Something that struck me extra on this LLTG rewatch - how subtle yet unmistakable the narrative is about the fact that being sheltered and spoiled as a woman is a recipe for disaster.

NN, ill-educated STEM feral child, gets how important marriage partner choice is more than all the rest of them, properly brought up in womanly virtues.

No, I don't mean she yearns for true love (she gets it, eventually, but that is not what she hopes or looks for) - but what she gets and a lot of the rest of the young women we see do not, is that you want a husband you can like and get along with, who can let you be yourself (and who is also acceptable socially because she's pragmatic.)

That is why her first choice, until it's OBE, is Yao - he's sweet and he's a friend and she knows she'd be the boss in that marriage. All the ladies in the capital swoon for Ling Buyi but she is never consciously swayed. She doesn't realize he likes her and she's not someone to build fantasies/pine for someone she can't have (in a way, knowing the man likes her is a necessary precondition for her to be even able to open her heart - she's spent too much of her childhood fruitlessly yearning for familial love to want to repeat that in her marriage.) Yao openly adores her so this allows her to consider him as a partner (that is why Scholar dude never had a chance btw, his courtship style is negging and NN is the last person that would work for.)

In fact, even after she knows Ling Buyi likes her, she is NOT excited to marry him because she doesn't want someone too high a status compared to her and someone as strong-willed as him because what she sees, and a lot of the rest of women looking for husbands in this story do not, that if there is a huge status disparity and a man is used to getting his own way, there is a risk of having yourself subsumed. A lot of the latter half is the two awkward, scarred by various trauma young people navigating boundaries of their relationship and what is OK for them and what is not (Ling Buyi IS used to barking orders, NN is overly defensive about even the slightest suggestions - they eventually meet in the middle and it's lovely but it's even more lovely that the drama shows it takes work and conversations and compromises.)

The thing that she gets, perhaps because she's a pragmatic survivor, is how the choice of a husband is the most important thing for a woman in that society. Her life fully depends on that, even more than of e.g., an Austen heroine, because in addition to those hurdles, this is a polygamous society (so how many other women brought in and how husband treats the legal wife versus concubines etc also is an issue) AND a society where if your husband goes down, you and your kids will be executed/enslaved along with him. We see how badly wrong marriages can go - Yao's eventual wife's first marriage is a great example, where she marries a man who abuses her and kills her family. Or even that one woman who marries a general who dotes on her and is a great husband, but commits treason and is executed (and she's only spared by the grace of the emperor.)

And the fact that all those women swoon for Ling Buyi and want to marry him SHOWS how the sheltered/spoiled thing has fucked them up. Remember princess whatever? She is dead set on marrying Ling Buyi and it's insane to me. Yes, he's good-looking and quasi-son of the emperor who dotes on him (since it's safe to do so, he's outside the dynastic fight) but that's great for about three minutes and boasting at parties. She is so sheltered from reality, she does not think what it would be like to be married to him. I don't mean his revenge quest since nobody knows. I mean if he was exactly who he appears with no other goals. Ling Buyi dislikes her and makes it known. He's rude to her (he's rude in general. Hell, he's rude to his parental family, openly! And emperor lets him get away with it), he clearly looks down on her and at a couple of points he genuinely threatens her and her family with murder. He's not charming or gentle or considerate. THIS IS NOT A MAN YOU WANT TO MARRY OMG!!! It has clearly not occurred to her to think past being carried into this house, envy of all her girlfriends - day in, day out with a rude, violent man who is the emperor's favorite (so you can't really seek help from your family if he doesn't treat you well), who dislikes you and who is entitled to take other wives.

Anyway, I love NN and her pragmatic mind and that she makes Ling Buyi EARN her consent and her loyalty and her love. (But then she is ride or die for him, isn't she?)

To say that you’re infamous on the internet isn’t an exaggeration but a truth. No, you haven’t posted anything controversial regarding your marital status and haven’t gotten yourself into a crazy D-List influencer scandal; you’re infamous solely because of your erotica literature and, surprisingly, your in-laws were fine with it.

“Whatever brings home the money.” Your father-in-law would always chime. 

You weren't ashamed of your career, and it practically all started in college when you wanted to pass the time writing for your favorite fandom. In a short amount of time, you had gained a small devoted following on your blog that made a lightbulb switch go off in your head - what if I could do this for a living? And so you did. Fast forward three years, now you are making a comfortable living working from anywhere with a wifi signal available and have over 950k followers on your socials, all under your alias 'YN Finalis'. With that many followers, most people would feel worried about their personal life being breached, but you're not dumb; you like to keep your personal life on, what you like to call, "low battery" mode.

Here's what your near million followers do know about: you’re 24 pushing on 25, you've come from a rather wealthy background, you’re married to an athlete, you’ve written well over 40 original explicit stories, and you have a plethora of sex toys and contraptions in your master bedroom.

"He hasn't initiated sex with you in these last few months?" Chigiri gasps.

"More like in the entirety of our relationship." You cry as you pour out another glass. You pick up your laptop, frowning seeing everyone's solemn looks, and make your way to your living room couch. "I'm still a virgin for crying out loud, like who's still a virgin at 24?"

"Oh my god," Hiori looks like he was going to cry for you. "Maybe your husband's just shy? Could it be he hasn't found the right time for it?"

"But a whole year?" Bachira is next to speak. "No wonder your stories have been popping off, you've been super horny."

You try to hold back your drunken sniffles. "I just don't understand! It's not like I'm ugly or anything, plenty of people wanted to date me back in college! He comes home to a clean house, I make fantastic meals that aren't just a ham and turkey sandwich, and for his past birthday I even gifted him an all-paid trip to Okinawa!"

"Shit," Shidou whistles, "I'd fuck you if you made me a ham and turkey sandwich."

"Not now for jokes." Hiori scolds and his tone softens when he speaks to you, "Outside of sex, has your husband been good to you?"

You pinch the bridge of your nose in frustration. "God, yes. He's so good to me you have no idea."

It wasn't like Rin was neglecting you in other forms of intimacy. Hugs and brief kisses were frequent both in and outside of the house. He loves holding your hands, shopping for clothes with you, giving you forehead kisses, and kissing you 'good morning' and 'good night' every day. There was absolutely nothing wrong with him, other than the occasional 'I'm irritated and I need my space' phase that required a whole evening to himself - but that was beside the point.

"Have you guys even talked about it?" Hiori continues.

"Oh god, absolutely no, it's an arranged marriage for fuck sake. What if I come off too strong and he doesn't even see me like that? Then the whole marriage will just be awkward!"

"But he's willing to do all those other things you listed down, maybe he is just shy." Bachira retorts.

"You think maybe he swings the other way?" Shidou asks but it's genuine this time.

A long period of silence falls over everyone as they try to figure out what they could help you with. But ultimately this was your husband to figure out, Rin wasn't married to them and they don't even know who Rin Itoshi was.

“Ah, whatever!” You swirl the wine in your glass around, frowning at your sullen reflection. “Maybe we’ll just end up adopting a baby instead of having one, maybe his parents won’t be able to tell the difference. And maybe I’ll just have to resort to reading other smut to satisfy my lack of intimacy. Chigiri, when is that next chapter coming out?”

A few clicks are heard from the other side of the screen before he says, “You’re in luck, I’m about to have my friend beta read this and it should be up by tonight.”

Perfect, you thought.

Chigiri, whose online username is RedPanther, has the third most followers on the adult website that everyone in the group was a part of. He's known for his works centering around the tropes 'forced proximity' and 'enemies to lovers', often the smut he writes will include a steamy threesome that has some sort of pegging involved - but that's always towards the second to last chapter.

"Oh!" Bachira calls out your name with a smile, "Aren't you working on a new story yourself?"

“Remind me again,” Shidou leans forward, "what's this one about?"

You find yourself feeling slightly lighter now that you've vented and the topic has shifted to something you're more confident speaking about. After a few seconds of rummaging through your Word documents, you drag the file labeled "I CAN MAKE YOUR BED ROCK - rough outlines & ideas.doc" to the group chat. Rarely do you ever share your creativity flow with other people but, after your unwarranted trauma dump, you figure it was better than nothing.

"Funny enough, it's loosely based on my marriage." You confess sheepishly, "This is my way of coping with it, I guess."

"Nothing wrong with that." Hiori chimes in, "It's free compared to having a shitty therapist!"

"Damn woman," Shidou's pink eyes dart back and forth from the screen, eyebrows furrowing up and down as he makes his way through your well-detailed outline. "you need to get laid, ASAP."

You click open your story file to follow along. In the tags section, you listed: Arranged marriage, unrequited love/one-sided, brat tamer, BDSM, choking, spanking, spitting, breeding kink, cum slu–

Okay, maybe Shidou is right (which is a surprise), you do need to get laid. But it's also okay to get slightly defensive for the sake of your ego, right?

You playfully roll your eyes at your group mate. "Ok ok, no need to judge that hard coming from the person who literally writes degradation kinks for a living!"

"Well, I think this story will be your best one yet!" Chigiri and Bachira both flip you a thumbs up over on their end of the call.

After a few more exchanges of small story updates in everyone's life, you all decided to end the call since it was getting rather late in the afternoon and you have yet to get started on dinner. You briefly thank Chigiri for his upcoming update and hop off, just in time before you hear the familiar sounds of the front door opening.

"I'm back."

"Welcome back, Rin!"

You can't help but feel slightly embarrassed and guilty that you were essentially gossiping about your husband's lack of sex drive to your friend group, which he hardly knows about, when he comes home with a large bag of takeout and your favorite coffee order. Rin is dressed in his typical workout outfit, which consists of a black form-fitting t-shirt and grey sweatpants that were just loose enough that you can still make an outline of his 'magic jewels', as Bachira likes to write.

"Baby, you didn't have to." You quickly grab the items from his hands so he can set down his gym bag.

He hums in response, briefly kissing your forehead before making his way into the kitchen to fetch a tall glass of water. "You've been cooking all week so I wanted you to take a small break," Rin says with a smile.

Your ears go warm and mimic the smile back, “Thanks, how was practice today?”

He sighs through his nose and wipes away the remaining sweat-covered bangs sticking to his forehead. “Rougher than usual but nothing too crazy. Isagi was more annoying compared to yesterday.” Rin says with a small pout.

“Boo,” You stick your tongue out in agreement, “how dare he annoys my one and only husband?”

“Oh, shut up.” He flicks a finger to your cheek and lets out the slightest fake scoff.

After hydrating, Rin announces quietly that he’ll come back to eat as soon as he takes a shower and darts to the guest bedroom. And with that, you’re reminded of your odd predicament.

He is a good husband and knows that you care for him and vice versa. When both sets of parents first introduced you two, it was awkward and you knew from reading his background that he wasn’t the most sociable of people but you were, and still are, patient. This arranged marriage was more or less a business deal between fathers; your father held the CEO title at a top entertainment company in the nation and Rin’s father wanted to secure the spotlight for the growing star athlete. Rin didn’t say much during that meeting, and neither did you.

Your first kiss with him was also on your first date. It was at his apartment, both of you shared the same hobby of playing horror games, and you were sitting thigh to thigh on his two-seater couch. You were dying multiple rounds in, fingers bruised from button-mashing and mind-busied with inappropriate thoughts as you kept stealing glances at your painfully attractive fiance. It didn’t take long for Rin to notice because it was stupidly obvious. He sat his controller down, took one look at you, and asked, “Do you want me to kiss you?” with a weird little smile that was seemingly almost out of character from what you knew of him. And the kiss was … awkward to say the least. You remembered him leaning down and you were leaning up, mashing lips and a little bit of teeth together. No amount of research that you had done days prior could’ve prepped for that. And it was almost as if it was his first time kissing too, but you fixated on your inexperience than pay any mind to his mysterious relationship track record. 

One year later and you’re still stuck at first base.

As if on cue, you feel your phone give out a series of buzzes in your back pocket, already knowing that it’s from your online penpals. You break out from your thoughts and scroll to the top of the messages:

Bachira M. [BluntBangs] “You should try seducing him tonight!” Hiori Y. [ChoppyCyan] “You remember reading Chigiri’s fan favorite short story - “Till Death Do Us Part”? There was this one scene where the characters had to share one bed because the other bedroom got ruined by a leak! Maybe you can “accidentally” make that happen too?” Chigiri H. [RedPanther] “I remember I had a fun time writing that scene. You should definitely try and flirt with him, y/n.” Shidou R. [HornyDemon] “And if your husband won’t fuck you then I will /jk” Hiori Y. [ChoppyCyan] “Shut up you’ll fuck anything that has a pulse”

They weren’t necessarily wrong. You didn’t want this dynamic to potentially go on for another year or even for the rest of your life - trying wouldn’t hurt anyone, right? 

You quickly fill up a pitcher of water then peer into the spare guest room and notice warm lighting bleeding through the cracks coming from the bathroom door and the sounds of running water. With Rin still busy washing up, you take the liberty to start messing around for your impromptu operation. You weren’t exactly sure when or who suggested sleeping in separate bedrooms to start but, to your knowledge, this is the first time that you’ve actually sneaked around in his room.

You start with the closet, opening its double doors and seeing his clothes all hung in order and by color. His sneakers and cleats were all stored in separate clear cases in the bottom corner while there is a small center shelf in the middle that holds his cologne, deodorant, and moisturizer. He’s neat, you think to yourself before deciding that it’s probably best to leave his belongings alone and focus on ruining something in the room that was less personal. Next is the carefully made bed with extra fluffed pillows, then the freshly well-kept plants on the window sill, followed by the small framed photo of your wedding day on the bedside table. Guilt immediately rushes over your consciousness.

“No, this won’t do either.” You groan, suddenly feeling like this is the dumbest thing on earth now. “I should just give up.” 

“y/n?” Rin’s voice calls out and you snap your head towards his direction, soon to be met with a series of incoherent sputtering from the male as you realize that he’s completely wet and naked.

“Oh my god!” Hands and pitcher fly to your redden face as you try to come up with an excuse but nothing comes out the way you want it to, “I-I uh–water! I thought you needed more water–I’m sorry!”

You hear him scrambling around the room, most likely searching for a towel to cover up his impressive lower half. “You’re fine,” Rin’s voice sounds flustered and unusually high pitched, “just give me a second–”

“N-No I’m sorry! I don’t even know why I’m standing here I should just go and–” Closing your eyes might’ve been the worst choice all day because soon your body meets the wall and soon the floor, spilling the pitcher’s contents all over you in the process. 

Your phone vibrates again, text reading:

She committed the crime of um being written by kishimoto who both doesn’t know how to write women and somehow writes men in the gayest way possible specifically naruto and sasuke. Like the thing is naruto and sasuke ARE gay and also she gets so much hate for the crime of kishimoto writing her one dimensionally in love with sasuke. What is there to say, even? The OG Threat to my 90s anime brain, the only woman I've ever hated with such a passion she made me turn away from the color pink. I used to write fics with my friend where she got left behind on purpose so our OCs could join the Naruto and Sasuke team instead. I loathed this bitch until I was 16 and realized the author simply couldnt write women and decided it was time to make peace with Sakura. It is not her fault she's vaguely written and obsessive over Sasuke. She deserves better. Sasuke and Naruto still should be together and Sakura shouldnt be with Sasuke but I no longer believe this because I hate Sakura, it is because I love her. She deserves a spouse who will actually put in the time to treat her like the hero she is.

Misa Amane

she gets treated in-canon the way fandoms treat female characters that Threaten an m/m ship. it's like, "oh why don't you go sit in the corner and be pretty, misa, while the Men have intelligent conversation and pretend they aren't ten seconds from fucking each other, doesn't that sound nice?" it's infuriating. and MAYBE it's better now but i remember her getting treated the same way in fanfiction too, like we all need to do just as badly by our female secondary characters as fucking tsugumi ohba, but with the added insult of making her be alternately oblivious of the relationship between light and L or actively trying to sabotage it—incompetently, of course, because god forbid misa be allowed dignity or moments of cleverness.

she's one of the first characters I think of when I consider old school fandom misogyny. The annoying bitch and clingy crazy gf allegations were AFTER HER ASS. She's also a lot more intelligent than people gave her credit for, but most seem inclined to take the Very Biased word of our unreliable, narcissistic narrator and his homoerotic arch nemesis and claim that just because she's bubbly and into romance that she's also a complete moron. Which is blatantly untrue. Everyone was afraid of Misa girlbossing too hard. Killing people and devoting yourself to the deranged twink of your dreams even though you know he'll never love you back??? Having a hardcore goth aesthetic and being so Hot even literal Death Gods are into you?? God forbid women do ANYTHING!

Not only is she the victim of yaoi culture, she is the victim of early 2000s misogyny by an author that wanted to introduce a girl character because he knew his male rivals were getting too homoerotic. She is a goth bimbo icon who portrays what I think is one of the few callouts for stan culture and what parasocial relationships can do to both the stan and the idol. The fact that she is a toxic fan of Kira and also hot, funny, sociable is tragic in its own way, which I think the author did try to touch on but was too misogynistic too really get through. Of course, she was reduced to villain status by the fandom and anime alike because she got in the way of the supposed romance in their psychological horror anime

Here we are, six weeks later...

HEY!

So, in case you haven’t heard, our six week run on Love Unlimited following Gwenpool wrapped up today and...

and as much as I did write all of this and it is extremely important to me, I feel I really need to make sure you all know that this didn’t start with me.

To be completely accurate, it started with Chris Hastings and crew for creating such an amazing and nuanced character out of what could have only ever been a high concept and a cover gag. Not that the cover gag wasn’t good, but the statue that is revealed from that piece of marble over the course of The Unbelievable Gwenpool is truly astonishing.

Then, of course, there’s you. An audience of fans with an incredible love and passion for a character who also saw a lot of the quirks and experiences that we as people on the asexual spectrum experience and talked about it online.

Which is where the incredible @alannawrites, my editor, comes in. Alanna had been looking for an opportunity to tell a story about being ace in Marvel comics. We had kind of skimmed around the edges during Unstoppable Wasp, but ultimately being a character who owed so much to a movie franchise, there were a lot of nerves there. Gwen was not only a great opportunity to tell a story of a person hyper aware that they are in a story struggling with the tropes that affect their actual life, it was a chance to bring about this story for a character a lot of the fandom already saw as ace. Obviously, not everybody, but still a lot.

So when editorial game to okay to tell this story, Alanna reached out to me - somebody she’d worked with but also specifically had just had their own little coming out as demisexual a little while back. I was thrilled by the idea and before long we brought on @bailiesartblog and Kelly and had a full creative team of people on the ace spectrum. This is easily the first time that’s ever been a thought.

For me it was important that it not just be a story of coming out, but that it be a Gwenpool story. A story of knowing how stories work, what tropes you can play with, trying to direct the story where you think it should go, and ultimately finding that the story just won’t comply. And for people who have experienced being on the ace spectrum or a lot of other marginalized genders and sexualities - that’s a very familiar problem.

Ultimately, it’s different from a lot of other Gwenpool stories because it’s not the world around her. She has 2-3 real working possibilities for romantic relationships in this story and one that is about to become a fully adult sexual relationship with a woman whom she really loves before it skips the tracks. Ultimately, it’s not a thing from the 616 that’s holding her back, it’s a thing she brought with her from the real world - her sexuality - and no matter how worthy you are, you can’t beat that with a hammer.

There’ll be lots of time to talk about this later, but along with her actually saying the words and waving the flags above, one of the sequences that’s most important to me is the opening sequence of issue 6

This is the problem sometimes with being story tellers. When you think you know the story, realizing you’re not who you thought you are can feel like maybe you’re a villain. Maybe you’re a monster. Maybe you don’t belong here.

Some people on the internet seem to have decided to misinterpret this sequence as us comparing being asexual to being a monster, when very clearly that’s Gwen doing it. I’m just going to assume they’ve never had the experience of struggling to understand themselves and where they fit. Sounds fake, but whatever.

I love this FF story. I love Ben Grimm. I love this cover and that was why I gave my art team the truly unenviable task of recreating it. Like, I don’t know if you’ve been there, but I certainly have and I’d wager that most of us have at some point.

But perhaps the most important image in this scene is the next one:

Julie sees her friend, her girlfriend, the person that she cares about spiraling and literally yoinks her right out of the frame.

And sits her down and talks to her about it. And listens to her about it. And when she starts asking questions that Julie can’t answer, she finds Gwen somebody who can.

And that is an incredible gift to give to someone. And yeah, maybe we should all do that for each other, but man is it hard. Julie for one is in a multi-month relationship with this girl that just told her that not only was she lying about being ready to have sex with her, but that she didn’t actually like kissing her and has been faking enjoying some aspects of their relationship. You wanna think you would still be there for this person, but that’s a lot to handle and it takes a lot to be the person Julie is in this moment. But, personally, I love Julie Power and I think she’s the kinda person to stick with it.

And ultimately I think this scene is so important to me because I hope this book is our opportunity to be Julie Power to somebody reading this story. I hope someone who is going through a hard time or struggling with how to define themselves will find this story and it can be the hands that pull them out of the cover of Fantastic Four 51 when they need it. Maybe that’s a lot to hope for a comic, but it’s really the ambition I think the team went into this comic with. We want to tell a story about an aroace character coming to terms with who they are and learning to accept and be comfortable with it, but ultimately we hope this story gets to someone out there when they need it and makes the difference.

Well, this has gone really long and I’m sure there will be other things I wanna say about it later, but until then take care of yourselves and hopefully you’ll get the chance to be someone’s Julie Power.

P.S. - Julie, you’re amazing and I’m sure we will find a romance for you that works out eventually. Sorry that we’ve collectively now put you through three breakups.

Twisted Night At The Museum HCs/Thoughts/Concepts:

These are brain farts but ya'll are making me feel like I have the biggest brain so-

- If the Daley! Reader had a Unique Magic it'd be: "Alive for the Night" where basically any statues on display and stuff can come to life. Including the ones of the Great Seven but they can only do it at night. (Idk if you guys want them to have it or not, ya'll can fight about it in the notes)

- The Daley! Reader was also adopted by Larry after Nicky moved out and became a DJ, Larry is still a super protective father whose very anxious and is looking through various museum archives to figure out if something can be done about his child whose stuck in Twisted Wonderland. He requires you to check the mirror and talk to him at least 4 times a day to know you're alright and if you miss a time, YOU BETTER HAVE A GOOD EXCUSE-

- No but parent teacher conferences and you have to hold the mirror so that your teachers can talk to Larry through it.

Larry Daley + His Relationship with the Staff:

- Crowley: No, he's been in this game long enough to know that Crowley isn't trustworthy and while you KNOW he isn't trust worthy, he is the reason that Larry wants you to check in 4 times a day. Crowley tries to paint it like everything is fine and Larry pretends to believe him. Crowley is just a bit off put by Larry because you're already such an odd and resourceful individual, that he can't imagine what your father (the man who raised you) must be like and while he laughs whenever Larry promises to bring you home, Crowley slowly starts to believe him. Like, bro, he deals with a magic tablet and brought a family of old Egyptian pharaohs together, Larry Daley is getting his child back.

- Crewel is the only man in this school that Larry trusts, along with Trein, but Larry does notice that Crewel seems a lot more concerned with your safety and has a soft spot for you. Crewel will also give Larry due respect and while he's not sure about his bland outfit choices, he's very much aware that your father loves and is worried for you and so, Crewel will make sure you are well behaved and taken care off until you're able to reunite. It's bittersweet for him because he does grow to get attatched to you but soon realizes that he's never gonna be your father back home. (SPLIT CUSTODY IS ALL I'M GONNA SAY).

- Vargas: Larry hates him so much. Like in the movies, he's always snarky and closed off from people he dislikes so their conversations are always so passive aggressive. Like, Vargas is all: "Ha, no wonder you look so wimpy! Look at your dad!" and Larry is all: "First of all, they're adopted (but still my kid) so neither of us can really say anything but second of all, I went face to face with a triceratops, so, yeah. Not sure if they have those in your world, but thats pretty impressive." and Vargas just brushes him off and he HATES IT.

- Next is Trein, who is like a strict grandpa to you and one of the other teachers who get along with Larry. As a father himself, he admires Larry trying to protect you as best as he can while he's in a different world, and he couldn't imagine what it would be like if his own children where stranded in a place he couldn't protect them in. So yeah, while your dad is awkward, Trein tries to help him out and ease both his and your anxieties. I also can totally see Dexter the Cappuchin Monkey and Lucius fighting across the mirror.

- Sam is one that Larry doesn't see to often aside from Larry trying to find old spells in old archives that require magical ingredients that he doesn't know about so he'll ask Sam about them or see if he can find any suitable substitutes and Sam will do it of course, for a fee. He really admires your dad's dedication but he also admires the relationship and bond you two have. Yeah, you might come into his shop to rant about how protective he is and some other flaws but you love him dearly. Sometimes he'll throw in a few freebies because at the end of the day, you two just want to be with each other again.

NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT SOME STUDENTS AND HOW I FEEL LIKE INTERACTIONS WITH THEM WOULD GO.

Now back to some general headcanons:

- Okay so have you guys seen the Stuart Little movies? Where he has a bunch of ladders and stuff around the room because he's small and can't get to places faster, thats kinda what you have to do for Jedediah and Octavius. They sleep on your nightstand after Deuce and Jack either made tiny beds for them or you made them in a wood work class or something.

- I can also totally see that after the first winter break, your first year friends bring back some old childhood toys that maybe Jedediah and Octavius can use to help or to help them travel faster around the campus.

- Deuce brought back an old remote controlled Magic Wheel (the motorcycle thing he likes) and gave it to them so not only can they ride around in style but they also have a tendency to drive recklessly and trip over poor unsuspecting students who are just trying to walk to their class. They'll do it especially if they mess with you.

- Ace brings them back like, tiny weapons from his old toy soldiers and stuff and while they might not do much, he just thinks its so funny how serious Octavius is when he's all: "Thank you, Child of Trappola, for I now have an arsenal to defend Fort Ramshackle!" and Jedediah rolling his eyes.

- You try to keep them on higher ground, especially due to the rats but I love the idea that when you're away on classes and you trust them not to do anything stupid, they're riding around on Grim and throwing toy spears at any rats running around and defending their home. Like to them, it's an intense battle where they could possibly die but to the ghosts, it looks like they're just annoying the rats that they eventually just give up and leave because they're so annoying and rambunctious.

- Out of all of your friends, they like to use Jack as a mode of transportation. After all, he's HUGE and when they sit on his shoulders, they're absolutely amazed by how much they can see. Jack tries his best to remember they're on his shoulders but if a class is really boring and he forgets, he'll lean on one shoulder which causes them to lose balance and almost fall but hed got quick reflexes and apologizes to them.

- THE WAY EPEL AND THEM WOULD GET ALONG. Like, Epel will walk in all roughed up because he got into a fight and walk past you to rant to Jedediah and Octavius and talk about how some kids were picking on him for being cute and little and Jed and Oct are all: "YA BETTER HAVE SHOWN 'EM THAT WHAT FOR!" and Epel is all: "COURSE I DID!" and you just sigh because you know that Vil is gonna ask to keep Epel away from your "little raggedy friends".

- BELIEVE IT OR NOT, SEBEK ACTUALLY RESPECTS YOUR LITTLE CREW. Especially after he finds out you want to be a Night Gaurd and mistakes your words and believes that you come from a family of noble gaurdians who keep the ancient relics of your world safe (which is kinda true but its not that dramatic) and when he sees you defend yourself with a mere flashlight, you become his idol.

- IN NIGHT OF THE MUSEUM TWO, THERE'S THIS SCENE THAT FITS PERFECTLY WITH YOU AND SEBEK FIRST MEETING, HERE'S THE LINK BUT GO TO 1:57 BUT THAT'S HOW I IMAGINE YOUR FIRST MEETING WITH SEBEK GOES.

You, whispering as your faces are squished together: "Listen, fae boy, you do not know who you're dealing with. I've seen things in my world, stuff you can't even imagine."

Sebek, whispering back: "Like what kind of stuff?"

You: "I'm not gonna tell you, but you're gonna drop your sword-"

Sebek: "The way you said it just made it sound like you were gonna say something really cool-"

You: "Yeah, you don't get to hear it, drop the sword-"

- OKAY BUT YOU BEING DEEMED THE NIGHT GAURD OF NIGHT RAVEN COLLEGE. Like idk, maybe you don't need as much sleep as everyone or during weekends, you just hibernate and then survive on naps and energy drinks throughout the week (it's such an unhealthy habit, all of the Dorm Leaders are concerned and Vil might trick you into drinking a sleeping potion if your eyebags get too prominent) but I love the idea that the bullying rates go down. Hell, even the Savanahclaw dorm kids don't try to start with as many fights with you around because they know you'll finish them with your flashlight. Like they're all cornering you and you blind one of them temporarily before you do some cool fighting moves. Your quick wit and training as a night gaurd is the only thing you've got to give you an edge in this world and by God are you gonna use it.

-And even if that fails you, you've got friends who've got your back. Like you get cornered by some bullies and then they feel something stab their feet and Jed and Octavius are bravely stabbing their shoes and the students are hopping around in pain.

- But yeah, the Night Gaurd in you just makes you walks around Night Raven College and look at all the various statues and history and you read and do your research on Twisted Wonderland.

- Like in the first movie, the thing Larry did after his first wild night at the museum was do research and by God, do you dedicate yourself to doing research on Twisted Wonderland and the study of magic.

- ALSO MALLEUS JOINING YOU DURING YOUR LATE NIGHT PATROLS OF YOUR SCHOOL GROUNDS and telling you everything there is to know about the magic here. You know how Ahkmenrah calls Larry "Gaurdian of Brooklyn"? I feel like instead of Child of Man, Malleus would call you "Gaurdian of the Night" because you tell him that's your dad's job and you want to fill in his shoes.

- MALLEUS AND SEBEK TRYING TO GET YOU TO JOIN HIS GAURDS BUT YOUR DUTY IS TO EVERYONE BUT HE'S ALL: "You know, just in case you might have to stay for longer, there will always be a spot in my court for you. As either my gaurd or my spouse-"

- "What was that last part?"

- "What?"

*spins the meta wheel* yeah okay, let's talk about Nandor.

One of the things that's always fascinated me most about his character is the way he desperately wants change but also seems to be more terrified of it than all the other characters put together. He talks about wanting things to be different a lot, but he always sabotages anything that might really materially change his life.

Like -- this quest for love. He talks about how much he wants a partner, he wants his life to change, but what do we actually see? In s3 and the beginning of s4, he's just consistently going after women who don't really want him instead of spending time developing the relationships he already has. He dips into shallow relationship after shallow relationship because the real relationships, the ones that might actually change his life, terrify him. The best/worst of these is probably the cult dedicated to literally living in a fantasy version of the past, which like. Not really helping him beat those afraid-of-change allegations.

(You can learn all the 80s and 90s songs you want, Nandor, we both know only Guillermo is exposing you to modern pop culture! And yeah, there's more than one metaphor there...)

And then in s4, he decides he wants a wife, so he chooses one in the most haphazard way possible and makes both of their lives miserable. He is constantly changing her to make her easier for him to deal with without actually changing his life, and then he gets rid of her when he's fed up with the monster that he's created.

His whole thing with the Djinn is that he's constantly asking him to change things -- and then change them back. He wastes so many wishes on things like Marwa. I want this. No, that. No, that. No, put it all back to the way it was originally.

He does this over and over and over, and nothing seems to perturb him more than finding out that things have changed when he wasn't looking. (See: his difficulty accepting that Laszlo is creating relationships with other people, his spiraling over the big bang, etc.)

So... how does this pertain to Guillermo?

Guillermo's frustrated with Nandor at the end of s4 because Nandor likes the status quo. Things are different, are constantly changing, but Nandor refuses to acknowledge any of that. (He even mentions off-hand that he forgets Guillermo is a slayer sometimes.) Guillermo has always worked for them all under the promise of change, so you could see why this would freak him out a little. He's realizing that things will never change with Nandor because Nandor won't let them. He's so scared of change that he just straight-up ignores it and hopes it will go away -- when he's not actively trying to stop it.

Nandor, who has been making and breaking plans with an almost manic frenzy for the entire season, is finally calm at the end of s4. Why? Because he thinks that everything has gone back to normal. Marwa is gone. Freddie is gone. Guillermo is no longer talking about leaving. Those are the important ones for him, but then Colin Robinson also returns and the house is set to rights, too, so like... why should he worry?

He has no idea what he's already lost. That's what's making me crazy. He doesn't know that he's already lost everything that matters to him. But I think he suspects.

The thing is, Nandor throws himself into his books and his self-help and everything else because I think he can tell, at least on a subconscious level, that things have changed. Indelibly. He knows that Guillermo has changed, and that's probably the one kind of change that scares him more than anything else.

But despite the fact that Nandor can tell that something is up, he still keeps insisting that it's no big deal. It must be some small perceived slight or something. It can't be a huge change that Guillermo is keeping from him. No, no, he already figured that out. He managed to reel Guillermo back in with the wedding scheme. He doesn't have to worry about Guillermo straying again.

He's afraid of losing Guillermo to change, so he prevents change and ignores what he can't prevent. He doesn't realize that that's exactly what's driving Guillermo away. That it's already driven Guillermo away. Nandor's put the idea of Guillermo's transformation up on a shelf, nice to look at occasionally but not a thing he really has to interact with. The theoretical option for change is there, but he doesn't have to worry about it actually affecting his life.

As always, he's attracted to it, but it also scares him. He'll make a glitter portrait of a vampiric Guillermo at his side, but he can't seem to fully get his head (and heart) around the reality of giving Guillermo that kind of power and freedom.

He's afraid that giving Guillermo that kind of power/freedom will change their relationship further, when he's finally gotten it the way he (thinks he) likes it, and he's even more afraid that if Guillermo's leash is taken off, he'll run. He spent all of s4 trying to keep Guillermo from running, but he still seems to believe down deep that he'll do it.

And... he wasn't wrong. Guillermo did go elsewhere to get his bite. But Nandor is very much the one who drove him to do it. I think that's the tragic thing, isn't it? He was so afraid of his relationship with Guillermo changing that he forced Guillermo's hand, which caused the exact kind of change that he was most afraid of. Guillermo distancing himself, Guillermo leaving, Guillermo -- well, cuckolding him, really.

I think it's fixable, but Guillermo's not the only person who's going to need to eat dirt here. He may have been the one who "cheated", from the vampires' POV, but Nandor wasn't upholding his end of the deal, either. And he's going to have to acknowledge the way Guillermo has grown and changed throughout the course of the series, stop regressing to calling him his familiar, and apologize for his own inaction. It may not be the vampiric way, but it certainly would not be the first time Nandor has thrown away vampiric customs for Guillermo.

Nandor, friend, you gotta sit back and learn to embrace change. You gotta enter the 21st century. You gotta allow your relationship with Guillermo to grow organically.

Because Guillermo's gonna change one way or another, and it's really your decision whether or not he leaves you behind. :')

✧ growing up, floyd probably hated you with a fiery passion. perhaps he's stubborn and refuses to see you as his new mother because he clings to the memories of his birth mother. no one can replace his real mama. you're just a fake! >:( what does his pops even see in you? as he matures, he grows out of his dislike for you and eventually comes to appreciate your presence in his life. both you and his birth mother are two separate people and he knows that even though you're not his birth mother (and will never be his birth mother) you're still technically his (step)mother. stepmother status doesn't mean much to him; regardless of that, you're still very mama to him. he's always been a mama's boy, so he grows attached. it's a very different attachment with you.

✧ the line between platonic and romantic is very thin for floyd because he's never truly understood the boundary between both. he loves you. isn't that enough? his admiration for you is just puppy love; it probably starts when you'd patch him up after every scuffle he got into or when you'd pick him up after he got in trouble with the other schoolchildren or teachers, chiding him lightly. you'd hold his hands in yours and lecture him softly: "floyd, you know these hands of yours aren't supposed to hurt others. why hit when you can hug instead?" he thinks that's so LAME. >:/ but because you said so, he'll try to be nice just so you won't be upset with him. he'll do anything to make his mama happy.

✧ he fought with jade a lot for your attention. whenever the two of them got into a spat, he'd show up at your bedroom door and sleep between you and his pops. he hates fighting with jade, of course, but then he hates it more when jade's being greedy with your time and affection.

✧ floyd probably surpassed the line of platonic when he was going through puberty and started noticing things about you that he hadn't before. with the physical changes that accompany puberty, the emotional ones come, too. it's a turbulent time for floyd because he has no idea how to navigate any of these weird feelings. while the boys in his class are talking about their crushes, floyd's thinking of you and only you. part of him realizes it's wrong, but he never addresses it. it's just hormones. it'll pass. (it doesn't.)

✧ now that he's much older, set to inherit the family business any day now, all of these memories are looked back on with immense, obsessive fondness. his affection for you doesn't waver with age; if anything it's gotten stronger because now he's old enough to understand what everything means. and he now knows the line between platonic and romantic. he'll probably never think of you platonically ever again. he's too deep into his obsession to view you as you are without the lustful attraction.

✧ you're so soft. so sweet. he's so in love with you and your body and your smell because you always smell like home; and you always cook him delicious meals when he comes to visit. as much as floyd likes the independence and freedom of living on his own in the city, he misses being under the same roof as you. so he visits when he can. when his pops isn't running him ragged with work (floyd thinks he ought to retire sooner; he can handle things on his own) and he's not pursuing fleeting hobbies, he's visiting his parents' place.

✧ most of these visits start and end the same. floyd comes to pester you about marriage. he told you he'd marry you when he was older and you'd laughed it off and told him, "when you're older, you'll find a lovely person to marry. i'm sure of it." but the problem is: you are that lovely person. he doesn't want anyone else. he wants you, and it eats him alive that his pops has you and he doesn't. floyd knows his old man's schedule by heart, so he only ever visits on the days he's out doing business. his pops would have his head if he knew what floyd got up to with you on the weekdays.

✧ it's so not fair. floyd doesn't care what society thinks is right or wrong. the family business is just barely legal. do you really think he'll stop loving you just because the world tells him it's wrong and gross and weird? he's always been painfully honest. he'll spite all of the people who try to tell him it's wrong, especially his pops, by tugging you into a sloppy kiss in front of everyone. that way they'll know you're his and he's yours.

✧ you worry for floyd. he really should meet other people his age, but he's so set on you. you'd feel flattered if he wasn't your stepson, the boy you raised and watched grow into the man he is now. you know he won't listen to you every time you try to combat his delusions with logic. and it's so difficult to get a word in when he's rutting into you from behind, rubbing your flank adoringly and groaning in your ear about how "fuckin' hot you are, mama."

✧ floyd's never been a patient creature, but he is persistent. and you're worn down every time he visits. you're his stepmother; you want him to be happy. but there's some happiness you just can't provide for him. floyd isn't deterred. he'll have his mama one way or another. he loves you too much to give you up.

I want to use this as an opportunity to talk about how this non-traditional relationship came to be - mostly because I love talking about him, but also because I feel queerplatonic relationships need to be talked about more! 

So, what is a queerplatonic relationship? It isn’t really one specific type of relationship with a strictly defined set of rules or boundaries. It is an umbrella term for “non-romantic significant-other relationships”… so, emotionally intimate relationships that fall neither into the category of a “typical romantic relationship” nor into the category of a “typical platonic friendship”. This is not so much about behavior but about the feelings of the people involved. The way one queerplatonic relationship looks like  (activities, language, touch, future planning etc.) can be completely different from the next, it’s all about what works for you! 

The term “queerplatonic relationship” (or qpr) originated in the aromantic community, but you don’t need to be aromantic to be in one. 

I am not aromantic, Alex (name changed for privacy) is. When we met, I didn’t know that yet. We met online. Not on a dating app, we just found each other over shared interests, so romance wasn’t on my mind. We became online friends and found out we actually live close to each other. As time went on, I felt like there was a lot of chemistry and some mutual attempts of awkward flirting, so I decided to ask him on a date. And he said yes! 

We grew closer, my feelings for him grew and quite honestly, in the deep corners of my heart it was already a fact that we would become a couple. We didn’t call each other boyfriend yet but it was only a matter of making it official. Really just a matter of asking… and so it hit me like a brick when I scrolled through social media and saw him coming out as aromantic. 

I’ll admit that I didn’t handle it well. I felt blindsided by him not telling me directly and carried this feeling into our conversation about it which led to it not going well. I should’ve given him time to explain and given us space to figure out together what this means for us. If I did, I would’ve learned that it was a new realization for him as well and that he himself was not sure yet what it meant - but I didn’t. I jumped to assumptions and felt bitter about them. 

After fruitless discussions turned into a fight, we made the hard decision to stop talking. We were both heartbroken about it but it just seemed like a situation with no solution. He didn’t want a traditional romantic relationship, I didn’t want a traditional friendship. We did briefly talk about a queerplatonic relationship but we both couldn’t imagine how that’d work. Would that essentially just be a traditional relationship/friendship by a different name? 

For two weeks, I cried into my ice cream. Kept checking his social media secretly even though we mutually agreed to unfollow each other before the split. Went back on dating apps and went out on a virtual date with the first poor guy who said yes and hated every second of it. Texted Alex about it in some shitty attempt to make him jealous. Cried some more. Until I found a list in my notes that I had made months earlier, with all the things I like about him. 

This list made me think I can’t lose him like this - I’d rather have him as a friend than not have him in my life at all. I sent him the list and was relieved to learn that he missed me just as much. After some (much more mature) discussion, we agreed to just be platonic friends. 

One of the first “normal ” conversations we had after our split - normal meaning a topic that wasn’t related to attraction or identity or relationship status - was just us talking about a tv show he used to watch as a kid. This has become a fond memory of a realization that is hard to put in words: I’ve always been someone who wants clear definitions and labels. But there’s beauty in things being undefined as well. In that moment, we weren’t a specific label. We were just us. And us, our unique dynamic, is what I fell in love with - regardless of how we name it. 

So, we named it friends and that worked great. But one thing kept bothering me: With a friend, even a best friend, it’d be silently assumed that you may pursue other people romantically. You can have a best friend and a boyfriend, you’re not taken by your best friend. This wasn’t a matter of jealousy - Alex wasn’t interested in pursuing other people romantically anyway and I don’t mind that he has other close friends. This was about me, not him. I didn’t want this to be a situation where I’m assumed to potentially pursue others. I want to be taken because that’s how I feel. I’m not open to dating someone else, Alex is my significant other even when it’s not a traditional romantic relationship. 

I reached out to other aromantic people online and talked to them about these feelings. They encouraged me to talk to him about this and suggest an individually defined relationship to him - one that isn’t based in romance but has the level of commitment I feel. Communication is key, they said, you two can set your own rules. 

And that’s exactly what we did! I wrote him a letter and put these feelings to paper, and asked him if he wants to have an individually defined relationship with me, be my friend I’m in love with and am committed to, and he said yes! 

(We don’t usually use the term queerplatonic in our everyday conversations, I just use it as a practical umbrella term here - we like to keep it a undefined unique relationship status)

Being friends with the “Chosen One” wasn’t easy. And even harder than that? Having feelings for him. You and Harry had been friends since first year, after you left your impression on him by making fun of his hair. You were unaware of his celebrity status at the time. However, you like to think that even if you did know, you still would’ve made fun of him.

Six years of being friends with the boy had led to a lot of sleepless nights for many reasons: assisting him in his fight, helping each other with homework, late night therapy in front of the fire, and so much more. More than anything, though, was you laying awake late at night, alone in your bed, wondering how the hell you had managed to fall for the most unavailable boy on the planet. 

See, while he quite literally had all kinds of people lining up for a chance with him, he responded the same to each of them: “Sorry, I don’t have time for a relationship right now.”

It made you so upset with yourself, knowing that that was the case, yet you were unable to suppress your feelings. It drove you crazy.

A rainy night in the middle of your 6th year, Harry was in Dumbledore’s office for a reason unbeknownst to you. You and Hermione sat curled up on the couch, her listening as you talked about the boy. 

“I feel so silly, ‘Mione,” you spoke. “ I don’t have a chance with him at all, yet I can’t get these feelings out of my head. I feel… pathetic, almost. It just drives me crazy. He’s so… charming. And his confidence and attitude are just so infectious. He makes me want to wake up in the morning. I see myself having a future with him. But, I mean, if he doesn’t have time for a relationship with all the other lovely people that ask him, then why would Harry have feelings for me?”

What you didn’t realize, however, was that Harry had heard your confession. Silently shutting the portrait hole door before he had even walked in, he went to go find Ron. Harry had a plan.

It was about a week later when you and Hermione had come down for breakfast, only to see Harry and Ron in deep, hushed conversation. You couldn’t hear what either of them were saying, save for a few whispers of a ‘confession’. You figured it had to do with one of Harry’s newest ‘missions’ for Dumbledore. If you had to know, he’d tell you. 

Neither of them noticed your presence until you spoke. “Morning, boys! You’re not usually up this early. Anything important going on?” 

Ron’s face began to turn red, Harry shifting in his seat. 

“Er- hello, y/n!” Harry said. 

“Bloody hell…” Ron mumbled under his breath. The dark haired boy was absolutely hopeless. 

You didn’t really suspect anything, seeing as Harry was always quite socially awkward, despite being confident. It was part of his charm. 

You didn’t start questioning anything until about 30 minutes later, after Harry had been staring off into space for about 20 minutes… in your general direction.

“What? Is there something on my face?” you asked him, snapping him out of his reverie. 

“Your face- er, no. Will you come to the common room with me? I think I forgot- erm- something. For class.” 

You raised an eyebrow at him. “But Harry, we have a free period first- oh!” 

Before you could even question his discrepancy, the boy had gently grabbed your wrist and was pulling you towards the exit. Concerned, you turned around to shoot a look at Ron and Hermione. Both of them had the most evil smirks on their faces. Merlin… you were fucked.

Harry stayed silent on the walk (well, you were being dragged) to his dorm. He refused to answer any of your questions. His face grew redder by the minute. Finally, you were sat on his bed, watching him pace across his dorm, nervously wringing his hands. 

“Harry!” you called out, stopping him in his tracks. “I”m worried! What’s going on?”

“I had this whole big plan for how I was going to go about this. I was going to use my bottle of Felix and then we were going to have picnic with all your favorites by the lake and then when we were talking I was going to-”

“Harry, spit it out!”

“Will you go out with me?”

“...what?”

The six words that came out of his mouth made you feel like time had stopped. Never in all your years of living did you think something like this would happen. 

“Harry, this is a sick joke. I know you like a good prank here and there, but this is too far. I can’t believe-”

“It’s not a prank, y/n. It’s not a prank.” Defeated, Harry sat on the bed opposite of you. “I heard you talking to Hermione that night last week, so Ron and I came up with this elaborate plan for me to ask you out. I had a speech prepared and everything. I was about ready to piss my pants at the table.” he breathed out, flustered. 

“Yeah… you sure looked like it,” you started, receiving a snarky look from the boy. “But, if you wanted to ask me out, then why’d you tell everyone else that you didn’t have time for a relationship?” 

“I didn’t want to risk a relationship with someone else, because the only person I wanted to be with was you. I’ve liked you for so long, y/n. You don’t even know.”

You blinked at him, completely shocked. “Harry, with all due respect, I think I do know. I’ve liked you for years.” 

He looked up at you. “Can I kiss you?” 

“...yeah.” 

And a soft whisper of “brilliant!” was the last thing you heard before you saw stars beneath your eyelids. His lips met yours, the two of you connecting in a way that could only be described as… magic. He tasted like chocolate, pumpkin, and spice, and by god, was it addicting. From the one kiss, you couldn’t get enough.

Finally, after a blissful time, the two of you broke apart, breathing heavily. Your forehead met his. 

“So,” he started, a cocky smirk on his face. “You see yourself having a future with me, huh?”

You smacked him lightly on the shoulder. “Slow down, Chosen One. I can still say no.”

You grinned at him. You knew for a fact you wouldn’t be saying no anytime soon. This was the right life for you.

I realized that Charlastor has parallels with not only Lucilith, but also Stolitz.

In the case of Lucilith, Charlie is a (half) angelic being with big dreams who was not accepted by her people and Alastor is a human-turned-demon who broadcasted his powers through Hell to Garner respect and fear from the other demons.

While with Stolitz, Charlie has trouble managing her project and getting it to succeed and Alastor is this shady benefactor who has the power and means to help her in her endeavors for a price.

Not only that, all three of these ships are involved in going against the status quo or natural order of things by associating with someone lower than their station (Lucifer was an archangel/Lilith was a human, Stolas was an Ars Goetia/Blitzø was an imp and Charlie was a hellborn princess/Alastor was a sinner overlord) and are going through huge issues in regards to their relationships that they need to overcome (Lucifer and Lilith split, Stolas plans to break things up with Blitzø and Charlie is involved in untrustworthy deal with Alastor that may lead to betrayal).

Despite the fact Charlie and Alastor are never going to be canon, it is an amazing coincidence that they share parallels with two canon ships. Charlastor continues to surprise me with the amount of layers it has, it saddens me that so many dismiss their immense chemistry and despise us for loving such a beautiful ship.

I also like the idea that Link, Zelda, Mipha, and Urbosa used to have a cube, likely of a different make-up. Big fan of cubes. Also while I don't see Zelda and Sidon being a thing, I could def see Yona and Link being a thing. What kind of thing? *shrugs and gestures vaguely*

Do we want my hcs on their relationships? I already put a read more so it's not like it's hurting anybody... Alright! You've convinced me.

Zelink: By qpr in this case specifically it's like, besties who hold hands, sleep in the same bed, go on dates (usually revolving around one of their special interests, but sometimes just a picnic or trip), and probably kiss sometimes. Hyrule is super excited about their hero and princess being in a relationship, Hyrule doesn't need to know the details. They do have separation anxiety though, especially on Link's end bc Zelda seems to disappear every time they get separated but they're all very understanding about this. Probably could have marked their line as state recognized qpr bc they probably get married for political reasons.

Sidlink: They freak it nasty style but are also big cuddlers and acts of service and quality time type of people. Muzu is the only one outside the cube to clock them for a while and he's a little mad about it, but Yona and Zelda step in to gaslight him so hard so he feels like he can't say anything.

Zelyona: a product of hanging out with sidlink (bc sidlink already knew each other) and realizing 'oh that person is super chill and very nice and also pretty??? Like really pretty??? By the goddess this can't be happening...' but in general an easy relationship, an easy love. They also probably freak it nasty style. I think they do less of the romance stuff (I hc Zelda as aromantic so...)

Sidona: Childhood friends married for political convenience but they were never against it. Like 'omg I get to marry my bestie for the good of the Domain? Pog.' Another easy relationship but whereas I think zelyona would fall, sidona just kind of naturally slipped into love and was content with that.

Yoink (ik that's not their name but I like it): They both just want their partners to be happy and bond well over that. I think they do casual affection in a platonic way but are not against threesomes or foursomes. I guess I could have put them as qpr bbs.

Sidon&Zelda (idk if they even have a name, pls lmk): They are the most platonic out of the group and it takes them a little longer to get comfortable with each other (not that they were UNcomfortable, just that they didn't know each other as well and mostly they were making time for each other to hang out with their partners so they didn't see each other as much until they started going on group dates). Sidon gives Zelda access to historical records and texts and Zelda teaches Sidon about technology that Purah makes. They enjoy making fun of Link together, and on occasion Yona, but let's be honest, Link is nearly feral so there's a lot more to make fun of.

Politics:

Sidon and Yona have to go to all of the political stuff together they way link and zelda do but it's really funny when both pairs are at the same political thing and every other political figure is like side eyeing their group trying to figure out if cheating is happening or what bc why is Sir Link in Prince Sidon's lap and why is Queen Zelda slow dancing with Lady Yona but the four of them just gaslight everyone. The people who know them know, but anyone who's not close just has to sit there guessing. It's kind of an open secret in their circles, and wouldn't be a problem in general if it weren't for the fact that one of them is a king and another a queen so neither of them or their official partners can technically be consorts of each other or in general really.

Sidon can still talk to Link the way he always has bc he's always been a little homoerotic about it (and they literally put up a statue of Link riding Sidon in town square so I think maybe Zora are just LIKE THAT TM) so they all just mimic how he speaks and blame it on the Zora-Hylian cultural exchange. Pretty much everyone in the Rito village knows, though. Tulin might have let it slip, but they super don't care so it's not a problem.

PICK A CARD - WHAT’S GETTING READY TO CHANGE AND WHY

Literally all the piles had a heavy theme of setting strong boundaries. I might end up doing a collective reading because now that I finished this I’m getting a lot of you are going through the same things or a certain theme playing out. This lets me know a lot of these situations is karmic and clearing out of past energies or “residue”. This could even be due to the retrogrades going on at this time.

PILE ONE

It’s so funny how the first two cards are “Transformation” and “Endings and Rebirth”. This is a huge change… like moving homes or cities. This is being surrounded by a completely new group of people pile one… and you know what they say, you are who you spend time with. For some of you i got a message of you guys being in a toxic or abusive relationship and your low self esteem is letting you accept benevolent behavior. Some of you could be in denial or feel like you have nobody outside this person, maybe it’s the long history that makes you feel like you can’t let go. I’m getting you need to mend your relationship with your own self & spirit family or guides… and will. For a couple of you i’m getting pregnancy, if that’s something you were trying for them congratulations pile one! Another extreme change is how you will manage your time and balancing between multiple things. The reason i say this is extreme because overtime the little steps will make you realize that your whole life & circumstance changed before your eyes. I don’t know why i feel the need to say it but there’s a energy of your life taking a physical transformation but if you refuse to let go of the past (mainly picking up on people and bad habits), you will prosper only physically. Your self fulfillment will come from a lot of reflection and action. What’s going to help you let go of your past and toxic relationships is you’re gonna feel a new sense of responsibility and taking life more seriously. I see you feeling a lot better soon as you do thought pile one, you will feel more free and there’s a heavy weight lifted off your change. For some of you, the other person or a situation might be leaving your life so you will feel abandoned at first. Lots of mood swings but i see you taking pride in your work. Some type of truth might be coming out that will cause something to finally come to a end but i feel like right when this happens you will have come across a opportunity or started something that will occupy the majority of your time and thought. Despite possibly feeling hurt i don’t want you to stress or worry about this. You will feel you have somewhere to go if that makes sense, you won’t be left alone. My pet just came in the room as i said that… some of you might be getting a new pet! A lot of you could also start working out and if you have insomnia you will find it helps you sleep better. You could even be watching your diet and this will cause your body to transform physically, i’m seeing a confidence boost so that’s a plus! I asked for advice for you to deal with this change and if you need to go into hermit mode and force yourself to do shadow work, do that. No more running from yourself and it’s going to bring a happy change. Self care energy is heavy! Prioritize your peace and responsibilities.

PILE TWO

Okay my collective in this group could be on two opposite sides of the same coin. Some of you are influencers, models, or have some type of following. The first half is getting ready to go into “hiding” and being more private. The other half after going to start showcasing themselves more and putting yourself out there. On both ends i’m getting working on your boundaries and learning to say no. No more overextending yourself. Also side note: a lot of you will be getting heavily into skincare and grooming. It will pay off! You will attract something into your life that will change the course of your career mainly & public persona or status. This is my fiery pile most likely. For some of you this could be buying a home with your family or somebody you consider family. This is spending a lot of time with loved ones and possibly working towards the same goals. There could be a risk involved with whatever you’re taking on next but you will decide choosing this path is worth it. Okay back to the two collectives, if you’re pushing yourself into isolation because you’re letting divination or the news and media i’m hearing ?? get you paranoid then please cut that out. You’re only holding back on your own potential and i’m getting your intuition is very strong so don’t let fear mongering get to you. For others of you you’re trying to protect yourself and a partner or project. Maybe all three. If you have a lot of eyes on you this could have made you wanna go private, for some of you this could also be on social media. Just make sure you’re doing what you’re doing for the right reasons regardless of the side you’re own. You got boundaries as change and when i clarified the “why”… i got boundaries again. This pile could be working with their sacral chakra a lot and you just feel above certain things now. You might’ve outgrew certain environments and activities and want to pour more into pursuing your own passions. Be careful not to be tooooo sharp tongued but do stand up for yourself how you intend. Your skills will be valued or whatever you got to create. You’re manifesting quickly my pile two and the change for you will be having the resources to take on the next project and so on. “Never running out”. If you guys got some type of altar or are connected to your ancestors then just know they’re going extra hard for you behind the scenes. Another change is you or somebody from your past will reach out to each other. I see reconciliation or at least being civil and it goes over nicely. You both might’ve matured a lot in the time spent apart. This could even be on social media or through text. This person is a past life soulmate for a lot of you, doesn’t matter the relationship type. Why is this change happening and your life changing? Because you left a mark on a lot of people. Some of you are very kind and understanding. You could make others feel understood. You could have some messages for yourself in pile one (although this pile energy is was more confident and self assured) because you also got the message of prioritizing your own peace. You guys could dance a lot or even take dancing classes. I think this is spiritually helping you transmute energy in some type of what, maybe your past pain spills away when you dance. This could be your healthy escape per say. You value honesty and this will also lead you around a healthier crowd.

PILE THREE

I’m getting fame! Or you could be in the spotlight for a long time. You’re either bringing justice to a situation that happened and speaking out or people will be attracted to what you have to say. Some people will look at you like a authoritative figure. Even if it starts off based on either your looks or music I’m hearing, you will draw people in with your mouthpiece. Your family life or home is also going to be a place you like spending a lot of time if that’s not the case. This is because somebody gives you a gift wether physically or mentally (new family member?). This person could be a mentor figure or somebody older than you, perhaps a partner. For some of you, you’re moving in with a spouse or partner. You will be torn between two opportunities presented to you by a fire sign man, or he will try to get in the way of these opportunities. It’s the start of something new but I don’t know if I would go for it, it’s not a extraordinary offer. There could be a male figure that’s more on the aggressive side leaving you confused. It’s important you make big decisions by consoling yourself last and coming to the finale choice. Don’t let anybody else make it for you because I’m seeing this change can very well be you left confused when it comes to making money. Especially if this is somebody that never helped till they seen something go good for you, they might unintentionally sabotage it. Selfish intentions. Also if you’re around a lot of people or receiving a lot of attention, up your boundaries. For some of you this is somebody new that comes in full force and tries to have a say on what you do. They could disguise themselves as somebody of importance, might really have that power too but I’m getting “check their history” out. You’re not naive, you got it, pile three. Something you read or a piece of information you receive will cause you to put your mind at ease. Some of you could be holding on to something that’s hurt you for a long time or some type of conflict. This information you’re getting ready to receive or see is going to do a complete 360 for you, maybe you’re forgiving somebody. Some of you might be a bit ruthless and you could see somebody who did you wrong life is in shambles. This might make you happy and let go of the situation. For others of you this is information that changes how you see yourself and the world. Beautiful change regardless of some of you being on the darker side of said change lol! This is my pile that’s not so forgiving or holds onto resentment. It’s giving water sign energy. If you recently did a protection ritual, that shit is workinggggg! Either a protection or road block opener spell that’s going to remove anything that was holding you back. Maybe this is how some of you end up taking off as far as fame, people can really pick up on your energy. You will have a certain glow to you that wasn’t there before, maybe it’s in the way you smile or your facial expressions. Your internal showing, you guys know the expression wearing your heart on your sleeves? I’m getting some of you will be wearing your energy on your face. The more confident you get, the more your power is increasing. You’ll be more grounded in time to come and therefore it will be easy for you to maneuver through situations that could’ve left you uneasy or anxious in the past. The change is you’re not overthinking as much and acting more. Those of you that are going through a rebirth, this is because you’ve emotionally matured. Side note: I’m hearing “I wanna take it! I don’t know what you’re doing differently but the change is the way people perceive you. I’m getting you will be more respected by your community and people in close proximity. If some of you are entertainers or service providers of some sort, your work will be a lot more respected. Your reading just got kinda crazy pile four. You’ll be a lot more sharped tongued and on guard. Some people might walk on eggshells around you because they know you will pop off if you hear the wrong thing. But I’m getting all this happens because you went throught or going to find out that a bunch of people you though you could trust or be indifferent towards could’ve been talking behind your back or being sneaky. For some of you this could literally be somebody stealing from you… money, clothes, ideas, material. I’m not gonna lie at first you might feel your heart just dropped to your stomach but this is going to make you mentally stronger and more on guard. There is sooo much air energy here which is crazy because I was gonna say this is my overthinkers. You could be replaying people mean words or betrayal over and over in your head, for some of you this could leave you feeling mentally stuck and bound but know you are not pile four. I’m getting being in isolation is not going to do you well, go out even if it’s alone. Go in nature, do activities, do self care. Remember the bad bitch that you are. You’ll be stepping into your masculine energy, some of you I’m heard are literally playing chess. It’s giving ice queen. If people know that you found out about something I’m getting a scenario of going to a job for example the next day or the same party place and people just seeing you and going quiet. They don’t want any problems lol! Your demeanor changes, you’re being more bold. If you played nice with this group or person at first you will remind them of who you really are, some of them literally feel like they’re dealing with a different person than the one they met. But I’m also getting your ideas are very rampant at this time, keep them to yourself and write them down! People want the knowledge and ideas you possess for themselves. This pile could already have something to prove they’re successful or can get shit done so this leaves people wanting to do the same. I’m getting you’re gonna be very happy while you’re icing people out. Like “okay, I let this go on too long” and having a blasting reminding people what is and isn’t acceptable. You might make certain people feel like cowards because the mess they were spewing they won’t be able to say to your face. I’m just getting don’t take this out on everybody pile four, “keep your allies”. A little situation that happens can’t take you off your path or change your destiny, it can only keep you mentally bound and steal time you could be using to fulfill your destiny. On a good note, I feel like you are going towards your life purpose! You’re just going to clear out karmic cycles on the way. Despite all this you’ll be in a state of bliss almost, some of you literally have a secret weapon. What do I mean? When situations like this occur, there’s somewhere you go physically or in your mind that literally “powers you up” is what I’m hearing. This could be anything and will be different for all of you - a memory, a person, a skill… you are more cunning and calculated than some people realize. A lot of people might be fooled by your looks and underestimate you. You guys also got similar cards to pile three, if you feel called to check that pile out do so. For some of you there is a friendship or partner coming your way that keeps you feeling strong and on your A game, you guys could be going through similar situations. I’m sorry if this pile feels more “negative” per say but I’m getting a lot of this change is mental and about how you navigate whatever the world throws at you (nothing you can’t handle). I asked for a positive change cards for you guys and wow! If some of you been struggling, homeless, or just living in poverty. You’re literally going to the queen of pentacles!

If the situation I was speaking on earlier is a job situation, the reason so many people are gossiping about you is because you could be making the most money or out hustling everybody. Keep going pile four, it will all be worth it. I’m hearing by end of the year you’ll be living a lifestyle you always wanted. If you hold back from snapping on people I’m getting you’ll be happy with this decision because you know they’ll be watching you live your best life with no acknowledgement from you.

Yea, I’m convinced that the Miraculous season finale was unsatisfying on purpose.

The “happy ending” scene at the end had this surrealist lighting and slightly off-putting music in the background. It gives off major false utopia vibes. It actually makes me feel relieved, because there were two things I was worried about for this finale but the way they wrote it resolves those issues a bit.

First, I was worried that they were going to try to wrap up everything perfectly within the span of this two episode special. There was no way they were going to be able to give all the different plot points and character arcs the closure they needed within that time frame. by leaving us with an open ending, It gives itself room to properly develop and deal with the fallout from this mess slowly over time.

And then, arguably the bigger issue, was Miraculous’ future after season 5. I kept thinking to myself, what are they going to have to do to keep Miraculous interesting after this? Sure we’ve got Lila, or Cerise, or whatever her name is, but everything we’ve been following this series for since the beginning was about to be resolved. Monarch gone. The Agreste arc over. Adrienette canon. What is Miraculous’ sense of identity after this? Do they hit the reset button and retell the story Disney sequel style? Do they force a breakup between Adrienette to keep the romance plot alive? What’s the point of this still VERY fresh reveal of senti-Adrien if Gabriel and his influence is nothing but a distant memory?

But because of the way things went down, none of those things we thought would be resolved actually are. Monarch fucking won. He got what he wanted, and now everyone is living in a world of his image. He’s remembered as a goddamn hero, which is fucking infuriating! And Adrien doesn’t know! Doesn’t know that his dad was a supervillain and terrorist, doesn’t know that he’s a sentimonster, doesn’t fully accept that he’s been abused. And Marinette is keeping all that from him! Probably because she doesn’t want to inflict unnecessary pain on him, but when he finds out he’s going to be an absolute MESS.

Which means the Agreste plot, the family drama, the relationship antics that we’ve been following for all these years will continue as a throughline in the show. It means that there are natural reasons to continue existing conflicts and keep the show running without it feeling contrived. Because none of this is ok, and it’s going to take a lot of time to resolve. A lot of pain, a lot of drama, and a lot of conflict. I wouldn’t be surprised if Adrien and Marinette have major relationship problems over the secrets that she’s keeping from him. The Ladynoir angst from season 4 is back at full force. And you KNOW Cerise is going to zero in on that shit like a moth to a flame. Before this I was fearing a ultra-contrived break up to keep the audience invested in their story, but now I would be totally satisfied with a temporary break up as Marinette’s secrets become too much to keep hidden.

So yea, I was angry at the season 5 finale. The Gabriel statue made me gag. And I REALLY wanted to see Adrien stick it to his father. But then again, he did in his own way. He pulled one over his father by tricking him into muting his mics, which gave him a chance to strategize with Plagg. He’s the one who decided to play the long game and wait patiently while Plagg found a new holder to defeat Monarch with -- as opposed to rushing in with brute force, which shows significant character growth for him, by the way. I’m proud of him. And I can’t wait to see where his arc goes from here as he continues to explore his own agency and his relationships with people around him.

As for Marinette, I was very satisfied with her face-off against Monarch/Gabriel. The moment he realized his archnemesis was her was priceless. And that piano? God. That was glorious. She was a total badass. And she demonstrated her growth, too. She acted with a lot more maturity than we’ve seen at other points in her story by putting aside her personal vendetta towards Gabriel and Monarch to focus on creating a peaceful solution -- even if it did come back to bite her in the ass hard.

So the manipulator won. Fitting, because I feel kind of manipulated too. I would’ve never guessed in a million years that Gabriel would actually be able to make his wish in the permanent timeline, or that Miraculous would go down such an unsettling and unsatisfying route (at least in the short term). I’ve gotta respect them for that. All these years we thought we knew how this conflict was going to resolve -- all those dramatic reveals in the Agreste basement, the final battle between Adrien and his piece of shit dad, Adrien breaking out of his control in one decisive and cathartic swoop. Instead, we got something much more sinister, something much more insidious. Whatever is lurking around the corner is bound to have MAJOR repercussions going forward.

So I’m content to wait and see what happens next. There’s no point in complaining about how a story went when it isn’t even resolved yet. Was it perfect? Nope. Will it be done perfectly in the future? Also no. And that’s ok. Because it never will be perfect, and what we saw here made sense. It was impactful. It creates new opportunities for the characters and their story arcs that didn’t exist before this finale. We are in a new era of Miraculous, and I will be waiting on the edge of my seat to find out what the hell this beautifully unpredictable series is going to evolve into next.
