My personal rough BAT fam timeline

Bruce Wayne was nine when he witnessed his parents was shot, he was 18 when he traveled the world (he grew up with other former JSA Masters teaching him in America but he was 18 when he went on a world adventure by himself)

He was 19 when he returned and when he first became "Batman. "

Katherine Kane was in her late twenties when her husband was murdered in front of her and her daughter Bette, she remembered hearing stories of her late eldest sister Martha being murdered by Gotham but she had left way before katherine even knew enough about Martha.

Dick Grayson would be 9 years old when he was first taken in as a ward by eligible bachelor and Playboy Bruce Wayne celebrating his 21st birthday.

he spent 3 years training supervised with Batman.

Robin would be 12 when he was first allowed to go on patrol alone. Robin would be named after his mother's nickname for him seeing as he was born on the 1st of spring the Grayson's Little Robin.

Bette Kane and Catherine Kane became became bat girl and batwoman, when Betty was 11 (she's only a half a year younger than dick).

Barbara Gordon would be 20 when she first joined the scene as batgirl(she is roughly halfway between Bruce and Dick's age)

Time jump

At age 15 dick would form The Titans with some of his fellow peers Donna, Roy Garth, Wally. (In New York City)

At 18 he would leave the nest and recreate the Teen Titans dubbing the new Teen Titans

(and West Coast would have their own Titans made by Betty called "Titan's West Coast" in jump City

At 19 dick would be kidnapped by the al ghul family after he met a name Talia Al ghoul in meds class

At age 20 he will drop out of college.

At 21 dick would become Nightwing for the first time. Inspired by his "uncle" Clark, Bette following in her cousin's footsteps would become flame bird

Jason Todd would be taking in (12)

and later become Robin (at 13)

Notable additions I had

The kanes being more prominent, Betty and Dick remaining having their friendship.(also simplifying the Kane's family tree for Bette)

Catherine was way too young to even raise Bruce but Alfred was also dubbed Bruce's godfather and first in line for Bruce's custody should his parents die.

Keeping the pre crisis origin of Barbara being younger than Bruce but older than dick but still an adult able to go to college for bachelor's degree..

Jason Todd having less than a year to convince Bruce to send him on to patrol.

Keeping the origin that Talia first met dick at college for med school (she's probably way older but they were in the same class as she took college a little later)

And I haven't even gotten to Tim yet.

Random Jason Todd(DC) Fandom Headcanons I Support

Warning for Angst and Good Siblings.

This is a long Headcanon. Stay with me.

Note: It's a fanmade Headcanon for a reason. Calm down. Don't like it? Ignore it.

After Jason began to work more with the bats, he noticed that the memorial case in the cave was still standing.

He spoke to Bruce about said case one night after patrol out of curiosity, but Bruce danced around the reason for it still being up.

Getting into a verbal argument that drew the attention of his siblings Damian and Cassandra, Jason stormed off from the cave with his movements reading that of pain(Cassandra's observation) and it prompted the two former assassins to follow him.

After searching multiple safehouses of his, they found him at one that was a little unused. They ended up listening in on a phone call between him and Roy Harper that went along the lines of "I can't stand seeing that case! It's just another reminder to me that I failed as Robin. A reminder of my death."

Disturbed and enraged by Jason's clear distain for the case, both of them brought it up with Dick and the other batkids, who echoed their own anger.

All the kids(Dick, Cassandra, Tim, Stephanie, Duke, and Damian) met down in the cave one evening when Bruce was on a business trip and Alfred was off with Jason on a little night walk on manor grounds.

They then proceeded to take turns bashing a bat against the case until it was completely destroyed. Alfred knew about this and left the mess for the others to clean, which they did.

When Bruce found out, he was furious of course, but the others threatened to destroy the case again if it ever showed back up.

Jason found out a day later when he returned from patrol to find a brooding Bruce and an empty spot where the case was now missing.

When he asked what happened, Damian shrugged and Cassandra tapped Jason's back with a kind hand, saying 'Little Brother is alive, not dead.'

He will deny wanting to cry and will deny having pulled his older sister and little brother into a tight hug.

ML x Batman: Arkham’s princess AU headcanons part 4: Batman and the Batfam

And we’re back with a new headcanons part for the “Arkham’s princess AU”!

This little part will focus on Batman/Bruce Wayne and the Batfam! ^^

Warning: English is not my first language so sorry if it’s confusing.

Warning 2: This AU content salt don’t like don’t read!

-Batman/Bruce Wayne in this AU is the “Batman the animated serie” version.

-His opinion on Bridgette: when Bruce learned what the former warden of Arkham did to the patients, Bruce felt guilty ‘cause he financed the asylum thinking it would help to heal the patients and as Batman he was convinced Arkham was the best solution to help the Rogues so finding out what was actually going on inside the asylum throw him in a big guilt feeling. So when Bridgette became Arkham’s new warden he keep a very good eye on her at first just in case. When he saw she actually help the patients and got good results he grow a respect for her.

-Marinette’s birth: Batman intervened when Arkham got a massive breakout and when the crisis was stopped he witnessed some of the most dangerous Rogues of Arkham protecting Bridgette Cheng’s sister and helping her to give birth to her baby.

-And when after the accident Sabine asked the Rogues become Marinette’s godparents, he was even more shocked but seeing the Rogues acting around the Dupain-Cheng family and Bridgette Cheng and a so human way give him hope for the future.

-The Rogues being way less psychotic despite being still criminals also give Batman hope, it mean they’re progressing which was a good start.

-When Marinette came back to Gotham and the Rogues warned him they would “kidnap” their goddaughter sometimes to teach her classes, he was very septical about it, sure the Rogues made good progress but they’re still criminals.

-So when he was proposed to assit at the classes to keep an eye on the classes he accept and keep a very close eye on the holding of those classes.

-When Batman and the Rogues find out about Marinette’s hero identity, Batman was internally freaking out, why the hell was a teenager was given a powerfull magical artifact and expected to fight some crazy magical terrorist without any proper training? And why the Justice League wasn’t being made aware of the Paris’s situation? He will defenetly had a word with them when the occasion come!

-Well turn out Ladybug did send a message to the Justice League to aks them help against Hawkmoth but someone deleted the messages thinking it was a joke(*cough*Guy Gardner*cough*).

-When Marinette became close with the Wayne, Bruce became fond of her.

-When Alya slander Marinette on the Ladyblog and Marinette’s parents consider to take the matter to court, Bruce proposed them to help them to got a very good lawyer.

-At some point Batman will propose to Marinette his and the Batfam’s assistance against Hawkmoth.

-As for the Batfam, they were surprised by how the Rogues were changing.

-Some like Jason were rather septical Rogues like the Joker would actually became saner and change.

-If one of the Batboys became Marinette’s boyfriend, the others would tease him.

-Jason like to call Marinette “Pixie Pop”.

-Damian defied Marinette to see if she was strong, despite the fight being hard she beat him and Damian get a new respect for her.

-Tim and Marinette are video games buddies.

-Dick like to call Marinette “Nettie”.

Wait there really is an existing meta tells us that Fushimi is even in worse state after joining S4? Like, is that guy just hate Scepter 4 nonsensely but simping so hard on Fushimi or something?

I admit it’s not as bad as the sound. I just found an opinion that said Munakata reminded Fushimi of Niki and the fact that Fushimi chose someone who resembled Niki as his authority figure is quite unhealthy for his mental health.

Problem is, Munakata IS NOT in any ways similar with Niki. It’s such a grave insult for my King Munakata to be said resembled the piece of toxic waste that is Niki. Literally the only thing similar between them is their genius mind, and the scene when Munakata reminded Fushimi of Niki is only on puzzle scene, but even Fushimi added that Niki is genius BUT he didn’t use his genius mind to do something worthwhile. Other than that? Even in the most annoyed time of Fushimi handling Munakata’s antics, there’s no single scene about Fushimi thinks “ah, this guy is annoying like Niki”. Yes Munakata is quite sadistic (Fushimi said so in Scepter 4 commentary Drama CD), he’s manipulative, and often drags Fushimi on many activities that he’s very reluctant to do so (King’s game, Flower Viewing, Fishing), but Fushimi never ever thinks that Munakata acts “like Niki”. Fushimi is not masochist or someone with Stockholm Syndrom, even though he didn’t enjoy any of Munakata’s bonding activities (at least in the beginning), he knows that Munakata sincerely wants Fushimi to enjoy them too, unlike Niki who did all his stuff because Fushimi’s suffering face amused him.

If anything, Munakata is definitely an anti-Niki. Like his whole acts and perspective are so so the opposite of Niki (or any of Fushimi’s parents). For example :

1. Fushimi’s parent ignored him on unlocked manor because “Nothing valuable can be stolen”. Munakata was literally ready to fight two kings to “steal” Fushimi, and I’m sure Scepter4 dormitory is one of the safest place in the world.

2. Niki destroyed all things Fushimi enjoyed, and Fushimi develops “everything will be destroyed anyway” mentality. Munakata proved him wrong by making indestructible sandcastle with other Scepter4 members.

3. Niki named him Saru (monkey) because baby Saru is ugly like monkey (in his worthless opinion. Excuse you, baby Fushimi is the cutest). Somehow, of all Niki’s bad things, this act angers me the most. I like my name, proud of it, and so happy to learn why and how my father named me. My handlename is actually the meaning of my name in English. Name is symbol of your parents pride and hope for you. And you know who gave Fushimi a name that represent his pride and hope for Fushimi? Munakata. He named Fushimi’s saber Subaru, meaning to govern or unite. Subaru in astronomy means “cluster of blue stars that gathers together”. An analysis also said Subaru means Munakata sees Fushimi as someone who can unite his Red and Blue power to create a whole, a complete style of fighting that is Saruhiko’s style. Like, you can feel how much thought and care Munakata poured on naming Fushimi’s saber (that’s why people can rip off my headcanon about Fushimi gets adopted by Munakata’s family and his name changes into Munakata Subaru from my cold, dead hand).

And you know what? Even in the most hurtful moment between two of them, a.k.a their staged fight on ROK episode 8, when some people already made fanart, gifs about Munakata changed into Niki in Fushimi’s eyes when he insulted Fushimi, Fushimi’s perspective about that scene is :

But maybe he shouldn’t have left the saber behind, after all? No, if you decided to do something, you must do it thoroughly, no half-assing - that was how you did it, too, no, Captain?

That’s right, on that scene in Fushimi’s eyes, Munakata DID NOT turn into Niki, he only thought, ah Captain truly didn’t do half-ass thing, just like how he is as usual. Munakata did his utmost ability to deliver his verbal abuse as real as he can, so no one would suspect the fight was staged, not people that present on the scene, not Green spies and surveillance cameras. And so Fushimi did the same, he did his utmost best to deliver the fight, as far as leaving his saber behind even though it’s not needed and he didn’t want to (awwww I often re-watches that scene after knowing their feeling toward each other on that scene because I am masochist as hell).

Conclusion is, Fushimi never sees Munakata as Niki’s resemblance or Niki substitute and Scepter 4 is goddamn healthy for his mental state. He literally said that he can breathe easier on that clan, seriously.

Alright, so I like the idea of Damian going off on his own and I like the idea of him discovering himself and what it means to be Damian Wayne apart from the legacies that both sides push on him.

What I want is for Damian to feel like he has no one to turn turn. Bruce of course is playing his whole come back and be Robin and pretend none of this happened - to which Damian feels cheated for that response. He did the things he did and he doesn't want everything to go back to normal....normal wasn't working. So he continues to be alone. Continues to feel isolated while he works that list of cases that went unsolved. Continues to be angry at his father's response to his behavior.

But then enters Dick Grayson. Nightwing. Someone who asks Damian the way behind what he did. Someone who asks Damian if he wants help. Someone patient. Someone who let's him take the lead and direct things and figure things out. They work well together. They communicate. Dick stops him if he goes too far, but over time that line gets easier and easier to walk back from. They are a good team. Damian starts to feel like he understands how we can operate and that he can forge his own path rather than the ones picked for him.

Ugh. I just don't want them to make Damian a bad guy. I don't. He deserves so much more than being a villain. I have a lot of feelings about this.

Empathy, Intelligence, and Judgment

I wanted to add to this wonderful post by @bigskydreaming based on a question by @russianspacegeckosexparty about how Dick Grayson and Scott McCall are treated by their respective fandoms (and I suspect that it can be applied to many other characters across media, especially minority characters) and I was struck by a recurring theme, in addition to the racism.

Fandoms (and I would argue, audiences as a whole) expect characters who are empathetic caregivers to only be empathetic caregivers. They have internalized the idea that only people who ‘don’t understand how the world works’ could practice universal empathy and care. Thus, if a character cares about everyone to some extent, they have to be stupid. (I call this the “John Coffey Effect,” but I won’t go into greater detail because it ties back to a weird popular twisting of my religion, but I think you’ll catch my drift without me explaining it.)

Thus, Dick Grayson and Scott McCall can’t be as smart as say Jason Todd or Sidekick Who Shall Not Be Named because they care too much. If they were smart, they would save their empathy for the people who most sincerely deserve it, i.e. badly behaving white men to whom the fandom is attracted.

While at the same time, and it is a paradox with which fandom is entirely comfortable, when characters like Dick Grayson and Scott McCall hold someone accountable for their actions, like Dick distancing himself from Bruce or Scott refusing to even consider submitting to Derek, it becomes rank hypocrisy. How can they claim their position as empathetic caregivers if the amount of empathy and care they give to others is dependent on their evaluation of another’s actions?

Now, I haven’t read the Ric Grayson storyline, but I’m pretty sure I know how that song goes. When Ric’s amnesia limits his empathy for these people trying to push their way into his life (when he’s the one who has gone through an incredible physical and mental ordeal), it’s portrayed as a flaw which he must overcome and the fandom treats it as a betrayal of his relationships. How dare he put himself first while recovering from a near-death experience and the accompanying mental trauma?

The same happened on Teen Wolf. The production presented it as a failure in leadership for Scott to actually believe that Stiles could very much kill someone to protect his father, when there were 68 episodes suggesting that Stiles would be comfortable with killing someone, with Stiles lying, and with Stiles engaging in violent actions to protect his father. (At the same time having refused to distrust Theo, who has proven his good intentions by helping save every member of the pack, against Stiles’s accusation based solely on a gut feeling.)

But the production’s punishment was small taters compared to fandom’s wrath. He was judgmental and a bad friend because of this, just as he was stubborn for not following a man who broke into his bedroom and threatened to kill him and foolish for not letting sixteen-year-olds led by a dumbass to execute his classmates based on a hunch. These same people hold it against him because he imprisoned Peter in a questionable mental institution after he figured out that he helped Kate transform him into a mindless berserker and because he didn’t rush forward to stop Theo, a person who murdered him, from being dragged to hell by his sister whom Theo also helped murder. He was the only one who stepped forward, but that’s not enough.

At the end of the Green Mile, John Coffey is confronted by one of the prison guards who is in charge of executing him for a crime he didn’t commit. The guard (wonderfully played by Tom Hanks) complains about how he didn’t know how he was going to live with himself for executing an innocent person, and John Coffey forgives him and tells him it’s okay. The scene is excruciating in its trite moralizing, but that’s the type of behavior that the audience wants from empathetic caregivers, especially minority empathetic caregivers, to emulate.

I still like the ending, because it implies that the guard is punished for this decision by God or the universe or what-have-you by living long enough to see everyone he loves die while he lingers on.

If the minority character doesn’t, if they have limits, if they reject the selfishness of others, they’re hypocritical judgmental assholes. See how that works?
