I like how this page, especially the last panel (from the Fangirl manga) perfectly captures the vibe of their rivalry as described by Penny, who never had the time or the patience for it, like "at the height of the war you were getting into silly little shoving contests" (and just like she didn't believe Baz actually wanted to hurt Simon, she likely didn't believe Simon actually wanted to hurt Baz either)

Also the fact that the chimera incident is reframed as "that was totally Baz flirting, Simon should've know he wasn't serious about Agatha cuz he never tried to get her eaten by one!" and "Simon was totally being romantic by slaying it, wdym Baz doesn't know he loves him??" means that whenever they weren't being truly juvenile little shits, they were simply unhinged in ways only comprehensible to them

pretty sure this is a joyful dig at rainbow herself – in the fangirl novel, the story cath writes with nick is in second person, present tense – and in fact, the snippet of their story visible on the same page of the manga is in second person, not first. (but, ya know, rainbow's carry on is first person present tense...)
