none of this super awesome epic story will make sense without PART 1 !!! explains how liu kang became spiderman

when liu leaves for america, lao is hurt. he knows, logically, that raiden is the one to blame, but liu didn't even fight to stay or take lao with him.

and then deadpool comes along.

the vigilante slash mercenary is just stopping by, purely coincidence. decided he wanted to see the place. kung lao, of course, was naturally curious, and approched to say hello. to his surprise, deadpool is fluent in mandarin, and they strike up a lengthy conversation about their different lives. at one point, deadpool mentions "his spider-monk back home". kung lao naturally asks about it.

deadpool pulls out his phone, and pulls up a selfie of him and spidey- spidey's mask is half- up his face, and he's in the middle of trying to eat a taquito. deadpool is going on about the selfie, but.. kung lao is focused on the face. the lips of this 'spidey'. they have the exact two matching scars that liu's lips have, from when they were 8 and had the brilliant idea to get into body modification. it's the same mouth kung lao has seen scarfing down soup after training that reaches for a bit of taquito in the picture.

deadpool realises after a few seconds of silence that kung lao is in shock. and then that kung lao is crying. oh, shit.

kung lao spills immediately. he's ranting. he's raving.

HOW could liu do this?? first, leave without a hint of remorse to america of all places, second, start taking up dangerous hobbies, and third, NEVER FUCKING TELL HIM????? what was he thinking!? the idiot will get himself killed doing stupid shit without kung lao there.

deadpool offers the condolence that "he's definitely guilty about it, and i know he misses you. assuming, here, that you're the 'other half' he's always waxing poetic about."

and then, because he's an agent of chaos, deadpool offers payback: a secret to keep from liu. that way they're even. deadpool can offer training. (aka, wade really likes this kid and wants an excuse to hang about)

lao accepts immediately.

it's the next month that sees good news finally arrive-- in the best decision he's made since the 18th century, raiden is sending kung lao overseas to be with liu kang.

kung lao moves in on liu's last day of school.

raiden never told liu that lao was coming. liu kang comes home to find lao standing in the flat, like an idiot, staring at the doorway.

hugs. embraces.

then kung lao gives liu the tongue-lashing of the century. liu, fully aware at this point he's been a dick, takes it. then they hug again.

they spend the entire summer break together causing chaos in NYC, finally back together again, the dynamic duo.

and then liu discovers kung lao's secret-

not only has kung lao been training with deadpool, he's started his own stint as a vigilante.

needless to say, the fight that ensues is a whirlwind of huge, horrible emotions, name-calling, blame-throwing, and hurtful words.

they've made up by the end of the night anyway, because they both get miserably sad when they're mad at each other. unfortunately, their solution to the newfound power imbalance they've correctly identified as the unfair factor is possibly the dumbest plan any teenage vigilante has EVER thought of.

they're going to infiltrate oscorp, steal one of those fancy spiders that bit liu, have it bite lao so he has powers too, and then be on their merry way.

and they do it. and it fucking works. by some miracle, it works. peter and ned, now in on the secret, are their guys in the chair. mj is their strategist. they infiltrate, they steal, they escape, and oscorp are none the wiser. and even more miraculous, the spider doesn't kill kung lao.

kung lao develops powers, though they're slightly different from liu's-- he can't stick to things, and he isn't quite as strong. however, his regeneration is more comparable to deadpool's than to liu's, and he's got bones of steel-- he's practically impossible to hurt now. fitting.

and so he takes his RIGHTFUL place at liu's side as an equal vigilante, and after they're out of their month-long grounding for pulling that stunt without telling matt anything, they're a veritable vigilante family. matt is trying to obtain legal guardianship over them, and they're fine with that.

(lao, as a vigilante, calls himself styx. he's visually not a successor to deadpool, but when you see him on the field, deadpool's humor and violent tendencies have very much rubbed off on him.)

It’s confirmed that Matthew Macfadyen plays a TVA agent called Mr Paradox in Deadpool 3. In the comics Mr Paradox is a Mobius alias. Ok there’s no way that Mr Paradox is going to be a variant of Mobius that wouldn’t make sense, but the fact that he is similar age to Owen Wilson, and the only confirmed TVA agent in Deadpool 3 he could definitely be Mobius adjacent, a Mobius stand in if you will, he could literally be a Mobius stand in considering that it’s rumoured that they considered Mobius for the movie but it was deemed to soon after the ending of Loki or something, a reference to Mobius isn’t exactly unlikely though, considering he is basically one of the founders of the ‘New TVA’. Seen as we don’t see Mr Paradox in Loki but he seems to have quite an important role at the TVA in Deadpool 3, maybe he has recently got promoted because of Mobius’s retirement/sabbatical, and therefore is a literal replacement for Mobius.

Why am I so obsessed with Mr Paradox being a replacement to Mobius/ Mobius adjacent, I hear you ask? Well all TVA members are now allowed access to information about their lives on the timeline, so what if Wade or someone asks Mr Paradox what he used to do before he was ‘middle management of timelines’ and what if…. No but what if… he says he was a postman… and that he remembers knowing a ‘otherworldly woman’ but he doesn’t know who she was.

This would be soft confirmation that he was the postman that was Sylvie’s lover (because it was weird that they were never bought up again, and I want to know who it is)

Therefore Sylvie being a Loki variant and Mr Paradox being Mobius adjacent (not only would they have the same job at the TVA but they’d also have in common having the most just some guy job before the TVA) would be a subtle hint to MCU fans that Lokius is real and prepare them for Loki and Mobius becoming canon in Avengers: Secret Wars and-

So I've been cooking a little AU

Spidergirl Tina/Spiderboy Roier (sort of partners in crimes. They are 'superheros' but sort of in a anti-hero way like deadpool, kind of)

Bagi and Cellbit are twins who are Secret Services agents, hired to gather information and arrest the spiders.

Been thinking of a dynamic where Bagi rizzes up Tina for information but ends up falling in love very hard.

I think Cellbit arrests Roier regularly Roier always escapes, break into his appartment and leaves gifts.

I don't know if I want a dynamic where Bagi meets Tina as a citizen and likes both her and her superhero persona, miraculous style.

I don't actually like Guapoduo that much so this is more of a teaduo AU

From the fic title game, I gotta know what's going on with the one named "Atlanta." Who's going to Atlanta??

Haha nobody's going to Atlanta (well, except for the Corinthian in the Cereal Convention, but that's not what we're talking about here), it's actually a character named Atlanta!

That one is my yet-to-be-written fic in the Deadpool universe! I have no idea how much detail you actually want on this one, and I'm struggling to summarize it well, but... I'll do my best.

It starts out a few years before the events of the movie, a bit of a prequel slash angsty corruption arc (you'll see). The main character, Atlanta Santiago, is a historian who specializes in Greco-Roman myth systems. Her favorite myth is, of course, the myth of Atalanta, and she frequently jokes about missing an A (and yes, there will be a running bit of symbolism with the myth of Atalanta too, I can't help myself). She's also a part-time boxer with ties to a few other New York vigilantes, if you know what I mean...

She's in a bar when she encounters Francis Freeman - before he works in the mutant warehouse, before he's a mutate at all, he's just a charming phlebotomist living in NYC. They hit it off and end up dating for a few years, he's a gentle and caring partner, things are lovely, life is good.

And then he starts to go downhill: confusion, memory issues, a developing tremor in his hands. It turns out to be early-onset Huntington's disease, and a severe case at that. There's no known cure, he'll just keep deteriorating until he's gone. He has to quit his job, since his hands shake too much to insert an IV and he can't reliably make the calculations anyway. For a few months, things are rough.

Agent Smith appears in his apartment one day while Atlanta's out, and offers him the same chance at recovery he'll later give Wade: a treatment at the mutant warehouse, it'll save his life.. At first Francis refuses, but finally agrees to go to the warehouse. He leaves Atlanta a note, promising he'll return when things are better... but he never does. She, along with everyone else, assume he's just left to go discreetly end his life, and he left the note so she wouldn't have to discover it.

Fast forward two years. The warehouse needs more victims, and they end up kidnapping Atlanta for a treatment of her own. She runs into Francis... nothing like the man she used to know, now he's cruel and uncaring, doing exactly the sort of thing he abhorred in his prior life. He tries to sort things out and smooth things over, and explains that he couldn't let her know he was still alive because he didn't want the higher-ups at the warehouse to use her as leverage (because how else do you threaten a man who can't feel pain?). Atlanta is, justifiably, shocked and upset, torn between being grateful that he's still alive and being disgusted at the person he's become.

There's more to this, of course, but I don't want to give up all my secrets ;)

Super Dragon Ball Heroes 7-12

These two might be my favorite characters in this whole thing.

This is the “Universal Conflict” arc of SDBH, although as far as I’m concerned, this is just a continuation of the Prison Planet arc we were in before. I mean, the Prison Planet exploded, but Fu and Cumber are still in play, and nothing really got settled, so this just proves that calling it “The Prison Planet Arc” was a bad idea.

At the end of Episode 6, Universe 6 was under attack, so Vegeta and Future Trunks headed there to assist. Episode 7 opens with Hit, Caulifla and Kale fighting aliens on some unidentified planet. Cabba’s also involved, but he’s been taken out of the fight, I guess.

These two bad guys are basically eating Universe 6′s lunch. I mean, Hit’s a pretty big deal, and they’re taking turns fighting him for their own amusement.

Here’s Kale doing the Tails-gets-trolled face.

Then Vegeta and Trunks arrive, and this is presented like some game-changing moment, even though Hit has defeated Vegeta in his Super Saiyan Blue form before. So I’m not sure why Vanilla Super Saiyan Vegeta and Trunks is supposed to matter.

From his secret base, the bad guys’ leader watches this development and seems to approve. Also Zamasu is with him, and apparently taking orders from the guy. The boss says that he has to wait to resume his Zero Mortals Plan until after Grand Zeno has been defeated. Okay...

Back at the fight, the two aliens suddenly turn into clouds of sparkles and enter the bodies of Caulifla and Kale, possessing them. That’s right, these two are Tuffle Machine Mutants like Baby from Dragon Ball GT. Of course, no one in this show is aware of the events of Dragon Ball GT, so the two Tuffles, Kamin (the girl) and Oren (the boy) have to explain what they are.

For some reason, I thought these two were from Universe 6, which may be true, but this episode doesn’t confirm it. I mean, we’re in U6 right now, but that doesn’t mean these two couldn’t have come from one of the others. Anyway, I know they’re not from U7, since those Tuffles were wiped out by the Saiyans. Wherever Kamin and Oren are from, they were created by Tuffle technology to be the perfect weapons, but then the Tuffles began to fear them, and tried to destroy them. I’m pretty sure Kamin and Oren then wiped out the Tuffles in turn, so we can think of them as something like a Tuffle version of 17 and 18.

Anyway, I like these two because they take the stuff that made Baby interesting and carry it forward, without a lot of the dumb stuff that GT saddled Baby with. And these two characters actually get a minute to tell their origin and share their motivation, which is more than most characters get in SDBH.

So now Vegeta and Co. have to free the gals, which turns out to be pretty quick and clever. Trunks and Hit attack them and get them in holds, and then Vegeta launches a Final Flash at them. Kamin and Oren panic and abandon their hosts, and I guess Vegeta’s shot misses? Or Trunks and Hit dodge in time? It’s not really clear.

Then the gang’s leader shows up and uses a gravity technique to force all the good guys to the ground. He introduces himself as Hearts, and says he’ll defeat Grand Zeno, and eliminate all the other deities as well.

Let’s just get this out of the way, Hearts is voiced by Takehito Koyasu, who plays Dio in the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure anime. It’s good casting, but it’s also just Koyasu doing his Dio voice on a different character, which is pretty distracting if you’ve watched JJBA like I have. Also, his goggles and the lines on his face keep reminding me of Agent X, Marvel Comics’ short-lived Deadpool spin-off character.

Hearts threatens to use the defeated heroes’ energy to fuel the “Universe Seed” which is the thing he plans to use to defeat the gods, but then Kamin and Oren protest, saying they want to toy with these guys some more. Hearts agrees to let them have their way, which seems kind of stupid. I mean, does he want to charge up this Universe Seed or not?

Hearts asks Zamasu to come with them as they withdraw to some other Universe to absorb their energy for a while, and Zamasu gets all indignant about a mortal giving him orders. Okay, but how did these guys get together in the first place? That’s what I want to know.

Hearts reads Hit’s mind and discovers that Hit considers Jiren of Universe 11 to be the strongest mortal, so they go to U11 to check him out. And this leads to Cumber vs. Jiren, because Cumber is part of Hearts’ team too, remember? Goku defeated Cumber on the Prison Planet, and then Hearts’ team showed up and took Cumber before it exploded. Say, whatever happened to Goku, anyway?

For some reason, he’s at Grand Zeno’s palace, and the Grand Minister is... doing something with him. My guess is that he trained Goku to fight Hearts, because he went to the trouble of dressing Goku up in the same clothes he wears, but this is never actually stated.

Meanwhile, Vegeta and Trunks follow the bad guys to Universe 11 (how?), and Vegeta gets possessed by Kamin. This time, Kamin transforms Vegeta’s body more than he did Caulifla’s. I get that this is their special power, but to have them use it again so soon after the last time is kind of weak.

So while Trunks has to fight his possessed dad, Jiren and Cumber have a hoss battle. Big meaty men slappin’ meat!

Then Hearts tells Cumber to go to Universe 3 for some reason. Cumber doesn’t like that but he still plays along. So was he on Hearts’ team before Fu captured him, or did Hearts convince him to join the team after he rescued him?

So this leads to Zamasu fighting Jiren which is... pretty fun actually. Jiren just clobbers the shit out of the guy, but none of it works because Zamasu is indestructible.

And Kamin Vegeta beats up Trunks, who is basically useless in this show. Then, suddenly, the Grand Minister brings Goku to the battlefield.

This is so fucking stupid. The Grand Minister actually pulls off that Dorito uniform really well. He just makes it work, I don’t know how. But when you have a guy standing next to him in the exact same outfit, they both look like idiots. Fortunately, the Grand Minister leaves right away, allowing Goku to handle things as he sees fit.

So Goku goes Ultra Instinct and cleans house, and he hits Kami Vegeta so hard that Kami gets knocked clean out of Vegeta’s body. Cool!

Kamin and Oren can’t stop Goku, so they join together to become Kamioren. Trunks is shocked that they can do this, as if he hasn’t already seen several characters combine like this before.

But Kamioren can’t stop Goku either, so Hearts brings in another teammate, Lagss. Lagss has a technique where she shoots broken glass as Goku, and it’s very effective, even though it never actually cuts him. I guess it’s like magic glass that only inflicts pain without injury?

So Vegeta goes after Kamioren instead, since he wants revenge for how they made a fool of him earlier. He uses his Super Saiyan Blue 2 Royal Evolution (Evolved) ~Sign~ Level B, and hits Kamioren so hard they separate.

Then Hearts decides to step in and fight Goku, since he’s intrigued by Goku’s UI power. He can tell that it isn’t complete, so he plans to force Goku to improve his mastery of UI, then defeat him.

That all sounds very high and mighty, but all Hearts actually does is that same cheap gravity field thing he did before. As Goku struggles, the Supreme Kai of U7 shows up and they teleport back home.

Hearts then decides that Universe 7 should be their next target, but they have to go pick up Cumber from Universe 3, I guess. Also, they put Jiren in a box. I dunno what for.

Meanwhile, Fu is watching all of this from some other laboratory he has. He seems very pleased with everything that’s been happening, as if he and Hearts are on the same side. I mean, he seemed to anticipate Hearts’ arrival into the story, so maybe they’re in cahoots, or he’s just letting Hearts do his thing because they happen to share a similar goal.

In Universe 7, Goku has assembled a posse to defend it from Hearts’ crew. I’m not sure why he picked Piccolo and 17 but didn’t invite Gohan or 18 to this party, or any of the other Z fighters. Mostly, I’m just grateful that this show skipped the obligatory “Buu would help but he’s asleep” scene.

Here’s Oren doing some liquid metal stuff. I like Oren a lot.

Meanwhile, I think Cumber is still in Universe 3? I’m not sure, but he runs into a new foe arranged by Fu. It’s... Cooler. Again. Well, this time Fu turned him into Meta Cooler, so he’s stronger this way! Wait, Cooler hated Fu when they last met, and now they’re on the same side?

Then Meta Cooler transforms, becoming Golden. He dubs this form-- you might want to sit down for this-- Golden Metal Cooler. Shocking.

Cooler actually gets the upper hand in their fight, and he powers up a big finishing attack, but then the left side of his head starts to break down, so he has to withdraw.

Cumber calls him a coward, but he passes out from Cooler’s parting attack, so I guess this is a draw. Which... is pretty good for Cooler, except I have no idea why these two were fighting. How did Cooler turn into a machine? You’d think that Fu arranged it, except he says Cooler was transformed by the Big Gete Star, just like in Movie 6, where Metal Cooler was first introduced. But it’s the same Cooler we met in this series, right?

I mean, was Cooler trying to stop Cumber or help Fu, or both, or neither? Was he just out to prove he could stand up to Cumber? Seriously, why is Cooler even in this thing? I think SDBH might be the third best Cooler story by default, but it makes no sense.

Back on Earth, Hearts does the same cheap gravity thing he always uses.

Then he powers up, and says the Universe Seed is nearly ready. I don’t know if one has something to do with the other, or if it’s just a coincidence. Anyway, Goku will have to fight him, but we’ll cover that next time.

Marvel Worlds project plan: Deadpool (volume 1)

Note: All plans are subject to change as new ideas arise. The project could even be scrapped.

Synopsis

After years of killing bad guys, Deadpool reflects on his life. As awesome as he is, he feels alone. To make matters worse, someone that he apparently ticked off in the past has sent a super-powered mental patient after him. Now he must find people from his past to protect them from the agent of blind vengeance.

Characters

Wade Wilson/Deadpool - The unkillable "merc with a mouth." He has been active in this universe for some time now and has pretty much met every awesome hero.

Travis "T-Ray" Raymond - A former patient of the Gruenwald State Hospital with a history of Black Ops. His past is unknown and his recounts are incoherent. He takes a serum that allows him to heal and regenerate like Deadpool. He is promised his true past when he kills Deadpool.

Calvin William Sparks - An A.I.M. operative who covertly runs the Gruenwald State Hospital. He has a personal grudge against Deadpool and releases T-Ray to kill him.

Jack "Weasel" Hammer - Deadpool's tech-guy and only real friend.

Vanessa Carlysle/Copycat - A mutant who can shape shift into anyone she has genetic memory of and the former girlfriend of Deadpool that has not been communicated with for years. She is one of T-Ray's potential targets.

Eleanor Camacho - The secret daughter of Deadpool that was captured by T-Ray.

Warda Shiklah - The secret daughter of Deadpool that was captured by T-Ray.

Other Information:

I am going to try to tell the story in first-person narrative from Deadpool's point of view, unlike my usual stories.

My universes are on sliding timelines, so my original idea to having Deadpool active since 1991 would not have worked.

Deadpool's daughters were born within a ten-year timespan after he became the "Merc with a Mouth." They are in their early twenties by the beginning of the series.

Calvin W. Sparks is named after Calypso from the Twisted Metal video game series.

T-Ray's story was loosely inspired by John Doe from the Twisted Metal video game series.

Ghosted (2023) Review

Adrien Brody’s crappy French accent in this movie I could have forgiven, if only I haven’t seen John Wick: Chapter 4 a couple of weeks ago where I experienced the most delightful Parisian mouthing of Bill Skarsgard’s villain, so now Brody’s French-ish slur sticks out like a sore thumb. And boy is this one sore thumb. Everything is not j’aime up in this joint.

Plot: Cole falls head over heels for enigmatic Sadie, but then makes the shocking discovery that she's a secret agent. Before they can decide on a second date, Cole and Sadie are swept away on an international adventure to save the world.

This is the third time Chris Evans and Ana de Armas are co-starring in a film together, following the fantastic murder mystery Knives Out and the Netflix action film The Gray Man. As such this pairing on paper seems like a natural one, however upon seeing the new Ghosted film on Apple TV+ I have made quite the peculiar discovery - these two have absolutely zero chemistry. I mean none whatsoever. All their flirting comes of as cringeworthy, the romance is none existent and I didn’t buy into their relationship whatsoever. Their kissing scenes reminded me of that Andrew Garfield/Emma Stone SNL sketch where they don’t know how to kiss on camera. It was just awkward. And when in a rom-com your central couple have no chemistry, well then the movie is doomed to fail as is. Also, talk about a miscast! Chris Evans is supposed to play a farmer boy with an inhaler having an innocent outlook on life, yet it’s so hard not to see him as the alpha male, as such making his casting very questionable. Ana de Armas is usually a likeable presence, however, again, here is very bland and forgettable. And wears a wig. A very obvious wig, made the more obvious by the Twitter community, so thank you guys. It’s a shame really, as one could have easily done a trashy silly spy rom-com with A-list actors. Just look at Mr & Mrs Smith - an absolutely stupid movie but its hard to deny the sex appeal of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie together... though obviously that hasn’t aged too well but back then they were fire!

There’s a lot of talent involved behind the camera here. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick who are known as the writers of the very successful and entertaining Deadpool movies have story credits here, and Dexter Fletcher is in the director’s chair. Evidently all three must have been undergoing some kind of collective erectile dysfunction causing their creative juices to dry out like water in a desert, as this movie consists of all the possible Hollywood plot cliches imaginable, with a painfully unfunny script, boring direction and general nonsense. Fletcher is fresh off the heels of his previous directorial outing with the Elton John biopic Rocketman that was visually filled with colour and charm, yet here the directing is so shallow and plain. So uninspired. As for the action sequences, they are there I guess. There’s a somewhat passable fight/chase on a bus, but even then, all those stunts you would have seen before.

Ghosted would have been a perfectly acceptable affair back in the early 2000s, however in 2023 it is simply ticking off every generic cliché of a Hollywood action film, only not anywhere as good as the movies its ripping off, nor that funny either. There’s even a few pointless cameos thrown in, and I do mean pointless. So in a nutshell, not worth getting Apple TV+ for anyway, however if you’re wondering about that streaming service, there is a delightful movie about the backstory of Tetris that came out on there recently starring Taron Egerton, and that’s actually much more interesting.

Overall score: 3/10

So the sky is the limit now that I’ve got Marvel Unlimited access and I’ve maybe already bit off more than I can chew, but I wanted to go through the series I’ve added to my library on MU and state my interest in them so I don’t forget what I was thinking.
