A little rant about the popular app game Obey Me!

I honestly wasn't going to post this, but after much deliberation and spending an entire day being annoyed... Here it is. Here we go.

Let me first start by saying that everyone is entitled to their own thoughts, opinions, and feelings. This is just me stating my personal take on things.

As we know, a new event has just started called Steampunk Shenanigans. And no surprise... Lucifer is the chosen demon for the newest obtainable UR card.

I have some things to say about this. Or rather, some things to say about the posts I've been seeing in regards to this information.

I do agree that Lucifer is clearly the favored brother. He has more UR cards than any of the other characters, which is not ideal for those of us who aren't serious Lucifer simps.

Personally, out of every Obey Me! character introduced thus far... Mammon is my top favorite. He has been my favorite from the very beginning, and always will be. Though I also favor Satan, Leviathan, Diavolo, and yes : Lucifer. (I also love the other characters as well, of course.)

With that being said, it would be nice if the other brothers and "side" characters could take the spotlight and get more UR cards. Maybe give them the opportunity to catch up to Lucifer?

So I totally understand why people are complaining about that. Trust me, I do.

However... I saw a few posts last night on another popular social media site (I won't say which one since I'm not going to call anyone out) that have caused my inner wrath to slowly bubble to the surface.

One of those posts voiced a user's complaint about the new event and yet another Lucifer UR card. And understandably so. But what I cannot understand is when that post went on to say something along the lines of how the devs "require" players to pay $400 for a card and how the devs "forced" them to quit the game.

I'm sorry.... What? lol

No one is "forcing" you to do anything. You aren't "required" to spend a single penny in Obey Me! That is entirely your choice.

I have been playing Obey Me! since the beginning. No VIP membership for me. No real world money spent. And I'm perfectly happy with the game overall.

Do I get frustrated and upset when I grind the game to slowly accumulate Demon Vouchers only to waste all of them just for the chance to pull new UR/UR+ cards in new Nightmare events, only to get a bunch of the same old cards I already have? Of course. But that's a gacha game for you. It's virtual gambling that's all based on luck. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

That's just life.

And when it comes to the actual events... So what if you don't get the new UR cards right away? Those same events will be featured in Lonely Devil later on, where you'll have the chance to get them then. No big deal.

But here's where the real problem lies : the person who made that post had also posted several months ago about how they had to have every single Lucifer card, no exceptions. They went into a detailed explanation about how they spent countless Devil Points, Demon Vouchers, and real life money in order to get every Lucifer card. And that explanation was posted right after another new Lucifer card was announced. Because that person was upset over the fact that they felt the necessity to do everything within their power to get that card as well.

I also saw another person claim in a separate post that they spent over $2,000 USD in a little over 2 months just to get Lucifer UR cards.

Which leads me back to my original point : that's your own choice.

If you have zero impulse control and no patience to wait for the chance to obtain UR/UR+ cards of Lucifer, that's on you. If you have a spending problem or a gambling addiction, that's something you need to recognize and address for your own well-being. But don't blame the devs.

I may get a lot of backlash for this, but I just want to say... To make the comment "congrats devs, you're forcing one of your biggest players to quit" just because you're sick of making the conscious decision to spend a ton of money to get the 34th virtual card of your favorite character in a game because you "have to have it".... That's the equivalent of a spoiled child throwing a temper tantrum because they can't have six new toys instead of just five. It reminds me of old episodes of South Park, where Cartman would come off with his famous "screw you guys, I'm going home" line.

It's literally just a game. Simmer down.

You say the devs are being "unfair". But what's truly unfair is you blaming the devs for your lack of money management and poor self control. It's not their fault you're choosing to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a game for virtual cards you don't actually need. So to say "you're making one of your biggest players quit"... Haha... okay. You may be a "big" player, but there are lots of even bigger players than you that will continue to actively play Obey Me! on a daily basis.

I hate to rain on that person's parade, but one player choosing to walk away from the game isn't going to matter much. They're just one tiny ripple in a vast ocean. And if they feel differently, I suspect a bit of a superiority complex.

But that's just me, what do I know? lol

On another note, I keep seeing all these posts talking about how everyone should take to Twitter to boycott Obey Me! and complain to the devs.... Are you serious?

I completely and wholeheartedly understand if people want the other brothers and characters to get new UR/UR+ cards. I get it, truly I do. Because I feel the same way, I'd love to see more UR cards of Mammon, Satan, Levi, Beel, Belphie, Asmo, and everyone else. In fact, I would LOVE to see entirely new events solely dedicated to each individual character/brother with brand new UR/UR+ cards only for that respective character.

But stamping your feet and puffing out your chests at the devs isn't the way to accomplish that. That's just a good way to completely ruin an overall enjoyable game for everyone else who is satisfied with what they're given. Seriously.

I deeply apologize if this post comes across as rude or hostile, that's honestly not my intention at all. Again, I'm not looking to call anyone out which is why I didn't mention any names, usernames, or specific sites where these comments were originally posted. I also don't expect anyone to agree with me, nor am I looking for any sort of arguments or confrontations (as I already stated... everyone is entitled to their own thoughts and opinions, myself included)

These thoughts have just been swarming around in my head for the past 24+ hours, and I needed to let them out.

One final noteworthy detail : I think the main reason why I'm so annoyed is that these comments have been made by fellow adults about a game

So... Let that sink in.
