and bokuto takes a sneak peek
↳ literally the reason why i wanted to make this list. 100% underrated!!! i love this so much
the great mystery of a hickey | sunnybluesky word count: 25, 479
hinata, atsumu and sakusa go on a mission to find the mystery lover that gave bokuto a hickey
↳ a bit long, and the trio is a bit stupid but it's bokuaka so no complaints

↳ oh how the turns have tabled. this story got me hanging by a thread.
cat and kid | norio word count: 2, 817

↳ norio's works are so good yet underrated!!! this story was a rollercoaster and i swear i had no idea what was happening. poor kenma must've felt 2x worse.
the impaled | norio word count: 2, 184
bokuto is a vampire hunter and akaashi owns an antique store
↳ you know when you want a part two so bad?? yeah. this one is the one.
cookies and cream | norio word count: 5, 840
akaashi has a habit of stress baking
↳ i think this is one of my favourites, i love baking and bokuaka, what a perfect combination.
nine hundred lies | norio word count: 8, 454
akaashi is a big fat liar. happy ending
↳ it's a happy ending, but akaashi lies through his teeth. do you think there's a confession?
one in a hundred | norio word count: 4, 080
though he has no proof, bokuto thinks dating akaashi would be easier if he didn't try to break up with him all the time
↳ akaashi second guesses himself so much, it projects onto his relationship. damn
4am | talonyth word count: 13, 448
akaashi doesn't call often, let alone at an ungodly hour
↳ i was quite conflicted about this story but it's actually quite good, especially at the end! almost like a slow burn. but medium. so medium burn.
wing man | CheekyBrunette word count: 8, 366
kuroo doesn't let anyone date bokuto that doesn't meet his standards. fortunately, akaashi does
↳ bokuroo is like peak comedy and friendship goals! oh to have a friend like kuroo. this story was quite nice and it's more of kuroo's pov than anything.
hanging by a moment | gabstar word count: 1, 169
finding the perfect moment isn't always easy
↳ my descriptions are so bad oml, i can't really remember what this was about, but i do remember that akaashi and bokuto has their own pace, and a lot of people like to interfere.

chilling on christmas
this started as an idea for the entry of the skunkape's holiday contest but i was busy those weeks and kinda forgot about making the drawing.
so i dicided to make a little animation.
i wanted to see how does gradient(???) shading looks like (idk how it's called and i am too lazy to look up) and maybe i will try to use it more often.
also the music playing in the backround is:
Poker Night 2 OST - The War Song (Sam & Max) https://youtu.be/kPLbSqZj_60?si=irtygWr3rHGDXtHQ
to anyone who is reading this i wish you a happy christmas and a merry new year!

Ive seenyou mention wuxia a few times now and i wonder what that is. Would you mind explaining it to me?
not the most qualified person to explain this as i'm not, in fact, from china; but i've read a couple of wuxia so here goes:
wuxia is a genre of fiction from china specifically, about martial artists in ancient china. i don't think a specific time period is like required? obviously some dynasties are more popular but idk how it goes in that front. it just has to be Not Today and probably Too Long Ago. like pre industral revolution i think. again idk if that's a requirement, but most i've seen are from around the same relative murky pre-electricity era.
xianxia is a subgenre of wuxia that's specifically more fantasy-like, and it's not just martial arts, but also spiritual powers and cultivation (which i have no fucking clue how to explain without two hours and three tangents other than chinese magic system. if you've ever heard of chi/qi as an energy, it appears there). so like- genshin is by all accounts a xianxia, it just doesn't use the more common specific xianxia terms like cultivation. some of those are very weird to translate and probably not common for the average non-wuxia reader, so it makes sense why they're going for alternatives.
chongyun and xingqiu and xianyun are very much straight out of a xianxia. xianyun's entire story quest was the closest genshin has gotten to a straight xianxia plot so far. i highly reccomend ashikai's video on unnecessary visions if you want more info on why genshin is a xianxia hahah
cyanide narwhal has some talk of some stuff from xianxia, but that's mostly because well- fucking liyue, that's how it works there. the whole light energy striking down someone who's getting powerful and giving them godhood if they survive the strike is, while not exactly like that, something that happens in some xianxia as well. like the way adepti work in general is just very xianxia. ashikai does a much better job explaining it than i do tbh but yeah
TL;DR: wuxia is chinese martial arts fiction in ancient china, and xianxia is a wuxia subgenre with more magic elements. also genshin is a xianxia
#i was going to recomend some xianxia if you're curious but like#genuinely don't know which one is a good starting point#like i'm tempted to say just dive headfirst into mdzs like most of us did but like#is mdzs the best place to start if you know nothing? unsure#genuinely#given how it's made to feel more lighthearted and formatted more like it's a fucking videogame#svsss might be a good launching pad#but tbf it's been a while since i read it#also it has unskippable sex scenes (i think??) so like- if you don't want to read that you're kind of out of luck there#not that mdzs doesn't have that either but they're not literally Plot Relevant. like the plot does not hinge on their horizontal tango#there's probably a good wuxia to start out there but i can't really remember right now#like mdzs is the easiest to recomend bc it's trial by fire and you're going to come out of the other end knowing like 80% of it all#plus it's not nearly as traumatizing as some of the other options#and it's so easily accessible it's almost funny#like take your pick: novel. live action. animation. audio drama. comic#it's fucking everywhere and the fandom is fucking huge so that's a giant plus#but that doesn't change the fact that idk if you can watch a couple episodes to get a feel for the wuxia genre. like would that work??#so i guess i'll leave that to everyone else to comment with any recomendations if they have a good one#for like an introductory work#or just decide mdzs is just the easiest point of entry. that can always be it. i mean we all made it anyway

A Mediocre Review of "The Second Best Hospital in The Galaxy"
Just watched the show, it's fun!
I don't watch loads of adult animation (like I watch some shows but don't make a point of keeping up with them), so I don't know how much it leans into the common tropes of the genre, but for some reason it felt like it might?
Not story or humor wise, both were solid and didn't overly rely on boring crass jokes (not that I have an issue with crass humor per se, but you can only watch/listen to so many jokes about shitting before you get sick of it as an entire thing).
There was a lot of gratuitous... gore? I guess. Like aliens being ripped in half and reassembled, and blood and brain explosions, and w/e. Though pretty much everyone survives w/e b/c medical humor.
And a lot of freaky alien sex. Which they leaned into in a "This alien extends tentacles into the eyes of that alien and rips em out as part of sex. In a fun way." A LOT.
Which would feel gratuitous if it wasn't so much: 'We are making these aliens "hot" (for a given value thereof) and the animators are going to have a contest to see how fucked up we can make their sex stuff.'
And seeing as we (almost) never actually see a couple that are the same species and def. never have sex snippets from the same species, the animators have a lot of fun.
My mild complaint is that they set up the finale plot fairly obviously in the premiere, and returned to that plot device for at least one minute each episode, despite a lack of relevance. Kind of just to remind the viewer that it was still there.
Which would have been fine if it was a 'weekly release' but since it was dropped all at once, it felt unecessary.
But yeah, characters are fairly compelling. There is a shocking amount of character development for what it is. (though it does have the perennial question in tv shows in general but comedy ones in particular: Will the development stick/ be noticeable in the next season? Usually not)
Story is fun, visuals, particularly visual gags, are great. I recommend it provided you are not overly squeamish.
