PS thank god for u and ur big juicy brain I love all ur uk bros content SO much
I have far too many headcanons about little Peter and his strange father and uncles ;u;
I hope this little ficlet pleases you, Anon!
Characters: Sealand, Scotland
------
‘What on earth do you think you’re doing?’
By the light of a phone torch, Scotland saw Sealand start violently at the bottom of the stairs and press his fist to his chest in a vaguely England-like gesture.
‘You scared the shit out of me!’ He hissed in a stage whisper.
The boy was wearing long, light blue pyjamas; tatty, well-worn child sized things that England had kept about the house for the last thirty years in case of emergency. Whether emergency new child, or child emergency Scotland didn’t want to give thought to. Sealand been staying in England’s London house with him for a while, from what Scotland could guess, and he’d heard no whisper of him going back to his fort any time soon. Maybe longer too than England had planned for.
From his spot on the sofa, Scotland sat up enough to throw a cushion at him. It hit Sealand gently on the head and the boy glared at him, ‘What was that for?’
‘Asked you a question.’
‘I came down for a drink.’
‘Tap not good enough for you in the bathroom upstairs? And turn that bloody torch off.’
Sealand did so. ‘I wanted milk.’
‘Christ.’ Scotland flopped back down onto the sofa and crossed his arms under his head, ‘You’re spoilt, you are.’
Sealand said nothing. He stood there for unmoving for a while, as if waiting to be told off or shoo’d back to bed. When this didn’t come, after a moment Scotland heard him approach the sofa and then he appeared above him, arms crossed on the backrest and face dark in the dim light, ‘What are you doing down here.’
In reply, Scotland pointed to the ceiling. Sealand followed to where he was pointing and they both waited in silence until a large, rumbling snore made itself known through the floorboards.
‘Ah.’
‘Can’t shut him up.’
‘I thought you were in my room?’
‘I can hear him through the walls. Quieter down here.’
Sealand looked thoughtful, ‘You should have gone to bed before him.’
‘Wouldn’t have mattered. He’s had whiskey; that always makes him louder.’
‘Dad’s got special headphones you could have stolen. He uses them for when he and Uncle Rhys go camping.’
‘Do I look like I want more bullshit this weekend?’ Scotland huffed and pulled the blanket he was under higher up to his chin, ‘Bad enough with him griping about his fucking shed.’
‘The one you broke the roof of?’
‘It was rotten. I stepped on- you know what? I’m not having this argument at-‘ Scotland checked his phone, squinting at the screen in the dim light, ‘two o’clock in the morning. Now piss off and let me sleep.’
Sealand’s head disappeared. Scotland flipped over on his side, hiding his eyes under his hand as the kitchen light flicked on.
After a few minutes of rummaging and the sounds of cupboards opening and closing, the light turned back off and Scotland heard Sealand return to the living room.
‘Got you a digestive, if you want it.’
‘Nah ta. All yours.’
Sealand immediately took a huge bite. Scotland got the impression that the offer hadn’t been entirely genuine.
‘Are you going to be working on the car again tomorrow?’
‘Hmm.’
‘Can I help?’
‘No.’
‘Why?’
‘Christ Peter, ‘Scotland dropped his hand, ‘what do you want, lad?’
‘Nothing.’ The glass in Sealand’s hand reflected the streetlight through the curtain as he moved, ‘Just asked a question.’
A silence fell. There was something Sealand wasn’t saying, an all too familiar unspoken request that Scotland had encountered many times throughout the years.
He sighed and sat up, twisting to turn on the side table lamp as he did so. The light revealed Sealand by the coffee table, small looking in his baggy pyjama shirt. His hair was ruffled, tousled from a restless and uneasy sleep and he turned his face away when Scotland looked at him to toe at the rug. He reminded Scotland of someone very similar over a millennia ago, someone too stubborn to say what he really wanted but desperately wanting it anyway.
‘What.’ Sealand said defensively, meeting Scotland’s eye.
‘Can’t sleep?’
Sealand shrugged but stayed quiet.
‘If Arthur’s on your side of the bed, just kick him.’
Sealand conceded to a small smile but didn’t offer anything else.
Scotland swung his legs to the floor and reached for the remote on the coffee table, ‘What was that shit show you keep going on at me to watch?’
‘Ultimate Survivor?’
‘That’s the one.’ Scotland clicked the TV on and turned the volume down low, ‘Might as well get it over with if we’ve got nothing better to do. I’m not going to be able to sleep whilst Rhys is like that.’
‘Really?’ Sealand brightened.
‘Aye. And I’ll prove to you it’s all bullshit.’
‘It’s really not.’ Sealand joined him on the sofa and buried his legs under Scotland’s blanket, ‘They’ve got all these specialists-‘
‘Bullshit.’
‘It’s not!’
‘Nah, I mean what advice they give. Half is too pretentious and the other half’s all bollocks.’ Scotland settled back against the sofa and slung his arm over the back, ‘Like that Bear Grylls idiot- drinking your own piss. What an eejit.’
‘If you’re ever stranded without water-‘
Scotland made a face, ‘He wouldn’t know how to make a good fire if he was next to a burning house. Now shut up and let me focus.’
Sealand scooted closer and drew his knees up, ‘Bet you one of them will give up before ten minutes in.’
‘I reckon five. English pansies.’
‘Winner gets a tenner?’
‘Deal.’

I wrote porn. Wanna read it? It's under the cut too.
Baker st cum at once
John looked down at his phone. The words were so familiar, yet so different. He stared at them. Sherlock hardly ever abbreviated, made typos or sent a text unsigned. Had someone else gotten his phone? No, that can’t be right. No one can guess Sherlock’s password and his phone was always within arms reach. John was at work, waiting for his next patient to show up. Another text came through.
If inconvenient cum all the same like me
Now that was definitely weird. A mother and child entered and John tucked his phone away and plastered his friendly GP smile across his face. Just as the child coughed in John’s face, he felt his phone vibrate again. The kid had a cold. A very mild fever. He assured the mother that there was nothing he could do for a cold and that the kid should just stay at home in bed. They’d be fine in a few days.
It had taken a bit to get them to finally leave, but as soon as they did, John’s phone was in his hand.
Dangerous. Amazing. Hurry.
That settled it. John called in Sarah and let her know that Sherlock had done something stupid and dangerous and was quite possibly high.
John could tell she wanted to tell him to ignore it, but she knew about Sherlock. She knew how reckless he could be. She also knew that he was a recovering addict. She could hardly keep him under the circumstances.
He raced home to find Mrs Hudson leaving. She greeted him happily as she always did. “Sherlock?” John was panting but he hoped she understood what he had wanted to know.
“Oh he’s upstairs, love. The absolute cheek of him. He told me to get out of my own house! I couldn’t believe it. I told him I’d have his head if he messed with my house,” she tutted and stepped out of the doorway. She carried on speaking as she started rooting in her bag for her car keys, “He said not to worry and that with any luck you’d have his head. I’ve no idea what that boy is saying sometimes.”
She started walking away and John stood looking at her departing form for a few seconds before shaking himself and running indoors.
As he ran he started calling out for Sherlock. Hoping and praying that he was okay. “Jawn,” It was Sherlock. The sound came from the direction of Sherlock’s bedroom. He was moaning. Oh god, he really is high.
He ran through the flat and threw open Sherlock’s door. Mentally, he had prepared himself for the worst on the way over. He hadn't, however, prepared himself for what he actually saw.
Sherlock was sprawled across his bed wearing only a pyjama shirt. It was pulled up under his chin. John looked at it and realised that it was actually one of his shirts. Hmm, curious, when did he take that? John shook himself because that was definitely not what he should have been fixating on. Sherlock’s skin was flushed and covered in sweat.
His cock was between his long fingers. He pulled his foreskin back, showing John everything. He couldn’t breathe. Sherlock was just there. He could take him if he wanted. There was lube on the bed beside him. It would be so easy to just pounce and make Sherlock scream. He had to be rational.
How the hell could he be rational when all his blood was rushing south?
Suddenly, everything started to make sense. Well, kinda. Sherlock had been making innuendos. The only question that remained was, why? Surely, if Sherlock wanted to get off, he would just do it. Why on earth would he make sure John knew? Why would John need to know that Sherlock was horny? He surely would've been horny before and he never texted John about it.
“Are you just going to watch, or are you going to join me?” Sherlock was panting. His hand worked slowly over his cock.
John started removing his clothes. Throwing them wherever they landed and keeping his eyes fixed on Sherlock. “Wha-?” There wasn’t enough blood left in his head to finish the thought.
He stepped closer to the bed. Only his pants were left on. He knew they wouldn’t stay on for long, not with Sherlock like that and with how much his cock was pushing against the fabric. “I want you to spend the day destroying me,” He groaned and bucked his hips before blowing a heavy breath through his nose to calm down. “I want you to - ugh- I want you to fuck me so hard we break the bed. I want to shout your name - ah- so loud that they hear it next door. I want - hmm- I want - oh god- I need-”
That was all John needed.
He climbed onto the bed and kissed Sherlock. It was deep, hungry and messy. Sherlock was giving back as good as he was getting. He had dreamt of this. He had so many fantasies he didn’t know what one to enact first. “Sherlock,” he groaned at the loss of contact and John swung his leg over Sherlock’s hip. “I will fuck you. Then, you will fuck me if that’s okay,” Sherlock nodded jerkily. His hands had come to rest on John’s hips. “You! You will not be leaving this bed for the rest of the day. I am going to have you screaming so much you can’t talk for days. Then I’ll fuck you so hard you can’t walk for a week. And dear god above, I want you to do every dirty thing that is going through your mind. I am going to taste every single part of you.”
Sherlock whimpered. Actually whimpered underneath him. John kissed him again. Their bodies pressed into each other. They wouldn’t last long. Sherlock’s fingers had hooked into John’s waistband and he started tugging at the material. Without stopping the kiss, John got his pants off and grabbed the lube.
John could tell Sherlock wouldn’t last long. He sure as hell wouldn’t and Sherlock had clearly been working himself up for a while.
His fingers slipped in with ease and Sherlock arched when he got his second finger in. He made quick and thorough work of it. Sucking at Sherlock’s neck as he did so. Until Sherlock’s hand came to pull his head back by his cheek. They locked eyes and Sherlock nodded. They were far past the need for words. John removed his fingers and covered his cock in lube as he sat up on Sherlock’s hips.
John pushed into Sherlock. One part of his mind was screaming that he was inside Sherlock, while the other half focused on not coming instantly. Sherlock was moaning beneath him and John leant down over him so they could kiss again. He had one hand holding Sherlock’s nape while the other held him up slightly.
He started to rock. Moving agonisingly slowly and wanting to savour every second.
Sherlock started to kiss and lick along John’s jaw. John stuck his nose into the crook of Sherlock’s neck. John started to move more enthusiastically. He took hold of Sherlock and started rubbing his cock along with his thrusts.
They were so close. Wound so tight that John knew it would be the best orgasm of his life. One that would take over his mind for years to come. One that would make him pass out from the strength of his release.
“I love you.”
Sherlock had whispered.
It was spoken against his neck.
John came. Just like that.
His brain went offline.
He came to and realised he had missed Sherlock’s face as he came.
Then, Sherlock started to giggle. Honest to god, giggling. John could feel it more than he could hear it. Sherlock was covering his face with one hand and was looking away from John. John started to giggle too. It was infectious.
He looked down at the mess they had made and was struck dumb.
“Ignore that. Heat of the moment, it was noth-”
John kissed Sherlock. He pulled out and Sherlock gasped and groaned and grabbed onto John. They kept kissing. It was slow but still had passion that was growing.
“I love you too.”

________
You didn't know what else to say, feeling ashamed. Who cared about your family circumstances? Definitely not Steve Rogers, a man you met just a couple of weeks ago and who knew nothing about you. Why did you say something like that in the first place?
You didn't wanna look at his face and see him feeling guilty because he didn't know how to comfort you. You didn't need to be comforted. You didn't need anything at all. It was just a simple cold, right?
Despite that, you suddenly started talking from beneath your blankets, "I have a younger brother. When he was born, we found out he was having severe asthma. His childhood was terrible, he had constantly been sick, I remember him being in and out the hospital all the time. Of course, because of his condition, my parents spent most of the time with him. He was just a little sick kid."
You hated yourself for talking, for showing something to Steve he shouldn't have known because he wasn't your friend, but you couldn't force yourself to stop.
"On the other hand, I am lucky to have good health. I didn't really got very sick, so, well, I didn't need help like my brother. So, I'm used to taking of myself. I'm a big girl, I don't need my mom to dance around me just because I have a cold."
Of course, you didn’t. You were perfectly capable of taking care of yourself, and even of Steve didn't show up, you'd be alright by yourself. You'd just take your acetaminophen, and then everything would be ok.
You kept silent, staring at the inside of the blanket and wishing Steve would just disappear, leaving you to your misery. You didn’t see his face, and you were glad you didn't. What he must think about you? That you were craving for his attention like a spoiled kid? Shit, it was so embarrassing. You were an adult, for goodness sake!
"I don't know about you, but when I had a flu sachet, it would make me fall asleep really quick. And when I was feeling sleepy, I would start thinking about the things I loved most because I hoped I would see them in a dream." Instead of feeling ever more ashamed, you listened to Steve's soft voice and thought you were lucky it was him being here with you now. "It actually worked, and I have been having my best dreams when I was asleep, sick. What are the things you love most?"
Surprised, you looked up at him and saw the most gentle expression on a face of a guy you had ever met. Why did he look at you like that? Why was there no pity on his face? Why was it making you cry like you were a ten year old kid? Before he could see anything, you hid beneath the blanket again and kept silent for a couple of moments to calm down.
"I love lemon pies my grandma used to make me, and her garden. She had tomatoes and cabbage and strawberries that smelled like summer. I loved watering them nearly every day because I thought I was a little forest witch who lived in her pretty cottage in the woods."
You didn't know why you were telling him this, but Steve has a strange effect on you. Or was it cold? You had no idea, but it didn’t really matter. All you were thinking about was the way fresh tomatoes smell when you'd leaned down to water them, and the sound of bees flying above strawberry's flowers. Your grandma was taking care of her cabbage - a very capricious guest in her garden - and you could hear her working, cursing grandpa for making the patches too wide in that funny voice of hers. Then she'd stood up, wiped the sweat with the back of her hand, and called you to come back to the cottage because if was time for dinner. You'd run to wash your hands in a barrel of water near the big apple tree when grandma didn't see, and soon you were sitting with her, eating her famous cabbage soup and then having a piece of a lemon pie because you worked so well today.
You could almost feel the taste on the tip of your tongue.
By the time you woke up, Steve was long gone: it was the middle of the night, and instead of him you saw a thermos with a still warm chicken soup on a chair, waiting for you. He sent you a message that you could call him at any time of the day - or night - and that he wanted you to have a bit more sleep to get better. After you had a few more sips of his soup, you fell asleep again, feeling warm and fuzzy.
_______
The weekend went fast. It was the first time in several years you spent so much time in bed. Steve kept appearing at your door from time to time with a new bags of food despite you telling him you had your own, but he always insisted you should it something fresh and warm. Surprisingly, he wasn't the only one at your door: Thor suddenly showed up with his whole team, bringing you notes for the upcoming exams they collected altogether, apparently. Loki sent you a message if you needed anything, and Peter left contacted you on Instagram, leaving you links to games you could play so you wouldn't feel bored. Even Bucky gave you a call, asking if he could come and give you a few packs of Neo Citran for your cold, but you kindly refused: Steve literally brought you a yearly supply of this.
It was strange. Of course, when you were in high school, your friends grew worried about you when you had been sick, but there was nothing else to it. Wasn't it always like this? Nobody came to see you. Nobody brought you soup or gave you meds or anything. Despite feeling embarrassed, you realized you actually liked it when somebody was close to you like that. It was comforting seeing Steve popping up and not having to worry about how pretty you looked: he laughed when he saw you getting all shy because you were in your pyjamas. He said he definitely didn't expect you laying on your bed in an evening gown.
Before you realized it, you were already getting better. It was just a cold, really. Soon your throat was no longer sore, and while you were still sneezing, your temperature dropped down to normal, so on Monday you were ready to come back to school as planned. Funny enough, you no longer cared if you passed your exams, having 100%. You didn’t talk about it with Steve, but Peter was laughing like crazy about that when you told him.
Funny. They no longer looked so scary to you. They were just a couple of boys, weren't they? Regardless all those scary rumors and stuff, they were just guys. Maybe they were weird and stupid and a little bit scary because you didn't know them, they were still alright. Thor said it to you, didn't he?
Monday was Bucky's day, so, once you were done dressing, he nocked at your door: you were feeling a bit shy, watching him in that leather jacket and torn jeans he kept wearing the whole year around, apparently. Barnes looked like a teenage girl's dream. He smelled like cigarettes - although he said he was trying to quit - and pinewood. Just like Thor, he liked to skip classes he didn't enjoy much, but he was smart enough to pass the exams. Funny enough, he had a motorcycle.
Again, you wondered how come girls weren't coming from a city on a bus just to go see him.
"Are you sure you’re feeling better?" He asked you softly. "You can stay home today."
"No, no, I'm perfectly alright, thank you! How are you?" Smiling, you closed the door and hid the key in your bag.
"I'm good, thank you."
He didn't speak much, but as you walked in silence, you thought it was comforting - not talking at all and feeling good about it. While Bucky looked like a scary biker, in fact, his calm and friendly demeanor only helped you relax around him. Besides, it was funny how students seemed to give him way whenever they saw him, and you thought if Steve was the King, then Bucky was the Knight.
Before you went into the your classroom, he suddenly stopped you, "Listen, I wanted to say I have your stuff."
You blinked, "What stuff?"
You didn't give him any of your stuff. Actually, after Steve gathered you all in the student council room, you only met Bucky this morning for the first time.
"The stuff those freaks took. Your... your clothes, I mean." He muttered under his breath, and you gaped at him.
Your underwear. He found your bra and panties those guys took from your room.
"Wait... how?" Staring at Bucky who, apparently, was feeling a bit embarrassed talking about it, you thought how on Earth he got those things.
There was only one way he could, right?
"Bucky, was it you who beat those guys?"
It took him a couple of seconds to turn his face to you and then sigh, "Yes, it was me."

Out of the Blue
*This was a request*
Warnings - smut / unplanned pregnancy / talk of abortion
I've used a fictional family for Cillian for this, names have been changed.
"That's it then," Cillian sighed, reading the letter from his solicitor, his friend Adam sitting opposite him in the kitchen of Cillian's new apartment in North Dublin. The Decree Nisi, his divorce from Kate now final. He felt a tinge of sadness, he couldn't help it, they'd spent most of their lives together and shared two teenage boys, but he couldn't forgive her cheating on him while he was away filming, the trust had left him completely.
"To a fresh start, Cill." Adam raised his bottle of beer to Cillian's pint of Guinness as they toasted, Ada ln trying to lighten the darkness in his best friend's eyes. "You're better off without her - now you can move on."
"Yeah no thanks, I'm done with women for a LONG time Ad, they're all the fucking same!" Cillian smiled, almost a laugh. "All I'm interested in now is the boys, they've been through one hell of a rollercoaster this last year."
"When are they coming to stay?"
"Tomorrow afternoon, I've got them all weekend."
"Then tonight Mr Murphy I am taking you OUT! Come on, we can go check out that new bar in the city, there's a band on!" Cillian groaned, that was not his plan for this evening. All he wanted was his pyjamas, a good book and an early night. This wasn't lost on Adam. "I'm not taking no for an answer here, come on! It's been months since you went out, let's do this!"
"Adam please... Not tonight yeah? Maybe next week, or.."
"Enough! No! You're not moping any more, I'm taking to out and that's the end of it." Cillian rolled his eyes. Fuck it, arguing with Adam was pointless, he'd known this since high school.
Within an hour they were ready, both of them in jeans and Timberland boots, Cillian in a blue striped t shirt and Adam in a green one. Hair fixed, they headed out to the waiting taxi outside.
"The first sign of someone trying to take my picture, I'm out of there Adam..." Cillian dreaded the thought of being papped out on the town following his divorce. The papers just wanted a scoop on who he'd be sleeping with now he was freshly single and available. Adam nodded in agreement a deal, as the taxi pulled outside the bar.
******************************
Y/n woke up, her head pounding. Opening her eyes she looked around at her surroundings, not recognising a single thing.
"The fuck have you done this time y/n..." You groaned, rolling your eyes and sitting up gingerly, trying to stop the contents of your stomach from evacuating violently over the unfamiliar bedsheets. Glancing at the alarm clock, you groaned again. 8am... Why the hell was it so damn early.. and where the fuck was she?? She heard a door downstairs open and close, and froze. She wasn't alone. Footsteps up the stairs, she quickly hid back under the covers pretending to be asleep as she heard the bedroom door open and the pressure on the side of the bed as someone sat down next to her sleeping body.
"Hey.. you awake?" An Irish voice filled the silence, as the smell of fresh coffee found its way under the duvet you were hiding under. Clenching your eyes tightly together, you slowly pulled the duvet back and opened them, seeing the man you clearly spent the previous evening with. Your eyes found his.. my god they were so blue.. he was handsome.. bit older than you, maybe? You couldn't tell for sure. You definitely recognised him from somewhere other than last night though, maybe he went to uni with you?
"Um... Morning.. I uh -" you sat up, taking the coffee from his hand, thanking him.
"Did we -"
"Did we.."
You both spoke at the same time. Clearly neither of you remembering the night before. You smiled, he smiled, before you both burst out laughing.
"Fucking hell, how wasted were we? We can't even remember if we had sex or not? I've NEVER been that drunk.. listen I'm sorry, this isn't exactly a great morning after huh?" He took a sip of his coffee, blushing slightly.
"Hey this is not something I do regularly okay.." he shook his head agreeing, neither did he.
"Cillian." He offered you his hand to shake, still smirking. "Listen if you can't remember if we had sex, you definitely can't remember my name..." Your turn to blush now.
"Y/n. And no. I definitely don't remember. But if it makes you feel any better, I'm still fully clothed? I don't think we had sex then redressed, do you?" You laughed, showing him you were still wearing the top and jeans you had on last night.
The pair of you laughed in relief.. eyes meeting again as the tension finally left the room.
"I can drive you home whenever you're ready y/n. If you need to get back?" Cillian offered.
"Erm.. oh yeah.. that'd be great, thank you.. listen, would it be cheeky to ask for a shower, or..."
"Hey, no not at all! Just through there," he pointed to his en suite. "I'll fetch you a towel, take your time."
You smiled. Those beautiful blue eyes were captivating you completely, you couldn't drag your own eyes away. He couldn't take his own from yours either, that tension was back, but it was a different kind of tension this time. Neither of you could remember how you got here, but neither of you minded that it had happened.
"You.. I'll go have that shower, yeah?" You moved to stand but stumbled slightly, landing closer to Cillian. He didn't move. Your face was now a mere few inches from his. Those eyes, once again never leaving yours. Your core burned, glancing down you saw the obvious excitement in his trousers, causing you to groan quietly.
He leaned in slowly, lips brushing yours carefully. You couldn't stop yourself kissing him back, within seconds the kiss becoming heated, tongues colliding. He leaned you back down onto the bed, moving his body to cover your own. You couldn't stop yourself, it was as if you were moving in autopilot, everything inside your core was on fire, demanding more of this incredible man immediately.
He stopped kissing you and hovered over your face, rubbing his nose against yours.
"Are you sure about this y/n?" You nodded, and kissed him again hungrily, parting your legs as he fell between them, grinding his own hips against yours. You could feel his hard-on, and you bucked your hips against his.
"Please... Don't stop now... I need this.. even if I never see you again after this Cill, just let me.."
"Baby I don't do one night stands... I'm taking you for breakfast as soon as we're done. Deal?" You smiled, no that was probably a grin. Breakfast sounded damn good right now, but not as good as he'd feel buried inside you.
"Deal. Now fuck me.. please?"
"Your wish is my command." Clothes removed, he grabbed a condom from his jeans pocket (Adam bought them the night before, he remembered that part at least, him slipping a couple into his jeans pocket as Cillian protested he wasn't going to sleep with anyone that night anyway...) Slipping it on, he pushed himself inside you, filling you completely.
"Fuck... Cillian that's fucking it..." You raised your hips with each thrust, he buried his face into your neck, biting the skin and sucking it slightly. You could hear him moaning into your collarbone.
"Shit you feel good... So fucking tight y/n..."
"Harder... Cillian, harder..." Your nails scratched down his back - if he was marking you, you were absolutely marking him in return. His thrusts now came hard and fast, as your walls clenched around him, your body finding that sweet release you needed, you hands pulling his hair hard. He came immediately after you, with a low moan into your hair as he pulled it in return, both of you panting trying to catch your breath.
"Shit me... I wasn't expecting that.." Cillian eased himself out, catching the condom before throwing it on the floor by the bed. Collapsing next to you, he turned to face you.
"I'm sorry... I don't even know you and I'm fucking you.. this isn't me y/n, I mean it, I don't do this, I've NEVER done this before."
"Hey, you've never had a one time thing? Seriously?"
"I was married for 20years until last night y/n!" He laughed, causing you to smile too. Suddenly your smile dropped a little.
"How old are you? If you don't mind me asking.."
"42. You?"
"If I tell you, don't freak out yeah?"
"Y/n I know you're younger okay, just tell me. It's okay."
"24." His eyes widened, was that in horror? Shock? Disgust? You couldn't tell but it didn't look good...
"24?? Shit me... The press are gonna have a field day with this..." You sat up, suddenly extremely self conscious. Age was never an issue for you, you actually preferred an older man, but it clearly bothered him.
"The press?" You asked, confused. "Why on earth would they be bothered?"
Cillian looked at you. You looked back at him completely deadpan. Shit, you were serious.
"Google me. Cillian Murphy." You reached into your jeans pocket for your phone and typed his name.
"Oh shit..."
**********************************
"Y/n, you still with me?" Cillians voice floated through the screen, knocking you from your daydream. Filming over in England for Peaky Blinders, Skype calls were your norm now.
"What? Shit sorry, baby, I was in a world of my own then! What did you say?"
"I asked if that delivery had arrived from Amazon, those books I ordered? You ok?"
"What books? Oh, those.. erm yeah I think so, something arrived for you earlier anyway, I left it on the kitchen side for you for when you get home next week. At least I think I did..."
"What's going on with you? Are you okay? You haven't been yourself for a few days now, forgetting things? You left your keys at work the other day, your phone in your friend's car.. what's going on?" Truth be told, you had no idea. Since your chest infection four months ago, you'd lost the ability to adult. You and Cillian had moved into a new home on the outskirts of Dublin 4 months ago, that morning after being the start of a blossoming romance, that led to you moving in together within the space of 6 months. Everyone had something to say, especially his ex wife who was still telling everyone who'd listen that you were obviously sleeping together while Cillian was still married, obviously he traded her in for a younger model, obviously blah, blah, blah... Never mind the fact that SHE cheated on HIM, no mention of that... Luckily your friends and family saw past all of it, and welcomed the new relationship - seeing how good you two fitted together, it wasn't hard to see why. You were the gin to his tonic, exactly what you both needed without you knowing you needed it. But these last few months, you'd felt completely spaced out - not even you could deny it.
"That chest infection really knocked the wind out my sales Cill, I haven't been right since! My mind's gone to absolute mush! Maybe I'm just run down, I've got the rest of the week off now so I'll get some rest, I promise."
"Maybe book a doctor's appointment y/n, you should be over this by now, you took all your antibiotics, yeah?"
"Yep, every one, right on time. Babe I'm so tired! I can't explain it!"
"Hit the sack babe, get an early one. I'll call you tomorrow. Don't forget to make that appointment okay?" You agreed, eyes growing heavy. You told each other I love you before closing the call and heading straight to bed.
You left the doctor's appointment the following day with tears in your eyes. This couldn't be happening... You took out your phone to call Serena, your best friend.
Approaching her front door, she opened it and immediately held you as sobs racked your body. Taking you inside away from any prying paparazzi, she put the kettle on.
"He's gonna kill me Serena... This isn't supposed to happen! We agreed - this wasn't part of our plan!! What am I going to do? How could I have been so stupid?"
"This isn't your fault y/n.. and he is not going to kill you, okay?" Nausea overcame you and you ran to her downstairs toilet, your breakfast evacuating violently into the toilet bowl. Serena made you a glass of water. Your phone vibrated, Cillian's name appearing on the screen. You ignored it. Again. Three times he'd called, three times you ignored it.
"You have to tell him sooner or later, y/n..." Serena was at the door, glass of water in hand.
"How? How exactly do I tell the man who is adamant he wants no more children that I'm fucking pregnant Serena? And I'm already 13 weeks gone? How did I not know?" Sobs overcame you again, your phone vibrating a fourth time. This time, a voicemail was left. Shakily, you listened to it.
"Y/n what the fuck? Call me. Call me right now." He didn't sound happy - from just a few missed calls, that was a bit extreme! Once you'd calmed down, Serena left you alone in her kitchen while you called him back via WhatsApp, hands still shaking.
"Baby, what's going on?? Paul's just shown me a photo on Twitter of you leaving the doctors with tears in you eyes, what the hell is happening?" You cursed yourself.. fucking photographers everywhere!
"Babe, are you alone? And sitting down? Put your phone on video call." He did as you asked and you saw his panic-stricken face fill the screen as you settled your phone on the counter. He saw your pale, tear-stained face and turned a shade of white.
"Y/n what is it?"
"I went to the doctor's -"
"I know that, y/n..."
"Look, this is easier if you don't interrupt me, yeah?" He nodded an apology and sat back, arms folded. "So that chest infection.. I had to take antibiotics. And it would appear that antibiotics... Well.. they render the pill completely useless and -" his eyes widened as he listened to you.
"The fuck are you saying y/n?"
"I'm pregnant, Cillian. 13 weeks." You closed your eyes, waiting for him to scream at you. Shout at you. Curse you. But he said nothing. Silence. Complete radio silence. You opened your eyes, tears threatening to fall any second. "Well fucking say something Cill!"
"I... I don't... Fuck y/n... This is a joke, right? You're joking? It's April 1st and you're having me on, yeah?"
"No, Cillian, it's July 15th and I am not FUCKING JOKING!!" The tears fell freely now, how much of an arsehole could he be. You saw him stand up and walk across the room out of view and your tears fell harder. Serena re-entered the room hearing your sobs but you waved her back. Composing yourself..
"Cillian... Cillian are you still there? Cillian?!" He came back into view and sat back down, eyes wet. He was crying.
"I'm sorry.. baby I'm sorry I didn't mean.." choking his words, so many emotions running through his mind. Another wave of nausea saw you suddenly dash out of view to throw up in the toilet again. All he saw was you run.
"Y/n?? Baby?? Where you going??" Serena came into view.
"Cill she's fine - it's morning sickness. She's okay don't worry." Cillian breathed a sigh of relief seeing your best friend there, at least you weren't alone.
"Listen, go take care of her yeah, tell her to call me when she's feeling okay.. and tell her I love her. We'll be okay. Everything will be okay, I promise." Serena smiled, nodding her head, ending the call, making her way back to you, still wretching into the bowl.
*************************************
"How are you feeling?" Cillians voice helped to ease the pain. Your morning sickness had subsided, at least for the last couple of days. Your bump appeared out of nowhere once you'd found out you were pregnant, but with the sudden change in your body came changes you really didn't appreciate - your pelvis was agony. Since you hit the 7 month mark, it felt like it was on fire daily.
"Like dogshit. Like my hips want to cripple me. This is hell Cillian, I miss you so much!" You started to cry again, Cillian feeling completely helpless. He'd already missed so much of this precious time filming, neither of you able to come home or visit due to Covid restrictions and y/n having a high risk pregnancy. Severe morning sickness, coupled now with severe pelvic girdle pain, doctors had signed you off on sick until your maternity leave kicked in in 6 weeks time. You couldn't walk now without crutches, relying on friends and family to bring you groceries. You were beginning to resent your own baby, which made you feel even worse.
"I'm on the first flight home tomorrow morning, we wrapped filming up a month early so I could come home sooner. I wanted to surprise you, but I'm shit at surprises!" He chuckled, causing you to giggle too. You perked up, still lay on the sofa like a bloated whale but at least you were smiling now.
"Really? You'll be home tomorrow?"
"Flight lands at 7am. I'll be home by 7:45. And I'm not going anywhere, y/n, I've cleared my schedule. Nothing coming up, no press, no interviews, I'm completely yours and the baby's for the foreseeable future. I promise." Tears fell again, but this time, happy ones. He'd be home in less than 12 hours. One more sleep, and he'd be home.
*************************************
"Come on y/n... You can do this!" You gripped Cillians hand hard as another contraction rippled painfully across your abdomen. Why the fuck did you refuse the epidural? What the hell were you thinking??
"I can't... I can't do it... Cillian I've been doing this for hours I can't..... Aaaaahhhhhh!" You screamed as your body took over and you bore down. The midwife ordering you to push.
"You can, you can baby, come on... She's nearly here! So close now, just a little longer..." He breathed with you, patting your head with a cold flannel to cool you down. Another contraction, another push...
Suddenly the room erupted with a baby's loud cry, swiftly followed by your own. Cillians eyes watered as your daughter was lifted in the air, still attached by the umbilical cord. Cillian cut it, taking your daughter into his arms. It was already decided he would hold your baby first, after all, you'd been carrying her for 9 months! You choked, seeing him holding your baby for the first time, as he carried her over to you to hold to your chest.
"She's here... She's beautiful.. look at her eyes Cillian!" Ocean blue, just like his.
"She has your nose y/n... My god she's perfect..." He kissed your head gently, openly sobbing now and not caring in the slightest. He thanked you. He thanked you for bringing his daughter safely into the world, for going through hell during the worst pregnancy you could've imagined..
"All worth it... Every second.. but I'm never doing this again Cillian.. I mean it, never again." You glared at him then at the scissors on the table, then down at his groin.
"Fuck off, y/n, I'm not having anyone snipping anything down there..."
"Looks like a life of celibacy then Murphy, that's the only logical conclusion."
"I'll book an appointment next week." You smirked. Very rarely did you not get your own way, and now he had two girls against him, he knew he'd never get his OWN way ever again.
And he wouldn't have it any other way.

Fred Weasley - Lover
Tumblr media
“Why do I have to go this?” I asked again, wincing down at the small bottle of pink liquid in front of me.
“Because you owe us a favour for not ratting you out to Snape for cheating on your test last week.” George said. “And we need someone to test our Love Potion.”
“Now remember you’ll be obsessed with the next person you look at for twenty-four hours, so look at me.” Fred said.
I rolled my eyes. “It won’t kill me, will it?” I warily asked, bringing it to my nose and sniffing.
“Don’t worry, I was very careful.” George said. “Now bottoms up.”
I groaned and pinched my eyes closed, bringing to the rim of the bottle to my lips and quickly gulping the liquid. It tasted incredibly sweet, so much so it made my jaw twinge in pain. I pulled back and groaned, rubbing my jaw.
“You okay?” I heard Fred ask.
“Yeah I’m...” I opened my eyes and looked at him. “Fine.”
“Has it worked?” He asked.
“Yeah...” I whispered.
I’d never noticed how utterly handsome he was. His cheekbones were sculpted into his face, his nose strong, his jawline so sharp it could cut. His eyes were a deep blue, long hair sweeping in the most beautiful shade of red. He was tall, and built, presumably from all the Quidditch he played. Not only that but he was smart, and funny. Why hadn’t I noticed him before?
“Looks like you’ve got an admirer there.” George joked, pushing his brother lightly.
“You’re so good-looking.” I gasped, falling into Fred chest as I peered up at him. “And so funny and smart and kind.”
“Woah there.” Fred caught me, smiling down at me. “Easy Tiger.”
I giggled. “I never noticed you before, why?” I wondered aloud.
“No clue.” Fred replied.
“Come on, let’s get her to bed.” George said, gathering up my school books.
I practically hung off Fred’s arm on the way to the dormitory. “You smell so good.” I sighed, pressing my cheek against his shoulder.
“Jesus Georgie, how strong did you make this thing?” Fred asked.
George stifled a laugh. “I’ll dampen it a bit.”
I dreamily gazed up at Fred as he muttered the password to the Common Room, leading me inside. Everyone turned to look at us with an odd expression as Fred led me through the busy room. George broke off to go talk to some friends, whilst Fred took care of me.
Once inside my dorm, he sat me on the bed and stood before me. “I didn’t think it would work this well.”
I grabbed his hand. “Your hands are so big! God, you look so strong.” I complimented.
“What’s wrong with her?” Hermione asked, sitting up from her slouched position.
“Love Potion, George and I were testing it.” Fred chuckled down at me. “Tomorrow you won’t feel the same way.”
“But I love you!” I screeched, standing up and immediately wrapping my arms around him. “I could never fall out of love with you, Freddie!”
He laughed loudly and placed me back on the bed. “Keep an eye on her would you?” He said to Hermione who nodded along. “Night Y/N.”
“Night Freddie.” I sighed, smiling up at him brightly. I watched him leave before I collapsed onto the bed. “Hermione, I’m in love!”
She giggled a little. “It’s a Love Potion.”
I sat up quickly. “Is not! You know I had a huge crush on him before this.” I sighed.
I got ready for bed, babbling on about Fred and how wonderful he was. It was nearing midnight and all the girls were tucked away in bed, while my mind was still racing.
“Do you think he loves me back?” I asked out loud.
A chorus of groans filled the room. “Would you be quiet! You’ve been talking about him for hours.” Lavender said.
I sat up. “He’s so amazing though! Him and George have this great idea to open up a jokes shop and I really believe that he can make it and-“
“That’s it!” Hermione jumped out of bed, pulling the covers off my body. “We’re going to see Fred.”
I immediately jumped out. “You’re such a good friend, taking me to see the man I’m in love with!”
I wrapped my arm around my shoulder as Hermione quickly walked to the boys dorm. She banged loudly, for a long time.
“Fred Weasley, you get out here this instant!” She yelled.
Fred swung open the door with just pyjama bottoms on, rubbing his eyes and looking down at us. “It’s midnight, what the hell are you doing?”
Hermione stepped aside and Fred and I looked at one another. “Hi Freddie.” I dreamily sighed.
“She won’t shut up about you, so you’re going to deal with her for the night.” Hermione crossed her arms.
“She can’t sleep in here!” He defended.
“Not my problem.” Hermione grabbed my arm and pushed me into Fred’s chest, storming away.
“I guess we’re roomies for the night.” I winked.
“Oh god...” Fred sighed. “Stay here.”
I did as I was told and waited patiently for him to come back. He soon did, with a thick jumper and white trainers on, grabbing my hand.
“Where are we going?” I asked as I was tugged through the Common Room.
“The library,” he said. “There’s got to be something in there about breaking this damn spell.”
I followed after him, hand still clutched in mine. “I love you Fred, have I told you that? You’re just the best guy I’ve ever met and-“
Suddenly a hand came over my mouth and I was pushed against the wall, Fred craning his neck to peer behind the corner. Seconds later Feltch passed us, frowning before shrugging and going back in the direction he came.
Fred looked down at me. “Promise you’ll be quiet.” He whispered.
I nodded and Fred removed his hand. “I’d do anything for you, Fred.”
He rolled his eyes and tugged me behind him again. Once we successfully snuck into the library, Fred led us through the winding bookcases, picking up various books as we walked.
“Can I talk now?” I whispered.
“Quietly.” He whispered back, skimming over the pages.
“Do you love me back?” I asked, propping myself up on the side table next to Fred.
“Of course I do.” He mumbled, flicking to the next page.
“No, like are you in love with me.” I giggled.
He looked at me. “Y/N, you aren’t in love with me.” He said.
I frowned and pouted my lips. “Yes I am!” I squeaked.
“Shh!” He hissed.
I blushed. “I am in love with you, I was before this stupid potion.”
He stopped reading and snapped his eyes to me. “What?”
I snorted. “Don’t tell me you didn’t know, I have a huge crush on you!”
“You do?” I nodded. “Why?”
“Because you’re smart and funny, and handsome, and you smell amazing and you’re so strong and-“
“Forget I asked.” He said, turning back to the book.
I looked down at my hands. “You’d never go for a girl like me.” I muttered.
“Why would you say that?” He asked, grabbing another book and quickly reading.
I sighed heavily. “Because I’m awkward and you’re so cool. I’m not nearly as smart as you, I feel like you get bored when I speak to you. I’m not very pretty, not compared to some of the girls in your year.”
Fred had stopped reading by now and was intently watching me as I made my points. “Don’t say those things about yourself.” He murmured.
I shrugged. “It’s true though. I’m frumpy and my hair is always a mess, I try and do make up but somehow makes me look worse. I’m not terribly skinny and god I eat my feelings.”
“Hey,” he moved to stand in front of me and cupped my cheeks. “You’re the funniest, smartest, most beautiful girl I’ve ever laid eyes on.”
I beamed up at him. “Really?”
“Really.” He smiled. “How an earth could you think I’d never date you?”
“I never thought you saw me in that way.” I confessed.
“I never saw you in any other way, I thought it was you who wouldn’t be interested in me.” He chuckled lowly.
I sighed. “Oh Freddie...”
His eyes flicked down to my lips for a moment, his teeth sinking into his bottom lip. His hands still cupping my cheeks, he slowly moved forward. He pressed a kiss delicately against mine, pressing a little harder as a small whimper escaped my lips.
He pulled back. “Better?”
“Marry me.”
He laughed loudly, clamping a hand over his mouth once he realised we were meant to be hidden. “One day.” He winked. “I can’t find anything to break this spell...”
“I don’t want it broken.” I said.
He rolled his eyes and helped me off the desk. “Come on, Lover.”
Fred and I spent most of the night talking in the Common Room, learning new and wonderful things about each other that only made me fall harder for him. I spent the rest of the morning gushing to the girls about my night with Fred, all of them rolling their eyes and trying to get on with school work.
I sat next to Fred in the Great Hall, arm looped through his as I rest my head against his shoulder and listened to him talk to the other boys about the upcoming Quidditch match.
Wait...what was I doing? I slowly moved my arm from his and sat up, Fred curiously looking down at me.
“You okay?” He asked.
“Uh oh, I think it’s wearing off.” George said from across the table.
I looked at Fred. “Oh god...” I blushed as I remember everything I said last night.
“Hey there Lover.” He smirked, right eye dropping in a wink.
“Oh god!” I screeched as I scrambled off the bench and immediately started running away, ignoring the howls of laughter as I scurried off into my own personal hell.
Safe to say the Love Potion worked.

Wormhole
Steve is laying on his bed wearing his pyjamas, his eyes droopy and his mind hazy with tiredness but still, he insists on texting his friends. A normal tuesday, it appears.
Until suddenly, a big blue ring light starts to shine out of nowhere in the middle of his room. Steve sits on the bed, eyes wide. Suddenly a person gets out from inside the light. A boy about his height, his big honey eyes hiding behind his dark hair that was covering almost all of his freckled face. He was wearing black pants, a white button up and a coat. He looked drenched but still, he looked very handsome.
Is Steve too sleep deprived? Is he dreaming? Is he imagining this? He doesn't know.
"Oh thank god, it's you" the boy holds Steve's shoulders and kisses his cheek quickly, dropping a little device on the bed beside him.
"Um. Hello? W-who are you?" Steve freezes, trying to understand what just happened. He's not imagining it then, since the kiss felt very real. He would've blushed if the situation wasn't really scary.
"What? It's me. I guess I might look a little different, I've been traveling around for a while. Ugh my clothes are gross. I'm just gonna change real quick, okay?" the guy rambles walking to Steve's closet and opening the door. He searches for something, getting all his clothes out of the way. Steve frowns. What the fuck is this dude doing?
"Did you move my stuff again?"
"I literally don't know what you're talking about." Steve slowly gets up and walks towards the door.
"C'mon Steve, stop messing around, they were right here" he half laughs and keeps searching. A shiver goes down Steve's spine. He knows his name. Is he a spy? An alien? Is he here to harm him? Steve grabs his bat carefully and places it on his neck.
"I'd appreciate if you stopped messing with my stuff and left. I don't know who you are and why you're here! Just leave me alone!" he says with a rough voice.
Eli turns to face Steve, ready to laugh and ask 'what is this, a prank?' but his smile drops as soon as he sees Steve with the bat and a serious expression.
"Steve, calm down! It's me, your best friend, Eli Pepperjack. Do you seriously not recognize me?"
"Wrong! My best friend is Jim Lake and everybody knows that. I've never seen you before in my life!"
Steve and Jim being best friends??? Something is definitely Not Right. Eli looks around in disbelief. Now that he notices, Steve looks... younger. The room looks different too. It's the same style, but the colors are all wrong. He peeks outside the window and the street is slightly different too. Oh my god.
Did he just travelled to a parallel universe? One that Steve doesn't know him? He knew the wormhole could do that, but only on command! How did it malfunctioned so badly??
Steve adjusts his hands on the bat, getting Eli out of his thoughts.
"Wait! Wait! I can explain! I can prove that I know you!"
Steve considers, still not moving from the position he's in. The boy seems scared but somehow his eyes are shining, inviting. Steve sighs.
"Ok. Go on." he raises an eyebrow, curiously.
"Your favorite color is blue. You favorite food is pancakes. You can't have spicy food. You had a crush on Claire Nunes"
"Those are really basic and you could easily be lying. Or spying on me! And everybody had a crush on Claire!" Steve shouts, losing his patience.
"Okay, look." Eli reaches for his back pocket, taking out his wallet and handing Steve a picture of them hugging and smiling, doing the Creepslayerz hand gesture to the camera.
"You like nerdy movies like Gun Robot and Earth Invaders in secret because you don't want people to know. You don't know basic math but that's alright because you're a really great actor and you're very good at sports. Sometimes you let your insecurities get to you and that's why you act like you're superior to everyone else. But you're actually a really nice person. You care a lot about people, so much that you saved my life a thousand times before. You're funny and brave and I love you for that" Eli blurted out without even thinking.
"Wow, okay, that's scary. How is all of this possible?" He puts the bat down and stares at the picture, not believing what he's seeing.
"It's possible because I was traveling through that thing" Eli points to the wormhole device on the bed. Steve reaches it and throws it his way.
"Thanks. It's a wormhole, it's extraterrestrial technology. I've been living in another planet but I try to visit as much as I can. It malfunctioned this time. I'm guessing I ended up in a parallel universe" Eli says matter of factly, clicking the device on his hand. A blue hologram appears in front of them. Steve doesn't recognize the language on it.
"Hold up, are you telling me I'm dating an alien?"
"I literally just told you I'm from another universe and you decided to focus on that?"
"Well yeah" he shrugged.
Eli sighed, smiling.
"No, I'm human. I'm Earth's ambassador on the planet Arkiridion-5."
"Ok but are we dating...?" Steve blushes at him.
"Yes. We are."
"Oh sweet! Point for the Palchuk!" He punched the air. Eli laughs through his nose, shaking his head but still focused on the device.
"Can I ask you some questions?"
"Yeah, go on"
"How did it happen... How did we even... do it?" Steven didn't know how to ask this, but as if he was reading his mind, the brown haired boy answered quickly.
"Well, when we started getting close people just assumed. But our families are okay with it, if that's what you're asking"
"Cool. Alright." Steve knew he was bi for a long time now. He was just afraid of telling his family and friends. What if they got disappointed? What if they couldn't love him? What if he was left behind?
"How will I know if they're like this here too?" Steve asked in a quiet voice after a few seconds of silence and just the bleeping of the device.
"I'm pretty sure they love you in every universe. I know I do." Eli sinceraly stated, not even looking up. Steve had a hard time believing someone cared about him and loved him enough to say something so soft like that. He looked at the picture on his hands again. They were sharing a smile so genuine, their eyes meeting in such a sweet way, like they meant the whole world to each other.
"And how did we meet?" he leaned on the closet, crossing his arms. Eli just kept clicking away.
"At school. We didn't like each other at first, but we figured it out" he exhaled. "Took a while, but we did."
"Why? What happened?"
Eli thought about the years his Steve used to be mean at him and shove him into lockers. It was sad, but he knew there was good in him. Maybe this Steve could do it differently.
"Just... be nice."
"I am nice!" Eli stopped what he was doing, raising an eyebrow on Steve's direction. "Alright, I'll be nicer."
"Good. What year is it?"
"2018"
"Woah, okay, I'm so far off." he clicked a few more times, the big blue ring light popping up in the middle of the room again.
"Wait, you're leaving already?"
"Yeah. My Steve is waiting for me at home."
"But I still have so many questions!"
"Don't worry, it's gonna be alright. Nice to meet you. I hope I see you soon." And with that, he disappeared with the light, leaving Steve alone in his room. He looks down to his hands, still holding the picture strongly. He smiles.
"I hope so too."
Steve didn't remember his name. He tried to think back but at the time he was panicking at the thought of "CUTE BOY IN MY ROOM!" and focusing too hard on the fact that said boy was from another universe. So of course his ADHD brain would forget his name.
But this didn't keep Steve from looking. He was never this excited to go to school before. He started paying more attention to his surroundings, hoping he would spot the mysterious boy somewhere.
Instead, he spotted a fight. "Just be nice" he thought. The older boys being mean to the smaller ones does seem like a good moment to be nice. Also, it was just not fair.
"Hey, why don't you pick someone your size?" Steve approached the bully, tapping him on the shoulder with his eyebrows pinched.
"Ugh. Why do you always have to ruin the party, Palchuk? You had potential but you insist on being on the wrong side" he tries to push Steve, asking for a fight. Steve scoffs and holds the boy's wrist.
"Just let them go. You know you can't win against me." The bully grunts and shakes his wrist from Steve's hold. He nods to his friends and they leave, muttering amongst themselves.
Steve turns to help the other boys out of the ground, offering a hand. The first boy refuses, getting up fast and running away. And that's when finally, Steve sees him. He looks smaller than the boy in his room, his hair is shorter and he was wearing nerdy glasses. But it was definitely him. He would recognize that smile and those eyes anywhere.
"Thanks. Steve, right?" the boy said, holding his hand and getting up. Steve was at a loss of words. He nodded, smiling.
"That was very nice of you. I'm Eli, by the way." he shook his hand. He was real and he was right here, holding hands with him. Ok, this is happening!
"Nice to meet you. That was no problem really, if you ever have any trouble with them again just tell me" Steve blunted out nervously, scratching his neck. Eli smiled, picking up his books and leaving.
"Again, Steve?" the teacher asked, raising an eyebrow. "I'm starting to think you're not even trying. Go to detention!"
Steve sighs, walking with his head down in shame. But this time, when he enters the classroom he sees someone that make his eyes light up.
"Eli! Hi!" Steve sits on the table behind him, excited.
"Oh, hey Steve"
"What are you in here for?" he asks confused.
"I was breaking in. And you?" Eli says as if it's a normal occurrence.
"Woah what???"
"I was trying to study at the lab during recess."
"I didn't know that wasn't allowed"
"Well... I kinda was using their equipment to try and communicate with aliens... Which isn't allowed..." Eli says a little embarrassed.
"Oh" Steve laughs, finding the story very endearing. "So you like space, huh?"
"I do. Imagine if I got to do it. It would've been so cool!" he exclaims, and Steve has to hold back the urge to tell him about the parallel universe.
"It really would. Don't lose hope though" he winks at his direction.
Eli smiles and keeps working on his assignment.
"Y'know, I didn't expect you to be here. You're very... um... nerdy?" Steve admits after some minutes of silence.
"Oh so we're doing stereotypes? Alright, jock. Why are you here? Got into a fight?"
"What? No. I'm a nice person! I just didn't do my homework. Again."
"Because you didn't want to or...?" Eli asked confused, tilting his head. Steve had a genius idea. He felt like those cartoons when a little lamp lights up.
"I'm having a lot of trouble, actually. Are you any good with math?"
"Of course. Why?"
"What do you say you help me with homework and I help you by staying on look out when you're in the lab?"
Eli considered, as he heard the bell ring. He gathers his books and hands Steve a piece of paper before leaving.
"Sure. Text me later so we can talk about it"
"Sounds good" Steve smiled. If this went anything like he wanted to, he better start cleaning some space in his closet.

George Weasley x Reader- How Can You Tell?!
Tumblr media
Gif not mine :)
Dating one of the biggest pranksters in Wizarding History didn’t mean you were any less likely to be the butt of their jokes- that was something you found out within the first few months of dating George Weasley. You didn’t mind it, if anything you loved that George carried on messing around like that with you rather than being too scared to do it once you got together, but both himself and his brother had been working out their “biggest prank yet” on you. Little did they know their little stunt wouldn’t actually work at all on you.
It started this morning. You had a few days left sleeping at the Burrow before Hogwarts started back up after Christmas break and you’d spent most of the mornings laying in bed with George- simply cuddling, talking or uh.. other things- but this morning he ran out of the bedroom almost the second his eyes opened. You sat up confused and just started fixing your hair, wondering what on Earth your boyfriend was up to this time. Minutes later, Fred came bolting in the room wearing George’s pyjamas and holding out a tray towards you, leaving you even more confused.
“Mornin’ darling. Fancy some toast?” He asked as he hopped in the bed under the covers next to you. You stared at him with an eyebrow raised.
“Fred.. not that I don’t love you or anything but why are you here? And in George’s clothes?” You asked, slowly taking a bite of toast.
“What are you talking about? Hit your head on the headboard too hard last night did you? I’ll take it easier next time, promise.” He winked, shuffling closer to you.
“So you’re not Fred? This person sitting right in front of me isn’t Fred? It’s George?” You spoke, catching on to their little trick.
“We’ve been together almost a year and you still can’t tell the difference between us? I’m heartbroken, honestly.” He placed his hand on his chest and shuffled back away from you.
“Sorry Georgie, I was just so sure you were Fred.” You played along. “But if you truly are my wonderful boyfriend you’d be more than happy to kiss me right?” You said, watching as panic went through his eyes before he spoke.
“That can definitely be arranged.”
“Too far Freddie. Get your slimy lips away from her you perv.” George exclaimed walking in the room.
“We almost had her then you twerp.” Fred argued back, getting out of the bed and heading towards the door.
“You honestly didn’t Fred. Not even close.” You laughed, pulling your actual boyfriend back into bed.
“Might have worked if you didn’t improvise Fred. Where did that headboard crap come from anyway?” George questioned, taking a bite out of your other slice of toast.
“Come up with it? George we can all bloody hear it. I’m counting down the days til Hogwarts to finally get some sodding sleep.” Your cheeks burnt at the idea of the rest of the Burrow listening in to yours and George’s rendezvous and George choked back on his toast. “We’ll definitely get you at some point Y/N, even if it kills us.” Were Fred’s last words as he left the two of you alone again in the bedroom.
“How did you know it was Fred?” George asked, finishing off the other slice of toast as you offered it to him.
“George I fell in love with you, not your brother so it’s obvious to me.. besides, you’d never promise to take it easier on me next time.” It was your turn to wink now as you got up and changed. “Meet you downstairs. At least I hope it’s going to be you.” You grinned, turning to shut the door. Fred walked back in moments later to talk with his brother.
“We’re going to have to up the antics Freddie.”
“That we are brother. Christ, she can tell us apart better than our own mother.”
The last few days of the holidays went fast as you soon found yourself back on your way to King’s Cross Station. As usual, you’d finished packing your bags a lot sooner than the boys and was waiting outside for them. You had to quickly hide the smirk that appeared on your face as you noticed them come out with each other’s baggage, even going to the extent to swap over their F and G Jumpers. You thought you’d give them their fun a little longer this time and played along. As the Christmas holidays were shorter you’d all left the majority of your belongings in your dorms, leaving only a small bag of clothes for you each to carry in. Soon enough, Fred walked up to you to play out the normal routine you had with George.
“Ready?” Fred kissed the corner of your mouth and offered his spare arm out to you. They were getting better, you’d give them that. You may have almost believed them if George’s eyes didn’t glare at Fred after the kiss- they’d clearly arranged a cheek kiss, you thought. Typical Fred and his devotion to the game.
“Ready.” You beamed, wrapping your arm around Fred’s and setting off on the journey to King’s Cross. It didn’t take you long but holding your best friend’s hand rather than your boyfriend’s made it seem a little longer.
The boys didn’t let off once you got on the train either but you wanted to talk to the real George, at least until they next thought up a new way to trick you. You all sat in the carriage and you turned to the twin who had started to make himself comfortable wrapping his arm around your shoulders and discussing the pranks they had lined up for the next few weeks, about to end their little game once again.
“Whilst I am quite comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the kindness you showed to me holding my arm on the journey here, is it possible I could go and sit with my boyfriend now?” You asked casually, watching as Fred’s face dropped and he took his arm away from behind you. You jumped up and moved next to George, kissing the frown that had formed on his face and laying your head on his shoulder.
“Bugger. What gave it away this time?” Fred asked, pouting childishly and crossing his arms. He couldn’t keep the straight face for long before laughing. “Literally nobody can tell us apart. That’s our thing.”
“I’ve been able to tell you apart from the start. Plus George is more attractive, sorry.” You teased.
“Y/N we literally have the same face.” Fred answered.
“No no Freddie, you heard the lovely lady. I’m more attractive.” George grinned, kissing the top of your head. “It’s because you left the womb too soon, underdeveloped you see. Those few extra minutes really did wonders on my complexion.”
You laughed and watched on as the two boys bickered the rest of the journey to the castle. Maybe they’d give it one more shot before they realised how obvious it was to you..
A few weeks had passed at Hogwarts, the regular schedule almost making you forget about the boys’ little scheme to make you confuse the pair despite your assurance it would never happen. As a (Your House) Prefect, it was your duty to take watch tonight to make sure there were no students out of bed after curfew. The last thing you expected on your walk tonight was a pair of arms dragging you into an empty storage cupboard with their hand on your mouth. It was pitch black and you went to scream but the hand muffled it.
“Shhhh darling, it’s me. You always say you want a bit more spontaneity in our relationship so here I am, being spontaneous.” Here it was, attempt three; that wasn’t George’s voice. Suddenly one of his hands were on your waist and the other on your cheek, his face came close and you felt his breath on your cheek. “So. You, me, this dark storage cupboard, the thought of getting caught.. sounds fun, don’t you think?”
You leaned up and moved to his ear, your lips ghosting his skin before you spoke. “Sounds very fun, but I have to admit I’d rather do it with my boyfriend.” Suddenly his hands came off your body completely and he opened the cupboard again for you both to step out.
“Good news Georgie, she’s definitely in love with you.” He called out and you watched as your boyfriend rounded the corner. “It’s pitch bloody black in there and she knew it was me.”
“Of course I’m in love with him, why wouldn’t I be?” You laughed a little and walked towards George.
“Well George over here was getting panicky that you didn’t know the difference between us and might pull your moves on this walking piece of sex without realising.” He referred to himself by dramatically pointing up and down his body. “Honestly I didn’t think you could do it, I’m impressed. Our own mum struggles.” He walked past and clapped George on the shoulder. “Well done brother, got yourself a special one. Now let’s get back before Y/N takes points away from Gryffindor.” He finished.
“I’ll catch up in a minute.” George answered, turning his attention towards you. “Sorry, I don’t know what Fred subjected you to in there.” He scratched the back of his neck clearly embarrassed over how far him and his brother had gone for this.
“It’s fine. You know you could have just spoken to me about it, I could quite happily sit there and tell you all the reasons I love you and could never confuse you with Fred.” You offered, smiling. He smiled back, relieved that you weren’t angry.
“An ego stroke never hurt every now and then.” He joked before turning back round to see his brother. “Anyway, better get back, I’ll see you tomorrow?” You leaned up and wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him in for a kiss before moving to whisper in his ear.
“I’m on duty tomorrow night too.. the cupboard definitely was your idea and I’m more than happy to oblige if you meet me here again. But just you this time.” You spoke. A grin broke out on his face and he laughed.
“Wow and you’re a respectable person in this school? A prefect telling me to break curfew for some fonduing? Outrageous behaviour...” He teased. “But you’re lucky I’m just as outrageous. You’re on.” And with that he pecked your lips and left.
You never knew how you ended up lucky enough to get George Weasley to be yours but you hoped to any God out there that it would never have to end.
Bonus Ending that doesn’t technically fit the time sequence but felt necessary....
“Oh and boys?!” You called out to them just before they disappeared into the corridor. They both turned on their heels to look at you. “Whilst, as I’ve said, I can point out so many differences between the two of you the pair of you have forgotten a big difference between you.” You began, watching as they looked at you in confusion. “I’ll tell you tomorrow, you won’t believe me when you EAR it.” You finished, walking back in the other direction laughing to yourself.
“George you bloody idiot you only have one bloody ear.”
“I’m the idiot? You look at me more than I look at me.”
“How do you forget losing a sodding ear?!”
“The trauma Freddie. I blocked it away.”
“You’re gonna have some more trauma to block away when I finish with you.” And with that their childish fighting continued until McGonagall heard the commotion and sent them back to their dorms.
(Let me know if you want a part two in the cupboard 😉)

✾D.K- Two words: fuck, yeah★✶
Master list
Words: 2535
Warnings/kinks: Somnophilia(?), Exhibitionism(?), masturbation, Denki being a perv
Pairing: Kaminari Denki x reader
Summary: a sleepover with the squad, and Denki being horny
                                    ===NSFW under the cut===
Even if you didn't admit it aloud, you were glad Mina dragged you into her friend group. Even if you were in a different class, you still hung out with the group a lot. It took awhile to get used to since you didn't really have any friends before UA, even Mina; she was an acquaintance at most. So having four loud dudes, and an over dramatic Ashido, was a little much.
Kirishima was very patient with you, encouraging your social growth. Bakugo just never talked to you, Sero was like Kirishima and made sure to tone down his energy. Jiro was pretty quiet, but you loved listening to her music. And Kaminari on the other hand.. was a lot like Mina. Over-dramatic, loud, and energetic, oh and not to mention flirty.
In fact, the first words he said to you were, "woah, hey there beautiful."
Needless to say, you avoided talking to him as much as possible after that encounter with him, you didn't want to embarrass yourself. But after you saw him flirting with literally everybody, it gave you a bit of reassurance that he wasn't doing it just to you.
Over the course of six months, your bond grew stronger with the group, and you even started talking to Bakugo when he wasn't as moody. You were still flustered around Kaminari, trying to work up the courage to make him flustered.
"Pass the popcorn," Mina said to you, pulling you out of your daze.
"Oh— here," you handed her the bowl of popcorn. Only about half of the group was actually watching the action movie.
It was strange being in a boy's room, especially since you were sat on the bed with Mina. It wasn't too odd because it was Sero's. It was comforting, it always smelt like Rose incense, and the fairy lights gave it character.
"Y/n if you're not gonna pay attention to the movie at least let someone who actually is on the bed," Sero said with a raised brow.
"Sorry," you said, scratching the back of your head. You slid off the bed to switch spots with Sero, and realized that you were now sitting next to Kaminari. Ahaha, great.
"Oh hey cutie," he winked. He knew what he was doing. It gave him confidence that he was making a pretty person like you blush.
"Hey Buzzy," you replied with a nervous side-smile. You heard his breath hitch at the new nickname, something you came up with about a week ago after training.
As the movie progressed, you could feel Kaminari's gaze periodically land on your face. It made you self conscious, so you thew your hoodie hood over your head and pulled the strings tight. You heard a giggle from Kami.
"Well that was a boring ending," Kirishima said as he switched off the TV. "They could've at least left it on a cliffhanger."
"Well let's just get settled in, then," Sero said.
"I'm gonna go back to my dorm now. Thanks for the movie," Jiro said.
"Oh yeah, anytime," Sero replied.
Bakugo had also left for his room about an hour ago, already two hours past his typical bedtime. So it was just you, Sero, Mina, Kirishima, and Kaminari. One for the hammock, two for the bed, and two on the floor.
"Who's sleeping on the floor?" Sero asked.
"Not it!" You and Kaminari yelled at the same time, pressing a finger to your nose.
"Not it!"
"Not it!"
"..not it! Shit," said Kirishima.
"Well at least you won't be alone on the floor," Sero shrugged.
"I call the hammock!" Mina yelled, jumping onto the piece of hanging fabric.
...shit.
"Well beautiful," Kaminari said, slinging an arm over your shoulders, "looks like you and I will be talking the bed."
"Yeah," you grumbled. "Let me get changed, one sec."
You grabbed your bag and headed to the bathrooms. Of course. Of course this would happen to you. You had to sleep beside your unofficial crush! Wait— what. You let out a sigh at your self-confirmation, slipping on a white tank-top. Well, if you were going to try and fluster him, now would be the perfect time. You pulled on your silky black pyjama shorts, and took a slow spin in front of the mirror. You quickly fixed up your hair and brushed your teeth.
By the time you got back, everyone had changed into their sleeping clothes and were chatting away.
"Oh, y/n! We were just talking about how—" Mina got cut off.
"—how cool Hanta's twinkle lights are! See, they have three different colour settings," Kaminari interrupted, flicking through the settings.
Sero let out a chuckle as he fluffed out his pillow. You might be a little bit of an idiot, but you knew for a fact that they weren't talking about the lights.
Denki took in your sleep-ware, and his jaw nearly broke off the hinges. How on earth was he going to be able to sleep beside you when you were wearing that. True, your shirt had a few random stains, but did you not notice that you could just barely see your nipples through the white fabric?!
Kirishima gave him a quick nudge as if to say, "good luck, careful what you wish for".
Denki knew he shouldn't, but he really wanted to tell you how nice your nipples were. For once he kept his mouth shut, and crawled into Hanta's bed. You and him got separate blankets, but that wasn't enough to calm Denki down. He was going to be laying next to you, while you were wearing the most unintentionally sexy tank top ever. And those shorts... thank god those would be covered under the sheets.
"Ok, what were you guys actually talking about?" You asked, sitting against the headboard.
"We were talking about how Kami's gonna be sleeping with a girl for the first time!" Mina yelled before Denki had the chance to butt in.
Denki felt his face heat up as you started giggling.
"Lucky me," you chortled. You put your hands behind your head as the conversation continued.
"—yeah Denki, why do you brag about being so experienced, but you've never laid down beside a girl before?" Hanta teased, nudging Denki.
"Well you gotta have confidence! That's what gets all the ladies," Denki crossed his arms and stuck up his nose.
"Yeah? Where's your proof?" Kirishima prodded.
"Ok, fine. It hasn't worked.. yet!" Kami said, loosening his stance.
"Whatever you say, Denki," Mina giggled.
The four of them continued to talk for a while, you occasionally giving input. You were pretty drowsy, and remembered that you had barely any sleep the night before. You began to drift, still sitting against the headboard.
Denki let out a startled squeak as he felt a pressure land on him. You were asleep, head leaning on his shoulder, and he felt your arm slowly wrap around his, "uhh."
"Hahaha! Denki you're so red right now!" Mina laughed, hand on her stomach. He felt his cheeks with his free hand, and he was in fact blushing profusely. He leaned over to look at your sleeping figure, and couldn't help but stare at your chest. Your nipples.. were so.. perfect..
"Hello, earth to Kaminari!" Kirishima slapped Denki's leg.
"Ah— hmm?" Denki said, snapping out of his trance.
"You might wanna put a blanket over yourself," Kirishima nodded to Kami's lap.
"O-oh, right. Sorry," denki stuttered. He hadn't even noticed how hard he was, and since he was wearing sweats it was on full show. He quickly grabbed his blanket, and covered his lap. How awkward..
"Imagine if y/n knew what she was doing to you," Mina teased.
"You wouldn't," Denki gulped. No way would you forgive him if you found out.
"But I would," Mina smirked. "Unless..."
"Oh don't blackmail me, Pinky," Denki pouted.
"I wasn't finished!" Mina giggled. "Unless you grow a pair and take her out on a date."
"I-I can't," He started to panic. What if you said no? He didn't usually care about rejection, but with you..
"You've asked out literally every girl in our class, you shouldn't have a problem confessing to your actual crush," Hanta added.
"Ugh," Denki leaned his head back, "but it's different with y/n. I really like her, and I don't wanna fuck things up."
"Your choice," Mina shrugged with a sly grin.
"I'll think about it," Denki frowned. He was too conflicted to rejoin the conversation.
He felt you slip down his arm, and he tried to readjust you, and ended up with your head in his lap. Fuck, not what he intended to do. It felt so good to have some relief from his hard-on, but trying to restrain himself from jerking his hips up— fuck. He did not want you to wake up to him humping your head. He felt his cheeks get hotter, and took a deep breath.
He later managed to gently push you off of him, and covered you with your own blanket. He really needed to have a quick shower.
"Hmmph..?" You mumbled, gripping onto Denki's arm as he tried to escape. Shit.. so cute..
He sighed quietly, and decided to stay in bed. His erection would go away at some point. It was easy but difficult to sleep at the same time. On one hand, you were cuddling into him, and on the other, you were cuddling into him.
Fuck. Erection did not go away. Denki pulled out his phone and squinted at the time: 4:15am. He was now even harder than he was before, but he was still trapped. In fact, you had managed to sneak under his blanket and fully drape one arm over his torso. Shit, Shit.
Maybe he could just peel your arm away from him and— ah crap. Your thighs gripped his leg; another restriction. Denki could admit that he was really enjoying your attention, awake or not. The thought of your crotch so close to him made Denki whimper. He couldn't just go back to sleep, he would end up having a wet dream and horribly embarrassing himself.
Denki guilty looked over to Hanta's side table at the tissue box. He glanced at you again and took a gulp of air. Fuck, here goes nothing. He reached his free hand, (thankfully you only restricted his left), and pulled out a couple sheets. He laid them beside his hip for later. He slowly slipped his hand under his sweatpants, and began to pump himself.
Denki was scared shitless that you were gonna wake up and freak out. God, he was such a pervert. He focused on your thighs, and how wonderfully they felt clamped around his left leg. Your arm was still on his torso, loosely gripping onto his T-shirt.
He let out a soft sigh at the thought of you gripping his shirt as he kissed you, "a-ah~"
Denki shamefully glanced down at your relaxed face. Oh what he'd do for you to let him cum on your face. He picked up the pace, moving his gaze down to your chest. He let out a soft groan when he saw how hard your nipples were, breasts practically falling out of the tank top. He was getting close. Just a little longer.
"Oh fuck y/n, please," denki whimpered quietly, loving the way you shifted your position slightly, your hand falling down to rest on his stomach. He felt butterflies explode inside him, and he quickly grabbed the tissues and laid them on your arm.
"Hmgh," denki struggled. Your tits.. so close to him.. thighs.. oh fuck! He let spurts of cum land on the tissue, a little missing and landed on your hand.
His chest heaved as he tried to breathe properly again. He carefully folded the tissue and dabbed the drop of semen off your hand. He couldn't see the garbage from here, so he just stuffed it in his bag. He haphazardly put his dick away, and sighed contently. He couldn't believe he just did that. Needless to say, he had a good sleep after that.
You on the other hand, had woken up in the middle of Denki's activity. You weren't totally surprised that he did what he did, but you were surprised that he moaned your name, (and the fact that he basically jizzed on your hand). You couldn't help the heat that beat through your body, making you gently grind Kami's leg.
No, you thought. You aren't gonna do what Buzzy just did.
You had a bit of a restless sleep, waking up about every 30 minutes. When you finally did fully wake up, you realized that you were basically on top of Kaminari. Your left leg sprawled over his pelvis, and your left arm gently holding onto his broad shoulder. Just as you were about to try and get more sleep, you felt Kami stir awake.
"Oh fuck," he whispered groggily, using his left hand to stroke your hair/head.
"Oh hey Denki," Kirishima greeted, giving him a toothy smile.
"Hey," he replied, rubbing his eyes.
"L/n sure looks comfortable," Kiri teased, wiggling his eyebrows.
"I know," Denki groaned, "she was like this all night. Not that I'm complaining or anything."
"All night?" Kiri asked.
"Yeah, I basically couldn't move."
"Well good luck with that," Kirishima grinned, "I'm going to the gym with Bakugo, tell the others?"
Denki nodded as his friend left the room. You decided now was the time to 'wake up', and you shifted around your weight, "hmm."
"Morning miss cuddle bug," Kaminari said, grinning stupidly as you looked up at his face.
"Good morning," you mumbled, "sorry about that, I kinda latch on to anything in my sleep."
"Don't worry about it, it was nice," Denki blushed.
You peeled you leg off him, as well as your arm, "I'll be right back. Bathroom."
His eyes trailed your ass as you left the room.
"So Denki," Mina popped up, causing him to yell in surprise, "how was sleeping with y/n~?"
"Erm-" he started.
"I know what you did," Mina said evilly.
"W-what?!" Denki jumped out of the bed. "Please don't tell, I'll do anything—!"
"Denki I was kidding!" Mina interrupted. "I don't even wanna know what you did, you big perv."
He gulped nervously, "I-I'm gonna be right back."
Denki sped out of Sero's room, nearly bumping into you down the hall.
"Whoa, what's the rush?" You asked, now in a hoodie.
"Mina— was—," Denki huffed.
"Teasing? Typical," you rolled your eyes, "anyways, I need to ask you something."
Denki got nervous all over again. Ask him what? Why he jerked off last night? "O-ok, shoot."
"Did you know that you're super comfy? Like actually," you continued.
"Oh r-really?" He replied. What a dumb reply, at least say 'so are you' dunce face...
"Mhm! And something else," you licked your lips. "Can we cuddle again sometime?"
Denki practically choked on his saliva, "y-yes! Of course!"
"Cool," you smiled up at him, continuing your way back to Hanta's room.
Two words: fuck, yeah.

candlelit cabin
Tumblr media
prompt: Pretend boyfriend/girlfriend for family Christmas party. I took this prompt and ran with it. rowaelin 4.5k
“Rowan, please. Hear me out.”
Aelin positions herself in the doorway to their kitchen with a hand to his chest, blocking his way so he’s forced to hear her out. The cotton of his worn t-shirt is soft against her fingertips and she longs to twist her fingers into the fabric and pull him close.
Rowan rolls his eyes but brings his hand up to cover hers against his chest. “Go on.”
She grins. She’s known Rowan for long enough now, lived with him for a few years too, to know that she’s going to get her way.
At first, the shared apartment had been frosty, with them both avoiding the shared spaces when they knew the other was in there. Aelin had moved in with him because she had known him through mutual friends from college, who had verified that he wasn’t a serial killer, and he had a spare room that she needed.
Now, Rowan Whitethorn is quite possibly her favourite person on earth.
“You know Aedion just got engaged.” Aelin presses her other hand to his chest, working the puppy-dog eyes to help her case.
Rowan nods with his eyebrows raised, this isn’t news to him. The announcement card has been pinned to their fridge for a few weeks. “Yeah, so?”
“So, my parents are going to be on me all week about when I’m going to settle down, and in my opinion; it’s Christmas. I’m already bummed enough about being single, I don’t need them constantly bringing it up, but anyway, that’s where you come in.”
For as long as she can remember her parents have hosted Christmas in their cabin in the Staghorns. So much so that she can’t think of the holiday period without thinking of the wooden-walled cabin, with it’s rustic fireplaces and grounds full of pine trees.
She can almost smell the mulled wine her mum cooks over the stove, the way her fingers would smell of orange for hours after chopping the fruit for her mum to throw in. Some of her best memories are from the cabin, and Lorcan can tease her all he wants, calling her a spoiled princess, but it’s not like she doesn’t know how lucky she is.
It’s also not like he’s never made use of her generosity when it comes to his anniversaries with Elide.
Rowan winces at her words and her natural response is to grin up at him where he cringes away, already knowing where she’s going. He can almost read her mind at this point.
“Rowan Whitethorn, fake-boyfriend-extraordinaire.”
“Aelin, you know I’d do anything for you,” He starts, and Aelin’s heart takes off at the words.
It’s a well established fact, for everyone apart from him, that she’s in love with her best friend. She’s dealing with it.
Sharing an apartment with him makes it difficult to ignore how attractive she finds him, in his suit dressed for work and in his pyjamas on lazy Sunday nights. He always looks incredible.
In the years she’s known him he’s only gotten better looking. From the lanky teenager she met in her first year of college Rowan has matured from a boy to a man. A man Aelin is very attracted to.
She’s always acknowledged his attractiveness, but since moving into his apartment she has found herself more and more drawn to him. His voice, his smile, the way he makes her a coffee in the morning and leaves sweet treats on the counter for her from the bakery near his office.
But he’s never hinted he wants anything more from her than friends. Again, she’s dealing with it.
Rowan is still speaking, and it drags her out of her daze. “But I seriously doubt your parents would believe that I was your boyfriend that you hadn’t told them about.”
Rowan is wrong. So wrong. Evalin and Rhoe have made an endless number of comments about the two of them over the years. Her parents adore Rowan, almost as much as Aelin herself, and so far Aelin has managed to quell their hopes. Taking Rowan as her fake-boyfriend to the cabin is most definitely a bad idea, only adding fuel to her parents’ fire, but she’s desperate.
“Ro, please.” She’s not above actually begging. She leans further into the hands pressed against his chest and she knows as he bites his lip she’s won.
“Fine,” He sighs. “But I’m not driving.”
“We can do half each?” She offers and he only rolls his eyes again, but he’s smiling and she leans up to press a peck to his cheek.
“Thank you,” She says. “I love you, seriously.”
She doesn’t think she’s imagining the blush on his cheeks as he grumbles and uses the back of his hand to wipe her kiss off.
--
“Rowan, take the bed.”
“Aelin, I’m not kicking you out of your own bed in your own house.”
She sighs. They’re at a stalemate.
They’re standing on opposite sides of the bed, both dressed for bed, and she’s ignoring how good he looks. He’s wearing a pair of soft-looking green flannel pyjama pants and a grey t-shirt. Simple, but it’s really working for him.
“It’s fine, I’ll be fine on the floor. It’s carpet.”
Rowan looks anguished. “No. I don’t see why I can’t take the spare room like I do every time I come here.”
“My parents aren’t stupid. Every time you’ve come here before we’ve just been friends. We need them to believe this.”
She gestures between the two of them. Her parents had greeted them upon their arrival at the cabin. Aelin had managed to persuade Rowan to drive the whole way, she knew she would, and her parents had been waiting on the doorstep when Rowan pulled the car up outside the cabin.
They had been wearing matching expressions of glee, and Aelin saw Rowan visibly steel himself before stepping out of the car.
The introduction hadn’t been a big deal, her parents have met Rowan a number of times before, but never as Aelin’s boyfriend. Aelin thinks it went pretty well and that her parents likely don’t doubt their story. She’s again ignoring why that could be.
Rowan crosses his arms across his broad chest and Aelin forces herself to concentrate.
“They could just think I’m being polite,” He tries to argue and Aelin shoots him an unimpressed look.
“Here’s a radical idea,” She says. “Why don’t we just share. The bed is easily big enough for the two of us, we’ve shared a bed before.”
Rowan scoffs. “Yeah, when we were both blackout drunk. Do you even remember that night?”
Yes. In great detail. “No, but it will be fine.”
Rowan releases his arms from their place across his chest and Aelin knows she’s won. “Okay.”
Aelin fights her smile.
“I can still take the floor.”
Aelin sighs and pulls her side of the duvet back, “Just get in the bed.”
--
It is not fine.
Aelin thinks it’s probably been about half an hour since she got into the bed and she is still staring at the ceiling, wide awake. Rowan’s breathing has been quiet and even for a while, he’s probably fast asleep.
He’s so close, she can feel his warmth under the covers, but they aren’t touching. It would be so easy to reach her hand across the mattress and trail her fingertips up his arm until her hand was at his shoulder. It would be so easy to roll onto her side, throw her leg over his and rest her head on his chest.
It would be so easy to kiss him.
She sighs, frustrated again and feels the mattress shift at her side.
“Why aren’t you asleep?” Rowan’s on his side now, facing her in the bed, but his eyes are still shut.
Aelin rolls herself onto her side to face him, she allows herself to catalogue his whole face in the small beam of moonlight slipping in through the curtain. The silver of his eyebrows to the pink of his lips. Even in the darkness she can see the long sweep of his eyelashes and the slight dusting of stubble across his jaw.
She’s so fucking in love with him.
“Why aren’t you asleep?” She retorts.
“I can hear you thinking from here.”
Aelin laughs and Rowan’s eyes finally flash open, still so brightly green even in the dark. He grins back at her and she loses herself in the smile a little bit.
“I’m not thinking about anything,” She says automatically and Rowan just nestles himself deeper into the pillow and waits. She melts at the sight. The vision of him tucked up in bed opposite her looking so relaxed is almost too much. “Okay, maybe I’m just thinking about how to sell this.”
“This?”
“Me and you, you know, deeply in love.”
Rowan huffs a laugh, deliciously deep and sleepy. “I don’t think we’ll have to do that much, what’s the difference between us and a couple anyway?”
Aelin thinks her heart stops beating. She clears her throat to restart it. “What do you mean?”
She hears the rustle of the duvet as he shrugs. “How does any couple differ from friends? Apart from people who are big on PDA, it shouldn’t be very different.”
“I don’t think you have to be big on PDA to act like a couple. Most couples, you know, hug, kiss, do couple-y stuff that’s different from us.”
“Right.” Rowan’s voice is soft in the darkness, and she wishes she could see more of his expression.
“You probably will have to kiss me at some point this week.”
Aelin didn’t mean to say that, definitely not, but it’s true. Her parents would think it was at least slightly unusual if Aelin never shared even a peck with her supposed boyfriend over Christmas.
She hopes it’s dark enough that Rowan can’t see the fire in her cheeks.
“Oh.”
His response really doesn’t give her a lot to go off.
“You don’t have to,” She starts. “We could probably get away with it, I’d just tell them-”
“Aelin.”
Aelin stops speaking. There’s something in his voice that halts her breath in her throat.
“We should have practiced this,” He says. “We should have discussed this.”
Aelin frowns, somewhat defensive. “I thought you would have known, I mean, you’re coming here to pretend to be my boyfriend.”
Rowan just breathes out a breath she thinks could be a laugh. “I know, I did know that. Now I’m just shitting myself at the thought of kissing you in front of your dad.”
Aelin laughs now, too loudly for the quiet of the night.
“You can kiss me now if you want to get it out of the way, that way when you have to do it in front of my dad it will be no big deal.”
She’s joking. Or at least she hopes he thinks she is.
Rowan is silent for a beat too long.
“Really?” He asks.
Aelin tries to sound nonchalant. “Yeah, you’ll have to get ready to kiss me at some point. Unless I’m too hideous to even consider.”
“Aelin,” Rowan sounds pained. “You’re not hideous.”
“I know, I was joking.” She smiles hoping he can at least see that. “About that anyway.”
“Right. You don’t mind if I kiss you now? For practice.”
“Not at all. Kiss away, Buzzard.”
If she makes enough jokes she can pretend her heart isn’t pounding in her chest as Rowan shifts closer.
“Okay,” He says and Aelin’s entire body sets alight.
He reaches out a hand to cup her cheek and Aelin wants to lean into his touch forever. She needs to remember every moment of this.
She wriggles closer to him, very much aware of the fact that they’re lying in bed together and he’s about to kiss her.
“You’re absolutely sure about this?” He’s so close to her now that his breath washes across her face as he speaks.
She wants him to pause, to hold on to let her catalogue every single moment of this but she nods, unable to find the words past the catch in her throat.
“Okay,” She catches him whisper under his breath, mostly to himself, as she allows her eyes to flutter shut.
Aelin holds herself almost painfully still as he presses his lips to hers in a feather-light touch. His lips are warm and soft against her own.
He pulls back far too soon, only a millisecond later, but he doesn’t remove his hand from her cheek as she opens her eyes.
She can’t find a single word to say, she never wants to leave this moment. Here in this dark room in the silence she wants to kiss him forever.
Rowan is watching her silently, his eyes flicking up and down her face, from her eyes to her lips and back again.
“Hi,” She whispers and he smiles.
“Hi.”
His fingers flex on her cheek and she allows herself to bring a palm up to his shoulder. His eyes flutter shut for a moment.
“Aelin,” He says, his voice hoarse.
His eyes snap open, watching her, and he reads something on her face that has him drawing her face back to his.
This kiss is different from the first.
The first was tentative and unsure. Testing the waters.
This kiss is tender and deep. Rowan takes his time with her, starting with a gentle press of his lips against her own before pressing harder against her. His hand shifts down from her face as he kisses her to wrap around her waist and tug her tighter to him.
Aelin allows the hand on his shoulder to slip up and to slide through the silver strands of his hair.
Rowan gasps at the touch and she slips her tongue into his mouth.
He tastes of mint and Aelin wants more. She presses further into him, her breaths coming fast in gasps every time their lips part and return to each other. Rowan rolls onto his back and the arm around her waist pulls her with him.
She’s half on top of him now, leaning up on an elbow with a leg thrown over his as she kisses him. His free hand comes up to twist through her hair and hold her face to his as he licks into her mouth. The sensation has her toes curling and she presses her hips into his side slightly.
He lets out a groan and the sound shocks her back to reality.
Aelin pulls back and takes a second to process the way they’re wrapped up in each other. She can’t help the laugh that escapes her as she presses her face into Rowan’s chest hiding her blush. His chest shakes against her and he’s laughing too as he wraps both of his arms around her in a hug. She feels him press a kiss to the top of her head and she allows herself to rest deeper into his chest.
“Let’s get some sleep,” He says into her hair.
--
Somehow she manages to drift off, with her hand stretched across the bed towards him. His fingers in the same place brushing against hers.
Aelin wakes up before him in the morning and untangles herself before he has a chance to wake up and realise the position they’re in again.
--
Aedion and Lysandra arrive in time for dinner and Aelin spends ten minutes in the kitchen with her friend screaming about the ring. She hasn’t seen them since they announced the engagement and she’s happy for the two of them, she really is, and she couldn’t be more excited about the wedding.
Lysandra however, is far more interested in the story of Aelin and Rowan.
“How long has this been going on?” Her friend hisses through a whisper.
“Not long, it started about October.”
They had arranged their story before they had left their apartment. They could keep the bulk of it pretty generalised, spinning a story about how they had both realised their feelings for each other and things had just progressed from friendship, but they had sorted out dates so not to trip up.
Aelin shrugs when Lysandra grins, her eyes full of unadulterated glee.
“And you kept this a secret from me because?” Lysandra demands.
“I don’t know, it’s new. Don’t make a big deal.”
“Don’t make a big deal?” Lysandra scoffs. “This is you and Rowan. I have been waiting for this for years.”
“No you haven’t.” Aelin is definitely blushing.
“I have,” Lysandra nods dramatically. “Aedion too. We’ve discussed it.”
Aelin wants the ground to open up and swallow her. Aelin has been thinking about it for years, but she didn’t realise it had ever crossed anyone else’s mind. She doesn’t dare let herself consider the possibility that it has crossed Rowan’s mind.
“Stop,” is all she manages to say before they’re joined in the kitchen by Aedion and Rowan. Aedion sidles up around Lysandra and presses a kiss to her cheek as he wraps his arms around her waist. Aelin smiles at the display and feels Rowan rest his own hand at her hip.
His hand is so warm and she leans back into his chest as Aedion and Lysandra smile at them. Rowan’s fingers flex on her hip and she looks up to see him smiling down at her.
They haven’t discussed their kiss from last night, nor have they kissed again, but it feels good to have him here like this. It feels like it could be real.
Aelin shakes the thought out of her head as her parents join them in the kitchen.
Aelin’s mum has her hands pressed over her mouth at the sight of the two pairs.
“Ah,” She sighs looking as if she could be about to cry. Aelin watches her dad lift a hand to her shoulder as he smiles at Aelin.
“Look at all of you,” Aelin’s mum says. “Let me get a picture to remember.”
Evalin pulls out her phone and Aelin steps across to settle next to Lysandra and Aedion, still wrapped up in each other. She feels, rather than sees, Rowan follow.
Evalin lifts the phone, but pauses. “Rowan, get closer to Aelin.” She waves her hand in the air, gesturing for him to step further into the frame. He does, but still pauses at her side.
“Rowan, son,” Her dad begins with a grin. “It’s alright, you don’t have to be so proper.”
Aelin looks up to him in time to see him cover his wince with a brittle smile. When his eyes flicker down to her it softens and he slides his arm around her waist. It feels too good pressed into him like this, like he could hold her together, like he could hold her forever.
She lifts her hand to rest it over his own at her side.
The warmth of his hand on her waist has her blood pumping faster, it’s like she’s a teen again. She’s never been so easily flustered by anyone since she was younger. No one has ever made her heart beat like Rowan does, no one has ever electrified her skin at their touch like he does.
Aelin smiles back up at him, a little lost in his gaze.
“Beautiful,” Aelin’s mum cries and the photo is taken.
Aelin shakes herself and ignores her dad’s knowing look. Rowan’s hand is gone from her waist already and she misses it already.
Inviting him here like this was a mistake.
--
Later she spies her mum’s phone on the side and sneaks onto it to send the photo to herself. Aedion and Lysandra are grinning sweetly at the camera, but the sight of herself and Rowan takes her breath away.
She’s wrapped up in his arms as he looks down at her. The smiles they wear as she looks up at him are a little dreamy, both too lost in each other to realise the photo is being taken. She’d believe it was real.
She wishes it was.
--
They don’t talk about the kiss. And beyond brief kisses to her cheek when presents are exchanged, they don’t kiss again.
Aelin is a little disappointed, and a little silly. Maybe it wasn’t necessary to practice, and she cringes at the memory that she was the one to bring it up to Rowan. He hasn’t acted any different with her though after the kiss, he still smiles softly at her when she enters the room and they’ve managed to sleep next to each other in the bed for the rest of the week without problem.
Unless you count waking up tangled around each other a problem. Aelin does.
It’s getting harder and harder to ignore what she feels for Rowan with every morning she wakes up with his arms around her. He’s always quick to roll away from her when he wakes up and realises, she’s trying not to let it bother her.
She doesn’t know how she’s going to go back to sleeping in separate rooms in their apartment. How she’s going to bear saying goodnight to him and closing her door every night.
Their bags are packed by the door, ready to leave and Rowan is defrosting the car, getting it ready to go, when her mum corners her.
“It has been wonderful to see you, Fireheart.”
“Thanks, mum,” Aelin allows herself to be wrapped up in a hug and she squeezes her mum tightly. “It’s always nice to see you and dad.”
“We’ve loved having you here. And Rowan too.” Her mum looks like she could cry again and Aelin buries her wince. It’s going to break her mum’s heart when she has to deliver the news of her and Rowan’s supposed break up in a few weeks. “I’m so happy the two of you finally figured it out.”
“I- um…” Aelin doesn’t have the words to respond to that. “Yeah, me too.”
If only.
Rowan joins them on the porch now and kisses her mum’s cheek as he bids her his goodbye. He shakes her dad’s hand and the image tears through Aelin’s chest.
She feels like she’s about to cry, at the image of Rowan here like this with her parents, at the idea that they think it’s all real, at the idea of returning to a life where it isn’t.
Her dad presses a kiss to her cheek. “Cheer up, Fireheart. We’ll see you both soon I’m sure.”
She nods as she wraps her arms around him. She’s not sure how they’re going to play the break up now, she’s made such a mistake bringing Rowan here. How they’re going to play exes everytime she sees her parents now is too much of a mess for her to deal with.
“You ready to go?” Rowan asks her, his voice soft and a concerned look in his eye.
Aelin nods, unable to find words, and waves her goodbye to Aedion and Lysandra.
Rowan is driving again, and it means she can look back to the cabin for as long as she can waving to her family. It also means she can spend a while looking away from Rowan, trying to hold in the tears that threaten to fall.
--
They don’t talk for most of the car ride. Rowan shoots her periodic glances, concern written clearly across his face, but he doesn’t speak other than to ask if she needs to stop for a coffee or a bathroom break.
Each time she only shakes her head. She just wants to tuck herself up in bed at their home and wallow.
--
Back at their apartment she runs up the stairs before him, calling something about putting the coffee maker on as he grabs the bags. She knows he’s starting to get anxious with her silence, but she still doesn’t have the words.
She’s fiddling with mugs in their kitchen when he finally corners her, unwilling to let her low mood go unmentioned. Another thing she loves about him.
“Aelin, what’s wrong?” He asks her, his voice so gentle that it only tugs her heart more.
“Nothing, I’ll just miss being at the cabin.”
It’s a weak lie, pathetic really, and Rowan sees right through it. He steps around the island to rest in front of her. He takes a deep breath before speaking, a tell-tale sign he’s about to challenge whatever she’s said.
“You don’t normally feel like this though, what’s different this time?”
Aelin knows he sees the tears in her eyes, and his expression is a mixture of panic and concern. She lets out a wet laugh.
“What’s different?” She asks. “You don’t feel different now, after last week, pretending to be more than friends? You don’t feel different now that we’re back here?”
Rowan glances away from her and she misses the face he pulls at the words. It isn’t long before he looks back to her and steps even closer. He bites his lip, she knows it means he’s nervous.
“No, Aelin.” She shuts her eyes. This is going to hurt. “I don’t feel different. I’m still just as in love with you now as I was before.”
Aelin’s mouth drops open as her stomach drops to the floor.
“You’re in love with me?” She says dumbly.
“Gods, Aelin. I thought that was obvious.” He’s definitely nervous now, and Aelin’s brain rushes to reassure him.
She laughs, this is absurd. “You’re in love with me?”
Rowan takes a step back, his open expression shuttering closed. “Yes. I don’t know what else you want me to say.”
“Rowan,” She breathes and her hand shoots out to stop him moving any further away from her. “Rowan, I love you.”
“What?”
Aelin laughs, a little hysterical now. “We are such idiots.”
She pulls on his hand, pulling him closer to her and sliding her hand up his chest. There’s a hopeful look in his eyes that wasn’t there before as he smiles down at her.
She rests her palm against his cheek as he says, “Say it again.”
She smiles, closing her eyes for a second. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Rowan’s smile has never looked as bright as it does now. She wants to kiss him. He seems to be on the same wavelength and cradles her face between his hands.
“You love me,” He says and leans down to press his lips to hers.
“I do,” She manages before she melts into the kiss.
--
They spend hours in the kitchen, in the living room, in her bedroom professing their love for each other. Aelin thinks this is better than any other present she received this year.
She can’t wait to be back at the cabin with Rowan next year.

The white mask.
gender; not specified
sorta slow burn but theres gonna be a part two im sure of it.
Established relationship (sort of)
You and Grayson’s acquaintanceship went far back, the both of you were around for each others various changes and times in life. However things weren’t always so swell. Grayson had always perceived you to be good, in the way he tries to be, in some way, he idolised you for the warped perception he had of you. He made it routine to drop by to your apartment balcony in some way- you had no clue, regardless he was always there- no matter how spontaneous the trip was.
What you both hadn’t known is that you were both fighting each other for weeks, you as ‘gothams newest anti hero’ and him as ‘ Nightwing’. Both of you hadn’t known each others true identities.
You were only known as ‘ The white mask’ to Grayson, and he was only known as ‘ Boy blue’ to you. All this had occurred whilst in reality, you were both more than acquainted already.
———————————————————————————————————
“ Hey- you home?” Grayson asked whilst he straightened up his black sweater and jeans, doing the best he could in order not to look suspicious.
“ Well- look who’s stumbled onto my doorstep again” You greeted, hair tied into a low bun with your glasses perched onto your nose as you did. Whilst Grayson was aware of how late it was, he hadn’t been expected to bestow his eyes upon a tight black vest and red plaid pyjama pants.
Now coughing and refocusing his attention back to you, he then realised that you had a new silver ball in a part of your ear cartilage. With furrowed brows he began to scan you again, now trying to see if he could find any other new piercings.
“ Eyes up here Grayson- you looking at my helix?” You asked with a smirk, now closing your balcony door so that no heating could escape the living room.
“ Yeah- when’d you get it? I like it” He complimented, now confidently turning your head with your chin in order to analyse it.
“ I got it yesterday” You announced, now moving Grayson’s hand in order to prevent him getting bacteria into it- you noticing the bruising on his knuckles in the process.
“ Dick Graysonn” You elongated as if he was guilty of something. Slightly anxious, he answered.
“ What’s wrong?” He asked as he looked down at your hands checking out his.
“ What on earth did you do to your hands? Beat up a wall or some shit?” You laughed, now releasing the larger pair of hands from your grasp; Noticing the slightly panicked face of the man in front of you.
“ Nothing- Just got into it a little on the way here” Grayson announced, now shoving his hands into his back pockets with a slight pout.
“ Wow- how strong, came here to rescue me from my shitty lanlord?” You spoke with a sarcastic tone, your eyes almost piercing into Graysons.
“ Why of course- how did you know?” He spoke with a mirroring tone, his face then wearing a less happier tone as he checked his phone, you picking up on it.
“ Hey- you alright? You seem off- almost dishevelled” You wondered truthfully, frowning at Grayson’s lack of eye contact initiation.
“ Whatever you do- Don’t become acquainted with anybody with a white mask- I know they’re only going after people who’ve wronged others- but we don’t know when those motives will change okay?”
You deadpanned in realisation. He was talking about you. The only bright side was that he had no clue that it was you. Only information about you that was so important he had to run off so soon.
“ Grayson do me a favour” You spoke in a slightly serious tone, unwanting to attract suspicion.
Your tone perked Grayson’s attention just enough for your eye contact to freeze him in his place.
“ Stay out of those kind of affairs. It’ll do you good to not get caught in the crossfire- you understand?”
Your words caused him to stiffen more, he doesn’t want you getting hurt.
“ I promise you alright- be safe and see you tomorrow” He finalised before kissing your cheek and ushering you back into your house.
Fuck knows how you were going to wriggle out of this one.
——————————————————————————————————-
Around a week later, you’d found yourself in a heated fight against the boy in blue, which consisted of you both getting good ass hits on one another.
You thought you hand enough skill to shoot him quickly and return back to your apartment before Grayson had decided to pop over, however after wasting all of your bullets on shots that never connected; you could only hope that you’d get to paralyse boy blue.
Just like you, Grayson had wanted to find himself on your balcony sooner or later, only hoping that you don’t believe his lateness is his attempt at showing disinterest.
Seeing as though Nightwing believed that you still had your bullets, he’d decided to hide behind one of the large air ventilations on top on the rooftop you were both on.
“ Come out boy blue- you fucking pussy” You insulted, feeling slightly exposed at the fact he could be anywhere.
“ My name” He spoke as he kicked one of your two guns out of your hand.
“ Is Nightwing” He finalised before he attempted to kick you in the solar plexus- you luckily sliding under his leg and gun-butting him with your other empty pistol- certainly leaving a cut on his cheek.
Even with that, his cascade of kicks, throws and punches never failed in tempo, even whilst you parried most- there was no telling if you’d make this without any noticeable injuries.
After trying to throw you into the back of a ventilation system, he only sprung your momentum; You now sprinting over to him and kicking him into the lower abdomen, consequently faltering his stance.
In almost milliseconds after, you had him in a sleep-impending head lock, now wrapping your legs around his torso agonisingly tight. You did so in full belief that he’d drop to his knees finally submitting, however he only dropped to his knees so that he could grab one of his electric batons- now aiming it into your back. The shock caused you to gasp and drop onto your back, now attempting to crawl to the edge of the building whilst Nightwing remained regathering himself.
“ You aren’t running away that quickly” He spoke in breaths, now beginning to walk over to you thinking that the height would be too much to drop from.
He was wrong.
Before Nightwing had the opportunity to rip the white mask off of you, you kicked him into the nose perfectly timed with him leaning down to unmask you.
“ No-No” He almost pleaded before you back-rolled off of the building, now falling legs first before falling on-top of a vintage red BMW- the glass cracking and top denting with the force.
Nighwing peered over the edge in utter disbelief; what was so important about your identity that you’d go as far as to kill yourself? Did he perhaps know you? Where you already presumed dead like Jason before his rise as Red Hood?
All those questions and thoughts were disrupted when he checked the time. 23:25. He would’ve been at your doorstep around twenty minutes ago if it hadn’t been for this shit.
Rushingly, he ran and jumped across rooftops in order to return to his own place before going to yours; only praying you’d still be up.
———————————————————————————————————
You were actually groaning in pain and rolling yourself off the car just a few feet down. Whilst the car wasn’t the most efficient cushion of your fall, it was better than falling onto the cold Gotham concrete, which would’ve been painted red with your blood.
You surprisingly prepared for this moment, keeping your suit padded with enough material to not break your ribs when falling off of a building.
___________________________________
Luckily, you found yourself at your apartment in no time, most probably due to your knowing of short cuts and you stealing a motorbike.
In the time you no longer had to worry about Nightwing on your tail, you managed to shower and ice your wounds. Displeased with the aching pain your back wore from both electrocution and the car from earlier.
Your worries were disrupted by a familiar knocking on your balcony door, sighing at the arrival almost.
“ Well hey there Grayson- later than usual” You almost joked, demeanour stiffening when you observed Grayson’s evident frown and shaking hands. For a moment you were consumed with the theory that he knew you were the ‘white mask’ that roamed the streets at night.
“ Tell me about it inside- how do you like your coffee Dick?” You asked comfortingly as you ushered him inside, now analysing the room in order to prevent any evidence of being shown. Seeing as though Dick was a detective, your cautiousness had to be on point.
However he seemed awfully down, like he’d just witnessed his parents die,, again.
“ I take it strong- thanks” He answered after many moments, his voice low as his head rested in his hand whilst he sat on your couch. Now you were lost, you had genuinely no clue as to what may have upset Dick- and this made you worry.
As the coffee brewed in your kitchen, you sat next the brunette, ushering a hand onto his knee.
“ What’s wrong Dick- you don’t seem like yourself tonight- I do somethin’?” You asked, now lifting his head with your hand on his chin; his cheek wearing a small band-aid.
“ You were right about staying away from the white mask”
Thank. God. For a moment you almost thought you were going to be discovered and sent to prison.
“ They died tonight”
You died? where’d that analogy come from? Did he see you throw yourself off that building?
“ Oh Grayson- did you see it?” You asked attentively, your brain both relieved and worried about the position you were in.
“ A-“
He struggled noticeably, a detail you picked up on almost immediately.
“ A friend did” He affirmed after a while, your brows furrowing more at his words.
In order not to seem non-empathetic or suspicious, you made endearing eye contact.
He was hung up on every word, every glance. As much as you were hung up on him; you valued your safety all in all, god knows what could happen to you- and even him if your identity got out.
What you didn’t know is that Grayson felt the same way.
“ I wanted to-help them- maybe try to get them to co operate with my associates you know? Death isn’t justified- especially when they were providing some-what justice” Grayson affirmed.
“ So you thought you could help them? Haven’t they hurt your friend?”
That wasn’t revealed yet.
“ Or at least- I’m assuming” You added on quickly, now pacing to your kitchen counter in order to grab Grayson’s cup of coffee.
“ They’ve hurt me you know that?”
You stiffened. Not once have you recalled seeing- or hurting Grayson whilst in ‘ uniform’.
“ I ran into them- tonight- it was why i was so late” He affirmed from his position on the couch, your lips now agape at the realisation.
Dick Grayson was Boy Blue. Mr Grayson, who steps onto your balcony basically every night was the man you’ve been attempting to kill in attempt to get him off of your case. Awful was an understatement in terms of your feelings.
“ Are you alright?” He finally asked after moments of contemplation, now turning from his position on your sage coloured couch, observing your almost lifeless stance.
“ Grayson” You almost sighed, carefully placing the mug into his bloody-knuckled hands, most presumably from the time you got him to punch a brick wall as you dodged him.
“ I’m sorry man” You breathed once again, body tensing as you braced yourself.
“ Sorry for what? You don’t have anything to be remotely sorry for”. His words were sincere, caring even, only worsening the affects of this entire situation.
“ I am the white mask”.

the normal one {Leo Valdez x Reader}
Words: 14k
Summary: Your sister is the demigod. You’re just the unlucky one who got dragged into her mess.
Genre: angst??
Notes: support my writing or ask me about commissions! - omg happy first day of nano y’all.
---
You never knew your sister was a demigod.
Of course you didn't; it's not the kind of thought that crosses the mind of a logical individual, though it seems obvious now that you're being greeted with the proof.
Emma has never been particularly normal. She's three years older than you, and yet she carries herself like she's been through years upon years of unforgiven trauma, glaring at anyone who dares even speak to her. You used to just describe her as grumpy, not-a-morning-person, just leave her alone and you'll be fine.
Now, you're beginning to think it might not be as simple as all that.
Your day starts off pretty normal; you wake up, greeted by the sunlight streaming through the curtains you once again forgot to close over the previous night. You look down, not surprised to see you're still dressed in a pair of jogging bottoms and a loose white shirt instead of the pyjamas your sister has been trying so desperately to make you wear at night. You got ready, brushing the knots from your hair before marching downstairs.
Your mum is in the kitchen, whistling to herself, frail hands forever trembling around the pot of boiling oatmeal; you and your mum don't really talk that much. She favours Emma over you, and she's never found much point in wasting breath on the child she doesn't necessarily like. She'll smile, feed you, let you have a roof over your head, but neither of you pretend like your relationship with each other is permanent. One day you're going to move out, and your mum is never going to contact you, never going to step foot in your house, never going to give you a house-warming gift.
You're fine with that.
Emma is sat at the kitchen table, her head in her hands. It's not even that weird of a sight, considering you've always known Emma to be into the dramatics. You sit across from her, folding your arms over the table before whispering, rather loudly, "Rough night?"
Her head jerks up, revealing her wild, bloodshot eyes. "What?"
You laugh, grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl in the centre of the table. "You look like shit, Em. Where have you been all night?"
Her jaw twitches, and she doesn't respond, which is a pretty normal reply for her, especially at this time of day.
"Whatever," you mumble. "Can I borrow that fancy deodorant you bought back from that summer camp you go to?" Emma nods. You grin, banishing the conversation all together as you stand and skip upstairs.
So, yeah. The day was starting off pretty normal. Not a single worry in sight. You would go to school, mope around classes for a few hours, come home and stress eat over a pile of unfinished homework that was probably due multiple days ago.
Instead, you have to deal with the boulders being thrown through Emma's bedroom window.
The first one hits just as your grabbing Emma's fancy deodorant from her bottom drawer. There is no warning, no low whoosh sound that would give you a chance to step away and make a run for it - no. Instead, it goes straight to the shattered glass and bloodied arms. Instead, it goes straight to the boulder smashing against your hand, crushing your fingers against the wall.
You are stuck, legs crumbling beneath you. You should be slipping to the floor right now, probably unconscious, maybe dead, but your hand, trapped between the biggest rock known to man and the wall, keeps you upright. Blood leaks from gashes forming on your fingers, dribbling down your wrist, your arm, dripping onto your knees. You stare at the scene in shock for a moment, unable to register what on earth has actually just happened.
And then Emma is screaming your name, thundering up the stairs, and you're crying out, trying to form words but they get lodged in your throat, replaced by the overwhelming pain and realisation that you're going to die, you're going to fucking die on your sisters bedroom floor because there is so much blood, and there is no way in hell you won't be drained before the end of this day, probably within the next ten minutes, probably within-
The door opens. Emma barrels inside, wielding a golden sword that honestly just makes you think of course she has a golden sword.
"You son of a bitch!" she cries out, darting to her bedroom window. She stands upon the sill and waves her arms at the sky. "You got the wrong L/N, you idiot! Get back here and finish me off if you're so tough!"
"Emma," you croak, tears flooding down your cheeks. "Little help here."
"It's the giants." She leaps off the window sill and swivels round, darting to your side. Something has changed in her, something you've never seen before; she seems stronger, her eyes a little brighter yet still eerily dark at the same time.
She crouches beside you and begins manoeuvring your trapped hand back and forth. You hiss, throwing your head back as blood spurts down your arm, staining your shirt. Emma grits her teeth, keeping her eyes peeled on her work. "They've found me," she continues muttering. "We need to get out of here - all of us. You, me, Mum. They know where the house is. How did they find out where the bloody house is?"
"Can you shut the fuck up talking crazy for one second?"
Emma pays you no mind, taking a tiny knife from her back pocket and wriggling it between the wall and the boulder. "I'll have to get in touch with Chiron, tell him I'm bringing a few mortals with me to camp this summer."
You grunt. "I'm not going to some hippy-Christian summer camp with you."
"It's not a hippy-Christian summer camp." Emma swats your head, forcing you to look away from the blood dribbling down your arm. "It's a place that will keep you safe, alright? So don't argue."
"Don't tell me what to - AH!" The boulder falls, crashing to the floor. Tables rattle, things tumble off shelves, and your hand is freed. You pull it to your chest, but Emma doesn't let it go unaided for long - she grabs your wrist and tugs it back, examining the damage; your nerves have clearly been ripped, fingers cold from lack of feeling. Gashes have been made into the back of your hand, fingers torn to shreds.
She shakes her head. "I'll get Will to have a look at this."
"No, you idiot, you'll call 999 before-"
"We have to go now. That giant will be back soon enough, especially once he realises I'm taking you guys with me." Emma doesn't even give you a chance to respond before she's grabbing your good hand and dragging you from her bedroom. You hiss in pain, stumbling behind her, but there's really no point in arguing. When Emma has her mind set on something, she goes for it no matter what objections people put in place. Mum always said she gets that from her dad, but you've never met the man, so you wouldn't know.
Speaking of your dear old mother, the woman doesn't even give you a second glance when Emma drags you into the living room and shoves you onto the sofa next to her; she's frozen in fear, fingers pulled to her lips as she bites on the nails, a habit she's had for as long as you can remember.
She shakes her head, dazed. "He's coming back to me. He's sending signs."
Emma groans. Looking over, you see her with a phone pressed to her ear, big and bulky with an oversized antennae peeking from the top of it. "Mum, that wasn't Dad sending signs. That was a giant trying to kill me."
You blink, certain your blood loss is contributing to this wild conversation somehow. "A giant? Your dad?"
Emma raises a finger, telling you to be quiet. Mum whimpers at the movement and goes back to chewing her nails, gazing steadily out the window. She looks terrified, but her knee is bouncing in that way it always does when she's excited. You've given up trying to understand her. In fact, you've given up trying to understand your entire family.
So you just sit there, trying to fight off the black spots dotting your vision and the blood dribbling through your fingers; you don't know why Emma hasn't called 999 yet, considering you're basically on the verge of unconsciousness, but your throat is too dry to ask. Instead you listen as she says, "Leo! Where are you? Are you close?" and then she sighs in relief, and within three minutes, there's a knock on the door and she's barrelling out of the living room to grab it.
You look up, dazed, when she returns with a small curly haired boy in tow. He's a bit scruffy, you have to admit, but in a cute way, like a bunny with a bit of dirt on its nose.
"Not really the time for guests, is it, Em?" you grumble, before falling face first into the floor.
---
You wake up, and immediately wish you hadn't.
Emma always messes things up - always.
Her life has to be so damn dramatic all the damn time, and you're getting pretty damn sick of being dragged into it. All you want to do is sit in bed with a nice blanket and a cup of tea, maybe practice a bit of witchcraft, maybe sink into the dirt and become one with nature.
You don't want to be hunted down by rabid, murderous giants, that's for sure.
You also don't want to be trapped in a hospital bed at some hippy-Christian camp you don't even know the name of. But that's exactly what has happened.
When you open your eyes, you're greeted by the sight of white, cloth walls and multiple eager faces gazing down at you. Most of them have blonde hair and the brightest eyes you have ever seen, and then there's that curly haired boy, and Emma herself, and there's a guy who is half horse-
"Oh god, this is death. I've died."
"She's awake!" the curly haired boy - Leo, you remember - cries, throwing his hands in the air. "Good job, Apollo kids! Another point for you!"
"Shut up, Leo." One of the many blonde haired kids steps forward and places the back of his hand against your forehead; in any other situation, you might have pulled away and told him to step back, but the feel of his skin against your own is surprisingly soothing. It's almost against your will when you melt into it, eyes gliding shut. Your hit with images of you and Emma as children, running through fields, her punching that guy in the nose because he called you short that one time, and-
He snatches his hand back, startling you back to reality. "The fevers definitely going down," he says, turning to Emma.
"Uh, excuse me," you chirp, raising a timid hand. "She's not my legal guardian, I'll have you know." You glance at Emma. "Where is my legal guardian, by the way?"
Emma rolls her eyes, and that's answer enough.
"Ah. Frollicking in the leaves again?"
Emma hums. "I left her to it; we have bigger things to worry about than her love life."
"That's a bit morbid, Emma," says Leo. "Love is a magnificent thing."
"So is me not dying," you say, before turning back to the blonde haired boy. "Can I leave?"
The boy blinks, staring at you like you have two heads. It almost makes you uncomfortable, but his eyes are so pretty, and the way his palm felt against your forehead-
Leo shoves to the front. "Will here is gay, Y/N. Stop staring."
You look away, flustered. "I wasn't even staring."
"Yeah, you were. I see that look of lust on people all the time - I get it a lot, to tell you the truth."
You look at his curls, the oil on his tattered overalls, the dirt smothering both his cheeks, nose and hands.
"I'm sure you do, big guy. I'm sure you do."
Will sighs, shoving Leo out the way again. "I'm gonna do a final check up before I let you leave; I can't give mortals any nectar or ambrosia, so the healing process might take-"
Awkwardly, Emma coughs. The entire tent goes silent, turning to her with raised brows and narrowed eyes, but all you can focus on is Will's strange choice of vocabulary. Nectar. Ambrosia. Those don't sound like common prescription pain meds.
"Emma..." Will drawls. "What have you-"
"I'll talk to them," Emma mumbles. "Can you guys just give us a minute?"
You grab Will's hand. "Please don't leave me alone with her."
Will gives you a timid smile, squeezing your hand gently before he, Leo and all the other blonde haired strangers exit the tent, leaving just you and Emma to your own devices.
And honestly, Emma's your best friend. She means the world to you. She's the one person in that god forsaken house that actually pays you any attention, and it doesn't even matter that she's the favourite, that Mum basically licks the ground she walks on for a reason you have yet to pinpoint. You love Emma with all your heart, but right now, you would rather be anywhere but in her presence.
You pull the quilt up to your chin and say, "I'm very confused."
Emma pulls a stool over and takes a seat. "I know. I should have explained. I need to explain."
"Yes, you do."
She hollows out her cheeks, which only makes your fear spike - you've never seen Emma act like this. She's usually so brave, bold, confident. She doesn't do a single thing without planning it out perfectly beforehand, and yet here she is, looking completely stumped. You almost feel bad for her until you remember the way she completely ignored your pleas for her to call 999 when you were fairly certain you were bleeding out.
"Well?" you push. "Go on, Em. I'm listening."
Emma sighs, scrubbing a hand down her face. "Do you have any idea where we are right now?"
"Absolutely none. There was a guy with a horse body-"
"That's Chiron. He's a centaur."
You blink. "Okay."
"This place is called Camp Half-Blood; it's where I go to every summer."
 "Well, I assumed."
"It's a camp for Half-Bloods. Demigods. People who are half-god, like. . . like me. Like Leo, and Will, and probably loads of other kids, too."
It's starting to get jumbled now, a string of words that don't form to make a coherent, sensible sentence.
You don't even respond, simply staring at Emma until she is forced to continue.
"It sounds insane, I know, but I'm not lying. I'm a demigod, Y/N, daughter of Ares."
It goes silent, because of course it does. What are you even meant to say to that? The logical part of you says to just call her out on her lies, ask her where the hell you actually are and where Mum is and why she brought you here in the first place. But the other half recognises that Emma being the daughter of a war god kind of makes perfect sense.
In your conflicted state of disbelief, you say neither of those things. Instead, you look at Emma and say, "Mum hooked up with a god?"
Emma breathes a laugh, closing her eyes. "Yes, little one, she did."
"And she couldn't have done the same thing when she was conceiving me?"
Emma winces. "I don't want to talk about Mum conceiving either of us, thank you very much."
You shake your head. "So that's why she's always hated me."
 "Mum doesn't hate you-"
"I'm the repair kid. I'm the one who-"
Leo pops his head in the door. "Did someone say repair kid?"
Emma looks up, giving Leo a tired little wave. "You can come back in now. Y/N's all caught up."
"Oh, happy days!" Leo marches in and reaches for your good hand, giving it a vigorous shake. "Leo Valdez, son of Hephaestus. Nice to properly meet you."
"Y/N L/N, child of - uh - that guy from McDonalds.
Emma stands up quickly, grabbing Leo's shoulders as his eyes narrow. "Alright! Now that we've got the niceties out of the way, I think it's time we let Will back in here so he can do his final check up. Sound good?"
"Sounds fantastic," you mumble, sinking down into the pillows. "Bring the nice looking blonde boy to me now, please."
----
Camp Half-Blood kind of looks like a dream scape. But a really bad one.
 A nightmare-scape.
There's sword fighting, and teeny tiny girls in green dresses that get wildly offended when you call them Tinkerbell. There's people riding around on winged horses like it's no big deal, and you're almost certain it was raining when you left the house earlier, so why is it sunny and warm right now?
Leo is the one who greets you when you're finally allowed to step out of the tent - the infirmary, apparently, run by the kids of Apollo. All of them were really nice. They all had really nice hands.
"You're looking fresh," Leo says, tucking his hands in his pockets as the two of you stroll across camp together. "Will and his siblings really know what they're doing, huh? I had my doubts, with you being a mortal and all. I don't know how often they work on people like you."
You shrug. "It was just a bit of nerve damage in my hand."
"You passed out."
"I blanked. It happens to the best of us."
Leo's lips twitch. It shows you just the briefest hint of dimples, and you hate that it immediately turns your tough-guy demeanour to mush. It seems like you have a soft spot for demigods. You look away quickly, tucking your hands - bandage and all - into your pockets. It's this movement that seems to tilt Leo's attention to the clothes you're wearing, all of which are smothered in your own blood.
Pleasant.
He grimaces, stopping dead in his tracks. You would continue walking, being an independent mortal and all that, but you don't know your way around this place, and you'd rather not accidentally walk into a fighting arena. So, you stop and look back at him. "What's wrong?"
"You need a change of clothes, my friend."
You blink. "No, I don't think-"
"They might be a bit big on you, but I have the perfect pair of overalls you could borrow. Come on. To Bunker 9 we go."
He starts walking away before you even have a chance to protest. It really puts the fear of god - gods? - in you, because at that very moment, a winged horse slams into the floor at your side. You squeal, immediately sprinting after him, and the bastard doesn't even turn back to look at what has just startled you. He merely grins, cocky and annoying, and says, "Yeah, stick with me and that won't happen."
 You grunt, knowing he's right.
The two of you arrive at Bunker 9 in no time. It's like an old bomb shelter, with tin walls and a door that looks like it's about to fall off it's hinges. You make a joke about why Leo can't just fix the hinges, considering he's a machine expert and all that, and Leo rolls his eyes and says, "I'm busy enough as it is."
The room lights up without a switch needing to be flipped, which you think is pretty cool.
"My school used to have lights like that," you point out, gazing up at the ceiling. "They were motion censored."
"Mm. They're handy little things until you haven't moved in fifteen minutes and they switch off whilst you're still standing there. The amount of times I've nearly put a screw through my finger." He shakes his head, tossing aside discarded tools in his search for the overalls he promised you. "Mental."
You pluck at a random copper wire hanging out of a drawer. "So, is this like. . . your dorm room?"
"Hm?" Leo looks at you. "Oh, no. I don't sleep in here - I sleep in the Hephaestus cabin. I'm the head counsellor, so I have to keep an eye on things, you know."
You raise a brow. "Is your bed more comfy in the Hephaestus cabin?"
"That, too." He blushes, lowering his eyes back to his search. "But honestly, my job is pretty important. I've got to keep that place running, keep all my siblings in check."
"I'm not being funny, if Emma tried telling me what to do, I would tell her to piss off."
Leo scoffs. "Yeah, I got that vibe off you."
"So how do you do it?"
Leo pauses, glancing over his shoulder."How do I do what?"
You push yourself up onto the counter, ignoring the saw dust that now litters your hands and the back of your already ruined jeans. "How do you get them to listen to you? You don't look to be much older than I am - surely you have older siblings in that cabin of yours. It can't be easy getting them to fall into line, too."
Slowly, Leo turns. He leans against the chest of drawers he has been digging through, regarding you with a single raised brow. His gaze is hard, but you keep the eye contact, smiling just the tiniest bit.
He doesn't respond with words. Instead, he stretches his hand out, palm towards the ceiling, and uncurls his fingers, revealing a bright orange flame dancing in the centre. It doesn't make you jump as it probably should have; instead, you are mesmerised, caught in the slick movements of the tiny ball of fire.
You slowly reach out. Leo slams his hand closed and pulls back. "You can't touch it."
 "I wasn't going to."
"You were fully going to touch it."
You scowl, folding your arms over your chest. "What was the point in showing me that?"
He turns on his heel, going back to digging through the chest of drawers. "That's why I'm head counsellor - no other child of Hephaestus can do that." He glances at you. "You don't think it's weird?"
"Well, yeah - very weird." You shrug. "But who am I to judge? I can do this thing where I dislocate my shoulder, and that's pretty weird, too."
Leo blinks, mouth opening like you've caught him off guard. He swipes his tongue along his lower lip before he turns away and mumbles, "Yeah. That is pretty weird."
Bunker 9 is doused in silence after that. Leo rummages through his drawers as you inspect every nook and cranny of the place, running your fingers along the tin walls, picking up tools you have never seen before; you can feel Leo watching you from the corner of his eye, probably making sure you're not stealing anything. Honestly, the golden screwdriver set is pretty tempting, but you wouldn't want to risk getting on a demigod's bad side.
Finally, after what feels like far too long, Leo pops his head up, grinning broadly with a set of overalls in his hands. "Found them!" He tosses them at you with no warning; you just barely manage to catch them. "They got shrunk in the wash, so I was gonna rip them up for hand towels in here, but I'm sure they'll be more useful for you."
You pull them into your chest. "They smell like oil."
Leo spreads his oil stained hands. "Yeah, well, that's how life is, love. I'll let you get changed - I promise I won't peak!"
Laughing, he leaves Bunker 9; his footsteps stop there, though, and there's a glimmer of relief when you realise he isn't just walking away and leaving you to your own devices.
You get changed quickly, bundling your blood stained clothes into a ball and shoving them beneath your arm - you don't know where you can possibly wash them, but you refuse to leave this camp in Leo's old overalls. First of all, they're much too big on you, pooling over your feet despite Leo's own small stature. The striped shirt he gave you to put underneath it has oil spots embedded in it, too, which just makes you look like even more of a slump. Nonetheless, you throw open the door to Bunker 9 with your arms outstretched and call out, "How do I look?"
Leo peaks his head around and freezes.
You drop your arms, rolling your eyes. "Don't be so dramatic. This isn't a romance movie."
His nose erupts into flames. He yelps, swatting the fire away before he awkwardly coughs and says, "Good. You look good."
You grin. "Thank you. Do you have any idea where I can put these?" You offer up your pile of clothes. Leo takes them from your hands and tosses them over your shoulder, back into Bunker 9. You frown. "Do you have a washing machine in there?"
"It won't take me long to rig one up. I'll have them washed before you leave, don't worry." He offers his arm, grinning yet again. "Now, how about we go up to the dining pavilion and get some food? I'm starving!"
----
Leo did not know one of his best friends was related to such an attractive individual.
It wasn't really that big of a shock when he walked in and saw you sitting there in the living room, looking dazed and out of it with blood dribbling from some pretty severe cuts in your hand. Emma had rang him and filled him on all the details, so there was no surprise at the scene. And plus, Emma's not exactly ugly. She has that rough look to her, sure, but Leo would probably date her if she asked him. Again, it wasn't much of a surprise when he walked in and saw you there, all pretty with the innocence only a mortal could have.
But then he got a glimpse of your personality.
No. Scratch that. He got an entire bucketload of your personality, and he was still craving more by the end of it.
He tried his hardest to fight off these feelings, because he's felt them before - with almost every person he finds attractive, in fact. He gets it lodged in his head that he can impress them, that this is the one and he can make it work if he just tries hard enough. It's kind of hard not to think that way - hopeful, desperate, almost - when all his friends are hooking up and getting boyfriends and girlfriends, generally just having the time of their damn lives. And Leo is just. . . making machines.
But then the two of you went and had dinner together, and he found himself asking if you wanted to go for a walk along the lake before you would have to go to bed. You had agreed, and the conversation had continued, and Leo has never laughed so much in his entire life.
You tell stories of these little memories you have with Emma, enjoying the embarrassing little details you add in whenever you can. Leo struggles to imagine the daughter of Ares being anything close to the Emma you're describing, but he can tell in the passion of your words you're not telling lies.
"What about you, though?" he asks.
Your hands drop to your side, smile curving. "What about me?"
"Well, you're going on about Emma and all the cool stuff she used to do - what about you, though? What have you been up to?"
It's a pretty simple question in Leo's mind; with his ADHD brain, he is able to come up with a million different answers on the spot.
You, however, look at him with a raised brow. He stares right back.
Finally, you crack and say, "Uh. . . I've been doing some school work, I guess."
Leo blinks. "You go to school?"
"I do indeed. I'm studying psychology, but it's really difficult, so I might drop it."
Leo nods like he understands, even though he doesn't. All he really remembers of his school days is him sitting in the back of the classroom plotting his next escape. "Interesting," he says. "Does Emma go to school?"
"She's doing an apprenticeship at some mechanics place. She dropped out when she turned sixteen."
 "Naughty."
You shrug. "She does what she wants. I would love to drop out, but Mum would flip." Leo glances at you; the mention of your Mum seems to be something a little heavy, as your smile immediately dips, your shoulders slumping. Leo knows he probably shouldn't pry, but he's Leo, so he does anyway.
"Is your mum tough on you?"
"No. She's not tough at all. She's not light, either. She just. . . lives with me, I guess."
"She just lives with you?"
You inhale, looking out over the lake. For a moment, Leo thinks you might start crying, but then he shakes that thought out of his mind, because you don't seem like the type to cry in front of a stranger, and that's really all Leo is, which is why he shouldn't expect you to open up to him right now, not if this is something you don't want to-
"Mum only had me because she wanted to see if she could get over Emma's dad." You wince. "Ares, I guess."
Leo pauses. His fingertips start glowing, a sign of his anger, but he shoves them in his pockets and dispels the flames before you see them. "That's horrible."
You shrug halfheartedly. "It's fine. She was crazy about the guy from what I've heard - it's why Emma's her favourite. She's the only piece of him she has left, really."
 "But that doesn't mean-"
"You don't have to tell me she's a bad mother, Leo. I know. I've known from day one; I've just gotten used to it." You pick up a rock and toss it into the lake. "Honestly, we're better off out of each other's hair anyway; put us in a room together and make us talk, we'll probably burn the house down."
Leo doesn't know how to respond; he's never felt like that. Ever. Even with his dad, there's always been some level of affection there, even though his dad is a Greek god who only pops in when he wants something; Hephaestus has never straight-up ignored him, never made his favouritism clear.
Leo finds he wants to punch something, and not even the steady whisper of the lake can calm him down. He walks a little bit behind you as the silence settles, you picking up random rocks and tossing them into the water, apologising profusely when the eighteen tentacled octopus pokes its head up and yells at you.
Your calmness makes it even worse, though, because that lets Leo know that this treatment is something you've grown used to. You've never known any different.
----
Three days in, and Emma still insists on keeping you at Camp Half-Blood.
"You're not leaving until that giant is dead, and that might take a while."
You drape your arm over your forehead, still sprawled across her bed in the Ares cabin. It's a pretty musty cabin, to be fair, but you won't mention that when all of Emma's siblings are glaring daggers at you. "Do you have any idea how many assessments I'm missing? Mr Wrightchuck is gonna be furious with me, and I do not have the mental energy to deal with his shit right now."
Emma throws a pair of shorts at you. "Shut up and fold those for me."
You grunt, sitting up and getting to work; you've decided to make yourself at least a little bit useful around here. These people were nice enough to offer you accommodation, even though it's clear being around mortals isn't exactly their everyday routine. The amount of times you've hissed in pain because of your hand and been offered a chunk of ambrosia is uncountable.
"So," Emma starts suddenly, taking you by surprise; she hardly ever initiates conversations, preferring to brood in her own head when she can get away with it.
You look at her, sitting cross legged on the floor in front of the bright pink laundry hamper she stole off your Aunt Grace. She's not even looking up, lips pursed, eyebrows raised as if expecting you to fill in the blanks from that single word.
"So, what?" you push. "What did I just say, Emma? I don't have the mental energy-"
"You and Leo have been hanging out an awful lot these past few days."
You pause. That certainly wasn't what you had been expecting to hear.
"Uh. . . I suppose. He's a cool guy. Cool fire, and stuff." You wriggle your fingers, imitating flames, though Emma's sideways glare makes you mumble an apology and drop your hand to your side. "Is there something wrong with Leo and I being pals?"
"Leo's a very. . . hopeful boy," Emma replies. "He tends to get lost in his own fantasies sometimes."
 You blink. "What, like kinks?"
Emma groans, throwing some socks at you. "No, you idiot! When he likes someone, he tends to get a little carried away. It's quite sad to see, actually."
"What does that have to do with me and him being friends?"
Emma glances at you; you recognise that look. It makes your stomach curl, heat rising to your cheeks. You look away, coughing awkwardly into her shirt before you mumble, "No. No, absolutely not. Leo doesn't like me that way."
Emma shrugs, grin spreading across her face. "Maybe, maybe not. I'm just saying, if you don't like him that way, try and break the illusion as soon as possible. It's easier to just rip the bandaid off."
 "You're heartless."
"I'm a daughter of Ares, Y/N. We don't bullshit people. We say it how it is."
You scowl, snatching another set of trousers from her wash pile and getting to work, trying to ignore the thump of your heartbeat, which suddenly seems to have sped up a fair bit.
 ----
You lose track of how long it has been since you last saw your mother.
This happens sometimes, these long stretches of time when neither of you will acknowledge the other person; it's easier that way, just pretending she doesn't exist, just pretending the house is empty besides you.
You've been caught up in camp activities these past few weeks. Your hand is starting to heal, the nerves tingling, which Will says is a good sign. You've been talking to other campers, learning more and more about the world Emma has kept hidden from you for so long, a world that fascinates you, a world you will never want to be properly part of.
Now, however, you see her. Sitting on her own by the lake, knobbly knees pulled into her chest, dazed eyes locked on the swirling water in front of her. The little sea creatures have long since hidden, probably put-off by the presence of a stranger, but your mother doesn't seem to care. She just sits all on her own, long hair billowing out behind her as the moon begins to rise in the distance.
You lean against a tree just a little bit behind her and say, "Are you not cold?"
She doesn't even flinch, like the voice of her child has no effect on her whatsoever. Instead, she digs her fingernails into the dirt and grabs a handful of stones, lobbing them into the lake.
You sigh and crouch down next to her; she smells of sweat and dirt, a sure sign that she hasn't been taking much care of herself these past few weeks. "Let's go back to the Big House, Mum. You're gonna get hypothermia out here."
"He will protect me," she replies. "He's always protecting me."
"You mean Ares? Emma's Dad?"
"He's protected me from day one; he loves Emma and I. He's just busy."
You swallow, staring at the side of her face. "I'm sure he does, Mum. But he's clearly running a little late right now, so he's asked me to come make sure you get wrapped up before the wind eats you alive." You gaze at the trees. "Which I'm pretty sure is a thing that actually happens here."
Finally, your mum gazes at you, lower lip trembling. "I just want him to talk to me."
You freeze; it's most unlike your mother to talk like this, especially to you. She rants and raves about Ares to Emma, but she barely pays you any attention when it comes to things like this. You don't really know how to handle it, whether you should comfort her and tell her Ares loves her - this Greek god, surviving somewhere on Mount Olympus, overlooking the entire world. Yes, of course he still loves her. Of course he does.
But the other half of you just doesn't want to lie. You don't want to get her hopes up any more than they already are, because anyone with a brain will be able to see that Ares has long since forgotten about the mortal woman he apparently fell in love with, and the daughter they created together.
So, you grab your mum's hand and drag her to her feet. She slumps against you like a child having a tantrum, and you have to basically lift her off the floor to get anywhere. Nonetheless, you eventually have her standing, and together, you walk up the hill, back to the main camp.
It's dark, probably past curfew, but campers are still walking about. Mostly the Apollo cabin, never off their feet with the casualties they have to tend to in a day, though there are other campers enjoying a late night cup of hot chocolate by the fire, laughing merrily. They don't notice you walking up the hill, don't notice your mum mumbling to herself, words you can't even grasp being right beside her.
"The Ares cabin," your mum suddenly blurts.
You pause, nearly stumbling over your own two feet as your head whips around to the direction she is now staring, eyes wide.
"Yes, Mum," you grumble. "That is the Ares cabin - now, can we keep moving before my fingers fall off?"
"Is that where you've been sleeping these past few weeks?"
You narrow your eyes. "What? Yes, Mum, it is; Emma lets me sleep with her, now can we please-"
"He isn't your father."
You stop dead in your tracks; oh no. You've heard this line of speech before, and it's never pleasant. Mum gets angry, enraged, when she thinks you're trying to take on the same status as her beloved Emma, daughter of the war god. She likes to keep you in your place, which is a good few tiers below everybody else, apparently.
"I know that," you say quickly. "Emma was just nice enough to lend me her bed so I didn't have to sleep in the Hermes cabin - you know I don't know my way around here, so-"
"He wouldn't like you sleeping amongst his children. He told me."
 "He what now?"
She shakes out of your grip, gritting her teeth. Her eyes are wild, dilated beyond anything you've ever seen, and when she next speaks, the words are a cry. "He told me!" She shakes her head, gripping the strands of hair between trembling fingers. "He's so mad at me, Y/N; he told me it was disrespectful to have a child with another man. He said he would burn you to the ground if you stepped out of line. He said he would kill you, just to teach me a lesson for going behind his back!"
You blink. You're used to this. You're meant to be used to this, but holy mother of god - gods? - you don't know what she's on about. You've never heard her talk like this. You've never heard her speak of your death before, and the words coming from her mouth are so eerie, so fucking terrifying that you stumble back, hands trembling, tears rushing to the surface.
"You crazy bitch."
She laughs, loud and clear so the entire camp's attention turns directly to her. "That's what he said! He called me insane, and then he said he loved me and gave me a child - and that child certainly wasn't you."
 "Mum, what are you-"
"He talks to me sometimes, you know." She nods, hands still buried in her hair, tugging her eyes back so she looks demented. "In my head, he talks. We have little conversations, but he's been so much more talkative since we arrived here, like this place really is my home." She releases her hair, eyes dimming. "But you're not meant to be here; he told me that, too. He said Emma and I were welcome amongst his kind, but not you - not a bastard like you."
You look around; all the demigods are on their feet now, staring at the scene in confusion. It's embarrassing, absolutely mortifying to suddenly be the centre of their attention, especially under such circumstances.
"Okay," you croak out. "Okay, that's fine - I'll go, then. Leave you and Emma here. I don't mind, Mum. You don't have to get angry."
Mum's nostrils flare. "It's not me who's angry - it's him-"
"Well, tell him that he doesn't have to get his godly bollocks in a twist, because I'm leaving." You raise your hands in faux surrender, taking a few tentative steps back. "I'm leaving, and you'll never have to see me again."
The words hurt, but they're the truth - especially now. Mum doesn't respond, merely stares as you take a few more steps backwards, turn on your heel and dart towards the Ares cabin, fighting desperately to push the tears away, because crying is stupid.
This is just your mum being. . . your mum, just as she's always been. Sure, her words tonight were a little harsher than you're used to, but her neglect has given you thick skin, thick enough to take her words on the chin.
You see the Ares cabin, and run right past it towards the lake. You nearly slip in the mud on your way down the hill, catching yourself before finally crumbling to the floor against a tree by the lake side.
You'll take her words on the chin, but you'll cry over them first.
 ----
When Leo hears the news, he's pretty sure his blood turns to fire.
He's half-asleep, but that doesn't stop his understanding of Will's words, his descriptions of the scene he just witnessed at the camp fire.
And the thing is, after hearing all the things your mum has done to you, Leo isn't even surprised to hear it's finally boiled over.
Doesn't make him any less angry.
He storms out of the Hephaestus cabin wearing nothing but his pyjamas. He feels the heat beneath his skin, threatening to break the surface as he forces it down, gritting his teeth. He's half tempted to turn to the Big House to give your mum a piece of his mind, but his main concern at the moment is you, and where you've gone, and where you plan on going, because according to Will, your last words to her were "I'm leaving, and you'll never have to see me again." That's a horrible thought. Leo doesn't want to think about that.
He heads to the lake, because according to Will, that's the direction you were running, and Leo knows how much you like the lake; it calms you down, you said, and he stored that piece of information in his brain for weeks, as if in preparation for this very moment.
He stops at the top of the hill and gazes down, lighting up the darkness with a ball of fire cupped in the palm of his hand. You don't flinch at the sudden intrusion, instead curling into a tighter ball against the roots of a tree, burying your head in your knees. The sight breaks his heart. He swallows, slowly waddling down the hill, careful not to fall in the dirt.
You don't look up when he finally arrives at your side. "Y/N."
"Who told you?"
Leo crouches. "Will. He said you seemed upset."
 "That's literally nobody's business."
Leo sighs, slumping against the tree beside you; his shoulder brushes your own, and for a moment, you stiffen against his side. "You don't have to tell me what happened if you're not cool with that," he says. "I'm not being nosy or anything."
"Yes, you are."
"No, I'm really not. I just wanted to make sure that witch didn't hurt your feelings too bad." He pauses. "What did she actually say?"
Your head snaps up, eyes blood shot, lips dry. "Ah, see! You are just being nosy!"
He swats your arm, scowling. "Be quiet, no I'm not; but how am I meant to help you if I don't even know what happened?"
"I never said I wanted help, Leo. My mum not caring about me isn't something that can just be helped." And you didn't even realise those were the words you were going to say, because they sound so heartbreaking, so self-pitying, even though they're the truth. You've always just brushed your mothers behaviour off as normal, the only hand you've ever been dealt, but phrasing it in that way, claiming she doesn't care . . . something about that makes your heart break.
Your lower lip trembles before you can stop it, fresh tears springing to the surface. You remember holidays, catching Emma wrapping up gifts of her own to give to you, just so you could wake up to something on Christmas morning. You remember making your own Halloween costume because your mother spent all her money on Emma's. You remember thinking it was okay, because it was all you ever knew.
You're older now, though. You can recognise mistreatment when you see it, but it's still a blow to the chest realising that you were on the other end of it, that you're a victim, whether you want to deny it or not.
Leo notices your sudden change of emotions and immediately lurches forward. His fingers are hot, almost scalding when they make contact with your arm, his brown eyes burning holes into your own. His eyebrows are furrowed when he says your name in a whisper, just your name, like nothing else needs to be said.
You close your eyes. "I'm fine."
"I wish you'd stop saying that. It's starting to grate on my skull, and I can't afford that kind of damage."
You let out a breath of a laugh, just because you think it's appropriate; in truth, you find none of this funny. You want to curl up and cry. You want to leave Camp Half-Blood and everything it stands for, start a life away from demigods and Greek gods alike.
 What's stopping you?
Leo's hands heat up on your arm, forcing you to look at him again. He's closer now, head tilted, all amusement flushed from his features, which is a sad enough sight on it's own. It's been two seconds, but you already miss that sparkle in his eyes.
"Hey," he says quietly. "Talk to me."
And you do. You don't know why, but you do. The words pour out like a broken faucet, a complete mess of incoherence's that Leo - and only Leo - would ever be able to understand. He nods along like the words are making sense, like these sentences aren't just complete gibberish.
When you finish explaining everything that happened down at the camp fire, you gasp, starved for air. Leo grabs your hand and tugs you forward, cupping your face in his attempts to calm you down; you didn't realise the tears had started pouring, didn't realise you're breathing heavily, totally lost, unable to catch a breath.
"Calm down," he mumbles. "Y/N, calm down. I'm here. I've got you, pal, I've got you."
You close your eyes, leaning into his palm. He traces his thumbs along your cheeks before slowly, slowly, slowly running his hand over your ear, tucking a strand of hair back. His eyes never leave your face, despite the state you know you are in, how awful you must look.
"I'm sorry," you choke out. "I didn't mean to. . . to get so worked up."
"Don't be stupid," he replies. "Did she really say all that to you?"
"She's not in her right mind out here. She thinks she's one of you guys, that she can be part of the group just because-"
"Because she slept with Ares?"
You laugh, exhausted. "Yes, exactly."
Leo rolls his eyes, finally letting his hands drop back to his sides. "Honestly, everyone and their grandfather has probably slept with Ares. She's nothing special, and she needs to get that through her head." He pauses. The air crackles. "But - uh - you're, you know, special. Very special."
You blink, certain you heard him wrong. The words don't really make sense in this context, so you're trying to disentangle them.
Finally, you crack and say, "What?"
Leo rubs the back of his neck, glancing awkwardly over his shoulder. Over the hill, everything is silent as Half-Bloods sleep, unknowing to the panic attack that has just captured you, unknowing to the magic Leo has just cast to calm you down.
"I said you're special," he mumbles. "In a good way, I mean. Like, a really good way."
 Your heart thunders. "Thank you?"
"You're welcome." He looks at you then, chirping up. "But seriously, don't let her get to you. She's just a love sick psycho who doesn't know when to back down. Clingy ex-girlfriend and all that."
He changes the topic so swiftly it nearly gives you whiplash. You stare at him for another moment, and just when you're about to open your mouth to continue the previous, deserted conversation, Leo stands and reaches his hand out. "Shall we go before Hedge thinks there's some funny business going on?"
You nod dumbly, taking his hand only because you don't know what you want to say in response to what he has just said - he called you special, and he said it like it was just. . . normal, like it was something you could slip in without any further questions being asked.
You try and let the subject drop as Leo leads you back into camp. He walks you to the door of the Ares cabin, and it is there that he turns to you and says, voice low, "You can sleep in my cabin if your mum is in there; Chiron won't mind, and I won't either."
"No, it's okay," you reply. "Mum's staying in the Big House; I'll just slip in next to Emma." You glance at him, his eyes meeting yours because he never looked away. He looks so sweet beneath the lantern light, flames dancing across his skin like they were always meant to be there, like Leo has lived his life in fire and came out smiling every time. "Thank you, Leo; you really didn't have to help me tonight."
He scoffs. "Don't be daft. Next time you have any issues, I want you to run to me instead of the river naiads, you hear?"
You smile and nod. "I hear."
And so, Leo and you bid each other goodnight, and you watch as he walks across camp, past the Hephaestus cabin, right in the direction of Bunker 9. Half of you wants to go after him, question him on his use of the word special earlier on, but you don't. Your limbs are heavy with exhaustion, and so you turn on your heel and head into the Ares cabin, unable to stop the tiny smile that forms on your face.
----
Bunker 9 looks very nice in the morning.
"Oh, the tin is just glistening!"
Leo yelps, dropping a spanner on the ground as he whirls around. His overalls are covered in oil, along with his face, arms, legs, and every other body part that is presented to you on this fine Monday morning. In your hand is a plate of steaming cinnamon buns that Leo's eyes immediately fix upon, his startled expression quickly being replaced by one of pure hunger. You're almost certain you see his mouth salivating.
You tug the plate back, holding one arm out. "Not so fast, Fire Boy."
He frowns. "What did you just call me?"
"No cinnamon buns for you until you tell me how many hours of sleep you got last night."
Leo raises a brow, a tiny smirk making an appearance. "Are you kidding?"
"Nope. I want the details, Valdez, or these cinnamon buns are all mine."
"That's really unfair, and very unnecessary. A body like mine was made to work off two hours sleep."
Your eyes widen. "Two hours? Leo!"
"Can you just hand me my breakfast already?"
You groan, but a promise is a promise. You set the plate down on a nearby toolbox before pushing yourself onto the counter, legs swinging. Leo dives for the plate, nudging your knee with his hip as he grabs the first cinnamon bun he can see and stuffs it in his mouth, nearly swallowing the thing whole.
 "Watch you don't choke."
"Why are you so protective this morning?"
"Two hours sleep, Leo? That's awful."
He shrugs, fingers hovering over the plate as he searches for his next victim. "I'm used to it. I'm not even tired! It was a really refreshing two hours."
 "You get worse, you know."
Leo rolls his eyes, looking up at you. "And how many hours of sleep did you get, Sleeping Beauty?"
"More than two hours."
He clicks his fingers. "I want the details."
You roll your eyes, swatting his hand away. "I had six hours, if you must know. I'm refreshed and ready for my day!"
 "So am I."
 "Liar."
"And what?"
You laugh, and Leo smiles, making the noise louder than it really is.
"But no," he continues. "Don't you go worrying about me, dear. Ol' Leo Valdez can handle himself."
"Ol' Leo Valdez needs to take a nap."
"A nap? Sounds cowardly." He grabs the spanner from the floor, spins it in the air, catches it with an ease that makes your breath catch. "How about I show you the new updates I've made to Festus?"
Festus, Leo's pride and joy, the one thing in the world he will talk about for hours upon hours on end; you've sat there and listened to him every single time, absorbing every word, even if you don't understand it. He talks about circuits and updates and tools you have never heard of, but he says it all with such enthusiasm it's almost impossible not to get involved. And even though you know you should be stubborn, insisting on him getting into bed right this instant, you want to see him in that state again. You always want to see him in that state, eyes glittering with passion, hands moving all over the place, smile brighter than anything.
He doesn't need an answer. You simply smile at him, slightly exasperated, and he says, "Alright!" before spinning on his heel, the very beginning of his lecture.
You listen to him talk like how you would listen to lo-fi music. Your legs swing back and forth, back and forth, a tiny smile gracing your features. Leo shows you different parts, illuminating the inside of Festus's new helmet with fire ignited in his calloused palm. It makes his grin impossibly brighter. It makes his curls that little bit darker. It's him.
Finally, he spins and says, "Cool, right?" and even though you were mildly distracted the entire time, you nod and say, "Very cool. As always."
"What are you doing here so early, anyway?" He strolls over, casually plucking another cinnamon roll off the plate and taking a bite.
"I saw you heading to Bunker 9 last night and just assumed this was where you slept. I thought you said you didn't sleep in here?"
He shrugs. "I sleep in here when I'm stressed; gets me away from the ruckus of everyone else, you know."
You raise a brow. "You were stressed?"
"Of course I was stressed." He looks at you, exasperated. "Do you not remember anything we discussed last night?"
You blink; it's not that you had forgotten - there's no way you'll be forgetting that night any time soon - but you thought for sure Leo had. Yes, he'd been there to help you through it, and he was the reason you went to bed smiling, but you were still a mortal, and your problems surely could never be as big as his. You genuinely sat in front of him and cried about feeling neglected by your mother when his own mother is dead, and his Dad doesn't even talk to him, too busy producing other godly children. But here he is, head tilted and eyes slashed with worry. You almost want to look away, but the colour in them has become so noticeably entrancing these past few weeks that you find it nearly impossible to do so.
"I didn't mean to stress you out," is all you can manage. "I was just ranting."
"You were crying."
"I was - I mean - like - yeah, I guess, but you don't have to stress."
Leo narrows his eyes. "You really are dense, aren't you?"
You open your mouth, ready to chastise him for saying such a thing, but your words are swallowed by the loud clang clang clang of the door opening. Leo stares at you for a second longer before glancing over his shoulder, sharing your shock at the sight of Will popping his head in the door. His lower lip is pulled between his teeth, movements slow and timid.
"Uh, sorry to interrupt," he says. "But we kind of need Y/N up at camp."
Those words are terrifying. They jolt you and Leo into action almost immediately; you slip off the counter, stumbling over a few discarded wrenches and old toolboxes. Leo catches you before you can fall, but neither of you comment on your suddenly linked hands before following Will out the door, curiosity getting the better of you.
You hear the commotion before you see it.
The sound of your mothers shrill voice is all-too familiar, and it echoes now. Bouncing off trees, sinking into the dirt, giving you a blistering headache that immediately makes you want to turn around and pretend you never heard it. But there's a crowd, an ocean of demigods, all with weapons and angry expressions trained on the woman who raised you - the woman who tried raising you - and despite the anger you once felt towards her, you pick up your pace, rush into the scene and say, "Ay! Get that spear out of my face!"
The demigod - you don't even know who she is - stumbles back, gaping at you. You don't give her the time of day, instead pivoting on your heel towards your mother.
There she is, stood in the middle of the clearing with her arms above her head, screaming up at the sky. Blood coats her elbows and knees. Chiron and Emma are beside her, but it seems like both of them have given up trying to make her see sense; they simply stare, Emma with tears in her eyes, Chiron looking like he's on the verge of booting her out of camp right this instant.
Leo stumbles to your side and grabs your arm. "What's wrong with her?"
You touch your mum's arm. "Mum, you're being proper embarrassing right now."
She spins. Her hair is matted, the product of having not been washed in weeks. Her eyes are dark, lips chapped and bitten, utterly destroyed. You've seen her when she's having one of her episodes, but this is worse. This is the worst you've ever seen it. It breaks your heart, even though it shouldn't. It was only last night she was basically calling you worthless, a mistake, the reason her little affair with a Greek god didn't work out.
You swallow. "Mum. . . It's me."
"Emma?"
You bite your lip, trying to ignore how much that hurts. "Uh. . . not quite, but nearly. Emma's over there."
"Don't get me involved in this," Emma spits, roughly swiping a hand across her cheek. "I don't want anything to do with her."
Your heart judders. Your mother's eyes narrow, like she's taking a little longer to process her first childs words. You decide to step in before she has a chance to.
"No, Mum, I'm not Emma, I'm Y/N. I'm here to - uh - take you home."
As soon as you say it, you want to curl in on yourself. It's a truth you've been trying to avoid these past few weeks, the idea of finally breaking away from camp and heading back to your shitty apartment with your shitty mother to live a shitty life of online classes and pretending everything is normal and okay. Behind you, Leo mumbles, "Sorry, what was that?" which hurts your heart even more.  "Yeah," you continue, taking another timid step towards her. A branch cracks beneath your foot, and your mother flinches, looks up into the sky like the sound of a god appearing will be nothing more than a simple crack.
"Yeah, Mum, we're gonna go home, and you're gonna get some rest, okay? You look exhausted."
 "Exhausted," she mumbles. "Home."
"Home, yeah. Remember home? We liked it there. Things were normal there."
 Mum's nostrils flare. "Normal-"
"But our house is also where Ares thinks we are right now!" you barrel on. "He's got our address in his little address book - he doesn't actually know we're at Camp Half-Blood right now."
Her shoulders deflate, eyes brightening. "Oh. You're right. He's probably visited so many times and we haven't even been there! He's going to be so angry!"
"So, so angry." You wrap your arm around her shoulder, gently drawing her away from the crowd of angry demigods, of sobbing sisters and confused centaurs. You meet Leo's eyes only once, and it's enough to shatter your being, enough for the burning of tears to erupt through your senses. You want to turn and run to him, tell him you're sorry, promise to never leave him, but the feelings are so extraordinary and so weird, unfamiliar, that you can't.
You turn your gaze to the floor and guide your mother through the crowd towards the Big House, uttering words about home and comfort, and going back to a life you want to abandon for good. You pretend it's all okay, because that's all you've ever known.
----
Leo finds you that same night.
You left your mother in Chiron's care. She fell asleep immediately, and you were free to do what you wanted after that, but the thought of parading through Camp Half-Blood after being in the centre of such a weird scene made your stomach curl, so you stayed by her side until you were positive most of the campers were in bed, sleeping.
Except Leo, of course.
He sits down in the grass, shoulder brushing yours. You don't look over; you know it's him just from the scent of oil, and the way he cracks his knuckles, and the way he awkwardly coughs into the darkness. These are all little things of him you have memorised. Each one makes your heart ache.
Finally, after what feels like forever, he speaks. "You don't have to do all that, you know."
"Do what?"
"Stick up for her. Make her comfortable.
" You shrug. "I know I don't."
"So why do you do it?"
"Because she's my mum."
"She's barely your mum. She doesn't even do the bare minimum for you."
True. Painfully, awkwardly true.
You shrug again. Leo sighs, tilting his head back. When you glance over, you see him gazing up at the stars, jaw clenched in a way that throws off the soft features of his face you have grown so used to seeing. You don't like it.
You reach over and poke his cheek in an attempt to make him loosen up. He closes his eyes. "I don't get it."
"What?"
"Why you have to be the one taking care of her when she's never taken care of you."
You swallow thickly. "I'm not. . . I'm not taking care of her. I'm just-"
"Then what was that back there?"
"That was me trying to make sure my mum didn't get a spear shoved down her throat. It's basic human decency, Leo."
He purses his lips, like this is something he has never heard of.
You sigh, slumping back against a tree. "I don't hate my mum, you know; she's done some fucked up stuff to me, but I don't hate her."
Leo stares at you. His eyes are lazors, flames, beams pouring into the side of your head, and you want to look at him, but you think it would be a very bad idea right now.
Neither of you say anything for what feels like forever, which is a big deal when sitting with someone like Leo Valdez. The only noise filling in the silence is the steady drip of rain drops rolling down the leaves, bouncing against the lakes surface. A few ocean creatures peak their heads up, examine the scene, duck back beneath the water.
And then, "Are you actually leaving?"
You bite back a sob. "You didn't expect me to stay here forever, did you?"
 Leo doesn't respond.
"She's not well here," you continue, tilting your head back. The moon waves at you. The stars smile. "She was bad at home, but being here - around this kind of thing - it's going to drive her insane."
"She's a grown woman."
"Ares messed her up." It's the first time you've said it out loud, the truth. Your mother was okay before she met that man. You've heard stories from your grandparents, your aunts and uncles, of the days when your mum was winning medals for her skills in ballet, the days she was getting awards for her academic success, the days where she played mediator in a house full of people who could never see eye-to-eye on anything. You listened to them with only half-interest, because you never fully believed them. You had lived with the crazy side of her for too long by that point.
But it's true. Ares waltzed into her life, promised her the world, gave her this child with skills beyond human comprehension, gave her a taste of real love for the first time in her life - and then he left.
"Why do gods think they can just get away with that?" you find yourself asking before you can stop. "Mess with people's lives like that. Why do they think that's okay?"
Leo sighs. "They run the world. They can do whatever they want."
"That seems really unfair."
"Yeah, well, it's also unfair that you have to give up your own happiness for your mum."
You close your eyes; there it is again, the topic breached. Leo doesn't understand that this is all you've ever known - caring for her, making sure she's okay, being ignored and neglected because you're not the gods child. He doesn't understand that this has been your life from day one. You were never given a chance to mind it. You were never given a chance to know anything else.
"You know, I think this place could really benefit with someone like you."
You look at him. "You're just saying that."
He shrugs, picking up a pebble and lobbing it at the lake. Always keeping his hands moving, never being still. "Maybe. Maybe I'm just a little desperate for you to stay." He looks at you. "Is that weird?"
You swallow, unable to respond, because you want to tell him no, no of course it's not weird, please keep talking and I'll stay, I'll stay here with you, I'll never leave, I never wanted to leave in the first place.
Leo looks down at his hands, fingers fiddling with the threads dangling from his overalls. "Sorry. I - I didn't mean to - like - put you on the spot or anything. I just care about you. A lot. And I hate seeing you upset. It bothers me."
The way it says it, words spoken through gritted teeth, makes your heart stutter. Oddly, it reminds you of those days spent laughing in Bunker 9, calling him stupid as he tried so hard to keep you amused, like he wanted to keep your attention as firm as possible so you wouldn't get up and leave. For once in your life, someone wants you to stay.
And it's sad - heartbreaking, even - that you have been cursed with these circumstances, that the mere notion of staying at Camp Half-Blood is so beyond reality; you're no demigod. Even if your mother were to head home on her own, do you a favour for once, the chances of Chiron being allowed to let you stay are incredibly, incredibly slim. You won't entertain the idea. You won't get your hopes up like that. You won't play to your own feelings, because that has never done anything for you, nothing but leave you in a state of despair.
And so, you keep quiet, staring out over the lake with Leo by your side, his hands working, his mind probably racing, your heart a steady thump in the distance.
---
The next day, you are ready to leave.
You packed all your things the night before. You said all your goodbyes the night before. You and Emma got into a brutal argument the night before, and now you're stood before her, trembling from head to toe as you patiently wait for Chiron to lead your mother to Thalia's pine tree so the both of you can finally be let go.
Emma stares at you. She's been doing that since last night, her hands balled into fists, jaw strong, so she looks a little bit like her father; you can say that now. You hate him. You think you'd punch him in the face if you ever saw him.
"I can't believe you're actually doing this for her."
"I never understood why you hate her so much - you're the one she actually cares about."
Emma grits her teeth, looking to the ground in that way she so often does when she's trying not to punch you square in the face. "That's not the point."
"You don't even deny it any more," you scoff. "You've just come to terms with the fact that she basically worships the ground you walk on. How about you start understanding how lucky you are rather than giving me grief for taking care of her?"
"Taking care of her?" Emma bursts. "She's your mother! She should be taking care of you!"
"Right, but that's not the way things have turned out, so we might as well cut the shit now before-"
"Leo spoke to me, you know." You freeze. Your mouth stays open, eyes widening; Leo is the absolute last thing you want to talk about right now, not after last night, not after hearing the hint of heartbreak in his voice when he realised it was too late, you were too far gone, there was no keeping you.
Emma nods, even though you haven't said anything, even though you can do nothing but stare at her in complete shock and bewilderment. "Yeah, Leo Valdez, the boy you're head over heels in love with."
You splutter. "What?"
"Oh, don't play dumb! I've seen the way you are with each other. I've seen the way you look at him. I've seen the way he looks at you, and for fuck sake Y/N, you shouldn't have to give all that up for someone like her!"
"That person you're on about is our mother!"
"And what? That means you have to put your entire life on hold for her?" Emma drops her sword in a move close to desperation, startling you when she barrels forward and grabs your shoulders. She holds you at arms length, eyes like fire. "You're my only little sibling, Y/N; it's my job more than anything else to look after you, and I'm not going to sit back and let your selflessness ruin your whole life."
You blink, and only then do the tears make an appearance. You think of Leo, even though you hate it, even though you've already said your goodbyes to him and you should just leave it at that. He hugged you, and you hugged him, and you apologised and he told you there was nothing to be sorry for - it was the perfect potential ending, but you don't want it to be over.
Emma is right; you're jeopardising your own happiness for this woman.
Emma stares at you, the tears leaking from your eyes. Her own lower lip trembles, but she's Emma, so she won't start crying. Not properly.
You inhale shakily, ducking your head down. "I can't let her go home on her own, Em. She'll never make it. She'll never agree to go if she doesn't have someone with her."
"So I'll go."
 You freeze. "What?"
Emma tilts her head forward, catching your eye. "I said, I'll go. I'll take her home, get her settled, and then I'll get someone to come take care of her - a professional. Someone who should have been there for her a long bloody time ago. You can stay here for a while."
Your heart thunders. You're certain you've heard her wrong, because this isn't right - none of this is right. Emma's the demigod. She should be the one staying here whilst you get shipped off back home with your mother. That's how things have always been, how things were always meant to be. But when you look back at your older sister now, there is no glimmer of amusement in her eyes; she's being serious, more serious than you've ever seen her before.
She squeezes your shoulders, curling her stubby nails into the fabric of your hoodie. "I mean it, Y/N. If you want to stay here-"
"I do," you croak out. "I really, really do."
"For Leo?"
You blink.
Emma grins. "For Leo." She pats your shoulder, nearly knocking you off your feet. "Go, before her and Chiron make an appearance. I think Valdez is-"
But you don't let her finish. You know where Leo is even without her input, and so you throw yourself into her arms, squeal a thank you in her ear before sprinting off down the hill towards Bunker 9.
The gods should be yelling at you right now, casting lightning and rain and every other deadly element down upon you, because this must be so far out of the rule book. This must be going entirely against everything they have ever set up, every rule they have laid out - a mortal in one of their demigod camps? A mortal hanging around their children like their even close to being equal. Complete blasphemy.
But you don't care. Not when you round the corner to see the door to Bunker 9 already wide open, little flashes of Leo Valdez skimming past the entryway.
You pause in the trees, craning your neck to catch a glimpse of what he is doing, and it is only then do you see the spanner smash against one of the windows. The glass doesn't shatter, but it shakes and it makes a loud noise, and it's followed closely by Leo yelling out a curse that would get him blown to smithereens if his father were to hear it.
You sprint towards the door. "Leo?"
He spins around, eyes widening. He grips his hand, blood seeping from one of his fingers, dribbling down his wrist and landing upon his boots. He doesn't seem to care, though, simply staring at you in shock.
And then, "Y/N?"
You throw yourself forward, grabbing his wrist. The blood from his gets caught beneath your fingers, but you don't care. You stare at it, shaking your head, whispering his name over and over, and all he can do is stare at you, dumbfounded, before he exclaims, "Hey, wait!" and stumbles back, yanking his hand from your grip in the process.
"Leo, let me have a look at that-"
"You shouldn't be here right now!"
"Okay, Leo, yes, we'll discuss that later, but please, let me look at your hand. What the hell did you even do?"
You reach for him, but he's like a wild animal, startled and afraid. He stumbles back, nearly tripping over a toolbox discarded on the floor. You notice the mess that wasn't there this morning, the tools laying everywhere, sheets of torn paper thrown left, right and centre, broken glass littering the hard floor.
"Jesus, Leo," you gasp. "What have you been doing in here?"
"Why are you back? Why aren't you away yet?"
You lift your gaze, narrowing your eyes. "If you want me to go, you can just say so." And right now, looking at the scene around you and the state of Leo's hand, and his startled expression, you don't even feel bad that he very well might just ask you to turn and leave. Your mind is preoccupied, wanting nothing more than to grab him and force him to shut up so you can pay some attention to the gaping wound on the tip of his finger. His mouth opens and closes like a fish out of water. He's staring at you, unable to move, small of his back pressed against the workbench. The blood welling in his fingertip looks to only be getting worse.
"Leo," you say softly. "Please, can we talk about this later?"
He doesn't respond, but he doesn't run away when you take a step towards him, either. His eyes never leave your own as you reach for his hand and pull him towards a chair in the corner, slowly pushing him into it. You softly ask him to reach into that magic toolbelt of his to pull out some medical supplies, and he does so with trembling hands, never saying a word, never really needing to.
You get to work in silence, trying to ignore the thumping of your own heart, the tremble of your own hands, the desperate need you have to just apologise over and over and over for scaring him so bad, for startling him to the point where he can't even form a full sentence, to the point where he was willing to run away from you.
You clean the wound and bandage it the best way you can, remembering all those times as a child when you would cut yourself by accident and your mum would be too dazed or too neglectful to take you to the hospital or do anything about it herself.
Leo watches your hands working wonders until it's all finally complete and you step back, admiring your handiwork with a pleased grin on your face. "Not too shabby."
Leo swallows. Finally you take the time to look at him, his pale face and startled eyes; he looks like he's on the verge of tears, which really isn't the reaction you were hoping to receive when you walked back into Bunker 9.
You fold your arms over your chest, nibbling your bottom lip as you say, "I'm staying."
Leo exhales shakily. "I don't get it. Last night you were so adamant-"
"I know. I know I was, but I never wanted to go in the first place."
 "So why-"
"Emma made me realise some things." You push yourself onto the workbench behind you, the very same spot you always found yourself sitting when Leo is working away on one of his projects. You used to sit with your legs pulled beneath you, watching him work in silence.
He stares at you. "I fully prepared myself to never see you again."
You wince. "I'm sorry."
And then he's scrambling out of his chair, stumbling between your legs, grabbing your hands, tugging them into his chest, all in that order. You gasp at the touch, the rough fabric of his plaster rubbing against your wrist, the forever warm touch of his skin so familiar yet you crave it so badly.
He's shaking his head, mumbling "No," on repeat beneath his breath
. "Leo. . ."
"I didn't mean to make you feel bad," he says. "So don't apologise to me again, alright? I don't want it. I don't need it - all that matters now is that you're here, and you - you said you're staying." He looks up, almost timid. "Did I hear that right?"
You nod, dazed; he's not mad. He's happy. He's smiling, and his eyes are doing that thing again where they glint and they crease into crescents, and he looks so cute, so happy, so like the Leo you've come to know and love so deeply. It makes your heart stutter. It makes  this entire thing so, so worth it.
He grins. "Oh gods, Y/N, you scared the shit out of me. I nearly tore this place to the ground-"
"I can see that," you croak.
He winces, glancing awkwardly over his shoulder. "I didn't mean to - It was honestly an accident, but-"
"It's okay, Leo." His head snaps back round.
"It's okay?"
 "It's all okay."
You reach forward, winding your arm around his neck, dragging him closer. His curls flood through your fingers, his eyes fluttering closed for a split second before he opens them again and says, "Can I kiss you?"
You nod, because of course he can. He does just that, pressing his lips to yours delicately, so, so delicately, like he's afraid you'll shatter. His hands are tender on your hips, thumbs rubbing gentle, mindless circles into the fabric of your shirt, and it's all so slow, all so gentle, but your heart is exploding into constellations, sprinkling over your being in a way you have never experienced before.
For someone who is never still, never calm, never quiet, his kisses are like a warm summer afternoon spent wading along a beach. They are aquamarine waters and birds chirping around a morning sunrise. They are everything and nothing and more than enough but never enough all in the same breath.
He pulls away first, uncertain, glancing nervously into your eyes as he slowly releases you. He takes a steady step back, rubbing the back of his neck, and it takes everything in you not to pull him back in.
Instead you laugh, swinging your legs back and forth like a giddy child. "Don't look so sheepish or I'll think you've poisoned me."
"I'm not very good at that," he mumbles. "Machines don't usually need kissed, so I don't tend to do it that often."
"I'd hope not." You grab his hand, pulling him back between your knees. "I'm sorry for scaring you earlier."
He opens his mouth, ready to protest your apologies once again, but you cut him off with five fingertips pressed to his lips. His eyes cross over as he glares at them, making you giggle. "I know you said I shouldn't apologise, but I shouldn't have been so. . . hasty. I shouldn't have lost my temper with you. I should have let you speak-"
"I don't say very interesting things."
"You say the most interesting things." You drop your hand, intertwine your fingers with his. "But I'm staying, Leo. I promise." He exhales shakily, like this is what he has been waiting to hear for a while now; it breaks your heart, rejuvenates you at the same time, and you realise suddenly just how awful it would have been to pack up your stuff and head home, to live a life without Leo Valdez in it.
---
Your mother looks a little better. A little healthier. A little happier.
Emma sits beside her, dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, a denim jacket over the top. She looks happy, too, a little exhausted, but you never expected anything less. She's still smiling, though, and when her face appears in the Iris message, she lets out a happy sigh of relief.
"I thought you two would fuck it up."
"Go to hell, Emma," says Leo.
You chuckle, leaning back in your seat; it's been two weeks since Mum and Emma went back to the flat together, two weeks since you agreed to spend the rest of your summer at Camp Half-Blood, working on a relationship with Leo Valdez. It's been a grand two weeks, yes, but you still have responsibilities back in the real world.
"So, how's it going?" you ask. "Mum, you're still going to therapy, aren't you?"
"Yes," Mum mumbles, sounding more like an anguished teenager than anything else. "I've told you both already, I don't need it - I got over Ares years ago. I have my own family now - he can go to hell."
"Tartarus," Leo corrects.
"Whatever."
You grin. It's been so long - so long - since you've heard your mum mention you in the same context as Emma, including your name in the same sentence as the word family. Leo must notice your sudden shift in mood, as he chuckles, placing a gentle hand on the small of your back. He does that sometimes, letting you know he's there, like you'd ever forget. You reach behind you and tangle your fingers with his, subtly placing your joined hands in your lap.
"A few more weeks," you tell her. "That's all you have to endure, and then they're putting you on that trial, aren't they?"
"Apparently," Mum replies. "I was thinking of coming to visit you."
You and Emma share a look - the last time your mother was at Camp Half-Blood, things didn't exactly go well. The energy of this place drove her insane, reminded her of days with Ares, reminded her she'd been abandoned by the one man she ever loved.
Leo cuts in. "Oh, no! I was hoping Y/N and I could come out there and visit you guys for the week!"
Your head whips round. "You were?"
"Well, yeah." Leo rolls his eyes, faux exasperation. "I did tell you about it. I haven't been back to your house since the giant threw that boulder through your window." He rubs his finger along your scarred, damaged knuckles, forever torn from the boulder that destroyed all your nerve endings. "I think it would be a grand old time, personally."
"I agree," Emma chimes in. "And it would be less stressful for us - we can just wait here for them to arrive, and you still get to see Y/N!"
Mum hums, thoughtful, and for just a second, you're certain she's going to revert back to her old ways. She's going to call you scum, pretend you don't exist, make you feel like shit all over again; judging by the sudden grip Leo has on your hand, he thinks the exact same thing. You thought this was over with. You thought your Mum had gotten better, that she finally realised you are her child, too, and-
"I guess it would be a lot less hassle."
Leo exhales. "Great! It's a date."
"For you two, maybe," Emma grumbles. "Look, we have to leave in two minutes, so this is goodbye."
"Jeez, Em, tell us how you really feel."
"See you in a few weeks, assholes!" And before you or Leo can respond, the Iris message is flickering to a close, leaving you and Leo alone in Bunker 9.
It's silent for a few seconds. Leo grips your hand, running his thumb along your knuckles, and it suddenly feels so, so hard not to cry.
"She's getting so much better," you choke out.
Leo's head snaps round, eyes widening at the crack in your voice. "Hey, no. Don't you start crying on me, okay? This is a good thing! Good!" He cups your face, forcing you to look at him. He has that goofy look, his eyebrows stitched together, his lips pursed; it makes you laugh every time.
You reach up, wrapping your hands around his wrists just to keep the feel of him against you for a little longer. "I'm not going to cry. I'm not a bitch."
"It's all good here, Y/N," he says. "I always told you it's all good here."
And with his hands on your face, his eyes gazing into your own, the sweet weather of Camp Half-Blood flourishing outside, you know he's telling the truth. It's all good.

Hi, I love your writing.
Can I request a sleep headcanon for Volturi guards (We can ignore Smeyer canon!)
P.S. Sorry for my bad english
We can always ignore SMeyer’s nonsensical canon, fanfic is what brings order to what was once chaos. I actually quite enjoyed this one, I’ve never considered it before so it was fun to imagine something entirely new! Don’t worry about your English either chickadee, it’s better than mine and English is my first language hahaha!
Sleepy Guards:
Alec:
·        Okay but lets get one thing straight – the twins have been sleeping beside each other since the day they were born
 ·        They shared a womb, a cradle, a straw mat and blanket
 ·        You really think they don’t still reach for each other in their sleep?
 ·        They have always had separate beds since they joined the Volturi, but separate rooms? It took literal decades for them to get so bored of each other’s differing routines they decided to not sleep in the same room.
 ·        Alec sleeps on his right side, Jane sleeps on her left, and they always, regardless of whether or not they have mates, reach at least one hand out to search subconsciously for the missing twin
 ·        Alec doesn’t get as riled up throughout the day as his sister, he’s pretty laidback and kind of numb to life really so going to sleep for him? Quite easy, has no troubles falling asleep
 ·        Staying asleep however
 ·        It’s very common for Alec to wake up throughout the night, his PTSD is severe and this boy is an insomniac. You’d think centuries of falling asleep in his own bed, in a castle, down the hall from one of the strongest men on earth, would be enough to make you feel safe enough to sleep, right?
 ·        Not when you wake up unable to move because something is pinning you down
 ·        And you have vivid memories of rope pinning you in place to a stake while you burn alive
 ·        Yeah, sleep paralysis and Alec go way back, and he’s not a fan
 ·        He can’t take any medication for it because the venom dissolves it, and go to a therapist? What’s he supposed to tell them?       + Oh hi doc, yeah so I’m centuries old and when I was a human still – yeah I’m a vampire now write that down – people thought I was a witch so burned me and my twin at the stake lol but I swear I’m fine!
 ·        He suffers in silence (poor baby) but he has found one thing that helps a little. Lavender
 ·        A little lavender spray on his pillow and it grants him another hour’s rest or so. Why or how it works he doesn’t know but he’s grateful for it and uses it nightly. Mostly, he wakes early and simply stays awake
 ·        Please just give him hugs and stroke his hair if you sleep beside him till he wakes from his paralysis episodes, someone beside him reassuring him he’s okay really helps
 Demetri:
Tumblr media
·        Some days he just collapses on his bed – his gift requires a lot of mental energy to be expended and it’s hard okay?
 ·        Most days he has an entire routine he goes through before he goes to sleep
 ·        Always has to fluff his pillow before he settles on it
 ·        A sucker for washing his face before bed, even if it doesn’t need washing. He simply finds it soothing, a way of cleansing himself of the day if you will
 ·        Has a single pair of silk pyjamas Felix got him with his initials on – he has never once worn them for fear of wrinkling them       + Most people think he sleeps naked but actually Demetri prefers an oversized t-shirt and some simple shorts, it’s cosy
 ·        Prefers to collect bedsheets over pyjamas. He wants every type under the sun and will not rest until this happens. The guard knows of this obsession of his and tries to buy him something fresh once a year to go towards his collection       + His favourite bed sheets are the Egyptian cotton ones, so soft and smooth against his skin, it’s like a hug from clouds
 ·        Demetri cuddles his pillow (secretly waiting for the day his mate sleeps beside him so he can cuddle them instead)
 ·        Is the type to enjoy a fancy throw blanket at the end of his bed
 ·        Tucks the duvet under his chin when he sleeps so he’s bundled up like a baby
 ·        Despite what people think, he doesn’t let many people actually sleep with him. His bed is a safe space for him. Lovers can come and go but if you get to sleep in the same bed as him and wake up beside him, that is a huge sign Demetri trusts you
 ·        Bought himself a king size bed – only sleeps on the left side
 Felix:
Tumblr media
·        The type to never make his bed. However the sheets land when he gets up in the morning is how they stay till he crawls back into bed
 ·        His bed sheets are always so plain, despite Demetri’s best efforts to buy him some fancy ones
 ·        Sleeps shirtless (because why would you hide those rock solid abs) but has a collection of comfy sweat pants he wears on bottom      + Sweat pants are to him what bed sheets are to Demetri – an obsession
 ·        Has the magical ability to just fall asleep whenever he likes. LITERALLY whenever and wherever he likes
 ·        Needs a solid eight hours or he is a major bitch. You don’t know what sarcasm is if you haven’t met a sleepy Felix       + “Why can we never get missions just next door? In Milan, say.”                     “Why can’t we ever get a mission where we get to leave your whiny ass behind?”
 ·        Can sleep in any position but always somehow ends up on his tummy by the end of the night. He just…splays everywhere. Star-fished face down with his arms tucked under his pillow and face smushed into the fabric
 ·        Such a deep sleeper that you genuinely will need to shake him awake if you need him in the night, however this is not recommended because startling Felix awake has approximately led to three missing arms, two crunched up noses and one spinal displacement
 ·        Isn’t too much of a cuddler so when sleeping beside someone else, more often than not he only has one arm around them. If his mate wants cuddles, they’ll literally just have to sleep on top of him
 ·        Doesn’t tuck his duvet underneath the mattress because he’s so damn tall, his feet have to hang out the duvet, otherwise he can’t stretch out in bed        + Besides, what monster under the bed is more terrifying than the one on it? You think the Boogeyman is gonna mss with Felix’s feet? No sir, he gives him a pedicure and moves the fuck on
 Jane:
Tumblr media
·        Everything we discussed with Alec still stands, she is always reaching out for her twin in the night, but her PTSD manifests quite differently
 ·        Jane has trouble falling asleep and doesn’t end up going to bed until the early hours of the morning. It’s part insomnia, part a genuine fear of falling asleep
 ·        She never knows when the night terrors will strike
 ·        Alec is usually the one who will run to comfort her, it took centuries for her to even consider letting anyone else so much as ask if she’s okay
 ·        One time a lower guard mentioned the screaming from her room one night, she fried him with her gift so bad he shattered into a thousand pieces – they still haven’t found the piece of skin that goes beneath his eye
 ·        Has a very meticulous routine she follows starting with removing the days make up and ending with fluffing up her pillows before she goes to bed. This routine is more for her own sanity than anything else, because then she can say she’s done all she can to try get a good night’s sleep if it fails
 ·        There have been nights that neither twin manages to sleep at all and they simply venture to one another’s room to watch some TV or read together
 ·        Jane has absolutely no need for face creams (she is never going to age or get blemishes after all) but a bit of skincare at night is her new favourite habit. It makes her feel a little more normal
 ·        Demetri converted her to throw blankets, Jane has a selection she cycles between now
 ·        Sometimes she will wrap herself in her blanket and then get under the duvet because she likes being cosy
 ·        Is the type of person who just…doesn’t move? All night? Like seriously this girl doesn’t know the meaning of the word wriggle. The only time she moves is when night terrors make her thrash, and thankfully they’re further apart now than they were before

I walked for miles ‘til I found you
Tumblr media
Title taken from Green Day’s Last Night on Earth.
White rolling expanses dazzled where the light reflected, carpeting the world before me. The crunch underfoot, offering a reassuring sense of purpose. I breathed the cold air in like a refreshing drink, vapour clouding from me on the exhale as I examined some icicles along the edge of a neighbouring building, noting the calm serenity of the heavily subdued landscape. For an hour the snowfall had ceased, only for large flakes to begin falling again, the wind beginning to protest at the buildings in its way, a heavy moan quickly whipping up to a howl that tested the eaves of any structure. I debated on venturing out or retreating back inside - the weather at present not getting any better.
Winter in Riverdale can be amazing sometimes. I stood on the front porch, dressed in a thick woolen jumper, some comfy sweat pants and boots, a steaming mug of hot chocolate in my hands, watching as the neighbourhood children began throwing snowballs, riding sleds and ice skated on the nearby lake. I stood there for a short while, enjoying the peacefulness when I felt a pair of arms encircle my waist.
“Hi sweetheart,” I smiled, my wife nuzzling my neck in response. “Why are you up?”
“Bed felt cold without you in it.” She explained. “Have you been up since dawn again?”
“Someone had to patrol the border, Cher,” I said sipping my cocoa. “What about Arya? She up yet?”
“Yeah, she’s up and I made waffles. So she’s fed, I left her in the lounge with her colouring set.” She told me just as Arya stumbled out the door in her pyjamas and wellington boots on the wrong feet.
“Mommy, Mama can we play outside?” The excitement in her voice, as obvious as the twinkle in her eyes.
“In a little while pumpkin, Mommy and I still need to eat and you and mommy need to get dressed.” I said handing my drink to my robe clad wife and moving to pick up the excited little girl.
“Now, let’s go and get inside before someone throws a snowball at us.” Cheryl said ushering us indoors.
-----
“Can I make a snow angel?” Arya asked as we walked through the park.
“If you want, but stay where we can see you.” I said as she rushed off towards her friends and began making snow angels.
Out of nowhere, two larger boys arrived and began pelting the youngsters with snowballs. I stood up with a growl in my throat and my wife at my side and made my way to my crying daughter and her friends.
“Scarper.” I growled at the two boys, their laughter stopping immediately before they ran off as soon as I spoke. “C’mere pumpkin,” I knelt down and reached towards Arya who quickly ran into my embrace, her friends parents rushing over to check on their own children.
“Hi guys, are they ok?” Cheryl asked our friends as I tried to calm our daughter down. The other parents nodded in reply. “Once they are calm enough, why don’t you bring them over for a sleepover?” She suggested, all the children almost silent, apart from the odd sniffle as they gave practically identical pouts, resulting in everyone agreeing.
---
“Do you remember how we met hun?” I wondered as we lay in bed after putting the children to bed.
“Of course I do,” she smiled, leaning up from her spot against my chest and pressing a kiss to my cheek. “Best day of my life.” I smiled down at her and pressed a kiss to her head while my mind began to wander.
The crunch of fresh snow under my feet was so calming on my frazzled nerves until, what I thought was an angel’s song caught my attention. I stopped, my ears perking up and before I knew it, I was making my way towards the entrancing sound and once I found her, I couldn’t help but stop and stare. She was average height wearing a long winter coat, long red hair contrasting beautifully against the bright white snow, her eyes a deep beautiful brown, a slight twinkle in them as she sang.
Slowly, I ventured closer, almost crawling towards her so as to not spook her and once I was finally spotted, she looked at me in a mix of awe & fear.
“My, you are a beautiful wolf aren’t you?” She smiled moving closer, hand outstretched in precaution.
I responded with a happy bark and wag of my tail, the enthusiastic movement sweeping up snow causing her to giggle. I watched as she laughed, her emotions changing. The curious twinkle in her eye quickly became one of amusement and I swore I saw her eyes change colour, a trait only known in werewolves.
I shook the confusion off as I felt her hand thread through my fur, the sensation soothing me immensely and before I knew it I had shifted back into my human form, dressed in the pair of shorts & sports bra that changed with me when I shifted.
I just knelt there, cold weather not bothering me, her hand paused its movements, fingers gently tangled in my hair, faces inches apart, her breath on my lips.
“Hi,” she whispered. “It’s good to know I’m not the only one here.” The both of us stood up to our full height, the hand in my hair moving to rest against my cheek now.
“Hi,” I rasped, my voice hoarse from lack of use over the last several hours in the woods. “Y/N Y/L/N”
“Cheryl Blossom” She introduced herself.
---
After sitting there for a while getting to know each other, we started to make our way back town. She’d attempted to hand me her coat but I refused, stating that I’d only ruin it, a light layer of dirt still covering my upper body. Chatting the entire way, I had found that she was new to town and had managed to get lost when initially she wanted to just wander around and get to know the area.
Somehow we must have lost track of time as it had suddenly grown dark and we had wandered into the suburbs. Houses decorated in brightly coloured lights, small snowmen and makeshift igloos scattered the lawns as dark grey, almost black clouds floated overhead. The possibility of a snow storm making its presence known.
“This is me,” she smiled coming to a stop and carefully hugged her coat closer to herself, motioning to the house on her left.
“Huh,” I mumbled looking at the modest two storey. “We really did just walk all the way through town. I was meant to show you around.” My voice took on a slight whine as a pout formed on my lips. I looked down at my feet and began digging the toe of my shoe against the ground, eventually looking up when I heard her giggle again before she cupped my jaw, gently lifting my head up.
“Hey, look at me.” She said, running her thumb against my cheekbone as my eyes darted around, hoping to avoid any eye contact. “Y/N, please,” finally I looked at her, my (e/c) locking with her brown ones as she tilted her head to the side. “Why don’t you come over tomorrow and then you can show me around town?”
I stepped closer to her, her hand drifting down my jaw and lingering on my neck, thumb running over my jawline, my own moving to settle on her waist almost subconsciously.
“Cheryl,” a voice rasped causing us to separate quickly. Looking towards the house, a man stood on the porch, screen door held open by his foot. “There you are sweetheart,” he jogged over to us, wrapping an arm around her waist, hand resting on her hip when close enough and placing a quick kiss to her cheek. “Who’s your friend, hun?”
“Archie, this is Y/N Y/L/N.” Cheryl introduced. Waving a hand towards me, she avoided all eye contact with me as he held his free one out for me to shake. “Y/N, this is my fiance, Archie Andrews.” I immediately felt my world come crashing down and put a fake smile on as I shook his hand.

mlqc | sunday morning
Tumblr media
I recently (well~like three months ago) got into this game called Mr Love: Queen’s Choice, and after doing some ‘research’ aka gaming, I felt confident enough to write something. So, here’s a little headcanon about a blissful Sunday morning with the boys~
Warning(s): ever so slightly NSFW (insinuations of a dirty-minded author), profanity/swearwords
Victor
Tumblr media
Victor’s quite the workaholic, as we all know
like this man will be working 60-70 hours a week, often bringing work home with him
you’ll be on the couch in pajamas and acting like a total bum while he’s literally next to you wearing glasses and breezing through 50 reports and documents
you steal his laptop and glasses when he starts criticising your report
“Victor noooooooo~work mode OFF!” as you zoom past him with his prescription glasses (he got them fancy glasses with the blue light filter because he’s A WORKAHOLIC and he’s always staring at a computer)
needless to say, this man doesn’t usually have time to spare
sunday mornings are yours though
Victor doesn’t necessarily take the entire day off, but after a certain dummy’s whining, he has agreed to try and have a lie-in on sundays
he *usually* still wakes up before you, because he functions on like 5 hours of sleep (lemme tell y’all, it’s a curse and a blessing in one)
Vic’s a total tsundere, but these moments definitely show off his #SoftCEO side
his little lovebug is sleeping peacefully, wearing one of his pyjama shirts (I bless you with the headcanon that Victor sleeps in silk pyjama pants sans shirt because he runs HOT)
actually, you’re drooling a little bit but even though Victor’s going to pretend he’s annoyed, he never is
oOOhh, also canon that this man is the big spoon in sleeping positions. he naturally gravitates towards you and holds you tight because he’s NEEDY
sometimes you’ll sleep facing each other. Victor holds you against his chest and just cradles your body in his like his life depends on it
100% will entangle his long ass legs with yours
strokes your hair and presses kisses on the crown of your head to wake you up in a gentle way (despite his demeanour, he’s actually remarkably gentle y’all see why i call him #SoftCEO?)
as you wake up, he’ll mock your bedhead with this incredibly fond look in his eyes baby boy these words don’t match your actions
you guys actually get up rather soon after, cos you are both busy people...
fun times in the bathroom not like tHAT well actually kinda~ but for legal reasons everything you do is PG, please spare author-nim who’s still ~barely~ underage
you take a shower and belt your favourite song that’s playing from the built-in speaker (did Victor get a built-in speaker because you thought it was cool? yep. did you ask? nope. did he do it anyways? yehep.) while he goes through his simple morning routine
you probably have more steps in your skincare routine, but he uses a serum, cleanser, moisturizer and some eye cream on the daily
has given you permission to do his skincare at night whenever you both have time
to reciprocate, he dries your hair after your shower you guys HAVE listened to the Right Beside You ASMR, right? ...it’s on YT for free because we’re poor, i know
also canon, blowing raspberries on Victor’s bare back while he’s brushing his teeth will make him choke on toothpaste. tested and approved by MC
“Dummy. What on earth are you doing?”
he hangs around and waits for you to get ready if he’s already done, you do the same. time is something Victor knows all too well, so the precious time he has, he wants to spend with you.
you guys DON’T shower together in the morning because really you’re not getting cleaner ahhh author-nim should really stop
afterwards, you get dressed in some relatively casual clothes (i’m talking a dress shirt without a tie or a polo shirt because no way that this man owns actual t-shirts) and have a simple breakfast
he cooks, obviously.
always makes a balanced, Chinese breakfast (congee or wonton, noodles, tofu pudding, etc.) because he wants you two to start the day well, even on a slow sunday
also, he travels a lot, so he likes eating Chinese food whenever he’s home
ahh...waking up with Victor just sounds like a dream
Lucien
Tumblr media
i’m a bit biased on this bitch because he was my first favourite in the game so this might get long. might not. just,,,we’ll see
Lucien is a bit like Victor, where he doesn’t sleep much and works a lot
On the other hand, his work is...ehem...shadier, so he usually works in his office when he’s at home
you’ll both have your own space to do whatever you need to do
days off for Lucien are rare. he usually powers through until he drops
for someone who constantly reminds you to take care of yourself, he’s mediocre at doing exactly that
after getting to know him better, which wasn’t an easy feat because damn this man has more layers than an onion he’ll also make you cry more bUUT we’re not ready to unpack that suitcase, you start noticing when he needs a day off. often even before he notices
you lock his office door and force him to take the FULL day off at least
he could technically open his office again, but he loves you and he’ll humour your attempts
Lucien wakes up before you. always. you’ve seen him asleep like 3 times in your entire relationship.
Luci sleeps like 8 hours,,,a week.
he watches you sleep i feel like that makes too much sense for his character. we love a creepy boy. and wholeheartedly feels at rest with your sleeping figure by his side
in his sleep, Lucien lies on his back, holding you by the waist as you sleep on top of him. your leg is often slung around his middle, so you’re enveloping him. he likes the weight of you on top of him; it keeps him grounded and he likes feeling like he’s yours as much as you are his.
on another note, Lucifer—ah whoops—sleeps butt naked. i honestly can’t imagine him wearing clothes in bed. he’s not shy about his body and feels absolutely no need to cover up for his significant other.
you, however, don’t usually sleep naked. well...nowadays you end up sleeping naked more often than not because alright author-nim’s horrible. can’t help it, he’s a fucking scorpio?
because you guys take a day off, Lucien’s content with waiting and watching until you wake up
he feels you stir on his chest and honestly your drowsy eyes make him swoon
“Already awake, my beautiful butterfly?”
his slightly husky morning voice *really* does things to a person tbh
you guys stay in bed for a good half hour after you wake up, just cuddling and talking, also sneaking in a kiss here and there
you have the same habit of tracing each other’s bodies with your fingertips
his fingers flutter over your waist, you trace his chest or hands with your index again, it’s a very grounding experience to Lucien
when you do get up and head to the bathroom, first thing you do is shower together
he likes washing your hair
bathroom bits might happen, but surprisingly, it’s not a thing that happens a lot so don’t come at me. we’re being wholesome
Lucien’s incredibly intimate and his love language is touch. Yes, he has a way with words but he’s also a really good manipulator
he’s used his words for evil too often and therefore can’t trust words anymore. so he uses physical intimacy as a way to show love.
Lucien has a skincare routine of dermatologically approved products. a double cleanse, serum, essence and moisturizer. he uses anti-age sometimes to prevent later wrinkles.
they’re also one of the reasons why he smells clean and fresh
will tickle you when you’re rinsing your mouth. you’ve sprayed water all over the bathroom mirror before. he loves the reaction.
if you’re having a day off, you’ll probably just wear sweatpants and a t-shirt or a sweater. Lucien’s closet is relatively plain but clean. he has the best cable-knit sweaters/cardigans though.
your breakfast consists of western things like yogurt or oatmeal. Lucien likes having fruit at the start of the day
the rest of the day is spent relaxing and lounging, walking in the park, biking, reading, drawing, whatever you’d like
maaan...i wish i had more days off
Gavin
Tumblr media
Gavin’s actually a decently laid-back person on weekends
like, sure he has to work a lot, but his job doesn’t necessarily force him to work from home, so you pretty much have his full attention at home but also he can’t bear to not give you his full attention so what are we expecting
the nasty thing about Gavin being a police officer is that sometimes, he gets called up and needs to work at unconventional hours
also, he gets injured. most of his injuries are minor, but that doesn’t stop you from worrying.
but anyways, he’s not a total busy bee when he’s at home, and relaxing isn’t exceptional
sunday mornings are...well...active. Birdcop goes on a run/hits the gym every morning, so he’s awake by 6am. what did y’all think i was going to write
afterwards, he takes a quick shower and joins you in bed again.
Gavin sleeps in a pair of basketball shorts and a singlet. he’s somewhat shy about sleeping shirtless, and god forbid he sleep naked. but it’s all good and he respects your boundaries. besides, he’s comfortable in his sleep and that’s all that matters.
you spoon in your sleep. sometimes, he’s the big spoon because he likes being able to ‘protect’ you in his sleep. other times, he relishes in the comfort of being the little spoon and feeling you pressed up against his back.
very important headcanon! you’ve learnt to sleep with the bedroom window open. on workdays, Gavin gets home late and jumps right into the bedroom. it’s become a typical habit for you two, although you used to be grumpy about not being able to sleep with the noises of traffic.
you’re usually awoken by the sound of the shower and Gavin’s humming it’s canon that he hums now, bitches. also I bet his singing voice is amazing
so it’s less ‘sleeping in’ and more ‘lounging in bed like the lazy bastards you are’ i’m kiDDING
if he’s able to, Gavin might convince you to go on a run with him....but let’s be honest, you rarely agree
Gavin’s a total cuddlebug though, so be prepared to spend the next forty-five minutes in the tightest hug ever (to be fair, you’re not complaining)
he’s completely soft for you and you’ll have to wrestle out of his grip to get to the bathroom
you don’t shower in the morning, so everything’s pretty quick
Gavin doesn’t actually have a good skincare regiment tbh...he’ll slap on some cream and that’s it. probably washes his face in the shower with body wash...AND HIS SKIN STILL LOOKS AMAZING
you like making funny faces in the mirror while brushing your teeth and making Gavin laugh while he’s watching you in the doorway. he loves how you just make his day with the smallest things.
you guys both dress in really casual clothing, like hoodies and shorts/sweatpants/pj pants unless you’re going somewhere
Gavin has them grey sweatpants, if you know what I mean okay I’ll chill, sorry~
you wear his shirts a lot because they’re super big on you and Gavin secretly not-so-secretly thinks you’re adorable in them (a good thing about Gavin is that he’s easy to read; he blushes rather quickly)
“Ahh...it’s just—you look so tiny and cute.” guess he’s not the only one blushing now
i see Gavin as a ‘bun for breakfast’ kind of person. he picks them up at the stall a couple of miles away when he heads home. sometimes he does so running, other times...well he’s not called Birdcop for nothing
you guys have 2 buns each for breakfast because they’re delicious
lounge time is often spent gaming or cleaning the house (you’re both busy people and Gavin tends to get messy because he just chucks clothes on the floor after a hard workday)
you make the most out of your sunday, hoping Gavin doesn’t get called in
who wouldn’t like being domestic with Gavin?
Kiro
Tumblr media
Kiro, unsurprisingly, has an incredibly busy schedule
one that, similar to Gavin, isn’t really decided by himself
i suppose his situation is a tad bit worse than Birdcop’s, since his workdays don’t even actually end when he gets home. he constantly practices choreos, singing, etc. at home
so, full days off are few and very, very far between
this makes them extra precious
it helps to have a lazy morning once in a while though (in Kiro’s case, lazy sundays are most likely a bi-weekly thing)
you wake up first! Kiro needs his beauty sleep, and damn this boy can knock in 16 hours of sleep if need be
you’ll probably lay in bed for a while and then attempt to get up and ready for the day
until...you feel Kiro’s arm tugging you back
for a skinny, lithe boy, he’s remarkably strong. he pulls you back to bed with the groggiest, cutest sleep-laced voice EVER
“Mmm, Miss Chips, it’s not time to wake up yet, is it?”
he snuggles into you and refuses to wake up unless you give him kisses
during the night, Kiro sleeps in actual pyjamas with cute characters on them. when he feels lazy, he’ll probably just slip on a t-shirt and some boxer shorts, but he likes putting in the effort to wear matching couple pyjamas
Kiro cuddles with you 24/7, and sleep makes little difference here. he’s often the little spoon because he does like feeling your presence and your grip on him. he moves around when sleeping, so you might end up out of each other’s embrace, but Kiro subconsciously always touches you in some way or form, like holding hands or intertwining legs. he’s a man with many identities and needs your presence as a reassurance that he’s still the man that you love
he loves to pepper your face with kisses after getting home from rehearsals/concerts, claiming that it gives him energy
you do the same in the morning, anything to hear that sweet giggle of his
he’s deceptively cute though, and innocent morning kisses tend to spiral into...something more let’s just be honest, his stamina is something else entirely iM SORRY
morning exercise? check. Hotel? Trivago. non-sponsored~
you guys don’t shower in the morning. Kiro’s used to showering after practice, which is late at night, and you shower in the evenings to help you relax
however, on a rare occasion, you’ll draw a nice bath together and play around with bubbles and scented bath bombs so fun and relaxing
Kiro totally has a 14-step skincare regiment. you don’t get that beautiful baby-smooth skin without some effort.
he has the best ‘mid-range to high-end’ products on the market, and loves sweet and floral scents for his skincare and makeup. you guys try to line up each other’s routines to be able to do them together every morning.
Kiro also has a huge bedhead in the morning! it’s your job to get this sleepyhead styled for a fun day
even Kiro’s casual loungewear is top-notch hip and trendy. he has fun sweatpants with chains, belts, patches, you name it. he likes holding a little fashion show with you, no matter what you two are wearing
old jeans? strut it. thrifted shirt? vogue, honey.
Kiro’s on a strict diet, so usually he has a smoothie and some tofu pudding for breakfast. on occasion, you’ll indulge him in something decadent, like French toast or pancakes. on moments like these, you swear he loves you juuuuuust a little more but don’t tell Savin!
you guys are a relatively active couple, so unless you’re inside gaming or busy working, you’ll spend some time in thrift stores or karaoke bars, arcades, fun fairs,...
just thinking about Kiro brightens my day...
As always, I hope you enjoyed reading this! I’ll try to bring out more content for K-Pop idols, otome characters and anime characters during the holidays. Requests are still open, so don’t be afraid to send a little message in my ask-box!
Love,
R.

54. “Would it be all right if I borrowed your sweater? It smells like you.”
64. “Your bedhead is really cute”
79. “No, like…. It’s just, I can’t believe you’re actually wearing my clothes.”
Word count: 1.6K
Tumblr media
You where so Absolutely, Undeniably, Indubitably tired. You had stayed up the previous night studying, and you had to pull n all nighter later tonight to study for a shitty potions exam, my god you hated N.E.W.T.S. The rest of your friends, the Marauders, Lily, Marlene, Dorcas, everyone had already studied and got an early night, while you procrastinated, so you had to cram the night before. This is hell, why do you do this? But you decided to take full advantage of the empty common room and decided to set up shop down their for the night. It was 10Pm, you where fresh faced, full from supper and have a cup of tea. How hard could Potions be to grasp?
It turns out very hard. All of the stuff that actually went into your brain just got muddled up, and it just wasn't going well. Your tea had been left to go cold, and the entirety of your notes had been spilled out over the common room table. It was getting chilly, and you needed some more tea anyway, so you decided to take a break. How you hadn't gotten colder earlier is a mystery, as you where wearing biker shorts and a tank top. You grabbed your cup, and stood up, when the cold sent a shiver down your spine and goosebumps rose on your skin. Then an idea popped into your head. Every day since you met him, Remus Lupin had worn the exact same, comfy looking, sweater, day in, day out. And to be honest, that's something you could use right now. You crept up the stairs, closer to the boys dorm, and quietly knocked on, you waited a few seconds, but there was no reply.
“Rem?” You whisper-shouted.
Then almost instantaneously, the door swung open, revealing none other than Remus Lupin, with no shirt, plaid pyjama pants and a book in his hand. Of course. He gave you a warm smile as he opened the door for you to step into the room. Man he looked so damn adorable in the low light.
“(Y/N)? What are you doing up, its like 2Am?” He gave a questioning look.
“I'm sorry, its what?” Since when did it get that late, you could've sworn you'd only started studying an hour ago. He nodded toward the clock on his night stand, which, in classic Remus fashion, was also drowned in old books and chocolate. You let out a quiet giggle.
“Guess the time just got away from me. I was wondering...” You chuckled nervously, why was it so damn hard to ask this man for a sweater. Right, he was Remus. “Would it be all right if I borrowed your sweater? It smells like you, and I could really use the comfort right now?” He just kinda stood there, jaw slack, fumbling over his words, trying to explain how much he would love to give you any sweater he owned, without sounding creepy of course.
“If you two are gonna shag, could you maybe do it quietly? I'm trying to sleep here” The grumbled voice of Sirius came from the end bed. Remus threw a pillow at him as you both blushed profusely.
“Yeah.” He said abruptly. “I mean yeah, of course you can, yeah, yeah, of course, yeah” He repeated, with a nervous laughter.
“So, can I borrow it?” You questioned sarcastically with a laugh.
“Yeah, ill go get it” He laughed lowly. He tried to be as smooth as he could but when you where around, he had the function of a paper plate. Trying to retrieve the jumper from his trunk, he slipped a few times, laughing and mumbling a quiet ‘sorry’. How can one man be so cute.  He quickly jogged back over to you, about to hand you the sweater, when he stopped to admire your beauty for a second, your face lit by the candle light. Well what he thought to be a second but was more closer to a minute, being snapped out of his daydream by a quiet ‘Rem?’ Coming from you. God he loved that nickname. He laughed and apologised, handing you the sweater.
“Don't stay up too late though, love, you wont be able to focus if you have no sleep” he lectured. “You want some chocolate to take down with you?” You gratefully accepted his offer, marvelling at the mass amounts of chocolate he had. He gave you a variety. You knew he had given you his expensive chocolate he had gotten for his birthday. But you pretended not to notice and thanked him for the gesture with a kiss on the cheek as you quickly ushered out of the room. Scared if you stayed too long, you'd do something you regret. Of course, you left so quick, you just missed the deep blush that appeared on Remus’ face as he held a hand against his cheek where you had just kissed. He heard a low “Man, you are soooooo whipped” From Sirius, but just threw a pillow at him. He lay back down on his bed, dreaming of you.
After your sweater and chocolate exchange with Remus, you decided to duck back into the kitchens for some more tea. A quick caffeine top up is just what you needed. As you got back to the common room it was quickly approaching 2:30Am, You decided to get a few more hours of study done, but now in Remus’ comfy sweater. Obviously it was wayyy to comforting, because you ended up nodding off on the common room couch at 4Am, engulfed by the sweater and surrounded by the smell of Remus.
While you slept soundly downstairs, Remus looked up at his clock. 4:45Am. Sleep alluded him lately much to his chagrin. His dreams were usually filled to the brim with you, wondering what his life would be like if you two where together. But recently, he had been thinking about doing something about it, causing him some sleepless nights. He though you liked him, he was 90% sure, okay more like 60%. But the marauders had him convinced that she liked him back. Hell even lily knew that the Gryffindor princess was smitten for Werewolf Boy. He just wanted you to be his, and for him to not be a bumbling, stammering, blushing mess around you He lay in his own head space for about 45 minutes, until he realised you where still downstairs. He was worried you might work yourself to death at this rate. So he quietly shuffled out of his bed, making his way down the stairs. What he saw when he got down there was, perhaps, the one thing he’d want to see for the rest of his life. You where curled up around a pillow on the common room couch, Remus’ sweater drowning you. You where bathing in the Dawn sunlight, and you looked absolutely ethereal. He thought if there was heaven on earth this would be it. If there where big, cartoon heart eyes in real life, he’d definitely have them right bout now. He stood there staring at you, with his big, cartoon heart eyes for a solid five minutes, until you began to stir and wake up. He tried to busy himself looking over your papers and other miscellaneous things on the table.
“Hey, Remmy, not stealing my notes are you?” You giggled in your cute morning voice. He stood, frozen and slack jawed. How could one woman be so perfect? “Rem? Oh no, what's wrong? Is it my terrible bed head?” You panicked trying to flatted your crazed hair. He quickly shook himself from his daydream.
“No, its… Your bed head is cute” He mumbled lowly, you giggled. “Its just… I cant believe your wearing my clothes.”
“Well yeah, that was why I asked for it, it smells good” You breathed In the scent of his sweater, and Remus looked at you. Sat there, with a bed head, sleep deprived, having just woken up, still looking like an angel on earth. Why was he doing nothing about it? To hell if he was gonna let some douche get you before he could.
“Rem?” You questioned, blushing under his abnormally long stare. And before you knew it he had immediately rushed to you, his lips attaching to yours, passionate but hungry. He pulled away, his forehead resting against yours. “Ive been wanting to do that for a while” He laughs and you giggle. But you where cut short by a slow clap ensuing from behind you, you both turned to see Sirius on the staircase, classic smirk and everything. Remus was about to scold Sirius and warn him not to tell the boys but Sirius already knew it. “Don't worry. ‘Remmmmyyyy’” He said in a dreamy voice. “I wont tell the boys” Remus released  breath and started counting down.
“3...2...1...” You furrowed your brows to question him, but it was soon answered by Sirius clamouring up the stairs screaming James’ name, probably about to tell him what just happened.
“Back in a sec, love” He said before rushing after Sirius, his werewolf traits no match for Sirius’ dog ones. You just stared after him, before shrinking down into the couch, sighing dreamily.
