i feel like people wouldn’t have been so shitty in regards to violet if the game was more transparent about the issues within violet and minerva’s relationship before she was taken.
like i’m pretty sure the game developers did mention how vi wasn’t really getting the treatment she should’ve been (??) in the relationship, and you do see it in certain scenes, but those scenes are mostly in the romance violet route, so people who already decided to hate her and only play the louis route didn’t get to see them.

aurora, i just realized that we haven't really talked about our ocs' relationship dynamics that much :0 like, what are your thoughts about them, do you think any of them could be friends, rivals, enemies, maybe you have ideas for potential ships? 👀 i'm just curious!
Ooh~ Talking about ocs' relationship dynamics, eh? 👀
I actually made a post on Mia and Irene's thoughts on your RSA ocs, so that covers their relationships already. XD
I've sent in interactions for Avery with Slyvan and Iris before. I think both of them would want to befriend Avery for the same reason, but perhaps with different ways of going about it? They just see a cute angry boy and go: Wow! :D That's so cute. But whereas Slyvan is all smiles and offering gifts, Iris chooses to tease the poor boy instead.
We both already know how Violet thinks of Vance. 😶 There's potential for a genuine friendship though! Once Vance stops being such a chaotic troublemaker and Violet learns to let a few things slide. Wyn would totally get along with Vance though! Their cheerful energy would bounce off each other so well! Though Vance's fourth wall breaks do scare Wyn sometimes.
Reading Merrill's personality and unique magic again...Iris would be drawn to him like a magnet. He's flirty, mysterious, and somehow knows the juiciest romance gossip in NRC? She'll be eagerly looking for any chances to talk to him. Perhaps they'd get along really well, perhaps Merrill would find her exhausting. Either way, he's not getting rid of her for a while. 🤭
Allen and Mia would get along like a house on fire. Cheerful and energetic boy, always smiling? Mia would like to know your location. She doesn't even mind that much when he does something wrong and claims he didn't know it was wrong either. She actually believes him when he says that! She'll just forgive him and tell him not to do it again ajsajsasaaksa So yeah, they'd be great friends! 😄
Emile and Roland are best gardening buddies and I will die on this hill. I can imagine them pruning leaves together now. 🍃
Austin is like a prickly little hedgehog that won't stop biting people lmao. Good thing Zoya is immune to tsundere behavior. I don't think they'd ever be friends, really. Just acquaintances perhaps. Zoya tries to be friendly and teasing with everyone she meets, and she might double down on Austin because he actually fights back. She loves a good challenge. Wyn is another one that would try and befriend Austin! He thinks Austin might just be shy or has trust issues, so he tries his best to seem trustworthy! Hah...My poor sunshine boy will get hurt someday at the rate he's going.
Violet and Minnie are 🤝 constantly are we know it. Their energies are almost completely similar so it's safe to say they'd make a great team! (Aajsaiodiandi I can imagine Minnie and Violet scolding Vance and Seth now- 💀)
Aurora has taken an interest to Hayden, as he seems to change his personality depending on who he's talking to, so the poor boy will have a mini panic attack whenever they approach him now.
Xenon and Riley superiority, that's all I have to say on this relationship. I think Duran wouldn't mind hanging out around Riley either, as long as he stays quiet and doesn't draw any 'fans' over.
With time and effort, perhaps Chandani and Blythe could be friends! As of now though, Chandani sympathizes for her poor vice dorm leader in silence. Perhaps she'll bring her a snack to relax one day.
Aurora would be drawn to Seth at first, finding him to be super interesting and fun! He's already 18, but he's only a first year? How odd. They'd start to find him annoying once he shows more and more of his main character syndrome though, finding him to be too self-absorbed to get along with. Xenon would also find him interesting, but prefer to observe him from afar. Maybe he'll find out more about Seth than everyone else watching him from behind the scenes.

Second son
Summary: ‘You ran away from home?’
‘When I was about sixteen,’ said Sirius. ‘I’d had enough.’
‘Where did you go?’ said Harry, staring at him.
‘Your dad’s place,’ said Sirius. ‘Your grandparents were really good about it; they sort of adopted me as a second son.’

December 23, 1976 - 5:25PM
Euphemia did her best not to cry when Minerva's letter arrived at her house.
‘’Mia,
I know what I'm going to ask of you is totally irrational and you have every right to ignore my request and yell at me, but I don't see any other way out.
I've been noticing for a few weeks that Sirius has been acting weird and seems to be distant from everyone. A few days ago I noticed a bruise on the corner of his mouth, but I can't tell if it was a fight with his brother or someone else, you know how boys are at that age.
Anyway, I've noticed that it's been a few months since his detention has been signed by his parents anymore, and I've tried contacting them but Dumbledore keeps saying there's nothing to worry about - you know him, he's terrible at times.
I think there's something wrong with him, and I know Sirius comes to your house during the holidays because I always hear James talking about it, so I came through this letter asking that if you notice anything strange, please tell me. Or talk to Sirius to see if you can find anything.
I'm very worried.
Love, and I'm sorry to bother you with this,
Minerva.''
It hurt her heart more than she thought it would, noticing that the signs Minnie had said were all right there under her nose. James hadn't said anything about Sirius coming for Christmas, and he'd been there for two years now, even though she felt a little bad that he wasn't with his parents on that date. And James looked weird too; he was angrier than usual, and reluctant to talk to them and getting locked in his room.
When they were at the station, Mia noticed that Sirius had got off the train alone and looked guilty, not even looking in their direction as he walked over to where his parents were - who didn't look at all happy with his presence there.
He had already told Monty a few times that his parents didn't like him going to Gryffindor, and James had once told her that Sirius didn't get along with Regulus. But Euphemia always thought it was silly things that teenagers took too seriously, but now, she felt she should have given more importance to the signs.
“Sirius isn't coming?” she asked when she saw James coming down the stairs, an unusually sulky look.
"I don't know," was all he said, walking into the kitchen and leaving her alone in the living room. Her heart clenched, a bad feeling burning in her chest.
"Didn't he tell you anything?" James always liked to talk about everything with Euphemia, Monty said he was a big mama's boy, but she didn't mind at all. As long as he was going to look for her to get her opinion, Euphemia would be only too happy to help him.
"He just said he didn't know if he was coming." James walked out of the kitchen, a glass of milk and a cookie jar under his arm, but when he threatened to go back up to the bedroom, she stopped him.
"Come here." James didn't like being confronted, he'd inherited it from her, and he used to frown when someone demanded answers from him. But Euphemia had no choice but to do that, so he was going to need to spit it out. ‘’Is something going on? Did you guys fight?” she asked, folding the letter and placing it on the coffee table with Minnie's name down, not wanting James to know she already knew. This made it difficult for him to speak.
"No." He sat up, sullen as he always was when she did that. James didn't meet her eyes however, and that was a red light for her. He was one of those people who didn't mind looking anyone in the eye unless he was lying.
‘’You know you can talk to me, don't you? I care about you two.”
"We don't…" He sighed, closing his eyes and leaning back against the sofa cushions, the glass of milk and cookies forgotten on the coffee table. ''He was being an idiot the last few days, I don't know what got into him, but I was ignoring it because I don't know, he gets like that sometimes when he and Regulus fight, but then the christmas thing came up and I said if he continued in that mood he wouldn't be welcome here,'' James denied, pulling his hair angrily. ''I thought he'd know I was joking, of course he's welcome here, but then he got mad and told me he wasn't coming to bother me this year, and I yelled that it would be great so… I got mad, I wasn't thinking… so he got out of our wagon and went to Merlin knows where. I only saw him when we got off the train, and he was already going with his parents.'’
‘’Oh, son…’’
''I know I shouldn't have said that, but he was being an idiot, and now... I hope he doesn't hate me.'' Euphemia wanted to go to that hideous Black house to drag Sirius under her wing, force him and James to talk and make up, and bring him in with them. But Monty had already told her that this was illegal.
"He doesn't hate you, son." She opened her arms for James to hug her, stroking his hair and thinking about what she could do with the situation. "Did you say he and Regulus had a fight?"
"They...um," Of course James was too faithful to tell her about that. Too noble to betray his best friend. ‘’Kind of a fight.’’
“Does Sirius often fight with him a lot?” She remembered when they had once met Walburga and Orion at an event, and only Regulus was with them.
"Where's Sirius?" she had asked, because it didn't make sense to take just one child. And Sirius was what, twelve or thirteen at the time?
"He preferred to stay with my sister," Walburga said, smiling bitterly at Euphemia as if silently telling her not to meddle where she wasn't called.
She swallowed, thinking maybe she was seeing trouble where it didn't exist. Maybe he really wanted to stay with his aunt, she couldn't prove otherwise.
‘’Send him a letter later inviting him to our Christmas, okay? If you want,” she said, looking once more at Minnie's letter on the table.
"Fine."
December 24, 1976 - 10:54PM
It was snowing like never before outside, probably the coldest night this year so far, and the house was silent when she woke up to noises outside.
Monty jumped out of bed, wand in hand, just as she had, heart pounding in her chest and a motherly fear of protecting James at all costs from whatever was out there.
Ever since they declared support for muggleborns and as she and Fleamont began to increasingly advocate for minorities and help organizations of students who couldn't afford to buy supplies and clothing for the Hogwarts school years, they were marked as a target for the other traditional families, carrying a huge red flag where ''traitors'' was written in bold letters.
Euphemia couldn't care less about that, she was more than happy to be considered a traitor if it meant she was doing good.
“What was that?” James muttered, haunted brown eyes staring like he was going to war.
Her son didn't go to war, though, not when he couldn't even drink yet.
‘’Stay in the room, and get the portkey. Anything, use it!” She instructed him, but James seemed too stubborn to accept that. "James, enter your room now, and stay there."
“Three is better than two.” He continued to follow them, Monty further along and having already made a protective barrier between him and her and James.
‘’Not when one of them is fifteen. Now come in and stay there, me and your dad let's see what's going on.'
''Mom-''
"Don't make me need to use magic to get you to do what I want." She said authoritatively, and that caused James to fall back a few steps, looking at her startled. Euphemia mentally thanked him for that and walked downstairs, thinking that later she would apologize for talking to him like that, but that's because she wasn't risking her boy in that situation.
Monty raised his wand and opened the door, ready to attack whoever was there on the other side, but before he could, Sirius raised his arms and closed his eyes as if he too was waiting to be attacked. ‘’Sirius?!’’
‘’I'm sorry, I-’’
''What did we do on our last trip?'' Fleamont asked, and as much as Euphemia thought it was unnecessary - please just bring the boy inside he'll freeze! - she knew they were in the middle of a war.
''You tried to learn to surf with me and James, but you nearly broke your ankle when you fell.'' Sirius kept his arms raised, and she noticed that his lips were purple from the cold, and that jacket didn't seem to warm him. She didn't even wait for Monty to lower his wand and went over to him, pulling Sirius into their house and hugging him tightly, wanting more than anything to take away whatever inner pain seemed to haunt him.
He looked too terrified for a sixteen-year-old boy.
"What happened, Pads?" James ran up to them, looking worried about him too. ‘’You didn't even answer my letter and-’’
''I...I ran away from home.'' He shrugged and avoided looking her or Monty in the eye, Euphemia realized he had a backpack on his back. Her heart ached so much that she couldn't stop the tears. She pulled Sirius even tighter against her. "Mia, if I can't stay here, it's okay, it's just that I came walking-"
‘’Did you walk all the way here?! It's almost an hour and a half of walking, boy!” Monty yelled. "Someone could have tried something against you."
''It was okay, I,'' Sirius looked at James, and she knew he wasn't telling her all the details and he'd probably done something against the law to not die in the snow, but she didn't care about that now. "It was the first place I thought of coming."
‘’Of course, dear, of course. James, make him a hot bath, and Monty heat up dinner… are you hungry, Sirius?” He nodded, cheeks burning with embarrassment. ''Here, come sit in front of the fireplace… And of course you can stay here, please, I don't even want to think that you thought I wouldn't accept you.'' She sighed, walking with him to the sofa and taking off the wet jacket he wore, waving her wand so that the nearly extinguished fire began to crackle again, warming the room. "You can live with us Sirius, don't worry, you don't have to go back to those horrible people anymore." His gray eyes blinked with tears, and it was probably the first time she'd seen Sirius cry. ‘’Don't worry honey, you're fine now…’’
----
‘’Minnie,
I'm so glad you warned me about this, and I understand your concern.
Sirius ran away from home last night, he didn't want to tell us what happened and I think at some point I'll know, but the boy looks terrified now.
He's not okay, but he's going to be. And I've already sent a letter to Dumbledore telling him that now anything that happens to him is to call us.
I don't think Walburga or Orion will complain, they let their son run away in the middle of a blizzard and so far they haven't looked for him. But it's better this way, Monty would probably kill them if they showed up at our door.
You know that we always wanted to have one more child anyway.
With love,
Euphemia.’’

You are the one - Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bang Chan x OC; Lee Know x OC
Genre: au (high shool, college), love triangle, fluff, angst, smut, from friends to lovers. Warning: soft drugs
Words: 4k
Summary: Bang Chan and Jasmine have been best friends for as long as they can remember. With little time to finish high school, they both begin to develop romantic feelings. However, family situations and communication issues force them to move away. Once in college, they decide to try to regain the friendship they had. As Bang Chan sees the opportunity to finally be with the girl he has always loved, his friend Lee Know, who had been studying in England, returns home and the connection he develops with Jasmine is undeniable. Can the chemistry and attraction with Lee Know outweigh a tender first love and memories of years of friendship between Bang Chan and Jasmine?
Disclaimer: I named the character Jasmine (Minnie for Chan 🥰) because I love that name. Besides, it’s easier if we want to see Chan saying cute names (it’s better than just Y/N, I think) but you can totally picture yourselves in the story, that’s the idea. <3
Chapter 2 - An eternal promise
A few days later, Mark and Jasmine had started dating and everyone at school was talking about it, they quickly became the most popular couple of all. The boy was making sure that everyone knew that Jasmine was dating him, so he did not separate from her all day and whenever he could, he kissed her in public. Of course there were many photos of them on the school page and all the comments were from the other students saying what an incredible couple they made. To everyone's surprise, Mark was being a nice boyfriend, but there was something that he couldn't stand and it was seeing how close his girlfriend was to Bang Chan.
One night that, Jasmine managed to get away from Mark and she went to Chan's house. They both played video games, but even though they played Jasmine's favorite and the one she always beat Chan with, that night she had lost over and over again. Worried about the situation, he turned everything off and when Jasmine was about to ask him why, her best friend sat cross-legged in front of her, giving her his full attention.
"Are you going to tell me what's wrong, or not?"
"What are you talking about?"
"What am I talking about? Hmm, let's see, we bought your favorite food and you didn't try it, we're playing your favorite video game and you haven't even fought me because I beat you. Oh! I almost forgot it, you haven't talked and you usually talk non-stop."
"I'm tired, I've been working on some new sketches."
"I don't believe you. You are not tired, you're worried about something."
Jasmine took her time to speak. Meanwhile, she played with her shirt sleeves, looked elsewhere, even braided her hair over and over again. In all that time, Chan didn't press her or ask her again, he just waited patiently.
"Something happened with Mark." She said too softly.
The change in Bang Chan could not have been more drastic. His gaze changed to one that did not have the slightest trace of tenderness, his muscles tightened, especially those of his jaw. "What did he do to you?"
"He didn't do anything wrong to me. We were at his house, we were kissing and well, he wanted something else to happen, you know... " Her cheeks were taking more and more color as she spoke.
"Minnie, did he make you do something you didn't want to do?" Chan tried to ask that in the best possible tone, but he was waiting the least to go kill Mark if he had touched his best friend without her consent, that was precisely what he wanted to avoid when he told her to be careful with the boy.
"No, Chris, he didn't do any of that, but I felt uncomfortable. He just touched my leg and I jumped like a rabbit. I was very embarrassed. How am I supposed to tell him that I've never been with anyone when he expects something to happen between us?"
"It doesn't matter what he expects, Minnie, only what you want to do. If you don't feel comfortable with him, then tell him."
"That's the point, Chris" She said covering her face since that topic gave her a lot of anxiety. "I do like him, I like him a lot, but I don't feel quite right. I'm never going to feel comfortable with anyone."
"Don't say that, of course you're going to feel comfortable." He affirmed recovering his smile and taking Jaz' hands. "Ok, let's try to talk about this again. If you like this idiot..."
"Chris!"
"Sorry, I'll start again. If you like Mark, then what happens? What do you feel when you're with him?"
"I guess I'm just ashamed, it feels weird to know that he'll see me naked." Bang Chan was going to take her by the hands so she wouldn't get up, but the girl was quicker and walked around the whole room, she even opened the balcony of her friend's room and sat on one of the pouf they used to sit on and talk for hours.
Chan gave her a few seconds before approaching again. The boy knelt in front of her so that she finally paid attention to him and let him speak.
"I must look like a loser every time I have to talk about this. If I were Chloe, I wouldn't have this stupid problem."
"Minnie, shut up."
It was incredible how a phrase like that could be extremely rude on someone else's mouth, but Chan said all with such tenderness to Jasmine that he always managed to make her feel good. "First of all, you don't have to envy Chloe or anyone else. Second, things are going to happen when it's the correct time, you don't have to rush anything. If your friends are comfortable around the guys they date, that's fine, but if you need a little more time, that's fine too. If Mark is a good person, then he'll wait for you."
"What would you say if you're dating a girl who doesn't have the slightest experience in sex? Are you going to tell me that you wouldn't see her as a freak?"
"Do you know me so little? I already told you, there's nothing wrong with everyone going at their own pace."
"Mark is going to get bored soon." Jasmine sighed resigned that their relationship would end faster than it started.
"How can he get bored if you're the one dating him? He would have to be the biggest jerk of all. I think he's even more stupid than I already know him to be if he get bored."
"This is very frustrating."
"Everything will be fine, I promise you. And if something bad happens, I'll be with you." Chan got up to hug her and sit next to her. "What if we watch funny videos?" Jasmine nodded, finding her usual place on her best friend's shoulder.
She stayed there for a long time, laughing alongside Bang Chan at the most absurd videos of all and feeling more comfortable and happy than with anybody else.
*****
On Monday, Jasmine and Bang Chan came to school together. The girl was totally distracted as she tried to show her best friend the latest designs she had been working on. Chan was paying attention but it seemed curious to him that more than one person saw them and murmured.
"Look, this drawing is of mom and dad, I'm going to give it to them for their anniversary. Can you help with the shadows later? I'm also starting this one for Mark. He really likes this movie and... Chris, are you listening to me?"
"Minnie, I think something's up. Everyone is looking at us."
"It's nothing, just ignore them." Bang Chan looked again at his friend' drawings and paid special attention to the one of her parents, since it was amazing.
"You don't need help, this is perfect, your parents are going to love it."
"I'm dying to go to the beach house. We should invite Han and Changbin too, it would be fun. As soon as dad comes home, I'll tell him. He has a lot of business trips lately."
"Minnie, I don't want to be a paranoid person, but I'm sure something is going on."
"It's okay, Chris, relax." Jasmine knew her best friend so well that she knew how to touch him to tickle him and make him laugh until cry and that was precisely what she started to do.
It was then when Mark arrived and just the image of Jasmine and Chan laughing together was enough to get in his nerves. His handsome face changed into one that showed how much that situation bothered him and the little patience he had left.
What bothered him the most was that he was the most popular boy in school, every single girl would kill for a chance with him, and still, Jasmine continued to deny to sleep with him, she preferred to spend hours with her best friend. For someone like Mark, dating a girl who prefers another man, who wasn't even from the same group of friends, was the most annoying and humiliating thing that could happen to him.
"Jaz, good morning" Chan's eyes widened as Mark took Jasmine by the arm and pulled her in a way that no one would considered appropriate. "I bought you coffee."
"There's no need to grab her arm like that." By his tone, Jasmine knew her friend was trying to be as chill as possible but deep inside, he was getting angry.
"Excuse me, did you say something? Who is this Jaz, some idiot you help study?"
"Hey!" Jasmine did not think twice when she had let go of her boyfriend with force and in an overprotective way, she placed herself in front of Chan, she did not even let him react when she was already defending him. "What the fuck was that comment? Chris is my friend, don't talk to him like that."
"Chris? Isn't his name Bang Chan? Why do you call him otherwise?"
"What do you care how she calls me?" Jasmine felt Chan's hand on her shoulder, gently asking her to move.
So far, it was the first time the girl had seen Chan get upset with someone. Luckily, the bell rang and the teachers interrupted them. During recess, however, Jasmine had to hear how furious Mark was with her.
"It's always the same shit, Jaz! We've been dating for two months and every time I look for you, you're with that asshole. He's the one who looks like your boyfriend, not me. Are you sure you don't want to sleep with me because of him?
"Bang Chan is my best friend, Mark, I've told you this many times. We grew up together, of course I'm close to him."
"Do you like him? Has something happened between you?"
"Nothing has ever happened and nothing will happen because we are friends."
"Then why don't you want to be with me? Precious, I haven't been a bad boyfriend to you, I've had a lot of patience with you, I've waited for you for two months, Jaz. Don't you want us to be together?"
"Yes, I do, of course I do." She replied a little hessitant.
"So prove it." He demanded taking her by the waist. "Come to my house tonight and show me that you do want to be with me."
The rest of the day Jasmine was so distracted that during the Chemistry class she took with Chan she burned his robe and almost burned his hand too.
"Chris, I'm so sorry! I swear it wasn't my intention." Jasmine couldn't stop checking Chan's hands, not even when the class was already over.
"Minnie, don't worry, nothing happened to me." He reassured her by laughing and showing her that he was perfect. "What was keeping you so distracted?"
"Nothing, it doesn't matter."
"It does matter, tell me."
"I don't want to." Jasmine sat up in such a way that her back was turned to him. Chan smiled mischievously as he knew how to convince her, especially if she wasn't looking him in the eye.
"Well, you did actually burn me a bit, but if you tell me what you were thinking, I can forget what happened."
"Bang Chan, you are despicable. How can you play with something like that?" Jasmine had turned with a very funny face, as it was a combination between annoyance and concern. "Okay, I'm going to tell you. But you have to promise me that after school we'll go to a pharmacy." She had said that last thing so worried that Chan saw her more tender than ever and could only nod. "It's just that Mark is upset with me and wants us to fix things later, but I'm not sure."
"Why is he upset?"
"Because of you...Because of us" Jasmine replied barely audible while her friend was waiting for more details. "He thinks something is going on between you and me."
"How can he be upset by something so absurd? That doesn't even make sense! Everyone knows that we're friends."
Without any special reason, Jasmine mustered some bravery and tried to tell Bang Chan she thought she actually liked him and Mark wasn't that wrong. "Chris, I thought that ..."
"Did you explain that we are friends? He can't be upset with you for something like that. I mean... What the fuck? We're just friends. I don't get why this is so hard for everyone to understand."
Bangchan did not let her finish since, without him even realizing it before, that topic made him very tense, especially in recent days. He used to laugh when people teased them, but now he was beginning to feel nervous. After the party and the bottle game, he kept thinking about that kiss and, unconsciously, he was still dreaming about it. However, he was convinced that if Jasmine realized that, she would get extremely angry with him, so he was in absolute denial.
The way Bang Chan interrupted Jasmine made her sight and realized, once more, that it was illogical to try to make something happened between her and Chan. "Yes, Chris, I already explained him that. You don't need to react like this"
"I'm sorry. So, there shouldn't be any problem, you can fix things with him. But don't let him treat you like that, Minnie, he took your arm very..."
"He didn't notice, he didn't do it on purpose." Jasmine said getting up. "But you're right, there should be no problem, in fact, I think I'll go find him." She left without explaining much to him and even forgetting that she had promised to go to the pharmacy.
The next day, the students' gazes had grown to such an extent that it was no longer laughter what Chan was seeing, but rather mean expressions.
"What the hell?" Bang Chan tried to keep walking to the library and ignore the situation.
Since that that morning Jasmine's father would return home and he wanted to take his daughter to the school, Chan was alone. Or at least we has until Han and Changbin closed his computer without even saying hello.
"What's wrong with you two?"
"What's wrong with us?" Han asked with a concern expression. " Have you seen what they posted on the school's page?"
"I've never seen that shit, I don't know what you're talking about, Han."
"Man, you should do it today." Changbin handed him his cell phone and Chan saw a photo of him with Jasmine.
'From friends to lovers without any shame' said the caption of the photo. 'For years we've known that our beautiful Jasmine has been friends with the best student Bang Chan, but what we didn't know was that they were secretly dating. We'd heard rumors that she was a virgin and we'd decided not to publish anything because Jaz has always been very nice to everyone, but nobody likes a liar. We thought that she was happy with Mark, but we were wrong. Apparently, Jaz continued rejecting Mark and saying that she didn't feel comfortable being naked in front of him. But that wasn't true! After finally sleeping with her boyfriend, our little liar admitted to Mark she had cheated on him with her best friend. The question here is if she can please Bang Chan, since she couldn't do it with Mark. She did everything so wrong and so boring that Mark dumped her this morning not because of Bang Chan, but because of the terrible sex. Virgin Jasmine? If that existed at some point, Bang Chan took it upon himself to disappear it.'
As soon as Chan finished reading, he took out his cell phone to call Jasmine and tell her what was happening before she got to school, but the girl didn't answer. He knew her better than anyone and knew what that would do to her best friend.
"Dammit!" Chan said throwing his cell phone.
"Chan, the whole school is talking about this." Han said higly concerned.
"It was that son of a bitch who posted this, I'm sure!"
Thinking that Jasmine had opened up to Mark and told him what made her feel uncomfortable and self-conscious, and that he had still betrayed her trust caused Bang Chan to lose control over himself. Chan tried to get up but Changbin stopped him by standing in front of him.
"Listen to me! You can't get out of here like this. Do you want to be expelled?"
What little control he had, Bang Chan was using it to warn his friend to step aside, not knowing what he would be capable of if he kept stopping him. "Changbin, move"
"Chan" Han called trying to make him sit down. "If you go out, you'll make a scene and that'll be worse. You're the best student in the whole school, you can't do this!"
Bang Chan didn't even bother to listen to Han, much less Changbin, and stormed out of the library with such fury that his friends looked at each other nervously. Everything happened too fast, from Jasmine entering the school and listening to everything they had written about her, to Chan finding Mark and hitting him so hard that, if it had not been for Changbin, Han, and Jasmine's intervention, Mark would have ended up in the hospital for who knows how long. The beating Bang Chan gave Mark left him with his face covered in blood, a broken wrist and a dislocated shoulder.
Bang Chan exercised a lot, sports and drawing were his distractions when problems at home got out of control, which happened very often. So many hours exercising had made him stronger than the rest of his classmates; besides, being so calm and tolerant, Chan was completely unaware of how strong he could be. Now, Mark was the clearest example of what Bang Chan was capable of.
His parents had to go to school for him, something they hadn't done for years, they didn't even go to pick up their son's grades. The principal decided to suspend him and not expel him solely for the excellent grades of the young man and for all the times he represented the school in sports activities. The principal had also called Jasmine's parents, and it was her father who defended Bang Chan the most because of what had happened. Not even the boy's parents advocated for him as his best friend's dad did.
Not having Chan with her and hearing all the teasing and mean comments made the following days at school a complete hell for Jasmine. Since her friends had stopped talking to her and the whole school hated her, Jaz was astonished to hear Changbin's voice and to see Han by her side during the lunch time.
"Are you going to continue eating here?" Changbin asked. "It's fucking uncomfortable."
"Guys, what are you doing here?"
"Not much, we were just looking for a good place to eat but you took it, so I think we'll have to share." Han said sitting down next to her.
"Bin, Han, considering what everyone is saying about me these days, I'm not sure it's a good idea for you to be here."
"Bullshit, that's the only thing people talk about in this school." Changbin said gently pushing her to let him sit down as well.
"Those rumors ..."
"They are shit too." Han said taking out his lunch. "Don't listen to them, everyone's gonna forget about this sooner or later."
"There's a way you can forget too about all this mess." Jasmine couldn't help but laugh when she saw Changbin showing her some weed.
"Maybe later, thank you"
"Do you know how Chan is? We've tried to call him several times." Han said.
Jasmine explained that the boy's parents had punished him by taking away his cell phone; moreover, he could not receive visitors, not even from her. Changbin, Han, and Jasmine passed together that day and they convinced the girl to visit Bang Chan at night.
Bang Chan and Jasmine had escaped numerous times, but now, trying to decipher how to climb to the second floor, where Chan's bedroom was, made her realized that it was easier to escape from her house than to try to enter her best friend's. Jaz had seen Chan go out from the balcony, but for him it was easy because of how ridiculously athletic he was. Although she was quite good at sports because of Chan's influence, she was far from having his skills, specially taking into account all the things she had brought for him.
Chan had been reading when a sound coming from the window made him go to check outside. He saw his best friend hanging from the edge of the balcony, she had gotten there with the help of the branches that surrounded the house, but she was nowhere near falling. In seconds Chan was helping her up.
"Are you crazy? It's too high!" He said once that they were inside his room, but before he continued scolding her, the girl hugged him tightly, leaving him completely silent for a few seconds.
"I've missed you, Chris. I'm very sorry, now you're grounded and you almost got expelled because of me. If I had listened to you, this wouldn't have happened."
"It's okay." He said smiling and placing his hand on her head to keep her close. "The punishment will not last long and next week I'll be able to go back to school. Look on the bright side, you found out today that you are almost, almost as skilled as a monkey." He said making her laugh.
Jasmine gave him everything she had brought, including some cookies that Changbin said were special. However, as much as the girl tried to cheer him up, she didn't look quite right and Chan could imagine the hell she had to be going through. Her boyfriend and best friends had betrayed her and made fun of her in front of the whole school, not to mention that the thing that made her most anxious was now the topic of conversation of all her classmates.
"How do you feel?" He asked looking her straight in the eyes.
"I'm fine, it will pass soon, Changbin and Han have accompanied me. Besides, I don't need Mark, I have two other wonderful men with me, my dad and my best friend." She said winking at him. "But I'm worried about your grades, Chris, you wanted to apply for a scholarship and this is going to affect you."
"Don't even think about that." Chan sat closer to her and enclosed her with his arm. "That bastard never deserved you, it's not your fault what happened. You only trusted him and that is not a mistake."
"I've never seen you react like that, Chris. You weren't listening to me, nor to the boys."
"Minnie, I would do it again, if I could have, I would've killed him." He said so honestly that Jasmine felt a chill. "He hurt you."
"I didn't sleep with him. I don't know why he said that."
"Because he's an asshole."
"I've really missed you these days, Chris." She took his hand and made him stood up.
Jasmine was aware that it was not easy for him to be at home for a whole week listening to the screams and complaints of his parents, so she did what she knew best: cheer him up. The girl knew that the best way to make him smile was to help him with his drawings, or play one of all the sports he liked. First, they saw some of the drawings he had been working on, and then, Jasmine took him to a park, where they played basketball until they decided to visit one of their favorite places. That's how they ended up in a bridge from which they could see the whole city.
Chan's smile had always made her forget about everything around her, but that night, it was Bang Chan who hadn't been able to stop looking at her. He did not know what was special about that night, but he saw her more stunning than ever. Maybe it was the fact that she was wearing his sweater and seeing her with his things was something he'd always considered very cute. But it wasn't only that, since her eyes, the way she smiled, and specially her lips had Bang Chan daydreaming on her.
"Chris are you listening to me?" Jasmine asked waving a hand.
"No, Minnie, I'm sorry." He confessed taking her hands and looking at her so deeply that Jasmine felt something totally new in her stomach.
"What's the matter?" She asked very low.
"There's nothing that I hate more and that hurts me more than knowing that you are not well. I know you're here trying to cheer me up but you're not fine either. I need you to know that you can always lean on me, no matter what happens, Minnie."
"That's why I'm here with you, Chris. You make me happy just by staying by my side."
Jasmine got closer to him and closing her eyes, she kissed his cheek. Just with that simple but pure kiss, and Jasmine's hands caressing his face, Chan also closed his eyes and rested his forehead with hers.
"Chris, do you remember what you promised me the day we got lost when we were kids?" As an answered, he just nodded, he didn't want to move, not even a little. "You promised me that I'd never lose my smile if we were together. You've been keeping that promise all these years. It doesn't matter what happens, if I have you, I'll continue smiling." She said opening her eyes and giving him one of those smiles that Chan just loved.
"Then, there's nothing to worry, Minnie, you'll have me forever." He answered with the same smile and enjoying the moment before returning home.
To be continued… 🐺

Batfam Ficrecs - Part 3
Don’t have anything to read during the holidays? No problem, here are some great Batfam fanfics. Most of them are fairly recent, so hopefully you’ll find something new. The focus is on fluffy and funny gen Batfam stories, but I also included a few H/C stories and two JayRoy ones.
My other Reclists for fluffy Batfam fics are here and here if you’re looking for even more. Have fun reading =D
Short and Sweet Stories:
How To Break Up A Knife Fight by RubyofRaven (Gen, 1.5K, Rated Gen): In which Alfred is away, Bruce has an emergency, and someone needs to be left in charge. Family fluff Batfam style with a perfect ending.
A Hindering Hand by collectivefandomstuff (Gen, 4.3K, Rated T): When Dick is refused the opportunity to coddle Damian, he decides to lavish his other siblings with his questionably helpful assistance. They are palpably ungrateful. Dick being an annoying older brother is hilarious and sweet at the same time. Good feel reading.
Halloween Wonder by alecmagnuslwb (M/M, 1.7K, Rated Gen): Jason and Roy take Lian trick or treating and she has a specific request for their costumes. Sweet JayRoy family fluff.
Get Out Of My Room by damthosefandoms (Gen, 2.2K, Rated Gen): Dick likes to mess with his little brother. Jason enjoys being a little shit to his older brother. Everyone always says they’ll get along when they get older. They’re not so sure about that. Sweet and funny story about Dick and Jason being brothers.
Have I Told You About Minnie? by Hinn_Raven (Gen, 4.5K, Rated T): After you’ve known Matches Malone long enough, you get used to him telling you about his kids. Not that his kids know about it. Bruce is a proud dad, even when he is undercover, and can’t stop telling everyone about his awesome kids. Nice focus on the relationship between Bruce and Stephanie.
Night at the (National History) Museum by collectivefandomstuff (Gen, 7.2K, Rated T): The Batbros cause havoc at a gala and it is hilarious.
Nutella by good_ho_mens (Gen, 1.7K, Rated T): Dick just wanted Nutella, and Jason didn't feel like getting shot today.
One Wrong Step by good_ho_mens (Gen, 3.0K, Rated Gen): Damian steps on a mine and Jason refuses to leave. Also, Tim worries. Batbrothers bonding during a crisis and it is so good.
Put On Your Mask (We're Going Shopping) by shanahane (Gen, 3.2K, Not Rated): It's been... some time since Bruce has done any sort of shopping. Still, somehow, miraculously, the trip to the supermarket is a not a complete disaster. One could even describe it as successful. Wholesome Batdad with his sons.
Friends That Say (You’re Not Alone) by ProsperDemeter (Gen, 3.5K, Rated Gen): Clark visits Wayne Manor during Christmas and sees a totally different side to Bruce in how he behaves around little Dick. Sweet and wholesome, good dad Bruce and little ray of sunshine Dickie.
siblings being siblings series by envysparkler (Gen, 12.3K+, Rated T): The Batkids notice that Bruce never confronts Jason about little mistakes and start to use him as a scapegoat. It spirals from there. Super funny, especially once Jason gets his revenge.
 Hurt/Comfort Stories:
in doctor's office lighting (i didn't tell you i was scared) by good_ho_mens (Gen, 8.9K, Rated T): Tim gets meningitis and it isn’t pretty, but his family is there for him. A sickfic that goes pretty deep, including the first real look at how Tim’s missing spleen will influence his life. Hurt comfort done super well.
Tough Love by iselsis (Gen, 7.6K, Rated T): Jason finds his mother dead on the bathroom floor, but his grief is interrupted when a strange man breaks into his apartment and kidnaps him. The moment you get what is happening this story changes completely and it is so good.
Zoetic by PurpleArrowzandLeather (Gen, 4.2K, Rated T): Jason goes inside a burning building to save people who are trapped in their apartments. He doesn't come out. Emotional and sad, but so satisfying. (And Chapter 2 makes everything better again.)
Looking for Home by Team_Alpha_Wolf_Squadron (Gen, 11.8K, Rated T): Bruce and Jason are lost in the woods, not knowing how they got there, or even where they are. A little road trip even when there is no road is always good for bonding though. So, so great. Not gonna say more to avoid spoilers. Background Bruce/Clark, but that’s not really important.
Broken Bodies, Daisy Bloom Series by RandomReader13 (Gen, 15.6K+, Rated Gen to M): The Batfam during the zombie apocalypse. A very realistic take on how to survive the zombie apocalypse, with emotional family moments and the expected worst case scenario happening but with a twist.
Waylaid by Elya_Rho (Gen, 31.7K, Rated T): All Damian wanted was to spend the day alone with his father. Then Drake had to go and ruin everything by getting himself kidnapped... Damian pretending not to care about Tim while simultaneously doing everything possible to safe him is so good. Very nice Batbro story.
 In Progress:
Keeping Score by Elya_Rho (Gen, 67.3K+, Rated T): Brothers can turn anything into a competition … including saving each other's lives. Don’t worry about it being a WIP, there are no unresolved cliffhangers. The individual missions are so good and get even better with each chapter. I reread all of them several times already, so definitely worth a try.
the thing with feathers by bacondoughnut (Gen, 16.3K+, Not Rated): When Dick and Bruce go missing and Tim can't find them on his own he turns to the only other person he can think of for help, Jason. He just hopes they can keep from killing each other long enough to save their family. Jason reluctantly helping Tim, great detective work and begrudging brotherly bonding, what more could you want?
Drink Deep in the Morning by GordandV (Gen, 4.0K+, Rated T): Robin era Jason talks Dick into taking him driving. Sweet Batbrothers in an interesting magical realism AU. A WIP with only one chapter, but the world is established in such an interesting way, it’s really worth a read.
A Change Of Scenery by Sun_Moon_Stars_Jedi (M/M, 18.5K+, Rated Gen): Jason finds himself stuck in the past while Roy has to deal with the fourteen year old version of his husband. Time travel is just so much fun! I’m shamelessly putting my own fic here, it’s fluffy and funny, so if you’d like to, give it a shot.
Epic Series:
Emotional Motion Sickness Series by Batbirdies (Gen, 348K+, Rated Gen to M): A series beginning with Bruce Wayne finally deciding to go to therapy, and the ripple effect afterwards. I can’t put into words how good this series is. If you like Bruce as a good dad, who makes up for his faults and is there for his kids, you absolutely have to read this!
Flightless Birds Series by Ionaperidot (Gen, 181K+, Not Rated): A Bruce without the Batkids meets one with them. Cue Batdad collecting abandoned kids from the multiverse. The progress Bruce and each of the kids makes is amazing, an absolute must read. Slight TimKon, but the pairing is not the focus of the stories.
In For a Pound Series by Cdelphiki (Gen, 248K+, Rated Gen): Talia gives Damian to Bruce when he is still a baby and it changes everything. I’m sure everyone has already read this amazing series, but on the off chance that you haven’t, go do it. Everything Cdelphiki writes makes you feel warm and happy, family fluff of the highest quality.

You had been effectively graduated from Hogwarts for seven days, one week. The summer of 1978 was deemed to be absolutely ‘perfect’ by James Potter.
Everyone was excited for the trip through the country, but you only had one thing on your mind. The mark your parents wanted you to get.
Being born in a Pureblood family, regardless of House meant you had values to uphold.
Growing up your Family ignored Pure-blood rhetoric, just wanting to raise you to be a kind, courageous and good person. Things changed somewhere along the way. You forgot when your Mother went from a happy, caref-free witch to bloodshot eyes and proper customs, her mark visible even under her dark clothes, the aura prominent.
Hogwarts sheltered you and your group of friends, kept you all safe from much of the war brewing outside.
It wasn’t until the Summer before your final year when you had to face the truth.
                             ╚═━────━▒ ۞ ▒━────━═╝
Dropping your bags by the door your Mother embraced you, taking in the smell of your hair. You could tell something was off, the Manor was silent, not a sound besides the scurrying of House Elves trying to grab your bags.
“My Dear! You’re here, please sit in the Parlor we have so much to discuss!”
You were confused, but followed your Mum until you could sit.
“I need you to listen very carefully. Your Father is at Malfoy Manor. We’ve joined the fight, and we as a family pledged our allegiance to the Dark Lord.”
Even with her careful speaking you were still in shock, your mouth hanging open, all you could think about was Sirius. How he got away, maybe you could too. Every thought abandoned your mind, swirling around like a Tornado as your Mother continued speaking,
“He wants you to get the mark. After you graduate, you will be expected to kneel before our Lord and thank him.”
You shook your head viciously, so hard you thought your head would spin.
“No!”
It came out harsh as you stood up, scraping the chair against the floors. Your palms hit the table as you looked up in anger.
“Is this why Malfoy kept trying to talk to me? Because my own Parents are now filthy Death-Eaters?!”
Your Mother stood up too, lifting your chin up to strike you, the breath leaving your body as your eyes filled with tears.
“You will not talk to me like that in my own home. Lucius is a wonderful man, and we had hoped you both would find your way to each other. The Potter’s boy is quite laughable, and we figured it would resolve itself on its own. Clearly we were wrong and you live in your Hogwarts fantasy world still. You will be listening to me, I just thought I would try and be nice. It seems you needed to learn the hard way. This is not up for debate.”
With those words she left swiftly, leaving you in a puddle of your own tears and questions.
                                  ╚═━────━▒ ۞ ▒━────━═╝
James Potter was the love of your life, that you knew.
Ever since you sat down beside him at the Gryffindor table at eleven you knew he would be it for you. A lopsided grin and tousled hair, that was your James.
As time wore on you both just fell together. As you both grew, so did the love you share. Setting your relationship in stone was never important, you were James and Y/N, that’s how it always was.
Until one day in 6th year, when Lucius Malfoy approached you, the same smirk he always wore embedded in his face.
“What do you want?” Your tongue had always been sharp, especially for such a bully as he was.
“Wait to go tell him off love!” James was laughing, getting Sirius and Peter to join in on his laughter as you rejected Malfoy.
Suddenly his hand brushed the hair from your face, his smirk softening,
“Little Lamb caught in the crossfire. I see I’m bothering, I was just hoping you’d accompany me to dinner with my family one night?”
You sneered, throwing daggers at him, “Never in a million years.”
“My dear y/n, sometimes words have a way of backfiring on us.” He always acted as if he had something over you, but his posture quickly straightened back up and his hand left your proximity,
“Have a good night Y/Ns, enjoy your time.”
With that he was gone and you were confused. When you looked up, James was gone, the two boys shrugging as Remus pointed to the exit.
You went to search for James, the pit of despair in your stomach growing with every step you took.
“James Fleamont Potter if you don’t come here!” You yelled, exasperatedly, throwing your arms up in a huff.
“Why did you talk to him?!” It was less of a question, more of an angry accusation.
“James what?” you were confused now, who was he talking about?
“Malfoy! You spoke to him for more time than we agreed on talking to stupid Pure-blood Supremacists! We all agreed 5 minutes or less, no more.” His arms crossed over his chest as you stared in disbelief.
“James what? Did you not listen to the conversation? He was trying to ask me out and I said no.” James grinded your gears more than anyone else you knew, his face turning with thoughts.
“Be my Girlfriend.” He spoke casually now, his shoulders dropping all of the anger he had, his expression softening.
“Wait what?” You sighed in disbelief,
“You heard me. Nobody, especially not Pureblood scum will ask you out if you’re officially my Girlfriend. I originally assumed I didn’t have to ask you out, since everyone knows we're together.” That was the first you’d heard of it.
“Do you need me to spell it out l/n?” As he spoke his next sentence he got closer with every step,
“Be.My.Girlfriend.”
“I was jealous of Malfoy, and I know we're already together, I mean Godric was practically married, but I got so angry seeing him with you, and I want to be with you, officially, right now. You’re my girl, and I want everyone to know officially.”
Your heart fluttered at his words, nodding. You had been so upset with him, for no reason, but it had all melted away with the simple question of being his. You were his, you wanted to be his.
“Of course. I was waiting.” You closed the space between the both of you, your lips on his as you pulled James your boyfriend deeply into the kiss.
                                 ╚═━────━▒ ۞ ▒━────━═╝
Dorcas Meadows, Marlene McKinnon, Lily Evans, Remus Lupin, Alice Fortescue, Frank Longbottom, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black, you and James Potter were on your summer vacation.
Driving down the winding roads in one car with a nifty enlarging spell as your friends argued over the muggle music played while you and James sang along to it all.
He had insisted on driving, you in the passenger seat beside him, holding onto his free hand. All you could do was smile as you took him in, the love of your life.
You feel sick most of the time, looking at all of your Best friends, your scared best friends, the ones who fear for their life and fear for the future, and you feel sick. There was a war bubbling, almost ready to explode.
None of them knew the secret you were keeping. They all kept James’ secret though.
It had been two weeks of non stop traveling and fun for all of you, the journey ending in one last night in the middle of a field, a campfire with all of your friends around it. A few bottles of champagne shared amongst all of you.
It had to be around midnight when James stood up tipsily, holding out his hand to you, that same grin on his face as he begged you to dance.
So you took his hand, your hands taking his as he pulled you closer, your head resting on his shoulder.
You wanted to stay like that forever, your friends laughing in the background as you danced to the sounds of crackling fire, the wind and Lily and Alice making fun of you two for being ‘disgustingly adorable!’
“I love you.”
“I know dear.”
“No I really, really love you.” His pocket was too heavy all of the sudden, as he pulled away. “Like the I love you more than I love Quidditch, and more than my Cloak which I totally used to spy on you when we were in 5th year.”
Your eyes went wide as you looked at him, what in Godric’s name was he doing?
“James what?”
“Let me speak woman! I love you.”
“James I know that but what are you talking abou-” He interrupted you, something he was notorious for. As your heart grew heavier with anxiety, he became more confident, the champagne padding his words.
“I love you more than I love getting into trouble, and more than messing with Snape. I love you more than crunching leaves in the Fall, more than every single time I wiped a smirk off of Minnie’s face, I love you Y/N. I am completely and utterly in love with you.”
“James no, please.” Your voice was small, begging him to stop. You couldn’t take this. Your heart cracking.
He pulled out a box, shaking. Pulling it open as he dropped to a knee in the field his eyes looked up to you, a grin on his face, tears filling in his eyes.
It was his Mum’s engagement ring. Euphemia Potter’s engagement ring that had been in the family for centuries, a gorgeous mix of stones set in a thinner style band. You had admired it when you met her, a knowing smile on her face as you complimented it.
“Even if there was no war, or no bad guy, or no promise for the future I would still be here, on my knee, asking you Y/F/N to marry me. Because I know, and this is one of the only things I can be sure of, is that I love you and I will love you for, forever. The only question is, will you? Will you love me for the rest of your days?”
You wanted to scream yes, to pull him up and kiss him until your lips were blue, hear all of your friends whoop and cheer for the two of you, but you dropped his hand, the tears falling from your face.

Blushing in His Colours, Chapter 4
TITLE: Blushing in His Colours CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 4 AUTHOR: fanficshiddles ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine Loki being a Daddy Dom, his adores and loves his little, worships the ground she walks on. She has vaginismus, but he couldn’t be more supportive with her. RATING: M
It had been a few days since Loki’s discovery.
And he had a plan.
He’d tried a few different tactics over the last few days. The one that got him best results was when he asked Mia to hand him something in the lab, she did it instantly without question. He then let Good girl slip instead of a thank you. It had the desired effect, he thought her entire face was going to go up in flames. She was very giddy and flustered.
So she definitely has a praise kink. That he was certain of. She was a pleaser.
But his plan, he was putting into motion tonight. He’d asked her to another date night, but to wear her comfiest pyjamas. She was highly confused, but was pretty excited none the less.
He went to her room and knocked, smiling when he heard her rushing over to the door.
When she opened it, Loki was pleased to see she was in pyjamas already. They were Minnie Mouse pyjamas. She sheepishly looked down at herself. ‘Sorry… I don’t really have, uhm, sexy kind of Pyjamas.’
Loki smiled and picked up her hand, bringing it up to his lips he kissed the back of it. ‘You look beautiful, darling. Never apologise for wearing whatever you want to.’
There was that delightful blush that graced her cheeks, that he loved so much on her.
‘Are you ready?’ He asked with a grin.
She nodded. ‘I’m really intrigued to see what you’ve got planned.’
Loki was wearing comfortable clothing too. Leather trousers with a green Asgardian tunic type of top. But Mia always thought he looked amazing, he could probably wear a bin bag and still look handsome.
First stop was the kitchen, Loki had a mini buffet type of set up going on. But it was bowls of popcorn, nachos and chocolate. He grabbed a tray and put it all on, then motioned for Mia to follow him as he headed to the lifts.
Mia raised an eyebrow as she followed him. ‘Where are we going?’ She asked, getting into the lift with him.
He didn’t say anything, just grinned. They stopped a few floors down, Loki then led the way to the library. It all made sense when they entered.
Loki had borrowed Tony’s projector and had set up a film to play on the empty wall near the back of the library. He’d also taken lots of cushions and blankets for them to sit or lie down on and keep cosy. Some candles were lit, giving the room a lovely calming and romantic vibe.
‘Oh wow. Loki, this is amazing.’ Mia said excitedly.
‘I’m glad you think so. It took a lot of persuading to make sure the others would stay out of the way for the night.’ Loki said with a frown.
‘What kind of persuading?’ Mia asked, curious.
‘I had to say please to Stark.’ Loki cringed, making Mia burst out laughing.
‘Well, it certainly seems worth it.’ Mia grinned.
Loki and Mia got comfortable on the cushions, Loki used his Seidr to make them all into a bed type of shape with a bit at the back for them to lean against comfortably. He pulled a big blanket over the both them, he was absolutely delighted when she snuggled right in against his side.
‘What film are we watching?’ She asked when Loki used his Seidr to have the tray of food hover just on front of them, but not blocking the view, to save having to get a table over.
Loki didn’t reply, just grinned as he grabbed the remote and started the movie up. Mia was shocked when Frozen Two started.
‘Really? I didn’t think you would be a Disney fan? We can watch something you like.’ Mia suggested as she turned to face him more.
‘Not at all. I remember over hearing you speaking to Wanda about wanting to see it when it’s out.’ Loki smiled.
Mia then frowned. ‘It’s not even out in cinemas here yet. How did you… Wait, did you get Bruce to get it for you?’ She asked knowingly.
Loki’s grin grew even larger and he wiggled his eyebrows. ‘Perhaps… I have my ways. Now shhh, it’s starting.’ Loki put his arm around her and pulled her into him again.
She was secretly so delighted that he’d managed to get the film. She had been desperate to see it. And what could be better, snuggled up comfortably with Loki? Nothing could be better, that was for sure.
Mia was totally engrossed in the film, she almost missed her mouth a few times while eating. Eyes glued to the screen.
Loki couldn’t resist stroking her hair, letting his fingers slide through her locks. It was soothing for both of them. Perhaps too soothing for Mia, she could feel herself slipping into little space. Something she didn’t really want to do on front of Loki, not wanting to freak him out.
But it was difficult, he was pressing all the right buttons.
It became even worse for Mia when he ended up gently pulling her onto his lap. She blushed hard, but kept her eyes on the movie, leaning back against him as she curled up comfortably.
Loki slid his hand under her pyjama top and started stroking her back softly, she squirmed and giggled when he went too far round to her sides, making him smirk. ‘Ticklish?’ He grinned, pressing his lips to the top of her head.
She didn’t reply, just whined a little and shuffled slightly on his lap.
His touch against her back felt so heavenly, she was slipping hard. Loki noticed her take the tips of a bit of her hair into her mouth and he smiled. He hadn’t seen her do that before, but he had a feeling it was something she did in little space…
Once the film was finished, Loki didn’t let go of her. He never wanted to let go of her, actually. He kept stroking her back and nuzzling into her hair.
But Mia suddenly snapped out of it, realising how she was acting. She struggled to get off his lap, Loki reluctantly let her go.
‘I’m sorry… I…’
‘Whatever for?’ Loki frowned as she moved away from him and sat up on her knees, looking scared.
But she didn’t answer, just looked really scared still. So Loki decided to take a chance.
‘You’re a little, aren’t you?’
Her eyes widened at that, but he noticed her shoulders relax a tiny bit. ‘You… what? How did you…’
‘I will be completely honest here… I came across a Daddy Dom and little relationship online, after having… suspicions. And I felt that you just seemed to fit being a little. So I may have been trying to coax it out of you.’ He said a little sheepishly.
‘Wha… What? Why though? I mean… Are you…’
‘A Daddy?’ Loki finished for her.
She nodded, still keeping a little distance.
Loki smiled. ‘I had never thought about it before, but when I read up on it, I found myself really wanting to be your Daddy.’ He admitted. ‘I seem to fit some of the personality traits and it was very appealing, I must say. Even though I had never thought about it before.’
Mia put her face into her hands and rubbed her face a few times before looking at him again.
‘Are you serious? I mean… I didn’t expect… This.’
Loki reached out and took hold of her hands, so she couldn’t hide her face again.
‘All I am asking, is that you think about it. You are safe with me, Mia. If you want to go into little space with me, you can. And I would love to be able to look after and spoil you.’ He smiled and rubbed the back of her hands.
He was slightly confused as to why she still looked so worried.
‘Have I got this all wrong?’ He asked, frowning. It was his turn to be looking genuinely worried.
‘No… not at all… I… I want this more than anything. From the moment I met you I found you to be… Daddy material.’ She said quietly.
Loki let go of her hands and stroked her cheek gently.
‘So what’s got you so scared, pet?’ He asked quietly.
She looked down and started fiddling with the bottom of her pyjama top. ‘I uhm… There’s something else you should know before you decide if you do want to… Be with me. It wouldn’t be fair not telling you…’
‘What is it?’ He asked, tipping her chin up.
She took a deep breath before answering. ‘I’ve got vaginismus.’
Mia felt like time was stood still as she waited for Loki’s reaction. Expecting him to get up and walk out.
But to her surprise, there was no change in his facial expressions.
‘Why would that make me not want to be with you?’ Loki asked, confused as he took her hands again.
Now it was Mia’s turn to look confused. ‘Do… Do you know what it is?’
‘I do.’ Loki nodded. ‘It doesn’t change who you are, darling.’
Mia couldn’t help but let out a small sob, surprising Loki. ‘Hey, shhh. It’s ok, come here.’ He pulled her back onto his lap, so she was straddling him with her legs at either side of his thighs, into his embrace. He rocked her back and fore as she buried her face into his neck.
‘I’m sorry… I just… The last guy I dated couldn’t get away fast enough, thinking it was some kind of disease he could catch. And the guy before him who I had been seeing for a while, got fed up that he couldn’t… penetrate me. No matter how much we tried, it was like there was a literal road block down there.’ She said openly, leaning back slightly as Loki cradled the back of her head.
‘Well in that case they don’t deserve you. There is so much more to relationships than penetrative sex. SO much more.’ He wiped her tears off her cheeks with his thumbs and then cupped her face as he leaned in to press his forehead against hers.
‘Not that we would be jumping into anything sexually so soon, but if I may ask, have you been to the doctors about it?’
‘Yeah. It seems to be more psychological than anything else we’ve decided… I uhm, can get one finger in but it took a long time… and I have a small dildo that I try with but it takes a long time to use and I’ve only ever managed twice, often by the time I get to the stage where I might be able to take it, I’m too tired and just give up. It’s like I just can’t relax down there enough, even though I know it doesn’t hurt as such if I am properly ready. But I think I freaked myself out a bit last time I got it in, when I started moving it, it was a little sore and uncomfortable then I struggled getting the damn thing out and really panicked.’ She was blushing hard while explaining to Loki, but she wanted him to know exactly what he was getting into. Or more… what he wouldn’t be getting into, so to say.
‘Well that’s good you’ve made progress yourself, though. You can do it, it can happen, it just takes time… Mia, even if we could never have penetrative sex, that doesn’t change the way I feel about you. I don’t know in this early stage if anything will blossom between us, although I certainly hope it does, but I really want to try, darling.’
Mia felt like crying again in utter relief and happiness. But Loki could tell there was still something niggling.
‘Speak to me, sweetling.’ He whispered, smoothing a hand through her hair.
‘I just… I’ve never had a Daddy before. I’ve always dreamed and fantasised of having one and having kinky fun with him. Being able to just be taken against a wall or bent over the sofa and taken that way. But that can’t happen for me, I don’t even know if normal sex will ever be able to happen for me!’
‘Shhh, calm down. It’s ok.’ Loki soothed. ‘Well, there are ways to help your body accustom to penetration. And even once that happens, while you may never be able to have sudden-little-warning-sex, not many can without some foreplay, there are still ways to make fantasies come true.’ He purred, winking at her.
‘Really?’
‘Of course there is. But you know, there are millions of ways to have kinky fun, for the both of us, without the normal cock into vagina scenario, you know.’ He smirked, making her giggle.
‘Just don’t over think it, don’t worry about something that doesn’t necessarily even need to happen.’
‘But I do want it to happen!’ Mia said quickly.
Loki smiled and trailed his fingers down the side of her face. ‘I know you do. But it will take time, trust and a lot of patience. It won’t be something that can just happen overnight. But if you want that to be your end goal, we can work towards it. Slowly. But just have some fun, is the main thing.’
‘I have done sexual stuff before. And I do enjoy it all, so it’s not like I just don’t want to do anything like that. Because I do. So much.’ She was blushing again.
Loki chuckled and kissed her forehead. ‘Just because you have vaginismus doesn’t mean you can’t love other things to do with sex. Stop worrying.’
She leaned into him again and hid her face against his neck. He slid his hand up and down her back soothingly. ‘I get the feeling rule number one will be not to overthink this.’ He rumbled.
Mia shot back a bit, looking at him with wide eyes. ‘Rules?’ She squeaked.
‘Of course. Why, you didn’t think just because I am new to this you would get out of not having rules, did you?’ He smirked.
Mia’s mouth parted but nothing came out, making Loki chuckle.
‘You did!’ He smirked, sliding his hands under her top and tickling over her back.
She squealed and tried to move away from the tickling but that just made her move closer into Loki’s body, thus trapping her as his fingers tickled down her sides, making her laugh as she squirmed to try and get away.
He stopped and just held her against him, his chin on top of her head. ‘There will be consequences if you break a rule, sweetheart. But we can go over rules another day, once you’ve had time to think it all through.’ He kissed the top of her head as he felt her relaxing into him completely.
Loki had a feeling she wasn’t going to need time to think anything through.
Or he certainly hoped not anyway.

n.jm: where are you?
Tumblr media
summary: jaemin is just a little (very) misunderstood
pairing: highschool!fboi!jaemin x fem!reader
note: gUESS WHOSE BACK IN TOWN?!?!?!? y’all already know the routine: poor grammar, crackheads, a fuck ton of cursing i think, and drug references (*coughs* stoner-boi!haechan *coughs*). this isn’t the last part so theres def gonna be a part three, i just have too much to write for jaemin and i don’t wanna rush things too much, but i also don’t wanna leave you all hanging. so enjoy. but also make sure to read part one first so you can be in the know~
“because she knew that i was in love with you”
it took you a good m i n u t e to register jaemin’s words, not that you even comprehended the weight of his words either.
you didn’t know how to respond so like a normal person you started laughing awkwardly to ease the tension, “you’re joking right?”
he hAD to be bc there was no way in hell that the biggest fuckboy of the whole school, na jaemin once harbored a one-sided love for you, right?
a small flash of hurt flashed across jaemin’s eyes that you couldn’t catch since his whole demeanor immediately brighten u again and one of his signature playful smiles on was back on his face.
.“i can’t ever fool you can i?” he chuckled shaking his head.
“no but seriously, why didn’t you go to hoco sophomore year? you were supposed to be hoco royalty with ella,” you picked at the melting ice cream.
jaemin shrugged, “maybe i just didn’t feel like it.”
he seems so nonchalant on the outside, but on the inside, na jaemin is thinking of 1001 ways to disappear off the face of the earth.
what did he expect in the first place? that you would just accept his belated confession that quickly?
but he’s now big s a d, but he ain't going let that show. no, no, no, it ruins his go-with-the-flow personality and the “playboy” role everyone put him in.
:(
“do you have something to do after school tomorrow?” jaemin asked once the two had finished your sundae and the two of you were waiting for your ride to come to pick you up.
you shook your head at his question, knowing that haechan would mostly like ditch your afterschool hang out to get high with mark or chill at that one girl's house
“why?” you asked.
“how about we hang out then?” jaemin asked so casually. he was just that good at hiding his real feels
“can i ask why you’re suddenly trying to hang out with me more often? its weird” you say back, not like the feeling that was bubbling in your throat. was he trying to mess around with you? did he run out of girls to play with?
jaemin pouted slightly, ‘i’m simply trying to reconnect with my old friend. besides, i need help with the prom decorations and since you already finished it, you should know how to do them quickly.”
“i’ll see” is all you say.
and you leave, not knowing what you did to his poor little heart.
poor jaemin got ghosted bc you never reached out to him in the days to follow to “hang out”. the two of you would make eye contact at school, but you always quickly looked away.
:( x 10
it wasn’t that jaemin was shock by your cold treatment, but he was holding onto the hope that you didn’t see him as na jaemin the resident fuckboi, but as na jaemin the boy who was once the prince to your little princess. except jaemin knew very well that this isn’t a fairy tale, just cruel reality.
life is a little bitch and it was messing him the fuck up!
however, na jaemin is a coward and he knows this.
which is why he feels more comfortable when he’s surrounded by others wearing the mask that was carefully crafted for him than when he’s all by himself.
bc when’s he completely alone, when no one is around, he’s left with no one but himself.
the one person he hates the most in the world.
when did it begin?
when did he care more about what others think than what he thought? when did he begin to follow the crowd?
when did he lose himself?
maybe it began around sophomore year, when he first agreed to date ella. something that he wouldn’t have agreed to if it weren’t for you asking that of him.
he could never say no to you. the one who held his heart in the palm of his hands.
did he ever like ella?
he tried to, but it was kinda hard when the only reason why he said yes to her confession was to make you happy. he remembered the way your eyes lit up in happiness as he and ella broke the news to you
you looked like the happiest girl in the world and he felt his heart race at the sight, but not when ella confess to him.
it was useless pining, he knew that. you only saw him as a close friend and especially now that he was with your bestfriend.
that was why he tried soooooo hard to get himself to feel things for ella.
he spent most of his time with her, even ditching his homie student-athlete!jeno (who he often found himself feeling jealous of when he found out that jeno crashed at your house to have a movie marathon with you multiple times)
but he just couldn’t feel anything for ella. so he began to lie.
the first time he lied, it ate him up inside. the simple three words, eight letters phrase was hard to say when you don’t actually mean it.
but as jaemin found himself repeating the lie over and over again, the guilt that was always lingering in the back of his mind slowly went away until he had gotten used to it.
it became natural for him to lie.
to everyone and to himself
people always told him that it must be nice having a face like his, but every time he looked in the mirror, he felt nothing but hatred for the person staring back at him.
at school, he did nothing but play the charming guy that everyone saw him as. he did things that would please the crowd and he felt good when they responded the way he wanted. he overlooked things that he once thought was wrong just to be in good graces with the others.
when donghyuck had his little altercation with jeno, jaemin never felt more jealous in his life. donghyuck chose to be himself, he broke free of the mold that everyone fit him in. he had the courage that jaemin doesn’t
if someone told him to take off his persona, he wouldn’t know what to do. he’s lived this way for so long that he had forgotten who he really was. what he really wanted in life. what truly made him happy.
was he even happy? jaemin didn’t know.
which is why he didn’t know what to do when he overheard ella’s conversation with one of her other friends.
“do we really have to invite y/n too? i don’t want her do come with us to hoco. she’s such a party pooper.”
“i don’t want to either, but i’m only keeping her around because she’s the reason why i’m with jaemin in the first place.”
“isn’t weird that the two of them have been close friends for a while and she hasn’t had any feeling for him?”
“she did,” he hears ella admit. “until i told her that i liked jaemin and then she totally dropped him like that for me.”
“she’s kind of annoying though, always hanging around the two of you. she’s kinda clingy too, no one even likes her in our group.”
“just deal with her for now and we can ice her out later.”
FAKE BITCHES
anyways, jaemin didn’t know what to do so he walked away and pretended that he didn’t hear the conversation. but there's only so much he can just ignore, and this is one of them.
the familiar guilt comes crawling up every time he sees you, smiling with the people that called themselves your “friends”.
it doesn’t take long for jaemin to come to the realization that he’s surrounded by liars. and enough is enough.
well, he still has an image to maintain.
so he chose to break up with ella and actually tell the truth for once, but only to her. to be honest, the truth was kinda forced to come out by itself.
“what do you mean that you’re not going?” he hears ella’s frantic voice and the music playing in the background. maybe it wasn’t a good idea to do the breaking up part the night of homecoming.
good work, jaemin.
“i don’t think that this is going to work between us. i’m sorry”
was he really?
“but you said that you loved me!”
that was just a lie. he thought to himself. “i just don’t feel the same anymore, ella, please understand.” i never did.
“it’s because of her isn’t it? you’ve been in love with y/n this whole time haven’t you?” and jaemin’s blood runs cold.
the music was gone, so ella must have gone to a more quieter, private place.
“i’m not blind jaemin. the way you looked at her, the way you always find yourself next to her; i saw it all,” ella begins “i knew ever since you said yes to me.”
“then why didn’t you say anything? you just let me lie to you like that?”
“lying is the best solution, jaemin, you should know that the best.”
lying is bad kids, don’t do - admin minnie
jaemin could already feel the backlash he was going to receive. he spent the entire hoco night at home preparing himself for the shit that was going to go down the next day at school.
except nothing happened to him.
you had received the hatred, the eyeing, the whispers. you were the one that was iced out, outcasted, not jaemin.
jaemin was too afraid for the same thing happening to him, so he turned his head the other way.
“i just don’t understand why everyone is giving y/n the silent treatment. why are they mad at her? what did she do?” jaemin shrugs at jeno’s angry rant.
jeno had the right to be mad, you were dragged in to be jaemin’s scapegoat.
“and why did you break up with ella anyways? i thought everything was going good?”
“i was bored.”
it was pure irony and the biggest bitch slap in jaemin’s face that you had befriended lee donghyuck, the one person that he envied so wholeheartedly.
jaemin couldn’t do anything, no, he didn’t want to do anything he didn’t want to step out of the little safety persona that he created for himself. he didn’t want to lose all the people that surrounded him. he doesn’t want to be alone.
he hates being alone.
he’ll much rather take on the role of the fuckboy that he hates so much if that meant that people would still stick around him.
which brings him to his current dilemma
“i don’t see why you don’t just put up the image and just go with ella to hoco,” art-hoe!renjun says as the two of them walk to english “the two of you are both going to be king and queen anyways, just go.”
“maybe,” jaemin says, eliciting in a pointed glare from renjun
“you can’t just ditch prom just because of her, this the last year and are you really going to go down as the prom king that didn’t show up to prom?”
“i won’t win for sure, so there's really no point in me going,” jaemin replies
renjun rolls his eyes, and he taps a random passing student on the shoulder, “who do you think is going to win prom royalty this year?” he asks the stranger.
without missing a beat, the student replies, “jaemin and ella, why?”
and renjun’s face is the exact embodiment of i-told-you-so
instead of that motivating jaemin to actually go, it actually made him WANT to skip out on the event even more
“y/n ask to me to ask you if you gave ella all of the decorations for prom or something like that,” jeno tells him at lunch, causing jaemin’s eyes to drift over to you and haechan.
he wonders what the two of you are talking about that has you smiling that hard. he wonders what haechan has that he doesn't.
maybe its his natural-born charisma? not the artificial type that jaemin has mastered the act of.
“earth to jaemin,” jeno waves a hand in front of his friend’s face.
“sorry, yeah, i’m turning it in after school,” he replies, eyes lingering on you for one more second before focusing on the food on his tray, “besides, she could have asked me directly.”
“she had dinner at my house last night,” jeno replies, “what’s got your panties in a twist anyway?”
“not all of us is about to confess our feelings to our puppy crush, lover boy,” renjun pipes in.
jeno’s ears turn a tinge of pink, but jaemin wasn't focused on that.
and jeno might be a bit slow academically, but jaemin is his best buddy, his platonic soulmate.something was up.
“you have three seconds to spill before i will actually expose where you were hoco sophomore year to y/n” jeno threatens
“tell her, it’s not going to make a difference anyways,” jaemin pokes at his food “she has no interest in me what’s so over. i’m just another one of those fuckboys in her eyes.”
jeno and renjun share a look, before renjun decides to break the news to jaemin
“you haven’t been talking to her lately right?” renjun starts and jaemin nods
“the last time we talk was two weeks ago,” jaemin replies “she doesn’t have any other reason to interact with me like she does with jeno”
“before we continue with this conversation, can the green-eyed monster please leave the room?” renjun takes a small jab at jaemin.
“i’m not jealous,” jaemin looks up with an irked glare at renjun.
“then did you really need to mention jeno?” renjun returns the look with an annoyed expression of his own
jaemin scoffs, “you don’t understand, so don’t say anything,”
“tell me what i don’t understand then? because right now i have feeling the only reason you’re so pent up and annoyed is that you’re jealous, jaemin.”
“shut up,” jaemin snaps. “i’m not jealous.”
smiley and easy-going jaemin is gone out the door. everything coming out of renjun’s mouth is making him angrier and angrier and jaemin didn’t even know why.
renjun was speaking the truth. jaemin was jealous, but was he going to admit that?
nope
“it’s okay to be jealous,” jeno says, meaning to ease the slowly growing tension, but jeno’s attempts to mediate the conversation made jaemin even madder.
“can the two get the fuck off my case and leave me alone? i’m not jealous so stop acting like you know how i feel,” jaemin clenches his jaw “it’s really fucking annoying.”
“oh really now?” renjun fires back “it’s really fucking annoying how you expect the two of us to have your back, which we always do, and be fully okay with you going around town acting like a man whore and then being prissy about how the girl you’re interested in this time isn’t interested in you. this isn’t some type of cliche teen romance movie jaemin, grow a pair and deal with it.”
“so you think i’m a man whore too?” jaemin says sarcastically, rolling his eyes, “nice to know that my best friends think so highly of me.”
“jaemin, you know he doesn’t mean it like that,” jeno says.
“then what? it seems to me that you guys have been having a blast talking behind my back and lying about it to my face.”
“when did we say that?” jeno’s eyebrows furrow.
“you don’t need to say it for me to know,” jaemin spits “it’s written all over your faces.”
“i’m done,” renjun stands up, “when you’re ready to grow the fuck up and stop being a fucking dick bag, then find me.”
jaemin doesn’t even bother watching renjun leaving the table, anger was still consuming him. was it anger or frustration?
there was scream lodged in his throat that he wanted to release to the world. a pained scream of helplessness.
“hey jaemin,” jeno has a hard look on his face. he too stands up and leaves with some hard-hitting words, “learn to get over that ridiculously big ego of yours. not everything is about you.”
and jaemin is left at the lunch table
alone
fuck, he thinks to himself. fuck everything.
yeah, no way in hell was jaemin going to prom. no fucking way.
“looks like there’s trouble in paradise,” haechan gestures with his head to the table, near the center.
jaemin’s table, except, it’s literally only jaemin sitting there.
out of the corner of your eyes, you could see and angry renjun followed by an equally ticked of jeno stalking off.
“looks like the pretty boy is left by himself,” haechan remarks. “i wonder what happened?
“why are you saying that like you know what just went down?” you squint your eyes at the boy, who merely shrugs.
“spill”
“give me fifty bucks.”
“fuck off”
not long after, you hear a loud slam. jaemin stands up, his eyes quickly met yours and he looked away, going with haste out the cafeteria’s doors.
and you’re left wondering what the fuck went down at the norenmin table.
“okay, i’m done with all the fucking vague answers,” you stare down haechan, trying to intimidate an answer out of the stoner.
“why the fuck did jaemin not go to homecoming sophomore year and do not give me a smartass answer because i will without a doubt flush your weed stash down the drain and break your juul pens to bits. now, spill.”
damn, y/n going in for the kill
haechan hesitates before a sigh leaves his lips, “i don’t pride myself on much other than my ridiculously good looks and my ability to bargain good weed deals, but long long before i became so awesome-”
“cut to the chase”
“chill, bitch, i was getting there. anyways, i was basically jaemin’s confide,” haechan admits. “that’s why he’s so awkward around me, i basically know all of his personal secrets and all that jazz.”
and you’re shocked bc haechan is really reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllly petty with both of the ts bolded, and he has not once let any private info slip about jaemin, like the kind of deep shit, you’d write in your diaries.
not once sober or faded or drunk. the loud ass himself kept his lips seals which is an incredible feat already.
“don’t look at me like that, i’m a dick, but i’m not that big of dick,” haechan mutters “we all have things we don’t want the world to know “
“okay i won’t question that, but why didn’t he just go? i mean it’s just a school dance, right? its not that big of deal,” you don’t understand the extreme mystery or drama around jaemin’s non-appearance.
haechan shakes his head, “jaemin isn’t a simple as people make him out as, sure he fucks around with girls a lot, but like me, he wasn’t always like that.”
you nod in understanding, agreeing with the point haechan made
jaemin for sure wasn’t the same person that you knew right now. he was always a sweet boy with sweet words, but before high school, he never went around messing around with other girls
“the only choice that jaemin ever made his sophomore year that was his actual choice for his own self was to not go to homecoming, for a good reason too”
“can you be a little bit more detailed?” you urged again, curiosity flowing through you.
“he didn't go because for once he didn't want to be associated with that crowd, he didn't want to be surrounded by people who hardly gave a damn how he felt, only who he was”
haechan’s words reside in you for the longest time and you finally got a glimpse of what your normally stoned friend meant through an accidental eavesdrop of a conversation
“im not going ella, it's final,” jaemin’s voice has no trace of the playful, flirty tone it usually held. he was stern and hard with his words.
“are you really going to embarrass me again, jae?” ella sounded desperate “its just one dance. all you have to do is stand by my side and smile until we get those stupid crowns and take yearbook pictures”
“if you think they’re stupid crowns then why are you making me go?” jaemin argues back.
“you should be glad that i even helped you with your campaign. why else do you think everyone is voting for you?”
and jaemin’s voice goes to a lower, warning tone, “i’ve never ask to be nominated for royalty much less fucking prom king. i don't care what you or anyone has to say, i’m not fucking going to prom.”
your eyes meet jaemin’s as he walks past the aisle you were standing at (totally not peeping into his convo)
he has an emotionless face on and doesn't say anything as he leaves ella quickly follows but stops when she sees you.
“forget everything you heard, he’s going to prom!”
jokes on you ella, bc hes not going anywhere
guess who joined the i’m-ditching-school-because-i’m-an-emotional-wreck club!!
the next three days were hectic at school, everyone was excited for the big dance on saturday. there were last-minute promposals and girls were showing off their sparkly, expensive dresses to each other.
however, the one person that was missing and had you looking for all week was, na jaemin.
where the fuck was he now?
“have you seen jaemin? i haven't seen him at school lately,” you asked jeno, who was sitting in the library diligently waiting for his tutor/crush to arrive.
the number of times you received an “idk” from one of jaemin’s other friends was ridiculous and it was like they didn’t even care that he skipped school for three days or where he was.
jaemin might be a bit on the wild side, but he’s not the type to completely ditch school for three whole days straight. that was haechan’s job.
the only people you could rely on was jeno and renjun, but the latter was more agitated at jaemin than jeno was, so you figured that the athlete was the safer option.
“i have an idea of where he is, but i have a feeling he doesn't want to see anyone, especially today,” jeno replies. news of the norenmin argument traveled quickly around the school along with the fact that jaemin had rejected ella’s prom request. there were some rumors that were being spread about the male and they weren’t all that nice.
you knew deep inside that the two of them weren’t actually mad at jaemin, they (especially jeno) was just frustrated.
“can you slide the address though?” you asked, sliding up next to him
“why would i do that?”
“because you owe me a solid”
truthfully, you didn’t know what you were going to do with jaemin’s address and it’s been weighing you down the whole day.
“you going to prom?” haechan slides into the seat next to you. for once, there were no sunglasses covering his eyes.
you shook your head,” i don’t have anyone to go with.”
“you should have just asked mark to go with you,” haechan pointed out to which you gagged loudly.
“as if i would bring an actual twelve-year-old boy to prom, he’ll probably say let’s get it every two seconds and then my hand might just actually slip and punch his face or dunk his head into the disgusting kool-aid punch..”
“damn, and i thought i hated him.”
you rolled your eyes, “what about you? did you plan to confess to mina yet?”
“i was thinking about going old school and do one of those typical high school romeo and juliet scenes,” haechan said smugly. “might throw a shoe or two if i have to.”
you shake your head in disbelief, “be civil at least.”
“but i also can’t leave my main bitch alone for prom night so why don’t go to prom or hang out with the biggest thot in town?” haechan suggested.
“haechan, ten graduated high school like 3 years ago. i doubt he wants to spend his free time on a saturday night at a high school dance with me.”
facepalm.
“i’m not talking about that ultimate thot.”
“jungwoo is also in college.”
another fat facepalm.
“honestly, i thought you had at least ONE functioning brain cell,” haechan groaned “i’m talking about na jaemin.”
“what do you want me to do with him? the two of us aren’t exactly friends,” you mumble.
“exactly, use this time to spend some time with him or something. get closer or get laid, i don’t care, just don’t be a loner tomorrow,” haechan replies. “i can’t be friends with a lameo.”
“he hasn’t shown up for school in like three days and tomorrow is prom night,” you argue “besides, i don’t know where he’s even at.”
“that’s the fattest lie i have ever heard leave your mouth and you told mr. moon that his moon tie looked good on him. i know for a fact that you have his address saved on your phone, which is kinda creepy now that i think about it, but that’s beside the point.”
“why do you care so much? i thought you hated him,” you eyed haechan weirdly.
“because that moron needs someone to help him out and whose more suited for the job herself than the girl that was hopelessly in love with him all sophomore year.”
you smack his arm,”i should have never trusted you with my diary. besides, i don’t like him like that anymore.”
“then why do you worry about him so much?” haechan pointed out. ‘why did you go to jeno for jaemin’s whereabouts if you supposedly didn’t like him anymore.”
“caring about someone is different from liking them,” you chided him “you should know best since it took you months to realize that you were in love with mina.”
“stfu i’m supposed to be the wise teacher and you’re the young grasshopper.” haechan shushed you with a finger which you swatted away.
“i’m not joking around though, just go see what’s up,” haechan nudged you. “trust me, it’s worth it.”
“wow did love turn the hardest bitch in town, soft?”
“you know, i might actually just push you off stoner’s cliff one day when you’re not looking,” haechan narrowed his eyes at you.
“lol, as if i haven’t noticed that you haven’t been getting high since mina left your pathetic ass,” you pointed out.
and haechan h i s s e s.
but your stoner friend did have a point and you decide to listen to his advice for the first time in your life.
letting out a nervous breath, you rang the doorbell, a plastic bag full of junk food in your other hand. it was currently 8 pm and prom had already started. jaemin’s car was parked in the driveway, proving that he really didn’t go to prom.
“what are you doing here?” were the first words out of jaemin’s mouth when he saw you.
you raised the bag full of snacks, “do you wanna have that hang out now?”
there's a nervous feeling in your stomach, bc you don’t know if jaemin was going to reject you or not. he doesn’t have his usual cassanova, playful smile on. his face is completely neutral.
“don’t you have better things to do? like, go to prom?”
you awkwardly laugh, “about that, i’m not going.”
“why?”
“why aren’t you going?” you countered.
fair enough, jaemin relents and moves aside to let you in. there’s some lo-fi music playing in the background and a couple of books and paper strewn about the living room floor.
“my parents are on a business trip, so it’s just me,” jaemin informs you.
“cool,” you internally smack yourself bc jaemin didn’t really seem happy with ur sudden appearance. “were you just doing ur homework?”
“yeah, i have nothing else to do,” he says, cleaning up the area for u to sit. you sit down carefully and placed the bag of snacks at the base of your feet.
“did you want anything to drink?” jaemin moved to go into the kitchen. you shook your head but jaemin still pulled out two water bottles from the fridge. (save the turtles)
you look around the house, taking in the family portraits and the minimal home decor. you’ve only been to jaemin’s house a handful of times as a kid, and a lot has changed in those past few years, but some things stayed the same. on the fireplace mantle, there was a framed picture of norenminhyuck smiling with the brightest grins.
“jeno gave me crap for weeks for not taking down that picture of us four,” jaemin followed your gaze as places the two water bottles on the glass coffee table.
“why didn’t you take it down, then?” you curiously ask
taking a seat on the couch, jaemin shrugged, “sentimental value?”
and the two left it at that.
cue the awkward silence.....
“jaemin?”
he looks at you with a questioning glance
“why exactly did you and ella break up?”
jaemin lets out a sigh. he’s been anticipating the question but not now and definitely not your sudden appearance.
“there's no point in making excuse to you,” jaemin pauses before continuing “i never really liked her in the first place.”
and you look over in shock? bc the two of them were literally the couple of the year, a model example of a high school relationship.
“then why?”
“why did i say yes?” jaemin’s gaze was focused on you, leaving you unnerved. there was no sign of the cheeky jaemin, he looked completely serious. something no one really saw that often. “because thats what you wanted me to say.”
????????? - y/n’s mind
“jeno had told me that ella had urged you to introduce me to her and had confessed to you that she liked me. he told me you felt tasked with fulfilling her wish and took it upon your self to set the two of us up. i’m not stupid, y/n. i could tell by the way you planned double-dates with jeno and ella and i,” jaemin explained. there was slight embarassment on your side, sophomore you was not the best matchmaker. “but i only showed up for you. i could care less that ella was there, the only person that i wanted to see and impress was you.”
“i-“
“and i knew that you liked me too. i was expecting for you to confess to me when you told me to meet you behind the gym, but you let ella take the chance.”
“because she really liked you a lot, jaemin, and she was a close friend of mine”
“so you were willing to give up your happiness for someone who was using you to get to me?” jaemin asked bluntly.
you looked down at your fingers, feeling somewhat ashamed, “i was only worried about fitting in with the crowd at that time. i wanted people to like me.” you confessed. “after the whole fiasco, i learned to live for myself rather than for others, albeit with a little help from haechan.”
“you see, i wish i could be as brave as you to do that.” jaemin meekly smiles at you “because i’m still people-pleasing.”
“i only said yes to ella to make you happy but then everyone was congratulating me and there were more and more people by my side. i thought jeno, renjun, and donghyuck were enough to last me through high school, but the attention got to my head. i knew that no matter how much i hated ella, i couldn’t break up with because i thrive off the crowd she brought me. i thought that if i lie enough, i could make myself gain feelings for her. she was a kind and outgoing person, so i didn't think it would be that hard, except it never did happen,” jaemin sucked in his breath “i overheard a conversation by accident to one of her other friends and it was about you, about how they just used to you to get to me even though the knew you liked me. i knew that then i was surrounded by so many liars all with the same goal of getting in good with everyone.”
he continued on “the reason why i didn't want to go to hoco was bc i felt guilty. i didn't want to be another person that lived for the crowd and i knew that i would've sealed my future if i did go and get crowned king with ella. for once, i didn't want to be a liar. i just wanted to be myself.”
and then he bitterly chuckled to himself, “which is ironic since the next day i chased after the crowd again. i let you take the blame for me just because i was afraid of being outcasted even though it was my fault you had to suffer the consequences of my lie.”
“jaemin-“
“and then i kept pretending to be that stupid fuckboy that everyone painted me as just to be in the it-crowd or whatever. i don’t have anything special like how renjun has art and jeno has his sports, even haechan had something special like choir back in those days. i had nothing, i wasn’t known for anything and i’m still not known for anything other than being a fuckboy. i’m just na jaemin at the end of the day, talented in messing around with girls.”
“do you feel happy?” you carefully asked after jaemin finished his rant.
jaemin’s barely smiling at this point, “what do you think?”
“you know, i was never really mad about you about the whole ella situation,” you scooted closer to him on the couch. “at first, i blamed you because that was the easier option, pin the blame on someone else. until a certain someone told me to fuck what they say and live my own way.”
“haechan?”
you nodded, “he was the first person that i didn’t pretend or try to cater myself to fit his needs. we’re alike in that department, jaemin, we both want to be liked. i’m not going to lie, the first few months of being outcasted was hard on me. sometimes, i still get sad when i think about the day where everyone just abandoned me.”
“i’m sorry.”
“there’s no need to be sorry, jaemin because i can hardly care about it that much anymore. do you know why?”
jaemin shook his head ‘no’
“because i learned that being by myself isn’t that bad. we’re all scared of being lonely, it’s human nature, but our fears often cause us to forget that we still have ourselves.” you placed a hand on his shoulder “once you learn to befriend yourself, no one’s opinion will matter more than your own. learn to cater to yourself, learn to live for yourself. don’t just be you, live as you.”
“easier said than done,” the remark left jaemin’s lips bitterly, causing you to slightly frown. “it’s hard to learn to be friends with myself when i’m the person i hate the most. i hate the person who looks back at me in the mirror. i hate just hate what i’ve let myself become.”
“it’s never too late to change,” you say.
jaemin shook his head, he blinked quickly to clear his now glassy eyes, “it’s to the point where i don’t even know i am anymore.”
“you’re na jaemin,” you say with a little more force this time. you didn’t like the defeated tone that jaemin was talking in, this wasn’t the confident and every positive boy that you grew up with. this wasn’t the boy that stole your heart in the third grade and kept it till sophomore year. “the boy that never hesitates to help someone else and can light up the room with just one smile.”
“you don’t have to pity me, it was a grave i dug for myself.”
letting out a harsh sigh, you moved to take jaemin’s face into your hands, staring deep into his doe-eyed brown ones, which widened in response to your sudden action.
big moves, y/n, big moves
“i know it may be hard to see, but jaemin you’re way more than what they think of you. you can always change as long as you have the will to do so,” you wipe away a stray tear that was falling onto his cheek. jaemin didn’t even notice that he was crying. “it’s a difficult and long process, but it’ll be worth it in the end. trust me.”
“what if no one wants to be around me anymore? what if i end up alone? “ doubt filled his tone, and your eyes soften at the vulnerability of the boy. he was scared, lost, and confused.
“i’ll be with you. anywhere you’re at, i’ll be there by your side even if no one else will. you’re a precious person, you don’t deserve any less,” you smiled. “i won’t let you be alone.”
maybe jaemin was just being emotional. maybe it was the contained feelings that he held for you that was being released. maybe it was the way you looked at him with so much concern and the way you delicately held his face.
whatever motivated him to do what he was going to do next, jaemin could hardly care less.
without any hesitation, jaemin leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to your lips.
right now, jaemin didn’t feel lost or alone. you found him and he hoped that you’ll stay.

Things We Didn't Tell You...
Harry Potter- Set during the first war
Summary:  Hiding your relationship with Sirius from your brother Remus was a bad idea from day one. Now he's finding out that and other secrets that the two of you have kept.
Pairings: Sirius Black x Reader
Rating: M- for future chapters
_____
She’s off-limits! It's too dangerous.
Sirius’ eyes snapped open as Remus’ words echoed in his head. He knew that hiding his relationship with you from his friend was wrong. Remus would be furious when he found out. If he tried to kill him, Sirius wouldn’t be surprised! You were the younger sister that Remus swore to protect. Now here you were fooling around with one of his brother’s best friends.
It's because of your reputation.
Sirius thought calmly. He knew that fact perfectly well. Had it been James or Peter that wanted to be your lover, Remus may have been a bit more accepting. Sirius, no matter how much Remus cared for him, never would have gotten his friend’s approval. He was too wild, a womanizer, and too involved with the order. Sirius understood. Had the roles been reversed and he was in Remus’ shoes; Sirius would have said a big hell no but that thought alone didn’t stop him from falling in love with you.
All it took was one look from your beautiful green eyes and Sirius was hooked. He would have done anything that you asked. Roll around in a puddle of mud? Spoil you senseless? Whatever you asked was yours. That was what led to the current predicament. The two of you had been in a secret relationship for over 2 years. Both of you decided that it was best to just act as friends around the people that you cared about the most.
“Thinking about tomorrow?”
You asked, tiredly. You had woken up a few moments ago and noticed Sirius looking at the ceiling with that look. You had seen that dark expression on his face too many times in the past year.
“How could I not be? We are literally about to get our asses handed to us.”
You slowly sat up and laid your head on his shoulder. He wasn’t joking in the slightest and you knew it. You would have killed for one of his jokes at the moment.
“Maybe Remus will take it okay? He could have just been giving the ceremonial overprotective brother speech to scare any man from wanting me.”
Sirius chuckled.
“Didn’t work well, did it?”
You were relieved when Sirius smiled. He was right. It didn’t work in the slightest! Maybe, in ways, Remus’ actions drove you into Sirius’ waiting arms.
“Not really. There’s no way we can hide it anymore though. I am sick of hiding too.”
You said, sadly. 2 years of hiding had been exhausting! You hated having to “keep up appearances.” Sirius had to flirt with any woman he could find so Remus and the others wouldn’t grow suspicious. He couldn’t go from man whore to totally disinterested in the female race altogether.
Your eyes froze on the baby blanket at the foot of the bed. That was the other reason that Sirius and yourself couldn't hide any longer. Your 9-month-old daughter Demelza lay sleeping peacefully a few feet away.
None of your friends even knew of her existence. You had expertly hidden your pregnancy the whole time. No one seemed to have the foggiest idea of what was going on underneath your dresses.
Sirius had been in Ireland keeping an eye on some death eater activity when you found out about your condition. You had conned the others into thinking that you were going to France when in fact you were going to Ireland. Sure, it probably wouldn't have made more sense to come clean once you found out that you were pregnant but the two of you were so freaked out...telling didn’t happen.
When Sirius received the letter to come back to London the week before it was time to face the fact that it was time to face the music. There would be no way that you could show back up to London with a baby who looked extraordinarily like her father with little to no explanation. Remus was too smart for his own good and would put 2 and 2 together within seconds.
“I’ve been sick of hiding for a long time.”
Sirius replied. He was silent for a few moments before taking your hand in his.
“I’m not scared of facing your brother. What bothers me is the fact that I have essentially been lying to him for two years.”
You slowly looked up from your place on his shoulder.
“I have too. Look, we did what we did because we both know that Remus would have flipped.”
“It's not like he can stop us from being together now.”
Sirius whispered. Mentally, he thanked Demelza for showing up when she did. Never in a million years did he plan on having a child but when you told him that you were pregnant...nothing else mattered. All Sirius cared about at that point was keeping you healthy and safe.
Yes, it would have been nice to have the support of his friends (especially James) at that particular point in his life. There had been many nights that Sirius and yourself sat outside of Demelza’s nursery at 3 am waiting for the baby to scream herself to sleep. The two of you had done everything to make the baby sleepy and nothing worked.
“Is she ever going to stop crying?”
Sirius muttered peaking through the cracked door to see his very angry daughter, not the least bit interested in sleeping. Instead, she was sitting up, rearranging how everything was in her crib. She was being a bit more dramatic than necessary.
“I don’t know what else to do. We’ve fed her like every 30 minutes for the past two hours. We’ve changed her. Now she is in there throwing a hissy fit like her father.”
Sirius gave you a scowl.
“Now we know why we have had to change her so much. We are never going to sleep again, are we?”
You sighed and put your head against the door.
“I don’t think so. Too bad we can’t bribe her yet.”
Sirius chuckled, wishing that he could get Lily over. She was great with kids. Of all people, she could figure out what the problem was.
“Already tried.”
He confessed.
“She doesn't seem to be the least bit interested.”
Sirius smiled at the memory. Luckily, both of you had gotten a lot better with getting Demelza to sleep when she didn’t want to.
“We should try to get some sleep. 6 am comes early.”
The morning did in fact come earlier than expected. Sirius and yourself stood outside of James and Lily’s house looking at the door like two naughty children. Sirius motioned to the door while adjusting Demelza in his arms.
“Well...what are we waiting for?”
You blinked, giving him the sassiest expression ever. It didn’t matter that the situation was so grave; Sirius still thought that expression was the cutest thing ever. He had already seen Demelza give him that expression far too many times.
“So, that is where she gets that look.”
You smiled and finally knocked on the door.
“Out of the frying pan and into the fire.”
Sirius’ amused expression quickly vanished and the dark one returned.
The moment the door opened, James stood on the other side. His face went from joy to see his best friend to sheer confusion.
“Uh, have I missed something?”
Sirius nodded.
“It's what you are thinking.”
Sirius said, softly. James looked between the two of you a couple of times. He clearly had no idea what to say. James had been looking forward to Sirius coming back to London for some time. Now here he stood with Remus Lupin’s sister and a baby.
“Whoa. I was totally not expecting this. She looks just like you, mate.”
That was all that Sirius needed to hear to know that James wasn’t mad. In fact, he looked down right giddy. This was the last thing that James had expected! He had expected Sirius to just be the fun godfather that had no interest in children of his own. Now here he stood holding a baby.
“Harry will have a little friend. Think about a few years from now when school time comes…”
Sirius smiled.
“Poor Minnie is going to cry. There are two more of us.”
James turned his attention to you.
“Off to France, huh? That was clever and sneaky. I am impressed. I knew that you were more than just some bookworm.”
You couldn’t help but smile at that. Being more than a bookworm was always a joke that James lovingly made in your direction.
“I can be sneaky.”
You said with a smile.
“Is Remus here?”
You asked. James' amused expression vanished. He knew that the two of you would have to face Remus and it probably wasn’t going to be pretty. Remus was in a mood from the full moon anyway now he was about to find out that his best friend and sister ran off and had a baby.
James had a good idea about how nervous you had to be. From the time that James met you, you had always been your brother’s pet. If someone messed with you, they had to deal with Remus and of course the rest of his friends. You were the same way about your brother in turn. James and Sirius always accredited your overprotective mothering to Remus’ furry little problem.
“He is. I’ll play middle man.”
James said with a smile.
The walk into the dinning room seemed to take forever. James glanced at the two of you. It didn’t take him being Sirius’ best friend to know that he was nervous. The smooth cocky demeanor that Sirius normally possessed was nowhere to be found.
James stepped into the dining room first. Remus was busy reading a book. He didn’t even notice his friend's absence. It was Lily, who was holding Harry, that looked up.
“What took so long? Where is Sirius?”
James faked a smile as Remus looked up. His friend looked extremely tired but curious as to what was going on.
“So...I want you all to keep an open mind about what you are about to see.”
“I don’t like conversations that start this way.”
Remus said warily. James nodded as he reached behind him and opened the door.
The moment that Sirius and yourself stepped in, both Lily and Remus’ mouths dropped. Both looked between the two of you as they clearly put everything together.
“What’s going on here?”
Remus asked. His voice was already beginning to tremble. You stepped forward shutting Sirius off from being able to start talking.
“It's what it looks like, Remus.” Your brother ran a hand over his face. He was getting angrier by the second and you could see it. You could also see that he was ill.
It's too close to the moon.
You thought as he stood.
“How long has this been going on?”
Sirius wrapped his free arm around your waist to hold you against him.
“Two years.”
You said, calmly.
Remus meanwhile, was a stone short of going into a tizzy. He had specifically told Sirius that you were off limits. You were too young to be in a committed relationship and Sirius had no idea what a committed relationship was.
Now here the two of you stood saying that there had been some ultra secret two year relationship that resulted in a niece that Remus had no idea of.
“You’re telling me that the two of you have been in a relationship and have a baby? Was it too hard for the two of you to send a letter? Talk to me in person? Sirius, this is the most backhanded lowly thing that you could have…”
You quickly stepped in.
“Remus don’t say something that you will regret later.”
You tried to keep your voice calm and even. Yelling at Remus when he was in this state would get no one anywhere.
“I won’t regret this…”
Remus started. Sirius, meanwhile, noticed how shaky his friend was.
“Remus, you should sit…”
“Don’t tell me what to do!”
Remus yelled. Sirius raised an eyebrow. This was probably the angriest that he had ever seen Remus Lupin. The voice of reason was now the one that was ready to kick ass.
“Do you have to have every woman, Sirius? When are you going to start having an affair with someone else or have you already gotten bored with Y/n?”
“Stop it!”
Sirius snapped. Remus didn’t back down. Remus knew that he needed to calm down but he couldn't. His eyes went to his niece. The little girl had Sirius’ shirt clasped in one pudgy fist. Her grey eyes were watching her uncle’s every move.
“I’ve got to get out of here!”
Remus snapped as he turned and walked out of the opposite door with a huff. James took a deep breath.
“And there we have it.”
He turned his attention to Sirius who was looking gloomily at the place where Remus stood. James put a hand on Sirius’ shoulder.
“He’ll be alright. You know that he didn’t mean what he said.”
“Yeah, he did.”
Sirius replied. James absentmindedly scratched the back of his head.
“Just give him some time. Now let me hold the baby.”
Sirius gently put Demelza in James’ arms. James smiled looking down at her. He saw you and Remus in the little girl’s serious expression. She quickly looked back to her father as if keeping an eye on him.
“He isn’t going anywhere.”
James said, softly.
“What’s her name?”
“Demelza.”
You replied. Lily had stood up and joined her husband in admiring the little girl.
“That’s lovely. She is lovely.”
James let Lily have her turn with the little girl. He turned back to Sirius and yourself.
“Did you tell your parents?”
Sirius shook his head.
“They are the last people that I would tell anything.”
James nodded.
“Probably for the best. Come on, let's go get a drink.”
Sirius leaned down and kissed your cheek before following James out of the room.
Lily meanwhile, turned to you.
“Come sit down, love. You look exhausted.”
You sighed.
“I don’t sleep much. Sirius and I were both worried about how Remus was going to take it...I knew that it was going to be a disaster.”
Lily used her free hand to hold yours.
“Y/n, he was probably shocked. I was. Let him calm down. This is Remus that we are talking about. We all know how much he loves you.”
Lily was silent for a moment before looking back to you.
“Why didn’t you write James and I? We would have been there with you two the whole way.”
You looked down at your feet feeling suddenly depressed.
“We were afraid that you two would tell Remus. Sirius and I didn’t know who to tell him...it all kind of went out of control. We were going to tell him before I got pregnant. When I found out, we both panicked...to say the least.”
Lily understood. She wasn’t upset with either of you.
“I just hate the thought of you giving birth in a hospital without any support. How did Sirius handle it?”
Lily was relieved when you giggled.
“He panicked a few times. I almost had to tell him to sit down and shut up.”
Lily shook her head with a smile.
“I would have liked to have seen that. Should you two have any more children...I want to witness it.”
“You will be the first to know...should that happen. I think one is enough for now.”
Lily smiled down at the baby girl on her lap. Demelza was happily playing with the bracelet on Lily’s wrist.
“She has the Black family good looks but I see you in there. She has your dainty features. I can’t wait for Harry to wake up so he can meet her.”
The two of you immediately looked up at each other.
“So do we make bets on who will be the bigger trouble makers? James and Sirius or Demelza and Harry.”
You took a breath. James and Sirius’ wild behavior was no secret to Lily or yourself. You had witnessed a lot of their shenanigans while in school. Now you had to wonder if Demelza would be giving her father a run for his money?
“I guess time will tell on that one. Lily, I know that Sirius is going to talk to James about this so I’m going to talk to you about it. We want you two to be her godparents. If anything should happen…”
“WE WOULD LOVE TO!”
Lily squealed.
“I want Remus to be involved too but I don’t think he would be up to raising a baby...right now that is. I can only hope that he wants something to do with her.”
Demelza had snuggled herself against Lily’s chest and yawned. Lily stroked her finger down the baby’s cheek.
“How could he not want to? Look at this sweet little face. He’s going to love her. Don’t even worry about that.”
As Lily gently rocked Demelza to sleep, you sat pondering her words. You could only hope that your friend was right. Maybe you could talk to Remus once he returned from wherever he went. Hopefully this time he will listen….

Mickey Mouse Birthday Shortstravaganza!
Tumblr media
It’s Mickey and Minnie’s Birthday! It was 92 Years Ago Today everyone’s faviorite mouse came in on a tide of whistling, romance and animal abuse and swept into America’s hearts and wallets. Okay I am a day late on this, I had a busy day, but hey a belated celebratoin’s still good right? Right? Eh i’m doing it anyway.   Anyway since then he’s been one of animations most iconic characters, and while out of the classic power trio I vastly prefer donald and goofy, they still woudln’t be around without Disney’s big cheese and having not seen a ton of Mickey’s shorts, I felt I owed it to the big eared one to take a look at a bunch of his shorts for his birthday and see how I liked em. If your curious about my previous Donald Duck marathon, it’s CLICK THIS LINK.  Unlike last time all of these shorts are on Disney+ as more of Mickey’s library is on there and one or two of these were added recently, as Disney tends to add a few a month. I do wish there were more on there.. but unlike with say the handful of shows they haven’t put on there, i’m a bit more forgiving here. For one thing, YouTube has all the shorts available from various uploaders and DIsney hasn’t touched them despite Plus’ launch. Given like most companies Disney usually has their bots a cirlcing for their content, this has to be delebrate on there part and it’s a good gesture from the company. So while not in crisp HD like the Plus copies, or as easily avaliable, you can find any short that’s happened. So the shorts not all being up at once isn’t an issue like most of the shows that are absent on Plus.
They also heavily need to cherry pick their library as some shorts simply haven’t aged well or have offensive stuff. With the exception of “The Beach Picnic”, which has a racist caricature of native americans via ants.. yes really, most of the shorts are fine to show kids, and have aged pretty well. And as my last marathon showed some shorts.. just haven’t. While not you know racist, seriously why is the Beach Picnic on there?, “Donald’s Penguin”, while utterly adorable at first, ends with Donald trying to murder a baby penguin with a shot gun. No amount of content warnings is going to get past one of their beloved icons pointing a shotgun at a baby. While Disney’s self conciousness can be silly, the splash edit and not putting the Darkwing Duck episode “Hot Spells” on plus for instance, this is one time when I can agree with them: if someone is curious about a paticuarlly offensive short or a propoganda one, youtube exists. But given Plus is trying to be all ages and dosen’t have censoring they have to be careful what they put on there, and I can respect that. I don’t think anyone’s crying a river over the fact that the goofy short where his reflection keeps saying “Hey Fat”, over and over while he struggles with his weight isn’t on Disney Plus and thankfully never will be. But seriously get rid of the “Beach Picnic”. It’s not a good short and you already have one batch of native american stereotypes with “Peter Pan”, I don’t think racist ants are the hill you want to die on disney.
So yeah, this time all of these are from Disney Plus, and since I watched them all at once, their in Watch order rather than chronological like last time. So with all that out of the way...

After the cut
Tumblr media
1. Steamboat Willie (1928): It’s All Fun and Games Until Mickey Strangles an Innocent Duck Starting from the obvious source, Steamboat Willie was the start of Mickey’s career. And it’s.. okay. The animation is fantastic and the first half is pretty good: Theirs a pretty good gag with one of the cows. But the finale, with Mickey abusing various animals just isn’t that funny A LITTLE rattling of an animal for comedy is fine.. but the things Mickey does here are just sociopathic> And yes I know it was the 1920′s, but even in that lawless, racist, sexist time, they knew better than to strangle a duck, or, in the moment that puts it over the top, remove suckling pigs fromt heir mom and then play a pig’s teats like an insturment to make it squeal musically.. I assure you I did not make this up. That actually happens.  The pacing is also fairly slow at points, with some gags dragged out, though that can be chalked up to having no way to edit the damn thing, so that part I can forgive more.  What makes up for it, like I said, are some good jokes, and some gorgeous animation. Decades later and while clearly made a long time ago, it still looks vibrant and really pops even in black and white. It shows just how talented Disney was and how far the company could go with this medium.  One last thing to note is Mickey’s Early personality. While he’d retain trickster aspects at times, here he bounces between the loveable jolly mouse we’d come to know for the rest of his career who sometimes has a wild streak.. and a total asshole who strangles a duck. It’s just intresting to see such a diffrent side of him,  most of which would end up going to Donald over time. Overall the short is decent, not the best of Disney’s catalogue but worth a watch for the historical significance despite it’s shortcomings, pun unintended.

2. Thru the Mirror (1936): That Was a Weird One This was easily my favorite of the bunch and as of now, my favorite Mickey Mouse Theatrical Short. Part of it is that it’s entirely bonkers; The film STARTS with Mickey , sound asleep, some how astral projecting as his soul, his spirit or whatever lead shis body and having been reading Alice Thorugh the Looking Glass, goes into a mirror world. But instead of encountring evil goatee mickey, he encounters a bunch of living objects and a bunch of fun set pieces for jokes ensue. He dances with playing cards, fights an army of them, has a sword fight with the king after dancing with the queen which.. no Mickey, bad mickey, your in a relationship and so is she. Bad Mouse bad. It is entirely fucking insane, even including a living nut cracker which.. words can’t.. look
Tumblr media
They.. they had to know how this looked right? did the director have a ball busting fetish? I mean okay if he did, nothing wrong with that, but maybe don’t put it in your children’s cartoon.  That being said it does eat the shells which I find creative. And that’s what really makes this one pop. The creativity. Not a single minute is boring, every minute has something intresting going on, but without throwing too muchi n your face. It’s just a wonderful short and one that like Mr. Duck Steps out, i’ll be rewatching a LOTTTT.
Tumblr media
3. Mickey’s Rival (1936): Mortimer: The Original Bro From the same year we have disappointment. Having grown up with the disney classic House of Mouse, I was a huge fan of Mortimer. So when I first saw this, I was happy to see where he came from.. then justifably blocked it out of my mind till this review. While I love mortimer, I love Mickey having a sleazy rival and one diffrent than Pete who has different goals and tactics than the big guy. But his debut just has him as an obnoxious snickering bro.. which to be fair is who he is, but without the venre of charm his later version would have.  Mortimer just spends the short being a pranking douche, and blatantly hitting on Minnie in front of Mickey while their on a date. Which even in an open relationship is a no no, so he has no leg to stand on.. metaphorically. He also walks weird in this one because, and this is true, he’s carying 9 volt batteries in his pants. Yes really. That’s the level of Douche we’re dealing with. Someone so up their own ass they carry batteries int heir pocket instead of money or a mask or children’s trading cards like a normal person or a me.  What makes it frustrating is Minnie just swoons over the guy. And not like “Awww he’s so funny”, I mean romantically then has the gaul to say “your just jealous” when Mickey is understandably fuming over the jackass who swooped in, pranked him, is hitting on his girlfriend in front of him by teasing a bull, and in general is just the worst. Yes.. yes he is. Justifably. Jealousy is an ugly emotion but there’s a line between some dude bro like Mortimer getting mad your friends with someone you could be in a relationship with, boy, girl, neither, both, whatever your into, and Mickey getting mad his girlfriend is chuckling all over her ex who agian, crashed their date and treated him like garbage and is very transparently hitting on her in the middle of it.  It’s also just not a very funny short, outside of the bit pictured and tha’ts more for the sheer aburdity of Mortimer elctifying his pant for a really dumb gag about stealing people’s pants button. He’s very lucky we didn’t see Mickey’s Epic Mickey is what i’m saying. But given he’s a frat bro, the 1930′s version granted but a bro nonetheless,  he’d probably find that hilarious until he noticed the sheer size and scope.  Overall a forgetable, frustrating short. The one bright spot is mickey and mortimer’s cars which have faces and stuff and look neat.. otherwise it was just a waste of my time and the only good thing it did was bringing Mortimer into our lives. And that ain’t nothing.
Tumblr media
4. Mickey Down Under (1948): ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
This is a quick one.. because this one was a vacum. I mean I can at least say for Mickey’s Rival it’s interesting.. i’ts not good but it’s interesting. this is just.. Mickey farts around with a boomerang with his dog and then pisses off an ostrich. There’s not really a lot of consequence or intrest is what i’m saying. I can’t even find a good opening to make a letterkenny joke. No one got close to fucking an ostrich here. It’s telling by the fact theirs no gif’s of this one that no one cares and it baffles me this is one of the ones Disney chose to gussy up for D+ release. But still no donald messing around with a robot?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. The Band Concert (1935): That’s More Like It.  Okay scooting back a year we have the band concert. This is my third time watching this one and it’s a delight. Like the last one I don’t have a ton to say.. but it’s more because this one is just so good rather than because it wasted my time. It’s got a fun concept and the breakout performance from my boy donald duck as he constantly fucks with the band’s performance by either getting in their faces or hilariously pulling Flute’s out of thin heir. I miss that gimmick for donald, his love of pulling objects out of the either via magic and shenanigans. They should bring it back. Also his shenanigans remind me of opus and that’s never a bad thing.
Tumblr media
Also Horace takes off his shirt. For the Ladies. A Classic for good reason.
Tumblr media
6. On Ice (1935): Donald is a Bastard Man Another great one from the same year. This time around we have what i’ve come to call a Mickey and the Gang Messaround. This is back when Donald and Goofy were supporting characters, so generally each of the big three do something, usually coming together for the climax.  In this case Mickey tries to help Minnie with her skating, with him adorably following her around with a pillow before showing off for her, just really sweet stuff. Goofy’s bit is hilariously dumb, as fitting my boy, as he feeds fish tobaco to get them to spit into a spitoon, and tries to club them, with predictable results. While not the most enivrionmentally friendly just the sheer oddness, the fact it sort of works minus him actually clubbing them, and one of hte fish smacking him in the face all make it work.  The only bit that reallyd osen’t is Donald and pluto... it was present a bit before but here illustrates why I really dread Pluto based shorts. While I don’t hate the dog, he’s a dog I love dogs, most of the gags in his old shorts, and even up to mouseworks are him either being blamed for shit that’s not his fault, a pet peve of mine, or being tourtured in some way...
Tumblr media
But dosen’t work at all now. He puts the poor dog on skates and then laughs at him and even sings a song mocking the poor dog, before justifably nearly ending up going over a watterfall, then ending up clubbed in the head. Good. I love donald but good god is he unsympathetic here.. and for some reason they teamed the two up again for more shorts! Why. It’s why I don’t get why Pluto was the star of his own shorts: if this is all they had.. why do it? Was the 30′s, 40′s and 50′s equilvent of a micheal bay audience really that into dog abuse?  So yeah otherwise a good short but that segment drags it down. not Donald’s best work.
Tumblr media
7. Clock Cleaners(1937): This is a Great One Not much to say on this one. It’s pretty good, has some fun set pieces, and some great jokes from all three characters. Mickey deals with a seagull, donald effs with a main spring and Goofy fights some statues. All good clean fun. My lack of brevity is more because I don’t have any jokes rather than this genuinely being bad. It’s pretty good.
Tumblr media
8.. Mickey and the Seal(1948): More Pluto Torture Porn!
This one’s more of a mixed bag. On the one hand, it is really cute, as a young seal ends up going home with mickey after he visits the zoo to feed them fish. On the other hand.. it’s mostly Pluto chasing after the seal, Mickey being kind of a dick to pluto and not getting he clearly saw SOMETHING in his house, and then teasing him at the end despite him having been right. That being said the ending, with the seal brining back all it’s buddies to mickey’s house, is fricking amazing. ALso the seals in this unvierse who aren’t antrho can speak. That.. that raises a lot of questions I don’t think disney can answer.
Tumblr media
9. Ye Olden Days (1933): Jaunty Dueling Music Now this.. this was a fun one. Mickey and Minnie head to Medivil times, proving that the current shorts tendency to jaunt to various settings isn’t a new thing, and it’ sjust a much of a fun change up here as it was there. Mickey, a wondering minstral, ends up trying to rescue Minnie after her father throws her in a dungeon for not wanting to marry Prince Dippy Dog, who hopes she can learn to love him. I can’t tell if he’s genuine or a dick here. But it’s fun, especially the part where, after Minnie declares she loves mickey which.. it’s been a few hours slow down, they decide on a duel and thus sing some ragtime, 1930′s getting ready for duel music that’s just catchy. if X Of Swords ever gets a movie, I want to use this song. Just.. really good stuff. A fun short with some great gag,s a great concept, and my boy goofy as the villian. What’s not to like? Alright one more.
Tumblr media
10. MIckey’s BIrthday Party (1942): Big Chicken Breasts We end on another all together now, Mickey and the Gang Messaround that was a great note to end on. I did watch another short, Pluto’s Birthday party.. but it was both more of a Pluto short and more Pluto torture nonsense, so yeah, skipping that one, as I ended up one short of my 12 goal because I can’t count, apparently. So Mickey gets 10, but this one’s a good note to go out on.
Minnie throws a suprise party for mickey which almost turns into a live sex celebration as Mickey clearly is a wee bit horny going in. But it turns into a fun dance party, with Donald throwing out razzes like a good buddy, Goofy making a cake, and some fun gags with a piano they all bought him. It’s a really good short. That’s the problem with Mickey Shorts and doing all D+ ones: There just isn’t the weirdly offensive stuff to talk about there is. He’s not a bad character, but there’s a reason in every short that features all three, Donald and Goofy easily outshine him. Mickey’s not a bad character, but when not in trickster mode, there just isn’t a lot for him to do. It’s why the comics reinvented him, much like they did for donald, into a plucky detective/reporter who reguarly sovles crimes. He’s not bad, and as seen with Ye Olden Days and Thru the Miror, his blank slateness cna be put to good effect and house of mouse gave him more of a personality, but here he’s just the bland good guy to Donald’s loveable scmap and goofy’s loveable dumbass. It’s an issue comedy has to this day: having a lead whose just.. not as intresting as the rest of the ensemble.  There is weirdness to note, as Donald dances with Clara Cluck> That’s not the weird part, he and daisy took a while to be etched in stone. The weird parts are 1. Donald wearing a sombrero and smoking a cigar, and 2. Clara’s MASSIVE boobs.. yes really. Clara Cuck has giant breasts. Like actual boobs that sway around while she dances with donald. it’s.. bizzare. Not terrible, who doesn’t like big chicken boobs but just.. really really weird to see ina  Disney cartoon. But yeah it’s jus ta fun note to end on.
And that was MIckey’s Birthday special. I enjoyed it even if I had less to say than I thought. If you liked this review, you can comission your own for five bucks, just hit up my pms or my discord , avaliable on request. "I promise I'll love you even with my broken heart"
What's love?
It has been the question on  14 years old Soyeon's mind as she watched her friend running in the backyard of the orphanage, the shorter girl following the female figure up close as both of them make their way to the tree house that the tallest among them declared as hers.
They went up the stairs and made themselves comfortable surrounded by memories they had hung on the wood walls, they even used to play darts with the picture of the principal of the orphanage as they talked about the families that had visited them that day
Soyeon listened careful as her dearest friend was on and on about an special Chinese family that caught her attention, seems like a perfect match with a lovely mom, a kind dad and an impatient younger daughter by the name Yuqi.
And as Soyeon kept hearing her friend, she began to confirm to herself that the girl in front of her was the only home she got and needed, for the gummy smiled girl, her friend was everything and wished for it to stay that way.
They knew both of them were already old to be adopted, being teens, complicated their situation, knowing that when they turn 18, the orphanage won't be able to host them anymore, it was the reason why they got a backup plan.
If that day came, they will live together, both of them will work their asses out to have a decent life and the most important of it, they will be together.
When her friend finished her description they did their ritual to end the day, toasting with their red cups with some 7up in them and cheered for better days to come and to keep their friendship no matter what.
Don't take her wrong she was happy that her friend was finally able to have the family she had always wished but on the other side Soyeon felt alone, who was going to be her partner in crime now?
But life is never what a person expected to be and by the second month Soyeon got one of the saddest news she had heard...
her friend got adopted.
After the new spreeded, two more weeks were given to them, as a way of closure but as they said they farewells in their tree house they also made a promise to keep in touch as they raised their traditional 7up red cups and tears fell from their eyes, they hugged each other and silently both of them repeated
"No matter when, no matter how we will find each other"
Soyeon watched her long friend walking outside the orphanage, being welcome by her now parents and sister as they helped her to hop onto the car all this as her eyes were clouded by her tears and her heart felt empty and numb.
For Soyeon life was never easy after that, even though every Friday she received a letter from her friend, after another three years passed the dream of a family faded away when the principal announced her she will have to leave on her next birthday.
She walked out of the orphanage with nothing more than just a suitcase in her hand and a bag hanging from her shoulder, and once again, she was alone.
The orphanage helped her to find a job as a waitress in a Thai restaurant and a small apartment to live in on her own just a block away from her workplace, it wasn't much but for the first time in her life she had something that it was hers, and with her first salary received she bought a necessary cellphone to keep in touch with her friend although sometimes it was difficult.
At the restaurant Soyeon saw Minnie, the owner's daughter with who she began to develop a good friendship too, the girl was younger than her but they had got along since the day they met.
On the other side her childhood friend had won the lottery, her family loved her a lot and offered her the opportunity to travel and also supported her on her dreams to became a dancer.
The last time they talked her friend talked her about a Taiwanese girl she had met on her dancing studio and for some reason Soyeon felt sad as she heard the happy voice on the other line.
After a long year of work Soyeon finally could met up with her friend, she had invited her to a collage party, inviting Minnie along, so Soyeon dress up for the occasion, a ripped jeans, white shirt and a black leather jacket on top as black leather ankle boots completed her outfit.
They arrived to the direction given and found a house full of drunk people on the front yard and loud music reached her ears. Shyly Soyeon and Minnie got inside, Soyeon looking with her eyes to her friend,  almost not recognizing her partner in crime which hair was red now.
Both of them looked each other back and forth before the red haired girl ran to Soyeon's direction throwing her arms around her neck and her legs around her waist as the koala bear girl expressed how much she had missed her.
-Soyeon omg I'm so glad that you are here, come you have to meet my friends - an excited redhead welcomed Soyeon as she dragged her by the arm to meet the other people in the room
- I'm glad to see you again too Soojin- was Soyeon unheard answered with a Minnie clinged to her waist.
- here, this is Hui, Yuto, Miyeon and guys where is she?- was the half introduction Soojin did before getting distracted.
-anyways, y'all, this is my best friend Soyeon and she...who is she?-  Soojin questioned Soyeon when she saw the silent girl besides her friend.
- she is Minnie, a friend of mine - Soyeon introduce her and they all greeted each other.
After that, they bagan to drink and dance as the music was on point that night, they all even sang  most of the songs played, it was until Soyeon felt drop of cold water on her hands that she saw Soojin holding a red cup filled with a some beverage in, to which the short haired girl laughed.
- I cannot believe you remembered- she said holding the cup on her hands
- how could I forget it - she pointed out raising her cup - for our friendship-
-for our friendship- Soyeon repeated and toasted.
- this is definitely not 7up- Soyeon expressed feeling the burning sensation on her throat.
- we are 19! Of course it wouldn't be 7up alone - Soojin explained her winking an eye to Soyeon
They were outside talking when suddenly a pair of arms surrounded Soojin's shoulder along with a cute nickname said
-jin-ah~ why you left me alone- the stranger girl pouted as she looked at Soojin dearly
- I just left for about 10 minutes, don't be dramatic- Soojin said smiling sweetly to the other girl
- I know I know I know, but I missed you - clearly the poor girl was drunk making her even cuter.
And Soyeon got surprised when Soojin touched the other girl's cheek and kissed her lips.
-you are drunk baby -  Soojin stated as she looked shyly back at Soyeon.
- she is Shuhua, my girlfriend- the red hair explained.
- I have been wanting to tell you but she got lost and then I kinda forgot- she excused herself, looking with a little shame to Soyeon.
- I was also afraid of your reaction- finally Soojin admitted not hearing a reply from her friend.
Soyeon sensing the insecurity in Soojin's voice just smiled at her
-it's totally fine, don't worry, is she the pretty girl of your dancing class?- Soyeon inquired receiving a nod from Soojin who was now holding a sleepy Shuhua on her shoulder.
- I should  probably take her home- Soojin spoke after some silent minutes
-yeah you should, she will totally regret it tomorrow - Soyeon laughed at her joke watching a zombie like Shuhua.
And as Soyeon watched her friend getting into a cab she called her name
- Soojin! It was great to see you again and it's totally fine, really, I like girls too - was all Soyeon confessed just to received a warm hug from a teary Soojin seconds after hearing a lot of "thank yous" from her, who went back to the car promising to call her tomorrow.
And standing outside of a foreign house as a cab faded on the road, Soyeon experienced a broken heart for the first time.
The following moths they hang out almost every weekend, specially after Soyeon got her first car, it was and old red Camaro, it was not fancy at all but it was hers, it became mandatory to went out to ride the streets of Seoul going to hills on the outside of the city and enjoy the view of the busy city below them, a red cup always in their hands and right there on the right side door their names were engraved.
Soyeon remember too those moments shared at her room, how Soojin will always be around singing songs and dancing as the gummy smiled girl wrote lyrics, little did Soojin know they were all about her.
The now blue haired girl might have a girlfriend but that didn't stopped Soyeon to stop her feelings from growing inside her chest although she well known Soojin will never love her like that, it killed her but she preferred having her friendship that nothing at all.
But as we all know things never stay the same and Soyeon found out about it when both of them turned 22, and it showed up as a letter delivered to her house.
Curiosity took over her as she opened the envelope which was on the floor five seconds later, there Soyeon red something she had seen coming but wasn't ready for it.
"Soojin and Shuhua invited you to their wedding"
It was understandable, the girls have been dating for almost 4 years, it was meant to be and  Soyeon cried remembering all those moments shared on her car, her room, and a third face always on the background, watching them and enjoying the time spent with them.
So now Soyeon was watching her friend on her wedding dress, walking down the aisle while remaining as beautiful as Soyeon had always seen her, hearing her saying the "I do" she dreamed was for her one day,  sharing their first dance together with the song she had wrote for them and as each moment happened before her eyes, it came a moment where it was too much for her to handle.
She walked outside the salon, towards the  garden on the back, hugging herself as the cold air hit her body and tears began to form on her eyes.
Soyeon clean the last tear from her cheek as something cold and wet touched her bare shoulder founding a beautiful smile on her side.
- don't tell me we are doing this- she questioned the girl on her right side laughing by the silliness of the situation
- it wouldn't be us if we didn't- the now black short haired girl replied lifting her red cup up
-for our friendship?- Soyeon said in doubt received a light push from the other cup that touched hers
- for our friendship- Soojin confirmed drinking up the liquor in.
Soyeon took that instant to admired Soojin one last time, she had been the love she had dearest the most, but she will let it go to stay with the best friendship she has ever had.
And Soyeon drunk to that receiving a tight and warm hug from a married Soojin, who had tears pouring down on her make up.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Soojin went inside leaving Soyeon alone outside, who had stayed to admired the starts, it was her excuse to ease her mind.
Soyeon was too caught up looking up the sky when she felt something warm around her shoulder.
- you shouldn't be outside without a proper coat, you might catch a cold- a cute voice replied her taking a seat next to her.
-you know, first love always sucks but there is a reason why is called like that- she spoke surprising Soyeon by her straightforward words
- it's because the first love is made to be forgotten, if it was truth love, then it will be called the last love-  she continued her explanation ending it with a shy smile.
- I'm...- and Soyeon got interrupted
- you are Soyeon, Soojin's best friend, and I am Yuqi, Soojin's sister- the stranger finally got a name, and as she introduced herself she extended her arm for a handshake.
And as Soyeon  touched the other girl's hand her body freezed as she heard Yuqi next statement.
- and your last love -
And Soyeon smiled at the confidence of the girl next to her.

Billboard #1s 1975
Under the cut.
Elton John – “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” -- January 4, 1975
He slowed it down. Of course he did. And he's singing it like every word must be perfectly enunciated so that you can understand how incredibly deep it is. Awful, terrible, ugh. William Shatner's version is actually preferable.
Barry Manilow – “Mandy” -- January 18, 1975
Barry Manilow got a lot of hate when I was a kid in the 80s, and I didn't understand from any first-hand experience because the only song I knew of his was "Copacabana." Now, listening -- he's not bad. Yeah, he's 70s light rock. But he sings with emotion that doesn't sound fake and this song has a beat. I'm not saying I like this song, in which the singer regrets sending away the woman he loves, but it's fine. I find it far more tolerable than any Elton John song on this list.
The Carpenters – “Please Mr. Postman” -- January 25, 1975
The Carpenters' asset was Karen Carpenter's amazing singing. This song does not showcase it. They'd have done better to cover "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" or "One Fine Day." Also the way they redid the music makes it sound more like a light 50s pop song than early Motown. Blech.
Neil Sedaka – “Laughter In The Rain” -- February 1, 1975
This song is about taking walks in the rain with his wife/girlfriend. There's something fake about his singing, and also he doesn't hit the high notes (which aren't that high) right. I'd actually like to hear what Barry Manilow would do with this. It's not terrible, but meh.
Ohio Players – “Fire” -- February 8, 1975
Putting sirens in a pop song is kinda dickish, because you're gonna get people driving in their cars to try to suddenly swerve off the road. Anyway, besides that, this is an Ohio Players song, so it's funk. I don't really know what else to say about it. Maybe it could have been a little faster? I'm a bit bored, and that should never happen with funk.
Linda Ronstadt – “You’re No Good” -- February 15, 1975
There are sure a lot of covers this year. Boomer nostalgia. But Linda Ronstadt put a hell of a lot of effort into this one, unlike the people who did the previous two covers. The song's also a really good one, with an interesting lyrical twist; not only is the singer telling the man who broke her heart that he's no good, but "I broke a heart that’s gentle and true/ Well, I broke a heart over someone like you.” That's some vinegar in the wound. And musically, it's really good rock -- not an ounce of schmaltz anywhere. Excellent song, and I went back to listen to it on repeat when I was done writing for the night.
Average White Band – “Pick Up The Pieces” -- February 22, 1975
It's a funk instrumental. I think this has been on a lot of soundtracks. I find it repetitive and kinda boring.
Eagles – “Best Of My Love” -- March 1, 1975
They're still in love but their marriage is falling apart. The divorce rate in the 70s was very high. People often claim those 70s statistics are the same today, but they very much are not. Anyway, it's not too whiny and he doesn't blame her, but the song is too slow and too light. You could replace the words with a straightforward love song without changing the music, so long as the love song was boring. Yawn.
Olivia Newton-John – “Have You Never Been Mellow” -- March 8, 1975
Wow, shut up Olivia. I can identify with being sick of someone who is wound up like an E string and wanting to tell them to just chill. Hell, I'm that tightly-wound person pretty often, and I do much better when I remember to be mellow when I can. But this song is condescending and superior. "Have you never tried to find a comfort from inside you?" Toxic positivity.
The Doobie Brothers – “Black Water” -- March 15, 1975
I saw the song title and the chorus immediately started up in my brain. This is a song about the Mississippi by people who may never have been east of Las Vegas. "I ain't got no worries/ Cuz I ain't in a hurry at all." Pfft right. But the music of this song is so catchy and fun, that even though I'm not fond of the lyrics, I like the song.
Frankie Valli – “My Eyes Adored You” -- March 22, 1975
This guy used to lead The Four Seasons, but thankfully he doesn't do that horrible falsetto in this one. Ostensibly this song is about how he's thinking about his first crush. I think that's a metaphor, though. I think it's a song worshiping nostalgia and missing childhood. Yuck.
LaBelle – “Lady Marmalade” -- March 29, 1975
Patti LaBelle claimed she didn't know what this song was about. Yeah right. It's about a guy who spent some time with a sex worker on his trip to New Orleans. There's no judgment. It's just a sort of funky, sort of disco-ey, definitely belted song and it’s great.
Minnie Riperton – “Lovin’ You” -- April 5, 1975
Turn it off turn it off turn it off. I hate this song. It's one of the first songs I knew I hated musically, rather than only lyrically. The lyrics are whatever, a 70s love song, but the music -- I can't handle it. It's like sandpaper on my brain.
Elton John – “Philadelphia Freedom” -- April 12, 1975
Elton John's ode to Philly soul. It doesn't work. It's too slow, it's repetitive, and Elton John's no soul singer. He's so boring.
B. J. Thomas – “(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song” -- April 26, 1975
Hey won't you not play that please. It's too slow, and it's without guts or grit. The Muppets sped it up and made it a multi-Muppet honky tonk singalong, which improved it a lot. Also I think Bo Burnham took the idea for "Y'all dumb motherfuckers want a key change?" from Rowlf's "Up a key!" line in the Muppet version.
Tony Orlando & Dawn – “He Don’t Love You (Like I Love You)” -- May 3, 1975
Another cover of a 60s song. Linda Rondstadt is still the only one to do it right. The song itself, when sung by others, is a good one. Not when sung by Tony Orlando. It's like he bleached it. Also I expect him to tell me the slot machines are available all night when he's done.
Earth, Wind & Fire – “Shining Star” -- May 24, 1975
This song is absolutely awesome. It's disco-funk, and yet it's sort of a sermon about self-actualization too. "You’re a shining star, no matter who you are / Shining bright to see what you could truly be.” Compare and contrast with the condescending "Have You Never Been Mellow." This is how you inspire people.
Freddy Fender – “Before The Next Teardrop Falls” -- May 31, 1975
This song is in both English and Spanish. Musically, it sounds like it comes from way before 1975, but that's not a bad thing. The singer is losing his woman to another man, but he tells her if the new man ever hurts her, he'll be there before the next teardrop falls. It's a solid country song.
John Denver – “Thank God I’m A Country Boy” -- June 7, 1975
How much money did John Denver have by this point? He sounds like the typical rich conservative talking about how he's a good ol' down home boy while he's got a condo in New York, a mansion in California, and keeps an official residence in Oklahoma for tax purposes that he never visits. "A-raisin’ me a family and working on the farm / My days are all filled with an easy country charm." Total and absolute bullshit -- farm work is phenomenally hard, not "easy country charm." This song is offensively bad.
America – “Sister Golden Hair” -- June 14, 1975
The singer isn't ready for commitment but can't stop thinking about the woman he's singing to. So he's trying to keep her hangin' on. There's one line that I hate: "Will you love me just a little, just enough to show you care?" How about you show her you care first, you entitled brat? The music's pretty good, but the lyrics bug me.
The Captain & Tennille – “Love Will Keep Us Together” -- June 21, 1975
It has a beat and some bounce at least. She sings about how some girl may come along to try to take him away -- seriously? This silly hat-wearing doof? Okay, that's a problem. Another problem is that she sounds perfectly chipper throughout. She's not worried, but who would be? I think this song struck a chord because of the divorce rate in the 70s. That, along with it having an actual beat of some kind unlike so many other hits of the era, is my theory as to how it got big.
Wings – “Listen To What The Man Said” -- July 19, 1975
There is, of course, nothing wrong with silly love songs. But some of them are not good songs. I usually love to hear a saxophone on a pop song, but this one sounds like it belongs in background music on a TV show. The main melody line is boring. I think it's another song about divorce anxiety: "No matter what the man said/ And love is fine for all we know/ For all we know, our love will grow." Very true. But did you have to be so boring when imparting this message, Paul?
Van McCoy & The Soul City Symphony – “The Hustle” -- July 26, 1975
Doo doo doo da doo doo doo da doo. My dad actually knew how to do the two-person hustle. I think. Anyway, how he showed me to dance is the way the couples are dancing in the Hustle video here. Minus that leg kick. There are almost no words to this song. Just "Do the Hustle" and "The Hustle. Do it." And -- okay! It is an irresistible dance song. I like it, though the piccolo (I think it's a piccolo) gets hard to listen to after a while.
Eagles – “One Of These Nights” -- August 2, 1975
Tom Breihan, whose Stereogum articles I've been using to track these songs, doesn't like the Eagles when they turned to a bit more of a rock direction with this song. This is one of many examples of how he's wrong. Okay, okay, an example of how my taste differs from his, which is one thing that pushed me to do this list. But yes, I really like this song a lot. The guitars are great. The narrator of this song is looking for a girlfriend. Or maybe a friend with benefits. The lyrics are all pretty good, if hardly Stevie Nicks level, but one line stands out: "Oh, loneliness will blind you in between the wrong and the right." It will.
The Bee Gees – “Jive Talkin'” -- August 9, 1975
I made a weird noise that scared my cat when I saw this was the next one. But thankfully, I have a little more time before Barry Gibb's horrible falsetto pierces my brain. This is nonetheless a Bee Gees disco song, which means my butt is firmly planted in my seat and I have no desire to dance whatsoever. It isn't ear-bleeding like their later songs, as the falsetto is absent, but it is terribly boring.
Hamilton, Joe Frank And Reynolds – “Fallin’ In Love” -- August 23, 1975
He's fallin' in love with you again. Or maybe fallin' more in love with you. I dunno. I'm falling asleep.
KC & The Sunshine Band – “Get Down Tonight” -- August 30, 1975
Some dance songs are good listening songs. This one is not. The narrator wants to do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight. And if you are not there to get down, the song is not for you. Especially how repetitive it gets in the second half. It serves its purpose as a dance song well, though.
Glen Campbell – “Rhinestone Cowboy” -- September 6, 1975
I really like rhinestones. I like sparkly stuff. The narrator of this song does too. He's been trying to get somewhere for a long time and has had it. He's eager to sell out thoroughly at this point. I get it. Oh boy do I get it. And being a rhinestone cowboy doesn't hurt anyone. If I could churn out huge amounts of disposable fiction with a "load of compromising" to make a lot of money, I'd do it in a heartbeat. My 20-year old self would be shocked. But life's hard, and "cringe" isn't harm. Rhinestone Cowboy's good in my book.
David Bowie – “Fame” -- September 20, 1975
And here's a song about how chasing celebrity is maybe not such a great idea. A really bad idea, actually.  "It drives you to crime," for one thing. Yet this is musically not a dour song at all. It's angry but upbeat at the same time. Also brilliant musically, which from David Bowie is "of course." Most excellent.
John Denver – “I’m Sorry” -- September 27, 1975
The narrator is sorry about a breakup. He says he's also "sorry for the way things are in China." That one line makes me side-eye the entire song. Saying that they're sorry for huge things that have nothing to do with them is something abusive people sometimes do. The rest of the song sounds sincere enough though. And boring. Oh, so very boring.
Neil Sedaka – “Bad Blood” -- October 11, 1975
The narrator is telling a guy that the woman he's with is bad and is going to mess him up. And he's angry about it -- not at the woman, but at the guy. I think the narrator wanted the woman and is now calling her an evil bitch to try to turn his supposed friend against her. There's this happy flute in the background that sounds really odd with this deeply nasty song. Also, nastiness should be more interesting than this. It's both mean and boring.
Elton John – “Island Girl” -- November 1, 1975
Did Elton John start all his songs with the same chords? I feel like he did. This doesn't sound like an island song. It sounds like an ad jingle. A racist, sexist ad jingle. Ha-ha isn't it funny that a woman is tall and dark-skinned. The song calls her a "well-worn tire." So, so bad.
KC & The Sunshine Band – “That’s The Way (I Like It)” -- November 22, 1975
I have never understood any lyrics to this song but the chorus, or been curious enough to look them up. I just did. There are very few lyrics in this song besides the chorus, but yep, it's about sex. It's another KC & The Sunshine Band dance song that's great for dancing, and not really meant for anything else.
Silver Convention – “Fly, Robin, Fly” -- November 29, 1975
"Fly, robin, fly/ Up up to the sky" are the lyrics to this song. Over and over again. It's plastic Euro-disco and it is bad. Not danceable, no reason to listen to it, no reason for it to exist. I can only think that large amounts of cocaine were involved in this becoming a hit.
The Staple Singers – “Let’s Do It Again” -- December 27, 1975
It's another sleepy sex song, but this one is by a band with three sisters and their father. Their father sings on this track too. Apparently he didn't want to, and I wish he'd stuck by that, because ew.
BEST OF 1975 -- "Lady Marmalade" by LaBelle and "Shining Star" by Earth, Wind and Fire WORST OF 1975 -- "Island Girl" by Elton John

Their Hero Academia - Chapter 73: Summer Shorts Part 2
Presenting the next installment of my on-going, nextgen, MHA fic! Earlier chapters can be found here
Mika Mineta in A Breath of Fresh Air
Mika was in a good mood. Of course, she was usually in a good mood, but today was cause for an extra good mood.  There were multiple reasons for this.  The first reason was the string of texts she’d gotten yesterday, from Chihiro and Shiro.  Apparently things had gotten very threat-mantic when the two of them had met at the playground near their houses and Shiro had ended up asking Chihiro out on a date, after passionately kissing her (Whether this was on purpose or on accident depended upon who was telling the story.).  Or possibly tricked Chihiro into asking him out.  The two accounts conflicted and she wasn’t sure which one of them she believed.
Okay, that was a lie. She believed Chihiro.  Shiro was honest, but would absolutely take the opportunity to spin any interpretation to his advantage, given half a chance.  But he was well intentioned no matter what he did, even if he was occasionally misguided.
She’d spent the better part of yesterday dealing with competing texts between the two.  She’d come dangerously close to responding to the “wrong” person a couple of times as she offered advice.  That would have been a total disaster.  Funny, but also a total disaster.
And she truly was happy for the two of them.  Shiro was finally snapping back from his crisis of faith and for all his other faults, Shiro was a master at supporting his friends, something that Chihiro desperately needed after the Final Exam.  It would probably loosen them both of up.  Chi was a lot of fun and she could usually be roped into Mika’s plans, but both of them dipped into “why are you like this?” territory.
Lots of people around here did, truth be told.  Weird.
Of course, it wasn’t the only reason she was happy.  As glad as she was to see two of her friends maybe getting together, it paled in comparison to the advancement of her own love life.  After two months, Shinji was finally ungrounded!  And he was coming to see her! They’d texted plenty, talked on the phone a bunch, and even video-chatted a little (and she’d sent him several scandalous pictures of her in her bikini from the island trip), but none of that compared to actually getting to see him in person again!
She never thought she’d be the long distance relationship type, but she’d found she really, truly liked Shinji.  He was boisterous and had pecs you could crack a walnut on, and genuinely fun to be around.  Plus he was nearly as into everyone as she was, so he made for great people watching.  But he was also thoughtful and funny and one of the few guys who weren’t put off by how aggressive she was.  And sure, she flirted with people like there was no tomorrow.  But almost no one ever flirted back.  She got cat-called sometimes, which was a confidence booster, sure, but Shinji actually acknowledged her hotness while also respecting the smart and sophisticated lady she was!  He liked who she was and didn’t try to tell her to tone it down.
It was really a shame he went to school all the way on the other side of Japan, with the grounding on top of that.
Now she just needed to get out of the apartment.
Carefully, and mindful of her horns, Mika poked her head out her bedroom door.  She looked left and right down the hall, before finally looking down.  Looking down was an important part of scouting around.  Daddy was short and could easily hide in blind spots, not to mention he was deceptively sneaky when he wanted to be.
Mika let out a sigh of relief when she saw that the hallway was empty.  Mom and Daddy were both home, so she needed to be careful.  Mom was taking a midday shift at her Agency and Daddy had a rare day off.  Since his Agency with Uncle Denki was a small one, they put in a lot of hours collectively, but traded off on every other weekend.
Fortunately, the only occupant of the hallway was Hot Dog, the family dachshund.  He gave her a doggy-grin from his basket, tail wagging. Mika pressed a finger to her lips. He seemed to get the hint.
Hooves weren’t made for silence, and Mika was deadly aware of the sound of hers on their wood floors as she stepped into the hallway.  Carefully and oh so slowly, she started to make her way to the door.
“And just where you are going, young lady?”
Shit!
“Oh!” she said, looking to where he was standing in the living room, arms crossed.  “Hi, Daddy.”
***
“Don’t “Hi Daddy,” me,” Daddy said.  “Where do you think you’re going, dressed like that? Don’t you know you’re going to give people the wrong idea?!”
Honestly, her white and blue t-shirt with SUGOI DEKAI stretched across the chest was one of the more conservative things in her closet.  Not that Daddy knew about that.   No, all the really exciting stuff was hidden on the top shelf, where he could neither see nor reach.  She’d somehow managed to avoid having him see her in her Hero costume, which was probably going to be a problem one day, but that was a future-Mika problem.  It wasn’t significantly worse than Granny’s first costume, so maybe she could argue her case that way…
“What’s wrong with how I’m dressed?” she asked, giving him her best innocent look.  It had taken a lot of practice to get it exactly right. He was the only person that look actually worked on, but he was also the only person it actually needed to work on, so that was all right.
“Aw, Princess,” Daddy said, his resolve already starting to crack.  He smiled a wobbly smile.  “I’m just worried about you!  All those nasty, perverted boys out there, they see that and they’re just going to think…”
“Yes, Daddy?” she asked, as though she had no idea what the slogan on her shirt was referring to or how it was supposed to draw the eye.  She batted her own eyelashes at him.  “What’re they going to think?”
Daddy’s resolve was cracking even further.  “They’re going to think…”   He made vague gestures in the air.  “And I know you’re not like that, but they’re still going to just think they can…”   His hand dropped to his side.   “Aw, don’t make me say it, Princess!  I’m just worried about you!  Boys are awful!  They’ll do anything if they think they have half a chance with a girl!  It’s a nasty world out there for my little girl!”
“I’m taller than you, Daddy,” she told him, her voice all sing-song.  It was an old refrain, long practiced and useful for disarming him.
“Aw, you know what I mean…”
Mika giggled and smiled. Sometimes, Daddy was just too easy to manipulate.  He just couldn’t help but still see her as this innocent little girl.  She wasn’t exactly sure how anyone could possibly be that blind, but as long as she could keep using it to get away with things, she wasn’t exactly going to complain about it.
“Where are you going, though?” came a voice from the kitchen. Mom gave her a “don’t take advantage of Dad like that” look as she entered the room and Mika instantly stood up a little straighter.  Mom was a lot sharper than Daddy when it came to her shenanigans.  She was going to have to be careful here.
She looked between Mom and Daddy. Both were expectantly looking at her, waiting for an answer.  Nope, there was no getting out of this one.  “I was going downtown,” she said.  “To meet a friend.”  There wasn’t a lie in there.  She was still on safe footing.
“Oh?” Daddy asked, seeming to relax a little. As far as he knew, Shinji was still grounded. “Chihiro again?”
Mika could start to feel herself sweating nervously.  She really didn’t want to outright lie to Daddy…  “Oh, well, you see…”
Mom seemed to pick up on her nervousness, fortunately.  Her expression changed quickly, passing through surprise to understanding very quickly. “Oh!” she said, “would you look at the time!”  She gave Daddy a wink.  “You know, Minny, I bet we’ve got just enough time before I have to leave for work…”
People always thought Mom was so innocent, but she certainly had her wilder side.
Daddy’s eyes went a little wide and then he smiled.  “Have a good day, Princess!  Say hi to Chihiro!”  And then he grabbed Mom’s hand and the both of them were sprinting to the back of the house.”
Mika just laughed to herself as she headed out the door.
***
“Shinji!” Before Mika could blink, Shinji scooped her up into a big hug, spinning her around.  It was an impressive feat, given that between horns, hooves, and denser than average musculature, she was actually a good bit heavier than she looked (Chihiro would probably roll her eyes at that and make a sarcastic comment about most of her weight being in her bra). For at least a moment, they both ignored the stares of everyone around them, including an old woman who sniffed disdainfully at the public display of affection.
“Oh, I’ve missed you, Mika!” Shinji said, laughing as he set her down.  She really wanted just to hug him again, to be pressed up against his muscular chest.  Maybe they’d moved a bit quickly, but they had a lot of fun.  And if people had a problem with the PDAs, well, that was their issue, not hers.  She was who she was, completely unapologetically.
“Missed you too,” she told him, stretching up to give him a peck on the cheek.  It was rare for guys to be taller than her, even if you discounted the horns, but Shiji managed it almost as gloriously as Shoji did.  “You get even more hunky while you were grounded? Or is this just one of those spouses in prison things?”
Shinji laughed again. Even in his casual clothing, he still wore his Shiketsu cap.  She did love a man in uniform.  “I don’t know about that, but I know you are even hotter than the last time I saw you!”
Mika was used to compliments.  But she was also sure that Shinji genuinely meant them.  There wasn’t an ounce of duplicity in his big, beautiful body.
“I still can’t believe your mom grounded you for two months,” she said, as they walked down the street.  He held her hand and it made her giddier than the entirety of the stack of magazines that definitely weren’t hidden under her mattress.  “I thought I was never going to see you again!  Do you know how awful that was?!”
Shinji looked away awkwardly.  “Yeah, well, she was kind of right.  I really could have gotten in a lot more trouble!  I left school, used my Quirk in action without a license, if there hadn’t been everything going on, who knows what could have happened!”
Definitely not fair! Shinji had just been worried about her and his other friends, like Shinso, Todoroki, and Kirishima-Bakugo. Sure, he’d been incredibly lucky to have found Kirishima-Bakugo by flying around randomly.  And sure, the Nomu possibly could have killed him if he’d engaged it directly…  But his heart had been in the right place!  And he’d helped Kirishima-Bakugo save Uravity!
What good were the rules if a guy got in trouble for that?
He looked back over and threw his head back and laughed.  It was a huge, booming sound.  “I actually got off easy!  She wanted to ground me for a year, but Dad talked her out of it!”
Mika felt her heart drop. “A year?!”  She shook her head.  “I’ve have waited for you, Babe.  I mean, I’d probably also have seen other people, but I’d also have waited for you.”  Their relationship didn’t have many rules.  But the biggest one was that if they saw an opportunity, they should take it. Both of them were far too much for any one person.
She was far more than a snack.  She was a party platter that served six to eight.
“Aw, that’s so sweet!” Shinji’s expression shifted rapidly though, back to awkward again.  “Speaking of Mom…”
“What?” she asked.
“She would like to meet you,” Shinji said.  He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.  “Sooner rather than later, actually.”
Wait, what?  Mika lost her footing, her hoof hitting the ground awkwardly and nearly sending her tumbling to the ground.  Fortunately, Shinji still had her hand, and he used his grip to pull her close to him, putting his other arm around her in the process.
“Mika!”  Shinji shouted worriedly.  “Are you all right?”
“F…fine,” she told him. She looked up into his eyes and felt herself blush.  How was it that this guy could make her heart melt like that?  She looked down for a moment.  “And not that I mind, but your hand is really close to my…”
“Holy hurricanes!” he said, quickly moving the offending appendage.  He stared at his hand like it had betrayed him.  “Babe, I am so sorry, I would never…”
“You would and you know it,” she teased.  “You’d just ask me first.”
Still, her boyfriend’s mom wanting to meet her was worrisome.  She’d already met Shinji’s dad, back at the Sports Festival, and he seemed to like her well enough, but dads… dads were easy.  It was moms where things got complicated.  They were usually a lot more on the ball.  If Shinji’s mom wanted to meet her… was that a good sign?
Her own parents seemed to like Shinji.  Mom found both him and his dad delightful.  And Daddy had tried to put the fear of him into Shinji.  Shinji had been a perfect gentleman and insisted that he wouldn’t do anything she wasn’t comfortable with.  It wasn’t her fault if Daddy thought she was more innocent than she was.
But what if Shinji’s mom didn’t like her?  What if she thought she was a trollop after her only son?!  What if she made a bad impression and she couldn’t see Shinji anymore?!  The only other mom she’d ever had to impress was Shiro’s, and there probably wasn’t anyone out there Tsukushi didn’t like!  This was entirely too much pressure!
“Why’s your mom want to meet me?” she asked.  “Didn’t your dad give a glowing report after the Sports Festival?”
Shinji looked uncomfortable again.  “Yes, well,” he said, rubbing the buzzed side of his head, “even though Dad likes you, she really just, ah, wants to see what kind of person you are.  You were going pretty full out during the Sports Festival and all and she just wants to see how much of that was all psychological tactics…”  He frowned. “There’s more… but I’m really not allowed to say.  I am so sorry, Babe!”
“Oh,” she said.  She’d made considerable in-roads during the Sports Festival by running her mouth non-stop and basically being herself.  As Shiro always liked to say, her real talent was provocation.  She couldn’t help it if people found her natural personality irritating!  On the other hand, openly flirting with just about everything that moved probably didn’t exactly engrain you to your boyfriend’s mom either…
The “not allowed to say” bit was also concerning.
“I know she’ll love you!” Shinji said, smiling again.  A small amount of the optimism appeared forced, but it largely looked like it was genuine.
“You’re not afraid she’s going to think I’m too much?” she asked.  Mika had almost never worried about what other people thought of her before, other than in the broadest sense when she was hitting on somebody and hoping they’re reciprocate. But she absolutely, one hundred percent, desperately wanted Shinji’s mom to like her.
“Even if she somehow doesn’t,” he said, “even if I have to sneak out every time I want to see you, even if she forbids me from every laying eyes upon your heavenly hotness, I will find a way!  I’ll… I’ll even learn to lie, if I have to!” He had let go of her hand and his hands were on his hips now, posing dramatically.  She was pretty sure the small wind that had kicked up was also him.
Mika’s jaw dropped open. “Babe, you are so hot right now.”
Shinji just grinned at that. “I mean it.  Every word!”
Damn, if she didn’t just want to do all kinds of things to him…
***
As they continued to walk, again holding hands, Shinji spoke up once more.  “You know, with all the craziness, you never did get to tell me how flirting with Flash-Step worked out.”
Mika rolled her eyes, thinking back on her Internship with Ingenium and his plethora of lesser Heroes, Sidekicks, and Work Study participants.  “Not good.  She called me kid.  Even though she’s only two years older than me!”
“Suffering Cyclones!” Shinji wailed.  “That’s terrible!”
“Turns out she’s dating Nejire Togata anyway,” Mika went on.  “And as much as I’d love to be in the middle of that hotness sandwich, it doesn’t look like they’re interested in sharing.”
“Aw, man!” he said. “I’m so sorry, Babe!”
She waved it off. “Hey, you miss one hundred percent of the shots you don’t take.  Sooner or later, it works out.”
She went on. “Speaking of working out… how’d your Sports Festival work out?”  Shiketsu did theirs later in the first term than U.A. did, nearly right before their final exams, and like most other Hero Schools, it wasn’t broadcast.  Mika didn’t really get why that was, but she wasn’t going to question it.
Shinji let go to pose again. There was definitely a dramatic wind.  “Second Place!  I would have gotten first, but Tatsuma’s dragon power was simply too much to overcome! I may as well have been trying to blow down a mountain!”
Mika clapped happily. “That is awesome, Shinji!  We’re both second placers!  It’s kismet, I know.”   She wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug, then bounced up to kiss him again.
“You know, you never did tell me where we were going.”
Shinji laughed again. “We’re actually already there!” He pointed in front of them.  A large arch stood there, with a sign that read Pasaana Air Park.   As she looked up, she could see all sorts of people flying through the air via all kinds of Quirks.
“Huh?” she asked.
“It’s a place where people with Quirks that let them fly can practice or play!” Shinji explained. Mika knew there were special “air lanes” used by civilians in bigger cities, for commuting via flight, and they could file a flight path for special occasions, but she hadn’t realized there were recreational facilities too.
“Mika,” Shinji said, with an expansive gesture, “how would you like to fly?”
Best boyfriend ever.

Koharu Kocho in Perilous Partying
“Mom, I’m back!” Koharu called out, as she opened the door to her apartment. She swung her wings forward so they wouldn’t get caught in the door as it shut behind her. “I got the fruit juices!”  Mom had insisted they needed more fruit juices in the house and had dispatched her on an errand to the corner store to go get some.  They did go through a lot of it, truthfully, considering that she, her mom, and little brother, Hiroto, all required either a liquid or semi-liquid diet. Dad and her older sister, Okimi, did not.
“Thanks, sweetie,” Mom called out from the living room.  “Can you put them away and then come in here please?”  That was... suspicious.  That was the same tone of voice she used whenever she was going to spring a new chore on her.
After stashing the juices in the fridge, Koharu headed into the living room.
“SURPRISE!” a chorus of voices rang out, startling her.  Her eyes widened in shock as she looked around the room.   There were her parents and siblings, her uncle who worked for Deku and aunt, her grandfather, and even Mogura and Tokuda.  There were drinks laid out and a cake and a banner on the wall reading “Congratulations, Hero!”
“What?” she said. “What’s all this?”
Mom smiled, her large compound eyes glittering, smallish wings carefully folded behind her.    “You didn’t think we were going to let you go off to Hero training without a party, did you?”
“But we already did that,” she protested. Her antennae flipped up in confusion, trying to sense if anything else was hidden somewhere.  “Back before I did my Internship.”
Dad laughed at that.  He was extremely normal looking, the Moth Quirks all coming from Mom’s side of the family.  His own Quirk was a simple one that made him immune to all toxins and poisons. Useful in a house full of people that sometimes shed paralytic, soporific, or poisonous scales.  “You’re right, we did. But that was just our little family. And with the term over and you having passed your exams…”
“We had to have a party!” Hiroto declared, flapping his own wings hard and fluttering around head height. His Quirk was basically identical to hers.  And ever since she’d made it into the Hero Course, he’d been talking non-stop about being a Hero himself someday.  She’d had to remind him he was only six and had plenty of time to decide what he wanted to be.  But if he did choose that path, she’d support him however she could.
“Down, kiddo,” Okimi said, grabbing his ankle and pulling their brother back down to floor level. She had the same kind of multicolored hair that Koharu did, but other than her own set of feathery antennae, had no other moth-like features or abilities.  “He is right though,” she said.  “We’re all proud of you, Fluters.”
Koharu smiled, despite the childish nickname.  Becoming a Hero had been her dream ever since she was a little girl.  She remembered how devastated she’d felt when she gotten knocked out during the Entrance Exam and how proud she’d felt when she’d taken Third Place during the Sports Festival.  Then there’d been the Internship (With Deku and the Voice, no less! What was her life?), even if that had ended pretty scarily, and getting to observe Class 1-A’s Final Exam.  She’d moved all her things out of her General Education dorm and they’d just finished shopping for her supply list for the Training Camp just a couple of days ago.  She’d be leaving for the Training Camp on Monday.
It was all so close she could practically taste it.  And yet it still also had an unreal quality to it, as though it could all fade back into the mist of just being a dream at any moment.
Yet having her family and friends here also made in strangely real.  There were real people who believed her.  It was both sobering and buoying at the same time.
“Thank you,” she said. “All of you.”
***
“Koharu,” Grandfather said, his voice wispy and wheezy, “I am very proud of you.”
She looked up from her smoothie, which had been made with the same flavors as the cake, slowly retracting her proboscis.  Her grandfather had a number of moth-like mutations, with very little human about his appearance at all; he looked more like a giant-sized moth that had learned to walk upright.  His body and fuzz were dark black, his eyes blazing red.
“Thank you,” she said.
“You’re going to make a fine Hero,” he said.  He’d said that once before, and she believed him.  Despite the numerous and significant inherited mutations, Granfather’s actual Quirk was called Prophesy, which let him see unspecified distances into the future at random intervals.  He always complained that it was more trouble than it was worth, though he tried to report what he could to the authorities when he thought it necessary.
“Is this one of your visions?” she asked.  She knew he didn’t have control over his visions or what or who they showed him, but it was still possible he’d seen something about her.
Grandfather chuckled at that, shaking his large head.  “Nothing quite so spectacular,” he said.  “No, this Quirk of mine rarely shows me good things.  But you’re a strong, determined young woman.  I’d expect nothing less of you.”
His face wasn’t really built for expressions, but there was a certain degree of sadness to his body language now.  “You’re very lucky, you know,” he went on.  “When I was a young man, Mutant-type Quirks weren’t looked on as kindly as they are now.  Groups like the Creature Rejection Clan were everywhere.  I had many friends who were struck down far too young, simply for appearing “monstrous” to others’ eyes.”  She knew his early life had been hard.  He’d already been an adult by the time All Might had made his debut.  Every history book she’d ever read had suggested those had been dark and often lawless times.  Grandfather’s body sagged for a moment before his head snapped up. “To know that one of my family is going to prove all those bastards wrong…  It does bring joy to this old man’s heart.”
She nodded solemnly. “I’ll do my best. I hope I can be worthy of your pride.”
Grandfather’s large eyes seemed to shine brightly for a moment and he reached out to gently brush her cheek with his forelimb.  “I know you will.”
***
“Your grandfather’s right,” Tokuda said, her large, singular eye blinking slowly.  She brushed a strand of purple hair back.  “We’re all super-proud of you!
Mogura frowned, pushing her glasses back up her mole-like snout.  “It’s really happening, isn’t it?  You’re leaving us.”  She tapped her clawed fingers against each other.  “I knew it was going to happen but... I’m going to miss you so much!”
Mogura and Tokuda were her best friends in her class, but she cared for all of her 1-F classmates. She’d miss seeing them regularly. There was the way Uzaki was constantly teasing Sakurai over his loner tendencies, how Asai was constantly “shipping” everyone (Koharu made a mental note to introduce her to Ojiro sometime), and the way Tomoatsu was constantly looking out for everyone’s health by trying to get them to exercise more.  She’d miss Miku’s anime obsession. She’d even miss Kurusu’s accident-proneness and how he somehow missed getting injured due to his regenerative Quirk.  And yeah, if forced to admit it, she would miss their overly cautious Class Representative, Satome.
“Tell you what,” she said, “I’ll be moving into the 1-A dorm a couple days before the new term starts. Why don’t both of you come by and help me unpack and get stuff set up?  I’ll introduce you to everybody.  I think you’ll like them.  Pretty sure they’ll like you too.”
She gave that a little thought.  “Well, maybe not Kirishima-Bakugo.  But I’m not sure she likes that many people to begin with.”  The explosive girl seemed to like Todoroki and Midoriya, but only seemed to tolerate the rest of 1-A.
“You mean it?” Mogura asked, her eyes wide behind her glasses.  “The Hero Courses don’t usually mix with Gen Ed.”
Koharu nodded firmly. “They’re over with the Support Course kids all the time.  And they start meeting with the Business and Management Course in their second year.  It’s about damn time they started hanging out with us too.  Not just the ones who transfer.”
“You said “us,’” Tokuda said.  “You’re a Hero student now.  You’re a ‘them.’”
Koharu shook her head, setting her antennae swaying.  She brought a hand up to steady them before she made herself dizzy. How could Tokuda say something like that?  She wasn’t just going to give up on her friends like that!  “I’m not,” she insisted.  “I’m still one of us.  I’m still your friend.”
“We wouldn’t be here if you weren’t,” Tokuda said.  She’d been enthusiastic before, hearing that Koharu had gotten to work with Deku and the Voice.  But she seemed more depressed about the whole thing now that it was so close and a little more real.  “But your life is going to change, in a big way.  Hero Course students train more and work harder than any of the other courses. We all know that.  You’ll be around them all the time, whatever free time you have left.  I’m happy for you, we all are, but you know it’s true.”
Mogura looked between the two of them anxiously.  “But…”
“I’m not going anywhere,” Koharu said again.  “I mean, yes, I’m moving dorms and classes.  But we’ve got friends in the other classes and courses already, right? Like Magatsuchi over in the Business Course, or Nishino over in the Support Course?  Well, I’m going to be your friend in the Hero Course, and you’re going make to make more too!  We’ve still got the same lunch and everything still too.  I’ll find you.  Lunchroom’s not that big.”
Her promise, at least, got a smile out of Mogura.  “You mean it?”
“Absolutely.”
Even Tokuda started to smile.  Koharu could see her large pupil widening.  “Okay,” she said.  “I believe you.  You passed.”
“That was a test?” Koharu snapped, annoyance rising up. Tokuda was supposed to be one of her friends.  And she was pushing her like that?  Doubting her friendship?  “What the hell, Tokuda?”
“My mom was in the same General Education class as the Voice,” Tokuda explained.  She held up her hands.  “She always said he wasn’t especially close with any of them to start with.  And training with Eraserhead ate up a lot of his time.  Then when he did join the Hero Course, he barely had any time to see them again.  And sure, some of that was because he got caught up in everything that happened to that class, but not all of it.  You’re a lot friendlier than he was… but things happen.”
Tokuda sighed.  “I just wanted to be sure that wasn’t going to happen with you.”
She frowned at that.  It made sense.  She’d had plenty of meetings with Vice-Principal Midnight and All Might, outlining the expectations of her, and a few with Mister Aizawa as well. She knew it was going to be though, that much was asked of Heroes and Hero-trainees.  But this also wasn’t the old days.  Standards were still high, but the fact that Heroes were people too, and allowed to have lives, was acknowledged.  It could be done.  But that chasm was still going to be stretching out, diving one course to the other.
It was a good thing she could fly.
“I’m not going to forget you,” she repeated.  “And you better believe it.  And if I do, you have my permission to come find me and smack me upside the head.”
“Oh,” Mogura said, “I could never do that…”
“Yeah, well, I can,” Tokuda replied.  “I’m going to hold you to that, Kocho.”
“You better,” Koharu said. Both of her friends got up to hug her, and the happily slung her arms around them, squeezing her eyes tightly shut. It was going to be tricky, but she’d figure it out.  Friends like this were too good to let go.
***
Sometimes, Koharu liked to just come up to the roof of her apartment building and watch the night sky. True, the light pollution from the city meant that it was harder to see the stars, but it was late and a clear night besides, so there was less than there would have been earlier in the evening. Some mothy part of her saw some of the distant city lights and demanded that she fly towards them, but that was an instinct that was easy enough to push down.  She liked the nighttime regardless and her Moth-powers meant that her night vision was surprisingly good.
Absently, she switched on her phone.  She’d turned it off for the party and never bothered to turn it back on afterwards.  Her dark eyes went wide as she saw how many texts she had.  There were quite a few from her General Education classmates and then…
Kimiko Ojiro: Can’t wait to see you again!  Camp besties!
Takuma Sero: Big day’s almost here!  Don’t be surprised if Aizawa pulls some kind of logical ruse on the trip up though…
Kenta Sato: Congrats again on getting in!  See you on Monday!
Toshi Midoriya: Training Camp is on Monday!  Bus leaves at 0700.  Better get there early.  Mister Aizawa REALLY likes to be punctual!  Welcome to the class!
Asuka Tokoyami:  I am sure Toshi has already reminded you of this, but the bus leaves early on Monday. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Isamu Haimawari: Hey, Internship-buddy!  Hope your summer’s going good! Mine’s been pretty crazy. Tell you all about it on Monday!
Shiro Monoma:  As much as I dislike that you’re joining 1-A, I do wish you all the success.
She shouldn’t have been surprised (though she’d forgotten she’d exchanged numbers with Monoma after beating him during the Sports Festival).  Haimawari and Midoriya had been nothing but friendly and welcoming to her during the Internship, and she’d already become friends with Ojiro, Sero, and Sato by the time the Sports Festival was over.  In fact, everyone in her new class had been very welcoming.
She was an outsider, both in that most of them had pre-existing bonds and in that they’d already been a class together for several months.  She’d come into their space and they’d welcomed her with open arms.  It would still take her time to learn their rhythms and personalities, both in and out of training, but it all meant she was off to a good start.
But the rest of the texts made her gasp.
Deku: Training Camp in a couple of days!   You’re going to be amazing, Kocho.  Don’t let Aizawa pull any “logical ruses” on you!  Really looking forward to seeing you become a great Hero!
Lemillion: Congrats again, Kocho!  Rock that Training Camp!
Shinso: Tried to get Aizawa’s plans for the Training Camp.  He told me to “mind my own business.”  I’m afraid you’re on your own.  Good luck.  You’ll need it.   Also, Camie says to say “Have a mad lit time, yo.”  If you know what that actually means, you’re smarter than I am.
Koharu smiled as she put her phone away.  She had texts from the Number One and Number Two Heroes on her phone!  She’d seen it in interviews, but it was amazing how normal and friendly Deku and Lemillion really were.  And she treasured the text from the Voice even more.  Shinso was and remained a Hero to everyone in the General Education classes with Hero-aspirations.
She spread her wings out to their fullest and flapped hard, lifting straight up into the air.  It didn’t take long for her to rise up high, where she could feel the wind whipping around her body.  She had to concentrate not to get knocked around like an insect in a hurricane. Below, she saw the city spread out before her.  It was a truly amazing view, one that few were privileged enough to share.   She liked to imagine that every one of the pinpricks of light was a person, someone with their own hopes and dreams and wishes, someone she might one day be called upon to protect.
It was both sobering and awe-inspiring at the same time.
Carefully, Koharu began her decent.  Down was always harder than up, a bit of controlled falling really.  She wasn’t sure what to expect the future to bring, not the Training Camp in the immediate future or the Hero Course in general, but she felt good about it.  It would be challenging, she knew.  It would likely push her to the breaking point and then ask her to go beyond.  But this was what she had dreamed of since she was a little girl.
It was a dream that had very nearly been crushed.  Hard work and a little bit of luck had gotten her a second chance.
It was time to make that dream a reality.

Thoughts/ reaction to AWAE 3x8
I’m honestly afraid of what I might see in this episode. I have been crying almost all week at the mere thought of what last episode did to Anne and Diana and Jerry, and I’m 100% ready to get that all resolved - but I’m afraid it might not happen. Also, with the Shirbert on-off-on-off pattern that has been going on this season, my hopes aren’t very high for those two. Here’s hoping my worries are in vain.
Ka’kwet is back. Unfortunately, she’s not back, if you know what I mean. I hope she gets out of that place - the “White Man’s Burden School”, as I call it - sooner.
That nun is not acting like a good Christian. Tragically, that is what people really were like - and in some places still are - to people of colour. This cold open is truly nightmarish. I’m starting to fear my worries were not in vain and that I, and the whole fandom as a community, have been set up for much more suffering than any one of us might have expected.
Looks like Ka’kwet will be back after all. That girl’s really smart, but she’s been through a lot. I hope things might be better for her back at home.
I see things are still awfully tense between Anne and Diana - and “tense” doesn’t even begin to describe it. I hope this hot mess is resolved by next week - at most.
I should have been ready for the sight of the schoolhouse burnt to ashes. But I don’t think anything could have prepared me for Anne’s reaction to it. Now I’m crying. I know this is supposed to be a symbol for the end of their childhood or something, but it’s still as devastating as we feared it would be, and then some.
Once again Miss Stacy proves that the world needs more teachers, nay, more people, like her. Managing to find a silver lining and turn the situation around when she was clearly just as devastated as anyone - that was a true heroic act if you ask me.
Wait, where is Anne going?
But of course, she’s immediately holding accountable for the situation whoever she thinks should be held accountable - in this case, Rachel Lynde. Interestingly, she didn’t even know what happened. I mean, she was the only woman in a council of men who tried to speak for her fellow women, wasn’t she? Rachel did some good last episode and she is not at fault for that vile act of cowardice and whatever else Miss Stacy called it.
How is Ka’kwet supposed to find her way back to Avonlea? Is she even going to get back home? I’m worried for my girl.
Everybody being just crammed at Miss Stacy’s is the type of atmosphere and environment that just calls for something bonding and intimate to happen... and Shirbert are there, sitting together, talking... this is like a direct continuation of the porch scene from last episode. I might be clowning, but I think the loop has been broken. Or we might be in for a bigger step backwards next time. I’m clowning.
Bash’s mum seeing Delly warms my heart. We need more wholesome scenes and less suffering. But we’re probably not getting any of that.
Ok, Ruby really is over Gilbert, so much that it’s like she was never “under” him. The fact that she can now talk to Anne about him and Winnifred - right in his face, at that, is a huge step away from the years and years of crushing. Also, she’s totally right that a person can be studious and romantic at the same time. But I’m not sure our Gil here is the best example of it.
I sense some parallels between the scene with the class at the Green Gables barn and this scene at Miss Stacy’s - teasing Gilbert about his “fiance” while Anne is listening reminds me painfully of the “does he have  a farm girl” comment about Jerry. And the Anne/ Diana parallel this creates is just pouring salt in the wound their fight gave me last week.
The framing in the next scene is beautiful and reminds me of Shirbert, but I think that’s the only beautiful and romantic thing about it.
Jerry just won’t stop saying “I’m not good enough for you”, and, frankly, he shouldn’t. I just hoped he’d say more. What I really wanted from this episode was for him to give Diana a piece of his mind on the way she made him feel last episode.
“Rude and aggressive”? Jerry? I don’t think so. I didn’t really blame Diana for the way she acted last time, but I do blame her for even thinking that. Is he not allowed to have his own feelings and express them? And what is wrong with telling Anne? If anything, it was wrong of both of them not to tell her sooner. She’s supposed to be Diana’s bosom friend and Jerry’s sister, for goodness’s sake! It shouldn’t have taken hurt feelings to finally let her in on the way things are; or rather were, as they’re certainly not anymore. I can’t believe I’m saying it. but maybe it’s for the better. Even if multiple hearts, including mine, got broken in the process. For something to be fixed, it first must be broken, some say. Then so be it.
Aunt Jo is in Avonlea? Things just got better. And she wants Diana to take the Queens exam. I think she should, too. But it breaks my heart again that she’s apparently not brave enough to try and fulfil her potential. So she was bold enough to kiss Jerry at the fair, thus leading both him and herself on, but not to fight for her own future? I love her and I just can’t sit and watch her do that to herself. But why am I doing this to myself, then?
Mrs. LaCroix acting like a servant and calling Gilbert “Mr. Blythe, sir” was very awkward to watch - for me and Gilbert alike, it seems. But I sort of understand why she did that. Except it’s not making me feel better. It makes me feel worse, if anything. Because I knew she was acting that way because Gilbert is white and she’s not. And that’s not alright. That she’s lived in a society that thought that was alright, was wrong. I hope things get better.
“Uncle Gilby”... Bash has me rolling on the floor laughing once again. And Delphine is still the cutest - she can’t do much more than be cute yet, can she? But I hope she gets to hear a certain love confession about Anne soon. That is the wholesome content we need in these trying times.
Oh my, Ka’kwet, get off that rail! I feel like a worried young mother with this kid. One thing I sure am, and it’s worried. I hope she’ll be safe.
The contrast between the awkwardly stiff atmosphere at the Barry house and the high-level pressure of the class is starker than that between day and night. That’s poetic cinema alright.
Wait, Diana’s doing it! Is my girl back? My girl’s back. I think. I don’t want to get my hopes up too high.
So Gilbert never returned Anne’s pen? I can see why. But it put her in a really uncomfortable position. I’ve been there, and I don’t need to tell you what going into an important exam without the proper tools can do to a student’s psyche. But I know Anne knows better than to let that get to her in this very important moment.
Last episode’s climax left a very big impression on both Rachel and Marilla, didn’t it now?
Are they trying to push Bash and Miss Stacy? I think it would be highly inappropriate. First of all because I don’t think Bash is ready to remarry at all - he might as well never be - and second of all because I don’t think Muriel Stacy of all women needs a man. And I ship her with Prissy now, but that’s another story.
Now that’s another feeling I know all too well - finishing your exams and celebrating your freedom. And I’m glad Diana got to be part of that. I just hope she and Anne can make up soon. That’s pretty much all I can think of.
If Winnie loves Paris so much, let her go to Paris. She shouldn’t need a man for that. Certainly not one whose mind has been occupied by one girl since the day he first saw her. I ship Shirbert as much as the next person and then some, but I also don’t want Winnie’s heart to be broken at the end of all this. She’s a nice girl. She deserves better. Let her go to Paris. No need to drag Gilbert into this for too long.
Let me tell you, Anne’s hair flying loose, lit by the fire, is pure  poetry. If I were Gilbert in that scene, I would propose on the spot. But we know that’s not happening.
Anne’s not making any sense and if this were any other couple in a similar setting, this is where he would shut her up with a kiss... but I’m clowning, ain’t I?
“Will you marry me?” Shirbert, and the ring and the dictionary, and the parallels... I’m nearly speechless. Why can’t they just spit it out? Does Gilbert have to go through with the proposal for the final realisation to come?
And... here we are. Except - we’re really not. “My Aunt is visiting me”. That felt like a firm step back on Diana’s part. Will they ever make up? Or will I have to cry for another week straight at just the thought of everything that played out?
Leave it to Aunt Jo to dish out wisdom... hope she can help Anne in this situation, or else the entirety of Shirbert might be at stake.
“Asked Anne”? You didn’t ask anything. You just made her more confused than ever and now she feels this great responsibility about her whole life and yours, too. You shouldn’t have made her feel that way. But I can’t blame you. You two are the two most confused individuals I’ve seen in a long time. But I love you both the way you are. And I know you’ll get there someday.
“She said no”. Seriously, Blythe, were you and I listening to the same girl talk last night? Because I never heard her say no. Or yes. Or give any kind of cohesive answer to the big question you DIDN’T ASK!
Rachel and Marilla are really doing that, aren’t they? And Rachel all cool pouring water while serving one of the most delightfully ironic of ironic echoes I’ve ever seen... “No need to be hysterical”! Ha! #started from the bottom #now we’re here
My, my! Ka’kwet has been through quite the journey... but she’s finally home. Wonder what will happen when the “whites” find out, though.
Goodness! Minnie May’s really had it, hasn’t she? Honestly, it was about time someone in that family said something about the lives they lead - it was time someone told it like it is, and... why did I actually expect it to be Minnie May? Why does this little girl have to do the grown-ups’ job? I guess it’s just the way of the world. I just hope this doesn’t end in disaster.
Okay, I’ve been waiting for this all week, and it’s even more beautiful than I could have imagined. Far more beautiful.
Wow, that was some realisation! “I’m in love with Gilbert Blythe”. Took you long enough, Anne! Now go do something about it before it’s way too late. Gosh, we will be clowning so hard next week.
To sum up what we saw in this episode: Ka’kwet finally escapes the “White Man’s Burden” school of nightmares and takes the long road home; lots of tension between Anne and Diana; the school is ashes and those responsible for it aren’t getting away; Gilbert thinks he’s sure about Winnifred; Derry is dead; lots of parallels, all heavy on Shirbert; Bash’s mum “knows her place” - or does she really?; Diana takes the exams with zero preparation (respect!); Rachel and Marilla tear down the patriarchy; Minnie May does the grown-ups’ job; DiAnne is back; Anne sets us all up for a lot of clowning.

Car Chats (Violentine AU)
Title: Car Chats
Pairing: Clementine x Violet.
Summary: After coming out to Lee, Clementine finally thinks it’s time to introduce him to Violet and after that, the two girls sit in the car and have an important chat.
Credit: @3amgameover he gave me the idea bc he’s a sweetie, thank you jasper ily you’re the best husband!!!!
Warnings: Awkward, probably bad writing it’s 5 am, that’s all (:
A/n: my entire time being in this fandom and writing fanfics for clementine and Louis I’ve always said I wanted to write for her and Violet, I want to do this before the game is over so sit back... relax or whatever and enjoy the little story of our babies. Sorry if this is bad, I’m not really good at this pft.
-
The keys jingle in Clementine's hand every so slightly as she takes them out of the ignition, a nervous breath leaving her lips just a bit before her hazel eyes glance over at the girl who she’s been dating in secrecy for months sitting beside her with the same tense look as her own. Today was the day, shit. It was happening. You know, it was hard coming out to Lee but Clementine couldn’t help but feel like this’ll be even harder to handle. She knows he understands and supports her, but she was scared that something was going to go wrong. “A-Are you nervous?” She questions, looking over at Violet. The blonde girl looks at her and timidly nods, gulping as she runs her sweaty palms over her jeans. “Wait, that’s a stupid question... Obviously— I’m sorry.“ Clementine continues, frowning ever so slightly before looking away.
“No, no... don’t apologize. This is weird.” Violet finally speaks up, a reassuring tone in her voice before she nudges Clementine in the arm ever so slightly with a little smile. To say that it didn’t want to make Clementine fall to the ground and die because she’s so in love was an understatement, staring at her girlfriend with heart eyes basically. “I’m a good way, though. A good way, not bad.” She adds onto it quickly, Clementine letting out a little chuckle in reply.
“Y-Yeah~! A good way, but uh...” she scratches the back of her neck and looks away from Violet who was watching her, that smile still on her face. “We should go in, right? He’s probably wondering what we’re doing.” Clementines voice was soft and calmer than normal, she was trying to make it look like she wasn’t nervous as hell but Violet could tell by the look in her eyes.
Violet just nods a little, sucking in a deep breath and looks at the front porch of the house before at Clem who was still trying to muster up the courage to get out of the car. It takes them a little bit of bribing and a lot of talking before Clementine finally opens the door to her car and gets out, shutting the door and walking over to Violets side. Clementine insisted that she get the door for her, she wanted to be like those guys in those cheesy romantic movies and god, it was working. The blonde couldn’t help but roll her eyes playfully, waiting in the passenger side while Clementine stumbles her way and opens the door with a grin— holding her hand out for Violet to grab.
“Did you really have to do that?” She queries as she slowly shuts the door with her free hand, tilting her head to the side ever so slightly before gently grabbing Clementine's hand and hopping out. Clementine just smiles, shrugging her shoulders.
“I won’t do it again if you don’t want me to, I see couples do it all the time and I—“ she’s stopped by her girlfriend's laughter, a blush forming on her cheeks. Violet pulls their held hands up and kisses the back of Clementines sweetly, Clementine freezing even more.
“You don’t have to do that for me Clem, but it was sweet of you~” She replies softly, giving Clementine a look. Violet felt as if her knees were going to give out, she wasn’t just nervous to meet Lee... she was nervous for what she was going to do after the supper was done and over with. It was a big deal, but she needed Clementine to know her true feelings and she couldn’t hold it in anymore. “Let’s go, we shouldn’t keep him waiting any longer.” The brunette stares at her with a soft look on her face, thinking just a little bit before snapping out of her daze and hastily nodding her head. Clementine squeezes Violet's hand gently as a type of way to say ‘everything’ll be fiine~’, and she truly knew it would be.
To say that it wasn’t awkward, was wrong. But it’s always awkward when you have dinner for the first time with your girlfriend's parents so Violet didn’t really look into much, she really liked Lee though. Before the whole dinner thing, she thought Lee would be weird about it, but he was actually totally normal which, to be honest was knew for her. It was nice. Having to deal with homophobic people all the time kinda made her forget that there are actually adults who don’t see anything wrong with gay/bisexual people.
Violet thought a lot about it the ride home with Clementine, the whole time they had their hands locked together while the music played on the radio and when the girl she loved oh so much parked the car, Violet remembered something. “Uh, Clem~ Can I tell you something?” She asks nervously, scratching the back of her neck ever so slightly. Violet purses her lips as Clementine looks over with a tiny smile and gives her a questioning look.
“Yeah, anything.” She nods. “What is it?” Clementine couldn’t tell what Violet was thinking as she watched her. Violet silently told herself in her mind that she could do it, but a part of her was terrified. She was so scared that Clementine didn’t have the same feelings, it was obvious she did but sometimes people fake things... she didn’t know if she could handle it if Clementine was faking.
“I— Er, I don’t know.,” she mumbles out, slowly taking her hand out of Clementine's grasp. Violet shifts in the seat of the car so she’s able to face Clementine all the way, while she’s doing that she thinks of all the words she could possibly say. “It’s just... You. You’re so perfect and pretty and you drive me absolutely crazy, in a good way of course but I think—“ Violet wasn’t good at this, she was never good at this not even with Minnie. “No, I know.” She shakes her head, stopping herself.
Clementines mouth opens to speak but she has no words, leaning in forward just a little bit to tell her girlfriend to keep talking. “I love you, so much, Clementine.” Violets words that slip off the tip of her tongue made Clementine freeze in her place, staring at the girl who just admitted to loving her with a shocked look.
“What? Me?” She questions out after a minute, covering her mouth. “I’m sorry I—“ Clementine didn’t know how to process words, to tell her she felt the same way so she takes in a deep breath and looks back at Violet. The blonde looked worried, scared that Clementine didn’t feel the same way. But she’s proved wrong when Clementine leans closer toward her and cups her cheek gently, tilting her head to the side and planting her lips on Violets gently.
Violets shocked by that action, but slowly and surely closes her eyes— melting into Clementine's soft lips that were becoming her addiction. When Clementine pulls back, Violet lets out a little noise from the absence of Clem’s lips on her own and opens her eyes to see Clementine looking at her with an unknown expression.
“I love you more.”

1/2 Can I share a really unpopular opinion real quick? Episode 4 was my least favorite out of the four episodes. I didn't like almost ever character was pushed to the side for Clem and AJ. Also I feel like Clem getting bit wasn't necessary for the story. We still could've played AJ to maybe shifting the focus half way through the episode. I wanted to interact more with a betrayed/blind Violet and a mute Louis. I wanted to see what Assam and Omar said about the delta.
2/2 I wanted to see how Willy was coping with Mitch's death. I wanted to see how Ruby and Assam got together. I wanted Tenn to learn the truth about Sophie. I wanted Violet/Tenn to tell us more about Minnie. I wanted more cute Clementine X Violet or Clementine X Louis moments. Maybe I was just expecting something different and my own expectations got me let down. I just wanted to share my idea's with someone and hear your thoughts. Thanks for reading all of this :)
---
Episode 4 is............. a complicated episode for me.
Like, I love parts of it. I love all the clouis moments, I love playing as AJ, the James cave scene is flippin’ wild, and as much as I scream and whine about the trust AJ choice, I like how it was different than the previous choices we made in which we didn’t think it’d lead to what it did. I like how batshit Minerva got after getting bit to hell, even though I fucking hate her for what happens on the bridge.
But I do think it is the one episode I have the most problems with, and the big one is what you said: Suddenly, everything was pushed aside to make room for Clementine getting bit.
I love the Clementine and AJ moments, and I love how many there are, but I wish we didn’t have to sacrifice moments with Louis/Violet and the other we didn’t save, as well as the other kids. I get WHY the did it because really, Clementine and AJ are the core of the story but.... still.
Y’know, I go back and forth on if they should’ve given us 5 episodes instead of 4, because then they could’ve given us all the things you mention here. BUT then what if it ended up being too drawn out and made the game less impactful?
I doubt this because if they were given the proper time and budget and assets, I firmly believe they could’ve given us 5 excellent episodes where we could’ve interacted more with blind Violet and mute Louis. We could’ve talked with Tenn more and give him the truth of what happened to Sophie. We could’ve had more interactions with the other Ericson kids. We could’ve had more sweet moments with Louis/Violet.
I’ve said this before, but I wish Clementine and AJ could’ve stayed with them for at least a week before they ran into Abel and everything Marlon did was revealed. If done right, we could’ve been presented with the first community we’ve seen that has good, solid structure and support... only to realize that it’s slowly crumbling and no one realizes it. This happened fairly quickly in what we got: We run into Abel, Brody freaks out, Marlon freaks out, truth is revealed, Marlon kills Brody, and we get the confrontation scene.
This all happens in one night.
Not only would spending a week at the school give us more time with Louis and Violet, letting the player get even more of a feel for the characters in deciding who they want Clementine to bond with, but we’d also get to see Marlon breaking more and more through time.
Hell, if they were afraid of pacing and drawing it out, they could’ve come up with a way around that. Like doing a little montage of Clementine and AJ getting closer with everyone, showing little bits of her getting close with Louis and Violet in different ways as well as throwing in moments of Marlon getting more and more stressed out and snappy. I don’t know! I just don’t feel we were with them as long as we should’ve before the confrontation scene. It also would’ve added more weight to turning to Louis or Violet for help. I know it still has weight because they still help her even though they don’t know her, but you can totally argue that they’re not doing it entirely for her. Louis doesn’t want his best friend to murder Clem in front of everyone and Violet’s no doubt pissed about what happened to the twins. They both like Clementine, but..... it’s not entirely HER that motivates them to step up, y’know?
Also, like you said, I wanted to talk to Aasim and Omar about the delta. We couldn’t do that because of Clementine getting bit and the big reveal of her surviving. A lot was sacrificed for that and I don’t think that’s a good thing.
Back before ep4 came out, my big theory was that James/Lilly was going to kidnap AJ and THAT was going to be our parallel to s1. I was KIND OF right since James tries to kidnap AJ so I WASN’T CRAZY Y’ALL. Haha the shit I got for suggesting AJ potentially getting kidnapped was nuts, but I WASN’T ENTIRELY WRONG OKAY
But, we could’ve made it back to the school with everyone, maybe still get separated, have the cave scene [except James doesn’t try anything at this time] and have the bridge scene, but Clementine, AJ, and Louis/Violet/Tenn make it back [James, too, if he’s there] and we think we’re finally okay until Clementine wakes up and realizes that AJ’s gone.
Not only would this give us the despair of James being driven to betray us, but IT WOULD GIVE LILLY PURPOSE
Not some stupid “Love never lasts bleh!” two-second speech we get from her.
This could also make Clementine reminisce about when the Stranger took her and what happened to Lee when he came to get her. We’d have everyone try and help us get AJ back, which would lead to us having a moment with the one we let get taken since they’re too hurt to go so they stay with Omar to watch the school or something.
If this happened, I would’ve stopped AJ from shooting Lilly. I would’ve sacrificed James to get a final confrontation with Lilly after tracking her down. Hell, have it at the barn! Lilly’s still hurt and she’s got to rest, but she’s got AJ tied up or something! I don’t know, something! And THEN maybe we can switch to playing as AJ to escape!
I’m just throwing out ideas here! Maybe not everyone would be into it, but hell, I’m interested. In the very least, it’s fun to think about and discuss.
While I’m glad Clementine ends up in a home and everything’s fine and dandy, I wish there was more, like you said.
And while on this subject: What would you add to the game if given a 5th episode? Would you go with a kidnapping plot like I suggested, or would you go with something different? Like spending more time with the delta? Or maybe having James be our overall final antagonist? Or Minerva not getting bit and coming back to kidnap Tenn, and THAT’S our kidnapping plot? Or maybe the ending we got is perfect and you wouldn’t change anything?
I’m interested in what you would want for an ending if you would essentially rewrite it.
And anon, thanks for sharing! I completely understand your issues and dislike of the final episode, totally valid! At least we can take comfort in fanfics and art and other’s theories and “what-if”’s to help with any disappointment we felt during the game. It’s a beautiful game [the best of the 4 imo] and I love it, but it’s not perfect.
