Calling for a lot of context sonnet hours. Text of image under cut.
18. Goblins
The apples might hold razors, so you’re told
Though how they’re pushed through the unbroken skin—
A mystery. The point: stick with what’s sold
In wrappers, free from danger (free from sin).
A peach might pull you from your narrow way;
To take a single grape opes monsters’ eyes,
Or traps you in some eerie world to stay.
(Oh, can you taste half-truths? Can you taste lies?)
The sweetest offer you will ever get
Is held in strangers’ hands across the line
From human. And you choose if it’s worth it.
(See life, color, grotesquerie. Say, “mine!”)
You might yourself be sweet and strange and rare
And no’s a note of fear, so—do you dare?

Storm
-Wilfred Owen (1893-1918)
His face was charged with beauty as a cloud
With glimmering lightning. When it shadowed me,
I shook, and was uneasy as a tree
That draws the brilliant danger, tremulous, bowed.
-
So must I tempt that face to loose it’s lightning.
Great gods, whose beauty is death, will laugh above,
Who made his beauty lovelier than love.
I shall be bright with their unearthly brightening.
-
And happier were it if my sap consume;
Glorious will shine the opening of my heart;
The land shall freshen that was under gloom;
What matter if all men cry out and start,
And women hide their faces in their shawl,
At those hilarious thunders of my fall?

Spilled Inktober, 10.31.23 “November Nears”
Before the coming clock strikes twelve By hand be made, by hand undone All best things come to an end Great balls, great falls like books upon the shelve Carriages, marriages, all good things end In death or dearth, wishes bend in rippled ponds Stuck on the steps, or depths, such hullabaloo How can the story, the lovers, make any amends? Within the hour, October is over, Come to its close Pumpkins to pies, and history’s lies Reread the stories, now comes November Before the veil bids farewell and bows to curtain call Enjoy this coming feast, good neighbor, make use the last of fall

kinktober day 1: restraints/shibari rating: m words: 494 ship: tav (sonnet)/enver gortash
"Keep still." Though softly spoken, the words contained a note of implicit authority. Sonnet did as she was told.
The silk cord slid across the skin of her wrists, cool and smooth, in stark contrast to the feeling of Gortash's hands, warm where they brushed against her flesh.  Those hands manipulated her limbs, holding her arms crossed behind her as he knotted her wrists together, before moving up to wrap the cord around her chest, tying her upper arms tight against her body.
He moved slowly, deliberately, creating a harness of crossed cords and expertly tied knots that reached from her neck to her hips.  Diamonds of cord looped around her naked breasts, tying back into the knots that bound her arms, before traveling down to cross her ribs and belly, looping around her thighs and between her legs.
Tentatively, she shifted, wiggling her fingers, testing the bonds.  They gave not at all, each loop and knot tied with a practiced hand, binding her in some tangled embrace. His hands brushed across her skin, the sharp talons of his gauntlet tracing her throat, her collarbones, the lines of cord that embraced her figure.  There was an affection to it, a gentleness; the way one might look fondly upon a finished project.  He took pride in his work.
"Perfect," He murmured, though he seemed to be speaking more to the quality of his knotwork, than about her.  His gaze raked across her, dark eyes flashing with undisguised desire.
Her own desire heightened with every breath she took; the cords tight around her digging into her flesh with every minute movement, every too-deep breath and shift of her muscles.  It pooled in her belly, warm and tight and ever so welcome.
This was, she thought, a new experience for her.  As a rule, she had never allowed clients to restrain her; a preference brought on from pure self-preservation - she couldn’t cast if she couldn’t move her hands, after all.  But she found she didn’t mind it now, or perhaps it was just that she didn’t mind it from him.
Gortash hooked one gauntleted finger beneath the knot that rested over her collarbones, using it like a leash to pull her forward.  She leaned into it, bare skin pressed against him, her cheek resting against his shoulder.  Her tail swished slowly through the air behind her, curling to wrap around their bodies; her own form of an embrace.
He chuckled softly above her, tugging again on the knotted cord.  She followed after him, small, quick steps as he led her to stand beside his desk.  He stood her there, arranged her the way one might arrange a centerpiece on a table. “I have a mind to keep you like this a while longer, dove.”  He settled back in his chair, chin cupped thoughtfully in his hand. “I have work to do, and you,” He reached out, fingertips brushing her thigh, “Make for a lovely image like this.”

I am trying not to lie to you, trying not to say I am a body that breaks into blossom whenever I see horses, like James Wright famously wrote. I once believed in the psalmic line, which is one way to get out of one’s self; alcohol is another.

TW: Imagine the heart attack Ghost, Price an Konig will have once you introduce them to vapo rub
- -
The change in seasons definitely affected something in everyone. You always made one thing incredibly clear to him;
Season allergies are a bitch.
He had picked up movement from the corner of his eye at one point, unaware you had trodded out of your warm bed when he snuck off to make something hot to combat October’s chill.
By the time he turned around, you tugged off a folded comforter from the couch’s armrest and settled in on the cushions. A makeshift cocoon, a blanket consisting of oversized yarn tied into decorative knots you had bought from an overpriced store, hiding the body of his lovely person underneath.
With such a unique ability to move quietly, you’d make an incredible assassin in his book.
You didn’t respond when he asked if you wanted tea diluted with copious amounts of sweet honey, or cider. You didn’t move when he carried two steaming mugs, settling them down on the coffee table.
“Hun,” He nudged your shoulder. “Open those eyes. C’mon, you’ve got to tell me how awful I made your drink. Can’t start my day without it.”
Nothing. Not a peep.
The couch slouches with his weight as he sits, strong hands maneuvering to settle along your hip.
“Babe.” He gently shakes your arm with more effort, watching those pretty lashes flutter once you decided to open them.
“Hm?” You finally reply, like a little church mouse.
“C’mere.” His hands gently cradle along your thighs, a rumbled grunt emitting from his chest as he hauls you to sit up. Your sniffles become uneven sonnets, your body trembling like a leaf barely clinging to its dead branch on a dying autumn tree.
“Poor little thing,” he hums, a calloused hand cradling your very warm, very flushed cheek. “Why didn’t you stay in bed? Was barely gone five minutes.”
You pitifully shrug, hanging your head like a guilty child. He clicks his tongue, shaking his head in both amusement and mock disappointment.
With as little to no effort, he slips an arm under your buckled knees and torso, raising you up from the couch, in your expensive chenille blanket.
“Alright, c’mon. Back to bed. I’ll get ya some more Benadryl to help you sleep.”
Not to knock on wood, but if he gets sick after you, he knows your ciders will be heavenly. Especially with a splash of something strong to clear those airways.

could you write some boyfriend headcanons for megumi? sfw
boyfriend!megumi headcanons
a/n: i hope i delivered to your liking <3
Tumblr media
☆ . . . dating megumi would feel like the crisp october air whirling throughout your lungs. soon you hear the chilled wind singing a tune as the red, yellow, and orange leaves join in; you feel at peace like a warm knitted quilt rest upon your shoulders.
☆ . . . you would have to confess first, he’s aware theres some unspoken tension that lingers whenever you two are in the same vicinity but he doesn’t exactly know how to approach you on the subject without feeling like a complete fool.
☆ . . . once he gets comfortable with you though he’s totally a cheeky little bastard.
☆ . . . for the first few months of the relationship megumi would prefer to be secretive and sneak around with you … the closest thing you’ll get affection-wise in public is linking pinkies or him drawing patterns on your thigh under a table when nobody is looking.
☆ . . . around the fourth or fifth month he’ll feel ready to go public (tell yuji and nobara) he’ll ask like a hundred times if you were ready as well and if you weren’t he’d have no problem with waiting.
☆ . . . i could see him with a partner who he shares the same vaules and philosophies with. he wouldn’t go out of his way to personally seek an extroverted s/o but he can find himself gravitating towards people with bubbly/outgoing personalities.
☆ . . . megumi is a quiet lover, choosing to express his affections through gestures rather than words.
☆ . . . spotify/apple music playlists are his go-to !!! i hc that he’s super into poetry so the playlist name would be a shorten quote of a sonnet or poem that reminds him of you.
☆ . . . once a month you guys pick out books for each other to read and annotate (his idea.) he gives you a nonfiction or thriller book while you always give him a romance book.
☆ . . . his annotations will either vary from vague one liners like “nice” and “cool quote” or two to three lines of why the protagonist shouldn’t have forgiven the love interest so quickly.
☆ . . . you know that movie trope where someone says “i’m definitely not gonna do that thing” and the scene immediately cuts to them doing that exact thing? yeah that’s megumi when it comes to doing facemasks.
☆ . . . he’ll be sooo reluctant but as soon as you smear the watermelon cucumber clay mask on his face he practically purrs like a kitten. he’s relaxed and happy to have a lil pampering day with you.
☆ . . . he’s more of a listener than a talker, whenever you’re reciting your day to him or rambling about a new show his gaze is so intense and stern you’d think he’s mad at you or not paying attention.
☆ . . . he assures that he was listening and that he’s always listening to you regardless of what you talk about.
☆ . . . he loves to hold you and be held !! it took him some time to ease into the physical aspect of a relationship like cuddles and kisses but he grew accustomed soon with some reassurance.
☆ . . . his favourite cuddle position is where your head rest on his chest with his arms securely wrapped around your waist as your legs are all tangled up together.
☆ . . . all in all, dating megumi is overall a tranquil and lovely experience, you’ll feel loved and cherished everyday you’re with him, even if his actions aren’t explicit he tries his very best to make you happy with the little things.

🤍 ‿The sweet tenderness I get when you're everso closely to me is as if I'm filled with inner tranquility. It's a notion of time frozen. You take my breath away each time I hear your voice. It uplifts me above the clouds. You don't realize the effect your aphrodisiac voice has upon me. It lures me into you. It surrenders every centimeter of my being. Followed by your lips whenever they speak my name. How I wish I was bound to your lips murmuring my name. How I wish I was the very essence of your fingertips stroking my hair locks. How I wish I was the clothes that draped over your body for they get to caress you. I'm jealous of them for the only clothes your body should wear are my hands caressing you. I'm jealous of the sunshine that gets to ravage you as you step into the light. I'm jealous of the raindrops kissing you as they fall upon your face. I'm jealous of the sunsets embracing you into their gleam. I'm jealous of those who get to speak to you before I do. I'm solely jealous because I long to be forevermore for you. You captured my heart & soul solely by being you, my darling horizon. You drifted into my life with a warning & you swept me off my feet with your intelligence, your aphrodisiac voice, which rendered the moment you spoke my name. I surrendered to your touch, which has me in a trance. I need it like a lost child without. I'm lost without you. I need your taste upon my lips. I need your breaths for you've become the oxygen that nourishes my body. You've become my entire existence. Without you, life doesn't make sense. Frozen in time, the ice solely melts whenever we're together as one. "Sonnet of Souls" embedded into one. Only You. Only US. Only our love!⁀🤍

See what’s on the slab sonnet hours. Text of image under cut.
16. Scientist
It’s dirty business, in your clean white coat,
But you’ve long since ceased to care. It’s too late
To stop. You’re in a castle with a moat,
For fuck’s sake. In the tower you await
The final lightning strike. It was only
A question needing an answer, and now?
I understand. It’s hard to be lonely
And once you’ve cleared the crooked path to how—
Strap on your goggles. Flip all the switches.
Spark up the Jacob’s ladders, Tesla coils,
All the weird machines that scratch your itches—
And go on, laugh, as clouds above do roil
For you, I want two hearts to beat tonight
I confess, though it’s still so far from right.

Northanger Abbey Readthrough, Ch 1
Welcome to the Northanger Abbey Readthrough, October 2023! I will be posting one chapter per day, which will take us right to Halloween. This readthrough does contain spoilers, because I can't help myself.
We begin with the advertisement from the author, who is clearly annoyed that her first novel was purchased and then not published.
That any bookseller should think it worth-while to purchase what he did not think it worth-while to publish seems extraordinary.
While Jane Austen notes that books have changed, by which I assume she means the popularity of some of the novels referenced, I am pleased to inform you that Anthony Trollope mentioned Mrs. Radcliff and The Mysteries of Udolpho in his 1987 novel, Barchester Towers! Even the veil! So clearly the novels she was satirizing had not yet gone out of style.
On to the story! Catherine Morland is so very normal. The most normal girl ever. She also isn't an orphan, both her parents are living which the narrator points out is very hard for a heroine (lol). She doesn't really like lessons and she likes running around and rolling down hills.
She never could learn or understand anything before she was taught; and sometimes not even then, for she was often inattentive, and occasionally stupid.
Catherine's indifference to flowers will come up later, but this line is also funny in a forbidden fruit way:
Indeed she had no taste for a garden; and if she gathered flowers at all, it was chiefly for the pleasure of mischief—at least so it was conjectured from her always preferring those which she was forbidden to take.
This is a great description of an older sibling (I like to think this describes me as an older sister):
very kind to the little ones, with few interruptions of tyranny
And her family is so good and normal too! Her mom seems to have some good parenting practices:
She learnt a year, and could not bear it; and Mrs. Morland, who did not insist on her daughters being accomplished in spite of incapacity or distaste, allowed her to leave off.
The Morland family seems like a strong contrast to the Bennets, both of them employing no governess. We learn that the Morlands are actively invested in their children's education (unlike the Bennets):
Writing and accounts she was taught by her father; French by her mother: her proficiency in either was not remarkable, and she shirked her lessons in both whenever she could.
And even though the older girls are left to "shift for themselves", Mrs. Morland, who is both poorer and has double the children, can be more easily excused for some neglect. She sounds like a slave to the children's education, unlike Mrs. Bennet!
Catherine, a tomboy, begins to become interested in more feminine pursuits, but she does not transform into a great beauty or an accomplished young lady. Her achievements are similar to those of the ordinary person:
So far her improvement was sufficient—and in many other points she came on exceedingly well; for though she could not write sonnets, she brought herself to read them; and though there seemed no chance of her throwing a whole party into raptures by a prelude on the pianoforte, of her own composition, she could listen to other people’s performance with very little fatigue.
Catherine is just the most relatable heroine ever! She's adequate. She's reasonably intelligent, passingly pretty, a true Every Woman. And really, the whole novel is full of so many small human moments that hit just as hard as the more dramatic ones from other novels (Lucy telling Elinor Edward is engaged to her, Louisa falling from the Cobb, Lydia's elopement) because they are things that might happen to anyone. Really wanting to see your crush and instead having to hang out with someone you dislike; not knowing if someone is angry at you or not; and finding out your friend isn't a real friend... Northanger Abbey somehow explores the most ordinary things without making them boring.
Also, while Catherine may seem unintelligent, the girl must have read a lot of Shakespeare, the quotes in this chapter come from Twelfth Night, Measure for Measure, and Othello. I reluctantly read 5 Shakespearean plays in high school, so Catherine is at about par with my education (I like Shakespeare now! I learned to appreciate him in university when I saw a few of the plays in person).
Catherine is also such a happy, bubbly, character. I can really imagine her being "all happiness" when her parents consent to her trip to Bath. We are told Emma Woodhouse has a happy disposition, but we don't see her dancing in her chair all the way home after a fun evening. Catherine really has joy and she comes back quickly from disappointment. She's a really great character to go on a journey with.
I feel like it must be noted, Catherine has to get away from her family to have an adventure because she has good parents. Good parents are exactly what you want to have, but as the narrator points out, they hardly make a good heroine! So the narrator is forced to remove our nascent heroine from her loving home into the dubious care of the Allens (and really they aren't that bad) for her story to begin. This contrasts again with the Bennets, who manage to supply a good deal of the story's conflict all on their own!

Spilled Inktober, 10.30.23 “Penny Snacks”
Thoughts arise within my head After the day, laid up in bed Graven thoughts, craven ill-gots What a trick on the world, money wroughts Door to door, children and men of sales will go With handy bags and totes to throw Quick with words and mask adorned Just as reviled, just as well-scorned Somewhere a moon will rise, arise To unclouded eyes, oh, glistening eyes Yet so my mind, amuck with common cents Counting on change to mend laments There’s always more to have of what some want Taken from others to hoard and flaunt Tricks and treats to count in piles Babble on higher, nonsense stacked miles Linger dreams, as like childhood days Forgotten now, like midday haze
