it is so extremely underutilized that Nico is heavily implied to have powers of just. anything ghosts are reportedly able to do.

we know canonically that he can drop temperatures to freezing/to the point where it creates frost, and does so involuntarily or unknowingly at times. We know he can project emotions and memories out onto others, just in general and with physical force - both his own memories/emotions and general emotions as well, such as radiating an aura onto his enemies so that they would fear him more. We know it's heavily implied he can straight up create illusions and inflict madness upon others. We know he's eerily silent when he moves and seems to just appear in places. We know he can control/walk through/mess with dreams. We know he can become intangible and pass through solid objects and terrain without even realizing it.

like, that alone is so much! but the fact that it's implied that's not it? there's MORE?

Where's Nico fucking with EVPs and speaking through radios or static or TV. Throwing his voice. Nico remotely setting things on and off, or draining batteries, or making cell service fuzz out. Nico totally turning invisible (also a Hades' Helm of Darkness thing, so double reason for Nico to be able to do that). Where's Nico inflicting sleep paralysis. Where's Nico straight up making the walls bleed. Let him do more ghost stuff!

Hi there. I was recently contacted through ouija by Hermes, and told that there was a spirit who needed help getting to the underworld. I've thought about working with Hermes, or worshipping him, but I currently don't due to having worshipped Loki for six months and then figuring out I was worshipping an actual trickster spirit.

I don't think Hermes is tricking me, and I've grown in my craft enough to know-- I want to work in folk magic and spirit work, yes, but I'm scared Hermes is just tricking me, like the imposter 'Loki' did? Thanks for your help.

Ironstrange: Tony thinks the cat is transmutated Stephen. (Spoiler: It is not.)

Stephen walks into the penthouse and has to stop and blink a few times before he’s sure that the scene before him is real. Tony is seated on the floor next to the coffee table. On top of the coffee table is a laptop with a screen full of nonsense and a black cat sitting on a Ouijia board. “Look,” Tony is saying to the cat, “I know it’s slow, and you’re frustrated, but it’s better than just waiting for Wong to get back to me, right?”

“Tony?” Stephen says, bemused. “What are you doing?”

Tony spins around and stares at him like he’s seen a ghost. “Stephen! You’re—” he breaks off and visibly stops himself from looking at the cat, “—home.”

Patting the Cloak as it slides off his shoulders, Stephen shifts his robes into more casual clothes and walks over to lean against the back of the couch, looking down at Tony. “Tony,” he says, suppressing a smile. “Did you think the cat was me?”

Tony flushed. “Look, I came in and he was sitting on the back of the couch. Black hair, green-blue eyes, and he was glowing. I called your name and he meowed! What was I supposed to think?”

“In your defense, cats are inherently magical,” Stephen admitted, but he couldn’t help the smirk.

“Cats, wizards...” Tony groaned, leaning back against the couch and covering his eyes. “How is this my life?”

Hi there! I’m a witch who’s practice lands mostly in protection and divination. I have a friend who’s very interested in searching for and making contact with ghosts, but as they’re fairly inexperienced, and don’t really *get,* the many of the ins and outs and customs and dangers and things to look out for (and I am), i’ve agreed to help. Here’s the issue; They REALLY want to use a ouijia board. Now, for sure, ouijia boards can be used safely, harmlessly, effectively, all that. but I don’t trust my skills *that much,* and my bloodline in particular has had some pretty nasty experiences with them, which I have shared. They have respected this well so far, but they keep bringing up the idea in a wondering, ‘what if’ fashion. How do I impress upon them how dangerous a ouijia board could be if not taken seriously, and how dangerous this kind of thing in general could be if they don’t respect it properly?

For the sake of clarity, I'd like to first address a small issue of terminology. This is not to correct you, dear reader, but rather to ensure other followers are not confused on the point. While the term “Ouija board” is technically a copyrighted term owned by the toy manufacturer who makes such items, it has come to be used as a catch-all term for all manner of spirit communication boards.

I assume that, when you say your friend is insistent on using a Ouija board, you mean that they are interested in talking boards in general, not that they are showing a remarkable degree of brand loyalty to Hasbro Inc.

I'd also like to dig a little more into why talking boards can be dangerous. Speaking with the dead is not an inherently dangerous practice, but as you say, it is vital to take the matter seriously and to be mindful of the proper customs in doing so.

If you were to walk into someone else's home unannounced and start barraging them with questions, you might reasonably expect a rather hostile response. The same is true of barging into the spirit realm and demanding attention from any and all ethereal beings in the vicinity.

All too often, traditionally vital practitioners think of 'the dead' as a sort of faceless, homogenous mass, with nothing better to do with their afterlife than to answer the whims of every passing witch and warlock. It sounds as if your friend is showing some of the same unfortunate patterns in their thinking.

However, I do wonder if perhaps there is some miscommunication happening here. You say that you've explained your reticence towards this practice, and that your friend has been largely respectful. Given that, it seems possible they are not, in fact, trying to chip away at your boundaries when they indulge in these “what if” hypotheticals, but merely enjoying some harmless speculation.

The next time they say something along these lines, take the time to clarify the issue. Let them know that, when they speculate in that way, it makes you anxious about their intentions, and that you feel uncertain about how well they understand the risks involved.

If they really are just wondering, you can always let them know that you'd prefer they took such ideas to someone else. If they aren't, and are seriously considering the matter despite your protestations, re-emphasise just how uncomfortable you are with the idea, and make it clear that you will protect your boundaries – even if that means withdrawing your support for their practice altogether.

3 ships: Faith x Buffy from BTVS (Fuffy!!) I'm pretty focused. (I'll ignore other Eliza Dushku characters, and uh, that leaves, to a much much MUCH lesser extent...) Wil x Vivian (from Saving Face) and Lucy x Amy (from D.E.B.S.) But I don't even know the ship names for those 2 so you can see how much of my brain they are taking up.

First ever ship: I think Mulder x Scully from X-Files was probably my first ever ship. (Although I did not know the term MSR and was not aware of fandom online.) I wasn't super invested, personally they don't really DO IT for me, but I was rooting for them to get together. One of these days I'll do a proper watch / rewatch. (I stopped watching regularly once I went to college.)

Last song: (double cheating album answer) Bad Bunny's new album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Manana. AND the soundtrack from the Out of Sight movie.

Currently watching: Bob's Burgers for fun (yay! Louise is my favorite), and just finished The Fall of the House of Usher (this was just OK for me, I much prefer Midnight Mass and the two Hauntings). I think Chucky will be next! (gotta get caught up on season two)

Currently consuming: Shrimp spring rolls and a Boston cream donut.

Currently craving: Halloween chocolate candy. And marshmallow peanuts. And candy corn.
