“Bruce is emotionally incompetent and can’t step outside his own morality” yeah it’s a character flaw.
“Dick is extremely stubborn and thinks he’s right all the time” yeah it’s a character flaw.
“Jason has hypocritical tendencies” yeah it’s a character flaw.
“ Tim is entitled and doesn’t think about people when seeking results, and often acts uncaring” yeah it’s a character flaw.
“Damian is rude and bratty” yeah, it’s a character flaw.
Also, some people may not even regard everything listed above as flaws.
Having negative traits allows incredible flexibility within your characters, what makes them intriguing, what makes them easy to relate to. If you want to write people, then write people. But they can’t be good and clean all the time.

More character designs - this time, every kid sidekick to work with or for Batman ever, because I got massively carried away. In order:
Dick Grayson, 28 (Robin I / Nightwing)
Barbara Gordon, 30 (Batgirl I / Oracle)
Jason Todd, 22 (physically 20) (Robin II / Red Hood)
Tim Drake, 17 (Robin III / Red Robin)
Stephanie Brown, 17 (Robin IV / Batgirl III)
Cassandra Cain, 19 (Batgirl II / Black Bat)
Damian Wayne, 10 (Robin V)
Duke Thomas, 15 (Signal)
Carrie Kelly, 13 (Robin ??? Look I love her too much to leave her off a list like this but I'll be the first to admit I've got no clue where she would actually fall)
Harper Row, 18 (Blue Bird)
Cullen Row, 12
Terry McGuiness, 3? (a baby, I guess? In this timeline at least?)
Jarro the Starro in a Jar, 0 (Best Robin by far)
Tiffany Fox, 14 (Batgirl IV?)
Bette Kane, 25 (Batgirl / Flamebird / Snuck in without being noticed)
I don't know if I'll ever add to this in terms of a story, but it was a lot of fun to come up with different faces for everyone, trying to account for things like age, face shape, life experiences, in one case species (still can't believe we were blessed with starfish-robin from space, 10/10 no notes)
Some poor Justice Leaguer: "So, how many kids ya got?"
Batman: *screaming*

I woke up thinking about selkies, and am now rotating Selkie batfam. And things like even when communication between them is at its worst they still trust each other to leave their skins with each other. And them learning to trust their friends and people outside the family to start doing the same with them too y'know.
Also just rotating big seal Bruce with his lil loaf children curled up with him both at home and in a room on the Watchtower. And also rotating what types of seals each of them appear like.

After the tower incident once Jason finally gains some semblance of his mind back he implements a city wide hands off rule for Robin. Anyone even thinks about touching Robin and and Hood puts a bullet between their eyes.

idea: jason is the zuko of the batfam
but not in the "villain gets redeemed in a painful but satisfying story arc" kinda way
but that he's "the guy his siblings have a life-changing field trip with" type of deal
(bruce has yet to have one of these trips with him, which is stupid bc what part of "siblings" do you not understand, you old fart??? 🙄😒)

The Agony: Red Hood!Steph's civilian style is 1000% Pastel Punk, but 99% of reference images I can find for that style expose waaaaaay more skin than I think she'd be comfortable showing with all her scars.

I think we should have the Batfamily treat the batarangs like business cards. For both branding and comedic purposes. I’ve only really seen the bats having personal batarangs a few times. Like yeah, they all usually use the company provided stock batarangs, but they also have their own personal ones that they use if they really need to send a message of who threw it. (Or pass the blame for throwing it by using someone else’s).
Imagine a league member meeting some random Batfamily member for the first time and asking for an autograph and then they pull out a business card holder filled with batarangs. I’d imagine Steph doing that (they’re pre-signed and have an professional looking address that leads to a Waffle House), and when questioned she’d just say “It’s important to make a good impression when making connections and a good business card can help keep you in people’s mind” just quoting something Bruce probably told her once.
Here’s some ideas on how I think they could look. Obviously Batman has the stock batarangs along with all the evolutions it’s gone through over the years, nightwing has his Wingdings, but the one that can drive personalized rangs home are the Robin disks, because it feels like it’s really back and forth whether robins have their own designed rangs or just use the bat ones. Spoiler and signal could use purple and yellow ones, and I imagine red hood uses the red bat emblem on his chest. Orphan’s could look like stock batarangs at first glance but upon close inspection you’d find the stitched mouth design embossed or engraved in it. Red Robin I feel like would either keep using Robin disks but red or he’d redesign them using his “double R” logo.
I got nothing for the extended Batfamily since I haven’t read pretty much anything with them but off the top of my head I’d imagine Kate using batarangs that are outlined with red like her hair.

watching people take the batfamily and make them all happy fluffy can do no wrong people that are literally unrecognizable from the actual characters is one of the worst things to happen imo. has anybody here considered that some of us enjoy messed up dynamics. the satisfaction of mending a broken relationship means nothing if you rewrite it so that the relationship was never broken in the first place!!!!

DP x DC idea:
Paulina Sanchez becomes the Wayne family's new PR manager. She works hand-in-hand with Alfred and Tim's secretary (maybe another Amity Parker?) to coordinate meetings with the press and keeps a lid on the family's more unique civilian adventures.
Everything is going well until she suddenly comes onto the comm system late at night, startling Nightwing so badly that he almost misses his next flip.
"Robin, don't forget to assist the civilian. They're recording the fight and will probably post it on their Instagram later."
"Batman, turn to the left a little bit. The street lamp is casting an ugly shadow; you need to seem more mysterious."
"Red Hood, don't forget to return the heads of the gang leaders in a canvas bag this time, not polyester. It'll add to the ambiance of the situation."
Little snippets like these filled their ears each and every night, despite all surveillance indicating that Miss Sanchez was home asleep in her bed. Was someone copying the manager's voice on purpose? Why couldn't they trace where the extra comm signal was coming from? Was Paulina Sanchez a spy sent to rattle their resolve? What was going on???
It was a lot more innocent than the paranoid-stricken Waynes thought. Paulina was simply doing her job according to Amity Park's logic.
Most people didn't have some weird lair in their basement, usually filled with world-ending secrets. But 9/10 Amity Parkers did, so it was a cinch to find the entrance to the Batcave on her first day. And when Paulina signed on as a manager, she didn't realize that the job did not extend to the family's nightlife. Nor did she realize that no one else knew who the Batfamily were since Amity Parkers could clock secret identities in an instant. (Thanks for that wish, Wes.)
So while the Waynes are freaking out about the breach in their system, Paulina is mentally patting herself on the back for being so good at her job. She even utilized her hard-earned sneaking-out and liminal skills to create a fake body double to confuse any aggressive intruders that crept into her apartment while she was gone. And honestly, the Bats have never had such a positive online reputation! Getting Tucker to encrypt her secondary social medias was the right call. Now she can post about her bosses without anything being traced back to her.
Paulina is a little peeved about her overtime pay not showing up on her paychecks, however. Maybe she'll bring that up to Mr. Wayne the next time she sees him.
