What exactly causes a woman to become a TERF?

Most TERFs these days are pretty far from anything even remotely feminist, it's just a co-opted label at this point, with far right conservatives, anti-abortion activists and literal Nazis using the excuse of "protecting women" to direct hate towards trans people.

Apart from those, though, a lot of "old guard" TERFs simply come from a wing of feminism that had/has an... often rather negative (to put it mildly) view of men. This negativity isn't entirely unjustified, of course, but there are some feminists who are just as sexist and terrible towards men, as a lot of men are towards women. And those people tend to view trans women as "men invading women's spaces" and trans men as "traitors to their gender". Because they (the TERFs, that is) are, frankly, rather bigoted.

TERFs are not feminist, they are fascists. Transgender Exclusionary Radical Fascist.

Ya know what, shoutout to bisexual sapphics that use she/they who were raised as women. This specific demographic of people gets picked on so much within queer spaces, because they’re seen skirting around the edges of both kinds of queerness.

Bi sapphics are seen as toeing the line of heterosexuality, and genderqueer people raised as women who use she/they are seen as toeing the line of of being cisgendered / gender-conforming.

But ya know, these types of people have such interesting experiences. All about exploring and labeling the gray areas of sexuality and gender, about seeing one’s identity as a whole instead of a fraction, and learning to cope with imposter syndrome. About invisibility, about hostility from both sides of the fence. They have so many interesting things to say, and lessons to learn from their life experiences, if folks would take a moment to listen.

So, yeah. She/they bi sapphics, you keep being you. You’re an invaluable part of the queer community, and I appreciate you.
