In life, we often place our trust in the people we've known for years, those with whom we've shared countless experiences. The bonds formed in our youth, especially within the church community, can seem unbreakable. But as I learned one unforgettable night in San Francisco, even the strongest bonds can be tested.

As I sat down to dinner with a young man, a fellow churchgoer and the son of a pastor, I felt a deep sense of trust. We had grown up together, and attended countless Sunday services side by side. That evening, when he invited me to his apartment I saw nothing wrong with it because, we are in church together. Without a second thought, I trusted him, believing that our shared faith and history were unassailable.

But what unfolded that night remains a mystery to this day. I found myself in a situation I couldn't comprehend. I was in his bed, naked.

I leaped from the bed. I couldn't fathom how I had ended up in this situation. All I knew was that I needed to escape. Gathering what little composure I had left and ran out of the apartment onto the streets of San Francisco half-dressed and overwhelmed. It was a surreal moment, one I never imagined I would experience. But fate had another twist in store for me.

A kind-hearted policeman found me in my disarray. He offered help, concern etched on his face as he asked if I needed assistance. In that vulnerable moment, all I could manage to say was, "I need to call my brother. I need to call my brother."

This is a story of trust, betrayal, and the indomitable human spirit. It's a reminder that life can throw unexpected challenges our way, testing our resilience and resolve. I decided to write about this because I never knew that I’d have proof that this thought really existed.

A few days ago when I chose to change my profile picture in Facebook, an old friend messaged me. He asked how I was. I am not a snob like how people really tend to judge me with most of the time. If we didn’t have anything rough in between then I guess there is no reason for me not to respond. The last time that I talked to this person was 8 years ago. It was just a hi/hello kind of thing. The conversations weren’t constant and it did diminish. I did not feel anything when it ended since I know that it wasn’t really anything.

After a little exchange on how our life already was, he sent me a message that I didn’t really expected. He suddenly apologized for disappearing. That he just stopped talking to me. He said that he hopes that I understood why. It was mainly because our lives weren’t on the same level. Because our family is well known and as such. I replied to him with a joke but with all honesty, it is when I felt a bit of a pinch in my heart. Not because things didn’t push through since it wasn’t really anything for the both of us. But because life is really unfair for me in this case.

I know that life doesn’t have to revolve with money and whatsoever that is connected with it, but yes it is a necessity to live. Without it we cannot survive. But will I really be deprived with all the other things that life can offer me to be happy just because most of the people think that I am well-off. I don’t really know how to make them believe or how I can explain myself to them that we are not what and who they think we are. Yes, we might not be just an average kind of family because we have more than one house, we have our own business, we have cars, we are able to travel to different places, and we get to eat where we want to anytime. But will this be the only angle to look on to? Will all these be way heavier in order for me not to have or experience real life? To experience love because it just happened? Because it was felt by someone who might not have the same privilege that I have? This is not fair. I am thankful for this kind of life but I never wanted to be looked up to this way.

I am a person who is happy eating dirty ice cream, fishballs, pares, siomai rice, to be given a hand written letter and so much more that a normal person would want and be happy with. I cherish memories, moments, a lot more than material things. My parent’s earnings are not mine. It is something that they should enjoy because they worked hard for all of those. I have always planted in mind that I have to work for my own future. I have to use my own abilities to live and earn for my own family someday. I want people to look at me as me, a normal person who has the same internal organs as them, who breathes the same air as them, who sees the world the same as how they see it, a person who experience heartaches like others and someone who would also wish to be treated fair. Because love and happiness can never be bought nor can ever be experienced just because of material things. I pray and hope to be treated the same by someone someday without any hesitations or fear. My heart beats the same as yours therefore, I hope to meet you one day.

The never ending question of tell me something about yourself. There is no right or wrong answer, but you have to prepare for it. Even the people asking you, have trouble answering it. So let’s take a look at how life plays with us.

Job Interview: You know they’re not looking for fun facts about yourself, but you hope you’re saying the right things. Therefore you have to start with your best achievement from a recent role, and what you can do for them at their company. But what do they want?

“I began my career in retail management, but a few years ago, I was drawn to the Human Resources, people management. I’ve always been skilled at bringing people together and working towards common goals. My experience successfully leading and managing teams led me to consider HR, and I’ve been building a career in Business management for the last four years.”

Date: You meet someone who catches your eyes and start a conversation. Conversation between the two of you seems to be going well enough, then you hear “Tell me about yourself.” You have to be careful, because you don’t want to sound like you are bragging. So go ahead and tell them what your hobbies are and what you do on your spare time.

The somewhat truth: Oh the personal shit we all go through with life. What you are currently struggling with, and how you are progressing in life. More than half of the world is struggling in some ways. So how honest can you actually be without petrifying others, even though they have problems also. Nobody wants to talk about their life struggles.

There are a million answers, because it’s a questions that leaves us bamboozled. Before you answer, you have to ask yourself, “How do I want to be expose myself to the outside world”?

Enchanting Life?

If you have an enchanted nature inside you tend to see enchantment outside. The gross souls than may ridicule you, or even scold at you, calling you a naif dreamer, saying you are not living in "reality". But reality can have infinite aspects and manifestations. If your nature is gross and rough you will have the very same response from reality. If you have a lighter nature you will get instead a softer and gracious response.

Now I know for sure: reality is an echo. It responds to the nature of your inside attitude.

In my personal experience I have suffered all my life of the interferences of my family, calling me naif, or Alice in wonderland… But honestly, as long as I managed to live far away from them and I could express my nature, reality was joyful and even enchanted, or “magic” in its manifestations towards me. In spite of all the dramas I had to go through, my inner life was shining like an intense little crystal. But when I tried to come to terms with my family and adopt their gross and "responsible" (!) attitude, life became a real hell!

What I have learned so far:

1. Never think that someone is right, when you perceive them as brutal and rough and abusive. They are wrong and you are right.

2. Never change to adapt to them. First you won't manage, simply because your soul is not a thick, obtuse and toxic one. Second because whatever you do will never ever satisfy them.

3. As soon as you can: leave them behind and go your way. Not because they are family you are obliged to get along and remain with them.

Something that from position of the Experience put me in Very Deep Thoughts 💭… Indeed… I just unconsciously came back to the past when I had nothing and even a penny to buy a food on the table, (figuratively speaking… the total cash was $ 1,75 and I saved the money to buy my bus fair to go the nearest agency for job. Back then I didn’t have work permit also). Second moment was when I had everything - my attitude (it was to forever remember the challenging time and this experience to be my teacher in the life.
