Episode 30 thoughts!

OKAY OKAY OKAY I HAVE A LOT TO SAY

alternate title is "Local anime only is introduced to the entity that is Shopkeeper".

MY GOD. I had no idea we'd see him so soon. I'm so glad his appearance is no longer a spoiler to me XD

To start with, Yor seems quite tense while she's going out to meet with him.

A detail that the anime omitted, is that it seems he was caught by surprise by Yor. Is she so stealthy she can even sneak up on him?

He's... omg he's scary. At the same time he's got one very smooth and sexy voice. I know we heard him on the phone but oh it's so different to hear him from up close. I'm going to feel very conflicted about him, methinks XD

Of course, when he talks about "pruning and watering" and stuff he definitely doesn't talk just about his garden :)

The music was perfect for his introduction. The garden we see around him looks so peaceful and serene, but the music greatly encapsulates that ominous feeling that "This guy is a LOT".

The fact that he's willing to risk decapitating her on the spot just in case she lost one (1) iota of her perfect form is terrifying. And he laughs about it. The fuck. And Yor has been working for him since she was a teenager? O_O

I mean, when I said he's got presence I didn't mean it's not a diabolical one. But holy shit.

Is... is that person in the back wearing a sheet over their head like they're pretending to be a ghost? I'm noticing the important details here!

Shopkeeper looks like he really holds this mission to great value, and feels greatly indebted to protect Olka. It's very interesting that he's entrusting this mission to Yor.

At the same time, we see his face as Yor says she'll need an excuse for the family, and he is NOT impressed.

Like geez does ANYONE in her circles not have negative feelings about this wedding? First Yuri then her coworkers then even Shopkeeper like does ONE person go like "That was a good decision you made"?

I mean, if Shopkeeper really values her... it's not like it doesn't look like he has the power to provide her with some cover. He looks so imposing and Yor is so okay with his tactics I doubt she hasn't told him the marriage was just for convenience, so why didn't he go like "Nah ditch them I'll give you the cover you need"? He looking kinda sus rn ngl.

Final detail: the thingies hanging from the strap of his hat are the same shape of Yor's earrings. Nice detail.

It's interesting that Yor's demeanor doesn't change around him. She's still as lively and sweet as we already know her.

I love how after we saw how Yuri stayed up for days to catch Perkin, he fell asleep like that on the subway. Consequences!

Talking about people in Yor's circles not accepting her marriage...

Yuri is even VERY audacious in how he says he'll never accept Loid. Yor is way too patient with him, but I guess she can't help it. She loves him too much for her own good, and that was evident by the way she decided to become an assassin just to provide him with an education she completely ignored for herself.

I was surprised by the flashing screen but seeing Yuri run for the train as if he could somehow pull it back was hilarious. What a lad.

Yor is just now wondering if there's any point in her keeping her assassin job, when it's been at least a year that Yuri has been financially independent. It really makes me wonder where her money from her jobs really goes to... and considering Shopkeeper's behaviour, if she even gets paid fairly as an assassin. I wouldn't rule out him taking advantage of her in that regard over the years.

So I think it would be interesting to consider that Shopkeeper is trying to keep Yor in his employ by uhm... idk, brainwashing her? With all that "keeping the world beautiful" and whatnot. I mean, she took that job out of need and having no other choice, she's very good at it, (probably) is okay with getting paid unfairly, and takes at least an entire year after Yuri became independent to question whether she should stay in this job. She's a good and willing workhorse, is all I'm saying. Shopkeeper wouldn't want to lose that, would he?

Again, that's just an anime-only's blabbers. But that's what's good with Endo's work - just from one character introduction you can get a lot of insight!

Anya looks so happy while in line for the raffle. I'm so happy she was able to rig the rigged contest and get herself a winning ticket.

I'd seen this face from people sending me spoiler-free manga screenshots, but I had never expected it to be a "Sucks to be you, bitch" kinda face. I love her XD

I do gotta say though, it's VERY convenient that she happened to earn a ticket for the exact same cruise Yor would be on. But I'm not complaining - I mean, we wouldn't have much of a story otherwise XD

If anything, it would not be out of the ordinary if Anya heard about the raffle, then heard from Yor's thoughts about the details of the cruise, then found a way to earn those tickets. But I digress.

Dear director. Why are we getting a full front view of Loid's ass. Not that I'm complaining, just curious.

I actually felt a little touched when Loid said Yor should go with Anya. Like I know it's because he has no "for the mission" excuse to go on the cruise and instead has an "I have a lot of work to do" excuse, but it still felt pretty sweet he thought they'd have fun together on the trip. Or something. Delusion what is that

I love their expressions here. Yor struggling with her excuse and Twilight, Best Spy of WestalisTM, being the lovestruck idiot he is, he just buys it.

I loved this. Devil Anya didn't even go for something "bad" she was just like "ANYA WANTS OCEAN, ANYA SHALL HAVE OCEAN."

At some point she's going to become the boy who cried wolf with how many times she's threatening to go bad if things don't go her way. Even Loid doesn't look that concerned by that "threat" any longer XD

I knew the cruise was happening, so I knew somehow Twilight would manage to get time off, but I didn't expect it would be that easy... and when we switched to Sylvia approving the vacation, the cowbell sound effect pretty much ended me

And... wow. I did not expect Twilight has that sort of fear for Handler.

In the manga we can even see how intense his face is.

Is that an accurate expectation or is it just Twilight's overreacting and overthinking mind? We saw how that's something Shopkeeper would definitely do with Yor but from what we know of Handler I would not expect something like that. I think it's mostly Twilight's perfectionism and dedication to his job, as well as how much he's accepted for it over the years. He's willing to accept anything, so he's always expecting the worst... even if it's not an accurate representation of reality.

It's also very coincidental that Handler was admonished for overworking her agents just as Twilight needed time off. It's probably Endo reminding us that deep down it's a comedy show and things just work and I'm just looking too deep into it XD

She's not wearing the rings anymore. Perhaps she caught on to the fact that they were given to her as a joke?

"Go rest and have fun! That's an order!"

Yor catches herself about thinking of having fun on the trip and berates herself.

Since she's already reached the point of accepting she appreciates her part in the family and not just for the cover it gives her, I think it gives an extra layer to how dedicated she is to doing a good job. She knows it's an important job she needs to take seriously and concentrate on. Family fun would be just a distraction... and she's not used to such distractions in her job, after all.

And yes Yuri was in her life, but he was always separate from the job. Now she's got the two of them riding on the same ship!

And that alone makes her reach the question of whether she could just... stop working as Thorn Princess. My god, good luck with that when you have such a boss O_O

SOME GOOD CGI ACTION OOOOOOOHHHHH

No wonder Anya lost it.

Yor looked so happy while next to Loid and Anya, then she met up with her coworkers and a completely different mask slipped on.

This family should come with a label that says "Do Not Separate".

A grand entrance to the ship, with suspicious characters joining in! And new music I'm not recognizing! Lots of interesting stuff :D

I love that we get to see Anya with Loid here. It's obvious Loid hasn't had fun in probably ever, and he's still not got the gist of "relaxing" yet.

I actually love the face he has in the manga. He almost looks... curious. Like this is something new to him, and it probably is. He doesn't have his usual calculating face. The "order" to relax was one thing, but maybe Anya's excitement is rubbing off on him.

Anya's reaction to their room was priceless. They showed it so well XD

Hey, at least they have a window! Most third-class rooms in ships don't even have that.

Local anime only is also finally introduced to that McMahon guy.

It's so funny that I've seen his name everywhere yet I had no idea what he looked like. Well, now I know XD

So we're told the father as well as the two oldest sons of the Gretcher family were killed because of infighting, yet it looks like the youngest member is still a baby.

Those are some interesting family dynamics. Were the sons mentioned this woman's sons, or was one her husband? Or was the boss her father and the sons her brothers? Also, interesting pin on the lapel there.

Similarly, this suit Yor is wearing is the only piece of clothing aside from her office clothes that doesn't have the rose-shaped buttons everything else she wears has.

The guy goes like yo will that Forger woman be enough and McMahon looks like he's like bruh you have no idea. She may be just one but she's enough for twenty.

The little kid is so cute. I felt touched when Olka said that he probably recognizes her as his mother from her voice and her scent.

Olka asks for a favour, to be let out for a bit, and Yor is kind and empathetic enough to indulge her. Most other bodyguards wouldn't be so lenient. Though I guess this is what, in the end, causes her to be caught...

Anya is being Anya.

One (1) stomach ulcer acquired.

I loved how they put shadows on his face for this part.

He's fully prepared to treat the ship as a place where he may be attacked, and to gather as much intelligence as he can for his surroundings. That is, until Anya reminds him why they're there.

And he takes it upon himself to have the most fun ever! For the mission!

I think we will all lose our minds when this man bursts into genuine, uncontrollable laughter. We're clowning him now but when such real emotion bursts out of him I think we won't be able to handle it.

It's a small moment, and it's shown in a comedic way, but it's also heartbreaking to know how he genuinely doesn't know how to have fun. What does this man enjoy watching? What music does he like? What foods are his favourites? We don't know, and the sad part is, he doesn't either. Twilight has no identity and thus no preferences, no profile and no favourite things.

Leave it to me to take a humorous scene and turn it into crying about Twilight hours.

At least Twilight isn't the only one lying to himself. Like two peas in a pod, they're trying to distance themselves from the family. Meanwhile Anya and Bond are like "They are my fambly and I'll love them forever :3"

She looks so cute! And I love Olka's comment about how Loid wouldn't recognize her, lmao if only you knew.

You kind of feel for Olka. Regardless of whether she was born or married into the criminal family, it's the kind of life you can't leave easily. And I mean, morality issues aside, Yor's hands are not clean either, so it was sweet to see them bond, and to even have Olka entrust her with Gram's real name.

Sadly, this move of trust is what caught the attention of dude with long beard and impressive hearing.

Just like the way Franky describes Garden assassins, this guy looks to have some supernatural levels of hearing and comprehending, since he's monitoring dozens of listening devices at the same time and still manages to hear one word that tips him off to who his target is posing as.

Overall, an amazing introduction to this new arc! I'm so excited to see the plot and the characters develop, and especially some long-overdue focus on Yor! It's promising a lot of action and character and even humor with Anya dealing with a "gotta relax and have fun!" Loid. Can't wait :D

I would like to point out that the way Kate runs her squad is the legit way that squads run. like tsukishima gives off ‘gay but homophobic’ energy

but yamaguchi has ‘straight but a strong ally’ energy

and this is hugely bc while tsukishima fell down the alt-right pipeline, yamaguchi was going through that ‘women 😍🤩💕’ phase which i think every WLW has went through at one point

like while tsukishima was watching ‘sjw get rekt compliation #125′ , yamaguchi was watching those heart-wrenching lgbtq+ short films on youtube

and on tiktok his fyp was probably originally cottagecore (bc it’s his ideal lifestyle ofc) and somehow he is now kinda on sapphic cottagecore tiktok

like not to fetishize them or anything, just bc he’s awed by how in love they are and that’s kinda what he wants for himself

anyway this was just my lengthened explanation as to why - unbeknownst to you or anyone - he was an ally to the lgbtq+ community (if not apart of it)

you didn’t really expect him to be disgusted or unsupportive of it tbh - i mean, it’s tadashi ffs! 💞 you know he’d never break up with you or judge you for something like that, but that didn’t stop you from being slightly nervous

but he was ten times more nervous when you texted him, asking for him to meet you by the local park’s fountain bc you had something important to tell him

mans thought you were dying ngl

he almost burst out crying on the walk to the park bc he imagined a whole scenario where he was sitting next to your fkn death-bed

but you seemed healthy enough so his next assumption was that you were going to break-up with him

so when he approached you by the water fountain and you noticed that his eyes were glossy and his hair was damp with sweat, you were quite worried for him now

‘tadashi! are you okay?! your eyes are all puffy and red! do you have hay fever?’

yamaguchi rapidly shook his head, hastily escorting you to a nearby park bench so you could sit down beside him, ‘it’s nothing; what is it that you want to tell me?’

‘oh’ you choked, quickly averting your gaze from his kind, damp eyes. ‘it’s- um, i don’t-’ you cut yourself off, mentally cursing at yourself as you had practised what you were going to say to him hundreds of times before he arrived yet you still couldn’t stammer it out

yamaguchi was hanging on each word you uttered, but once he noticed that you were struggling, he placed his hands upon yours and shot you a reassuring smile

you let out a sigh in hopes to relieve your nerves while rehearsing what you were gonna say one more time in your head before blurting it out,

‘babe, erm, i’ve been questioning for a while and i’ve concluded that i’m bi - as in bisexual; and i just thought i’d tell you bec--’

you genuinely thought that you might have to explain to yamaguchi what bisexual means so IMAGINE your surprise when he simply replies, ‘you’re bisexual? is that all you wanted to tell me?’ and once you hum in agreement, he lets out a heave of euphoric relief

‘(y/n), please don’t make fun of me but on the way here, i was almost gonna cry because i thought you were going to tell me something horrible.’ he clutched his chest, breathing heavily - usually he’d never admit to something like that but right now, he felt that it was appropriate

you snickered at his rather exaggerated actions, ‘awh, baby. i’m sorry.’ a pout formed on your lips as you soothingly rubbed his back.

yamaguchi rapidly shook his head before turning the tables and rubbing your back instead, ‘nonono, it’s fine! i’m fine!- and i’m glad you’re fine too.’ he stumbled, hastily placing a kiss on your cheek before whispering in your ear, ‘i’m so proud of you. congratulations!’

although you couldn’t see his face, you could tell from his light voice that he was beaming

after that, he buried his nose into the crook of you neck and snaked his arms around your waist to pull you into a hug, which you both stayed in for a good 5 minutes

Kei Tsukishima

let’s be honest, tsukki’s definitely part of the lgbtq+ community but in deep denial

like if you ask him, he’s not even questioning his gender or sexuality, he’s just ✨straight ✨

so when you just randomly joked one day ‘oi, four-eyes, turn this shit off. she’s too much for my lil’ bi heart to handle.’ while y’all were watching a movie and you instinctively made an off-hand comment about how gorgeous the female lead was

upon realising what you just said, you turned to him with the most awkward grin plastered on your face, ‘tsukki, i’m bisexual, by the way.’

‘no shit, sherlock.’ he hissed at your use of that little nickname

you turned your head to look at him as you blinked rapidly, finally mentally processing his response

while he did the exact same thing simultaneously, dramatically turning his head to meet your gaze before muttering, ‘was that you coming out?’

your eyes widened as you realised, then nodded slowly

tsukishima smirked, shifting his attention back onto the movie, ‘congrats.’ he spoke in a mellow voice, a slight sense of amiability laced into his tone

‘thanks-’

‘have you told your parents yet?’ he quirked a brow, his eyes remaining glued to the screen

you hesitated before shaking your head, ‘no.’

‘what about your friends?’

‘yeah, i came out to my friend group a few months ago - along with yamaguchi.’

tsukishima couldn’t help but frown at the fact you came out to yamaguchi before him but honestly, he couldn’t blame you - he was aware that his bitchy exterior probably discouraged you from telling him sooner, so he was just glad that you had the confidence to tell him eventually

‘so how long have you known that you’re, like, y’know, bi?’ he inquired further

‘a while.’ you hummed, biting your bottom lip, internally so relieved that he wasn’t being too awkward or weird about it

‘good for you.’ he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, not a hint of sarcasm or irony detected in his voice for a change, ‘oh, and good luck with coming out to your parents’

‘thank you.’ you murmur, happily shifting your attention back onto the movie

tsukishima honestly doesn’t mind/care tbh

like he’s supportive and will beat a bitch up if they don’t accept you - but in general, he thinks that it’s none of his business who you love

as long as it is him (ಥ _ ಥ)

ok so fun story

you were both chilling in his room on a saturday, he was playing on his nintendo switch as always and you were on your phone

you had been meaning to come out to him for a while now but every time you tried, it seemed as though something happened to prevent you from doing so

for example, you tried to come out to him while y’all were chilling at the park but then a bunch of geese started terrorizing y’all and it completely ruined the mood

so you thought that now you were in his room - where there was less of an abundance of geese - it’d be a better time than any to just lift the burden that had been weighing on your chest

you were as nervous as any one would be but you kept on trying to reassure yourself that kenma would be supportive

however, he had never discussed any lgbtq+ related issues with you so you had no idea where he stood with that sort of stuff but tbh, he doesn’t give off homophobic vibes

after a while of staring at the wall and working up the courage, you finally spoke up, ‘hey, kenma. i think i might be bi.’

you mentally cursed at yourself as you didn’t ‘think’ that you are bi but rather you knew that you are bi, yet you felt the need to add that filler just in case things went sour

he perked up upon hearing this and turned to look at you, a small smile gracing his lips, ‘okay, that’s cool. congratulations.’

you couldn’t help but beam back at him, ‘thanks, babe.’ you almost whispered, gladly going back to whatever you were doing on your phone

honestly, you were happy to leave the interaction at that - i mean, his brief and calm response was satisfying beyond expected, as it was probably the least awkward way that could’ve possibly gone down

however, what happened next filled you with endless amounts of euphoria

‘oh, and (y/n).’ kenma said to grab your attention, ‘i’m bisexual.’

you did a double-take

your instincts told you to throw yourself into his arms and rave on about how proud you are that he had the courage to come out but after a moment of reflection, you had a better idea

‘okay, that’s cool. congratulations.’

kenma automatically pouted at how you used his own words against him when he was clearly expecting a hug, ‘(y/n)..’ he whined lowly, shifting his gaze back onto his game

but you were weak so ofc you pulled him into a hug as you both muttered sweet, reassuring things into each other’s ears

‘i love you so much, (y/n) no matter what.’

‘i know.’ you snickered.

‘bitch-’

‘i love you too. and i’m so proud of you for coming out - you’re so brave.’

‘aw, thanks. so are you, babe.’

‘i know’

kenma playfully nibbled at your neck for being such a clown during a sentimental moment

but anyway, you helped kenma come out so- yeah :))

Holy crap this episode was funny as hell until it wasn't and then we were plunged right back into the intensity. But great episode!!! I don't lb so I don't get spoilers but man I had a lot of reactions as I watched. Ngl, a lot of cursing and caps ahead but damn was this such a good episode:

I’ve watched 15x19 Inherit the Earth twice and I still hate it. Chuck’s end was fitting but the weak ass storytelling to get us there was unforgivable. Also, Cas is still gone and we barely mentioned him or adequately mourned him in that episode. I just...can’t with this show rn. 15 years! For this?!?!?!?!

What quality storytelling and wrap up could they possibly accomplish in the final episode next week. The fans needed and deserved narrative throughlines and intentional, carefully developed character growth throughout the series. Some characters grew (e.g., Castiel, Jack) but Sam and Dean have been mindbogglingly more or less the same for about 10 years. Occasionally a “good” episode rehashes their old issues and makes the boys feel their feelings, but the show has been mostly plotty shark-jumping antics. That’s entertaining only in how inconsistent and strange it is.

I wanted Dean to wrestle with and work through his mommy and daddy issues (ages ago). I wanted Sam to figure out how to love and trust a woman who could actually live a “normal” hunter life with him. I wanted Dean to figure out that he’s queer (don’t at me) and work through what that means given his archaic ideas about masculinity in the context of the hunter life. I wanted both men to learn to be more emotionally mature and overtly open-hearted over time (and not just with pretty women but with scores of men in their lives that they loved and lost). I wanted them to learn how to grieve in honest, overt, and healthy ways since death and loss are a cornerstone of their lives.

I wanted Sam and Dean to have a long ass memory, mentioning fallen friends freely and often, lighting a candle on Jo’s birthday and then going about their hunter business. I wanted Dean’s hilarious comment in 11x4 when he said “I read” to mature into a special interest area that he researched and became an expert in, taking full advantage of the Men of Letters library. I wanted Sam to never stop inviting Dean to be more emotionally vulnerable. I wanted Sam and Dean to slowly stop keeping secrets. I wanted Sam to keep demanding that Dean treat him as an adult and capable hunter who he doesn’t have to keep sacrificing for and taking care of. Codependency is not a good look after 15 years.

I wanted Castiel to confess his love for Dean (dont at me) at least seven seasons ago. I wanted him to be in every epsidode, a tried and true and unequivocal part of the family, always fighting by Sam and Dean’s side. I wanted Dean to reciprocate! Even if he had to spend half a season struggling to redefine himself in light of his expanding heart and romantic interest in Castiel. I wanted Castiel and Dean to hash out what it means to be in love, and queer, and of two different species (angel and human) and the beauty of that and the complications.

I wanted Dean to work on wrangling his rage over the years rather that letting it control him and endlessly put him on the outs with Castiel mostly and sometimes Sam. I wanted Mary and John to stay dead (don’t at me). They were a critical part of Sam and Dean’s past (and Dean’s issues in particular) but with quality writing and support from friends and family, Dean could have worked through that, letting himself grieve what his parents weren’t and celebrate what they were.

I wanted Sam and Dean to turn the bunker into a headquarters for hunters and MoL around the country, reminiscent of Ellen’s Roadhouse and name a few mixed drinks after her. I wanted Sam and Dean to regularly remember Bobby as not just Bobby but as their foster father. The boys lived with him and were raised by him during huge chunks of their childhood while John was away hunting.

I wanted Dean and Sam to see and treat the women in the show like sisters, occasionally texting with them, asking about their hunts, calling them on birthdays, tearfully meeting up to toast a dead hunter or 12. All of this because it is human and facilitates character growth and it shows who they are, not necessarily because it serves the plot. The plot is secondary to why I stuck around for 15 years! I’m here for the characters.

I wanted Sam and Dean to grow as people despite their endlessly brutal and painful circumstances. Whether you’re a hunter fighting evil or a normal clueless person drinking too much Starbuck’s and worrying about your family, adversity is a part of the human condition and learning how to navigate that adversity and learning who you are and how to be in the face of that is what we are all here doing.

Ngl, each new season of the show since the 5th has been harder and harder to watch because the boys have been defined in terms of their persistent unresolved issues instead of by their ability to grow and adapt as people.

We see them, week after week, rally and rise to meet external threats (monsters, demons, angels, etc). I wanted to see that same energy around their personal growth. Naming the boys’ issues and watching them drink and cry about it once or twice per season is technically character development, but narrative throughlines that go beyond merely naming their issues, throughlines that actually delve into their issues and force them to begin dealing with them in order to resolve them (as much as possible) is character growth. One does not require strong storytelling skills and basic knowledge of human psychology, the other definitely does.

In the last 10 years (basically after Kripke left) fans have been given a show, sure. But, in many ways, the story died at the end of the 5th season. Honestly, I could write about this for the next week, with receipts (because I’ve been here for 15 years), but I’ll stop here.

Okay so, ngl the sister was made exclusively so I wouldn't have to consider how Minyi stays in the same apartment for detective reasons despite her dad being missing-presumed-dead. Grandparents (AKA Syntax's parents) would probably just take her to their own home which would make the detective stuff SO much harder, and i tried researching how foster care works in China but it instantly felt like I was going too dark for it.

So in the end giving him a sibling was the most prudent choice. Someone far enough from the situation as to not really be involved until she took in Minyi, but also close enough to the situation that she didn't want to uproot the poor kid before it had even processed in her head that her Auntie was gonna be taking care of her now and also mourn her apparently dead brother at the same time.

And I went with sister because... well who DOESN'T like the 'Cool Older Sister' trope?

I don't have a name for her just yet. And I can playfully get around that, because to Minyi she's just 'Auntie' and Syntax... this is like super embarrassing, but he doesn't actually remember her name??? His memory is so full of holes rn it's a minor miracle he remembers her at all, but he's so mortified he can't remember his own sister's name that he's gonna REFUSE to ask until he remembers on his own. So right now she's just 'Sis'

(she knows btw, but her brother's been stubborn since he was literally a toddler so if she told him it'd just piss him off and she thought he was dead for long enough that she's willing to play along.)

I get a sort of 'woodsy cool girl' vibe from her, like Wendy Corduroy 20 years in the future or so.Like she didn’t live in the city at first, she probably had a house somewhere in the woods thats a pain in the ass to get to and was chillin, just living alone.

I feel like Aunt Sis deffo wasn't going to have kids or even get married, and was content in her solitude; but of course was Super Stoked when her brother told her he and his partner were expecting a kid. She was DOWN to be the Cool Aunt whom only shows up on Birthdays and holidays, brings awesome presents, gets drunk, and tell embarrassing childhood stories until her twig of a brother has to try and wrastle her to get her to stop. which he would fail to do and his children would cheer her on as she put their daddy into a headlock.

And then whatever happened to his partner/Minyi's other parent.. happened. And You know, whichever way it went it's fucked up, so Aunt Sis kinda tried to just...be there for her brother, because he clearly needs SOMEONE around whose not his infant daughter.

So when, about five years later, Minyi is doing her homework at a table at school because she always has to stay at school a little later because Daddy works long hours, she realizes that...he's... not here yet. It's WAY later than it usually is when he comes to get her. Daddy's never been THIS late before. The teachers are whispering to eachother about 'secondary contacts'.

It's Auntie that picks her up from school, looking upset and furious. She tells her that she's gonna kick her daddy's butt when she gets hold of him, but right now they're going home because it's almost dinner time and she must be hungry (she was)

At first Aunt Sis had assumed that her brother had just finally cracked, that the stress of all the shit he'd been suppressing in order to be as good of a dad as possible to Minyi finally wore him down and she was gonna hunt down her brother in the middle of the mother of all mental breakdowns. But then he just... never turns up. A missing persons case turns presumed dead and filed away as never solved.

By the time New Years hits Aunt Sis has already resigned herself to motherhood.

Needless to say when her neice comes home from school one day with her fucking brother, still alive, his hair and eyes BRIGHT green, his skin FUCKING PURPLE, and for a moment it seems like he doesn't even know who she is, she's got.... Questions.

and a lot of yelling to get out of her system.

DARK SIDE SLEEPOVER!!!!! (Even though they live in the same castle-)

Thank you so much for this prompt! Even though it took a while it was really fun to do and it was the first time I’ve drawn more than 2 characters together in one scene! (Sorry for the wait btw ;u;) I tried to make everyone different when it comes to poses/expressions and I think I did a pretty good job. I hope you like it and (again) thanks for requesting this!!!

Okie Dokie, here’s why I drew each character the way I did:

Error - I feel like since he spends most of his time in the void-thingy he wouldn’t necessarily want to be close to the main group. But he would still want to be near them. So I just imagined he would use his strings as some sort of hammock and just chill on the ceiling. (He’s also hugging an Ink plush because that ship is kinda cute ngl)

Nightmare - All the dude wanted to do was read... I feel like he just got dragged into this so he’s just going to be reading the whole time until everyone falls asleep so he can sneak back up to his room.

Cross - I feel like he would be that *one* person at the sleepover that doesn’t wear pjs. I don’t know much about his character but what I pretty much gathered that he’s always on edge. So, I feel like he would just stay in his uniform the whole time *just in case* someone attacks. (I also feel like the Bad Sans’ literally had to fight him to make him take his shoes off -n-)

Dust - His pjs say “I’m Feeling Stabby” but since his arm is in the way you can’t see that ->-. I feel like he would be the last person to fall asleep (and would catch Nightmare trying to sneak away) because even if everyone else is asleep Phantom!Papyrus would keep him up. Rn he’s just talking to Killer and Cross though so Phantom is just chilling in his head.

Killer - So, I had some help with his pjs from the lovely @ask-undermine since I don’t know too too much about Killer. We decided that a cat hoodie would fit him best and I can’t agree more! He’s just a little cutie with a lap full of Horror! ^u^

Horror - He was 100% the one who fell asleep first and he did so on Killer’s lap. I decided to keep him shirtless because (I didn’t know what pjs he would have-) I thought it would look cool. Tbh, I think his pose is a little stiff but that’s just because I forgot to make his head tilt a bit... But I am so flippin’ proud of his chest that I’m willing to overlook that UnU.

Extra - So you can’t see it but behind Nm there is a pillow with a black apple on it because of the story he comes from. I also put the Mew Mew Kissy Cutie wand from that one keychain (from the Undertale Merch shop) because I hc that Killer LOVES Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2 (because of it’s “darker” theme according to Alphys). I also gave Horror a pizza blanket because food. (@ask-undermine once again helped me with the idea)

A/n: I LOVE YOU MORE THAN YOU LOVE MY WRITING OKAY?!?! so…ngl… I’m out of ideas for the pregnancy part rn, so we already have the baby okay?????

Aizawa walked into his house after returning from work. His eyes scanning the empty living room. His ears straining for any sound from you or your three-month-old baby girl, Himari. Nothing.

Closing the door behind him, Aizawa slipped off his shoes in exchange for his slippers. His footsteps were silent as he walked further into the house. Making his way towards the bedrooms he smiled when he sees the bathroom light on. Nearing the bathroom he can hear the soft sounds of music you played for Himari. Music, giggles, and blabbering mingled with the splashing sound of water.

Aizawa smiled at the scene before him. You were in the tub with Himari. Your hands supporting the naked baby in the tub who merrily splashed the water with her hands. “Hima-chan, be careful or else daddy is gonna pout when he has to clean up your mess!” You giggle as you place a wet hand on the still bald daughter of yours. “Right, daddy?” You ask looking up to see your husband smiling at the two of you.

Himari seems to recognize Aizawa as she cheerfully screams. Her body thrashing around in the water as Aizawa comes to place a kiss on her head and your mouth. “I’m home, my beautiful girls.” He whispers as you smile.

“Hima-chan and I were just taking a small bath! Isn't that right, Hima-chan?” You inform your husband who is currently stripping off his shirt. Two steps ahead of your next question. “Care to join?”

You smile as Aizawa sinks into the warm water behind you, his body tightly pressed against yours. You sighed leaning back as you positioned Himari onto your legs so she could see the both of you.

“How was work?” You ask, exaggerating facial expressions to Himari who did her best to copy you.

“So tiring, I had to sleep again during class because of the extra hours I put in last night for them.” Aizawa sighed against your neck as you felt him reach a hand up to brush Himari’s cheek. Himari babbles as she grabbed onto his hand. Her large black eyes focusing onto his fingers. Himari begins sucking on his fingers, her gums biting down on his calloused fingers. “Bakugou needs a slight adjustment in my plan still. Mineta is too far for me to work with still, Todoroki is making major improvements…”

You listened as Aizawa listed off how he each one of his students was improving. Moreover, what he would be doing to ensure that good change occurred. You knew that he would stay up late to figure this out as always. Your husband would devise a two-hundred step plan to get his students where they needed to be. It just meant that they would have a sleepy teacher during homeroom. Aizawa had calculated they didn’t really need him to be awake during homeroom hours. Because his announcements only lasted for so long, and the class representative was so by the rules, he might as well wrap it up quickly and nap.

“Are you sure you’re awake enough to take care of Himari, tonight? I don’t have to go out for patrol, you know?” You inform Aizawa, your eyebrow quirked up as he numbly nods into your neck.

“I can’t do that, you are too great a hero to be locked up here all day... With Himari being too young for daycare and everything.” Aizawa rejects your offer as the said baby was climbing your chest. Himari was smiling up at her father with the most precious smile on her face. Her chubby hand smacking against his stubbled cheek.

“I’ve been out every day this past month, let’s take a parent and Hima-chan night, huh Hima-chan, wouldn’t you like that?!” You coo at your daughter as you blow a raspberry into her cheek, her shrieks of joy melting both your and Aizawa’s heart.

“If you insist,” He sighs as you peck his lips quickly.

“Okay, pass me the shampoo, it’s time for this stinky girl to become a clean girl, isn’t that right?!”

At this moment Aizawa wished his quirk let him keep moments in his life forever perfect in his mind. Seeing you play around with Himari made he wish he was around more for the both of you. Aizawa watched on with much love as you bathed your daughter while he assisted you.

“Okay, who’s going to change our little baby?” You ask Aizawa who is leaning onto your shoulder as Himari sucked on her fist. “I will, you get dressed for bed.” You watch on as Aizawa steps out of the bathtub. He wraps a towel around his waist and grabbed Himari’s purple cat towel, now waiting on you. You hand your squirming baby into his towel-covered arms, and Aizawa walks away as Himari pulls on his hair.

“How was your day today? Did mommy give you all the hugs I asked her to give you?” Aizawa asks as he places Himari’s squirming body onto the changing table. He grabbed the lotion and already laid out pj’s and diapers and get her ready for bed.

Himari shivered, her teeth clattering loudly as Aizawa carefully put on lotion and a pair of diapers on the shaking child. Endless amounts of blabbering poured out of her mouth as Aizawa nodded along. He has invested in his daughter's conversation although he had no idea what she was saying.

As Aizawa pulled her black curly-haired head through the hole in her shirt, he pressed a kiss onto Himari’s forehead. “Don’t you look adorable, Hima.” Aizawa smiles as he scoops up his baby, and turns to the door. He was ready to get dressed and was going to give you back your slobbering daughter.

It was then that he noticed you in the doorway.

You had the slyest grin on your face as you proudly displayed your pj’s. They were identical to those of Himari’s.

What a little minx.

“Mommy and Himari are matching tonight,” You declare with a thumbs up. Somehow the squeal that left Himari’s mouth seemed to be an agreement to those words as you came to Aizawa. “Come on, daddy, go get dressed!” You say as you take Himari from Aizawa. Your face immediately pressing kisses onto your daughter.

Aizawa couldn’t move. He tried to walk away. He was rather cold in just the towel after all. But seeing you in a matching set with Himari made his heart soar in similar ways to when he fell in love with you. When he proposed to you, married you, and when you held Himari in your arms for the first time. It was then that he moved. Walking over to you, tears in his eyes from emotions he couldn’t explain. You barely looked at him as he comes to place a gentle kiss against your lips. He holds your cheeks tight as you kiss him back, and at that moment everything fades away.

That is until Himari smacked both of your faces, causing Aizawa to break away. Leaving you with your eyes still closed, heart, hammering away.

“I love you, so much,” Aizawa says to you, and his eyes focused on Himari who giggles loudly. “You have given me so much to live and strive for, I can never repay you.”

Tears form in your eyes as you walk in closer to Aizawa, insinuating you want him to hug you and Himari.

“You repay me every single day, my love.” You whisper as your head leans against his chest, “You make me whole.”

bonus!

Long after Himari had knocked out, you and your husband lay in bed.

Aizawa was wearing the PJ bottoms of the matching PJ set you and Himari had. They had it in men's, too, so you had to get some for the entire family!

Your fingers traced up and down his chest as he meticulously went over his daily plan for each student of his. You smiled, he was such a father figure. You knew the moment he let you in he was the man for you. Aizawa had the biggest heart you knew. Even if most people didn’t see it right away, there was nothing he wouldn't do for his special people. You frowned as the hand that held you close to him stopped moving.

“What’s wrong, my love?” You ask Aizawa, finally noticing that he had been frozen on the same page as he was on ten minutes ago.

“You’re going to need to stop touching me like that, kitten.” Aizawa shakily sighs, and you smirk the slightest bit. There were perks of not going on patrol, and this was number one. “Especially after tonight…”

You hum. While you love that your husband is always so involved with his students, maybe it was his turn to be looked after.

“I don’t think so,” You breeze, tossing his papers onto the floor and straddling him in one quick movement. “Let me show you how much I appreciate everything you do.”

lola what's happening with the spn fandom again i wanna know but also i'm scared

oh ro, here we go ig

so idk how much context you have so for our own sake, let's go back to the beginning of the end lol. jensen ackles, playing dean, said a few times even before the last episode was shown that he had to be convinced because he didn't really like the ending for his character. after it aired, jensen never acknowledged it again, but made a few references to 15x18. jared paladecki on the other end was thrilled about the ending, saying it was his favourite ep. which. yeah understandable bc it's like the first ep since the first few seasons that is centred around his character, sam. but also dude the show hasn't been about sam in a long long time. anyway here we begin to see some differences between the two actors. people laughed around about the two falling out.

then jared announced he was rebooting the texas ranger thing, walker, with the cw and. how to put it in a nice way. it appeals more to republicans? the dude saw ice put kids in a cage and went "what about the ice agent?" which. yeah. i know he talked about inviting jensen on that project and jensen refusing. nevertheless jared was still talking about letting him direct an ep or something. ngl, i had completely forgotten about walker.

in the meantime, jensen and his wife danneel bought the rights to spn and built his own company, chaos machine production (what a fitting name). if he had to say something about spn, he never talked about anything after 15x18, and basically disappeared from social media, only to post a selfie every two months so people knew he was still alive. he also got casted in the boys, a superhero series.

and today, the bomb dropped: jensen, danneel, and robbie thompson (the spn writer who actually knows how to write women and who wrote the destiel confession and tried to include other queer characters and to do a spin-off with the ladies that got refused) are discussing about the script for a spn prequel about the winchester parents, john and mary, and that it would be narrated by dean. (now i have my own opinion concerning the parents' story and it was already explored in spn itself, so i'm not sure where the fuck do they want to go?)

jared found out through twitter and was not very happy about it. i'm gonna link posts about the tweets he posted. he did not take it very well that he and his character weren't involved, and that jensen did not even tell him about it. some people highlight that nowadays you cannot talk about what you are doing for fear to spoil or have your project spoiled, so it would be reasonable for jensen not to say anything about it. and it was just. a script. there's no pilot, they are only talking about the script rn.

so jared had his little public meltdown on twitter, jensen stayed silent, danneel did not respond to jared but she did reply to people on instagram, and robbie thompson retweeted one of his old tweets saying "i <3 spn family" after jared literally told him "et tu brute." misha collins, who played cas my beloved, and old cast members joked about returning in that prequel (as their characters, angels and a nearly immortal witch, have existed before sam's and dean's births. also technically speaking dean and cas have time-travelled twice to that time already in the series. i do not remember about sam but if he did it in his parents' timeline it was only once? i'm not even sure? but please do not make me rewatch just for that)

in conclusion jared's pr team has had work to do, twitter is a PUBLIC plateform and one should not go there to pick bones with one's former staff and co-star, and jensen is silent. also for once the whole fandom is united to say: what the fucking hell is that idea jensen. not for the same reasons but hey. beggars can't be choosers etc. my friend who watched spn too plans to watch the prequel in the sole goal that it lasts longer than walker. i just want to be free and for spn to end. but spn looks like it's entering its 17th season </3

Anon, I am deeply grateful that you asked, but I must warn you that this is LONG (16+ arcs long and that’s because I havent conceptualized the others yet) and i am only sending you pt.1 Be warned.

Deviation from canon:

· Anything involving the aliens is dropped

· Algos island won’t be a gas station, but an actual fucking island

· The Voice is spiritual in nature.

· The Old is New scene occurs around Book 5

· Trellis eventually gets some fractions of his memories, but I dunno how yet

· The Resistance at Frontera won’t be THE Resistance but the Elven resistance – they refused contact with the human resistance because they’re very discriminatory and hostile. The ER is composed of the researchers/engineers/etc and their kids that the Elf King failed to purge when they revolted once they fully realized that they are actually creating weapons of mass destruction

· Emily gets trapped in the Void

· There’s a whole lot more, but I can’t recall all of them

Note: Do take that these are not yet properly developed. Many of these are ideas I just enjoy playing around with. It WOULD not put much attention to most characters because a.) I haven’t nuanced their roles nor what part they should play in the story and b.) the narrative focuses on Trellis because I’m biased and ngl the potential of the story he could create is a LOT. He has sooo many potential conflicts, be it in self, society, and nature I couldn’t help myself. Also, do take note that this story is meant to be a tragedy – it’s going to explore Trellis and his reign, and the burden and subsequent consequences from it. The narrative doesn’t seek to “punish him” because 90% of the problems he encountered are out of his control and there is barely a perfect solution to anything, so he is bound to create ruthless and even questionable decisions as a result of his inexperience and young age despite his intelligence; all of these I am intrigued to explore about because all of it I just made up lmao.

In addition, my head blurred between what is canon, what I want canon to be, and what you know about the “canon” in my head (which is likely, not a lot because I never post abt it), so I may suddenly spout things that may seem out of context because you guys lack the background behind it. So if you have questions, pls feel free to send them my way. These arcs are INCREDIBLY condensed because if I spout too many details, I’d forget the details in other arcs. So. Yeah.

ARCS

STONEKEEPER TRIALS

- Guardian Council arrives at Algos Island which contains the knowledge to purify the Voice from the Elf King (which should weaken him and thus easier to kill him)

- Stonekeepers of past made sure to put security measure to prove the worthiness of the person seeking said knowledge and using it responsibly for the right reasons by subjecting them to a Trial (they will experience their deepest greatest desires and greatest fears as well)

- Technically, the knowledge isn’t a concrete thing – it only works once per keeper, but it modifies itself to fill in the gaps of the knowledge they lack but seek (so like if youre seeking how to heal, the Temple will give you that knowledge and THAT knowledge only)

- Lacking time, all three decided to take the Trials separately but at the same time.

- This is supposed to be the fic on ao3 is about, even had an outline n all but its too long so I’ll post it later

- tl;dr: Tellis finished first and is the one who gained the knowledge, and Vigo finished second, but Emily isn’t waking up at all. Eventually they all got attacked by the shadows

- Trellis sends Vigo up to get the airship to them as he stays behind to protect Emily from the shadows

- He’s getting super desperate as the enemies increase but Emily isn’t waking up until she suddenly transforms and tries to kill him

- He barely survives but the Firebird gets away. The rest of the crew retrieved him, but when he retells them what happened…

- They didn’t believe him. They think he sabotaged Emily.

BURNING OF IPPO

- It more or less goes the same in Supernova, except the memory thing doesn’t happen and none of the Amulet trusts him except Riva and Vigo. Leon Miskit and Karen are still on Cielis while Navin n Aly are on Frontera but they don’t know that yet.

- So the firebird attacks as usual, but instead of taken out early in the game, he is pushed to the limit protecting the city and its citizens as he’s the only one who can create a barrier while Vigo distracts FB and Riva evacuates the people

- Trellis also bothers to release the elf soldiers in prison when it burns so they would be able to evacuate (will be important)

- He nearly dies from exhausting himself, but manages to repel the FB to leave Ippo alone after much of it is burned. He is devastated by the aftermath because most of the people burned right in front of his eyes (will be important)

- Worried at FB’s destructive power, they argue between pursuing it or ending the war. Riva argues trellis can’t go around protecting every city as its too fast for them, so it leaves only one viable option; end the war as quickly as possible to focus on Emily before she burns everything and kill everyone

- They eventually reunite with the Cielis army, but eventually gets abandoned again alongside the human resistance because they refuse to serve under Trellis, who was going to command the assault

- Lacking an army, the elven, Luciean, and Ippoei soldiers then offers to help

- They reconvene with the ER on Frontera, finally reuniting with Navin, Aly and Pil, who were all horrified by the news. Navin has mixed feelings but ultimately agrees it was his fault and is optimistic Em will be ok. Aly on the other hand is apprehensive but continues to trust him.

- Meanwhile, Vigo departs to convince the CA to change their minds and get more allies, while Trellis, Luger, and the rest forms a plan…

BATTLE OF VALCOR

- Trellis pretends to be captured by Elf Army to get close enough to the Elf King to kill him – avoiding as much bloodshed as possible. Unfortunately, he was decided to be executed before he could confront him so all hell breaks lose as the disguised soldiers ditches their disguises and fights the remaining EA on the king’s side

- Note: Trellis is waaay more powerful and skilled here although his destructive powers are nowhere near Emily’s

- He tries to make his fights as curt and decisive as possible to avoid wasting precious energy for the confrontation (I swear to god the fight sequence is more elaborate in my head but hnng I’m busy rn). Eventually he does make it at the temple of kings – where his father was waiting

- Trellis was nowhere weak, but he barely holds ANY dice against his father’s power and was very close to nearly dying

FALL OF THE KING

- He was saved by the timely intervention of Vigo and Riva – who has finally arrived with the CA (who got threatened into cooperating)

- They barely get the upperhand, but they manage to get Trellis close enough to enact the Scission but, got uphold by the fact that the man they were trying to kill wasn’t dead in the first place but ALIVE

- The Elf King begs Trellis to end it all, the mercy of release, for death, and it horrified him into freezing into place – MISTAKE

- He gets a fatal wound being stabbed because the EK was tricking him (he is alive, but he was not really manipulated by the Voice – He was always evil all along), sneering at his softness that was never quite wrung out by the abuse

- But that also gave Trellis the perfect opportunity to cast the Scission, which he then does at nearly the cost of his own life

- The Voice gets cut off from the EK and retreated to the Void, and the EK dies from his wounds, and Trellis was about to meet the same fate

- All three of them are barely held together by threads, but Vigo uses the last of his power so trellis could survive. At this, Trellis just has a mental breakdown and he doesn’t want to go any further, being so close to his breaking point because of all the horror he has to endure (ohh boii and it doesn get better from here)

- But Riva was pleading for him to get up, get the mask and get to the other side, to show the mask, the soldiers that he WON and Gulfen surrenders and end the war. These two stumble slowly, but steadfastly, Riva practically the only thing supporting Trellis as they try to get to the fighting

- They eventually manage to reach it, but trellis has to stand alone, composed, undefeated, because if it were anything less, people would challenge him. He declares a surrender.

- The battlefield silences. One by one, the weapons drop.

Bro I am a sucker for world building, just read any of my AU's to see that lol. But if you like questions, the the SoH AU, how do they meet each other. I can imagine they all have a common goal it seems, well most, to stop the war and bring peace. But, I can also imagine that they do NOT trust each other.

World building is my absolute JAM! I can honestly do it forever, it’s just really fun crafting societies and worlds for stories to take place in, y’know? ^///^ It’s probably one of the reasons I like D&D so much.

But anyways, yes, you are absolutely correct! Everyone is more or less on the same page, but the main conflict centers around how they interact with each other! Character interaction based stories are my absolute favorites, and the SoH AU is mostly just interpersonal conflict. Can they work together to successfully reunite the kingdoms? Will the courts crush the rebellion before they reach that agreement? Or will they perhaps inadvertently destroy each other in the process? OOooh drama, one of my favorite flavors of it no less. o///o

I’ll give you a general plot run down I guess? Focusing on when they actually meet instead of like, actual plot threads. (This story has way too many layers, but what thing I make doesn’t at this point-) I wasn’t planning on putting tons of thought into this currently, but since you’re curious I’ll tell ya what I’ve got. ^///^

If this were a comic or fic, the story would be broken up into various points of views and basically tell different parts of the story at different times. Eventually everything gets pieced together by the climax, but we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Please note that these notes are out of order, but here’s how each of them eventually meet up:

Janus is the first person to meet everybody in the story at least once, under various different aliases thanks to his shapeshifting ability

He doesn’t approve of a lot of them

Mostly because they either seem unsuited for their cause or completely unwilling to cooperate

He thinks Roman is dangerous

He knows Logan is powerful but untrusting

He thinks Patton is valuable but soft

He and Virgil just flat out don’t get along

Patton and Virgil don’t realize that they’ve met Janus somewhere before when he’s introduced later

Logan and Roman do notice, but don’t really mention it

Well, Roman does, but like, vaguely and ominously for the aesthetic

Janus and Remus met a long long time ago. They’ve known each other for years.

They met in the land of Diamonds, which was strange because Remus is a Clover.

He claims to be a runaway since he was young, though Janus finds that a little odd regardless.

They become pretty decent friends, and eventually skedaddle out of Diamond territory together once Janus gets cursed and is officially branded a traitor to the court

Eventually JOKER is formed and they’ve had eachother’s backs ever since. Though admittedly Janus doesn’t really know a whole lot about Remus in the grand scheme of things.

Remus kind of goes around acting like a wanted criminal very often; he has absolutely no fear

He is in fact Roman’s twin, their parents were of two suits and so they ended up being like that too

Unfortunately that causes a lot of problems when you’re a Clover in the Land of Diamonds, so he ended up being hidden away for safety a lot until he just ran off.

Remus’ core is actually unstable, which is why nobody (Not even himself) can figure out what his rank is

Patton eventually figures that out but he isn’t sure if there was a way to fix that

Honestly Remus thinks it’s super cool like that

He meets Logan by attempting to con him, but it ends up with them getting into an even larger scheme and busting some sort of underground trading ring

Logan thinks he’s insufferable, but a Clover is more bearable than a Diamond any day

Somewhere in the beginning in the Kingdom of Spades Logan comes to the realization of just how corrupt the higher court truly is.

He blows up at a higher ranking official for making clearly lackluster and inefficient decisions to manipulate and twist things in their favor and simultaneously quits and gets exiled for this. (Literally just “You can’t fire me, I quit”)

Well actually the court can’t just let him walk off like that, and basically try to get him assassinated

He realizes something is off and anticipates the ambush, but he’s still terribly outnumbered and gets really wounded, though he manages to escape into Hearts territory where he collapses in the snow and gets found by Patton

Patton’s workshop is in a really obscure alleyway, and there’s metal cuff latched onto his right wrist. He’s basically under house arrest for his history of trying to harbor fugitives.

He finds Logan during an outing and takes him in like a good Samaritan of course

Logan is still in his scholarly robes and so he’s instantly identifiable as a Spade, not that Patton wouldn’t find out regardless but still

Patton heals his wounds as best he can while Logan rests, since he was out in the snow for quite a while

Logan bolts up and almost causes a scene when he finally wakes, and Patton has to convince him he won’t turn him in to the high court

They don’t get along the best until Logan lowers his guard a little and figures out a way for Patton to escape house arrest (He fiddles with the bracelet along with Patton’s soul smithing abilities, not going in to the science of that rn)

Logan stays with Patton while he figures out his next course of action

He admittedly respects Patton’s profession and finds it very interesting, since the Spade court lacks a lot of info on the matter

Virgil has actually dueled Janus on a few occasions, and the main reason is mostly just because they don’t get along. He finds the man untrustworthy, which is a fair assessment ngl.

He meets Remus under better circumstances

They meet one day while Virgil is on patrol, since Remus is a Clover he’s the one in charge of doing errands in Clover territory

They get along alright and Virgil admits to him that he doesn’t think the high courts are doing what’s right for the people

Remus uses that opportunity to kind of nudge him into doing rebellion stuff, which Virgil actually declines

He does set out on a personal quest soon after though, and resigns from his position as a guard

It raises a few suspicions in the court, and a lot of people were against his choice, but Virgil was firm and he left before anyone could say anything more

He meets Logan somewhere down the line in Hearts territory with Patton, they’re pretty snippy with each other in the beginning

The three stay together at Patton’s for a while and are almost busted twice before deciding to leave

Patton stays at first but eventually he joins their plans to rebel and save the people, since he knows how much they’ve been suffering under the court’s rule

Roman gets a few visits sprinkled in various parts of the story

He meets Janus rather early, who visits him to ask for his assistance

It doesn’t work out very well

Janus is challenged to a duel, but because of the curse inflicted on him he was in no condition to fight a King ranked individual

He promises to find Roman a suitable opponent, to which Roman agrees to help the cause if Janus manages to do so

Virgil kind of stumbles upon his castle while travelling and gets roped into a bizarre tea party where Roman just kind of complains to him the whole time

Roman doesn’t take the Jack seriously but he enjoys company regardless

They quip a lot and kind of become friends, and Roman leaves him with some ominous words about the future and bids him farewell

Somewhere down the line Logan goes to formally challenge Roman to a duel, and they have quite possibly the most ridiculous and wild fight that ends in half of Roman’s castle in rubble and the Diamond court having a massive collective headache

Logan earns Romans respect and they settle stuff over tea

And those are my scattered and bare bone ideas written for you at 2:20 AM in the morn. o///o

rewatching tgm for the umpteenth time: wifi's not working edition 1/?

ngl i've Never, In My LIFE, done any singing or acting outside of puppet shows when i was in like the 3rd grade but every time i watch TGM i'm more and more like "GOD i wanna be cast as Barkilphedro" and i don't even know why? like why would i want to be the greasy clown nasty? He has No Rights? I Don't Like Him Or Sympathize With Him At All? And Yet???? It must be a calling.

ngl Barkilphedro has No Rights and he gets No Sympathy from me but i do feel sorry for him when he talks about his mother. also sucks for him that he wasted so much time hoping his loyalty to Clarence would pay off, only to get nothing but mockery in return. also also as 'comical' as the Erotic Breakfast Dance scene is played it's still...really gross and Not Okay. This dude's 100% culpable for his actions and he made his own choices and is absolutely slimy but it's like those bits in LotR when they talk about Bilbo pitying Gollum. idk i just kinda hate that ol' Barky let himself be twisted into such a wretched creature. He crossed the No Rights line the night he decided to carve up a kid's face tho and just kept right on going.

okay so i've seen some comments around about Clarence's "How do you keep your pecker up" remark and just thought i'd- dude's fingernails. wow they're so shiny. ahem -mention here that i've looked into this expression before and it's actually a term that i guess is mainly used in England or something and it's like nose = beak = 'pecker' as in birds which ‘peck’ things with their beaks. It's basically the same as "keep your chin up". Snufkin says it to Moomin. I mean with Clarence i wouldn't put it past him to mean it another way but also given where the show is set it makes sense he would use such a term.

ngl i want to Know about Angelica tho like. why is she Brutalized. why did Clarence send her awaey. i actually want to know about the whole family. I feel like it's a three separate moms situation but even if it's only two separate moms Where Are The Moms. did Clarence send Them awaey too? Did one or more of them Die? Were they Killed? oh god what if it's like in Light Princess and he actually Had (one of/)Them Executed. I think it's interesting that Clarence Lorded Dirry-Moir. we don't get to know about how he treated Josiana, but none of his kids even turn up to his funeral and the only one who talks about him at all only does so to denounce him.

someone wanted me to go through all the questions so //cracks knuckles

1: What inspired you to write the fic this way?

dunno what ‘this way’ specifically means, but I tried reenacting the way a lot of my fav fics have been, in way of word count per chapter, character interaction, plot balanced w/ the ship, ect

2: What scene did you first put down?

Maaan, it’s hard to remember what came first now. I have a doc thats like, 20 pages of just notes & me outlining the plot and world building. The first scene written on that doc is lloyd revealing his identity to the team, which actually happens about a year before the start of the story!

3: What’s your favorite line of narration?

hmmmm, I’m a sucker for when the narration contradicts the dialogue- I just think it’s really funny, pfft. can’t think of any large scenes I do that in rn, but I also really like this bit, during the city hall meeting The woman sitting at the corner chair closest to the ninja shifted in her seat, and stared pointedly at Kai and Jay. Kai tried not to shift under her stare, but he could feel Jay stiffen next to him. “You two saved Satoshi the night King’s was attacked, right?” Kai’s mouth was immediately dry and his brain cut out. Her voice wasn’t loud, but compared to the silence before, she might as well have fired a gun. The question itself was straightforward enough, but Kai hesitated to answer - first, because Green ordered them not to speak, and second, he had no idea what she was talking about. I try to keep Kai a reliable narrator (aka I project a lot) and I feel like this part is funny for first-time readers, bc you get the feeling of “do I know who that is??? Did I forget?” then kai confirms it like “who tf”

4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

Kai looked up from their hands to meet Jay’s eyes, all warmth and kindness. “I dunno. I’ve only know you for a month, but I still feel as close to you as I do any of them.”

5: What part was hardest to write?

GOD ALL OF THE FIGHT SCENES,,, this fic was so ambitious oh my god. That’s part of why the final chapter is taking a lot longer than normal- big fight scene ;v; also the meeting with the mayor was difficult to write bc like, I dont know shit about how city government works. My search history for the time I was writing that scene looked like I was researching for an essay, christ.

6: What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?

I’m finishing it :,3

7: Where did the title come from?

real honesty hours: I thre in the bit about Kai giving Jay his earbuds on impulse. I never planned for them to be a reoccurring symbolic plot device or for them to even exist but damn, here we are.

8: Did any real people or events inspire any part of it?

My relationship with my brother def inspires how I write Kai & Nya. I say that I project onto kai a lot, but I project all of my ‘trans younger sibling’ energy onto Nya. ngl, most everything I’ve done in this fic was inspired by batman tho

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

Yeah, I have around 3 scrapped scenes. I’ll probably never release them, bc they were scrapped for a reason :,3

10: Why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?

Kai & Jay are the most boring out of the four boys :, ) so I figure’d it’d be easiest to fit their charters into the plot I had in mind, I couldn’t think of any way to fit in the “zane’s a robot” or “cole literally died” plot into it without making the entire story about those things. If I was made out of time tho, you bet earbuds would be a polyninja story.

11: What do you like best about this fic?

I honestly just like that I’ve gotten as far as I have into it, and the perception that its gotten has been so incredible //sobs. Aside from that, my favorite parts about it are probably Kai & Nya/Lloyd’s relationship, and also that Nya is trans. I hadn’t seen any fics where she was trans before, and tbfh its my favorite headcanon. I’ll never write a cis nya in my life

12: What do you like least about this fic?

The relationship build up seems kinda... eh? I definitely should've put more into it, but at the same time I feel like I did as much as I could with it, just bc I’m so inexperienced with that stuff. I also with I could do a better job of conveying the vibe that I want this version of ninjago to give off (gritty, rough, gotham) but without being super edgy about it? Also I’m really upset that Cole & Zane are getting shafted in Earbuds. I should’ve come up with more stuff to include them, but everything I came up with just felt forced, so they ended up just being background characters- which is was more than they deserve, bc they’re honestly my favorite boys on the team.

13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?

Well, there’s always the 8tracks playlist I made a while back (should transfer that onto spotify sometime) but theres a couple songs that I think fit the characters super well that aren’t on the list • “Fresh Eyes” is a super great Kai&Jay song QwQ “so suddenly I’m in love with a stranger / I can’t believe she’s mine / now all I see is you with fresh eyes” From Kai’s pov @ jay??? hell • “Better days” was a song rec sent in by my good bud hedley-ramsay anon, and it’s perfect for Kai’s POV, as he’s trying to stay optimistic about all the shit thats happening around him “Guess I didn't break it, but I bent it / I know I didn't say it, but I meant it / I shoulda had a little more heart and soul” • “Miss Atomic Bomb” is very very good for Lloyd & Harumi. tbh its a good song for them in canon too, but the dark city vibe it gives off fits so well with the Earbuds AU. “I was new in town, the boy with the eager eyes / I never was a quitter, oblivious to schoolgirls' lies” • “Be Still” is also a super great song for lloyd, in this au and just in general. “Be still / wild and young / long may your innocence reign” DONT CALL ME OUT I REALLY LIKE THE KILLERS

14. Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?

not... really? its a fanfiction about legos, I dunno if there’s any lesson to be learned from it. Be gay & do crimes

15. What did you learn from writing this fic?

writing fanfic is super rewarding & fun!! It’s a pretty pig time sink sometimes, but damn if yall don’t make it worth it.

anyway here we go, spoilers ahoy! under a cut because Long and also i’m not sure how many of you even follow this fic

SO like how in canon Keith wasn’t ready to be the black paladin of voltron when Shiro went missing at the end of s2, in OMHCV Keith just isn’t ready to take care of a child. shiro is supportive either way, but that’s the bottom line. like, Keith might be a good dad (probably would be if he chose to take that route) but he still has a lot of issues with abandonment and What Happened During His Upbringing that need to be dealt with, and he knows that on some level.

so, yeah... he’s giving up the Little Alien.

but! this is not the end! like his arc in s6, Keith is going to have some development and see a few things resolved in the next two fics that will definitely help him figure out everything else!

in the next ‘installment’, i guess we’ll call it, the major plot sequence is a lawsuit against Zarkon and his company, which gets filed near the end of OMHCV (though House Voltron doesn’t know this is happening). the suit will go to trial around january/february of the next year, just after the Little Alien is born, and it’ll involve all the shady people and shady deals that Zarkon is involved with. this includes the Galra--the people that Keith’s dad got in trouble with before Keith was born and the main reason why Keith was raised the way he was. Keith is going to come face-to-face with his dad again after a long time in the system (paralleling how he and krolia meet in canon) and he’ll have to deal with a lot of mental health issues that stemmed from how he and his dad lived.

ngl, the second Big Fic is going to be hard on Keith. and everyone, but... especially Keith. he’s gonna have to go backward a bit before he can move forward. i don’t have eeeverything planned but i do have a few big arcs and i know it’s going to be.... hm. angstier than OMHCV? i don’t have a real gauge for How Much angstier but... it will have ups and downs but mostly downs. just like... a lot of downs. but good news! matt is gonna show up!

now, the third Big Fic is... more amorphous at the moment? it’s mostly still just a collection of ideas and it’ll definitely be influenced by s7/8 when they come out. i’ve been thinking for a long time about how i want to tackle the Operation Kuron situation in this series and i had a Very Sad Idea a while ago and... i think i’m just gonna do it, tbh.

SO the idea is that Shiro gets in another accident, right? and hits his head again. and it’s kind of his journey through recovery, but also it’s an in-depth look at the symptoms that he has to deal with and how unreliable his mind gets after dealing with a second round of trauma. i’ve heard that in canon Shiro had a chronic illness of some kind, so depending on how that goes down that might get tied in. it won’t be strictly Shiro POV because he’s going to be a pretty unreliable narrator (more than he is now, anyway) for the duration of the fic. also, lotor is going to get involved.

a big part of that last installment is going to be Keith and Allura taking lead in the House and helping Shiro find his feet again while also carving out their own paths. and of course, the other kids are going to be working and learning, too. i think at this point the only one not old enough to leave the nest will be Pidge so it will be partly about how everyone decides to move forward--if they want to leave to pursue schooling and careers away from home, possibly reconnecting with their own pasts as they go, or if they can find a way to do whatever they want to do while also juggling stuff at the House. the whole family might also move out of House Voltron in a parallel to how they lost the castle in s6! and, as things shake up, i think that Keith is going to get more involved in the Little Alien’s life. he probably won’t try to get custody back, but he’ll be there for the little guy. since he got to House Voltron he’s been learning how to Be Steady and Stay The Course--he’s learning how to be a permanent presence in people’s lives and he’s going to put that into action starting with Shiro and extending to everyone else, including the Little Alien.

....ngl it’s going to be sad. i make myself sad thinking about all the character arcs and events coming in the future for these guys. i thought that i’d end OMHCV on a high note and then after that it would just be nothing but found family Fluff but... apparently i’m not capable of doing that so.

if you want to get english class about it, which i always do because i’m an incredible nerd, then the big picture is this: OMHCV is about cohesion, the Second Big Fic is about stability, and the Third Big Fic is about persistence. those are the major themes, you could say, strung together with a motif of family bonds and found family. the biggest counter-themes would then be conflict, as seen in the way that the members of House Voltron fight and struggle against each other and themselves as they come together as a family in the First Fic; uncertainty, as Keith and Shiro struggle to bridge the gap between the past and the present in the Second Fic in order to find stable ground and move forward again; and discontinuity, as everyone faces the changes occurring to House Voltron as the kids all come of age and Shiro deals with his own mental and physical health.

OMHCV: conflict vs. cohesion

Second Fic: uncertainty vs. stability

Third Fic: discontinuity vs. persistence

which... is kind of how it’s gone in canon, tbh? the first season is team voltron finding cohesion, seasons two through ~five are keith (and, separately, team voltron) trying to find stability, and season six finishes up with Keith’s persistence in saving Shiro and protecting voltron, which i’m ASSUMING will carry through to the next season or so, finishing up with victory.

and like... i don’t think there will be a real moment of decisive victory in the House Voltron series simply because the war they’re fighting is just life, you know? but even so, i’m hoping that there will be something good waiting for them on the other side of all this. even if it is just all of them, together as a family.
