why does no one talk about how stressful grocery shopping is once you’re cooking for yourself for the first time

like “how much is this food? is this expensive? not sure but it is slightly less expensive than that other food with a similar size. if it’s expensive do i really need it? i can eat other things. wait what do i have to eat at home. wait what did i come here to get again?? i got this basket so as to limit how many things i grabbed but i’ve already grabbed too many things and now it’s hurting my arm and i should have just gotten a cart but it’s embarrassing at this point to get a cart and leave my things here” and then suddenly it’s dark outside and you’re rly hungry and the day is over and you can’t remember what time you got here so now you’re just slowly going insane in the produce section at Sprouts

You know you've got a good college professor when they tell you the textbook is too expensive so they've A) pirated it for you and B) encourage you to share it as much as you want.

10.7.2023 - Happy Saturday! If you had/have special plans, that's awesome! I most definitely did not, lol. :.)

After work, I spent a couple hours catching up on some lectures and learning a few new words. Fruits were the vocab theme today. That's "orange" up there in the photo. We also learned some different greetings and in what cases to use them.

I bought two massive packs of blank flashcards a while back, so I've been handwriting all the vocab we are learning each week, as well as the proper pronunciation.

PS. I've decided that I'm not even going to try to take those perfect-lighting, aesthetic study pics for this blog, lol. I like very warm lighting in my room for the cozy vibes, you know, and I only study in here, at night, so I can't really get away from slightly orange pics, lol. Props to the amazingly put-together and aesthetic studyblrs out there. I aspire to be like you one day.

In my head

Puts a damper on my day off to wake up uneasy, nervous and with a feeling of impending doom.

I'm thinking that it may be because even when I try to give myself the space of a few hours without working on schoolwork or article research or other "work," I wind up feeling unproductive and guilty and then my "down time" is basically annihilated.

So, in the face of numerous tasks and catching up and productivity, I think I need to actually rest up before a new week commences and I return to driving all over and meeting deadlines and making classes and appointments on time.

Why is everything such a precarious balance?? Because while I can feel that I need mental space to daydream and focus on frivolous things for a day, I also am acutely aware that my tight schedule keeps me on my toes and challenges me in a healthy way.

This shit is hard. But knowing me I am likely making it harder than it needs to be.

I'm going to get up, put on my eyeliner, get dressed, grab a coffee and think about decorating for Halloween later today.

I hope you are all well out there today. I was looking through my follower list just now and see that I've been mutuals with some of you fine folks for nearly a decade or more.

Let me just say that it has been a pleasure to share that time with you as we grow and change and succeed and also falter and need support.
