all I hope for // is to be a bit of warmth for you // when there's not much warmth left // to go around
“Hey, Yuri.” The voice on the other end of the phone felt distant, crackly, absent. Yuri furrowed her brow.
“Nats… Natsuki?” She asked quietly. “Is that you?”
“Of course it is, who else would it be?” Natsuki snapped at Yuri, trying to mimic her usual snarky attitude. But it didn’t work. Yuri was growing more and more concerned, more afraid for her friend.
“It’s just…” Yuri hesitated. “You’ve had my phone number for a year now. And you’ve never called me, not once.”
“I…” Natsuki fell silent. “That’s not important right now.”
“Are you ok?” Yuri started panicking quietly. Something was off with her friend - she could hear it in her voice - the fluctuations in pitch, the fake confidence she donned so often.
“I just…” Natsuki’s voice trailed off slightly. Her voice was trembling when she spoke once more. “I just need somewhere to stay. Please?”
“Of course, of course.” Yuri started walking briskly towards her front door. “Where are you? I’ll come pick you up.”
“What? No, it's fine.” Natsuki said. “Give me your address, I’ll just take a bus or something.”
“Don’t be ridiculous, Natsuki.” Yuri pulled on her autumn cloak, putting her car keys in her pocket and closing the door to her apartment behind herself. “I have a car, It’ll be faster this way.”
“Ok fine.” Yuri could practically hear Natsuki’s eyes rolling down the phone. “I’m at the literature club.” Yuri stopped in her tracks.
“The literature club?” Natsuki hummed a confirmation. “But the school’s closed, it’s a Saturday.” Natsuki fell silent. Yuri sighed softly. “It’s ok, don’t worry. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”
“Ok.” Natsuki hung up. Yuri put her phone in her pocket and rushed downstairs, unlocking her car as she strode towards it. She fastened her seatbelt, backed out of the car park, and entered their school’s address into the satnav.
Yuri tried to open the main doors to the school, but they were firmly locked. She took her phone out of her pocket and opened Natsuki’s chat. ‘How do I get into the school building? Yuri.’ She pressed the send button. After a second, three dots appeared at the bottom of Yuri’s screen, signalising that Natsuki was writing back. ‘window’, the message read. Yuri furrowed her brow, staring at the screen. She started typing back. ‘What do you mean by that? Yuri.’ Natsuki responded very soon after. ‘through the lit club window, yuri’. Yuri walked over to the courtyard, looking for the window to the literature club’s classroom. Sure enough, the window was wide open. It was rather low to the ground - easy to climb, especially as someone had, seemingly, pulled over one of the benches. Yuri tilted her head. Were they not attached to the ground? Regardless, she stepped onto the bench and through the window.
“Natsuki?” Yuri whispered.
“I’m in the storage room!” Yuri followed the voice to the storage room where she found her friend, sitting by a pile of mangas and a small suitcase. Natsuki dried off her eyes furiously, trying to get rid of the redness that betrayed the secret she wished to keep from Yuri - that she had been crying. Yuri kneeled down on the ground opposite her.
“What happened, Natsuki?” Her voice was filled with care, and Natsuki couldn’t contain the tears flowing from her eyes. She looked down at her hands, which she had laid in her lap.
“My dad…” Her voice trailed off. “He kicked me out.” Yuri’s eyes widened. It all made sense now - the suitcase, her mangas, the sudden phone call. Natsuki didn’t have a place to go, she was alone. Yuri moved over to Natsuki and enveloped her in a hug. She didn’t wonder if it was suitable. She didn’t question how Natsuki would react. She just wanted to be there for her. Natsuki blinked in surprise, but soon returned the hug, holding on tightly to the other girl. She started weeping silently, quickly gaining momentum, crying her soul out on Yuri’s shoulder. They did not speak.
It was starting to get dark. Yuri slowly got up from the floor and offered Natsuki her hand.
“I’m sorry, Yuri.” Natsuki rubbed her eyes. “I’m not usually like this. I don’t want to scare you away.”
“I’ve known you for more than a year now, Natsuki,” Yuri smiled at her. “I know what you’re like. You could never scare me away.” Yuri took the cardboard box of mangas from the floor. “Let’s go.”
“You can leave the mangas, I usually keep them here.”
“It’s fine, they’ll be safe at my apartment - I promise.” Yuri smiled. Natsuki nodded, picking up her suitcase. The two closed the door to the storage room and left the school building back through the window. Natsuki took a key out of her pocket and locked the window, pulling the bench back to where it usually stood. Yuri did not question her on the key, nor did she ask about the bench, leading Natsuki silently to where her car stood instead. The two got in, and Yuri started driving back to her apartment, slowly and gently.
Yuri opened the door to her apartment and switched on the light. Natsuki had the chance to take a look at the other girl’s house. It was small - but elegant at the same time, with two bedrooms, one bathroom and a large open area with a kitchen.
“It’s not much, but it’s comfortable to live in.” yuri placed the cardboard box on the floor. The room at the end, past the sofa, is for you.” Yuri blushed. “Not that I was expecting you or anything-!” Natsuki chuckled.
“Yeah, I get it. Don’t worry.” Yuri smiled happily.
“There’s a bookshelf in there, you can put your mangas there.” Natsuki gave Yuri a tearful smile.
“Thank you, Yuri.” She whispered. “For everything.” She pulled the other girl into a hug.
“Of course, Natsuki.” Yuri hugged the girl back. “I love you.” She tensed at that, only realising what she said after it happened. “I’m not… I didn’t…”
“It’s ok Yuri.” Natsuki hugged her tighter. “I love you too. So, so much. I love you Yuri.”
And at that moment, everything was ok. They were ok. And they would be safe - together, like it was always supposed to be, like they were tied by some invisible string.

Natsuki continued slowly down the sidewalk, passing shrubs and fenced houses. She slowly made her way toward the door in the very middle of the rows of homes but this was no home, it was merely a house...
"Story Telling"- A Natsuri fanfic
Chapter 2 - "House."
Warning for: parental abuse, transphobia
Tumblr media
Natsuki entered the house and was greeted by dirty dishes and flies buzzing, it was a disgusting sight but it wasn't her problem unless she wanted to bake and tonight, she had plans. She snuffed the dirt and grime that littered the house and made her way up the stairs, closing her door and locking it behind her.
The pink curtains and overwhelmingly pastel colouring all around had been there since she was young, though she was pressured to grow up and move on, she never once caved to those demands. She knew who she was and she'd be damned if she ever listened to anyone's bullcrap.
Moving on, she began changing into causal clothing, a nice pink tank top and white shorts which she grabbed from her closet were folded in her hands when her eyes suddenly landed on the mirror and her body was filled with several bruises and cuts from the abuse she'd suffered since age 10. Angered at her own weakness, she put the clothes on and fell back on her bed.
She suddenly sprung up and dashed for her bag, grabbing the book Yuri had given her for the night. On one hand, she didn't want Yuri to gain any upper hand upon seeing Natsuki take interest in her stupid, convoluted, over complicated, pompous literature but on the other hand....Natsuki was really enjoying the book. Shocked and disgusted by her own excitement to read something she deemed so dumb, she swallowed her pride and began to read.
And read she did, for hours and hours on end; with every little word she was immersed deeper and she found herself thinking of Yuri in a more positive light. She giggled at the different sticky notes with jokes about each character, notes about the lore and notes describing everything behind the scenes all written by Sayori. She planned on making it through the entire book in one night she was so immersed.
"Finally outgrew your manga?" Natsuki snapped her attention to her father in the door but she'd locked her door, hadn't she? "No," she began to defend herself, "This was given to me from a friend." She sat up, closing the book up and holding it to her chest. Her father looked her up and down, "You know, you don't have to do that fake high pitch voice." Natsuki looked away, anger on her face. "Could you get out now?" She asked through gritted teeth.
"I can't tell my co-workers about you if you keep dressing and acting like this."
"You wouldn't tell them about me anyway."
"I would if you stopped pretend to be a girl."
"You don't like anything about me, don't use that against me!"
Natsuki stands and points to him angrily as they yell, "Against you?! I'm the one supporting you! I'm the one letting you do this to yourself!" Natsuki's eyebrows immediately furrow at that statement. "Support?!" Natsuki scoffs, "You sit there on your ass all day, you don't talk to me unless you're yelling, you haven't hugged me in years! The most you do is hit me!" Her father grabs her arm and yanks her.
"Talk to me like that again, I fucking dare you." She pulls away her arm and he smacks her across the face. She backed into the corner, "You never could fight me like a man anyway, maybe it's better you keep pretending." Natsuki feels at her swelling cheek to suppress the aching and her anger only grows as he walks away.
After a few moments, Natsuki stands and wanders to her mirror, she stares at herself; she knew who she was, she couldn't change that. This was her, the real her and that bastard could never change that. Brows furrowed, she punches the mirror and her knuckles start to bleed.
"Shit," Natsuki mumbles, wrapping her knuckles in bandages and then returning to her room and grabbing the book Yuri lent her. "At least he didn't rip this one up like my manga." Natsuki sighs and goes back to her door and closes it, seeing that the lock was picked before closing it.
Natsuki opens the book and finds her page again, sighing contently as she began to read once more...

Happy End
Note: Yandere themes, disturbing images, depiction of violence and mental health, if you're familiar with Doki Doki literature club you should know what to expect. Be aware and take caution.
Characters: Xiao, Venti, Kazuha & Kunikuzushi.
Tumblr media
Venti as Monika - As the President of the Literature Club, he functions as the game's motivator, encouraging club members to produce poems up until the club festival. Venti previously belonged to the debate club but left as a result of the internal politics and turmoil, expressing his desire for harmony, freedom of discussion, and goodwill.
"To be honest, I can't stand all of the politics around the major clubs. It feels like nothing but arguing about the budget and publicity and how to prepare for events... I'd much rather take something I personally enjoy and make something special out of it. And if it encourages others to get into literature, then I'm fulfilling that dream!"
The first thing you noticed about Venti was that he was a charming and intelligent young man who seemed to be brilliant at whatever he did, whether it was writing poetry or playing the piano (he offered to teach the piano after school, isn't that sweet of him?). To have someone with such potential in the school is truly great, don't you agree?
"As president of the Literature Club, it's my duty to make the club fun and exciting for everyone!"
Everything appears to be operating smoothly. Everyone was cheerful, and they were all getting ready for the club festival, which was coming up soon.
But something about Venti began to change.
He remains fairly friendly, but his remarks and encouragement appear to take on a more passive aggressive tone. He appeared irritated with the other members, acting sarcastic when asked for advice or even going as far to ignore them. The fact that Venti had an epiphany before the game began and was given the authority to modify the game's variables also isn't revealed until much later. As a direct consequence, his sentiment toward the other boys was altered because he realised they weren't "real" boys.
When the other boys make it impossible for the player and him to spend time together, he starts acting in a drastic manner.
Drastic.
Perhaps the word drastic truly undermines his behaviour towards the other members.
I wouldn't say it's just drastic.
"Don't say I didn't warn you, (First Name)."
Venti only had the capability to modify parameters within the play and did not wish to immediately delete or eliminate the other boys owing her lingering attachment to them, so he starts attempting to render the other boys unlikeable by changing their attributes out of desperation. He starts with Xiao since he was the childhood friend of the protagonist and he was seen as the biggest threat. Then he would gradually shift between each character, making sure they were all as horrible as possible, in the hopes that you would be sufficiently terrified to reject the others.
Yet you remain unmoving.
Therefore, it wasn't his fault that he had to choose a worse alternative; you can't really hold him responsible for having to get rid of Xiao when you're the one being demanding.
"Yay, you picked me! We can meet at your house this weekend. I promise it'll be fun. Is Sunday okay with you?"
He grows increasingly bitter over not playing a love component in the game as a happy ending wasn't envisioned for him. He also makes it clear that he is in love with the player and begs them to invest additional time with him. The fact that all of his poems are about the player or his epiphany emphasises how consumed he became with achieving this goal as a result of his ambition and determination. As a result of them not being "real," he also begins to ignore and exaggerate the features of the other characters.
Why should he possibly care about these manufactured beings who can't even truly appreciate their freedom? His morals abruptly changed and his sympathies for the other members grew colder.
"Sometimes it feels like you and I are the only real people here. You know what I mean? But it's weird, because in all the time you've been here, we've hardly gotten to spend any time together. Ah...I mean... I guess it's technically only been a couple days…"
Venti may seem optimistic in the Literature Club, but it becomes increasingly clear that he is essentially depressed and lonely as a result of comprehending that everything in his life is just a simulation.
However, can you really hold him responsible for his actions?
Would you be so happy to learn that you didn't even live as a character that was relevant?
Would you be satisfied with yourself?
The worst thing is that he will never be able to experience what is referred to as "happiness" since his route will never be finished. He is obsessed with winning the player's love because they are the only thing that is "real" in his life.
"...Oh...Oh... ... Ahahaha! Well, that's a shame. Wait, were you here the entire weekend, [First Name]? Oh, jeez... I didn't realise the script was broken that badly. I'm super sorry! It must have been pretty boring... I'll make it up to you, okay? Just gimme a sec…"

Xiao as Sayori - As the vice president of the literature club, he likewise wishes that more individuals would join in order to increase their interest in poetry. Now, I know Xiao is an odd pick for Sayori considering their contrasting personality and you would probably assume Kazuha to be a better match. But there are similarities and I thought he would be better for the childhood friend role.
Since you and Xiao have known one another since you were young, it is difficult for you to recall your initial impression of him. Along with thinking of him as your sweet but reserved friend, you were relieved to learn that he took an interest in writing and that he enjoyed studying literature and writing poetry because these activities allow him to express his emotions.
"Hey, [First Name]....Since we're already here, do you want to walk home together?"
Regardless of the fact that the two of you had known each other since you were children, his question concerning walking home nevertheless came out as rather tentative and scared. Even though you've known each other for a long time, you would tease him about his timidity by marveling at how silly a question it was for him to ask. Later on, it is discovered that he battles severe depression and puts a lot of effort into making everyone around him happy in order to deal with, among other things, his own lack of self-love.
So you shouldn't be teasing him too much.
"Even if it's just a bit…I..I wanted to spend more time with you. I know it seems stupid but.."
He seems to feel unworthy of love because of his depression, but he still desires to be loved, particularly by the protagonist, who he has a crush on.
He only wants your affection, nothing else.
Xiao seems to suffer when the player choose to follow one of the other boys since he subconsciously wishes that the protagonist fall in love with him while also feeling terrible for initially feeling that way.
Xiao will commit suicide the day before the festival regardless of the player's decision.
Don't cry.
Isn't it just a matter of fate?
He feels that if he makes everyone else happy, he won't have any reason to be miserable at all, therefore his relationship with the protagonist and other people's happiness are his main coping mechanisms. Although he tries, he is unable to make you happy.
He's not enough.
He will never be enough.
"You know, [First Name]... It's nice that I get to spend time with you in the club. But I think seeing you get along with everyone is what makes me the happiest."

Tumblr media
Kunikuzushi as Natsuki - The third member of the Literature Club, an enthusiastic manga fan who occasionally feels self-conscious about it (particularly in light of Kazuha's frequent taunting).
Just be careful not to tease him too much. He might die from humiliation.
Just kidding.
Your first conception of Kunikuzushi seems to be one of a cocky, outspoken, irritable, and even conceited young man. Venti, though, categorises him as the true tsundere given his rather charming, softer interior. Due to his diminutive stature and sour disposition, it's a little difficult to hold back from gushing about him since he's just so cute.
"Well everyone has their own opinion. But my opinion is the best opinion. I'm sure you've figured that out already."
While impetuous and prone to speaking without thinking, Kunikuzushi genuinely cares about his friends and, despite having clear anger management issues, dislikes getting into fights or confrontations with other people (at least ones he can't win). Despite his persistent bullying tendencies, Kunikuzushi had displayed some gentleness by asking you to his house to bake despite his concern about being discovered by his mother.
He would not, however, elaborate on his reasons for being so wary of her.
"Take your stupid poem. If you wrote it for someone else, just don't show it to me!"
Together, the two of you frequently bake, and at one point, you teasedly nibbled on some frosting that was apparently his finger. He gets angry right away and starts ranting about how you shouldn't do that with other men because they might perceive it differently.
Such a cute little thing isn't he?
"Why didn't you come read with me today? I was waiting for you. I was waiting for a long time. It was the only thing I had to look forward to today. Why did you ruin it?"
Selecting Kazuha would irritate him, and when you try to read Kunikuzushi your poem, He would chase you out right away. Xiao will congratulate Kazuha and Kunikuzushi on their writing and capabilities if the player asks him to diffuse the tension. After that, the argument will end, and Xiao's answer will satisfy Kazuha and Kunikuzushi. He also makes a comparison between his and Kazuha's physique, which leads the main character to claim that some individuals are attracted to someone with a little frame.
By now, you should be aware that Kunikuzushi detests being referred to as cute.
"Do you like Kazuha more?"
Even though he acts cute and does cute things, Kunikuzushi despises the label "cute" and will fight any accusations made in this regard by others. However, once he is confident that no one will make fun of him for it, he feels much more at ease showing off his sweet side. Whether it's in regards to his work, his interests, or simply his general demeanour, Kunikuzushi detests it when he isn't treated seriously. He probably developed a sense of guilt about himself and his interests as a result of how his peers treated him and because his mother was allegedly abusive, making his brusque demeanour a coping mechanism.
He liked you so much because you were compassionate and capable of comprehending him for this reason.
Not Xiao.
Not Kazuha.
Not Venti.
But just you.
"I think you're better off not associating with HIM. Are you listening to me? KAZUHA IS A SICK FREAK. That should be obvious by now. So just play with me instead. Okay? You don't hate me, do you? Do you hate me? Do you want to make me go home crying? The club is the only place I feel safe. Don't ruin that for me. Don't ruin it. Please. Just stop talking to Kazuha. Play with me instead. It's all I have... Play with me. PLAY WITH ME."

I see.... In spite of all the terrible things you had to witness tonight, I think you would want to keep going. I guess there isn't much I can do to stop you...
Tumblr media
Kazuha as Yuri - The fourth member of the Literature Club, and is widely regarded to be one of the most brilliant writers. Capable of authoring the most exquisite poem and crafting the most magnificent statements which may well render your heart to skip a beat as if wildflowers were continuously overflowing from his tongue.
He's quite the charmer, isn't he?
"Thanks for keeping your promise, [First Name]. I hope this isn't too overwhelming of a commitment for you. Making you dive headfirst into literature when you're not accustomed to it…"
When you first encountered Kaedehara Kazuha, you considered he was a very gracious young man with manners above and beyond those of a high school student. His voice was as soothing and pleasant to hear as his poetry, sweet and delicate and able to move one's heart. Kazuha, despite having a gift for words, was relatively quiet in comparison to the other members. A quality which you liked considering the amount of noise you had to constantly put up with.
But just because he remained silent doesn't mean his affinity for literature has become less profound or anything. One can even contend that Venti's passion for literature and the arts was akin to his own, particularly in those instances where he would get irate about seemingly inconsequential remarks made by Kunikuzushi.
You somewhat fear that their banter may turn physical one day.
"W-Wait! There’s a reason why we have such deep and expressive words in our language! It’s the only way to convey complex feelings and meaning the most effectively. Avoiding them is not only unnecessarily limiting yourself...it’s also a waste! You understand that, right, [First Name]?"
However, as the game progresses. Kazuha's seemingly timid personality took a rather strange tone. As if some sort of glitch had overridened his personality, bringing out the most negative aspects of his personality.
"I-I don't know... I'm kind of indifferent, I guess... WHO CARES ABOUT THAT OBNOXIOUS BRAT?"
Venti intensifies Kazuha's undesirable personality qualities in Act 2, which causes his devotion for you to turn somewhat unhealthy, bordering on an infatuation.
Your pens started to disappear, as if someone had deliberately broken through your desktop and backpack. Alternatively, if the thief returns the stolen materials, they would leave behind a trail of evidence in the form of persistent bite marks on the pencil, suggesting that they have a penchant for chewing them.
Naturally, you would toss them away, just to have someone eventually pick something out of the trash and put it back into your backpack with a little note, always written with most obscure messages.
The culprit behind the theft wouldn't be revealed to you until the very end of the game, when Venti would snicker and explain Kazuha's peculiar behaviours, mentioning how Kazuha had a propensity of looking through your possessions and touching himself with the collection of pens he gathered from you, even going so far as to injure himself with the jagged corners.
Which would explain the constant amount of bandages wrapped around his flesh.
"I mean, I like how nice and quiet the club is right now... And I'm just... happy with you here... But still! I'm the Vice President... It's not right for me to ignore my responsibilities like that... NOBODY WOULD CRY IF HE KILLED HERSELF. I should do my best to consider everyone's perspective and make the decision that's right for the club."
He started using far harsher language than the typical Kazuha, interfering with and beinglittleful to the other club members, and tormenting Kunikuzushi nonstop. In spite of his enjoyment, Kazuha feels horrible since he knows that something is wrong with him and that his statements and behaviour are inappropriate.
Yet he can't bring himself to stop.
Regardless of how hard he struggles, he eventually is unable to regulate his obsessive outbursts. It gets to the point where, regardless of whether the player embraces or refuses his love, he ultimately stabs himself to death, leaving a bloody mess on the classroom floor, with a distressed smile on his face as he begins to fade out of existence.
Nothing could be done but watch helplessly as his body rotted away in the school for three days until Kunikuzushi eventually discovered it.
“Why is this happening to me? I feel like I’m losing my mind... I can’t make it stop. It even makes me not want to read... I just want... ...to look... ...at YOU.”

but if we set the bone straight // it'll mend // it'll fix // and we'll be well
“Yuri?” Monika tilted her head slightly, stopping by the entrance to the classroom, her sheet music in a blue folder under one arm, her instrument case in the other. “I didn’t know you went here!”
“Monika!” Yuri dropped her bow, startled. She took a deep breath and smiled at the other girl. “I wasn’t expecting you here.”
“I’ll say!” Monika laughed, entering the classroom. “I was just told by my teacher where I have band practice, he didn’t tell me with whom.” Yuri blushed slightly.
“I’ve had the band placement list for a week.” She said softly. “My cello teacher enjoys being the first to tell me about different things.” Yuri picked up her bow from the floor and placed it gently on the music stand before her. “I just did not recognise your surname on the placement list.”
“Oh, yeah.” Monika nodded. “Not many people know that I’m half-polish, I must’ve forgotten to tell you.” She scratched the back of her neck. “Sorry about that.”
“It’s fine, don’t worry.” Yuri smiled. “At least we’re both surprised.” Monika smiled.
“What’s your second instrument?” Monika asked.
“Oboe.” Yuri looked at the smaller instrument case in the back of the room. “I enjoy the beauty of the sound it produces. How unique it is, and how important. It’s the instrument in an orchestra that all the others tune to, did you know that? Because it’s so hard to tune the oboe, the rest of the orchestra tunes to it instead. And it has the most beautiful solos.”
“That’s wonderful, Yuri!” Monika beamed. “I love to see you so passionate about things. Why did you choose the cello?”
“It’s the most similar to the human voice.” Yuri blushed. “It has a soul. It’s just… special to me.” She turned to Monika. “What’s your second instrument? I knew you played piano, but I don’t know your second one.”
“Violin.” Monika smiled. “I’m actually the concertmaster in the school orchestra!”
“That’s wonderful, Monika.” Yuri smiled softly. “I can’t wait to join you there next semester.”
“You’ll love it, I’m sure.” Monika nodded. She sat by the piano and took out her sheet music. “Have you seen the pieces we were given for band?” Yuri nodded. “What shall we start with, in that case?”
“How about the Tchaikovsky piece? The gallant poet?” Yuri asked, turning her sheet music to the band section.
“That sounds lovely!” Monika brought the piece to the front of her set. She opened the piano’s lid and adjusted the seat. Yuri took her bow in hand, quietly tuning the cello. They sat in silence for a moment, preparing to play. And then one breath, taken together - and they played.
They played the Tchaikovsky twice, before moving on to Mozart, Saint-Saëns, and a take on Chopin. When they finished all they had prepared, Monika silently took out her violin, and they continued playing, now Vivaldi and Dvořák. To finish off, Yuri took out her oboe, and, at her request, the two played a simplified version of the swan lake theme.
They packed up their instruments and left the room, somewhat fulfilled by the music. Yuri left the keys to the classroom at reception and the two left the music school building. It was snowing outside - Yuri took that as a good sign. She always loved the snow, how delicate it was, the pleasant chill it brought. She didn’t mind the cold much most of the year - she only took out a proper winter coat when the temperature was well below zero, much colder than today. She turned to Monika.
“How’s Sayori doing?” Monika blushed slightly and Yuri smiled. Those two - they had been together for a few months now, and Sayori had moved in with Monika just last month.
“She’s decided to grow out her hair.” Monika said proudly, looking over at Yuri. She had tears in her eyes, happy tears. Yuri didn’t understand them - but she was happy for Monika and Sayori all the same.
“That’s wonderful, Monika.” Yuri smiled. “I remember how beautiful Sayori looked with long hair last year.” The two started walking towards the car park.
“How about Natsuki?” It was Yuri’s turn to blush, Monika noticed triumphantly.
“She’s better, much better.” Yuri smiled to herself. “We’ve been cooking together - she really enjoys that.”
“That’s lovely to hear.” Monika beamed. “You two should come over sometime, we’d love to have you!”
“Of course.” Yuri smiled back. “I’ll let Natsuki know you’ve invited us.”
The two girls said goodbye, and went their separate ways, both to home. Monika put on her headphones and got on the bus, smiling softly to herself. Sayori was growing out her hair, Natsuki was having fun, Yuri was proud in her interests. They were all getting better. Her friends were healing.

Obviously, Yuri is a very shy person and Natsuki is a very outspoken person and they have clashing views or at least...they used to.
Their views used to clash and they'd get into very messy fights, one evening, after club, even nearly escalating to physical with Yuri getting so uncharacteristically upset that she bashed her fists down on a desk and shockingly, startled Natsuki into complete silence.
"Story Telling." - A Natsuri (Natsuki x Yuri) fanfic by yourreality-mp3
Part 1- "Conflict."
(Before the masterlist comes out, to read more; go to my blog and press on the tag "story telling" it will lead you to every part)
Tumblr media
Both girls froze immediately until Natsuki gradually broke down crying and yelled for Yuri to leave her alone. Scared but not wanting to escalate things any further, Yuri did as she was asked and walked around the second floor of the school for about 10 minutes, overthinking and afraid that she had caused some terrible downfall to the club and that she hurt Natsuki.
Calming from her panicked state, she slowly opened the club room door and seen Natsuki hunched over with the quiet sound of her sobbing resounding in the room. "Natsuki?" Yuri slowly stepped toward her and got on her knees, "Is it okay if I-" Yuri began to ask, hands stopping just before reaching Natsuki's shoulders, Natsuki reluctantly nods and so, Yuri places her hands on the crumpled up Natsuki's shoulders. Natsuki's balled fists of anger and sadness uncurled as she moved herself to sit up on her knees.
"I'm fine." Natsuki spoke shakily, cold tears being wiped by Yuri's long fingers. "I'm sor-" Yuri went to apologize but Natsuki just shook her head slowly. "It's okay. It's my fault anyway." Natsuki's body shuffles and she rests her hands on her face, "I was stupid to have broken down in the first place." Her voice seemed to be getting more clear.
"You also don't need to help me, I don't need anyone's help." Natsuki slowly rose up and walked toward a window, wiping her cheek stained with tears and taking a breath, Yuri slowly followed. "You know," Yuri rubs her arm, "It's okay to want help." Yuri walks toward her slowly, Natsuki seems to ponder.
"I don't..." Natsuki's eyes water and she grips the window cill. "Fine!" She shouts, trying to avoid the tears that are already falling, "Fine." She repeats, somberly. Yuri makes her way to Natsuki's side and they stare out the window at the golden setting sun. "It's getting late." Yuri comments, Natsuki nods.
"I don't really want to talk about it just yet." Natsuki rubs her arm, feeling the several bandaids underneath her uniform, at one point feeling at a bruise and wincing. "That's okay." Yuri says, "It's hard to want to talk about something that hurts you, especially if you've never said anything about it before." Neither of the girls look at each other but Natsuki reluctantly hits her pinky against Yuris' and they interlock.
Before the doors to the school locked, the two girls exited with their pinkies interlocked. "I don't really want to head home too quickly." Natsuki mentioned after a long bout of silence. "Let's take the scenic route then." Yuri began to walk Natsuki through the bushy path that led to a park filled with beautiful large trees and a garden filled with flowers. It was beautiful at this time in the evening and it was a place that Yuri would visit frequently and it always managed to calm her nerves.
Yuri brought Natsuki to a bench and they both sat, "Did you bring a book you haven't read yet?" Yuri asked, fishing around her bag for the 4th installment in a book series she was passionate about. "Nah, I've read practically my whole collection." Natsuki puts her bag on her lap and opens it, "That's what makes me a pro manga connoisseur!" She giggles triumphantly and Yuri smiles gently at the sight of her acting like her usual self and even blushes a bit at Natsuki's use of a word she'd clearly learnt from Yuri.
"But reading the same stuff is kinda bumming me out." Natsuki adds, Yuri thinks for a moment before remembering how Sayori left all her notes in the first volume of the book series Yuri was about to read the 4th volume for and digs in her bag, "I know it's probably very boring to you but I have the first book of my series if you want to read that." Yuri fishes it out and rests it on her lap.
Natsuki looks down at the dusty old novel filled with coloured sticky notes and cringes at it, knowing it'll be too much for her to really want to grasp but then she thought of something. "If I read that, you have to read the first edition of my favourite manga." Natsuki, in turn, fishes around in her own bag and pulls out the first manga in a set; the cover has cute girls in cute outfits, all of it is amazingly eye catching and pastel and it's a little bit intimidating to Yuri at first glance but they both take each other's books.
"Crap!" Natsuki's phone rings and she quickly pulls it from her pocket, breaking Yuri's sudden immersion in the manga and snapping her attention to the other girl. Natsuki walks away, talking into the phone for a minute and then coming back, "I have to head home now." Yuri nods and they both silently put each other's books into their respective bags to continue reading them at home. They each have their bags swung over a shoulder and their pinkies interlocked again as they walk.
About 20 minutes later, they've made it just a block away from Natsuki's place and suddenly, Natsuki wraps her arms around Yuri, "Y-you really should ask before doing touching someone without permission!" Yuri yelps out, but slowly puts her arms around Natsuki and that moment of shock fades. "Thanks." Natsuki mumbles, "Of course." Yuri replies, still timid and just as fast as Natsuki's warm arms were around Yuri, they were gone, leaving Yuri a little dazed as she watched the other girl walk down the sidewalk.
"I'll kill you if a single page gets bent!" Natsuki yells, making Yuri blink and then she realizes Natsuki's manga was still in her bag and reaches out her arm to give it back but then, she stops herself and walks home...
Could this be the start of a budding friendship? Or maybe even, a budding romance?! Find out more next time when the chapters release!
