#mei talks #😭💀✌️ we don’t speak of Roosterteeth here any longer but #I genuinely do miss being in the RvB community! the people there were so so kind to me #I was something like 13 or 14 and still finding my legs art wise! I grew up in the community surrounded by people who #really poured their hearts and souls into their stuff and were sooo so kind to me #the art and writing communities were super tight and I actually am still in touch with many of them #including the man the myth the legend jason weight o7 you could have saved RvB if they kept you on for s18 king #like I still remember the day saltsanford sent me like. a 4 ask long text wall screaming about my lyric comic while I was in line at ax #nearly fainted #ahh my lyric comic….I still have it up on ur channel. before my dad passed away he would always show me when it hit a new milestone in view #old art is always kind of embarsssing and tbh I think my interpretations of the characters made me well known much more than my art skill #but after high school my life kind of. fell apart in a lot of ways. dad dying was def a part of that 💀 and I think I found orv exactly at #the time I needed it. but looking back at my old RvB stuff is kind of like #a little time capsule ig. I was happier then but I’ve grown up a lot too

when i was in 7th grade i loved sailor moon AND dragonball z and i would watch them both every single day and i wished so badly they were in the same universe that one day i just started drawing a crossover.

Sailor Namek. Sailor Arlia. Sailor Vegeta. Sailor Yardrat. Sailor Earth.

i drew full color character sheets for each one and typed up and printed off full back stories of them too. their name, age, zodiac signs, hobbies, everything. i posted all that shit on the wall of my bedroom and eventually buried them all with my sailor moon time capsule in the year 2000 (lmao)

i never remembered where my time capsule was buried.

hundreds of years from now someones gonna dig up my shitty DBZ/Sailor Moon OCs and theres nothing i can do about it 😭😭😭😭

Thoughts:

Mostly another solid but unremarkable month but I do think the 11/19 strip deserves a bit of extra attention for being particularly interesting. One of my favorite parts of reading older media like this is seeing historical events discussed in real time from the perspective of the people living through them. It's one thing to read in a book that TV went from obscure, to popular, to ubiquitous in the 1950s. However it's another thing entirely to see that same event from the perspective of Charlie Brown noticing that the world is starting to look a bit different as he stares at his dog's Hi-Lo dual band dipole antenna. That's just neat as hell.

Also, I did the math and that thing would have cost like $300 in today's money. Kind of makes you wonder where Snoopy got that kind of scratch, doesn't it?

You know what else would be good? Lyrl meeting, or even just hearing about Querl in the 21st century, and recognising that they could have a normal familiar relationship. And recognising centuries later, as his life wanes, that they won't.
