Heroes chronicles – first disk, first time

I played in weekend day. At the country house. In computer game – Heroes Chronicles. It is very first Cd. With story about barbarian. About how he was a king. And I notice, that there are lots of story here. And this is very big part of Heroes Chronicles. But, speaking the true, I do not read it carefully.

But story is good. I read it partially. It is as a good and detailed fantasy.

I, simply, play the game. This game is more easier, by idea, than Heroes Of Might And Magic 3. And Heroes Chronicles was build with idea to find new fans for Heroes Of Might And Magic 3. It should to play easier. And there are lots of text here with story. In those days, in 90s, 2000s I never played games like this. I have played in Heroes of Might And Magic 3. In full version with all these addons Armageddon’s Blade and Shadow of Death. I put more efforts into this version. And when Heroes 3 was released, I, immediately, buy cd. And, as I remember, maybe, my brother was first, and he buy game Heroes of might and magic 3. And I can say thanks to him for this. We played a lot in 90s and 2000s in Heroes. And also, together, in mode Hot Seat.

And, in those days I had a negative attitude about addons, you know, it is the same game, but with new levels. I thought that developers are lazy. And I am personally never buying addons. Even, in case of addons for Heroes 3 or Half Life. And absolutely another about my brother. And I remember as brother bring a cd with Armageddon’s Blade. Only this cd. And I, you know, - it is stupid new maps. But brother answered something. Game was launched. Anyway, Heroes 3 is an excellent videogame. And, yes, it was new campaigns. Something new. Brother also buy, one day, Half Life, about security man. I don’t remember. Was it opposing Force, or Blue Shift. And he has a cd with both of them. I do not remember. And I am as always – this is only a new maps. And it is cool to have a new game. But, in result, it was good. I like it. In Half Life story also is a reasonable part of a game.

So, we skip Heroes Chronicles with my brother. And the more reason was, that there are lots of CDs with Heroes Chronicles. Every new hero – new CD. And it will cost a lot of money to buy them all. Only because of it is a Heroes 3. And yes, they are good. But as idea campaign and maps. But some interest, it was some interest. To know what is it Heroes Chronicles.

And now, I am tired from Quake 2 at the country house. And I have played in Heroes Chronicles. And it is a campaign for barbarian. And I complete level 1. And now I am on a map 2. First map is very interesting. All the time, you have a text blocks. So, you are young barbarian. And, you are something like rebuilding a kingdom. Barbarians are under pressure of someone. And we are gathering armies. And, enemy, as it written in text screen, send us a poison. It is goes as a text story. And later, bards goes to our place. Bards are under pressure too. Because of they know old legends. All of them are need to be forgotten. But bards reach the barbarian place. And they tell, that they see someone valuable into him. Story is very cool here. Lots of text. For fantasy fans it is a good thing.

The map itself is not big. And, it was played easy. I have two heroes. And I cannot build all the buildings. But I can build a big birds. And ogre mages are available. So pretty big army I can to raise. And I have two castles. And enemies on the map are not hard. Yes, I am playing at most easy level difficulty. So, it is more interesting, just play it. I get lots of artifacts. Even, a little of sailing with a ship. And it is only a small island. With artifacts. And text. So, you will have lots of text during the game. Text tells you that it is a little island for mages. In old times, mages came to the barbarians, from time to time. And this is their, some kind, guest island. Interesting.

When we go to the enemy, we need to pass a portal. And there are hard enemies there. But, if you already collect army, than it is normal. And, later, you go to enemy castle. Castle is under a very good defense. And, I, almost, lost all of my powers with siege. Siege was hard. But, anyway, enemy was fallen. So, level completed.

And I start level 2. And make a save.

holy shit i just came across your postes about Chronicles of the Kingdom of fantasy and just got hit with a barrage of memories related to it. Good times, and I can't believe that there's like zero fandom around it.

Aaaa omigosh!! Glad to hear that! And I gotta agree, it's insane how there's no fandom around it all. I think in all the years I've spend obsessing about these books (and it has been a whole decade at this point haha) I've only come across a handful of people who have read and enjoyed them.

Which of the books is your favourite? Mine is probably the third book. The whole vibe of the swamp and the trapped dragons was really something!

A Lesson in Darkness, Snippet

Small bit I wrote on a whim for my OC, Yoruhua and Vanitas based on this art we drew. Some Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles references and fan lore. Anyways, onto adoptive sibling bonding moment shenanigans;

Vanitas scoffed, leaning against the much taller Yoruhua. He was completely unimpressed with what he was looking at, "so this was what you were so excited about? It's just another dead Keyblade. We saw plenty of those in the Graveyard."

A large boney gloved hand gently ruffled his hair from behind, which he tried to swat away to get them to stop- earning him some scratchy chuckles.

He looked up at them and frowned (but from their perspective seemed like adorable pouting,) getting them to stop.

Yoruhua simply smiled back peacefully to him, old tearstain marks over their discovery long since dried but still evident. It was embarrassing to him, how were they not? The look was so ill fitting on another creature of Darkness- especially for one so ancient and powerful as they claimed to be.

So weak, so mushy, so soft.

So unlike him.

Too much like those of the Light. Like Ventus.

"you're right, oscuritó, however... Out of all the blades from before; copies, mimics, mass produced... This is one of my design. We're getting closer to finding her, me, my Heart's Promise. It's a good sign..." He said quietly, though his voice was still rough from disuse the past eons, trapped within Void Gear.

The homunculus moved forward, forcing him to stand on his own, and pulled the old keyblade from the poisoned earth around it with no issue, unlike Vanitas had earlier; unable to pry it from centuries worth of weathering and miasma clinging to it. Not even he could do it.

It irked him seeing how easy it came to them. But if she really did helped create it, her ability to wield almost any keyblade was stupid useful in their quest and in his training.

In Yoruhua's grasp, she gently rotated it to see it from all angles. As if it weighed nothing at all, despite its hefty design- but if he was going to be honest, he had no idea how they were able to recognize it so quick with how dirty it was. Crusted in mud, muck, and bent all out of shape. He wouldn't have even notice if he hadn't tripped on the damn thing- it's Dark signature so hidden under all the poison it was undetectable.

But Yoruhua held it as if it was made just for her, instead of by her; light as a feather, just forged.

He still glared at it, "it's useless, not even worth the scrap metal all messed up like that. Worse than the ones in the graveyard."

She hummed, "well, its been eons since it's last wielder even held it. It's name is Breath of Achlys. Its what's oozing all this Miasma; still loyal to my fellow homunculi's dying wish to bring permanent ruin wherever they went." She slowly trailed the twisted blade's flat side with a finger starting from its broken teeth to the deformed hilt.

A wry, half-hearted smile on her lips, "ironically, I made it to purify the Miasma as an alternative to dangerously collecting drops of Myrrh. It was supposed to assist Orichalchemi's caravan in restoring their Tribal Crystal, make things easier for them all... Until a fellow homunculi slayed the Wielder it was made for, and made it her own."

He was mildly fascinated seeing it come to life in seconds with just a pinch of Darkness to revitalize something loss to time, back to its former glory. He's never seen Darkness being used in such a way.

He channels some of his power into the blade, both of them watching as the rust crumbled away revealing stark lilac steel, and twisted back into a curved, winding snake like shape. It's teeth reforming into a gaping spitting cobra, and the hilt slowly opening like the leaves of a corpse flower to shield the wielder's hand from its volatile poisons. The handle covered in a snakeskin leather.

Now that, was a true keyblade. Pity it was made for one of the Light originally.

"So, still think it's useless?" Yoruhua teased Vanitas.

He huffed, "I thought you had to be bequeathed in order to wield a Keyblade. Or prove yourself, so how could some other Darkness hold what was once held Light? Let alone a Light holding something made by the Dark in the first place."

Yoruhua twirled the blade again, watching it flash purple for a second, and started to suck in the poison around them. The effect wasn't immediate, but Vanitas could feel the shift in the air. Cleaning the area up to find any hidden clues.

He nodded, "asking the important questions- good." He lowered the keyblade for him to get a better look, "let's just say the way keyblades are made and used now barely resemble at all what they were originally created for."

"Just like the current worlds don't resemble the past world I came from. Life itself, changes relentlessly. Back then, Hearts and Light were still so new- like fresh clay they were easy to mold and much more adaptable. Before they set and dried into what they are now."

She smirked, "but that, will also inevitably change. It's a never ending cycle, little brother. Besides, what's important is that it still recognizes my authority as its creator."

He sneered at them, "what a lousy explanation. You're no better than the old man at explaining things. And don't call me 'brother' I've already got two of those already. I don't need anymore."

Yoruhua shrugged, "I never said I was any good at teaching; it's hard to explain things to someone so detached from the collective." She used her spare hand to point at his chest, right at his heart, "I speak in a way that I thought you would understand better; but evidently, just as I said, things change. The connection all those from the Dark should share, the language and the inheritance... It's lost on you. Just as you call Sora and Ventus brothers due to how your Heart and body are connected. So too do I call you brother in honor of that past connection."

Vanitas looked at them in deep thought, a scowl permanently etched in his face, before coming to a begrudging acceptance, "if I had... Existed, back then, would we have been connected like that? Within one another's shadow."

He felt amusement at the perplexing look on Vanitas' face, dumbing their speech down, they follow up with, "Back during the Dawn of Light's Era, all within the Darkness were inherently connected; me, before I made a Heart's Promise to Orichalchemi, and the other homunculi,"

"We could understand each other without words, each an extension of the others. Of course we had self consciousness separately, but we were more like... Trees, if you will."

She shifted in place, "we each controlled weaker Dark beings, the leaves and branches- us being the trunk and roots protected by bark, our physical bodies- and linked between a roots system, the collective... Err... 'mycelium' to communicate a need. Be it sharing resources or warning about danger."

Yoruhua let out a snort as if laughing at their own joke, "a bit odd to explain it like that- it is... Much more complex than that. Just as all things are. But I hope that helps you understand why I do and say the things that I do."

He almost didn't believe in it; the idea that anything would just. Unconsciously understand him and his needs, and to share anything with him at all without asking for anything in return. He refused to believe it would be anything like the how the Light would do it. The Light who make you ask for it, the Light who makes you have to prove yourself worthy enough to have it. The Light who always demanded something in return, be it friendship or good deeds instead of simply providing it because he was a part of it.

Ventus was selfish like that. Keeping his own identity, face, and keyblade- to keep the body that was not constantly plagued with emptiness and pain, away from Vanitas. For keeping that away from him and leaving him with a half existance, and envy in its place.

Yoruhua's eyes briefly glazed over with nostalgia as she looked over Vanitas' smaller form, moving her hand from his shoulder to gently pet his hair again, "I used to hide in my my siblings' shadows when I was little, taking solace in that endless black. However unintentional, you freed me from my prison. To you; my shadow is yours to make even darker, Vanitas."

When he looked back, all he saw was an expression of pride on Yoruhua's face as she reached out a gloved hand for him to push away, but he didn't. Allowing them to gently rest it on his shoulder, firm and grounding, "I don't need a inherit connection to recognize you as one of my own; we are shadows, long since cast in the burning Light. Blending within one another when cool night falls."

"Perhaps this generation of Darkness has forgotten what we once were; an unstoppable, unified force. The Light might have severed that connection when it introduced its potent, and addicting individuality- making us think it is more beneficial to work alone than it is as a whole- but even when I do find my Lighter half- I will never forsake my Darkness for it. That includes your place in it, oscuritó."

Video Game 2023 recap!

So this year i played heaps of games lol honestly crazy to think about.

Thought I'd do my own wrap up and look back.

I may mention spoilers.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Cute! Its my first Kirby game in forever (last game was on the DS) Again its cute, fun, funny and its body horror for kids!

Bayonetta 3

I've watched the previous two games so this was my first time playing a Bayonetta game. I was worried about getting into its combat so I played in casual for most of it. Did play in standard later and it turns out I was doing well lol

The story and ending was..something tbh I expected a lot based on the past two. Still I had fun as a newcomer and I enjoyed the customizing.

Yakuza Like a Dragon

Funny to think that I unintentionally played this game and I guess the rest of the series lmao Honestly iconic I loved Ichiban, I loved his friends, the usual RGG side stuff was fun and full of charm and the english dub was really well done. Am glad to have played this especially after I watched Penny Parker play this.

Yakuza 0

Loved it, a great way to get into the Kiryu saga, to know what Kiryu's story is (and Maji's) after playing through Ichi. I had quite the reaction to playing a game that can be so violent but also can be very weird and also feature a dress up game.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Its Xenoblade...it was a rollercoaster of a story to go through. Also very relaxing to play especially after Y0 and B3 lol

Enjoyed coming along with Noah and the gang. Loved Eunie and Taion and I liked seeing refs to 1 and 2.

Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

I basically put aside everything while playing TotK lmao

It was so fun exploring and seeing newer things added in. This is the only game so far that made me replay the final boss, like I NEEDED to play the final boss again <3 a battle between dragons.

Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core Reunion

I was surprised at how its a linear game and a pretty quick main story. And the missions are there to build more playtime.

the main story i liked, it was nice getting to know Zack and seeing characters from the og 7 in a different perspective.

Teared up at the ending :(

I wish that the story slowed down, so to get to know other characters more esp ones that Zack meets for the first time (Cissnei, Aerith and Cloud) and parts that were just skipped/skimmed through like Costa del Sol vacation time or when Zack inherits the buster sword after getting back to Midgar etc.

I also liked pointing out stuff I can connect to the og 7 :D

Yakuza Kiwami 1

A fun game. The Majima Everywhere system did make it feel like a horror game at first lmao Majima really gave me jumpscares.

The story? .....I'd rather not think about it TwT

Unpacking

Just a relaxing game to play. And it is one of those games I was interested in before cause how I saw it on social media but at the time couldn't play it myself so I'm grateful to play it through the game pass yay.

Yakuza Kiwami 2

I will say I had a lot of fun with K2, such as the cabaret club minigame coming back, taking a lot of selfies (esp in front of dead bodies - Killer Kiryu) and the Majima saga. But unfortunately so far it takes last place out of the RGG games for me.

The main story didn't have a focus on the multiple plots and just revealed all the plot twists at the end.

Ryuji, hes hot but I came to conclude that hes very overhyped. He didn't have that much screen time :/ If it weren't for his popularity and spin-off appearances, I would've forgotten about him.

And I think major of all of why its last place is THAT ending...what. Like really a fake bomb? And did they have to make out?

Yakuza 3

This is the gayest game I've ever played.

I honestly feel betrayed I wasn't given a yaoi warning while starting up the game. I hear that 3 is infamous for some stuff and can be quite divided between fans. BUT bro its a game WORTH PLAYING play it for dad Kiryu time, play it for Mine lol JUST PLAY IT.

Frog Detective Trilogy

Simple and hilarious lmao So far I've only played the first of the trilogy. It was cool to play an Aussie game.

Yakuza 4

Gameplay wise it was fun. Really like how interesting it was to play as different people and how they experience Kamurocho in their own lives. Cool change to always playing as Kiryu and from Kiryu's pov. Akiyama and Tanimura were fun to play as especially Tanimura's radio thing which I found interesting. Saejima's section I felt was limited, I think the police guarding everywhere scared me away from doing his substories; so I ended finishing his part earlier compared to everyone :( (luckily I got to do his side stuff at the finale part)

And I realized at the end I struggled with switching and adapting between each character's style. Because of that I very stuffed up at the final bosses and stuffed up so bad that I forgot how to play as Kiryu..

The story is..interesting lol It is definitely soap opera-ish. I actually got into it at the start and the part where Hamazaki spilled the tea but because of the freaking rubber bullets twist I couldn't take it seriously towards the end like I even laughed and was just howling. There were scenes where it was just presented dramatically, like theres one where it zoomed into peoples faces with a sfx which instantly made me think of those Indian soap opera memes lmao

Yakuza 5

Very recently finished the main story. And honestly I forgot how the story goes lmao its a very long game. The character profile mind map from would've really helped and also summaries like in 0 too (which I'm guessing is an improvement since that came out after 5)

It was fun how each character came with a second game (such as Saejima's Hunting Simulator for the Nintendo Wii and Project Diva)

The enemy encountering is very annoying /: separate enemies being close by each other in the same area ughhhh
