Mother, im sitting here at 4am, eating mini easter eggs and ive had tge most brilliant idea!! (Inspired by @inkdrinkerworld 's fic)
Okay so, poly!moonwater and readers been having trouble sleeping due to tensions/problems with her pureblood family. As a result shes been taking more naps, but they arent restful. So reader were napping in Rems bed (the dungeons were too cold) but after a fitful 30 minutes she gets up groggy, sleep deprived and beyond frustrated. She stumbles her way down to the common room, pin point Sirius lounging across the couch and promptly throws herself down to cuddle with him and continue her nap. Everyone (minus Siri) is shook. Jamie even asks if she got the wrong person because Reggie was sitting over there (in which he got a one eyed death glare before she burrowed into Siris chest and passed out).
Now, what everybody else didnt know was that Siri had more or less adopted reader as his own (she remined him so much of Reggie, being her big brother was 2nd nature). And while Barty was her person, he was a little too crazy to be comforting in this situation ("y/n, i'll get rid of them for you. Its not hard to do so" "Barty, no."). And of course Siri nows how bad their kind of familys are so he'd been taking care of reader on the down low as an older brother would.
Bonus if Reggie then decides that looks warm and fuzzy and wants Siri cuddles too so he joins ( it took him so long to get to a point where he could let himself be vunerable enough to openly allow Siri to take care of him 😭)
aweeee poor reader. this ended up being way more serious than I thought it would be? like it's not funny at all, there's no humour (which feels odd to me, usually I can throw some jokes or banter in there) but plenty of hurt comfort???.......idk, I can't tell if this is any good, it feels very different from my usual pieces
poly!moonwater x fem!reader whose family sucks (but it's very Sirius-centric)
CW: mentions of insomnia, mentions of abusive families, making fun of only children (sorry), hurt/comfort
You were miserable to say the least; you couldn’t remember when the last time you had a restful sleep was, and nothing you did seemed to help.
The closer it got to the Winter Holidays, the more your mind seemed to spiral. Every time you began to relax, your heart pounded as if you’d accidentally leaned too far back in your chair, reminding you of your upcoming visit home. Every time you closed your eyes, you were bombarded with images of angry faces and violent curses being shot at you.
The Slytherin dungeons were too cold, and every time you found your way into Regulus’ dorm, Barty insisted on butting in, and though you appreciated his support, you couldn’t handle his threats promises to burn down your home with your parents in it.
Remus and Regulus both suggested you perhaps talk to Madame Pomfrey about getting some dreamless sleep or sleeping draught, but you were too embarrassed to admit to your two overprotective boyfriends that you’ve used them so frequently during your life for this very reason that they had lost all efficacy.
It had gotten to the point that you managed to get the most sleep in the library bent over the table with your face on your book whilst Remus and Regulus did their work (and sometimes yours), and that honestly left you feeling more painfully tired than you had been before your nap.
So, you were nearly falling asleep at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall over your chicken and roast potatoes when Remus gently nudged you and suggested you go lie down for a bit and you wanted to weep into your potatoes which was only slightly less embarrassing than sleeping in them, causing him and Regulus to bring you up to Gryffindor tower.
You’d kicked them both out of the Marauders’ dorm room after some time – Remus for snoring and Regulus because the sound of him turning the pages of his book was distracting you. He promised to stop reading, but then he breathed too loudly and you started crying.
You were overtired, emotional, and running on fumes.
You’d counted puffskeins, you’d had a warm glass of milk, you’d taken off articles of clothing and reconfigured your outfit numerous times (which was currently Remus’ jumper and no pants), and you’d tried every position imaginable to no avail.
You think you might have perhaps gotten five minutes of sleep before you woke up with a start, a barely repressed scream grating through your teeth.
Feeling disturbingly weepy and no less groggy from your horrid sleep, you pulled on a pair of your sweatpants and grabbed the throw blanket from the end Remus’ bed before trudging down the stairs to the common room.
“You should have seen the look on Filch’s face- oh! Hi Y/N!” James called as you made your way over to the three-seater and stood over the black-haired boy currently occupying it.
“Oh, Trouble.” He cooed sympathetically at you before kicking his feet out, laying back, and opening his arms for you to join him. You quickly climbed on top of him, and he tucked you in between the back of the sofa and his side, bending your knee so that your thigh rested on top of his, and pulled the blanket over the two of you.
You let out a shaky sigh and felt the first few tears fall from your eyes and onto Sirius’ chest.
“Uhm...” James said loudly, looking over to both Regulus and Remus cuddled in a large plush chair from his place on the loveseat with Lily like ‘are you seeing this right now?’. “I think you’ve got the wrong wizard there, L/N.” He said with a nervous laugh.
“No, she’s quite alright.” Sirius gritted back at him, looking far more severe than James thought the situation called for as he rubbed his hand consolingly up and down your arm.
James looked to your boyfriends, his face clearly asking all the questions that his mouth wasn’t.
“He helps, sometimes.” Regulus admitted, not looking particularly happy that you chose his brother over him, but not nearly as murderous as James figured he might look if he’d found Lily snuggled up like that with some other bloke. And it appeared as though the look of heartbreak on Remus’ face was caused more by your current sorry state and less about your current cuddle partner.
“But...your brother?” James asked, still befuddled over this development. “Doesn’t she usually go to Junior for things like this?”
Sirius scoffed. “Junior’s solution to almost anything is fire or murder.”
“Or both.” You whimpered quietly, causing Sirius to tighten his arm around you and bring his other hand up to continue stroking your arm.
“Besides, Barty’s an only child.” Regulus said flippantly.
“What’s that got to do with it?” James asked, slightly offended at the insinuation that anything may be wrong with him on account of his only child-ness.
Regulus’ irritable demeanor over Sirius usurping you was quickly replaced by a cocky smirk at getting under James’ skin.
“Let me ask you this, Potter: last summer when Lily returned your letters unopened and called you an arrogant toerag after saying she’d rather date the giant squid, whose arms did you cry into?”
“He didn’t cry.” Lily laughed at the same time as James answered “Sirius’” without any hesitation.
“What?” Lily asked, looking slightly horrified that she may have actually hurt James’ feelings.
“Oh, all the time, every time, actually.” James said readily.
“He got snot on so many of my favourite band-tee’s, Red. As a matter of fact, I expect retribution.” Sirius commented.
“And why do you think you cried into Sirius’ arms?” Regulus continued.
“Well...because he’s my best mate.” James said simply.
“You may think that’s the reason, but you’re wrong. It’s because Sirius is an older brother.”
James scoffed at that. “Please, that has nothing to do with it!”
“Have you ever cried in Remus’ arms?”
“No, but-”
“Pettigrew’s?”
James grimaced but answered honestly. “No.”
“No. Because they’re not older brothers.” Regulus said definitively.
“That actually makes sense...” Lily mused aloud.
“You say that like you’re surprised, Evans. I know you’re not used to good idea’s coming out of men’s mouths, but I do assure you it happens more frequently than you might imagine.” Regulus taunted, earning him a pillow being hurled at his head.
Much to James’ chagrin, his seeker reflexes caught the pillow before it made impact with his face.
“Tosser.” James grumbled.
“Would you guys shut up.” Sirius whispered, causing everyone to look over at you.
Regulus couldn’t even find it in him to be miffed when he saw you sleeping what looked to be quite peacefully in Sirius’ arms. Your eyes were slightly swollen from your tears, and he could see the tracks they had left on your cheeks and over the bridge of your nose, but you looked so content.
“So... all big brothers know how to do that?” James asked incredulously.
“I doubt it.” Sirius commented quietly.
“Only ones who know what it’s like to live in a Pureblood hellscape and needed to share his bed with his younger brother who was too scared to sleep on his own for years.” Regulus added quietly, staring unseeingly towards you and Sirius. Remus pulled Regulus tighter into his side and began rubbing his arm consolingly.
Suddenly, things started to make a little more sense to James.
“I’ll write to mum.” James stated, causing both brothers, Lily, and Remus to look at him bemusedly.
“About what?” Remus asked finally.
“Y/N staying with us.” James said simply.
Regulus opened his mouth ready to argue; to argue that James didn’t have to and that he already took in both Sirius and Regulus. James didn’t owe Regulus anything.
But Sirius spoke first.
“She should be with her big brother, Reggie.” Sirius said, shooting him an encouraging smile and wink.
And seeing how your breathing had fallen even with your mouth slightly ajar as you clutched to the fabric of Sirius’ jumper like it was a lifeline, who was Regulus to argue?

omg omg omg i can see it now, reader in the hospital hooked up to an ekg and emt!maurauders after dropping someone off sees her in the room and they go in to check on her and her pulse just skyrockets and sirius is like "oh are you still in shock?" and rem is like "...i don't think so" and then they all get so flustered and reader gets flustered and fluffffffff
Thanks for requesting!
part 1 | part 2
cw: hospital, head injury, broken ribs
emt!marauders x fem!reader ♡ 979 words
Some of the whiplash you’d been warned about is setting in now. It’s been a few hours since the trio of unreasonably attractive paramedics had dropped you off at the hospital, and you’re stiff and sore all over. Even your knees have developed dark bruises, apparently from hitting the dashboard when you’d stopped suddenly. You don’t remember getting them.
The other doctors and nurses who’d been assigned to your care have been nice and of course highly competent, but no one has been as kind or warm as the men who’d picked you up at the scene. Ridiculous as it is, you almost miss them. There’s nothing comforting about this place, and if you can’t have the familiarity of a loved one with you, you’d happily settle for the strangers’ compassion.
The parade of hospital workers and concerned loved ones going past your room is endless, but you look up from your phone when someone stops abruptly in the doorway.
Sirius lets out a quiet oof when he crashes into James from behind, Rem simply sidestepping the both of them before coming to a stop in front of your room.
“Hey.” James grins at you. “It’s you, from the car crash.”
“Hi.” You return his smile bashfully, and Rem gives James an exasperated look.
“I’m sure she’d rather not be referred to as the girl from the car crash, James.”
“Right.” James' smile goes somewhat sheepish. “Sorry.”
“It’s fine,” you reassure him. “Thanks for…uh, everything. Earlier.”
“You’re very welcome,” Sirius drawls, recovering from his collision and sauntering into the room. He gives you a not-so-subtle look over. “Just doing our job, dollface.”
The monitor connected to your finger starts beeping more rapidly, and the suave confidence saps from his expression.
“Shit, are you still in shock?”
It starts going faster. You’re pretty sure your face is getting red too. How much trouble would you be in if you just disconnected the thing?
“I don’t…” Rem’s eyes narrow, a second before his eyebrows raise an inch. “I don’t think so.”
Your gulp has to be audible.
“Oh,” Sirius says, his brow unfurrowing. He looks at you, and a smile curves his lips. “Oh.”
“Okay, the both of you fuck off.” James comes to your defense, striding over as if to forcibly remove Sirius from your beside. “Look what you’re doing to the poor girl! Remus, you didn’t have to give her away like that.”
“Better than her still being in shock,” Rem—or Remus, apparently—points out.
“It’s fine, darling,” James goes on with forced breeziness. He’s looking at you with such sweetness you’d almost believe his nonchalance if not for the quick way he blabbers on. “Honestly, it’s an unfair advantage for us that you’re the only one with a heart monitor on. Though I suppose I’m lucky I don’t have one on too, or we’d be making a pretty terrible symphony in here right now.”
It takes you a second to catch his meaning, but by the time you do he’s blushing nearly as badly as you.
He’s tossed himself under the bus just so you wouldn’t be down there by yourself.
You don’t know what to say to that, but a quiet thanks slips past your lips unchecked, and for reasons you cannot figure James’ smile softens in response.
“Anytime, love. So, what’re you still doing here?” He changes the subject hastily. “They keeping you for observation or something?”
“No, I’m just waiting for my ride to get off work,” you explain. “What are you doing here?”
Sirius grins, leaning against the wall near your bed. “We work here, babe.”
“No, I—I know that,” you laugh. It hurts your chest, and all three boys’ expressions tense with sympathy when something in your face must reveal it. “I meant, don’t you usually work in the ambulance?”
“We just dropped off another patient,” he says, so preparedly that you suspect he knew what you were really asking the first time. “Older guy, complaining of a stomach ache.” He winks. “No competition for you, sweetness.”
Christ. You’d thought they were bad when they’d picked you up, but it’s worse when you can actually process what they’re saying and doing.
“Is he okay?” you ask, ignoring Sirius’ last comment.
James gives you another one of his soft smiles. “Yeah, he’s alright. We see him like three times a week, he’s always fretting about something. But how are you, sweetheart? They treating you alright in here?”
You shrug. “I’m fine. I have some broken ribs and a concussion, like you said earlier, but I’m just glad it wasn’t worse. And of course everyone has been very nice.”
“Glad to hear it.” Remus’ voice seems soft compared to the other two, though he more matches your volume. He perches next to you on the bed, eyebrows scrunching just a little as he looks at the stitches on your forehead. “Mmm, that’s probably going to scar.”
“I don’t mind,” you say honestly, a second before remembering his own scars. They tug a bit as his eyebrows flick upward again, and then his lips pull into a boyish, lopsided grin.
The monitor goes off again, and you cover your face with your hands as Sirius cackles.
“Sorry, lovely.” Remus’ voice sounds somewhat amused too as his hand lands on your shoulder, squeezing delicately. “We’ll get out of your hair so you can rest.”
“Thank you,” you say into your hands, removing them only once his weight lifts from the bed.
Sirius won’t stop laughing, not looking abashed even when Remus grabs him by the collar of his shirt and drags him along on his trajectory out of the room.
“Get well,” James says, walking backwards to follow them and giving you a smile that seems to contain, impossibly, equal parts mirth and earnestness. “I’d say I hope to see you around here again, but best not, huh?”

WOVEN TOGETHER ━━━ remus lupin x reader
━━━ 𖥻︰ 2091 words
summary: despite your best efforts, remus lupin might just become your friend.
pairing: remus lupin x reader
tags: platonic remus lupin x reader, she/her pronouns, reader is a gryffindor the same year as the marauders, shy reader, mentions of anxiety
The common room was one of your least favourite places to be, but your dorm room was worse, so there you were. It was getting late, and you had a potions assignment due the next day, so you were sitting in a quiet corner trying to work on it. Well, trying to want to work on it. You were only just passing by the skin of your teeth, and if you failed this essay then it would bring your grade down from an Acceptable to a Poor, and that meant that you wouldn’t be able to get the NEWTS you needed. You weren’t sure what those NEWTS were, as the idea of having to do anything after finishing school filled you with fear, but you figured it probably would have something to do with potions. You sort of just picked the electives you enjoyed and then did your best.
Unfortunately, your best didn’t seem to be good enough with this essay, as you had been working on it nonstop for the past four days and you still had another 10 inches of parchment left.
“Disfigurement,” a voice came from above you. You looked up from your homework at a boy, looking bashfully at your parchment.
“Excuse me?”
He had the good graces to look embarrassed by the way you were looking up at him. “Disfigurement is one of the major side affects of using lacewing flies in the potion, a big part of the reason that it’s level three restricted by the ministry,”
Now, normally, a man standing above you and explaining something that you already knew would absolutely ruin your day, Merlin only knew it happened often enough. But normally, the men doing it didn’t look like they were talking about it out of pure interest.
His eyes got slightly dimmer as he realised your annoyance, a darkened honey colour that people wrote songs about. “Sorry, I should’ve- Just because you paused writing doesn’t mean you didn’t know what you were talking about. Sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it.” You decided on after a minute. You knew who he was, of course, you didn’t spend seven years in the same grade as someone without learning their name, but you were nearly one hundred percent certain he didn’t know yours.
“I just came over for…” he gestured uselessly at the small collection of cups on the table beside you, with a metal pitcher of ice cold water that stayed full no matter how much you poured it. A group of boys in your year had tried to use it to flood the common room one time. You had a sneaking suspicion the boy in front of you had been involved, despite the fact that he never received detention for it like the others did.
“Go for it.”
He poured two glasses of water and paused, looking at you. “I really am sorry. I’ve offended you.”
“I’m not offended,” you replied honestly. “I normally would be, but I’ll allow it just this once.”
The boy cracked a smile, slightly crooked, and it evened out his whole face, as though he had been created just to smile like that. “Thank you, then.” He corrected softly. “For not being offended by my interruption.” He put the cups down gently and looked for a moment as though he might shake your hand, before thinking better of it and leaving them hanging uselessly by his side. “I’m Remus.”
“So I’ve heard,” you didn’t mean to sound pretentious. “I just mean- we share a lot of classes, so I’ve seen you around a lot.” Now it was your turn to be embarrassed.
Remus continued smiling. “No, I know. I see you all the time. You always snag the good table in the library.” He gestured to you, testing your name out experimentally on his tongue, as though afraid to get it wrong. You nodded.
You liked studying in the library because it made you feel like an actual student. Doing homework on your bed, while the more common alternative, made you feel as though you were doing it wrong somehow. As if, because you hadn’t put in the effort to go all the way to the library and bring your study materials with you that you didn’t deserve to do well on whatever it is you were working on. “Do I?” your voice sounded far away, even to yourself.
“I’ll forgive you, though,” Remus said good naturedly, noticing your change in tone. This interaction had gone on far too long for your liking. You were beginning to feel exhausted. How embarrassing.
Talking to strangers for longer than ten seconds makes my stomach do a backflip, you thought bitterly to yourself. That was why your dorm room didn’t feel as welcoming as it was perhaps meant to. The girls in there talked, like they were friends. And they were friends, it was easy to see that.
You’d been so removed when you first started at Hogwarts, when you were only eleven. So overwhelmed by the hundreds of rooms and the hundreds of students, that when your roommates stayed up all night chattering and getting to know one another, you had felt nothing inside you aside from a desire to go to sleep. It took weeks before your nerves calmed enough to even attempt to contribute to their conversations, and by the time you had realised that maybe you did want to be friends with them, they had accepted your silence.
You gave Remus an awkward smile, the polar opposite of the one he’d given you. As if your grinning was a defect, not something you were designed to do. Sometimes it felt like maybe you weren’t.
He was still standing there. How could you make him go away without explicitly telling him to? You felt nauseous, squirmy under his gaze. Why hadn’t he left yet? “That essay Slughorn gave us is a real doozy, isn’t it?”
You cracked a real, genuine smile at his word choice. You didn’t know anyone who used the word ‘doozy’ and the best part was, it seemed to be entirely unironic. “Yeah, I guess.”
“I was planning on spending the afternoon up in the library, working on it.” His hand fiddled with the hem of his button-up. “Any chance I could sit at the good table?”
You nodded almost instantly. “Yeah, no, sure. It’s all yours. Sorry, I didn’t mean to hog.”
“You’re not,” he let out a breathy laugh. “You’re jumpy, aren’t you?” You felt it, and your cheeks burned at the notion that he could tell. “If you wanted to still study at your same table, and I was also to study there, both of us in complete silence, then I don’t think that would be so bad?”
Remus could see that you wanted to say no, and he didn’t want to push it if you were clearly uninterested, but he also knew that it had been seven years of you being the only Gryffindor girl he’d never spoken to, and also being the only Gryffindor girl he’d ever felt a strong desire to speak to. The others were great, sure, Lily and Marlene had become friends to him more concretely now that Lily and James were seeing each other, and Alice had always been sweet. You, on the other hand, had been described by your roommates as sad. Not ‘pathetic’ sad, but a more deep sadness.
“She’s awfully kind,” Marlene had told him once, hushed in the back of a History Against Magic Lesson. He hadn’t remembered how your name had been brought up. “Think she just likes it quiet.”
“The table’s yours,” you offered. “It’s okay. I can just study down here, it’s warmer.”
“It’s louder, though,” Remus reasoned. “Up there there’s no… well, no guys coming over here to explain something you probably already understand.”
“I thought you said you were going to be there?” You were genuinely confused at what he was asking of you by this point, but he laughed it off. You staved off a frown.
“I always find that homework is nicest when you’ve got someone there,” he offered finally. “Even if you’re not talking, just purely sitting there.”
You didn’t see how that would help at all. You’d probably be too distracted by anyone to even get any work done. But, you realised with a start, the notion of someone wanting to spend time in your vicinity, as innocent as Remus’s intentions were, made your heart ache.
He probably just wanted to be able to sit at the good table without putting you rout, you understood that. But at the same time, if he really wanted to sit there, and he really wanted to not disrupt your routine, then you didn’t see why not, even though maintaining eye contact with him for any longer than a second felt as though you were going to combust in a caramel-irised explosion.
“You can come,” you conceded, gently, hoping as not to come off rude or too territorial about your space. Perhaps it would be better if you studied outside, or in an empty classroom. That way you weren’t getting in his way.
“Excellent,” he was talking too loud, and he could tell that by the way you shrank back in your seat.  “Maybe I can finally get my transfiguration grade up, Merlin knows you’re doing well in that class.”
Why would he say that? That made him come across as a stalker who knew all your grades. He hoped you didn’t think that implied you did need help in potions. Your reactions weren’t giving him much, and it was making him nervous. He definitely shouldn’t have come over here, but he had been scrambling for something to say, and now he had to take water over despite the fact that no one had asked for water.
“I’m sure you’ll be fine.” You closed your textbook so gently it didn’t even made a paper noise as the cover closed. “But if you really do need help, then I might be able to.” You offered him one final smile, cheeks tinged with a visible blush.
You hoped he couldn’t see how dizzy you were getting. You wanted to go sleep and pretend this was all a dream so you could go back to ignoring Remus’s existence like he could go back to ignoring yours.
Unfortunately for you, though, he’d found your little hidey-hole study space that you occupied yesterday, coming in to tease you light heartedly about abandoning him for transfiguration. You didn’t not want to talk to Remus, it was nothing about him. He’d been nothing but sweet and funny in the very limited interactions you’d shared, you were the issue.
“Should’ve known you’d ditch me,” he’d said with a sigh as he sat down, opening his textbook up. You found you didn’t mind his being there as long as you weren’t expected to contribute much to the conversation.
“Thought it would be obvious.” You’d attempted to match his airiness in your tone. It came out strangled.
He sighed gently. “I wanted to pretend it wasn’t so, sweetheart. I thought you and me had something special. I told you about disfigurement in potions and you tell me about disfigurement in transfiguration.”
He’d been attempting to do the spell for about an hour, trying to turn a ball of yarn into a scarf. It was a simple spell that’d normally be of no issue to him, but he just couldn’t get it this time.
After nearly forty minutes of mumbling all but silently to himself so as not to disturb you, you had enough. You reached over and, so delicately he’d thought at first it was simply a breeze, uttered the spell while controlling his hand movements. A long, thickly knitted navy scarf burst from the ball of wool, landing pooled by his crossed legs. You looked up at him, expecting to be reprimanded for the touching, knowing you would have done exactly the same.
“You’re not real,” he said after a moment. Sometimes you felt that way too. “We’re officially studying together every time, now.” He grinned to himself, picking up the scarf and wrapping it securely around your neck multiple times, tucking the ends in to your jumper. It was soft. “Every single time, you little wonder.” You maybe didn’t mind as much this time as you had when he’d last suggested it. Your smile was almost hidden behind the mass of fabric you’d just helped him conjure, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t see it.

hi lovely ! it's milunalupin :)
could i please request remus + "i waited for you" ? 🫶🏼✨
hello my friend, ty for the request!! im working on my big boy fic for james rn but i wanted a little bit of remus as a break <3 (wc: 691)
“You smell good.”
Remus looks at the man taking a seat across from him, appalled by such a comment. Sirius looks equally stunned saying it, wrinkled nose a mirror of Remus’.
“Thank you?”
Sirius shakes his head like this is the wrong response.
“Why do you smell good?”
Remus rolls his eyes, keeping his posture aloof. “Took my annual bath last night.”
Sirius scoffs. “‘Bout time. Your stench was getting harsh on my delicate canine senses.”
That pulls a laugh from Remus, however small.
By the door, he sees you squeezing into the packed pub, side-stepping between rowdy groups of people and looking around. You’re wearing a mid-length skirt, and when you spot the two boys in their booth it swishes around each hasty step.
“Hi,” you breathe, “I’m sorry. They made me start inventory and then I just had to shower and—” Remus stands to offer you some seclusion via the walled side of the bench seat. You wave your rambling apologies away, winded from running around all day. “Nevermind. I need a drink, Remus. Come with?”
“Sit,” he demands softly, “I’ll fetch it.”
You do as you’re told, hanging onto Remus’ words like a takeout fortune, foolishly hopeful that they mean something. If Sirius didn’t demand so much attention, you’d probably turn them over in your head a lot longer, but he really, really does.
“Think you can show us lads up, eh missy?”
Smothering a smile, you stare Sirius down with false bluntness.
“Yep. You’re lucky I even came at all, honestly.”
Sirius laughs, spinning his glass, half empty and through sweating. You realize his drink is the only one on the table.
“I’m surprised you did. You’re so popular, but you stay humble for us.”
“I have to,” you agree, “I could’ve been with people a lot cooler than you guys, but I just felt so bad. You and Remus don’t have anyone else to hang out with now that James is married.”
“Moony, we’re being bullied,” says Sirius, raising his voice a touch to reach the boy in question. Remus places two new drinks on the maple tabletop, sliding in close to you.
“I’m sure we deserve it,” he says, passing one of the fresh glasses off to you. “We’re turning into losers.”
You bring the cool glass to your lips, relaxing further into the familiar booth cushion and eyeing Remus’ new drink.
“Is that your second?”
Remus shakes his head. “My first.”
He tracks your brows as they pull together. They’d been here almost a half hour already.
“I waited for you,” he explains, smiling gently. Your stomach leaps.
“You didn’t have to do that.”
Sirius jumps in, stepping on Remus’ toes.
“That’s what I told him,” he says, “I said you’re too sweet to mind.”
“Don’t listen to him,” Remus says, following up Sirius’ heel. His voice is still wearing the crooning silk he tends to direct towards you. “It’s the polite thing to do. Sirius just has poor manners.”
Across the way, the man in question sputters objections while you try not to laugh.
“I—I’m impolite? I’m impolite! Please. She’s the only one at this table who was late to a hangout one block away from her apartment. I had every right to drink my sorrows away.”
Remus ducks his head and shoots you a cat-like grin, but Sirius isn’t done.
“And it’s not being polite if you’re motivated by a massive crush, Moony, by the way. D’you know he’s wearing cologne?”
You stare at Sirius, because the alternative of looking at Remus (who is flushed beyond measure) is akin to a death sentence.
“Yes,” you admit. You’d smelled it on him when he stood up earlier, a fresh earthy scent that was too sharp to be soap. Sirius points at your face like he’s caught you.
“See? The only people who notice a guy wearing cologne are his miserable best mates, and girls who want to be waited on.” Remus shoots him a glare and he throws his hands up as if to say, sue me. “I’m just helping.”
Remus curses through an exhale and drops his head into his hands.

Barbie dolls: Jegulus x gn!reader
Summary: you and James are dating and then Sirius introduces regulus and now you both are crushing
Warnings: James gets called a whore not during sex, James wears crop tops?, Regulus kinda makes James feel bad about his shirt, trans Reggie? Is that a warning?, regulus is strange for sure, mentions of sex and arousal but like its ovulation week so what were you expecting, idk James wears bell bottoms, ITS NOT THAT CRAZY GUYS
Word count: 2.8k-ish
You loved Sirius. He was hilarious, one of the most caring and stylish people you’ve ever met. So when Sirius told you all he was going to properly introduce everyone to his little brother, Regulus, you were excited. When Sirius pulled the boy into the room with all your friends you started to understand why Sirius seemed hesitant at first. First, his brother was a bit of a bitch. Second, fuck he was hot.
You loved James. So much. He was an amazing boyfriend, an amazing person. James was your best friend who you also happened to love fucking. Not the point, point is you felt incredibly guilty finding Regulus attractive. Not only was he Sirius’ little brother, you were sitting in the same room as your boyfriend. You looked to James, you wanted to see his reaction to Regulus calling you all “a bunch of stupid dickheads.” When you looked to him, he was already looking at you. James was sporting your same blush. He mouthed wow before looking back to Sirius. Sirius was telling Regulus to be more friendly. Regulus told Sirius to shove it up his ass. At the mention of Sirius’ ass, Remus was suddenly stuttering over his words. Peter glared at Remus.
“Merlin, try to pull yourself together moony.” Peter muttered. It was funny and you would’ve laughed if you weren’t trying your hardest to not check out your friend’s younger brother in front of your spectacular boyfriend. James had stayed entirely silent this whole time. You stared at him. His eyes were wide, his cheeks were flushed, his lips were tightly pressed together. You knew the look. You’d seen it before, when James met you the first time.
You met Lovely Lily and Ravishing Remus first. You all had a study group together. Though the studying slowly started to decline as you three started gossiping more and more. They started to talk about their ever growing friend group more and more. They decided keeping you to themselves was just plain unfair, so they introduced you to their other friends. Sirius seemed a little mean, glaring at you the whole time Remus and Lily shared your name. The second you complimented his leather jacket, Sirius was beaming. Peter seemed to be ignoring you, fully focused in his homework. The next time you met him, he had no work in front of him. You warmed up to Peter quickly after that. You had first avoided James’ eyes because he seemed to be intimidating. He was just sat there on the ground staring up at you and you thought he was amping up to insult you. When you finally looked at him you realized you have just met a man with absolutely nothing behind his eyes. His jaw was slack and he was just staring up at you. Lily reached out and gently closed James’ jaw for him. He finally sat up straight, greeting you with a large smile. You nodded awkwardly. James pressed his lips together, trying to stop himself from saying something to stupid. His eyes were bugged out and his ears were turning red. Now James was giving Regulus the same look.
You honestly weren’t upset he was into Regulus, because you were too. Clearly, you needed to have a private conversion with James about this later. You did. You both liked him, and now you had to figure out how to handle this. Do you both flirt with your friend’s brother? Do you pretend like nothing is going on? You really didn’t want to scare poor Regulus away. You both knew how hard it must’ve been for him to meet his brother’s friends. It would just be so strange and uncomfortable if half your older brother’s friends started flirting with you the day after you met them. So, you both decided you’d give him time to get comfortable with all of you before either of you said anything to Regulus.
Months later Regulus was like he’d been with you all since day one. He jokingly made fun of everyone, making his own inside jokes with you all, and he’d join in on pranks and plans. Sirius was quite happy he got time to make his bond with Regulus stronger. Remus got another person who loved to gossip. Peter got a friend who loved history as much as he did. Lily got someone to share her younger sibling trauma with. You and James got a lovely friend who was so funny and mean to you both. He hated you guys. You both loved it. You’d throw insults back and forth all the while a grin plastered on your face. Next to you both James would be sat there with his lovesick eyes and soft smile. His eyes bouncing between you both as Regulus threatened to torture you horrifically, only for you to continue flirting with him. James would be grinning brightly, so happy he got to watch the two hottest people in Hogwarts try to kill each other.
When you and James caught a glimpse of Regulus sitting across the Library while on your study date, you turned to each other. You shared a knowing look, closing your books and making your way over to him without a word. The second you slipped into the seat in front of Regulus, he sighed deeply.
“And I thought my day was going well.” Regulus muttered, keeping his eyes on the journal he was scribbling in. James stood next to you, already smiling.
‘Awe come on Reggie, you love us.” You countered, resting your head on your palm. Regulus glanced up at you. Regulus bit onto the end of his fountain pen as he looked over you and James. You dropped your gaze to his lips. The pen pushing down on his bottom lip making it look extra kissable. Your eyes trailed down the pen, seeing his initials engraved with silver.
Sirius gave it to him after he came out. You remember because Sirius came to you with zero context just blurting out ‘how does one love a trans man?’ After a long few minutes of you staring blankly at Sirius, he explained the situation further. You had seen Regulus sitting in various odd positions and places, writing away. You noticed how he had to balance an ink pot in one hand and write with the other, so all you could come up with as a coming out gift was a pen. Although Sirius told you it made Regulus cry and you’ve never seen Regulus without it. You’re glad Sirius got all the credit.
Your gaze followed down to his hand gently holding onto the pen. His rings were always attractive, it wasn’t just you. James thought so too. Regulus kept rubbing his finger over the small ring of silver near the tip of his pen. You shouldn’t have found it hot. It was though. James rested his hand on your shoulder, gently squeezing it to say ‘i know right?’ You met Regulus’ eyes again to see him looking you up and down. His eyes flickered over to gazing over James’ body. James had found the magic of crop tops a few weeks back and now any chance he got his was showing off his happy trail in a shirt with some phrase like ‘I love milfs’ or ‘eat your girl out or I will’. You loved them, you didn’t love all the detentions he got from getting dress coded. You felt it was a fair trade. Regulus’ eyes snagged on his happy trail. Regulus poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue. He suddenly sat up straight and schooled his features, meeting your eyes again. You gave him a knowing smile.
“If you consider wanting to partake in homicide love, then yes. I do.” You smiled at him letting out an awe. You shared a look with James. You reached out, hooking your finger in the belt loop of his bell bottomed pants. You tugged James closer and winked up at him.
“You hear that, Jamie? He loves us. We love you too Reggie.” Regulus rolled his eyes. He turned back to his journal. You leaned over the table, peeking at his writing. Regulus slammed his journal shut. He slowly slid it across the table, hiding it in his lap.
“What are you writing?” You tapped Regulus’ hand on the table. He didn’t move his hand away, nor did he wipe it.
“Is it dirty?” James added in. You both turned to him, giving him a confused look. James look between your faces. He pressed his lips together.
“I’d call you a whore-“ Regulus started.
“Oh please do.” You smirked. Regulus ignored you continuing with his sentence.
“But I think you’d like it too much. Potter have you ever heard of a shirt? You put your arms through it? Covers your torso? Not ringing a bell, or did you leave your brain at home?” James looked down at his shirt, frowning at it. He pulled at the hem.
“What’s wrong with my shirt?” He sounded like a kicked puppy. You quickly reached out, rubbing his thigh.
“Nothing baby it’s so cute.”
“You mean aside from it breaking half of dress code?” Regulus said, talking over you.
“Do you not like my tummy, Reg?” You grimaced turning to James.
“Don’t say tummy.” You and Regulus said, in sync. You glanced over to him. You shared an understanding look before smiling softly at James. His shoulders had slumped a little since the start of the conversation. You stood up. You rubbed your hand up and down James’ arm, kissing his cheek.
“See you later, Regulus.” You whispered, gently tugging your boyfriend away.
“I hope not.”
You and James carried on like usual, following your usual routines and date nights. Only difference was Regulus seemed to appear more and more. You never asked him to join you guys or tell him to meet you, he just kind of showed up. You and James had planned date nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Weekends were anybody’s game or makeup time for a missed date but Tuesdays and Thursdays were pretty regular for you two. Date nights meant anything from passing out on the floor of the common room to breaking more rules than you liked to. Though it didn’t seem to matter what you two were doing because Regulus appeared near you. If you were sitting by the Black Lake just to relax in each other’s presence you’d catch a glimpse of Regulus’ hair across the lake. You’d both stand up to wave to him, if he did notice he never waved back. If you were lying in the courtyard napping in the sun, you’d roll over to see Regulus under a tree not far from you. You’d drag James up and lay back down next to Regulus. If you were having a study date in the Library you’d see Regulus walk past with a tall stack of books. You’d pull James up by his arm, following after Regulus. You’d all share the same table with Regulus pretending he didn’t notice either of you. No matter what he was somewhere near you and James. So you’d include him, obviously. It’d be awkward if you didn’t. You started to think that maybe this wasn’t all coincidence when you saw Regulus showed up in the Gryffindor commonroom, hunched over his journal like usual. His shoes were placed on the floor next to the end of the couch. Regulus was sitting to the side his back pressed to the armrest with his knees pulled to his chest.
“Hey Reg, what are you doing here?” You asked. James scoffed behind you. You glanced at him and grimaced, realizing it sounded kinda mean. Regulus looked up from his book, biting the top of his pen again. He raised an eyebrow at you.
“Well fuck you too then.” He muttered. You rolled your eyes, sitting down next to him. Regulus tucked his socked feet under your thigh. You knew he ran cold, you were actually secretly making him a sweater for his birthday. You wouldn’t dare tell him that though because A: it would ruin the surprise and B: he’d get all ‘no you shouldn’t have. I don’t deserve this’. He’s all traumatized like that, so you kept it quiet. Only person who knew was James. James laid down on the couch, dangling his legs over the armrest and throwing his head in your lap.
“I didn’t mean it like that, Regulus. You know I love your company. I was just confused because I don’t think you know the password.” You stared at Regulus, hoping he’d show you somehow that he wasn’t truly hurt by it. Regulus stared at you with his blue eyes. Both of the Black brothers had blue eyes. Sirius’ were a light piercing blue that, upon your first interaction, you thought were freaky. He seemed to peer directly into your soul, seeing everything you were and loving you anyways. Maybe that’s why Remus liked his eyes so much. Regulus’ were a deep blue. When he finally made eye contact with you, you felt like you were getting sucked into the depths of the ocean. His eyes were all consuming. They covered you in him, all you think about when looking into Regulus’ eyes was Regulus. If Sirius’ eyes looked into your soul, Regulus’ showed you his soul. Regulus looked back to his page, making you miss his stare.
“What you guys doing here anyways?” Regulus muttered like it wasn’t your boyfriend’s common room. You slipped your hand behind Regulus’ knee massaging the back of his calf. Regulus didn’t react at all, continuing to scribble away. James tilted his head back, staring at Regulus upside down.
“Date night.” James explained, laying back down. Regulus winced, he looked to you to verify. You nodded.
“Oh wow James you sure are romantic, taking your partner all the way to your common room.” Regulus said. You smiled at him. You patted James’ chest, reminding him he could take you to a landfill and you’d still love him. James sat up.
“Hey we were going to go take a nap. That’s very romantic.” James said. He pointed at Regulus like a scolding mother. You gently pushed James’ finger down. You pecked his cheek.
“Yes you are so romantic James, no need to fist fight Reg.” James glared at Regulus as he laid back down in your lap. You rubbed Regulus’ calf up and down before returning to massaging it. You sat in silence for a few moments. Regulus continued writing away, while James started fiddling with your hand on his chest. You switched calf’s every few minutes, not wanting them to get uneven amounts of attention. You dropped your head back against the couch, closing your eyes. You heard Regulus move next to you. He gently traced the silhouette of your nose. You opened your eyes and stared at him without moving your head. You didn’t want to scare Regulus taking his hands away. Regulus dragged his finger down to your lips. His jaw went slack as he felt your lips against his fingertips. You held your breath as you felt a wave of arousal travel down your spine. His fingers dipped past your chin. Regulus traced down your throat, stopping at your collarbones. He fiddled with your necklace. Regulus moved the little J charm between his fingers. Regulus pulled his eyes away from your necklace to your eyes. You let out a small breath.
“You both ought to go take that nap now. I doubt you want to be spending your date night sat next to your friend’s little brother.” James sat up. His eyes snagged on Regulus’ fingers playing with your necklace. James looked up to you and gave you a smile. You both looked back to Regulus.
“Regulus, baby.” He gave you a confused look. He glanced between you and James. James sucked in a breath.
“We already spend most of our dates with you, so it wouldn’t really be much of a change.” James explained. Regulus removed his hand from you, closing his journal. Regulus stared at his lap for a few minutes, before looking up.
“I do not understand.” You gave him a small smile. You reached out and pushed his hair away from his face. You cupped Regulus’ cheek and rubbed your thumb against his skin. You leaned forward. Regulus fluttered his eyes shut, tilting his face up towards you. You gently kissed his cheek, teetering close to the corner of his lips. You pulled back. Regulus stared at you as you stood up. James quickly pecked Regulus’ other cheek before bounding up the stairs after you.
Regulus was starting to realize certain things about himself.

Chapter 22: Long Long way from home
You woke up when you heard the sound of the door creaking open, James and Peter walking inside with a sigh. You nuzzled your head deeper on Sirius. But of course, there was no way you’d escape the boys teasing.
“You were supposed to take care not advantage of her!” Peter said, faking a reproachful tone.
“Yeah Pads, look at you snuggling her, poor thing, she must be so uncomfortable!” added James with a small smile.
“I’m probably the one who’s taking advantage of my situation,” you mumbled, Sirius gave you a bit of an impressed look, but neither of you pulled away from the other. “How’s Rem?”
“Better,” Peter said as he plopped down on his bed “Pomfrey managed to accommodate all of his bones, he had some Skellegro and a bunch of painkillers, but he was pretty upset.”
“He kept asking if you were okay,” James said, “We told him you were with Sirius, but he said he saw you, or, at least that he saw the vixen…”
“He did see Vixen,” Sirius responded, “that’s how I brought her into the castle.”
“We had to get some dittany to put on my wound since it wouldn’t stop bleeding so we used her as an excuse, a hurt fox is not as attention-grabbing as a bleeding student.”
“In the infirmary, she wiggled out of my arms and peaked through the curtains, that’s probably where he saw her.”
“Yeah, he did see me,” you acknowledged, and yawned. “Pomfrey was still working with his bones, he looked like he was in a lot of pain, I feel terrible,” you admitted, digging your head into Sirius’ chest, he moved his hand to your hair in response, soothingly running his fingers on your scalp.
“It wasn’t your fault,” Sirus said about at the same time James did, Peter said the same thing, but started about a second later, causing a funny chorus of reassuring voices.
“In fact, what you did was insanely brave,” James added, “most people would’ve straight out attacked the wolf, I’m sure you know spells that would’ve done great damage to Moony.”
“And you used Stupify, and the Whomping Willow, to deter him instead,” Peter said, that same expression he had used when he talked about your broom tricks.
“We found your wands too,” James said, walking closer to you and letting your wand on the side table, “Remus’ was easier to find, exactly where you had left it, yours wasn’t so much. Peter had to use a locating spell.”
The boy nodded and then turned to you again, “How are you feeling, by the way?” Peter asked.
“Like shit,” you joked. “But I’m better, the shoulder wound hurts like a bitch, and I’m a little sore but I do feel a lot better than last night.”
Peter, who had spent the last bit of the night next to you, looking at the way bIood dripped from your wound and how you shivered due to the cold water, really was thankful to see you better, all warm and cosy next to Sirius, he smiled. Last night you looked worried and terrified and like you had run for your life, which you really had. Today you finally looked relaxed, the frown, even visible in Vixen, was gone, “That’s good to hear,” he said honestly.
You were about to say something else when there was a knock on the door. “Who is it?” asked James.
“Lily, open up Potter!” She said.
The boy went pale, trying to think of excuses to give her. “She knows, she helped patch her up,” Sirius told him. James nodded with a sigh and walked to the door, opening it to let the redhead walk inside.
She had a lot more ingredients on her hands this time around, a bag hung across her shoulder and a small vial with a potion held in between her hands, “I’ve brought a couple of potions, Kless sent one too, when I told him you’d had a bit of a rough night trying to get the flower. I didn’t say anything in specific but he said this would help with any bruises or swelling from falling or muscle exertion.”
“Lemme help,” James said, taking in some of the ingredients Lily had on her hands, and also took the bag from her shoulder, quickly sitting it on the desk.
“Brought you clothes too,” she added, “And I told McGonagall you were feeling really bad because of your period, she gave me a note for the rest of the teachers today. I also went back to the infirmary and swiped some bandages, so we can put on your arm and before a long sleeve.”
“What about her face?” Peter asked, he had seen the bruises, there was no way you could mask those, especially since they all formed the shape of a hand.
“If the potions don’t fade them away before tomorrow, makeup,” Lily replied.
“Yeah,  I was thinking of that too, and I’ll just say I accidentally bumped into an owl or something while flying.”
“Oooh, clever,” James said, you shot him a wink. Sirius wrapped the blanket around you and helped you incorporate while Lily walked closer with the potions.
“This one’s for the pain,” she said handing you a small vial, “drink half of it, the next half when it comes back.” You nodded and did as told “This is the one Kless sent,” she said handing a bottle with a dropper “He said 5 drops every hour are great for swelling and soreness… and I want to wash you up before putting on the bandages, so we should probably go back to our room soon,” she turned to the boys “James would you mind passing me the bag please?”
The boy instantly did as told “I found this plaid shirt in your trunk, you can put it on top and maybe with the invisibility cloak or… you could also turn back into a fox I suppose…”
“Into Vixen,” Peter said.
“What? I don’t care about the technical terms–” Lily asked, a little confused.
“–No. I mean the fox, her name’s Vixen now.”
You raised an eyebrow “Is it?” you asked, turning to him.
“Yeah,” James said with a nod, “you needed a name for your animagus, Vixen fits, both the fox and you, it was perfect.”
You raised an eyebrow “Should I be offended by that?” you questioned, looking at Lily who shrugged.
“It does kinda fit,” she said. “I mean you’re stubborn but alluring, and charming–“
“–Clever and cunning, too.” Peter added, “We were discussing it all through Defence Against the Dark Arts.”
“Well… I like it,” Sirius said, leaning in closer to you and wrapping his arms around your waist, careful not to move the bed too much since the potions were still there “My little Vixen,” he whispered in your ear. You pouted in response.
“But… Vixen?”
“You’ll come around,” Peter said with a shrug, “It’s always like that with the nicknames, trust me.”
“It’d be easier to travel to our room as a fox, wouldn’t it?” You asked.
“If turning does not make you uncomfortable, yeah…” Lily replied.
You shook your head “I missed it actually, It’d been a while since I turned into… Vixen.”
“Is that why you kept asking about the forest?” Sirius asked.
You nodded “Way before the Moonflower? Yeah,” you responded and leaned your head back onto Sirius’ shoulder, he was still hugging you, and even though it was a little painful where Barty had dug his fingers to hold you while you fought off him, Sirius’ embrace was soothing, and comforting. Sirius was soothing and comforting, and you felt bad again, knowing that Remus was completely alone at the infirmary. You turned to him “You should go see Remus.”
He frowned “But Lily still has Care of Magical Creatures, she’ll leave you alone in your room–”
“It’s ok,” you interrupted, reassuringly. “You should go see him, he’s your best friend. Heck, I want to go too but I’m aware I can’t.”
“And I’ll stay with her,” Lily added with a sure nod.
“You’ll ditch your class?” Asked James, incredulous.
“It wouldn’t be the first time, besides, I will be taking care of a Magical Creature anyway,” she said pointing at you. You gasped, and Peter snickered at her joke, “Let’s go before more people come up to the common room,” she told you.
You nodded and motioned to get up, but Sirius squeezed you just a little tighter and leaned in to give you a soft kiss on the cheek “You sure you’re okay with this, Starshine?” he whispered in your ear.
You nodded, Remus was probably feeling a lot worse than you were anyway, heck, he had needed urgent medical attention and Skellegro because of you, he definitely deserved to see his friends a lot more than you did, and you knew how close he was to Sirius. “Stay with him for a while, make him laugh like you do all the time. Tell him I’m fine. That I’m not hurt. Tell him we’ll be alright,” you added in the end “Tell him I’ll go visit as soon as I don’t look like a zombie… Wait, no! Don’t say that, he’ll probably worry.”
Sirius chuckled lightly, “He would.”
“All right then, I’ll see you around I guess,” you said, before you shrunk back into Vixen. Once you had, you realised just how much better you felt already, the drastic change from the way you felt the previous night and in that moment almost shocking.
Lily approached you tentatively, as if she was scared you’d run off if she got too close. “It’s alright,” Sirius said, “just grab her like you would a cat, she’ll let you.”
Lily did as told, approaching you and gently pulling you up to her. She was so impossibly gentle that you wondered if you had been picked up by an angel instead. But then again, Lily really was like an angel. “James, do you mind crossing the bag over my shoulder?”
The boy, who had been dumbly staring at the girl, nodded, carefully slinging the bag over the redhead’s shoulder.
Then you saw a flash and turned your face towards it. Lily seemed a little bothered too, “Sorry, you combine with each other,” Sirius said, holding Remus’ polaroid between his hands. “Smile girls!” he added, before taking another picture.
Lily shook her head in disapproval “Stop annoying your girlfriend and go visit your friend instead,” she reprimanded.
“I just wanted a picture of her,” Sirius said with a pout.
“To wank off to?” Peter teased.
Lilly gasped while Sirius intervened “She’s literally a fox right now you plonker!”
“All right, we’re out.” Lily said before picking a couple of vials and placing them on the bag, “before these dumbasses start discussing the implications of being furries or something.”
James gasped, you flicked your tail and stared at Sirius, he knew what you meant, “I’ll go check on him in a minute Starshine, I’ll just change before I do.” You nodded and rested your head on Lily’s arms.
She finally took off towards your shared room. Mary and Marlene weren’t there, and she walked straight to the bathroom, gently laying you on top of the bathroom seat before turning on the tap and tempering the water. She added some of the potions she had in the bag to the water and then turned to you, you had already turned back.
“You think you can wash by yourself?” she asked.
You nodded “Thanks Lily,” you said again, she just smiled.
“If you need any help, just ask,” she told you, holding onto your hands, and helping you stand, even if you could’ve done it by yourself. “I’ll prepare some more of the dittany and silver essence paste. Make sure to be extra careful in that section, all right?”
You nodded “Yes doc,” you joked, for what she smacked you playfully.
“Go on then, you should probably lay back down for a while shortly after we’re done patching you up, especially since you can’t miss your classes tomorrow.”
You nodded and started taking off the pants Sirius had borrowed, Lily leaving the bathroom shortly after making sure you’d be able to finish stripping by yourself. You finished peeling off the rest of your clothes and slowly let yourself fall on the tub, the warmth quickly soothing your skin and muscles. Whatever Lily had put in there was definitely doing its magic, in the most literal sense. You allowed yourself to be completely engulfed by the water, holding your breath there for about a minute before bursting out again. Definitely better, you thought as you breathed in again.
You stayed there for a while, carefully rubbing your arms and legs, with the soapy water. You sighed when you spotted some of the bruises in your stomach. Pressing your finger on one of them only to wince. Even if they had only locked you up in an abandoned and haunted house, you would’ve been pissed, but what they did to you required revenge. You had held yourself back long enough, being patient and letting them taunt, ignoring them, hoping they’d get bored, for the sake of your friends, for Lily who’d made you promise not to mess with them. But not anymore, if being patient got you almost kiIIed, you’d retaliate. And boy, they would regret ever messing with you.
You weren’t sure how you’d do it, but you knew you’d make them regret it. You took a deep breath, trying to relax again, before finally standing up and wrapping yourself up in a towel, slowly patting yourself dry, but completely avoiding the open wound. Finally, you went to the mirror to wash your teeth, and you finally understood why everyone had been so worried about you. You imagined you looked beaten up, but the way Sirius had described you was probably the most accurate: “You look like you’re about to break apart.”
You stared at your broken reflection for a minute, the remnants of the previous night evidently imprinted all over your body. Even if you had managed to snatch sleep while you were with Sirius earlier, deep and rather sunken under-eye circles painted deep shadows beneath your eyes. Your usually soft lips were dry and chapped, and the section that had parted was already starting to heal, turning into a deep shade of brown. It still hurt when you stretched them.
You tilted your head backwards, moving the wet hair that clung to your neck back and traced your hand over the bruises left by Evan's thoughtless grasp. Each purple spot an echo of his strong fingers holding you still while stupid Barty mocked. Your jaw clenched, the memory alone was enough to rekindle the smouldering rage deep within you. Weak, a nagging little voice in your brain whispered, taunting you with cruel words, you were weak.
Your breath became ragged as your eyes welled up with angry tears. You contemplated punching the mirror, having it break beneath your fingers, as you shouted your rage off existence. But the mirror wasn’t at fault for the situation you had ended up in, neither had your would-be hurt hand. And whether it was due to cleverness or cowardice, you didn’t dare to do it. Especially since you knew the breaking glass would make too much noise and it would only worry Lily further, instead you gripped the sides of the sink until your knuckles turned white and you managed to calm down, taking deep breaths until your fury finally subdued.
You went through the potions on the counter, trying to see if the “radiant complexion” one you had made with the girls was still there, and thankfully it was. You smiled drily as you opened it and served some over the spoon you sometimes used to curl your lashes, taking it in one go, and wincing at the slightly bitter taste. You looked in the mirror again, the bruises were still there, but they had been significantly reduced in vibrance, if you also drank all the potions Lily had brought, they might be gone by tomorrow, the part in your lip was still there, but you weren’t hoping for it to disappear that fast either.
Your eyebags were almost completely gone, and with the magic of the bath still working all over your body you almost looked as new, the potion Lily had given you earlier effectively taking away almost all of the pain. A little bit more rest and potions and you were sure to look brand new by the next day. Well, almost, the claw marks wouldn’t heal nearly that fast, even with magical care, they were sure to stay for a while. No, it’ll stay forever, you remembered: Any bite or scratch obtained from a werewolf, whether in human or animal form, would leave a permanent scar.
You stared at the claw marks on your arm, the deep gush finally turning a darker shade of red, the dittany and silver were helping it heal, so much so you could almost see the way your skin was slowly fighting to restore itself.  You sighed, laughing a little as you shook your head. “It’s certainly going to be an interesting scar.”
After looking at it for just a little longer, you finished drying yourself up and put on the plaid pyjama pants Lily had left for you on top of the toilet seat. You struggled to put on a black tank top and wrapped the towel around your head.
When you walked outside, Lily was waiting for you sitting on your bed, a tray with a bunch of potions, the dittany and silver paste, and a couple of bandages placed right next to her. She smiled when she saw you walk out “You look much better.”
You smiled “I’ve got the best doc.”
Lily shook her head with a smile as she motioned for you to sit beside her, having you sit on the bed and inspecting your wound. “It really does look a lot better,” she said, sounding pleased “I’m going to put ointment again, and bandage it so you can sleep peacefully, all right?”
You nodded, and she started applying the thick creamy mixture. It was a light green and shiny metallic, you had been in so much pain earlier that you hadn’t even noticed the pretty colour it actually was, a little like Lily’s eyes.
She was just as kind and careful when she applied it as she’d been when she did it the first time around. And when she was done, she carefully wrapped your arm with the bandage.
“Thanks, Lily,” you said, for like the fifth time that day, but you didn’t know what else to say. How do you express how much gratitude you felt towards her if not by saying it over and over and over again?
“You’re welcome luv,” she said with a smile “It really is nothing, now, this is the medicine that you’re going to–“
“–I’m a quarter fairy,” you said all of a sudden.
“What?” she asked, a little confused.
“Yeah, I’m… I’m a quarter fairy, from my mother’s side.”
“And you’re telling me be–“
“–cause I trust you. I don’t think I’ve ever had someone like you as a friend, you’re incredible and I… I wanted to be honest with you...”
She quickly understood what you were saying, feeling both compelled and admired by the amount of trust you had given her, which is why she too said something she never expected to say out loud “–I think I’m in love with James Potter.”
And that, ladies gentlemen, felt like a cold bucket of water thrown right at your face with absolutely no warning. You were certainly not expecting that, or maybe you were, but it was shocking just the same, suddenly you smiled, so wide, and so happy, you completely ignored the stinging pain from your lip injury opening up again, “Lily that’s amazing!”
She let a rather choked laugh out, “Never thought I’d say that out loud.”
You shrugged, wincing at the sharp pain from your shoulder wound, but ignoring it either way. “Well that’s how you start, I’m sure you and James will make a wonderful couple.”
“God no! That’s too fast.”
“Why waste time? Trust me, I regretted not snogging Sirius sooner!”
“Ugh shut up!” she said, smiling just as wide as you. “Now it’s time to take your medicine.”
You gasped, still smiling “Lily Evans, don’t you dare change the subject!”
She raised her hands in rendition “I’m not!” she responded, “It’s time, look at the clock.”
Lily was still laughing, the two of you were, your arms falling up and down, as you shook your head and looked at your friend, finally deciding to let her off the hook and grabbing onto the potions, taking one at a time.
“Don’t you dare tell Potter!” She said then, an accusing finger at your face.
“As if he needed encouragement to go after you,” you responded before taking a long sip at one of the potions and wincing at the burning sensation, “but trust me, you’ll wish you had done it sooner,” you said with a wink before grabbing the bottle with the dropper and pouring five drops down your throat.
“Here, take three sips of this one too,” she said handing you another bottle, “this one’s specifically for bruises, it takes a bit to work but it’s really effective, some people use them for hickeys.”  You raised your eyebrows at her, but she gave you a warning look that you replied with an innocent shrug.
Eventually, and after a couple more vials, she dropped a small round oval-shaped candy-looking thing on your hand, “What does this one do?” you asked curiously.
“It’s a lemon sherbet,” she said as if it were obvious.
You looked at the candy and then back at her, a confused look on your face as you bit your lip ever so slightly “Does it like… help with the pain or soreness or…”
Lily gave you a confused frown “No? It just helps with the flavour.”
You looked at the little yellow ball one last time and plopped in your mouth, “Oh… it’s candy!” you said with a smile as a tangy, zesty lemon flavour exploded inside your mouth, both sweet and sour at the same time “It’s good.”
The redhead gave you a shocked look “You’re telling me you’d never tried a Lemon Sherbet?”
You shook your head “They’re not a thing back home,” you replied as you relished on the lemony taste of the candy.
“And here I thought you’d already gotten the entire English experience,” she said, you shrugged in response, holding your breath and lowering your shoulders a lot slower now, clenching your jaw as you let pain subdue. Lily gave you a sympathetic look “You better rest for a bit.” You tilted your head, a reproachful frown forming on your features. “None of that,” she said, shutting you down with a dismissive hand gesture “No puppy eye looks, time to sleep, doctor’s orders.”
“Fine then,” you said, slowly laying down on the bed, kicking your legs a little to dig them under the soft blanket, ignoring how sore they were, you weren’t sure you had ever run as much as last in your entire life “I’ll rest.”
Lily smiled, “I’ll shut the curtains before the girls arrive,” she said before going back to sit on her bed and picking up a book from her night table. You smiled and turned back to your ceiling, looking at it for a couple of minutes until you slowly drifted asleep.
November 24th, 1976
When you woke up again, it was due to hunger. No, not hunger, starvation. You looked at the clock, it was around 5 a.m. You had charms in 2 hours, you looked around, everyone was sleeping soundly on their beds, so you decided to quietly sneak towards the bathroom.
You stared at your reflection again, the potions had worked gracefully, Even if you were still sore, and your arm still ached, the bruises were almost completely gone, your lips looked plump again, even if they were still parted. You grabbed the same potion from yesterday and took another spoonful, the bruises finally disappeared. You looked brand new, even if you didn’t quite feel like it. You took some more of Lily’s painkiller potions and grabbed some cosmetics to make your eyebags less visible.
You looked at yourself again, “Good as new,” you muttered, taking a deep breath and stepping out of the bathroom, hearing your stomach rumble again. Everyone was still asleep, so you changed into your uniform, grabbing a couple of chocolate bars and stuffing them in your pockets, you’d take them to Remus when you had the chance.
You walked closer to Lily’s bed, and gently shook her awake. “I’m going to get myself something to eat from the kitchens, see you later at the Great Hall.”
Lily turned to you a little sleepy “I’ll come with…” she said, attempting to get up, but you stopped her.
“No, it’s your turn to rest. I’ll be alright, I feel a lot better.”
“Your bandages…”
“They’re good,” you reassured “We can change them after charms or during lunch.”
“You sure luv?”
You nodded with a smile “Yeah, totally, but I really need to eat,” you told her with a smile.
As you walked out you spotted Prongs sitting in the common room “You look a lot better,” he said as he motioned at you with a nod of his head “How you feeling.”
“Lils would be an incredible doctor,” you said as you turned around.
“She’s perfect,” James said with a sigh, you smiled but rolled your eyes either way. “Why are you awake?”
“Starving, you?”
“I woke up for a fly and then remembered both you and Sirius are knackered.”
“You could go by yourself,” you said with a shrug.”
“Yeah, I was going to… but then I remembered we planned to go see Remus before class, I’m waiting for the boys.”
You nodded, and sat down beside him, taking one of the chocolate bars from your pockets and unwrapping the chocolate.
James raised one of his eyebrows “What are you doing? Weren’t you starving?”
You took a bite from the chocolate “Oh I am, but I’m tagging along with you guys instead, I haven’t seen Rem since that night.”
“You sure you’re not too hungry?” he asked as he watched you devour the chocolate and vanish the wrapping with the swish of your wand.
“Yeah, totally,” you replied as you pulled another bar from your uniform. James raised one of his eyebrows but didn’t say anything else. Meanwhile, you were already imagining the sausage you’d have for breakfast afterwards.
Peter came down first “Oh Vixen! You look great!” he said when he saw you, still munching on the second bar of chocolate.
You blinked a couple of times after hearing the nickname drop so naturally from his lips, “Thanks Wormmy…” you responded, almost tentatively.
He smiled at that and gave you a thumbs up. Permission, you realised, that was Peter’s way of letting you into the group, whether on purpose or not, you were one of them now.
Sirius came down next, taking faster strides when he spotted you, when he was right in front of you, he leaned down, levelling his head with yours and placing both hands on the sides of your head to carefully inspect you, he was clearly surprised, “I feel like you were switched at night, other than your lip you look like nothing happened,” he said as he moved your head to the side to try and take a peek at your neck, you groaned in response.
“Yeah, the soreness’s still there though,” you muttered. “But the potions did an incredible job.”
Sirius nodded in agreement, “We’re going to see Moony, wanna join in?”
“That’s why I’m still here,” you replied with a small smile. Sirius looked at you for a second before leaning over just a bit more and pressing his lips to your softly. You smiled, but raised an eyebrow questioningly “What was that for?”
“Just because,” he replied, mirroring your smile.
“All right love puppies, time to go,” Peter said as he stood up, James mirrored his actions.
“Love puppies?” you questioned with a gasp as you stood up, using the hand Sirius had offered to do so.
“Well, Vixen and Padfoot are both canines so yeah, you’re love puppies,” he replied, matter of factly.
James turned around instantly, a raised finger and a playful smile on his face “Spot on!”
Peter smiled and nodded in return, you and Sirius eyed each other at their interaction, but continued walking behind them. Sirius stood really close to you, so close your hands were brushing with each other as you walked, it was as if after being so close to you while you cuddled him on his bed, he couldn’t get enough of you. And he really couldn’t.
He had gone to see Moony after you left with Lily, he had stayed with him for a while and they joked and talked for a couple of hours like they always did. And it’s not that he wasn’t worried for Remus, he always got a little queasy when the boy was bedridden, especially since most moons after they became animagus had been a lot easier on his friend.
But he also knew Remus was strong, he’d seen him get up time and time again after looking like he had snogged a dementor, so pale he downright looked like a vampire instead of a werewolf. But every single time Remus got better in a matter of days, maybe a little sore and snappy after particularly rough moons but he always got better. You on the other hand… Sirius had never seen you as bruised and bIoodied like the previous night. So tired you looked like you might fall apart, so desperate and scared.
Because you had been scared, he knew, even if you masked it wonderfully, he knew the signs, he had used the same techniques to hide his own emotions in the past, the worst part is that Sirius wasn’t sure if you had been scared for yourself or if you had been scared for Moony instead. Either way, when you turned back into a human, and he saw all the bruises for the first time it took him all the strength he had not to crumble at the sight.
You had looked pale and tired and he had never quite realised how delicate you actually were before that. Sure, he knew you were soft, softer than the boys, softer than Remus, but the bruises on your face, simply from a hand gripping you too tight, were almost shocking. And it’s not that you were so fragile that he thought you were going to break apart, heck he knew how strong you were, he’d seen you play quidditch, getting up after falls time and time again, but he was shocked how much more fragile you were in comparison to him.
And it bothered him, no, it irked him, that no matter how much you probably fought the Slytherins they had overpowered you either way. It made him scared for you like he’d never been for anyone in his life, except maybe from Moony, when the incident happened.
Even if Remus was much stronger, there had been something weird going on in his head last night, he knew, but wasn’t sure what that could’ve been, he was a lot quieter than usual. Sirius asked him about it but the boy said it was because of the Skellegro. Sirius knew he was lying but didn’t press further, instead, he offered to stay the night.
“I can stay, you know? I mean we might not fit in the same bed like we did when we were kids but I could pull a couple of chairs and stay over.”
“Please no! I won’t be able to sleep with your snoring,” Remus said humorously, it was a total lie, he didn’t care about Sirius’ snoring, but he knew for sure he’d rather stare at the boy sleep than sleep himself.  It was better to kick Sirius away.
When Sirius returned from talking to Remus, he took a quick shower and threw himself in his bed again, it smelled of you, and he couldn’t help but worry for you again. He wanted to jump off his bed and sneak into your room just to make sure you were better. He could not help but replay in his head how you had almost begged for him to stay with you instead of getting a cloak or something to bring you in. He felt like he had abandoned you, even if it was you the one that left the room with Lily. He couldn’t be with Remus and he couldn’t be with you. Sirius had slept terribly that night.
You leaned closer to him, wrapping your index and thumb over his pinky finger “You all right Puppy?” you asked him politely.
That seemed to finally snap Sirius out of his thoughts, he smiled instantly, looking at how much better you looked and nodded “Yeah, fantastic,” he responded, turning his hand and wrapping it around yours, you gave him a reassuring squeeze and he returned it shortly after.
The four of you entered the infirmary shortly after. Madam Pomfrey was there, and she smiled when she saw you, “Oh! Hi sweetheart, how are those nightmares going? You’re here to see Mr. Lupin, aren’t you? I sort of expected to see you yesterday, I assume you were rather busy.”
“Yeah, uh… I think those nightmares won’t be coming back anymore,” you said with a little smile, Sirius squeezed your hand. “How’s Rem?”
“A lot better, he should be checking out by tomorrow,” she said with a smile “Poor boy had a really tough time as I was fixing him up,” you winced, Pomfrey assumed it was because you imagined the situation, rather than the real reason: you felt guilty.
“Can we see him?” Peter asked with a very polite smile. He looked like the kind of kid that would instantly be liked by adults in that very second.
Pomfrey nodded with a tight smile “I’ll go see if he’s awake,” she said before disappearing to the back of the room in between a couple of curtains.
“You think he’s feeling better?” you asked, turning to the boys.
James nodded “I’m sure he’s better. You were with him last night, Pads, how was he?”
Sirius turned his gaze on you “A lot better than you were when you left, so stop worrying.”
You were about to say something in return when Pomfrey came back with an apologetic expression on her face “I’m sorry kids, but Remus is asleep at the moment. Why don’t you come back later?”
You let out a disappointed sigh when you heard it but nodded. Finally realising how silly it was to visit Remus so early in the morning, he would be better off sleeping in, you had certainly felt a lot better after sleeping yourself.
“Well then, the great hall it is,” James said, turning to you, which would have offended you had it not been for the rumbling in your belly after he said it. You still felt impossibly hungry. Then James went over and placed his arm over your shoulders, which caused you to yelp since he accidentally brushed your wound.
James removed his arm in an instant and scurried away from Sirus’ hand, which had gone straight for a slap in the back of his head.
“You alright sweetie?” Pomfrey asked, concerned.
You turned to her while you thought of a decent excuse “Yeah, I was just surprised, I guess I’m still a bit sleepy,” you smiled apologetically, “We’re really sorry for making so much noise Madam Pomfrey, we’ll be on our way.”
She nodded in response and you hurried outside. Once far enough James turned to you with a worried frown “Are you okay? I didn’t ruin all of Lily’s work, did I?”
You wished you could actually get angry at James, but he was so genuinely worried that there was no way you could, so you just shook your head with a sigh “Just be careful, it stung like a bitch.”
“I’ll buy you any food you want at Hogsmeade on Saturday to make up for it.”
You turned to him with a raised eyebrow “James you can’t.”
“What do you mean I can’t?” James said with a frown, looking about ready to argue that he could spend his money however the hell he pleased.
“Saturday’s the 27th,” Peter added.
James went pale, that was the day of his date with Lily.

You let out a sigh as you flopped onto your best friend’s sofa, letting your eyes flicker closed. She silently sips her tea as she lets you have your dramatic moment before setting down her cuppa and chuckling at you in amusement. You open one eye and glance at her before finally sitting up and opening both eyes.
“Was it that bad?” She chuckled rubbing her tiny baby bump.
“He came in the first five minutes, then had the audacity to ask if he could see me again.” You deadpanned making Lily snort behind her hand.
“Can’t say I’ve ever had that problem.” Lily bragged playfully making your sneer at her.
“Yes, I’m sure your very handsome Marauder has no problems making you cum. Bitch.” You huffed making her smirk at you.
“I think the other two are still single if you want one.” She giggled softly making you roll your eyes.
“We’ve both known those lot since school and not once has either shown an interest in me. I think it’s safe to say I was never invited to board that ship.” You snorted as you picked up your cup and took a sip of the hot liquid.
“That’s only because I told them to leave you alone. Didn’t want them breaking your heart specially Pads. He broke a new heart every week that boy.” She rolled her eyes making you chuckle.
“Who said I’d have gone for Pads? Hmm?” You smirked making her eyes widen.
“Moony?” She exclaimed gaping at you.
“Oh yeah, I’d have let that hunky werewolf bang me all over Hogwarts if I’d of had the chance.” You whispered as you pretend to fan yourself though your cheeks had blushed.
“Is that so?” A male voice chuckled behind you making your eyes widen.
You spun around to see James stood there with a smirk on his face. Your eyes widened as you looked at Lily for help making her roll her lips to suppress her laugh. You looked back towards James with an awkward smile.
“Keep that to yourself, Prongs, or I’ll kill you.” You huffed as you pressed the back of your hands to your cheeks trying to cool them down.
“Hell, no. I’m gonna tell him word for word!” James snickered as he started to run off like a bloody child making you set your cuppa down and run after him.
“James! I swear to fucking god you better not sa—heeeey, Moony, Pads.” You greeted as you ran into James’ Office to find him hiding behind Remus his face smirking at you over the man’s shoulder.
“You keep your mouth shut, Potter, or I’ll de-ball you while you sleep!” You hissed as you prepared to run at him again.
“Oooo scary!” James taunted with fake fear on his face.
“I will honestly never understand why my smoking hot bestie even fell in love with such a giant man child.” You growled as you ran around Remus, James instantly going to opposite way making you glare at him.
“What exactly did you do, Prongs?” Remus asked as you both danced around him.
“He overheard girl talk.” You muttered shyly as you looked up at Remus who was smiling softly at you.
“Oh yeah, she was talking about someone we knew from school and about how she’d happily have let said person bang her all over Hogwarts, back in school.” James smirked as he wiggled his brows suggestively.
“Shut your face before I shut it for you, Potter. LILY!” You screamed as you launched at James effectively tackling him to the floor which instantly winded both of you. However, James recovered and stood up throwing you over his shoulder just as Lily came in looking at the scene before her.
“Prongs, let the poor girl go.” Moony sighed as he gripped your waist and lifted you off James shoulder with ease making your face flush instantly.
He lowered you to the ground with ease that made your heart and pussy clench. ‘Oh Merlin that’s hot’, you thought as you looked up at him with flushed cheeks. He smiled softly but the sound of James and Sirius laughing hysterically broke you out of your trance as they stared at you knowingly.
“You two are bloody arseholes!” You huffed before storming out the room but hearing Lily scold James as you stomped downstairs.
“Why did you marry such a wanker?” You asked seriously making her almost choke on thin air.
“It’s the multiple orgasms for me.” She snorted making you burst out laughing.
“Lily Potter!” You scolded playfully.
“So…” She whispered wiggling her brows but making sure not to say anything out loud fearing the boys were being nosey.
“How mad are you that I didn’t tell you?” You asked softly as she shook her head in response.
“Not mad, but had you told me, I totally could’ve set you guys up sooner.” Lily chuckled with a raised brow.
“You’re not gonna set us up because he’s not interested.”
***** Meanwhile in James Office.*****
“You should stop teasing her she’s always been shy and rather innocent.” Remus scolds James making him smirk.
“She’s not that innocent the sentence ‘I’d of let that hunky we-man bang me all over Hogwarts if I’d of had the chance’ doesn’t really scream innocent.” James snorted making Remus’s eyes widen a little.
“Yes, talking to her best friend of 8 years. She wouldn’t of said that to you, me or Sirius would she?” Remus chuckled as he sat on the sofa in the office.
“No, she definitely wouldn’t have said it to you that’s for sure.” James snickered to Sirius making Remus look at James with a glare until everything kind of clicked in his head.
“Are you saying what I think you’re saying?” Remus asked with a smirk.
“That your favourite innocent little y/n said she’d let you bang her all over?” Sirius smirked making James snicker.
“Does Lily’s no dating or shagging her bestie rule still stand?” Remus asked seriously making James’ eyes widen.
“I think she’d make an exception for you however if you hurt her, I’ll kill you myself. I may tease her but she like my little sister and if your gonna break her heart, Moony, don’t bother.” James stated seriously making Remus raised a brow at him.
“Do I look like Pads?” He chuckled making James laugh as Sirius scoffed dramatically clutching his chest.
**********
You were stood in the small baby shop with Lily scanning through different cute little sleep-suits and baby vests as soon as you saw one with auntie on it you squealed excitedly and threw it over your arm knowing you’d buy it. You turned around to show Lily just in time to see the marauders walk into the shop looking around until they spotted you and Lily.
Remus had a dark red v neck oversized jumper on with a pair of light denim baggy jeans that were rolled up at the bottom and a pair of brown combat boots. Fuck he looked good. Lily nudged you quickly, effectively snapping you out of your daze.
“What are you boys doing here?” Lily chuckled as she kissed her husband’s cheek.
“We were at the bookstore and decided we’d drop by and see if you ladies would like to take a break from making a dent in my vault and grab lunch with us?” James snickered as his wife shot him a glare.
“Yes, I’m starving! Let me pay for these and we’ll get going.” You exclaimed, grabbing all the ones out of Lily’s arms before you ran over to the till to pay.
You ignored Lily as she protested that she would pay for them. You quickly paid as the boys wandered over to take the bags. You raised an eyebrow at Lily who was looking at them with narrowed eyes. They were up to something. You and Lily shared a knowing look as you followed the boys out of the shop, intent to find out what they were up to.
Lily clung to James’ bicep as you walked to the pub to grab lunch. Sirius had his arms around James should as Lily scolded him which made you smile. You guys weren’t in school anymore, yet everything still feels the same. Sirius would flirt with everyone and sleep with the ones he felt like, while you and Lily constantly told him off for treating women like toys and he did love a good prank.
Then there’s obviously James who was an arsehole. He couldn’t take anything seriously, he bullied plenty of people, and much like Sirius, loved a good prank. Well until Lily kept scolding him like a naughty child, until eventually he did stop, then he was more like the puppy that would follow Lily everywhere.
Remus’s nose was always in a book he was his own brand of ladies' man. He was mature, kind, handsome yet he still he held an air of mystery to most women. Though you being best friends with them meant you knew what that secret was.
He’s a werewolf. The week leading up to the change he was always more protective of loved ones but then in the days before the full moon he’d switch. He’d grow distant, more snappy and could be territorial over everything. You shouldn’t find that hot, as you can imagine he always felt guilty after the full moon, but every time he growled at someone it sent shivers down your spine straight to your core.
Remus walked next to you silently as he held onto two of the bags that you girls had been carrying, you more than Lily as she’s pregnant. You glance at him noticing he’s looking down at you. You instantly flush as you looked back towards the ground.
“You look very pretty today, Bunny.” Remus whispered as he leaned over so he was at your level continuing to walk towards the pub, purposely keep the same pace as you.
“I-I do?” You stuttered as you glanced down at your puffy long sleeved black turtleneck jumper, an Aline brown and red plaid skirt that went past your knees and a pair of black Mary Jane heels.
Your hair was in a messy low ponytail with curly pieces falling around your face. You had eyeliner, mascara and wine-red lipstick. Honestly you hadn’t put much thought into your clothes not realising the boys would be joining you. You should’ve worn something sexier, you thought sadly as you looked back up to meet his deep brown eyes.
“Yes, you do.” He chuckled as he offered you his free arm making you blush as you shyly took his offered arm and wrapped your arms his much like Lily and James were doing.
You walked for another minute or so, arm in arm with Remus as you entered the pub immediately following Sirius, James and Lily as they sat at a table big enough for all of you. Remus slipped his arm away from yours much to your disappointment, however that didn’t last long as he pulled out a chair for you, easily moving your seat closer to the table with you sitting on it.
You flushed as Lily watched with a suspicious gaze which you quickly returned as if something was going on and thats when it clicked and you let out a gasp before picking up a salt shaker from the centre of the table throwing it straight at James head making everyone except Lily look at you like you'd gone mad.
“You fucking told him.” You hissed making his eyes widened.
“N-No! He figured it out himself!” James defended as he rubbed his head staring at his wife for help but Lily just shot a glare at him.
“How’d you figure it out, anyway?” Sirius chuckled making your eyes snap towards him with a look that would’ve frozen him had he not been used to getting that look during school.
“You guys hate coming shopping, you hate carrying our bags and Remus is being flirtier. You think I wouldn’t figure that out? Remus never flirts with me.” You snorted as you shot Remus a glare.
“In all fairness I never flirted because of Lily’s rules.” He defended himself as he leaned on the table his chin perched on his palm as he stared into your eyes causing you to flush a soft pink.
“You’re so lucky your pregnant Lily or I might’ve given you the pepper to match your husbands salt.” You whispered over the table making her smirk.
“I was protecting your heart, body and soul.” She argued making you roll your eyes.
“You do realise I did all of those things, right? I wasn’t bloody innocent virgin, Lily!” You whisper yelled at her making her eyes narrow.
“I thought your first time was last ye-OH MY MERLIN! It was 7th year, right?” Lily glared making you look away with flushed cheeks.
“Maybe.” You mumbled making every look at you in shock. In 7th year you often disappeared reappearing looking dishevelled but thankfully no one even noticed.
“Who!?” Lily shrieked making you flinch.
You glanced between your friends and looked at Sirius flushing bright red making him frown as all your friend looked at him with anger. You looked away unwilling to saying hoping Sirius would correct them because you sure as hell didn’t want to.
“Sirius!” Lily scream making his gape at her.
“It wasn’t m-OH for the love of merlin! You DIDN’T?” He groaned as he pulled a disgusted face.
“Regulus? Seriously?” Sirius gagged around his name making you flush bright red.
“Don’t judge me Pads!” You hissed as you avoided looking at anyone.
“Eww. Do you have any other school sex stories you didn’t tell me?” Lily huffed with a pout.
“No just Reggie.” You huffed as you rolled your eyes.
“And since then?” Lily asked with narrowed eyes making you roll yours.
“Only the ones I’ve told you about.” You chuckled making her nod in response.
“So: him; last year; and then the date last week.” Lily confirmed making you flush bright red.
“Can we stop talking about my very short and boring sex life. Please and thank you.” You huffed as you began chugging your butterbeer whilst glancing at Remus who had been more quiet than usual.
“I love how everyone just forgot that Y/N said she’d let Remus bang her all over Hogwarts.” Sirius exclaimed making you choke on your butterbeer.
“Actually, she said: ‘Oh yeah, I’d of let that hunky werewolf bang me all over Hogwarts if I’d of had the chance’ in those exact words.” James snickered making you flush a brighter red as Remus bit his lower lip to stop from smiling.
“I actually hate you.” You groaned as you repeatedly smacked your head off the table until a hand was slid onto the table underneath your head.
“Bunny, stop or you’re gonna hurt yourself.” Remus scolded you as he lifted up your face by gripping your chin gently.
You stared into his eyes the nickname he’d also used earlier making your heart melt. He brushed away the hair from your face, assessing the damage already done to your forehead. You got lost in watching him fuss over you completely forgetting that your friends were there.
He finally finished fussing his eyes instantly gazing into yours as he smiled happily. You smiled back shyly before moving to fiddle with your now empty glass. You glanced up to see James, Lily and Sirius staring at you with smug smirks which you returned with a glare.
********
After lunch you all decided to call it a day to which Remus instantly offered to escort you home. You gave him a smile as you wrapped your arm around his and began walking the short distance to your flat. You stopped at your door, turning to unlock it before turning round to face Remus again.
“Would you like to come in?” You asked sweetly.
“I would but it’s getting close to the full moon so I was gonna grab a smoke and chill out.” He muttered awkwardly making you laugh.
“I have weed and I promise I won’t steal your food.” You giggled as you gave him a sweet smile.
“Deal.” He chuckled as he followed you into the flat quietly.
It wasn’t his first time there as you all spent time at each other’s places. He flopped onto your sofa as you grabbed snacks and your tin filled with weed, tabaco and papers. You flopped down next to him and began rolling a joint. You lit the joint with wordless magic taking a few drags before passing it to Remus.
He laid back smoking the joint for a while before passing it back to you. He used his wand to turn on your vinyl player letting the sound of music fill the silence. You both zoned out as Remus started laughing making you giggle as you looked at him.
“What?” You asked making him laugh more.
“What is this music?” He laughed making you grin as you listened to which vinyl was playing.
“This is my mix-vinyl. I tweaked the songs with magic so I could have more than one artist on it.” You giggled as the song playing had ended.
“Oh my merlin, I love this song!” You squealed as you stood up doing a little carefree spin as you looked down at Remus who was watching you in amusement as you began dancing around the room.
“Wooo shake it, bunny!” Remus shouted as you began shaking your hips to the beat.
“Gimmie gimmie gimmie a man after midnight!” You sang with a grin as Remus cheered from his seat.
You kept swishing your skirt around you as you danced happily to the music as Remus began munching on a pack of walkers crisps. You flopped down next to him panting from your impromptu dancing session. Remus wiped the sweat from your brow with his sleeve before holding on of the cans of pop toward you urging you to take a sip before giving a crisp in your mouth.
Your eyes widened unsure if he even realised he’d not only gave you his food despite always being so territorial about it and sat fussing over you. You’d noticed him do that a lot today, but you were unsure whether it was unintentional or if he’d known he was doing it.
You decided to just take a leap of faith. You were high and feeling rather confident so without another thought you climbed onto his lap and planted a kiss straight on his lips. He didn’t even hesitate. His arms wrapped around your waist pulling you closer as he tilted his head kissing you deeper.
You whined against his lips as his hands slid down your back to you ass gripping it firmly in his hands. You moaned into his mouth your tongue tangling with his as you tugged on his hair. He finally pulled away, looking into your eyes with a lustful gaze.
“I don’t want a one time thing. I want all of you.” Remus whispered huskily making your heart leap with happiness.
“Y-Yes, totally down for that.” You stuttered, blushing bright red as you fiddled with the hem of your sleeves.
“Fucking Lily’s fault. Could’ve had you all this time, Bunny.” He groaned before pulling you into a heated kiss.
He wrapped your legs around him before standing up and walking towards your bedroom. He kicked the slightly open door before using his foot to close it before lowering you both onto the bed, your lips never breaking apart. You gasped as he ground his hardened member against your clothed heat, your long skirt lifted completely exposing your panties.
“Need you to tell me if I get too rough, Bunny.” Remus growled as he began ridding you and him of clothing until you were both naked. You flushed but nodded softly making him shake his head.
“Ah ah, I need verbal response, baby, or I’ll stop now.” He instructed making your heat clench around nothing.
“Y-Yes Moony.” You whispered shyly making him smile softly.
“Good girl.” He chuckled softly as he began placing kisses all over your body, biting the spots that were more sensitive.
He moved down until you could feel his breath on your heat making you flush bright red. Yes you had this before, Regulus had been a generous lover but not since school. Remus practically inhaled your scent while biting the inside of your thigh.
“Spread your legs for me, Bunny.” He whispered against the now stinging skin of your thigh. You instantly spread your legs gazing down at him in a daze.
“Such a obedient girl, aren’t you, Love?” He chuckled teasingly as he ran his finger through your soaking wet folds.
“M-Moony…please.” You whined as he kept edging towards your clit with his fingers before moving away.
Without another word Remus did what you asked. His tongue licking up you slit before he began drawing random shapes with his tongue gently. Your back arched off the bed as you moaned desperately, your hand clutching the sheets as you resisted the urge to thrust against his tongue.
“Fuck, you taste so good, Bunny, could do this all day.” He growled against your heat making you blush as you let out a needy moan.
“S-So good—Remus f-fuck!” You cried out as he eased two of his fingers inside you curling them upwards perfectly hit that sweet spot as his tongue continued lapping at and around your clit.
You’d never felt this good. You could feel ever nerve ending reacting to him as you spread your legs more, using your feet to push your hips off the bed as you began to chase the release you could feel building. However, when you began moving your hips Remus’s free hand came down on your inner thigh slapping against the skin hard.
“Stay still or I’ll spank your ass, bunny.” He scolded and that was all it took you came clenching around his fingers as your legs shook from the intensity.
“Fuuuuck, Remus!” You moaned loudly as you clutched at the sheets as if to ground yourself.
“Did you just cum because I slapped your thigh or because of what I said?” He groaned as he helped you ride out your orgasm with his fingers.
“B-Both.” You whimpered as your legs twitched a little as he pulled his fingers away from your heat and bringing them up to his mouth and sucking them clean making you soaked sensitive heat clench around nothing.
You suddenly remembered this whole time Remus had been naked and you had yet to look at his cock. Your eyes wandered down your body as you took in his sculptured abdomen that was littered with scars just like the rest of him. He was perfect. Finally, your eyes found his member and you suddenly leaned your head back silently praying to Merlin it would fit.
“You look like a scared little bunny.” Remus chuckles teasingly as his hands grip your hips.
“You’re so mean, Remy.” You whined as you flushed bright red.
“Come here, Baby…don’t worry M’gonna treat you so good.” Remus mumbled as he kissed up your thighs with a smug smirk on his lips. It was something you rarely got to see with Remus as he was usually the sweet, mature one.
He lifted your legs bending them so your hole was shamelessly exposed making you flush a deeper shade of red. You felt so exposed and vulnerable in this position, yet you were so turned as you got a full view of Remus gliding his cock through the wetness of your heat.
You moaned at the feeling of the head of his member pressing against your clit before he dragged it back through your folds. His lips twitched into another smirk as he finally began pushing his member inside you.
“Fuck, you’re tight.” Remus growled as he pushed in inch by inch.
You mouth widened in a silent scream as you clawed at his forearms there was a burn yet you’d never felt so full. When he was fully in, he stilled in that positions as he brought his hand down to softly tease your clit causing you to whine and whimper as you felt yourself relaxing and the pain subsiding.
“That’s it, Bunny…taking me so well.” He praised as he began thrusting so slowly inside you, never stopping his motions on your clit.
“M-Moony.” You panted as you wrapped your arms around the backs of your knees your eyes flickering to the sight of his hard member sliding in and out of you.
“So good for me, aren’t you, Baby?” Remus groaned as he picked up his pace a little instantly brushing past your sweet spot with each thrust.
You couldn’t speak the only thing coming out of your mouth was a string of loud filthy moans that seemed to make Remus’s cock twitch the louder you were. His fingers never stopped teasing your clit making another orgasm build faster than you’d expected. You had, had multiple orgasms but never this intense and never this fast.
“You gonna cum again, pretty little bunny?” He teased with a wicked grin on his face.
“Mhmm.” Was all you could say making his grin widen.
He didn’t comment but his smile spoke volumes. He sped up his thrust and his fingers making your back once again arch off the bed as you felt your legs start shaking from the intensity.
“Cum for me, Bunny.” He growled as he spit on your clit when it started getting dry.
That was enough you felt yourself tighten around him making his thrust slow down with how tight you’d gotten. You screamed his name as your leg shook in your arms, your nails digging into the flesh of your inner thighs. He paused his movement for a second letting you come down, his hand moving from your clit before he began fucking into you like a man possessed.
You were so sensitive from your last orgasm you screamed as you released your legs and wrapped them around Remus as he gripped your hips tightly as he pounded into you. You could feel something building again but it felt different. You reached up and bring him down to cling onto him, your nails biting into his skin.
“Oh fuck, fuck, fuuuck!” You screamed as you felt the cool inside you begin to snap again.
“Fuck, Y/N.” Remus growled as he began cumming inside you.
You came against but it caused Remus to slip out as he counties jacking himself all over your heat watching with dazed eyes making you look down to see little gushes of clear white liquid coming from your pussy. You flushed bright red as you twitched, finally you stopped cumming. You felt embarrassed you arms instantly coming up to cover your face.
“Hey. Bunny, I need you to listen to me, okay?” He whispered as he moved your arms.
“You did so good for me baby. Such a good girl for me.” Remus stated as he left small kisses along your face.
“R-Really?” You mumbled shyly as you looked into his eyes.
“Mhmm my good girl. Gonna keep you forever.” Remus chuckled making you giggle.
**********
You woke up to the sound of someone pounding on your door making you sigh as you threw on Remus’s jumper that he had somehow took off with magic but also folded it. You looked at the sleeping naked man in your bed smiling happily before you dragged yourself to the front door and opened it slowly. You saw Lily, James and Sirius stood there with raised brows.
“Come on get dressed, we’re gonna go see Moony before he has to lock himself away for the moon.” Sirius exclaimed cheerfully as he pushed into the flat, Lily and James following as you stood there with a blank look.
“Sure, come on in guys.” You scoffed sarcastically as you walked over to the kettle and flicked it on grabbing to cups.
“Forget the tea. We’ll have tea at Moony’s.” Sirius groaned dramatically as he rested his head on your shoulder watching you make tea.
“That’s not how I like my tea.” Sirius huffed making you roll your eyes.
Suddenly the sound of growling was prominent in the room making Sirius spin around to see Remus stood there in only his jeans from yesterday. You raised a brow at Remus stepping away from Sirius making Remus’s face relaxed which for some reason made you grin. You stepped closer to Sirius again putting your hand on Sirius’s chest and Remus glared at him letting out another growl.
“So hot.” You giggled as you bound over to Remus who instantly wrapped his arms around you, pulling you against his chest possessively.
“Fuck yes! Gimmie my money, gentlemen!” Lily laughed as she held out her hand.
“Couldn’t of waited till after the moon?” Sirius groaned as he handed over his money.
“Better than me, I said it would take another 6 months!” James sighed passing his pregnant wife money.
“Idiots.” You snorted before snuggling into Remus who pecked your forehead gently.
Fuck yes! You got the hunky werewolf.

"Are you cold?"
You're sitting across from Remus on a blanket he stole from Lily. He's not sorry about stealing it, but he is sorry that he didn't think to steal another to wrap around you. It's the middle of December and even though you're bundled up in one of the university's merch jumpers and a puffy jacket, Remus is worried this date is his worst idea - like, ever - and that you're going to freeze to death. But despite the cold, thin air, you're smiling happily over at Remus, gloved hands wrapped around a cheap hot chocolate from the canteen and your cheeks rounded out in a smile.
You look so gorgeous, Remus thinks. Your nose has gone slightly red from the cold, and your cheeks have followed suit, but your eyes are glistening with the glow of the festive fairy lights hanging from the lampposts in the distance that line the walk ways of the university grounds. He'd really like to kiss you, he thinks. He has done. Twice, since that day in the library. It'd made his knees buckle both times. Once, leaving the pub a little tipsy and dazed, high off of the flirtatious talking and touching all night, pressed up against the wall with the smell of smoke in the air, and once more when he'd dropped you off at your flat door. That one had been sweet, much softer than the one outside of the pub. A simple goodnight followed by bashful smiles and a heartfelt promise to see each other again soon.
He doesn't kiss you, but he does rub a doting hand up and down your leg, attempting to bring some warmth to it under your thin leggings, even when you protest and promise him devotedly that you're okay. How could you not be? You're there with him, after all. Remus concedes under your assurances, moving so he's directly next to you. Thigh to thigh, shoulder to shoulder. He can smell the sweetness of your perfume, the strawberry of your shampoo, and he's so beyond grateful you've given him an opportunity to be so close to you, again.
"So, are you gonna tell me why we're out here?" You ask Remus, head turned and tilted to look up at him.
You're giving him that smile. The one that makes his chest hurt and his blood thrum in his veins. The one that he likes to believe means you're happy to be spending time with him, that you're enjoying yourself, that you'd be happy to be out here counting the blades of iced over grass just because he's there. You'd never admit it if he asked, but you know in yourself it's true. You'd sit here all night freezing your arse off with shitty canteen hot chocolate just to spend time with Remus Lupin. It's sick, honestly. Marlene would laugh at you something awful.
Remus hums, eyes flitting to your lips distractedly before he remembers himself, "The stars."
It's a poor explanation, Remus knows, but he hopes you remember your tipsy giggles, the way you'd gushed about how pretty the stars were this deep into the countryside, and how you'd love to know everything you possibly could about every last one. Well. Remus isn't good at a lot. He's constantly forgetting to remove his reds from his washing and dying all of his clothes pink, he can't cook to save his life, he can't sing, or wax poetic, but he can sure as hell lie on the freezing cold ground in the middle of December and tell you about the constellations. For goodness sakes, it's part of his degree.
The excited smile that comes over your face does absolutely nothing good for Remus' heart rate nor his sanity. He thinks you're going to drive him mad. James says it's not possible. He did, eventually, ask if your beauty could be a leading factor in Remus' inevitable death via heart attack and James confidently told him that it's simply not possible. Remus disagrees. What does he know, anyway? He's not even fully qualified, yet. Idiot.
"Ooooh," You shimmy impossibly closer to Remus excitedly, eyes alight with joy, and pull him to lay down with you.
He complies, your bodies pressed together and emulating a warmth that shouldn't be possible for the minus two degree weather. It startles Remus how right this all feels. You're here, with him. Pressed comfortably to his side, your left hand threaded through his right, puffs of cold air coming from your mouths and fading away into the night air. He'd not sure what he ever did to deserve such an opportunity, but he'll be damned if he's not going to make the most of it. Of his time with you.
"Okay, so, this one." You point to a cluster of stars directly above you both with the hand that's not interlocked with his.
Remus does his best to follow, mapping with his eyes the collection of stars you've pointed to. "That's Orion. Most visible in the UK during the winter, supposed to be January til' April, but it's a really clear night, I s'pose."
You hum to show you're listening, lips parted ever so slightly, and Remus extends his own hand, "If you follow southeast from here," he wiggles his finger and you press the index finger of yours to his, following his line with a giggle, "it leads to Sirius."
"Brightest star in the sky." You whisper, voice in awe of the bright, twinkling star just right of you both.
Remus scoffs. Hell if he'd ever forget it, he's heard his best friend proclaim it enough times. You seem to come to this realisation, too, laughing and pushing the side of your face into Remus' shoulder. He rests his head atop yours, allowing you to take the warmth and hiding place from him, continues on in his mini-astronomy lesson with a finger pointed at a new collection of stars.
"Ursa Major is over here," His voice is a quiet murmur, careful and sticky sweet, "It's like, one of the most famous in the Northern Hemisphere. It's known as 'The Great Bear'."
He looks down to find you staring at the cluster of stars with a smile he can't read. He thinks it's you realising how big the universe is, how small you and Remus are, in comparison. Remus would disagree. He thinks wherever this thing with you goes, his feelings are going to carry on throughout the entirety of the universe. He's sure of that much. And listen, he's studied an astounding amount about the universe, it's gravitational pulls, the sheer size of it, the possibility that there are more out there. He's spent hours upon hours writing thesis papers, studying the actual cold hard facts, the universe is massive. That's a simple statement in and of itself.
But Remus knows. He knows for damn well sure that he's going to fall head over heels in love with you, and he's going to make sure that love fills every single bit of the universe there is to cover. He's not an idiot, though. He's not going to tell you that on the first - official, anyway - date. He thinks maybe you're having a similar thought process, though. At least, he'd like to think.
"Do you ever think about how tiny we actually are?" Your voice is soft, awe stricken, almost, and he doesn't have to look down at you to know your kind eyes are still roaming the night sky.
He makes an amused sort of hum, lips tilting into a cocky smirk and you meet his gaze, a questioning look lingering there. "Well, no. 'Cause I'm a whopping six foot and you're five foot nothing, love."
Your eyes light up when you scoff, using your free hand to whack at his chest and Remus laughs. It's loud and it's obnoxious but you're laughing too. His eyes find yours again, soft and careful, hoping you can read just how genuine he's being when he tells you, "All the time. In the grand scheme of things, we are specks of nothingness. At least, I used to think that."
Your brows furrow, Remus reaches up to pad his thumb over the crease lines before you can even talk, "Why don't you anymore?"
Remus shrugs. Is it too sappy to admit you've singlehandedly changed his opinion on such a subject in the three weeks he's properly known you? Is that coming on too strong?
You're looking up at him, soft lips parted, waiting on an answer and Remus decides fuck it, he's not going to ever refrain from telling you how much power you have over him. "You."
"Me?"
Remus nods, the ghost of an overly fond smile on his lips as he reaches up to push a fallen strand of hair away from your face, "Yeah. How could a girl like you be anything like an insignificant speck of nothingness?"
You both preen at and shy away from his praise, his flirtatious comment, and Remus feels his heart thrashing against his ribs at the way you whine his name. He chuckles softly as crimson takes over your neck and cheeks, an obvious change from the wind bitten skin from before. He smiles cheekily, chasing the line of your sight, head dipping to meet it.
"I'm serious, you know." He tells you.
You look transfixed for a moment. Ethereal. Entirely too beautiful and enamoured with his words. He's about to kiss you when your own cheeky grin comes over your face, eyes bright as you turn to point at the sky, "No, silly," You chide jokingly, "That's Sirius."
And oh, for fucks sake, Remus is well and truly done for.

Why don’t you like tonks?
well first and foremost because she's just a badly written character. her motivations and actions make absolutely no sense with her backstory even in OotP. she's a half-blood, the product of a marriage that is a rebellion against dominant wizarding power structures, and she's inherently trans. and yet her job involves upholding the most toxic and problematic parts of wizarding institutions. there could be reasons why! maybe she wants to make change from within, maybe she's carrying a lot of internalised shame (and with the way Andromeda has berated her about her clumsiness, I can imagine it.) but we never get any explanation for the contradictions and it just does not work.
then all of that gets wiped anyway in HBP where her character literally becomes 'woman who pines after Remus'. it's boring, it's embarrassing, it's painful. she's literally a different person from OotP and so obviously a tool for jkr to push her comphet agenda onto Remus.
the character she is in HBP is also so problematic. she is guilt-tripping and manipulating someone into marrying her. that person is not only grief-stricken, but he's also poor, unemployed, disabled, and marginalised by wizarding society, which means Tonks holds a huge amount of social and economic power in comparison. and she's also literally an Auror!! there's honestly an argument there that Remus was intimidated by her or afraid for his safety. but even more so, it's just a brazen disregard of someone's agency and desires. if someone says they don't want to be with you that's just... it? you don't argue, you don't spend months trying to convince them otherwise, you don't rope other people into pressuring them to be with you.
I honestly think Tonks is a fun character when she's written as she should be - queer in every possible way, and not obsessed over Remus. I write her like that in most of my aus when she happens to feature there in the background. but I'm always going to be mad about what she represents and all the painful, fucked up echoes that has to real life comphet

remus lupin x gn!reader
cws: consensual age gap, reader was formally remus's student but nothing inappropriate happened during that time, smoking, swearing
Tumblr media
you took a long drag from your cigarette as you gazed into the black sky. leaning out of a cramped, 3rd floor corridor window was not the most glamorous way of smoking, but you were so desperate you didn't care.
as much as you valued being in the order of the phoenix, the current headquarters (the house formally owned by the blacks) was a fucking nightmare. it reeked of death and woodworms, and there were creatures of all shapes and sizes hiding in crevices and cupboards. it was only just liveable and you'd been stuck living here here for weeks, but at least you could leave when you wanted to, unlike poor sirius.
offering to stay and help clean up headquarters over the summer seemed simple enough at the time, but it was hard work. when the kids went back to school, you'd go proper househunting. you'd graduated from hogwarts only this year, and needed somewhere to crash, so in exchange for a free room and food on the table, you'd agreed to help make the black house fit for living.
mrs weasley did not approve of your smoking habits, hence the uncomfortable leaning out of the window. besides, it was too late (or rather, early in the morning) to go outside.
"care to spare one?"
you jumped, hitting your head on the window.
"ow! fuck!"
you pulled out, still holding a half-finished cigarette, panting. remus lupin stood in front of you, his face apologetic. he was wearing brown cords and a baggy, sage green button up that was half untucked, and mismatched socks.
"apologies, y/n. didn't mean to startle you."
"cough next time or something, merlin." you placed a hand on your heart dramatically and fumbled with your packet of fags. "we won't both fit out the window so we'll just have to sit and smoke vaguely in the vicinity."
remus laughed and took the cigarette, his fingertips brushing yours. he sat opposite you on the stairwell, lazily using his wand to light his cigarette.
"didn't take you for a smoker." you said, after exhaling deeply.
"yes, well. you're not exactly the smoker type either." he replied, taking a long drag with a grateful expression.
"excuse me, the last time you saw me i had shitty box-dyed hair and a nose stud. I'm definitely the smoker type." you said in mock defence, referencing the year that remus had taught your defence against the dark arts lessons.
he chuckled, nodding. "that's true. you did look very different back then."
"man, i miss your classes. they were so chill. sorry i was always a nightmare and never handed in homework."
"i had worse students." he smirked, and you smacked him playfully. you both laughed.
you hadn't felt this relaxed in a while. after everything that happened last year, you'd felt wild and panicked for almost every waking moment. you believed harry, of course you did, and being close with the weasley's meant you knew all about the order, and joined as soon as you left school. maybe it would've been better if you didn't believe harry. you wouldn't feel so...panicked all the time. but you did, so that was that.
"what are you doing up so early anyway?" you asked, checking your watch and feeling a pang of guilt at the little '4:07' staring up at you.
remus nodded at the window. you looked up and saw the almost full moon.
"i can never sleep in the days beforehand."
"oooh." you replied in understanding. "i'm....i'm sorry you had to leave hogwarts because of it. that fucking sucked."
"i'm used to it." he shrugged.
"anytime you need cigs, i'm your person. any time. for free. no charge. it's the least i can do, like honestly i wouldn't have passed DADA if it weren't for you."
"i'll hold you to that." he grinned.
he gazed out the window, his eyes glazed and unfocused. he looked exhausted, but he wore it well. you supposed that was because he was rarely anything but. he looked soft, blurry around the edges, like a mirage, or as if he were painted with watercolour.
"d'you wanna know something kinda funny."
don't say it.
"mm?"
don't say it.
"i kinda..."
you're going to embarrass yourself.
"i used to have the biggest crush on you when you were at hogwarts."
remus didn't say anything, but smiled humbly.
"i get that a lot, actually."
"really?"
"you sound surprised." he grinned.
"what? no- i just mean...who will i have to battle for your heart?"
he laughed, and you found your face was growing warm. you don't know why you'd told him, it was very spur of the moment, but you were glad you did. it was nice to see him properly laugh.
"things have changed so much." you muttered, getting to the end of your cig. "i changed so much. probably for the better."
"things have changed- are changing." he agreed. "but i do hope you didn't stop liking me."
you properly blushed this time. "you mean that?"
he gazed at you, and leant forward to stub out his cigarette on the windowsill. he didn't lean back. his eyes were on you, full of something you'd never seen before. not lust, more like-
but before you could think of what it was more like, he pressed his lips to yours gently. his facial hair was rough against your skin as he kissed you deeper, his hand cupping your cheek.
he pulled away, still holding your face.
"was that...okay?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at your flustered face.
"y-yeah....but....maybe we should go somewhere more private." you chuckled, gesturing to the fact you were both slumped on the stairwell floor.
"good idea, hun." he pecked your lips. he stood up and helped you to your feet.
"my room?" you asked, kissing his scarred cheek.
"desperate for more, hm?" he teased, wrapping an arm around your waist. he kissed you again softly.
"you know it, old man."

Dude, I read the one where you talked about pregnant reader and you said it'll be a cute fic.... are you really gonna write it!!? Poly moonwater with pregnant reader!?? Will you? Will you? Will you!!?? Please, will you!!!!!???
well.....since you asked so nicely........👀
poly!moonwater x afab fem!reader who finds out she's expecting
CW: mentions of pregnancy, how people get pregnant (nothing discussed in detail, SFW and minors), reader is concerned the boys will leave her, reader wishes to keep the pregnancy, based off a discussion on this post.
Now that you knew, you weren’t sure how you could honestly feel surprised. In fact, now you were kind of surprised that it hadn’t happened sooner.
For all the claims that wizardingkind makes to be ahead of the curve in comparison to muggles, they don’t exactly have the best contraceptives.
Potions are fine if you remember to take them, the same can be said about charms, and condoms are a foreign concept to the likes of wizarding society.
You’d been feeling so incredibly exhausted lately, and it had gotten to the point that you couldn’t make it through the day without having at least one nap. It was when you’d actually fallen asleep at the dinner table that Regulus started to fret, though Remus found it terribly funny at the time.
Then came the aches and pains that never seemed to dull no matter what you did. You’d tried potions, over the counter muggle medications, hot baths, cold showers, lying flat, sitting up – nothing stopped the aches that seemed intent on plaguing you. Remus had even given you full body massages that, whilst absolutely heavenly, did absolutely fuck all.
“Maybe you’re coming down with something?” He’d queried, holding the back of his hand to your head. “Reg? Can you bring me the thermometer?”
You swore you heard whatever Regulus had been fussing with in the kitchen fall unceremoniously onto the counter in his haste to come over to you.
“Why? Is she poorly?” He asked severely, placing the back of his hand against your head like Remus had, only far more aggressively and to the point that it actually made a slapping sound as it made contact.
“Och, babe! If she wasn’t poorly yet she’ll surely have a concussion now!” Remus chided, pushing Regulus’ hand away and cradling your head protectively to his chest.
Needless to say, the thermometer didn’t pick up a fever either.
So, when you woke up the next morning and spent most of the day hunched over the toilet bowl, Reg insisted you see a Healer.
Once the Healer started to ask the more...pointed questions, the pieces all started to click together in your mind.
Are you sexually active? Yes.
When was your last menstrual cycle? They weren’t exactly regular so... you supposed it had been late.
Any nausea? Yes.
Fatigue. Uh-huh.
Body or muscle pain? Fuckin’ hells.
So now you were standing outside of yours, Remus', and Regulus’ shared flat with a copy of your test results in your hand wondering what in the buggering fuck you were going to do now.
Both Regulus and Remus were pretty set on not wanting children of their own. They loved children, and they were both really good with children (in their own, very different ways); but with Regulus’ past, his family's reputation, and “the sodding inbreeding, amour; I’d be surprised if it didn’t come out with everything upside down and backwards”, he was sure that it’d be better for everyone if he stayed childless.
And Remus.
Poor, sweet Remus.
Too ashamed of his own affliction to a) pass it onto his own biological child or b) force any child to live with the knowledge that they had a ‘monster’ for a father.
And that was that.
Children just wasn’t in the cards for you three.
Yet here you were...
Suddenly, you weren’t just worried; you were terrified.
They didn’t want this, they never wanted this. They had always been clear about that. They could have been more careful to prevent this, but here you were.
Here you were.
There you stood; outside of your shared flat, unable to bring yourself to open the door.
They were going to leave you; they’d leave you, surely. Yeah?
They didn’t want this.
They wouldn’t want you.
Fuck.
“For the love of Circe, I’m jus- Salazar’s saggy balls, Y/N!” Regulus said as he stumbled in the doorway, startled after having been in the middle of shouting something over his shoulder only to nearly collide with you. “How long have you been standing out here?”
You stared dumbly at him; you weren’t ready to go inside. You weren’t ready to have this conversation.
Too bad.
“Not long?” You stated in the form of a question. He furrowed his brows and looked you up and down before offering you his hand up the two steps to your doorway.
“I was just opening the doors and windows; you’re lovely boyfriend tried to make us dinner.” He explained with a fond eyeroll, stepping into the flat and squinting through the smoke flooding the living space.
“Yeah, yeah. Last time I try something new in the kitchen.” Remus muttered as he threw away an entire baking dish.
“What was it supposed to be again, sweetheart?” Regulus asked with a mischievous smirk you knew he picked up from spending too much time with Remus, Sirius, and James.
“Just never you mind, you tosser. Hi dove.” He muttered to Regulus, though his tone changed dramatically once he turned to you, his eyes softening as he took in your form.
“How was your appointment?”
Your appointment? Your appointment. The appointment you just had. The appointment where you found out. The appointment where you were told you were pregnant. That appointment. The appointment you were still holding the slip for. The slip with your results. The slip with your pregnancy test results. The slip with your positive pregnancy test results.
That appointment.
“I-”
And you took off to the bathroom, slammed the door behind you and heaved into the toilet.
There was a gentle knock on the door as you sat back against the tub with your knees to your chest, trying to catch your breath. “Dove?”
Another knock.
“Okay, we’re coming in.” Came Regulus’ more authoritarian voice through the door before it slowly opened to allow both of them entrance.
Remus had to fold himself a number of times in order to sit on the bathroom floor beside you whilst Reg flushed the toilet (while you flushed in embarrassment) and closed the lid to sit on it, facing you and Remus.
“Did you get any answers from the healer?” Regulus asked quietly.
You smothered a humourless scoff and nodded your head in the affirmative.
The boys let you sit there with your head laid back onto the edge of the tub and your eyes closed before Regulus couldn’t seem to handle it anymore.
“And? Are you... okay?”
You took in a deep breath and pulled that paper - now crumpled within your fist - cast a gemino duplication spell on it and handed one to each boy.
You curled yourself inward and rested your forehead on your knees, reminding yourself to breathe even though you knew these two men now knew that you were expecting, that you were expecting their child.
It could have been moments, or it could have been hours; but it was Remus who broke the silence.
“Pregnant?” He whispered on an exhale.
You cautiously raised your head to look over at him by your side, noticing that his eyes were shining with unshed tears.
You brought him to tears.
He never wanted this.
He wouldn’t want you.
“You’re really pregnant?” He asked again.
You nodded and swallowed around your gag reflex; unsure whether the nausea was nerves or...pregnancy related.
“You’re...” Reg started, still looking down at the paper in his hands. “You’re... gonna have a baby?” He whispered in awe.
You felt your brows furrow when you heard an emotional chuckle from beside you.
You turned back to see Remus wiping tears away from his eyes as he looked back down at his own paper in front of him.
“We’re gonna have a baby?” Remus corrected, nudging Regulus’ calf with his foot.
“Wait, you... you guys aren’t upset?” You asked urgently. Both boys snapped to attention to look at you in various degrees of worry or horror.
“Upset!?” Remus gawked as Regulus started shaking his head emphatically.
“Why? Why would you be worried of such a thing?”
You shook your own head and looked down at your hands as you began picking at your nailbeds. “Neither of you were ever interested in having kids of your own.”
“Oh, dovey.” Remus cooed and quickly pulled you into his side. “When was the last time we talked about this, huh? When we first graduated Hogwarts? I think we could manage a kid now, yeah?”
“Or four.” Regulus added, causing you and Remus to straighten up significantly.
“Four!?” You and Remus chorused.
“Since when did you want kids?” You questioned incredulously.
“The moment I saw you hold Harry for the first time.” He answered without hesitation.
“Ha ha.” Remus taunted. “Mine was watching her shop for Lily’s baby shower.”
“What!?” You nearly screeched.
Regulus sighed before ultimately moving to sit on the floor on your other side; you knew this was very serious considering he was a notorious germ freak.
“I was always a little afraid of having kids of my own, you’re right. I mean, you’ve seen the way that Sirius and I turned out, yeah?”
You and Remus scoffed at that.
“I just hated the idea of ever being anything like my parents, because that’s all I know. Or I guess, that was all I knew. But... I think you guys have taught me an awful lot.”
You watched Regulus’ stormy grey eyes as they moved between you and Remus. “You’ve both taught me to slow down, to be more patient, to see the fun in the mess and the burnt food and the change of plans. You’ve taught me that I won’t perish if I sit on the bathroom floor for a minute. And, I think most importantly, you’ve taught me how to love. And when I see how happy Harry is, I realize that’s all a kid really needs, yeah? Love?”
“You... you really want a child? This child?” You asked in a whisper.
Regulus’s face turned heartbroken for a moment. “You’re child? Absolutely, amour. There was never any doubt.”
“I always thought I’d pass on only the worst parts of me to any child.” Remus added, turning your attention to him. “But I find I’m only ever my best self when I’m around the two of you. And any child that’s even a fraction of either of you, well, I’d be one... one lucky man to call them mine.” He whimpered the end of his sentence before breaking out into a sob.
“Oh, Rem.” You murmured empathetically, pulling his larger frame into your side. He chuckled through happy tears as he moved one of his hands tentatively to your abdomen.
“A baby...” Regulus breathed, looking back at the paper in his hands. “We’re really going to have a baby?”
You and Remus exchanged a shy glance, understanding seeming to pass between the two of you before you both turned back to Regulus.
“We’re going to have a baby.” You concurred.

Hi, i want to request a remus x reader, where its a girls night before lily's wedding and they play a spicy truth or dare, where reader realises she needs to ask remus out.
tradition.
FIRST REQUEST SORRY THIS TOOK TIME
1.7k
Bachelorette parties were a time honored tradition where the bride-to-be wore heels that were too tall to be worn drunk and got legendarily plastered with about seven of her worst behaved friends. Lily Evans (soon to be Potter) was almost an exception, but Dorcas bought her these platform go-go boots and it felt rude not to wear them.
Lily assumed the event would be less of a nightmare if [Y/N] planned it, as Dorcas usually took things too far. This way, Lily could almost guarantee that there would be no Chip and Dale-type striper dressed as the left-winger chaser from Puddlemere United. [Y/N] was therefore the most convenient choice for Maid of Honour.
Carefully, the bridal party made their way out of the Three Broomsticks and hauled themselves up the hill to do the rest of the night in Godric’s Hollow. All of them were too far gone to apparate. Sirius had taken James and the boys who knows where for a Bachelor party so the girls could use the house that night. The ‘girls’ consisted of Lily and [Y/N], Dorcas Meadowes, Mary Macdonald, Marlene McKinnon, and Alice Fortesque; basically the contents of their dormitory at school. The seven hung off each other and giggled as old friends as they walked.
“Never thought you’d be the first of us!” Marlene cried in glee, shaking her sharply bobbed dark hair out of her face. “I can’t get over it. Simply.”
“Oh, come off it!” Lily groaned. She was awfully tired of hearing this same banter recycled day in and day out.
Dorcas laughed. “Well, yeah. Marls is right. You hated your poor bastard Potter, for, like, forever. I thought first in and out of the binding contract of marriage was to be Alice and Frankie for sure.”
The most sober player of the evening, Alice, sighed. “Sorry that we’re patient.”
[Y/N] let out a firm laugh, pulling Lily’s set of keys out of her pocket as the house entered their line of view. “Bold assumptions from both Dorcas and Marlene considering you both told me you were gonna marry Sirius Black when you were fifteen or something.” [Y/N] said. Her comment illicited silence from Dorcas and Marlene rampant giggled from Mary, Lily and Alice.
With their Godric’s Hollow destination reached, [Y/N] unlocked the door with some difficulty. The seven flooded inside. Before Mary could loudly announce how bad she had to piss again, [Y/N] asked: “I’ve got a quick question ‘bout Black, actually,” everyone seemed very interested because everyone [Y/N] knew was in love with Sirius Black - unfortunately. “How many of you’v’fucked him? Just… Show off hands.”
Many groans of malcontent echoed through the room. Dorcas and Marlene raised their hands without hesitation, but instead with a bit of regret. Mary’s hand slowly went up with a sigh. Lily and Alice exchanged some knowing looks but both resisted a comment. “Bloody hell, ladies. Is he actually packin’ or something? He’s not that tall, so… Nice hair, but if he weren’t one of my mates, I’d just say he’s average. How does he keep pulling like this?” [Y/N] asked incredulously.
As Mary left finally to piss, Marlene bit back at [Y/N]. “Honestly, I think he’s just charming. Like, something about the smile, the leather jacket. Plus, he’s so fuckin’… noble, like. Yeah?”
“Noble? A guy’s a better fuck ‘cause he’s ‘noble?’” [Y/N] sighed.
“You know what I mean.” Marlene said and Dorcas nodded in agreement.
Dorcas piped up. “Well, [Y/N]. You may be the next among us. Ain’t the Maid of Honour and the… What’s it called? Man of Honour—“
“—Best Man.” Alice correct, pouring herself a sipper of firewhiskey.
“Ain’t the Maid of Honour and the Best Man meant to fuck? After the wedding?” Dorcas finished.
[Y/N]’s eyes widened. “No. Superstition. Clearly. I… Right, Lily?”
Lily’s playful grin widened as she pulled off her go-go boots and tossed her auburn hair into a messy bun. “Well, seeing as neither of you have a real date, then have at it. It’s tradition.”
“That’s vile. You’re vile.”
Mary walked back in from the bathroom. “Who’s vile?”
“Lily. Or Sirius. Can’t remember. Maybe both.” Marlene clarified.
“Ah, he is ‘packing,’ by the way. If nobody’s said that yet.”
[Y/N] was tired of everyone pushing her buttons because she had been single for a while. Single, yes. Desperate enough to shag Sirius Black, no. “Fabian Prewett was not worth all the trouble to keep that relationship going just to have a date to your wedding.” She said.
“He was so pretty!” Dorcas remarked, a drunken slur apparent in her voice.
“Yeah, and he was also a prick. Anyway, there’s no sense in finding someone with, like, days til the wedding.”
Lily sighed loudly. She knew what she was doing. It was that sort of sigh that baited someone to ask why one was sighing.
“What?” [Y/N] asked, scoffing.
“Nothing. It’s nothing.”
Strained silence as all the other girls leaned into listen. “Oh, I’m sure. What’s the problem here?”
“James said one of his boys also doesn’t have a date to the—“ Lily started.
“You already implied Sirius—“
“Remus. Rem doesn’t have anyone.”
A longer, more strained silence.
Marlene gasped. “Holy fuckin’ shit. You should finally ask Remus out.”
“Finally? What do you mean finally? He’s my best mate.” [Y/N] said incredulously.
The other girls shared groans of indignation or shouts of surprise. “Dear, every boy you’ve ever been out with looks like a cheap knock-off of Loony Loopy Lupin. You have to have noticed.” Marlene pointed out.
“Don’t call him that!” Lily butted in.
“Don’t call him that. He doesn’t like it. And simply, I don’t think that’s true. About the boy thing.” [Y/N] insisted.
“Amos Diggory.” Mary said clearly. Amos had been her very first boyfriend. [Y/N] finally said yes to his obvious advances after Remus took a Slytherin girl his friends all hated to Hogsmeade. Amos had then been the same height and build as Remus, with those aggressively kind eyes. However, he was nothing like Lupin in any other way.
“They’re both tall with brown hair. So’s James for that matter—“
“Amos is just the polite version of Lupin. They’re practically the same bloke.” Mary finished he brutal comment and strolled into the kitchen.
“Tony Dolohov—“ Lily pointed out. Antonin Dolohov had been a rebound repeated hookup after Amos had broken up with [Y/N] since he thought she was too ‘disinterested’ in him. It was familiar commentary that Remus and Dolohov looked similar. They were constantly mistaken for the other from the back in school, despite being completely different as people.
“Was a fling!”
“Evil Lupin…” Dorcas sighed.
[Y/N] was ready for another topic of conversation. “So what? I like tall brunette guys from the countryside. Sue me. Fabian Prewett was from out there too, but he was completely—“
“Mm… Yes. Redheaded, pretentious Lupin.” Dorcas grinned tempestuously.
Mary gasped. “That implies our Lupin isn’t pretentious!”
Alice cleared her throat amidst [Y/N] evident shame and irritation. “If you don’t mind my saying, [Y/N], you’ve been down for that boy since you were about fourteen. Lupin, I mean.”
[Y/N] watched Lily nod drunkenly at wise old Alice’s words. “Call him! Call him right now!”
“Fuck you! No!”
Before [Y/N] could do anything else, Marlene began leading a chant of “call him!” with others shouting such fare as “come on, don’t ruin Lily’s party!” That was when she had to pick up the phone, just to get it to stop.
She stood there, listening to the dial tone hum. “Shit. What number am I ringing? He’s not… He’s with James.”
Lily whipped out her wand from her back pocket and wordlessly summoned a number jotted down on a takeaway menu from who knows where in the kitchen. Lily dictated the number to [Y/N], just to make sure she would actually make the call.
“‘Llo?” Sirius Black slurred on the other line. [Y/N] had often heard him wasted, but he was gone-gone tonight. He spoke too loudly into the receiver. After multiple semesters of Muggle Studies, he still hasn’t mastered the telephone.
“Black, it’s [Y/N].”
“Hey there, love,” Sirius suddenly sounded on edge. The world was a scary place these days and such a call was scary to get this late during a bachelor party. [Y/N] thought he sounded more sober, or tried, after she announced herself. “‘S everything okay…?”
“Hm? Yeah, no. All’ve us are fine. Is Lupin there?”
“What you want with Lupin?” Sirius inquired, his tone sounding much more typical of a drunk Sirius Black.
[Y/N] looked over her shoulder at the expectant faces of the girls and an encouraging thumbs up from Alice. “Uh, drinking game, or something. Put him on. Please.”
Sirius sounded like he dropped the receiver away from his face and called something like “Oi Moony, there’s a foxy bird on the phone for you!” into the room near him. After some shuffling and unintelligible grumbling, Remus’s voice came through on the phone.
“Remus Lupin on,” he said too clearly. The kind of clearness of tone one had when stoned out of their mind and attempting to cover it up. But at least he knew how to use a phone. “Who’s speaking?”
“Lupin, it’s me. It’s [Y/N]. Everything’s fine.”
“Oh. Hi?”
“Yeah, hi. All the boy’s watching you right now?”
“Uh,” a pause. “No, yeah. All of ‘em.”
“Same here. Holding a wand to my chest, basically. You still don’t have a date to the wedding, right?”
A longer pause. “Hm? To the wedding, you said?” He swallowed. Dry mouth from nerves or smoking too much, maybe. “No.”
“Right. Nor have I. Wanna go with me? Since we already both, like, have to go? Figured it’d be fun to go with you,” [Y/N] dropped her voice to a whisper. “Like, go-with-me-go-with-me. Real deal date.”
Too long of a pause.
“Remus? You there?”
“Yeah. Yeah! Sure, I’m here, sure. Also, like, yeah, sure. I mean, yeah. I’ll go with you. If you want, I mean. Yeah.”
[Y/N] sighed in relief. “Brilliant. Pop by before and get me. We’ll go together. Ta.”
With that, she hung up.
“Ta?” Dorcas said dramatically. “Ta? You ask the man out and you close with fuckin’ ‘ta?’”

poly!marauders meets apocalypse? maybe some kind of trope where they got separated from the reader at the beginning of it all and while they knew all the spots they were likely to meet up at they just kept missing each other, times being off and such! + like after some time them finally find their way back together
Thanks for requesting my love! Idk how the first war went (fake fan!) but I imagine this “apocalypse” as during that time, something like the wizarding world in the Deathly Hallows after the death eaters take the ministry? I hope this is alright <3
apocalypse poly!marauders x fem!reader ♡ 1.5k words
It’s getting dark, and you know that you can’t sleep here but you probably will anyway.
The cave isn’t a very comfortable place to spend the night, nor does it allow much room for hiding. If some troop of death eaters manages to track you here, you’ll be cornered, but you’ve long since gotten over the fear of being found. That panic lives in your bones now. It’s like your heartbeat, so inseparable from you that you don’t even notice it most the time.
And honestly, if they want to find you here, let them. You’ve got nowhere else to go.
This is the last place you could think of that the boys might come looking for you, the last place that hasn’t been found and desecrated and reduced to searing rubble. James told you once that they used to slip away during trips to Hogsmeade and explore these caves when they were younger. There are dozens of them, but he talked about one, the biggest, at the top of the hill, that they’d made their favorite hideout. You hope he remembers telling you as clearly as you remember hearing it. If they don’t find you here, you’ll have to face the question of whether you know your boyfriends as well as you think you do. Or whether you still have boyfriends to know.
The view from their cave would normally be spectacular, Hogsmeade all lit up and surrounded by woodlands, but knowing that only makes what you’re actually looking down at seem worse. The usually quaint and lively town is abandoned. You can’t detect any movements in the streets and not a single lamppost is lit. What had been such a beacon of joy and fun during your time at Hogwarts, a place tied to some of your best memories—saving money when you were little for sweets at Honeydukes, getting butterbeer with your friends at the Three Broomsticks, watching performers in the square—has been reduced to this ghost town, dark and lonely and vacant but for the poor souls too frightened to leave their homes.
Even as bleak as the town appears, your stomach grumbles looking down at it. Luckily, you’ve been able to utilize your skill with the obliviate charm to steal from muggle corner stores without anyone noticing, but though you leave the memories of the clerks largely intact, you still feel awful about it. No matter what food you smuggle away, guilt turns it bland and unappetizing in your mouth, and you haven’t tried to find a meal in a couple of days. Remus is good with illusions, if he were with you he could make money out of leaves and walk out of restaurants without having to tamper with the muggles themselves. Or if James still has the invisibility cloak, you could be using it to get all kinds of things without raising any suspicion.
An owl hoots in the trees below you, and your head snaps up out of some hopeful instinct. But no, no one is sending you letters here. You’re not even sure if owls are allowed anymore, or if there’s anyone left who would write to you. You wish desperately that Remus was here to tell you you’re being silly, that Voldemort’s followers couldn’t possibly have squashed every ounce of rebellion in just a couple weeks, or Sirius to make fun of the robes the death eaters wear like third years in their rebellious goth phase, or James to hug you and promise, however emptily, that it’ll all be alright in the end.
But as much as you miss the boys, you’re glad they have each other. At least, last you saw them they did.
There’s a shuffling of rocks outside, and you flinch away from the mouth of the cave. It could be an animal, or the wind, but you can’t chance it. You move as quietly as you can to the darkness in the back, pressing yourself against a wall and doing your best to sink into the shadows as you slip your wand free of your shirtsleeve. You’ve got an expelliarmus on your tongue, hoping desperately that will be enough and too cautious to hope for anything more, when the first dark figure climbs into the entrance of the cave.
“Merlin,” a male voice says, shrugging a pack off onto the floor, “it used to feel a bit bigger, don’t you think?”
A choked sob gives away your location, but it hardly matters, because in the next instant you’re racing towards the figure, shoes slipping clumsily on the damp ground. He curses, scrambling for his wand, but then you’re on him, and it’s all he can do to stay upright as your arms go around his neck.
He recognizes you then, gasping your name just as the other two boys make their way up to the landing. They’re mere silhouettes against the twilight outside, but even through your tear-blurred vision you’d know them anywhere. You make a high-pitched keening sound, and Sirius and Remus both rush to you, smushing you and James between them.
You can’t stop crying, splintered, gasping sobs like a child that doesn’t know how to live in the world on its own. You know James is weeping too from the wetness seeping into the collar of your shirt, and you think it’s Sirius’ hand that’s fisted in the back of your coat, but it really doesn’t matter. They’re here. They’re all here.
“I didn’t think you’d come here,” Remus says, voice ragged.
You laugh, and it’s a rough, awful sound, rusty from weeks of disuse. “I wasn’t sure you would either.”
“Fuck, baby.” Sirius adjusts his grip on you, trying to pull you closer though you’re already pressed against him. “Where have you been? We’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
You take a breath, steadying yourself as you step back where you can see them. They all look a little worse for wear, but that’s expected. James is rubbing underneath his glasses, teartracks cutting through what looks like soot on his face. Sirius too is dirtier than he ever would’ve allowed just a couple weeks ago, but he doesn’t seem like he’s lost any weight. And the scars you can see Remus, you conclude after some inspection, are the same ones you’ve been getting to know for years. They all seem okay. However they did it, they’ve managed to stay safe.
“I’ve been everywhere,” you say finally. “I went to the shack first, but there were death eaters there.”
James brow furrows, and he sniffles. “There weren’t any around when we went. When did you check there?”
“The day after it happened.”
“We were there just that morning.”
You sit down on the cold earth, careless of the dampness seeping into your pants. “I wanted to go sooner, but I couldn’t get away from my neighborhood. They were everywhere.”
Sirius takes a blanket out of the pack James had discarded, laying it out on the floor of the cave and motioning for you to come sit beside him on it.
“Did you try Godric’s Hallow?” Remus asks, spreading another blanket for himself and James across from you. “We hung around there for days.”
“Yeah,” you say. Remus sets a hand on your knee as he sits in front of you, James seating himself across from Sirius. “I went there straight after the shack, didn’t leave until the next night.”
“You’re joking.” Sirius looks at you, devastation written across his features. “We got there three days after we got separated from you. We had to have been there at the same time.”
You let out a short, stilted laugh, laying your head on Sirius’ shoulder as a fresh wave of tears obscures your vision. “We must’ve just missed each other.” Sirius wraps an arm around your shoulder, resting his head atop yours. “Wonder how many times that happened,” you say bitterly.
“It doesn’t matter now.” Remus' tone is firm, but his knee bumps into yours consolingly. “We’re together, and…and we’re not going to get separated again. I won’t let it happen.”
“But I think we should pick a more definitive meeting spot,” Sirius says with forced lightness. “Just to be sure, you know?”
James actually laughs, and the familiar sound lifts the mood in the cave slightly.
“Probably,” you agree. “Hey, you guys don't have any food on hand, do you?”
“Merlin, is that rumbling your stomach?” Sirius asks. “I was thinking the roof of this place was about to come down.” He nudges you playfully, and you lean more of your weight onto him in response. He’s laying it on a bit thick in an attempt to try and brighten the atmosphere in your little cave, but you love him for it.
“We’ve got food,” James says, already digging through the pack. “Sandwich okay?”
As ridiculous as it would’ve sounded to you a month ago, the idea of a full sandwich, with bread and everything, makes your mouth water. “More than okay.” You take it from him, all but moaning as you chew your first bite. “Fuck, this is so luxurious.”
“If you think that’s luxurious,” James says enticingly, “wait until you see the grade-a sleeping pads we picked up. It’s a good thing we found you before you had to sleep in here, angel, because this is about to be a major improvement.”
You roll your eyes, but you can’t help the smile that spreads across your face. This is already a major improvement.
