#dick grayson has adhd

Okay so, I was thinking about some headcanon for my version of Dick.
After being such a cute kid, Dick became a punk teen. He would swear a lot (not around Alfred, he's not that crazy) drink everything he could and be extremely annoying (talking back every time Bruce would say something etc) and that's how Jason met him.
A loud boy who didn't listen to orders and who got fired because of that. Who would do everything he wasnt supposed to do.
They both would be chaotic siblings, being punk together and making horrible prank to Bruce (poor him seriously)
(Clark would just listen to Dick and would support him in his music taste by buying him cd's every time one of his favorite bands would make a new album #supportiveuncleclark)
And then a bit after Dick hit seventeen, Slade happens.
You know the basics, Dick gets basically kidnapped and forced to become Renegade with a lot of abuse and trauma coming from it.
After that's when Dick changed. He became quieter. He wouldn't talk back, would always refuse to prank anyone, would listen to adults and order, and what chocked Jason the most was the way Dick stopped moving as much as he used to, he could spend hour sitting, doing nothing but staring at nothing. And that's basically how he changed his whole personality. Went from loud, impulsive, funny to silent and steady, which was extremely surprising for everyone because Dick as a child never tried to mask his adhd.
And imagine small little Jason finally getting his big brother back, only to find out he changed so much and what shocked him the more was the fact that Dick didn't listen to punk music anymore. Saying he just didn't feel like it. Not wanting to explain that loud noise was just triggering and even if it was just music, screaming singer could send him straight into a panic attack.
Dick would also smoke a lot, I like to think that Slade would give him a cigarette every time he would himself smoke. Making unconsciously Dick addict.
He would never smoke in front of his siblings because his whole speech about not smoking would get hit hard. But his addiction never got away.
With time Dick stopped masking, and started laughing again but then BAM, Jason's death happened....
And??
What about an other post for that part?

Tim Drake really likes to stim by singing that “happy happy happy” audio from tik tok, even though it’s a few months old.
And Steph and Dick can’t stop themselves from joining in every time. It sets off a chain reaction in the manor, the three of them singing it on loop, driving the non-ADHDers of the batfam insane

Conversation
Duke: This is like that lightbulb thing.
Dick: What lightbulb thing?
Duke: Okay question: do you have easy access to a lightbulb?
Dick: .....no.
Duke: Becuase if you do, I feel like I shouldn't tell you this because ADHD means impulse control not good.
Dick: I'm so curious about where this is going.
Duke: It's just the thing where you can put a lightbulb in your mouth, but you can't get it back out without breaking the glass.
Dick: Ohhhhh. You know, I reckon I could get it out.
Duke: Dick, no.

"Potraying Dick as a huge slut who's always getting put into fanservice is actually progressive because it normalizes casual sex and is gender equality because female characters get potrayed that way too!!!"I mean sure but i feel like we could prove those same points with a male character who's NOT a multiple time r*pe survivor of color that's gotten victim blamed for at least one his assault's and has been coded as demisexual with a discomfort towards sexual looseness for himself since the 80s anyway

Tim Drake, Caffein and ADHD
Ok so, I know Tim is a coffee/energy drink addict (not sure if this is cannon or not but i don't really care). I was thinking about this a few days ago while thinking about my own ADHD relationship to stimulants/caffein.
What if Tim Drake is not addicted to caffein because he is trying to stay awake. He for sure has insomnia but what if its unrelated to the caffein?
What if he has undiagnosed and therefor untreated ADHD? His thoughts run a thousand miles a minute and he uses caffein to slow his thoughts down long enough to make sense of.
His parents were never around to see the signs. By the time he's Robin he's figured out how to self medicate with coffee. Dick (who is also hella ADHD) kicks himself for not noticing it. While Dick's ADHD presents as hyperactivity, Tim's presents in him being unable to regulate his focus. This is not in the "I can't pay attention way" that most people think of but the "I will hyper-focus on this thing to the point that I will forget to eat, sleep, drink, use the restroom etc" way.
Eventually someone figures out that he's got ADHD and he gets on the proper stimulants, (Adderall, Ritalin or Vyvance) and gets him on a good sleep med for insomnia and he slowly starts drinking less coffee because he doesn't need to anymore.
IDK just ADHD Tim Drake

Wayne Family and Galas Headcanon
I actually have an opinion that not all of the Waynes totally abhor galas like they are usually depicted as in fanon. Here are some of my thoughts on who does and does not like Rich People PartiesTM:
Bruce: Usually hates them, but likes that he can use his “Brucie” persona to fuck with people he doesn’t like and embarrass his kids.
Dick: Loves them. He gets to dress up all fancy and watch a bunch of other fancily dressed people. Rich people are total freaks, and getting to listen to the wacky shit that comes out of their mouths is better than any sitcom. It’s almost as good as a circus.
Jason: Hates them. Everybody there can go eat rocks as far as he is concerned. The only good parts are when he inevitably causes a scene by absolutely bodying some smug, rich, racist bastard for making a rude comment against him or his siblings and he is forcibly removed by security. This happens at every single function. Jason is not sure why Bruce keeps forcing him to attend. The Wayne family lawyers and PR team are tired. Also, the food is served in ridiculously small portions and that fucking sucks.
Cass: Like them for similar reasons to Dick. She loves getting dressed up - it makes her feel like one of the princesses in the animated movies that Dick loves so much. Her favorite part is getting to dance with her family. She especially loves that Bruce always makes sure to put away his Brucie persona to do a Father-Daughter dance with her. She also always wears a pair of beautiful pearl earrings that Bruce gave her when he adopted her. They were once a part of his mother’s favorite necklace (you know the one).
Tim: Doesn’t care for them, but usually doesn’t despise them like some of his siblings. They were a pretty routine part of his childhood, so he is fairly desensitized to the glitz and glam. He is a pro at dealing with insufferable socialites and tends to be on damage control for his siblings.
Duke: At first the idea of attending rich people parties caused him a lot of anxiety, but after his first one, he came to love them much like Dick. Rich people are so fucking strange. It’s like getting to go to the zoo but the animals are trying to share their opinion on social reform with you. Absolutely bonkers. 10/10 entertainment.
Damian: Would rather have to fight Condiment King. There are too many people patronizing him. There are too many opportunities for enemies to hide in plain sight and strike when he and his family are defenseless. There are too many smells and lights and his clothes itch and his father insists on humiliating himself and besmirching their family’s name. The only good part of the night is when Todd inevitably beats the snot out of some imbecile and is dragged off like the hooligan he is.
Stephanie: Has a lot of fun with them. She is not Bruce’s kid, but sometimes tags along as one of his kids plus one (Tim or Cass, take your pick. I am partial to StephCass because gay, but it really doesn’t matter). She and Cass have an epic shopping spree before each event getting new shoes and clothes. The day of, they pamper themselves with hair, makeup, and nail appointments at exclusive spas. They spend way too much time taking pictures of themselves and each other to post to social media. It’s like prom, but even better because she is no longer an awkward teenager. She loves people-watching with Dick and Duke and dances the night away with Cass.

Kate is such an interesting foil to antiheroes and conflicted superheroes.
Because here's the thing. Kate is Good. She is a Good Hero. She Does Good Things. She does not do Evil Things. The general perception of her is good. Dependable. Reliable. Level-headed. Welcoming. And she is all of those things!
She wholeheartedly loves being a superhero. She doesn't worry about the morality of it, or grapple with the power that gives her, or the weight of that responsibility (usually). She just goes out and does it.
But she also canonically shoots people in the fucking throat, and unless she's hitting the ONE bone in front of your throat, that's not going to end well for you. She's effectively set fire to a mansion. She used a grenade launcher to take down part of NYC's power grid. She stabbed Wade Wilson in the chest for scaring her!!!
This woman is fucking insane.
Like. If you remove one moral block from the jenga tower of Kate's psyche, the whole thing falls. And honestly, that brick is just the Young Avengers. Best case scenario with no YA, she becomes a vapid heiress. Worst case scenario she decides she's fuckin done with the cops and becomes a very violent vigilante.
And I don't think that's a stretch because I think that's already in her! She could easily become a brooding angsty vigilante. She's physically and mentally capable of doing vast amounts of harm to others (physical and mental harm)
I think that's why I love the dynamic of her and Wade. Wade sees that about her. That she not only can do great violence but that she a. Chooses not to and b. Needs an outlet for it
And she's not scared of that part of her. I don't know how much she consciously realizes that part of her exists? But if she does I don't think she even thinks it's something to be controlled or fought. It's just a part of her that's not Nice and pretty rich girls should, above all else, be Nice.
(Kate Bishop is not nice. She's good. There's a difference.)
Maybe it's pragmatism. She sees what needs to be done and does it. It's either never acting on impulse or acting on impulse all the time. And just because she knows she shouldn't do the thing, because it's morally wrong, doesn't mean she's not capable of it.
Idk just been thinking about this lately

I love the idea that Dick got adhd.
I think it's an important part of his personality.
After his parents death it kind of got worse. He couldn't stay still and he was incapable of focusing. Bruce understood that it wasn't normal after eating breakfast with him for the first time.
That happened the fifth week after Dick first came to the manor. Bruce wasn't quite awake but the little boy in front of him definitely was.
'' Alfred? Alfred? Alfreeedd? '' said the younger while looking at his glass full of milk. The butler didn't even reacted, he served Bruce his coffee like he hadn't heard anything. Which was weird since Richard was speaking loud enough to be heard from the kitchen.
Bruce frowned. ''Why aren't you answering?''
Alfred smiled softly ''he does not want me to answer. He is most certainly not aware that he is doing this. ''It was confusing. Why would he call Alfred if he didn't want to talk to him. Realizing that Bruce didn't understand Alfred continued.'' I believe it is called polling. He use it as a way to stimulate his brain. "

Hyperfixation being the cause of most of my writing is so frustrating cause I have multiple 30k+ word fics just sitting in my documents that I refuse to post because they aren’t finished but are also very much not being worked on. Obviously the point is that I write them for myself but it’s also nice to share that stuff considering all the work I put in, but I doubt I’ll even finish them cause the hyper focus is gone, so they’re just kind of lost to the depth of my Google docs.

I'm not against the 'Dick Grayson is a ray of sunshine' trope if it's done CORRECTLY because it has evidence in canon-Yeah,Dick IS very sweet and silly and nurturing,it comes with being a good eldest sibling speaking as an irl one-but the fandom always uses it to infantalize him and it feels so condesending and insulting to me as someone who's a lot like him and finds him extremely relatable????It feels so much like a desperate attempt to force the 'kind means naive' mentality onto him and that's just not true when it comes to him.Dick is a genius who's helped saved the world many,MANY times with his smarts and he's got so much trauma that he all but explicitly has ptsd, possibly depression and maybe even more mental illnesses and him actively choosing to be nice to others and have a big sense of fun does NOT mean he's stupid.Stop treating him like he dosen't know anything or can't take of himself,he's a grown ass man with a husband and wife and kids and everything, not a doofus teenage boy!!Y'all are so mean to him and for what smfh
