A Future Return For O.W.C.A. Files? (Discussion):

O.W.C.A Files is a 1 hour special that premiered on Disney XD November 9, 2015 a while after Phineas And Ferb’s “final” episode.

It was one of the possible spin-offs the creators thought about doing, but it didn’t really go anywhere. It followed the B-plot characters post Doofenshmirtz turning good which is a smart idea for a spin-off since most people tended to like the B-part of the story better while more were bored with the A-plot.

However, among the fanbase it is a pretty controversial episode. Some complaints are that Doofenshmirtz is too annoying in the episode, the character design isn’t great, animation is mediocre, the pacing isn’t good, and the existence of the “Bits of All Of Us” song which some found very pre-school-like.

It definitely could have used Norm or Vanessa to balance out the absence of another talking being while also toning down Doof’s annoying-ness over the course of a series, but I still think it was a pretty solid episode with other Phineas And Ferb level songs and shows the Doof n’ Perry action packed secret agent show spin-off that could have been.

Other spin-offs like a Fireside Girls one and Doof 101 were also contemplated, but out of many different show pitches, Milo Murphy’s Law would ultimately become the next show Dan and Swampy would work on instead, as well as the next Dwampyverse show.

But could O.W.C.A. Files still be?

Before the revival was announced the creators have always talked about how they might one day revisit the show in “the next summer”.

Since it’s starting to look more and more like the Phineas And Ferb Revival will take place in the next summer while also visiting other episodes of the characters in the future it is possible that we could see an O.W.C.A. Files like B-Plot in a future episode once again, especially since Doofenshmirtz might likely be good after he turned good in the Season 4 Finale and after the events of Milo Murphy’s Law.

Doof does return to evil in the timeline though.

When it comes to the episodes that Doof is still evil in, but take place after the events of the Summer, (the Christmas and New Years specials/ etc.), Co-Creator Dan Povenmire’s explanation was that sometime after the events of Doof 101 (the fall after the summer) and before or after OWCA Files (I forget) Doof relapsed to an evil phase again which is believable, but after the events of Milo Murphy’s Law where his new, less evil, destiny is revealed it is less likely the creators will want to make him evil again unless they decide to switch of the Dwampyverse timeline once again🫠.

Milo Murphy’s Law and O.W.C.A. files both proved the B-Plot does not rely on Doofenshmirtz to be evil for entertainment. Not to mention some of the most memorable moments of the B-plot in the series have Doof being pretty tame and actually working together with Perry to accomplish a task.

However, it still seems unclear whether the crew or executives will decide to make him evil again or not in order to capture the same charm of the original show. We’ll just have to wait for the next announcement of new details soon.

Overall, it’s probably about a 50/50 chance whether the B-Plot will be an O.W.C.A. Files like Doof n Perry duo fighting evil, or not.

Even if nothing like that appears in the revival, Povenmire did sign a deal with Disney to make additional shows for the Disney Channel, including properties for the Dwampyverse, which means something like O.W.C.A. Files could still be on the table as a future show.

Jeff Buckley, an overlooked inspiration

In a society dominated by artists such as Taylor Swift and One Direction, it is difficult for songwriters of equal or greater talent to achieve the same level of fame if they don't adhere to the conventions of today's popular music.

According to Rolling Stone magazine, Jeff Buckley is considered the 39th greatest singer of all time, surpassing Mariah Carey (79), Christina Aguilera (58) and Brian Wilson (52). This may be a surprising fact, considering that Buckley is generally less notable amongst the general population compared to the likes of Carey.

However, his vocals are immediately attention-grabbing, and it's not necessarily because of his wide vocal range. Longwood sophomore and listener of Buckley, Joel Worford explains that it's his emotion that makes his vocals feel so powerful.

"The big thing about Jeff Buckley was the way that his voice conveyed emotions... through his vocal tone, as a listener, he made you feel a certain way," Worford said.

So, with acclaim from a popular magazine such as Rolling Stone, one may wonder why Buckley isn't as well-known as his peers on the list of 100 greatest singers of all time.

One reason for this may be that Buckley passed away shortly after releasing his first album, "Grace." Another reason may be the amount of profundity that Buckley tries to provoke within the listener.

"I think his music is too complicated, and his lyrics touch on subjects that are foreign to most people. If you've never felt loss or loneliness, then his lyrics aren't going to mean anything to you... His lyrics really transcend basic feelings," Worford said.

Buckley also purposefully tries to stray away from the norm with the way he writes his music. His songs tend to be longer than the three to four minutes of the average pop song. For example, his song "Lover, You Should've Come Over" is six minutes and 43 seconds. His music also features aspects of Eastern music and vocal experimentation. In his song "Grace," he almost sounds as if he is shrieking by the end of the song.

Despite Buckley's tendency to deviate from the average, his music is still relatable to a lot of people. He has been covered many times, specifically his rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."

Buckley's version of this song is generally the first to show up in the search results for the song "Hallelujah" on iTunes, ahead of Cohen's original version. This song also gained popularity from being covered multiple times on talent shows like America's Got Talent.

Buckley has been a huge influence on Worford, as a musician. He said that he is influenced "mainly by (Buckley's) lyrics because his lyrics are more like poetry... And his guitar playing is just really tight."

Although Buckley only released one album, his music proves that there still may be room for growth and diversity in a world that is dominated by pop stars. With Buckley as an example, there are more underrepresented artists and genres that need to be heard and explored.

Worford encourages others to give Buckley's music a chance.

"I would suggest to anyone to listen to Jeff Buckley," he said. "You just never know who it's going to click with, and for the people who it does, it's amazing."

Sometimes I miss what the whole Harry Potter universe was to me. The feeling of returning to a kind of "home" once you've opened the books. The odd excitement of starting a movie marathon or finding some great new fanfiction to read. The hours spent on the Harry Potter Fandom Wiki reading through every post existing and learning about every single fact and background story. The conversations about favourite parts, theories and the own Hogwarts house. Complementing the merchandise from strangers on the street and sorting classmates into the four houses. And although the Harry Potter universe will always remain my favourite fandom, it was just a big part of my youth that is just over now.

I just think it's funny that...

the loudest part of this fandom has been begging for queer!Buck for years. but, the second they actually give the fandom what they want, and Buck has a canon boyfriend, a date he is taking to his sister's wedding, someone he can't stop thinking about, that's... wrong?

you got the rep you were begging for. we have the actor and the rest of the cast openly saying a character is bisexual. we are getting exactly what we asked for.

but now it's not good enough because it's not exactly who you want him to be with?

the definition of bisexuality is not I love every single woman in the world and that one guy. there are a million essays on this very site that go into exactly how biphobic that mindset actually is. it perpetuates the finer details of the patriarchy that everyone hates until it serves their purpose.

you're allowed to not ship something, but to say it's not canon or block a wiki page from being edited to state their relationship is actually extremely biphobic. you got what you want and now you're attacking it. I think that says a lot more about you than it says about the writers who are denying you something they never promised in the first place.

listen. i know. i know fandom wikis being decent entirely relies on whether there are people who both want to obsessively categorize things enough to fill out the wiki, with the free time to do that kind of obsessive categorization, and the desire to manage it all as a wiki. believe me, i know. but please i'm just trying to do research please, please at least bigb's page was just Entirely Empty so i knew i had useless information and just left. why the fuck did the mafia's page, by contrast, have this:

i don't know shit about dick about tv show marketing, but what's the benefit to dropping a whole series at once, compared to one a week? i know boardroom people run absolutely everything that crosses their path through a cost-benefit analysis, but one episode a week guarantees discussion for months, right? is there something to releasing everything at once, or is the expectation that you'll chew through a whole show in a day or two, talk about it with friends, then almost immediately move on?
